I think this is the ancestor to the Samsung D500. This phone looks very high-tech at the time although it's positioned on the upper mid-range. But it falls largely to the recent Galaxy S9+ which is the best phone to date!

it's a great phone.. if you need to call, send txt, play games and take pictures..if you want to listen to music get a player(so you can listen to your music all the time and not worry about your phones battery will die)...

I own one of this mobile...at first everything was fine but after I got to realize that its not worth...the infrared does not work, it has no bluetooth, no mp3, no usb and its screen is not working. I had to fix it about 7 times and its relay expensive to fix it. I have to recharge it every single day. The only gd thingd are that it is small and it has got a good flash.

FOR ANNE: download EasyStudio from www.samsungmobile.com and get some infrared port for your computer..then install EasyStudio and connect your phone to IR port. Thats it!!! Good luck

The E800 is an excelent phone if you dont require bluetooth & i find it more reliable,smaller & has better camera then D500,People who moan about no bluetooth should check specifaction of any phone before they buy!!Photos,ringtones etc can be transferd to pc via data cable or infrared,

I have had this mobile for just a year and lately it gave me great trouble. suddenly when i switch it on, i get the word samsung written the other way round as if you are looking to it through a mirror. all graphics have gone and is very disappointing. It also used to sweitch off withoug touching it.

I bought this phone a year ago, it looked nice and is really a great phone. But It gave me tremendous problems, sliding tone suddenly stopped working, after that the locking of the phone stopped working and after a few months gave various problems. It didn't seem to work anymore( after getting it fixed every month). I still have it and are looking forward receiving a new phone in its place.

i have been using this phone for 18 months and have had absolutly no problems with it what so ever. my 3 year old son uses it as a toy and it never breaks. I've used nokia in the past and they break like toy soldiers. I LOVE THIS PHONE

i've got a samsung e800 there's always been problems with it but now it freezes up everytime i try and get into the 'take a photo' option in the menu. someone must know what's wrong and if i can fix it myself. i swear i love this phone but it's never without it's problems.

Brillant Phone. The features is not that supreme but the design is really elegant and very sophisticated. Note: If Infrared is not working. The solution is go to the settings of the PIMS/File Manager and choose the (IRD) infrared as the default connection. You can only transfer photos in your PC if the photos are located in the 'Images' directory of your phone and not in the 'Photos' folder same goes when transfering images from your PC to Samsung E800. The thing that i dont like about this phone is if you composed a text message and then inserted the wrong whone number you cannot go back to the message editor instead you need to cancel everything then compose another message. You cannot change the default melodies for text messages.

This phone has a bad left soft key. It gets locked for no apparent reason. You try everything ,including removing the battery but the key is locked for ever. Spend �25 to have it repaired and in few days time it is stuck again. It is impossible to use the menu or select any function without left soft key and the green button. I am just fed up.

I can only send to my PC my phonebook entries one by one :) (nice)I can't send pictures made with the camera. I can't set as ringing tones sounds received by SMS. etc Preety dumb phone. i got this phone a few months ago when it first came out, the screen is terrible, the signal is awful and everytime somone tries to call it it goes onto voicemail... it looks cute and its tiny (and easily lost :S) but its good looks arent worth the agro ive had wiv it

hi gabe, have u used the simcard that came with the fone? if not u'll have to fone up the network ur on to get the setting sent to ur fone then u'll have no problems then with downloading as i had to do that, good luck

The samsung e800 is a fake, i only had it 2 days ago and still it's getting on my nerves, also there is lots of features but i cant seem to work, its compact but every time i slide it back down it dies, don't even ask, now ive got the Nokia 7280, it's a great phone and really thin and quite small,but it doesen't have no games, it has bluetooth and fm radio,Confusing and sorta difficult to use at first but once you get the hang of it, it's just plain great. The design makes you definitely special. Enough space for some mp3s and pictures... Bluetooth is always a plus. Thumbs up Nokia! It's still hard to txt but it the thing you get used to with all phones yay!!!!

I bought this phone on a 18 month contract. I wish i hadn't now! Every so often the screen fuzz's and usually turns itself off. Other times the screen goes a bright white colour. And stays that way for hours on end. I've sent the phone away to be sorted twice, If another problem happens again, i'll definately be complaining, and checking for a new phone entitlement

The physical design of this phone is excellent. The phone can be worn with the earpiece comfortably and securely round your neck- very handy for people always on the move (and with full pockets). The biggest problem I had with this phone is that the infra-red never seen to work. It is impossible to send photos or texts. Apparently the infra-red is only limited to transferring contact details to other samsung phones.

I have tried to copy them all but then it shows 2 of each number and i dont want that. I also dont want to do that in case my phone messes up and i don't want to have to copy all my numbers again. it's an easy prob. to get out the pictures from the phone , just send it via MMS to a phone features infra red or bluetooth then send it to ur PC . And you have to know that the infra red in your mobile is incomplete IR which means that it cannot send photos or videos , it can only send names & numbers from your phonebook ... regards

I have had this phone since september 2004. But in June started having problems with it. The delete button doesnt work on it, for some reason. So its a pain if you make a mistake in a text message. You have to start all over again. Also I cannot make calls. The green phone button what you use to answer your calls. Will not work. No matter how hard you press the thing. So Im counting down the days till september till I can get shut of it. It had been fine for 9 months.

Hi there, To all those looking for the PINK version of the Samsung E800, I have also had trouble finding this. I purchased the silver version a few months ago and was disappointed to find that there was a pink version on the market! Heres a tip....there is a guy on ebay selling the pink casing! complete with screwdriver to take off the old casing, so now I have a funky pink E800! He is selling it for �9.99 plus P&P, great! :D

Hi guys, I think this phone is good generally but I have expereinced problems with it, such as when i got to answer calls it would freeze and then say i had missed the call. It has also switched itself off and decided that it was charging when it wasn't plugged into the charger. But this has only happened afew times. The camera is fab, one of the better camera phones i've seen so if you don't mind not always being able to answer all ur calls then buy it.

Some people try to flash this phone with uncompatible firmware and it voids the phones warranty and that is the reason why many problems occur such as screen and power problems and they cannot put back the original firmware. It is the fault of the user who try to flash this phone with uncompatible firmware. So if i were u, leave the phone as it is as much as possible and if not, make sure u have the right firmware. I think the phone is superior in design, hardware and software compare to other brands. Do not deny yourself with this phone. Maybe it lacks other feature but what a heck it sure is a reliable phone. thanks

I've had this phone since December and have had endless problems. Everyone thinks it looks great but when it keeps switching itself off it's not so fantastic. It started doing so in Feb and would also freeze whenever I tried to answer a call...people then thought I was hanging up on them. It was sent off to be fixed and when I had it back I couldn't send or receive MMS as it constantly said 'network unavailable'...which bamboozled all of the staff at the phone shop. However, once that problem was fixed it started switching itself off again and also regularly tells me there is no service when there definitely should be!

I have had a few probs with my phone, like it freezing and switching off while im writing a text, and the screen distorting, but that happened just once, early on when I first got it. Ive also started getting a "card memory full" warning every now and again, even though its not full which is VERY annoying!! I find it amazing the amount of people who are dissapopinted with lack of video, or bluetooth. didnt you read the spec before you got the phone??!! However, the tones (esp alarms!)are annoying, and that couldnt be known until you owned it! Always check out a phone and what it does as best you can before you buy!

Can anyone help me here? I just bought this phone 2 weeks ago it works quiet well actually if you are not looking for the extreme in a mobile very user friendly. Unfortunately it doesn�t have Bluetooth  & I think the sounds ring tones could be louder. Well I work in a nosey work place & it�s not the first time I have a few missed callers. The phone is attached to my belt so the vibration can�t be felt unfortunately. A friend of mine has a LOUD ring tone (same make different module) but when we came to send it via infrared my mobile began to download the file or ring tone. When download was done the other mobile said transfer could not be done? This also happened on an inferred port from PC to Mobile & other mobile phones that have infrared. Infrared was switched on file was downloading mobile does not have it�s memory full it�s still new. Does anyone know why? Any Help?

ive had this fone 4 about 4/5 months i think. has been an alrite phone, however, i have found a few problems with it. These are extremely annoying. my camera doesnt work, it comes up with the message "file save error, capture error". this causes my fone 2 freeze. Occasionally when i turn on my fone, there is a blank screen. Fortunately i did not buy this fone, my mam got it from an upgrade and gave it to me. i really would like a new fone, this fone is frying my brain. i would not recommend this fone to any1. However, if it did not have these problems, it would b a nice little fone, unfortuantely, it does have problems.

HELP ME FIND A SIMPLE RING RING TONE! I love the phone, got it this morning. It's v small and i like the style. I'm going to miss my Nokia 7210 tho. With the nokia, txt messaging was much easier and your last message was saved on the screen. It also appears that there's no way to see sent messages with this phone, bad news if you like to txt exes wen you're drunk! You can't use as many characters either. It's going to take a bit of getting used to with this phone. What is annoying me the most is the choice of ring tones - why can't you get a simple "ring ring" anymore? Saw the advert last sep. loved the phone, bought it, loved it even more, lasted till christmas then I had problem after dproblem after problem. Someone said they just got a white screen when they turned it on, I had that if I tried to turn it on when the slide was open. Sometimes it worked when the slide was shut, then the screen would just go crazy. The colours merged, swapped, faded etc. The screen split into 4 parts and all the parts swapped. It wouldn't let me change the ringtone, just occasionally changed itself then finally I got stuck with the most embarassing ringtone of the lot that started as a voice saying 'feel good..feel good' -its called stream i think. Apart from the ringtone problem, usually when I turned the phone off and on again (as long as the slide was shut)it would go back to normal, but this only lasted 5 mins max. Then it got ridiculous, buttons stopped working and all I had left that worked was the up button, some numbers and the end call button. Along with the screwed up screen. Sent it off and got it back 'repaired' and it broke the next day. Sent it off again, got a new one, broke within a week. However, a friend of mine has the same phone for 5 months and has faced no problems whatsoever. I would say there are better phones on the market now and it isn't worth the risk of buying it, but if it works, its good!

I just had my phone yesterday, I thought it was really great...... when judged by it's appearance and size. This was my first phone from Samsung, actually, my very first phone which isn't nokia! Anyway, I was really disappointed because of the following reasons: (To think that I just had it yesterday!) --> No voice recorder --> No video recorder --> No blue tooth --> Lo-life battery --> You can't put any personalized ringing tone But then, not all people knows this, so if you use your phone in public, it will probably look nicer than it really is, hehe. But I think it has a pretty cool camera, because you can adjust the brightness on the spot unlke others wherein you have to fix the settings first, and the zooming doesn't affect the pixels of the picture.

The phone is used by my wife and for her it is stunning. The problems though are as follows: 1. Can't seem to by a car hands free kit from Samsung recommended suppliers. They have been waiting for stock for 5 months. 2. I bought a SoundMate Loudspeaker attachment for it (product #ASP010GSE) but the volume was no different to the built in loudspeaker. If anyone can advise me of suitable solutions I will be very grateful. Oh yeah, Samsung Electronice help desk were as much use as a chocolate radiator. I agree this is a easy to use and stylish phone and it takes great photographs, so why is it that against all my attempts and weeks of pulling out my hair I cannot get the photographs to up load via a USB cable to my computer ??? I have been to pc world, endless amount of phone shops but no-one can help me, one phone shop suggested that I e-mail my photographs to my computer, great idea I thought, went through the whole process only to be told at the end that NETWORK UNAVAILABLE. I think the Samsung E800 is a very stylish phone, but the battery life is poor, especially when taking photo's. The appearance is very neat and eye-catching and it's a small, compact phone. The only other problem I have is the annoying alarm tones. Couldn't Samsung have come up with something more gentle when waking you up in the morning, instead of these loud tones that almost make your heart stop beating???

I bought this phone two weeks ago to replace my sony ericsson z600. Annoyances - - cant send or recieve anything via infrared. - no 'unsent' messages folder so if you leave the message writing screen you have to do your text all over again. - you cant set the phone to ring and vibrate at the same time. - the keypad is very small, wouldnt recommend for men. - no bluetooth. its not a bad phone but the little things are the things that are really annoying me, id recommend the z600 and will prob go back to sony ericsson very soon!

just to shed some light on the problems with e800... many people are experiencing problems texting, getting no service messages up and error messages up when trying to text.. the problem is in the phones software, it needs flashing.. if your phone is less than a year old you need to phone samsung and have it sent back for repair, you must phone samsung as the more people that log the same problem the more chance of them not repeating it with future phones. ihave phoned them today and they are sending out the relevant packaging to return my phone for repair..

well I purchased an e800 and it came in a color named as "Cool Grey" on the box, I ordered an extra battery and it is a completely different colour it is a light silver battery and looks totally silly. i have rang Samsung and they are telling me that the phone only comes in one color. can someone shine a light on this as this is really frustrating me no end!! has someone mixed up the colors when making the plastic for the batteries or what, hello THEY DON'T MATCH!!!!!

This Phone is terrible so don't be fooled! It is extremely cute and so small that you can take it any where but since recieving it I can not recieve calls as it rejects them straight away and can not make calls which are over 17 sec. However I would say I've had other samsung phones and never before had a problem and if you only like to text it is a jem. But beware this phone is C*!P.

When i first looked at this fone i was like wow another sliding fone. but when i tryed it out, it completly suked. the sliding keypad is annoying and its connectivity sux. it has no bluetooth(as usual in smasung), no infrared port and sooo many errors. the most ridiculous thing is the price. worth around$800 australain dollars, wat a rip off.

The photo caller ID feature really sucks. It only accepts photos from the embedded camera and not from any other sources. I purchased the Samsung proprietary PC data cable and installed EasyStudio only to realise that .jpg files cannot be uploaded from the PC to the mobile in the Photo folder. The only place you can upload photos is to the Image folder but images cannot be used as caller ID. Do yourself a favor: stay away from this mobile.

I returned my E800 back after 1 week trial period for the following reasons: 1) Shockingly low battery life: from 2 to 4 days depending on usage. You would be hard pressed to find a nokia with less than 10 days with similar features. 2) No GPRS menu provided for the number of KB transmitted/ received. Conclusion: you have no idea how much your service provider is going to charge you for WAP connection. 3) The small plastic cover for the charger connector is not secured to the handset. I challenge anyone who has been able to keep this part for more than one month without losing it! 4) Pics and ringtones cannot be transferred via infrared. Again, no problem with nokia. 5) Screen shuts off completely as soon as the keypad is locked. In this mode, there is no way to know whether you have any missed events. 6) When the SIM’s memory for SMS is full, the phone keeps on sending annoying "memory full" error tones while there are still 200 odd free messages on the phone's memory. 7) The default embedded ringtones are totally unacceptable in a formal business environment. Due to 4), the purchase of a data cable is required to load new ringtones. 8) Bright screen display during battery recharge. This is a hindrance especially if you recharge your mobile at night in the same room. Is this a toy or a communication tool?

i just realized what the problem was. All my numbers are saved in my sim card which doesn't allow you to put photos and personalize ringtones; but once you copy to your phone you can activate these services. So if there is anyone else out there that hasn't read the manual (like myself); now you know what the problem is. Also i was informed that transferring pics or ringtones from mobile to mobile is not an option that samsung allows. However there is a program that you can insall in your PC that allows you to download things from your phone to PC and vice versa. Is this true?

i just got this phone for christmas! i love it!! the only disadvantages are: 1) the battery life is rubbish! if u like taking pictures and playing games and basically using it for a few hours, its dead by the end of the day. 2) As soon as you lock the keypad (close the phone) the screen goes off and your left with it looking like its turned off, and you can't see if you have any texts. 3) cameras not as good as i thought it would be (as it was advertised...) but its good. 4) games are quite boring...luvin bubblesmile though! but other than that its fab. and to answer your question aneta, when you take a picture of the person, select options, then set as, and it will say wallpaper or caller id, select caller id and choose the name on your phonebook!! easy as pieee. happy new year to you all! shazzzzzii xoxox

Yes the phone looks good but I am afraid this is all this phone has to offer. Cons: -Bright screen backlight stays on during battery recharge ! I don't know what the life expectancy of the screen is but surely this is a complete waste. -No Bluetooth ! -Dual band ! -Reduced battery life: 4 days standby ! I used to get at least 8 days with my previous 2 Nokia on standard battery. -No GPRS counters ! -Limited IRda functionality. Pictures & sounds cannot be downloaded or uploaded to any other IRda phones !

K, so now i've had this phone for 2 months, and it is awesome, but does lack some nokia features (my forst non-nokia in 6 years!)like u can't add a missed call or message number to a contact, u have to create a new contact, or write the number down and add it to desired contact.sounds small but does get really irritating. also there is no way of customising groups(that i can find, the manual says there is, but its not there).alarm also cant be turned of easily after snooze. (another nokia feature)pic quality isnt bad, just wondering if i should have waited for 1.3mp. I'm hoping there will be a software upgrade soon.

Guys this Phone has what everyone really needs in a mobile.The camera is one of the best cameras available specially with the flash light. And yes you can transfer files from it and to it by infrared but you need to download and install the software from samsung website and it is very easy to use.

Just another note on the difference between e810 and e800, certainly the camera functions are better on the e810 however you lose the speakerphone function on the e810. So its pretty much take your pick...

Hold you horses sanket...the only reason why E800 doesn't have 265K colour screeen is because the western phone market isn't as competitive as the Korean inner industral side...this E800 version in Korea has ALL the function that you have listed plus it can actually download mp3 files directly...it even can play movies that you get as a memory card...you just slot it in and watch...if that exact functioned phone came out here...it would cost too much...so...you know...this phone isn't that bad...it's just that I'm disappointed that the european people especially underestimate Samsung's technology just because it comes out downgraded from the actual phones...if you REALLY wanna see what Samsung can do...go to Korea and experience REAL Hi-TECH mobile phones...Nokia and the rest are WAY TOO BEHIND~! They should feel lucky that the Samsung phones in western society is down-functioned~!

just to clarify 2 questions that have been raised: firstly, it has video playback function, NOT video recording. there is a difference so dun misunderstand. secondly, it is certainly NOT a downgrade from the D410. why? cos its a sleeker design (smaller, no antenna, less squarish). its probabaly because of the small size that it is unable to have 262k colours like the D410. and by the way, the D410 is a TFD screen whereas the E800 is TFT. in singapore some shops are selling at around Rs 51700 (which is more expensive than the D410). between the 2, i definitely prefer the E800. but i must say that overall it is still very overpriced cos there is no radio, no bluetooth, only VGA camera, no video, no expansion slot, no PIM platform...whereas nokia 7210 which is about $40000 in singapore has most of the above function plus 1MP camera. but i am definitely NOT a nokia fan - i'm just stating facts.

What is the picture quality like on this phone-im used to the nokias but want a good picture quality. I can~! Although i didn't buy this particular brand phone but I bought Samsung SGH-D410 and it has EXACTLY the same 64 polyphonice ringtone and it plays mp3 files as ringtones~! Its true INNO 75 is slightly better than this phone in that INNO 75 has FM Radio and 256k screen so it is better in features. But no other phone brand can beat Samsung design so I think this one looks slightly better than INNO 75. This samsing E800 is still a great phone and definately a worthwhile investement. It has a better design than INNO 75 even though they basically look identical.

e800 has all the features you need, no phone as of yet has been built with decent video (apart from p800/900/910). The camera is absolutely quality, whereas on 6230 the camera purely sucks. 'Preview Error' when using camera is a common fault with the E700, so I guess that if your getting this problem with an E800 then it's also the same thing. It's an hardware error, loose cable/chip inside the phone.

i always feel that samsung design is very class and nice... but however when come to the function it is way too inferior to nokia... if they could include mp3 midi ringtone, mp3 player, e-mail function etc will surely be a great rival to nokia^_-

ann-marie, price depends on where you are...in singapore, cab be bought for around $900 (without contract). over-priced IMHO cos it doesn't have much functions. Nokia 7610, 6230, 7200 and 6600 has a lot more functions but cost less. SE K700i oso has more functions and cost less.

just to clarify 2 questions that have been raised: firstly, it has video playback function, NOT video recording. there is a difference so dun misunderstand. secondly, it is certainly NOT a downgrade from the D410. why? cos its a sleeker design (smaller, no antenna, less squarish). its probabaly because of the small size that it is unable to have 262k colours like the D410. and by the way, the D410 is a TFD screen whereas the E800 is TFT. in singapore some shops are selling at around $1100 (which is more expensive than the D410). between the 2, i definitely prefer the E800. but i must say that overall it is still very overpriced cos there is no radio, no bluetooth, only VGA camera, no video, no expansion slot, no PIM platform...whereas nokia 7210 which is about $800 in singapore has most of the above function plus 1MP camera. but i am definitely NOT a nokia fan - i'm just stating facts.

It a nice phone..can not go wrong..got everything accept bluetooth&mp3&tri-bands..such a small in size,i don'think SSung can squeeze too much gadgets in it..E800 may be a copy of SL55 but the good thing is SSung copys than make their phones better..!!look back at SSung phones for the last 2 years(T100/V200/P400/T500/D410/Ect...)they're all good phones..look at the other brands to see what they're doing..??nothing but bad phones..BIG/LACK OF FEATURES&EXPENSIVE..!!

Would I buy this phone? NO! Because the competition Siemens SL65 is much better value for the money. Those of you who value the built in speaker feature can choose SL65. While Samsung and LG are thinking about the built in handsfree, Nokia, Siemens and Motorola are widely implementing this feature.

It took Nokia, the "so called leading mobile phone company" ages to release a clamsell phone. Samsung were doing them before, but I suppose you would jump to conclusions and say "They're copying!" And as for Motorola.......Urgh....the C550 is enough to put me off Motorola forever. "Brand Loyalty" my ass.

i guess you'll have to do some research to see who copied off whose design.. but i do kno that most of these phones were out in korea a long time ago... but that's what business is.. they copy off each other and add a few things to make it better and different to avoid copyright laws
