Google Pixel 3a - User Reviews

  • pixel 3 has been discounted, its barely more expensive than this phone, you should get that one instead.

  • OnePlus 7T and Asus Zenfone 6 are better in specs, but more expensive. You get what you pay for... Except camera and software. Pixels will always have a leg up on this, except for OnePlus' OxygenOS, but it's still a skin, and not quite as visually pleasing, but it does have some very useful additions.

  • Battery life is one of the strongest points with this device. Efficient hardware with a decent sized battery makes for a minimum of 5 hours continuous screen usage under heavy load (gaming, GPS nav, etc.) Screen time is said to be similar but the XL model's bigger battery size will allow for allow for more standby time in between.

  • You'd buy a 3a for the camera & software, and OP cameras & software are comparatively worthless.

  • How is the battery life on this phone? gsmarena forgot to review this phone.

  • Nice 400$ phone. Great camera, good battery life. Little faster chipset would be great but not gonna find that on $400 cellphone in USA. Get a case or you will end up replacing screen after couple of drops. New screen is$109.

  • This is a pretty bad deal. You might as well buy a renewed OP6T or the regular OP7

  • If you are not a gamer and want use phone just for casual use but want fantastic camera, then Pixel 3a would be better..

  • Obviously One+ 7 ,with flagship Soc(SD855) ,than Google Pixel 3a with midrange Soc(SD670)

  • Pixel 3a vs Oneplus7 , which is the best phone? requirement is day to day usage. I'm not a gamer and not much camera enthusiastic .

  • look 'ere, notches contain a lot of things, selfie camera, led light, etc. anyways go for vivo, oppo or xiaomi for motorized camera.

  • Thats my only complaint!! bit applish there.... try $200 or something.

  • I hate notches its like they forgot to do the top of the screen!!

  • at least it doesnt have a darned notch, has a head phone jack, is at least 1080p and has a decent chipset. plus MP dont mean shit if it can take good photos.

  • Holy shi... 400 euros for this??? Google obviously thinks that there are enough morons. 0ld chipset, old body, old screen, old camera... no add storage, no water proof, no radio, no ir control... this is a phone from 2017.

  • the lack of expandable storage is a bad decision in android world,a lot a money for nothing and another iphone wannabe

  • Despite being the same price I went for 3a because it's made from plastic so won't break easily, has a headphone jack and taller screen, the battery life is also longer and the device won't heat up or thermal throttle. I think if you want a more compact feeling device or need a faster SoC despite the extra heat and battery drain than the Pixel 3 is worth paying a bit extra for.

  • Depends on things that are important to you, pixel 3 had auto focus on one of its front cameras, 3a doesn't, pixel 3 had an IP rating, 3a doesn't , pixel 3 has Qi charging the 3a doesn't , pixel 3 has more memory channels versus the 3a , pixel 3 100% DCI colour palette accuracy, the 3a doesn't state that ....I chose a 3a because I don't game and don't need the flagship chip, I am amazed by the camera quality coming from my galaxy s10e , only thing I don't like about the pixel is the launcher which I prefer the Samsung one UI , but I've installed CPL launcher and it works fine, apart from not allowing compatibility with Android 10 full gesture system, so you have to use the bottom navigation buttons

  • Guys, pixel 3a or pixel 3 which one to buy? If i get pixel 3 at discounted price slightly more than pixel 3a. Pixel 3 one year older but fully packed with features. What say?

  • It's excellent, especially for the Cameras sake

  • I have the Google pixel 3a and you don't know what you are talking about it's the best for the price

  • dont go for the iphone 7, honestly you can do so much better for the price.. the 3a is wayyyyyy better than it and the s10e is too.. the only main difference i can tell is that the 3a is plastic and it has an inferior design to the s10e but with the 3a you are confirmed at least 3-4 years of upcoming android version.... also the 3a's camera is the best. the iphone 7 is just too damn outdated now.. :)

  • help me choose between this iphone 7 and galaxy s10e... iphone 7 for ios security(privacy) and still gonna get 4 major ios update... s10e for the compact design latest performance speed and nice specs. and pixel 3a for heraring so much about its good camera quality and day to day usability. (points to note.. i havent tried ios yet. but i prefer it for privacy... price is a factor for me when getting phones

  • Not without telephoto and wide angle camera

  • Oh pls, we all know that google is the one that is always spying

  • What if I told you that your modern CPU in your all-made-of-glass phone is being used for spying/tracking/mining which uses 100% of your best-in-class battery in less than a day ?

  • Thank you very much!

  • Android 10 The battery life is greatly improved. It seems to last at least twice as long as before. It now has a Dark theme which is really useful for switching between Day and Night. If you pull the Notification bar down and press the settings icon (pencil) you can add a shortcut to make on/off easier than going to Settings/Display/Dark theme. The new Gestures navigation is a Like/Dislike addition. Personally, I didn't get on with it and switched to 2-button navigation (Settings/System/Gestures/System navigation). After installing Android 10 an update for the camera appeared in my Google Play app. Night Sight is now on the left in the main settings instead of being in 'More' on the right. It's early days and I'm still finding new things so sorry for any that I have missed.

  • The SoC alone don't make the whole phone, the camera unit of the Pixel 3a is one of the best on the market.

  • What are the changes, would you share with us??

  • I got used to the battery on my Pixel 3a draining rapidly, even when it was lying idle, like overnight. Last night I downloaded and installed Android 10. I finished the install at 11pm and the battery level was on 90%. When I checked the phone at 7am this morning the battery showed 88% remaining. Now my phone is perfect!

  • yes.

  • is pixel 3a worth the price? Is camera quality on par with regular pixel 3?

  • Does Xiaomi give one of the best camera on a smart phone? How about Android 10 update tomorrow (Sept. 3rd, 2019) and major updates for 3 years? ie. guaranteed up to Android 12. Since the 670 already handles all tasks without heating up or draining battery, having the fastest SoC is not the biggest value in a smartphone anymore. Connecting to LTE bands almost everywhere in the world is worth paying more for Pixel I think. BTW 3a's oleophobic coating is not as noticeable as with Gorrilla Glass and this Dragontrail version shows fingerprints right away. But I've found those coatings usually only last a few weeks and I imagine most will not notice if they use screen protectors. I'm using zero case or screen protector so far. The phone's hand feel is great with the rounded edges but this polycarbonate body has glossy smooth edges and lacks the grip of Google's previous plastic built Nexus phones which had soft touch coatings. So while it feels great it's also more likely to slip than N5 or 5x. Fingerprint scanner is lightning fast and the battery life and 18W charging times are above average. Thermals stay cool to touch during gaming (no thermal throttling) and has a much better single camera than Samsung A50 has with 3x cameras while matching performance and battery life. The price cost me about $150 more than Samsung but I think it's worth it for the camera and fast updates, however I sacrifice having a bigger and brighter display as well as microSD storage expansion.

  • Pixel 3a... "insane value for money"? 400 EUR for SD670?! Really?! Xiaomi gives you SD855 for the same price!

  • How's the oleophobic coming, is it good?

  • I have an odd thing occasionally happening. The phone has on some occasions shut down. Not necessairly shutting down in high-heat situations, just that I've come back to the phone after sitting on a table and finding it turned off. Normal boot process (holidng down the power button) does not work, you have to hold the power and volume down at the same time and it will boot after 20 seconds or so. Seems then to boot fine, and with no problems afterwards.

  • Yes if you mean does this have a yellow-tinted nighttime option. You can access that option via the pulldown menu from the top. The option is called "Night Light" and it can be scheduled to turn on and off at different times and with different intensity options.

  • Is there the so called "night display" in Pixel 3a??

  • No, this phone has a polycarbonate back.

  • I bought and kind of regret it. Phn is too highly priced in india

  • This phone has been a delight and I was a self proclaimed Google hater. No IP rating so be careful around water and it may not be "Pretty" when compared to flagship phones. Note that is is speedy, even with with a SD670 and the camera is truly amazing.

  • Is this phone slippery, like those modern glass-backs are???

  • I have been using pixel 3a for a month, pros: great camera, good UI , no pro, no cons: average battery (1 day dependes on usage) cons: limited camera option , just point and shoot category, cannot play with it, not so much feature , iphone/samsung feels quite entertaining and premium , this one feels like cheap phone but not so cheap . processor is good for 645 , better than other phones with midrange processor. can play PUBG with good settings. sound is good.

  • How is the build quality, are there any problems with the phone?? Is the FPR fast and reliable enough, compared to other phones, what do you think? Thanks!

  • @lagunakim1 I used to hate having a light blinking away when a text or email arrived. Google stated that the Ambient Display showing any new messages, mail etc. showing on the lock screen when you just lift the phone up is a better method and I agree.

  • I thoroughly dislike the fact that phone manufacturers nowadays made 2 rear cams phone as the new normal, and no good phones goes with single camera. I don't take photos very often and I don't do selfies. I have been using the same phone for 3 years and I'm thinking of getting myself a new one. But with all these "dual" and "triple" and "quad" cams I don't think I can get a phone that matches my needs that isn't like... Over €500

  • They saved on costs by removing the led notification light remember the blue light that blinks when you have an email, message etc. Gone. Bad decision. I hate it.

  • It's got shot loads of battery life and screen on-time. There's several battery test comparisons on YT about it

  • Well I loved Nexus line but Pixel seems to be dead, just not really talked about like it used too. Shame.

  • Google just want to show and satisfy itself that i am making a smartphone, they dont want to they dont need to grow in smartphone business, coz with such high prices of their smartphones they will not grow

  • Hey guys. How many hours do you get for screen on time?

  • This phone would have been my first choice if it was priced correctly in India. It costs around inr 40000, which is around 580 USD.

  • Single Camera looks beautiful and lovely! for some phones like Pixel 3 and iPhone XR , depth sensor is useless cause they can take portrait/bokeh pictures without second camera! telephoto is better than depth sensor and periscope lens is better than telephoto ! but best 2 camera are wide/standard and ultra-wide lens like in Asus Rog Phone 2 ! it looks good , Honor View20 looks good too , but it has tof camera as second camera , for 3rd camera : telephoto is good and for 4th camera i don't know! depth sensor or tof camera or dedicated macro camera or dedicated video camera or thermal camera

  • love this single camera on the back. i hate depth sensor...a telephote lens would be good but it not that necessary...

  • agree

  • On medium settings will work ok, but you get this thing for the camera right?

  • is the phone able to play heavy games? such as pubg and so?

  • Dont blame entire country for Individuals comments ...

  • Without paying too much ???

  • The main problem here is that google's main business is not building phones, so they don't care too much about them at all or their customers for that matter, microsoft did the same to their customers, when it became clear to them that their mobile OS would not become dominant like they wished, they simply left all their customers in the dark.

  • My pixel 3A work great for almost a month. Then the phone got very glitchy, and then the fingerprint scanner stopped working which apparently is a widely known issue but Google continues to ship these faulty devices. After hours and hours of trying to fix this Google wants you to do a factory reset and from reading about the issueon the few phones where it does work it is only a temporary fix. but then after that Google wants you to take it to a service center bottom line is Google is tired of sending out new phones to replace their faulty ones oh, so they will spend hours and hours of your time trying to get this known glitch fixed. I wish I had never purchased and given Google a chance on their phone. it has turned into a monster time drain and pain in the ass.

  • don't blame the pixel phone for being careless

  • Poor display protection. I already have scratches on the screen. I don't rembember ever having a smartphone with scratches on the screen.

  • This is the perfect phone for those who want a great camera, really good battery life, good storage size, and a pure Android experience without paying too much.

  • Good: camera, display, tactile (it is pleasure to hold), batter life, lightweight. Bad: not fast (I came from old iphone 6s and still notice this), slippery (I dropped it once on the asphalt and shattered the screen!!!), way too tall (notice aspect ratio) Overall, I am happy with it.

  • The display is rather dim and the speaker doesn't get very loud, I wouldn't mind too much about those minor issues but maybe you do.

  • been round web, round youtube and seems 50/50 for this phone on is it good is it bad overall. Is audio through 3.5mm jack good, how bright is screen outdoors, is it stereo video recording, how good is audio if I video recorded at concert?

  • What do you mean shitty camera? Do you even read the reviews?

  • The only thing I did not like about this phone were the bezels all around the display, just outdated.Love everything else about it though.Used for two weeks then I returned it.To be honest,I wish I would not have done that.

  • Kettle calling the pot black here. Google is also tracking users believe it or not. Spying is a big word. Who knows what Google is doing with the users data too. Don't just trust Google blindly. Google is an advert-based company to begin with.

  • Then it's your problem. I love my Pixel 3a design. You're not the standard of smartphone aesthetic, I believe lots of ppl loving this Pixel 3a design, including me.

  • Then you don't deserve a Pixel. I bet you're either Indian or Indonesian, all you can say is "This is better, that is better blahblahblah".. Specs are just number on paper, so far my experience using Pixel 3a is great. Worth every penny with the fact I can get Oneplus 6T with the price.. Never regretted the decision

  • And a shitty software, a shitty camera :D

  • This is a camera enthusiast phone and it's nothing to look at besides the camera, at that is so good that it overtakes the pixel 2 camera. I agree with you, as a deal the K20 pro is a WAY better package than this, it even takes some decent pictures.

  • I want pure android and night sight hence no Mi for me even it's cheaper with the 9T Pro (K20 Pro) version in China with 855. Trust google more that Mi software with those spy...

  • for the price ... you get at least mi 9t (sf730) or redmi k20 pro (sd855). better processor and large battery and better RAM

  • @Anonymous Another day and banging the same old drum AGAIN! Turn the record over, this one is getting boring!

  • With a case a glass back is usually not an issue, anyways I don't care if it's made of cheap plastic since you agree with that when you buy it, your choice to pay $400 for that. My problem with this phone and other pixels is the bugs, it's ridiculous that the creator of the android operating system can't figure out how to make a decently working phone at launch. The restart bug is so notorious that made news around the internet.

  • I am going to guess 83 because it seems nearly identical to my S10e.

  • Right. Because glass backed phones are so practical.

  • Too much frequent updates is not actually a good thing. It may introduce new bugs as well. I rather to have a more stable phone when frequent updates.

  • That's also true...but only upto camera. Monthly security updates doesn't make much difference.

  • @ddas The Pixel 3a gets monthly security level updates, a stunning camera, and none of the bloatware Samsung forces on it's owners.

  • Wrong!!...Samsung S10e is also a good phone almost same price as of pixel 3a xl...it offers dual sim & sd card support and also a decent compact mobile...isn't it? Pixel is very expensive and offering less with hardware quality issues which few people faced.

  • I am not finding any reason to buy this phone, google if you can't do mobile design then stop mobile release... just dump lod design.

  • Came here for your battery endurance test. Yet as usual the big phone has been reviewed and as of yet nothing for the normal sized device.

  • Seems they are still reviewing the phone. We should get those results soon.

  • Is any one facing heating issue on upfront of the glass/ screen while charging or playing or using more graphic intense apps

  • Hi GSMArena. Do you have a battery endurance figure for the Pixel 3a you could add to the spec? Thanks.

  • @johnyb Built for people who want a decent phone at a decent price. More frills, higher cost! Google got it just right.

  • Why no dual sim and no SD card?

  • Its dual sim phone ???????

  • Had to return the Pixel 3a. Really liked so much about this phone (the size especially), but the call quality was horrendous. My daughter got one too - same problems. Not only dropped calls, but some calls where either the caller couldn't hear me or vice-versa. Similar to the Pixel 3 problems you can read all over the net. Such a shame. Also, wifi kept disconnecting overnight. None of my other phones have done that with exactly same router, etc.

  • Sorry you got affected, it would be great if you let us know what was the outcome of the exchange.

  • Same camera but lacks the visual core coprocessor so the main processor has to do the image processing, the result is slower performance but still you can do 720@240.

  • Its a nice phone but mine had a major Issue - "Sleep bug when Ambient Display is off". My phone gets frozen atleast 3 to 4 times every day and i have to forecefully restart to use them. I have given it back to GOOGLE for replacement / diagnosis since its within their 14 day policy. Waiting & hope to get a new one with the fixes..

  • I wonder if the phone is capable of recording 720p@240fps? Not according to the specification, but it's the same camera as the Pixel 3?

  • plz add folder lock or individual apps lock in System UI nd also should consider dual sim capability

  • The best phone I've owned ppl it's great

  • I own one the pixel 3a and I love it not one problem going on a week it's the best phone I've owned I'm on the Android q beta 4

  • @Nikhilpatelj12 It's not 'people' but only one person who keeps posting the same boring thing and listing the same boring link every time. He/she doesn't even own a Pixel 3a but thinks that he/she has the right to preach to those of us who actually do. I spoke to a member of staff who works in a store of the country's biggest mobile phone outlet and he had never heard of the phone shutting down randomly and that the 3a is selling well and not ONE has been returned with this so-called problem. I have a Twitter account with 20.6k followers and I asked for anyone with a 3a to tell me if they had any problems with their phone and everyone that replied told me that they were delighted with it and found it to work faultlessly. I think that puts it into perspective.

  • Who's talking or caring about other phones or what problems they have, people are having real problems right now with THIS phone weather you want to acknowledge it or not, you go ahead and call liars to the poor people in trouble with this phone. To all people wanting this phone my advise is WAIT until problems with this phone (and the XL) are fixed, do not take my word for it, look around the internet: To this date there's no fix other than exchange the defective phone and sometimes people are getting another one with the same defect.

  • I find it funny how people who haven't even manager to get a hold of the phone have commented that the phone is crap. Go deal with what ever phones your using rather then misleading people on forums and comments

  • Pocofone is also Plastic, would you stink here about it too? all your BS reports you're trying to base your worthless opinion on, are typical for ANY huge non-cheapo brand, same happens with the release of every major phone. In reality it's built, optimized and performs much better then the non-plastic crap out there.

  • As for battery, I get around 8 Hours of Screen On Time from one charge of REGULAR use (a little bit of everything and mainly whatsapping), considering that my old Nexus 5 could deliver only 4 hours of SOT, Pixel 3A battery management is freakin awesome.

  • sd card slot is for poor

  • If you want gaming mostly just get the K20 pro, it's even cheaper than this and will run anything on max settings guaranteed.

  • Best camera phone for $400 take it or leave it.

  • Not even a SD card slot? for $399? HAHAHAHA!

  • How does this phone handle games? Wondering if it can run Gachas on max settings, like Azur Lane/Girls Frontline/Senran Kagura/FGO, etc.

  • I feel the same way too

  • I have decided to ignore all the comments being posted by the person identified with location LX7 because it is obvious that he doesn't own a Pixel 3a yet is determined to cause as much trouble with real owners as he can. I beg all of you to do the same and then he might go somewhere else to cause trouble.

  • Not all devices are affected, just like the note 7 only a few dozens burnt out of millions before they were recalled. If your phone keeps doing fine you can call yourself lucky with your purchase.

  • Your comments are pretty stupid I'm using the 3a and I love it no problems so far and the price is perfect for this device

  • Well you haven't used the phone I have the pixel 3a and no problems so far

  • Actually giving google more credit than they deserve, people have apparently just found a workaround for the XL version, read around: Google has done nothing to my knowledge, same with pixel 3, bugs stay months after the phones were released.

  • @Anonymous The problems you mention (which never affected me) were fixed within days of appearing. Credit to Google for acting so fast, some manufacturers take ages to admit their problems or just ignore them and hope they will go away.

  • @Smartphone Tester I've had the Pixel 3a since it came out and like you I am delighted with it simply because everything works. I had a Nokia 7 Plus until the charging port became loose and wouldn't charge anymore (common fault). Then I purchased a Oneplus 6 but could never get Whatsapp notifications to work. I got fed up with people sending me a text message saying that they have sent me a WA. Every app I have on my Pixel 3a just works! I like the plastic body on it because I can squeeze it to bring up Google Assistant without shouting Hey Google or OK Google, which looks strange in the street when you say it. My 3a has worked perfectly from Day 1, and not many phones can boast that.

  • That was the Note 7 that burn itself up dude. I still wouldn't have a use for a phone that starts / restarts itself up anytime or a phone that crashes if you leave the wifi on while idle, much less if it is a $400 cheap piece of plastic.

  • Not every device is affected so lucky you but you can't speak for those who are having issues with the phone, besides you don't know for sure if your phone will start acting up later.

  • Would have been a killer phone if it had a bigger battery and most importantly 128 GB storage for same price. 64 GB is not enough for many users.

  • Seriously, the people going on and on rambling about this phone either A: don't actually own it, or B: recieved a faulty device, because I am not experiencing any sort of ringtone changes, slowdon in Apps, missaligned ports or anything on my device! Mine is actually even imported from the US and it works flawlessly in Switzerland. Sure it's plastic, but taht makes it more durable than most glass phones and I actually kinda like it. The Camera is amazing and the software is everything I've always been looking for: SMooth, Vanilla and with really fast updates. In those regards, this phone actually wins over many others for me, even some flagships, because i want my device to have regular updates and always be secure. Also the purple-ish color is my favourite color of any phone I've evr had ^^

  • Not really great phone for me pure Android

  • Best phone I've ever owned

  • Minor problems when you consider phones like the Samsung Note 5 with the exploding batteries, or the iphone 4 that users were told that they were holding the wrong way. There are more examples of phones that had problems when launched that are far worse than any the Pixel 3a has.

  • Please Give Us THe EnDurance For This Phone, As For A Comparison Between This And The 98 Hour Endurance Of The XL Model!!!! WE DESERVE TO KNOW. thank you i am a big fan and supporter.

  • I could name a few that can't come out with misaligned USB and speaker cutouts (laughable really) and also that won't randomly restart or turn on multiple times a day, I'd say quit being an apologist for them. To anyone getting this I say wait, being what it is right now it will come down in price soon, plus you will get some of the worse issues fixed at least.

  • Name ANY new phone that performs perfectly after launch. The perfect phone hasn’t been built yet and never will. Stop being silly.

  • There are plenty of reports of this phone misbehaving on here and around the internet, google is actually shameless to charge $400 for a piece of cheap plastic that doesn't even work as it should. People who want it for the camera tech should wait for all bugs to be fixed before buying.

  • Your inane ramblings show that you don't actually own this phone yet you feel justified in posting comments about how disappointing it is.

  • Then they will push out 100000 U updates and feel like beta tester

  • Right and what's even funnier ppl paid 399 . Plastic toy

  • This phone is s#@t Only good thing is camera Google's own apps don't work properly gps not working properly i have Chinese phone vivo which shows better accuracy on maps and finds route faster on map! This pixel 3a stuck on just rotating the image i took picture and i wanted to rotate it and everytime this phone stuck and i got it like a week ago! It has too many software issue! The ring volume goes down on its own! Its my first and last Google pixel experience

  • This is what a hypothetical U13 (?) Life could've been isn't it?

  • I'm happy for you max. I wish I didn't have any of these issues either, but unfortunately I do. Seems like quality control has let a lot of damaged goods pass into the market...

  • That phone needs to go back to the store, every one of us get a dud sometime, my awfully expensive 55 OLED tv has two dead pixels already after 3 weeks of use, that's more fun than you are having since warranty will not cover this issue, wish you better luck with your 3a.

  • This phone is a piece of c#$p. It does work with 3/4 of the chargers I have (it does detect that the phone is connected, but refuses to charge); it also refuses to connect to a computer via USB port with half the cables that I have (which are all working just fine with my Nexus 5X, so cables aren't broken). And even when I use the original charger, it refuses to work with the dock I have on my nightstand for it (which btw works fine when used with a different cable to connect to the computer). Overall, I'm disgusted with the lack of professionalism in the design of the phone

  • For those of you who are having trouble with the low audio volume on ringtones, etc, just do the following. 1) Put your Call Volume, Ring Volume, and Alarm Volume at MAXIMUM. (Also, you can enable "Also vibrate for calls", which helps when the phone is in your pocket). The phone ring volume is loud enough to hear when you set it to maximum, but unfortunately it is too low to hear outside if you move the volume slider down even one notch. Google needs to fix this, but in the meantime this is the best solution. The problem is that the ringtone audio is played through the bottom speaker only. Media is played through both speakers. 2) Because the Ring Volume setting is also used for the notification sound, you need to edit the audio file and lower the volume, or else when you get a notification it'll be way too loud. (or you can just select "none" for notification sound). It would be nice if Android had a separate volume control for the notification sound. So...just use an online audio file editor, like mp3 louder dot com. Convert the audio file (ogg or whatever) to mp3 if necessary. Decrease the volume by 3db to 6db and save the new file. Copy the file to the appropriate folder on the phone and select that new file in the sound settings. It'll take just a couple of minutes. Problem solved.

  • The s10e is a very good deal: right now you can pick it up for less than $500

  • atleast put sd card option...

  • Yes I'm also waiting for that :(

  • Absolutely love this phone. Literally cannot complain about a thing.

  • yes

  • Where's the battery endurance rating for pixel 3a? Common gsmarena don't be lazy. at least do the complete review

  • Very different phones, the 8 has a tiny 4.7" IPS screen and a worse than pixel camera, tiny ram too, but the iphones are superb luxurious show off devices, the pixel looks like a kid's toy phone so yeah pick the one better for your needs.

  • Just for everyone to know this phone has some issues right now, frequent restarts and/or misaligned speaker holes and usb jack in some units, overall a great phone but make sure you don't get an affected device, better wait until these issues are solved.

  • When the pixel 3a was made public my first reaction was: "what the hell is this? It's crap".... Then I saw and read a couple of reviews and thought... mhhmm... Ook... It's not that bad... I kinda like the bezels... everyone using phones with (almost) no bezels knows they are just a fancy gimmick... couple of days later I went to local shop, took it in hand.... And now I'm getting one.... For everyone bashing on pixel 3a, just go and try it out... It is perfect... not too small not to large... screen is very nice, bezels offer comfort when using the phone.. CPU is not the top model but.... do you really need it? this thing just works... Camera is excelent.... really nice job google.

  • Most objectively - the pixel 3. It has better cameras, better OLED screen with a better screen to body ratio and 18:9 aspect ratio. But if you think like iOS better you might consider iphone 8, which also would be a faster phone. In my country iphone 8 is about 500-550 euro, and the pixel 3a - 400 euro. I'd definetly go with the Pixel 3a.

  • Overall is the 3a or iPhone 8 better

  • much prefer this looks over that ugly notch.

  • same cost, ips vs oled.

  • I also like bezel, I love Google Pixel 3a.

  • I totally agree with you.

  • I might be the only person on earth saying this unironically - but Thank You Google for the Bezels. What a joy to have a place to put your fingers.

  • This time google didn't buy into apple's awful ideas and put back the bezels and the headphone jack, who in their right mind would like to see a punch hole or notch in their screen?? Outright idiotic. The only acceptable trend in modern smartphones is the taller screen, it doesn't really help much but at least it doesn't break anything.

  • I am from the past, 2015! Trust me, this phone is awesome with those minimal bezels!

  • lol, what a load of nonsense from a clown that obviously never had a Pixel

  • Only bad thing about this phone are those giant bezels

  • Battery rating pls, GSMArena. What's taking so long to publish it..

  • P30 and Huawei will be history soon

  • Yes you should definitely unless you want to stick to the apple ecosystem, but i strongly believe this phone is the best at this price point and so do others. Many of my friends are purchasing this device too

  • 6s is at the end of the road, pixel 3a will be superior in almost every respect specially the camera and battery life, one thing 6s is superior is it's superb build quality like most iPhones are.

  • I currently own an iPhone 6S, should I upgrade to a Pixel 3A? Is it worth it?

  • I picked up my 3a yesterday and it will be used in conjunction with my S10e. This is a fantastic phone. Battery life is great and I am at 7:25 SOT today at 28%. The screen is excellent for a phone at this price and can be read easily in direct sunlight. The SD670 has plenty of power and 4 gigs of ram is sufficient and everything flows smoothly. The finger print scanner is lightening quick and is as fast as the one on my Mate 10 Pro which I consider the best. The biggest surprise was the haptic engine and it is the best of any phone I have ever had and its also the same one found in the Pixel 3 & 3xl. I have never been a fan of glass backed phones so the polycarbonate back is perfect for me and it looks just like the back of the Pixel 3. At 147 grams I barely notice it in my pocket just like my S10e. I grew tired of my Note 8 dragging my pockets down and will never go back to a heavy phone. The camera is of course excellent and I am blown away by night sight. I could easily use this as my only phone. It really is that good! If this phone had a near bezeless screen like the S10e it would be perfect.

  • The more the telephone knows about people the less they care for updates. Of course no smart person would keep sensitive data on a smartphone right? There is nothing important in our download and gallery folders, on our e-mail accounts, facebook or whatsapp. In any case we there are tears we can spill in media to excuse ignorance. Jokes aside. Seriously - I considered buying iPhone only for regular updates and longtime support. I don't care for new OS or features (I see no difference between Android 2 and 9 from my point of view) - I care for security patches and this is where iPhone and Google wipe out competition. Longer support based on technical reasons not marketing trash talk. Really - I used my Wildfire S the same way I use S5. They are same fast and same battery hungry. Only Wildfire was pocket friendly and could be easy operated one hand. I would not dropped it if it wasn't for security.

  • You go for the pixel 3a for the camera, and that's it (unless you care about the software updates which I couldn't care less), if you can't take care of your phone properly any smartphone will end up badly they are all delicate devices, I have never broken a phone screen or scratch it, I just keep it by itself in one of my jacket pockets and I use a screen protector and a case, it gets out when I use it and right back in when I don't.

  • I bough this as a present for my wife. So far so good. Fantastic camera (especially in low light), decent battery life, smooth user interface; worth money for sure !

  • Should i go for the OnePlus 5T or the Pixel 3a? Both phones are the same price, 450 USD. I’ve heard the screen on the 3A is prone to shattering easily. It’s probably because Google uses DragonTrail Glass instead of Gorilla Glass to reduce the cost. I’m a clumsy person so I’m a little concerned about the durability of the 3A. Can someone help me to decide which one should I buy? Thanks in Advance.

  • ROFL "The user experience is very bad: - the fingerprint reader on the back is so useless when it's on the car cradle or sitting on the desk)... given the large bottom bezel (like the one on my good old Samsung S7 Edge) they could have integrated a front fingerprint reader!" Fingerprint reader on the back is the most comfortable and practical one, if it's under the screen you can forget about unlocking it as fast as you would while getting it out of your pocket, you can't even know which side the phone is in your pocket and weather you're touching the right area! So this is NONSENSE. " the "OK Google" doesn't work (I don't want to "squeeze" the phone, what's the point of voice commands if you have to take the phone in your hand)" it does work if you activate it, sometimes if you don't feel like saying OKEH GUGAL like some m0r0n you can just squeeze and ask.. it's awesome "the gesture bar is quite terrible... the user experience on the Pixel 2 is better thanks to the navigation bar (the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen)" gestures is just a gimmick most people don't even use them "no wireless charger... unfortunately I didn't notice that before buying this phone" who needs this slow wireless charger thing, I barely used it on my Nexus 5 and it got my phone super hot, probably not even good for the battery and isn't so good if you got a case! "the display is not very visible outdoors" Should've thought about it before buying an Oled screen, but at least you can use Google's New Dark theme and save on battery. "the Pixel launcher is not as good as the stock one from Android One" Android One is even more simple and boring the the Pixel launcher, what are you talking about. "do not disturb + volume control is still very inconvenient to use compared to the old three state setting (volume on/vibration/silent)" Again, a NOVA launcher can fix that for you. "And finally... I still miss SO much the physical buttons!" ...what? get a nokia 3310 "Why didn't I buy a Samsung S10e instead?" Because it's an overpriced waste of money.

  • Ewwww God no ..bad batteries

  • Save your money buy Nokia 8.1

  • I had this phone for a week now, I bought it for my mom, I have a pixel 2, I will be using the pixel 3a for another week before giving it to her, switching from Pixel 2 to Pixel 3a is the same, I am not missing anything speedwise it is the same, I like how it feels, all plastic, costwise no complains, the phone is a great bargain.

  • The A50 is a jack of all trades (master of none) phone designed mainly to compete with (desperately try to stop) the chinese as possible before it's too late, the pixel 3a is an ordinary midrange phone with a jewel camera, these two phones are not meant to be compared as are aimed at different type of customers. To the average folks pixel 3a is an expensive and nearly useless device. To the pixel 3a customer the A50 is just another mediocre cheap phone in a long list of them with a blurry camera just about as good as the next one.

  • This phone is for taking flagship level pictures at a sub $500 price, it is unique, and yes it should be able to store a lot of pictures with 64 gb, if you are not so interested in picture quality really there not much of a point on getting this at all.

  • thanks. i fear about the ring tone volume. I was about to purchase one. I have bought Pixel 3 before and suffered with the very very low ring volume which is totally unuseable in day to day life and I sold it for a huge loss. now I planned for pixel 3a and thanks for saving me!

  • This phone have led notification?

  • It should, as long as you don't play many games and not planning to keep there a lot of music and movies. The thing is the available space will be much much smaller, I would expect around 40GB after upgrading all the built-in Google Apps. For reference, my Cat S30 has a total of 8GB internal space with Android 5.0, but actual free space is only 2.5GB as the rest is taken by Android, recovery partition, and Google Apps (even if you don't use these) so watch out.

  • I'm on about phones with 18:9 aspect ratios and longer. The 7 is from 2016, 16:9 was still a thing and not an issue.

  • yeah ringtone volume is super low. doesn't really bother me cos i try to avoid answering my phone anyway.

  • How is the Ring Tone Volume? Is it Loud Enough? in Pixel 3 its very low

  • Yes , You are absolutely right I am from India !! I really love Pixel Series I don't care what another company do like specifications, Today living world need safety and secured life still my opinion its can give Apple, Google Pixel Only !!

  • is 64gb enough for apps today? forcing user to use their cloud..

  • lol. If you want the real opinion of this phone, just search the journalist or reviewer that professionally do. Don't even trust easily from this opinion sheet--Marques, Linus, Lew, DxOMark, GSMArena, Android Authority, XDA Developers for deeper information. Many of this "junkie master tech" didn't understand the purpose of this phone. They only blaming on paper-sheet spec without touching this phone. Also don't trust easily with some critism that could be considered as useless essay. The blaming processor with SnD 670 with 400EUR pricing, screen, and no SD Card for expansion. They--the defective reviewer--didn't understand the Google is, means they aren't professional who didn't do the job properly. Google is a internet service that provides software based service. So, Google known for Computational Engineering, Machine Learning, and Cloud Based Programming Paradigm. They don't sell hardware--unlike Xiaomi and Oneplus. Also, Google is not everyone phone, meaning this phone for simple person or enjoying the software behemoth from Google. No SD Card as expansion ? Try Google Drive, it's free and has 15GB capacity per account--meaning 5 Account could boasted up to 75GB. Internet connection also become more cheaper, thanks to high-demand user. Most of people buy this for Camera. Google is the most consistent tech company that develops camera algorithm for 3 YEARS, since original Pixel phone. They never leave anyone unimpressed by camera implementation. Many trusted reviewer from Youtuber, Tech Journalist, even Blogger even considered is as great phone, but not perfect. The pricing point is the biggest issue here. Some of them considered 399 is expensive and 479 for XL model is horrendously expensive. For me, it's not expensive at all. Hardware section maybe mediocre, but software is ungodly great. They even managed to put 4GB RAM and they nailed it, thanks for advanced RAM management. Also, update is blazingly fast. For every month, you'll get an update. Because of this--Google focused on software paradigm, not hardware--it's normal to expect this thing priced that. I also read that many of Indian people freaking out about the high price--570USD. Don't blame Google, blame your government by putting high taxes obligation. Also, India targeted as low to med class Smartphone, so what do you expect. In America, this phone worshipped, through there's no Xiaomi here for some reason. Singaporean people also loves this phone. Also many people in europe, loves this phone. And as I mentioned before, this phone is not meant for everyone. So, don't spread the fake review that targeted to consumer who has really really basic tech knowledge to urge not buying this phone. Experience it at least 1 week or even 1 month if neccesary. Even you experience if this phone that bad, you must objective to review the phone--not comparing other brand that has different focus. Thanks.

  • where you located at?

  • Yes one UI is better... Samsung has great software.

  • Lots have a head phone jack is nothing new Big deal. I am amazed at how amazingly bad google is at making phones and how Google phones ar at least two years behind competition. With pixel 3 they managed to make the most atrocious notch ever to exist and now this those bezels are straight up from a midrange 2015 phone that noone ever bought, and the plastic is really worse than i expected. Software is also meh, the dude that invented pill navigation should award a 'raspberry' award for worst navigation implementation ever And somewhere there, there it was. the Hawie P30 Worlds apart. One was boss and one was toy. Don't waste your money. Lots of better choices.

  • half of the reasons you just mentioned you could of found out before buying the phone, the fingerprint reader on the back, oled screens are never going to be bright outside so doesn't matter which phone you buy with an OLED screen. they just aren't bright, same on TV's. You should of done your research first, all the information you need to know about the device is readily available. So you cant criticise the phone.

  • I SEE NO REASON TO BUY THE 3a/3a XL. that headphone jack though, did any of you really choose jack over those reasons I lists above? I agree, a Pixel 2 is a way better choice than a Pixel 3/3a. However I will never buy a phone without the headphones jack. To me that's a definite showstopper.

  • I received my Google Pixel 3a yesterday, and I'm already trying to sell it without loosing too much money. I've never been so disappointed by a new phone. The user experience is very bad: - the fingerprint reader on the back is so useless when it's on the car cradle or sitting on the desk)... given the large bottom bezel (like the one on my good old Samsung S7 Edge) they could have integrated a front fingerprint reader! - the "OK Google" doesn't work (I don't want to "squeeze" the phone, what's the point of voice commands if you have to take the phone in your hand) - the gesture bar is quite terrible... the user experience on the Pixel 2 is better thanks to the navigation bar (the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen) - no wireless charger... unfortunately I didn't notice that before buying this phone :-( - the display is not very visible outdoors - the Pixel launcher is not as good as the stock one from Android One - do not disturb + volume control is still very inconvenient to use compared to the old three state setting (volume on/vibration/silent) - And finally... I still miss SO much the physical buttons! Why didn't I buy a Samsung S10e instead?

  • Don't buy. I've seen someone bought an LG V30 for $200, which is half the price and superior SoC and everything.

  • I live in an area with poor mobile internet connectivity. My current phone has micro sd slot and a 128gb card. On that I hold my whole music collection. I love the Pixel 3a, but with only 64gb main memory with no card slot at all it can never be the phone for me :{

  • I would not buy the Pixel 2 XL for the size alone. Who wants to carry a racket anyways.

  • Has it FM radio? What about the audio quality? I personally hate notched phones? I loved this phone.

  • here's why Pixel 2 XL is a better buy: - similar price (it is even cheaper in some countries now, ) - better processor (SOC 835) - better camera (correct me if I'm wrong, but better processor = better software image rendering = better image quality, right?) - better speaker - arguably a better screen - better build quality - better color (IMO, the Panda is by far the best color option Pixel was offering) - software support till 2021 I SEE NO REASON TO BUY THE 3a/3a XL. that headphone jack though, did any of you really choose jack over those reasons I lists above?

  • The pixel's 3 hours SOT is a joke compared to the a50's longevity Plus the a50 has wide angle camera for versatile photos A50's processor is superior compared to the sd 670 Exynos 9610 (4x 2.3ghz cores and 4x 1.7 ghz cores) vs sd 670 (2x 2.0ghz and 6x 1.7ghz) Dont forget samsung's built in features

  • 3 bucks? i'd pass out eventho it's free m8

  • Camera is nice compared to price.. checked in best buy now. Big bezels at top and bottom kills the overall look. Else it would have been awesome entry level phone for 399. Because of other missing features this phone is worth $100.. :) May be this is google's $100 phone!??

  • This phone destroys A50 in every aspect(exept the bezels)

  • Google - with all ur resources, don't tell me u couldn't hire some designers

  • Samsung S8 cost less in the market.

  • Everyone is complaining about the design – I'd like to object. It's welcome that there is a phone without the ugly notch. Also, it can obviously fit into a pocket, something most of the "modern" >6" phones can't.

  • 40K is not Affordable in INDIA with just 1. 670 snapdragon processor 2. No Coring gorilla glass 3. 64 MB Internal Storage 4. Plastic Body 5. 3000 MAH Battery 6. Screen Without Notch 7. Outdated March Android Patch 8. 75.0% screen-to-body ratio

  • Better buy galaxy A50

  • 3 bucks take it or leave it

  • That's, like, your opinion, man.

  • People don't buy this phone for SD 670, they buy it because of the camera which is the best and most consistent camera for still images, smooth near-stock Pixel experience, 3 years of guaranteed updates and support, no bloatware, no duplicate accounts, no nonsense.

  • It's got the Pixel 3 camera, which is still considered the best non-zoom camera on any smartphone. If you want zooming, the Huawei P30 Pro is the champion right now. If you don't play games you won't notice the CPU difference. But you would notice the difference in photo quality vs some other budget phone. Seems like they made smart trades with this one rather than focusing on irrelevant specs.

  • Looks like a $199 phone

  • Still out of reach most consumers $399, better $299

  • Why will someone pay 399$ for Snapdragon 670? Doesn't makes any sense.

  • because $399 phones aren't supposed to be in the premium range? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I honestly like the look, it's simple, minimalistic and functional. Why does it matter if people are going to put a case on it anyways?

  • The problem I see is not the lacking in hardware specs, but the phone is ugly and non-premium looking, even for a $399 price tag.

  • Does this phone have fm radio support? That section is mysteriously missing...

  • it has dual speakers. But instead of two front facing speakers like the pixel 3, it has a front firing speaker on the top bezel and a downward firing speaker beside the usb-c port.

  • A70? That is a huge phone. How about the A40? They're both plastic, very similar in size, A40 has better and bigger screen (even though it's physically slightly smaller! what were they thinking at Google when they designed their phone?! I have no idea...) and sd-card, 3A has all the amazing Google software and a promise of longer support straight from Google.

  • Polycarbonate back panel should be more durable than glass sandwich, which is found in almost every flagship and 'premium budget' nowadays. Plastic is indeed cheaper than glass or metal, but it's not necessarily more fragile than the latter two. If anything the phone is not going to break or shatter if you drop it. And people are still going to slap a case on it either way, so I'm not sure where did you get this 'questionable build quality' from. Ifixit has recently released a Pixel 3a XL teardown, so you might wanna check that out before coming to any conclusion. I don't think $400 is too expensive for a midranger that has the same main camera module as its flagship big brother. But yeah let's wait for Zack to tinker and play around with it first.

  • I bought it. Let’s see how it is when it gets here. I have a S10+ (work) and I was looking for a smaller second phone that could still take great pictures. This will be my first Pixel after years of Samsung phones and I am curious.

  • Does this phone have single bottom firing speaker or dual stereo speakers? Other sites are mentioning only one speaker.

  • Id probably go A70 myself amazing prices on their newer range, Samsung One Ui changed the game and its a nice interface.

  • Samsung are mostly 64-32 GB now and you can use a SD Card. I wonder if google will push to many updates filling it up?. Camera ok its good but my quick pics of the dog/ dinner/ arn't going to win awards. I wouldn't buy a phone for the camera anyhow, Build qaulity is ok plastic as many are, but i think One UI Samsung may have an edge over this thoughts???

  • Ermmmmmmm why people calling buget when its clearly Flagship price $700?. Budget is $200-300 $399 USD sounds nice conver it and :(

  • The pixel 3a lacks alot in the hardware aspect but makes it up for the software and camera. Basically you are paying for the google experience. Consistent update for the next 3 years with little to none bloatware. Great camera that can rival flagship phones. Sure, the bezels makes the phone design looks like it belongs in 2015. The problem with smartphone manufacturers is that depending on where you live, you may or may not get consistent updates. The biggest disappointment for me is the storage option and 4gb ram in 2019. 64gb is just too little and there is no external storage.

  • Yea. Its all good until your phone breaks. The build quality on this phone seems questionable. For 400 dollars, its still really expensive. Cutting costs on build quality is just bad. Ill rather much have a phone that can last. Only smartphone camera enthusiasts would no mind getting this phone as it has the original pixel 3 camera built in to it. We will have to wait for jerryrigseverything to do a durability test first.

  • Sounds like a great phone minus no SD slot and small battery for the price

  • The bezels are too big for a 2019 smartphone. Still a nice smartphone anyway.

  • Literally the best answer to all the people calling this phone out. It's providing what most people find necessary and doesn't force people to spend over $1k just to get the perfect camera or software. Thanks for bringing this out mate.

  • Its a supply and demand strategy between USA and India. If this phone is well sold USA, they won't be able to meet the enough supply demand at both parts of the world; that's why, they kept higher pricing knowing that it will not sell very well but if the USA market is not curious enough to test this product then a must price cut will happen.

  • People especially spec-sheet junkies are quick to bash this phone because of the mediocre hardware but if only they knew all the amazing work Google has put into its computational photography and machine learning. Getting the same main camera as their current flagship Pixel (which is arguably one the best camera on the market) with much lower price is a steal IMO. R&D isn't cheap people, yes they could sell this phone for $200 but what good would come out of Nexus 6P or OG Pixel like camera in 2019? it's a 'Pixel' phone afterall, they had to cut corners and trim something down to make up for the price cut. Also your $400-500 Chinese flagship-killer phones aren't any better, camera wise either. Sure you can install GCam but GCam for non-pixel phones is just too buggy and unreliable at the moment. I like what Google did here, best point-and-shoot camera for only $399, not to mention the 3 years of guaranteed updates and the built in Titan M chip (Pixel was rated the highest for built-in security among all smartphones besides Blackberry and iPhone).

  • Outdated design with fat top and bottom bezels, a SD 670 as SOC, and a small battery. I am not paying $399 for it. I think even the Nokia looks better for comparison.

  • Yes, the phone is ok comparing it to older google phones, but you can get more for that price.

  • nope. neither in camera nor in software. the rest is better, sure.

  • 400 Euro ??? Mi9 better in every thing.

  • Pixel 3a vs pixel 2xl what cost p

  • Wider bazels. Ugly looks.

  • how is the battery life?

  • if you really care about camera than get the pixel, but for anything else( except for stock android) get the a70

  • ุ64GB without card slot? no thanks, phone from 2016

  • Pixel 3a vs Samsung A70?

  • Lg G7 Thinq or Samsung S9 or This .... thing ? Wow... How do they justify this price ?

  • Man, to hell with small bezels. They have very little to do with a phone being good. I care about the quality of the display and the internals. Screen to body ratio is not very important, It's just a trick by hardware companies to make you think you need to keep buying a new phone every year, even though the improvements that actually matter have slowed considerably. No one even cared about this 2-3 years ago until they programmed you into thinking that you should.

  • No notch? This is amazing!

  • mine due Saturday black one. Looking forward to being back in Nexus (Pixel) land and hope audio through 3.5 good and loud.

  • pixel 3a has single or dual sim?

  • Just ordered mine. So excited!

  • No

  • No dual sim it's only a single sim phone

  • This will be next best seller.

  • I'm on about phones with 18:9 and taller displays.

  • Hello somebody know if this phone is dual sim? May i have two numbers and receive calls from any of them at the same time

  • I think that mi 9 has even an overall better camera Tripple camera with telephoto and ultra wide angle Also you can install google camera in Xiaomi phones

  • I agree with most of what you said. Pixel have the best photo camera. And the video stabilization is also pretty good. Good display, good speakers. If you want Sd 855 buy a phone with that processor. Pixel 3a will still win in some areas

  • Yes shame on you google - 5.6 screen with big fat bezels! Im suprised googles design team hasnt been fired for being consistantly 2-3 yrs behind the majority smartphone world ?!?

  • I think this is decent choice. I would totally down just because the design. some people might argue that the bezel is too thick maybe? oh come on now, it's not that bad. it actually helps you operate the phone with one hand. I love old classic design without notch. it looks clean and still elegant. but seeing the price tag and called it "mid-range" is definitely not true and a bummer, especially for those who live in developing countries. it won't be 399 USD here, it will be significantly more expensive than other great phones which is sucks.

  • Not only discount 2018's flagship. I can get 2019 Xiaomi flagship Mi 9 for cheaper than 3a in my country though. Mi 9 costs just ~425 usd while 3a cost ~485 usd in my country. Pay 60 usd more for its camera and software while getting inferior overall package? Maybe not. Pixel 3a should be priced at 299 usd, maybe we will see that during black friday sale.

  • This is FAR from the value and quality offering they provided in their Nexus program. Actual flagship specs for a midrange price. This is still a money grab.

  • C'mon guys give Google a little credit here. I know this phone doesn't have the latest and greatest for the asking price. But if you compare it with the latest Nexus devices it's definitely not bad. The Nexus 5x and Nexus 6p launched in September of 2015, Nexus 5x was tagged at U$S379 for the 16GB model and U$S429 for the 32 GB variant (a lot more expensive in Europe at €479 and €529 respectively). And Nexus 6p cost was U$S 499 for 32GB model, U$S 549 for 64GB and U$S649 for the 128 GB version (€649, €699 and €799! in Europe) Maybe you could say that Nexus phones had the best hardware at the time. But seriously, how much better this phones are compared to them, tech has advanced tremendously and so I think these phones are a good replacement for the Nexus phones.

  • Solid hardware for the price.. But design is not match with the current standards.. A capable phone with ugly design.. Shame on you google..

  • It is definitely over-priced for these specs, and how can it be so wide and tall, and only a 5.6" screen inside? Look at the new Alcatel budget and mid-segment phones, they have a 6" screen and smaller body than these!

  • Google thinks we are fools! 39999 for pixel 3a in India. Joke!

  • too big body size for 5.6 inch screen size! its not compact, its still shovel. and battery only 3000mAh, how much you saved for not using decent battery, 5 penny on each model?

  • Read about the Snapdragon 670. Very promising. In the States, you wait for the price to drop in six months. I'll pick it up when it reaches $200.

  • Though looks like a great phone at first sight, the Pixel 3a is still overpriced. There are many far better phones (at least in specs) in this price range.

  • I want this phone but its not here in Indonesia :(

  • Dead On Arrival

  • Nobody: Google: "You want the best point-and-shoot camera on your phone but can't afford our overpriced Pixel 3? Well here it is, the stripped down version of our Pixel 3, made with less premium materials and slower processor. Yes it's still slightly overpriced compared to Chinese phones, but you'll get the exact same camera as our latest flagship Pixels!" In all honesty the Pixel phones are all about the camera, you're getting 2018 flagship level camera at just ~$399; everything else doesn't really matter to most people (not talking about you tech enthusiasts) because the Pixels are known for their CAMERA, not bleeding edge bezel-less display and hardware design. For those saying you should get a Pixel 2 instead - you people are missing the point, yes the Pixel 2 and 2 XL indeed have better hardware but these 2 phones came out in 2017 and you're supposedly going to receive longer updates and support with the 3a. Yes you can get a discounted 2018 flagship Chinese phones (OnePlus or Xiaomi) with better hardware at somehow similar price but you're not going to get a flagship-tier camera on those phones. Install Gcam? Sure, but only if you don't mind spending extra time fiddling with your phone because the app isn't working correctly. Gcam on non-pixel phones is just a buggy, laggy mess. There's no IP rating albeit understandable due to the price point, the SD 670 will do fine for average people unless you do heavy games, lots of editing and switch back and forth between them. I do however wish that Google would have waited for SD 730 instead of rushing to launch the product just because the Pixel 3 isn't selling well. Also Google should have made the 3a as the compact midrange version of the Pixel 3 just like what OnePlus did with their OnePlus X with much less smaller screen and overall size (looking at ~5.2" display). $400 midranger with arguably the best and most consistent camera, OLEDs, advanced x-axis haptics, active edge, stereo speakers and a freakin headphone jack, I mean what more could you ask for? cheaper price? Well, this is made by Google phone, not Xiaomi, OnePlus, Huawei or Nokia.

  • 360 EUR for one of the best camera and unlimited photo backup in high quality is very very OK!!! Are you not tired of all these Chinese garbage phones? where you get supper hardware with garbage software? Don't you prefer a good daily driver who help you perform all tasks in good conditions and more easy beside saying I have more RAM more cores and you write a phone number manually(like 10 years ago...) when on a pixel you just open the camera and call directly... when google maps share all public contacts with the calling app so you can search directly(not to open the maps... copy the number... bla bla bla) or use the assistant to make a call at a hair salon(phone number public on maps) for you? and more and more and more...

  • I was hoping it would be a normal size phone, and not another tablet...

  • Either get the oneplus 7 instead or the s10e.

  • Waste mobile. Not worth for money. We don't be in trap of Google.

  • Well Said Bro its over priced better go for One Plus 7 / One Plus 6T

  • Buy it quickly. It'll discontinue after 1+7 become available.

  • Too expensive, battery too small. You can buy the Mi 8 for £399, I got mine for £299 in their sale. This feels more like a £250 phone to me. Let's wait until the battery benchmark tests and real world feedback is in, but I can't imagine it's going to be too competitive.

  • If camera and true stock Android is not as important as specs then yes, Oneplus is indeed better for you! :D

  • it is not about the specs but the camera and software!!! o3o

  • You mainly buy this for camera and software, not so much the rest of the hardware... ^_^

  • Where is the notch? I want the notch!

  • There are better options/alternatives at this price... In my country, the xiaomi mi 9 is cheaper than this 'budget' smartphone with the latest specs. Disappointing Google. Honestly, no one apart from smartphone camera enthusiasts should even bother to consier buying this phone

  • I really had some expectations from this phone. Why did they had to make it bigger than pixel 3? Also the screen doesn't respect any standard 16:9 or at least 18:9. The audio jack is outdated i cant see any reason for which they brought it back, at least without it there would be a lower production cost, its price is high enough as it is. I'm going for a Nokia, maybe next year @Google you will create a Pixel 4 Lite as you were supposed to!

  • unnecessary

  • It's not menat for the Asian market...

  • Welcome to 2018 Google! Mark my words @Google... Both the phones are gonna be a massive flop in India! How dumb do you think people are? Are you kidding with the specs for such a price tag with a fat-a** chin and bezel?

  • Its over priced, It has great software features but some of them only work in US not in India, Moreover these features are Novelty not necessity or must have features. In India its starting from 39,999 INR which is 575USD, Its way overpriced for its offerings. it seems google is deliberately trying to fail.

  • I would rather get Oneplus 6t than pixel 3a

  • Wireless chanrging Is missing ??

  • Only camera focused, too much overpriced , SD 670, 3000mah battery... Isn't a good deal at all, competes with the oneplus 6 territory...

  • No USB OTG..Come On google..This phone s*ck

  • Absolutely ridiculous, a midrange cell phone only with 64GB of internal storage and no expandable memory option is none of my mind. #Google is getting greedy day by day like #Apple. An expandable memory option and a 3.5mm headphone jack are the life of Midrange devices, what are you doing Google?

  • Does it have stereo video recording, LED notification light? Wonder how audio output is through headphone jack. Getting one anyway have funny glitches with my new Honor 10.

  • Too sad Google no longer allows virtual buttons for their phones. Gestures suck .... I want android, not iOS copycat

  • Sad it is another big phone may go for pixel 2 but will wait for real reviews.

  • Personally, i got A40 a week ago and i am really happy with it. S10e looks nice, but i got my A40 for like 160 euro and S10e costs about 4x times that here, wouldn't be worth it for me at all.

  • Wish this phone was 5.2"

  • I'm with you on that. They can't even make it the same size as the Pixel 3. This Pixel 3a doesn't make any sense. People who don't care much about size will buy the Pixel 3a XL but those looking for a compact phone won't buy the Pixel 3a. If only they made it as compact as the Galaxy s10e or at least the Pixel 3 by trimming the bezels (especially that chin that seems to be thicker than the forehead), then this could've ruled the compact midrange segment. And they could've just added expandable memory since speed is obviously not a major priority with that aging chipset.

  • 2 years old outdated design + less compact than original Pixel 3 + plastic back (will scratch like a crazy) - thanks but no thanks...

  • Xiaomi Mi5s Plus has better specs except the camera and is 2 1/2 years old...

  • True consumers: -bragging all the time about the design -bragging all the time about the materials used -doesnt look like any iphone -bad color options -it doesnt have 100% screen to body ratio -bezels Btw, a compact flagship had bezels, had a smaller screen and the maximum lenght is still 13 centimeters.

  • this phone supposed to be a compact version of XL yet it is too big for comfort one handed usage. And the battery is subpar despite big dimensions.

  • 3000mah? That won't last me a full day, even on mediocre usage

  • Mark my words this will be Googles best selling phone since the Nexus line....though that is not saying much this is exactly what Google needs right now

  • This phone costs the same as Mi 9 or Huawei Mate20 in my country. Why should I get it?

  • Only 4gb ram? This really just a camera phone. Shame even most women won't buy it because of its ugly dated looks on the front.

  • Just get Samsung s10e

  • I can reach them with my iPhone 7.

  • 70mm matters more than the length, nobody can reach the top corners anyways.

  • Same. Any thoughts on what other phones you think of? The Galaxy S10e or a lower spec model the Galaxy A40?

  • I was hoping this phone to be a compact one but 151.3x70.1x8.2 mm is way too big, at least for me.

  • Yeah, it most likely won't have any of that, though.

  • yup, night sight, call screening..these feature have no to very low value in South Asian markets. Instead earbuds will do the job better. I'm okay with oled though but LCD could have been the product more affordable.

  • I hope pixels will be available to more carriers an more countries!!!

  • add pixel earbuds and amoled display, i'm your man. pixel is known for camera but bad in hardware specs, ram management and other bugs/issues. So, why do you think, i should pay that much for an year old inferior chipsets when some chinese brands already sold those phones almost a year ago and your brand pixel itself with higher specs, camera, earbuds are sold for $599!!!

  • I believe it's an OLED, but no stereo speakers or ip rating

  • If only the flagship models would also go plastic. Much better. Not just the handling. But people want a precious object instead, something to look at and be like wow this is premium stuff but slap a case on it ; )

  • I agree with you, IPS with 4 ram , SD 660 for 400$ lol, I have Nokia 7 plus with the same components and android one os with better built quality for 250$.

  • if this have waterproof, stereo speaker and msd slot.... maybe oled screen.... why not??

  • The display is goning to be oled, not lcd

  • I'm actually glad this phone has no nodge or punch hole (meaning no ugly interface (for example like seen with S10e). The bezels could be a bit smaller. I do like to be able to use it without accidentally pressing somewhere on the screen when just grabbing the phone. Imagine a edge display... I should not have to be that carefull wen operating a phone. Less user friendly imo. Sony seems to get it (like with there compact phones already) and now with there new models without a nodge or hole punch yet small bezels and smaller widths but unfortunately (for me ) taller phones

  • I like to know if its water resistant (IP68) and what the exact length is. I know there are some sites telling the dimensions are 151.3 x 70.1 x 8.2mm. If true the galaxy S10e still remains best choice for compact android with no real competition. I have no problem with the plastic body might even be better than metal..

  • Why anyone would spend $400 on this ugly thing is beyond me. Samsung have one ui lovely software!!!!!! this so 2008

  • 32 gb internal without sd card and the biggest bezels mankind manufactures in this decade. How much are they going to pay for the test subjects willing to succumb in this torment?

  • 2915 mah is it 2015 still?

  • It is named Pixel 3a in Geekbench. And the Pixel 3a XL has a SD710 chip.

  • Budget price. 5.6incher 4gb yezz...

  • The phone in the picture is a Pixel 2

  • Without microSD, 32GB · · · Once I installed the app I bought, I can not shoot any videos.   RAM 32GB + microSD (256GB +) or RAM 128GB, probably I do not think I can sell.

  • This seems to have a larger chin & forehead than the original Pixel 1. That's a ridiculous look for a 2019 phone.

  • A "budget" Pixel will cost on the same ballpark as a high-end Samsung or a top notch generic android. And yet i'm seriously considering one, as long as i can get a 64 gb version. Reason is simple: every day 5 you get a security patch. No phone other than my long gone nexus 5x had that.

  • I read from some sites claiming the retail price will be over RS40,000. IMO, it is overpriced as the amount would already be enough for buying older flagships or new mid-rangers. I don't understand why Google would have the confidence that they can set such price and get lots of customers.

  • I would purchase if it weren't for the max 32GB storage. Major defect. Need 64 minimum.

  • I am hoping for a price around USD 300... 350 max. Otherwise I'll just forget the camera and keep using my Mi A1.

  • This is DOA if it's really only 32GB. Really? In 2019? Get serious, Google.

  • ROM should be minimum 64 gb

  • Should be priced in budget segment

  • Nah to much be more like $250-300 for specs!!!

  • good enough for most users, with google photos back up

  • Thankgod glass backs are gone, prefer plastic nice phone wonder what the $$$$$$$$

  • No Google phone has had a sd card in like 6-7 years.

  • 32 gb it is very low. my samsung galaxy s7 barely hold on its 32 gb memory. i only can installed 2 game and several important apps. And i need to delete whatsapp image from work every month. Already move my music, video, and camera picture on sd card though (which is this google pixel doesn't have). using cloud is not a solution because mostly internet not available when travel on countryside (at least i can use it for phone call and listen music and sometimes watch movie offline)

  • WTF! Not Sd card, you kidding me?

  • 32GB is plenty for me.

  • I`ll let you know that Google devices come with unlimited storage and RAM, the camera also is a million megapixels so shut up and go back to your country

  • Maybe, just maybe, not everyone likes to use cloud storage or music streaming services.

  • What do you guys do on your phone that makes 32 GB so unacceptable? I've been using 32 GB phones since 2011 and I've always had 10+ GB free. With music / video streaming services, Google Photos, other cloud storage options like Google Drive, etc. it's effortless not to use a lot of storage space. Does everyone just install 300 apps and load up their movie collection? lol

  • 32GB rom and no sd card. Lmao

  • I am skeptical on it being 32GB for SD670 (Min 64GB), I hope they get the price right though..., since they are primarily planing it for developing country ..., where majority (& myself) will probably settle for a good phone under 300$ ~ (21K INR)

  • if sd 700 series, 64 gb internal and under $400 usd.. then its beats all mid range ang high mid range phone.

  • Great! Thats exactly what I want.

  • Yes.At least in 2019 makes sense

  • Don't expect price less than 450$ for 32gb variant. Google just makes money just for stock android and camera...nothing else

  • I hope this one comes cheaper than Xiaomi mi 8 or it will have no chances

  • Will it have an eSIM? Thanks.

  • Bezels are fine even big ones are better then your notch

  • At least its ugly.... my god can they make the bezzles any bigger?

  • Hey, at least there's still the headphone jack.

  • thats the pixel 2 in the photo not the 3 lite can you please stop complaining ffs

  • they should add expandable storage space for this one.... and the design is horrible what the hell. lol

  • Pixels camera is unbeatable but their design is most disgusting in planet. They should improve their design first.

  • Price should be as near as Nexus 5 during debut. Close to $300.

  • Biggest bezels ever. Just like iPhone 4, 5, 6, 7, 8... Apple and Google are very innovative companies!

  • UNOFFICIAL SPECIFICATIONS... Ok, but i preffer to hace 64gb rom or sd slot at least. The chipsst, i really dont know, but SD670 Is not bad! All that reduce the price!

  • 700 series chipset please and i know unlimited cloud storage is there but 64gb internal is more preferable

  • 32 gigs internal with no sd card slot? Is this a joke?

  • Why not? Sounds good IF the price is honest

  • yep....according to picture this device will have roughly 50% screen to body.... This is how you get rid of old parts ;)

  • At least give snapdragon 710

  • No SD card and just 32GB? Really lame if true, also no IR BLASTER or Radio? Does it have front facing stereo speakers? NFC is good. :D

  • Do people don't know how to read? It says UNOFFICIAL SPECIFICATIONS, they are not official yet. But I still hope Google at least includes 64GB minimum of storage with this phone.

  • That's the image of Pixel 2 (not Pixel 3 lite)

  • IP68?

  • I can't see the display for the bezels. You could grab this with both hands like bike handles and still not get your hands in front of the screen. This better not be more than 100$. Hmm, I wonder if the bezel is in fact 3 Pixel XL notches next to each other.

  • 32gb and no card slot? 5cm edges, nice nice, since 2008.

  • What is this ,a box with 2 handles on up and down? Specs are good but looks are 1990s

  • Pixel 3 lite? sound interesting, but with 32 GB? oooohhhh.. no comment

  • Very good phone in my oppinion. Just these siies to be improved: -3.5 jack, no FM Radio? -Front fingerprint (it looks like there is space, is better than the one behind) -32 gb sucks -price no more than 350 eur should be

  • Mini jack? Google just did 360, it's amazing they include mini jack.

  • With unlimited google drive storage... this phone will be ok for 400-600$... I have a pixel 2 with 64 GB and I always have ~40gb free and take a lot of pictures... Only the price will make this phone a good choice...

  • This kind of storage is a joke. 64 and 128 gb would make it more attractive.

  • well google thinks that you will use everything cloud-based, including music

  • worth about $100 max, if more than that then its overpriced phone

  • LOL 32GB with no sd slot. Welcome to 2012. What good is the 3.5mm jack for when you can't put music in your phone?
