If you have previous backup of your phone in zune software , you can restore it.Press camera,volume down and power button at the same time and image of phone with usb cable and laptop will be displayed on screen and from there you can connect usb cable and open zune software and restore.If you have not backup any time, then you will need to flash your phone as part of the WP7 boot process depends on the files on storage card too.

this best thing to do is download "Whats the app" it allows you to download files of reasonable size regardless of the OS the phones are running. However, if you want to download files to yourself the best thing to do is upload them to SkyDrive through Microsoft.

Maksh I updated my cell using cabs files. Updating the cabs on my cell one after the other in the serial order. The method of updating is given in the zip folder in my link provided as a txt file. Use that for help. First of all download the update from the link. Unzip the files in a new folder, open the instruction txt file and follow the method given. I successfully updated my cell to window 7.8. I hope you too get successful in doing so. If you need any more help just ask anytime for it.

But I have updated my phone to window 7.8 and it works like a charm. Use this site to download the update and follow the instructions carefully and excute them carefully or this could damage your cellphone and void the warrenty, I did it it was easy the cell restarted 7 times but it looks fab now.

crazy to give your sim number out over the Internet, i would change the sim before someone hacks into your account and starts making calls at your expense. Did nobody ever tell you not to just put your details up on the Internet...crazy person. Now you got to go to all that trouble to cancel your sim as stolen and get another one and probably lose your number. This could be a software or hardware damage issue. If its hardware there is nothing you can do, but if its software then just download the zune software on your computer and reset your phone from settings and again update it from the software. It is quite possible that your problem will be resolved.

I am using the cellphone from last 2 months. The cellphone is great. It feels good to have a smartphone like it. I have not faced any problem from the time I purchased it. There is no phone which could be called perfect so if it does not do exactly what you want its just a phone like the other phones. My phone easily connects to wifi, gprs, even 3g network and the speed is good as tested by me. The camera is little shaky but if you will go through the settings you will find it pretty good. The video recording is also good. The qwerty keypad will also ease you up in the beginning if you have not used a touch cell phone before and the keys are pretty good and responsive. The gaming experience is great on it as the touch is very light and feels great. I love playing games on it and the games does not slow or hangs when playing. The only negative point I found in the phone was the battery life. The battery drains out quickly. It lasts only a day but keeping in mind the O.S and the features of the cellphone I think it is resist-able, as I have used samasung galaxy s2 and htc radar before and their battery life was the same. If you want a phone with great battery life use nokia 1100. If you face any problem using the cellphone just google the problem and you will find lots of solution that you can use it remove it, I personal had few problems in the settings but I too overcame them using those suggestions. So in all I think it is a good and affordable choice for people who want to have a difference from the crowd.

Never Buy this. This phone some time receives other calls in the neighbourhood. I used to find my phone is idle(Not in an Inbound or Outbound call) but i can listen to people speaking over phone to each other. Recently i found this phone will not work for IVRS calls as it never recognises the keys pressed as actual key. I have faced this with citibank and thought it is issue with provider and changed the sim and tried again to find the same issue, so it is an issue with Hardware.

I've had previous Windows Mobile devices for seven year. I've had the Dell Venue Pro Windows 7.5 Mango for eight days. And eight days is all it took to turn me completely against Windows forever. The software/operating system are absolute garbage. And I LOVED the older WM set ups. This is NOTHING like previous Windows Mobile. Everything they learned, everything they knew, they threw out the window and started from the ground up. And THEY were obviously a team of morons with insufficient experience to design a paper airplane, let alone a piece of modern technology. And at every step of the way, it is set up for you to HAVE to share your info and your content with Microsoft. Obviously they realized they could not make enough money selling WM devices against Android and iPhone, so Microsoft decided to make money by selling all your personal profiles and preferences that they accumulate to marketing companies. Way to go Microsoft-- you created a new stream of revenue while destroying your entire interface with the user! Clearly, we will see Microsoft fall to nothing in our lifetimes. It is well underway. No company that ruins its product the way Microsoft has will survive.

I had purchased this phone from newegg.com and the first one I received headphone jack was messed but everything else was fine. With the second one I have it started shutting off everytime I open and close it. I wiped everything off and now it's working better I also had problems with the volume going in and out but I just wish Dell cared more about its products instead of making them and then just forgetting about them because this phone would topple(still can) a lot of these smartphones out here.

crashed at least 5 times a day from day one, then rejected built in memory card, and will only accept new one set up by Dell themselves, i was asked to ship it back to china for repair, needless to say it now lives at bottom of a drawer. had it worked it would have been a fantastic phone.

Yeah this is one of the awesome features of the WP 7.5, yo don't need to save any configuration to use data services Also in my university campus the mobile phone WiFi is blocked. But the WP can easily connect to the college WiFi without hesitation, so while android, Symbian and bb use up their slow data services, I enjoy the super fast WiFi ;-):-D:-D

i have bought dell venue on june 2012 and two times this phone was replaced by the company and still i have facing the same problem...... when i make a call or i received calls the screen was not displayed, i am not able to receive or disconnect... // It is because of that proximity sensor i think , which is present at the top right of the mobile. it isn't a big deal, just cal anyone and dont put your phone to ear..just hold it with 1 hand and use the 2nd hand finger & move on that top right corner area.There ends the matter :D i think that is necessary for these touch phones !!

actually when i checked for updates in zune no updates were found but today i had to reset my phn due to some reasons and after resetting when i connected it to zune 7.10.8773(tango) update was available and my dell venue pro got updated maybe those unable to find updates can try this.

Yeah dude...this is one of the crapiest thing about WP 7.5 and iOS......we can't send files over Bluetooth... The only way we can do dat if we unlock the phone....which is risky but after unlocking we can have any app running on the phone without hesitation....the only good app for Bluetooth is DT file transfer....but as u said its a xap file:(

Windows phone 8 is not available on existing WP phones because of the hardware requirements, but u can get the experience of wp8 in ur existing Windows phone with an update wp 7.8 which will be launched soon. the WP 7.5 has IE 9, which is fast-really fast wen compared to other browsers, Believe me coz i have tried many of them....the phone ha adreno 200 and adobe flash player which helps u open any website, no matter how heavy it is, like a charm....:D

the not connecting with other devices with BT problem is actually a WP 7.5 problem, Microsoft added extra security and disabled the interconnection with other devices to share files over BT. But there are certain apps that will get the job done, so don't worry about it too much because when you will get your hands on a windows phone, the cons seems to diminish to a great extent. ;)

Pro- - really awesome display, AMOLED screen gives very clear and discrete resolution - includes Flash so opening websites is no problem. - Mango utilizes the 1 ghz processor nicely, i opened 10 tabs along with 2 apps running in the background, still functions like a charm! - HD videos are very clear. cons- -Bad camera quality. (but an app called photoroom makes it usable enough) -low battery life. (but i guess thats common for high-end phones) -Online videos does not buffer in the background if screen is locked, you have to restart the video and it will start buffering again. i give this phone 8.5/10...:D

Hey guys iv been using dell venue pro for over 3 months now..the phone is extremely solid and good to use...battery is about 1500 mah which lasts upto a day which is pretty satisfactory..the screen (AMOLED) is absolutely top notch and watching hd videos is so much fun on it... Just wanted to ask if its possible to run android on DVP (Which is running on normal dell venue by the way)... The phone came with WP7 out of the box. But if you connect it to your PC and run the Zune software and update the phone, it will automatically install all available updates. The latest one, which installs WP 7.5 is named 7.11.xxxx. Zune really is not a problem I was talking about. The Zune software you use on the PC to transfer music, videos etc. is very-very smooth and much better than iTunes. It's just that I dislike that you can't simply drag and drop files into the phone's memory like I can do with my other phone. Also, to download any app you must have a hotmail/windows live accounts (which is free)

Just got the phone yesterday, very very pleased with it. Keyboard is nice, sliding mechanism is solid. Back panel is non-glossy and that is a big plus for me. It came with WP 7 but it only took me about 20 minutes to update it to WP 7.5. Interface is slick. The only main concern is that Microsoft seems to be locking it down a bit by making you use Zune software and signing in to a Live ID before downloading any app. But at the current price (INR 14,000 ~270 USD), it is totally unbeatable. BTW, I asked this question but did not get any response - the phone does function without a SIM card inserted.

25,000 dell employees have dell venue pros. That's a pretty good reason to keep them up to date. The problem is not that they stopped making dell venue pros. Heck, some of the most popular windows phone devices have also been discontinued. The problem is that they don't make any other windows phones, or any phones for that matter. This fuels speculation that dell is exiting the smartphone market entirely, and the department tasked with adapting windows phone updates to their handsets would be eliminated. There's really no telling whether or not the DVP will ever get windows phone 8. If you want to play it safe, get a lumia 900 on AT&T, or wait for another T-Mobile phone with a decent sized AMOLED screen. It's worth mentioning though that these are pretty cheap in the aftermarket, so if you want to try one out, you should go for it. If they aren't updated when WP8 comes out, sell it.

Well bud you can transfer your pdf files from your computer to Skydrive and the back to your WM7.5 device. But, I would have to warn you about the file size restriction that skydrive have for any file above 100mb cannot be transferred. 50mb files can be transferred easily thanks to Skydrive!

The DVP actually does come with a Micro-SD Slot built into the machine but has been hidden to your naked-eye's thanks to the warranty sticker that they have used to cover it. The Dell Service centre actually considers any device void if the warranty sticker is tampered with. Unlike to Samsung focus which shows-of its SD slot many other device manufacturers have decided to hide the SD slot either under warranty sticer i.e. in the case of DVP and below the plastic body for devices like HTC & LG C900.

Sorry NMK - this is one of the negative things in this phone. You can only access your pdf files thru email. I mean - you need to email yourself those pdf files and download it on phone thru email. Open it using adobe app. The problem is that you cannot email those huge 50mb plus pdf files. I have been using this phone for 6 months now. Tried all possible things but Could not find a way out. I have my own small tech consulting business.Got a Venue Pro from my girl friend for Christmas. So I have had a few weeks to play with it and get a feel for all the functions of the device. I love it! I have had some type of Blackberry for the last 4 years plus and used it extensively for work. The phone that the Venue Pro is replacing is a Blackberry Bold 9700. I use multiple e-mail accounts (some business and some personal), Google Voice account for work, and a Google apps account (think Microsoft exchange server but from google). All my accounts installed perfectly and options are very functional. My almost 400 contacts and calendar synced up natively. (I had to run a sync app from google to get this on my BlackBerry). The Dell hardware is very well put together and feels excellent in the hand. The speaker phone is superb and the voice dialing and texting works very well. The large bright AMOLED display is gorgeous pictures and text pop. (you really have to see the screen appreciate it) Multi-touch works very well and the typing on the screen works very well. (I am not a touch screen typest and wanted this phone dew to the slide out keybord, but I am teaching myself to type on the screen due to most phones not having keyboards) The qwerty keybord is not as good as blackberrys but it is very good. The camera is ok. It takes great pictures in good light but becomes quickly unusable in low light (also seems very slow). It is odd to me because video records rather well. Although the hardware is generally excellent (except for the camera) The real winner on this phone is Win Phone 7 mango (mine had mango pre-installed). The windows phone OS is excellent. I setup and support phones for a lot of my customers and have worked with all versions of the iPhone, and many variations of Android phones. Mango is straight forward and extremely well laid out. The phone is very quick even without a dual core processer which has to be attributed to a well put together OS. Overall the is an excellent phone. Couple of things to keep in mind�..this is a big heavy phone. I do not find it too big or too heavy but I can see this as a deal breaker for some.

I updated my DVP to mango beta update today,while the mango end user update for all will be coming between nov to dec,the phone has some good updates i found was; 1.After Pressing the Shutdown button on the top one has to slide the screen saver up to shutdown the phone. 2.Micosoft Office has new sub-catagories; sharePoint,Phone,Office365,Skydrive. 3.One can Instal Unlimited Games/Applications,where as games in NODO update was limited. 4.Messaging has a features called "Threads" where all the msg.from same user are integrated.and one does not need to detele it one by one,just select the thread and delete it. 5.Messaging has a extra feature Online friends,which shows ur friends at facebook and u can chat with them in massinging 6.In internet explorer u can play flash websites with flash applications 7.U can link multiple email accounts to one linked inbox which shows all inboxes at one place. 8.Msg.by speaking to the phone and it converts ur speach to text. 9.If u r using handsfree and get a msg its converted to speach and u hear the msg(only oh handsfree) 10.In search options u have some realy cool fucntions like converting a non english language to other language by taking a pic. of the text. and may more usefull and cool functions r available. plz post ur questions if u have any doubt about the phone

I got Dell Venue Pro few days back. Was impressed by the ease of use and touch response. The vertical QWERTY keyboard and AMOLED screen are its few plus over other WP7 available. Initially was pissed off due to unavailability of Marketplace in India, but later I was able to get Marketplace on my Zune by editing few registry items. And that opened the access to the sea of some very good apps and games available. Marketplace didn't work on Phone though. That was until I hacked it to install latest Mango. I am running WP7.10 (7710). Mango has made-up for everything this phone was missing. I can install apps and games from my Phone, I have custom ringtones. I love the one-inbox for multiple accounts and threaded conversations. One more great thing, I got native Twitter and LinkedIn support right in my PeopleHub. Apart from software part, the phone doesn't lag in Hardware section too. Yeah its a bit too heavy, but the built is solid also keyboard slider seems stable, screen looks better than other counterparts. Camera is ok, but good part is its video capturing quality. All in all, its a great phone to have.

the phone has 512mb ram (officially confirmed by DELL)... but most sites report it as 256 as they use a software to check the phones ram, and WINDOWS PHONE 7 allocates only 256mb ram for apps running... the other 256 is for system process... so its 512mb ram, n not 256mb ram... the phone is TOO GOOD :D check the specs here :D :D

@vilas: dude,use the software "Windows MArketplace Enabler",select india,and then open zune! you ll get narketplace,in indian rupees! the phone marketplace cannot be used as yet! but microsoft did open the marketplace for a few days early april when we didnt need this software to access the marketplace,but its blocked again..guess they ll re introdude soon..till then,use this software!

absolutely awesome phone! smooth as silk,camera gets a 4 on 5 for te dhots, but its very prone to shakes. a bit on the heavier side, but it feels great in your hand! but dont try to compare the weight with any other phone,it ll disappoint you. qwerty keypad is great to use! battery life is average,12-16 hours,with a few camera shots, and moderate use. but i ve only had it for 3 weeks now..i heard it ll inprove..it has been improvin actually.but a full day can drain it! sexy design,gorilla glass still shows no scratches,but its a fingerprint haven,everythin from the glass,to the metal sides,to dell's patented back cover! but overall, a 9 on 10! super smooth,super design,one of the best batteries on any wp7,and the awesome potrait qwerty!

It is really great experience to use Dell Venue Pro. Had it been with less weight, mobile phone should not exceed 130gm and less size, one 2 cm less in height with integrated Qwerty would have been much better to carry and use. Most of the business users will love this phone as this has wondeful integration with Exchange. One issue in India, it appears that no application in India, it gives message 'No Marketplace in Country / Region'. Dell must look into this immediately. We won't buying them in US$.

Portrait keyboard is good enough, though not perfect. camera quite good under direct sunlight but have to manually adjust to iso 800 for indoor shootings. micro sd cards can be replaced to expand storage space (void warranty) - a huge plus of DVP among its WP7 peers amoled screen: highly saturated but biased colors, appealing though. very bulky and was delayed for so long... all in all, a great phone~

Be warned... The Internet will tell you that it's easy to upgrade these phones. (It's not and your warranty will be voided after you switch out the original card)... My 8GB model would not recognize two different 32gb microsd cards. My warranty was voided, and the 8 gb card that originally came with the phone eventually broke on me after I keep switching the 32 gb cards with the 8gb card. I broke my phone and had to buy a new one from Dell at full price. Sucks because it's a great phone but I want more space!

about the 256 mb ram: te phone has 512 mb of ram,confirmed dell. the reason it sgows 256 is because the phone uses up 256 mb fo rits own use leaving behind the ret for the apps. it wasa confirmed by dell,according to some review i read,sorry i dont remember where. buthte dell site too gives specs as 512mb. so i guess we should elieve them and there is no reason to worry.

Guys .. freaking awesome phone .. used it, preety fast , touch is amazing the slide out keyboard is tiny, but the onscreen keyboard fills up for the same . You can play most of ur Xbox games on the device and has nice connectibity. The camera is not that great from a 5mega pixel. But than it has loads of other things to keep u busy.

It does support a basic set of multitasking possibilities, but that's not the point. The point is Windows Phone will expand, and with only 256MB of RAM, it's the first phone that will lack memory as all other devices have 512MB.

Hi, WP7 "right now" does not support multi-tasking, hence, RAM is not an issue as such. But it is widely believed that MS will bring out a major update for WP7 in CES2011 which is happening in a few days' time. At tht time, wen multi-tasking is introduced, DVP bubble will fall like a pack of cards compared to other WP7 devices like Focus or HD7, etc which have more than enough RAM packed into thm. The minimum specification for a Windows Phone 7 is 256MB of RAM so it does meet requirements but on the low end for memory. With some exceptions as to gaming shouldn't be too much of an issue. But yes I wish it had more memory.

I got the phone for about a week now, I just have to say that this is by far the best WP7. Everything about this phone is perfect. Best facebook integration with your contacts list. The window tile are beautiful. I think this phone is worst the money you spent.

Agree with you, does Microsoft know about this huge problem? This will turn alot of people off considering on the spec it does say 512 MB. When it's really running 256 MB which is way below the mimimum of Microsoft's requirements. Correct this now or you customer will flee.

what do you mean "no radio"? this phone has FM radio, reading the specs: Radio Stereo FM radio with RDS ... and what's wrong with the 08 snapdragon processor? This processor is so good, that HTC HD2 was re-released with the same processor on HTC HD7. Now if you want to talk about ripoff HD7 is the ripoff for the price! Especially since Fry's was giving away HTC HD2 for free! (with 2 year T-Mobile renewal)

Have bee usign this for abut a month now. Bought it at the MSFT Store. This unit is amazing. I love every aspect of the phone. The big surprise was the quality of the screen and the quality of the speakers. The sliding keyboard has a great feel to it. My only gripes: 1) The screen seems to mounted slightly crooked - off by about 1/2mm 2) It is a bit fat due to the sliding screen It is the best thinng I've ever seen come out of Dell.

This phone is less expensive than HTC HD7 for Tmobile and should be a seamless transition from my Blackberry Curve. I have to say, your comment doesn't really make sense. Whatever your profession is, you cannot tell someone that a phone won't be available in their country if it is, grey market or not. Whilst you may be limited to not saying how/when/where you could, in any situation, tell them that in some way the product would be available. If, through the grey market, the Venue Pro is going to be available, then it is available whatever the way, so you cannot say it isn't - simple.

I thought people should know (if you don't already) that the storage specs on this page are wrong. The Venue Pro only has 1GB of storage (unlike the 8GB found on other WP7 devices) however it does have a memory card slot. From what I've heard - the memory card merges with the internal memory, meaning you don't have to save separatly to the card/phone but you cannot then use the card in a PC and when taking out/putting it in a phone reset is required.

I really don't know how you claim to be a Mobile Expert. Your un-aware of the fact that post Nov8th this phone will be sold in Hong Kong, UK and Dubai SIM-FREE, hence the availability of this phone in the grey market in India will be abundant (once again subject to its demand and popularity, since HTC is more of a well known brand here). So the long wait is not needed, besides for anyone interested in nabbing this phone can freely order it of clove or expansys, which turns out to be much cheaper than the expected price in India.

Dear dilip, Sorry to say but this Dell Venue Pro is going to be limited in USA only with T-mobile. As per my review in past months, Reliance India is trying to get Dell Venue Pro under their banner, but thats going to be possible only in late June Or July 2011. Till then wait and watch over for its review in the international market. Besides Dell is also planing to have more advanced feature in their upcoming phone device which is expected to launch world wide by the end of 2011. The phone planed by them is also going to compite with the high end models of NOKIa E90 etc. So .... have a blissful winter & wait for the next winter as its going to be raining mobiles. Those are some serious broken record issues right there. Flash is coming very, very soon (it will be downloadable, just like on most Android devices), just not at launch. The phone is taking an entirely new approach to multi-tasking, so no, it doesn't have 'desktop' multi-tasking. It's been made clear over and over again that MS is not trying to put a PC into a handset. Note the distinct lack of icon grids. Copy/paste will also be coming. At launch, not so much, but MS has said that there will be intelligent functions built in to address most of the scenarios in which people would use copy/paste. I hate to take cheap shots, but even Android utterly lacks copy/paste functionality when reading email (one of the few times I ever really need it, and I hate having to open my email in a web-browser just to copy text).

The OS on this thing looks a lot like what my HD Zune has (Way better then any iPod btw. Even though its just a rumor still the specs one this are truly insane, considering that the new OS is supposed to require less demanding hardware, and things like that. I like the new apporach Microsoft is going with this OS, its geared more to the normal person, people who use a phone for what it's for and that to communicate and stay connected. The new OS is also a lot easier to use then the old WinMo versions (Considering its basis is the Zune interface). I really can't wait to see this thing come out. I had Dell computers, but this phone, its just perfection it seems. Of course we won't get it in the states, so if it dose come out, I just hope I can get an unlocked US compatiable version.

how can we rely on amoled or super amoled screens?? as there is limited lifespan for organic light emitting diode display.... difference between amoled and super amoled is just 20% brighter screen, 80% less sunlight reflection and 20% reduced power consumption. what about he life span?? is it ok using it for about 14000 hours such an expensive devices??

Touchscreen phone with 16m colors,and full qwerty keyboard,can't beat that,not too bulky,or too huge,this could be the best phone out there. I really like all these new touchscreen phones,but they lack in full qwerty keyboard which is a must for people who do lots of SMS,E-mails. Congrats Dell

Wow, this one is really quite impressive. It pretty much has everything that you need. I actually like its form factor. Onscreen keyboards are cool, but nothing beats the old slide out qwerty hard keyboard. I need to actually test a phone out before considering it. So I hope they can have this phone available in stores for hands on testing.

killer phone!! should really make it a side slider keyboard though because it has a 4.1 inch screen so the keys could be made really big, finger friendly and easy to use.

One weakness - there is no Document editor! Obviously WM phones will not have office editor by default as they all have it now ... Strange, because all WM phones should be business class phones.
