This was my very first cellular phone which I purchased with my very own money and a SIM card came with the phone as a complimentary gift. Sadly SIM cards are no longer bundled with phones instead they are sold separately. There's still a lot to like about this phone as it pioneered everything that made cell phones and smartphones what they are today. Read the article posted since morning right here on GSMArena to see all the things Siemens innovated. All in all this was a very tough phone which would bounce around on the ground when it fell to the ground...not to mention it was water-resistant, dust resistant and shock resistant...so yes it was also a pioneer in what we see being called 'Active' smartphones these. It also had strong security features which could cause you to lock yourself out of your own phone. What is called 'Password' and 'Pin' these days on smartphones was called 'Phone code' back in Siemens days. Last but not least it probably has the best audio codec I ever experienced, if not the best, then surely one of the best. I can't forget the CD-like clarity whenever I was on a phone call. The recipients voice was like music to my ears. This is a phone I never forgot and never will.

My second phone I had it for a year or two back in 2001. Siemens in that time was my favorite mobile manufacturer. After him I had C45, than S45, and after him my favorite SL45 which I had longest. It was very cool cause it was one of the first mobiles that had mp3 player with support for MMC memory cards. I was very sorry to see that Siemens discontinued mobile phones production.

@niko you can use, nokia battery if the original battery hard to find. you can use nokia battery BL5C and make some modification at the case of battery. i use nokia battery BL6C (for n-gage) so the long life that i can get with my siemens M35 is almost more than 2 days

I still have this phone, bought it in 2000, and 10 years after, i turned it on using a batery bought on a chinese store, and guess what, still works, i used to play a great game on this phone, called labyrinth, i always took it to the beach, once it fell from my shorts in to the edge of the water, i thought it had it, but nope...still working! Was an amazing phone at it's time, now its a relique, but still kicking, and i hope 10 years from now, it still works so i can own a real rare thing, a 20th century phone still working. ;)

i still have two m35 phone in good condition and ready to use. but sorry i have replaced the original baterry with BL 5 CA from nokia. because verry dificull to find the original baterry in my town and the oiginal baterry of my phone is was damn.but it still working corectly. you can try this !

most of m35 problems were due to an IC called PA (power amplifier)..and that requires soldering skills I think.. But it can be because of the battery too..

It's due to the age of the battery most likely. Handsets of this age ARE likely to have faulty batteries or are on thier way to thier last breath, it's best you get a replacement battery for as cheap as $1 or whatever currency you use, they are very cheap. Try Ebay UK or EBAY.com wherever you are based. Becausesiemens don' exist anymore, you'll find it hard to get support so yes, try ebay, they normally advertise batteries as but it now prices and make sure it's not dodgy batteries made in China or somewhere else. Make sure it is made in Finland or up to EU standards.

that is problem of SO/Hardware,a reflash would turn it good again,if it is hardware it is only a small piece that need to be replaced..it is called pa. I have one with that problem too,I am going to flash it to the latest firmware to see if it solves. Anyone knows if the latest ones can send more than 1sms (more than 160chararacters). thanks

I've had one since 2000, use it when I'm in Europe (summers). Just dropped it out a fifth-floor window. Blew into 8 pieces, but when reassembled, it worked again. Not reliably, but still, incredible. I'll buy a used one to replace it.

Despite it's size, this is a very robust phone and has security features I haven't seen on anything else. Babysitter function is brilliant for children - only let's them call pre-programmed numbers. Still going on the original battery after 7 years, although recharge times are getting a bit frequent.

My friend gave me this phone for free in 2005 and I use it until now. I think Siemens M35i is really a good stuff. It's very easy to connect this phone to PC which linux installed on it. I never get a trouble with this phone. It's really nice for me... :)

This is the best phone I ever had. I bought it when I started to work at a mine in South Africa. Fantastic durability, never mind that it is everything-proof, this phone is operator proof as well! All those who criticize it probably never owned one! The only drawback was the slow OS response. Also mine came into contact with something (I thought maybe diesel) that corroded the rubber cover at the back.

It was the most crap phone I've had. Already after half a year the battery would run out of power within one day, without usage. If calling, it would run out of power during a few minutes of calling. Worst was that no new batteries were available for this phone. Big waste of money. Any Nokia phone over this one.

This was one of the best built quality phone. It was wayyy better than Nokia 3310, eventhough that was newer than M35i. Its bricklike, litterally. Splashproof, weatherproof, sandproof, shockproof. Its incredible. All this in a stylish and smaller size than...well, a Brick! It was my first phone (2001, i was 11) and i thought it was great, even my parents who owns better versions thought its better than theirs! Ringtone was one of the best coz it doesnt sound monophonic like those nokias. It sound polyphonic! the only drawback was the messaging and small screen. But at that time, i didnt care coz all i do was call and play the maze game! But i was really P***d off coz my cousin took this phone away (he said he needed to borrow for a night), and later on sold it for cash. Its terrible. I would love to get this phone again, but its tooo antique for me. So thats why im thinking of the siemens A52 coz siemens phones are great.

This one is a true ruffneck. Mine fell off a scaffolding once (about 12 meters free fall), hit the concrete ground and rang a second later - no damage but a little scratch. Used it for 6 years now and never had any serious problems, apart from a freeze every now and then.

this is like the best design EVER for a mobile phone, i got myself k750 and i dnt like it very much kuz it gets slow from time to time, but im using nokia 6688 too, now that mobile is fast and very good menus, BUT m35i is faster then both, no shminyi minyi just call/sms and best design ever, oooohhhh i love this phone

It was the BEST phone. Simple, complete and sturdy. Shock resistant, with vibration, and water resistant. It was a GREAT phone. But after 5 years of abuse,it finally died. and it died peacefully. If I could buy a new one again, I would. if anyone knows where to buy a grand new M35, i would buy it from you.

The most reliable phone ever made. Never loses connection, never turns off unexpectedly. I have it for 3 years. I bought new phones but still come back to this one. It has only one problem. The batery life is approximately one year, but then again from 0 to 100% recharges for only 1 hour. The only recomended modification is to buy a Li-on 750 mah. It will last for a 5-6 days. And it will serve you until there are computers instead of phones.

very good phone even if quite heavy with the standard NIMH battery! another problem with that battery it's the lifetime, but both of these problems can be forgotten if u buy a LI-ion one because it can reach a week in stand-by and talking about half an hour a day! but the best feature of this phone is the enhanced durability at big drops and even 2 meters under water! i've tested mine and i still have properlly working! only me45 is better if proper insulated!

This phone sucks...i have it for 1 year and i can`t say that it is that bad but 3 weeks ago it fell of the kitchen table and ever since it stops working or hangs if you press 3, 9, or #...it gets worse when writting SMS. If you just squezze it gently it will freeze as well... :)

About the battery, my M35 came with the better Li-Ion Battery and with intensive use it lasts 4 days. If I don't use it so much it even lasts a week! The Battery is great, and Gemma, yes, you can charge it with the same charger, and both charging and stand by time are increased!

I Too have a problem with the battery. I've read here that putting in a li-ion battery of high capacity helps. But can I carge that with the normal charger? And does only the stanby time increas? But will I still have the problem that when i use the menu or write messages the battery will be empty quickly.( just a little bit less quickly because it's high capacity) Or will this problem be over too? If you know the answer please tell me! I speak Dutch and English.

to:Adviser :) i too have both the T20 and the M35i and I totally disagree with you. I use the T20 instead of the M35i. because of the battery and it's much easier to press the buttons on the T20. The battery on the M35i sucks. If you've written 5 messages you can recharge it already.

'cuz i'm constantly moving, sometimes i can't feel the vibes... so is it possible to increase vibes' intensity. and is it possible to record more than one ringtone (it doesn't matter weter only with the phone, or with pc-connection!) anyway.... uf you're thinking to buy it or not... buy it... it's worth the money!

I se some shitty opinions about the M35 and I can tell you for sure it's a great phone, of course if you're not a Nokia fan.Personally I think Nokia sucks lately, especially the 3310.

Well, it's quite a tough phone with nice features. I even got a no-name Li-ion battery that, unlike the original, has a stand-by time of 7 days (and trust me, the GSM provider here has quite a fluctuating signal). Still, it looks like there's no place to get original covers for the damn thing!!!!I mean, the rubber on the back blows big time as it got all dirty and scratched. If there's anyone who thinks he/she can help me please, please proceed to e-mailing me!I'm willing to pay for it!

I have one in the gray colour, and to be honest this phone is EXCELLENT!! It does not have Nokia written anywhere on it, I would not swap mine for any other phone, Apart from another one!! I recommend this phone to anyone, it is practically inpossible to beat for the price.

This phone is great! It's a small phone but full of features. but there's a problem with it. i couldn't quite open the battery. it's too complicated. but honestly, it's really a good phone.

to my mind, it's a great phone (i don't say it's perfect). it has almost everything U need daily. it looks great and not boring (like all nokias), especially blue colored. the biggest minus is it's battery.. it stands for about 3days (nokia usually stands for 4-5days). for it's price I thing it's the best phone (in my country it costs about 140$)

Ultra-cool phone. Nice features. Nice looks. Discharge battery at a press of a button (very handy). Water resistant (I use it in the shower!!) Very highly recommended.

Exelent phone. Better than 3210, 3310 and even 3330. And I don't think that is the worst form the 35 series...And about the battery - change the standard one with a Li-Ion - you'll feel like a new man!!

The phone has vibration, u just have to enable it! the m35i are available in 3 colours, blue, grey, and yellow (i think there is a red coming out) ppl can diss this phone, but its only bad if u dont know how to use it properly. with the correct software and a data cable, this phone kicks ass! the modem is quite quick for a mobile 1! this phone far outruns the nokias, if u learn how to use all its features.

Bad battery life 48h max. in city conditions Good outdoor performance, can be washed or dropprd hardly without any inconvenience for the phone even if stepped on to it with a car.

This phone is perfect for me. It's got features that usually come in a high-end cell phone and also combine with a water, shock and dust resistance makes it a good choice for an outdoor adventurers and extreme sport athletes. That haryono guy... he just plain suck!! He didn't know what he is talking about. If he disses this phone just because his phone hung up (probably because he has a shitty SIM card or he just bought the phone from the lame black market)maybe he just ought to buy a nokia..
