First of all, the phone is horrible in terms of performance with 1 GB of RAM and not leaving behind its camera stablization. That wasnt my main concern to be honest. Since I normally use it for the google applications; Drive, keep, youtube and etc. Now, here's the main problem. The screen cracked from the power button dow. I didnt drop it or hit it. I took care of it just like my other belongings. Hardly any scratches or dents that were found on my phone. It's just out of a sudden that it cracked! Just clarifying, im not making this up. So, those of you who are contemplating of getting this phone. Please dont. Save your money for something which is of a better quality and performance. Thank you.

I used HTC desire 816g(16GB) & also 8GB, according to me both the devices are best, there is not a single issue either with camera, selfie stick, wifi . They make a perfect phone but the HTC lags behind only in the case of updates means fail to give latest updates rest if you need spend money for 1 time & want to have for long time, then go for HTC, i used for 2 years many cases happend like fall from 2 floors, into water but after dried running at its best. Now i am missing it as i have lost it.

It's been almost 2 years since release of HTC 816g but the phone is yet to get an Android 5.x update. You may have to wait forever for an update so better switch to Motorola, Samsung or others.

Decent phone with reasonable features in a mid range segment. No htc sense mind you and no upgrade from kitkat 4.4.2 till date.... i m using this handset for almost two years, its worth the money wid good sound quality, average camera, nice viewing angles for watching videos movies, good battery backup as well. playing high end games is a absolute NO in this device... still u can enjoy all low graphic games in this handset. Lacks inbuilt storage and phone upgrades are slower than snails from htc for this device.... its elder sibling desire 816 is far better device than this one.

It is possible that one of the apps has lot of data in its folders stored in the primary storage. Data may be mostly pertaining to media files of whatsapp or FB or other social networking apps. Check up in the miscellaneous option under storage settings. Transfer to SD card or delete as much of this data. It should sort out your dialer issues.

I too was facing the same problem with my 816g and I tried factory reset but it did not work then I switch off the phone and then long press power button and volume low button and then select cache partition option by using low volume button and select using volume+ button and the select reboot option This thankfully worked for me it may work for u too Thank u

Poor camera .This phone's camera is so blurry.I always end up with taking blurred pictures.Front camera is also so blurry and i could not take large selfies.Display is 720p hd but this phone's screen works great in sunlight.Battery life is poor.Phone sometimes overheat.It only haves 1GB Ram.It never get lollipop update.I think reason for no update is only 1GB Ram.Only has 3g.I buyed this phone and now I am very irritated with this phone.Not recommend to anyone.

Do not purchase this phone. May be one of the worse HTC phones ever! 8GB on board storage will get filled up in a blink of an eye and you won't be able to download more apps nor even update the ones you already have! I'm kind of relieved that mine cracked and stopped working. And IF it cracks even once, you have to look for a replacement LCD because it also manages to kill the touch sensors. The 1GB or RAM is so useless and causes the phone to lag so fast! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!

When I benchmarked the mobile on Antutu the mobile rating was 32000. It is below those smartphones which are having 2GB ram. But in the 1gb ram slot.This mobile is a champion. Camera Quality is a lil bit disappointing coz the images are not upto the mark as htc is showcasing new technology in sound and camera. Processor is good I found out that in some mobiles they have used Snapdragon processor in some and mediatek in some. GPU is adreno. I am luckty to have a snapdragon chipset. lol... I am playing HD games. Marvel Champions Injustice . Asphalt 8 there was no lag . Although there is heating problem in the handset. when you play alot. It is necessary. BooM X technology is awesome but not comparable to Beats audio. So all in all its a wonderful phone. And If you want to enjoy bass Use Skullcandy Inked or Sony Headphones. Also nokia In earphones works wonder with them. Am planning to update the phone myself to Cyanogen 11 coz sadly it can be updated to lollipop. I guess...So Great performance Wise Above Avg in camera. and great again in sound and display.

I bought this phone in August 2015 and after 1-1.5 months I started facing problems with the SIM. I replaced the nano SIM twice as advised saying it is problem with the SIM. It does not detect network 70-80% of time and I am not able to receive, and make urgent calls, or send messages. I am most of the times disconnected. Finally I have to buy another number and carrying another cell for emergency. Recently, I went to the mobile shoppe and they made a statement that it could be problem with the device and advised me to go to HTC service center. I've had the phone for a year. Overall great phone. Good battery life, great display. And i like the camera. However. The side button got damaged after 2 months use. I had to get it replaced. Apparently it is common because there are blogs about it. Internet speed is decent for not being 4g. I did not like that if you use sim 2, it kills internet and incoming calls on sim 1. Im looking to replace it mainly because of these things. Speaker quality is not so good, but ok for quality, just low volume. One thing I like is that I have dropped this phone many times and the screen is resistant. The plastic takes the beating well. I dont like that you cant transfer apps to the sd card. My memory is almost full... Hope this info helps.

Problem starts with phone ring lost in 2nd month and went for 15 days repair and on same day when i took it back, on screen many strips are showing and within 2 week i again submit it for repair and it took almost 10 days to get repaired and unfortunately on same day when i took back its charger stopped working so i am going to replace it. Guys and Girls, please read this review before going for HTC Desire 816G. I bought this phone in December 2014. A month wid this phone was really good. But later the first problem came with the charger. I took min 10 days for replacement. After that when Android L launched, i tried to update my phone but this phone dont have any update above Ver.4.4.2. I talked to the customer representative they told me that their developers are still working on new updates. However i dont have any update till now and stillmy phone is on the same version told above. Coming to the hardware, Its having Mediatek processor. When i was going to buy this phone i saw its specifics on official HTC website, its showing Qualcomm Snapdragon processor so i go for it but after puchasing i found that it dont have Qualcomm processor. When i get back to the website, they removed details about processor only 1.3ghz was written. HTC is a fraud and lying with their customers. And one more thing. I have to replace my charger every month as my phone says use original HTC charger, your charger is slow. So, i recommend u dont buy mid range HTC phones coz u'll defeneatly regret at some point. Iam going to sell my phone soon.

But there's no physical damage. There's don't even have a single scratch or mark my tempered glass and screen of the mobile.. I suggest please don't go for HTC mobile...very bad experience.

If you are having HTC desire 816 G with octacore processor then the storage must be 16 GB,but we get total space of 11.58 GB due to the pre-installed applications from htc . So I hope you must be having any other phone than octacore . I know this all because I am having HTC desire 816 G octacore.

It's not 13mp, when I checked the settings, it's just 8mp. The battery drains too fast, and it heats and slows. Sometimes, it malfunctions too. and I just had this less than 2 months. Bad phone! :(

hello...pls i bought this phone early this July and now i realized i can't change from front camera to back camera. the option has evn disappeared. Few days before...I noticed sometimes it would be difficult for my camera to open...i tried rebooting and it stil would not open, though it started working later on. But now...this happened! Desire 816g is a good phone and doesn't lags but..It does have bending problem. I had kept it in my jeans and at the end of the day i saw it and was horrified to my bones..It was bent!!!!

Hey readers, am using the htc desire 816g dual sim for over seven months now and believe me the ph is just awesome !! Many have posted here about some lag issues but i truely found none..not even for a second the ph got hanged nor there was any lag. The webpages open pretty fast and the htc touch sense is really great. To be honest before buying this ph i was a bit confused as i used to be a reguar samsung ph user but thank god i shifted to htc. The first advantage of being a htc user over samsung is it's prolonged battery life. Htc 816g has got a very good battery juice and i must mention that while on sleep mode (when you are not using the ph) it looses very very little battery power...just 2-3% power goes down after eight to nine hours of standby. That's really great! Another point which made me think twice before going for this device is it's processer. This device uses a mediatec processor which is usually believed to be used in cheaper or low end phones but am really very happy to inform that mediatec does a super job here...htc has really being successful of optimizing mediatec's smoothness in this device. Many may think about the much high end qualcomm snapdragon processor used in it's elder version (desire 816) but snapdragon has major heating issues...which will tend your ph to shut down often and even will reduce the battery life. The snapdragon users often complain that their ph gets heated excessively after playing games for over half an hour or continuisely doing net for over thirty mins but the mediatec processor used in desire 816g has no heateing issues at all...even if you are on net over more than three hours or playing games for one and half hour or more...till today i havent experienced any heating issues not even for a sec. The design of the ph is awesome and it surely has the premium look. People on road or in bus cant resist their heads to turn on your device and give a jealous look at you which is really enjoyable for the owner. Am not going into the detailed specification reviews as users can watch video reviews on you tube at igyaan where all the featers are explained exclussively. One more thing i must mention here is about its connectivity. I have seen that many users have mentioned that the primary nano sim only support 3G while the secobdary nano sim supports only 2G in this device which is TOTALLY A WRONG INFORMATION!! You have the option to choose which sim you want to use as 3G and you can even shift the 3G connectivity from sim 1 to sim 2 or vice versa without taking the sims out from their slots.So plz dont get disappointed of those fake news!! Another important thing i must suggest to my readers is to buy a "fresh new" nano sim instead of cutting your normal sim into a nano one cause if the cut is not acurate enough then the sim can get jammed in the sim tray slot which will make it very difficult to push in or to take out, moreover it can permanently damage the sim''s silver contacts thus may giving issues in connectivity. Overall i will say that you can blindly go for it...a very good use of money and i can assure you that you wont be thinking of any brands other than Htc there after If you have any question can mail me. Hey all, since some days i m having charging issue. Its not charging continuosly. I have to press power button after every few minuts, then only it charges, otherwise it sruck witg exclamation mark on bettery. But it charges continuosly on laptop or pc. I had hard reset my phone twice, but problem persists. Main problem is that, i addressed this issue to htc via email, but no answer. Calling to call centre, but no one picks up the call for half an hour. No onr comes to chat for customer care. I have worst experience with htc regarding customer care. When we go to service center, they do not resolve the issue immidiately, they take our phone and ask to come back aftr 15-20 days. What shall we do without phone for 20 days??? Samsung has best after sales. HTC's is a service like small local brand or non brand. Would never but HTC again. Worst ever experince. :-(

Same here sowmya. Very very poor service. I am from chennai. My HTC 816 mobile started to drain in few(less than 30) minutes and it took long time(more than 5hrs) to recharge. I gave my HTC 816 mobile for service on 16 April 2015 at Gemini Parson Complex, Anna salai, Chennai. I waited for 1hr 35 minutes to reach the service fellow. Then he started asking for original purchase bills which I did not had at that time. Later He gave me the service report with ID Q2S15041600062. He said mobile needs to be tested and fixed, and it will be delivered by next day(17th April) 10AM. He asked me to call the telephone number +914442381027(printed in the service report sheet) to get the status and visit the service center to collect my mobile. From that day I have called more than 30 times. Its ringing nobody is picking the call and it goes to busy state many times. I went to service center on 17th April 11AM. They made me to wait for 40minutes and said mobile is not yet ready. I asked for other telephone number which they will pick and answer me but they rejected to give. They said they will call me if the mobile is ready. Still now I did not receive any calls from them. It takes 1 hour to reach the service center amidst of that traffic prone zone. Now I have to go again to that hell and beg for my mobile. I have never seen a worst service like this. In these 2 days I saw more than 20 people shouting at the service fellows for their problems. Again On Saturday (18th April) I went to service center, as usual they asked me to wait in the queue, after 30 minutes I reached the service representative. He said your mobile is not ready yet. He said problem is not with battery, its with the power button. He said It will take another 10 days to fix this issue since he don t have spare parts( power button ) in stock. He asked me to come back after 10 days to check the status. I asked why he did not inform this over phone (I would not have travelled that long) --- He did not answer I asked why are you not picking the calls --- He did not answer I said 10 days is too long, already I spent 3 days without mobile. --- He said you need to wait if you want to get it fixed or you can take the mobile back. I asked for a spare mobile - He rejected I asked to replace my mobile - He rejected I said I want to meet the customer service manager who is responsible for this - He rejected. I asked for the written status of my mobile - he refused to give. I asked what should I do finally - He said leave your mobile and come back after 10 days to check the status. Finally I took my mobile to bangalore service center. There also I faced the same problem.I received my mobile after 2 weeks with lots of pain & travel People who are planning to buy HTC mobile, please try to search for HTC service center in google(You can't find it), just visit it and stay there for 5 minutes , you will not get that though to buy HTC mobiles.

Hi Friends. I have taken HTC Desire 816 mobile in nov 2014. this was the biggest wrong choice i have ever done. I was using a single sim (though it has got duel sim option), last month the sim got ejected automatically, i tried inserting it back but it was not fitting properly, so there was not network, and i use to get no sim inserted message. further i started using 2nd sim slot, it was fine. after 20 days, the same problem started with 2nd sim slot. I wanted to take the mobile to service center as the mobile was in warranty period, i searched for Service center address and number the land line number updated was not working. finally visited the service center in south end circle. for my surprise i could meet more than 6 customers having the same problem of sim not getting inserted. the service center people are so rude to customers, after waiting for more than 30 minutes, they attended me and told they need more than 8 working days to solve the issue (they refuse to give stand by mobile, as they have no stock). when asked for contact number they told there is a problem with landline and gave one mobile number. now today is my due date to receive my mobile, the given mob number is diverted and not getting connected. finally tried calling customer care (took the number from website), friends guess what, even that number not in use. tried for live chat, the moment we say service center number problem they logout from live chat. This is what HTC brand Quality. I have been cheated. so please do not chose HTC branded product in your life time.

To start .. HTC phones are much better in many ways than other androids,and as for this phone, its smooth, fast and stable. games and apps working gr8. camera not as good as a 13MP should be, sound loud and clear. but 8G of memory is a huge limitation . like A HUUUUUUGE limitation , soon your out of memory and mostly hard or can't root it, so no easy way to delete useless and memory eating logs and thumbs . before lollipop with 200mb free memory , phone working gr8 after lollipop and with 450mb free memory , phone is no longer fast or smooth. not many developers working on programs suited for HTC Desire in general . so can't do as many advanced changes or tweaks on it as Samsung devices . if you have one (DON'T GO FOR LOLLIPOP IF LOW ON MEMORY) after Lollipop no root. I'v been using this phone for the about 5 months .. other than the root issue and 8G memory .. it's gr8

You r really a Pappu. U can setting it up for 13 MP Camera. In Camera setting change the preview size from Full Screen to 4:3. Then change the megapixel 8MP to 13MP. Done!

I am a owner of HTC 816G dual sim and HTC 620G dual sim. U cannot compare with Iphone 6 or Samsung S 6. Please compare apple to apple. This is about the best you can get at this price range. No such problem like overheating, phone hang or camera issue. Sometimes people just write unbelievable stupid things that only shows you have very limited knowledge about the phone. HTC has been around for very long time producing touchscreen phones and do you think they will produce a phone that has so much problem and not able to sell to any consumers. I was also facing the same problem of camera then I had word with the customer care and advised me the following steps and that really worked: settings>camera settings>change the preview size 4:3 after applying it will change to 13 MP.

I myself am using the htc desire 816g for over 4 months and i found no such problems mentioned above..the ph is just awesome in all aspects...sometimes other company employe's are given "task" to write faulty reviews to down the market value of their rivals...i think the comments given above is one such. You can clearly go for the ph blindly. In all these nonths i haven't faced even a single hanging issue.. htc's booming sound quality is just superb...camera is awesome too...

Number one worst mobile... i am using HTC desire 816 dual sim mobile from past 8 months ... following are the problems i faced. 1) No network ... even near the signal tower. 2) Touch abnormal functioning. 3) Low voice to listener while on call... 4) Low battery backup. 5) Very delicate.. Here one great issue is there.. with the above problems I have given my mobile in HTC service center (Ammerpet, Hyd), They informed me after troubleshooting, will send sms .. I never get. I planed to call on HTC service center office land line number� they never attend the cal.. I visited service center personally � they said again we will sms you.. after troubleshooting�. So when they will send sms�???? No time spam� after a year??? only god only know�. We have to pray the god for that�. Finally it is worst � service provided by HTC� (TVS electronics Ltd)� So I request all of you.. to not buy any HTC product�.. (U will same your money and Time�)

Really a worst phone... 1) HTC any model is No option of Battery changing... hence you need to change u r phone when battery is dead. 2) Camera quality realy poor.. first of all it's 13MP for sure, you just need to change your camera aspect ratio setting in camera options. By default it is 16:9 you can change it to 4:3 then it will show 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. second thing, camera is not bad, it is a pretty decent average camera. and it's come with "HTC Sense" but not full HTC Sense skin. always do read carefully before buying electronic items.

On the box they say the camera is 13 mp but it actually is 8 mp, and the 8 mp is even of bad quality, very poor quality. the front is 4 mp instead of 5 mp. It does not come with original htc software skin ( htc sense). am very disappointed i with it come bundled with useful software. With the $250 price tag in Dubai i think desire 816 g could have add the user memory from 3.8 GB to at-least 8 - 9 GB and the RAM is only 1 GB. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying it because it feel too cheap than it is priced.

first go to camera> camera settings> preview size> standard(4:3). nw u can change the size of picture to 13m pxls...thnxx

yes it does support OTG. pedrives, mouses, everything works great in my htc desire 816g

In Egypt ... Agent HTC Corporation has receieved a lot of complaints about the problem of touching the screen in HTC dssire 816 dual sim ... so the agent asked users to attend to the company's headquarters to check the phones or change phones if they can't solve the problem ...

Boom Sound is awesome...! Camera quality is just fine,though daylight photographs are to good....! The phone never hangs and has never heated up for me...! The battery lasts about two days on Wi-Fi,overall I would recommend this product since I couldn't discover any problems...! moreover,the phone looks so sleek and amazing,I've seen people stare at my phone more then they stare at me :D

Not at all! 816g is not a bad ph at all.!! Frm 2011 im using android dats y thinking to switch to other os.!! N change the aspect ratio from full to 4:3 then it vl show 13mp

Go with Microsoft lumia 640 xl launch last of month. Htc 816g octacore Zooming image problem touch problem .13mp camera but in settings its only 8 mp. Slow connection of Wi-Fi. worst battery backup. Phone over heating. This is really problem of the phone and then your choice

I m using this phone last two month. Suddenly touch screen not working properly. Have to press key several times. Tried by reset, restart but no improvement. It is made by Taiwan for Vietnam region. I bought it from Bangladesh, no HTC customer care here, so can't claim warrenty.

bloody phone comes with 16gb internal but 11gb user space,most of the app cannot be moved to sd card, no nfc and no dlna support. battery drains very soon, camera quality is waste, i preffer sony c3

I bought this phone about a week ago. People might get confused about having a low internal memory causing trouble in functionality of the phone. But it is uterly incorrect . This has been compensated by octacore processing. camera is not too bad. app processing is excellent. I am not over loading my games and stuff . So ina a nutshell it is a good phone to buy.

Yes exactly. The lagging of the camera is hardly noticeble and the camera quality outdoor is AMAZING ,but the camera quality indoor is okyish and standard. Not too excellent and too bad either. Just enough to take a descent good picture.

The only downfall is that the camera laggs a little. And the picture quality is okyish ,not bad but not something to be awe-strucked about. The processor is pretty fast. Everything else is good too.

I think 816G is a pretty good phone. Bought it in january and uptil now i find now problems in it. It has an internal memory of 8GB and 1 GB ram .there is a difference in ram and internal memory. The only thing that pissed me off was that the camera quality aint that good. Its ookyish. :/
