BenQ-Siemens SL91 - User Reviews

  • Guys, i was the owner of one sl91, i was the best phone ever, best looking and certainly the best of the siemens phones. I bought it very cheap from a guy that didnt know what he had, and after a few monts sold it. but till today i regreat for this phone. the only thing i can say is that i saw one on ebay and wanted to buy it again. But still no luck, because they dont ship to my country. So, will keep loking for one ;-)

  • i love benq siemens and it is very sad dat it doesnt wxist anymire=(((((((((((( i wish they at least release benq siemens black box=))

  • omg this phone is so expensive in latvia its 290-400 ls :D

  • This phone is Cancelled.

  • I only see this phone on internet,I could not find it in many countries I have been to. Any way nothing is like the original siemens and not Benq and not any.....

  • Yes thats true.... very sad.

  • The design... very interesting...

  • it's so sad that siemens doesn't exist any more! :(

  • that is the best! that is my first choice. SIEMENS has the best design & price

  • I live in Denmark, and we dont have that phone here... Im so sad about that because for the first time I saw this phone on the internet I just felt in love with the design... They said that it would come to denmark october 2006 but it never did... I hope they will start selling those types of phones in europe again....:(

  • i`m a siemens user ..i used the sl75 and the 2 others befor it .. am in love with that style as far as i know .. the only phone i ever seen who can put a ring tone for a msg to each one in ur phonebook..and miss calls and ect all 100 now its 10 !! y :(

  • mmd, did you notice BenQ Mobile bankrupcy in 2006 ? ;-)

  • one Bemq-Siemens SL 91 b new to Australia tank

  • 0ne Benq-Siemens SL 91 to Australia

  • cominig soon means when we will build time machine in 2708 we will return backwards to 2006 to bring it And then we will return returned whit this phone back to 2078... aha !

  • That phone reminds me of Duke Nukem Forever, lol

  • what's that mean? "Coming soon" 2006 !!!!!!!! ?????

  • Hello everybody, that's my first post here, and sorry for my not good english...I recently became a SL91 ownerLucky meAnyway,I have 2 questions(for now): 1.Does SL91 have A2DP profile?I've read many times on internet that it has,but I have Plantronics Pulsar 590 stereo headset.I used it without problems with many other phones.I pair it with SL91,then click "Connect",and the phone and headset are connected. Then I start the Music player, and the music sounds from the phone speaker only.No sound in the headphones. In the Player menu there is no option "Play via bluetooth headset" or something like that....Anyone who have the phone can help me? 2.My phone has BL_R9_6394_0 bootloader,SVN 10, firmware name SL91_uk-UKRetail-PostPay_10_0023 Of course I tried to update the firmware,I downloaded 2 different de_BRDHAndel v18 and v22 3Gswup. I start the process,it say "backing up BRT",then "backing up CVN" and then process stops - "Error during backing up CVN".I tried again, restarting the PC,and the phone, same message with both firmwares....Please someone can explain what goes wrong?

  • 1 Benq-Siemens SL91 from Australia

  • it's really sad this would have been a best seller by BQS IMHO,no retail units just some prototypes at ebay

  • I just bought the sl75 and before that one the sl55, i must honestly say i'm in love with them! and then i found out about the sl91 and immediately wanted to have it, but oops! i read everywhere production's cancelled...and i ask WHY?? WHY??? it would have been a great phone to get!! but seriously, does anybody know why it got cancelled?

  • I wish it could get on the market one day. Because it's seem something that will never be! too bad. i am lookng for a quite small and pretty phone, and they are not a lot like that... This one and maybe the 7373. That's all. And i don't care for the thin phone, they just broke into my pocket !

  • dose any 1 have this phone ?????

  • the back of the fones is so thick!!!!

  • Not that fam0us brand but very go0d quality nice ph0ne

  • this is the best phone i've ever tried. It is so softy camera is great sound is high quality and have a lot functions, i recomend it to everybody who wants a phone all in one

  • the production was not halted. it sells pretty well in asia. i saw other models than those on gsmarena, sold on asian market. The market share in romania is also rising. it has a bunch of interesting models. like s81 slim 3g, ef 81 slim clam shell 3g with aluminium &magnesium, and ef91, 3.2 mpixels, autofocus and hspda. The prices are incredible low. for this 3 3g models the prices are betewen 100 and 130 euro.

  • It's so fat!

  • I just saw two phones were added to the BQ-Siemens list.. why is that? I thought production of phones were halted. Whats up wit that?

  • Only a 1000 were made according to Benq Mobile. Some where sold in small batches in Eastern Europe while others where sent out as test units (probabely your one)... the rest well they sat in the storage in Germany and where given as parting gifts to all the retrenched workers of Benq Mobile. So if you saw one in NY I say you are talking crap because : a) It is a UMTS device and is as such not supported by most of the North American networks, and b) It doesn't have the 850 frequency (North America).

  • hallo everybody, I have the SL91. But i yhink that it was a testphone while sometimes the phone went off by himself and the bluetooth is asking for a code and whem you put 0000 the phone went off.So a few software bugs. Its a nice phone. The batery is bad, you have to charge batery every day. I payed a lot of money ( more than 400 euro )for the phone, littel bit disapointed. If

  • BenQ cameras on mobiles ae teh best, teh proof is the BQS S88

  • 1 of them is sold in Belgrade. U can check out pictures of it on

  • BenQ and Siemens phone cameras are the worst out of all camera phones in picture quality and clearity.

  • yo..IT DID COME OUT...but not many..ive seen it being 3times..once on ebay(real phone actually worked went for 600) and ive seen it when i was in new york 2 times. It did come out!

  • Why why!?!?! Dam good looking phone too :( guess I'll have to wait for another phone like this one

  • If that phone came out in July 2006 as it was supposed to, it would make huge sales. Shame it didnt and never will possibly...

  • Cancelled lo-o-ong time ago :/

  • The phone was made... well a few amount.. I know two people who have one and who arent working for BenQ... The phones makes you wanna make love to it.. Its just that sexy... I dont know where they got them from, they wont tell me but all I know is I'm tryin to find one! Someone in the world has a couple stashed in their backroom....

  • WowOwo come onnnnn Benqqq

  • cancelled

  • I talked to a guy that works at Siemens... and he said the phone isn't all that...So I'm def. not going for it if their own workers dont even like it...

  • can't wait!

  • No more waiting.... F this phone and all B&S company .

  • this thing is taking forever to come out! benq sucks!!!

  • Strange...It is already out in Latvia and cost about 450 euros. Brilliant design and very good features especially 3,2 mpx camera!!!

  • man F this phone , aint waiting for this crap anymore. They took for ever and is still not out. Siemens sorry , Benq you have allways sucked !!!

  • It's got nothing to do with any Samsung, you obviously did not bother to read SL91's descriptio & specs... Anyway Samsung is waaaay beyond this beauty. Pitty they closed the company so it will never see daylight! :(

  • this phone is an exact replica of samsung e860 but i'm sure it is cheaper. It does not have the same features but the the same structure of the outside.

  • Is this phone going to be launched in Singapore anot??? I never get this phone anywhere. Waited damn long until I decided to get 7390 eventually. But come to think of it, by the time they launched this phone, think the technology also outdated already.

  • Benq and Siemens have gone their separate ways. It is most likely that all the "coming soon" cell phones will be scraped, and unless Benq and siemens come resolve their differences, or someone buys the remains of the company out it is highly possible coming soon as some one said already, is "NEVER"

  • Hahaha... BQS S91 aka blackbox is just being passed by Apple iPhone. Well well i think they really need to "clean up" their marketing division.. Still BQS is having HOPE, Apple "forget" to add 3g. Adding HSDPA and Radio with Linux as the OS, believe me people will moving their eyes from the "amazing" iPhone to "Hopefully" S91...

  • "Comming Soon" try never - When will this phone ever be released??? BenQ catch a wakeup!

  • Great phone !

  • Can anyone who has tried this phone say how good the call quality is? I have a Nokia 6230i, which picks up tons of background noise when I'm anywhere but in the quietest places. People I'm talking to always complain about it. The microphone on the Nokia is just so sensitive. Will this phone be better because it's a slider? Does it place the microphone closer to the mouth and therefore not have to be as sensitive? And just in general does anyone know how the call quality is on this? Thanks.

  • for all you guys out there who are pretty much curios about this one. they already have a review of this mobile set on . but the problem is that it is in russian you guys have to translate it with the help of SYSTRAN or other translating software. another thing i must say i used to a devoted SIEMENS user but face the reality there phones are excellent in hardware but most of the time with crappy and unstable software and the worst of all the battery. as far as i am concerned battery of this one would be no different. good luck. sale will start probably on JANUARY. good and MARRY X-MAS

  • so lucky of you! i relly want to see this phone out for real, COME ON BenQ!

  • Just got his phone, my brother got a test unit for a review but the phone is basically up to production specifications. It is amazing, the feel of the phone is great and the display is fantastic. My battery last about 2 1/2 to 3 days with a far amount of usage. Camera is great... pity it does have a flash. Would have been nice when going out clubbing. The music play has great audio clarity but isn't the best in the biz. One bad thing though is that the desk stand is pretty light and moves a lot on any surface when trying to take the handset out. My friends hate me for having such a cool and exclusive phone:)!

  • This phone would have given the momentum to save BenQ Siemens, it looks beautiful. January release date apparently?

  • This phone is fetching high bids on eBay, mostly former employees of Benq selling. Still no launch date? Don't want to pay $600+ for a phone that will be launched.

  • On several Siemens forums they mention January 2007 as a possible date of availability

  • Hey checkout this site The price for benq-siemens SL91 is only 120$. i cant beleive dis. a huge difference.it may be a fraud.Anyhow what can i say. i wana buy it but dont trust this site.....

  • there is one SL91 being auctioned on ebay. the price so far with 4 more days to close the auction is over USD 800!!!too expensive..thats why i decided to buy the K790a...could not wait any longer and won't pay that amount

  • Hi I log on to this site everyday thinking the Coming Soon will have changed to Available. What is happening here as I cannot wait any longet and may be tempted to choose another brand?

  • I also want this phone and it has been released in the UK, only problem is that ive heard BenQ has gone bust. I hear that this part of Siemens is no longer so it would be hard to get hold of this little number!

  • wtf?? siemens shot themselves in the foot when they teamed up with benq...benq? even the name sucks...

  • some people on this forum announced that the SL91 was available for 295 Euros ?!! For what I saw on this site was it a whole lot more than 295,- see for yourself

  • I want this phone but it is not yet arrived in Macedonia!

  • if this phone came out on july 06..should it be availible now? answer me please!

  • Benq is cancelling New phones for European marked (Althrough some few countriesm may get the Sl91 but dont count on it) Benq want to only focus on Asia and phone will be called "Benq" not benq-siemens. This is the news as i have read it i hope is not true but we all now benq-siemens situation right now. If you lucky to find a Sl91 get it it will be probaly be canceled and phones that has been put on sale will be withdrawed and canceled. Its sad news but No more Benq-siemens in Europe. however if you live in asia you are asured to get good benq phones.

  • only for 295 Euro ??? is this right ? I saw prices on the internet for 799$ ??? 295 is real cheap no ?

  • It's available in my country (Serbia) as from novenber the 14th for 295.- EUR Some live photos here:

  • @Todes where do you live, are you in Asia? it's very great price for a phone like this!

  • hi yes this phone is still coming out and should be in stockist like e2save and carphonewarehouse in the uk in november

  • this phone is out, and im my country cost 300 euros, so its same as k800, phone look grat and i can wait to buy it

  • i really wonder if dey wil be cancel dis model or wat, cos its be ages now, n there isnt a sound coming out frm BS, n dey splited, so is dis fone stil gonna come out?

  • finily a good phone from siemens in sl series

  • My first few phones were Nokia, and my first Siemens phone was the SL56 which I kept longer than any other phone. I ended up switching to the Black Motorola Rzr (cause they promised it was a limited edition phone) and ended up paying hundreds of dollars when the phone came out, to then have the phone drop to $50 or free with some companies. The Siemens phone have never disappointed me with their unique & small styles, and reception. Don't really care about the quality of pictures because I have a digital camera for taking quality pix, the camera phone would just be for fun. GREAT JOB SIEMENS!

  • Does anyone knows where can I find the Siemens SL91 user guide?

  • Novermber, 4th has come - are there any updated news? Will they lauch this mobile in southeast Asia?

  • Hi, Which store and which country is stocking the SL91? All I keep hearing and reading that everyone is cancelling there orders for all benq siemens mobile phones!!! And anyone with any stock are selling them off at bargain basement price like Phones 4 U selling EF81 for 99 sim free!!!!! Still hope the SL91 does manage to get to UK shores because I'd really love one and also I hope somehow that this is not the end of Siemens mobile because what choice will we have apart from Nokia, Samsumg, Motorola and LG which I just do not like. Panasonic and NEC are merging there mobile phone divisions to I hear! Anyway fingers crossed for the SL91 :) Cheers now

  • check the video out. Our first store stock is already sold in advance. we will be receiving the rest after its released due to backordering.

  • -- This is a comment to "william" with the K800iand K750i sony handsets. There is a MAJOR difference in the camera quality. looking at it on your mobile phone screen probably wont show any significant difference, but put them on PC or print them out then try saying that comment again. i got rid of my k750i as soon as i noticed the improvement.

  • S88 had better camera than K750i. It is highly likely that Sl91 will have a better camera than K800i. But before making a comment,. its better to let the phone be released.

  • first of all i want to correct some mistakes: 1:"cybershot" is a feature and interface/os of a digital camera from sony, and not a lens, sony uses either sony lens optical and carl-zeiss vario-tessar/sonnar lens for their line ups of their high performance digital cameras,.. mostly the W,H,P,T-series has carl-zeiss lens and all of those have rendered a nice images produced using that lens... carl-zeiss proved to be a good lens with good sharpness, canon beats it with it's lens but in style, features and price canon is beaten by sony like a pulp... i dont think n90 becomes bad with using carl-zeiss lens, mostly this must be attributed to the bad sensor used by nokia, even in n73 i dont know why putting car-zeiss lens doesn't mean it will boast overall perforance of the camera, it is a joint work of a Good imaging lens(sharpness), good imaging sensor(bright, natural colors), and a fast and reliable imaging processor(fast and outstanding imaging), that's what K800 got two of the three, while nokia only got one.. autofocus is already a nice addition to this luxurious phone...

  • The newspaper today claims that Asus or HTC are in talks with benq mobile to buy siemens mobile.

  • being an avid SE fan I happen to own the K800i/K750i, while the results on both are fantastic, the K800i disappointed me. Just because it contains a cybershot feature with xenon flash does not mean anything, I compare contrast to my K750i and I can't tell the difference in colours, the N90 also proved a huge disapponiting 2mp regardless of the Carl Zeiss optics which were a naive marketing ploy to force people to buy a brick behemoth of a phone. So again, the name means squat unless you have a sample.

  • Comparing the SL91's camera to the SE K800 and Nokia N73 is like comparing apples with oranges. The K800 uses sony's cybershot camera lens and the N73 uses a Carl Zeiss lens, so technically speaking, those phones will take far better pics than an otherwise "normal" camera lens. Try comparing the SL91's camera to another "comparable" camera and see what the results are on that.

  • Andy Burgin, the guy who posted the comment about camera not up to scratch, do not believe what others say unless you have concrete evediece such as sample pictures, other yet do not believe what others say, period. I back that statement by saying I do not believe you either so it's best not to jump to conclusions as you've not tested it, so how do you know and whay jump to rash conclusions. Besides a prototype means it ain't the final version too.

  • This will spark up some serious competition, back the the good ole hay days of classic siemens phones, remember the classics such as the SL45i/S45/SX1 and SL55 slider. Now Siemens is back and kicking back, but with BenQ. Watch out Nokia/Samsung/Motorola/SE

  • Release date for this phone will be November 2006

  • this is quite long time from announcing date, did Benq-Siemens update any news about this phone?

  • is has been said that it is $799.99 in the usa. so convert this ans that is the price of the phone.

  • and what about the bluetooth version in this mobile ,,

  • BENQ-Siemens can get back on track with this phone... When Benq joined Siemens Nokia said "two hens dont make an eagle..." Im waiting to see this phone but im not sure why I havent seen an advert on TV yet...Nokia will eat thier words if this is a hit

  • hey there every1. can sum 1 pls tell me a ruf estim8 price 4 this fone? im livin in oz and im prayin that its released here, but i want to get a price so i no wot im in 4. thanks guys n galz, gsmarena.com ROX!!!

  • BenQ Mobile end of the story for Siemens!!!

  • My mate a worked saw the SL91 an was really impressed with its looks i got home from work an get my monthly mobile magazine WHAT MOBILE an its tested the camera on this pro type model of the SL91 an they say BenQSiemen have alot of work to be done to make this camera compete with the K800i or N73,the photos were dull an made every photo give it a eerie look so just hope they get the camera really improved or BenQ will have to realise taking over Siemens does not help there get there mobiles sales booming

  • Sad part is that its battery life will be poor. I am comparing it with another Benq-Siemens model to be more fair. And the EL71's appling battery life is actually more than the SL91. Quite sad. Should at least be able to last 3-4 days on light use.

  • Just seen this phone advertised on the Carphonewarehouse website as "Coming Soon, November 2006" which is great news. Still may wait for the EF82 to come out as it has been rumoured over the net!

  • Guyz know what. i see the best design in a multimedia phone at this time.. very sleek, and very feature-packed.. putting flash in this phone is will simply destroy it's elegance, though autofocus is there so, it's a good camera phone and a stylish phone,.. SE has also their phone with design similar to it, i think... the Z610... though it's features are reath-taking, camera can match samsung's D900, SE's K800, Nokia's N93/73.. but all in all, this simply surpasses other brand's design i admit...

  • What a great-looking phone, and with very good features! At last,a descent handset from BQS.I wish when it comes out the firmware is stable and bug-free(as possible...)

  • Hi MMZ2, Siemens was the first slide phone maker not samsung. Samsung is making a lot of slide phones. Siemens os now BENQ_SIEMENS is the best. You can better stay by Samsung, I will always buy a Siemens. The best phone from Siemens will still be SX1. I'm glad they didn't copy SX1. But you never know

  • This phone has it all. This is what a good phone company does. Takes the best from the best and combines them and also ads something new. It takes touch sensitive keypad from LG and improves it, it takes tke 3.2 MP camera from SE K800 (without the flash but ho cares), it takes the 16 million color display from some phones that are very very expensive (siemens and benq-siemens always had the best price - performance ratio), it takes the slider design from Samsung (they only make sliders, they should know something about them) and adds inovative features and design. Have you people seen where the camera for video calling is? Its adapted with the keypad. There isn't a phone in the world that can match it!

  • Forget about the big bulky Nokias and funny looking SEs. This phone tops it all!!! I thought it will take something special to change from my D600....This phone is just too persuasive.....Hope GSM arena does a review on this phone. Great looking phone with good features. Couldnt ask for more.

  • thi loks, style, colour, surfasefinish, features, innovation, feel, perfection! close to spactacular! meeting the picky demands of the fussyest tasebuds...GRAB this soon as its out, feel BAAAD!! id nickname this a Cute GangStar! no flash who cares how many of u actually ever took pictures ov dark corners with flash...16.ooo.ooo.colour display is actually unique reality,3g callin, innovative tauchpanel,3.2 mp autofocuss,mp3-4s,radio,micro sd expander, battery 2day no hassle ...and so on and so on and FINALLY they represent REALMADRID respect BenqSiemens shd employ me for honest marketing

  • my very first phone was a siemens c45...even though i have moved on to other brands i still watch to see what new things benq-siemens comes up with. i am very impressed with this phone. it seems that they are finally turning the corner and becoming very attractive once again. love the features as well as the eye catching design...creating "chocolate-like" buzz, but with clearly a better phone. now, if they can continue to improve the ui and make it much more stable and functional, benq-siemens will surprise alot of people. kudos for coming out with this phone...the e71, e81, and definitely the sl91 will turn lots of heads this year!

  • this phone is sooooooooo cute i could jus eat it, its so smal and cute.

  • Its a phone... Not a digital camera...The camera is a secondary function -go eat a walrus

  • AS far as I am aware the SL91 IS compatible with UK networks and WILL be released in the UK. Good news!!!

  • product will be offered in uk!

  • I think this phone looks amazing like u have all said but can i tell u all, it doesn't have flash and i have had night mode on previous phones and was disapointed, i dont get why they have made this phone so amazing with the looks and not put flash on it,

  • ive heard, sl91 might not be out in the uk, as its not compatable with local networks, which upsets me a LOT! could someone aducate me on that being true or false please. tnx

  • This phone is so beautiful!! I just cant wait 4 November!! Its to long!!

  • Does anyone knows if this phone will be available in the usa too or only for europe? I really want this phone, especially the docking station rocks!

  • A full tecnology device for a stylish & elegant cellphone

  • I think this phone is a next generation of SL75, and it is a wonderful phone!

  • Why always target beautifull phones to ladies? Is just like to say that a porsche is a women's car! Plain stupid! And about the flash, who really needs it?, thinking like this is what gives us awfull phones like n80!

  • according to the flash topic .. i should suggest that in a cellphone designed in case of being compact and stylish ... battery size is a big deal ... and having a flash on the device consumes too much of battery energy and definitly needs a big battery ...so forget the flash !! expect more off a cellphone rather than a camera from these kinda devices ! camera is a secondry role for them !

  • I really like this fone My last fone was a Samsung E700 when the screen went bust... OK, so no flash? i can live with that, its not like i'm gonna take pix of a dark corner. think of all the features tho, 16 Million Colour Screen! 3.2MP Camera! Video Call/3G!! and an awesome design/shape. i am soooo hanging out for this phone to come out in Australia. Does anyone know a rough ozzie price for it? i wanna know if i can afford it when it comes out. hope so, this phone has to be the best combination of features on the market currently. toodles good people. drunkmunky27

  • dis fone is COMPLETE perfecto, supremo featurewise, desighwise, innovationwise its gonn smash da market best so far and all dis bul** talks about flash not being there tell me how many ov u's acshly av pics taken in da dark wit flash in ur fone...keep admirin not hatin

  • i used to love and have SE phones in camera, music, functionality line but now i don't favor K800 be better nowadays because the hardware feature limits are simply big for me, benq-siemens have also outstanding cameras but needs equipment not a xenon flash only but LED and xenon in one... i like the design of SAMSUNG z710 and EF91 and this. hated K800's design i'm disappointed of that...

  • Just for the record, Andrew... I think flash is unecessary in a phone like it too... I'm a student of Fashion, and I make a college work about cellphones design... I love beautiful phones, a led flashlight is not enough for a 3.2mp camera, not a heavy Xenon-Flash... What about the elegant and Beautiful design? Your opinion have counted a lot for me... And, if you do not mind, mail-me!

  • i agree...this is a better phone than the K800..although i have one!! because of the design..

  • there is no flas..and there ain't gonna be any flash...if u wan't one buy an external flash "which is decent BTW"....so live with it!!! i think this phone deserves a rating of 10 design 9 features "coz o' the flash thingy!!" .. performance coz it's just stupid to rate performance when it's not out yet..lol

  • i also think that a flash would've been good...but i'm not gonna let a stupid thing like that to stop me from gettin it...coz i AM gettin it as soon as it comes out. so ok the K800 has flash...but to say the truth it's an ugly phone especially from the side ugh...the SL91 has the features and the looks to go with it ;-)

  • OOOOOOOOHHHHH dear God! I cannot believe that a flash will put this phone on trash... This is a female phone: slim, small and light! Why put an Xenon-Flash whose weight is 23g in a little phone like it! If you want a flash, buy a flash! You guys do not understand nothing aout design... Besides, LED flashlight suck. I hope that the people who is giving a low rate for the phone, understand the construction of the phone, because none engineer is stupid... This phone have a especific pourpose... If u want a Great cam with flash, buy a k800... If you want nice features and design overall, buy SL91 ( of course, wait for the release)!!! That is all, I hope you end this discussion... Man, i will buy a K800, but I have to admit that SL91 is a great phone and I have rated it 10/9/9.

  • I think this phone is now the most streamlined, of all phones. I hope, i will spy this phone in Lithuania market soon. Very good display, design, polyphonic and camera.

  • Yes, this phone deserves a proper flashlight, better then just a cute little LED lamp. i hope Benq-Siemens will give her a built-in Xenon flashlight.

  • Oh maaan the flash(?!) Ofcourse that there is no little funy torch-light (LED lamp) built in, BECAUSE THIs CAMERA DESERVES BETTER THEN THAT. A proper external flash (like IFL-600) will be available!

  • Here is the back view: The front view: I thought its kinda chunky as well.

  • This phone REALLY caught my eye. such a shame its not out till november though =S I agree with most people here about the flash! thats a slight let down. it does say that there is a night time mode with it which will suit darker conditions, but i doubt it will serve as good as a flash does. i love the design but from looking at pictures taken from the side view, does it appear a little too chunky at the back???? just a thought. rach xx

  • Saw some pictures of the back..couldnt locate any flash.hmmm.

  • BS should learn from SE. SE gives K800 a built-in Xenon flashlight. :)

  • Led flash has no value. You can only take pictures from 1 meter, if you have a led flash soen't help to much to take pictures at night...

  • the pad tech. are alike, but basicaly different... so..its BS's New Tech... btw, about copy phone.....I think Nokia more like copy phone.......don't have any beauty with all the phone they'd released... LG? pretty cute....but however, compares to all mobil phones we know that siemens mobile phone have high rate.....and it started from old age....it's so pretty of siemens to release SL91.... btw, for design....still I LOVE SX1...#1 side-keys mobile phone

  • FLASH????? Where is the FLAAASSHHH???? Guys what are you going to do with a camera with no FLASH?? even the oldest camera phones got flash. MOe and Galiza are right.

  • 3.2MP, autofocus, mmm... where is the flash?, :S It is not easy for me to understand this lack. Maybe in the SL92 :) 9/10

  • I have a KG800... I like it very much. But i can't agree that SL91 is a copy of KG800. LG was one of the latest's brands who have improved their phones, but Siemens is a "elder" brand, so SL75 came first. SL91 is a improved SL75, not a improved Chocolate. You guys, discussing phone design: No brand copy design from other brand. Every brand have their own "charm". Just one more thing: Touch-sensitive keypad... it's the same thing to discuss touchscreen display.

  • very good phone. there is everything except of wi-fi. i think sl91 will better then n80.

  • A phone so advanced MUST have a flast. I don't see the point of having 3.2 MB camera with no flash?????????

  • the facts: 1. BS SL91's design is an advanced version of Siemens SL75 (combined with BS EF81 platform). so the design of SL91 is a copy from their own SL75's design. 2. SL91 is not KG800. LG KG800 uses touch-sensitive pad reacting to the electro-conductivity of a person's skin, while Siemens SL91 uses Force-Sensing Resistor (This way the SL91 touchpad keys can be used even with gloves, it's impossible for the KG800). 3. Nokia 8110 is not a 'real' slider phone, N8110 is a candybar phone w/ slide-cover to protect its keypad (). Siemens SL10 is the first phone that uses slider form factor (a form where the two halves of the phone slide together) :)

  • wonder how's e video quality of tis fone? any1 can tell me is it in vga or cif resolution n wat's e frame rate?

  • ANy one know when its coming to AUstralia? AWESOME PHONE: 9/10 (it loses the one for the batteryu life :) but in m=not fused thats why they invented CAR CHARGERS :) :)

  • Hi Everbody, How can this phone be a copy when it looks like SL75 only that it have a pressure sensitive touchpads and they are different from the one LG Chocolate is using. This technologie is maybe invented by Siemens and not LG. Remember the touchpads that through laser come on the table from your phone, also Siemens.

  • Let me point out that the touchpads on the LG Chocolate and BQS SL91 are different. While the LG uses heat-sensitve technology, the BenQ-Siemens is pressure-sensitive. This means that the touchpad on the SL91 is somewhat better as it can be used with gloves, etc.

  • it's not siemens diesign. it's 100% copy Phone. No EXCUSE

  • Now I see that two devices smashed SE K800: BS SL91 and Nokia N73! The display of SL91 must be BRILLIANT!

  • @ Dali ======= Why are you over reacting? Who said I DIDN'T like BenQ-Siemens??? It's just the plain obvious truth that like the RAZR, LG Choclate is another trend-setter, and BenQ-Siemens has incorporated SOME features of it into THIS phone. The sleek glossy finish and especially the touch-pad are very alike. Other than that it is MUCH better than the choclate, no doubt about that! Can you live with that? Just chill, dali, for crying out loud.... Harlekkin

  • Hi Everbody again, This phone SL91 looks like SL75 only much better, so how can it be like LG choclate. Everybody who doesnt like Siemens phones or has something bad to say about Siemens phones should stay by Nokia,LG,SE,Samsung. I will buy this phone, no matter how much it will cost.

  • LG choclate (KG800)...just better =================================== Asians like to copy ideas a bit more straight-forward. And the fact that this is a slide-phone has nothing to do with it. So yall, look closer, compare the LG KG800 in the way it was designed and you'll see many similarities... no doubt about it. The look and feel, though more rounded, is very much alike the KG800...the LG Choclate. Just look at the touch-pad - it works the same! Sleek and hidden away, activated by the warmth of your fingers. The features rock LG's world though. Better color display, better camera, memory card slot etc. That's taking the flaws out of a great LG mobile...and making it better. That's the SL91! Obvious...but well done! Harlekkin

  • i rate this phone 10/10

  • The the 8110 wasn't a true slide phone in the way that this was. The slide was only a plastic keypad cover. In fact it wasn't the first phone with this feature. There was an Alcatel phone with a slide cover released about a year before it.

  • Siemens SL-10 wasn't the first slider NOKIA 8110 was, althoug SIEMENS SL10 with SIEMENS S10 were phone's with the FIRST color screens.

  • To Reg: it's very simple to use... I have a S88 and always had siemens phones... the system works great and quick. I can't wait to have one SL91

  • that's not slide... 8110 have a "keyboard protector" =)... SL10 have slide design.

  • Hi Everybody, I hate the one that say Nokia 8110 was the first slider. Look at the picture before you say things like that. Siemens was the first slider SL10. You don''t know the different between a real slider. I'm glad they didn't try to copy Siemens SX1. The best phone ever, hope BENQ-SIEMENS will make SX2.

  • after a few experience w others, siemens' slide mechanism is e BEST! no doubt w tat!! : D

  • The SL10 was released in either 1998 or 1999. The nokia 8110 slider was released 1996. Siemens may have been the first to use colour but it was definately not the first to use a slider. I'm not saying that I don't like Siemens, different brands have different qualities and different niche markets. To tell you the truth, my favourite mobile from all time, and the one I will continue to use is the SX1, unless an SX2 comes out. This phone is just the right size and has every feature you could ever need!

  • What an eye catching phone. I'm due a free upgrade so I was thinking about the Nokia N73 or the SE K800i, might just wait for this beauty now though. Never had a Siemens phone before so know nothing about how they operate. Had Nokias before until I went Motorola 2 years ago, currently on a V635. Is the Siemens operating model anything like Nokia or Motorola?

  • On the BenQ Siemens website it says its coming out in Nov 2006

  • Battery life with 3.5 hours talk time is just so not a business phone. Improve it, siemens!

  • O man this phone looks so damn cool. Hopefully it comes out soon. Can wait til it comes out

  • Still in this discussion?? OMG, i can't stand this... It is a beautiful phone, that's all! no brand copy design from another brand... each one have his own... I want one, no matter how much it will cost!!!

  • The SL91 is a Siemens design, not a BenQ design. It was one of Siemens' projects before BenQ acquired the mobile unit; BenQ only finalised it for production. It uses a Siemens user interface. So in other words, BenQ had hardly anything to do with the development of this phone. The SL91 is a bona fide Siemens. And a bloody fantastic one at that.

  • guys...remember this First Rugged phone -> Siemens S10 Active in 1998 First colour screen phone -> Siemens S10 in 1998 First WAP phone -> Siemens S25 in 1999 (WAP version 1.0) First Slider phone -> Siemens SL10 in 1998 First Phone with MP3 -> Siemens SL45 in 2000 First phone with MMC -> Siemens SL45 in 2000 First Phone with Java -> Siemens SL45i in 2001 (early 2001) First Phone with Flash Camera (camera attachable with Flash inbuilt) -> Siemens S55 in 2002 First Smartphone with Hot Swap MMC, MP3 and Radio all built in -> Siemens SX1 in 2003 First 3.5G phone (HSDPA) -> BenQ-Siemens EF91 in 2006 ;)

  • Siemens invested 250 million euros and wrote off assets amounting to 100 million euros before transferring the mobile phone subsidiary to BenQ. Siemens also acquired a 2.5% stake in BenQ for 50 million euros. So, there's a possibility that this slider phone is still using Siemens Mobile technology.

  • Asalamoalaikum hi hello... i like siemens first but siemens done a very poor job all the time now i have sonyericsson from 2 year but this is phone is really catching and full of rich features i think only lack of battery time and talk time because sony gives a very good battery time and talk time and realy very fast opreation what about this phone is this phone is also a fast opreating system or just like nokia or samsung... a very nice looking thing really everything is ok i think in the feature menu but i have not use this hope it will take benq higher like sonyericsson but now sony is a king in all fields ALLAH HAFIZ bye

  • I've read from news paper this company phone cause brain damage!!so guys Watch out!

  • Benq-Siemens is one of chinese capy company with thick skin. It's not come from Siemens. Crap.

  • list of all Siemens SL** slider phones:

  • Hi Everybody, Siemens was the first one with a slide phone not nokia.Siemens made one misstake to wait so long before they made sl65. Thats why Samsung came with D500 and it was a great succes. Now samsung is making a lot of slide phones. But is not fair, Siemens should be the best slide phone maker not Samsung, Nokia, SE. I think with SL91 Siemens will be on the top again.

  • I love everything about this phone, the 3.2 megapixel camera is brilliant and the VGA video camera is very nicely placed. It looks amazing, and will definitly be a super phone. However, the only minor things i have to down this phone on is that it is slightly bulky and thick, also it has no flash. Other than that it is sure to be great.

  • The first slider phone was Siemens SL10. And I think it was the first mobile phone with color screen too.

  • This looks like a great phone, pity about the flash, but I guess you can attach an external one which would end up being 100 times better than your standard LCD. Also pity that it's not a symbian either, but hey we can't have everything. To answer the slider phone question. The first slider I can remember was actually a Nokia 8110 remember the old banana phone?

  • the new SL91 would use a Force Sensitive Resistance technology which practically means that the BenQ-Siemens touchpad would react to pressure-that means that it can get turned on while keeping it in your pocket?

  • This phone is perfect! Nice design, nice specifications, high-quality screen, and it's going to use the same OS as the Siemens SXG75 and BenQ-Siemens EF81. Nice... Oh, and the 3.2 megapixels camera with auto-focus, it's going to be awesome!

  • Looks pretty much like a sliced egg with some touch sensative button on it and a horrile looking keypad inside. The other picture in closed mode is looking good because of the angle and lighing. Wait to see it on hand before you say...its the greatest looking phone guys.

  • Hi Everybody, I'm glad Benq didn't change the SL (slide) 91 to EL91, like the other slide phone EL71. Benq did change the S serie ( s65, s75) to E. I think S means SIEMENS. I hate nokia because they now have N serie (n=nokia). Why they always have to copy Siemens?? !'m glad they never try to copy SX1.Hope Siemens or BENQ-Siemens wil make SX2.

  • does anyone know weather this phone stays on GSM network although there is UMTS avalible...or it just jumps to the UMTS as SE z1010 did-it did not stayed on GSM...thanks for answers

  • i really love games... if benq siemens launch a phone like n-gage QD the landscape style and a loaded of games... all i can say WOW!!!!

  • this is a super perfect fantastic mega ultimate fastest greatest wonderful i will called it the "MEGALTIMATE PHONE" great phone!!!

  • 3.2mp with no flash? That does not add up. If a phone has 3mp, it needs a flash, no buts about it. Maybe the design came first but 3mp is a decent amount of pixels. With no flash, forget it. BenQ Siemens, please think it through properly next time. The phone could have been a clear winner but it simple doesnt flash, a camera needs a flash for goodness sake.

  • This phone is approximately perfect feature wise, But Perfect aesthestically The phone is sinply gorgeous.

  • Hi there everybody! Just wondering does anyone know if this handset is to be realised on 3G in Australia and when? Thanks heaps -xo this phone is awesome just hope it makes it onto the 3G networks in Australia xo-

  • The led flashlight really sucks... external flashlights allow great photos, especially if you get an Xenon Flash... This phone is the closest to be the perfect... I can't wait to have one... OS is the only thing that i will really miss... when this phone become avaliable, we'll see if works great or not... I trust in BenQ-Siemens, because I have a S88 and i'm very pleased with it.

  • excellent benq-siemens.

  • The comments about this phone missing the builtin flashlite... Perhaps BQS thought that this phone deserves a proper external flash, not the cheap LED lamp like other manufacturers are offering. I am using the external flash IFL-600 with my S65 and I am really pleased with it. It is a proper flash with auto-exposure, redeyes correction, etc... The built-in LED flashlites are good as a replacment for a pocket torch-lamp for finding your keys in the dark... but they have no real use when it comes to a photography! With autofocus 3.2MPix camera we can finally talk about photography... Nice job BQS! And the expected start price of 400-450 euros is not high for this piece of equipment. We will only have to wait till november.....

  • SL55 was the first beautiful designed slides phone in the market....but i think there's a samsung model earlier with the slide phone concepts. siemens phones rocks man! i loved my old s57, now i am using v3x...n motorola's firmware i gotta say......sigh.....disappointed......anyway function's cool though...i am looking to switch back to siemens when it is the right time....who knows maybe sl91 is the answer =P

  • There are some innovations; hidden 2nd camera, thin sliding screen, best in size and performance ratio... RDS radio is also first introduced by Siemens SXG75. BenQ Siemens is in the right track

  • i don't think the design its a copy of LG chocolate. the SL91 design looks a bit like Siemens SL75.

  • what a design! Siemens proves themselves that only they can make proper sliders phones! (Siemens SL10 is known as world's first sliders ) too bad, it didn't have OS, irda, and built-in flashlight.

  • It's Great Phone! Move on siemens!! Im making sl-45 to now, but no problem!

  • they don't mean the form factor the mean the desingn, the design its not original its a copy of LG chocolate. with abit less features of the n80.

  • its original. Siemens is the the first company to put slider mobiles. U can serarch for SL10 ;) . So, who is doing like who?

  • OMG, of course it is original!!! the first slide-up phone is the SL55 from siemens!!! oh my, you do not know what you're talking about... and more...NO slider phone, is auto-slide except sl75 and sl91... do not say things about you do not know... particulary, i think this is the best slider ever. Not to mention a great phone (I mean in features)

  • whats not original

  • why cant BenQ siemens they come up with original designs??

  • seems like a nice phone. if anyone has successfully used it with a mac, would like to see their opinions added. also you can post your mac experience at macandmobile.com

  • 3.2 MP camera, autofocus, but NO FLASH. what a pity

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!the battery is good like the phone????????????????????????i hope so ...............................

  • i use many siemens phs b4. they had software crash problem. and camera quality is not reliable( like O2 pda phones). If this ph still has those problem, I won't but it. and it is likely to have those problem,,

  • I think this is a great phone too. Only three drawbacks: 1) price(siemens is known for low prices but how low can this phone get?) 2) there is no flash, I thought it would be a shure thing for a mobile like this to have flash. And 3 It looks a bit thick. I know it's not that much of a problem but that's my opinion

  • 3.5 hours talk time.... oh dear, surely this wont be released with a battery that poor!

  • Well Done BenQ-Siemens !! cool features !! hope to see soon at the market

  • excellent

  • i only see one problem...it will be too expensive

  • only 3.2 mp camera!!!

  • Damn, the guys at BenQ-Siemens must have worked pretty hard to come up something as ugly as this.

  • AWESOME PHONE, small it will be a bestseller for high tech ladies. but EDGE the 850mhz band the IR and lack of a likeable OS would be a no for me. well its the camera proven to be good quality it will be my backup phone replacing my current 6131. just because its small :) but i hope the story of previous siemens feature monster and maybe will be released more than a year after announced

  • Looks nice hopefully a version with 850mhz!

  • ......16M color !!!! 3.2mp auto focus camera....video tel and more.......tanx siemens

  • This fone is so cool. The docking base idea is wicked as well and will work like a home phone with a loud speaker and lights to signify calls and text

  • o man BenQ-Siemens gonning prety fine.

  • I must have this phone :( Does enyone know when it will be avalible?I think that price will be around 500-700 Euros or more,as all new phones with similar fetures and classy design

  • oh my god, is a wonderfull phone! benQ have to gime me this phone now...... i really want this phone...

  • AMAZING design but wiyh 3.2 mpx u had to put flash

  • DAMN! Look out k8oo,n93 and z710!You've got freakin' competition!Miss the flash and IR...but DEFINITELY the best looking of the three.

  • Ive seen other pics of this and theres no flash, you cant have a 3.2mpx camera with no flash. Well now ive seen this ill stay waiting for the EF91. Nice phone nonetheless.

  • drop dead gorgeous! and that touch-sensitive keypad is crazy!!! not so good battery life, though.

  • Not just the 3.2mp cam, but the 16m display and the gorgeous design... The only thing that I will not like in this phone will be the price... maybe bout US$ 500 or more...

  • This phone has a very nice design - an ALCATEL OT E260 with more features. Very good.

  • Its quite nice has good fetures but i hope siemens dont exagerete the price cose of the 3,2 Mp camera but an nice overall phone. If the price is good it will be a hit among ladies

  • this is a beauty with top class features

  • this phone really need an OS...

  • Looks great phone when is it going to be available?

  • the best phone!

  • Oh my, it is so beautiful!! anda the features is nice too... i like... but i think that this phone wil be expensive, due to features and design...

  • Coming on the heels of the RIZR the SL91 completely destroys Moto's new entry and is aiming at Samsung...look out!

  • well i am da 1st one 2 rite about dis fone...so i think i shud right sumthing good.. well da fone luks good..its really cute and i think it will b more famous 4 ladies..well da best thing about dis fon is da 3.2 mp comera..wich is kool....i think dis will b a favourite for many ppl... nways thxx......... enjoy!!!!!!!!!! cheers 2 sony erricsson n nokia lovers!!!!!!!
