i flashed custom rom for this phone and it works fine. no problems so far. I can move all my apps/games to sd card. I install asphalt 8, clash of clans, mobile legends, dead trigger 2 and it works great. also the rear camera is 13mp!!!!! pictures are very crisp looking. for a budget price, i say it's good to buy.

Please don't buy this phone if you want mulitastasking and online game at the first place and i am still using this phone till now. Its a cheap phone indeed and please don't expect something more from it. As we know that, 1gb ram are too low and 5gb internal rom is just too far from spacious. Apps cannot be move to Sd Card and as the results your phone is going to hang and lagged easily with bundles of downloaded apps in the hood. Multitouch sensitivity is awfull even without screen protector which make you a little bit annoying when its come to texting ang gaming. Texting kept your phone lagging all the time BUT . . . The good thing about this phone is that it does have 4G lte connectivity. Large 5.5 inches display with octa-core processor. Expandable slor card with removable 2500 mAh battery capacity. Battery drained slightly slower when kept your smartphone online all the time if compare to my previous samsung galaxy S4 but streaming videos are still smooth. 13 mp camera is quite decent even though video recording is just above average. This phone is suitable for a simple user but for a heavy multitasking option and internet savvy, this phone is bassicaly not for you

Good value for money but lacks OTG support and impossible to get rid of the chinese in many places despite setting language as English. Also beware that usually comes with some malware preinstalled which you need to root the phone to get rid of! Other than that a great phone, easy to use and easy to get both Sims working together. Best thing I can say is I would buy another, just wish they would put OTG support on it and it would be awesome!

youtube works 100% in googlechrome app.. what you do is, open facebook in chrome then add to homescreen, so you will have a shortcut link in a homescreen, this will also save storage because youtube app is 90MB.

I've had this phone for about 1,5 years now. Available internal storage is between 4-5gigs. 13MP no way, probably 8MP with software "upgrade" still takes goods image in good light. Seems to be real octacore processor but clearly poorly adjusted on software to use full resources. No heating issues so far, it has had hard use and no problems. Only things are that it came with tons of bloatware but rooting the phone, changing firmware helped a lot.

The phone is quiet good, but after you disable all the preinstall annoying apps and disable auto updates for them. The kitkat 4.4.2 that comes with it also works well. Cameras are pretty good both front and rear. The battery last more than a day. Speaker is loud enough and calls made and sound produced from mic and speaker clear as it should be. Could not believe you'll be getting it for less then 100 USD.

For those having trouble connecting to networks.... This phone A916 has multiple protections against "roaming" data charges. Until you disable the protections... You will not get a connection at all. Going by memory.... Install sim Enable data on sim Enable "roaming" data on sim (prior to first connection, ALL towers are roaming) Enable 3G or 4G data on sim. Now reboot and you should get a cell signal to make phone calls with.

I have owned this phone about 3 months and here is what I think of it. I currently use this with straighttalk (AT&T sim card), with the stock 4.4.2 android. Phone has a 16gb sim installed. Phone is nice and fast, with some lag due to 1gb memory. The reception is fairly poor, only getting 1 or 2 bars at my job, and the data connection is decent. Phone only gets 3G H+, which is plenty fast for most people. There are a few things I dont like. If wifi is on but not connected to a network, the phone will not switch to 3g data, instead it will continue searching for wifi. During usage, apps that use data like FB messenger will say waiting for network, but notifications for other apps will still come in. The 13mp camera is more like a 5mp, pictures in low light look horrid, and pics in normal light have a bright lens flare around them. And finally, there isnt a better version of android on this unit. It came out Nov 2014....Android 5 was available then....

It's good phone. Powerful specifications. And good value for money. I just bought one from eBay in UK. But have a noticed a couple of (easy to fix) issues that I have notice, 1. Camera is good in dark. 2. latest YouTube don't work, but you can install older version 5 from www.androiddrawer.com, it works. You should only buy, If you are the sort of person who knows about playing around with Android, rooting etc. Hope, that helps

It's not an antenna problem. It will only be working on one band that is probably supported in that area. You have to find a phone that works on all bands. Not just one. I use the k3 note. It's works perfect on Virgin/ bell

I have the exact same problem in Canada trying to connect to Rogers. Tech support at Rogers was unable to help me. I've been into the engineer mode and have run multiple tests which register as being OK. My signal strength says 0 dBm 99 asu. It is always out of service. I asked Rogers what bands are supported and they list off bands that are available on this phone and that are listed as active by the phone itself. My next step is to root the phone any see if I can load up another build (I've got an older software build version (ROM) for the a916 that I'm somewhat loathe to try as of yet)

I finally found that the problem is poor antena, I mean really poor antena because I have a good signal with my other phones where I live but with the A916, I have nothing. I just received my new A916 and I'm unable to make it work on the network in Canada. I've read all the posts here and I saw a lot on the dual sim problem but I can choose between sim1 sim2 or dual so that part seems ok. I know my phone is rooted because I checked it with a root checker. My phone stays on searching network. When I go in the settings of the sim where the card is installed, the phone see the provider "Rogers" but doesn't give me a signal where I should have one, I tried outside because I read that some people had signal problem. I can't believe how many negative remarks there are about this phone. i only paid 130 delivered from ebay, for a octocore process 5.5 screen an 1G ram. All you need to do is put a custom ROM or root your phone and get rid of all the bloatware, my phone only uses 37% of the ram on average now. No issues with performance at all.

Its OK... That really means it does some jobs well, others alright and doesn't do some at all. It won't run YouTube videos and won't run Skype, which are rather important to me. Its screen and video is great as is the sound but the Bluetooth is poor. Its screen locks occasionally even during a call which means you can't end a call without stripping the battery. The screen sensitivity is a little poor which will disappoint the texters amongst us. However, on a plus......its $150.

Finally, i found whats the solution for the screen sensitivity for this phone. Many in reviews i found that all a916 users keep on talking bout the screen is not that sensitive, now i found it is not the screen is not sensitive, but the phone act already have its screen protctor. (1)Further to my previous reviews, more serious gremlins have appeared. I live in Australia and am going on vacation to Europe. On my old Medion phone, I downloaded the Map of Italy, Map of France etc, and using ESfile explorer moved all the maps to the SD card. When I entered a country, I'd copy the relevant map across to internal storage where I'd taken it from, and all worked well........... (2)With the A916 I installed the Map of Australia, Map of Italy and Map of Croatia from Playstore, and while there was still plenty of space - I started getting "Insufficient Storage" errors with other apps I tried to install. So I moved the maps across to the SD card, and still had Insufficient Storage, despite the phone being very empty. So I uninstalled all those Map apps, and still had the Insufficient Storage error.......... (3)I tried numerous fixes spelled out when I Googled the error, including a cache cleaner app, but nothing worked.......... (4) In the end I had to do a Factory Reset. Only problem was, when the phone came on it was all in Chinese. It took me a while to figure out how to get English back (I've spelled it out in response to the chap with the same problem). Anyhow, the phone is working fine now, but downloading those Maps again has me worried...... (5) I was also having great difficulty getting my Bookmarks from my laptop across to the phone. I got nowhere trying to sync from Opera and Firefox, got a bit further using Maxthon (I could see the connections) but finally got them synced using Maxthon in the phone and in a desktop, which uses the direct cable to the internet rather than Wifi. Just bought this phone, it's performance is good. However, I have two problems. First I installed the 'kindle' apps, but on the sign-in screen, I cannot go into the email and passwords fields to type in the fields. Second, I have similar problem in watching youtube, where can I find the older version if it will work, I am not familiar with the Apps. Thanks.

I got this phone the other day. Thanks to all the guys here who posted on how to get two SIM cards working, or I'd have been exasperated. I don't have any problem with Youtube - I just used the Maxthon Browser which has it as a favourite. And phone came with Playstore, which worked fine. Problems: 1. Even though I've made "Default Write Disk" the SD card, not one app I've installed has used the SD card. So is the SD card only useable for shifting files to? 2. As others have noted, no App2SD app works with this phone. I installed ESFile Explorer and it shows all the files being on "Emulated" and "SDcard0", with the actual SD card being labelled "Sdcard1" which is empty except for file "Lost.dir". Which probably explains why all the App2SDs don't work. 3. It is probably because I'm not used to Android 4.4 but I am really frustrated with how hard it now is make a shortcut to an app or a browser shortcut. It used to be so easy - press on the screen, and up would come the shortcut menu. 4. There is only so much space available on the four screens for shortcuts to the apps. If I had several hundred apps - how would I access them, given that I can't find the App Menu shortcut which was present on every other version of Android that I had? Anyhow, those are the problems. As all my other Android phones were low to mid range, I am quite delighted with the speed and performance of this phone. 4G worked instantaneously with my Aldimobile SIM card (which wouldn't deliver 3G in my ZTE phone}. It only works with LTE band 1800 & 2100, if your Telco does not have support these bands, it won't work.

Bought it recently. Regret it. Bought it because is lenovo and I have a lenovo tablet which is fabulous and because it has dual sim feature. My problem is that its practically single sim because u can't receive call or text or email on both without kind of deactivating one and activating the other. I heard that if I update ROM it may fix problem but I am not sure. The touch screen is ridiculously insensitive and often I have to tap at a letter three four times before it registers on screen. Buyer beware.

Just received the phone today and managed to get it work on dual sim standby, thanks to the instruction posted earlier by someone. It's not so easy to use and the touching is not so responsive as my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. But it's my second phone that can handle my two extra sims (not a drug dealer though - lol) so I didn't want to spend too much on the extra phone. The price in Australia is $195 (from ebay) which reasonably cheap even when compare to simple phones selling in K-Mart or other shopping centre. Will try to get use to it before judging it. Cheers

I'm been using this phone since mid november last year, mine is AP set so chinese word all over but touch screen works well, for games i'm playing monster jam now and you guys know that game is quiet heavy but this phone can run it smooth but cpu gets hot in about 30 minute of playing, the only down side on my phone is it kind a stuck when playing youtube but only on a long video the rest is not a problem for a budget large screen smartphone i gave it 7 out 10.

my a916 also got the screen not sensitive problem, take away the screen protecter can solve problem.But now istill have two problems, memory always not enough and dual sim but only can choose either sim 1 or sim2

the phone is ok, can play light game like subway surf, but the responsiveness of the touch screen is not good. i m not sure is it because i got the AP set but not the original set in Malaysia. but the bad responsiveness of the touch screen sometimes annoyed me. i cant really type message properly, have to press harder on the screen to select some words. it is just bad compare to Redmi Note 4G, Meizu M1 Note, Zenfone 6 and even the old galaxy tab 7.0 which i borrowed from friends just to compare the touch screen responsiveness. is my unit a faulty one? any A916 user please verify this, hows the touch screen responsiveness? thanks

This phone was purchased as a gift, however, I had to set it up. One of the bugs has been mentioned often: You must add your contact telephone numbers WITH and WITHOUT the country code in order for the correct name to be displayed in Texts/sms (WITH country code) and when calls are received (WITHOUT country code). Terrible data reception (bad antenna). I can put this phone and two others side-by-side using the same phone provider. The Lenovo is lucky to get a GPRS signal while both other phones are connected full signal to 3g. Delayed touch on the screen. It is slow to respond and requires a solid touch. Full of bloatware that is not needed. Also does NOT use the stock browser; uses maxthon browser for lenovo. Setting ringtones and notification tones for this phone is terrible as the stock application is beyond buggy! This is one of the many phones I purchased from etotalk. But I am unhappy with this phone.

there's no such thing as ~standby mode to activate under ~Sim Management, but there is this choices under ~single standby settings if you want activate sim 1 or sim 2 or both but it doesn't work on my phone, are there several versions of this phones settings???

You need to activate the dual SIM mode. Just dial *#*#5448264#*#* The phone will restart automatically without pressing any button. That's it. You can now use two SIM cards at a goal. Hope it helps.

It's a nice phone only with some issues,some stock rom doesn't support dual sim standby so u need to flash custom rom that suppor dual sim standby.no preinstalled youtube app but u can use tubemate/blackyoutube or older version of youtube.no app 2 sd function,still waiting 4 update/custom rom that support move app 2 sd.i dont give a damn 4 the issues,overall i'm very satisfied with this phone......

any user with YouTube problem choose one of this: -update to s206 rom -download viral lite from Google Play. It's better than the youtube app anyway (use it before went to use the Lenovo A916).

According to etotalk the FDD LTE bands on this phone are actually 3 and 7. Can someone check in the Mediatek Engineering Mode if that is correct or not? There are no official specifications anywhere that I've found and most places don't say or say FDD bands 1 and 3.

This phone is actually similar to Lenovo S930 and support dual sim dual standby as well. I had no idea the firmware you guy using and caused single standby problem. To those who wish to flash new ROM, remember to get ROW ROM(rest of world version) because the newest is always CN ROM and Google Play won't be supported. You need ROW to get Google Play run or else you had to root CN ROM phone

have been using this a916 for a week. everything is great such as the display (great xperience while watching videos). downside is, i'm using tempered glass as screen protector and the screen responsiveness became really bad. i dont know what's the problem. maybe the tempered glass screen protector or the phones screen responsiveness itself are the problem. so for those out there that would like to buy this phone, just use the normal screen protector n don't waste your money to buy the tempered glass screen protector.

Drink less, read more, wear glasses then comment! You have posted incorrect information about Lenovo A916. The phone is 4G compatible, it has internal slot for Micro SD/TF card up to 32 Gb. Regarding your affirmation on not accepting SD card, I do not know any kind of mobile that actually have an SD expansion slot ! Micro SD or Transflash have most of them including A916! It is possible to have a fake A916 or you've shared your experience with another mobile!

This phone works only on 3g not on 4g. It is not accepting a sd card so you can't increase the memory. On specifications it says that it can hold up to 32mb but it has no internal and external capability of expanding the memory.

Bought one of these from a UK supplier (I live there) to avoid postal delays and customs charges, but being an import not intended for the UK market there are NO English instructions and so far I've had no success at finding them on the Web - the Lenovo web-site doesn't even list the phone, and the UK version doesn't even acknowledge that Lenovo even SELL phones! . Fortunately, it's not my first Android phone. There's a lot of Chinese bloatware which you can only disable, not delete. It's too new a model to start thinking about rooting.

From the one owner review I've read on Amazon, it seems that the 'dual SIM, dual standby' description is not quite right. You can only run one or the other by rebooting the phone to change them.

Display is okay but touch screen could have been better . The overall performance meets what you might expect to get within that price range. The huge down side is its dual SIM does not support dual standby which means you need to choose one active SIM at a time.
