  • This was mm first smartphone and I used it for two years. I accidentally damaged it about two days ago. Overall,I think this phone is great!! Very occaionaly freezes (less than 10times in two year) and everything worked great. I would advise on going in for this phone ANYTIME!!! • I have been using this HTC S 730 for about a month and I really found it one of wonderful innovation in the history of mankind I have ever found. I'm really inspired because previously I have been the user of latest Nokia phones. Thanks to HTC.

  • Sell me the phone then...

  • Hi pls I need htc_s730 software, send it to dis email [email protected]

  • Had this phone for over 1 year, now im sick and tired! Its slow, difficult to write sms on, messing up things, and now resently have deleted some of my contacts.. It takes 2-3 pictures everytime, and its not easy to find what i want.

  • worst phone ever

  • I had this phone for 2 and a half year, in UK O2 internet doesn't work. Windows crashes and phone is really slow. In sides where are cover screws it started to broke and eventually it just fall apart. I even can take out buttons and the screen is about to fall out as well.

  • I'm using this phone over 2 years. Got in US at authorised dealer shop. Experience is awful - windows mobile has crashed twice, deleting big part of my latest contacts, as well the whole diary. The rubber covers do not function and are completely out. The phone has very bad alarm system - you can only place allarm for week or weekdays, not for once! there is no option to have both vibration and music for call together, either one. sometimes, when the phone is connected to the system it still can't send SMS (that actually happened after second reinstallation of Windows), camera sometimes refuses to work (the problem appeared after 1 year, before it was quite OK) there might be technical malfunction of the slider, as sometimes phone stucks and screen becomes black, although the phone functions, it may get you crazy... Overall, undone unit. Recent HTCs are much morequality work, so if you want to have no headache, do not buy S730!

  • really nice phone, trouble is no one at o2-uk can give me the right post-pay wap settings

  • Need help on stoping an sms tone from playing when one has read the sms. And how can one set just one tone playing per time. Rather than an sms tone, phone tone, alarm tone all playing at once. Help

  • this phone can install garmin or not

  • can anyone help me? i have this phone but there is something with my camera.. it says unable to initialize camera. failed to set up the camera device. " can anyone tell me anything about that. maybe email me if you have information.. ta\hank you very much ( [email protected] )

  • Very problematic phone I have ever used in my life, past calls can not be deleted, connects to window is a war, camera inbuilt is poor standard, the key board is a bit complicated, and the worse of it is the battery-case is constantly over-heat,all these are not good.Improvement and upgrades are necessary.

  • Is it possible to "Copy" SMS in order to Fwd it as email on the phone (On SE K800i it is - very handy!)

  • do you know how should i reset it? there is one thing clean storage" it says that dellets all my data and reset all settings to manufacturer default... but ir doesn't work if even i done that... :( send me email with maybe some suggestions ( [email protected]) thank you

  • can anyone help me? i have this phone but there is something with my camera.. it says unable to initialize camera. failed to set up the camera device. " can anyone tell me anything about that. maybe email me if you have information.. ta\hank you very much ( [email protected] )

  • klik on start ==> setting ==> phone ==> automatic Answering => never ! x I hope it helps

  • Battery is as good as most but the problem is that when you open any application and then close it it does not really close. it remains open and drains the battery. So if you send a message, take a picture, use quick notes etc you have to go into task manager and close them or install a software that does it automatically for u. this is not unusual for HTC its the Operating System...many phones using Windows suffer this way.

  • i also use my phone as a mederm but still able to receive calls while on the internet.

  • Hi Guys Can anyone tell me? I use my phone as a modem and do streaming via the phone, when I receive a phone call it goes straight to my voicemail. Are there any settings that while im busy on the internet that the call will still go trough. Your help will be appreciated

  • was a user of the HTC S720 (Libra)....loved it, have not used WM6.1 yet...... as soon as I use it, I will let the forum know ..........got STEAL on this on an auction...barely 220$

  • what is the maximum memory card for this phone? tnx

  • 1. open the sms you want to forward 2. open menu 3. open reply 4. select forward

  • A kind soul has showed me how to forward SMS... ThanX Liezl! I however still have major withdrawal symptoms from moving away (or at least trying) from my trusted SE K800i! ;)))

  • OOOOOOOOPPS - forgot to ask - if any one "dare" to answer my re. forwarding SMS question - be so kind to mail me directly on [email protected] (if you may)... ThanX

  • How do one forward SMS on this phone? it seems to be either IMPOSSIBLE or veryyyyyyyyyyy difficult :( Had the phone for a few weeks. Previous phone you ask - Sony Ericsson K800i - and love it! But we all have to move on at some stage I guess ;))

  • This is my first Smartphone; a dream one.I have had this phone for about two weeks and I think it's good. I haven't experienced any freezing, although the memory leak problem is real.As a workaround, always go to taskmanager and "Stop All" once in a while even when nothing is running. you'll be amazed how much memory may be redeemed. TIP: DO NOT CHARGE THIS PHONE BY CONNECTING TO COMPUTER!!!!! All my friends who have the freezing and power problems began experiencing that only after having charged the battery thru computer usb. Avoid connecting to pc through USB (use bluetooth) but if you really need to, make sure Settings-->Power Management-->When device is turned on, do not charge battery when connected to pc is set to ON!! I got this phone primarily because I needed a tool for some kind of work when on the go and also for my software development pruposes. So far, I think it's great.I wouldnt STRONGLY advise anyone to get it but on the whole,so far, it's worth the $415 I paid to have it. Will keep the forum posted

  • can garmin use with the build in gps?

  • Worth swapping my S.E k850i for this phone?(both brand new)

  • I've this mobile for 6 months and I'm very disappointed. I use the phone quite a lot and I think it has a nice range of features available but there two flaws that are just too much important. 1. the battery runs out of power in about 10/ 12 hours - it's just too bad. 2. it runs out of memory and doesn't receive any calls during that time before you notice it(you'll hardly understand that this is occuring since the display remains on). This happens every 2/3 days.

  • gprs

  • Yes, there is GPS.

  • how do i get send songs from an other phone to my htc 730 phone

  • hmmmmmmm worth the try

  • No gps on the s730 !

  • Hi all i have 1 question about S730. Have this phone GPS or not?

  • I have this phone and i can say Not good for the 450euro that i gave..The battery sucks, not more than 2 days with a normal use Its very slow like a snail and very often freeze wiyh no reason.. the company at Greece where i came from is really bad as well .I want to sell it but nobody want it so you loose your money very easy...

  • If you are looking for a smartphone, do not waste your money on this phone. For a smart phone, this phone is anything but smart. The phone is very limited in featues compared to other phones. For example, there is no contact groups, you cannot synchronize your notes, you can only set one alarm, the phone is menu drive with no short keys for some basic functions, such as delete, etc etc. Then again, maybe I am spoiled, all these features were standard on my Ericsson and Nokia phones since 2001, including 6610, 6630, N81.

  • I had the S730 for a good 2 months as a replacement for my outdated NOKIA 9300i. I was excited being one of the first in South Africa to get my hands on this phone - 3G/HSDPA, WM, camera, email, wifi, the works. This made my disappointment devastating. The WM menu and functionality navigation is really bad and overly complicated - it took my company techies 3 hours to figure out how to sync with my laptop without cables. And only after a call to the HTC call centre could we get it working. And it can't even do it automatically, still has to be prompted. The phone would shut down intermittently and not respond to button pushing. Battery usage is a joke - expect a maximum of 1 and half day without excessive use - I am not one of these people constantly on my mobile. Why oh why is it only possible to set 1 (repeat one) alarm? Try finding a contact in your contacts list - compared to a Nokia this becane a drag. Try browsing on this phone - you cannot fit the whole page into the screen, even in Landscape fullscreen mode. I found the keyboard to be sluggish, lagging and not very sensitive which means a lot of repeat typing. Using the front panel buttons for anything is difficult - they are so narrow and small and pushing has to be so accurate. So this, my first venture into both HTC and Windows Mobile I'm sorry to say, has also been my last. Looks great, performs miserably. A friend of mine got the same phone - exact same experiences....!

  • They released HTC S740 with WM 6.1, so I doubt they'll give the free WM 6.1 update for S730 :P

  • Does the phone support Blackberry Connect?

  • Hi everyone! Is this phone upgradable to WinMo 6.1? I'm planning to buy it especially because we have HSDPA here in South Africa and hope it's faster than the really sluggish S710 which has a slow processor and lacks 3G.

  • You are right, changing the HTC Home screen definitively extends battery life, perhaps not buy a very long time but it is noticeable. Another benefit from changing the HTC default home screen is a smaller memory leak.

  • i got some faint faint signal with gps but its not useable for the 3G thing it depends on your network provider.... if its US then there can be issues because US is new with 3G network. In most cases it should auto select it but if it doesnt then choose WCDMA under settings-->phone--> band select--->network type

  • Mine sometimes shows "H" indicator instead of "3G". Is there a way to keep the phone from using 3G when not asked ? About GPS, the members in XDA Developers forum said most likely there's the chip inside (packaged with the processor architecture with the ATi graphic also) but is disabled. There's also attempt to enable it with software hack. To save battery more, better not use homescreen with HTC Home plugin.

  • its a good phone. I like it... if you are looking for a small phone with a keyboard this one is for you.... if you dont mind taking larger phone the touch pro will be better choice. There is only regular 3g while the newer phones these days are starting to have 3.5G There is also no GPS even though some people say there is.

  • MSN does not have voice option for windows mobile but skype does... There is no video call for skype or msn. However there is videocall over 3G network.

  • Yes it does :)

  • No video calls! But VoIP works great with Skype depending on ur connection.

  • Hi, Does this phone supports in making skype or msn video calls? Thank you.

  • How is this phone im just planning 2 buy this pone

  • Internet Explorer - when using my IE, I am limited to approx 75 characters in the address bar (phone starts beeping and does not allow any more characters)? This limits my access to certain URL's. Is this a HTC thing or a Pocket IE issue?

  • I do own the Device for some a month now, and am overall satisfied with it. I am experiencing the memory leak problem though, as my memory status is usually 6MB, i use Oxiosmemory to solve that most of time. Also an issue that occurs is in system status it saiz I have overall 43MB physical memory in stead of 64MB, and 130 instead of 256 in on device storage. I guess this is either the OS or a bug. The unit also can not run 3D Java Apps, which is ridiculous with it's CPU, so I guess it's HTC being lazy with driver support. Other than the above mentioned flaws the device does everything I tell it to (what's written on the tin is what you get) and does it well. SMS/MMS, office, surfing, videos - divX works fine, blutooth and wi-fi works like a charm, the keyboard is nifty and sound quality during conversations is satisfactory.

  • Has any one read about the possibility that this unit may carry an AMD Imageon processor? It has the same Qualcomm MSM 7200 CPU as the Kaiser, so shouldn't it have the Imageon as well? Also can anyone confirm or deny the production of a ROM update by HTC, or unofficial ROM updates by individual programmers addressing memory leak issues and the lack of hardware 3D acceleration?

  • Would this handest be compatible with Blackberry Connect?

  • Hi all, i thought of getting a N81 but its out of stock. Is this S730 similar to it? can i install games on this phone? thanks

  • Hey Douglas. This phone is perfect for you. It's a small smartphone and pretty handy. I have it myself. You should definitely go for this one :)

  • Hi all, I'm aiming this question to all who actually own or have had hands on experience with HTC S730. I currently own a Sony Ericsson W950i, so watching movies and listening to music and radio aren't my problem. I live in a country which so far has no operating 3G - "very inconvenient". I need a device with integrated wi-fi and a "good"/decent office suite. I'm often on the move, and when I'm, at work I sometimes have extreme urgent needs to check my mail, write a note or edit some documents, i work with text, presentations and spreadsheets. I know a phone or PDA can never replace a lap top but as I stated i need a device to help in urgent situations. I need a device I can use in a wireless hot spot, at the airport or office and check, edit documents, brows internet content (nice and neat like, not dumb mobile net content but decent enough to read text). I don't really see a need for multitasking, however Win Live messenger and Skype are favorable. Pls. help, is the S730 a device for me or should I go looking somewhere else?

  • hi all i would like to check if htc has got a message counter which can count all my sms sent out per month which can be reset monthly?like wat nokia and sony ericsson has got?? N how come i cannot download the map king 3rd party soft ware??PLs help.. Cheerzs!!

  • I don't think that i've read that the phone has a built in GPS chipset... However, you can still use an external bluetooth GPS receiver for using it. :D

  • Hi all i am in singapore..Can i just double check if this phone has got built in gps or do i have to download it??Cos i wanna buy the phone this week...pls reply.. Thanks & cheeRs!

  • @M@cL, if the guy has purchased the phone and hates it, then I would say that's exactly what this board is for is it not? For people to read opinions of phones and put their opinion. And if someone pays $500 for a phone and it's not performing, well then so be it....

  • I am using S730 since Nov. '07. It is fine but has two major shortcomings - memory management and short battery life. I am really disappointed about the lack of HTC reaction (splendid isolation) as regards the memory issue. No fix and they even don't answer mails on this subject. I hope they will come with memory fix. If they come with S731 with better memory I would rather buy Nokia E51.

  • Please put constructive criticism. Writing things like "I hate this phone" makes you look like more on an idiot.

  • i hate this phone ho ever wants to by it shoud think first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nokia's 8GB memory is a storage memory, what we need is a higher Volatile Memory if we want applications to run faster not simply a storage memory..

  • This is a general comment about this forum: Users would be more helpful if they shared their real experiences with devices rather than comments like "I love this phone - it is fantastic..". If we share our real experiences, not only would be be helping one another understand issues with devices, it would also provide a feedback to manufacturers so they know what to address in future versions of their product.

  • I understand about Nokia putting more RAM in N95. That's exactly what HTC did in moving from TyTN to TyTN II - TyTN has 64MB while TyTN II has 128MB. But the point remains that installing more RAM does not mean that memroy leak is eliminated. It only allows you use the device for longer before you need to clean up the memory by soft reset or some memory utility. If you are used to switching off your phone before going to bed, you may never need to rest during the day because you start up with a clean memory anyway.

  • rsa The person below who said that NOKIA solved memory issues of N95 with N95-8gb meant that NOKIA put more RAM (a bigger RAM chip) in to the N95-8gb (128mb RAM chip),whereas the 1st N95 had a 64mb RAM chip.

  • We should understand that many system shortcomings of phones are inherent in the operating system rather than in the phone manufacturer. I believe that most of the memory issues associated with Windows Mobile devices are inherent in the Microsoft design of the OS. The perception that some WM phones (e.g. Toshiba) do not suffer memory leaks is false. Talking of Nokias, someone said Nokia solved the memory leak problem by introducing an 8GB version of N95. No way. The 8GB memory in N95 is a storage memory, not program memory! If the Nokia (S60) phones seem to suffer less memory problems than the WM devices, it is because S60 is a far less powerful OS than WM. I have used both systems and I would say there is no comparison. What we should hope for is that Microsoft would build good dynamic memory management into future versions of WM so it would not be necessary to install 3rd-party memory managers in WM devices.

  • Thanx a lot for the info guys, realy helped, i did research on S730 and i read its review over at M-R And was SO DISSAPPOINTED AND LET DOWN by the battery life especialy when Surfing the net and its RAM :-) I surf the web a lot on my current Nokia N81 (Symbian S60 device) and also do heavy multitasking like Running 2-3 Web browsers on large pages, Music player, downloading Podcasts, and chatting to friends via MXit all at once and my current device has an amazing battery life and enoungh RAM to handle all my multitasking. I wanted to have a nice WM device though, i don't like Touchscreen so the S730 seemed perfect BUT thats exactly what HTC and ALL other phone makers don't want. Il wait for the announcements next week then, i realy liked Wings aka S730 though.

  • Guys, does any one know if its out in the middleeast or not? i would love to get it please provide me with its price in dubai if its out

  • Thanks for giving me information about the phone :) So this one has memory issues that make it hang all the time too... So in that sense it's no better than the Toshiba G900 I guess. And yes, I'm definately the dropping phones type. If you guys have problems with this phone too then I guess I'm going to have to go with the Toshiba one, which, again, has a bigger screen and keypad and hopefully doesn't break that easily when dropped. Noone on the Toshiba G900's review site has replied to me yet though :(

  • i have read a few good post here with regards to the HTC S730. firstly, every mobile have some sort of problem but HTC S730 memory issuse is the worse issue known to man. Specially on a smartphone. any one who wants a smartphone MUST first do yourself a favour. do some research and you will see this issue is every on the net. the s730 is a great phone but the memory situation is CRIPPLING the phone to death. most, if not every user of the s730 uses one of these two free software to manage the s730 memory show stopper. SmartToolkit-SP-RC08.CAB (search google) oxiosmemory.zip (search google) its so unfair that one buys an expensive phone that comes with major problem and the company does NOTHING to rectify the situation. this is why i love and use NOKIA products. when the N95 had problems Nokia listened to the public then stop production and rectified the problem with the N95 8Gig. when the Nokia E90 had problems Nokia listened to the public then stop production and rectified the problem with a E90 hardware fix. xrad

  • I had this phone for 12 days. Then while in the leather case I bought for it, it dropped from a height of about 1m, and that was it - the screen went white and has never recovered. But I'll share my view on the phone: 1) If you love the user-friendliness of Symbian phones but also crave the power of Windows Mobile, get this S730 phone. 2) Those who moan that it does not have GPS (or rather that the GPS is not activated) and that it has only 64MB RAM should understand that it is a typical business strategy: Make an excellent product, leave out some desirables - It gives you a basis for future models. Watch out for an HTC S7xx that looks like the S730 but with GPS and 128MB RAM. That's how HTC will keep getting our money. 3) Although it looks solid, the S730 phone is in fact fragile. If you are used to dropping your Nokias, picking up the pieces and coupling it all together and rebooting, the HTC S730 will disappoint you. If you drop it, you can assume you've ruined it. 4) The ring volume control is virtually useless. Even at the lowest volume setting (volume=1) it is obnoxiously loud. I left mine on vibration most of the time. 5) There are glaring oversights in the software - more to do with WM Standard than the hardware. For example, you can edit MS-Word and MS-Excel files but cannot create new ones. Fortunately, you can get a .cab file free from the web that allows you create new MS-Word and MS-Excel files. 6) The memory leak is bad. You need a memory recovery add-on (available free from the web) to clean things up from time to time. Otherwise, the phone just hangs and you must reboot at least once daily.

  • I read on another site that this phone was recently updated to work on 3G network in the U.S. Can anyone confirm this? Currently it only operates in the 2100 mhz in Asia/Europe for 3G. Thanks, Andy

  • Can anyone please give me some advice so as to if I should buy this phone or Toshiba's G-900? On the one hand I like the fact that Toshiba's screen and keypad sizes are bigger, but I've been reading some bad reviews on how it hangs all the time, you can't read anything on the screen in day light, the camera is bad etc, so I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice too.. thanks :)

  • to AI Windows Mobile Standard = for NON- touch screen phones Windows Mobile Professional = for Touch Screen phones. so answer is NO you can not use Windows Mobile 6 Pro in this Device.

  • Hi, I will probably buy one in a couple of days, but I would like to know if it's possible to upgare the OS from WM 6.0 standard to the version WM 6.0 pro? Can you please let me know before I buy it. Many Thanks

  • I think this is an extremely good design. In fact the design concept is the best I have ever seen in a phone. It allows the user access to both a T9 hardware keyboard and a QWERTY. Excellent!! HTC then go and spoil a good design by cutting the RAM thereby limiting the multitasking ability of the phone. They make the mistake of excluding GPS, which so many desire. The QWERTY has only three rows instead of the usual four so some letters are in unusual places which now institutes the inconvenient need to type differently for this particular phone. One wonders whether it is because the phone does not have a touch screen that HTC felt the need to amputate its features! HTC should realise that by far the majority of people do not like touch screens. One has only to look at top selling phones such as Nokia's N73 and N95 8GB which are all without touch screens to realise this. That is why a phone like this would be ideal for people who have been used to Symbian phones and want to try WM. Yet HTC make decamping difficult with their insistence on cutting features. Why couldn't they have placed a 3.2 or even 5MP autofocus camera in the device. Afterall this is a contemporary feature that is highly desired. HTC should stop being small minded and open the gates. They should place top features in this phone because it has so much potential. So if they ever make a S750 or even S770 they should try and implement the aforementioned recommendations because that is the key to high sales. HTC have the design; they have the processor (Qualcomm MSM 7200); they have the technicians. What is holding them??

  • Here i was looking at the Touch Dual sadly thinking "if only it had Wi-Fi" and had totaly forgoten about the S730! In 3months im taking another upgrade and im not sure if i should get another Nokia Nseries or not. So would like to find out how much does this device cost in South Africa? How much RAM does it have after boot up? +/-45mb? Is WM6.1 OUT for this device? And lastly how is the screen compared to a S710 and Touch Dual? I realy wish GSMArena had done a review of it. :-(

  • I just bought this phone and it is amaezing

  • I like this phone so far.... its the smallest smartphone with a full keyboard. If it had GPS it would be perfect. I prefer having a phone with normal dialing pad and not touch because its not as quick

  • The phone is a nice phone but a problem i have with it is that if you put a mp3 as your text message ringtone it don't stop playing when the text is being read, it only stops when the entire mp3 is completed. Is the a fix for this?

  • For the alarm to work, the phone has to remain on. If your reason for turning off the phone is to conserve enry then jst put the phone in flight mode.

  • Hey anyone can help? i just got this phone 2 days ago... realised a problem.. i like to off my phone when asleep.. and i realised that the alarm will not go off when the phone is off. Can this phone have auto switch on when the alarm clock hit?? i dislike to be disturbed when asleep. Please... urgent help needed... can email me if u have the answer thx =)

  • Due to release 11th March on o2. Contract price: Unknown

  • Love this phone! But the ring volume is a bit loud!!

  • For those in the UK that want this phone, the HTC S730 has been rebranded O2 XDA Atmos and it will be released in March 08 on the O2 network.

  • The phone is really nice. But it should have been equipped with an auto-focus camera. It's also imho quite too fat. The numeric keypad could have been better. It's a shame that it has such a powerful cpu and has rather slow interface, including the one for taking pictures :( But the full qwerty keypad is something really nice. WM itself is also really good. I used to have a Nokia 9300 (the one without wi-fi) and I think HTC S730 is a good phone to choose when your 9300 is getting old =)

  • Hi, I'm looking at buying this phone as did like the s710 but held back 'cos of lack of 3G. Just need to know a few things. Is the processor any quicker than the Tytn II, what's the battery life like on average & how easy is it to use? Thanks

  • does this phone have aim on it????

  • this phone rulz! I own it couple of weeks now, and really like it. I installed skype for mobile devices on it - everything works fine. Things not very well - camera - it's hard to catch still image. Still waiting fore some soft patches that would enable GPS...

  • Hi all! Can any1 tell me it has or has not "VoIP over WLAN" function like Nokia E51? And how does it cost in USA? Or more, a well-know site who makes comparission btw this 1 & Nokia E51? Thank U so much ;)

  • i love this phone it works great no problem at all works fast

  • i got this one, its my first HTC phone , i like it this far. Msn works like a clock and its cool and pretty

  • this device is a smartphone not a pda and has no touch screen

  • i personally wouldnt get htc phone if i were u until they fix the problem i own 2 htc phone and they left driver out wich makes the touch screen really buggy if we keep buying their phone we will just keep supporting them for bad service stay clear of htc until they start giving us the respect we deserve :)

  • OFJN, I plan on buying this phone this week, Can you please provide more information of the processor issues?

  • it has A2DP finally!! + wifi, was keen on getting touch dual but draw back cus of these 2 vital issues,a PDA that doesn't wifi = sports car that can't speed..

  • Don't Buy this phone or any other with Qualcomm MSMXXXX HTC has refused to develope proper drivers for the graphic processor built in which causes this phone to run at a substandard rate much lower than much older phones.

  • Any Windows Mobile smartphone can support MSN Messanger.

  • Does this phone support Blackberry service?

  • Does the HTC S730 have MSN Live Messenger?

  • Using Nokia Communicator in it's 3rd Generation (9300i), which I think it's getting too slow and doubt if Symbian is well fitted for the future . So my idea is to change to a PDA on Mobile 6 Pro with the hope that it doesn't break down than so often heard.I am targeting a HTC S730 which I believe it's a nice machine. So many fears are crossing my head like:can it be synchronised with a MAC(for the moment I am still using Windows XP professional) If staying with Windows, are there any issues to think of eventual problems with Windows Vista ? Changing a businesstool when used to it and when carrying around a lot of updated contacts is never a easy decision to take. Would very much appreciate anybody else's opinion. Carlo

  • Thanks for that - now I am even more kungfused :-)

  • And Yes, and No

  • So, has it got GPS - yes or no?

  • sar: 0.82w/kg

  • Simply an amazing gadget.. I am really having fun with this phone.. Super fast and beutiful design.. with awsome performance. value for money... I would be jealous if eveery one can afford it..

  • isnt this out? can we get some reviews please?

  • I hope that the guys from gsmarena will make a review for this model, because i'm interested to buy this phone but i would like to see a full review for this phone befeore spend my money.

  • what is the sar value of this device? i can't seem to find it online ...

  • not released yet? In Latvia there are some in internet shops, but, honestly, I want not be first......

  • any touchscreen function?

  • The S730 comes with Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard, so it doesn't have a touchscreen. Touchscreen support is the only difference between MS 6 Pro. and Std.

  • Yes. I saw the Orange version of the S710 yesterday and I really liked the size. The S730 will be a bit bigger but still a phone rather than a PDA/Phone.

  • A good enough size to be considered a 'phone' by my business customers who are unwilling to make the move to a PDA-sized device

  • I think it has a gps, but how come that HTC didnot mention it in their website check this video.

  • Actually the TyTN II isnt that much bigger than the S730 (I think that the specs on this site are wrong again) although it will be noticeably bigger. From the HTC website: S730: 105.8 x 51 x 19.4 mm TyTN II: 112 x 59 x 19 mm The TyTN II is a little thinner than the S730. My main concern is the difference in features between WM Pro and Standard otherwise I'm liking the S730.

  • Guys, the TyTn II is a different kettle of fish! It is twice the size of this. As long as HTC have speeded up the screen rotation, customers with Exchange will absolutely lap this up!

  • Lacks built in gps like the tytn II. A major drawback, otherwise it'd be perfect. Excellent design, with the numeric keypad being a plus for one hand easy dialing.

  • cud be 3.15mgp camera like on tytn2. 2mgp its past for today.

  • I guess the model is fantastic. I like very much to have the QWERTY keyboard. Does anybody know the release date for this phone?

  • desing excellent ,y very good, all is excellelent

  • enerything is good. only if autofocus is added will be best! look forward to this phone! :-)

  • when i buy this phone, i like to put tomtom on it (wheter it has gps integrated or not). how is it to use tomtom without touchscreen? can anyone say something about this. or would it be better to wait for touchscreen?

  • If GPS is included, how come there is no mention of it in the HTC website?

  • Does anyone have this phone yet?

  • Thanks Ali and Manuel, but for the GPS, you said the receiver is built-in I agree with that, but can I install an application for GPS, because if you use the Google one, it will charge you for internet connectivity. in other words, since it has built-in gps receiver, so can we install an application for gps and use it in UAE for example. thanks and regards.

  • The S730 has an internal GPS reciever...u hav to enable it first using the HTCGPStool or GPS Test and use google maps if u wish...but S730 has internal GPS for sure..

  • more RAM = more battery usage ... and really theres no need for more RAM , u see all the new eten ppcs have 64 of RAM ! so dont be mad about same amount ! bcuz new windows mobile wont install on these type of ppcs so you will get only to WM6 that 64 is enough !

  • The phone shape is lovely, I loved it, The only one problem with this phone is The RAM it is very very weak, and if you compare with the previos model which is S710 it has the same RAM, I think HTC should or Have to upgrade the RAM, if this is happened the phone will be perfect. For the GPS, I disagree to have it on the Phone, because assume that you are driving and using the GPS and suddenly you receive a call. the GPS is must be in the CAR, and the Bluetooth device is available. Just the RAM must be increased. that is it.

  • you can buy a bluetooth gps device! the positive thing is, that the phone is may a little bit smaller without gps. and you may need gps only in your car...

  • I've been waiting for the S730 ever since it was suggested to have GPS. Now that it doesn't, I had to go to the dark side. I'm really disappointed.

  • several places say it has GPS: superiorgadgets said... It means - it is enabled in our preproduction sample. The productions unit will have the same chip - so GPS will be there. Will it be easily enabled as our preproduction - we cannot say? We know what to do, so as soon as production units will arrive - we will check them for GPS right away.

  • Additional differences when compared to the TyTN II are: weaker battery 1050 vs 1350mAh weaker camera 2MP vs 3.2MP lighter weight 120 vs 190g smaller dimensions so QWERTY will not be as large. In short this is a more portable phone compared to TyTN II. The crux is how important is touchscreen to the user and whether multitasking or opening of large webpages (RAM hungry) will be frequently needed. The lower RAM clearly implies that HTC feel that the phone will be used for lighter work eg writinng e-mails. So it all boils down to whether the phone satisfies your needs.

  • what are the differences of this phone to the tytn II: - no gps (can be solved with a bt-gps-modul) - no touchscreen - s730 is smaller - less RAM :-( are there other differences? is the missing touchscreen (why it have no!?!) a big handicap?

  • there's hundreds of phones out there, if you dont want a qwerty keyboard, get another one.

  • I especially LOVE the sliding keyboard on TyTN. Think this s730 is great BECAUSE it has a sliding keyboard. Otherwise it would be just an average, regular phone.

  • I wish it didn't have the sliding keyboard, then it'd be thinner and less have less parts that can break. Y would U need a qwerty key board? just use T9. I'm still waiting for one with toush screen, keypad and no moving parts. The best one i've seen so far is the P526, but no shop seems to have it.

  • The Wings have finally landed! ;-) This is way cool! But I agree, HTC should've included more RAM...

  • On a serious note HTC should not cut the RAM on this device. Afterall it has the SAME processor as TyTN II so it should have the same128MB RAM so that there will be less headache when multitasking. Since it has not been released yet they still have a chance to ammend this oversite. Furthermore I understand that FM is not included. I cannot comprehend why HTC feel that attaining business news via the radio is unimportant.

  • GPS? Going to get two - One for me and the missus!

  • Does the S730 have GPS? ive read a lot that it has and some says it doesnt have any. whats really the truth?

  • Jezebel, this would have been the smartphone version of the TyTN II if they had implemented 128MB RAM instead of 64MB! I don't understand why they cut the RAM. This is no longer the S710!!

  • this is from engadget, so i'm holding out hope for US 3g bands: The S730 is just what we heard: 400MHz Qualcomm processor, "worldwide 3G," HSDPA data, WiFi (of course), auto-sliding QWERTY, and Windows Mobile 6 with 256MB of flash memory.

  • no GPS???....too bad

  • hmm, those were the specs from the specs there were updated yesterday, but official htc site does only say 2100, which would suck.

  • the S730 is basically the smartphone (Windows Mobile Standard) version of the Tytn 2 (Kaiser), so it is smaller, but no touchscreen. if you are dying for the touch screen, get the Tytn 2, personally i like the smaller form factor.

  • ed, on htc website it says only UMTS 2100. are you sure it can do UMTS 850 and 1900?

  • It seems to be the best phone ever.

  • the s730 is listed as having GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS850, UMTS1900, UMTS2100. so it should work on at&t in the usa (which is umts 850 & 1900).

  • some sites list the s730 as having built in gps, some dont. is there any more info on this?

  • ok I am not buying it, it does not support US umts, no touch screen.

  • PWaw, it has only 2MP, you can see it on the back cover (in phone pictures)

  • Serious pitty no touch screen and no fm radio!!

  • Your quoted as saying "The device has quad-band GSM/EDGE" but the specs here only list tri-bands... please fix

  • Is this a touch-screen device? Coz I dont see it clearly in the specification!

  • This has got 3 mpix camera, not 2mpix! See pix at engadget.

  • this is it for me. I am buying it too.

  • Sweet! Take that, and eat dust lousy apple!

  • Im buying it!
