Very bad quality. very easy for the rom to get corrupted and then bricked. Many dead ideos s7 by many people. Just google for it and you will find A LOT of "automated" bricking. You turn them off and they never turn on again. Beware I warned you.

I am having serious problems also storing to my SD card. Some apps will be stored on the card while others on the internal memory. This eats up my memory making the tablet unstable. What can be done?

Yes it has a video out in its dock, but s7 docks are hard to find. Its fully compatible with office app (I've used quick office, picsel smart office and kingsoft office)

It can be tricky to get an original; I tried to find one as a spare, some 6 months ago but coudn't find one :( But I got one that does the job very well although it comes with a US plug so I needed a EU plug to stick on to be able to use it in the Netherlands ;) The charger has 100V ~ 240V AC 50/60Hz input and 5V DC 2,5Amp out. There is a extentsion cable included that fits the charge plug on the Ideos S7. The original cable from the wallcharger doesn't fit directly in the S7's power socket thouhg. Hi all, My first post so pls be kind. Comments on the two Huawei Ideos S7's I have, compared to a friend's Samsung P1000 which I have used often. 1. Limited memory, holds only a few big apps. 2. Replacement parts unavailable 3. No office app preinstalled, need to get one from android market. 4. Very, very limited battery life. Usually battery goes flat when navigating in less than one hour. 5. Screen is resistive not capacitative and so is not very sensitive. 6. Despite these limitations, have still found it very useful. 7. Huawei S7 was sold here in Australia in a modified version under the name 'Telstra T Touch Tab' for lowest price $US 98, current price $US 270 :( 8. Huawei S7 is definately not nearly as good as even the now superceded 7 inch Galaxy Tab model # P1000, lowest price was sold here in Australia about $US 265, current price $US 410 :(, so that should give you a good idea of the relative merit of the two machines. 9. This Samsung P1000 is a good tablet, easy to use, good size & weight, sensitive capacitative screen. I believe that, though superceded, compared to the current competitors, around $US 180 would be a fair price for a new 3G one of them. 6. The best 7 inch tablet now is definately the latest Samsung 7 inch model P6810. It is the only 7 inch with the great OLED screen, and has a faster processor than its competitors. It is available for around $US480, and is probably worth that price. 7. More recent competitors such as the Dell Streak have been sold here for about $US260. It would be an ok buy, but is not as good as the more expensive Samsung 7.7. 8. My advice is if you need a 7 inch tablet, buy the latest Samsung 7.7 model P6810 inch tablet if you have the money. It has wifi but no 3G. Note that if you need 3G that version is more expensive again. 9. If you cannot, try to afford one of its competitors, eg. Dell Streak is reasonably priced but not the best one of them. 10. If you cannot, and the Huawei S7 is available new for no more than $US100, only then could I recommend it, because it is better than no tablet at all. Hope this helps.

Yes you can make/receive phone calls and use the headset (which is included in some countries)for privicy. If you don't use the headset, the phone only works 'on speaker' so other people can listen to your calls ;) The Huawei has a normal dialer and contacts list like every cell phone. And you can easily compose text messages fast on the large screen (I'm using SlideIt from the Market) And yes, you can do everything with the Huawei you would with a smartphone (not only the iPhone) GPS works like a charm also and locks very fast. You can even put a micro-sd card in unlike the iPhone!

I've been looking for the docking system for this unit for quite sometime. The web sight has nothing to accomodate to this device.After doing some research (in which you may want to do your own to be sure,) However, Samsung Galaxy tablet's dock comes closet to working with Huawei S7.. Not all S7's have a resistive screen. The later models S7-105 do have a CAPACITIVE screen. (I'm form the Netherlands, Europe and I've got one) You can update to FroYo 2.2.2 which is running great btw! And you can use 'apps 2 SD' with FroYo so less storage problems if you want to install many apps. These are installed on my S7:

If the tablet is not yet running Froyo 2.2.2 you should be able to update. With the 2.2.2 the tablet is running very smooth though, even with quite some apps installed! AFAIK there is no newer version available and I doubt there ever will be for the S7-(101/102/105) as there is the newer S7 Slim and the MediaPad running Honeycomb 3.2

If you are on Froyo (2.2.2) NEVER EVER use a task killer because Froyo does it better by itself!! Try to lower the brightness from the screen to some 35% if you're indoors. You'll be able to get at least 4 hours from your battery ;) Btw got Latitude running? That's one bat. eater.

@neil My advice is to download Advance Task Manager and set it to kill unused task regularly (mine is set every 30 mins). Sadly, this tablet really eats away battery especially when using 3g, i only last around 3-4 hrs with 3g on non-stop surfing. I have heard of tweaking the processor (underclocking and undervolting) but i don't have the slightest idea how to do that.

I got my S7-105 two months ago for only 100 euros(SALE) It was new but Belcompany (a chain of telephone stores in the Netherlands) discontinued the model in their shops in favor of the Galaxy Tab :( I then immediately updated to the Indonesian 2.2.2 and everything worked like a charm! The only thing you have to do is putting back the APN-settings from your provider. Flash also works perfect altough I removed it because it uses 10MB and I needed more space (for the Documents To Go app) Just keep in mind the ROM is limited in capacity so you'll have to make priority to the apps you install because not all apps can be moved to SD. Here are the apps I've installed: I only got 23MB free left ;) I'm very pleased with the tablet. The capacitive screen works perfect. Battery life gives me approx. 4 hours of non-stop i-net/music/gmail use. I bought 2 extra separate batteries, a charger and a leather sleeve: Beside the Huawei Ideos S7 I also use a Samsung Galaxy S with the following apps: I hope this info helps you all to have even more fun with your S7 Grtz, Kath

Has anyone tried to upgrade their s7-105 with from 2.1 to 2.2 using the Indonesian ROM version? I have been reading mixed reviews regarding its compatibility with the model released in the Philippines. Update install process: 1. unrar the file, and copy/create the 'dload' folder to the root directory of a sufficiently large external SDcard formatted to FAT/FAT32 (readable by the S7) SDcard contents should be like this : +SDCard -+dload ---+updata.app ---+unlmt.cfg 2. turn off the unit, and ensure that you are either plugged in with a battery inside the unit, or that you have enough charge left in your battery 3. turn on, and a progress bar will appear in the middle of the screen. Wait until "OK" is displayed on the screen. 4. turn off the unit by removing the battery and any powerplugs to the S7. **If you done this twice already, proceed to step 6 5. repeat steps 3,4 again. otherwise it will hang at boot screen (instructed by Huawei) 6. Remove the SD card and start the device. If you wish the use the card for the device, remove the firmware files from the SD card before reinserting it. Huawei S7 105 is the cheapest and yet the best for me. If you are having troubles with flashplayer then i advise to use it as a modem. just download the Easy tether apps and you will be able to see everything. with regard to skyfire i just downloaded it erlier so i'll have a look at it first. In terms of battery life its fair for me. Just use it wisely. hihi

I have had an S7-105 Android 2.1.for a few days and thorroughly tested it; it does not fun flash but if you install Skyfire you will be able to play flash files It can play MPEG2 videos preferably on Vplayer excellent GPS function on google maps with GSM data connection Excellent phone.This tablet which has just reached France is a superb piece of equipment. with a great OI Upgrading to Android 2.2 seems a bit tricky and not necessary when using Skyfire the only problem is the limited ROM. capacity.Downloading from the Market takes ages. one way to circumvene this shortcoming is to download apks onto the internal 8G card via a computer GREAT TABLET

Fantastic tablet and great price.Have used for seven months and still impressed.There is so much misinfo from people not familiar with it and to quick to criticise. The only missing feature is inability to play flash and thats down to the OS which could be upgraded to 2.2. As with any device you need to go into settings and or add aps to customise for your own use.If you fail to look deeper into this tablet or the latest slim your'e missing a bargain quality product that has more features than the competition at twice the price.

Specs are not completely correct, because these specs depends on model number. How: Ideos S7-101 has only A-GPS an one camera only, processor speed is 768 mhz and 256 mb ram 0-4 gb storage, no microSD card. Ideos S7-103 has two cameras, 256 mb ram and 4 gb storage microSD card Ideos S7-104 has also two cameras 512 mb ram, 8 gb memory gps and resistive screen and 768 mhz processor. Ideos S7-105 has two cameras, 512 mb ram, 8 gb microSD, CAPACITIVE screen, and 1 ghz processor.
