  • huge difference laly there are numerious bugs in M which were fixed in N e.g the app draw over bug

  • I don't know this phone coming with no charger in the box. so seriously phone ever. and the battery is poor quality.

  • No. I was able to update it to 6.0.1 via OTA, but that's it. No further updates are available. I'm ok with Marshmallow though. There's not a big difference between M & N.

  • So i recently bought a used HTC Butterfly 3 (International version) for approx $115. This is the Taiwanese one (also known as HTC J Butterfly HTV31). Condition is pretty excellent. For the price the specs & look of the phone are pretty awesome. There are no issues whatsoever. My only gripe with it is the average battery life. Being a heavy user, i need to charge it twice a day. Still, I'm pretty satisfied with it.

  • Why is that htc butterfly3 video calling is too dark, i hardly see my face during night.

  • i love htc

  • A lovely device, I wish they would re-release it with updated specs.

  • Can i update this phone 7.0 nogut?????

  • You are better off buying a new phone.

  • Hello, How could I find a display cracked or broken htc butterfly 3 phone for parts. I want battery, motherboard and processor. anybody can help me. my email is [email protected]

  • ho w is it camera?

  • There's no version for European market. Taiwan and Japan only.

  • How did you upgrade it to 6.0.1 ? Via cable and flash software on PC or slipstream (carrier update) ? I tried everything and all updates did not help me with SMS problem. If I crossflash it to Asia (TW) model, SMS problem is gone. Are you in Asia / Japan ??

  • I just bought this phone for less 200USD at sim unlocked officially by au KDDI.. after updating to Android 6.0.1, no issue on GPS and SMS.. only battery drains faster when using heavily.. in general it is agood phone with good specs and with good price..

  • I have this phone and updated to a Android 6.0.1, no GPS issue, no SMS issue, but battery easily drained with heavy usage. In general, works very fine. I bought it for less than 200USD sim unlocked by au KDDI..

  • i think this is good phone and i already use.but there is big issue on this phone battery drain fast and GPS is not working properly.any body now how it on GPS this phone or is there some developer setting on this phone.please tell me about that

  • How to fix duo camera blocked?

  • Yes Muratura, it works in Europe, especially if you buy it for Europe market.

  • someone know if it works in europe? thank you in advance

  • Thanks in advance 4 ur answers

  • Also Minimini, battery life duration listening to music only, watching videos only and surfing d net only

  • Pls Minimini, what's the battery life of both taiwan & jap versions especially with light and heavy usage. Thanks in advance

  • I think Japanese version heats less than Taiwan. I noticed overheating when recording 4K videos, not when watching movie or so.

  • None of the phones got updated by itself - I don't know why, one phone is rooted, other isn't. I upgraded both easily using XTC2Clip as I own one so the process is simple. I see small improvements with bluetooth pairing, easyer to disconnect. As I use Yandex shell I don't see typical Android look n feel, so I can't say what else has changed.

  • Sorry for late reply... you probably got your answers, but I'll answer for the sake of the others who might google the topic. - It came unlocked S-ON. I set it to S-OFF. Ebay seller says AU unlocked it. - You can root with TWRC, yes it's worth of because you can't live with their bloatware. Two additional experiences: - Both get very hot when recording video in 4K resolution. I tested 4K recording in winter outside. - I updated both phones (Taiwan and JP) to latest Android, Marshmallow. Nothing has improved at all... I am disappointed that JP version still has issue with "+" when sending SMS. They didn't fix "+" translation when sending SMS so it's still being translated 010 which is exit code for Japan even if you travel abroad. This translation has to depend on the country and operator or should be correctly put in the ROM. I hear people manage fixing problem by replacing mms.apk or providers.apk but I don't know nor have time to try.

  • How work this phone? Sot?

  • How to upgrade to android m? Anyone please...

  • It says here Radio: No ...however, my HTC Butterfly 3 actually has radio

  • After upgrade to OS Marshmallow and download Boost+ from Play Store, I do not have any heating issues while using camera, playing games, watching video. For normally used (i.e. Call, Message, Whatsapp, browsing) my battery life performance are between 1-2 days. I can attach picture in SMS feature (rarely used). The performance after 8 months used, still great. Only issues on NFC and contact name.

  • m using the phone from last 7 months and it has 4 majour issues 1) it heats very quicly means you watch 3 videos of 6 min each and phone is hot. 2) 3gb ram, you recieves hardly 1.3-4 gb of ram after recieving the updates of apps, 3) htc apps are useless, community, connect and many which we dont even use and u cant uinstall, 4) even if you disable the apps it updates. other features like waterproof works, dustproof, i dont understand whats is the meaning of it. is it bacteria free? OS marshmallow dint recieved yet

  • how u say bro

  • dont buy any phone with Snapdragon 810. it heats and defect

  • day by day sony phones r going worst, best phones in market is one plus 3,moto g4 plus, samsung j7 prime, htc butterfly 3,i phone 5s,i phone se and 6s

  • day by day sony phones r going worst, best phones in market is one plus 3,moto g4 plus, samsung j7 prime, htc butterfly 3,i phone 5s,i phone se and 6s

  • I have the same issue , wondering between those 2

  • i'm planin to buy htc butterfly 3.But im a little confused. Is HTC butterfly or sony ericson xperia M5 a better option?

  • Why this htc desire butterfly 3 have problem about heating and automactlly restarting does any one know about that ?? :-|

  • I love mine

  • No issues here with restarts just warm wouldn't even say hot but getting there what are you running since Marshmallow update all seems good 👌

  • Don't buy this phone at all. it heats a lot like hell and it will restart automatically while playing games and while using camera. Such a worst phone I ever seen. I suggest you not to buy this phone.

  • Hey, Yes this phone does get hot at times when your updating a lot of apps or playing games. Its not crashed or done anything due to heat but you do notice on the back top right when holding it but that's down to the CPU from what a lot of people sat about the SnapDragon 810.

  • Does anyone of you face an over heating issue during working on it,plz help me? How is the battery life if any pronlem in this phone?

  • Dear Butterfly 3 users, Does anyone of you face an over heating issue during working on it, because i have a very bad experience with this issue in my sony xperia ZR ??, thank you

  • Dear Butterfly users, Does anyone of you face over heating issue in this device, because i have a very bad experience with this issue in my sony xperia ZR , thank you

  • Hi, I live in the UK and just ordered this phone. Due here in about a week or two will give you an update if you still need it when I have it.

  • I'm gonna buy a butterfly 3. is there anyone who has hands on experience? I'm lil bit scared of buying this as it seems there's not a good market for this phone. please help me people..should I buy this or if not what is the best alternative phone?

  • It is? Did they fix a problem?

  • type the name correct...

  • it's 2016 who send's sms?

  • butterfly 3 is a very nice phone. But why single sim?

  • i also get the phone in srilanka htv31 but it will restarting some times. in today its switch offed automatically now its not working.. but phone will getting little heat.

  • Yes/ No MMS feature in SMS option. If you wanna attach a picture to your SMS - you CAN'T do it. It's NO attach symbol in mobile screen. Is it clear? Can you help in this matter????? I visited two mobile dealers and they confirmed this problem.

  • Butterfly 3 beats all of your options for your next phone. Rethink about it.

  • Hmm! I seriously doubt if mms is a feature to exclusively add in a smart phone anymore... I mean, it's to send media files right? Just saying. Really wish I could help though.

  • Hi guys. Recently bought this device. I like red color. I live in Australia. Discovering this phone I found one problem - NO MMS option in SMS feature. Anybody can help me with this issue????? Visited two Vodafone dealers and nobody could help me. So I can't attach any picture to SMS and send to anybody. I know it's strange BUT the truth. Shop assistants tell me to use alternative way such as What's up, Viber or simply email it. But in reality it's not really comfortable when you gonna send text and add a picture you need to use other source. Any ideas???? Please answer or send me information to email - [email protected] Thanks.

  • Htc one of the best

  • there are some ebay sellers with the Butterfly 3 J say it does 4K video recording others say 1080p, are there 2 versions?? how to know which one is 4K before you buy?!

  • This is a great phone. I have bought the Japanese version for my wife from EBay in the UK. It was super cheap at only £240!! After Initial set up, I spent a good hour or so disabling all the AU network and Asia based bloatware. Once that was done you have a really good phone with amazing specs and a very nice camera. OH there is an issue with the Jap version, with the GPS not working. You will need to follow this link download the file and follow the instructions.txt within it to fix that issue (requires 10 mins with a PC). Other than that it works like a dream.

  • bro..because of the snapdragon 810 processor. try to avoid this processor when u buy ur next phone :)

  • yes dude you must watch this site htclokaya.lk

  • I m not sure but this Monday update android 6 ses.7

  • Did u update new version? Use it without 4g mode. You can use more than 15h with Internet.

  • Really? I have too concerns, the battery and the camera. And what do you mean with "in general". This seems to be the most competent htc phone yet, how much would you recomend it?

  • can any one please help me with this; i got a butterfly 3 that is the japanese version htv31 in sri lanka.i bought it last month.it was sealed packed phone.but i saw later "s off" on boot loader.is that mean this has been used before?now i have an issue with the battery.battery is draining so fast.when i full charg it i can only use it for 5 hours even without connecting to internet.can somebody explain me?thanks

  • Amazing phone, I've been using it and I found is very complete. The experience in general is good, amazing screen and sound quality, good camera as well. I totally recommend it, the experience in general will be good. also this phone has goo pricing.

  • Yeah, I'm concern about that too, it's sad I didn't find any battery case for this unit online.

  • I'm trying to decide which temporal phone to get my hands on. Butterfly 3 vs Desire Eye, I said temporal because I'm actually looking foward for a Flagship 2016 phone, maybe the G5, Note 6, the next V from Lg, or even the next Xperia. Time will tell, but meahwhile, I want an acceptable device. This are the best 2 from htc btw

  • Screen size depends on the person , i prefer 5.5 - 6 inch , because i use it in Hospital to read to search etc.. but this phone is very expensive , when the price will drop .. :/

  • When it will drope.. we are in 2016 :/

  • is it's body in metal like HTC ONE family or another material ??

  • Has it been released in Asia ?

  • This phone is good. But the price is almost same with I Phone 6s. this is the problem.

  • i want this mobile

  • U can get This Phone Cheapest Price In Sri Lanka Compare With Other Retailers Big Price Different In Srilanka Biggest Smart Phone Branded Showroom Dialcom.lk

  • The battery in this phone is the same capacity as the Butterfly 2 (that has a lower resolution screen and lighter processor) . So I have concerns of the battery life of Butterfly 3.

  • hi there , how much did you buy it in shenzhen ?? is it locked or unlocked device ? how can i buy it ?

  • may i ask how much did you buy it ?? how's the phone ? is it worth ?

  • dude as that even English XD

  • Can anyone who owns this phone post a review or simply his impressions about it? How's the proccessor, is it heating like the SD810 usually does? How's battery life? Camera? Thanks.

  • this phone have advance features so i purches 2 phone one me and one my gf

  • Yes it had been released in Japan & Taiwan, i already bought 3 pcs of this amazing mobile phone while i was in Shenzhen, China last month.

  • HTC is better than sony

  • sony is better than htc

  • Is this a great phone ? How's the water proof ? Between butterfly 3 and the sony xperia z5 which one is better?

  • Dearest gsmArena followers and friends.Truely speaking,a high end product among some downgraded incomplete HTC products with the chance of upgrading to android 6 marshmallow is incredible and amazing as the result of Indians smartly endevours as the best genius commentators in the world!!!I could have been better with the world standard of 5.5 inches screen,snapdragon820,bluetooth 4.2+++,plus not too unaffordable highest price....Unfortunately nobody in HTC reads and cares about factwriting reviews, comments, opinions, etc.of GSMARENA!!Why!?No strong careful public relations!!Results:Benefits in Q3 and Q4 of 2015!!!Dearest HTC,People are todays are very smart and ask from many sources before purchasing!!No more X++++Please, instead update and upgrade your products before complete xxxx!!I myself love to have the high end butterFly3 even for my largest virtul museum and enjoying using it besides BF1and BF2++++Thanks gsm factwriting to publish the facts and HTC to listen++++Good luck the happiest BF3 oweners...O.K.P

  • Hey, me too. I got mine from japan KDDI au but not yet openline so there's no way i can use this phone here in my country which is the philippines. I dont know where and how much will i spend to openline or factory unlock this unit.

  • i love this phone so many fetuchres

  • Amazing super phone! Excellent design and high end specs, and water proof!. Totally recommend this beauty!

  • available only in Taiwan ?

  • ı want to see review about this monster...

  • Please review it.

  • Yes is dual camera. Gorilla glass 4. Not heating really unless you chargevon quick charge 2.0 plus load work but any phone would do that. Got yesterday ao still playing around.

  • hi can u make it to 4gb ram and battery make it to 3000 to 3200 mAh

  • It has a dual rear camera or not ? What about gorilla glass? What about heating due to snap dragon 810 ?

  • Minimini please write more things about phone in UK. Was unlocked in Japan? How is best to sort sms? Is worth to root and get rid bloatware? Thank you in advance!

  • What's the battery life like? In a position where I can purchase the TW international version, but not if that battery sucks. Let me know bro

  • I got one from Japan, operator au, KDDI. Rooted it to remove japanese bloatware. Phone runs smooth, doesn't overheat despite of Snapdragon 810. It has IR, NFC, TV receiver, Radio Receiver, and antenna is plugged in stereo jack. 128GB micro sd works perfectly. Camera is ok, but expected a lot more from 20MP, night shots if taken without flash have noise. It's too tightly coupled with Japanese market (e.g. TV receiver asks me which region of Japan i wanna scan; also NFC contact-less payment is in Japanese which wants you to open account there, but it reads UK bank cards (HSBC in my case, can pay taxi with it)). Texting (SMS) has issues with "+" (international exit code); probably operator drivers were buggy, no fix yet for "+", waiting for update or use it without "+" and just add "00" as exit code in your contacts. Everything else works fine. There is Taiwan version of the same phone (they can be converted by some super-experts on web), Taiwan version is without NFC, TV receiver, it's not au KDDI branded, less bloatware. Texting works well in all parts of world. I would totally recommend this phone due to fantastic hardware features IF there was an International version... I love possibility to pay taxi in UK with NFC or watch what's on local TV when I go abroad... great toy.

  • big like

  • i mean, this phone is better than lg g4.

  • But butterfly 3 has a screen of 2K resolution, which is much more power consuming than the previous generation.

  • I mean, the battery hehehe

  • one of the most perfect phones.butterfly3 has every thing that u need.good camera in back and front+high hardware and very good screen and monster amplifier speakers.also butterfly3 is equipped with water proof and dust resistance and .... I,m waiting for drop price then will go for it with head

  • butterfly battery was the best and I have had butter s and butterfly 2 and both of them have the best battery life

  • best phone of htc ever...with high camera regulation & selfy camera! best software & hardware...bt battery life is not so good...bt its ok... go & grab it :-)

  • HTC will never prosper unless they put high mAh batteries on flagships.. 2700mah for 5.2 inch QHD, are you out of sense?

  • THis Phone's camer superb but battery ????? overall not bad.....

  • this phone is beauty and have good hard ware and software and also use new version of sp810 this phone is the best of htc

  • i know goo look but its processor like pressure cooker and microwave

  • And then what? Do you mean it died? I don't understand.

  • My butterfly 3 lasted for a day...

  • Htc butterfly is the best lineup from htc which can make profit for them, because they kinda messed up lately just like sony... And htc should really decrease their smartphone prices they were too expensive to be fail

  • Saw some reviews on Japanese sites about the phone; It has an unusual problem of heat, and the battery lasts for 5 hours~, with about 2 and a half hours on SOT. Absolutely disappointing, I had high hopes for this device, but what can you expect from a Quad HD screen, SD801 processor and a 5.2" large screen with 2700mah battery. HTC should really rethink their releases.

  • the most underrated perfect smartphone

  • with an exception of Z5 compact

  • 2700 mAh battery ????? Really ?????

  • It's already 2015..... Popular phone companies won't make their flagship smartphones that small. Like Samsung's flagship phones are the S6 (5" inch) and Note5 (5.7"), Apple with the 6s (4.7") and 6s Plus (5.5"), LG and the G4 (5.5"), V10 (5.7"), etc...... So judging by all these phone screen sizes I am 80% sure the butterfly 3 won't be 4.5".

  • Was so close to acquire one of these phones. Had a bid on ebay for it and someone outbid me in the last 8 seconds. :( Damn... This phone is so hard to find!

  • when it is releasing ?

  • yeah , I can say its a great design but the camera in the middle of the top of the fone stink baby, I know its HTC's design but it stink

  • Best Best with the best Design. Top of the world. waiting for the availability.... :)

  • If you want phone having following features: -water resistant (to protect your investment a bit) -IR blaster (convenience, airco, tv - all in one) -SD card extension -newer camera and newer cpu +6 cores your options are very limited. HTC is the only one I find, excluding galaxy S5 which you cant find any longer. I need this HTC.

  • GSMArena will you review this device when it's officially released? I'm thinking about buying this device and I'm not sure that the battery life will be good with that capacity and a QHD screen. Also Snapdragon 810 is a major bummer so I'm still torn.

  • you are absolutely right awilliam..the perfect size phone should be. between 4.5" to 5"...most important thr honour have to add morr feature does not matter however price of that.

  • Dnt be stupid guys can url not see that the phone has not been released as yet so how would any1 knw if the battery life is good or not that's the reason they have specifications here like der...........

  • it doesn't have flash on front

  • plz this htc butterfly 3 has a flash on the front of camera i need to before i get its any one have ideal plz help

  • Anyone has this phone yet? How is the battery life?

  • hi this phone is beautiful but htc phone is expensive i hope become cheap

  • I hope this has a dual sim version on the future.

  • Very nice. Just tooooo big. Good for some but I think a good sweet spot for many is 4.7 - 5 in a body no more than 130mm - 140mm. Hope for A9 but it already looks like the body itself will be too big.

  • drop the plastic and maybe more ppl would be intrested...even me though its too late bcause i made up my mind to change.

  • well the first Japanese release was with beats audio ! does the worldwide release still has Beats Audio ?! or not?!

  • that ugly plastic cover!!! with 2700 mah battery RIP htc

  • Simply prefect. Memory retrieving model of HTC will rock in the hands of serious android mobile users. A little heavy though 161g. I will miss OIS feature. 2700 mah battery won't disappoint with rapid charging facility. I expect the same super fast performance from htc to make its ancestors proud.

  • HTC ,we are very much proud of you. i just like your devices. true detailed picture quality and an excellent general performance. but try improving your battery technology and dont be taking FM radio from your phones. just love HTC.

  • Is There be heating issues in htc butterfly 3 like m9 .Bcoz of dnapdragon 810

  • a perfect phone.cpu and gpu are great, ipx certification, very good camera and rear and front, sound is excellent like other htc high end.screen is good too and look at battery stamina in both standby and usage.thanks htc it's really great

  • but butterfly series have the best battery backup.my butterfly s stands for near 2 days with high usage and if usage was normal its battery gave charge for 3 days.with call and sms butterfly s has 4days back up. butterfly 2 has good battery too but not as butterfly s. my friend butterfly 2 has the better battery backup in compare to galaxy s6 and g4 and g3. why u tell every thing without thinking before it?! htc butterfly series always have had one of the best battery. for sure you have no any butterfly.so don't make giddy other person.be faithful

  • Well htc is doing better but htc should provide flash for front camera too and decrease the screen size its too big atleast 4.5 is good.....

  • This is a good question too. Let's hope, there will be more smart phones, with stereo speakers(and I hope they will not make them too large).

  • htc will be not success, always having battery issue..because the batteries are so expensive that htc company will be not afford..

  • are you crazy? without on your hands or other hands, how you say it's ugly???

  • ugly design. htc lost their mind

  • Too thick

  • im with you, man, I cant understand why such a basic feature was forgotten (almost every phone came without it, except for some HTC and Sony), I think it was the boom in data plans, but theres still people who cant afford a data plan, and rely only from WiFi to access the internet. I just want to plug in my headphones and listen to the radio without wasting my data. Another feature I cant undestand why its so underestimated its the front speakers, one of the most popular usages of the smartphones its watch videos; Why manufacturers make a phone throwing sound backwards? I dont understand why its so unpopular :s

  • Would you please stop this? I know what I am saying. People wants Fm radio.

  • Beatyful phone, only needs more battery, like all HTC phones, low battery, when they do learn that -.-

  • if the phone is too thick then look at other chioces

  • Butterfly rules !! Dont care about what others think . keep doing awesome smartphones HTC is metaL !

  • so you own this phone?

  • yes that battery wont last more than 24 hrs. on standby and 10 hours on usage as note 4 with qhd screen is max. 1 day with moderate to heavy usage and 12 hours on heavy usage. so battery for QHD screen should be 3000+ atleast.

  • why butterfly phone so thick

  • Then u better buy a RADIO rather than hp. :-D

  • 2700 mAh with QHD ????????? what kind of joke it is ?

  • The specification is so tempting to me but the capacity of the battery is too small which cannot last at least half of a day while I am continuously using the phone. I think the largest defect in HTC phones is that the battery capacity is too small and it is not removable for users to change the battery with a fully-charged one.

  • make sure HTC, shitdragon will run cooler in use, and GSMArena, compare this with lg nexus 5x, xperia z5 & iphone 6s!!! waiting for their "supreme camera"

  • No optical stabilization!!!!!!!they made 30(why not 31)???????bah!!!!!!

  • No phone can beat sony xperia z5 premium

  • I already owned this model, color blue, came out in japan a few months ago. The speaker is much louder than M8.

  • why are companies omiting OIS??

  • No radio. Strange, really strange!

  • Amazing HTC I'm big fun of this specification keep up

  • Can any one tell me is it launching in India.I am a long time HTC fan currently I use one m7.hope HTC launches in India

  • Surprisingly it's HTC......!!!!!

  • Well this one has everything what I need except a HTC one body which I like so mch....now only the battery life and pricing should be good...and I m almost in

  • Imo nice design, for a cyclops. :)

  • Finally, a decent device from HTC.. Too bad the design kinda sux..

  • no way to buy this chip

  • its gonna be quite the wait lol yeah it is pretty gud wish they released it at that price I would pick one up as well lol

  • i do not understand why htc produces this phone ? It differs from M9 in which specs ? almost the same. Waste of resources......

  • Great specs! Now I'm waiting for it to fit in my $350 budget.

  • How have you not noticed this is how the market is going?

  • 10mm => QHD => 2700mAh Seriously HTC???
