hi. if you forgot the password, you'll need to hard reset. press and hold the reset AND power buttons. When you see the orange screen, press and HOLD the hang up button (the one with the red icon), until you see a white box with a confimation request. To confirm, press and hold HOLD the designed button. You're done! Good luck M2

My initial experience with the X500 was very good. I was very happy with it. However as it aged, nasty problems started to appear. Within a couple of months of purchase, the mini-USB connector stopped working properly and the unit had to go in for service. The manufacturing is not as good as on other smartphones and as a result, the battery can easily jump off the contacts. Almost everytime I take the telephone out of my pocket, it has to be switched back on again. And that in itself is not an overly quick process.

I love this phone since it has everything I needed as a university student. I use GPS a lot for getting to places such as park and malls. WIFI works great for me since I am in a campus with wireless network so I get to receive my emails instantly. Windows Mobile provides all the apps such like opera mobile and Microsoft offices as my savior. 5 stars for this 007's secret weapon.

i really dont know what r u people talking about !!!! this phone is the best value for money !!! 1- GPS is fantastic.... i tried it and it is 100% accurate and it lock to the sat. in seconds! 2- screen is amazingly well done... coming from p3300 and atom pure... it is very very good for watching videos 3- battery life is great!! 4- the phone boots up with 77 mbs and 32 free ram !!! 5- sound quality is very good it has everything in a fantastic and unique shape and it does everything well !!!!! paying much more extra will get me the TC cruise with weaker proccessor and lower screen leg, !!!! C'MON... if u dont know how to use a PPC... STICK WITH NOKIA

Do not buy this phone, it's slow, cheaply made. I have for a year now and I have had nothing but problems. First of all the Eten service is very poor. Secondly upgrading to WM6 was a nightmare, the key lock is broken, it won't switch off, the battery sucks and the onboard software is useless.

DON'T BUY IT. (also rebranded as a Pharos 600)I have had it serviced already once for a lockout problem and now the gps has failed (waits for a signal that never comes), I have read others have had similar internal gps ant failures. Phone has never been dropped, or exposed to harrsh enviroments.

i own this phone make sure u kno what u have there is a x500+ witch is vga screen and the x500 is svga -- okay volume is an 8 i guess its not horridly low by any means seriously but 1 thing i dont like is when using tcmp player to up the volume on things played it doesnt handle this pre amp out verywell the speaker gets crackly but like i said that is not any reason to say its a bad phone it just means that hey it ant that loud but its only slightly lower then any other great htc phone i had and thier freakin loud, anyways what i do see a diff in is the sounds quality in other phones that are loud they all sound very hi pitched no bass this x500 has a tad better sound- okay also id like to note that the midi polyphonics of this phone has a whopping 192 channels okay most other phones have 32 so most midi ringers u use instead of mp3 are going to sound almost mp3 like just no voices and those midi tones can be way louder them normal mp3-- if its such a prob use audacity to alter ur ringer files --- okay i had sooooo much trouble getting tomtom6 on this phone omg it was a week long ordeal thru countless reveiwing on forums and surfing tons of non usable bit torrents i have only found 1 working tomtom software that is cracked for this phone and its in spanish !!! lol the maps i got are universal maps i guess and the tomtom software is basicly a .cab i installed it has installers for bluetooth and more but i dont need them cause my gps reciver is built in so i dont kno the complications of all that , anyways a great freakin tool to use is sirf tool u must be carefull to not adjust anything only use the program as it scans ur phone and will tell u its port and baud rates witch have to be exactly correct or ull get no gps signal or no gps reciver found issues, after that take the sirf tool off seriously anyways the maps are a whopping 1gb on my mem card and the tomtom is about 7mb installed works great i love it i had to install the eten keyboard tho its a mmust along with gps veiw to make sure its sees sat's 'note u cant run more then one app using the gps at a time - no matter what i did i never got good results with the google gps software or anything else at all , i didnt try telenav but i didnt want it either ... yes the phone is not totally new age sleek but its still very aceptable in looks and the 400mhz cpu god is that nifty i have a tmobile wing a tmobile mda a tmobile dash and a a1200 moto ming now this x500 is closest to the a1200's speed but u have to think the a1200 has a 312mhz linux system too .. anyways i like it i some hang ups on it and some issues but i can deal with em issue 1- the sound volume- not as big of a deal as every makes it out to be - issue 2- power button on the side - im used to it on the top issue 3- unknown problems with gps and windows when switching to wm6 do so at ur own risk some report thier no problem some report they can get thier gps to be seen this might be cause windows changes the com port and the buad auto maticly if this is what i think it is then use sirf tool to find out the baud if ur blue light doesnt blink ur gps hasnt been started no blue light ='s no gps working i guess this may just be a wm6 issue with not seeing the light blink idk ... i may have just been one lucky dog .... issue 4= i cant installed any htc hacked files lol i try to install 6tab home screen and it works but no result on the screen ... i may have a self made rom on my phone cause i also get the msg sayin .cf ver2.0 is included in this rom please uninstall to install .net cf ver3.0 but lucky i use no apps that require the newer .netcf files for the newbs thier just windows files that basicly make the main diff between wm5 and wm6 plus some other stuff i really dont kno about .. i will say i tested a load of games and apps that seems to only half work or not make a diff at all on the phone , iphones slide to unlock tomb raider opera tomtom all work perfectly, SPEcial TRICKS! to reset ur x500 hold sideways and get ready to press and hold the camera power a red end key all at the same time now press the reset hole in and as soon as the screen flashes maybe right b4 it does let go of the reset hole pin and hold those 3 buttons for like almost 20 sec a white box appears and u hold the left key to tell is yes to format to org rom backed up inside .... if u do this the wrong way u may come up with a lcd test screen thats neon green - dont forget a softreset isnt totally bad and always clean ur files up try mem maid if your lazy it cleans and has a bunch of usefull tools -the tomtom is a pain in the ass to get working id offer the files up for grabs but its a total of almost 1.8gigs and my map files are not individual so i cant just pick what states i want my tomtom home software for my pc reads i have tomtom on my phone and everything trys to install voices but i havnt looked into that - note spb fullscreen keyboard sucks ass good layout but doesnt stay ur default plus when it is it has probs with other apps and stuff wanna install ur own keyboards and have them auto changed to them when ur phone starts then u need somthing called sipchange.cab google it iphone slide unlocker s2ul stands for slide to unlock google it , find more stuff on www.surrealnetworks.com some of the mda and the dash software runs on the phone , i cant get landscape to work for nes games tho bummer it auto defaults to portait mode, i also have spb modile shell 2.0 witch is a must have unless ur going to nstal htc's home screen plugin witch is also a hack and sometimes pain to get to work if u have a tmobile wing or u do get this to work ull find some instances of the homescreen 4 and 6 tabs have a weather updating problem u must use wifi to gain weather info even if gprs is avalible ,, the walkthru i found was on xda developers website in the forums u can serch it by serching n2a's weather its the guy who made the scrips for it that works , anyways that all might be old issues by the time u read this ....... if u want htc home screen on ur x500 with touch flo ull need to look up somthing called touch commander now i liked it i loved it even but i couldnt figure out how to pay to register it or hack it so it went by by - also people set up ur power setting and display settings then u wont be crying over poor batt cause my phone uses its bluetooth gps and phone all day long some off and on and its never dead at the end of the day unless i listend to mp3s all day long on top of that while gpsing it . my final rant and rave , i wish it had a slide volume key i wish the power button wa son the top i wish the mem slot was somewhere else it makes me feel like some one will jack my mem card too easy on the bottom or if i dare lose it that would super super suck ... im also using a 2gig card have not tryed sdhc cards in it im told if ur x500 doesnt work with sdhc thiers a rom upgrade that allows it but ull also might need to specially format the card , also if ur gps programs lagg hardcore u need to defrag ur mem cards or buy a card with a faster load seek time - im happy to help others as no one dared help me thru any of my torment at all - [email protected] ps if u need more battery on the go and u kno ull be using alot of gps time walmart sells a 4AA battery stick inthe photo dept for 10 bucks it has a usb port on it and some models comes with a usb to mini usb its in a yellow plastic package looks like its cheep but works great for on the go backup power just keep ur usb with u that or walgreens sells a cig lighter plug for ur car that has a 2x usb slot on it for powering usb stuff thats 7 bucks so those are my cheep fixes when thier really really needed - ps touch screen when touched in some ways does make a slight ripple on my lcd not a prob and not a defect tho this intergrated on the touch part of the screen alloows for better sensativity and also come on people we are after all disscusing a 2 year old pda phone witch is still bad ass overall key reasons to buy 1gps 2touchscreen 3bluetooth filetransfer and memcard hot swap 4 battery life 5 it has all the familar stuff ud expect = a 2mp camera and a flash 1 thing i DO NOT LIKE DO NOT LIKE i cant simply hold the power button down and shut the phone off its either stand by or battery out and its off ,, also leaving the battery out of the phone for 3 days will reset it since it keeps setting saved by battery and also might be weird to mention just like the macbook air this phones internal mem is not on a rom chip or rom at all its actully all saved in a flash mem just like ur flash mem card like a ssd device - unsure if this is a con or a pro

Not, very good device... I had it for 6 months and I sold it. Battery usage is poor, even with mild use I had to charge it at least every other day. Receiving is bad, I lost line many times in places where old Nokia worked just fine. And last, the service is bad. It took over a month to get my device repaired because of a broken camera button and software bugs. When I finally got it back, there was no battery and the back cover was missing. I�m lucky I got those back afterwards. No Eten products for me, ever.

I love it and I hate it. I love the slim design and GPS. I hate lower sound (ring tone and earphones) and low memory. Is very fragile. GPS antena broken when it's fallen. Little fall. GPS antena is very expensive. About U$300. I'd already see three X500 with GPS antena broken.

I bought this phone 1 month ago. i give this phone 8/10 1st of all is the design of the phone. i am satisfy with the dimension and the design. it is very slim and make it quite portable. about the ring volume... some of the ringtone given are quite soft which make alot ppl think this phone's ringtone volume is low. I make myself a high pitch ringtone and its reli loud and i never miss my phone call from the 1st day i bought this phone. plus the strong vibration.. there is no reason u will miss a phone call. about this phone's quality..... i m a rough user... i've drop this phone for so many times(until the paint come out) and the phone still working well... one thing bad is.... the camera not good compare to other same line pcc although it is 2.0 mp. cannot take pictures nearer than 1.5 feet. the image goes blur.... the 400Mhz processor which makes the phone quite stable. can watch high quality movies without lag. main disadvantage is no 3g connection.

had the worse luck with this device , I have bought 2 of it after about one week it stop charging then they said the mainboard is broken and that's not with the warranty so you have to pay about 300 us dollars the other one after about 3 days it was inside it's pocket and in my pocket i had take it to answer a call and i realized that the screen is broken !!! and also they want me to pay 166 dollars is this fair ??? I think this device is really of bad quality not strange made in china I am going to trow them away if any one want to repair them and take them just tell me

Hello Samuel, this a reply to your queries: 1) are you sure about the loud speaker, can you turn the volume up?... and about the voice speaker can you turn it lower???? Yes I'm sure.. the speaker volume is low when it's ringing.... the voice speaker is great and you will find it at level 3 by default, so you can turn it up to level 5 and down to level zero. 2) does it have the msn software in it? yes it does, you can chat and receive your emails eventhough you have only the free account [not the premiume one].but pls note that when upgrading to WM6 you'll immediatly lose this software. 3)does the ram get full when you surf in the web? I didn't observe that. 4) can you tell me how is the screen? It's fantastic, so sensitive for tapping on, so bright.plus the Transcriber works smoothly. Later,,,Bye

Hi Everyone. I bought this PDA ten days ago... the speaker is too bad,, you can hardly hear it ringing whatever tone you've chosen. but on the other hand the voice speaker is too loud when make a phone call. the camera also is very bad and it hangs sometimes,,,, but I should say that the connectivity and the powerful CPU are working amazingly, you can turn on the WIFI + Bluetooth + GPS plus making your phone call smoothly without any hangs. the battery is amazing too,, it lasts too long and you can recharge it in a very short time.... a final word: I am sure you will love it as a pocket PC but not as a phone.

Please post your experience regarding this phone used in the AT&T/Cingular network in US. Things that I'm concerning: Signal Strength Voicemail Indicator (My old PPC phone will not tell me if I have voicemail. I have to check periodically.) Thanks.

If you want this pda to work with T-mobile you will have to set up : Go Start/Settings/Phone and then select the Other windows on the bottom. The T-mobile is using 1900 MHz and you will have to select the 850/1900 Band, and it will work.

I don't know what to say !!! It's a good phone with some software but I was seriously disappointed when I tried downloading WM6 from eten page, first the download link is broken and none of the emails in the site work and I received error messages. What is this !!! also the sound quality is not that good and it is low. Honestly I feel sorry for buying such a phone. My advice: Buy a good brand mobile and u will get a good value for money.

I have bought it since february and it's really THE GREATEST!!! Nice shape, very elegant, slim comparing to the other pdas, and the gps function is all worth it! The pics are good quality, the audio is perfect it's like you talk to the other person right in front of you and it eliminates the surrounding sounds. Another nice feature is that is has WM5 on it and you can get so many useful programs FREE on the net! Books, easy to read, games not just stupid games like on the normal phones where you get to play with 5 keypads but even strategy and adventure games!! Programs for work, even ultrasound waves to eliminate the mousquitos :)) Sms savings and more. I can't tell you how happy i am that i don't have to erase another message again! All in all, I LOVE IT! I spent a small fortune on it but i don't regret a cent!

Does anyone have problems with dropped calls when getting another incoming call/ call waiting? Every time someone else calls me on call waiting while im on the other line, it drops the call (I cant just put the first person on hold and even if i ignore the second call it still hangs up!!)

I've got this unit just a week now and so far so good. The only thing that I'm not happy with is the speaker - not loud at all. Volume is already in maximum but still the sound is very poor, though the output of the sound is clear. What I love most is its Quick Link feature to make your screen like a computer desktop (all program icons are displayed on the screen). I am using a 2GB card and it works fine. Camera & video recording is OK not bad at all specially in a well-lighted environment. What I am looking now is a video player that plays .avi video files as the built-in player which is the Windows Media Player can only play 3GP video format. So, anybody from you guys installed another video player in unit (like Core Player) which is compatible with Windows Mobile 5.0 and where we can download free of charge? I think all of us using X500 should share anything relating to this unit, e.g. software application, problems with the unit, etc. etc.

To: Mr. JM, I would appreciate if you could let me know how to activate to FM radio. As I said to my earlier post, there's 3 country as a default (Europe, Japan & USA). When I turned on the radio, I can't get any FM station in Saudi Arabia. I've got Nokia, Motorola & SE and they are very easy to tune-in once you open the radio, but I'm having a problem with my X500 radio. I would appreciate your help. Thanks.

Indeed, Glofiish X500 is heavier with about 20g, but please takes into consideration higher capacity of the battery. The speed of the processor is good -since 3rd March when I began to use it works well: no lack, no resets even if I opened 3-4 application in the same time. With a fully charged battery GPS works continuously for almost 7 hours -I have not car charger. If you use only the mobile phone it works for 3-4 days. A 2 GB micro SD card is more than enough for an ordinary user. I do not like the leather case: it is difficult to use it, especially when phone ringing. Those days it is cheaper compared with the beginning of March- so, if you plan to acquire a new PDA, take this one as a very good option (prices in Romania).

I'll take 400mhz over 200mhz any day. If you don't have any plan to multitask, I am sure 200 is more than enough. Have you even seen the lag on a 200 with Media player and anything running at all? If you want numbers, check out the link below for Spb benchmark.

for all X500 fans....HTC P3300 is beter because have the same function but is smaller and light with abouth 20g and most important have a 200Mh procesor witch work at 32bit rather than 400 at 16bit. and the last thing the p3300 is only 400 euro in ROMANIA

hi, looks like many people like this phone which made me think to buy one. i will really appreciate if somebody answers few question: when using gps navigation, while it is directing route and if somebody rings my number, does it stops navigation, or does it actually shows call coming, or what exactly it does, and is the processor enough capable to take call and run navigator in background as well, and when call is finished the navigator screen come back? i am in australia, where to buy this one? is it locked to any network in australia? i've heard my friends say that pda with mobile feature is very slow, as compared to only pda, is that true, if yes how % slow it is? thanks for the answers in advance.

i bought my phone 2 weeks ago... used it for 2 days... everything is great on the phone... just a lil too much functions... GOT A LIL PROBLEM: can anyone tell me wut does this mean 'a wireless radio must be attached to use the phone'? i woke up one day and it would let me place or recieve calls.

I have got one for a month now. Really worths the money every second. The low profile - design 7,9 is a bit drastic I would go for a 8,1; Features - 9; Performance 9. GPS is becoming more popular than 3G. and working great over GPRS (Wayfinder). Skype works just prrrrfect over wi-fi. I didn't reset it but after installing programs, as a must. Fits inside shirt's pocket without pulling it downwards. Twice lighter than immagined before buying it. Great Choice!

very very cool this PDA! I just get one, 3 days ago, price EURO 500 and I can say "It's the best DEAL" - PDA phone mobile - since at list 10 years of mobile ...... and so many mobiles I used( every 6 month I was buying a new phone model). Internet conection it works just perfect, also GPS is brilliant; phone is ok. Camera 2MP PICTURES ARE OK AND video as well. Only one small negative detail: about MMS - If you want to send a picture via MMS is not working and when you receive a MMS picture you heve to downloud to see the picture....but surprize ?! not working ?!?!!! do anybody having the same problem about MMS? Anyway I'm happy with my new PDA

Great phone , I warmly recommend it to anyone, it has the looks, it has the brains and the power ... gsp, wifi , wm5, 400 arm, smallest and thinest ppc in the world Doesn't have any mapping software but you can't get anything you like from the net and for free ;)

I've had X500 for 1/12.Battery fair,GPS good but look out for right software.Works well with Parrot car kit. I use a magnetic holder on the back in a Landrover and it hasn't fallen off yet.Some of the functions could be quicker. However SUPPORT from ETEN non existant! Voice Commander does not appear to understand any language that I'm familiar with. And finally you don't get any software (that I can find) on the CD with the Phone

I've got a X500. Quality is good and I think is one of the best PPC out there, however it has a lot of software issues. Coming new versions of ROMs may fix them. Check out ETEN users forum.

I think it is a good device , having all the functions like GPS , Wi-Fi , Bluetooth , GSM phone , 2.0 MP camera and even radio .....all in one . A pity , though , it is not 3 G !!! A small place in the globe named Hong Kong , the retail price is HK$ 4580 ( ie US $ 600 )

Yes, The X500 does have an flash. I don't know which people posted it didn't have an flash (maybe because it isn't written on the site), but the X500 has one. If you want to know it shure, check the images at google, or send a mail to Eten.

Got this device a week ago. Pretty impressive, finally someone has created a device which is feature packed and is not laggy or hanging at all. The device is rather fast and is able to multi-task easily. I am able to run the GPS, a phone call, Radio, and Wi-Fi surf at the same time. No delay and prompt response in switching. Does not come with most basic functions, but then again I have bought a number of softwares from online just to add them back. The phone is good for Pocket PC users, pretty straightforward usage of general functions. A total hassle when it comes to configuring, took me forever to configure the wi-fi, bluetooth etc. even with the manual. They made the configurating options very badly. Its almost like an engineer is required for that. Besides, that the phone has a good video recorder, picture quality is acceptable. Speaker not as loud as I expected it to be. Battery life is very good. Used abt 4-4.5 hours with gps on navigation. Talk time is about 6 hours.

My friend used to have a PDA2k and like you never used the keyboard, but when he bought the kjam he couldnt stop using the keyboard. I believe that the keyboard on the PDA2K is a bad one,which is why u never used it. Whereas the one on the kjam, similar to the one on this phone the X500, is a good one.

I believe that there is much talk about nothing in this page. This device clearly rocks and its price is more reachable than many others. It is also setting a new category for others to follow. GPS+GSM+WIFI+BLUETOOTH. Also ETEN is selling Destinator 6 and iGo for a reason. They are compatible. I think iGo is the best navigation software by the way.

I think the guy who wrote such a negative post about this device bought the htc too quickly and now he is really disapointent so he need to send this kind of post to make him feel better. No dude this is a relly nice device...in fact i would say is probably the best pice of gadget in the marquet at the moment. Now I dont realy know what to do ..as you probably know the eten glofiish m700 is coming soon wich is basicly the same as the x500 but with an embedded keyboard. My question is the follow. Of course it's not on 'comming soon' status any more. In Poland it's widely available. Owners say it workes well, only minor shortcomings. The most important I read about was WiFi failure, bad SIM card recognition when operating on different settings then default and the leather case included in package does not have a beltclip :) The good thing is that the producer releases new ROMs from time to time.

Looks like the killer machine. I am just concerned about the GPS navigation software. Looks like the only solution available today is the one from Route66. Any insights whether you can run Tomtom Nav 6 on it ?

HTC guys, I think you can look at your killer. Well done E-ten i think this is going to be my PDA. Butter PDA and even chepper that P3300...just a big taller but is thiner ..so i wont notice in your pocket ...About the Asus 535 also look nice but....first is thiker and second is late.

I have reached the concussion that people voting system it is not fair by GSM Arena. Please note that when one votes for a phone, and say give 10 marks for every field, Design, Features and Performance for some Manufacturers like NOKIA the counter for HITS goes up by 3 points, one point for each 10 marks, for other manufacturers say like E-en go up only by 1 point for all 3 x 10 marks. Therefore the Hits: it is not representing the true value. It is it an error in their counting system or is it a deliberate arrangement to promote certain manufacturers? Personally I believe that they are favouring manufacturers. If you have any doubts try it yourselves.

Some time back I commented that the O2 Orbit was probably one of the best PDA phones I have ever seen. I take all that back. This E-ten X500 looks even better, It is the first time, that the manufacturer give the Standby, and Talk time, and I have to admit that both hours are impressive. The processor at 400MHZ it is twice that of the O2 Orbit. The only item I�m not sure how to compare and have an opinion is the GPS. The one has the TOM-TOM Navigator 6 which is an excellend GPS the other GPS receiver with SiRF Star III chipset which I do not know what it is. This E-Ten it is defiantly a go go for me.

Asus P525 is 15g bulky and it has a stupid position of jog key (in b/w key 2 and 5) Asus doesn't come with FM reciver. So over all Eten really rocks and I'd love to have one soon it come out
