Palm Pre 2 - User Reviews

  • Palm Pre 2 reactivated today - still great smartphone!

  • Precisely 0 people (in 1st world countries anyway)

  • How many of you still use this device as a daily driver or backup phone ?? I mean it’s App Store has been dead for a long time and the only way to use apps is to sideload from its web browser Fortunately and amazingly webos phones still have plenty of unofficial supports from a huge webos maniac supporters

  • that's nonsense you can use preware

  • pl check this link for the Preqare app that allows you to install apps directly from the phone

  • battery back up ravadam ledu

  • Hello there is many ways to do so but is best if you follow the instructions on this link is from Webosnation and that's where all the information for this phone is at

  • Hello, You need to get Web OS Quick install and novacom drivers, you can download directly from the Quick install or download as well the preware which is loaded with patches and applications for this phone. you can get more instruction at webosnation.com

  • I got this phone in Nicaragua, the 3G connection is awesome, I have it with 2.2.4 and the multi-tasking is a breeze, I compare this phone with many Android devices here and most of the time they crashed, this phone has the capabilities to handle over 28 applications open at the same time. The Bluetooth is only for the headsets and the browser does the job. Web OS is the best OS out-there too bad they sold it to LG.

  • how to install Services and how to download images and videos

  • i honestly hate my phone ive had it about 3 months and it fell out of my hand shatered and now tells me i have to many cards but i cant figure out what that means and so through all this i say its a carful persons type of phone that cant be treated roughly

  • I've had this phone about 20 months now. Takes excellent pics. The sound is clear and loud. It's fairly fast too - not too slow. A few of its capabilities, I haven't used yet, like the GRPS. All the same, I've found it performs satisfactorily overall except you do have to remember to hit the icon for screen changes dead on centre otherwise it won't change first time. I like the feel of it in my palm because of the rubberized skin which makes it feel like you have a secure grip of it at all times and I don't mind the idea of an onboard keyboard either. As far as I know, it's poss to download a virtual keyboard for those who prefer those. Just shop about.

  • Download "HP webOS Doctor" software (use google, or login into your Palm Profile on and reinstall whole OS.

  • on your screen click the call buttonthen click your network operator provider at the upper left corner. example (smart buddy). click preferences and accounts.go down and dis able data roaming. then disable data usage... and your good to go...

  • please tell me how to disable internet.. for example in the corner of the screen the alphabet E is there. so my balance is 0 every time i recharge it.. i dont know what is the problem.. please solve the problem..

If you get a Pre 2 check out webOS Nation Forums for many useful apps, patches, how to instructions. You can make this phone sit up, roll over, fetch, jump through hoops so easily. :D

  • From where i can get Palm handset can anyboby tell me.

  • I have progressed from a Tungsten to a Treo 680 to a Pre Plus to this Pre 2, and have been satisfied with the performance and transition ... until this one. The transition was dreadful, losing most of my apps' data, but the device is excellent. Then HP insisted on 'upgrading' from WebOS 2.1.0 to 2.2.4. I have rebuilt the phone four times, the last time with a complete wipe, and every time the phone would not allow calls out (except to voicemail or a missed call) when the latest OS is running. Guess what? They cannot revert to the old OS, so far cannot fix this glitch.

  • Using this phone since last 2 months. Have used BB, Android, iOS & Nokia in the past. Few things that I like most about this phone, webOS is truly a mobile OS. The interface is just as a user would want to. Android & iOS have copied most of the stuff from webOS. Though 5 MP, the camera captures stunning pics in available light. Sometimes even better than my 18 MP dSLR. FB, Mails, Calendar, SMS is fun to use. Its even more fun on the HP Toucpad. Unlike Android, once you close an app, it closes and does not keep running in the background. Audio is great. Noise cancellation works as expected. Induction charging is so convenient. Few bad things about the phone, Lot of plugs to be filled when it comes to construction quality. The only good thing is the Gorilla glass. Lack of onscreen keyboard can make typing a horror. If you can live with few of these cons, then it's a wonderful device & OS to have.

  • the Palm Pre 2 is a decent smartphone, decent hardware, a screen resolution that may seem a bit low in comparison to today's "retina displays" etc. webOS is a joy to use, the multitasking is best-in-industry, notifications are unique, synergy link information well, although it has some serious speed/responsiveness problems at times, due to the lack of optimization. App selection isn't as big of a problem as it may seem, but its still a problem. Build quality is improved over the previous iterations, keyboard is usable, despite its size. In the Pre phones are numerous nice touches (mirror on back, curved design, wireless charging, synergy, clean look) that really add to the overall experience, but are lacking in some big things. (Performance is, again, a huge shortcoming of webOS, although tweaks can improve it greatly. (via homebrew patches, akin to jailbreaking on iOS, although its supported by HP, unlike Apple) Bottom line: decent phone with enough horses under-the-hood, nice touches (said above), and does not have the build quality issues of its predecessors. webOS is an OS full of good ideas (starting to be seen in competitors), but sometimes lacks the basics and has odd quirks/bugs.

  • My wife and bro have had palms for years. So, I thought I would go with it. I have no issues with the smart part of the phone and the web os other than touch screen sensitivity. And issue is my problem with the actual phone usage. The touch screen sux. Making a simple dial the numbers phone call or entering voice mail password is a nightmare because the screen is not sensitive enough. This is not the phone to enter the smart phone world with for a smart phone newbee. I despise this phone, I'd rather have an ancient motorola razr.

  • Android is an operating system Nokia and palm now owned by HP can always switchover from webosor their own os to android. Btw palm webos is a prettynice operating system the multitasking features are amazing most as good as a desktop runnng windows 7.

  • Palm Dead...next one is Blackberry..then Nokia....then Apple..then Microsoft....... Android is going to win all in 2016

  • how long will this phone last you? Battery wise and yearly wise? So how many hours will it last you, and is it a durable phone? Someone tell me please :)

  • Best phone ive ever used. :D

  • poor battery life and sound quality, vibrate mode may as well not be there, below par camera quality, takes too long for touchscreen to lock, loses its value, pretty easy to use and excellent internet capability but the neagatives far outweigh the positives for me !

  • Isn't palm broke yet. It should be. From thenleader of then pack to just plain boring.

  • 120£@Amazon. Have one for a month. Really like it. The quality of construction and battery are the weak links.

  • i love the design an the web-os but its a shame that i cant get it in my country there are no palm pre-s there i hate that damn i want this phone i whould kill for this phone (just kidding) but i realy like it and i live in slovenija just for information if enyone reads this.

  • Where you find 80 euro price for this phone?

  • It's for sale in Europe by l80. Now what? Is it a bad phone by that money? Even with WebOs 2.1? I don't think so...

  • Dont buy this phone..I bought it last week and since then it dissapoints me more and more each day.. *1st of all: its bluetooth doesnt connect with other phones. *2nd: If u take a picture with its camera and put it as a contact picture then a really zoomed in version of it will appear when the person will call. *3rd: Its camera doesnt have a zoom in application. *4th: to get some applications u need to download them from the app catalog that never loads -.- *5th:after a week the date and time when u received a message isnt displayed anymore *6th: by a magical way it spends my money with me no touching it..! Its just a big dissapointment.. First time i saw it i fell in love with it... now? i just want to sell it -.-

  • ha hahahaha haha oh the language confusion.....god that's funny. really, palmlover? indonesia needs some women?

  • couldn't agree more.. indonesia have lots of palmlover..

  • awesome phone, beautiful ui. Wish it had more apps though.

  • Why this phone release for indonesian customer, I think its will be successed if bundling with telkomsel provider (www.telkomsel.com)

  • Probably Worsted phone Ever. Very Poor Battery life. Sometimes not enough battery for 1 day and the only thing i use it for is phoning and texting. The palm is also very slow, even for simple tasks as answering the phone or disabling the alarm; it takes seconds before the phone responds. Never seen an system update... Less configuration options. Even not possible to disable 3G antenna.

  • Does anyone know if this support Chinese characters (read and input)? Thanks

  • umts(gsm sim) is the one for europe.

  • There are two versions. One for the US and one for Europe.

  • do you know if it works in europe?

  • Can anyone tell me if Palm OS is easy to install other foreign languages for input and viewing??? Never had one, but I would like one....

  • Hi Can anyone tell me what the loudspeaker on the phone is like.Is loud and clear enough to us in the car instead of the ear piece.? Also does anyone know what the sar value is.? Thanks Bert

  • It would be great if every phone with "scratch-resistant" display had that expression in the specs, so if one searches for that expression, all of them would be listed. like iphone 4 and some others. Thanks.

  • i thing tha this is a great phone tha can hit the iphone 3gs...the adobe flash player is something i want to see to more known phones but i don't...i want to read a review for this phone sonn..thanks for the fb acount its a good start to have more opinions

  • Sweet phone, just I not sure this palm phone got radio or not. Also I curious about secondary camera.

  • I own the Pre Plus and considering getting the Pre 2 or whatever Palm has in store next year. There will be lots of webOS devices come January at CES

  • cool! i think im gonna get one soon! thanks rom!

  • this device is in one word fantastic. WebOS 2.0 is really a fantastic experience ,everything works very smoothly,

  • I love my Palm Pre 2! Fast, reliable, fun, small and build nice!

  • You're from Manila? How did you acquire the Pre2

  • as of now, I can't figure out who to set up mms. but the app catalog, everything is working perfectly well. I'm on Smart network

  • Been waiting for an unlocked version of this device. So far, Pre owners I've encountered love their devices as it more than suits their needs. Also looks very attractive. Glad HP kept the form factor & txt entry's a nice experience for me. Web OS thus far has stellar reviews! Looking for device that can play hard and work even harder. I feel this device shows lots of promise!

  • > "the design sucks" I disagree, the design is great, the build sucks! :)

  • Sadly, the build quality on my Palm Pre 2 was much like that of the earlier Pre, rubbish. The keyboard developed the wobbles after 3-4 days followed by a audio problem with the phone... Crackles and pops followed by a crash. This may have been sorted by a reboot, but on a brand new £400 phone? I think not. It has gone back after 10 days. webOS 2 is faster and slicker in operation than earlier versions in my admittedly limited experience and the whole visual feel was nicer than webOS 1.x. The loss of the home button was almost certainly because of all the issues with cracking screens on the first Pre's (yep, I had that too) and was not missed on the Pre 2 (or the Plus), the new flat glass screen is nice to use and feels and looks great. As ever, the prestore is not as well stocked as say the Apple stuff, but it has the essentials and grows by the day. It is quick and easy to use and again, had a better feel. The Pixi maybe a better bet as the qwerty kb is fixed at the expense of the screen size. The Pre compact form factor is still superb, I do not want an iFone sized device in my overalls, and neither do many others I would suggest. To sum up? I was so disappointed that the phone will not do it for me. I am long time Palm user, and HP need to find someone to build the phones to be robust and reliable. Maybe when they license webOS to HTC, things will improve...? :) Now to decide where to go as I need a new phone... W7 looks the likeliest option BUT no compact qwerty phones yet

  • Hey Rom, are all features working in the Philippine network? MMS, internet, etc? which network are you using? how about Palm's app store? can you access it? thanks!

  • Looking over my favorite youtube channels I come across this quick review on Palm Pre 2 done by telecomtv. Maybe you would want to take a look too. ?p1950

  • The Palm Pre 2 is really good. Check out my review of the Palm Pre 2 here -

  • Hi everyone! I am very interested in the Palm Pre 2, looks amazing! Just a question can it be synced to a macbook pro?? And does it sync "well"?? Cheers!

  • palm is good ! but the thing that matters is the design of the phone. really sucks. T.T

  • I was thinking about buying the Pre 2, but Palm can kiss my arse if they think im going to pay 30% more than the rest of the world!!!

  • I own a Palm Pre Plus and live in the Philippines. And yes, Palm Pre 2 will be sold unlocked on HP's own website. Looking forward to upgrade to it! :)

  • Why, why , why when HP took a fresh look and updated this lovely pebble they did not bother to put a micro sd card slot in!

  • ooopps, take it easy. with Palm Pre 2's WiFi router capability for up to 5 devices, it is a G-R-E-A-T match with Archos 70 (cheap, high spec, and without additional charge on 3G usage) use your Pre 2 for texting/simple connection or update with friends, use your Archos 70 for multi-media and other internet stuff. of course when you are mobile or on the go, you need not bring your tablet, because "mobility" is the time you are personally connecting with people/friends AND NOTHING IS PERFECT IN THIS WORLD. it's a matter of preference (so stop being phone expert, hello...)

  • since HP own PALM , i hope for better phones from PALM .

  • you can dream on. eventhough the call center for Palm is in Philipines, they wont release it in asia. theres no market here. I was a big time fan of Palm, but PALM SUCKS big time.

  • me too LEEMAR. waiting since the first Palm Pre. I hope they release an unlocked verison because I dont want any AT&T or Verizon engraving at the back of the sliding part.

  • nice phone both model are great

  • when will this version come to asia??? waiting for the palm to release new phone's here in the philippines.

  • But this thing is only on Verizon meaning its CDMA and not GSM, please confirm

  • or this one ??

  • is made by HP ???

  • nice phone . processor is super , 16m colors , normal screen size 3.1 , multi touch etc .

  • the screen is actually 320 x 480...

  • That screen does not look to be 480x800. I need to keep the 2x3 ratio of the Palm Pre plus otherwise it will need to be a longer device. I saw this it does not look to be any longer if this is real.

  • need a big screan...

  • I like Palm OS. No1!
