I love iPhones. It’s nice you can have a phone that is 3-4 yrs old and still have current updates unlike the majority of androids. That being said apple needs to step up their game with iOS 13 or I’m leaving. Siri not working offline is complete BS as ok google can. Not being able to customize your home screen app layout is BS as well. If they can fix these things I will stay. Not that I’m going to make a difference to their profit margin but come on, catch up on the little things already.

Why most of the comments here are mostly disappointment? Is this really true? Or maybe they’re using 2nd hand iPhone 8 and quality is not as good as brand new unit? I’m curious. My iPhone 8 has no issues at all. The only concern that I encountered was unresponsive screen and after 12.3.1 update has arrived and have it upgraded to new version no issues at all. Battery is good , smooth in all aspects. iPhone 8 is a great phone and surely recommend this phone. Thank you.

Disappointed with iPhone 8. Android to iOS app doesn’t work. It didn’t accept a few of my valid credit cards while setting up my Apple ID which was a pain. Plus the keyboard sucks. I am first time iPhone user. I gave it sometime but it disappoints me more each day. Even Siri is a disappointment.

you are measuring the camera quality in megapixels? well those 40mp phones dont take shots in 40mp, they do it in 10mp, as this way you get a larger pixel. 40 mp phones also mainly came out after the iphone 8.

I have the iPhone 8 myself, and was extremely upset to realise that the iPhone 8 has a worse battery life than the iPhone 7 does!! The battery life for the price is atrocious compared with the batteries that are at a similar, if not cheaper, price point from opposing companies. The same can be said for the camera quality, 12MP is nothing compared with the 40MP, 5x optical zoom cameras that are out there. Apple will need to severely up their game in order to keep my loyalty going forward. As it stands at the minute I can't wait for my upgrade to come round so I can jump ship.

Think in the long term. 1. iPhone 8 will be supported at least 5 years or more. 2. No delay OS update. Every iOS phone gets updated day one. S10e may need to wait 5 to 6 months before updated. 3. You can use the money not upgrading for 5 years on Apple Watch / Airpods / iPads. 4. Haptic TouchID, very durable, same as iPhone 7. No worries for biometrics, or broken home buttons. 5. Fast performance, and good support for all apps. 6. If you own a car, wireless carplay. (Samsung's wireless options are limited and not globally supported). Same as pixel phones' wireless android auto. iOS12 Wireless CarPlay support a lot of third party navigation apps. Plus if you have wireless charging in your car, it will charge up fast. The iPhone 8 and XR are absolutely not worth it after the release of the Samsung Galaxy S10e! In absolutely every hardware aspect it is better than the iPhones but if you are in the Apple eco system and you prefer iOS than there's no doubt that you'll listen to my words but I'l still try to convince you by that the S10e has ultra wide angle rear camera which takes incredible photos and the battery life is absolutely astonishing. However you choose how to spend your money ;)

Just use all the juice of the battery until the phone turns itself off. Then recharge it for a few hours longer even after it’s reached 100% (maybe overnight). Then reboot the phone by pressing the power button and the home button at the same time. Then it may show the percentages correctly again. If you think the battery doesn’t last long enough, buy a power bank (a small one physically) that has at least 4400 mAh capacity. Those which have 10.000 mAh are usually so bulky you wouldn’t carry them with you anyway (at least not when it’s summer and you dress lightly).

Thanks for the reply. I did some research and here's what I found. According to apple it takes about 500 charge cycles to drop the battery health down to 80%. If we charge from 30 - 80% it consumes 0.42 cycles. (Keeping the batery within 30 - 80% charged is very good for the health) So even if a person charges his phone once a day, within a year, at least 0.42 * 365 = 153.3 charge cycles consumed. That should translate into 6.132 % drop in battery capacity. (Please note above are my calculations and I'm not an expert on math or tech.) Do comment your batery health level and how long you've been using your phone to see if those theories are true when it comes to real life. Thank you :)

Is it possible to have a device battery to be at 99% batery health even after using it over and year? it's not possible right, unless the battery is replaced a couple of weeks ago? I was was going to buy a used iphone 8 (not "refurbished by Apple"). Then i checked the ipjone 8's IMEI number online using imeipro.info and it said the iphone is out of warranty meaning that's a 1 year+ used phone, but the batery health is at 99%. So that does mean the iphone has been opened up to replace the batery and the water resistance may habe been compromised, right?

I had this issue in my IP8. Connectivity issues frustrates me especially data connections. I almost end up being miserable and didnt know what to do. Good thing when IOS 12 rolled out, the issue was gone and im just so happy that i am able to enjoy this beastly fast phone without issues! Im a heavy user coz im a gamer and i end up charging my phone 1-2 times a day but i dont care as well as performance is concerned.

I've had my iPhone 8 since October 2017, great phone. Battery health is at 88% and I still have no actual issues with battery life, occasionally I have to plug it throughout the day but it's never more than once and never for any longer than 20 minutes. Considering the small battery, you can actually go from about 5% to 50% in 30 minutes of charging WITH the small charger that comes in the box, and even faster if you opt to buy an Apple USB-C fast charger, so there really aren't any issues with the battery in that regard. Otherwise, great phone. Ultra smooth, no real performance issues aside from apps sometimes, though PRETTY rarely, having to re-open when I'm gaming or doing anything super demanding. This is entirely because of the 2gb of ram in the phone, the actual speed of everything poses no real problems. Device cooling is great, never gets very warm, even when charging wirelessly. Display is excellent despite somewhat low pixel density compared to most Android phones; though it's quite easy to tell that Steve Jobs wasn't lying when he said 300ppi is the maximum a human eye can see, because you really CAN'T see individual pixels at ALL when looking at the phone from a normal viewing distance (even barely when looking at it super close on). Cameras on both front and back are incredible, and you lose nothing besides portrait mode and optical zoom when compared directly to the 8 Plus; the regular non-portrait/non-optically zoomed photos each device takes are equally as good. Overall, would recommend this phone for anyone upgrading from an older iPhone who still wants a smaller screen, or anyone on the Android side looking to try out an iPhone with a lot of feature but without spending TOO much money. Hope this helped!

I loved my iPhone 8 until I updated iOS to 12.1.2, because after the update, battery drains so fast that I don’t even want to use my iPhone in order to save some battery. Before the update, battery lasted around 24hrs. After update it’s last only around 11-12 hrs.

Well, 6s < 7 < 8 6s has no headphone jack, but that should not be a big issue for most. 7 has stereo speakers, OIS, and water resistance 8 has wireless charging if you are into that. All of them are great, I personally think the 6s is everything anyone ever needs, and buying used is cheaper. But of course, newer is better

I suggest you to go with the iPhone 8, i have one and the battery lasts for me 5-8 hrs day, in a day i usually go for 1-2 charges, display is ok since you dont prefer with the plus version and as a ios starter it is right to go for the low end devices first. Camera performance is good, it replaces my nikon camera, good for night pictures,and overall performance is good. Beware that the back of the iPhone 8 is glass so i suggest you go with a case (protective ones) If your a gamer and takes alot of photos go for the 256gb but if your on a budget go for 64gb ones

I have this phone for almost a year and for me it was a downgrade from s7 edge, the screen is worst, the battery is worst, the charging, and sometimes this phone blocks and doesn’t work for 2-3 minutes(it doesn’t respond to anything). It’s not worth the money, just go for the s9 plus or the p20 pro the price is almost the same

Because 1. It only has one camera 2. It hasn't got the A12, but only the A11 SoC (processor/image signal processor). With the A12, it's possible to have portrait photo with one lens, with the A11, that isn't possible. It could also be because Apple wanted to have a reason for people to get the newer, more expensive XR instead of the 8 or 7, but let's not assume that.

Depends on what you mean by "using it for a longer time". If you mean that you can use it longer per day, the S9 has longer battery life. If you mean that you can use it longer over the years, the iPhone will get software updates for a much longer time and the speed also won't decrease as fast

Portrait mode is available on iPhone 7 Plus, 8 Plus, X, Xs, Xs Max and XR. iPhone 8 doesn't have it.

Incorrect the iPhone 8 has 65.4 percent screen to body ratio vs the 67.4 % in the iPhone 8 Plus so it is not worse than iPhone 8 . I am upgraded from galaxy s8 to iPhone X neither of them were that great of an experience so I bought an iPhone 8 Plus the bezels are what attracted me I dropped my s8 and iPhone X only a few times to crack them beyond use but my iPhone 8 Plus hasn’t got a scratch on the screen and I drop it quite often nobody really needs bezelless phone it’s just a marketing campaign by the smartphone companies too bad Apple is getting rid of the home button and their iconic bezels for good

This phone is fast, good video stabilization and quality and AR. The glass back design looks good but not for me because I cover it up. And afraid it might break if I accidentally drop it (I only use thin case). But apple really does need to improve battery life. Not so much difference with the battery life of the iPhone 5s I used.

If you need those 128 GB, iPhone 7. If not, iPhone 8. I personally have the iPhone 7 128GB and I never delete photos or unnecessary apps or anything and I've only used 51,2 GB so far after 1 1/2 years of usage and no removing of any unnecessary data. If I had to choose now (I bought it in 2016), I would pick the iPhone 8 because it's got some pretty great upgrades from iPhone 7.

Actually XZ2 compact is smaller than the iphone 8. Dimensions of XZ2 compact and iphone 8 are 135 x 65 x 12.1 mm and 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm respectively. Just that XZ2 compact is thicker. Anyways both are great devices..

When I sleep for 8 hours the percentage goes down like 3 or 4 percent, never more than that. The phone never heats up, even not while gaming or charging which is good. I also have an old 6s Plus which heats up quite a bit while snapchatting or gaming. I don't use a fast charger. I just charge when I get the chance. Sometimes from 50 to 90% or 30 to 80%. Very different. Battery health is at 98% after 10 months of use.

Almost 10 months with my silver iPhone 8 and still incredibly happy with it. Battery, speaker quality, display, camera and speed are all superb. I would never trade it for an iPhone X because I want a fingerprint scanner and I prefer the smaller size and actually like the white bezels too. Usually I upgrade every year but I'm so happy with this phone that I'll keep it for at least another year.

I've had the iPhone 8 256GB for a couple of weeks now. Here are my scores for it. Battery: 9/10 Screen: 8/10 Audio: 10/10 LTE Connectivity: 10/10 Wi-Fi Connectivity: 10/10 So far, the phone is pretty great. I'm a heavy mobile gamer on this and I've installed a bunch of apps already. No lags whatsoever. With the 256GB storage, I've only scratched the surface of the storage bar.

Depends if you value performance or storage. If you use your phone lightly the differnce in speed will be minimal so the seven will be fine but if you plan to play demanding games, use AR or edit video/photos go with the 8.

It is true. But this happens because iPhone is a product that was designed, together with its OS, by the same company. If you make all components, hardware and software, surely you get a product optimized for great performance. Android is a very powerful OS, but it has to run (well) on 250 types of screens, 65, types of RAM memory, 85 types of processors, 650 types of motherboards, etc, etc... from a hundred producers with a thousand models. You get the idea. It's not easy. This is why it needs at least the double of hardware power (RAM, processor, etc) to deliver comparable speed and performance with the iPhone.

I was user of iPhone 4s, but only on 16GB model, and needed more space. Then a bought couple Android flagships from Samsung, Sony and Huawei. Now I own iPhone 8 256GB and in comparison with any Android flagship I have used, I can say they are incomparable. Apple uses less CPU and RAM because the optimization of their SW and HW is unique and more is not needed. If Android has more CPU and RAM, it does not mean that is faster than iOS, it means that it needs more resources to complete the OS tasks.

My first android was an S7 edge. Wanted to try out IOS, so i bought a cheap iphone 5s. Used it as the secondary device. I loved it. In the meantime, some shitty accident happend and S7 edge's display broke. So i thought i should probably buy an iphone as my primary phone. Went ahead and bought a 6s. --3D touch was kinda awesome (specially when playing multiplayer fps) --for basic uses, it was great, device was snappy. ------after the honeymoon period (lol) started noticing shortcomings 1) I just didn't like the way my homescreen appeared... 2) Music - - - This was the real dealbraker. I live away from US. A good free music streaming service was hard to come by. I couldn't download music from the internet(websites) 3) No torrenting - - - Yes I get it. Torrenting is kinda illegal. But it's something really useful. Whenever you need to watch a tv series, a movie, or to listen to a hi-res music file - torrenting kicks in. 4) Expandable Storage - - - This was really painful. When you're on a tight budget, most people go for cheap 16 or a 64gb iphone. You gotta feel for the 16gb guys. Really??? Lol 16gb isn't gonna be enough at all. I had the 64gb one. But still after about a month - it wasn't enough. At this point - I didn't wanna give up though. I found solutions to many of the shortcomings. For example, I used my laptop to download music and transferred throigh the iTunes app. But finally I was ready to admit the fact - --Iphone 6s is not gonna do everything I need my phone to do... No I'm not saying ios/iphones are bad. Infact they are great devices. Super snappy, and the apple's 5years software update thing is awesome. And it's great to see, many Android following on these footprints. Finally i bought a nokia 8 (was really cheap at 400$). My first pure Android device. This never made me miss ios. Phone is up-to-date with most recent OS/security versions. Super snappy(running snapdragon 835) I'm glad I switched back to Android (to pure android) Functionality-wise (at least for me) (representing people not from US) Androids are way ahead of iphones. I still love ios. But right now, Android is ahead of the game.

Not the case with pure android. If you want to get a lovely android experience, try a nokia 8 available for under 400$ (cheaper than 6s) Not saying iphone 6s is crap. But your claims are false. Older android versions and heavily customized skins (eg: TouchWiz UI) slow down over time. But pure android (like in Pixel / Nokia) or light skins (like in OnePlus) doesn't slow down over time.

I have been an android user for many, many years and I’m so disappointed that I switched to the iPhone 8 Plus. It is nowhere near as intuitive as an android. It makes you go through many more steps to accomplish the same goals as the android. The voice recognition is horrible and Siri is an idiot. For example, “OK Google how old is George Clooney?” and it would announce “George Clooney is 57 years old.” When I asked Siri “hey Siri how old is George Clooney?” She starts giving me the details of King George’s death. Over and over I tried and annunciated so clearly. The AutoCorrect is also inferior.

I am currently using the iPhone 8, and I usually have it in Low Power Mode for most of the times I go out, and smart invert does not have any impact on the phone's temperature, but some heavy gaming does. So it's totally fine to have the Low Power Mode on if you are willing to.

I had an iphone 7 plus for more than 6 months. I tried to adopt with its size yet I couldn't, I surrendered and switched back to small factor iphone (7 plus was the only plus model i owned). I got the iphone 8 and wasn't sure about battery life but i can tell i get one hour or more screen on time than the 7 plus. though sometimes I miss the protrait mode but there are plenty of apps than can cover the feature. The camera is superb the difference is noticeable especially in HDR scenes and the flash is just excellent. 4k 64fps is welcomed but i dont use it yet since my mid 2011 imac can't handle it lol. truetone is a cool feature i cant see myself deactivating it. I have a 10w ipad charger i can tell i get the phone charged to 80 within an hour. fingerprint reader used to not work when finger is sweating with 7 plus. I dont have this problem of unlocking it with fingerprint anymore!

If you are not waiting for a jailbreak and are on any other version of iOS 11 (which is the only possible thing with the iPhone 8) update. iOS 11.3 is way more polished than all the iOS versions before. Everything from the 11.0 and 11.1 generation was actually bs. 11.2 was ok, but 11.3 is the first iOS I would consider really great and worth to be named "iOS". Only downside I see on my iPhone 7 is that the battery life is a bit shorter, but for the fluidity and the few extra features you get, I personally think it is absolutely worth it. iPhone slowdown is a myth from the past, it happened with iPhone 4 and 4s, but the iPhone 5 is great on iOS 10 and the 5s is pretty solid on iOS 11.

Third party apps are laggy (well at least they never crashed) Poor battery life and charging speed (well it comes with an 1.5A charger) Lags while scrolling through homescreen 2GB RAM may not be enough for power users. After 10 minutes of inactivity some apps may reload. 600 USD pricetag. Well on the bright side, the phone is durable, i’ve dropped it about 3 times already from about waist height 2 times, chest height once And when it is fast , it’s really fast

guys which phone do you recommend, pixel 2 or iPhone 8 (not interested in Samsung phones). Pixel 2 has portrait modes and few more good features but software/security support for maybe 2 more years while iPhone 8 at the same price in India will give software support for at least 4 more years. value for money wise, the Galaxy S9 gives you more. It has a slightly better camera, more modern design, microSD, headphone jack, more RAM, longer battery life and what not. But as you're looking for something that lasts long (which also means long software support which means security as well as the latest and shiniest features and app support), you are probably better of with an iPhone if you plan on keeping it that long. To be honest, I also keep my phones around that long, 4 to 5 years is exactly how it is with me as well. It is still on the side of great performing phones, and camera improvements also weren't as big to jump out of the window. The iPhone 8 is not that old of a phone, which means it is still quite expensive. The iPhone 7 is better value but comes with lower base storage. The iPhone 6s has even better value but comes with even lower base storage. This all, of course, if money is an issue. If you already work for yourself and your bank account goes up by 500 € every month, then well, go ahead and get yourself an iPhone 8. I am not able to do so because I am still at school.

8 will be better but the first few dys it will be working hard to download your icloud and so on, if youre on a slow connection or has 200GB icloud filled up (like a lady i know) the 8 will consume a lot of battery the first few days. Use this method when setting up a new ip8: 1. On your old iPhone turn off icloud backup. 2. Connect old iphone to iTunes, it will autobackup. 3. Set up your new phone, when asked chose to restore itunes backup. 4. Chgange the name of your new phone (general - about) 5. Click on each app that didnt install (marked with a cloud symbol) to download them from Appstore. 6. Start each app once to finish initializing and setup as required. Connect itunes again to sync new apps (like TV app content, your videos will not be restored from backup since TV wasnt yet installed) iTunes backups are super fast, and you avoid days of icloud downloading.

I buy android phones rom time to time to keep up with whats going on but the last Android i bought i sold the same day i received it. It has gone completely downhill and is so hard to use now that it was physically painful. Its now no doubt, android was at its best with Android 2.3, then it went down a while and up again with 4.1-4.3 but since then it has plummeted to where its current level can best be described as "useless". Apple doesn't stop providing users with it's latest software updates unless the phone is so old that it's age has rendered it unusable for practical reasons. By practical reasons I mean e.g. the storage capacity, as for example an update may potentially exceed in size the overall storage capacity of a 3 year old device. What you are describing applies more to other providers of Android phones that may depending on the occasion cease to provide software upgrades even as soon as 1 year after the launch of some of their smartphones (e.g. OnePlus or Samsung)

in my opinion you should go for iphone 8+ because by the years apple may stop phone updates on the 7 and some feature wouldn't be eligible for iphone 7 but the 8 would survive more because it's newer personally i'm facing a little problems with my iphone 5 because my my phone doesn't match some apps requirements on the other hand the iphone 5S is still supported with updates basically because it's newer good luck :)

I have none of those problems with my iPhone8, If I'm not using it hourly, my battery is good for at least 72 hours. I generally charge every 2nd day, following maybe a dozen phone calls under 3 minutes each, and a couple of dozen texts. And maybe a dozen photos. Better than the i6 I upgraded from.

It really is the fastest phone on the market, I have it. I also have the iPhone 6s Plus (released in 2015) with the A9 chipset, and that phone is faster than all the Android flagships of 2017. Also faster than Xperia XZ1 which I owned for a couple of weeks. XZ1 has Snapdragon 835 while both the 6s Plus and XZ1 have 1080p resolution. So it's not only about the screen resolution. Apple simply has the best optimization. The A11 in the 8 (Plus) and iPhone X will easily beat the Snapdragon 845 powered Android phones.

There is a terrible miss understanding relating to IOS People think that they can’t download or receive files and media on ios unless they reformat it and get it through iTunes Here are some facts. I’m using ios from about 3 years and i never used iTunes. I download music,videos and all formats of files you can imagine. It is simple idea. Just use third party application such like Documents by readdle. Which can share, receive and download files and is accessible from any app. And you can use any media player from the app store when it comes to watching movies with subtitle. I’m very shocked how many people hate ios or doesn’t use all of it’s power just because of such old myths about ios. Do you really believe that a 700$ device can’t download and share media?!!!

Yes it is a very phone. It's only drawback is its design. It now has a body that is years old and a dreadful screen to body ratio. It desperately needs to be modernised. I would have bought one if it had been updated. I bought an s8 instead which I feel has a beautiful design and I have absolutely no regrets. It's unpopular that's true. But I have it since almost 4 months now and to me it's the best phone I have ever owned. It has the fastest chip on the market, excellent camera, pocketable size and easy one-handed use, decent battery life, iOS software with many years of software support from Apple, fingerprint scanner on the front and beautiful quality stereo sound from the two speakers. I wouldn't trade my 8 for a 8 Plus, X, S8, S9 or whatever phone. Even if I didn't have to pay extra to trade with one of those phone. Because the 8 is perfect for me!

It's because of the battery, I replaced my iPhone 6 battery a week ago because it kept shutting down and running out every hour but now the device is much faster and reliable. Apple admitted that their devices slow down in performance so the battery lasts at an optimum level. Hoped it help!

I’m glad you atleast partly agree with me. I try to be objective as much as I can, because a good phone is a good phone. In my opinion, it’s kinda more of personal taste what will suit you better. It’s almoust 100% sure that whether you choose iPhone8 or S8 - you will be satisfyed by your phone. I agree with what you stated why iPhone does hold greater value. Just Apple is slowing down phones with years, as battery degrades... you will either lose performance, or you will have to change it’s battery. And that’s the biggest part why I’m really glad I picked S8.

Your last sentence doesn‘t really add up for me. If you look at how long the phone will last, I‘m sure, because of the higher benchmarks but also the software support, that the iPhone 8 will be better. Right now, the S8 is probably better because the iPhone 8 was a really minor upgrade but came in at a higher price, all because the iPhone X is now their best phone. It‘s like the Samsung MU 8000 TV series from Samsung, which is the successor to the KS 8000 which was much better. If Apple wants to save this phone, they have to reduce the price dramatically, so that it sits right above the iPhone 7, maybe a €50 difference. So I think today, the S8 is the better phone and got much more value for money. But after 3 or 4 years, an iPhone will always win. Even the 7 will be better, because of the iPhone‘s longevity, you unfortunately also have to pay for. I hope I didn’t sound like a fanboy because I always try to be fair and such. I think you were really fair with a big part your statement, and this has become uncommon on this website.

I had dilemma between iPhone8 and Galaxy S8... what to buy? I got the Galaxy S8 and I didn't regret it. I chose better screen, good battery, headphone jack and other features over benchmark performance. I know iPhone is incredibly fast, just I don't need that, and I don't use my phone for stuff like gaming. But I do need features, and infinity display, battery and headphone jack. Now, hearing that Apple slows down older phones - I'm really glad I got the S8. It's much better in the long run.

After 2 months, I'm still very happy with this phone! I'm someone who has tried and returned Android flagships like Sony XZ1, LG G6 and S8 back to the store within a couple of days. Everyone has their own preference of course but I like iOS. The way the software and hardware works together amazes me every time I use my iPhone. When you see speed tests you won't really notice the speed difference. It's in day to day use when you understand why the benchmarks are sky high of the iPhone 8 compared to the Android flagships. It's a freaking little beast and I love it! Also the camera, battery llife and speakers are fantastic. And oh yeah, you receive updates immediately and not months later like Samsung S8 (Oreo where is it?). Also the updates will continue to come to iPhone 8 for at least 5 years from now, the S8 Oreo and then Android P. After that Samsung will say byebye throw it in the trash we will not support your device anymore so buy new one haha. You pay premium price but you get premium experience. There is a reason why resale value is much higher for iPhones.

From iPhone 6 to 8, i think this are one of the best smartphone body designed till to date. If 64GB can suffice you, go for the iphone 8. It's not much different than iphone 7 but the one year gap of updates should keep your phone running for a longer period. Plus, the camera's are a bit better but the battery is much improved. If money is no issue go for iphone 8 256GB to ensure having more than enough space (and later selling value) for the next 3 to 4 years! Hope that's helpful :)

Purely speed-wise, this is right, because my iPhone 7 also can still keep up with most android flagships released today, especially since iOS 11 made the animations faster and 11.2 returned the speed of 10.3.3.

All depends on your personal preferences. Can't go wrong with either in terms of camera and performance. iPhone8 has a quicker processor but you're unlikely to notice an appreciable difference in normal use. S8 has a visually appealing, modernistic design with its "infinity display", whereas the iPhone8 is same old same old (albeit with a glass back for wireless charging). Some would also argue that iPhones have a better longevity than Samsung phones, which tend to lag over time. I've owned both but settled on the iPhone 8. I prefer the iOS ecosystem and having the fingerprint scanner on the front.

There simply isn’t a faster phone on the market, yeah maybe X and 8 Plus offers same performance but Android no, just no. i am a samsung phone user, and i have been for years, but i also like apple computers, i had one my self and i had a iphone when the iphone 4 came out and i felt like my life was over lol, using the phone was so boring to me because i like to customize my phone at any giving time and still now you can't do that with the iphones still, also i like that i barely have to pay for anything on my phone, such as ringtones, music, and more. android phones you can multitask more on them as well. but the new features on the iphones is nice, i always watch all the presentations to see what apple is gonna come out next with on any of their products especailly their phones, but yet again no customizing the iphones! so next year i hope they focus on that, and more ways to use your phone without paying for every little thing you do on them. if that happens i believe i can then convert to the iphone because then it will have everything that samsung has and of course even more because the iphones are very smart and easy to use like my macbook pro, if you can do that then you might have more customers converting as well!

This iPhone is a worthy upgrade if you are coming from 5s or below or may be iphone 6. But mostly people having iphone 6s or 7 will feel its not worth to upgrade. if someone is coming from Android and want to test iOS they may prefer iPhone 7 or if they are sure they want to switch completely then iPhone 8 may be the one for them as they will get software support for next 5 years.

Hi i switched from android and bought the iphone 8.It s a great phone but i have a small and frustating little problem.When i have wifi connected and the phone is locked the wifi disconnects.Thatmeans that i cant have notifications of mail whats up messanger etc.Then when i use my phone the notifications will enter becauseafter 5 seconds that i unlock my phone the wifi will re connect.I took it to a technition and told me that it is not a bug but a feature from apple to preserve battery.He told me that the phone when locked after30seconds will be put in deep sleep mode automatically and that it cannot be changed.Notifications are an important part of a phone these days and its frustating that when a phone is locked the wifi will disconnect and then re connect only when i use the phone.Does anyone who owns the iphone 8 have the same problem?

Not to mention software/processor issues with background apps and device batteries bloating. iPhone X is a question mark due to pricing and time will tell if it will have display burn-in or ghosting common to OLED displays. For all the people that swear by iPhones for it's faster processor, that only goes so far in a feature rich android smartphone environment at pricing iPhones can't match. Apple hasn't shown that it's nimble enough to respond to a rapidly changing device arena. Sure, it will sell millions of units but it will continue to lose market share. Samsung overtook Apple recently in US market share, 36% to 34% largely due to the Galaxy S8 but that's nothing compared to worldwide sales where Apple is getting clobbered at 17% compared to Samsung's 26%. Other relatively new entries are struggling as well. Essential had a horrible roll out with customer service and quality deficiencies. In response to sales of only 5,000 devices they were forced into an early price reduction. Google's Pixel 2 is also being scrutinized for the same reason the iPhone 8 is, not many improvements plus screen burn and ghosting are now impacting the roll out. Even though Essential and Pixel 2 are a tiny percentage of market share, less than 2%, it leaves Samsung in the drivers seat going forward with strong Galaxy S8 and Note 8 sales numbers and there's nothing on the horizon poised to alter that dynamic. When the Galaxy X debuts in 2018, a truly revolutionary device, Apple will have to come up with a forward looking game plan or it is destined to be set aside as a credible market innovator.

2GB is enough for iOS to run smooth and handle a lot of applications, though iOS 11 has a problem in ram management and affect at keeping apps run in background, it has to reload some apps, worse than iPhone 7 run on iOS 10. I can't say battery is better than s8 or any flagships out there, but iPhone 8 battery is enough to manage daily apps in a day without additional charge unless you play so much games and other heavy apps

Both phones have different OS. iPhone comes with iOS. An ecosystem of its own. Apple's total control over it. But it is efficient,free of bloatware and an experience of its own. It will have no other competition as far as iOS system is concerned. Samsung flagship comes with Android OS. Open and flexible. But big problem is Samsung's bloatware OS. Even with 6gb RAM, it will start lagging for everything you do.

Well both of them have good sides and the bad sides. So I'm only going to shorten it for you. Overall usage(texting social media etc): Both does fine job. S8 fells a bit better though thanks to its bigger and less bezelish screen Gaming: iPhone 8 beats the s8 by a huge margin in terms of and GPU. Expect every game to be smooth. Security: iOS is better by a slight margin because of how often it gets attacked by viruses. Most viruses target android devices. It doesn't mean that iOS can't be hacked but if you buy an iPhone 8, you don't have to worry about virus attacks as much as android devices. The security in terms of locking the device etc. is pretty similar with android. Camera: s8 beats the iPhone camera in terms of MP's(quality). the iPhone 8 plus' dual camera can make portrait photos which will also come to s8 soon. In terms of saturation and coloring iPhone beats s8 by a little bit. Video: iPhone wins this one thanks to its 4k@60fps and its slow mo 1080@240 fps. The bad thing is that you might fill the storage faster because 4k@60fps eats more storage. Same goes for slow motion. I hope this helps and I hope you will become happy with your choice.

Have you even seen the benchmark scores for the new IPhone 8? Most Android phones in 2017 that run the 835 SoC usually score around 6000 to 7000 in the multi-core benchmark tests. I was using the IPhone 8 for a couple of days from a friend of mine (we agreed to trade phones for 3 days) and I have to say Apple has really dug themselves into a boiling cesspool. IPhone 8 is typical of nowadays Apple products: fast, simplistic, and trendy. But design is currently Apple's weakness. Apple users have yet to see a revolutionary design since 3 years from the IPhone 6. Apple answered the call and presented a breath of fresh air we call the IPhone X. Oh and they gave us this too. Literally an IPhone 6s modernized for 2017 with some of the expected smartphone trends. Ignoring the already high price, I find it kind of hard to buy this phone over the IPhone X. If I include price into the factors, then why should I buy this over an already reliable IPhone 7? Honestly, the IPhone X is what the IPhone 8 should have been. This puts a problem for Apple's next generation of IPhones. Since Apple has set a new standard of design in the IPhone category, the next generation IPhone has to meet that standard. Apple can't just bullshit their way through by rebranding another IPhone 6s, not especially when their competition keeps throwing out newer designs every year. The IPhone 8 in my eyes looks like the same IPhone 3 I had nearly 8 years ago. Same bezel design, home button placement, and screen to body ratio. The only difference is the build quality, system, and specs. If Apple releases an IPhone 9 with the same design language as this year's IPhone 8, then the same question will arise: "Why should I upgrade?" Apple has to meet the standard of the IPhone X to even compete for next year. And even then, some Apple users may be resentful towards why they dumped a considerably high amount of cash for a new IPhone design, when they could just wait one more year for a refreshing design with (maybe) a cheaper price. It's unreasonable. Mainstream Android smartphone manufacturing companies have already set themselves a new standard this year with their own variations of "bezel-less" smartphones. It's expected that they will uphold this trend for the next 4 years until the next best thing. Other Android firms will follow suit. Apple has to do the same, especially since they too hopped on the Super Premium Flagship trend with the IPhone X.

However, there are a few catches with the 8, that may make you want to upgrade if these things are of an issue to you. First off, everything is pretty much the same size and diameter on the screen and resolution, excluding that the iPhone 7 was about 10 grams lighter than the 8, and that the 8 also carries True-Tone, to provide better HD and color saturation. Not so much a big deal right? Seems standard. The first big change of the iPhone 8 is the Chipset/CPU and GPU. Apple launched the 8 with it's new A11 Bionic Chipset, holds a Hexa-Core processor, and Apple geniusly put there own 3-Core Apple GPU in the device. This makes the device flawless in speed and navigating web pages, videos, and playing games just like on the iPad Pro. The second biggest change comes with 2 small upgrades to the battery. Even though the 8 has a smaller battery and capacity, both the 7 & 8 seemed to have no difference in talk time and battery life. The first big change is the Qi Wireless charging. However, I can't help but feel stumped as to why Apple to so long to race to the barn with this, when it could've been able to run on the iPhone 6s at the least, and the second major innvation is the battery can charge in an hour or just under that. If you're going to upgrade your iPhone, make sure you are doing it for your own reason. The biggest benefit on the 8 is the newer processing power and GPU. I doubt Apple has their hands around it yet. Some things to consider, shipments for the iPhone 8 are far behind what the iPhone 7 enjoyed when it debuted. The two main reasons are supply line shortages for the OLED display and redesign issues. Also, the vast majority of shipments to date haven't been to individual purchasers, rather they've gone to the main service providers/retailers like Verizon, Sprint, AT&T. If they are experiencing a high incident of battery expansion or other defects you can be sure they're not going to highlight them. Only time will tell.

If you've never had an android device HTC's U-11 is feature packed, a clean OS at a good price. I read a lot comments regarding android phones, that they crash, freeze or lag but I've never had anyof those issues even with phones I didn't flash with custom rom' s. So that's a matter of preference, but after having used both, I prefer iOS. Sidenote: iOS is also catching up in terms of features, tearing down the walls of the castle that steve jobs and Scott Forstall built. For example, they just gave us the ability to record our screen in iOS 11, and it's true this was available on Android since years. Just bad that now, you can't list this as an advantage anymore. And the advantages of Android are basically freedom and customizability, not security, support or uniformity. With that being said, continue to use what you want and don't let anybody change your buying decision, but only your opinion on something if there are good arguments.

Nah, iPhone 8 is far more advanced. iPhone 6 was the worst, many issues (bend gate, touch disease and what not), not much different from iPhone 5s (camera, display and processor were almost the same), just a new flashy design. After that, iPhone 6s fixed everything and was a real successor to 5s, and iPhone 7 finally fixed that disgusting back design. And now iPhone 8 improves on all of that and looks even better than iPhone 7, it is the prettiest on so far in my opinion. Geekbench is made to be comparable across platforms. And yes, it's true that A11 is much faster then SD 835. iPhone 8 may at the moment not be faster then a stock android phone like OnePlus 5, because guess what, iOS 11 is heavier. While android stayed at their Same level since years, iOS added more and more features which need background resources so it became heavier. I always hear "If iPhone ran android it would be slower" Imagine an iPhone 5s with android, it would be blazing fast. But with iOS 11, it's just fast enough to be used. It's not because Apple makes them slower on purpose, iOS just gets heavier and heavier with more and more features with every major update. Android always keeps the same system requirements. Of course, Samsung has for example a skin which is even heavier then iOS, but nobody else except Samsung uses it. The sentence "if iPhone ran touchwiz" sounds more like a joke. But Geekbench will still not be affected, because it purely tests the CPU ignoring and filtering everything else. Antutu is different. My Xperia M4 Aqua was 20% faster after updating from Lollipop to Marshmallow, according to antutu. But Geekbench didn't change at all, because Geekbench is legit.

Let's be wise in here shall we? even if that A11 uses a 2+4 configuration. one Monsoon core eats without salt the Mongoose M2, not to mention Kryo 280. apple is slowly joining the Octa-core family. it just does it step by step. Imagine this. what if the A10 was octa core while A9 was dual? the difference was WAY too huge for iPhone lovers. going dual ->Quad ->Hexa ->Octa is much more reasonable. 2 GB ram for an iPhone is as efficient as 6-8 GB ram in Android. and sometimes even more. IP67 is certainly enough. there's a quite tiny difference between x7 and x8. which is seal level. x8 us tight seal while x7 is a few nanometer specks can enter. 326 PPI is quite decent if you'll ask me. why would you need 800+ PPI density when the human eye stops sensing any difference at 600? Apple still has a lot of haters I see in the comments. I like both Android and iOS. In this year alone I have tried a lot of phones and returned them within the 30 day period. I've tried Xperia XZ, XZ Compact, Galaxy S7 and S8, HTC U11 and LG G6. Now I have the iPhone 8 and I know I'm definitely gonna keep this one. Sometimes you use a phone and you know in a couple of minutes that it's 'the one'. Not a single Android flagship can compete with iPhone's speed. Even the 6s Plus from 2015 beats the 2017 Snapdragon 835 in the U11 and S8 speed wise. The A11 processor in the iPhone 8 is a of course a more powerful beast. Apple is the only phone that gives me a feeling that I'm using a real premium phone. The camera, battery life and speaker loudness and sound quality are fantastic in this phone and iOS looks beautiful imo. This phone will receive new updates immediately, while with Android flagships you maybe pay a little less for the phone, but you get updates months later and only receive two major Android updates and after that no more. iPhones receive new iOS updates even 5 or 6 years after the phone was released. Also the resale value of iPhones is sometimes 2 to 3 times higher than Android phones. The haters kan keep talking about the specs of the battery, display etc. In my opinion Apple makes the best flagship phones.

But the 4.7" iPhones have always had the worst value while being the worst model of the duo. At least my 5" Pixel wasn't compromised as much compared to its biggest brother. Getting a display close to 720p for $700 is pure ripoff knowing it also has worse sharpness and battery life. Get the 5.8" X although the keyboard won't be as comfortable to type being narrower than the Plus models. The iPhone SExy for me. Watch Nick Ackerman on YouTube to realize how awesome it still is.

Look at phonebuff speedtest, EAP water resistance test, buy the 256GB if 64GB is not enough for you, and just get an iPhone 8 Plus if 4.7in is too small for you. If you only look at the specs without knowing that it's an Apple, you would think it's a budget phone. For example the Moto E4 US$129 iPhone 8 US$699. Display 720p V 750p. Battery 2,800mAh V 1821mAh. The screen size has nothing to say about a phone. Your cheap $ 150 screen is probably one of the cheapest ones available, as well as the Mediatek MT6750 or whatever tiny processor it got inside. If you are interested in iphones, and you want to get one, and it looks like money is a matter for you, then don't bother of paying for iPhone 7,8 just buy the iPhone 6s, if you are still interested in Android, i have experience with two Android brands, Samsung and Sony, my experience with Samsung is the first few months you are so happy, then, here it comes the troubles, my experience with Sony, i bought Xperia z3 from 3 years, i used it intensively for three years, this smartphone was a legend, my father had Galaxy s5 causing him troubles and i found a Xperia x 64GB for a very affordable price, so i bought it and gave my z3 to my father and he is still using until now.

You will always come to a point where you need to upgrade your iPhone because it gets slower with the newer iOS versions and the battery wears and so on, but you seem to need a phone with a good value, because I don't think you need the flashy new gimmicks of iPhone 8 like wireless charging. I think an iPhone 6s will be just fine for you, because the newer iPhones are not that much faster, and Overall, the iPhone 6a just has the best value on an iPhone if you don't want the smaller screen of SE. A phone I wouldn't recommend is the iPhone 6, because it is not a big upgrade from 5s (6 to 6s is a way bigger upgrade) and it suffers from problems. The iPhone 8 is also not that good of a choice, just because it is new and more expensive than it should be, due to the fact that it is not widely available. The iPhone 7 is a moderate upgrade, but the price difference is too big for what it has to offer compared to 6s, in short: it has worse value.

I never owned an Android phone so take this as a question rather than a criticism. I had an iphone 3g then an iPhone 4 and finally an iPhone 5... This means on average I change a phone once every 4 years (my iPhone 5 is approaching 5 years!). Sometimes I consider switching to Android because (for me) mainly iTunes sucks and I don't wanna pay the 7-8 hundred Apple asks... But when I start looking for a phone I get dizzy and bored from the user comments... one phone heats up/ another is slow/ the other crashes/ some times they even blow up... (price to pay for one size fits all OS). I am not interested in a top notch phone... I am interested in one that is durable and its going to serve me and the 5 -10 apps I consistently use for the next 4 years. Being a programmer I really do not care about "the freedom of Android" I want something to work out of the box without crashing... I dont like big and bulky phones (in fact an iphone 5/se without the edges would be ideal for me) but I want a slightly bigger screen than the 5 mainly due to reading emails and sometimes documents... what do you think about the 8 and its price? (1.2k for the X is obviously ridiculous... )

I agree. Let, the choose what they want. One thing which makes apple different from Samsung is the reliability. The phone will literally last forever, doesn't hang and is damn secure.Security is the reason why there is an apple ecosystem. I have an iPhone 6 and it still doesn't hang and works like a charm. My S8 Plus with 6GB RAM and never lags or freezes. It has 384 GB's of memory, a wonderful Sony camera which doesn't protrude from the back of it's case, dual SIM's, a larger display, a more powerful battery, device connectivity which is universal (except for iPhone accessories), iris recognition as well as facial (an iPhone X fail) and fingerprint. Not to mention it's display isn't scarred by a ridiculous cutout. If that's your real concern go ahead and buy the iPhone X. You may have to wait awhile since Apple has serious vendor and supply issues and by the time you buy the wireless charger, lighting stand, case and insurance you'll have spent around $1,650.00 USD. Apple is counting on people like you since there devices continue to lose marketshare to less expensive and better equipped Android Smartphone Devices.

I use a S7, my wife an IPhone 7. We have owned before several Samsungs and Iphones. All of them have served their purpose. The difference is the durability of the Iphones and the consistency of the software I still have as backup Iphones 5 and 5s. My S5 does not work anymore.

iPhone X is the flagship, so iPhone 8 isn't that great because they wanted as many selling points for the more expensive one. It's the same with Samsung, like their Galaxy A phones which have low end chipsets, or their TVs where the new upper mid range (MU8000/9000) looks like the old high end series (KS8000/9000), but has a worse panel which is just in between the old high end ones and their mid range (MU6300/7000). At the same time, their QLEDs have all the goods and even a greater built quality with better materials and stuff like a metal remote to make you want the higher end model.

I see it differently. I appreciate the iPhone 8 and have myself an iPhone 7. It seems lucrative to just give € 200 on top to get the newest, but that's not the sense of iPhones. If you don't care about money, you can do it. If you are still going to school like me and only get € 40 a month, you should reconsider this. Before, I had an iPhone 5. I used it for 4 years, and if the battery, small screen and small storage weren't that bad, I would have used it for another year. This should all be fixed with the 7 in 128GB config. It is comparable to a car. If you buy a new one, after 3 years, it will only be worth half the money. After that the depreciation becomes less and less. With phones, this is 2 years because carrier contracts often last that long, and then people sell their old phone, it's the effect of supply and demand. After those 2 years, the longer you use it, the more money you save when compared to buying a new one. The smartest move is of course to get a 2 year old one from a relative where you know that it is good quality, and then use it as long as possible. But I'm so interested in tech that every couple of years, I just get the newest available. But this will be the last time I'm doing that because I'm 16 years old and soon enough, I will be able to gain money myself without having to worry about school, and THEN I will do it like you. And I know this isn't smart, I'll just do it because phones are my passion, but I wouldn't recommend it to most people.

Ip8 is worth the upgrade for those not waiting for iphone x. Why? 1. Glass back enables wireless charging, 2. The A11 bionic with the new GPU gives new possibilities and ensures support for the future, 3. the better cam with OIS, and other things, just READ instead of listening to all the apple haters who love to comment on iphones they dont know anythign about. A quick calculation shows that the cost of upgrading to ip8 is very small, a year-old iphone 7 is worth more than a slightly used Galaxy 8, you get a lot of your money back and the cash you have to add to afford the iphone 8 is small. After that you have another phone that retains its value well, you can still upgrade to iphone 9 next year and having lost less money than those who do ONE upgrade from Note 8 to Note 9. This is Apple world, we get good money for our old stuff when upgrading. Just go for it.

Other companies did increase their pixel counts , then they saw sense and reduced them too, You don't want to over cram a small sensor with huge amounts of pixels , yes images would be bigger but bigger isn't always better. The image noise would be disgusting

Okay what's Samsung done that's dramatically groundbreaking, don't say the "Edge Screen" which was a gimmick from the start, Remember the Multi Window feature on the galaxy S4 worked the same as the assistant menu on the S6 and so on, Did the S4 need the edge screen for that feature? This is why Samsung dropped the Multi Window feature on the S5 because it was no use on the S4, so what they did was Reinvented the Multi Window feature with a bent screen and now everything is okay it's the "Future"

Where is the page for the iPhone X? No interest in the iPhone 8/8 Plus. The X will have 5.8" display with the physical dimensions of a 5" Pixel. The $1000 iPhone X for me. Get it to celebrate iPhone's 10 years and influence. I don't even like iOS but respect iPhone for what it did. Planning to use the X with my Pixel. The more phones I use concurrently, the longer they all last because the work I do I need 3 phones with me and I can kill battery fast on each of them.
