Cat S50 - User Reviews

  • Yes it is sluggesh. Restarts on own all the tim and will repeatedly send the same text to someone over and over...what's up with that?

  • Very poorly designed. They designed it to be waterproof, and shockproof, but neglected things like functionality, memory, processing speed, etc. And then completely forgot to put any protection on the screen, a slightly raised rubber lip around it would have been all it took. I had it freeze up on me a few months ago and the only way to reset it was to completely tear the phone apart and pull the battery wire off the main board. It just needed a hard reset, but this was the only way to do it. Then today, the phone got knocked out of my hand, cracked the digitizer and screen. The parts cost more than half as much as the phone cost me new. I've only had it a few months, but it is going in the trash. I've honestly gotten better results with the free phones from straight talk. Absolute junk.

  • Worst phone. Camera not clear and can't update system.

  • Got cat s50 .few years ago very slow and hangs bad not a smooth running device..now got iPhone it runs smooth and fast.

  • I had it on dtc wireless and their saying it cannot be connected to any other server.and dtc went out of business.now phone worthless.

  • crash screen and cant replace it, making phone useless

  • Broke the screen after a year, battery stopped working after about 2. Extremely slow and very little space with all their filler applications preinstalled.

  • OK, finally broke the screen after 2 years, sitting on it with a scrawdriver in the rearpocket... Fell hundreds of times before, without a crack, including in water. But yes, its was slow (even for basic application like pdf editing) and add difficulties to connect to network (but no problem with Bluetooth or GPS, all over the world). The worse desagreement was (is?) that the phone was heating so much as the SD cards became inoperative (too bad when you put your maps in the card and try to use navigation apps, and when you realize that you have to choose between music OR internet during travel). And yes, CAT support is worst than one can imagine, so now, I going to look for another brand if I can't repair my CAT...

  • its the best phone ever!! never broke!

  • slow whilst doing?

  • Worst phone ever, screen cracked sent out to get fixed and second time around it cracked again....shitty phone

  • expensive trash, doesn't connect to bluetooth, as durable as tissue paper, glass breaks constantly, way too slow, camera is terrible. complete miss. ill never buy a cat product again. please dont buy this worthless phone. oh and there warranty is in German or Swedish so they dont have to live up to it, i HATE this phone.

  • the worst phone i have ever bought or used slow would not buy again

  • The phone can be quiet slow at times , should not be considered as a smart phone at all its engine needs serious work .. interms of durability its one of the best of its kind , it can take a serious beating

  • Cat S50 recovary mode not comeing please help me

  • These phones are very rugged and can definitely take a beating. The one thing I do not like is mine can be slow and laggy many many times a day. Other than that, I am very impressed with this phone and the durability of it.

  • I wouldn't recommend the cat s50 at all. I have owned it for a year now and the screen has cracked twice with being occasionally dropped in everyday use - no harsh treatment at all. The first repair took so long I won't bother fixing it now. Also the side cover is peeling off near the charger port and the SD card port is acting up and losing contact with the card. The software is very glitchy and the GPS is poor in rural areas. I can't see how this is considered a rugged military spec phone as it can't compare to any other rugged phone I have owned. Perhaps it should be given to the enemy forces.

  • my s 50 wont start up n i have been charging it for so long n stil not wanted to start up,what can the problem be

  • Bought this phone when it first come out in November 2014. It's been a excellent phone and taken a lot of drops and bangs. I have broken one screen but to be fair I left the phone on the bumper of my truck. Where I found the phone in a ditch it would have come of the bumper at approximately 35-40mph and it only cracked the screen and was still working. I have no issues with this phone would recommend to anyone but the only problem I have is I have just broken the screen again plus the lcd behind as well. I can buy replacement glass screen anywhere but the lcd is hard to get hold of and still currently looking for one. So phone is excellent but replacement parts are hard to come by for this model and cat don't answer my emails

  • So many negative comments about this phone... are you sure you guys bought the original thing? I mean, i have mine now for almost 2 years and no complaints. I work in the construction and we build oil and gas refineries. I've been in the deserts of Saudi and Algeria with this phone. This phone in my opinion is a survivor!!! Just imagine my daily work in the harshest climate: Extreme temperatures, sand storm, dirt, sweat and i had this phone all along... not to mention 1 time when i was climbing the safety ladder and it slipped out my pocket, accidentally dropped on the pipes below and then to the concrete pavement (about 8 feet in height) and it works fine, just minor scratches on the corner. So yeah, no BS, this thing leaves up to its name. CATERPILLAR.. tough equipment, tough shoes, and yes tough phones. Now they have released the new CAT S60 and i can't wait to get my hands on that badboy.

  • I really love this phone for its toughness, especially cause I keep dropping my phones on the floor and this one works still even after countless drops :) Although there is one thing that really gets on my nerves. If the phone drops on the screen hard enough the microphone will get disconnected. And it really is a bother cause since it happend for the first time, about 9 month ago, I have to take to repair shop about every 3 month. And there is no display warning it happend, I just make a call, or recieve one, and the person on the other side can´t hear me. Wish it could be permanently fixed somehow :/

  • Look, why are you all telling shit about this phone, that i know it is not true. I know this because i am using this phone for about a year and a half now. Yes its true that i had my lcd and mobo changed, but it was for free and now its all good. Its not laggy, i can play high end games like asphalt 8 on high settings with no problem... and the lcd quality isnt realy that bad, its decent I bet that you had ever neither that seen this phone. The same thing was for lenovo k5 note, it was the worst phone for users on gsm arena and it turned out to be great phone with no problems at all. It realy bothers me that you post comments like this, so when you are buying the phone and you see that comments it turns you away. Your are just jelaous.

  • Real dope fone, use 4 everything. Dropped in toilet still works like new yo!!11!

  • Im using it for a while with no problems, I guess you shouldn't let the battery drop below 10% or if it turns off by loss of power it may have some problems turning on. Any way put it on a charger,a after 5mins press power key and + and - button on the opposite side, it should turn on. Try some updates etc. That's about it...

  • I cant seem to get my maps to work i tried everything Can someone please help? I reinstalled the app and gps apps but still not working

  • Its a horrible phone, I purchased in the USA and got it home in India.. the phone..gets off all of a sudden and when i try swithing it on..it does not respond.. again after a few days..when i try it gets on..the model S50 is a pain ...

  • Hell no ! Its extremely bad and very expwnsive that doesnt live to its standards and expertise. Its bulky yet weak and has a very bad display it will embarras you if you pull it out in public

  • Worst phone I've ever owned, it started falling apart after a week, and I cracked the screen in a month just by keeping it in my pocket at work with the screen facing in. When I tried to get the phone fix the customer service was horrible, and I eventually just gave up and bought another phone.

  • My husband purchased this phone in January 2016 and it has never worked. First he couldn't answer any calls coming in. Took it into the store where we purchased it and they were puzzled too but eventually got it working. Then he couldn't make any calls so again took it to the store and again they got it working after an hour of trying and leaving it with them. One day it got wet and so we took it back into the store and they sent it for repairs. They repair center would not repair it even though it was still under warranty. We were told to ensure the clip on the side is always closed which is always has been or it wouldn't be covered. The CAT site says it is "waterproof for up to 60 seconds (1 min) at a depth of 3.5ft" Well it isn't. It was not in 3.5ft of water and not for 1 min. When it got wet, it was picked up within 2 seconds. This is a very expensive phone that doesn't live up to what it is marketed as. The site also says it is military standard. If the military is using a similar phone, they better get another. The CAT phone sucks. I contacted CAT and told them of the situation but have not heard back yet. Don't buy this phone.

  • Might be rugged but don't get it wet. I'm a bartender and dropped my Cat s50c into a tub of iced bottled beers. Phone wasn't in there more than 10 seconds and the screen went black. Back of the phone was hot and a short while later could see condensation in the back camera lens. Mil Spec? Not. Going back to a Kyocera Brigadier,

  • The most expensive phone I ever bought costing $4300tt phone blank out exactly three months from the day I received it and never comes back on before the phone was getting very very not when making a call cat s50 it not a good phone to buy the worst phone I ever buy mike

  • Hi Guys, I need help. Phone CATS50. I turned on TALKBACK option. I can't find option Turn OFF. In settings menu I don't have option Accessibility. Who knows where I can find it. It's killing me. Thanks in advance

  • First the good: this phone has a decent screen and is reasonably rugged. Now the bad: the phone freezes up all the time with a dark screen sometimes in the middle of a call, it is very glitchy and loses GPS signal in the middle of town, won't connect to cell towers unless I turn it on and of repeatedly. Also the camera is just really poor quality, too. Because it is running on an older OS, many apps do not work properly. At any given point, my kids' i phones pull up data much quicker, and we're all on the same plan. Finally because I wasn't able to buy this phone through T Mobile, I have virtually no support. The CAT support is truly useless. They have no idea how the phone works. I can't wait to get a different phone, this POS just stresses my day out to no end. Smart phones are supposed to help us not hurt us.

  • This is the worst phone I have ever owned. The phone won't hold a charge, it not as rugged as they say. The support is useless they gave me a bogus number. They don't sell but one charger for the phone.u give them your number and they are supposed to call u back and they don't.this phone is a joke. My 4s battery last longer than this phone. Do it homework I don't advise getting this phone.if they helped me out I might think differently.but their attitude is once they sell the phone it your problem. I would get a cheap phone from Walmart before I would get this phone. I am not even going to give it the lowest rating. good luck....

  • Has anyone had trouble with the touch screen..? Mine was perfectly fine till one day reset by his own then start restarting over and over again the touch screen stop responding and battery went out in a couple of hours with the phone really hot. It has been 5 months since I bought it and havent heard from CAT either becouse they coudent get the parts here...

  • THE WORST cell phone I have ever bought. I took it 5 times in almost a year that i own it to the shop where bought it in Cyprus. Two times went off by itself one time battery life 10 hours(before it goes almost a week) and two times microphone failure. Finally I bought the Samsung xcover3 and am gonna sent them reference letter with my lawyer.

  • Hi martin, i'm javier from rosario- santa fe. Do you have a cat s50 ? Where did you buy it? Is it as good and tough as they say ? Best regards

  • Yes, press down volume with power button simultaneously.

  • Hi. my phone fell down from 1.2 mt and the mainboard broke. somebody could tell me where to buy it for replacement? i'm from Argentina.

  • please add a bottle opener to the case !!!!

  • Is there any way for hard reset the cat s50?

  • You don't like listening to music, or taking on the phone, because you simply cannot hear it, regardless of the "Waves audio system." They advertise "wet finger tracking" but I feel a better name would be "Damp finger tracking." I have experienced these problems with 3 separate phones, so I doubt I've just had a faulty phone.

  • My S50 worked great. For a little while. The waterproofing seems good, and dropping it normally doesn't break it, however I did have it fall about 2 feet and shatter once. I'm actually on my third S50, still under the original warranty. Twice it has been frozen with a blank screen (possibly off?) and had to be shipped back to Cat. Best part is, 4 or 5 months will go by, and neither me nor my carrier hear back from Cat. My carrier has given me a free phone twice because of this. As far as general day to day usage, I hope y

  • Same problem no sim card response

  • Hi. I'm wanting to buy the cat S50 phone. Is your phone still having the same problem?

  • my cats50 is having a problem of going off and its fully charge, this the second time behaving like this.

  • good day! where can i buy a screen replacement for cats50 here in the philippines? or how can i order for it,,, pls help me coz i drop my phone and it is broken. ty

  • very good on site construction

  • Is there any way for hard reset the cat s50?

  • Dropped it . broken screen.shop that sold it to me says can't get new parts off cat . Cat says must go back to shop where I bought it . Very disappointed . Should have bought a job .

  • Which phone company service are you using for the CAT S50

  • Well Desert yes, sea no.., the lid that should close sd-card & sim from the elements falls out regularly. No software updates

  • hello guys im thinking to buy a cat s 50 phone for the desert and the sea is it any good

  • Love it!! Bought mine 2 months ago.. It's survived 2 fishing trips on the Bering Sea.. Dropped it many times. It's been dropped in water.. Everything works just fine on mine :) only reason I plan on retiring this one is for the S60

  • Have had many of the troubles listed: Won't turn on, Screen frozen off, Hard reboot fixed that, but still happens. Won't write to the SD card, and now the OS is 4.4.2 with no updates available. Several apps won't work right because the OS is so old, and I paid over $400 for this only 6 weeks ago. CAT Phone S__KS.

  • got my new phone on thursday 4 feb, on saturday morning 5 feb went of, and does not want to switch on again (the battery was fully charged).... very disappointing!!!! wtf

  • you can use SIM adapter. Sold every where they cell phones have.

  • why i drop the phone within 1m the glass broken?

  • What size SIM card fits into this? I want to use it as a backup phone but need a rugged smartphone that uses a full size SIM. TIA

  • just click "expand" on the right side of the Network section..

  • I wanna know the band available for this pone, I got problems with some chip o sim card, I´m living in argentina it is working only with one of the celular companys only CLARO but the PERSONAL o MOVISTAR the 3G is not available. there is some setting to do?? I appreciate in advance any help

  • Best phone I've owned. Responsive and durable. Only problem is I fiddled with the usb covers too much and they fell off - just don't do that :). Yes SD card writing seems a problem, but can read from it, so if you can put videos on it and play them back.

  • Oh gee, aside from being unable to download apps onto my SD card I love this durable phone. There is no other phone I know that has a touchscreen feature while simultaneously acting as an indestructible smart phone AND the screen was made tough against abrasions.

  • Total injustice. After using this phone for a few days it powered off an never came back on. Worst product ever made.

  • It it has been a great phone only issue is I can't save to my sd card

  • in this day n age this phone has no callwaiting . no screen lock , itk keeps dialing while u on a call

  • JUNK!!!!!! had the phone 3 months droped it once on the dirt ground it powered down does not take charge will not turn on.no help what so ever from cat they just have a trade mark on the phone stay away from it after insurance and 2 months it costed me $225 for 3 months for the phone. went with galexy 6s and a otter case.

  • do not read Sim card, and many other problems, actualy shit! In 9 months was 3 times by 3 weaks in repairing store.

  • You can't break it? I threw it once drunk at the ground and now microphone, GSM network and loudspeaker aren't working.

  • Phone Shut down by his own. I can't turn it on anymore. I own this phone since the start of March 2015...

  • My phone is 6 day old and since I have it isn't reading the sim

  • Useless in every way except you cant deliberately break it Maybe if I can get CAT D10R Dozer to ride over it then it will get a scratch or something Camera - pointless Memory & Storage - why bother Twin Sim(as per the box) - Where? Shuts down voluntarily - has a setting to prevent this which doesnt work, why was it there in the first place? Dust Resistant - what is that? Had it for a year now and its sittng in the cupboard as a spare phone Will maybe to use it on site to tear down walls and vibrate concrete

  • is it gps or navigation i this model??

  • Had it for a few months now. Even when I first got it, it's kinda slow and laggy. Camera is basically pointless. Shuts down on its own. Not reliable at all.

  • Worse phone I ever owned. Camera sucks. Buttons in the wrong place. Have to shut off data and restart it almost every time I want to do wireless. Touchscreen is either too responsive or not responsive enough. I also had to shutdown problem but it got over that. Spell check crappy. No good user info. Only thing good about this phone is that it is pretty rugged. Unfortunately I can't break it to get a different phone.

  • I plan to buy this phone S50 but not complete front camera.also expensive than to other phone.more than 50% compare lenovo phone.

  • CAT S50 BAD phone. I disappointing :( after 2 month phone self switch off... and dead. i returned him to seller. Seller give me new one CAT S50.. after 4 days same happens with that phone - DEAD.

  • Above 200 and down 250.

  • 219 omani rial??? It's too much money for me. Anyway please how does it works I've to know. Can you help me??? I'm from Ibri Oman.

  • please what should i do when the phone starts showing no service

  • Thanks for idea, i was wery disapointed, until catched your simply idea...will try

  • I have had no problems saving to the SD, just downloaded the update first day I bought it and it's running great. I will say I'm only picking up e signal strength, and in my galaxy I get lte

  • Please don't waste your time or money on this phone. I had mine of 8 days now and its the biggest mistake that I made and will have to live with for two years. The signal quality is not great at all. Tonight my phone had 80% power and while I was on the phone it died. There is no way to get it on again. Now I will have to see how the aftersale service is.

  • how much slots for sim card is there. one or two. please. hurry up

  • this is a very ugly phone

  • Camera or camera soft is not ok, pictures are foggy, colors inaccurate. Focusing is slow and not accurate. It takes very clear pictures from small distance when light is bright but any other circumstance the result is not sufficient.

  • My phone fell out of my pocket and shattered completely. I researched this phone and sacrificed on options for the durability. I wish I could post a picture. Have yet to hear back from the manufacturer. Very angry and disappointed.

  • No. It sinks

  • I just bought the S50. The SIM card will not lock into the slot. Any suggestions?

  • Does it float on water?

  • Hey dude its in emax city center al seeb it costs 219 omr

  • Yes it does.

  • Doesd it have a front camera???

  • is this product on sale in east Africa?specifically uganda

  • You need to format the card using one of those free fat32 formating tools on a pc (windows refuses to format memory cards or flashdrives larger than 32GB to fat32, only ntfs and exfat are available). Android doesn't support ntfs or exfat by default, and all microsdxc cards are formatted to exfat by default. I'm using 64GB microsdxc formatted to fat32 on my old samsung galaxy s2.

  • Please any body tell me how can get Cat S50 Mobile i living Oman,Muscat

  • When will the Cat S50 be availible in South Africa?

  • Hi All, Can anyone let me know where I can buy these locally in Malaysia? Thanks. Regards, Ringo

  • I concur that it's not Cat's fault but it's a major inconvience that you don't get write access on the SD card

  • plug your S50 into your computer and manually move your pictures from your internal hard drive to your SD card. you can still view them/play them, you just cant move them with the phone alone. its not CAT's fault its the OS KIT KAT's security measure.

  • 4g

  • No, it's 4G.

  • Is this 3g ?

  • Do you have to enable Qi I have a Samsung wireless charger works fine with my note4 but not charging my cat

  • Qi works fine

  • I have had the same issues with mine. It had me butt dial 911 once when I was mowing the grass. Also, the screen won't come on from time to time causing me to have to restart the phone. Not sure if that is a phone issue or an OS issue, but it's annoying all the same. I am currently planning on going back to a rugged flip phone since I don't really use the smart phone features.

  • I have tot go through my laptop to replace my photos from internal memory tot SD card...in my eyes...disapointing.

  • well well well... great phone... the gorrilar screan

  • I have 32G SD card on my s50 phote but I cannot save anything on it and the internal memory of the phone is almost full now. What will I do

  • I have just bought Cat S50 and now I am finding out about SD problem. Should I return it or are there any answers to this issue?

  • I have the Cat B15 and I love this phone. I've put it in a drain pan full of oil, threw it across my shop, and dropped it from the top of a semi trailer. I'm looking to find a new phone to with stand the same torture, and want to know if the S50 is a good choice to go with?

  • As an Active Duty Military man, I'm not satisfied with this phone. It is water proof, but if dropped at all the covers that seal the USB port and SIM card comes out. Also, my 1 year old dropped the phone on concrete about 5 feet and the screen is now cracked. This phone has no external buttons on the front, it causes me to constantly but dial people all the time, its frustrating. The method of searching for contacts for call purposes vs text purposes is aggravating also. This phone was a waste of money compared to what is available these days.

  • Greetings! The Cat S50 is a reliable good android Phone. I only got one Question regarding the SD Card. Mine works fine with a micro sd 64 gb from samsung. THe only problem ist with the standard music app from android and vlc the music is starts for about a few seconds, than buffering for 10-15 sec. and returning. This happens every time. I earse the cache before, shutting down all aps. My thougth was, maybe there is a prolem with the cache, or a whole album is to big, but when seeing a video from the sd no lags or Problems appear. Does anyone know a Soulution? (btw when playing music from the phone memory it does not buffering)

  • My SD card 64GB works fine (recognised and acessed) but I cannot save any data onto it. Can you do this?

  • I tried to root on Root Genius, but once I connect my phone, I get a message from Root Genius that there are no drivers available. Would you please take us through the exact steps you did to root your CAT S50 phone? Thanks

  • mi cell is in spanish so i will try to help u... turn off the automatic date and hour turn off the automatic time zone set the date set the time i was having the same problem in the B15q, but seting that allos me to set the time and date and it never change ( in my fathers cell he has the same problem and i set it like mine and it never fail again)

  • i want CAT put front camera for this

  • The qi works great with the Samsung qi charger from bestbuy

  • Can anyone who owns this device confirm whether the message number notification appears on top of the messaging app when a text message is received?

  • SIM/sd card issue was solved by filing 1mm of sd card and sim card by a nail file. It seems that those cards prevent the hatch from closing tightly, after removing 1mm, the hatch closes perfectly. N-joy

  • root with RootGenius I succeeded with some difficulty but is done and download : kitkat externaL SD PATCH ENJOY !

  • I solved the sim/sd hatch issue with a small piece of isolation tape. That hatch is a joke! Also som bugs in settings when set to my native language, but I can live with that. The pre-installed google-camera APP is poor. Camera works better with other apps. Design is cool, operations are smooth, wifi is excellent, gsm connection is supreme. Love that Android OS is almost untouched! But Bullit Mobile (whoom actually made the phone) should feel pretty embarrassed by that sim/sd hatch!!

  • Worst phone I ever had! I like durable models (Sony Xperia go, Samsung B2100 Xplorer, Nokia 5140i etc.) and I am ready because of it to endure some minor inconvenience in using of such phones, but CAT S50 is beyond any criticism!!!

  • I ordered this phone and have had it for about 2 weeks now. I bragged so much about it to my fellow active duty military people. Now I want to give it away. The tabs that should keep the ports sealed are not that great, they seem to not seat properly. The time has changed for no reason and I cannot change it. I got up late because the alarm did not sound and when I notice the phone's time, it said the time was 20:40 on the 6th day of February when actually it was 0600 February 20. I've tried to correct this issue and have not figured it out. The world time is correct. I'm in Florida and it is set for eastern time so I don't know what else to do to fix this. Huge disappointment.

  • Well peep that own this phone will know what I'm talking- sim and sd slot is a biggest joke!!! CAT you have to fire whole test management team! Basically phone ruggedness is useless because after smallest drop it almost pops out! I'M SURE WATER WILL COME INTO THIS PHONE. And I mean droping phone from your trousers pocket onto carpet not droping from five store BUILDING on concrete. Camera - also makes me laugh but I don't care about camera, this phone was build for other purposes but sadly CAT you have to recall all phones and build phone that does what you claim it does or change this slot closing design. If you ask me - buy this phone - no way! Idea of this phone is brilliant - size, looks and rest are good but because of this slot closing problem I simply afraid to drop into watter, it must not be like that. P. S noticed a lot of complains about sd card not working but on my phone sd card 64 GB class 10 works no problem.

  • Hello. In reply to all the below as yet I still can't find a file manager that actually lets me transfer photos to the SD card. The SD card works fine in other devices and I can still import photos to the phone from the SD card but there is no exporting option within android or any of the file managers. So for example when I follow another person doing it on their Samsung the process is the same obviously but when it comes to actually moving the files there is no button to do it where there is on other devices. Strange to say but the 'area' where the transfer button is or should be is there but the actual button isn't almost as if there is a block.

  • Are u facing any problem with the SD card?

  • I don't own this phone, but I owned several other Android phones. While it's true you can move apps to SD only from some phones, I haven't found any phone where you can't move images and other files to the SD. If there is no file manager installed by default, you can download one from the Play Store. My personal favorite is "Total Commander", but it might be a bit geeky for some

  • Try to go to Settings, than Storage. In there should be Default write disk option :) By the way - you can try File Expert file manager.

  • No you can't, regardless of the phone. It's a limitation set to Android phones from 4.2 onwards, and you have to root your phone and do some tweaks to make saving apps to SD a possibility.

  • Its not the phones fault, its because the os, android kitkat does not allow it. Maybe there will be an update to lollipop... Or root

  • I am an avid Apple fan and was looking to upgrade to their most recent product but decided as it wasn't much different to the last product I would look elsewhere for my next phone and ended up with the CAT S50. Personally I think it is a great phone. Its lovely in the hand, very good looking, and light but strong. This is my first android phone and I am very pleased with how user friendly it is as well and android is android so I dont feel I need to comment on the operating system particularly. The phone is quick and I have no problems with uploading / downloading and the in app speed and swiftness of the phone is brilliant. The camera is not amazing but this is my phone not my camera so for those general quick photos on a day to day basis the camera is more that adequate. The screen is good and the variable brightness works absolutely fine. The Qi Wireless charging is great and I suffer no problems with that and in truth the battery on it is brilliant. I have had just over 3 days on one charge with normal usage which I think is great. My only annoyance is the memory. The phone comes with only 8GB of memory which leaves in real terms only about 4 ½ GB left. Thankfully there is space though for a microSD card which can expand the memory up to 64GB... Unfortunately though after buying a new SD card I have found that you cant actually use it. So for example I have a 32GB SD card installed, the phone recognises it but there is no way to move apps or photos to the SD card. Unlike other android devices where you can download some stuff straight to the SD card or have photo/video settings set that all photos or videos go straight to the SD card freeing the phone itself up. This is not an option on this phone, I have tried various file manager apps as well and none of those seem to be able to do it either. This bugs me as part of the selling point which attracted me was a new phone with potential 64GB of memory. But this isnt the case. Would I have still got the phone if I knew this in advance? Probably not. But now owning the phone I sit on the fence with it. I really like the phone I do think its great... 8GB is not enough for me and I wish the microSD card could actually be used easily on the phone like other devices. If anyone has a clue on how to fix this issue by all means let me know. That is all.

  • I got my phone from cyprus and after 6 days the screen is not working it just shows black. Said to managers in pafos that the phone has a problem and they said we will take to get fixed and it will take they thing 5 days .Ithink caterpillar has to give me a new phone

  • Android 4.4.2 dont let you use microSD.

  • Has any owner of this phone had luck with the microSD reading? Any type and size? Thanks

  • Has anyone tried the QI wireless charging option. Im considering buying a charge pad but dont want to waste money. Im a bit worried that the charge flap is eventually going to break, then the phone is no longer water/dust proof(one of the reasons I bought it)

  • I meant to say. Hard to tell in the dark.

  • I like the phone. My biggest complaint is the micro SD. I tried a sandisk 8gb didn't see it. Formatted it still no. Tried a generic 512k card and it would tell me that it was removed unexpectedly. Tech support was no help, just gave the turn on/turn off blah blah. One more small thing is that the buttons are almost flush with the phone and is symmetrical, so its hard to figure which way is up, unless it doesn't matter. Stillnlike the phone even with these flaws. Midwest US location.

  • MicroSD doesn't work on mine either Tried multiple ones.

  • this is the best choice for engineers please receive this device for your porchuers in iran

  • I am eager to buy it too.It seems that we should wait for long...

  • Hi, the camera is the only weak point to this phone, otherwise I am very satisfied.

  • how is quqlity of camera any one can answer me?

  • It doesn't come with GPS. Don't really know why.. Check Cat site...

  • when it come to iran please answer me?

  • when it will be available in Philippines ? can't wait for this :( !

  • I really would just hope that there'd be a phone which could handle winter temperatures of Northern Europe. -25c is not enough. I assume it'll work in -35 too, but with a 400+ phone I'd rather just be sure.

  • do you released your phone here in the middle east??? its a must!

  • It's released and in stores (at least in Europe)

  • ele suporta dois chips (ou seja, funciona com 2 operadoras?)

  • it's not released yet how come you have it?

  • Had the phone a week now, it comes with google stuff(basically stock android near to no bloatware) the battery lasts for ages was playing age of civilisations(a game) for 6hrs and still %70 battery left. Everything is very quick, havent had a single problem so far. its a huge upgrade from the B15Q in every way. The screen has excellent view angles(or it might just be my special 3M screen protector) but i can see it clearly at every angle. recomend using a Qi charger making it easier to recharge(USB has a cover).

  • Its not 8 GB internal memory. Its 5.6 GB. Its 7.7 mega pixel camera. MicroSD card with divice is not working

  • The cover for SD and SIM card is disaster for such phone!!! It sometimes leap out even without falling down to ground! i think that, before normal outdoor trip i must glue up it with silicon or something like that, because water will definetely reach phone. Other thing a quite good, i like almost everything, but than slot, rrr, i even dont have worlds...

  • Hi, how to connect micro sd card(32GB) to the device? I can not adjust automatic uploading of images and videos from device to card...

  • The only two things i didn't like about this mobile, first it takes only one sim card comparing to the B150q which its daule ,and the second thing the battery is not removable.

  • I like this phone , but i wait to make decision from user comment , and who can tell me in thailand whare can buy this phone ... Thanks

  • Screen with quite poor angle of visibility i agree with that, phone quite big but i hoped more from battery life, some problems with wifi, but i think it came from buggy kitkat, hope soon will be updated to lollipop, but can't find information about that

  • I've had it for a week now and I like it.. a little too big for me, using with one hand is not very convenient. However big screen is good for browsing and gps(which is very fast). Also, this is one of the fastest androids I've ever touched (comparing with samsung S4 for example). Camera quality is also good enough, video recording and snapshotting is very quick if there is enough light, otherwise you might have focusing troubles as usual.Battery lasts for at least two days with normal use. Reception could be better, but I have not run into any troubles.

  • Very long life battery , lightweight , poor camera.

  • I'm still waiting to test this device. Currently own Lumia 625 and I'm satisfied with it, previously had iPhone 3gs and now contemplating purchasing Cat with Android OS. Its very unique design makes it interesting amongst other handset users and pretty good option to choose from. Looking forward to seeing more comments on this from Cats users.

  • Thumbs up for led light. Screen is TFT as on CAT B15 which has very poor angle visibility. Hopefully S50 will be better at that.

  • No DualSIM version?? Why? So i cant upgrade my Cat S15 with low-memory :(

  • I watched the Unboxing so the battery is 2600 ma and the wight is 140 g .

  • Keep up the good work Caterpillar, These rugged phones kick ass.

  • Keep up the good work Caterpillar, These rugged phones kick ass.

  • Way better quality phone then the previous CAT phones.
