If you don't need to read your emails, surf the web or play stupid games, then this is your phone. Sure you can do all of these things, but no-one really likes to use java midp apps, wap-internet or read emails 20 characters at time on the screen. This is old school phone meant for calling only. It's very easy to use, battery lasts long, sound is strong and clear and menus fly fast with its 512MHz CPU. I have had two of these. Best usability I have ever seen. Only bug is that the round button on top of the phone is going to get loose within a year and drop off. And still the button (or the rest of it) remains usable. Great phone!

There are a lot of themes in the z6. You need to modd your phone to use themes. Just search Fulaeetoy in youtube. He has themes for this phone.

Hi, I have got one batery for Moto rokr z6 cpl of months back. The name of the batery is EBAK. its not from motorola but a renowned battery. and trust me its far far far better than what motorola is providing. When i used to use the cell with original battery, the power used to last just one day and sometimes not even that but by using the ebak i get power till 2 days when using on average..

Santosh ji, Do not panik yaar, I use this phone and for what purpose one buys it for and it does not work and then one complains. Anyway, one of 2 things you could do, either completely flush out everything (make sure save all your Data 1st) then re-install the soft/firmware as it sounds like it could have been, I know this sounds rather far fetched but it does and can happen, spammed or even hacked Or One of the function buttons could be stuck. Have you got or had any water or moisture got around or near the phone? Open it up, battery cover only, not in the direct sun but just somewhere it is dry and free of dust, for a couple of hours. Then if all that fails, I suggest check with Motorola Tech Support for advice and see what they say. Good luck. Jon Royse Sydney NSW Aust

Linuxmod 3.0 is out! I Just installed it yesterday and it's awesome. My 2 year old z6 just keeps getting better. no problems so far. Thanks to the Devs who still creating CFW on this phone even though it is old.

I had purchased a z6 on 01 Jan 2009. Before one year the battery got week, The keys was not working. However I got the battery replaced. Since yesterday (14 May 2010) my mobile is functioning automatically. it dials or send message to other mobile automatically. it changes the alert tune, take pictures, switch off, switch on automatically and all function in the mobile it does it automatically. I just recently updated my fw from R60_G_80.33.27R to R60_G_80.33.4FR thru RSD lite. Big improvement on the Linux O.S speed, boot up time etc. The most noticeable enhancement is the bluetooth stereo profile. I'm using my S9 and it's much clear NOW and produce a very good Low-frequency effect. it's worth the update.

This is by far the best mobile phone OVERALL I've ever owned. Then I went and got a 3 contract and this phone is not supported by 3 (in Australia). My questions to you all: has Motorola released another phone like the Z6 which is 3G capable, or can take the 3 USIM? Before you mention the Z8, had one and returned it twice, modded it and had pretty much no joy and the keys hide from you, hard to use. Don't know about Z10?? Is there a new Z6 3G out there??? Please help, I LOVE Motorola!!!

u have to flash it, if do it i will play every thing on it, u can also play snes games and playstion games. u can see videos in high quality in format RMVB (withoout flash it), use Easy real media converter 1.94 config it to 320x240, 15 fps, bitrate 300 kbs this phone is really great.

in this phone u can play even .avi,mp4,wmv,mov and many other things of video format's and u can put subtitles too...its nice and looks cool.battery its not so good but u can put a larger battery on it.this phone have bc50 but u can put bc60 really easy and battery life will be improved :>.now with the latest patches(kernel patches)can even support swap memory and SDHC cards up to 16GB.i love this phone.moto FTW

I got this phone last week Wednesday and so far I am REALLY impressed. I was skeptical about the Motorola models because I had problems with the PEBL U6 because the battery died quickly but i love this phone. Plus it's my first experince with a memory card available phone so I am loving it. Plus for a 2MP camera phone the quality is really great........Well Done Motorola!!!!

Moto Z6 is a nice phone.If u know how to use it its a great phone.I managed to install skins and many other things like Mpkg's apps and many many other.I dont have the reboot problem because i use a stabile sw version(.44R)and a modded f/w.battery life its pretty good and camera looks more then fine.I recomand this phone,its fashionable,and its cheappest than "blokia".btw video camera screen can be set to record 352x288 and its a good thing.Good job MOTOROLA! I bought it for Rs 9,200/- on 29.05.2009 in vizag, see how i was cheated in the rate by BigC.. Battery is too dull, Battery getting exhausted for 30 mints of songs play Auto switch off during operation for reasons not known and even after changing the batttery on 10th day of purchasing it.... Contacts are getting deleted if u remove ur sim once so many worst features, but the BIG-C of Yzag cashed in on my innocense... I have Z6 more than a year and it works great! The mediaplayer is perfect,I�ve never had problems playing mp3 & mp4 video files and the picture quality is awesome. Just a perfect mobile phone, what can I say. By the way I�m a big motorola fan, I still keep my old phones: C333, V300, V550, V980 and V3X, and all they still keep working.

I've had this phone for about two months. I thought this phone was really great at first, but then I received some problems. I'm a guy that texts a lot, and I use t9. After a month, the center button already fell off and the ring is about to fall off. The camera quality is starting to slack and I get a few dropped calls. The battery life dies quicker whenever you use the music player and the headphones aren't that great. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this phone because of all the problems I got.

I bought the phone like 5months ago and already had to be fixed 4 times, the sound is good but the headphones are not that good, also the wire is too short and unconfortable, the battery dies too fast when ur listening music or playing. The camera is good on daylight but at night u have to be very close to get the flash to work.The conection with media player is nice easy to add music and playlists. I had problems with the phone storing playlists they get erased after a couple of weeks. I don't recomend this phone .

hy guys.i just bought my new phone z6 the orange version.it looks very very cool and shiny.the loudspeacker its sounds nice and clear but the headphones are not so great.its a solid phone but not heavy it gives you the feeling that is a resistant phone.i hope that the batery life will be like 3-4days.the keyboard it feels great and easy to use for me.its body is made of a strong plastic.the screen looks good have nice colors but is not a big screen because the phone is small too.thats it for now i will write more opinions of mine later when i will find more things about this nice phone.see you.

when u r in call, the press the option key scroll down to menu option and select it, there comes menu on the screen, then go to multimedia, and in multimedia go to voice or sound recording, in this option press the center key or select to start recording, when u end the call, it asks for saving the voice record, save the voice record, and then go to voice forlder, and play the call recorded, its very easy, just try it.................

i got this phone a month ago and i already had to replace it 2 times, even after the first replacement it is still not working right and its still turns off by its self. frezes and the mp3 player frezes and i have to take the battery out and turn it back on.

I hate this phone!! it was really nice after i had it replaced litterally three times and got one that actually worked, but i've had this one for roughly eight months and my end button doesn't work, the pictures aren't nearly as good as they were and sometimes it just randomly decides when it wants to send pictures and when it doesn't.. i finally had to make an insurance caim on this phone because i can't stand it anymore... i can't wait to get something that actually works..... (and i've taken very good care of my phone)

this phone is soooooooooooooooo bad! do not buy it! ive had it for almost a year know and i have had it replaced three times! the middle button, the ring around it, and the clear button all fell off. a screw just fell out of the phone and i have to use duck tape to keep the top part attached to the phone. the hold button only works half of the time. the battery can never make it a full day before dying. and most of the time it cant send text messages, you have to restart it and then the messages are magically able to send.... i HATE it!

Hey, has anyone else had a problem with messages coming up on their music player like: refreshing database and rebuilding corrupt database? it just keeps doing it over and over again and i can't get to my music. I've only had the phone two weeks and had to switch it out and the new one started doing it in a couple of hours. Any suggestions?

nah, I was just tired of it as well. Besides, the chrome paint was chipping of and as I said the d-pad also went missing. Without the d-pad it makes everything more difficult.

Allow me to share my life with The Rokr Z6: We wanted each other very much. It was true love at first sight. We followed each other everywhere. We held hands, played ball. Even spoke sweet serenades. Then all went to hell about two weeks after the useless piece of s**t was bought. Its eye refused to see. For the minf had become corrupted. Then the d-pad fell off. And touch became unbearable. Then the phone randomly typed messages and made its best friend the fool. Sometimes even made random calls. What may stranger have heard me say and do?! The software became sluggishly slow as its mind wandered into the unknown. It would freeze often, refusing to be apart of this relationship. And switch on and off on it's own. (At least it switched on) It was tired all the time, not wanting to go out or play a game, preferring the company of its bed-mate; the charger. But that stopped when I got upset and spoke my mind. And now it no longer switches on. So, I woke up this morning (15-01-09), realized I overslept because my phone refused to work and the alarm did not sound. I calmly got ready for work, knowing I will not make it on time, got in the car and proceeded to drive to the office. I stopped in front of my parking space, next to the building entrance and switched off the car. I stepped out and placed my phone on the pavement. My blood surged. I felt alive. Dangerous, even. I drove over the phone. I was looked at by a colleague in horror. "Are You MAD?" He exclaimed in disbelief "Not today." I replied calmly, a smile etching itself onto my face. It sounded helpless. Not dead yet, but dying, and whimpering; pleading for a reason for this vengeful act. I then reversed and drove over it yet once more. Then another for good measure. I could hear its little body bouncing up off the pavement as the left front wheel pushed it out from under the car for the third time. I ignored the screams. There could be blood. I must stop Again I got out of my car and then examined the phone; it was badly hurt, awfully bruised, but not broken. Not even the screen was cracked. Saddened, I took it between my hands and twisted. I was numb. It once again gave me the same pleasure as when I first bought it. How exhilarating. How quickly forgotten. Faded memories. Now my 1000-odd sms's are lost with the wind; my contacts will be forever hidden in its troubled mind; and its beautiful voice will echo no more... Farewell, my friend. May you haunt your creator as the symbol of their failure to respect the consumer they spawned.

Oscar, I think the sounds/vibration you're getting is an alert for a missed call, SMS(txt) message, alarm or calender event. I have had 5 Motorolas and the last 2 did that, but you can turn it off. So, the sound/vibration won't stop until you acknowledge the call, SMS, alarm or event

when my boyfriend purchase this phone for me i was ver excited, but i have also known with having a perivous motorola phone, sometimes the dont work.. okay, well after about 6 months of using this phone.. the center but fell off, the send button stop working all together.. so if i want to dail a number i have to add it to my contacts and dail it from there by pressing okay like 4 or 5 times, it contantly drop calls.. and it never really keeps a charge i know the standby time is suppose to be a few days, but when it cant even get through a 15 min call without the battery icon comes one, you should know there a problem.. i have service with uscellular and they didnt even want to replace the phone.. after much convincing and practcally threating to end our service they sent me a replacement phone, but it was a lg (thank you) i would not recommend this phone.. i mean come on after a 129 bucks plus tax you would think it would last at least the 18 months it suppose to before i could upgrade.. this phone.. sucks.. but there is one good thing.. i do love the speakers, and the mp3 player works just like a personal boom box..

yes u can, u juz hav to compress the song using a program on ur pc like any audio convertor or sony acid and then put it in ur phone's memory card and then click the menu of the song, then select copy or move and then select to phone and it will be placed in that exact folder of the phone, but in the phone's memory. after that, return to the songs folder, click the menu button again and go to switch storage device, and choose phone, go to that song again and click menu, go choose "apply as ringtone"

First it was the button in the middle, then it was the bar to slide the phone up and finally it was the metalic round piece in the from. My phone is still working, but without these accessories, it is much more difficult. Going back to Nokia!

Mine does the same thing and so does my husbands. I think it is a pretty common problem. Plus, I HATE that you cannot use the songs that you download as ringtones. That was one of the reasons I bought the phone. I was incorrectly told that you can do this, but you cant. Also, this is the 3rd Rokr I have had because the thumb slider and the chrome soft key circle on the front of the phone are just "ticky tacked" on and come off very easily. It is annoying for the thumb slider to keep coming off, but it is immpossible to use without the chrome softkey circle on the front of the phone.

Been using the phone for the past year now, and I can really say that it is a very good investment. PROS: 1. The Linux OS is very good, the most user friendly OS in the market right now. 2. I had the Z3 rizr which was the same body style then i upgraded to the apple iphone and now i am buying this body of phone again because not only was it the best phone i had but it beat the iphone by far, the iphone has so many defects its not even worth the money, i had the Mobile Safari app crash 6 times in one day, i asked many people who had the iphone and they experianced the same problem. i got the phone for xmas 07 its nearly that time of year again. worst phone ever, it turns itself of, freezes, screen goes black, plenty of bugs and problems. when i slide it it grinds, loudspeaker is dodgy not very loud, the wireless headphones are ok, battery always needs charging, middle black button and middle orange donut button fell of, phone calls dont go through, neither do text messages, have to recall and resend texts. only good thing is picture and some sound quality. i got a nokia 3200 in 2005 and it still works but i wanted a new phone so thats why i bought the motorokr z6 and im not impressed.

Ok to put themes you will need a new frameware . First google download rsd lite 4.1 as i put it ,thats the program to install the frameware . Then go to modmymoto.com sign up and download a new motorola rokr z6 frameware be CAREFULL you don't wanna download the wrong thing at all anyway and the readme should help with the rest .

if you really want to put mp3 in your phone you can put it from the extended card. Pull the extended card from the phone and put it in a memory card reader. Its really simple copy and paste. Works for me !!

OK this phone is a masterpiece but there is a whole lot of problems that could occur if used wrong, for starters NEVER!!! copy applications from your phone to memory card because if your phone has any corrupted data on your phone it copies and your memory card is accessible but your window media player is completely useless and you get alot of unknown file types popping up and they cannot be deleted or anything else on your memory card so you must hook up to a pc and copy your memory files and format it and its good to defrag your phone memory to...............and for everyone who is having problems with this phone with wma files this phone does sync with window media player 10 and plays wma to and does use applications with great speed and color i know because im using my phone to write this.lol.

I have had my rokr for about 5 months and i think it is amazing. I really love the mp3 player and camera it has. About 2 weeks after i first got my phone it started acting up and it would not send messages unless you turned the phone off and on again. Then it just started to work again. I have not had problems until yesterday. None of my buttons on my phone work. I cannot check my messages or make calls or anything. I have turned the phone off, taken the battery out, pretty much everything i can think of. We are taking it to US Cellular tomorrow but if you had/have this problem let me know what happened. I am still low on cash but I currently own the ever-so-popular V360 which I love so much.. Hi everyone! I'm planning on buying a new phone and the ROKR Z6 is one of my choices. Now, I have a few questions about it; I'm really hoping for some answers. :) 1. Is there an option for "Group Contacts" or caller groups? I need to pass on announcements to classmates and having this option would really help a lot. :) 2. This is not fair!!! You make such a nice phone and add some weakness to it. 1. 780 mah battery - not sufficient for such a feature packed phone. 2. No FM radio. I am repeating NO FM radio in this phone.

To improve battery life just put the brightness on 3 the brightness is what kills the battery 3 and 6 is not that different . I have no idea how to update the framework i just need help with that.email:[email protected]

The easiest way to boost battery life in this phone is to make sure that your keys are locked at all times so that the backlight turns off. The lock is on the right side of the phone and is the lower button-- just slide it up. When you want to use your phone just slide it open and the lock will temporarily go off. Slide it closed and the lock will go on.

@tessie In order to install some skins on it, you must modify the firmware. there are some websites that have guides on it. I would recommend modmymoto (dot) com, there is a dedicated page for rokr z6 modifications. Don't be afraid, it is easy and all of the programs you need can be downloaded for free. But be careful, you do need to read all of the basics to avoided ruining your phone.

After almost a month of owning one, here is what I observed: 1. The audio quality is really really good. When playing mp3's I think the sweet spot is by enabling spatial audio and setting the level to 4 and bass boost to 5. For me, it is on par or might be better than SE walkmans (Used to have a SE W810)even if there is no built in equalizer. The downside of the S9 bluetooth head phones is that if the phone is kept below the belt line, the signal becomes choppy. The good thing is there is also wired earphones that comes with the phone. 2. The build quality is what you can expect from a motorola. The phone feels solid and looks very classy. Nokias and SE build quality does not come close to this (I am not biased, I was a SE user before). The screen is readable even under direct sunlight! Not many phones can do that! 3. Camera quality is really good, if not surprising for a 2mp camera phone. My friend who has a SE K810 said it is as good as his phone. One drawback is since this IS NOT A FULL FLEDGE CAMERA PHONE like the SE K series, it has no auto focus w/c you don't really need 90% of the time anyway. 4. The most important feature of ANY PHONE is the CALL QUALITY. And here, motorola is king with the CRYSTAL TALK technology. Some claims that when talking with someone, it is like the person you are talking to is in front of you, but that is not the case, however, it is really really close. 5. The interface is very very good. The Mobile Linux (MOTOMAGX) offers a feature rich interface. Even if this is not a smart phone, often times, it does feel like one. I forgot where I've read it but it was said that the phone has atleast a 400 - 600 MHZ processor. With a powerful processor and a great operating system, the interface is really fast. The talking phone is really nice too, I made mine to speak who the sms message is from instead of playing the sms message tone. 6. Since it has a powerful processor, it does affect the battery life. The most Ive gone so far without charging is 2 days. If I use it like a normal phone (since I play a lot of games, watch a lot of videos and listen to music w/ the bluetooth headset), I think it could do 3-4 days. 7. Modding. With basic knowledge of modding, you will see the full capacity of this phone. I modified mine so that video capture would be 352x288 @ 15fps. I installed a few skins and it may not have a game boy emulator, I do have a SNES emulator on it! The verdict: Do I love it? Yes I really do, it is worth every cent. Should you buy it? Yes you should since it is one of the best phone in the market, if not, also the sexiest.

I have a MAC OSX and have all my music under i-tunes. Is there a way I can transfer the i-tunes mp3's to my ROKR Z6M ?? I have a 2GB Sandick Microsd memory card in the phone. I've tried using a USB connection from my pc to my phone and it is unable to transfer without software, I think its due to my provider MetroPCS. Is there a way I could buy a Microsd reader and plug it in my USB port. If I was able to transfer my Mp3's this way, would I have to change the file types in order to download them to my phone ??? If anyone could please help me I would gladly appreciate it... Thanks

im not quite sure of that as havent tried that yet... call restriction is easily possible on symbian fones.. but il hav to check wid linux os... jst checked some blogs... one thing u cud do if a person is bothering u is that save his/her number n then set its ringtone to silent.. this way u wont b bothered atleast.. you can do dat to the msg ringer to for that specific number.. still il check for the software if its available n working... til then, u can use this trick..

anyone faced this prob with this phone? the phone does not detect the memory card when the phone is restarted. I just bought the phone yesterday and gave my SLVR l71 to my sister. So far it's more than I expected. I was to buy the razr2 v9 but got disappointed with it's OS. The phone is brilliant! However, since I only had the phone for a day, I wont be able to do a full assessment. Maybe in 1-2 weeks.

To respond to many of you, this phone doesn't have animated wallpaper -- but I don't see why it can't be done. It's Linux OS. GIF images work as screensaver -- why not as wallpaper? As for the battery life, it lasts about 4 days for me. But guys, use a phone as a phone and not your regular MP3 player and if u do use it as a MP3 player, then don't expect 3 days long battery life. I love this phone -- but they have just come up with Z6w that has built-in Wi-Fi and had I known that, I would have waited a bit longer to get that phone. I am not experiencing any of the problems that you guys have listed (knock on wood).

I've had this phone for about a month now. I'd say its pretty godly. Theres a few things I question though. 1. Somedays the battery life is long and last forever, somedays it last not even a day, wtf mate. 2. Every once in a while I'll be texting and i go to look at the text and it says its still sending and so i push re-send but the crap still wont send, so I have to turn her off and then back on and then it will send the message, it's pretty lame and inconveinant(sp?) 3. Every some odd times when your opening the slider your screen splits in half and you have to open and close it to get it back to normal, it's weird. 4. Even though the music player is fo shizz the bomb, when your listening to your jams and you get a text or something, your music stops playing untel you push either read or cancel on the text, and then the song will start up again, but it will start the song over for like a second and the go back to where ever you were in the song, it gets on your nerves if you like tunage while you text. So those are really the only things that bug me. Other then that this phone is pretty yummy and a nice thing to have ever so gentally in your right pocket. A good thing is the 2 megapixel camera. It doesnt work worth crap during night in the dark but it's a dream in the daytime, and it can record like 10 minute videos if you have the SD card. It's also super easy to upload the photos you take onto you computer with the USB cord, it imports your videos and photos as if it was a digital camera itself. Well I hope this was helpful. Hi.. i think u shud go for Sony w810. It has got lots of features than Z6, like controlling ur laptop with blue tooth.. etc. Music quality is also better in Sony. All the best.. (May be u shud choose a better model in Sony than w810.. It is getting out dated)

heyy, i got this phone, and for some reason, two weeks later it malfunctioned, but alltel replaced it. well the previous phone (that malfunctioned) would receive music and allow me to apply them as ringtones to my phone. now the new phone (same model and everything) allows me to receive and store music, but not apply them as ringtones. Wow! I'm kinda impressed with this Opera 8.5 browser. So just a question for all the Moto Z6 users: Can you watch videos from the flash video websites like YouTube through this phone without doing a need to pay a streaming fee to our network provider? I mean the one that how the PC does it? Say for example when you click a video and once the page is completely opened, the video directly plays just like how a PC does it?. Hope this isn't a silly question. Just don't have idea at all.. I've just bought Z6 yesterday and found out that the camera resolution can reach only at a maximum of 1024 x 1280 and the other settings are:xtra small = 120 x 160 small = 240 x 320 medium = 480 x 640 As far as I know and also stated in the specification that 2 Megapixel camera must have 1200 x 1600 resolutions.Is this an error or what?

Its Good but when it comes to music its a peice of shit!! If anyone is looking upto it I would advice to look for better options if ur are looking for music but if u wan good resolution and Cam clarity...GO FOR IT!! cos its cam clarity is awesome too good for a 2MP cam but when it comes to video's they are too pixelated...moreover the music is crap even wid the S9....even the battery is poor and it heats up even after 15mins of usage....but Yes the web browsing is amazing******* All in all an above average but not at all worth spending 14 grains >>>> Features:- Amazing Camera clarity; Good web browsing... Drawbacks:- Music Player could have been a lot better..It is really pathetic!! Video resolution is very poor.....If any doubts or questions please feel free to ask=)

Hi Hari, I did turn of the Info Service and still it is not displaying the location on the mobile. Is it the same for you? If it is displaying, may be Moto guys might have fixed this bug and you are having a newer firmware version.... lucky you.. :)

I got this phone yesterday, and it is awesome. but i did have my share of problems when my camera was in memory card settings and i tried to take photos it said "unknown error", then i formatted my memory card and now it works fine. I read some posts that Tower/area information is not displaying so searched in the net and found that it can be enabled by message->settings->info services->receive info services (Turn ON). so far so good, it has awesome music and cam, love that slider.......

i have this phone. i think it is a great phone. teh camera has great quality, the music is loud. it has a very nifty lock on the side which keeps you from calling people while your phone is in your pocket. i have memories from my old phone. haha. but if i were you nad didnt have this phone, id go out and buy it. =)

I am having this phone for say 6 months.. Slider is perfect even now except little loose as when i brought it..but you wont notice it. This phone is having excellent resolution and speaker phone is perfect loud and clear. Treble and bass is good. i rate it 7/10. The thing i frequently use is cam and as a walkman in my car when i get tired of FM music. The bad thing is it wont play all formats of music as done by Moto MING. It wont open RTF, PDF, TXT formats either, so you wont be able to read while you are travelling. Battery eh, lasts for 2 - 3 days for me. I talk for abt 3hrs a day and occassionally use camera, take 2-3 snaps and hear music on speakers for abt 15-20 mins within this period. I rarely use headphones, but they are also gud to hear in.

I mean just darg&drop from your pc *.jar file, then click install, and it works. And next question how is th slider after let's say half a year of usage? It would be not a good idea to buy this mobile for linux and mac users. I've got this peace of .. phone. Motorola has managed to create linux based phone which is impossible to connect to Linux & Mac desktop (using USB). Windows only ... and this is absolutely stupid :)

I got this phone before Xmas and I can say that its very good. I like the design and its very cool looking. The screen is nice and bright and there some lovely wallpaper pics on it as well. I also think the music sounds great on it. The only fault I have it the battery goes quickly when using the music on it I only got a day out of mine when I listened to music on it.

@ manoj kumar Yes.. Your phone is surely infected with a virus. It was the same with my Nokia N73. It sends messages all by itself.. You have to always bare in your mind that this Moto Z6 is having an OS (Linux Based) and this is the same with all Nokia "N Series" and Nokia "E Series" that also have OS (Symbian OS). So you have to be careful since these phones that i've mentioned that have OS in the specifications, including Moto Z6, is HIGHLY prone to viruses than the other phones that are running only on Java. 'Coz these phones that have OS are STRONGLY having a high risk of being infected with a virus than those Java-based phones since these OS-based phones support ALL viruses while those Java-based phones only supports a minimal amount of virus.

It works itself like virus in the computer . . when I press option button in home it types "8" and itself do somethings ( some times it sends message to any number ). . when I press "Main menu" it types "4" and it opens any menu . . Stay away from this POS. I got one Nov 17 2007. Today is 1.4.08 and I'm waiting for my THIRD replacement, fourth overall phone. The problems are the same each time. Won't charge fully, keeps saying "Unable to charge". Stops sending and getting text messages, even though the phone indicates they went through. Time after time...Ever try to return a cell phone? That doesn't work very well. I love the reception, the battery life, the camera quality, and the cool factor. I hate that I can't use the basic functions. Bottom line is this phone is a major POS that Motorolla needs to either recall or repair.

Rokr z6 has got one of the best displays in the market! Colours are vivid and bright!! A very decent camera with flash.. Extremely fast Linux interface!! very stylish!! decent battery standy..could be better if they could increase in the futur software updates... rich sounding music player but lacks total sound output when played through headphones.. Awesome voice clarity.. I think the phone will be made even more powerful in the coming software updates having a 650Mhz processor speed..

Well, its my 5th phone and I love it. I was using Nokia 6600 then switched to N72 but it was too slow so I switched to this phone and it rocks in looks as well as in quality and ease of use. Good things that i liked in this phone is the fast interface, build quality, sliding ofcourse, screen quality, sound Bad things are also there like the camera has no motion blur correction, you have to keep your breath on hold to take a picture but the still image quality is good. Video is the poorest I have ever seen, it only record video in 3gp in vga size. Redialing records are only 20 so you can't track old numbers. Well to get maximum backup you need to charge it in switched off position otherwise it will only last for a day. No softwares or games available till date. Reception is not comparable to Nokia at any cost, it lose signal where Nokia is working. Well, it has more of the bad points then the good ones but still I love this phone due to its metallic and sleek look.

I m using Z6 premium Edn that came with 2GB microSD & S6 BT stero headset for the past 4 months. Somethings I observed, Good n Bad: THE GOOD: 1. At first glance the phone looks like the usual Motorola new look phone, till the stunning phone display quality reveals itself. Well proportioned body dimensions and contours and unnoticeable unglazed finish in the gripping areas, which helps in firm grip of the phone even for the careless user & The top of the class slider. One can observe how important these features are if we try to handle Samsung D900i metallic series instrument which tends to slip off from the palm unless carefully handled due to its larger width & glazed gripping area and it slipped off almost when I handled it the first time; One should be able to clutch a mobile phone comfortably with fingers and palm; it is very importation for people who donot sit ata desk all the day but move around. And the contours/thickness of Sony 830i/850i sliders fail us in this aspect. New MOTO phone sliders are THE BEST though 830/850i sliders are also good and lasting but not with the feel of a �warm knife slicing through a block of butter� as I feel in Z6 slider which is intact even after initial usage of 3-4 months and the eager spring mechanism closes the slider with a confident thud; appears and feel to last quite a longtime. These are the basic things a user should look for esp., who use the instrument for making/taking calls for more than 75% of the time. 2. Top class display quality among 262K peer models. I find all the 262K displays are not of the same quality in terms of sharpness and colour contrast in all the makes and sometimes even the models of a make and definitely new Motorola phones have now emerged as the leaders in this department. Voice quality is crisp & Speaker vol level max. is adequate even for an unsophisticated listener, but not as much as required to allow silent damage your ear drum sensitivity, which has gained importance these days with i-pods and the lot. 3. Though battery is 720 mAh, may be because of Linux OS it lasts quite a longtime for me(80% on calls, rest fiddle with phone,music etc) Make sure you change Band from Automode to 900/1800 which saves a lot of power. 4. Reception with the S6 Bluetooth Stereo headset is of very good quality , good for a decent distance. Camera is OK. Voice dial also works well with some practice. The phone rarely hangs up; happened once, which can be reset only by forcibly pulling the battery as I couldnot switch it off and restart, but it happened with just music player on without any other stuff running along. 5. Messaging is a breeze unlike the earlier motorolas, but it doesnot allow the templates to be edited as we need and send right away. One has to save the changes first before sending. The 3 factory themes are v.good. The phone can work like an external drive to store all files on the 2 GB card as unidentifiable files, since Z6 has no document reading capabilities THE BAD: 1. The very bad phone features or lack of it are: All manual redials appear as multiple entries instead of just indicating the number of redials /missed calls alongside as in case of other phones, that too within the paltry 20 call history limit, filling it up in no time. 2. Fast edit and dial of recent nos. from history/phonebook is a big pain. For eg: when you need to make attempt to dial nos. in a series when you get engaged tone number after another esp., in networks/PBX boards that donot have number hunting facility. 3. One cannot access Missed Calls & Inbox messages directly from alerts on the homescreen, which has only two useless options of Clear & ClearAll, which need to be mandatorily pressed first & then punch another stupid confirmation buttom to reach home screen. From there press the usual series of buttons for Inbox or alert. The four navigation hotkeys are the only way to access some deeply embedded functions like 4. It appears there is no way to get the tower information /area information, in the unabled networks, which I couldnot switch on inspite of best efforts. This is very useful in road/rail travel where you can readily see the place you are in (rather the tower it catches) without the need to ask anyone around. I couldnot do it even in on my wife�s W220 basic Motophone. I am not a motofreak but I liked its trendy and VFM proposition which started with RAZR series & the features and feel, after seeing my wife�s basic Motophone 220. Nokia I observe is providing more features for the same money but of late it is failing in performance response, hang-ups and they are not at all sleek, rather like bulky brick pieces. But as a package Z6 is also a good VFM and for those who cannot maintain the sophisticated stuff like touch screen phones E6 or Motoming 1200. REQUEST: Can any one suggest the sites where downloads/applications for Motorokr Z6 Linux OS are available. Especially to comeover the above difficulties. And also to empower the phone in document reading capabilities atleast Word & excel may be even Adobe reader.

Hi your'll i got the Rokr z6 about a week ago an the text messaging is crappy when I tell you this I tell you all, to me it need an upgrade, anyway the capacity is great although the speakers could have be a little more loud, more Volume other than that it is the bomb no doubt I would encourage you to purchase the z6 ( to the manufactures you need to change the text messaging, volume and battry life)besides that it is ok

the z6 is way much better than the z3. i've seen one, the resemblance is only skin-deep. the z6 is shockingly very fast, i guess it has the fastest processor around. plus, it has a Linux OS, sturdy housing, and the most vivid screen i've seen. anyway, i just got to toy around this lil beast at a showroom, so i can't dig into the details. but this is really worth the money. (i'm planning to buy one this xmas. ho-ho!) bydway, i haven't tested its texting capabilities. i don't know if its quick to respond. z6 owners, care to enlighten us?

I own this phone...And it's so fast.I never feel that fast speed in a cellphone in my lifetime.Sound quality via A2DP is superb.It beats my Rokr E2.Via headset stereo S200 is good too.Video playback is at 400 kbps and 15 fps in Real Media format.Some said that it could play at 25 fps.But I haven't tried it yet.No radio is fine for me coz I don't need FM Radio.I have had low end W210 with FM Radio.

Hey, for anyone who wants to buy this this phone don't make the wrong choice by not doing so as I've had mine just for a few days and it rocks.In just the first day i bought it it was so quick and easy to use the stereo blutooth headphones that come with it and all the other accesories are awesome. You will love it great features PC Syncronisation is easy and fast to use aswell as or the other great features. i bought that phone just for it looks hoping that the rest of the functions would be just ok..however it seems tha motorola is not able to manufacture a really good device..a lot of problems with the most of its functions appeared just from the first week og my buying it..(it couldnt recognise the memory card,it couldn t play all the songs,although they were mp3s, it kept sticking many times,and not responding to the orders and i was obliged to take the battery off to make it work again..)it is really a pity that i can not base on it..i really need to replace it ..there is no reason to buy it guys!sorry.

I just got this phone a couple days ago. I was wondering if anyone else has had problems of hearing your own voice (and anything around you) back through the phones speaker. Mine seems to pick up anything and everything and sends it right back to me. It can be hard to hear the other person if there is a lot of background noise around you. To buy black or orange colour depends on you. But , black looks solid and decent , while orange looks funky and stylish. So , u decide what suits for you and go buy it. But , whatever colour you buy , u will surely enjoy z6. The handset is worth buying.

Nice music phone, but not as polished as SE Walkmans. When viewing music in library, you always start at the top. I find this irritating when I only want to check the tunes I have for an artist midway down the list and return to the main list only to begin all the way at the top. Also, the �shuffle� mode is flawed. After playing say 16 songs from the entire library, those same 16 songs will replay themselves in the same order. Only way for me to hear everything on my list is to go through it in order, alphabetically � and what fun is that?

Dont buy maxx v6. Go ahead and buy rokr z6 , because , z6 is powered by linux os , which is advanced feature wise when compared to maxx v6. Since z6 has os , u can store unlimited number of msgs and u can store songs and videos in .rm format , which consumes very less memory. So , dont think about maxx v6. Just buy z6 and enjoy !

Guys , yesterday i went to the mobile showroom and checked out z6. Well , regarding sound clarity , its really really good. Its very loud as well as clear. It supports songs and videos in .rm format , which consumes very less memory , but gives awesome clarity. But the screen is very very small. Actually , screen measures 2 inches. But by looking at screen , we cant say it is 2 inches. But still , the screen brightness and clarity is excellent. Camera is also nice. We can even create folders in main menu and submenu unlike other moto handsets , which is really nice. Totally , it is a nice handset. The only drawback is that we cannot install any softwares ( in .sis format). Apart frm that , handset is xcellent.

i wouldn't recomend this phone. ive had it only for 5/6 months. i have a tendancy to drop my phone a lot and this one does not widthstand the test of dropping. i lost half the colour the 2nd time i dropped it. it drops calls often, the battery dies pretty instantly as soon as the "low battery" comes on. oh and lastly, i put it in my pocket the other night and the center button actually came apart. its only heald by glue. so my phone is garbage now. i highly recommend u not get this phone.

Just got this Orange and Black Z6 on a new plan in Australia and i'm extremely happy with. Had a Nokia 5300 and the quality on the Z6 is far better. Headphones that come with it are brilliant sound and 1gb memory stick is sufficient. No problems as yet.

My Z6 is not getting detected when connected on computer using Mandriva Linux..Earlier I had E398, which would get detected..On setting USB connection to Media Sync., it detects the device as a camera, but does not show any files..Can I please know what could be the problem?

Very disappointed with this phone. It is cumbersome to use and navigate. for one you cannot view your contacts phone #s without having to go four clicks, five clicks to link up a three way call. Editing or changing a contact info is pretty hard you always have to go to "Options" click and click and click, then you have to to Options again and save. it is just too many steps to do one simple function unlike the Razr or Slvr models

hi friends ....i have bought a new rokr z6 2 days ago ...i wud provide a detailed review about dis phone in coming days ...but my first expressions about dis phone ... 1.much has been said about sound ...i erlier had v3i ..it is definitely louder than v3i...my cousin has w580 ....i have heard sound thro both these ..nd when comparing the sounddd of these ....what i feel is that i can say that as though rokr is not equally loud as w580 ...but its loud ...d speaker is loud ...there is very little difference between d sound of both thro speaker (w580 a bit ..(i say a little bit ..not very much) louder... 2.d camera takes good pics in day light ...flash works well in artificial light nd low light ....but d pics taken by w 580 nd nokia 6270 r better...so i can say camera is not very good ...its medium .. 3.nd d other thing i wud say is that a normal 4 mb song takes 3 secs to transfer..so tranfer from pc is fast 4.d build is strong....feels durable when held in hand...very good screen resolution ...good reception...stylish ...

I want to know if somebody has tested both phones and can tell me which one she/he thinks is better and why. E2 rocks, the sound is like crystal. I really like listening to music trough the Motorola bluetooh headphones. The display is perfect and pictures and pretty good (specially for a Moto phone). E2 has just a weakness: sound is not too loud as I wanted but side music buttons and overall phone style...I love them!. I want to know more about the Z6. Of course I know it has a 2 Mpx camera over 1,3 Mpx on the E2 but I want to get focused on the music matter. Anyone have tested and used these phones?. Oinions welcomed. Thanks.

Z6 has great bass and treble through speaker.I recommend u to buy this phone.It's the best sound phone I've ever used.It's loud and clear.It beats my E398 from the quality.But E398 is louder.

Can I also ask how do you use the phone with the slide shut? I can only use it shut if Iam receiving a call and use the speaker option.. Is there a menu setting that allows you to operate this phone with slider shut...Please help me :-)

Ravi: You can make and receive without opening the slider. But it feels cool to slide and talk. On the other hand the phone looks small when you hold it next to your face while it's closed.

This phone rocks.It's so fast and the sound through its speaker is so loud and clear.Just set the bass boost to 6 and U can feel the bass.I didn't face any software problems.It's Motorola.If U got any software probs,U can fix it by yourself.U can search the software in internet.No need to pay any money.Not like Nokia and Sony Ericsson.If U use those phone,U should spend a lot of money to fix it.I mean if ur guarantee is over.

to all people complaining - please ensure you get the box packed in singapore. the chinese ones (the latter ones) are facing all this troubles. i have mine made in singapore. got a battery back up of entire 2 days (2 hrs on phone + 1 hour music + 60 messages) hanged once when i tried playing music while charging (on speakers) . no fm radio and poor cam - yes its so. but you get a 5mp sony cam for half the price. and i got it for 11000 INR 2 months back. perfectly happy with the phone - only sad part is couldnt get a proper headphones.. still hunting for one

Guys!! i used ths phone 4 few months n then i experienced sm software prob.... then i got my software update done but after few days i faced the same problem! although when it cms to looks, its gr8. but if u hv time jus go n check out the motorola service centre......... u'll find tons of people complaining regarding there motorola phone!!! Better invest on a Nokia or a Sony Ericsson. U wont regret later!!! (Jus Aan advice)

BEWARE! those who plan to buy this phone for music nd vids....beware 1-speakers r average......evn a k750i hs better speakers nd is like 5,000Rs less 2-LAGGG!use more than 600mb on the mem card and the fone laggs....like a n80 3-i got my fone and it worked properly....but in 3 days the true motorola bugs crept in and took over~it froze every 2 mins! So fellow indians and other nationalities......plz do not purchase this phone till all these bugs are fixed....as u will feel really bad wen u find out that it wasnt wt u expected

I've had this phone for only one week and I've had to replace it twice. I'm now waiting to replace it again next week. I am finding that when I adjust the volume while playing mp3s the sound cuts out for a second. The sound also cuts out when I go in and out of network range. Motorola Australia have told me that the three ROKR Z6's that I've had so far may be from a bad batch (don't they bother with quality testing anymore?). I have wasted so much time going backwards and forwards to the dealer for replacements as well as emails and telephone support with Motorola. Motorola's support has been less than satisfactory. My last phone call with their customer support line told me if I wanted the phone replaced it would take longer to do it through Motorola than through the dealer. Basically, I don't think they care and would prefer you not to bother them. My dealer spoke to his Motorola representative and explained my issues and the rep's response was "what does he want?" The dealer replied "a fully functioning Z6!" They told the dealer that I should write down my issues and send it to them. Motorola telephone support also said I should put it in writing and send in a complaint. Obviously complaining over the phone is not enough for them now days, even though they have notes and a case i.d. describing all the issues I've discussed with them already! They want me to waste more time and possibly they hope that I just won't bother. So rather than wasting any more time with them, I thought I'd share my experience with a wider audience. This may be a good phone when it works properly but God help you if you get one from a faulty batch and have to deal with Motorola Australia. If I wasn't stuck on a 24 month plan I would swap brands.

As I own one, I'll give a little insight; The camera is OK. Just OK. The colour rendering is even throughout the image and better than most Motorolas (IN FACT IT IS SURPRISINGLY GOOD) but the handset tends to blur ALOT even with the slightest movement. I don't know if this is on my unit only, as I haven't heard anyone else complain. Video recording is only at QCIF, but I believe future software updates may change this. The sound is not bad, also better than most Motorolas, but not quite SE, I think. Although, switching on the S9 gives it one helluva punch. That's when the rokr starts rocking! It's got stereo widening and bass enhancement. Stereo widening works very well, but bass boost decreases volume significantly. The drawback with this handset is the built in speaker, it could have been better / bigger. The software does compensate quite a bit. The slider is absolutely perfect. Way better than the Z3 (I had one) it's smooth, spring loaded and sturdy. During the first week, I opened and closed the phone as much I could, and the only thing that wore out was my cramping thumb. The battery could be better. Its life is much lower than the z3 (due to the screen, most likely). Java games drain it within 2.5 hours. Lowering the brightness helped alot and didn't affect the visibility. It was clear even in direct sunlight. I am very happy about that. The shiny chrome finish does not highlight fingerprints. In fact, they are almost non-existent. I was surprised. Also, I haven't experienced any dust creeping in under the screen as I did with the Z3. Seems they fixed that problem. The platform is apparently called MotoMagx, which is, as I understand, not the same as the software on the E2 (Which was Juix). It's newer, with far less java and lots more Linux. That's why people have been unable to mod it, I'm told. Although, the UI is almost the same. Any questions, feel free to e-mail or ask here.

There is a reason why the software is a bit unstable: It's still new!!! It is not like symbian or windows (which is also not perfect) that have been around for 6 or 7 years and on countless handsets. Motorola will release firmware updates as they fix the bugs. I also have a few problems but have managed to find a way around them and even resolved a bit myself. My nokia 6630 had many problems, but upgrading the firmware no less than 3 times got most of the kinks out. The only thing that I don't like is the fact that Motorola is slow in releasing new firmware. The OS is brilliant and has a hell of a lot of potential.

Yup - this phone's speaker is very good. I had the Moto L7, tried the Nokia 6120c and Nokia N95, but the Moto Z6 has a better speaker than all the others. I gave back the Nokias partly due to the rather poor sound (but also because they're built with too much plastic - giving them quite a fragile feel). The Nokias sound hollow and muted compared to the Z6. I suppose the software has something to do with sound reproduction as well - the Z6 offers very crisp sound.

I had one of these and its a hit and miss. Linux with buttons, yes. Poor camera and not that great of a life when playing music(it is a ROKR after all). Z3 is probably a better choice until moto does one of these ideas right.

I got the Rokr Z6 today! F**cking brilliant phone. Absolutely a treat compared to most other Motos. Software needs some fine tuning, but hey, it does a sh*t load better than my old Z3! The OS feels smartphone-like. Lovin' it. Great going Motorola!

@Lyinx yes the phone has linux OS. but that does not guarantee document viewer. This linux OS is different from the linux OS of Ming and E6. they are completely different format. till now no one has been able to create a document viewer for Z6 or E2 (both running on same platform). E2 has been there for over a year now and still no document viewer is available. but i am not ruling out the possibility. in future there may be, but when i dont know. @swordfish. i am using this mobile for last 35 days. i open and close the slider atleast 50 times a day. till now nothing has happened. there is a very slight play of the slider towards left but not so noticable unless you push it towards left. the slider mechanism is very tough which can be noticed while opening and closing the slider, as it opens and closes with a thud. i dont think the slider will case any problem unless handling is insane. hope this clarifies

@Lyinx @swordfish @busybee till now there is no way document viewer or FM can be installed in this phone. please read this carefully. its not possible. infuture maybe we can install document viewer (cause it depends on software and may be the OS can be modded for it) but no way FM can be installed in to the phone as it depends on hardware. the phone has to have a FM signal receiver which Z6 dosent have. regarding the third party softwares, it supports java files. please note that only the OS of Z6 is linux based which supports java files and so the OS is also called as Jiux. if anybody is planning to buy this phone for document viewer and FM, please stay away. it will be unnecessary waste of money. @karazenkara no. it does not have standard 3.5mm audio jack. it uses mini usb to transfer sound. @pras BT s705 does have 3.5mm audio jack on its top so that we can use our own headphones we like. also it has inbuilt FM. so it has a dual advantage. regarding it being available with L9 premium edition, i seriously doubt it as the ad on TV showed S9 with L9 premium edition. but anyways i will check it tomorrow and tell. but S705 was surely available with Z3 premium edition. i have personally seen it and also tested it with my E2. the earbud which comes along with it is similar to the sony walkman ones but ofcourse not of same sound quality.

I understand the scope is open for developers to create Apps for viewing attachments in doc, xl,ppt,pdf in future in Linux OS, which Z6 lacks at present(Even Nokia 5700 lacks). Is this correct ? I think the iPod style BT Pilot S705 for use with normal stereo earphones is the right thing to buy as mentioned by 'sijusid' (considering comfortable listening & without exposing your brain directly to BT microwaves continuously) instead of going for a Premium edition which provides S9 BT stereo headset+ 2GB card, though it doesn't make sense moneywise. It seems S705 is INR. 2900 as quoted by their distributor though MRP as per Motorola is INR 4500, supply against order.

my only problem with this phone is whether or not the slider will start to move left and right if i use it very often. and as a request, where the hack can i find appz for this linux mobile... i tried searching on isohunt.com , with no luck though. i'll buy this in a couple of days, it's my first moto phone. i'm tired of big'ass nokia. thank you.

@sanjay yes the UI still has the same look to it, but it's all customizable now. Although Moto is using a new OS on this phone, the UI will never change much. I wish Motorola introduced some changes to make it easier to program the various smart keys - like bluetooth, airplane mode, music, etc. Yes it's possible to do with some buttons but not all. For instance, I'm not a big "cell phone photographer" (I got a real camera for that) so I don't need a dedicated and hardwired camera button that cannot be used for accessing anything else but the camera! Pff. (Actually if I had a choice, I'd only purchase phones without a camera!!!!!)

@sup123 the phone do plays videos in full screen and next video will be played automaticlly. @confused though i have used only motorola phones, but still i agree with you. their policies for a particular mobile keep on changing . best example is the rokr series. first the E1 which was nothing but the clone of E398. next the E2, which inspite of being a very good phone still its launch was limited only to 3-4 countries. E3 was announced but never heard of it again. E680 was renamed E6. god knows what happened to E4 and E5. Also Z6 was initially slated to be released as rizr series, in the final moments it was converted to rokr series. same is going to happen with pebl U9, which is also going to be released as rokr series. i think if Z6 was initially thought of as an rokr series, then it would have atleast had FM and 3.5mm standard slot. inspite of all this i still prefer moto for the simple reason that they are more hackable than any other brand. @AFR @sanjay the linux-java OS of Z6 is way better than os of nokia n sony. its feel is completely different. its the most custamizable OS. it was first seen in E2 but unfortunately, it was not released extensively. Z6 is the second phone using this. third is the moto razr2 V8.

i just hope the UI in these next gen motorolas are not the poor bitmap based icons we're use 2 seeing. i bought the Z3 when it came out and i admit i liked it, but the UI became very annoying. please motorola catch up with nokia and samsung and sony and use some vector based app icons and images in your UI!!

I'd like to get this phone but not available anywhere. Moto corporate says these Z6 are only for UK and China. Moto UK says they never heard of this phone. But it is available from Moto Germany shop. This phone was announced last January for availability in Q2-2007 and now it's Q3 but the phone still isn't available. Nice going Motorola.. keep up the good work! Keep everybody guessing and wondering. Not a very good way to run a company.

Basically I want a lasting slider & I need to select between ROKR Z6 & Nokia E65, but I wish to opt for Z6 given that one may not be using 3G & Wi-Fi so much in the next 2 yrs in India considering utility & costs & given the feedback from users in other countries like Australia & US and also due lack of A2DP in E-65 to enjoy wirefree music. Is this a downloadable thing as some phones like Nokia 6288 slider have bluetooth V.1.2 but the nokia website detailed specs mentions about wireless music listening capabilities for this phone ? Cost between the two is not an issue for me(Upto INR: 15-16K). I am ruling out SE W850/W830(Non 3G) for its thickness & rounded contours and Samsung D900i(Non 3G) for poor gripping I experienced, esp the guys who casually handle their phones due to its width/thickness aspect ratio. I wish to go for Z6 provided it has Quickoffice document viewing capabilities to view office docs like word,XL & PDF to attach/or atleast view with the e-mails I receive. @AM comparing it SE W810, the plus of W810 would be MegaBass, comfartable headphones, FM and Camera Quality. Music quality of Z6 is comparable to walkamn player with slightly less bass produced by MegaBass. i think music player of rokr series is the only player which can stand tall against walkman phones. In terms of camera, W810 is the clear winner giving better quality shots in dark condition. outside photos are marginally better in W810. now the plus for Z6, the list is much longer. bigger and better screen, more customizable menu screen, advanced phonebook and calender, support for stereo bluetooth, better looks (subjective), better browser in opera, Music ID, Better call quality (louder) , better battery life and in future Z6 will be more hackable than what W810 is. Sound through external speaker is comparable with slightly more bass in Z6. Regarding messaging capabilities of Z6, the itap is the best you can get which even recognizes sentences which we write. a small hurdle is the keypad. if you have large hands, you may find it difficult sometimes to press the right key, but it is nothing serious. i message minimum 25 messages per day and i sometimes find it difficult to press 7 and 9. hope this will clear your doubts. @TM i have not heard sound through K3, but the sound output by Z6 (external speakers) is very loud. louder than E6. @parag. my emailid is [email protected] i wont mind if you mail me sometimes. looking forward to meet you soon. @nitesh since FM depends on hardware, it cannot be installed externally. but yes, one way is there. if you can get hold of stereo bluetooth "motorola S705", you will have both: stereo bluetooth and FM radio. its cost is little less than S9 headset but its availability is a big question mark. even i am trying to find one.

@sanju the sound output is very loud. louder than most mp3 player available in market today. even in full volume, there is no distortion in sound. sound is very clean and clear. infact i always hear to music in its full volume. @nick what were u trying to install in ur PC. motorola power tools or u were trying to install the USB?? @iliener i am using this phone for last 20 days. till now no problem with slider. when in closed position, the slider moves slightly to left side, but it is nothing serious. i have kept password for opening my messages and i receive minimum 25 messages every day. so i have to open the slider atleast 40-50 times minimum everyday. till now no problem with the slider. @khan whoever told you that Z6 syncs only with MP 10, then please make it sure that u never take advice from that guy. probably he has never used motorola mobiles. firstly, it syncs with MP11 of which CD is given along with our mobile. secondly it is only one of the way to get our songs in to the mobile. one can simply connect the phone as USB and transfer songs. one big plus with this phone is that both phone memory and card memory are shown separate USB devices, which is very unique and handy. We can create as much folder we want and copy songs as we want. the phone automatically detects every song from both phone memory and card memory. also there is no need to manually refresh as is the case with E2. other way includes using MPT software which coms with phone itself. lastly using bluetooth. transferring songs to Z6 is by far the easiest and fastest till now. @parag shah i bought my E2 last august from singapore for RS 13500. it is not available here in India. acyually, it was going to be launched, but at the very last stage, its launch was cancelled. infact, it was me who first gave its launch date in mumbai in this very site. i had got the information from one of the moto agent. but god knows, why it was not launched. its current price is below Rs 10000 if u can buy it from singapore. but i would suggest you to go for Z6.personally i am more satisfied with Z6 than i was with my E2. by the way, i am from panvel, mumbai but i work in Malad at mindspace.

Felt a bit disappointed that the E6 does not have good sound enhancement options, after all it being from the ROKR series. Maybe will wait some time more before making a decision. This phone is mindblowing,the whole open source linux means that it is super fast,virus free and highly stable. It can be upgraded or modded with ease, When u use the phone it makes u happy! the speed, the flawless environment, the user friendliness i have never experienced it in anything other than a nokia , is challenged by this beauty. The battery aint that great, if Moto could improve on that sector i would rate this phone the most powerful,userfriendly mobile anything below Rs 30,000 (INR) could buy. Simply mindblowing.

Yesterday I've finally received my Z6. When I try to install it to my pc it can't be detected automatically. When I manually select Z6 it gives me "Insert SIM-card in the modem". SIM is installed correctly. What can I do? (maybe important: German phone with Dutch SIM).

@hehe, remove the drivers, then reinstall. If that doesn't work connect to a different USB port. That should fix the issue. @tanvi, The JUIX (java linux) is more stable & it is customizable. If you don't like the location of things simple put it where you want it. There are very few apps available for the JUIX OS cause it's new. The main thing is stability. The new Address Book is as advanced as any smart phone & in some ways is more advanced. All Z6 users visit www.freemod.net forums. The more we learn the better we can make the phone.

@sanju, all webpages open in one single page and we have to scroll only downwards. sideways scroll is not required. the pages are similar to what we see in desktop, only difference being they are ordered from top to bottom. The web browser is very good. you can open more than one page at a time and toggle between them using #. also the links in one particular page can be opened in different page just like we do in internet explorer, when we want to keep our current page. web pages can be saved. also its contents like pics can be saved. speed depends on the signal strength. the better the signal reception, better will be your browsing experience. but one thing i would like to tell you that, i was able to log in to my yahoo account, but i was not able to login to my rediff account. by the way i am using the free planethutch in which i pay only as much i surf. @avinash if your mobiles goes dead without charge, just plug your charger and wait. the mobile will automatically start and will go to airplane mode. just wait for 2 to 3 minutes and press the on button. the mobile should start fine and signal will be there. @hehe remove your memory card compltely out from your mobile and plug it again and then restart your mobile. if it still does not detect, try formatting your memory card using your phone itself. @parag shah i personally own both E2 and Z6. my brother has E6. my previous phone was E398 which i had modded it with E1 software. so actually i have used all the rokr phones. for me personally Z6 is best, followed by E2. E398 had the best speakers. regarding your dilemma between Z6 and E6, i would say if you want a phone with bigger screen, FM is a must, document viewer is necessary and a visiting card scanner is required go for E6. else you will find everything better in Z6. if you are looking for a music phone, then Z6 is better as the default music quality of E6 is not a match to Z6 specially if you want bass element n your song. through stereo bluetooth the difference again the difference is with the bass. all this si because due to the spatial audio and bas boost working very well in Z6. there are no such settings in E6. E6 only has equalizer but it produces minimal difference in sound. one more thing in favour of E6 is that videos are viewed better because of its bigger screen. in rest all the features, i can say that Z6 is better than E6. be it menu system, operating speed, bluetooth handling, music quality, phonebook, calender, etc etc. also one thing to note is that both Z6 and E6 run on different platform. E6 is EZX based whereas Z6 is linux-java interface. Z6 interface is much better than E6. if you want a soecific comparison between the two, ask me. regarding the audio converter, there was one guy from banglore who was selling it in ebay india. i had ordered it but sadly just today i got the news from him that the product quality is not good and he is giving me a full refund. now i am going to buy it from international ebay which may take atleast 20 days minimum for me to get it.

Hi Sijusid, Waiting for the ROKR E2 turned out to be a futile experience. Finally after a long time, the ROKR E6 and Z6 have caught my attention. I am more inclined to buy the E6. Do you have any experience with that? And which would you advise between E6/Z6 with the pros and cons of both? And also did u get the mini USB to 3.5 mm audio converter? In fact, my phone connnections come to fault too. The problem(I think) is that I did not disconnent the USB correctly from computer, i.e. not clicking "safely disconnect USB". I tried modem, memory card and mediasynic but no detection on phone. What's the problem?

Please Help, i bought my z6 some 20 days back. whenever my phone is completely discharged and powered off,i try to put it back on charge and then switch on.at this point the phone doesnt catch any signal. i have to charge my phone so that it can start on its own and then it catches signal and after that i have to chage it. i want to ask that is it a normal behaviour or somethings wrong. please help me. i wld higly appreciete your replies.

as someone mentioned, i dont get connection errors or USB problems, its really working beautifully. may be some problem with ur computer USB port. try connecting in another system if u can. iam able to install themes very very easily, i used this phone for one month, i dont find any faults in this phone, worth for the money!!

@sony i bought my phone from panvel, mumbai. its the black one just like the one to the left of our screen. i bought the regular version which had 1GB memory card, USB cable, headphones, charger and user guide. The premium version will come with a 2GB memory card and S9 stereo bluetooth headset with a price difference of approx Rs.3000 to Rs3500. i am not sure about the colour of the premium edition but most probably it would be black too . @sanju i respect your choices but i feel that you should keep W810 out of your equation. there are many other walkman phones which are better in features than W810 like the W610. but finally choice is yours. @shrads i have never faced any problem like yours till now. the call quality and reception is wee bit better than my previous phone E2. try selecting the 900/1800 band from your network settings and see if there is any difference. about your USB problem, can you tell your problem in detail.

@sanju here are the answers to ur 3 questions. 1. yes, there is a beep sound when recording call conversation at a steady interval of 10 sec which can be heard by both the persons. but the recordings do not have beeps. 2. Music Player. The music player is very good, infact excellent. previously i had E2 and my brother has E6. i have modded both phones to give better quality sound (loudness and increased bass), but still the default Z6 beats both of them. its all due to the fact that bass boost which does not work in E2 (missing in E6) works very well in Z6. spatial audio (though has 7 levels but still difference is felt only when making it on or off) is much better than the stereo widening feature of walkman and nokia phones. the only glitch i would say is the absence of standard 3.5mm audio jack (like E2 and E6). the problem can be solved by using any mini usb to 3.5mm audio converter. i have myself ordered one and waiting for them to arrive. then i will test the sound from Z6 using sony walkaman headphones. as for the default headphones, they are pretty good and does an excellent job but the fact is that they are not comfartable to wear like the sony walkman headphones. in quiter places, the sound from Z6 and any walkman phones are comparable, but in noisier places , it looses some of its effects unlike walkman headphones. but situation may be different after i get the converter and get to test both with same headphones. But when it comes to sound through stereo bluetooth, there is no match for Z6. no walkman phones can come even close to Z6. 3. internet browser i have still not tested it so cant say much. but i had used it in my E2 for a month and i really liked it. i was able to browse all the websites including rediff and yahoo and used to check my mails. and they appear similar to how it appears if we would open it using our computers. The webpages do fit to the screen . we also have option to select the text size from small medium and large. If E2 can do it, then surely Z6 can do same if not better as both phones work on the same platform. i have activated planethutch on my phone and will take atleast 48 hours to get working. if you want i will post more details then. as for flash files, i dont have any idea. most probably, it dosent. but is there anyway to test it or confirm it. if there is and if someone can tell me. i will do it. by the way, sanju , when are u planning to buy the mobile. what choices have u selected. you are from which part of india?

This phone looks GREAT !!!!!! I liked the talking phone feature, this will read out your messages aswell as who called and who sent the sms etc. you can also set the phone to read out the menus. Its simply amazing. The sleek design is one other advantage, I am no fan of Nokia N series ( except N76 ) and wud definetly recommend you to buy this.

@sanju just check out the following site click on media guide. you will get all the information regarding the audio and video formats supported ny Z6. you will have to register in that site to view those documents. regarding csll recording, yes it can be done by pressing the voice call button continously for atleast 3 seconds. time limit of recording depends on free space available. @tolis one requires onlj jar files to install java applications while writing my review yesterday, i forgot to include 2 things. one good and one bad. Bad Thing. Enabling and disabling bluetooth:- it requires minimum 4 keystrokes to enable bluetooth and 8 keystrokes to disable bluetooth. the bluetooth menu is buried deep in to the menu. if it would have been present along with the option menu in homescreen, it would have been better. good thing. anyone who is using the bundled moto headphones for listening to music can get better sound by just interchanging the headphone marked with L and R. Meaning, the one marked with R should be used with left ear and the one marked with L should be used with right ear. there is remarkable difference in sound output.

In my last post i tried to cover all the good aspects. now i will try to point some of the things which needs some improvemnt or is missing. 1. FM. This is a serious miss by motorola for not including FM. many people will reject this model due to lack of FM considering that there is no walkman phones without FM. Rokr E2 and E6 have FM and there is no reason for Z6 to miss out FM. 2. fingerprint magnet. The black glossy finish looks excellent but also attracts fingerprint instantly about which nothing can be done except wiping it regularly. 3. Only 3 Alarms. i was surprised to see that we can have only 3 alarms at a time. although we can customize it for any number of days we want but still, only 3 alarms is a restriction atleast for me. though one good feature is that we can set the snooze time. 4. Video recording. Its a true fact that motorola is very bad when it comes to imaging and recording. there is a lot of scope of improvement. One simple example is that when we activate landscape mode, the option menu are still shown in portrait mode. 5. Missing things in media player. Although the layout of media player is very good but still it lacks somethings. a. pressing music keys opens up media library but pressing it again does not hide it as with all walkman phones or even with E2. for minimizing it, we have to either select from options or hit the back button. now when minimizing only the player minimizes and not the media library, and so if we wish to pause or stop playing music when we are browsing media library, the only option is to close the media library and then pause the minimized media player. If pressing music button would have minimized music player, the operation would have been that much easy. b. We cannot search songs in playlist like we search in phonebook. In walkman phones we can do that for the first letter. this is not as serious drawback as due to fast browsing, we wont waste anytime in finding songs. c. if in the middle of playback, i hit the stop button and again play the song, the bassboost and spatial audio option gets disabled automatically although it shows on in the settings. for enabling it , i have to first off it and then on it. i dont know whether this is a common bug or its for my mobile only. 6. Installing Themes Istalling themes should have been easier as is the case with SE phones. This are the only drawbacks which i could list out as this are the problems i faced, but really, except FM, nothing else is serious and one will forget everything for the shear joy it gives when using the lightning fast speed.

i bought rokr Z6 last week and i am more than satisfied with this phone. i had 3 choices in my mind, z6, nokia 5700 ans SE W610. finally i chose Z6. some of the exiting features of Z6 are 1. Menu speed It has one of the fastest operating system. there is not even a slight lag when browsing through menus. i have filled my 1 Gb memory card (which came along with phone) with around 200 songs and still the speed is not effected. 2. Screen Quality. Arguably the best screen available for mobiles. even the 16M colour display of nokia cannot beat Z6 in terms of clarity and brightness. 3. Music Quality Though the bundled headphones is not as good as those with walkman phones , still it deliveres excellent sound quality. there are seven levels of bass boost that can be adjusted according to our requirement. Spatial audio is the trump card for enhancing the music. i have ordered mini usb to 3.5mm audio converter from bazee and just cannot wait to hear the sound from my custom headphones. one more distinct advantage of Z6 over walkman phones is that it supports wide variety of audio formats including rm and wma. 4. external speakers Although it has only one external speaker but still it has excellent output. It will easily beat any walkman phones (except W550). 5. Stereo bluetooth Again arguably best solution available today. walkman phones have strange problem of compatibility with stereo bluetooth devices available due to which the equalizer setting (including Mega Bass) gets disabled. whereas there is no problem with Z6. 6. USB transfer. USB transfer through computer is lightning fast. each song takes a max 3 sec to copy. transfer speed is about 2MB/sec. There is not even a single phone (other than RoKr E2 and Rokr E6) which has a transfer speed atleast equal to 50% of this. even nokia N95 has transfer speed less than 1MB/sec. 7. Looks and build quality. my previous phones were motorola E398 and rokr E2. this is the best looking phone i have used. the glossy black finish is excellent and looks a class apart. The green light for charging and blue light for bluetooth indicator looks very cool. 8. Camera Equipped with 2MP camera, the photo quality is good where lighting conditions are good. in dark places, it is not so satisfactory. 9. Video playback. Due to its large processor, playing movies for Z6 is very easy. movies also look good due to its excellent screen. there is no lag and also video and audio are synchronized even when played through stereo bluetooth. 10. Talking Phone. one interesting feature of rokr series is the presence of talking phone. enabling it, the phone reads out menu item, contacts list name and also incoming messages.A cool and unique feature to have. 11. Message lock Very few people will be knowing about this feature. we can actually lock our messages using numbered code which is required to open any incoming message and also to enter in to messages folder. This is very important for me as i have many private messages which i dont want anybody to read it even accidently. Now for some shortcoming of this phone. 1. No FM. (This is one serious Drawback and i think should not have been missed for a music phone) 2. Only 3 alarm can be set (although it will be sufficient for most). 3. Video recording is not that good. 4. For people with large hands, it will take some time to get adjusted with the keyapad. all in all i can say that i got the best deal for Rs 11600. If anybody has any querries regarding this phone can ask me or email me.

@sanju. since it is an linux java operating system, it wont support any symbian files namely .sys files. the theme extension for Z6 is .chm which is same as rokr E2. Installing themes on Z6 is not possible till now, but soon can be done when people starts modding with this phone. just to tell you, the phone comes with 3 preinstalled themes and all are pretty good. although easier way of installing new themes (like on nokia symbian and SE phones) would really have been nice.

@sanju it does not have real player. it has its own unique player which supports many formats including rm files. to make it clear for you, all the sound formats which nokia symbian phones can play are played by rokr too. this is one of the advantage of rokr over walkman phones. @tm yes, we can view movies and pics in full screen. also their is slideshow feature when viewing pics.

well, the pack comes with media player 11, but for that you need Windows XP original (so couldn try it...gee). well, otherwise also, its real smooth to transfer files. no, it does not open in pocket.. got real smooth and sturdy slide, which closes with a thud. and till now, no shaky feelings. now, tell me, how do other owners potect it from scratches?? the glossy looks are too hot and sexy to let it be scratched.. im already quite possesive abt it.. please tell me how u maintain it.. and does it scratch in regular trouser pockets.. (i still carry mine in a pouch ..) touch wood :)

on bass boost: yes, it makes a difference, quite a big one on earphones. But i suggest you get a separate 3.5mm connecter and a better headphone for the ultimate effects. Yes, it smacks the SE Walkman series, not 850i though... they sound the same, quite close to iPods too (remember - ROKR was Apple creation, and iTunes 1st made appearance in ROKR series, and now in iPhone) ROKR Z6 has a dedicated music key. The ARM 11 processor is amazingly fast, and you'll be surprised coz it works at the o2 atom - Jamin levels.. its really good for users like me. got very less access times. i got mine last sunday, and i was completely blown over.. with all those moto $hits ive used till now, this one beats all mobiles (in 100000 - 13000Rs.) range hands down.. amazing screen clarity, 1 GB trans flash card.. all for 11700rs.. amazing, eh?? go for it people, all you guys there...

the Z6 will not support any .sis software. Those are for Symbian OS, which is completely different from Linux. The MOTORIZR Z8 will be Symbian-based. There's a lot of Linux software around though.

i know that there is spatial audio and bass boost settings with 7 levels available in its music player. what i want to know from any Z6 user is that whether they really make a difference in sound when heard through headphones. specially the bass boost. Is there any noticeable difference when changing levels from 1 to 7 for both spatial audio and bass boost. actually, i had went to shop yesterday and checked out the phone. i noticed that when played through speakerphone, there is noticeable difference in sound when we change levels from 1 to 7 for both the settings. i could not check it out with headphones as it was sealed. Replies from any Z6 user would be appreciated.

Again, as many people are, I am confused between Z6 and Z3. I own a pod, so no fuss over music. I guess cam is same in both. Yes, Linux makes difference, but i am not considering it much. hey ppl, got dis phone few days back...its awsome!i think this is da best phone moto has launched...at this price{arnd rs12000}, the camera clarity is very good.....but if u zoom beyond 4x,its very very bad...music volume is ok in loudspeaker,but its gr8 in earphones...the interface is cool nd very responcive,bluetooth transfer rate is also quick,nd the main part is its stlye...wht a beauty man! the screen clarity i think is da best,better than the best phones...all in all a very gud phone,nd if u can afford the blue tooth headset...u cant ask 4r a better phone than this!

its been a week since i bought this phone, Reception is great, no problem about that being a music phone, i think the sound volume should have been much louder, but cant complaint about the quality, it beats every other phone,when hearing in headphone sound volume is fantastic and also the effects. try to hear songs which is 320kbps rather 64 or 128,,coz u can get the ultimate effect. Battery - NO COMPLAINTS.GOOD Camera - Excellent. Videos, try to upload the video with AAC output sound rather than AMR. screen resolution is far far better than any other motorola phone, u can even read anything in a direct sunshine. the most lovely part of this phone is its USB transfer, amazing fast, high speed one. NO complaints regarding this one, PERFECT. BLUETOOTH IS ALSO FAST. this colorful phone is worth to buy and its a talking phone too. it reads out ur SMS and u can call anyone by voice dial with more ease than other phones. i'm changing my phone after a long time, and i've settled on Z6... finally, motorola has given a phone with nice UI. and all those arguments about music/cam.. grow up dude! if you can buy a N73 for $450, why not get a 7.2MP Cybershot, iPod shuffle and a normal phone for about $400?? i know, it sounds dumb, but i simply loved the design.. and i have crashed all my phones due to their lack of speed.. and 628MHz processor is just the right thing for me! and since i own a digicam and pod, damn the cam.. get a Rokr.. as long as it wont gimme reception trouble

As far as I know only the z6m has a dedicated music key. It is also the only version with a 3.5mm plug.

I've got the Z6, the new Linux Java UI is great. But still needs lots of improvements due to their first LJ product launch. Looking forward to its new sw updates. I'm disappointed in this music phone. 1. No music Hard key. 2. Songs in the album are not sort according to track numbers. 3. No scrolling text in music player for long texts. 4. Navigation on music player to hide mode can't go back to playlist. 5. Songs corruptly displayed in album. 6. Camera flash doesn't flash togther with camera shutter like actual digi camera. 7. Stereo BT driver is not stable with S9, sounds very choppy. When vehicle passby, lots of pauses. 8. Music playback over S9 is too sharp.Different Audio profile for stereo BT is needed and differentiate against Voice call. Compare S9 with wired headset. Hope Moto sees this and improve their product.

I got a pre-pro model and I'm rather disappointed with its battery life. Specs compare almost side by side with Z3, but the linux seems to wear it down more than help it. I can only squeeze 5.5 hours of music until its completely dead. That said, if you plan on spending a day of active use with this phone it won't hold out for more than 6 hours or so.

to arx, Out of years of experience using SE phones, I've never encountered the white screen of death (never even heard of it).. and you can flash SE phones yourself using the USB cable. You can even upgrade the firmware directly from the phone using gprs or 3g connection (or any other method that can connect to the internet) with no extra charge.. You can even send it to the service center for free upgrade. I've used many phones and Motorola is my favourite one but SE is still good.

Please don't compare the 2 SE has NO bass when comparing to the likes of rokr, Prime example would be the E1 which had STEREO speakers, when have SE put that into a phone NEVER! When it comes to music motorola wins hands down, ROKR E2 another brilliant example uses standard 3.5MM earphones, again SE doesn't, also ROKR E2 has dedicated music buttons is faster than any SE walkman has been so far, For music SE sucks, MOTO FTW! WALKMANs and ROKRs both are far better than all the musik fones if u compare walkman with rokr walkman has better bass elements but rokr has better stereo builtin speakers and earfones (they are i think similar to IPOD earfones) so walkmans are not better than rokrs in anyway i'll rate both 9/10 bcoz they r best i haves used ROKR E1 w800 w300 w850 ROKR E6(FOR 6 DAYS) i think as music features fones their places are 1)ROKR E1 and w300i (best music quality) 2)ROKR E6 and w850 (ROKR e6 has far far better sound quality than w850 but bass is lesser but sufficient) 3)w800(i dont like this fone bcoz its musik quality is just average but still far better than nokia and samsungs)

Hey guys, just bought this phone todae @ SDG$388 with line. man! its totally sleek! a lil bit heavier than my bros Samsung ultra 13.8 and much thicker.. well not a big diffence though. but theres one thing that really dissapoint me. well. on the top of the cover, theres a lil button to eject the back cover, and that colour of the button chips off easily. but its not a big deal cause its very small. not really visible when ure standing a meter apart. so, other than that, nothing else that really dissapoint me. overall, ill give this phone 8.5/10 1 more thing. remember it's ROKR. so its a music phone attracting all youths like me. =D the sound quality is really above my expectations.. its much better than that of my cousins Nokia 5300 =D `dash

Motorola removed FM-radio from Z6 because of marketing purposes. I think it was very stupid step, because with FM-radio Z6 could attract much more customers. Also, battery is too weak. Z6 is not the smallest phone, so they could put at least 1000 mAh battery. But Z6 6 has only 700 and lasts only 2,5 days.

Lg chocolate is a nothing just look at its magnetic keypad.Besides it is very, very sensible, if you damage it, I doubt you can repair it( magnetic keypad...bleah) second, it has only a 1.3 MP camera and the moto has a 2MP cam. Third, has a a better interface than KG800( linux) Fourth, the phones will have the same price, so moto is a better choice oh, almost forgot: Moto has spatial audio and is also better to playback music than LG Moto...great phone!!

woa nice gprs class 12 more cheap than class 32 and is just a bit slower (about 20%) but i prefer HSDPA even if is just the class one becuz is 3G and much faster than the expensive GPRS class 32

When i first set my eyes on this phone, my overall reaction was " not bad ". Iam not too keen on the design of the phone but i think the features are good. I do like the sliding option for one reason, and that is cause it protects the buttons of the phone. My overall score on this phone is 75%. No offence to the people who have this phone :-)

I play this RIZR Z6 phone in CES show. It rocks.. I love the music features from this phone. Nice Music library and it is very easy to transfer music files from PC to phone at USB 2.0 speed. It also support WMA audio files. The camera picture quality is great! The UI and background light is so bright.... It is a great phone to own. I will buy one when it releases.

I am currently using the Rizr Z3 and love, but for some reason my battery don't last that long! I am curious if the New Rizr Z6 battery will fit the Rizr Z3 model. I bought a V3 and after a week the 8 key only worked 50% of the time. The java is too slow and so is sms typing. It doesn't keep up to your typing when you type fast. I hope they made a better quality product this time.

the difference between the z3 and the z6 is just the operating system. the new models from motorola including the z6 are based on a linux operating system. so the point is during the linux os the system the response time wille be very short + for the fashioners- it comes in a new look.

Thanks for the video post Rich, but that guy didn't really show us anything important. He didn't even seem to know what he was doing other than scrolling through menus. Lol. The only thing important he showed his audience was that this thing supported "WIFI." The Linux UI is definitely an improvement over previous Motorola UI's. What the guy should have showed his audience was video & music playback, camera & video resolution settings, & the web browser. Then he would have successfully satisfied his audience.

Motorola should improve their products, come on same design every time they release a new phone, the phone speaker is very low you can't hear it easily, I prefer Nokia & SonyEricsson, for much better sound quality

People who go on about how many mega pixels a camera has really are clueless. Who needs a 10mp camera? it has been proven that few people can tell the different between a picture taken on a 3.2MP and one taken on an 8MP when made the same size and printed. The only things putting me off this phone are the lack of auto focus, the reports that the camera in it's predecessor was crap and my past experience with Motorola's audio player.

I was going to get a Z3 but am considering waiting for this one. Not sure why...the biggest difference is the glossy finish. Not sure if the hyped Linux OS with Windows Media (and the dreaded Digital Rights Management to go along with it) is going to be a good or bad idea. Likely would just amount to a buggy phone until the first firmware upgrade...The Z3 is still expensive at around $300 though.

It should be the same as the Rokr e2 UI, which is a vast improvement from the old UI. However, the quality of the icons on the rokr e2 is so disappointing, it looks like it was designed by software engineers with no sense of aesthetics!!! Seriously its something so simple that motorola missed improving!!! So sad. Otherwise, I am quite happy about my e2. Great sound!!! and stable software.

Its a very good mobile phone which is having quad band where the frequency will be more, So that there will be no reception problem and over that its having all the basic features like megapixel camera with mp3 playerand Edge as well. Its an all rounder

10megapixel camera has large resolution. We can't do anything with the large resolution like that. The size of the picture is too big to do anything with it. 5 megalpixel is good enough.

no the phone is smaller in width as compared to the v3....i would say this is not a good phone, specially if u use it like a toy, the camera is slow and the sound is bad, rather take a 3250 or 73, or even moto ming , or sony w950

This phone is quite nice but only seems 5 minutes since the last one was released with not much in the changes department,also they have kept their scruffy interface it looks like a child has drawn the icons on the screen with a wax crayon.any chance of an fm radio in one of your models they are standard on s/e and nokia phones.
