  • It's like a rebranded mini Galaxy Note II without the S-pen. I was looking for a cheap used phone when my V10 broke. I found this gem instead of a Galaxy Note II, the Korean version of Galaxy Win (SHV-E500S) I like it, it's very nimble and cute, even though it has very small storage and RAM, yet it performs as well as a Galaxy Note II with a much smaller body. Just do not hope to play the current 3D games. Old 3D games such as Temple Run would be OK. :)

  • I've been using the dual-SIM version of this, the I8552, for over 2 years now. Pretty solid phone. Camera is slow in taking a picture. It has been slowing down of late, probably because its small RAM and the newer apps are more resource-intensive. No more upgrades available for its OS. This might have been a good buy 2 years ago, with its quad-core processor. But if you're planning to buy this phone today, consider buying a newer model. Or if you insist in buying this phone, it might be good to root the phone and use a modified ROM like CM.

The simple trick is to clean your phone for every 6 months and I recommend to root the device once its more than a year old..You can save or tranfer contacts and media files to system or another phone before doing this...I bought samsung edge 7 recently but I still use this phone for music and gaming purpose since I do not want install more apps on my new device..

The Cpu is not strong enought even the creepy screen resolution : - showing the gallery pics ? It takes 10 sec. - wanna call someone ? 10 sec also to take a look at your contacts list. - many apps crashes (even google+ or some system apps) : black or white screens, buttons useless, battery unplugded needs, ... Samsung ? Never more for me.

  • This phone has good battery back up,i am using this phone since one year, depends up on your use and the service provider card you are using, the reason is that, whenever i use Vodafone card for data use, my battery lasts for at least one and half day minimum, but when i switch to Uninor for data use, its bad tower reception nearly drains my whole battery in time less than one day every night i get low battery signal and at morning phone is switched off (but not with the Vodafone or idea network).. over all i get nice battery back up with this phone.

  • Great phone, great design, great size. Works quite smoothly but you might need external memory card or it will start lagging soon. I bought it 2 years ago, now the screen starts to black out sometimes. WORST FRONT CAMERA EVER. If you like taking selfie, srsly, don't buy this one. It's so dark you won't be able to see your face indoor. Main camera is good though.

  • This is a very bad phone. This is my worst phone ever I have bought. First of all u can't keep more then 15 apps. It will hang. Battery backup is normal bt when the battery comes to 15% it will swith off after 2 or 3 minutes. Don't ever imagine to play game here. It will suck like hell. Even it can't play a simple game. The spec off this phone is very low with comparision to price. The phone lags n hang so much. Very bad phone from samsung. I will never buy a samsung phone anymore. I brought dis at Rs. 14900.   • Great phone. Only drawback is android updation is not released by company. Otherwise best phone of Samsung I have ever used. I hav been using this phone for more than 8 months.   • Doesn't take USB? Do you mean you can't view the contents of your phone and external sd using a USB cable plugged in PC? If yes, it should work. You can even charge your phone using usb cable.

  • Like the rest of you, I was also disappointed when I found out that this phone will not be given a KitKat update. But I moved on from that phase and focused on what are the uses of an Android phone for me aside from call and text. 1. Reading ebooks - 4.7 inches is the perfect size for me. especially when using Cool Reader app. 2. Taking photos - It only has 5mp (and VGA front camera) and with noises, but what I love about the stock app is you can manually operate it. It even has a macro mode which I used loads of times and was perfectly happy with the results. With proper light and a little knowledge about photography, anyone can have a decent to beautiful photos using this. Do not think bigger pixels are better unless you want to print a poster-size of it. 3. Listening music - the simplicity of the stock music app is okay, plus I tried playing music for more than 2 hours straight (screen most of the time was off) and the battery didn't even reached 90% from full charged. 4. Watching videos - I watched two straight movies and I didn't even reached the 30%. 5. Unless you will use the tether or data plan, the battery will be fine for hours of internet browsing using WIFI. 6. Playing games - I always carry around a power bank if I plan to do this when I am out. Tips: 1. Uninstall or unable the apps that you don't need. 2. Clean your phone using History Eraser, Clean Master, etc.. In my experience, cache slows down my phone. 3. Set external SD card as your primary storage place and transfer files saved in your internal to external SD to save you more space. So basically, it will help a lot if you will stick to the apps that you really need and get rid of the rest.

  • You can upgrade it to Kitkat manually. It has 1g of ram so no problem upgrading it to Kitkat. My friend's galaxy win has no problem when i upgraded it to Kitkat. If you dont know how to upgrade manually just email me and i will teach you step by step.

  • Just bakvas phone. anyone likes to play games i will suggest him to don't buy that phone. because even game like subway surfer game is lagging too much. And it doesn't supports 720p & 1080p HD videos even using mx player. it hanging too much and heating too much. we are paying 15000 for that stupid phone why. after using that phone for two months i was sold it down and turned to micromax canvas 2plus. really a good gaming phone and running games like gta & modern combat without a single lag. really a good phone i m using it from last 7 months and didn't found any single problem in it.

  • Hushhh! After searching for a long time... I found that 3G works on SIM1 only and not on SIM2. That is why I was facing issues on 3G network on SIM2. So, If you are using 3G network, make sure you use SIM1 for 3G data network. Enjoy... Overall Great Phone... :)

  • Check the configuration of the charger u r using and use the correct charger then there won't be any problem. If still the problem continues check the battery if it's not bulged. If bulged then change the battery.

  • Maybe it's the app you use not the phone per se. Try using mx player it has Sw and HW setting. Between the two of them every movie file I downloaded worked properly there.

  • It really depends on how you will use it aside from the basic stuff. This phone is perfect for me but I am not a gamer nor too heavy on internet use so the performance and battery might be different for you. Regarding the longevity, Samsung Win is fairly new to predict how long it will last. We just hang on the hope that it will until we decided a new one.

  • the main purpose of the front cam is for video call not for taking selfie photos.. why VGA? its because low resolotion videos has smaller size too which is easy to transmit especially if you don't have high speed internet connection or you are only in 3G mode.. to avoid excessive heating of the unit and battery try to turn off unused wireless connections such as wifi, bluetooth, gps etc.. try also to close all background apps. it uses cpu and memory that consumes battery..

  • I have used for over a month now 1. Good phone for normal business ppl. 2. Response is very fast 3. Rear Camera photos have good quality with LED flash, low light photos not good. Camera has auto focus so its good. Response is bit slow but its ok for daily purpose 4. Battery lasts for a day and couple of hours if internet is not used extensively. 5. Can play 720P with some lag here and there. But not a problem with 480p.

  • Hi.. m using Samsung galaxy grand quattro i8552 , this is very nic phone and its price is approx 14 k... but my frnd has xolo q1000 opus... n its price is approx 10 k... n it has upgradeable 4.4 kitkat android, otg support, hd video recording, cortex a7 videocore iv quad core processor... xolo q1000 opus is very good budget phone... it has all things that we want...but why Samsung couldn't launched the upgradable android on Samsung grand quattro... this is very big question... if u look moto g... it has also 4.4 kitkat android, faster processor than grand quattro and hd video recording. Samsung has recently launched the s duos 2 and grand neo it has also 4.2 android and 720p video recording... then why quattro is very last... it doesn't support hd video recording, it doesn't have android 4.2 jelly bean or kitkat, it has only cortex a5 processor and adreno 203... which is very slow. Xolo q1000 opus and moto g is best in other side... but I still love Samsung and plz upgrade the Android only.. that's my wish...

  • FOR MID-RANGE the phone is good..pretty smooth transitions.. the size fits to my hands and the display is decent as mid-range phone.. play videos on HD and mp4 format- use 3rd party apps. for camera- apps are around there making your pics dramatic. battery- as usual poor but bearable. as to updates, this is only 4.1.2 and no more updates coming. buy high end phones for u to have updated OS from manufacturers Y/Y.

  • Its a very good phone. My basic usage of phone is calling, e-mail,sending messages and for navigation. It has a document viewer too which reads pdf and Microsoft Documents (word, excel, powerpoint. I have downloaded Whatsapp and app killer app from the Google play. Screen freezing and hanging is a normal phenomenon in all smart phones. I follow the normal drill of restarting the phone early in the morning and run the appkiller to prevent hanging. A great 5 MP camera with video recording facilities. Its a Value for Money mobile.

  • Very hard to imagine, looking at the list of devices for kitkat updates from samsung. They have released about million different smartphone devices in the last 2 weeks alone.   • Go for Moto G, the best performer in mid range android devices. I have worked with both Quattro and Moto G. Moto G is superior to Quattro in the following. 1. Display 2. Performance (no lag or whatsoever, all high end games run smoothly without any issues) 3. Camera (lot of certified reviewers in flipkart are saying camera in Moto G is average. But I have compared Moto G and Quattro and Moto G is better) Only thing you need to consider is Touchwiz launcher in Quattro is much more functional than plain android in Moto G. If you are already used to samsung android devices, you will have little bit of trouble in learning to use Moto G for initial few days. However the performance difference would make that effort worth it.

  • Hi Dear, No need to go for Quattro. Go for moto-G. Samsung does not provide latest OS for their previously launched phones, which also implies, they will NOT support in later mobiles. Moto-G is cheaper than Quattro, Dual core processor, 8GB/16GB options (but no extra storage). BUT it gives Android 4.3 Jellybean (latest), screen resolution (IPS) far better than this one. Cons as compared to MotoG No HD Screen resolution lesser Battery backup OS old (with no future options)

  • I'm planning to buy a new phone and I have 2 options available. Which one is better between Samsung Galaxy Win and Samsung Galaxy Core? The only thing that's holding me back from buying Win is it's ppi pixel density of 199 which is much lower than Core. So is the display just alright or bad? My first choice was Core but I saw Win and I think it looks more sleek and bigger. It would be the perfect phone for me if only the ppi is as good as Core or S3 mini which is AMOLED. Having a quadcore processor is amazing but I'm really bothered but its ppi. Please help me with this.
