BLU Studio 5.0 S - User Reviews

  • Getting frustrated with data storage issue. Installed SD card. Now cannot migrate data. Please help.

  • I know this sounds stupid, but forward the msg to YOUR email and download the attached pic. Yeah, that's the only way.

  • Blu's music player seems to have difficulty digesting mp4, and any lossless audio/video formats. Conversion to mp3, WMA for video helps. Best bet is to download the file to your PC first!! Then put the music on your sd.Directly to the phone isn't wise, because any background functions that use(from what I've seen on my phone) a 3rd of RAM memory will crash the player.

  • Its NOT the phone. The Studio 5.0 uses Kit Kat 4.4, and one of the crappy things it does is auto save data to your internal memory and not to the SD. If you installed an app or game, before you open it, you need to go to the apps settings in the phone, usually the save to SD option is open, but not always. Apps running on higher Android versions typically won't.Google apps will go straight to your IM, because they're Google and they want to know all about you. Not a fix, just 'splaining.

  • Can anyone tell me how to save a picture from email to my blu studio phone? Ty

  • Ahem, I have a question if anybody can answer it, I got one of these phones today and I want to know if playing games takes up minutes, yeah I know that going to app store takes minutes, But does it take up minutes if you play games? I really need to know..

  • i have a BLU Studio 5.0 HD LTE. I too have issues with music, any audio, stopping intermittently for no reason. it seems to be buffering but that doesn't make much sense. its like hitting the pause button. the frequency & duration of the stop varies. anyone else have the problem & is there a fix?

  • POS phone so not buy! BLU does not care about you as a customer after you spend an overpriced amount on their POS phones which don't last and are defective! Bought phone in December 2015, already in March 2016 lines running down screen which after a few days turned into green splotches. Phone now useless, can't see through screen. Called customer service- they say do a hard reset first ( so now you lose your operating system) and can't do anything with the phone anyways after that! They say save whatever before doing it - yeah right, there is no option to save on the sd card anywhere! Try to find out on Internet how to save to sd card, everyone else asking the same question who also cannot do it! So send a pic to them of screen atill jacked up (by the way one year warranty supposedly) they say sorry you must gotten wet! That f'ing phone never saw water EVER! So ask to talk to manager, who proceeds to say I can send it on for inspection (how much you want to bet it then sees water via sabotage). So apparently they will replace/repair if no water damage - but wouldn't have had I not been so stern about it. Phone never dropped, screen not cracked either. So they claim if I want my phone back going to have to send them a check for ten dollars whether fixed or not! No offer to fix screen just sorry SOL to me. I will delete this should I somehow not get sabotaged by BLU - but I promise they're not gonna find an uncle of evidence towards water damage. The phone worked perfectly (besides screen) which doesn't seem quite right had it had damage by water. They're saying moisture could've caused. That's f'ing BS. So you can't use a phone unless it's the perfect temp and humidity?! Awesome. Had a cover on it since day 1 - the only cheaply made flimsy one they make for these phones. And have a feeling when I pay to get back my phone that they refuse to believe their Screen could possibly be defective, it's still not going to have an operating system put back on it that they made me reset for no damn reason so even if I buy a more than 100$ lcd screen from somewhere and fix the POS myself, I'll still have to find out how to re-install the operating system. Whole things been a crock of shit - and their service sucks ass! Get the frickin run around and they don't give two craps about it! Nice

  • My unlocked blue selfie 5.0 is a month old ,bx opnd but pH untouched.personal issue had prvnted me from having it in use. That cleared,my consternation and jaw-dropping reaction after reading reviews herein just took me by total disbelief. If the odds of comments being highly true, well, ".where do we go from here.."? Are there any return issues experienced by anyone w/similar overdue problem, such as mine? Yeah, this implies I've somewhat given up before even doing one thing..thnx for ATTN,guys.

  • You are absolutely right. The customer service at BLU is a 0. Supervisors at BLU are not much better and the whole phone company is basically a waste. I would not advise anyone to waste their time with BLU Studio. When you have a problem, there is no solution. They will run you in circles. If you have a good phone from them, good. However, if you have any major issues BLU will run you in circles. Huawei-- a manufacturer of unlocked phones, is great. I just switched when BLU sent me this defective phone that I am currently stuck with.

  • Yes, BLU, never, ever buy. I have the last two. These are horrible phones and customer service is worse.Never ever again will I waste money on your products.

  • I had to factory reset my phone to now I get nothing no picture mail and no apps I just talk and text that's it nice phone but it sucks!!

  • My games crash to desktop within 10 minutes of playing them. I have tried playing 6 different games with the same 10 to 15 minutes crash. Using a Blu studio 5.0S. Just 8g microsd. cricket wireless videos crash the same when streaming. I like the phone just need a better users manual. Is the phone in demo mode? If so how to turn that off? Please help!

  • I believe the entire brand must suck I got a 5.5 studio dual sim unlocked and it want load browser are images half the time and when it do it takes a very very longtime.I can't watch any video either it buffers all video so bad it just impossible to watch.Im not a picky person but when you pay for all these thing to work and they barely do you can't say you got rip off and the phone completely sucks ,but I'm glad I'm not the only one with these phone problems from this company.

Is it just this certain phone or does this happen to everybody??

  • well sir i have great news for you.Whenever an error comes ,when downloading an app it means 1) you have no wifi 2)you have no memory if you dont have enough memory you should buy a micro sd card from amazon.Hope it works for you

  • Is it possible to use different sounds/ringtones for different types of notifications? For example...one sound for a FB pm, one for a text message and one for email? Thanks

  • The "user manual" is pretty much a joke...and the product is new enough there's not much out there in terms if finding out how to work the thing. Overall though, I love the large viewscreen and it's a great phone

  • copy/paste

  • how do i copy songs from my computer onto my memory card in my phone

  • I bought this phone to replace my old galaxy2s that was having numerous problems; six he battery life, non responsive screen to mention a couple. After having the Blu 5.5s for just a few days I can say it is an amazing upgrade. The screen colors and resolution are great, it feels substantial in the hand plus all the features I want and need. I just took my straightalk sim from my old phone and had service and shortly all my apps, etc. Great phone for the money, in fact for twice the money.

  • Save all of your files and pics to Google drive or set up Google plus and it will back up for you. You can install that app on any phone and have access to your files and pics.

  • I would like to know the same thing! I am interested in purchasing one, but need the # so that I can see if I have coverage in my area.... HELP!!!!

  • I agree! This phone sucks, it hardly has apps on it every time I try to download just 1 game it says insufficient space, which is crap. I have a 32gb SD card it keep saying damage SD but when I put the SD card in another phone it works great... Hate this phone so bad....

  • Why does it keeps rebooting itself?

  • I would like to know how to store stuff to the phone memory rather than everything going to the SD card and now the phone have slowed drastically because it keep saying it has no space when I barely have anything on it

  • I have a blue and it sucks it keep rebooting... It erased all my pictures and music,my BACK CAMERA don't work.I keep getting messages say SD card damage which is bulls***...never again this phone sucks and advise nobody to purchase.

  • How do I put my old SD card in my phone with all my pictures on it so I can see it in my new phone

  • I'm trying to move my pictures to my SD card so I can print them off how do I do that

  • How do u open that part?

  • How so I put files from phone to SD card?

  • Thanks for taking the time to write a thorough review. I really appreciate it, and found it most helpful.

  • u need to open the part thats next to the sim slot.

  • how do you save your pictures to your SD card and how do you move your pictures to your phone to SD card...

  • how do you save your pictures to your SD card and how do you move your pictures to your phone to SD card...

  • how long it takes to full charge ?

  • Yes it does its green And small

  • Are you sure your card is a microSD? A regular SD wouldn't fit.

  • Just bought a blu studio 5.0 II and my 8gb SD card wont fit in the slot? Whats wrong with my phone?

  • The sound quality is HORRIBLE. When you use your BLU STUDIO handset the music is GREAT, then when it breaks and you use regular headphones the music is muffled and adjusting the equalizer doesn't help much. Ppl can't hardly hear you on the phone when you're talking. My phone constantly reboots.. FOR NO REASON. SO... yeah I'm sticking with name brand from now on. I guess that's why this unlocked phone is SO CHEAP.. because it lacks real QUALITY.

  • Poor customer support.

  • I have the blu studio 5.0 ii and everytone I try to take a picture it doesn't work. I really would like to take pics this phone isnt allowing me to do that.

  • what is the serial number or imei / meid hex/ meid dec of this phone?

  • Is it really 4gb ? Mine is only 500mb -_-

  • I've a studio 5.0 blue phone n it jus sucks at time Ive a 16g SD card in it n my files jus not storing to di phone n I've di setting to save files on SD card when mi try download mi games dem not downloading keep saying not sufficient space.

  • I've a studio 5.0 blue phone n it jus sucks at time Ive a 16g SD card in it n my files jus not storing to di phone n I've di setting to save files on SD card when mi try download mi games dem not downloading keep saying not sufficient space.

  • I am having the same problem with the phone not charging....despite me turning it off for hours only to turn it back on and see it at only 3%......wish I had never purchase the phone

  • I am having the same problem with the phone not charging....despite me turning it off for hours only to turn it back on and see it at only 3%......wish I had never purchase the phone

  • I am having the same problem with the phone not charging....despite me turning it off for hours only to turn it back on and see it at only 3%......wish I had never purchase the phone

  • Please, explain! I bought this phone, waiting it to arrive. Which points should i look?

  • seriously i have to say that this phone suck's in many ways!!!

  • no it is more than likely the charging port. is it loose at all or not feeling secure? and this coming from a computer and cell phone technician.

  • i would like to buy a blu phone but i would like to be compatable with the LG blue tooth headphone.

  • The phone just stopped charging one day after about a month where can I get a new battery for how much? Do you think that that is the problem

  • where can i purchase this phone.....?

  • Try putting your SIM card in slot 1. It's got the WCDMA/GSM capability. YouTube had this info. It worked for me. Now it has "H" which is 3G.

  • systems settings. Sound has vibrate option, So do all the apps you have to SMS and whatever else comes over the phone. Each has to be set. Have fun,

  • I had the same problem with the ear phones. I unplugged and plugged the ear phones back in and problem solved. That was on the ear phones that came with the phone which cannot compare to Sony head phones. Also try the app MixZing. It has an equalizer and boosts the sound a bit.

  • I read some place the sim card has to be in the right slot which is slot 1. I installed in the left slot like the instructions said. Have not tried the Internet other than WIFI which works great.

  • Try a files manager app that'll let you copy and in your case, cut and paste.

  • Blu Studio 5.0 S Review After using the Blu Studio 5.0 S a few days I would have to give it a high rating of 8 out of 10. The phone has worked great with no reason to restart. I've used phone, messaging, downloaded a number of apps to set it up the way I want it with no problems. Based on the fact the price is half of a Galaxy S3 with similar specs, it should rate a 10, but there are a few major design flaws and features missing on the operating system. I checked the Blu Studio 5.0 S specs against a number of phones to find this phone is the best value for the money. I purchased mine from NewEgg.com for $170 shipping included. I wish they had sent regular USPS, but they used UPS who let it sit for 3 days before moving it along. I ordered another package on the same day that shipped USPS that arrived in 4 days. Other than that, NewEgg has been a good company to work with. One of the details I disagree with the few reviews I watched in the Blu Studio 5.0 S is the styling. My other phones came with a really nice rubber coating that seemed to stick to the dash board of a car at a 45 degree angle. Well until you moved. The Blu Studio 5.0 S has a super polished finish that in fact makes if slippery. This is a big phone that fits in your hand, but let's face it, this phone is marketing for kids who most likely have parents pay for their phones. The phone is so thin it feels like it'll shatter if you drop it or break in half if you put it in the rear pocket and sit down. Okay, thin is in and a thin phone is nice. It is a wide phone that'll fit in the average hand, but all the polished surfaces make it fearful to hold. The Blu Studio 5.0 S comes with a silicon rear cover that fits like a glove and has a textured surface. Still a bit slippery, but not as bad as the polished surface. Blu, please go back to the rubber coating other companies use to give your phones a sense of security when they are in hand. I'm 56 years old and been around computers since DOS. I haven't been able to figure out Anroid programming but I see a few set backs in this Anroid 4 series. There are a few programs I would like to delete but this is not like Windows on a PC where I can find a way to get rid or just about any file. The provider you choose has a lot to do with the operating system. My old provider T-Mobile loaded the old phone up with so many programs and advertising it filled up the 1GB of memory, rendering the phone useless. I switched over to Pure Talk and so far they have not added a thing. The phone comes with a few programs. I've been able to delete most of them. A few want to hang on for dear life. It's impossible to turn off Google Play. I don't like that type of control, but I guess we're stuck with it. I use an app to kill other programs running and they keep restarting on their own. There has to be a fix for that. The software problems on the Android system killed one star. Reviews on the Blu Studio 5.0 S also centered on viewing quality. The screen is clear and well defined. I can't see any pixel points with my glasses on. I wonder why graphics quality seems to be so important. Those of us over 40 will hardly notice a difference while the younger group spending a lot of time starring at phone screens will soon loose their perfect sight. It just doesn't seem worth an extra $100 to go to the top of the line screens these days. Let's face it, what are you going to watch a movie on? A 5 inch screen or the big screen TV? Once again evidence phones are marketed to the younger crowd. Processing speed is another important issue. This phone comes with 1GB RAM, which is why I chose to spend the extra $40. My old phone had only a half gig and always ran out of memory. So far I have not seen that problem while downloading a number of apps and switching between them. The Blu Studio 5.0 S claims it comes with 4GB of ROM, the memory inside the phone. I can't see it. The memory app in the phone shows two 1.4GB memories on the phone. Not sure why it shows 2 of them, but that only adds up to 2.8GB. Anyone care to explain what happened to the other 1.2 GB? One came with 1Gb available (the rest is filled with preintalled apps and the operating system) the other has 1.38GB available. The SD card I installed is 16GB. The app shows it as a 14.98GB card. Not sure why everything seems to loose a GB. The Blu Studio 5.0 S comes with a Quad-Core 1.2GHz processor. Not sure what the quad core is but the processing speed is fast. I downloaded and installed a 1.4GB racing game that operated properly. Watched a few minutes of a movie on YouTube and viewed a number of websites I use for Real Estate. I found out with the new OS and processing speed I get the real Internet on the phone instead of a phone knock off site missing half the information. I'm happy because everything is where I remember it. The Internet on the phone seems as fast as on my PC and laptop. The pinch zoom works great. So far I've only used the phone on WIFI and not the phone system but I am not a real Internet user on the phone. The Blu Studio 5.0 S does come with a few design flaws. For one, the SD card slot. The way its designed, you can force a card in, but lots of luck on getting it out. Make sure you put in a card large enough to stick with. I read about problems the Blu Studio 5.0 S has reading SD cards. Mine didn't show the SD card at first. I couldn't get the SD card out, but after I took out the battery and restarted the phone, it saw the card. The lower buttons are also a minor issue. There are 3 buttons with the back button on the right. I keep touching the corner where I think the button should be located, but its spaced in just enough I miss it all the time. Blu move the buttons to the edges where they belong. The other issue is the on-off button on the right near the top. I have to press the button 3-4 times to get it to work. It is directly opposite of the sound level button, so when you use one hand to turn the phone on and off you are going to change the sound level. Poor design. The only other issue is the 3MM jack for the ear plugs. The reviews all said sound level on the ear phone jack was low. It was for me also. I unplugged it while a song was playing and plugged it back in and now its fine. Problem solved. This seems more like an issue with the operating system. The SD card problem is more likely the OS also. So Android... fix your sh... Overall I am pleased with the phone and Operating system. There are issues that need attention, but most are shared by just about all phones. For older people looking at a smart phone, I have to say. Using the on screen key board is a pain even on a larger screen. I am constantly hitting the wrong key. So if you want to type a lot on the phone, maybe a model with a slide out key board may be better for you. I haven't found a way of using the texting app that came with the phone to rotate to a horizontal screen with a larger key board, but I switched to Google Hang Out and it works fine and switches to horizontal screen. Much easier to use the larger key board and hold the phone with 2 hands. Overall I will say I am pleased with the Blu Studio 5.0 S. It has not caused any problems. I haven't had to restart it at all after using all the apps I need. The internet is much better than expected and I have to say the styling is nice. It looses 1 star based on the lack of a good gripping surface, the power button, and the SD card slot. Other than that, I will say BLU is out to compete with the big boys in the market and with the prices they offer, should make their mark quickly. I would like to see how one of their lesser priced phone with half the RAM perform. Blu also offers more expensive phones with better displays and more memory, but for me they are not worth the extra cost. If you live a life of gaming on a phone maybe they will be for you. The 4GB ROM, 1GB RAM, and quad core 1.2GHz processor seem to do everything I need it to do. I will recommend the Blu Studio 5.0 S to others and would buy it again. No disappointments here. The Blu Studio 5.0 S did come with a screen protector on the phone and another in a package. I kept the one on the phone, just pulled it back to remove a few bubbles. I don't know about you but every time I try to put one on it winds up with a few dust specs on the screen. One more thing, the camera. I took a few indoor shots and it seems to work fine. I've read reviews saying it has poor quality, but I will say one thing. It has panoramic mode and the picture quality settings go all the way down to VGA. So I don't have to waste a lot of megs storing a pic using a phone. Let's face it, us older people don't have the best eye for photos and a super high quality camera is not what most people buy a phone for. Picture quality is as good as any 8MP camera. I compared the quality to my Fuji 8MP camera and they are similar. You can't zoom in 800x without seeing a bit of grain. Pixels are pixels and who expects studio quality from a phone? The battery doesn't seem to last 20 hours like the specs say. I do get a full day of use out of the battery. Considering much of the day I was downloading apps, taking calls, and checking out the features on the phone, battery life seems adequate but not amazing. That's all I need is a phone I can use all day and recharge at night. If the battery lasted me 2 days with everything I put it through, the Blu Studio 5.0 S would have earned its star back. I would say battery life is about average to good.

  • I recently acquired a BLU Studio 5.0S through SimpleMobilePhones. Mostly good things to say, other than voice quality through the phone's mic. It arrived in nice condition including both a solid protective case and screen protector. For some reason it also had a screen protector pre-installed (referb or return maybe, despite SimpleMobile stating that it was new/unused - note that this company is not known for high integrity). I submitted a trouble shoot request to SimpleMobile asking to address the background noise issue - their response was "contact the manufacturer". I did so and am now waiting for their response. I assumed that the phone would have a second mic for noise cancellation (bad assumption). I find it to be a bother to use bluetooth or headphones for all calls. A second issue is with the dual sim option, which by itself is a good option and performs ok. It does introduce an unanticipated bottle-neck with my car's hands-free bluetooth. When i make a call with my hands-free set in the car it can't manage the dual sim option and points me to my phone, as i must select either SIM1 or SIM2 to complete the call. I wish there was a default setting to assign either sim1 or sim2 to an individual contact. Oh well, for the price - I would rank it as a reasonably good phone (not nearly as nice as my old Nexus One [RIP], however...)

  • how do I transfer photos from phone to sd card

  • it does not have LED notification

  • Did you have to purchase the "a" version instead

  • I'm having problems connecting to 3g on this phone I only get edge service with the green bars . The head phone jack is also low and only works with the ones that came with the phone please help. Besides that this is a pretty good phone

  • No compass or gravity sensor so.....no Droid or google sky.

  • Sucks. I hate this phone. The power button stopped working on its own. Now I have to plug in the charger or get an incoming call to use it. Waste of money.

  • does it has GPS

  • i have a problem coneccting the phone with the p.c. if no get the driver controller i can't download ...how to get this driver controller... thanks for your help...

  • Fantastic phone for the money. I had it for 2 days and it's pretty close to perfect (this is my 2nd Android phone). Pros: Speed (CPU/GPU), Screen, RAM, Design, Camera. Cons: Heat, Internal memory. Alright so it is very fast, all though it uses Cortex A5 (Quad-core). GPU has been discussed a lot, but it also works very well - it supports most of 3D games (Temple Run, Subway Surfers, Dumb Ways to Die...) in part thanks to 1 GB RAM memory. Design is just great, very similar to Samsung Galaxy S3. Camera is OK, 8 megapixels back and 2 front. There isn't much cons I found on this device so far - only heating up while playing some bigger 3D games (not a big problem) and 4 GB of Internal memory which also isn't a thing to worry about, especially if you can afford memory card (up to 32 GB), but even without SD card 4GB is enough memory for non-heavy users. People have been talking about not getting 3G data a lot. I purchased the "i" version and I had some problems with 3G in the begining, but I think it was up to the operator, so I took it back to them and they fixed it. Now both my SIM cards data works fine. I think that's all...

  • So basically you need an adapter to make the headphone jack work. Why does the specifications say 3.5mm then? Also can you give me your honest opinion of the phone, pros and cons.

  • in india this model is known as Karbonn titanium S5.... and it is a good phone... now whether blu copies from karbonn or the vice versa only company knows ......

  • I own several BLU phones, so I know a thing or two about the sound quality. :) You need to buy an adapter for your phone that will make the headphone jack fully compatible with damn near EVERY wired headphone on the market. Head on over to eBay and buy something like this (dirt cheap): (if link doesn't show up, just do a search for TRRS male to female or 4 pole male to female) What's important is that it MUST be TRRS on BOTH ends.) I did, and my phone now has AMAZING sound through the headphones. The sound quality of course is dependent upon the quality of your headphones or earbuds.

  • Can someone please tell me if it has LED notification

  • How is the sound quality when listening to music with headphones on with this phone?? The life play can't support many headphone standards..

  • Does it have a notification LED? How is the sound quality compared on it's own and compared to more well known devices? How is the camera/video?

  • Just got my Blu activated, all my contacts were auto transferred from my Verizon Droid and its so easy to set up contacts in groups. Phone is light weight, big display for aged eyes. Don't know what the long-range usage will be, but I'm happy for now.

  • How can you insert contact entries in favorite.

  • This phone is available in India?

  • yes it does. it works fine, with both cameras; rear or front; as you wish

  • Very interesting gadget: with good performances of processor, graphics and RAM, with nice finishing materials, and all that with low price. I had it for a week, after that I returned it, device had some problems with showing network presence, phonebook, battery time leaking etc, but for sure all that due to poor software solutions. All in all good for entertainment, not for business yet. Be patient for new software
