HTC One (M8) for Windows - User Reviews

  • y???

  • I rather have WP instead of Android.

  • Be careful if you want to buy the M8, 100% for sure you may want the Android version, but many sellers in eBay are vague about what OS it's in the M8 for sale, so make sure it's not the ugly version and probably a good start is the price, if it's very cheap, most likely comes with WP.

  • Nope... HTC have no more updates. 8.1 only. By Windows insider it can be updated to win10, but until July 29th only.

  • Why yes you can, just become an insider. Works beautifully, and love the htc running win 10.

  • Hi bro, i am using Lumia 730 since 2 months & till now i havent faced any heating issues. It happens very rarely that screen heats up just a bit, not more. I am a very heavy user, playing Subway surfer almost for 1 hour everyday, surfing & chatting continuosly for whole day & battery life is also pretty much awesome, it gets me around 10-12 hours with single charge. & i use it even when the phone is in charging. & none of the users of L730 are complaining about heating issues. I think this issue has been solved in Denim update which is pre-installed in phones. If u still wanna make sure, ask about the heating issue in Lumia 730 user opinions.

  • ITS Google's fault not releasing google apps on windows phone. Dbags

  • I recently got my phone. I miss my HTC One (M7) This phone sucks. I am a very savvy tech user, in that I work on a HelpDesk. I cant get this phone to do anything I want. I plug it into my PC, it does not even get recognized, never mind installing drivers. I cant get it to charge. Windows Phone 8.1 is worse that a Mac. That is saying something. I would NOT recommend this phone to anyone. That is my opinion.

  • I'm a SATISFIED Nokia lumia 925 user since a year. Only one complaint. Nokia heats up....And not just a figure of speech. It actually literally HEATS UP. I'm using m8 (android) for a week now. Love the handset.....but hate the OS (no offence to android). Contemplating whether to move to lumia 930 or m8 for wp. Checked lumia 930 and noted the same problem of heating up like in 925. M8 (android version) does not heat up at all. Don't know the reason for heating up in lumias. Maybe hardwear related or maybe software related. Can any m8 wp user advise if the set heats up on wp os on extensive use or not. M8 for wp is not available in pakistan. If I hear a positive reply, I will get an unlocked set from abroad. Therefore, would request an honest opinion/feedback.

  • I wish it had a 5.5" screen then I'd definitely buy it

  • HTC One (M8)look like a stunnning. but rate its also stunnning.

  • I will be first in line!!!

  • Coming to at&t on November 7.

  • ~MY THOUGHTS WINDOWS PHONE 8.1~ Having using using Microsoft ecosystem since last May on my secondary NL720 device. Although it has some cons. but overall configuration of OS is really sleek and stylish. It will take a while for familiar. No doubt Microsoft done a superb job to established its mobile OS to give customers another option in very competitive smartphone market where Android is the king. The good which i like is u can control your background running apps, in result of this OS battery last a long, although live tiles are also a unique idea to stay updated but tiles updates info only for some period of the day. MAIN CONS:- 1. SETTINGS: 1st major cons. of this OS is its settings menu which is really confusing it should be determined in a different category wise tabs or groups for easy and user friendly access. But Microsoft throw all controling components of OS and settings here and there. Suppose if you are looking for hard reset option or mobile data option or even you want to copy your contacts from sim to phone then it will definitely make you annoy to find all this in emergency. 2. CONTACTS: If you store two different numbers with same name in your contact list and u want to make call one of them well no you press one name and it will automatically make call without showing number which is obviously irritating. Even if you want to copy your contacts from sim to phone then its really hard to find where the hell this option us exist specialy if u r new user even it took 2 to 3 days for me to find out this which is located in people hub option. Finally whenever u want to store or create any new contact it didn't display the storage location like sim, email or phone. 3. ACTON CENTRE TOGGLES: In action centre there is only 6 toggles u can add it should have more option for new toggles to add specialy heavily used mobile data option which didn't exist in action centre. Above all cons are only my thoughts and observation and they are the minor issues which will definatly solve in near future updates. APPS GAP:- Most of commonly used apps are there in store but majority of those apps are still in beta phase and functionality wise they are 2 years behind specialy social apps (like FB, WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram,Viber etc) then Google and Apple apps library. THE MOST concerning thing is that windows phone didn't have any Google & Apple apps in its store . Which is really sad and main problem for its downfall.Majority of the customers in globe are using google apps to meet their daily demands specialy google maps for navigation and entertaining youtube app . Although Here maps are good option but this application have some issues in some regions like in my country Pakistan . Microsoft should sort out what matter they have had with Google on urgent basis to brings there apps in WP store. If it happens then it will be a huge bonus for this OS . Even Google and Apple have each other apps in their respective stores including Microsoft apps as well, then why windows phone dont have all this stuff in its store . Microsoft become so lazy to sort out these issues with other vendors otherwise they will lose the battle and majority of their customers will shift to other OS.Even i am also shifted to Andriod although i like windowsphone so much and functionality and smoothness wise i rated it above on andriod and iOS. These are the genuine issues which i found during my experience and then describe here to share with all of you . Microsoft has to address all these matters on war footing basis to stay alive in competition. Thanks and Waiting For Your Thought's ..

  • Yes. We want symbian back. I love symbian lot.. It is better than other OS.

  • Now if only I could get a Nokia Lumia with Android ... Hell, I'll even take Symbian again. Please Nokia, come back to us!!!

  • To create hipe..

  • Why does it take so long for this phone to go worldwide? It was announced back in August, only Verizon customers can use the phone now. These carriers exclusives are simply useless.

  • this ph is the best among all win phones

  • I am looking forward to get this phone and it was announced and reviewed before iPhone 6. Now iphone6 has come and gone but when will this phone ever see the light of day???

  • I'm intrigued.

  • Same here. The poor screen resolution of the 625 is making it difficult for me to wait for the M8. That, plus the small amount of built-in memory.

  • it is realy amzinging phones

  • The below review is for the HTC One (M8) for Windows Review. I was fortunate enough to receive this phone for free from HTC as part of a testing program. The thoughts and opinions in this review are all my own and have not been influenced by this at all. Hardware Size and screen - My previous phone was the HTC 8X, which has a 4.3" screen. I had always thought that was big enough, but switching to this 5" screen was a welcome surprise. It's not just about size though. The screen on this phone has one of the brightest and clearest displays that I've ever seen on a phone. The display is a perfect compliment to the Windows Phone OS, the live tiles and the beautiful lines. Sound - I would be remiss if I didn't mention the sound on this phone. The Boom Sound speakers, which are two front facing speakers with a dedicated amp is one of my favorite features of this phone. Not only do the front speakers carry enough volume and power to act as a very good replacement for a portable speaker system in a pinch, but they are pointing towards you when you are watching a video. I used to have to cup my hand behind my phones to bounce the sound back towards me. Those days are long gone. Camera - I was a bit worried when I first read about the rear camera only having 4 megapixels, but what I've discovered is that megapixels are by no means the most important part of the camera. The rear shooter on this phone has ultrapixels, which is marketing speak meaning that the tiny individual sensors that record information are much much larger than other cameras, and this allows you to capture a lot more light, which is especially helpful in darker situations. In daylight, the pictures have rich color and are very clear. There is also a secondary camera on the back which just records depth information. This allows for some really neat effects after the fact with choosing what to focus on in your pictures, and selectively blurring areas of a photo. The front shooter is also very high quality. I have been very impressed on multiple occasions with the selfies I've taken with the camera. Crisp, clear and the wide angle lens means I don't have to throw my shoulder out trying to extend out far enough to get everyone in the shot. Software Windows Phone OS - I am a huge fan of the Windows Phone operating system, and it is really nice to see such a powerful, useful and beautiful OS on such a high end phone. Windows Phone has a lot of great attributes, but one of the best is how Microsoft has rethought the mobile experience to make finding things, interacting with the people in your life, conducting business and creating content intuitive and so much simpler than the other popular mobile platforms. From the live tiles on the start menu, to the witty and always helpful Cortana, from putting people first to the well-thought design elements, Windows Phone is, in my opinion, the best mobile operating system. I've also found the number of apps to be way more than I will ever need. Very rarely do I find anything lacking in the apps store. HTC Apps - I've really enjoyed playing with some of the apps that HTC has created to enhance the mobile phone experience and make your phone even more useful. Two that I've been most impressed with have been a)Blinkfeed, a well designed information aggregator that brings the best of the news I want and my friends on social media into a single feed. I really feel like I can get caught up on all the important information in a very short time. B)HTC Sense TV is an app that takes advantage of the IR port in the top of the phone and turns your mobile device into a smart remote that works with most major TVs. It allows you to find out which shows are on right now and will turn your TV to that channel. It makes it seem like your regular TV is a smart TV with an expensive service.

  • As long as Microsoft do not block the access of the operating system Any device is kinda useless. Please add support for RTSP on wp and a decend file manager ES File explorer like when i can access my shared video folder from my computer and play any mkv movie on wi-fi connection via samba/cifs. And at the end, the market big sucks, If you do not grow the Store to be able to install decent apps like on android you'll never succeed to take the market, doesn't matter how much money Bill will give you, all due respect....

  • When it come?

  • Woow the best windows phone ever I wish I could my hands on that. Is a shame that won"t come to Cameroon now..

  • when?

  • does microsoft will support htc devices for os updates ?

  • HTC wait to long to put it on the market.specially to EU.sad.but there other good phones like nokia too so HTC will loose people they use theyer phones.i change to nokia there u know when u can buye a phone and u doesent must wait 100 years like for the htc.

  • When?

  • very good htc model and yuz very good function very high

  • Full review with details

  • There will be no "m9" the next best android phone will be aria and it wont be out for another 2+ years. The HTC One M8 is the best phone with the best build quality available. Get "i"Phone out of your mind. Apple was innovative when they dropped the first iPhone but now they are just grasping at straws. And for those of you who are hell bent on the fingerprint readers there is software available now that will let you use the first and second camera combined on the back as a fingerprint reader and it works fantastically well and smooth as sild. Much better than the iPhone. Its called ice unlock or ice security unlock or something just look it up. M8 is the king right now especially the gsm version which can easily be changed into the harman kardon eddition with full use of clarify.

  • it's not related just to android fans.i have one M7 dual and gave high score to this phone.lots of other brands come to htc pages and mark low score for destroy htc name.those bigoted person come here and write negative comment for htc phones.go and see sony phones score!sony is good brand but not as good as htc. sony fans just score high for sony and those person come here and spoil htc(with other fans).please be aware and persevere against them.htc has the best design,UI,sound, speed and build quality in compare to other opponents. shame on jealous person who vote low score for htc. for sure one M8 WP is one of the fastest phone ever made(in top 3).I will get it and complete my gadget with M8 WP and M7 dual.

  • do u know when will be available worldwide? thx

  • This phone will hit the US market first on Verizon but it will also be available worldwide later.

  • Why are you answering to yourself? Trying to make it look like somebody agrees with you?

  • HTC, now on right track , using professional os . This what I'm look for it.

  • Will it be available worldwide or just in America?

  • Yes they do give lower scores for that specific reason. They are rather childish, and better to ignore.

  • Why does this phone get 7.6 (compared to 8.4 on the Android-one) on design when they are identical? How does this get 7.8 (compared to 8.4 on the Android-one) on performance when this performs better according to benchmarks? Are Android-fanboys really giving it lower scores just because it doesn't run Android? That's very, VERY strange.

  • Nice phone 📱

  • Samsung runs on that crap bugdroid is no good. Their build quality is bad. Call quality is one of the worst.

  • Dual Flash but still the same crappy UltraPixel camera. Haven't we moved on from the experiment already? E8 has the edge there, please give WP to E8 rather than the M8.

  • I hope that.

  • I am using Lumia 625 But iam waiting for htc m8

  • Xenon flash please..

  • Is it supports dual sim future

  • as some body told ,it's the best phone ever introduced , the best design, material, body, feeling, OS and the fastest camera.in addition M8 wp has monster speakers and on of the best screen(with real colors and details).one M8 wp also has best specs in wp.I will go for it but after many monthes(after decreased price) I have one M7 dual and I'd rather buy the lord M8 with WP(wow,M7 dual+M8 wp).i offer M8 wp for every body.go for it

  • in first half of fall.

  • Hi.could anyone tell me when will this phone released in Europe?

  • The best Smartphone in World really, best design, best OS and best hardware + Specs........ I wish I can afford one....(Lumia 630 User)

  • i love my m8 but wp8 is also great and maybe buy this

  • U don't know anything about phones ......

  • First tell Me.. Does you even have working mind???

  • This is the best smartphone!

  • Well go with your samsung and its plastic feeling !!!

  • It,s the best smart phone...I love It.

  • i used several nokia lumia high end devices such as 925,920 but htc windows is the best..

  • Very bad phone dont buy samsung is much better because it have better design and camera and fingerprint what does htc have?? does it even have touch screen?????

  • I am not so sure about HTC. Titan 2 was hardly released outside US. Europe is the real market for Windows Phone. In terms of percentage of users, Europe and South east Asia lead.

  • Can we use windows phone on our android htc m8?

  • Yeah, Nokia is much better

  • No doubt it will become available here in Europe as well. There are certain markets where WP is doing very good so Microsoft and HTC would be silly to not release is in Europe sooner or later.

  • never ever compare nokia with HTC again

  • Or you cloud just buy a nokia lumia......

  • With the GSM version announced, I hope it will be available for Europe too.
