Hi, I'm using a garmin asus m10 too. I disappointed about Wi-Fi connection because it worked well for a couple of days and than I couldn't connect to any wireless network. The only solution is soft reset, it is annoying to this everytime. I do not change any options, it just stops working.

OS: Windows 6.5.3... no more development on software and applications front.. They are concentrating more on v.7 Power: Battery exhausting quickly GSM Signal Reception: Week compared with other phones. Display: supports 65k colors (bt, keep in mind its resolution....800x480) Always hangs in the middle.. Perhaps, it may takes a few more months to fine tune the OS to overcome these glitches. I had tried several times to update the phone software from Garmin's official link, but, it fails always... Sd Card slot placed underneath the battery. No FM Radio No Front camera and video calling... A lot of heat generating from the handset even if we run multimedia for a few mnts... To conclude my comments, those who wants to flaunt a smart mobile, look for something else/make. But, if you are looking for a nice gps capable handset, then only look for this....!

Hi Imho, I had the same issue. after 10 times wrong password, this will warn and reset the phone. Once reset, this will automatically install the OS. But ALL DATA will be erased from Phone and will corrupt the data from SD card also. I would suggest, take out the memory card and try to reset. Unfortunately the Default MAP will also be erased. I am facing problem to install it back the MAP from myGarmin account. Incase you find how to install the preloaded MAP back in the phone, please let me know. [email protected]

I have been using the Garmin Asus M10 for a few months now. It works fine most of the time. However, when I am using it to navigate a long journey after about 1.5 to 2 hours the software stops. The four windows coloured circles rotate for a few minutes and then stop. Disconecting the battery is the only way to recovery. I sent my original phone back to Garmin who replaced it, but the new phone has done the same. Is this a common fault with these ohones?

hi guys, after I bought my M10 and I looked at the MEMORY widget I found that it was reported only 303.99MB for Storage and 356.26MB for PROGRAM. Also, I installed a demo version of SKTools and it shows the CPU Clock speed as 400. Is this a mistake or the specs are different from what garmin says? regards, denisr

Changing the language on windows mobile is the same as changing the language of windows on your pc. You install dutch windows on your pc and then want to change it to english, you have to reinstall the os with the right language (i.e. english).

I don't know WHAT you're talking about, I use my google maps with navigation every day. It's very good (better than vz navigator) and allows for satellite and street view WHILE navigating. It's compatible with tower triangulation and the Sirf Star chip in my phone. I've been using m10 for a few months now, and I spotted some mal-functions in this phone: 1. While making a call, I got a black screen when exit from screen-off mode and the screen was no response. 2. Sms alert not activated untill I wake the phone from sleep mode. 3. Many times, the "call note" would just appear without any relevant gesture. It's kind of annoyance. 4. The screen lock activated immediately onced I pressed the dial pad. Not user friendly. 5. There's certainly some bugs in the phone function. I just couldn't get a smooth operation out of it. I think this should be the last WM phone for me, and most probably the last Asus phone for me too. Anyway, still hope they can update their firm ware to solve all those bugs problems. Is m10 worth a recommendation? I would say if you are looking for good navigator phone, go for it; you have to prepare to sacrifice a piece of user friendly plus phone device though. Design: 7 (- iphone copied) Features: 7 (satisfactory specs) Performance: 6 (would be lower if w/o Garmin GPS)

I don't think Garmin map sucks! Actually, its the other way around. Garmin maps are better and precise than google maps or nokia maps. i've download nokia maps but the maps are way behind garmin! I think that those who complaints about garmin never used it before. Garmin actually saved in getting lost everytime i needed it. It could also save ur life!!

the connection is quite fast with the GPS. you can also use google map as navigation, but needs wifi or gprs connection to use. the map update is available in Garmin website and is free. i tried Agis map came with P535 and i found it better than Garmin map bcos it has more features on the map and easier to use also.

Hands on M10 for 3 months now. Below is my personal comment from a user's pov. Cons: 1. the keyboard lack of a button to numeric keys 2. the auto numeric keypad is not seamlessly integrated with the Garmin navigation software 3. soft-button function keys (eg. zoom button, etc) are not available on the bottom-bar 4. the up-down arrow scrolling buttons are not available in most of the screens. why??? 5. certain applications are not cater for local use!! 6. Garmin navigation software is very un-unser-friendly. new user will get lost while trying to search for a relative function 7. I missed a few calls due to call pick up function not working!! 8. Today page not viewable in horizontal screen 9. no function to switch off auto-on of GPS while phone reseted 10. the map sets: 2010.10 & 2010.20(latest) create duplicate POIs and points descriptions can't show up 11. advanced users who have tried other GPS software would probably not want a M10 as navigator 12. overall software not intuitive, not user-friendly 13. phone unlock bar placed at the wrong location 14. where is the configuration utility? Summarize the cons: M10's software is a messy design whereby fragments of applications are not seamlessly integrated with one another. The bottom-bar is not fully utilized and clearly shows a lack of effort of the software developer. This is more like a beta version, but if updates are available, then it will be much appreciated. Pros: 1. very value-for-money with so much functions!! 2. Summarize the pros: Value for money with its impressive specifications. Overall functions are moderately fast and doesn't require to a reset that often. I hope ASUS(or Garmin) could put more effort in developing their mobile software on this phone. Even though there's a price and quality relationship concern, a lazily-developed product may brings down a company's competitiveness.

hi hi is the gps free for life? if got new roads in singapore, upgrade map is free? how fast is the connecting speed? my omnia2 varies. lets say if i come out of the car park it will take hoe long to connect to lead me to my destination or it will connect immediately just like the car garmin navigator? thanks..

1) The Camera does not have autofocus fuction. 2)The close-up photo taking is not very clear; no close-up fuction. so it is difficulut to take clear picture of documents for reading. no flash 3)The navigation on the map is good, response to GPS is fast. 4)Speacker is clear. 5)

Its really a very helpfull device for every king of a purpose. its gps is really awsome i like that voice navigation. the sound and the picture quality is really great and i am damn sure that it is much far better then n900 of nokia becasuse it dosent have the sliding problems and the after sales service is also very good they people are very helpful in every terms.

no there is no charges of using gps or lbs sevice on garmin asus m10 but if you wanna upgreade the maps of any other ountry so that you have to buy the maps of that perticuller country. thanks........

Earlier i used so many smart fones including iphone, but i never ever experienced comfort like this. Generally smart phones with these many features fail in sustained battery back up. Thank you, JED for telling me how to activate the hand recognition function. I have been using the phone for a coupled of days. Things that I notice and the functions tried: a) The Alarm - the phone must be siwtched 'ON' at all times. b) The camera - produce good pictures in only good daylight c) The screen - see nothing under the sun d) Nsvigation - show enough details in Singapore road e) The handset - Volume and sound are very clear f) No autofocu, no extra camera len, not much games h) Play certain AVI files (not all) i) PDF reader - Good j) Supported Java file format How do we optimise the use of this phone and to provide feedback to Garmin Asus to improved the M10. i) How to use the GPS to receive radio stations? ii) Where to download classic games for free to be play on the M10, eg Reversi? iii) How to add/update the video codec to support RMVB, DAT and VOB file types? I am using this phone from almost a month. It is quite interesting a phone. Though the GPS is not up to the Indian roads which changes every second day, it is fun to cruise with it. Making calls might look a bit confusing in the beginning, but with practice it becomes a second behavior. I am bowled over by the stunning looks and smooth touch screen. I'd rate this phone a 8/10

I have this M10 few days ago, this a very excellent phone, except for few comments. 1.) I have problem with the camera software. touch screen positions are sometimes off/away from its on-screen buttons by the worst 15mm. I hope they have patch to cure this bug. 2.) The camera software dun have date & time stamp. 3.) The on screen keyboard doesn't provide gesture style of typing like the earlier versions had. It also doesn't have Keypad or T9 NumberPad keyboard layout. 4.) The on screen keyboard doesn't predict words you are typing. 5.) The phone doesn't provide hot-swat on the microSD Card. Meaning you have to take out your battery each time you wish to take the memory card and plug in into your PC.

@hime, if GPS is important to you, get the m10. all else, get the iphone. i just switched from iphone to the m10 2 days and personally,i feel that the touch screen experience is not as good (it lags) and text message doesnt have the text prediction which makes iphone a breeze to use. But i must stress that the GPS is really cool, beats iphone's google map anytime.

I love the GPS function... still trying out this phone.... By the way, my M10 screen will go off after about 1 min, after which I need to press the power key to turn on the screen, by touching the screen, send key, start menu key and end key will not get back the screen... Is this normal? Can anyone share :)

I live in Singapore and just bought this phone. Very nice phone, the camera can actually record up to 800x480 @ 24FPS or 640X480@30FPS instead of the advertised 650x480@24FPS. Take note.

Are you sure? Nokia Ovi Map is better than Garmin's Map? i doubt so. i have been using Garmin and it is still the best in terms of navigation.

I have personnally tried the phone. It is running on 600Mhz processor with L2 cache. The only phone in the market that has a l2 cache cpu processor. definitely it will not lag like other brands.

I saw this phone last night, at a presentation the Garmin representative of Saudi Arabia, had introducing a range of Garmin products and the M10 was one of these products. It look really nice and sleek. It will be available in Saudi in about six weeks, and it will be supplied with a Saudi Arabian desert maps. The bundle will be priced at around $500. Nokia has also arm 11 600mhz processor in n900 but it is very fast. I think it is faster than I phone 3GS With the same processor. By the way 4gb memory is not much if u compare to this. Nokias newest smart phones have 32gb inner storage and a place to 16gb memorucard.

CPU complaining

Despite being the CPU being only 600mhz, the phone is still fast. It's not using the same architecture as the Qualcomm 7201A CPU you saw in last generation Windows Mobile Phones, but an ARM Cortex based CPU similar to the Snapdragon. It has the same exact specs as the Snapdragon, the only difference is that it's clocked a little slower, but it's still leagues faster than last generation phones. Even faster the the Iphone 3GS and on par with the N900.

Ram does not make your phone faster. If you have ram then it means you can run more programs but your processor is the one that is working those programs so even if u have shizloads of ram then it still might run slow. ALSO, my 600 mhz processor w/graphics accelerator in nokia n900 runs my phone just as fast, if not faster, than a 1ghz processor in nexus one
