BLU Studio One Plus - User Reviews

  • this smartphone has serious battery issues

  • I bought one in 2016 and after a while it stop charging, it carried it for repairs and only charged when off, until it start shutting off because of low battery, not sure if it was software .

  • We purchased 2 of these a few years back. Both of them had to be replaced under warranty due to the batteries not holding a charge, or charging at all. We went through hard resets on these - that was not the solution. Now, after warranty is up, we are again facing the battery issue on one of them. We knew this was inevitable & though all of the other features on this phone are great (camera, speed, etc.), we simply can't purchase this phone again. 3 phone batteries dead within 2 years. Purchase only if you are willing or able to have this phone replaced within the first year because it's likely to happen.

  • I have the same issue. And a replacement battery is nowhere to be found...

  • I bought a BLU Studio One Plus in Oct 2016, in Carlifonia, before I knew it , it started swelling and it would not charge again. I am so disappointed in this phone that doesnt seem to have durability It seems the BLU phones are not rugged and they are made just to make one loose his money. So I put it back in the pack and all my documents are trapped in there... I do not recommend this phone to anyone

  • Update to this! The crashing issue was with a particular app, not the phone itself. As for the screen, I left it alone and didn't notice it for the rest of the time I had it. However, it has been just over a year since I bought this phone. Last night the screen completely glitched out, touch and everything, it doesn't work. It had a good run but it looks like it's time for a new one. all in all, I hope my next phone can bring me equal performance with a longer lifespan.

  • Again, there's one dual-card holder. You can use that for dual sims, or one sim and one microSD card. Alas, can't do dual-sims and a microSD card...

  • Hi, i bought my blu studio one plus in september 2016 and two weeks after i suddenly got no display. i got it repaired but the display went twice after that. the last time i was told that its a software problem. i am totally disappointed and would like a solution without having to spend money by a technician getting it fixed over and over. now its gone again for the forth time in less than a year. Some help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I bought this phone in San Marco (near San diego) at Frys The first week after leaving, i noticed the the phone stopeed charging and seemed to swell up. I have had a rough ride with this phone that is quite disappointing in terms of its ruggedness I will NOT recommend this if you need a phone that is rugged and sleek

  • The little drawer you can pull out has two spaces. You can use both for dual sims, or one sim and one SD card (I do the latter). For me, functionality and appearance are fine, but dang I blow through that battery....

  • I've had mine for 6 months and the usb connection is loose and charging is a problem. It charged overnight, but this morning the screen is dead. I and 2 friends bought bought Blu phones various models within a month of each other, and all 3 of us have had the phones die. It is not worth the price for 6 months of use....I would suggest investing in something else.

  • SIM tray doubles as SD card reader. You can run two SIM cards or 1x SIM and 1x sdcard

  • bought this phone 5 months now, display is bright and sharp, performance is ok, no real lag unless, extreme multitasking or heavy apps,, speaker is good, there was some calling bugs where loudspeaker came on with calls, bit i got that sorted out clearing the call cache, camera quality is good, not real complaints as im an average user, the screen texture however is my main problem as is feels sticky to the touch while swiping to text etc, feels like cheap plastic front screen, already got a scratch, the body of the phone however is good aluminum, this phone is 6.8/10

  • Call the blu website it has a 1 year manufacturer website they will send you a new one within a year

  • I have studio one plus for less than a month (after installed a lot of apps) I find the same problem. Once I reset system to factory original setting, every thing is fine, battery hold charge fine too. I believe some apps eating a lot of charge. that isn't battery problem. Now I put installed apps in app page ,not in home page so far seems good,

  • SIM car slot is on the left side of the phone, the slot is very hard to see but you can see a pinhole. Use supplied pinhole opening tool (a needle} to eject SIM card holder. I can't find a way to install SD memory card.

  • Update December 2016. I no longer have the screen problem, maybe it fixed itself? Lol. No issues with battery life, but I can't figure out how to open the SIM card slot. I haven't had a crash in months. I also have not dropped it and I'm very careful with it. Plays games like a dream! 3d mobile rpgs are a breeze, though you'll want to have a charger available for when things are battery-intensive.

  • Installing SIM card: The slot is on the left side of the phone, you can use special pin needle tool key to eject the SIM card holder. The holder is small but can hold two SIM card in different sizes. So far I still can not find where is the SD card slot and how to open it. Is there any one can help us? Thanks

  • how to off the camara shutter sound

  • I bought this phone and loved it for the first 3 months, now I've had it for 4 months and it won't hold a charge at all in fact when it is on charge the battery level goes down I only get about 30 minutes of use out of it and the rest of the day it has to stay on charge or it won't work. I'm so disappointed in this phone and will never get another one from blu.

  • I've had this phone for about 4 months. I was excited about the great camera stats and I like the way it looks so I really wanted to like it. But the camera particularly impressive, though not awful. The call quality however, is awful. The worst on any phone I've ever had, in fact, and this is including the $13 flip phone I had years ago. I don't use a cell phone provider, I use Google Hangouts and make calls on Wi-Fi so it's possible that's the issue, but I have seen other people complaining about the sound quality in reviews. Most people can understand me 80% of the time but when I call for take-out, it's so impossible for them to understand me that I end up having to hang up and call with my husband's phone. I assume this is because the background noise is pretty loud in those places, so what is usually awful sound quality(according to every friend I've called) becomes completely ineffective. I used wi-fi to make calls with my last two phones and never had this problem. And for the last few days my battery doesn't seem to want to charge past 25% or so and even getting to that point takes a really long time. I got best phone under $40 Walmart replacement warranty. So after 4 months I am having to accept that it sucks all around and I plan to replace it as soon as possible.

  • I thought this phone was hardy and resilient. Two months after I got it, I cracked it's digitizer screen and it kept working. I dropped it in a muddy puddle and it kept working. But now, six months after I purchased it, the battery has gone bonkers and will not charge. I can hardly get it to turn on and when it does, it gives weird battery percentage readings...one minute it's at 8% and the the next it's at 80%. The charging/micro usb port also seems to be of poor quality as the male micro usb jack doesn't hold the pin properly.

  • I lost sim holder of this 1+. I can't find it elsewhere. I'll be never buy this BLU.

  • bought in early September, U.S.A.... 4G and 4G lte, all good on straight talk, (Walmart),supposed to be Verizon tower's, live in western N,C, mountain's. Verizon best here, dropped them after 8 yrs, straight talk, working just as well. BLU Studio one plus.no complaint's,so far.

  • yes

  • Bought in June $150 and it's worked alright. Crashes once in a while. One major thing I noticed is the barely visible gap between the screen and back parts. It still works fine, but it's as if the screen could pop off if pried further. Doesn't seem like the best made quality..I'd like to have it repaired or refunded. Otherwise it's worked just fine for me.

  • I purchased this phone in USA. It is not supporting 4G or 4G LTE in any net work like airtel, idea and reliance jio. I think it is not compatible. Will any one show the Salvation.

  • I bought this phone in July and already it needs a new screen and i do not know how to source one.

  • I also wanted to run two SIM cards plus a memory card. They didn't tell me at the store that that wasn't possible either

  • Does this phone support quick charge?

  • How to take the back from a blue studio one phone

  • After 6 days my screen went our. Crappy yet asteticslly attractive.people font buy a phone cause it's pretty.I learned the hard way

  • I have this phone for less than two months and the battery is not good I now need a new battery. I can't use both sim and memory card.

  • Nope, it doesn't have a gyroscope And it starts malfunctioning after about a month. Don't by this crappy phone

  • I don't know. This hole LTE "thingy" still confuses me. I went to Wikipedia....still frequency versus band confuse me. I hope it is as simple as: Forget frequency, just look at band! I was just looking at the "LTE" symbol that popped up in US. It did not pop up in Europe.

  • Everything is cool, except : - Technical support says that there is no planned Marshmallow (Android 6) migration as of this day (30/08/2016) (nor to android 7 for that matter). The common 10 % Battery bug will persist, even though it look like it stopped on my device (The 10% battery bug is a dysfunction within the device software, that drain the phone battery in like 4 or 5 mins maximum after it hits the 10, 9,8 or 7% battery level). We need Update BLU, we can't just stay on Lollipop. - Speakers aren't that loud. - Voice quality in both receiving and emitting is just slightly above "Ok". - You can't insert an extension CARD (memory) if you're planning on using both sim cards slots. (If I knew that detail, wouldn't have bought the phone).

  • does any body knows if this phone has a Gyroscope sensor? like to be able to use the augmented reality AR settings, like Pokémon GO and zombies at the table?

  • thanks

  • Can I put a password on it?

  • 5.5 in. is the size or the phone

  • I had a Blu Studio XL for a year and loved it. I was looking for a smaller screen, LTE, and a better camera. I found it with this phone. Its a great looking phone. I have had it for 3 weeks now and no complaints. The only thing I noticed compared to my Studio XL phone was battery life. The Octa-core processor and the higher pixel screen draw more power from the battery. so I get about a day usage with this phone. I was spoiled with the Studio XL because I got at least 2 days of usage. so if you do casual web surfing emails and facebook. You should have no problems with this phone.

  • Refers to the difference between just the glass touch screen and the entire phone front(glass plus surrounding bezel and keys). For example if a phone had all glass touchscreen on the front the ratio would be 100%. If half the front was a touchscreen and half surrounding bezel then the ratio is 50%.

  • Why didn't work in Europe the phone has lte band 7 a european lte band, was it because your sim provider didn't use this band for lte?

  • pardon for my ignorance, but can some one please tell me what---5.5 inches (~81.6% screen-to-body ratio) means??? I don't really know what screen to body ratio means!!!

  • Is this phone have auto-brightness?

  • Is this phone have auto-brightness?

  • I bought this phone in US and now I am using it in Europe. LTE is not working of course, but still on a good day I get up to 20 down and 5 up. One thing I observed immediately was that the buzzer (vibrator chip) had a cheap feel, like it had a lower frequency then in other phones. Hard to explain, it just felt cheaper. But it has become less irritating, either it has been "burnt in" or I have got used to it. Other then that I must say it is a great phone. I have been using it for 2 months now. The camera is great. The battery life is the best I have had in any phone. Still have to charge it every night though, but I always have 30% left when it is time to plug in a charger. I am not a heave user with games and web browsing, but I use Google maps a lot. Other phones has left me stranded with an empty battery in the afternoons because of Google maps. So I was forced to have an extra battery pack with me to be able to perform my work. This has so far not been necessary with this phone. Its a little bit big as all other 5,5 phones. 64 gig SD card slot is great. The dual SIM system with either a SD card or a nano SIM in the same slot is stupid. Ok, you can have dual SIM, but who doesn't wan't to have music on a SD card on their phone? On top of that, if you have (like me) a SD card and a Micro SIM in the 2 slots, then the phone calls that SIM number 2! Shouldn't this be the standard setup and in this configuration the SIM should be named number 1. It doesn't make a difference but when I was unboxing the phone and started it up for the first time it confused me, and I thought I had put the SIM in the wrong slot. Small complaints, all in all its a great phone. I have never felt that this phone is a low budget phone.

  • Nice input. I was having the same question why BLU could make a phone with over 81% of screen to body ratio! So they couldn't and faked it.

  • The back is metal while the front is plastic.

  • The back is metal while the front is plastic.

  • can some one please tell me if this device, is built in metal frame, and also if the back cover is metal or is all plastic?

  • It will last all day and even give you a few hours the next day. This is usually with low to moderate use. For heavy users, you'll get 4 hours of screen on time.

  • does this phone´s battery last all day???

  • These phones have the same camera's both upfront and back. The processor is the same with the same amount of ram and GPU graphics as well. They both have the same UI with 5.1 near stock experience. The only different is the screen size and the back of the Life One X is a rubbery plastic while the One Plus looks to be a metal back or a smooth plastic. I have the Life One X and its a fast phone for $149. You cannot go wrong with either.

  • can somebody tellme wich is the best option between the BLU Studio One Plus or the life one X (2016), about camera quality, heavy gaming, processor speed, and battery performance???

  • If you need a great phone with a so so camera, this one works. It's not as good of cameras as the 640xl lumia. That I can say for sure. I came from a lumia 640xl to this. Not even close on the camera. Performance wise , the speed is great. Very fast phone. Screen is fine also. No complaints. Just the camera...

  • I can't on my data on my studio selfie

  • I originally intended to purchase the BLU Vivo 5 but there was none in stock. I then noticed the Studio One Plus on display and after checking it out for about 5 minutes (love how it felt in my hand) I bought it. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and it has been great so far. The display is much sharper than the Vivo 5 and the battery life is amazing compared to my old phone. 1 charge easily lasts me 2 days doing mostly texts, emails and making calls, with some light web browsing. WiFi reception is excellent and 4G connection speeds have also been good. I love the pure stock Android experience it has and I'm glad that BLU stayed with stock and didn't skin it like the Vivo 5 and Vivo XL. I wish it had double tap to turn on the screen but that is a minor gripe. The camera is OK in bright conditions but low light makes it harder to focus but i know this is to be expected in this price range. I would have preferred the larger storage and RAM of the Vivo 5 but I have been very happy with the Studio One Plus. I hope BLU keeps its promise to upgrade it to Android 6 but based on its past record, I won't hold my breath.

  • I received my Blu Studio One Plus, having purchased it because of the large 5.5" HD display and supposed small size. The specs from Blu are that the phone is 143.5mm tall & 71.2mm wide. The thickness given is inconsistent -- one place on their info sheet says 7.6mm thick, & another says 8.7mm thick. It seems Blu can't even measure the size of their phones! I measure 152.8mm tall, 76.4mm wide, & about 8.5mm thick. So in actuality, the footprint isn't "small" like I thought based on Blu's specs, but rather quite average. It about the same as the Honor 5X, which has the same size screen & resolution, and has a very desirable fingerprint reader. It's nowhere close to the 81% screen-to-body ratio mentioned is several places. Nice job, Blu!

  • You mean, Gionee, alview..
