Ericsson R320 - User Reviews

  • Can anyone tell me what is the name game of the black and white dots please?

  • Pro:s Excellent voice quality Excellent radio module quality (= communications with operator's base station) can keep contact with network even with poor network conditions, although poor network conditions increase power consumption. Excellent AT command support. Phone supports talking while charging, with no disturbing sounds due to switch-mode power supply in the charger unit. Unfortunately, this site fails to list supported GSM frequencies. To my knowledge: Supports GSM 900/1800 MHz Unclear if supported network includes E-GSM or not. Cons: After 16 years, replacement battery may be difficult to find.

  • This mobile phone has a Li-ion battery, not NiMh!

  • Great phone! I love it very much - a true, dedicated friend!

  • my first phone, and still work, but dont using

  • I love it

  • bad phone cell , i buy new one but can't call every one , after connecting indicated , then off .....maaaaan

  • bad reception comes of a burnt ic. and or overheated crystal after ca 150 hour talktime

  • my first mobile

  • The first releases had an unreliable transmitter that sometimes overheated and died. I had one back in 2002, but I got rid of because the battery was bad

  • R320 is cool had two back in 2001. They died with in months. Probably because of moistt from rainy days? Got myself a third just for fun, this autumn (2011) having a T28 too, the battery and even the antenna can be changed between T228 and R320! A sad true,, phones from around 2000 were more prone to die from being used a rainy day than todays phones.

  • Superb phone. I bought it in 2012. Looks futuristic, design is a state of art. The back of the mobile it's made of metal

  • From r320: Correction to the frequency quoted, I meant to say 900MHz not 400MHz :)

  • Just bought one of these from ebay in mint condition for £7.00!! It's the sc version for the Chinese market but once you put your SIM card in it'll change to your language. Remember it's 2000 technology and advanced for that year too. It can't compete with today's phones on media features but it'll beat them for call quality in poor signal areas, especially on networks using 400MHz for better indoor reception as it had an external aerial and a socket for connecting a vehicle mounted aerial. You won't find a better made, more robust phone and despite being an older design it is still attractive to have on display, a real conversation starter. You can be another iphone or Galaxy S2 user and that's ok but if you need a phone that's just different and superior for signal reception then get one, you won't regret it. Plenty of unused new boxed models from the Chinese market now available from Western ebay traders or direct from the Far East. Batteries too are plentiful, if not the original manufacturer's but buy from a reputable retailer and don't expect quality from dirt cheap ones, pay a bit more and enjoy the reliability. Well worth having one at decent prices.

  • Just bought one of these off eBay for 99p plus 5.50 shipping. The sc version, mint and in the box, with sealed manuals and belt clip. An absolute bargain. Got it for my mum, she loves it. I think I may get myself one, may even start collecting retro Ericsson, they made great phones prior to Sony.

  • An excellent phone without a doubt. Nowadays most if not all phones have built in antennas on the basis that most subscribers will be in cities or urban areas where there'll be sufficient coverage. However this isn't the case out in the countryside where signals can be hard to receive and if an emergency occurs no signal means no help! The 320s has an external aerial plus the option to connect to a vehicle mounted phone antenna. If for no other reason it's worth having one in the car as an emergency phone. They won't be around for ever and once they've gone they've gone!

  • Loved it!

  • Probably the best mobile phone ever made !!! Quality feel, audio is superb, holds onto the signal better than most and is easy to use. Battery life also very good. The Mercedes of mobiles.

  • i had this phone till now.. even i have 2 pcs new as collection

  • It was my first real phone! The best design ever, even the antenae. :)

  • yes indeed, one of the best phones ever! i also owned one about 7-8 years ago when was very popular and expensive :)

  • i had this phone for 18 months, great phone... after that i change phones every 3 months...

  • Wonderful phone, the best I have ever had. Now I have a BlackBerry, but still I think about R320 (altlantic blue color). Yes, yes, the most stylish phone in the world. Made in Sweden of course.

  • I stay in dubai do u know any place I can get this or is anyone interested in selling it to me

  • best materials that ever made

  • Where have you bought it now and how much? I really like to have one. Thanks!

  • A very good Telephone, one of the best in my opinion. Really best Quality, made in Sweden! Not China, like many Telephone today

  • I got this BRICK today. Excelent phone!

  • A wonderful phone, one of my favorites ever... very slim for the time, elegant and beautiful, had two, one got broken because I messed around with it and the other is still working, good as new, sometimes I use it again, still one of the best mobiles around, very impressive...

  • im using that phone since 2002.. the best durable phone you will get in the planet :).. and the battery..no words :) it has a cool display colour :D

  • Pros: - slim & professional design - nice colored plastic case (minor scratches will not deter its looks compared to painted cases) - ultra slim battery (fits nicely in your wallet) - calendar that can be viewed by day, week or month. - voice memo for 90 sec (has a separate button in activating the voice memo, very convenient!) - clear and crisp mic and speaker - voice dialing - voice answering - nice programmable shortcut keys ie prolong press of ◄ = write new msg prolong press of ► = phonebook - can easily silent the phone while ringing (useful when you forget to put in silent mode while in a meeting) just press c while ringing - basic organizer: alarm, calculator etc - alarm activates even when phone is turned off (saves power) - IR (can be used to send contacts) - can be used as modem (via IR) - Speed dialing (single prolong press of buttons 1 or 2-9) Entertaining games (tetris, solitaire) - east to vies status screen (sliding the button on the left side displays the status of your phone which shows you the profile, the battery life in hours (not bars), alarms, date, time etc. - bright but soft green backlight (does not strain the eyes even viewed in the dark) - WAP (to check email, but not browsing) Cons - slow keypad (not ideal for chat) - only 99 phonebook memory - limited ringtone and msg tone Conclusion This is a great phone for its price and feature. Its technology, features and convenience cannot be compared to similar phones of its time like the nokia 6210. The phone's features can still be used even up to todays technology. I personally preferred this phone than any low end mobile phone in the market. If you still use this phone today, the only thing that you missed is the the colored screen, the polyphonic and the GPRS. But considering that this phone is released in the year 2000, it makes this model one heck of a phone.

  • i have some problem with this phone, the signal reception getting worst in some area comparing with my other phone. do you have any solution for this, or may be with the same problem??

  • hii is this phone once a ericsson flags ship?

  • Yeah... I've just got this phone today... Just Handset and charger... It seems the battery is not original, but it's ok. Just make me fly back to a few years ago... Let's see how the people look at me when I use this phone beside my Xperia X1...

  • a handsome mobile for the business exec. this is my 8th phone.

  • what a great phone use to be! I agree, Ericsson should re-produce a similar phone, based on this design, and with antena included.

  • This was my 5th Ericsson phone. I've had the A1018, the A2618, the R310sc, the T68 and this. I bought this from a colleague (2nd hand) and I did not have any problems with it at all. It was full-sized, slim and elegant (I had a blue one). One of the best made phones ever. Too bad I lost it when I was commuting (it fell out of my pocket)... Ericsson needs to go back to this design... Just make it in color, with a camera and flash, mp3 capability with expandable memory and bluetooth connectivity... And please leave the antenna. It looks way cooler with it!

  • How can I own this phone and what's the cost. Or is this some type of free commerical test pilot giveup.

  • hi could anyone can help me i am l am looking for the software for R320 erickson please let me know where to download

  • Great phone. I used it for about 500h and still it was working great.

  • This is one of the best mobile phones, in a long time. Our entire company used this phone. If only Ericsson can improve on this model. I have been through a range of manufacturers and models, over 25. Nothing like R320.

  • i bought it in 2002...still working perfectly (with battery for T28 :) great phone in every way...i bought more then six phones in this past years but this one, the first one, is perfect...better then my 3310 and 3410...and 6230, M65 and of course GA628 :) just one problem i have with it, i can't find original battery for phone so i use one for T28 and it's always reporting (when i am charging battery) that this is unknown battery and it charges it half >> full and in the same way it goes down full >> half >> empty...only way to fix it is to find original battery...but everything else is just perfect. I am so sorry for Ericsson, i wish they could separate from Sony and come back to us as before... :(

  • hello I used this phone for years and i was satisfied about the functions and the games. After it was stolen i bought a second one, which i used one year. after two months of non-using the antenna function was very bad. It doesn't receive 1800 Mhz providers and it does release the connection with 900 Mhz providers. I don't know what is the problem. Has someone a suggestion?

  • Just what I've been looking for. A site that I can make a comment about the Erricson R320. I have two Ericsson R320's for four years now and they are a fantastic phone. Great design. Very thin at the time of release, and elegant not gimicky. Good solid feel and nice colour. Can't understand why top width of phone is slightly less than bottom width though, 1-2mm. I'm being picky but I subscribe to symetrical design. You won't notice though unless you get a ruler out. Known to have problems with power amp as did one of mine, but I had it fixed recently and now holds charge. Talk time is typically 2.5 hours and reception is terific as is sound clarity. So many useful fetures even by todays standards. Hardly ever see used ones for sale so people must keep them, but when they do come up they don't sell! Maybe they don't have enough up to date features for todays buyers. If they could re-release this phone without the antenna protrusion, a camera. bluetooth, and it wasn't associated with Sony, I would certainly buy one. In the meantime I am running a Siemens SK65 which is another innovatively designed phone built to last but is chuncky due to folding qwerty keyboard. Most annoying feature is backlighting goes off after 15 seconds if no buttons are depressed and can't reset to stay on. If it is possible to change, please someone let me know. Also NEC N343i is worth a look. Have one and it has so many great features in such a small thin phone. Hope this may help someone and have a great day.

  • Buttplug on top included.

  • May i know, how do i save a new number to my phone's memory instead of card's memory?

  • Im Buying One Tommoro Brand New Boxed For Only 14.99 Can't Wait My Dream Phone Back In The Days

  • Yes, the R320 is truly the Godfather of the mobile phone world.. I always wanted this phone, but alas, no GSM 1900.. So i can't use it here in Canada... even if i could find it. oh how i miss the original Ericssons.

  • love of my life ! the gadfather of all mobile phones around the world ! THE BEST EVER !

  • I have had this phone for around 4 years now. Excelent phone with very good performance. The only problem I have had is that the backlit has stoped working hence the LCD screen and the keypad not useable at night. Can somebody tell me if this is repairable.

  • the coolest ever made ! i love it !

  • I have had this phone for almost 4 years!!! I have nevr hd any trouble with it. Once i even put it into a big glass of beer....it started vibrating and after a couple of hours when it dried of it worked normal.Fantastic phone. It is very very hard to ruin this cell phone! Ericsson rules!!!!!!

  • I had this phone for over two years and I really think it deserves a review from me. VERY EASY TO USE!!! (easier than nokia or other new phones). Pretty good battery life (in two years- it dropped from 4days to 2-3days). VERY STURDY!!! Threw it as hard as I could against a cast iron radiator (I thought I will gather the parts from alover the place), not a thing, so I did it again and cracked its display- THE PHONE STILL WORKS PERFECTLY (aside the fact that you can't see what's on) Its down-size: little longer than fit my pocket, not so fast software. I now have a t610 and I kind'a regret my old R320s. love ya!

  • You would say it's too large and too slow... Maybe it is true..but it is very simple, user friendly and also very durable and reliable...I have had it for 3 and a half years! Very good mobile however!

  • R320 is better than R520. Slimmer! The R520 is phat!!! and the arrow keys look like a monkey's face! Features still OK by today's standards, about equivalent to today's high-end Nokia minus the crap of course. Nokia's full of crap. Battery life is bad by today's standards. IR protocol is a bit weird, some interoperability problems with PalmOS devices... Best features is the SIZE! It's so refreshing to grasp a full size phone! Good to take a break from small micro phones once in a while... This is teh reason I'm keeping it.

  • Hello, I want to exchange my Motorola V.2288 for an Ericcson R320. But the Display of the Ericsson is missing a line, looks kinda shitty that way, but i love the rest! Another problem is: The phone does not seem to connect to the network (CONNEX Romania) ,Matei, the guy i want to make the exchange tryes to fix that but he hasent had much luck yet! Can annybody give me a hint?! what could be wrong?

  • Not so fast phone, but I think, its design is very very smart. battery is OK - try ultraslim (650). useful calendar. you can see that this is a hi-end phone. Ive got it for 2 years and I didnt find anything bad (maybe some details). and you cant compare it with som well-known-cheap-shitty-mobile-phones like for ex. Nokia 3310, Siemens C35... if there is a new model of this phone, Im sure Ill buy it. And somebody wrote here that R320 has a weak vibration - this phone wasnt made for sex :-))))

  • well, it's nice phone. I've bought it with 5 euros from the company i work. But there is a stupid system for the sim card.

  • Best phone! Better than the latest Nokias.

  • I have bought 3 R320, The 1st one I lost it. 2nd one I bought to replace my lost phone. unfortunately it has bad receiption. get it back to shopper but they do not help at all to repair since they have no other stock to replace R320 for me. I could not get refund for buying junk ericson from them. I did not complaint to the consumer bodies because the shop owner is my friend's friend. Ericson gives no support on after sales- not in Tawau. Because I love so much to use this model I bought another one but still it gives problem. keypad can only access the 1st 3 menus and jammed on the other 4 manues. If only you guys can support me to repair for my R320 I will still buy Ericson phone.

  • I bougt it for $50 external kbd. and batt. replacement included. Works fine especially I like the accepted calls list, so nobody cand bug me when I don't want. Just uploaded my address list from my palm with minimum hassle via IR. For this price is just fine. People... Try to live good & cheapo.

  • Hi, i am an Ericsson user why is it dat R320 keep hanging for a long period of time ? How do i get to know the colour features e.g changing the colour to atlantic blue, stone purple. Why is there no funky ringtones ?

  • I want to know how to do for a new melody installation with my R320 Ericsson .

  • Can you send cell phone type can be used in hazardous area (oil or gas explosion proof).

  • That it's on CD ( help?, technik dokumentacion?).

  • A cracking phone i'm on my 3rd one as i keep breaking due to my work

  • Mandrake - kopeue i az sum ot Bulgaria The phone is DA BEST

  • I've bought the phone for only...30$(used of course), comparing with Nokia 6210 the menu it's a little occured, and it is a pitty that it has so less ringtones but overall for this price it's a very good phone. Only the weak battery could be a problem.

  • this is god phone.....can i upgrade my sms character from 160 to ....? but how....anybody can help me please?

  • this phone rulz!anyone who think that it sux-duhaite go pod voda dokato izsahne!

  • I never thought I'd come back here to actually WRITE something about R320. Up till now, I've only read other opinions about it, but never had my own, 'cause I didn't have the my own phone, I had only friends with this type of mobile phone. But now things changed: I'm the proud owner of an R320s. It's green-blue, and it's plain FANTASTIC. Here in Romania it's available for a mere 50 euros, (second hand or refurbished of course). But I'm totally content with its business features, the IR port, and all it has. I've got it with an ultra slim LiPolymer battery, with 3 days stand by and about 2,6 h talk time(these are my tested times, not what the phone actually reports...), considering that the phone is older than 1 year. It's just what I've always wanted, a bleeding cheap, yet business orientated phone(or should I say PDA, 'cause it's what I truly consider it to be, with that wonderful calendar feature)...:) So, don't get any ideas about the size or weight of it, it's damn lite and slim; true , it's a bit long especially to that antenna of his, but sincerely, i don't mind. The WAP works juuuust fine, anyway, a lot better than the nokia 6210, which keeps returning error message(using the same sim card and settings of course). What you(the potential buyer) should bare in mind is: the slow software(wich becomes even slower or freezes in cold temperature(-5 and donwards)). There are mainly only advantages on buying this phone, as far as I'm concerned...so, thank you Ericsson.

  • This phone sucks

  • the phone is too suck....

  • The phone is powerful in many cases where the network was poor I was able to call.Connection to internet is my problem noinfrared facilities& slow connection through the the cable modem.

  • It's slow! Software problems! My R320 has blocked and I can't make it work! Good batery!

  • how much is R320?

  • I've recently bought it for 89$ (new, VAT included). It was the only smart choice: ridiculously cheap but full of business features I needed. That is, good calendar with day, week and month, built-in infrared modem to connect my notebook even in the middle of the forest, pre-defined profiles for various circumstances (from silent to outdoors), calendar/PIM synchronisation with MS Outlook. WAP is there but it's a kind of useless for regular browsing but it's good to check your web-based e-mail account when in emergency without laptop on you. All the drawbacks mentioned by other reviewers are either irelevant for me or correctable: I don't care about SMS so the slow keypad is not a problem and if I suddenly become an SMS addict I can buy a chatboard; the default ultraslim LiPolymer battery lasts only 55h in standby, but if you want more you can get for 22$ a high capacity 1500mAh battery that lasts 5 days. Other things I like about this phone: the clock alarm works even if the phone is turned off (that means you can save battery time), great display quality, the battery is smart enough to show you on the display the precise time remaining before you need to recharge, and the thinness of the phone which makes more elegant than it looks in pictures. What I don't like is the antenna but I can live with it (but perhaps, the good reception quality may have something to do with it)

  • it's a beautiful phone especially if you are tired of seeing nokia phones like here in the philippines. but the software is slow. but i make really great use of the calendar and the standby & talktimes displayed on the phone.

  • ericsson is the best phone fuck the nokia 6210

  • Hi all! I`ve recently achieved this beauty! Ericsson leads the world of communication! If you have questions about this phone and you want secret codes and many more.... just write to me!!! bye :)

  • any body can tell me how to change contrast rate display for R320s, thank you !

  • it sucks!software problem very often & it`s very sensible.don`t do it!

  • Good...Good... Good !!!

  • i have been using an R320 for a year now, and it's been a really cool experience... i couldn't exchange it for another phone. in fact, i tried to sell it in order to buy one of the latest nokia models, but after a day, i missed my ericsson... i sold my new nokia phone so i could buy back my R320. Ericsson ROCKS!!! More power

  • Very well thought out features. Very good for intelligent power users. Nokias are for idiots who require dumbed-down user interface. My only real complaint is the slowness; they should've used a faster processor. Calendar is excellent. Games are the best; solitaire has good replay value, unlike the stupid Nokia games.

  • I currently have an A2618s and I don`t like him any more! I want an upgrade to R320s. What do you think? read the next message...

  • Please send me sugestions. What should I buy? Ericsson T28s or R320s? Please hurry!!! Va rog sa-mi trimite-ti sugestii. Ce sa cumpar? un T28s sau un R320s? Urgent va rog!! Thanks/Multumesc

  • R320=SUPER Mobil Phone.Bravo Ericsson

  • this is cool mobile phone!

  • one question... software of R380 on R320.... what can you say about it?

  • This awful slow-motion machine makes me go crazy whatever I intend to do with it!

  • HY, my name is razvan and i have a ericsson r320s and it.s good but i want to now some secret code and secret function if you now about this modell. so if you can give me this information ? kind regards rt

  • this hand set is very good, from its value and ability. Poor, it moves slower if we scroll it fast. And the battery has an indicator, but not too close, about 20 - 80 %. Other features, OK!

  • I by this phone in november,2001. You never find a mobile phone so chep, and with so many futures. But my opinion: the wap is a joke. When can I use the wap? Whit 0.1 $/minutes? I dont think so. I want GPRS, please.

  • Nice phone state of the art... slim phone, nice model but not for girls.. it looks good on me because it reflects my personality and above all the price in indonesia is very cheap only about 80 USD but good features so if you are looking for a cheap phone but high technology buy R320. you won't regret it

  • extraordinar perfect

  • Atentie la sigiliul de sub antena!!!Daca tragi tare antena iesse si acolo trebuie sa fie un sigiliu intact!!!

  • it very well!i like it,his

  • Very cool phone, I like it!

  • cool, i have one

  • gooooooooood

  • best phone

  • very nice

  • 8 9 10

  • THis is a utility machine but I am afraid that it hangs.

  • The best of the best.........It`s a incredibile phone man!I really like it.Is a complete phone.......Just buy it!You don`t have regrets......

  • mishto telefonu'!!!

  • Hi. I have a R320. Does anyone know why my menu is sooo. slow? Is there anything i can do to make it faster? I had a T20 before (the same interface) but it seemed faster!

  • Super mishto telefonul!!!

  • I held one in my hand. Very thin indeed (i believe it's like a T28) but it's very hard to use it because it's too wide and to long.

  • Trimitemi informatii

  • Taste is very relative. But most people in the ad agency who've seen and held my R320 are amazed at the sophisticated look and the professional "feel" of it. The R320 makes me look very sharp!

  • i love ericsson but this one really sucks. come on guys, look at it!!!

  • ce e ma cu placinta asta?

  • Nobody does it better.Simply the best!

  • this phone is shit

  • koje baterije koristi fabricki model? Its Li-Ion 850mAh battery. It makes R320 look as if it has a backpack. For those who don't like this phone: Most peolple who don't like ericssons don't like them because they just dont know features of their phones. They didn't read manuals and expect everything to be intuitive. Ericssons conrols are lot smarter than for example nokia ones, you just have to know those smart bits.

  • koje baterije koristi fabricki model?

  • batery oprema

  • I don't like it. Large, heavy, weak vibrations, distorted sound. Wap is indeed just an expensive joke and i never used the IR or the Calendar. If anyone can offer a T28s or T29s for change i'd pay the difference in money. Oh, and if you need all the fancy features plus HSCSD, save some money and go for Nokia's 6210

  • Great features for the price (at least here in Romania), especially the fast WAP browser and the IR port. The menu is too slow and the design is at least curios. I would have bought it instead of the T28 if it was just a little bit shorter. This is certainly not a phone to hold in your jeans' pocket.

  • Just right!!! has everything which i want, wouldve been nce were a bit smaller in length

  • why does a lovly little phone like the r320 only hold 99 numbers, I have more inchs on my waist than that!!. I have a ti250 tri-band orange motorola which is a joke, poor software, poor screen, in fact an awfull shit screen, and the most homosexual ringtones known to man ,the only bonus being 400 names&number storeage. Do Ericsson have a phone with a decent memory? I once owned a 237 Ericsson and it was a great little phone . do I have to buy a 7110 nokia? your help please

  • This is Perfect Mobile Phone, but....could you tell me how to know software version on this phone, may be I need to upgrade !! Please send to my e-mail, ok ?!

  • A classic phone to own. Rugged yet classy. Masculine, sublime, intelligent, and slim. It's not perfect (it's slow) but it makes anyone look smart even when 3-G phones appear 5 years from now. It's made for down to earth humans.

  • perfect

  • I just bought my new phone last week. My previous phones were all Nokias. 6150,3210, and 3310. I was not that satisfied with these phones. One of them, the 3310 broke after 3 weeks. I was so frustrated of buying Nokia phones. I tried out the R320. I've heard a lot from this phone, and so far, I am very satisfied with it. The WAP browser was fast although when I'm composing long SMS messages, the phone slows down. But I've experienced it in many phones. So over-all, it's a well built phone. I give Ericsson a thumbs up. Keep up the good work guys, and I wish I could find more accessories for my new phone here in the Philippines. Thanks!!! :-

  • try reading the opinions page.

  • I hate myself for making the decision to buy this phone. 1. The keypad is so damn slow 2. Phonebook is difficult to access and to use. 3. The big screen can only hold 3 lines of names instead the-should-have 5 lines. 4. You can't view the phone numbers directly but have to wait for the phone to display it to you. Stupid design, eh? Above all, don't even think of buying this phone. Go get Siemens or Nokia. And to Ericsson: fix that slow keypad, will ya?

  • Not bad, except for a (very) slow keypad response and faint ringing.
