BLU Vivo XL - User Reviews

  • I have aa parchase blu bold vivo xl lcd penal

  • I've had this phone for a few years now. First recommendation is to put a tempered glass screen protector on it. I used both of the plastic ones that came with the phone and they served their purpose but the tempered glass screen protector reminds me of when the phone was new. Secondly, after enough wear and tear the charging port will seem loose and when you plug in the USB C cable it won't charge. Best bet is to shop around for a quality cable. You will know you have the right one when you connect and the charging indicator doesn't flicker. Overall this is a good phone for the money. Compared to some of the budget phones coming out now it has retained it's value. The 2nd sim card slot doesn't work anymore. My only wish is that I could install the new Android Go on my Vivo XL

  • I've had two of this cellphones and I have experienced some problems with charging. What I discovered is: the USB cable that comes with the cellphone is a pice of trash, after 2 weeks of using it, charging rate drops from 720 mah to 120 mah or less. So, buy a good a good USB-C 3.1 certified cable. I'm very happy with my phone, still today after 3 years, people ask me about it and I recommend them to buy it.

  • Take out the battery. Fold a small slip of paper over a few times. Reinstall the battery with the paper wedged between the battery and the edge of the compartment opposite the contacts. The paper will force the battery against the contacts to eliminate the flaky connection that is making the phone turn itself off. Worked for me.

  • I would not recommend this phone. . Always is giving some problems. It is my second phone and both have charging problemes .

  • Good cam, dependable, use with firm case, good screen.

  • I have being using Blu XL for about 18 months now and i have started having problem with my phone the phone can switch off and comes on at any time which is disturbing me . what should i do for this issue to be solve?

  • Very good phone.Good battery, wonderful disppay, good cameras! Good price!

  • Greetings all, I'm using Blu Vivo XL & since two months now I've been unable to use the phone for calls and other mobile functionaries, I wiped the phone using hand hard reset method & I ended up having an invalid imei, please help me guys on how to fix this phone, I really love the phone. I've tried flashing another stock ROM on it still its showing invalid imei, I even downloaded Gionee Elife s plus ROM & flashed it on the phone using SP flash tool but to none avail... pls guys I need your help its urgent

  • Hey I really hope this is the fix - I'm on my second Blu Vivo XL - first one lasted about a year, kept it going for 18 months even with the charging problem (loose connection, type C, phone with removable battery). New phone is exactly 2 weeks home and did not charge last night - plugged it in with about 40% juice, and it shut off over night and will not turn back on. I've had it plugged in at work for the last 5 hours - NOTHING is happening. This is the latest Blu ViVo XL with the micro usb and more solid shell. Debating sending it back to Amazon. I guess I will try the samsung cable you recommend first.

  • U r exactly right.... Same problem for me also.

  • The power button messes up sometimes and it won't turn on even went it is fully charged.

  • I have a Blu Vivo XL where lately most of my incoming calls go to voicemail, i have checked the call forwarding, voicemail , and airplane modes yhry are fine it only happens when certain people calls I am thinking about giving up and purchase a new phone what gives?

  • I have the charging issues...and have gone thru how many cables...what works with mine is jiggle with the socket when inserting the cable...doesn't always work though..if you have 5% remaining on battery..turn it off and charge...otherwise...it will take an hour for it to get to 1% charge...or you'll have to take it to tech to reset....hope this helps.

  • The charger is okay, the problem is with the cable. Just buy another cable and the problem is gone. I bought a tecno phantom 6 cable and the charging problem was fixed.

  • Sorry you're having a problem, my charger has always worked perfect 😊

  • What happens when my Ram is full on my BLU Vivo XL cell phone?

  • Like why thr hell would you guys make a phone with a charger that's not capable of charging it, I was thinking maybe I was bad lucky but then I saw the reviews of others.....like seriously.....why?????

  • try on line bluphoneparts.com

  • Some months later and had the same battery problem. Can't find replacements anywhere, I take back what I said and will never buy a Blu again. Dodge this bullet!

  • I bought a spare battery for my BLU Vivo XL from bluphoneparts.com

  • My phone takes forever to charge. Is the 5v2a charger a type c charger for the Blu vivo XL ? Cause I was on eBay and I wanted to buy one my phone takes forever the charge. Like over 16 hrs and it's still at 60 or 70% please email me [email protected]

  • Hi guys I have this unit for a past 4 months and i decided to install Mobile legend game but unfortunately it does't continue loading even though i have good ISP. " Network error, please restart the game!" Anyone please help me.

  • bluphoneparts.com

  • Where can I found that charger I mean I just bought it and is gonna be in the mail March 23rd should I buy a new charger right now

  • The battery charge problem is due to the cable. Buy a new USB-C cable of samsung quality, and it works again the fast load. That's the whole problem.

  • I enjoyed the first 2 months of this phone while it was operational but then the battery issues kicked in. There are no spare batteries on the market and i managed to get a similar battery but the phone drains the batteries so fast. You have to charge for 3 days to get a reasonable charge which is also drained in about 2 hours of active use. Verdict: I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone. Money wasted

  • its a great phone but cant get it accessories -

  • I've had nothing but problems with this phone and the company something needs to be done

  • Bought this phone and loved it. But like others after 4 months battery was taking over 24 hrs to charge. I bought a new charger, same thing. I finally contacted BLU and they had me hard reset the phone. From there it went down hill. I contacted them again and they sent me an RMA. After 2 weeks they contacted me and said it would be quite sometime before my phone would be fixed and offered me the Studio Max, I was kinda skeptical but checked it out, only thing I did not like about it was the battery is built-in. But I am glad I did accept it, really like the Studio Max, pretty much same specs, and it has a finger print sensor.

  • I had similiar issues. I was ready to give up on my BLU Vivo XL until I figured out its charging issue. The charger that comes with the the phone is not fully compatible with the device. Please purchase a different USB cable and 5v 2a charger head, preferable a Samsung head that can give up to a 9v output. That's what I did and now my phone charges from 0-100% in just over an hour. It's amazing!!!!

  • i had this phone two months now ever since i got it i have been having a charging issue .it takes for ever to charge until it just shut down .now im without a phone this is so unfair

  • My own stop charge circuit or motherboard problem ?

  • can you use face unlock with the 6.0 because i cant find the face unlock since i upgraded mime

  • my phone wont even charge, it started taking forever to charge then just stopped. Anyone else looking for a new phone due to this problem?

  • I have battery issues just the same and I had a tech open phone and found port had disconnect from board. It was soldered back on and it is charging now. I hope it will keep charging now. Tech said port is really short so it only sit on small part of the board.

  • I am having the same problem. Phone is now connected to power supply for 24X7. Really painful.

  • Bout my phone two months ago and it has been having charging problems about three weeks now takes forever to charge and can't seem to get a battery anywhere. Total rip off

  • I had the smell problem. My battery was taking nearly 1 day to charge n now it doesn't charge... I have the phone for 3 month's...

  • Bought mine about two months ago and now the battery takes forever to charge even a whole dam day why is that so injustice has been done to us for sure

  • My phone updated to Marshmallow and ever since the upgrade, Carefree Launcher hasn't been responding, despite installing other launchers the problem still persist.

  • So I bought the blu vivo xl two months now....The battery went on 1% and it never powered back on .I'm sure it's the battery because someone placed their battery in my phone and it came on beautifully....but when my battery went in theirs it displayed that stupid dead battery sign, Now I'm desperate to find a battery which I can't seem to find anywhere.

  • you need to remove your micro sd card and clear a bunch of cache to make space for the update

  • mine keeps failing on the update

  • did it work?

  • mine was upgraded to 6.0 yesterday tho

  • I bought a new charger and it did come back on initially however it did the same thing less than a month. I purchased another charger however this time it didn't work. 4 months and a total waste of money

  • Its a lie it will not be upgraded to 6.0.1

  • Bought this phone 2 weeks ago, the phone battery run out because I was travelling. Am trying to charge it after getting home but it's not charging. Any help

  • Does this phone has cast cream/ cream shair?

  • good phone and any specification the only issue is when a I charger the phone because takes a lot time, like 4 hour starting in 20%

  • Beatiful design, good batery time, good performance.

  • here it is

  • I started using it yesterday....upgrading from Lenovo S898t Golden Warrior , which I loved just could'nt get an upgrade to Android 5.0 or 5.1. The XL is great so far but......I like to be able to find repair parts just in case, and I cant find the digitizer/LCD for it. Checked Bluphoneparts.com , Ebay and Amazon and NO DEAL. I know you get what you pay for and its a 2016 phone but for $150U$ , they need to make parts available. If they make the LCD available for purchase,I would rate this phone a 9/10 for its value for dollar aspect performance, graphics, and camera...

  • they have cases on amazon...

  • I want to buy this phone in my country. Is it available for Bangladesh???

  • There are slight differences.

  • Incredible phone! Great performance, good camera and AMAZING battery and screen. Really worths twice the price it is!

  • WTF are you TALKING about!?!?!?! I've had my BlueTooth headphones connected to my phone, which was in the Basement, and able to go to the first floor, do dishes, vacum, go out and get the mail, never have any problems with bluetooth like you speak of. I think you're either crazy or your headphones have been stepped on by your boyfriend.

  • Instead of investing in multiple usb-c cables, just buy adapters from amazon. They fit over mini-usb -- the standard android charging cables. Worth it.

  • It could be because of usb type c but this phone got crazy hot and now no longer charges. Sending it in to see if they'll replace it under warranty.

  • The bad list is pretty short considering the price, but... Bluetooth is totally worthless for audio streaming unless you lay your phone perfectly still next to whatever it is paired with, and don't even think of turning on a fan in the same room. The speaker is pretty bad, and the camera isn't nearly as good as it could be, but those are likely on par with other devices near this price. Otherwise, this is a fantastic looking phone with a surprisingly good looking screen and decently smooth operation. The quick settings menu on the bottom is a welcome change and All in all, I completely get the camera and the speaker, but I see no reason at all why the Bluetooth should be so horrible. If you're not a Bluetooth person, though, I'm not sure you'll find a better phone at this price.

  • EBay has cases. Cheap n good

  • Do BLU phones have colorful notification lights?

  • Yeah... the speaker is on the low side... But then again it's a budget phone. Can't really expect more...

  • I agree... BLU has relatively poor support for software updates. Then again they produce budget phones with not enough resources and manpower in their company for software development. They do not have a budget like the Apples and Samsungs.

  • Yes and only 2.4 GHz support. No support for 5 Ghz. It's a budget phone so no AC wifi...

  • This phone does NOT seem to a support T-Mobile nor AT&Ts VoLTE and WiFi Calling features even though it offers Band 12 and 17. Those features are seemed to be reserved for the big name smartphones such as the Apples, HTCs, Samsungs or LGs as they are likely to be "officially certified" by such mobile phone carriers. Then again what do you expect from a $149 USD budget smartphone. Since BLU phones are unlocked and most are Dual-SIM it is unlikely that GSM/LTE providers such as AT&T or T-Mobile would make a contract with them.

  • You have to charge the batery completa two or three times after the firts use

  • Will this phone work in the UK with phone services such as e.g. O2, Vodafone, EE?

  • I just got this phone yesterday. I absolutely love it. My only problem is that after charging it all night and closing all the apps after every use, the battery drained so quickly. Love the phone. Disappointed in battery power.

  • having Band 12 and 17 also have VoLTE which T Mobile requires to use band 12? And does it pick up Band 700A block of frequencies which share with Band 17?

  • I decided to buy this Phone because this page said it includes a gyroscope. Now that i have in my hands y realise it doesn't.... Not working with google cardboard

  • Update: So after fully charging battery overnight, i went through the day from 7 - 5 with moderate use(few phone calls, some texting, web brow0sing) and i came home with 75% remainging so the battery life is Definately a strong point. If you plan on getting this phone however, you should buy a backup usb-c cable because the one provider in the box is just a 3ft cable, but you get screen protector and clear case in the box too :)

  • Okay so far so good. Really nice handset. Still trying to get used to the modified android(switched from moto g). The camera is great, 4glte is good on art. No lag although you may notice a small delay when opening some apps particularly right after switching from another. Scrolling is fluid without chopping or stuttering. Battery life is ok( light app use should see you making it 24+ hrs, medium to heavy should last you a work day+). Display is pretty good. The only thing I'm not feeling is the speaker. It's not very loud and the sound quality is not the best(compared to the moto g's stereo speaker, it's a huge downgrade) but I mostly use headphones so not really much of a problem

  • i cant find a case

  • What more can you get with a $199 phone? Seriously....

  • How is a 5.5 inch screen more like a tablet? Makes no sense. Everything else you said are OK with me since I don't know anything about this product because I haven't used one

  • litle tablet, I mean Im selling a minivan from dodge, but Im not sure if selling to you, I may I will encounter the issue that you are going to return it to me saying that it is a microbus, dude you have to read the specs first 5.5 is not like the mini smartphones you may use to have!!! LoL

  • Hey Richard, I had a similar problem with my sd card. 1st time I put it in.. it showed the card as only 2gb. I ejected the sd card and rebooted the phone. Then I tried the sd card again. The 2nd try it read the sd card fine. Overall, I love this phone. It's a good balance of everything. I was about to get the zte zmax 2 for $80 at best buy, but decided on this because I liked the look and specs. Antutu benchmark 6.0.1 shows a score of about 35900. Not bad,.... better then a lg g2.

  • I bought one during the Best Buy $100 promotion. It has a beautiful display and it's very fast, but I returned it. It was faulty out of the box. It wouldn't recognise the sd card. The menu isn't close to stock Android and the buttons on the bottom of the screen are reversed. It's also large, more like a mini tablet than a phone. It's a steal at $100, but it's also got too many faults.

  • I got mine for 99$ at Best Buy lol

  • anyone who thinks this isn't the best deal out there at 150 bucks is nuts!

  • Blu is behind the times. They mishmosh their phones so much. They have poor support and their updates are extremely slow to come out. Its 2016 their current phones should be on marshmallow....

  • what's the WIFI connectivity? Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n ?

  • Its no surprise. A lot of BLU models are rebadged Gionee.

  • Wow!! This phone is awesome, I just buy this phone. For my information this phone 1-10 is 9.

  • What's going on here? This phone has the same exact specifications and colors as the Gionee Splus.....

  • THE BLU LIFE ONE has band 12 but wont work dose not have volte

  • Compare with Blu Life One X (2016) Cons: No HD Screen Pros: Little bigger battery Screen size little bigger For me, Life One X 2016 is worth for $99 initial sale price on Amazon.
