BLU Life One X (2016) - User Reviews

  • This phone has great graphics and camera. This phone is cheap, but has bad ram. I would only buy this phone if you aren't aiming to game but to simply read/watch things and use social media.

  • I have tried to do a wireless update 5 times and each time it downloads , fails to unzip files. Whats up?

  • My phone just started doing this too! My phone is bent and cracked too! I'm so glad someone else has this problem. Yeah this phone is trash.

  • The power and volume buttons fell out about 6 months or a year in. My brother had this phone and had the same problem. His phone would charge for hours and not turn on. My phone now has the same problem the screen turns on and then gets scrambled and turns off. It only rarely turns on. It is honestly the worst phone I have ever used and I used an ancient Blackberry for a couple years.

  • i just upgraded my phone to Marshmallow and no issues so far. fm radio, camera, lte, wifi, gps, touchscreen, sd card: everything works fine. just a very minor issue: i cannot run the speedtest app from ookla, my only android device with this problem.

  • can some one please tellme how good this phone behavior is after the marshmallow update.

  • i have had the exact same problem currently it stopped working then turned on then charged the entire night and i took it off the charger to go do something then it just shut off but ive had my phone almost for 2 years and ive also been having other problems such as, lagging i also cracked/bent my phone (dont ask) my phone used to turn on by itself and sometimes start working on its own as if there were a ghost just using it. it could be a virus which shows that this phone lacks virus protection. so overall this phone is absolute garbage, never buy any product by BLU. theres a lot of better quality things you could buy with $200!!!!

  • the phone is not unlocked as you see on AMAZON.COM there is to options, carrier unlocked, and North American variant which is your case, so you must unlock the phone so you can use it with Jio... best of luck.

  • go into the settings, then look for the gestures that allows you to open apps, such as camera, lantern, and music drawing a letter into the screen while phone is stand by, deactivate those gestures and then power it off and on then tell me the truth hahahaha, best regards.

  • This is the best phone I've ever had. It has been flawless, even after having been dropped many times. I bought it from Amazon. I don't work for Blu or have any connection with them. I don't know why others have had problems.

  • I buy this phone from Amazon U S A this phones not working on 4G Jio.? If aneybady known for this

  • Blu products last but few months and the company would never ever replace it or repair it for you, that means you are on your own and don't spend your hard earned dollar for bad things like blu products.

  • ive had numerous BLU phones.. this one is by far the worst. Ive had it for almost 3 months, this phone wont charge, wont unlock and doesn't connect to internet at times. as of now I am not interested in any BLU phones anymore.

  • Please when is the upgtade to marshmallow for Blu Life One X coming out? Can't wait to install it on mine

  • Do no buy any blu phone they don't have a good tech support.

  • Had the same problem but BLU replaced it with no issues. My only problem is the charging time is slow.

  • This phone battery life was indeed very dissapointing and gameplay is not so smooth as you would expect of 2gb ram. (fifa 16 for example)

  • I love everything about this phone except it's battery. I can't get a day of normal use without recharging. Don't go anywhere without a charger cable and power bank!

  • I've had this phone for over 3 months. It replaced a cracked zenfone2. Overall I like this phone. Screen is clear with good color reproduction. Battery life is excellent. I can go 2 days in a charge using it regularly. I've had no issues with buttons falling off. Only negative point is the camera ;which is not as good as the one on my zenfone2. This phone is still revieed as the best value for an Android phone under $200.

  • is it possible give a link, as I try to find it in Aliexpress, don't know which one to get! TIA

  • In philippines its sold as myphone my36 have it repaired on a myphone shop or better yet just grt a new one. Its cheap anyways.

  • do not buy this phone!! too many glitches in the os! keeps restarting and won't connect to bluetooth in my new car!!

  • My power button and volume buttons both fell off 😂

  • You can order a new screen online with all of the tools to replace it yourself. I found it for about 14 US dollars, and free shipping from AliExpress

  • I had a problem where the power button fell out. I sent it back and it took the two months to send me a new one. Now this "new" phone is worse. the touch screen is inconstant. having to push harder in places to get a response and at times the touch screen goes off on it own and starts pressing buttons all over the place on the phone. This wasn't a big deal if I kept the phone clean, wiping any oils of the screen, but I CANT RECEIVE GROUP TEXTS OR IMAGES!!!. The phone is MISSING SOFTWARE AND FREQUENCIES. My brother has this same phone, not a single problem I have had. It seems that their quality control in Non existent. AND on top of all of this it just stopped working. It dose not turn on at all. I open the phone to find the battery power connector is disconnected somehow and it wont stay in place. This phone is a piece of garbage and no one should buy it. NO ONE SHOULD BUY IT!!!

  • Good phone for its price the battery is really weak. I bought this phone thinking the battery would be fine but it drains SO QUICKLY! I left it on for 5 Minutes with the screen brightness down all the way and battery saver mode on and nothing running and it dropped form %100 to %99. Also this phone takes FOREVER TO CHARGE form 0-100 it took almost a whole night 6-9 hours. but the specs are great it runs smoothly and the screen is beautiful. The camera I find is slow and over sharpened. And video playback (from system video app) is so laggy you cant even watch any video. But youtube and other video streaming apps do work perfectly.

  • So this phone is great and all but it was shipped to me with 2 little crumbs underneath the screen

  • @AllieCat55 wait only three apps.. you do realise that you can add an SD card to the phone with up to 64 GB of space.. That would add more then enough room for thousands of pics apps and video.

  • no i didn't

  • I have had this phone for about 8 months and I love it. My only complaints are that it lacks a gyroscope (for Pokemon Go VR) and ever since I started using a bluetooth watch, the battery dies quickly(lasts about 10 hours for me with around 2 hours of internet and app use, the rest standby).

  • worse phone ever. i only have room for 3 social apps a few pics, 1 video and 1 game. would not go back to this phone

  • my sister gifted this phn tovme but within 2days it starded to get heat too much n of course! Its charging point is also weak...the power get down soon n it takes so long to get 100percent charge..then it fell from ma pocjet n its screen git scattered!now it can't be maintai!wat to do?

  • Hi, did you get the power buttom fixed? Mine fell off 2 weeks ago, I thought it was just bad luck but I see many people are having this issue.

  • Hey everyone! I bought my BLU Life One X in March and it was working perfectly fine till the end of May when it suddenly, out of the blue, just stop working. It randomly shutdown once so i turned it back on and then it worked for like 5 minutes only to shutdown again, it has not been starting up since. When I plug it in only a red light appears close to the front camera. Can anyone help me what I could do? Warranty? Troubleshoot?

  • My blu life on x just fell from the bed and the entire screen just shattered. WTF No way to get it fixed. Just annoyed. Have no phone now and my country has no way of getting it fixed.

  • hey should i buy the blu life one x or the blu vivo 5?

  • it a very good phone specs are good works smooth and proper. Firstly the camera quality on the phone is very good and the front flash included take some really decent pictures and it run games like asphalt 8 very smoothly. it take very long to charge to 100%. I had my phone for 7 months then the power button falls off. then it start lagging even after factory reset. other than that its a goo phone for the price range and it come with lollipop which run smooth also. just need upgrade for marshmallow to fix the few bugs that it has.

  • when i get issues like that i power off then reboot in recovery mode (press volume up, down, and power at the same time). usually fixes it

  • I also have problems with this phone. Bought it in January 2016 and it's giving me so many problems where charging and retaining charge is concerned. Its a shame cause the phone works well when the battery is full. You cant even buy a new battery because it is built in.

  • I had the same problem, but I removed 2 apps that were always on in the background & it fixed the problem.

  • I have the SAME problem. The battery was pretty crap when I got it anyway, if it was fully charged and off the charger it could probably only take three-four hours of use. Now its only one hour of use and then I have to put it on the charger. It was on the charger for 8 hours last night and it only gained 12 percent!

  • After a few months of using the phone, the battery stopped working how it should. The phone charges really slow and sometimes discharges when connected. The battery doesn't last longer than 4 hours. I would not recomend buying this phone.

  • I bought the BlU life X 2016 model, How to change to mp3 ringtones? I am trying without success so far HELP!!!!!!!!!

  • one of the must common hardware problems on this phone is with the power/on key that after a few weeks of usage it brokes and stays inside the phone case, so annoying that happens because of a pretty cheap materials that this phone has bin built in!!

  • Yes

  • Yes, the third party keyboards are lagging. The solution is to go into Settings>Language and input. There you will find the list of keyboards you can use. Click on android keyboard. That is the keyboard your phone is designed to use. It will not be lagging. You can uninstall or disable the other keyboard applications after this step. Hope this helped!

  • What you describe is a complete scam. No app has access to the "cells" of your battery, and no app can "scan" or repair battery "cells". It's complete snake oil. Just wanted to let you know... (Google it, it's verifiable.)

  • I found an app that helped me with a poor performing battery. After the first few days I noticed the battery would discharge very fast I downloaded "Battery Repair Life" which scanned my battery and found several bad cells, it applied a fix which really helped my performance issues... still not great but 30% better than before. I did subsequent scans but the app never found any other issues or bad cells. BTW only use BLUs supplied charger and it does charge completely and very fast, usually less that 4 hrs. I get a whole day useage now but I don't make many calls and under wifi most of the day. Another tip, turn off wake gestures. It kills your power.

  • Just use the front camera and set in front of mirror. Dont use flash.

  • You get what you paid for it. It's an elegant slim phone. Nice screen quality. I been using it for 3 month now. Battery is not the best, but last 20hs with normal use like average phones. Camera isn't perfect but does well its job (im using Open Camera as always). Front camera is good, and have flash there too Its powerfull enought to don't fell ANY lag at all... even with a 1080p FullHD screen The update to marshmallow would be awsome, we all are waiting for

  • I have had this phone for almost a week now. At first the size bothered me, and the fact that there is no physical home button. I didn't realize that would bother me. Before I had an LG Volt, 4.7" with a better screen to phone ratio. The speakers are poor but audible. The battery life is unbearable. I keep it on the power saving setting... I even went to sleep late one night the battery was almost dead and I woke up at about 5:30am, the phone had been on the charger but was not fully charged. I am not used to that! I am going to try to stick it out with this phone because I bought it for only $100. Otherwise I would have gone with the Galaxy Grand Prime... Where can I buy the best, least-obtrusive, most protective case & screen cover... I want to keep the phone in good shape in case I do decide to sell it and get something else.

  • Does anyone know how to take a picture of a dead pixel. Customer service won't fix it without proof and all the pictures I take I can't see the dead pixel

  • God i know what you mean. On idle, the biggest battery consumer is "SYSTEM IDLE" and "NETWORK SCANNER" . together they consume 70% of the battery. Blu supports comment on the issue: Well when you're not using it, why not put it in AIRPLANE MODE... WHAT!? so am i to understand that Blu Products are only good if you need to make calls? forget about keeping your phone on idle to receive communications... Max achieved battery life on IDLE from 100% : 5h47m . Not even a full day... And keep in mind, for this test, NOTHING is installed. There isn't even a google account tied to it yet. simply charged it, and kept it on idle.

  • BLU- we want marshmallow, please get it to us ASAP. I still believe you can fix many of the problems enumerated by customers so far with that update.

  • It can last all day in its idle state, assuming you don't have apps open in the background. With wifi on and the screen on anything but its lowest brightness setting, you can only expect a few hours of active use out of this thing. Plan accordingly.

  • Terrible battery life. Would not buy again!

  • yes.

  • How to change ringtone

  • The phone has hotspot?

  • May i change ringtone . .in my mind

  • Only problem I have with this phone is the keyboard.....it sticks up a lot. I downloaded a new one and encountered the same problem so Im thinking its actually the touch screen. Has anyone else had this problem and if so were you able to fix it?

  • The Camera is good....i mean its not S7 good but it takes really good pics. Only issue i have with mine is that the keyboard sticks often which is very annoying.

  • This is not a good phone. Too much problems with touchscreen, batery life & charging. Not recommended.

  • Faulty phone. Not even 3 months before problems start and no refund. Phone becomes hot, functions freeze up, battery drain and customer service does not get back to you quickly.

  • Have this phone for several months now works great except for battery draining fast sometimes and my keyboard has a mind of its own sometimes, typing by itself and delete x button not working sometimes (using SwiftKey) also still can't change ring tones to custom. Anyone has a fix

  • Blu has not sent out any updates for Marshmallow for their phones as of yet.

  • there is an update OTA already but if you want to mess up all your device go ahead and doit since it has more errors than humanity itselfs

  • go into settings--->gestures------> and then verify wich one gives you the option to draw an M (for music) a C ( for the camera) and the O ( will be for the flash light) (WARNING MESSAGE!!! those are not air gestures!! are mean to be drawed on the screen of the phone while the phone is in stand by mode!

  • Performace is good but you will a lot of batery problems and charging problems.

  • have the same problem on two bodies, when I put it to charge mostly the discharges rather than charge. Also the charging port is widen and cable does not stay tied...do not consider bying

  • overcharge which is charged for about 8hrs.

  • No gyro means no google cardboard.

  • Where's the lantern ??

  • Still no Marshmallow. Shame on you, BLU.

  • i took it to the local repair man..and he said the the charging port was shorting and cause the battery to drop below its voltage...he fixed it...now its working better than before, battery wise.

  • I bought the blue life one x 2016 to replace my stolen blue studio energy. The battery life of the life one x, pales in comparison, to the studio energy...the battery life was straight awesome! Performance wise, I prefer the life one x 2016...octa core processor...mine runs seamlessly! These are the only 2 that I have had experience with. Blue hasn't let me down yet! Much luck with your decision.

  • I live in Jamaica and am planning to buy the Blu Life X 2016. Is it a good buy? I dont want regret buying it.

  • Hello. Anyone know if this phone really does not have hostspot, or is an error the characteristics? Thanks

  • can somebody tellme wich is the best option between the BLU Studio One Plus or the life one X (2016), about camera quality, heavy gaming, processor speed, and battery performance???

  • bought this phone on amazon, was great untill 3 months in...battery issues ...not fully charging, draining fast...i let it die completely den charged while it was off and it stopped and 30%...another time it stopped at 60....it eventually got worst and now it does not even turn on

  • yes

  • The Lollipop update for my Life One (2015) came a few months after blu promised. I didn't care though.

  • What do you mean by "overcharged" because you don't overcharge a phone, even when left charging overnight.

  • I have this BLU Life One X (2016). It was a gift from my father and was given to me 1st week of April. It works well until this day, I was using the phone watching a videos in facebook when suddenly my phone turns white and black strips and hung. I turned it off immediately and when i opened it strips were still there and i can't view my phone anymore. All I see is black and white strips. I haven't dropped it nor bumped it to anything. I handled it with care. The only wrong thing I did was I overcharged my phone twice already. I am from Philippines and I don't know where can I fix this because according to my researchers the phone isn't available here because my dad bought it from america. Is it a LCD problem or what? Is it worst? Can we still fix my phone? I really love this phone tho :( HELP!

  • I have this phone. Blue Life One X 2016. This was bought a months ago and yes it functions perfectly. But, today. I was just watching a funny video from facebook and it went black and white. Then i turned it off. When i opened it red, green and blue flashes yet in stripes then went black and white again. No scratch and never been fallen from the ground or what. Then this happened. Is it a LCD problem? :( i really need your answer. I took good care of it and the only bad thing i did was i over charged it once but it was last last last week ago. :( what should i do? I am here in the Philippines and we don't have any Blu store here to see and fix my phone

  • can someone tell me if this phone work in greece the 4g and 3g? and something else this phone has a good camera the night?? and the battery is good??? please reply

  • yes, i have one and it work perfectly. -from philippines😊

  • Pros: - Screen is amazing - UI is fast and snappy with Google Now launcher Cons: - charges really slow - Bluetooth for music is horrible without A2DP

  • They said by Q1 2016. Q1 ended March 31st. Hopefully it comes soon.

  • BLU promised us Marshmallow by end of January. I am happy with the phone but never buy any phone banking on promises.

  • Yes, its known as Myphone my36. Micromax Canvas 5 in India

  • Man, where can I get that wallpaper?

  • You guys solve this yet? try adding an audio profile.

  • Is This BLU Life One X (2016) is available In philipines? where? Please help...near Cebu...

  • the phone is amazing and i love it

  • BLU Life One X (2016) does not have gyro and battery lasts one day.

  • it should

  • Vivo Air (non LTE version) user here i want to use other Vivo product where the display brightness can be much greater under the sun, anyone know if this one works well?

  • It sounds like you didn't choose your "SD card" as your phone's "Preferred install location". However, if that fails, try the opposite, use "Phone storage" and see if it works transferring the ringtone.

  • that didnt work been trying days to change to a custom ringtone but still cant..... help

  • Most definitely. I would suspect that all smartphones are able to do this at this point in time unless they are limited by their cellular carrier.

  • I'm sorry, man. That is definitely a virus and I have to say I have never had experience with a virus on a smartphone because I don't download and install questionable apps like that. First, I would try the AVG app in the app store to see if it could remove it. Failing in that, try any other free anti-virus app you can get your hands on. If all else fails, I would consider doing a restore to stock. Being that you have a different device than I have, I wouldn't know how to go about restoring that tablet to stock so you will have to Google some alternative help.

  • My phone has no network.. It comes and after few seconds it goes

  • I have the same problem, what I did was charge the phone but not allow it to reach 100% battery charge

  • Does this phone work in guam and philippines?

  • This also happened to my mom's Plum axe plus, tried factory resets but didnt help. Can you check downloaded apps or in running applications for something named 'engriks'? And try to delete wifi passwords to stop it from connecting to a network and downloading apps.

  • Is the same phone as the Wiko fever

  • you should probably try a fabric recovery... some times it could be a virus or some software malfunction that makes the battery depletes. Maybe the fabric reset take a lot of time and lose some information but it is the way to fix that kind of problem :)

  • yes, i own this phone and have done so.

  • Can you call someone and use the Internet on this phone?????

  • THE WATCHER can you please helpme!!! I have also a BLU life view 8.0 tablet and I have opened one of those stupid applications from facebook those ones that are recommeded for your phone to enhance the battery life, then started to update every single app in my tablet, and there is a bunch of android icons in my home screen, also wall paper icons like porn club, sexy girl and craps like that, what shout I can do, in fact I know it is a firewall Malware, but I dont know how to remove it, even after a hard factory reset still being on my tablet, and keeps restarting my tablet and also a fire wall black screen and downloading apps without any action from me, what shout I do?

  • Just curious... don't you check the frequencies and bands of phones first to see if they're compatible with the network you want to use them on!? Because I'm trying to figure out why this would be a surprise or an issue AFTER you've bought the phone.

  • That's sad as I've ordered the phone and it got to Jamaica yesterday... did you try going to flow or digicel to let them try and activate some sort of settings so that it can be compatible with 4G network in Jamaica?

  • I heard someone who didn't even root this phone updated and bricked their device. With that being said, it is up to you. However, if you have no way of backing this phone up and being able to restore it just in case something goes wrong (which is the case if it isn't rooted with a custom recovery), it's a risk just like with any new software on any phone. Personally, I don't find anything on Marshmallow worth my time so I will never update mine. I am fine with Lollipop as everything works exactly how I want it to so why should I try to fix something that isn't broken? Plus, even if I wanted to, I couldn't because since I rooted, I would need a the stock recovery file (which nobody currently has) to be able to unroot and restore to before I update. It's never a good idea to update with stock OTA updates when you're rooted.

  • The Watcher, can U please tell me if it is a bad idea to upgrade this phone straight from BLU´S sofware update to the marshmallow one?

  • Phone is great except for the camera; good in sport mode. But really suffers in low light almost useless. Camera has no anti shake function.

  • I have this phone in Jamaica and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. First of all there was an update then my led flash only work some of the time, secondly I'm on a 4g network DIGICEL JAMAICA and can't pick up a 4g signal, it's only 3g and this is in both slots even when using the other network; LIME JAMAICA being the other network. The battery life is fine the processor is a little poor can't handle dead trigger, Camera needs an update capture speed is too slow. BLU needs to put out an update to fix these issues or all this hardwork will be for nothing, BLU has a large following in jamaica due to its dual SIM capabilities. Don't get me wrong it's a lovely phone and oh I bought mine off Amazon for $150.

  • I have never heard of nor experienced a limit on SMS messages as I don't send that many. However, many have reported success with this free, rooted app - SMS Limit Unlock: This app does NOT work on Marshmallow!

  • The battery last less than 16h for a regular use...

  • I just want to change the outgoing Max count and the interval between messages. If you could help me locate the file then I will take it from there

  • No I just want to remove the deny/allow option the same way sms unlocker does it on older versions. That's all. There isn't any thread out there for 5.1

  • Try cloud storage for sms you no longer need that week, unless you want to get down and dirty with the system in adb and rewrite the code in Text++

  • Thanks for the post even better than the original poster. Unfortunately for me i couldn't unlock the sms limit on lollipop 5.1 with root. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated. If i can't unlock the limit this new phone would be worthless i have 2 sim cards plenty of contacts

  • Thanks for the post even better than the original poster. Unfortunately for me i couldn't unlock the sms limit on lollipop 5.1 with root. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated

  • This is definitely a defective phone and/or battery. You should see if you can send it back for a refund or replacement where you purchased it.

  • That "system upgrade" is bricking people's phones who didn't even root! Why on earth would you want to upgrade!?

  • What I can do? My battery is draining to fast. I charged before going bed and when I wake up the phone is in 10%.when I check said Phone idle cosume all the battery. Also when I charged it to 100% drain to fast in minutes. so my battery is draining without using my phone. The only thing that I used my phone is for charging it. What I can do because I do everything to make the battery last longer or draining less faster but nothing works.

  • Í have the same problem.

  • Does anyone have the stock recovery for this device, so that I am able to download and install the system upgrade from BLU?

  • how to bypass account verification

  • For folks having issues with long charge time try using a different USB cable. There appears to be a fault with the included charging cable, (not the wall charger), just the cable. I did that and the phone charges at similar rate as my Life One (2015) and other Android phones.

  • Alright... I'm going to answer your question from square one. First, if you have a microSD card installed, make sure you go to Settings > Storage and check the "SD card" circle on the top portion of the screen that appears. Next, connect your phone to your computer with the microUSB cable. Now on your computer, open your "Computer" window by using the Windows + E keys together. Open your phone icon that should appear within this window and then click on the "SD card" drive (it will just be the regular "Phone storage" if you don't have a microSD card installed). Go to the "Ringtones" folder and drag and drop, from your computer, the audio file you wish to use as your ringtone. Pick up your phone and go to Settings > Sound and notification. At the top right, you'll see an icon that looks like a gear with 6 points. Click on that. Go to the option that says "Phone ringtone". You should now see the file in alphabetical order that you uploaded earlier. Select that and then back out of those screens and you're done!

  • Awesome smartphone for a great price (

  • How do u set a personalized ringtone on this phone?

  • this phone lacks gyro - doesn't work with google cardboard VR

  • Your correct, it isn't that good of a phone and has flaws as well. But for the price, its definitely a great phone for what your getting.

  • LOL! Let's not get ahead of ourselves now, seriously! It's good but it's not THAT good!

  • Woowww this phones camera is better than iPhone 6s camera

  • that's not normal, you should check what is draining your battery

  • Anybody else having trouble with their keyboard? Not sure if it's a swiftkey issue but at times the delete button "x" won't respond.

  • I'm assuming this is directed at me? I only made a rooting and Viper4Android guide as it is posted a couple pages back. I don't feel the need to make a detailed review of this phone as there are more than enough on Amazon which I've linked below.

  • Which wallpaper?

  • This is NOT normal for the battery to be draining so quickly. It sounds like your phone is defective. It does, however, take a long time to charge and the battery gets increasingly better with each full discharge (I let it drain until it shuts off) and full recharge.

  • Hi Will this phone work in The Netherlands, will it be able to connect to the wifi and stuff and will it work the exact same way as it does in the US?

  • Hi Will this phone work in The Netherlands, will it be able to connect to the wifi and stuff and will it work the exact same way as it does in the US?

  • This is, by far, and I mean light years away, the worst battery life ever. It goes from 100% to 90% in a few mins and it takes an eternity to recharge. I even had to reset it the very next day to see if it was something I have downloaded, and it continued draining fast. Not a good phone for heavy usage.

  • Can you make a detial review of this phone?

  • Where can I get that wallpaper?

  • According to the Sensor Kinectics app from the Google Play Store, it does NOT have a gyroscope!

  • can you please tell me if this phone really have a gyro sensor, I want to se virtual reality and 360 on youtube but Im not sure if it has

  • will it work in europe finland

  • You can try Light Manager linked below. However, my brief time with it didn't yield any differences in the brightness of the LED notification, nor did it manually change any of the default colors beyond what the phone is ordinarily capable of.

  • How about an app to bright it up? This notification led is one of the dimmest I have ever used.

  • Nobody has a stock recovery at the moment. This is MUST for unrooting.

  • Do you have the stock recovery image to this device and know how to unroot?

  • Yes, it has a notification LED. No, you can't change the colors of the notification LED.

  • Does this phone have a notification LED, and if so, can you change colors?

  • I thought this was quite interesting... In Settings > Storage we have the feature "Preferred install location" for new apps with the options of "Default write disk" being either "Phone storage" or "SD card". This is a nice feature to have on Android for which most flagship devices restrict SD card app installation, if they even have a MicroSD card slot to begin with. I discovered that if you choose your SD card for your "Default write disk", when you try to transfer anything from either your PC or your phone's storage, it will fail. It's trying to protect it as a Read Only storage location. In order for you to successfully transfer things over, just change the "Default write disk" to "Phone storage" and you'll be able to drag and drop items like normally from your PC to the SD card.

  • That response below is mine, by the way. I just didn't realize I wasn't logged in when I typed and submitted it. Also anything you plug into the 3.5mm jack will also improve with Viper4Android. I use it in my car all the time and it's beyond words as it really can't be explained. It must be EXPERIENCED!

  • Viper4Android actually replaces and enhances stock audio files, frequencies and options that are so far outside of the manufacturer's purview that it enables the phone to do things that ordinary apps cannot. This particular rooted app not only enhances the music, but it affects all of the audio sounds on the phone making it louder and more professional sounding. So to directly answer your question, yes, it does make the speaker sound louder and clearer as well as the sounds on bluetooth, which is what I primarily use most of the time. I'm always amazed at how this fantastic program can make some cheap $20 bluetooth stereo headphones sound like expensive, top of the line Siennheisers!

  • as a technical recomendation, you have to fully charge the phone for about 6 hours length that will avoid the battery to malfunction during further charges .

  • im trying to root my phone via your tutorial. Im having trouble with unlocking my bootloader. when download the fastboot from mediashare it just downloads an app no folder as you speak of. so I went and downloaded a different version of minimal adb and fastboot. Now I have a folder on my desktop, so I download the zip file extract it and and put the extracted file into the fastboot folder. also the supoersu folder is on my phone via usb. I then turn the phone off and when I hold the volume up button and power button my phone comes back on saying "no command" so I put the command you told us to use in the command window put to the side but it just says waiting for device once enter is pressed. can you help to determine what I am doing wrong, and where this problem could be resolved? developer mode has been unlocked and I did enable both settings mentioned in op.

  • Thank you for the clarification and your thoughts on rooting and OS updates. I also wanted to ask you if you can hear some real difference in the sound quality after installing Viper4Android? Is the difference noticeable when listening through the speaker, or through the earphones (or both)? Does it make any difference when streaming music to a Bluetooth speaker?

  • Hello mates. This is my question: I just received my Blu Life One x (2016). Do I have to charge right away the battery to 100% or do I have to exhaust the battery first and then make the first charge? Thanks!

  • Sounds like software bug which prevent phone from going to deep sleep state (which is normal when android phone is on standby). download cpu spy and check if cpu is deep sleeping when it's on standby.

  • Great advice to get rid of the bloat on this phone and a pretty good summary review.

  • 1. My apologies! Hold the SHIFT key + right-click inside the folder's window and then choose "Open command window here". Great catch! 2. After I root, I rarely update my phone. Rooting to me trumps whatever updates they can offer me. Yes, this even applies to Marshmallow, which I couldn't care less about. I have only restored the OnePlus One to stock in order to catch up with updates since it was so buggy initially, but that's it. However, in order to restore to stock, you must have a copy of the stock recovery with a guide on how to do so and to my knowledge, there are no backups of the stock recovery, nor are there any guides.

  • Hi Neppal Reddy, I have the phone for two weeks now, and I had the same problem with the battery drainage (while in standby). After not finding anything on the net, what I did was uninstall Everything that can be uninstalled (amazon apps, yahoo weather e.t.c.), installed Battery Doctor (which showed me which apps are really draining the battery), so I disabled Opera, installed Google keyboard, disabled TouchPal keyboard, disabled some of the Google apps that I do not use (like games, books, movies e.t.c.) and got the battery life expected from a 2900mAh. Now, with moderate use, (calls, messaging, surfing for 2-3 hours on WiFi or 3g, casual video, some music e.t.c) I get a little more than one and a half day of usage. Usually, I keep the data on (I am on a 3g network, so no clue how 4g would affect the battery life). Also, I am not doing any gaming on the phone, so no info there too. Not sure which app or service caused the problem, but the above procedure solved it for me. Otherwise, except for the slow recharging time, I really like the phone. Speedy and smooth (never managed to stall the phone even when deliberately trying with opening a lot of apps and a lot of windows in Chrome at the same time), fantastic screen, good build quality, light (but not in a cheap way), great feel in the hand, good front camera with a flash, so-so back camera (good and sharp photos in daylight and with a steady hand, not so good and grainy in darker conditions), 1080p video on both cameras, dual sim, SD card support up to 64GB, included flip cover with added functionality, fairly clean version of Android 5.1 with some useful additions... Hope this helps, Cheers

  • I got the phone 1 week back. After 100% charging it is dropping to 90% in just 10 minutes, and overall battery also draining fastly. Am i the only one facing this problem. Otherwise phone is great except battery.

  • can you please tellme if this device does really has gyroscope?? like GSM'S arena tendency to put gyro in all devices specs and at the end just a few have

  • I can't wait till i finally get my own blu life one x mobile!!!!!!!:)

  • Hi Tha Watcher! Thank you for taking the time to post this detailed "how to" for this new phone. It is very clear and straight forward. I have a few questions: 1. What OS are you using on your PC? I am asking since I can not find the “Open command window here" when I right click inside the Minimal ADB Fastboot folder in Windows 10. So, is it a question of different OS-es, or I am missing something? 2. After unlocking the boot loader and rooting the phone, do you think it is possible to receive future official OTA updates from BLU? Thank you!

  • Your worried about a non-replaceable battery. Tell me one item you've have with s lipo battery that you had so long it needed a battery?! ...honestly without lying

  • I apologize for the plethora of ÂÂÂ as they seem to generate around quotations.

  • BLU LIFE ONE X (2016) - HOW TO ROOT AND INSTALL VIPER4ANDROID DISCLAIMER: FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKED OR UNRESPONSIVE DEVICES! I am creating this guide for people like me who have been searching for a while for an exact, concise way to root the BLU Life One X (2016) which is available on Amazon. I have had to piece together information from various sources as well as helpful people on XDA such as manos78, yrude and rogersa2k. Model Number: BLU Life One X Build Number: ALPS.L1.MP3.V2.21_6753.65U.G_P11 Custom Build Version: BLU_L0070UU_V12_GENERIC 09-11-2015 18:44 This phone is similar in build to the Wiko Fever and Micromax Canvas 5 E481 so a modded Wiko Recovery is used in Fastboot to help establish root. But first the bootloader must be unlocked. On your PC, you need to have ADB Fastboot files in order to use these commands so I'd recommend downloading Minimal ADB Fastboot. You can get that from here: Install Minimal ADB Fastboot on your computer, preferably on your desktop so it's easily accessible. Next download the CWM recovery file from here (you can also use TWRP, but for this particular instance I chose CWM so that's what I'll provide a link to. I don't like giving instructions for things I didn't actually do myself.): Unzip the file and place the recovery-custom-wiko-fever.img in the Minimal ADB Fastboot folder you placed on your desktop. Now right-click inside this folder and choose the option “Open command window here.” A CMD window should appear. Leave this open and set it aside for now. We first need to unlock the bootloader and since the unlock process will delete all of the files on your phone, it's recommended to perform this before you even login and download apps and settings, etc. Once gaining access to your BLU Life One X, go to Settings > About device and touch Build number seven times to enable Developer options within the Settings. Back out of this area and go into the Developer options that you just enabled and turn On USB debugging and OEM unlocking. Now plug your device into your computer via the USB cable and wait for the device to show up under Computer by pressing the Windows + E keys. Open the device in this window and leave it at the screen where it initially shows all of the phone's folders. Download SuperSU from here: Place this zip file into your phone's folder that you opened up previously. Power Off your device but keep it plugged into your computer. UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER Power On the device into the bootloader by simultaneously holding the Volume Up + Power buttons until you see the BLU splash screen, then let them both go. In the CMD window on your computer, type: fastboot oem unlock and press the ENTER key. On your phone, select YES with the Volume button to scroll and the Power button to execute it. Then select the option to reboot the phone. This erases all of the info on your device like a Factory Restore. Two reboots are automatically performed and the bootloader will be unlocked. If you want to check and see if the bootloader is actually unlocked with the CMD window, enter: fastboot getvar all. INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY Now you need to flash the custom recovery you downloaded earlier. Ensure that you still have your device hooked to your computer via USB cable and make sure the CMD window to that folder is open. Reboot your phone into bootloader mode by simultaneously holding the Volume Up + Power buttons until you see the BLU splash screen and then let them both go. Use the Volume Down button to select “bootloader” in the menu and press Volume Up to select it. Within your CMD window, type: fastboot flash recovery recovery-custom-wiko-fever.img (After you type recovery a second time, you can press the TAB key and it will fill in the rest of the filename.) Now press ENTER. After the recovery has been successfully installed, unplug the USB cable from your phone. Hold the Volume Up + Power buttons simultaneously until the phone shuts off then let go of both buttons. Wait a second and hold both of the buttons again until you see the BLU splash screen, then let go of both buttons. This will now boot into the custom CWM Recovery you installed. ROOT With the Volume keys, scroll to the option that says “Install zip” and press the Power button to select it. Scroll down and select the file BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip that we placed on the phone earlier. Press the Power button. Return to the previous screen by navigating with the Volume buttons and then select “Reboot Phone”. Make sure you select the option that says “Yes - Fix root (/system/xbin/su)” and press the Power button. You are now rooted! To check, install Root Checker from the Play Store or some other app that requires root and make sure you press “Grant” when the option pops up from the SuperSU app. VIPER4ANDROID Now it's time to install Viper4Android on your BLU Life One X! Download it from here: Also you need to install SELinux, which you can download from here: On your phone, go to Settings > Security and make sure you enable Unknown sources so you can install the following programs. Unzip the Viper4Android file and place only the ViPER4Android_FX_A4.x.apk file on your phone via USB as explained before. This is the older version that worked with KitKat and unfortunately it's the only version that will work with this phone. Install it on your device but don't open it, yet. Next, install SELinux on your phone and open it. Select “Permissive”. This is very important or else Viper4Android will not work! Next, open Viper4Android and install the drivers (I always choose Super Audio Quality as it gives you more audio options). Next you must reboot your phone normally. Congratulations! You now have Viper4Android installed!

  • I have rooted this phone. I shall post my instructions on here shortly.

  • i think most people are wondering about the removable battery, because after, say two or three years of use, batteries don't hold a charge very well after hundreds of charge up/down cycles. maybe not everyone plans to keep a phone beyond 2 years, but a few of us, myself included, think about the long term :-)

  • I believe this happens on most android phones such as samsung etc. Only until you turn the phone off, then the notifications will stop

  • The phone is great and it deserves all the hype... the battery is normal tho, and it kind of overheats while playing games, still great for the $99 release price and for the $149 normal... i love it! :D

  • has anyone rooted this phone, yet? if so, how?

  • I got mine about 4 months ago and I love it! It's amazing! It's super light weight, very thin, and the camera quality isn't as good as any other blu studio phones that I've had from the past, but it's a total upgrade!! I love how fast it runs and I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a light weight phone. It's very thin and easy to carry. Only cons about this phone is the sound, it's not as loud as I thought it would be. Another con is I turned on the flashlight and my phone battery was 1% so it died. I didn't charge it until 2-3 hours later.. but then my phone is just a pitch black screen. It still works, you can still hear text messages and facebook notifications, but the screen is just pitch black. I don't know what to do, any suggestions??

  • Got mine two days before Christmas to replace my Life One X from 2 years ago. The best thing about BLU phones is the stock android with little bloatware as the only thing I cannot remove is the Touchpal keyboard. Premium looking phone with almost premium specs at a budget price. The only complaint I have is the back camera has average picture quality and is slow to auto focus. I would have traded a selfie camera and octa-core cpu for a quad core, 2mp selfie and a 16mp dual tone led flash rear camera but I understand the former is easier to advertise.

  • What is its real height? I mean, gsmarena tells 149.5mm but i see 186.8 everywhere

  • Just go the phone today. It is supper awesome! It was not for me but I kinda jealous comparing to my Galaxy S6 crap. Well GS6 does have better camera but software is all bloat. BLU Life One X 2016 comes with zero bloatware. Vanilla Lollipop experience. Very nice phone. Solid build. Screen is gorgeous, battery life is very good. Very good competitor to nexus 5x. The flip case comes in box very useful but the screen protector is from other phone. too small. waiting for better accessories.

  • This phone is very fantastic, very good. beautifull, nice pictures and low price . Incredible..!!

  • MINE last for about 7 hours of gameplay with 50% of brightness (°O°)

  • Read/Watch reviews. It manages near 5 hours of SoT with 90% brightness.

  • Does anyone know what in the world someone who buys a phone like this that has a Non-Replaceable battery is supposed to do when the battery goes bad? I mean really... why build such a great on paper phone then make it impossible for anyone to keep it for long?!?! SIGH !! Man.. I was thisssss close to being their new best friend until that deal breaker.. how sad!

  • I highly doubt this'll net you more 4-5 hours of screen-on time with normal use. 2900mAh is just not that big for hard all day use with a 1080p display.

  • Hi there! The battery itself isn't removable, though you should be able to get 6 to 7 hours of screen on time, depending on how powerful a user you are.

  • No, it's a removable back but you can't remove the battery isn't replacable.

  • Is the battery replaceable?

  • Does anyone know when is this coming out in Europe?

  • Recently bought this phone and expecting it late December to early January. The stats are incredible for a phone of this price and thats why I purchased it as my first phone.

  • Bought 2. Screen is super sharp. Phone doesn't lag, runs fine. I'm using T-Mobile and band 12. Very happy. Replaced my Galaxy Grand Primes, no regrets. Only thing I wish it had is NFC. Not a deal breaker for me.

  • I ordered one (black). Will find out how good it is first thing in January (shipping at the end of the month). I currently use the 2013 Life One X.

  • Where can I buy this phone in Europe? Fantastic price for the features.

  • does anyone actually have the device yet? is it decent?

  • I can't wait to get a hold of this and review it. They had it on sale for $99 dollars a few days ago, but the sale is over now. The specs on paper are fantastic for the price either way.

  • Does this phone really have a gyro?

  • According to the review from AndroidPolice it is a notification light.

  • Wish BLU releases 4.5-4.7" phone with similar specs to blow IPHONE 6s out of competition... Eagerly waiting to buy that phone.

  • Does this work 4G LTE in India. India has 1800mhz and 2300 Mhz band.

  • Pre-ordered immediately, $99 3 day sale on Amazon currently, totally worth it. It looks like there might be a notification led light on the top left, I hope that's what it is.

  • got to buy this, 2gb of ram upgradable to marshmallow, gorilla glass3, frontal camera with led flash, octa core processor, I can thrully say that I love this phone!!!!
