Download rom version 23081. it is 6.5.3 and is quite better with threaded SMS and CPU frequency selection to half(208 MHz) on slighly overclocking provision.There after everything works including TV. Put the image in sd card and power on with certain keys-pressed.

Please go to settings, connectios, USB connection,see that option of USB cable is selected instead of blue toothe. please go to settings select menu , click on sync, select options of connection as USB cable.please check usb cable and USB port of your pc

i accidentally dropped my gigabyte gsmart i120 today which caused the screen to crack. however i can still managed to receive incoming calls. but the main problem is the phone is in the lock mode. so how do i unlock my phone using the keypad in order for me to be able to use it like normal despite the big crack touchscreen which looks like a giant spider web on it. pls help TQ

ok it is now around 8 months since i am using this phone if you have read my previous posts... I have upgraded the rom to WM 6.5 beta in Thai(changed to English) am useing the SBP Menu. i dont thing i need anything more from the phone in this price range. the only good thing that could have happened would be that it could have been a little thinner by compromizing the TV tuner maybe (never used the TV thing)

i am using 6.5 because the dialing in 6.5 is very efficient. it starts to inclusive search as soon as i type while 6.1 does not use the abc search mode when i type on the keypad.

Hi, I am using i120. Excellent phone. I have done all the research on this. Finding excellent. Also tried 6.5. But as the display is small, 6.5 is not convenient. using 6.1 now. Pls remember, this phone has analog tuner for TV. Hence digital antenna will not work perfectly (bought digital antenna and I am getting only doordharshan (only one channel). But this antenna is useful for FM radio, as FM needs digital antenna. let me know anyone needs any assistance on this....balaji from chennai

Well you dont lock the phone with the Lock/Unlock on Today Screen.. If possible remove the unlock option using the Today Screen Editor.. For locking/unlocking the phone, you can use Switch On/Off button.. Just Press it like a Single click.. The screen will get switched off and acts like its locked.. Press it again to switch the screen On.. But the problem is the screen will get On if you get any Msg or call.. that time its a bit problem..

My handset was bought in Malaysia as a present from my friend. The phone was working with my BSNL and Bharti Airtel numbers. The only thing is i couldnt dial or send msgs since the screen was locked and i couldnt unlock it the normal/usual way. Eventually, I did a system reset by pressing the flag and ok key together while switching on the device. But now, the phone hangs at 'align screen' and i just cannot get past that. What could possibly be wrong? Is there any way it can be rectified? Thanx

HI. I am using the same phone currently and I am as curious about WM 6.5 as you are. After doing some research and after conderable amount of browsing, I found out a Worth link for WM 6.5. BUT LET ME TELL YOU THIS IS A BETA VERSION AND HAS SOME BUGS. Above link is the page where you will find some problems about beta versions. This is the link from where you can download WM6.5 BETA3. HOwever I recommend wait for the final version and if you insist on tring out, make sure you have backed up your data and settings by inbuilt software like POCKET GHOST or any external software

But during this process upgraded the Rom to 6.5 beta and am very happy. windows beta has a cpu profile function with a power saving mode. also dialing is fantastic - for someone who was asking about using the alpha search while entering the number. 6.5 does it fantastically. All in all upgrade is highly recomended. only take care that the upgrade that is available on the net is windows 6.5 beta upgrade for i120 in Thai language. though you can change to english once the phone starts.

Ive been using it for a month maybe. the phone is fantastic. for the price range - got it for Rs. 5500 (free sd card 2gb). there seems to be a little problem with network. the phone is a little less sensitive then the other one i have. though there is no problem if the signal is good. Battery is good, i get around 2.5 days of standby with the smaller battery (you get two batteries with the phone) i am contemplating trying a rom upgrade to windows 6.5. still it is value for money - never used the TV thing though tried it and works ok, never used the FM radio. i would gladly have sacrificed the tv tuner and fm for a thinner piece still all in all it is a great piece

This phone is a mere waste of money.Battery used to be good in the beginning but after 15 days of use they do not hold a charge for more than 2-3 hrs on standby.The phone also does have signal problem, unable to catch tower in low signal areas.Same with the FM radio to much of hissing when using the phone indoor,sometimes not able to catch stations.It just a horrible phone,there is a seller from Ebay "Bombay Mall" who is selling this phone and dont fall into the trap and buy this phone.I have a mail from gigabyte saying they are not selling this phone in inida and hence we would not gat any support from the company.Spare battery is not available in any of the local shops in Kolkata, only option is to buy again from ebay and rediff the same seller "Bombay Mall".Basically I dont want to waste another Rs 400 rupees on this piece of junk. If any body has got new batteries froms somewhere please let me know.

Yes, use the minimal power settings, and you'll see the difference. Although the battery back up is not up to the mark but you'll see slight improvement.

Sorry i forgot to tell you how to save the battery life. Go to Start -> System -> Backlight -> Extended, make both Battery Power and External Power lowest. This will definitely works. Just try it. I am waiting for your opinion.

@ Abhishek & ashish I am using this phone from past 4-5 days, i won't say battery is very good but still it does hold charge for a day or so. Let me use it for some more time & i'll update battery situation. Well, on the whole i would say its an ordinary phone, looks fine on top but is very thick (20mm). Pretty stable i would say & sound quality is above average.

Plz help me with wifi... i want to use internet on my i120 with wifi connectivity, it connects to the wifi but when i open Internet Explorer & try to open a site it takes me to a Cisco SESM PDA Application page & asks for a user name & password. Just bought one form ebay India on 18th June.The phone is not holding charge with either of the batteries.FM reciever cant detect signals, in Kol or Mumbai.Sometimes when you make a call and end, the network goes for a while.This is a piece of junk..dont buy this phone.I wonder how come the ratings are so high.I have lost rs 5,000 buying this phone..now I have to buy another phone!

DLink is providing support for Gigabyte phones in India. Go to Dlink website, get their office number in chennai & call them before you take your phone to them. Me too planning to buy it from ebay. I hope the seller is not selling all junk pieces there...

Since your phone is under warranty, you can seek replacement. Write to them stating clearly all the problems you are facing with the phone and ask for a replacement. If they do not respond in 15 days, approach the Consumer forum in Chennai and lodge a formal complaint by attaching the copy of the Bill, warranty card and a copy of your complaint. Don't give up because its your money and you should not end up with a defective product.

The standby time of 125 hrs is actually very low compared to other mobiles in this category. This is precisely the reason why they are throwing in a spare battery. What you can try is to discharge the battery completely and then charge (i.e. wait for the battery indicator to be zero before charging). repeat the charge discharge cycle several times over next few days. Hopefully the battery life should improve. One more advice. never leave your phone connected to the charger when the battery is full. This reduces the battery life. Normally people tend to charge the batteries overnight. But the modern phones need only 2-3 hours for charging the batteries.

I have a list of questions to ask. Here are they: 1. I just purchased Gsmart i120 mobile in EBay on 12 July 2009. For the first week, the battery is ok. Now the battery duration is pathetic. It automatically gets heated up and within 2 hours, it drains completely without doing any work in it (Not even attending the call). I do not understand why it is behaving like this all of sudden. I have rebooted and reseted the whole and set everything in default. However, there is no improvement. 2. I am not getting TV while using the headphone as Antenna. I do not have the TV antenna included in the retail pack. Therefore, I am not getting analog TV signal even in the open air using the headphone provided. Please suggest me where I can purchase the TV antenna or tell me how I can improve my signal using head phone. 3. Is there any service center in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. If so, please provide me the address and contact number, so that I can check there for my future queries.

Rest the phone on a table , with the display facing your body & the card slot on top . now open the card slot ; using a finely focused torch/ flash light beam check the RIGHT EDGE of the card slot .You will notice a TINY plastic HOOK with a spring underneath . when you insert the miniSD card this hook is pushed down and USUALLY stays down ,so that the card also stays in place . However in my phone IT didn't stay put ;but popped back pushing the memory card outward .I just pushed the hook down with tiny screw driver ( you can try with a tooth pick ) all the way down ; and it stayed put . Then I inserted the mini sd card ;now it remained in place & I closed slot .The phone has detected the expansion memory & is working fine . Stay focused and use steady push down with a small instrument . good luck .

I too faced the same prob . Look into the card slot using a flashlight ; on the right edge of the slot ( with the mobile facing you ) you will notice a spring loaded hook like catch . This hook does not fully slide in to allow the mini sd card to settle in the slot . I used the tip of a tiny screw driver to push this hook down fully. It stayed in place ; then I inserted the Mini SD . It stayed in place & the mobile is storing my data on the card. BE CAREFUL & Don't damage . Try using the tip of the pen also.

Hi, I got the same problem with upgrade. Phone have small buttons so it is hard to press it all at the same time by your self. I press it with my friend after 20 times i tried my self, then it works. When start to upgrade do not touch nothing, you can plug it to charger. If you need something else just ask.

Hi, I had the same problem when I installed i120-V1.16.59-ENG-Indonesia-WM6.zip. I went back to Gigabytes site a few weeks later and they now have i120-V1.16.59-ENG-WM6.zip. After installing this I had the smart keyboard back. Hope this helps!

hi acctualy this phone has lots of problems:the stylus is too weak and break early the back light of key works just about 4 seconds the key design is not good because you cant work with the analoge key well battery become empty soon the camera is lower than 2 mp and doesnt work weel the tv is full noise and it doesnt work when you move and at the end me as a owner of one i120 tellyou never buy this phone.

It's not true that this phone have only 500 names in phone book. This is unlimited because they have a outlook. Same is for call log....Unlimited incoming, outgoing, missed and dialed calls.

Hi. I have found the image quality to be ok compared to my friends Sony phone (not sure what model but its quite new) Take a look at some of the pictures taken with this phone. Taking photos at night is not as good compared to some of the Sony / Nokia phones out there but after playing with the settings you can get some quite good images. There somtimes is a bit of a delay 1-3 seconds after you hear the camera shutter sound before the image is actually taken some photos can be messed up because of this unless remember to keep the phone still. Sound quality - This was a real pluss with me. I had an XDA II before this phone and the sound was nothing compaired with some of the new MP3 phones. Now with this phone the sound is good / loaud , lacks in bass somtimes but has settings to correct this. Pros - Good PDA phone that looks like a phone Screen is good in sunlight good sound good camera Wifi, BT, TV, Radio Speed of application - good very good battery life + comes with spare battery what sucks - Wifi detection after new firmware was installed Long time for Blue tooth to find devices Keypad - could be a bit bigger Keypad software - Texting on a Nokia is much better unless you use the touch screen. TV reception could be better - Takes a long time to find stations (ok when stations are saved)

I have upgraded to the latest version .84 Turkey and am now having problems with the WIFI. The list of access points will show for a few seconds then disappear even though they are still in range and the problem never happened with the old firmware. Even connecting to Access points which have the settings saved are intermittent, I have to turn off and on the WIFI to connect. Any one else have this problem??

I am rather disappointed with the purchase of this GSmart PDA due to the following reasons: 1. Ever since I bought the phone last month, there are numerous occassions where I did not receive incoming calls. My guess is the problem may be due to the Windows OS crashed/hanged as I don't even receive "missed calls" notification. But what is the cause of the device/OS crashing so often? 2. When the phone is on speaker, the receiving end seems to be unable to hear the conversation clearly (ie. very soft at the receiving end). Why would this happen, especially when the volume is turned on full++??

Hi Donni Thank you for your enquiry about my problem, it was very kind of you. Just to test, I hard reset my i120 and again, the "Smart Keypad" was working. The first program which I need to install on my device, becuase I live in Iran, is Pocket Arabizer (I'm not sure if you're familiar with it) which consists of approximately 6 or 7 programs which install one after another automatically; of course, you can choose to install them individually. One of the programs which is installed with Pocket Arabizer in an input method which allows you to write Arabic (or Farsi) text. When Pocket Arabizer installation finished, I noticed that again the "Smart Keypad" began to malfunction. I suspected the input method to be responsibe for this. Do you think that the continuous installation of the program caused the problem? And it was just after installation of Pocket Arabizer that "Smart Keypad" malfunctioned and no other program was installed.

HI, fazard and all others, i'v made an entensive enquiry into your problem (smart input malfunctions after application installations/ or general system instability) . It appears these things (problems) MAY occur if many applications are installed directly on the phone memory within a short time or simultaneously, however after many reboots most get corrected. Its recommended you install compatible applications one after the other and at least leave 3-5 mins before installing the next. That greatly ensures stability. AND prevents you from experencing these problems. Where possible always over right applications to the memory card that is if you have one installed and applications are not primary

"Smart Keypad" was working (although not so satisfactory as you work, for example, on a Nokia keypad) when I upgraded, but when I installed some applications, it began to malfunction. I think if I hard-reset my device, it would work again, but I want to have softwares on my device and I need it to work with other applications on my device. Thank you again ...

I recently bought a g-smart i120 I upgraded the firmware and so the "Smart Keypad" showed up in the input methods ... Somehow I didn't like the Multi-tap on it so much but it was better than not to be able to write any text with its hardware keyboard. Then I installed some programs and when I wanted to use the "Smart Keypad", it simply doesn't work. When I want to write and I press a button, it's character appears with an underline but when the underline is supposed to disapear and the character is supposed to remain, the character itself disapears and so I can't write any character at all !!!! Anybody had the same issue?? Can anybody help please??

SAEED nevermind saeed, thats the way gigabyte have chosen to have things. The 1.84 for turkey is the latest version "for the english world" its just about semantics. I highly recommend you update the firmware to this version.

To DONNI: I Agree with you on the illumination case.However my biggest problem with it is actually the keyboard layout and the fact that because its seems not logically designed(the 4 way cursor keys are moved to lower right corner) and since the backlit keys turn on only when u press a hardware key and remains on for only 2 seconds, I found it very hard to dial in dark conditions.However as u put it, its just an extra. I am learning new things about the phone daily. The lastest CON is :The phone doesnt have a SIM manager, therefore you have to copy your contacts saved into your sim one by one. And about the site u mentioned to upgrade, there is no World english upgrade.

on the keyboard illumination. Since its a full touch screen pda, the keyboard is a typical "BONUS" thats why Gigabyte do not place emphasis on the it. This phone screen is brighter and vivid than the so called 16m colours in certain phones. To all those not having smart text/keyboard/input? and running english versions update your firmware to 1.84 english at the phone's website. I just purchased this i120 phone, and it would be a really great phone- except Smart Input is NOT on the phone. Its listed in the manual and on the box...but NOWHERE on the phone- so the phone is useless to me as I bought it for entering text via a keypad (like on my p910 which i LOVED!) My version has a Taiwan keypad plus english. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know what I can do to get some kind of predictive text on this phone?

TO EDISON: the difference is that the I120 is a newer version with better performance. The TV and Fm in the I120 are recording enabled but the I128 merely broadcasts, Also the I120 has about 240mb free internal memory for users while the I128 HAS ABOUT 90mb free internal memory, other features as wise talk, zip and smart input are not in I128. So basically the I120 is better than the I128

Nokia can kiss my behind.The problem with this phone is it is not available everywhere.If it was then nokia would bite the dust.Nokia N95 has nothing to even match this phone if only the 5 mpx cam and then what is the use of the 5 mpx if you got no adequate flash.N95 is going for 800 euros and this puppy is going for 500 euros.You choose but read the specification and you will understand that you are buying a nokia just for the name and nothing else.

Just to let you know guys. I am a musician and the polyphony means how many instruments it can handle simultaneously. The songs I make for the radio stations are not more than 32 polyphony!!!! There is no need for more!!!!!!!!!!! It is just a stupid marketing thing. Please tell everybody who doesn't know this!!!! Using more polyphony will end up with a chaos.
