i have use this phone for over 3yrs today .this phone has lots of drawbacks like can't play mp3,poor battery,very slow an freezes a lot but despite this shot comings i still like it because of durability an connectivity.Dear siemens s65 user i must comment dat this phone is the best for those who are out phone.it has a longer life span more than any phone u can fine in the market today.

It's about the 3rd time i write an opinion here about this particular phone. I want to say that despite entering it's 6th year of usage and the 4th year of my ownership my dear old s65 still holds well. The only criticism I have is the somewhat modest battery life, otherwise though, it's an impecable phone. It doesn't have great multimedia capabilites, nor did it impress in this array when it was launched, but it is very classy, it's design is all bussines with a dash of descreet ellegance, and it still has top notch organising capabilities, which allthough standard today were a high praise in mobile phones of yesteryear. Other strong points include excuisite microphony and sound quality and key ergonomy very well above average. Also, the quality of the actual materials is absolutely wonderfull, even by today's standards. It's no secret that Siemens phones had problems by the time the S65 hit the market, and it shows very well: the poor battery life and mediocre to average signal strength hurt the sales. It was also to damn pricy when brand new. But this device is far from being declared unusable. Whith short interruptions when i switched to other phones simply of curiousity about a week or two, I have used my mint condition second hand S65 about 4 years, and it's still going like a jaggernaut. Also, among other Siemens phones, I have bought and sold repeteadly about a dozen S65's from different lots of production, ranging from worn-out ones to almost new units, including a rare mint SP65 non-camera model. Neither has broken down and are still being used by their owners in car kits. So, to all of you siemens haters, yes, the famed german mobile manufacturer went bust, but it's products will still provide telephony service to die-heart fans.

I have had a Siemens S65 for nearly four years now and it has not disappointed me at all. Well, lets say its battery is not the best, and its keys fail once in a while, but its the best phone that ever left German Hands! Will the Germans give us another like that?

I've had one of these wonderful phones for more than 4 years, the battery has finally given up and the local banch of "Auto page" tells me they are no longer avaliable.The battery only lasts a few hours now and I have resorted to a Samsung but there is no comparison. I'm devastated, can you help?

it's a good fone, that you can trust on, but it is f*cking slow... and it can't play music (mp3,mp4) either :( the pictures aren't so good either, compared with the motorola v3 0.3 mp camera... I bought a nokia, i would never buy it again.

its the 3rd s65 ive had ,and it still serves me well, if you want mp3 you cand find it on russian or czech sites. you should look for firmware 58 to update , crack the codes with papua utils and patch it with vklay patching utility the mp3 palyers name is mp3 elf player the elf are the software that use the mobile to process information ,good luck !! its worth it i have a 1gb card and 900mb of mp3 music that i can play fairly good + headset and your pimpd:D

To all of you who have criticeised this handset I'd like to describe how it feels like to live every day with a siemens s65. This phone has a mediocre camera, mediocre display, mediocre multimedia functions. The only thing i can complain about is the display. I don't care about the lack ofg mp3, radio or camera. It's a buissnes phone and my god it has features that you would expect to find in a symbian phone. Example: survival dictionary, calculator running in java, giant call history, self tester for buttons and camera. I know you will say you can't compare this to a symbian and you might be right but just think about it: if you want a reliable quality product with no 3rd party software drama ( doesn't need to run in background ) this is the phone for you. Nokia say that their e50 model is the succesor of the legendary 6310i. I have 2 s65's for about a year now and I can say if you want a quality discrete reliable serious buisness-like phone this is it. Forget that the s65 is old as a model. The design still looks fresh and not exciting, but somewhat intriguing. The upside is that it's dirt cheap compared to all other upper class phones. The design is great the keypad is brilliant the whole quality feel is impresing still after 4 years from the market launch. Battery life is also modest. I'm not saying this phone is better than the new offerings, that would be stupid. But if you were a siemens fan and want an original siemens ( before benq took over) the s65 is the greatest.

Like many other Siemens phones, it has problems with the keys. I have this phone for a year and a half now and I cannot press half of the keys. Camera is terrible and the voice recorder is useless! But it has few advantages: it memorizes the length of an unanswered or a missed call; its copy/paste ability is very useful in sms writing; organizer is perfect! If you have to buy Siemens, you should buy this one, otherwise, don't take it even for half of its price!

I have for some reason had this phone for three years now. I bought it because I wanted a functional phone with a good calendar, tri-band and big display. I got it and even if all newer phones are better it's still good. The only thing I have to complain about is the battery which after a year started to last for three days, and now I charge it every 2. day. But still a good phone which I'll keep as a second-phone when changing into samsung D600 next week

About the Siemens S65: - The camera lens has no lens cover, so the lens will always be dirty, so your pictures will always be horrible unless you clean the lens every time :-( - The setup for using this phone for surfing the web does not work :-( I also get no MMS, no java downloading etc. - People recommend upgrading the firmware. To do that you need to buy an expensive cable :-( - No MP3 :-( - No radio :-( Nokia, here I come!

I bought the phone at the end of 2006 for a very low price at an end life sales. I was atracted for the 1.3 Mp camera but in 3 months I sold it very dissapointed.No MP3 ands still memory card????... The quality of the photos is very, very low. Photos made with VGA Sony Ericsson k700 are much better. The design is quite good, but if you want to write a SMS, is very difficult. It was my first Siemens and I think the last after Nokia bought the German group. My qualification: 9 for design, 8 for features, 5 for performance.

I had the S65 since2004 and it still works well for me.Battery life is short but works like the first day.A gread speaker provides outstanding communication comfort,while the cammera is still a shock to me, but I have no use of cammera(good for me). a really bad thing is camera make too much noise when no sunshine.. need very very bright light to get some great pics..device wit the latest software are stable enough.. then mp3 is not what expected to be popular in their coming year..so if it's only embedded with mp3 player. s65 will be 1 good phone

I bought one in december I posted an older opinion on this forum I complained about it alot it had many flaws but out of the blue it stopped making any problems for me...disatvantages: bad camera on shady and night environments, no mp3, no radio, small display resolution, sometimes software works slow advantages: EVERYTHING ELSE; calendar settings like never seen before, contacts profiles and calculator so comprehensive and complete you would say it's a palmtop. Main + cheaper to buy than a 6230i even if that has better camera and multimedia devices. And if you like the s65's classy and discrete look in the photos you'll love it in real life it's actually quite ergonomic even if you'd think otherwise and the black keys with transparent glass look are exquizite NOT THE GREATEST PHONE BUT DEFENETLY A BARGAIN

This is really bad device....lots of problems with it..... sold it month after purchase...after 2 weeks in service...my problems: bad reception not big problem - good network in Slovakia, terribly slow, hangs often, turning off by itself, lowest row of keys not working from time to time, terribly week battery..barely 1 day is terribly short duration.... Kind of a lot, don�t you think? and I have�t mentioned everything.... Please DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!

dear Jim about your problem I dont know if i can be of much help but here goes: siemens have allways had problems with signal in the past or atleast from what I heard; also I had 2 - 3 sl45 and later 2 A50 all of these great phones but sucked with signal and sim reader allways had that damn CARD ERROR message :) this S65 has great signal and keep in mind that it was used 9 months before me so all of them must have great signal reading capabilities I have a nokia 1100 that has worse signal I suggest exchanging the signal unit; ... anyway I took mine to a mobile service and they fixed the keypad they said it could be the circuit board of the key that is busted fortunatelly it wasn't.. they cleaned it and now it works if u say yours has no lights probably you have to replace that certain circuit board; my advice be extra carefull with the autenticity of the part I know for a fact that if it is not original it will melt to temperatures excediing 300 Celsius degrees and in 1 or 2 weeks it wount work again I bought this phone because I am a fan of buisness phones like siemens s45 sl45 nokia 6310i but the s65 is very difficult to use and maintainance is expensive. It is almoust like you can feel Siemens's lack of founds and logistics when they developed the phone just by using it (i think they made it just before selling to benQ when they were declining) This phone is the Cinderella of buisness mobiles I just like its design and the fact that is twice as cheap as a nokia 6230i. So what I am saying is that we are going to have a lot of trouble with them and if you decide to keep it in the future get prepared for some serious reliability issues P.S. i took it to the service and now the keys work but it went off a couple of times for no reason and now the end call key loses contact from time to time THIS PHONE IS A BEAUTIFULL NIGHTMARE :) Best of wishes Gusti

u can make wav ima-adpcm with 8 kHzon mp3 and u can put in all x65 and x55 phones if u have memory, and u can do that with sony sound forge 8 (j dont know some aplication that do with 16 kHz ima-adpcm. if someone know please tell me). And one more thing if any know how i can upgrade memory on m65 if it is posible.

try this Only IMA-ADPCM with 8 or 16 kHz, 4 bit resolution and the file size transfering should be no bigger than 90kb. Make sure you put .wav on the name of the file sometimes it isnt on the file and the phone wont read it. For music, use Java MP3 Player (Ultra MP3), but you can use ogg player too, the files are smaller than MP3.

i just both my phone a week ago, until now it doesn't have any problems, to bad you can't play mp3, and if i convert mp3 to wav, the converted mp3 has over 30 mb..how should i fix this?

i know.. i know.. i know..!!couldn't believe my luck when i purchased this for �50 off t-mobile payg. quickly had it chipped to use my o2,, BANG!!despite downloading from O2 and siemens still cant use email, wap.. worse again.. cant send text msgs :-( finally bit the bullet and paid for 75p a min for siemens customer "care". ultimately it would appear t-mobile have installed software to ensure other networks can't use these features?? is this true.. and if so.. can i find a way of replying to texts, using wap, email etc etc..?? help would be much appreciated.. off to but an o2 phone tommorrow,, in desperation!

i just got this phone and im already starting to think about bring it bak! the camera went funny and the screen like split in half(really odd). i went 2 do a voice recording and the hole mobile froze, and i had to pull the battery out to fix it, hmm wat else, well its not worth getting it because its to much truble coverting Mp3 to WAV or wateva u want 2 do, trust me don't get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im really ova it!! good luck if u get it...lol

Are you sure ? I have the phone and I don't hava any problems . IRDA and BT are work good . K700i it's having smaller display . S65 display it's very big . One finger more than k700i. Phone memory it's a very good . It's having 10 mb but you can get a RC card wit a 128 mb !!! On k700i there is no slot for this .Yes there is no mp3 ot s65 but .wav format is good . Smaller and the sound is good . I use and k700i and S65 but k7001 is in trash . S65 is winner for me .

I bought this phone with great joy but after 4 trips to their service center. I am utter disappointed. I experience hanging, self shutdown. With the latest v50 software update, things get better with occasional sms problem like sent function not responding. Need to power off and on again to resolve it. I will stay away from siemens and benQ for awhile.

I bought my S65 November of last year... it's quite easy to use and has a fast OS... One thing though, the camera shutter could not be turned off... It also takes nice pictures during the day or in a bright room... its camera is not really suitable for taking night pictures... picture quality is nice during the day or when you're out under the sun, since the colors will come out right and quite vivid... For photos taken indoors in indoor lighting, the color of the picture becomes quite pale or light... Sadly, it can't play mp3s & some wav files.. the memory is not that big so it really can't store mp3s... But i still love this phone despite everything since this was my first camera-phone & the features of this phone is great, user-friendly and durable : )

I bought this phone second hand for less than USD150. I previously owned a Nokia 6260. Well, I was delighted. The speed of the OS is so much faster (especially accessing the MMC),lighter, more option than the Symbian Series 60(check out the variety of vibrations in Siemens S65). The camera do need care & getting use to. I love the overall design & display layout. Tips for people who complained about the battery life> reduced the "illumination" setting to 20% and u will get minimum 3 days of usage.(mine is a wear off battery unit!!) The speaker is better than 6260. The wav format, when used as ringtone is comparable to mp3 playback through phone speaker( it's smaller too). The Bluetooth in S65 give many more functions then Nokia 6260 too(when combined with my PC Bluetooth USB toggle). I'll give S65 8 out of 10 rating!!

Siemens S65. This is a company supplied phone, and others with same phone have the same faults, mainly:- turning off/browning out,(slowly shutting down+cant stop it) extremely annoying! I have tried with key lock, in a case, but you cant stop it!!!! volume control falls off. I find menus are slow, especially when in the car kit. As a general phone I find it quite good (apart from above), I use camera quite a lot at work, and find it acceptable, although not good in poor light, but if you want a camera with flash, buy a camera. IRDA works ok with laptop, pics either way (as long as sizing is ok). Its a pity there seems to be such a problem with turning off for no reason.

hello people. I want to mention some of the drawbakcs of this device and ask u some things. I had the S55 and i believe it was better mobile than this. S65 has a terrible camera(it can't give a full color spectrum when there is low lighting. even with a big room lamb or two it cannot show normal colors. conclusion? the interior/exterior function doesn't do anything. secondly about the camera. it doesn't have flash!!! S55 had. omg did anyone mechanic in siemens thought of it?anyways. another disadvandage is the black-gold theme. i mean u cannot change that gold colour on the menu icons. ecxept u download some others from around the net. another drawback is that it uses a low speed card memory that cannot also fit in a digital camera(even with adaptor).last but not least is the story with mp3s...was it hard for the programms to put a 100kb-application-mp3player in the mobile?it is annoying.anyways i want to ask someone if someone knows about any java mp3-player. so u trasfer ur mp3 onto ur mobile and open them with an java mp3 player.Is there any java mp3 player for mobile??? thank u!

To take this phone is to select features instead of reliability!! I has lot of features which sounds great, BUT it is totally unreliable - turning off, reseting, freezing in spite of having most recent freeware....really makes me angry... What is more the"cool" fetures are not as cool as they sound! Camera absolutely useless indoors/ in conditions with weaker light... games slow... and freeze... I wanted this phone a lot, after i read this opinions i was a bit frightened...but i took it. I was so disappointed! Camera is not that bad, but it hangs during application running, notes deleting, its battery lasted 9 hours of semi intensive use - believe me!!!! Really bad!! Features are kind of OK, but overally very slow.... such a pity!!! Please do not be as stupid as I was, do not buy it!!! Every user of the phone has problems!!!!

in business use, the s65 is a bad choice. battery is insufficient. calender sync with outlook is impossible when the daylight saving time switches: every appt shifts one hour and the s65-software syncs shifted events back to outlook - what a mess. repeated events with incidental changes are not supported. the s65 often switches off sponteaneously or initializing database for 10 minutes.

This is a little addition to a previous comment, after exaustive searches of the siemens website i managed to find out where they hid the vibrate alert, it is listed under the silent alert menu, i imagine this has confused many users as i expected this to be like a nokia silent profile, cancelling all ringtones. but its just the way siemens decided to list its vibrate function. pity there was no menion of this in the manuals index under vibration.

I recently purchased an S65 basing much of my decision on this websites info, sadly there are a few mistakes, the phone does NOT have a vibrate function, at least none that i can find either on the phone or in the manual. i have read reviews that criticise the camera resolution, unfortuanately they are correct, in daylight it is fine, but in low light you would never guess it was 1.3mp. the OS software that siemens use is a little shakey, i have had files corrupted when moving them from the phones internal memory to the MMC card, and understanding the layout takes a little getting used to. Personally i think siemens dropped the ball when manufacturing the S65.

I think it is a very good phone-the camera is gr8, the calender also.The battery life is quite bad but still if you don't talk a lot and if you don't play games on it all the time it you'll need to recharge it every 2-3 days which is not that bad because the large display uses up a lot of the battery.

Many people say that it crashes and has other probs. I have just bought one and it works nice. Seems that most of the annoying bugs have been corrected since, because I haven't noticed any. I have sw version 41. As far as I know, the first public sw version was 11 or so. Most of the reviews you can find were written late back when the phone appeared, and the first versions of the sw were problematic. But now it has no such problems, and it really has many useful features, like showing thumbnailes of images when looking around on the card/internal memory. And a note about RS-MMC. As you know, it is half the size of a normal MMC card, but has exactly the same connectors, so you can put it in a normal MMC slot if you have a converter that makes the RS card larger. But! You can put a normal sized MMC card into the phone and use it! half of it will be outside, so don't keep it like this in your pocket, but it can come handy for making a few more photos or copying some stuff over with bluetooth. I advise against everyday use of this "feature" but sometimes it's useful, and in my opinion, very funny.

I never use Siemens before, but this phone is a disaster!I only had it since January 2005.Quite dissapointed because it's very fragile. The model is quite nice but once you dropped it, the casing will make a cracky noise and can't get rid of it!! I've upgraded the software version, but didn't make it any better. Now, often when I'm writing an sms, the phone hang! Cannot shut it down either, last option is to take off the battery! The camera movement is bad! So does the Video! Battery life is very bad! And the worst part is the button key didn't work properly, often when i try to press shortkey, it didn't work. Definitely not a good phone! And I paid it when it's still high!

Hi2all, two days ago, I have changed my "Loyality Points" from my Provider (ONE Austria) into a brandnew Siemens S 65. I like the stylish design and the "more than enough" functionality of this phone. The display is bright and clear, eventhough without backlight. At my old phone, a NOKIA 7250i, the display was too small and not bright enough. GPRS via IRDA works fine with my Notebook. Software for the PC, internal Data Structures and the Menus are "State of the Art". Support on the German website is OK. Standby time seems to me, if you don't play too much with the camera and other functions, like the NOKIAs. What I don't like: The camera produces greyish and not really vivid pictures. Maybe this problem can be solved by a Firmware upgrade. Ciao from Vienna/Austria

i'm using the s65 for about two months now and all i can say is that this phone has great features, if they could be used, the screen is very very pixelated and badly lighted, games and screensavers are slooooow, even slower than my previuos SE T630, phone software crashes every now and then driving you mad by time, sometimes the phone just closes, not restarts, closes and you have to start it all over again, bluetooth sometimes works great and sometimes displays a message "internal bluetooth error", although restarting the phone repairs this, the camera sucks, it just takes awfull pictures like i've never seen in my life, only megapixel in resolution but the quality is terrible, i've seen VGA cameras in nokia (6600, 7600) better than this one, also the video capture is limited to thirty seconds, whatever you do you can't change these thirty seconds or expand them more, the speaker is loud and clear and reaches a very high volume when playing "wav"s or "amr"s, buttons are average, i don't really mind the buttons and i still don't understand why anyone cloud complain about buttons, connectivity with the computer is average nothing special, joystick is great, also great set of shotcuts but it takes time to memorize them all, battery lofe is average, and the most important, the phone looks just great, but it's not worth all it's price, for the same price range you get more worth phones such as SE K700, Nokia 7610, and they will give you more functions and at least they are more stable

I can also only complain that this is the worst phone I have ever had. I'm not going to complain about the camera/mp3player as I have a separate digital camera/iPod. What I want from the phone is simply for it to work - which it doesn't. The software freezes almost every other day, and here is the real killer: If you switch on your phone to make an urgent call - but don't wait looong enough for it to start up, it freezes on you and you need to restart. I'm new user of this phone (one week). Fireware 25. My opinion: Telephony & management - excellent, very clear sound (i had some noisy lowend nokia before). Great Address book - here I miss one little thing - possibility to search by nickname. Display very good display - with possibility to reduce light and save energy. For me is 10% just ok also in sunshine. Quick menu with lot of possibilities to create shortcut. Battery is weak a bit. It seems to me, that camera consumes lot of energy. I hope,that after few weeks, when I stop to play with camera, 4 days recharging cycle could be possible for my style of use (about 20 min call /day). Otherwise I must choose stronger battery. Siemens PC software - mobile phone manager is IMHO poor - it needs more than minute to start, and all this time it shows 'allways on top' splashscreen preventing me to do anything in centre of screen - but there is a great program called SiMoCo that works much quicker and better. I recommend this one. Camera - no miracles, but I have expected that (have read lot of reviews before commiting to buy this one). Outside & sunny pictures are good, inside nearly terrible. I believe that flash will help me. Video recording - i think it's unusuable. Sounds - not so bad, no bass. My favorite ringtones are played very well, but some other melodies i have tested were worse. My conclusion - great phone for it's price. It's high-end, but the cheaper one. So it cannot be perfect, but it meets my preferencees. It's strongest functions can be found also on CX65, but this one has 1. Absolutely amazing design 2. Megapixel camera, not the best in the world, but still much better than VGA.

this is not a fun phone, but it certainly is prob 1 of e most underrated & value-4-$ phones around. if u already have an mp3 player, then this is e phone 4 u. it's got everything u need and nothing that u don't. e 1.3MP cam is nothing 2 shout about, but it's still better then most phone cams. this phone is often criticised 4 its short battery life, but if u bother 2 do e initial charge proper then it's no problem really, unless u use a bluetooth headset all e time. e telephony n messaging is excellent, with a nice exterior 2 boot. thumbs up 4 S65!

I've had this phone for 6 months now and I can honestly say this is by far the worst phone Siemens have ever produced. Things to note: the battery life absolutely horrenduous; the phone locks up and crashes on a daily basis; no vice-dialing (S55 had it, what gives?); slow menu response; Bluetooth used to drop connection, fixed with fw43, though; awkward keypad and clunky buttons. My verdict: look elsewhere, Nokia 3230 looks like a good alternative.

This is a good phone with good features. I have always liked Siemens, but this one is not as good as it should be. I have bought one and thought I charged the phone this morning, now at night is almost empty so I will have to recharge tomorrow in the morning again. Battery life is very poor. Worse than many UMT's. If you just want it to last for 2 days leave it at some place and don't touch it. Screen is good but low resolution. Other features are just fine. Keypad is very uncomfortable for writing messages. Thought it can't play MP3's it plays WAV's with format DVI/IMA ADPCM 16khz which are smaller than a 128kbps MP3. It is proved. Just use CoolEdit Pro. Open a MP3, resample it and save it in the WAV format i have said. A music of 3:32 has a size of ~1,6Mb. Of course don't expect to play many musics with its poor battery life. This capability is anetdotic. The camera is good outdoors if there's much light and you are very still. Images are disfocused and with a little movement this is even more noticeable. Indoors the quality is poor. Images disfocused, dark, bad jpeg compressi�n, much noise difficult to take away, bad color, etc. If there's not much light the camera is really bad. No built in flash. No coments. Every time you take a photo you will hear a loud click and there's no way to quit it unless you use OpenDisk and a serial data cable to rename or delete the sound file in the phone's file system. A phone is not a digital camera, but if you put a camera there don't put such unusable thing, just skip it. I would prefer a good VGA camera than a bad 1,3mpx one. Any way other phones have a camera worse than this one. I have not found bugs nor hardware problems but I have heard complaints. Good phone if you find it cheap, don't care recharging very often with almost no use and don't need advanced features. In that case there are other better phones.

This is a slick phone. Sure the nokia 7610 may have better video features but it is an ergonomic beast, not to mention it's hideous when compared to the style and sophistication that is the S65. I've had the S65 for 4 mos. and I find the battery's performance standard really, not great not terrible. There are also many ways to tweak and modify firmware and menus with this phone. The outdoor camera is great really compared with VGA although it is not the quality of nokia. But this is a phone afterall and the "communication" functions work famously, if you want a huge PDA-like smartphone get something else.

although this phone has nearly everything (bluetooth, irda, video camera etc) it is not all that good. the video quality is terrible, jumps all the time, the screen is too dull, the menus are literally black and white and the camera is meant to be 1.3mp. my motorola v80 has a better camera than this! avoid - get a decent nokia or moto.

This is my current phone after my SX1. It takes good, not great pictures; some photos look washed out unless you take them in bright sunlight. Outdoor pictures look fantastic. I agree with the comment that the battery life leaves much to be desired. I charge everyday. My phone has begun to show problems with communicating with my Palm T5; When using the SMS check function, my phone worked well for the first 3 mos., but now shuts off when I try to check my sms. It works fine when sending sms though. Also, my phone dies unexpectedly during calls despite adequate battery life. A visit to the Siemens concept shop has the technician puzzled because my phone's software is version 25 - it is up to date.

haluk d500 owns a s65/s66. I have a s66, and I just had a d500 in class yesterday. Way better, thats why I sold it off. It has a very bad battery life. If you are getting it be ready to charge every day.

I am a SIEMENS Mobile fan, but frankly this thing "Sucks". I prefer siemens all the time, and this time I did so and bought this phone, instead of a 7610, with a big enthusiasm. It was 1.3 mp and it had 250 hours waiting time. Just great for me, but I realized my fault later on. This thing can't take photos in dark, no night shot. If you turn on the Bluetooth, in 10 min the charge runs out. To make a sum, do not buy this one, CX65's photos are better than this, I tested.

although it worked properly for about 3 weeks, the phone is in repair for three months now and Siemens doens't respond to any fax email or letter. The battery lasts for 2 days maximum. Freddy shut up, take it from me genuine readers. Its not that good of a phone. I now have the sony ericsson v800. Cracking phone. The battery life on the siemens s65 is awful. Really awful. The phone is stylish and has some good features but the firmware software and the operating base is too too slow. I dont care about the mp3 player as this is a business phone. So all those complaining about that go buy a mp3 player u miserable lot. Out of 10 i will rate this phone 7/10. It is a good phone but not as good as they say. PLenty more better options. Thank You. Hello ! I have recently bought a Siemens S65. It looks nice and does quite a good job. Still I have some problems with it: 1. The standby time is at most 72 hours (compared to the promised 250). 2. Photo images are not so good, as they tend to be blueish. 3. I have serious bugs in firmware (eg. when I try to acces the Browser->Setup->Security menu the phone freezes. 4. The browser is quite dumb compared with my old ME45's one. I can no longer acces Yahoo Messenger from it... The message displayed is 'Invalid content'. 5. hi everybody! i'm looking at this phone lately and i really like it though i'm hasitating between s65 and other phones! i read here that the camera quality is not so good. at the siemens site there is an update for the firmware of that phone. can anyone tell me what is the difference after updating the old firmware with the new 12th firmware. there is written that there are improvements in photos quality, sound and software. what are these improvemnts actually? and one more question: what is the maximum time for video recording and will it be increased after downloading the newest firmware. thank you guys and i'm expecting some info from you. bye for now!!!

I had k700 and sold it before i bought Moto E398, and my friend had 6230 he sold it, too so, if you are looking for a phone for music and mp3 player with stereo speakers and expandable memory(which k700 doesnt have) and with better screen resolution 176X220( which 6230 has only 128X128) than go for Motorola E398. I guarantee you won't regret.

Sir, I had purchased Siemens C25 mobile in the yr 1998 which gave me a satisfactory service for 6-yrs. Impressed by its performance I again preferred the siemens mobile and i purchased its A-52 model in February,2004. To my utter surprise this model started giving problems after 2-3 months from its puchase. The set was shown to your service center in Lucknow who could hardly do anything to satisfy me and since then I have been facing perpetual problems with this set which is beyond the competence of the man at the service center,who terms them as manufacturing defects. The problems are listed as under- 1.The dialling of numbers go inoperational quite frequently. 2.At times the dialled numbers disappear. 3.While talking on the phone the incoming voice gets cut at short intervals. As the above problems are not getting rectified and refers to some mfg defects,it shall be in the fitness of the things that the set is replaced immdtly as the set is very much in the warranty period. Hope you will act fast to restore my confidence in your products and exhibition of loyalty towards you.

One more thing the key pad design layout is the worst ever. The design is shoddy. Everytime i switch the phone it says memorycard not accesible. I have had mine in for repair 3 times. It continues to crash even with the software update. Crash and Burn Siemens you COWBOYS.

one more thing dont believe the claimed battery life. I was on it straight to test the phone life and it lasted 2.30mins. Its even worse when using the functions. I spent the whole battery texting, the battery lasted half a day. You can actually see the battery life drain. I left it without use and it lasted 2 days (2 DAYS!!!!!!), embarassing. Im ashamed to show this phone to anyone.

Unimpressed, disappointed. I live in the US and ordered this phone from singapore. My main gripe is the battery life is just BAD. There is no way it lasts 5-6 hours as claimed. It is more like 2 hours talk time. The battery cover and compartment is very cheap. I had to put folded paper in behind the battery to make it not rattle. The camera takes high resolution photos but is worthless without ideal lighting. Unless I am missing something, the video can only write to the built-in memory, not the rs-mmc card. You can copy to it afterwards but it wont let you save directly to it. This limits you to 30sec. I like that you can browse the file-system from the phone, but I dont think you can just copy an application onto the phone and have it reconize it. Unless you download it through the browser I see no way to put apps on the phone. The latter issues might be partially my own ignorance, but the battery life and poor camera quality are enough to make me wish I had just replaced my broken t610 with a t630....

i bought the s65 and i am completely pleased with the whole design. The fact is that i am more confused because i dont have time to organise all the things that i can do with it. the bluetooth is a little strange when using it with the motorola handset bluetooth. you have to sent the first time a call to the handset manually, then it works just fine! If somebody needs an MP3 player in the phone then they should look for an exclusive machine! It's phone with smart capabilities not a palm pc! Be Smart! if you play the mp3's from your mobile you should better have a nuclear supply with you! They need power you know! byeeeee!

Since you have already come across some faults (or errors if you will) I suppose it would be best to tell you some more. - Due to a practical joke in the early development of the S65 phonebook, if you call the Support line supplied in there it will take you to a gay phone sex hotline. If they say "Would you like to be hooked up?" It doesn't mean what you think it will mean. - During calls to anyone on you SIM you will hear a small whispering voice of a rastafarian saying "Hang up the phone mon." The story behind this was that when the parts of our S65's were sent to us from Jamica small eggs had layed in there which we thought were part of the battery as they seemed to not come off when we tried everything. - If you take these phones near small turtles they will evolve into huge karate style turtle that love to eat lots of pizza. Also if you put it any where near a rodent they will run around insanely and there brains will explode. - If you put it near a television it will go fuzzy and notice a woman with dark saying you will die in seven days. I have just got the firmware 25 version software. I do reconnmend it but its onlt a slight difference. The video recorder still jumps and skips. However the small difference is worth getting. what do the codes do that everyone are asking for. I have sent my s65 to siemens themselves to update the software. When i get it back will lwt you know the difference if any. The battery life is still crap. I tested it and after 1h 30mins on the phone the battery was down to half. So how can u possibly get 6six hours talk time that siemens claim. The battery cannot fully support the applications of the phone as it dies too quickly. It would have been the perfect phone if it had the symbian os software. The recipe for the perfect phone but shame the chef was a novice.

I have S65 with SW Version 12. Is that already the latest firmware version ? And, when I tried to read my phone with the supplied Mobile Phone Manager (came from it's small CD), it can't. Serial Cable : NIL. MA-620 IrDA : NIL. Although the IrDA itself can recognize my phone fast (more fast than N600) :-). But, why the "MPM" can't recognize it ? Anyhelp will do. Thx bro.

Good day, since i started using gsm i have being using a siemens phone but when i came across the "S65" i was like this is the phone i have being looking for and the best thing about it is the mega-pixel because through the advert the pictures looks real and it is a business phone my dream now is to have one.my opinion about SIEMENS S65 is that if u continue to make phones like this within the next 9-10 months siemens will be a world class phone.

I'll buy a S65. Great functions. For all that say: "poor camera..." or "no mp3??", why dont read first the specifications on site? Compare the images (1.3mbpx) of the S65 with the mustek gsmart mini 3 (3mbpx)... Siemens (www.siemens.com) said for really good pictures buy the extra flash....So dont sell the really good S65 for buy the "everyhaveanokiabecausethefriendhave". If you want to update the software go to the siemens website, which is where i got it from. If this doesnt work you can send it to Siemens who will do it for you but you have to send it off to them in a pre-paid envelope which they send. i have the usb cable and it works wonders. the images look really good when blown up on the pc. With the cable you can convert mp3 files to amr or wav files to put on your phone and listen. Although the quality isnt as good as mp3 music is music. It will sound better with the handsfree plugged in.

NO mp3 files can be played on the siemens s65. None!!! wav and amr files can be sent to your phone or recorded onto the via the voice recorder. other than that i dont know. the video software does improve greatly. the games are good. the menus and applications need more colour and animation, for example the k700i or the nokia 6260. the menu is so depressing with just one shade of colour. i contacted siemens and they assured me software is due out to increase the length of video recording but dont know when. overall its a good phone but a bit depressing. had high hopes for this phone. im getting the nokia 6260 next. hope this review has helped.

i just bought this phone. amazing connectivity and applicatiosns, however....the camera is pretty poor but the update fixes that. no mp3 can be played. NO MP3!!!!!you have voice recorder and dictator machine. it plays amr and wav files. the video recorder is good compared to others but does skip at times. it only records 13sec's but update lengthens the time. kep board design is a bit poor. this is my first siemens phone and the menu is too confusing. one suggestion to siemens...KEEP IT SIMPLE yet effective. The bluetooth is really good. games are good. need a bigger viewfinder for the camera. this phone does no justice to the potential of a 1.3 mega pixel camera. out of ten......7. its a bit of a let down but im happy.

I have the S65 for a month. Hans free speaker is very bad. Software full of bugs. Looses memory settings contineously. (Uptaed to VER 12). It have less crashes, but still the sound is lousy and various settings are being lost regularly.

A very good phone overall with excellent design. Features such as FM radio or Mp3 player suit better in fashion/imaging phones IMO. That's a bussiness phone, so if u r not gonna use it as that then don't buy it at all. I have it for one month now and I'm very satisfied with it. The only problem I have is that it doesn't work with the 2 BT handsfrees I've already got so I need to buy a 3rd one.

S65 don't play mp3 files like 7610 but also if you like to hear to good mp3 buy sx 1 because 7610 don't have headset it is jy=ust on the loud speaker and believe me quality is forgotton on 7610 for mp3 but s 65 is cute and had a good display and great camera on ver.12 check the new review on this site and the review of club-siemens.com

In my sx1 same problem ringtones, but just with nero i got 10 seconds of ferrari V12 2002, just 308kb!! This is why memory card, also for videos and pictures. That's a clever phone. You miss symbian programs, but you have one smaller than my sx1, lighter, and you have a greate menu. Great camara, finally decent pictures. I just miss radio, really, almost perfect phone.

I just switched to S65 from a Nokia 6600. No regrets ! It has almost the same features as a Symbian phone with none of the lag. It has features like the ability to define shortcuts on any keys and the speaker is really loud and clear. Only downside is that the battery life is not as good as the Nokia 6600.

I`ve had this phone for about two weeks now, and I couldn`t be more satisfied. The speakers are the best I`ve heard so far. U will be surprised how clear the sound is, and so what if it doesn`t support mp3, it supports wav, and if u shitheads doesn`t know what that is, then ur stupid. Wav is mp3 with better quality, and u can easily convert a mp3 song to wav. And for voice dialing, trust me, u wil never use it anyway!!! Voice dialing sux, it never works!!! This is a professional business phone, not some stupid nokia crap! And my brother has the se k700i, and he admits that it`s not as good as s65. Now u know the truth!!!

Not Better :-( Go figger Nokia 7610 has 250 kB pics, S65 has 140 kB pics, same as SX1 pictures interpolated. Can't find MPG4 options for movies, still 3GP, GSM Arena get your **** together. No MP3 or Radio. If you can get the S65 for cheap, do it. Else buy a 7610........ Klaas.IsVaag.NL

I'm using S65 for 2 weeks now. The phone is very good with 1.3 megapixel camera. I have uploaded the pictures to my computer and it prints out fine. For the phone screen, 65K is pretty much enough for a mobile phone.

to unknown: this site seems to be the only one who has snapshots taken with the S65. The 7610 has been reviewed everywhere, and here are links to the sites I like the most: Both the S65 and the 7610 fail when the pictures include lots of fine details, but IMO the 7610 has better exposure and white balance. Like I said I really want to buy the S65 because of the price, but if the quality of the camera is like what they published here, then I'd just probably buy a Samsung X600 (which takes excellent VGA-sized pictures) and a separate Sony DSC-U50 (a very small but very capable 2MP camera). I'm making a photo diary and a weblog that's why I'm so keen on picture qualtity.

The length of the phone is too damn short! It should have been lengthened to 115mm to allow for better keypad spacing. Only an idiot would think otherwise.

This phone is allready been sold in Germany for about 450 euro (ebay.de). In the rest of the world midle August. It has 40 poly sounds and no mp3. Great 1,3 mgpx camera on board, but it's a shame that it has a 65K screen. The s700 seems much better, so waithing till september is a must.

It has a camera, video camera, 65k display, up to 128k memory and just about every other feature you could handle and you yuppies are complaining about the absence of a Radio!!! Even if it did have a radio with all the other features the battery life would drop dramatically and the sound quality would be shit. Wait a few years when we start to see bio-technology appear then ask for a radio.

No!!! This phone doesn`t have mp3 and radio, check out yourselves: It`s a shame but still the phone is very good, like among its featers is voice recorder and loud handsfree speaker. Along with the best phone camera and video recorder-player it`s a powerful package!!! But with no mp3 and radio the price matters now...A great piece of equipment...but it`s a shame it doesn`t have mp3 and radio or at least one of those...

In term of design this phone is probably the best, but not much better then another hit of Siemens` in the past SL45, that has mp3, voice recorder and memory space of up to 128 MB, depending on amount of money you are ready to spend on the MMC ( multi-media card ). And so far it`s not very clear whether this one has same featers, but if it does, then this phone will be the best in the market, winning by several parameters, like design, featers and last but not least-dimensions and weght...the latter both are very important, `cause there are a few phones out there that are great in featers but either too big, or too heavy, or as the worst both big and heavy. And also I think that the price is no big deak in this case, `cause whatever you pay for this phone, you`re not gonna change soon, not even in a year, but you`re gonna enjoy-enjoy, and let others die with envy...I hope to get it in the summer, and so far I can live with my NOKIA 8290. Good luck to everybody.

Available from July for most of the european countries. Price tag close to SX1's (I hope lower). Supports at least 3D API java apps of 128KB - each (or more?). If the engine is same fast as the menus, could be a nice gaming platform also. Let's wait to see... :-)

This is THE phone. AND YES - IT HAS RADIO & MP3! The only disadvantage is the keyboard, having the "handset" buttons unseparated with the rest of the buttons.

I see this one on the Cebit. The best Handy, super Organizer, best pictures and very good telephonebook. A very good Siemens Engeneer, says that Symbian makes Problems, because you have 2 Processors and can`t find a mistake quick (I say:It comes from Nokia ;)...that say all) This one have an own Siemens Software...it comes in summer 2004. The first Megapixel Camera!!!
