HTC U12+ - User Reviews

  • Good phone except poor battery

  • I love Htc U12+, especially 4k 60fps is so smooth and so damn clear with wonderful 3D audio to listen to 😍. Wish Htc make a comeback again with another Great phone like U12+ 😁. Everything is perfect in this phone for me. Kudos to HTC 😘

  • Hi guys. When will this phone get Android 10?

  • Hi yes Android 9 released a few months back now for my unlocked UK based phone.

  • Hello guys.I wanna ask if you use the squeeze feature and if you do do you feel big difference in battery life.Im askin cause I recently stopped using it and felt the difference in the battery consumption.Am I the only one?

  • I'm loving this 12+ smartphone. Captures great 4k 60fps videos with amazing details 😁 n love Edge Sense 2 experience. I hope, Htc will continue its smartphone industry again from 2020. 😍

  • Hi guys. Do you guys get Android 9 in UK?

  • Anyone, who has done a Pie update and later FACTORY RESET on their unlocked U12+ smartphone? Please share your experience about the battery life and anything new you found in software or any update for U12+ video camera? Thank you

  • With Pie update screen is slightly brighter. Battery charges slightly faster but drain slightly faster too. But I did not reset the phone

  • Nothing difference on update to Android 9 (Pie) regrading the battery life. Still the same as last time. 100% use awhile like 10 sec drop to 99%. Standby mode still the same. Depend want to update or not.

  • Would you recommend updating it to Android Pie, or wait for few days people share more experiences? I have a US unlocked U12+ and what about you?

  • Battery drains much quicker after updating to Android Pie..

  • Please share your user experience with Pie update? How's its battery life and SOT hours? Anything else that is new in the update?

  • U12+ users in Malaysia rejoice! Your device can now be upgraded to Android Pie!!

  • what is the average SOT in android pie?

  • Will not get Android Q but will get Android 10 Black. HongKong set is getting Android Pie now.

  • Hey guys, Finally! The PIE Update is here as well for US unlocked U12+ :) ... I am waiting for everyone to review it first and share their experiences. Thank you

  • thank you!

  • Yes it will.It is supposed to get 2 years of software updates so we have another year.

  • Will htc u12 plus recive android Q?

  • Love the phone, my first HTC phone... Good to know it have p68.. Always use phone when shower... Speaker on phone is loud and clear... Performance is good..responsive..

  • Updated today to Android 9 (2.55.401.1) (1 july 2019 version apparently) Really happy with this phone. used for 1 year now

  • Havent encounter any bugs.Battery life feels better but I didnt have much time to test it out but its definetly solid.Interface is really cool and refreshed. There are some things that u gotta get used to like animations and other functions but its definetly a step in the right direction.Writting and correcting the text is made 100 times easier.I would say go for it.Its a good idea to reset the phone after the update to make sure its all working as its supposed to.Have fun tasting the pie there is nothing to be afraid of.

  • please update? is there a bug? how is the battery consumption?

  • I would have bought this one if it's battery endurance was 100+ hours and 12-15 hours of browsing time. but unfortunately, it's only Web browsing 7:48h.

  • Pie hitting Europe (Bulgaria). Will tell if there is any problem.Right now downloading it it's less than 1GB.

  • Android Q is around the corner and HTC still didn't rollout Pie update... Useless support for such a beast hardware. Sorry HTC I'm fed up, I'm moving to Pixel phones.

  • They forgot about us

  • oh ok but I didn't get any update on my unlocked U12+ US version yet. My patch number is 1st September 2018???

  • Last patch 1 December 2018

  • Anyone got the Android 9 (Pie) update for their Unlocked Htc U12+ in USA yet? Also, 1.30.627.2 is the latest software # for unlocked htc u12+ in USA? and last security patch is Sep 1st, 2018??? Please let me know!

  • My brother and 2nd of my friends have blue u12+,all have said super phone and very amazing and fastest phone ever made.i like to buy it but ,which color is better,go for same color or other? Thanks and regards.

  • Bought the U12 in November 2018, fantastic phone, great camera, fast, responsive, i'm a heavy phone user, the battery life serves me well, squeeze is user friendly and fast, ..Great Phone get on it... This phone up there with the other big guns!! HTC more promoting

  • You're most welcome. Best color option you'll ever have. Enjoy a real wonderful experience with this wonderful phone.

  • I appreciate the fact how you explained everything for me. I will be getting U12+ in Translucent Blue .. Thank you a lot friend :)

  • Thank you :)

  • Battery serves you well with almost 5 to 5:30 hours of screen on time. But you have to use HTC's boost app to manage your battery well. Side buttons work very well. They are stiffer than conventional click buttons but they work absolutely great with no delays or whatsoever. Screen is a wonderful LCD with precise colors. Audio is the most wonderful thing in this phone with dual speakers and music or theatre customization. Also it has four mics four great and crisp audio and video recording. Camera are absolutely wonderful, not Google pixel level but close to that. Results are always pleasurable, especially with the quad camera experience. Last but not least, this phone is a speed demon. With minimal animations and great sense UI, it acts as a beast.

  • I have mine since 4 months and it works well and I love it battery life is good better than my old S7 edge, also buttons work fine without any problems

  • I want to buy Htc U12+ phone. but before i buy i want an honest discussion about the how is the battery life of U12+ and the Pressure sensitive side buttons (like it works great there is no delay in response) ?

  • Started rolling out in Taiwan and will be out globally very shortly. Anyways, I'm not that excited as HTC sense will serve you almost same UI and UX on both 8.0 and 9.0.

  • Very bad htc still android 8 and no sign of android 9

  • I have this beast since last year, and I'm getting 5, 5:30 of SOT. Not the best for sure but for me it gets me through the whole day.

  • What is it with HTC and shitty battery life? I'm really interested in getting one, but the fact that the batteries go bad in a few months is the one thing that keeps me away.

  • U12+ hardware is light years ahead.

  • Pixl 2 xl

  • HTC U12+ or Google Pixel 2 XL? Which is a better option than the two models?

  • Dude, seriously? U12+ definitely.

  • Amazon has them for like $20 now. A very good on a good set of headphones.

  • Any one received android 9?

  • If it's dual sim one it will.

  • Does it have adoptable memory in bothe version 64GB and 128 Gb ?

  • Is there got any update to Android 9 yet?

  • If around 400 $ buy it for sure if more than that don't buy it

  • Should I buy this phone now in 2019?

  • Oppo f11 pro or htc u12 plus?

  • With all this technologies android phones are still very poor because up till now companys are still producing android phones which do not have full automatic program in setting cameras, what I mean by full camera is Laser Senser. This will help the phone to automatically capture the shape of one's face from a distance even before you snap without shaking and with image cleaner the picture will be more clear and beautiful. An android phone should be able to adjust photos automatically and this can't be possible without the program called laser system which helps it read everything even before you press the snap button.

  • Hi there,i have 3mounth this phone I will try to help others This phone can have easy 6h SOT on wifi Sound quality is most impresive thing on it,whe n u listen music or make video ! Rear camera is also pretty good ,very fast laser focus for photos and videos also, stabilisation is not exelent but ok ,never mind For me problem is front camera front position for it on wrong left side and dosnt have OIS And its heavy for small hand, with case its over 200gr trust me something like note9

  • The U12 Plus supports QuickCharge 4.0 and 4.0+. I use a 30 watt QuickCharge 4.0 charger with mine, and it charges at up to 2% every 60 seconds.

  • Htc claims that htc u12 plus supports quick charge 4

  • Should not work, its like a CPU/CPU communication. The CPU in the smartphone has an part, such as code, that waits for the charger that sends info to it, QC3, got around 9V 2A charging numbers. Thats what QC is about. The chipset need to be compatible with the charger, thats why you cant use QC3 phone on QC2 charger, tried it, the charging doesnt switch, stays at the highest pre QC numbers, like 5,2V 2.2A. Maybe someone made it working but it should be not reverse compatible.

  • From where can I buy an original HTC U-sonic ear bods and how much?

  • There is zero company on Earth that would replace a shattered back under warranty. They replaced your faulty unit and that's a positive thing. Don't throw accusations without knowing your rights and obligations as a customer. Thank you.

  • Any one used quick charger 4 for charging htc u12 plus? And is it really faster than quick charger 3 which is attached to the box

  • You're right! This phone has a huge potential!

  • December 2018.

  • Camera.

  • Thanks. but don't like the Huawei P30 Nano Memory Card

  • Worst purchase ever. Worst customer service ever. Phone purchased 10/15/18.Phone died and was returned 10/30/18.Replacement received 11/13/18. Back of phone shattered on 11/25/18. Customer service informed me that i would have to pay $200 for repair because they refused to cover it under warranty even though their JUNK phones only lasted two weeks each. $900 wasted. After several calls to customer service and emails to HTC executives as well as a customer service survey where I slammed them I have received no resolution and ZERO follow up calls. I hop that everyone stops buying their products. This company is a farce and I will repeat this posting on every site I can access.

  • What is the last Android security patch did you receive for htc u12 plus?

  • For sure htc u12 plus or buy ordinary p30

  • May I know which one is the best, HTC U12+ or HUAWEI P30 Lite?

  • Go Setting, click on Dislpay & gestures. one-handed mode can be off. If cannot, send for service.

  • But I saw one in YouTube the led is blinking very bright compare to my s9 plus and lg g7

  • I had this phone and returned it for 2 main issues: LED & BATTERY. S9+ is a million times brighter cause I own one right now.

  • Screen On Time

  • what is the SOT? please?

  • As screen brightness and security patch update Samsung to be honest other than that u12 plus better specially camera.

  • Which is the best camera application to use for htc u12 plus?

  • Build quality

  • What is the best single thing in htc u12 plus?

  • You cant get mad at a company for following their guidelines, even if its one day past the warranty, thats one day... If they cave and help you that means they have to help the thousands of others that went a few days past the warranty as well. Just because they wont break their own rules to help you doesn't mean they don't care about their customers...

  • May i know whether the led notification light is brighter than samsung galaxy s9 plus or lg g7? thanks in advance

  • The phone is a good phone except the glass. Glass scratched within 36 days of owning just by picking up off table. Called customer support and even though only 6 days after warranty they were not willing to help. They only would do repairs and don't even cover the cost of sending in the phone. I have owned their phones for years and put through hell in the military and never had an issue, now new phone quality has gone down hill along with their support for customers. Probably why they don't sell them anymore in the US and have to buy directly through website. Went through 3 customers support people and yet nothing was resolved and tried to blame me for phone issues. Will never be going through them ever again when this phone is done. They had great phones in the past but seems they don't care about them or customers anymore.

  • I have used so many mobile devices from different companies including iPhone (even iPhone X) but company i love the most is HTC. What a wonderful built quality and versatility on the go. You got multiple options in hands, like, you can change so many awesome looking themes, wallpapers, icons, fonts, ringtones etc etc. HTC U 12 plus is impressive and super fast in all aspects that someone ever thinks about. Impressive battery, awesome cameras at both ends and delightful display.

  • Note 8

  • Which android security patch did you lastly received?

  • How to disable one handed mode, it's very annoying!

  • Android P June 2019

  • How to disable one handed mode, it's very annoying!

  • I think its Gorilla glass 5 and battery life is better than my old galaxy s7 edge

  • Gorilla glass 3??? Think this wrong. Battery life also not true.. very low written.. mustbe 75 or high

  • I had just received security update patch December 2018, any signs of Android p?

  • I just bought a new HTC u12 plus 3 days ago and I am very happy with it, sound quality is impressive, camera is superb, I was hesitated to buy it because of negative feedback about battery life but I can say it's wonderful it stands more than my old previous S7 edge hope everything still OK for it and hope it receive Android p soon.

  • Htc u12 plus or note 8?

  • Does htc u12 plus have good selfie camera like note 9?

  • In setting, plz find it.

  • I just bought htc u12 plus yesterday from United Arab emarat it had android 8 with security patch September 2018! Anyone recived newer updates?

  • How to remove vibration of keyboard?

  • Pretty low for a power user like me but it's good to hear that it's not as bad as I thought it would be. After my Xperia Z3 broke(LOVE that phone), I had to choose between this and the Mate 10 Pro, but I ended up choosing the latter because it was available here. I am not regretting that I bought this one instead because I'm confident that the Mate has a better battery life. Yet, I really miss having great audio on my phone.

  • Cantel - The U12+ sales are low because reviewers like Michael Fisher and Android Central slammed it for one issue, and almost everyone else followed their opinion like lemmings. Lots of reviews were almost rabid about the buttons and they brought out the pitchforks and torches for that one problem. HTC fixed that, but the damage was done. Contrast that with how Android Central promoted and defended the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3, despite a laundry list of problems. Now that the button calibration is ok, we have a phone with a better screen than the Note 8 (I use them side by side at work), a camera that can go toe-to-toe with the Pixel 3, better performance than the S9, and a build quality every bit as good if not better than the iPhone XS Max (which we also own). On top of that, you get the best in-box audio experience in the world, bar none, including LG.

  • It takes a few weeks for the U12 Plus to "learn" usage and optimize apps, so your battery life for the first couple weeks will be meh. After that it gets better and better. I've had mine for a month, and the battery life is very good now. To put it in perspective, I had a gaming competition today (2/12/2019) with a girl who was using my iPhone 6. We played the same games and Subway Surfer in particular hit the iPhone hard. She played for 23 minutes and used 29% battery. I played the U12+ for 26 minutes, and used 8% battery. The U12+ had 4 hours 26 minutes of screen on time with lots of gaming and YouTube, and ended the day with the battery at 40%. The iPhone 6 had 1 hour and 53 minutes of SOT with gaming and YouTube, and finished the day with the battery at 35%. I have screenshots of all this, and it should be noted that the iPhone 6 has a new battery that was replaced under warranty, and the U12+ is running in Quad HD+ resolution mode with the screen brighter than the iPhone. We had a longer gaming session last week, but the iPhone overheated and freaked out. I had my doubts when I ordered the U12, but it's turned out to be a real beast. If it had an S-Pen, it would do everything better than the Note 9.

  • dear blue and red stock not available here only black color thats why i am buy black

  • So why ask if you'll settle for black.

  • Battery is the same as s9+ has. What's wrong with you guys. If you never used it don't write funny stuff here

  • Me decided buy blue or red but not available this two colors then me buy black, I think black also good.. Thank you for reply I appreciate you

  • Translucent Blue

  • Thank you brother

  • Flame Red definitely.

  • Dear friends Wich color is better. I want buy htc u12 plus give me your opinion about you

  • The specifications of hTC U12 Life and hTC U12+ are so alike except the SoCs they use. For most users, they don't care about what SoC it uses but the screen size or size of available memory. And, hTC U12 is much cheaper so I think most users will choose HTC U12 Life. That marketing strategy will hit the sales of HTC U12+.

  • Those HTC designers have been living under the rocks for the past few years. How ugly those 2018 sets are. No wonder buyers are running away from HTC in droves. It won't even sell in its home market. Year over year sale drop by 69%!

  • The battery is cool

  • Indeed its a shame, such a good phone with such a poor batery. Whas up with this guys (?)

  • U 12 Owner. Exelent smart phone. All.... But batery is not at terminals level. Batery life sucks if compare to competition to date. Its an a terrible mistake for such an expensive gadget. I am an HTC user for a long time... But i dont know whats gonna by my next step!

  • I ve tried to others except IPhone since first-time I used a smartphone and all the time I was back to immediately HTC again. After I threw 4 " Htc 10" and decided to leave it . I have been still waiting for them fixing their chronic issues. But it will take along time to fix after they are bankrupt and lost so many htc fun . Simply their traditional issues is 1. Battery life and usage , 2. After warranty you can't find a service to fix any problem on phone because all technical person says " I can fix 3 phones instead of 1 HTC . And after service it won't work as before especially if you can't find original replacement and you must throw it and get a new one . After Htc one 7 all is just junk . Their another issue is they stop supporting their own apps which you loved it ( for instance HTC browser which I have used the best ) . They are strange as we know . I don't mind with paying but it should worth at least.

  • I am very disappointed with the HTC company because they did not offer any software updates in 2 years since the release of Htc 10 evo, even android 7.1, in vain update 3-4 top models and the rest forget them, my last your HTC phone. I'm sorry to post here but can look at an official from htc!

  • after 8 years of using HTC i think it's time to go to other company. recently HTC doesn't impressing me as before.

  • my u12+ is working fine. you should try factory reset once.

  • HTC's latest devices comes with "TouchPal" Keyboard don't use that use Google's "Gboard" instead it's better and responsive as well please let me know if it's sorted out your issue

  • Hi I just recently upgraded from the M10 to U 12 +, still getting used to it, Overall u12+ is amazing but is anyone feeling the screen sensitivity is slow, I am having major issues while typing, it seems to not recognise my inputs. Any suggestions?

  • The phone is the 3rd best on DxOMark currently, only the iphone xs max and the P20Pro has better score.

  • I'm kinda interested with how good the camera for photos are. Do you know any way somehow to send or link the photos?

  • using kirisakura kernel, battery easily get from 8am to 12 mid night.

  • When drove new Mexico or Arizona with 65mph and was taking pictures, you will never say it was when I was driving. Amazing pictures

  • Beautiful phone

  • it had a security patch in september

  • Are you guys getting any security software updates as I have a U11 plus which hasn't had a single security update at all this year. Is the u12 plus the same?

  • Why not radio?!?

  • Love it

  • Pie is comming for HTC U12+ :)

  • Guys any sign of "Pie" ?

  • Upgraded from my old HTC m8. It really is a great device. I almost could not be happier with it. The ONLY DOWNSIDE is the BATTERY LIFE - it is about the same as m8. With light to moderate use I can get a full day, but if I need to do something that requires more power, I usually need to plug it in and charge it in the afternoon. BUTTONS are OK. I still would prefer real physical ones, but, once you get used to them, they do the job and I do not have any issues with over/under sensitivity and ghost taps. Maybe early before the software updates some of the users had issues, but, as I got the phone after the software changes, I can not say anything really bad about it. The rest of the phone is amazing - the build quallity, design, display (although LCD), sound, perfomance and speed, software, and CAMERA (really amazing pictures). I still hope that HTC will get back on the track and become more competitive in the upcoming years. I have used 3 of theic devices and somewhat they always feel the best for me (mostly because of the feel, design and sofware).

  • do you own the phone?

  • great specs phone. But the battery is bad=failed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hello, could you kindly check something for me. in most samsung phones there is this option, where while we play games.. even if a call comes. the call will be visible in a little window where game wont be bothered. is there such a feature in the htc?

  • Yes, perfect viewing from all angles. Before only landscape was fine. It was one of the main features that used to irritate me in htc phones. I hade to take off my sunglasses to look at my phone, no way of using navigation from the phone on a sunny day in a car or street. Now everything is more or less like in OLED (in terms of visibility from polaroid glasses)

  • Hi, thanks for the review. "Finally, they support polaroid glasses viewing (they changed LCD polarization angle)" So, no problem with viewing for both landscape and portrait position?? Thanks again.

  • I have been using htc u12+ for almost a month. There are no problems with buttons, everything works pretty fine. I would still prefer real buttons though. For instance, not possible to click 2 buttons at once (for screenshot), or press and keep the volume up button to increase the volume till the end. - no need to talk about speed, same CPU for all flagships; - the camera is one of the best, only Huawei p20 pro is slightly better; - audio is the best, htc has been the top for audio for several years already; - display is very nice as well. Finally, they support polaroid glasses viewing (they changed LCD polarization angle). OLED is still better though; - UI is the best. They really have a couple small, but very nice features that one misses when using a phone from other manufacturers; - edge sense is awesome, being able to squeeze for some functionalities gives a unique experience; - possibility to modify & add android buttons, or even adding the second line. Screen recording feature out of the box; - fast charging, awesome earphones, beautiful design. Can't say much about battery life. As an android developer, my phone is mostly connected to the computer, so didn't have a chance to really test it. Overall, it is much better than my old HTC 10. 3 hours of driving with maps, 4G internet, and screen on only used 35%. Shortly, no regrets. Given a chance to choose any android device, I would still choose htc u12+.

  • Great phone but the battery life the one of the worst=failed! so sad.

  • Great phone but the battery life the one of the worst=failed! so sad.

  • You are lucky. I NEVER had issues until this U11. I have had the sticking down button. Now the battery is swelling. I had the 'over temp' shutdowns because of their power schema. The M8, M9, HTC 10, One S all them were great. Again consider yourself special now with HTC.

  • I have had HTC phones for years. The M8, M9, M10, and now U11. Sadly the U11 is failing. I noticed the battery has expanded and the back is popped now. This after the sticking down volume button and various other quality issues. The fact it has no 3.5mm plug and that I must use a special adapter which prohibits charging while using the headphones is just silly. Even OtterBox no longer even lists the HTC brand on it's lists. Please let me know WHY should I risk buying the U12+ and getting crap again? Just to be looking for another phone in 2 years because the phone fails. I love the HTC apps and system configuration options (Samsung is too controlling and limiting like Apple). What choice do I have? Sad, because the U11 IF it kept working would probably have been a keeper for a long time.

  • HTC is still innovative as they have always been. I've been an HTC user for 10 years and I still have those 10 year old phones and all of them are working fine. Non of my HTC phones had any mentionable problem. HTC=Quality

  • Awesome phone. Don't know why there's a lot of bad blood on HTC phones. Been a HTC fan since their early days, and after getting this phone, I wasn't dissapointed. Battery life gets better after the 1st week or so as the phone continuously studies your usage pattern and adjusts. Phone is just so beautiful(but slippery so you have to use the casing which I don't normally like), camera quality is top notch. Everything was made right on this phone. If you ever had any plans of buying this phone, please go ahead. You can thank me later.

  • Have you considered an s9 or s9+. Both are excellent phones and really should be on your list for comparison.

  • Hi just install google cam MGC_5.1.018_MI8_V1b.apk Wow picture was so amazzzzinggg..HTC U12+ hardware really good.

  • Is there any difference besides storage capacity between the USA and Europe models? I'm asking because I go to the US fairly often and would prefer 128GB while only the 64GB model is sold in my country. (Netherlands) I'll likely buy an EU plug QuickCharge 4.0 charger anyway, since from what I read it will support it... Thanks!

  • Hi Sorry I would like to amend my opinion since just realize mine was development device, so is cannot be compared with the retail version. my phone issue only the button and little warm when use it that's all, others superb.

  • I see. Well since you routinely change phone, then by all means go for the U12+, for the sake of trying something new to you, I assume. Taste the audio quality, playing around with the Edge Sense and Edge Launcher, test both the main camera & the telephoto camera (in HDR Boost mode). Battery life might not hold up for heavy gaming sessions though. When the next wave of new flagships come next year, you could change phone again. However if you are curious about the upcoming Mate 20 Pro and Pixel 3 XL, gotta wait for them to arrive first.

  • I suggest you buy mate 20 or pixel 3. HTC boomsound and music is very good. But if you want use device that not give you pain avoid htc u12+ Quit warm when using it also their button are very not convenience to use.if using case maybe it will accidently press the volume button. My opinion camera is good but not amazing compare to pixel 2. Imagine if u12+ want to compare to pixel 3 U12+ Selfie just ok and im still wondering why it have dual camera infront. It just defeted purpose because in front bokeh mood it not good(sorry im compare with my pixel 2 before change)

  • My Huawei Mate 10 Pro is still excellent condition. I just feel like I wanna change the phone. I always change phone almost every single years. Even 2016-2017, I have changed phones for 4 times. Early 2016, I bought IPhone 6s, then I changed to Xiaomi MI Note 2. Then for 4 months, I changed to LG G6. It also only last for 4 months. Then 2017 October, I changed to Huawei Mate 10 Pro. It's almost a year, and I feel like I wanna change to something new. Thats why I wanna ask for recommendations...

  • My advice is to wait for Pixel 3 XL and Mate 20 Pro to properly launch and get reviewed, while the U12+ might get updated to Android Pie along the way. Besides, what's wrong with your Mate 10 Pro? Battery life already shortened? Screen already burnt-in? Audio quality lacking? Camera not satisfactory?

  • There's much more to image quality than just resolved detail. Factors such as dynamic range, lens sharpness, color rendition, noise all contribute to the overall performance. I suggest you to watch a couple of camera shootouts on YouTube between the two. Additionally, this analysis could shed some light on DxOMark's review for U12+

  • Dear friends. I am using Huawei Mate 10 Pro right now. I am planning to buy a new phone since I have been using this phone for a year. My choices are: HTC U12+ HUAWEI MATE 20 PRO GOOGLE PIXEL 3 XL I love music's and movies. I always listen to music's ALL THE Time. And I also watch movies / utubes with my phone. I also often use my phone for taking pictures. Any recommendation for me, friends? If I bought the HTC U12+, is it gonna be so left behind since U12+ launched early this year, but those other phones, Mate 20 Pro and Pixel 3XL, plan to launch this October. Please some advices for anyone... Thanks...

  • Ist the HTC u12+ camera better than the htcu11+? need an opinion from an user. the gsmarena samples show a MUCH stronger detail preservation on the htc u11+ (in the photo compare tool)

  • Yes. Btw, CGG5 is not necessarily better than the CGG3. CGG3 is more scratch-resistant, while CGG5 is more shatter-resistant.

  • How come U11 have gorilla glass 5 and the U12+ have GG3 ?!!! is this info correct?

  • It is available in Saudi Arabia for $800, check out jarir.com

  • My dearest. 128 gigs is almost $ 6000 and 520 gigs not announced yet but I guess when it comes $8000 !!!? We have two basic references here !!One for higher rich VIP that even buy 100,000 dollars which is nothing for them !!! The poor disadvantaged unprivileged deprived even can touch it ! Some brands had the disadvantaged ones but even now inaccessible to them !!!Sellers because of lack of costumers sit and play with worry bits from morning to too late at nights. !!!Hopefully The Almighty Lord helps people to get rid of ultra inflammation!?Amine....

  • I used to be a htc fan. They make beautiful phones. This phone has a really great camera but the battery life spoils it. HTC, should listen to what its customers want.

  • I experience a great lunacy for htc. Though my smartphone HTC one e8 dual sim 16 gb got its microphone malfunctioning after 4/5 days (after having it first) and I had to spend an enormous amount of money to overhaul my phone functioning properly, I can't leave it behind at all. In this regard, I want to urge you to return back latest flagship smartphone design to htc one m8 alike. In a nutshell, I am wishing htc to return back to that elegant design. Please consider my this earnest request as well as ensure phone's all sorts of problems we faced before being wiped out.

  • I'm a big HTC fan and my 1st android device was the HTC one, but i feel HTC stuck in the design and battery life since more than 5 years already, and this has frustrated me alot. the last innovative design was the m8/m9 devices. i wish HTC refresh those designs with modern hardware and improved battery life. then we may see the OLD HTC back.

  • It's not $ it's AED.800 $ cost exactly 3k Aed.The guy needs to update his currency.

  • How much do Galaxy Note 9 and iPhone X cost over there?

  • My dearest.A very good advanced smartphone with the worst hybrid, without audio Jack, without IR,without radio + recording rds !? And battery of u11+ had come to 3500 mah !!!? Why not at least 4000!Price for 64 gigs is $3000 here and for 128 gigs unofficially $4000!So I don't understand HTC's always having some shortcomings. Of course with this unfair prices , it belongs to very rich VIP but not deprived disadvantaged unprivileged people.Hopefully fact writing GsmArena releases the facts for majority of billions deprived people!!Thanks...

  • Yes I agree, Sony xz2 is amazing phone the problem is they are lack of good designers They look like phone from 2012-2014

  • CGG5 is not necessarily better than the CGG3. CGG3 is more scratch-resistant, while CGG5 is more shatter-resistant.

  • brought it 10 days The good Performance Great Design Great Camera Unbelievable The bad Why cut 3.5 jack off Why not using gorilla 5

  • They have exited the Indian market recently. So, I'm afraid you'll have to shop online or even import it.

  • I have been using HTC since xda II and IIi. Where can I buy U12+ in India? I am okay with price tag of 1000USD. HTC please make it available soon.

  • A magnificent phone. No notch, good build quality, excellent camera.

  • Seconded. There have been two updates since the time of the review.

  • hey gsmarena, in my opinion u should revise ur htc u12+ review!

  • They’ve let us down in Africa because htc is no longer selling in Africa. I cry for htc everyday. I now use iPhone 8 cause I’ve been using htc since Tytn and my last htc phone was and is Htc m8 it’s ver strong and cute. Nonetheless, htc for life no matter what

  • Dear GSM Arena crews, is there going to be a long term review of U12+?? TIA.

  • Completely agree

  • best of htc

  • CGG5 is not necessarily better than the CGG3. CGG3 is more scratch-resistant, while CGG5 is more shatter-resistant.

  • is this really corning gorilla glass 3 ????????????? why not 5 !

  • Whatever else HTC may be doing they are also posting massive losses which surely must become unsustainable over time. Very unfortunate and sad for a great phone maker.

  • HTC is redefining the mobile industry, boom sound, squeeze edges, 3 front facing cameras. but small battery, no headphone Jack, and screen to body ratio can be better. Despite HTC efforts, it needs to be revised again. No Marketing No Success. An advice from long loyal to HTC. since touch VIVA.

  • hmmmm

  • Uh, a little confirmation: it's the Android One version of U11 Life (launched with Oreo) that's planned to get Pie, while the Sense version (launched with Nougat) won't get Pie.

  • U12+, U11+, U11, U11 Life are confirmed to get Android Pie.

  • No longer sold in Europe, at least in blue...

  • One of the Oldest Experienced Co, But Not Lowering their Margins of Profit From 100% or Me re! But Demand Expectations, Amoled, Updates, Sammy is on August already!, and Price always too Exorbitant, like Sony! Then Crying it’s in Red? 2 Billion from Google, waisted in U12+ and now update, on launch!! All Chinese brands are Teally Giving Tough Time? Otherwise their prices wud be touching 1500$ . HTC mend your ways, even after your CEO Resigned, No Change in Strategy!

  • I have mine for a few days. I will be short: - No issues with buttons / Edge Sense (I updated - is is amazing!) - No issues with the display - Battery is just fine (more than enough) - Cameras (all of them) are amazing - Very fast - High quality sound

  • So you want the old metal and stereo faced HTC devices? That's exactly what I want!

  • This is a baby, most solid HTC device since legendary HTC M8, a little too pricey tho

  • Hi Guys and HTC lovers, why the Translucent Blue color unavailable in MENA

  • Yes its Gorilla glass 5

  • All my buddy who is a HTC fanboi, only want is stereo front facing speakers and a phone that does not break so easy! O3O

  • That's a great news. How many hours of screen-on time do you get on average? Can it last more than a day with your normal usage?

  • now afther new software update, you hafe to change your review of the phone. Things are changed. Battery life is great, pressure sensitive buttons are working just fine, so there is no reasons for criticism. My new phone is great afther 3. days of using him with updated software.., its just perfect !!!!!!!

  • Woah, that would be kinda cool if they did. Wonder what they would call it

  • Or Qualcomm, if ever it decides to produce its own devices in the future.

  • Yeah, at this point they should go out with a bang. People would remember them for it. If anything, they should just join LG, Sony, or Google to survive

  • I think the problem is far worse. HTC makes frustrating restrictions in certain markets. For instance, they are not selling the U12+ in Europe with 128 GB storage, only 64 GB (I can't use an SD card as I use 2 sims). The U11+ has been available with 128 GB, but in a single colour out of 4, the plain black one. It's not like I'm asking something extra, I just want what the rest of the world gets! It doesn't make sense to me, their goal seems to be to reach low sales figures...

  • sAMOLED LCDs rock until they suffer burn-ins. i prefer ips screen but i do not believe S-LCD is the best IPS around.

  • Not LG's. It looks darn near close to OLED without the expiration of one

  • Excellent. Mobile

  • ips lcd sucks.

  • I think it is gorilla glass 3. Gorilla glass 3 is less shatter resistance than gorilla glass 5 but is more scratch resistance than gorilla glass 5.

  • Are you sure is Corning Gorilla Glass 3? Other website said is Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

  • This phone is a monster and im glad it strays away from the mainstream...but i saw some camera comparisons i think it overblows the photos a bit?Almost as if the u11 does a better job

  • From all the phone I can choose, this is my choice. Pro: - No notch - not so important for me, but I prefer without. And design is nice - Edge Sense - It might not be perfect, but it is for sure useful - Excellent camera - I've seen multiple reviews, S9+/P20 Pro looks to be a bit better - Sound - Video recording + Playback - Very fast - Check reviews - Solid - IP68, well done - SD card Cons: - No audio jack - I never used one in years (maybe 1-2 times only) - No wireless charging - I do not need it, I do not find it very useful - Battery problems - There are only configuration problems. Change display resolution, do not keep always WiFi On etc. - Sensitive buttons issues - There are not so wrong as you might think, mostly after the update - LCD screen - Really? Is this an issue for you? - Updates - I expect updates from time to time

  • Indeed. Shame HTC couldn't use it. Hopefully they survive and use LG LCD.

  • sAMOLED display rocks.

  • About what did you post?.

  • Yup. Unlike LG, they make a phone that's beneath the standards of most flagships

  • Not to mention that it's one of the weakest flagships of 2018.

  • It is a good phone. The problem is support. This phone is barely gonna get patches, much less a new Android. I honestly hope they don't die by either selling the company to less stubborn and more equipped company or they could just join Sony, Google, or LG. I have ideas for the U13 and think they could pull it off.

  • Main market has no idea of most HTC phones. That's due to lack of marketing

  • HTC's phones are very sold and the beautiful unique designs ever and the camera is also worlds best from last year.i was own Desire HD, Wildfire S, Amaze(Ruby) , One x, M7, M8, M9 and now HTC 10 i have never face any big or small problem with my HTC devices...but i don't know why very low selling of HTC??

  • Yap, its a dying company. Using htc 10 from for about 16 months. But from January this year, hvnt recieve update yet. Though their flagship phones are excellent but poor support. Only htc and sony flagship can match the smoothness of google pixel phone. Another arrogant company is sony. How could they design like this in 2018!!! How how!!! Their flagship 11mm thick.. what the hell. We keep our phn in pocket not in purse!!! Sony mobile division will b dead soon but I will miss the Usonic usb type c headphone of htc when they r dead for sure..

  • HTC still exists ? Can't find their phone anywhere...i live in Thailand.

  • could someone who already have the U12+ please kindly check this for me, ( when your playing a game and if a call comes, does your game screen goes and shows the caller screen?) what i want to know is, in samsung phones via game mode we can choose for incoming calls to appear a little icon, so games such as online games doesn't get interfered. is there a feature like that in the U12+ ? please please check for me and let me know ASAP! TY

  • Yeah I am really enjoying the s9 plus I admit but you can customise HTC phones alot better than the Samsung one I think but the s9 plus makes up for it by the sheer amount of options it has and it took me a fair amount of time to figure it out. It's sad that HTC are not keeping up with software updates and I have seen the complaints on the U11 thing also and I would expect my U11 plus to have a update by now but there's nothing at all and to be fair I don't know if I could go back to HTC as my daily driver as it feels like my s9 plus is a better supported phone but it feels to me like HTC are forgetting there customers and even lg seem to be keeping up with updates and in the past they were hopeless but now HTC aren't any good with updates. It's a sad time for HTC and maybe it shows the company is on its way out?

  • Seems like many buyers are happy with their purchase in Amazon.

  • Good to hear that you love both U11+ and S9+, considering each has its own unique UI. The state of HTC's software updates is pretty sad though. U11's comment thread also got people complaining about the lack of security update since last December's patch. So both U11 & U11+ are still on December's patch, while U12+ is on March's patch. Possibly lack of manpower, or insufficient fund, or both??

  • This phone I use 2,5 weeks very good, also very fast Good screen quality and very nice camera Also very nice design Battery is also good despite it is non removable by the user but it got IP rating And the best of all: no notch!!! The phone could have a been a little more affordable But do not let it withstand to purchase because the phone is amazing and good quality When you buy this phone be sure to check screen quality you will be amazed I also like Nokia 2 for my wife, she likes smaller phones and solid built.

  • I have that colour it's beautiful and it's like a shiny silver black but either way it's lovely but I admit be prepared to have zero support from HTC as the U11 plus is still on the December 2017 security patch which in a way is unacceptable by HTC but if you ain't bothered about such things then its not a deal breaker. It was nice that my s9 plus was updated to the June security patch out of the box and so far I am loving the phone :)

  • U11 Plus in Translucent Black color.

  • U11+ in Translucent Black color.

  • Go for the phone you personally like most designwise.

  • Go for the U11 plus because the normal U11 looks really outdated with its big bezels and to be honest the U11 plus is just better BUT the normal U11's screen is better in sunlight whereas the U11 plus is not. I'd say though go for the U11 plus though.

  • The U11+ is still a great phone. Better battery than the U12+. Install gcam and you'll get great pictures.

  • U11 or u11+?

  • Thank you everyone for your suggestions, that helped me a lot to make a good decision. Now i know which smartphone i will be buying next. Thank you guys :)

  • I did think my next phone would be a u12 plus but today I bought a s9 plus. Carphonewarehouse have knocked hundred quid off the s9 plus and also they are doin the titanium silver 256gb model for the same price of the 128gb colours. So I got rid of my g6 and I bought the titanium silver model for just over 600 quid today and I admit it's a lovely phone and a real match for my htc u11 plus but the screen brightness is far superior on the s9 plus. I think I made the right decision today.

  • The only thing the U11+ beats U12+ is battery. I got 6-7hrs SOT with the U11+. I get 4-5hrs now with the U12+

  • Yep the U11+ is still a great buy today.

  • Good choice, HTC is a quality brand. I have used different HTC phones in the past and they performed great. Never gave me problems.

  • I will only echo what Mr Grey said. Just 6 months ago the U11+ had the fastest processor on the market and one of the best cameras out there. It has a large battery, although the Screen On Time is pretty similar to the U12+. The U12+ is better in almost every regard, but only marginally, and it costs a pretty premium. Weight your needs and your budget, you won't make a bad choice either way..

  • Hi ADI :) The U11 plus is a excellent device and I will say that the only drawback it has is that the screen brightness is not the best in bright sunlight compared to other phones like Samsung or LG etc but you can manage with it as I do and in the UK its very sunny and bright alately but I get by with my U11 plus without struggling. If your in the house or under a overcast sky you will be fine and it's excellent at night time to. The u12 plus is a nice smartphone and I could buy one now if I wanted but I admit I'm holding off to see how the reviews go regarding the buttons etc but you could save a ton of money and get a u11 plus. I will be absolutely honest with you people and say the htc u11 plus does everything extremely well except screen brightness in bright sunlight but other than that it's a beast with no other flaws at all and today I have easily got 6 hours screen on time with 18% battery left which could easily get me into tomorrow. Just go with what feels right to you :)

  • Ok. Thank you so much Soren, but right now i am torn between U11+ and U12+. Like, i can't select which one to buy? U12+ battery life, buttons and the price keeps me away from it although i love this device. On the other hand i also love the U11+ device is a bit cheaper n has better battery life. Its hard to select between the two? :(

  • I get about the same screen on time with my U11 plus to be fair but I wouldn't say I struggle to get threw a day though. Either way 6 to 7 hours screen on time is pretty good though to be fair.

  • 6-7 hours of screen on time. Bought the phone as a replacement for a HTC 10 Evo, as its battery had gone bad. As a semi power user its comfortably taking me through af whole day. Not the Best phone regarding battery life, its not the worst either. Pretty average i guess...

  • Hey guys, Could anyone )whoever owns an Htc U12+ device) please share the experience about the battery life of it because GSMarena's battery test came out very poor for U12+. Even less than my 2 years old Htc 10 :( ...

  • I havnt tried the U11+, but i know there is a higher dynamic range on the U12+, so it is better, but by how much i cant tell unfortunatly

  • Recent review by Uber Gizmo Same 80% score with GSM Arena. Not bad.

  • It's nice to see from the comments from you people regarding the buttons and that they work ok in or out of a case :) How you finding the screen in bright sunlight as my U11 plus is not the best to be fair but I wonder how the u12 plus screen is,? I really like the u12 plus I admit and I am torn between the g7 or this phone but for now I am seeing how the reviews go with the u12 plus. I would have maybe got a Samsung s9 plus but all the problems people are facing on the Samsung forums have put me off and especially the wide spread call drop issue the s9 plus seems to have.

  • I have 128gb model and it has SD card slot too.

  • I ordered the blue one 128Gb from HTC. I cannot wait. I only own LG and Huawei phones. After the reviews I decided to go with HTC.

  • I have SD card on mine.

  • No problems with both. They probably just don't know how to use it :)

  • Same here. No buttons problem at all.

  • The updates for the U11+ disappointed me too. But i still got the U12+. Couldn't resist :)

  • The buttons work fine. The double tap if very useful to me. I reassigned it to launch Edge launcher so I don't need to squeeze. Very nice.

  • Tried two diffrent Caseflex cases. On one of Them the cutouts were wrong, but the other improved grip, and I also have less accidental presses. Overall works really fine with case on

  • When I got case for it, it's no accident push on power button. It's more harder you should push to make it work

  • For you people who have the phone how do you find the pressure sensitive buttons and also there operation in a case,?

  • Top quality. Amazing sound & camera. Switched from a Pixel 2 as I didn't want to carry my phone & a work one. Switched of the double tap feature as I don't need it.

  • Hi, usually 6-7 hours depending on what i´m doing :)

  • Hi there. Can you please share with us your average screen-on time?? TIA.

  • Forgot to mention, performance is rock solid as expected. Dual SIM is great for work use where one is using VPN to corporate resources. Catching home wi-fi alot better than old HTC 10 Evo. Included hardcase is disappointing, as its not easy to squeeze the phone with it, and doesnt do much for looks either. Very strong flashlight. Battery life not impressive but gets me trough a day of working and spare time activities comfortably. I'm able to take showers with it.

  • I´ve had the phone for a week now. Buttons are just fine, but i believe they will update them to be even better, they feel natural once you get used to it. Fingerprint scanner is placed almost too good as i often hit is just resting the phone in my hand. Design and build quality is 10/10. UI is great too, but ive always used HTC so i might just be used to it. Do miss some customization options regarding navigationbar colors for example. Sound is amazing. HTC doesn't spend money on huge innovation project but on quality. The U12+ isnt a Ferrari, Porsche or a Lamborghini, it´s a Rolls Royce...

  • I do wonder though with this phone will htc send out regular software updates as my U11 plus is still on December last year security patch which is a little bit disappointing but not a deal breaker for me though but it would be nice to see regular updates cause then you know your device is still being updated and not forgotten about. Even my LG g6 has been updated to a recent software patch and usually lg are hopeless at updates.

  • It would have been better get the U11+ or the U12+ because only a Note series of Samsung is recommendable. It is an overhyped brand. HTC is doing better in design, quality and software updates. I also have had several HTC phones before.

  • SD card slot upto 2 terabytes, no AMOLED because they can't afford it but SLCD from Samsung is present. Brightness isn't good but color reproduction is pretty fine

  • Honestly, it's a toss up between the two. Both have stereo speakers, no headphone jack, weird design cues, and both will probably have a good deal somewhere. Shoot, these two are very similar. I'd say XZ2 had better ergonomics in hand, not out of hand, very good battery life, better screen, and wireless charging. HTC has got the USonic Earbuds which are awesome, second camera on both sides of the phone, better fingerprint scanner placement, and higher resolution screen. My advice? Well....goddamit this is hard. What is most important to you in a phone?

  • htc phone is really nice I had htc Sensation, One M7, One M8, One M9, M10 before their performance was really amazing but several months ago I bought Samsung Galaxy S9+ Plus and I was really disappointed because s9+ have too many attractive features only in first sight but most of them not useful actually my phone have bad lag that some time i have to restart my phone to solved my phone problem now I regret that why didn't continue with U11+ or U12+

  • Could you please post a review of the u12 plus and say how you get on with the buttons and there sensitivity and also how the phones screen is in bright sunlight and can you see it ok and just your overall thoughts on the phone. I have a u11 plus which is a excellent phone but I admit the screen brightness in direct bright sunlight is not the best at all but I do manage with it but I admit my G6 is much much better than my U11 plus.

  • I've had no issues with the volume/power buttons. I don't know what other people are doing, but they work flawlessly for me.

  • Go for sony its much better

  • If you check Phone Scoop review, they found that Google Play Services drained their unit's battery the most of all apps. Thus their unit's stand by time suffered heavily.

  • I owned several HTC phones and the quality is of high standards. Therefore this U12+ is a very good choice. Besides, no notch.

  • Do you care about battery? Because the endurance rating on the HTC 12+ is sh**. And in my research, the endurance rating and battery tests on YouTube seems to reflect each other. So I trust the endurance rating.

  • HTC U12+ OR Sony Xperia XZ2? Need some help, I used an HTC M9 (Loved it) then got a Z5 (I love Sony's UI) I'm in the middle, opinions would be much appreciated!

  • It's still a shame that most reviews are still saying how bad the volume buttons are and the inconsistently of the edge sense double tap thing to which can activate on its own and I hope that the software update which is supposedly coming soon will correct these problems. People still seem to be ordering the phone though so that's good.

  • In your answer I see ois:-)

  • What is wrong with HTC 10?

  • Here is a review from a guy with a retail unit not a review unit. This is what you would be b--ing. Not the units you saw in the early reviews.

  • Key camera specifications: Dual camera setup 12Mp main camera with 1/2.55″ sensor (1.4µm pixel size), f/1.75 lens and OIS 16Mp secondary camera (1.0µm pixel size) with f/2.6 2x telephoto lens Phase detection and laser-assisted autofocus Dual-LED flash 4K video at 60fps

  • where you saw no ois?

  • Waste of money. Way better phones available for the money, after I owned the HTC 10 I won't be getting another HTC phone..

  • I don't know whose bright idea of cutting the battery capacity from the U11+'s 3930mAh (73h Endurance rating) to the U12+'s 3500mAh (64h Endurance rating)? Probably to save a mm & a few Pence. If the phone had made up for it with efficiency measures then it wouldn't be a problem. Battery life matters & an 'Endurance rating' of 64h is a fail for a flagship in 2018. (64h based on 1hr a day of phone Calls, 1hr of web browsing & 1hr of Video playback). Using this 1h of each, phone makers should be striving towards a 100h endurance rating. I set my own parameters @ Calls=1.5h, Web=4h & Video=1hr; giving me 31h (& I doubt long enough once the battery is past it's peak). Are these phone companies ever going to learn by listening to their customers requirements? I hope for HTC's sake that this will tick enough buyer's boxes.

  • It has memory card. And battery will not different from iPhone x, s9+ or xz2 premium or LG g7. Don't believe numbers on websites. I has S8+, I do have HTC U11 an OnePlus 5t. I can even say U11 or 5t will be better on battery life. More like 5t because of lower display resolution. I'm not comparing s9+ because it has more battery size and much lower time when you use it. I sold it and happy.:)

  • I totally agree with you! This is the greatest phone ever made by HTC, let's hope the best for the future.

  • I totally agree with you how dare they this phone's battery life should not be posted at all it's a waste of money all the big specs and the battery life is a joke what piece of crap is this

  • Try to compare it with J Williams' battery life assessment on YouTube.

  • its like xz2 + lg g6

  • Why is the battery life is poor on such a wonderful device of 2018? I hope this is not the final version. I was really wanting to buy this phone, because i love Htc smartphones :( ...

  • Total waste U12+ : No dedicated memory card slot, no sMOLED display. Yuck

  • A great S9 and oneplus 6 killer let down by biased critics ,it's like everyone wants to just figure what's the next wrong thing which HTC does and critics goes biased. If it was apple with non mechanical volume buttons then people and critics would have said its the future of mobiles .

  • It depends on the respective companies to provide reviewers with a review unit in timely manner. It seems HTC has been diligent in sending its flagship devices to various reviewers earlier than some other companies, such as LG and Sony.

  • just checked Amazon USA (its the first day off of pre-order) and they already out of stuck for both the 64 & 128gb models

  • Very bad battery life :D come on LG destroy stupid HTC with 3500mAh vs G7 3000mAh.

  • How is this even reviewed before LG G7 THINQ?

  • Cheers for the link and after watching that review I think I'm gona maybe pass on the u12 plus at the moment but obviously I could change my mind in the future but hopefully htc will sort out the buttons and edge sense two with a software update as soon as possible.

  • I still like my HTC 10 more than latest HTC Flagship

  • Buttons with problems, poor battery life, rear zoom camera without OIS!? HTC - you failed again, what a shame....

  • Take a look at this review It answers your questions about the buttons & screen brightness

  • So GSM Arena is doing the review process, and the battery test results have come out. I don't know if this is a little bit too much to ask for, but if you guys don't mind, please try to enable the Boost+ app to prolong the battery life and then compare its results with the first one. Anyway, thanks for doing the review.

  • I don't know why HTC is failing in very simple tasks. I am and always was a big fan of HTC and only used htc phones, but looks like I will start to look somewhere else: - everyone complains about pressure sensitive buttons, can't imagine how frustrating it can be when you press and it doesn't work. Why did they brake something so simple? Just use the normal buttons; - endurance rating 64h with 3500 battery? It is even below htc 10 which I am using right now and it isn't nice, and much worse than my old M8. other things are bearable, through I would still prefere Amoled and front mounted fingerprint with buttons, just like in htc 10, but those 2 huge problems will for sure stop me from buying it... I was waiting to test pressure sensitive buttons myself first, but with 64h battery endurance rating I am definitely not going to buy it...

  • i will never buy a phone with a notch too

  • On xda there's some posts from people who have the phone and they aren't having any problems at all with the pressure sensitive buttons so maybe they are ok after all? I am gona see if anyone posts on here when they have the u12 plus and how they get on with it and if the posts are positive I might just buy one also but I am interested for sure and my U11 plus is simply excellent in every way apart from screen brightness which could be better so having a u12 plus would be good also :)

  • You should buy it too. HTC is brand of the past. in present almost nobody have HTC. Maybe 3 out of 1000 people.

  • Absolutely, I certainly do not like a notch. Clean design like the U12+ and Note8 are so much nicer. I mean, one is looking at the screen all the time after all..

  • exactly. If you're not paying, you'll surely get bad review of your product.

  • ok get the Mi 8 then.

  • Should I just believe someone who claims to know the future?? For Mi 8, no microSD slot no buy!

  • Good for you HTC for not integrating unnecessary notches in your diplays.

  • Well if we look how ended HTC U11 on jerry rigs everything video i know the U12 will ends the same way because HTC way. And the phone offers nothing worth 800. Mi 8 explorer is thus much better and cheaper option to get.

  • If you have never seen Super LCD5 or 6 in person on a U series phone, don't bash it. AMOLED by its self may be efficient but Samsung phones still a battery draining slug fest. So how is AMOLED really helping, when the UI is trash?

  • So many things wrong about your OPINION that i don't even know where to start tearing it apart. But have fun with your inferior energy inefficient display while the rest of the civilized world enjoys the modern benefits of amoled. Cheers!

  • share some of your thoughts, while people like me wait for it :)

  • Not many reviews even mention HTC's face unlock, but in the reviews that cover it, face unlock on the U12 + seems really fast.

  • I disagree, the IPS display is the only desirable thing about this phone for me. Pentile subpixel array, burn in, and laughable durability (seriously, I've had two AMOLED panels shatter UNDER THE FRONT GLASS upon impact, while the front glass itself remained intact, despite being the part that actually hit the ground?!) are not features. All that for better contrast. The black level of a very good IPS isn't bad, even if it's not infinite like an AMOLED. MicroLED is the future, AMOLED is a stupid compromise shoved down our throats by Samsung in order to increase sales of phones (because they break so much more often). Other dealbreakers here include the lack of true dual-front-facing Boomsound (WHY?), lack of a headphone jack (way to copy every idiotic thing Apple does), lack of a wide angle front facing camera (how did they think that was a good idea?!), and the shatter-prone soap-slippery glass back that does NOT come with the only true benefit of that, which is wireless charging. Yet another idiotic phone by HTC that pisses on the memory of the M7. If they'd just re-release that with updated SOC/camera, I think they'd make a LOT more money, especially among those who buy the iPhone SE. It was small by today's standards, extremely durable, ergonomic, and had many useful features. Slap on squeezey squeeze sides and bam. Instant hit. Does this even have an IR blaster? Way to make a malinformed attempt at gaining market share through making the phone worse, in ways that are currently "hip" and "trendy." And they wonder why their phone division is dying.

  • Got it....

  • Also no wireless charging? HTC is taking a piss at customers.

  • Smaller battery than last year, disappointing.

  • It's a shame, I'm dissapointed. I was going to buy this phone until I saw it does not have an OLED/Amoled screen. Considering it's sky high price tag and they put the cheaper IPS panel, it's a deal breaker. I think it's asking price is too much. Aside from this, a very beautiful device.

  • Friend, I think you just described what a bloatware is, but in your case it's the Google Photos app. For you, HTC's apps are useful while Google's are not, and even a nuisance. However for another person, it may be the contrary. So you see, the term bloatware, and which apps fall into that category, is relative to every individual. Cheers.

  • Review units always go out early to try and help build hype.

  • Those were definitely not bloatware. Gallery and the 'fx editor' bundled HTC offers a lot of functionalities not offered by good-for-nothing photos app. Photos app download all the photos from cloud and eat up my memory space. I should signout of my google id to prevent this. I cant even hide my albums from prying eyes. HTC gallery offered more control. And the HTC music app had gracenote integration providing updated album arts and lyrics. These are not offered by any most of the music app out there. And HTC is trying to prove their loyalty to google by forcing me to use those apps. If I download alternate apps they again eat up my space.

  • launch date of this phone is (18 / June / 2018) how did they got the phone and tested?!?!

  • Respected sir why don't u buy a MP3 player instead cause u don't have any music sense Ur just complaining

  • Yeah I get what you mean now also and the battery life on my U11 plus is not that much better than the U11 I had so that's fair enough with what you said but I admit I would expect the u12 plus to be that bit better than its previous models.

  • Yeah, I won't deny that U11+ has good battery life on its own. I meant to say that, with 30% increase in the size of the battery from U11, U11+ actual battery life does not increase as much as people expect it to. Anyway, I agree with what you said. Cheers.

  • The battery life on the U11 plus is good to be fair and I would say its not underwhelming and I have got 6 and half hours to nearly 7 screen on time with it but in theory the u12 plus could or should be better but it's all down to how you use the phone and also optimize it for your needs. I personally use the htc boost plus app to help battery life and I shut down apps I don't use and adjust others to not hog the battery also.

  • Just wanna let you guys know that Android Oreo may have a hand in U12+ (U11+ as well) underwhelming battery life. Generally, reviews and user reviews of U11 praise its battery life, but those were measured with Nougat. Then came U11+ with Oreo out of the box and bigger battery, but its battery life performs bellow expectations. Now it's U12+ that suffers from similar fate. However, a quick search on Google reveals there are lots of reports claiming significant battery drain after Oreo update for the U11. Anyway, I've just scratched the surface here. I'm gonna proceed with digging this topic deeper. HTC U11 Some suggested ways to fix

  • when it will available in india, & approximate price range ?

  • I think there's a workaround for the power button if you mostly just use it for waking up the phone and turn the screen off. Most obvious one is to use the fingerprint scanner to wake it up. However for turning the screen off, you need to use the more advanced navigation bar which include screen off button. Iirc, Nick Gray (High Tech Traveler) mentioned this feature in one of his videos on U12+. But for other purpose of the power button, I don't know yet.

  • I think I will stick with htc and lg and yeah I have gone threw alot of phones over the years but I do like tech type thing and I just watched another review of the u12 plus on YouTube and they didn't recommend it and the poor implementation of the buttons was mentioned again which is a real shame.

  • You change phones so fast. There is no reason you couldn't try a Samsung.. If it's going to start lagging which they a famous for, that normally starts between 6 months to a year. But by then you would have already sold it.

  • Yeah I hope also that htc fix the bugs on the u12 plus's pressure sensitive buttons asap to be fair before people abandon this phone altogether and go elsewhere. As for my U11 plus I will admit it's a excellent phone with really excellent battery life and I get about 6 and half hours screen on time on average which is good and it's absolutely fast as hell but I admit I don't mind the notch on the g7 at all and I do like lg phones alot but I think I'm gona wait and see how the u12 plus pans out because I really would like it to be my next phone now and yeah it has 64gb of storage but I think I can live with that and I recently was considering the s9 plus to but I have never had a Samsung phone before so I'm reluctant to get one because I generally stick with makes I know hence htc or LG.

  • Htc nor shuts down nor corrects mistake, from lessons learnt. Price too much, same day bettery, LCD too dull, shift to pled. Marketing Zero. I think a billion dollars recently received by Google, is now been waisted, high time to, go with customers demand, as Chinese same Rom & Ram, looks good at half price Guranteed.

  • I sure hope HTC can sort it out via software update. Just they gotta act fast, and hopefully manage to persuade those reviewers to update their verdicts, for the better. About the G7 Thingy, IMO your U11+ got you covered for this year. I mean, personally I don't want a notchy phone and battery seems a tad too small. But if you can tolerate the notch, maybe just wait for the Pixel 3 XL. It will come with its own notch and, probably, squeeze feature.

  • Honest and reliable review of HTC U12+ from GSMArena plsssssss

  • I do agree that reviewers are hard on htc phones and to some extent lg phones also I think and I nearly bought the u ultra myself but in the end I didn't bother but I did think it was a very nice phone though :) I will just monitor the reviews regarding the u12 plus and see also if htc release a software update to fix the issues with the buttons which I hope they do and I think the u12 plus is a very nice phone and like my U11 plus I bet it would be a great daily driver once any bugs are fixed by htc. I just hope that htc manages to stay in business because I think it would be a tragedy if they ever did disappear from the smartphone market.

  • take those reviews and dislike for change with a grain of salt. most reviewers tend to unfairly hold HTC to a higher standard than other brand names. nitpick at anything they could find. Last year nothing good was said about the U Ultra but that phone performs great. so good that I have no need to upgrade. still very smooth, very fast & meeting my needs/wants. If I were you, I would test the buttons my self and not take the word of someone that is not using it as a daily driver as gospel.

  • Nearly all the reviews I have read have gave this phone dismil scores and all of them mention the faulty pressure sensitive buttons and also its the same on YouTube and it's looking like this phone is a possible flop which is really sad and I admit I was considering ordering one next month but with everything I have seen and read so far I may stay well away from it and maybe get say the new g7 because I do like lg phones to,I ain't a Samsung person so I don't buy there phones. It's looking like HTC could have done a cock up with the buttons on this one but maybe a software update could sort it,?

  • Two of the more lenient reviews are by HTC Source (High Tech Traveler) and The Tech Sure. I personally wish HTC to fix a number of things in the future - Switch back to SLCD5 used by U11. I think SLCD6 eats too much power while being much dimmer. This alone should take care of two cons of U12+ i.e battery life and sunlight legibility. - Make sure all units come with perfectly working haptic "buttons", otherwise just forego this venture altogether and stick to real buttons. - Decrease the price by at least 50 bucks, and offer free goodies along the way. I remember U11 launched at US$649, with early bird price $599 (using promo code).

  • Its going to make another big mistake htc because the price of htc u12 plus is similer to Iphone X in uae. It will flop like u11.

  • Why the hell no 3.5mm jack?

  • Been reading two reviews by android central and the verge and they both say the pressure sensitive buttons just don't function properly as they should at all. The reviews are a worrying read and I hope that the u12 plus doesn't end up a lemon for htc :(

  • tell me about it those are the 2 I really liked as well and in the list of HTC apps you can still download and use if you want. those 2 are not on the list. and and if I sideload a version from my older HTC they crash. so now I use "Piktures" & "Shuttle" for album & music

  • Wow, that's such strange move by HTC........ Thanks for the tips, mate.

  • Those apps may be in the play store but are not supposed by any of the U series phones. I have tried downloading them on a U ULTRA and they just crash.

  • as for boke effect i do not like artificial boke on phones yet, they have too much glitches(i used iphone x, some samsungs) but optical zoom(witch I KNOW is not optical or analogue) IS OK. i prefer LCDs over OLEDs, OLEDs not relly that cool and loose much quality over time. but again i like 3.5mm jack witch is not present in u12+... so i would buy P20 pro or GS9 over HTC.

  • HTC didn't actually stop its apps. It just stopped pre-installing them, reducing bloatware for those who don't want them. You can still download them from HTC or Play Store.

  • Why did HTC stopped the in-house apps such as HTC Gallery and HTC Music. Both of them were great apps. HTC Gallery offers a beautiful album hiding feature right from the days of HTC Wildfire. The so called free storage "Google Photos" dont offer this facility, but instead it downloads all the photos I have online and fills up my phone space. HTC Music updates album arts through gracenote and organizes my music library easily. Play Music is primarily meant for internet music, which I am not interested that much. So bad #HTC.

  • Nova 2i. Im looking for a flagship device. Every year there will be 6-7 flagship device that is being released. Well, only sony and htc caught my attention. Both are pretty good with software update but then again, their hardware are different. >

  • Thanks for the links and on the UK amazon site those spigen cases aren't on whatsoever for the u12 plus.

  • Cases from spigen

  • Spigen cases are on amazon :)

  • What's your current phone??

  • Undecided between xz2 and u12+. Maybe xz2 premium? Or wait for next year flagship nokia 9? Mate 20? Note 9? S10? . Kirin 980 will be release next year. Oh damn~ i can't keep up with technology anymore. AI become a thing nowaday. Will other OEM(sony htc samsung and nokia?) implement this on their device? I honestly don't want AI camera on my device.

  • I suppose I could change my phone every 6 months but alately it's been close to a year I get another one and also if you wait its possible to get a lg or htc flagship much cheaper as time goes on because of the fact they drop the price so I would say wait 6 months and you hopefully will then be able to get a u12 plus :) The one thing I don't like about the u12 plus is that there aren't any really good cases available for it as in spigen cases and the cases that are available are cheap and just not very good and that puts me off this phone to be fair. I like good quality cases to protect my phone which are available for LG and Samsung etc but nothing for this one. It's like all the major case manufacturers have abandoned htc?

  • I see it makes sense now, but still expensive for me :( ... do u change devices every 6 months or a year? True, it will go down for sure as time passes by. Apple and Samsung are way ahead in terms of smartphones sales, its hard for Htc to catch up to them, but most of their devices are on par or better with either of these companies. :)

  • I ain't rich buddy lol but I do put money aside for the phones I want and sometimes I trade them in also to knock the price down of the phone I want :) Maybe as time goes on htc might knock the price down of the u12 because I doubt it will sell in great numbers compared to Samsung for example.

  • You are lucky .. Here in Canada, it costs $1240 which is very expensive. :( ... I really wanna buy this U12+. I hope they lower down the price for it. Damn, you change devices every 6 months or something? ;) seems like a really rich guy!!! ... Haha

  • Hi, firstly I'm not a photography expert, so please don't put so much weight on my opinion. U12+ vs P20 Pro from that video comparison... It's a tough call, really. I feel I can't put either device as a winner, as each excels in different scenarios. However let me touch on color first. Their color reproduction is significantly different, with U12+ produces warmer hues most of the time, while P20P sometimes colder but then turn even warmer other times. And P20P definitely pushes the saturation too far the results seem more artificial than natural. Front samples are also reddish, even putting some blushes on the subject's face. (Moreover, P20P seems to render his face slender I'm not sure people would be impressed by it) P20P generally exposes brighter, but it evades over exposing the image thanks to its much larger sensor bringing along better dynamic range. Personally, I like U12+ exposure more often than not though. P20P owns the 10x Zoom part, in daylight. Unfortunately there's no low light zoom sample. P20P's larger sensor can flex its low light muscles easily. When both devices expose a scene similarly, U12+ loses too much detail and sharpness. When they expose differently i.e U12+ underexpose a scene, it can maintain some sharpness but the resulting image is pretty dark with lotsa details lost in the shadows. U12+ also has much more noise in the sky. (I'm not sure whether the reviewer did use U12+'s HDR Boost or not. He just mentions he uses auto mode for both devices. I just feel that HDR Boost should help clearing up some of the noise in low-light images, but I won't discredit the video now) HDR shots: similar to daylight ones, U12+ images are warmer, P20P images are oversaturated and brighter. No comment on pano. Video: I'm appalled by P20P's apparent lack of details and sharpness. What gives...? Stabilization is also jerky during panning. Those are my observations, and please don't ask me for a winner. More like a split. ;-)

  • What would you like to say about this comparison with P20 Pro IMO, U12+ is still a winner

  • In the UK with htc members you can get the u12 plus for £630 which is to be fair pretty reasonable and its only 30 quid more than the lg g7 but it offers far more than the g7 does. I personally would pick this over the g7 and it's definitely a upgrade over the htc 10 :) I might get a u12 plus in the future but at the moment my U11 plus is doin everything I need it to.

  • I really want this phone. Great design and colours :) .. Its just to somewhat we can call a perfect phone . U12+ and S9+ tied to be the best smartphones of 2018 :) ... I still have my Htc 10 as my daily driver, Can't wait to have my hands on it. Please lower the price LOL

  • There's a camera shootout between U12+ and Pixel 2 on YouTube by HTT. IMO, the Pixel has slight advantage in dynamic range (HDR+ ftw), video stabilization, and preventing over exposure. However, the U12+ beats it in sound recording, color reproduction, sharpness, auto focus speed, portrait with faux bokeh, and low light exposure. The telephoto is also a significant bonus. Awesome job.

  • If HTC advertised this phone and lowered the price to 500 - 600 euros, then it would sell better than any other flagship phone. They should also make the 128GB version available for all markets.

  • HTC desperately needs affordable but effective marketing strategies right now. If they could make this U12 Plus go viral on the internet, they should stand a chance. I don't think they have the budget to fund massive offline advertisements. May they get the much-needed big break this year.

  • I don't how about you guys. I pre-ordered this so nice piece of technology. Yes, I do have HTC U11, OnePlus 5t. And I had S8+, I got sick of Samsung and bought OnePlus 5t. Of course OnePlus 6 looks nice, but when their price goes up and it's so still young Chinese company. I will not go to pay so much if I can buy HTC (brand) and get latest flagship. I don't care about wireless charging, because it's bad for battery anyway. The rest of features are beautiful combination. Goo luck to everyone with your choice

  • HTC has a special phablet. It is HTC u ultra. HTC does not have s-pen and that's all different. You said HTC does not have a phablet. But now almost every flagship is a phablet. And yes screen size makes smartphone into a phablet. I mean it's no sense talking about phablets or phone. It's not that time anymore. Now it's all about design, screen, notch(which in my opinion is useless thing). That is my way to see 2018 phones

  • I have a u11 plus and it's a excellent smartphone and once you get use to using Edge sense it's hard to go back to a phone that doesn't have it and if I switch to my g6 for example I really miss the squeeze feature of my U11 plus. I admit I thought the UK version with only 64gb of storage was ridiculous at first but I admit I think the u12 plus will eventually be my next phone as I doubt I could go to another phone now that doesn't have edge sense plus I like how HTC does things with there Ui so I think in the future I will buy this phone. I really hope that htc gets a break this year and people buy this phone as I think it deserves to do well but I wish the UK version was 128gb though but once the price falls I think it will be worth a purchase for sure.

  • I talking about Note 8 and I said that S pen is a main cause why I bought N8. I am not talking only about screen size. Note 8 is specific class, htc don't have opponent in that class

  • Your are funny. If note 4 was a phablet. Why HTC U12+ is not , if it has 6 inch display which is bigger than 5.7 inch on Samsung Note 4. Please answer Thanks

  • Alright... So, I think this phone will be pretty dope. When HTC released the U11, it was really nice. And from what I recall, I think HTC is the closest you can get to Stock Android without buying a Google Pixel 1(2). And, I'm sure the price of $799 starting will drop in a couple months when HTC realizes it's too damn high for their popularity not being as hype as it used to be. COMPLAINTS: 1.) The battery could have been bigger, considering the almost 4000mAh battery inside the U11+. 2.) I don't know how much I actually care about the lose of wireless charging, but it could have been a nice touch. WHAT I'M HAPPY ABOUT: 1.) You can get it with 128GB ROM. 2.) They gave a reasonable amount of RAM (6GB) though it could have been more to help with being even smoother (though none of use know how fast it really is yet), especially with those 4 cameras. ALL IN ALL: I'm excited to get one. I'll be trading in my iPhone 8 Plus for this. I just don't like my iPhone anymore. Too many restrictions. I know, Apple is safe, secure, etc. Whatever... I like the freedom on Android more.

  • I had the U11 and I used the spigen rugged armour case for it and now I have the U11 plus with a case and it's a excellent smartphone to be fair but I was just wondering about the buttons and also the new touch feature the u12 plus has in regards to cases. @ Anth0ny It will be interesting just to see how the u12 plus will work with different cases to be fair with the new touch feature and the buttons also.

  • I use the U11 with a case. The edge sense works pretty well. I use a good quality case though.

  • I like htc phones very much, I had htc7,8 and10. U12+ is great phone. But I bought Note8 because s pen and the big screen. I wonder why htc dont make something like that. My advice to htc team, create something like note 8 phablet

  • It's pressure sensitive not capacitive buttons. So once the case has any kind of flex in that area. You can recalibrate the pressure sensitivity in settings to work with that case.

  • I was thinking more 3rd party cases to be fair, how will the touch sensitive buttons work with those.

  • If you're speaking about the case that is already in the phone box-then don't worry, there are no plastic angles around Edge sense so you can press them

  • I have been wondering will the touch sensitive buttons still work if the phone has a case on that completely covers them over,? Will the new edge sense features work also with a case covering the body of the phone,?

  • It'd be nice if they didn't arbitarily prevent the usonic earphones from working on any other devices that haven't been stupid enough to dump the 3.5mm jack. Bluetooth is never the solution unless you feel like charging even more things that can be lost easily and don't have the latency needed for anything above passive listening. And even if they did make it compatible there goes another bunch of cash on a dongle you'll probably lose.

  • I've never seen any htc ads in india, but I've used one htc phone which was top notch

  • htc updates??? Till date my u11+ security patch level is December 2017..

  • For this phone to be even a little successful htc must advertise so the masses know of them and on TV tonight I saw Samsung,Huawei and even Nokia advertising there phones. I can't ever remember seeing htc advertise on TV.

  • super slowmo will be in software update

  • It has 4k recording on 60fps and slowmotion recording on 240fps, the phone just doesn't have super slowmotion on 920 fps like the s9 or iphone x .. but it has sonic boost voice amplifier while recording..

  • How about the SAR (body/head)? Do somone know it / can post it?

  • Why is the 128 GB version not available in the EU? The colour palette is also lacking all 3, and matte back has been promised, too...

  • Plz compare first s9 plus and u 12plus i thinnk sam is not defnder now sam is forward there 3.5jack dolby atmos oled paned screen faceunlock wirelss charge fast charge

  • there is near to no camera bump in this phone.

  • the camera bump of HTC U12 + looks ugly. U11+ looks much much batter.

  • the earphones provided are digital and connect to the phone using the USB-C PORT, so it doesn't need the old analog headphone Jack.

  • What the difference about SLCD5 and SLCD6?

  • No headphone Jack. How do we use the headphones provided.. Sigh!!

  • u12 plus' slcd6 display panel looks like Dim! Why? I think, in september or later, htc will release htc U12 smartphone with greater camera than U12 plus smartphone...

  • and overpriced and design is copied lg v30

  • One more thing. I pre-ordered through Amazon which said it would ship June 7th...on HTC's website it simply said June but now says July and Amazon now says June 21st!!!??? Needless to say I'm kinda ticked as I'm obviously looking forward to it.

  • Superior? Maybe if we talk about the price but as a smartphone, oh boy you're dead, dead wrong.

  • Is there a mistake in the specs section? I read somewhere else that the U12 actually uses Gorilla Glass 3 instead of 5 because it's easier to mold/form and work with. Sucks if that's true but I think it may be......

  • how is it that nobody but the chinese are capable of doing 4000mah battery? what is going on here?

  • Dream Phone. Just Perfect.

  • At this time if people loves google pixel the whole cradit goes to HTC.even google phones was manufactured by Samsung,LG,Moto,Huawai but they got value when googles contracts HTC..

  • Best phone ever ,,, but sadly,, HTC has left South Africa. Nonetheless, HTC for life no matter what ( I switched to iPhone 8 for until HTC comes back to my country.

  • No 4k recording? No slowmotion recording? Are you sure? Maybe you are blind... Read the specs again and read the first hands on carefully for this great phone merit and worths. For sur this phone is the best phone till now and best camera with score 103 (s9 has 99) This phone has very better and the latest quick charg but s9 has quick charg 2!!!!!!!maybe samsung know that their phone quality and dislike to remember not 7 the ambulate! BOMB.(i compare u12 with strongest android phone before rise of htc new flagship) be honest then will find out htc u12 is the crown of mobiles.... Be honest and wright sincerely.

  • N

  • Best phone ever made till now.i give it 10/10 too. Please don't compare many brands like oppo, xiaomi, huawei or .... with htc, apple or... For sure htc quality is far better than those grade2 brands.

  • Probably the best phone of this year in terms of Camera, Sound, Display, Design and edge sense 2.0 and many more . But one thing that keeping it back of S9, iPhone x or others is just availability . Good job Htc but you should increase your marketing .

  • There's slow motion and 4k recording! And about the infrared it's unavailable in most of these phones nowadays. For the radio part, a high end phone don't have a radio phone. FYI

  • The alternative phone for Pixels. Excellent phone with not so good price. Still a fan though, because that earbuds are one of the best bundled on a premium smartphone. Keep it up, HTC!

  • No headphone Jack, No FM radio, No infrared port, No 4k & slow motion

  • It's ...a greatest hit...

  • best android phone so far in terms of music, photography, filmography, and daily use!

  • yea right .. it looks like Huawei Mate 10 Pro ?

  • HTC's site advertises a Face Unlock feature (all the way at the bottom of the Meet U12+ page). I wonder if that would solve the FP placement for you.

  • Hmmm, now you can see a Monster. Without a copy of other brand and on the a other hand with some new Creativity. After 8 years HTC (Since Windows 6.0) i'm still a fan. Keep going

  • Notchborg: "Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated!" HTC: "Nope!" Glad they resisted the engineering compromise that is the notch. Everything looks good so far, and the only two downsides that I can see are wireless charging, and the FP sensor on the back. I don't use wireless charging because it's slow and not good for the battery, but it would add appeal for the masses. FP sensor location is a personal preference, and it's better for me on the front because I have the phone on a desk or table a lot, and I love being able to just touch it once. I was not sure about the haptic buttons, but now that I think about it, the buttons have failed me on numerous phones. I think this is a first in the industry, and if it is, then congrats to HTC for stepping out ahead. Everyone was pleased when they came out with a serious camera on the HTC 10, and then the U11 proved itself to be up there with the very best. Then the U12 Plus comes along and tiptoes past the Pixel 2, S9+, AND the iPhone 10 to take the second best score in the world. I'm waiting on more photo comparisons, but the one's I've seen so far have been excellent. I think the P20 Pro deserves it's top spot, but the telephoto shots have a painted effect from the processing. In terms of audio, the new Boomsound is there and more powerful than ever, and the top speaker has more output now. I've come to the conclusion that the only persons devastated by not having the old style headphone jack, are those that have never used USonic. I've been in the audio industry for over 20 years, right there in the control room of a multi-million dollar studio, listening to the music the way the musicians and producers want it to sound, and USonic is the closest I've found to hearing it that way. It's truly mind blowing. And when I do feel like using my favorite Sennheisers, audio though the external DAC in the hi-res certified adapter is better than most built in jacks.

  • Yeah but in 50% of smartphones, the bluetooth drains the battery quick like leaving on your location or even worse, sync account settings.

  • I just can't get over the fact that the UK version is only 64gb of storage and yet the htc u11 plus which I do own has 128gb of storage and costs way less so for me personally I think the U11 plus is the better buy. HTC sell a new flagship with a step backwards in storage compared to there previous flagship, makes no sense.

  • The U12+ has a higher resolution screen, HDR-screen, stereospeakers, better antenna, IP68, expendable microSD-slot, better camera, USB 3.0, (slightly) bigger battery. Also, looking at what's already known about how it should perform, it's a better tested device that was thought through more. The One Plus is simply put just a gathering of components the Oppo organization had laying around, they fitted with the best SoC and they constructed a phone out of. And one can wonder how good the components are and ow the implementation was done. How it will do in the long term remains the question. I certainly wouldn't recommend it to a heavy user. Not that HTC has a good trackrecord in this last respect (they don't), but they know how the phone will do in terms of battery life and waterresistentness, meaning they tested it and guarantee how the phone will do. Maybe OP did the IP-testing as well, but then they choose to not communicate the rating because it was worse. Price-wise the phones of the mainstream manufacturers will come to the One Plus. Right now f.e. compared to the OnePlus, the S9 and S9+ are a better deal. They cost a bit more, but are also better and will receive longer updates. Also in my country you almost always get something for free, a cashback or like right now a 180 euro HK speaker.

  • No headphone jack? Type C converter to jack seems better OLED? after few months burn in just appeared lol just like AMOLEDs hahaha

  • Cant believe I would say this but this phone looks bland and boring compared to the notch phones

  • As per recent articles, HTC U12+ has no buttons on the sides. No physical button, just purely haptic feedback "buttons" with courtesy of Edge Sense 2. Though this phone only lack a jack, it's overshadowed by the HTC Usonic USB-C earphones. HTC is probably the only one who's risking the stability of the ODM company for real innovations. 1. Redefining a way to listen by using USB-C (If only they add a second USB-C) 2. More use for the sides by a squeeze 3. Topnotch and balanced camera 4. Another color style for glass (Liquid Glass) 5. Anything that they innovate years ago.

  • haha pleasure...

  • Htc U12+ has more on sense, i like the way its been used when you go with 6" screen. i love the features.. great innovative but i personally feel its big in hand..

  • After years hTc finally released A Beast hTc U12+ There are so excitement features about this phone & Obviously this is a best buy.

  • By far, this phone looks legit. Awesome specs just like any other smartphones out there and Great design n the colours especially the "FLAME RED" is so damn beautiful. I will definitely try to buy this phone once its can down a bit :). This is worth trying phone from Htc, kinds looks like Htc opted the design hint from M9 (their 2015's Flagship) :) ... But it still does looks fabulous with the edge sense 2 makes it perfect and guys its the worlds first Buttonless smartphone, and camera and sound will never going to disappoint you on it since Htc 10 ... I am 100% Sure. Love it.. Send me U12+ as a gift please! Hahaha :)

  • No headphone jack and no OLED screen = no buy. OnePlus 6 seems like a far superior choice, even if it does have a notch.

  • im waiting from you :)

  • Already saving for this.😁

  • Aren't we done with metal rims around the display? So 2010!!

  • It will be perfect EID gift.....

  • Don't buy this if want 3.5mm jack because here is only type c port where u-sonic can do much much batter for music lovers than the 3.5mm jack....buy mp3 player or nokia 3310 they have 3.5 jack.lol

  • Lack of 3.5mm jack earphones is OK (IMO) . 3.5A capacity of battery when the phone has LCD..! . Glass back panel not for me..

  • Translucent Blue loving it

  • Let me ask you this, does the iphone 10 have a headphone jack? no! but people would allow apple pass with this. If this innovation with regarding sound is better why not embrace it, besides dont we have quality bluetooth head phones which you can use?

  • You could also get a htc u11 plus with 128gb of storage for only £566 members thing but unfortunately it's out of stock at the moment. At least you would get double the storage compared to the u12 plus.

  • HTC U12+ seems bit batter then p20 pro .huawei is sharpen the image with software processing when can be seen on zooming the picture .U12+ should be No1 camera phone in the list not 2nd......HTC deserves more.

  • When is the version with matte back coming?

  • That's true you can do that but the phone should have 128gb of storage for a 2018 flagship. 64gb was last year now.

  • Be an HTC club member and get 10% discount. £629

  • The UK pre order htc website says its £700 for the 64gb storage version. That's completely rubbish for that amount of money because the version for the uk should be 128gb not 64gb. HTC what the hell are you playing at.

  • haaa haaa Samsung paid guy spotted

  • Here are some main Points :- > It is world first Button Less phone. No physical buttons but pressure sensitive. > Edge sense 2 is simply awesome and new way to interact phone. > One of the best camera both selfie and rear. > 32 bits audio which gonna be awesome. > WQHD display. > Samsung paid boys, it has Quick charge 4.0 so dont cry for wireless charging. > What else you need in phone?? > 3500 MAH battery. > It has boom sound I believe its the best HTC or best phone of 2018 which contains everything which a phone required. So please dont shout for Notch and other things. HTC wont copy APPLE, its unique and brilliant.

  • Nice phone. Big phone. Expensive phone.

  • The only question mark is the brightness of the screen. The U11+ was only 310 nits. Otherwise translucent blue here we come.

  • best rated dual camera phone of 2018 on dxomark..boom sound....edge sense...3D sound video recording...beautifull look.....no physical volum, power buttons.....u12+ is a all in one phone...

  • wow edge sense 2.0 and no physical buttons ....amazing

  • 10/10

  • This is called flagship phone . Great job Htc.

  • copied lg v30

  • 10/10

  • "- Qi wireless charging" Seriously?!

  • htc u12+ where is the u12 ??

  • This is just a tarted up u11 plus,I would save money and buy a u11 plus and wait for the price of this to plummet to be fair.

  • As per many YouTube hands-ons, it has no wireless charging!

  • No headphone jack. HTC is way behind. No thanks.

  • It's called a true flagship.well done HTC.

  • Underwhelming in all regards

  • The P20 Pro is good at taking pictures, but at taking videos sucks believe me. HTC can make better videos than any Huawei this is for sure. Anyway Dxomark is not something to consider so serious. :)

  • impressive as i expected from HTC great camera score of 103 on Dxomark just little bit behind p20 pro of 40mp and more then the all other flagships like s9+ ,iphone x, lg g7 thinQ.....and one side edge sense to minimize screen is also a great thing.

  • It's too big for me. Dear HTC, make a U12+ Compact, pls!!! (I don't want a Sony. :( )

  • good luck on huawei P20 Pro. slow skin, a worst processor (efficient and speed) and worst quality overall. oversharped pictures. But hey, they are the new Samsung in marketing. They are spending a lot to convince you they are great...i guess is paying off.

  • Without 3.5jack oh if the price of this crap 100$ i will nevee buy.

  • According to leaks the European price for the 68gb version will be £700 so I bet the 128gb version will be £800 plus and no one in there right mind would pay that for a htc phone. I have a HTC u11 plus and it cost me nothing compared to a u12 plus so I would say just buy a u11 plus and let the u12 plus plummet in price and buy it in a few months because it will definitely plummet,no one is gona pay that right now.

  • This and a slightly bigger battery would make for a pretty damn good phone. Just hope that the price isn't too bad if not I'll be out of options.

  • boom sound....😍

  • Just put second front facing speaker on that damn empty space on the bottom and return the stereo jack and I will buy! Damn you HTC! Only stupid decisions!!!

  • How come? 🤔

  • Already dead on arrival 👎

  • Which means absolutly nothing in the real world. It can be all pretty and nice to look at like most of the Chinese phones are on the outside, and still be the same junk quality when it comes down to real world usage and durability over the lifespan of the phone. Pretty don't get you home.

  • i hope that the display will be brighter than on the U11+ and that the battery life will be good. Other than that it looks perfect to me.

  • Oh my its gonna have 32 Bit dac....improved from 24 Bit....its gonna rock

  • The battery capacity of htc u12+ is pretty well.its equivalent to samsung s9+ and more than the Lg g7thinQ and Oneplus 6.

  • fools are still fools.in 2017 they criticize on bezels and dual camera and now criticize on hybrid dual sim.

  • Disappointment - Hybrid dual sim, No 3.5mm Jack, less battery 😕

  • yes exactly needs to be the same as last year 3930mah, 3500 is a very stupid move it killed it for me will have to go for the huawei P20 Pro

  • price needs to be 500 max

  • htc needs fast wireless charging, good battery life, how can you have 3930mah on u11+ and 3500 on u12+, when huawei has started new trend of 4000mah on small form factor come on htc wake up, needs really competitive price .

  • Please get this into carrier stores HTC. Not everyone can afford to buy directly from the website in one lump sum. Failing that at least offer 24 month finance options as the 12 month ones you offer in the UK are too high per month. I really, really, really do want to buy this phone BUT the price must be reasonable...£699 tops!

  • I did not know that listening to music while charging was a thing! Charge your phone overnight and then listen to music during the day!

  • But, the phone has nice look & simple..

  • With HTC audio capabilities, it always make you forget about 3.5mm jack!!

  • U12+ is such a beautiful phone that htc has ever made for 2018. I am in love with this device. Htc plz price is at right point so we can pre-order it. The red-rose looks stunnung ;) Thank you,

  • Would be a perfect phone with the 3.5mm jack

  • No 3.5mm Jack earphones=shame on u CTH.. lol

  • if we can not listen music while charging on type c. as well also not able to use phone while wireless charging.then why prefer wireless charging and criticize on lake of 3.5 jeck?

  • Depending on the music you listen to, Bluetooth headphones cannot grasp the quality of direct-to-phone lossless audio with DAC. Also Bluetooth headsets are bloody expensive and there technically is NO reason to leave it out. Like the $5 IR Blaster. I listen to metal and trust me...I can hear the difference.

  • i dont know why people are still crying for 3.5jeck in 2018 where wireless headphones can do well.

  • Don't be silly. Look at the top phone, by any metric, does this beat any? Nope. Pixel 3 will likely trounce this in camera, Huawei beat it in battery, many beat it in screen, no wireless charging, basic slow mo, QC 3, missing headphone jack. I love HTC, and wished for more, but what would this beat?

  • Say wireless charging, this is not correct.

  • look cool....

  • Another stupid phone with NO earphone jack.

  • One of the few phones in 2018 that's actually sparked my interest. I'm glad it didn't wind up being that garbage 3,200 mAH battery but I was REALLY hoping it would be at least 3,800 considering it's using LCD. Ugh...we'll see what happens. Well done with Stereo speakers, 6GB of RAM, and microSD card slot.

  • symmetrical top and bottom bezels, minimal side bezels, stb ratio above 80% Perfect phone.

  • I really like htc phones and I have had virtually every single htc flagship apart from the U ultra but I bet the u12 plus will be priced too high and the masses simply won't buy it because Samsung dominates by mass advertising. HTC needs to advertise much more and also there phones and also LG ones plummet in price after a few months because no one buys them. I will most likely buy the u12 plus but I wouldn't buy it on release and I would wait 6 months or more and then buy it when it's plummeted in price which it will definitely do for sure.

  • Yes but it comes with a price

  • I'm gonna buy it, maybe in white. This is better than Oneplus 6 in every way, Waterproof, bigger battery, better brighter higher res screen, better camera sensors, stereo speakers, Sense better than Oxygen OS. I hope HTC stay in the game. They made the only great early android phones.

  • I agree with you

  • 800 eur for what? Xiaomi blackshark does beter tricks for half the price. Oneplus 6 does much better tricks for 520 eur. This phone is overpriced. From time google taken over the HTC its getting worse and worse. U11 failed bend test this one is thin enough to fail again.

  • Yes.. I think HTC U12+ will be success. But Need Body Dimensions under 154 x 70 x 8 mm, and Weight 163 g (5.75 oz). Camera is ok but need more 720p@480fps slow motion video. Price need under Rs.45000 IND.

  • This has good specs! 4k video recording at 60 fps is not bad! I could complain about its size though.

  • Same here... Love HTC :)

  • HTC Forever, I have owned every HTC flagship device and that will never change. Can't wait to see the U12. I've never owned another GSM phone brand and I will never change that. HTC is the best for me. Waiting patiently 23.05.2018

  • waiting... Waiting... Waiting... Haha

  • I was until a month ago an unconditional user of HTC, until I sent my HTC U Ultra for repairs one month ago. Until now, my HTC under guarantee was neither back not replaced. Have contacted SEVERAL times Condor and HTC, do you think I had a positive sort of answer ? NO. HTC ? Bye no way, unfortunately for me, I love the smarphoner but not the greedy, unexperienced, unprofessional management.

  • I am very excited for this phone, honestly. I had an HTC One M8 for a too short amount of time, and I loved it. Nothing since by HTC has caught my attention, but this looks super promising!

  • Oh look is lg g6

  • Eagerly waiting for the beast,,,right time to change my M10,,cheers HTC...

  • No doubt this will be the best 2018 flagship...

  • Same here :)

  • waiting for release of this gteat device

  • Finally! there is one leak out for U12 Plus... Yeah, it does look super great n congrats there is no NOTCH in U12... I am so glad to see it, Your welcome ;)

  • Thats just so late... Htc is always the last one to release. :(

  • Ahhh!!!!!!......My U11 still looks Faster if compare to other device & Even Blazing sound, Battery backup still good, Camera picture clarity not like LG or Samsung but looks ok & remember that not so much setting that's why Love Htc like Htc My suggestion Htc like another Nokia (Old model which is easy to use)

  • It'll Be Mid May

  • Why htc is taking so long to give us a date? Gosh

  • The u series has been a great disappointment till now. The a9 was great and so too was the 10 but everything after that - ugh!! Till now. This phone looks fantastic and the specs are right up there. However, if they overprice this phone they might have trouble if they get too near the iPhone X simply because of Apple's marketing muscle which HTC lacks. I'm using an LG G6 now and a X and loving them both. However, this is the phone I want. I can hardly wait and I'm going solely on the videos I've seen; the specs and the HTC name. I'm hoping for dynamite and it looks like I'll get it. Please HTC - no more gimmicks. Just a solid, well built phone. The more I look at these specs and the phone well I just want one.

  • HTC, Learn from past mistakes and don't put this phone in ultra high price range. Bet you, many people including are waiting to buy this sensible phone by most innovative Android company!

  • HTC! Give us the Date. Can't wait no more :(

  • I understand. and please note. when writing aspect ratios its X:Y. not X.Y. The aspect ratio you're talking about is 18:9 (18:6 would make it RIDICULOUSLY tall. a FHD screen in that aspect ratio is 1080x3240 and I've YET to see anything THAT crazy).

  • 18.6 aspect ratio will always be too tall, so the phone is still not small, but the screen, on the other hand, is extremely small/narrow. This aspect ratio is completely ridiculous and makes zero sense. It's a compromise for those who want a compact phone and it's a compromise for those who want a big screen. No good for either.

  • Yea 5.5 with a 18.6 aspect ratio is will be completely useless. Not to mention the lack of 3.5 jack already makes it useless enough anyway. It almost seems like they DO want to go bankrupt.

  • Lil sweetlin is right..the specs and rumors were indicating towards a 6 inch screen in order to compete..and decided with a 5.5?? And HTC wonders why they're on the verge of bankruptcy. If this phone was slated to bring them back from the dead..they're heading in the wrong direction.

  • HTC finally adding wireless charging to their phones? Only 5 years late to the party. No wonder they going bankrupt.

  • Every company is releasing 6 inch phones, but this one is suddenly 5.5", and still has a 3930 mAh battery? Fake...

  • Beast phone

  • And some are DESPERATELY LOOKING for small phones. Not everyone want big phones.

  • What a beast... It is a pity that it doesn't have a jack and more importantly that it is made by HTC. I had years back the HTC One M7: worst customer service ever by HTC Italy. Will never buy a HTC again.

  • According to the newest it has a single 12 MP camera with an amazing 1.5 aperture. The problem would be if the phone's screen has the new now standard aspect ratio, at 5.5 inch it would be small.

  • Add a phone Jack!!!

  • Htc! Come on, Give us the all new U12 Teaser + the release date. Can't wait for it anymore... Its already almost Mid - April, Let it come out of the closet ;)

  • Sold! Love their phones.

  • Love HTC phones, build quality is brilliant, they just don't have the marketing budget of other brands, so lose out. All reviews placed the HTC 11 equal to Samsung S8 and Iphone as one of the best phones of 2017. I would suggest that this will also rank as one of the best of 2018. Sad to see the company struggling for recognition

  • Why won't a headphone jack on this phone?!?! I just don't get HTC smh

  • That you bothered to comment anyway? So much for the "not interested" claim. Anyway, any HTC related stuff always draws envious trolls and haters. So, this is to be expected.

  • Eh... Not a phone I'm interested in.

  • Its already April.. Come on Htc bring it to the floor :)

  • If at all, HTC has by chance, got a Good overhaul phone, it's shu'd follow oneplus concept of 845 but price 750$ not in thousands. Otherwise HTC will loose a billion it got from Google. And face closure! To be frank to the teeth!

  • I don't understand why the battery is still listed at 3,930 mAh, when the rumors are either 3,420 or 3,450 mAh. At least leave it blank if you're not sure. If it's lower than 3,930 mAh, people like myself will be disappointed.

  • Seems like the hit for 2018 unless LG V40 does something better. We can see that Samsung is going to fail this year as S9 didn't bring too much which hints that Note 9 won't bring too much too. Apple has some interesting stuff this year as they are releasing 3 models. The budget and the mid-range will get a lot of attention for sure. So I feel like only HTC U12+, LG V40 and Apple iPhone X (2nd generation) will be successful.

  • The winner in 845 battery competition? could be the global winner if have a good quality camera or at least 720@960 or 4k@60

  • If HTC manages to pull off something like the recent render, they are definitely heading to the top. It will be the phone every smart person would want to have.

  • OMG, I can't wait for this phone anymore. Please let it come out, Love it :)

  • A top notch phone without the notch ;)

  • Need all the good things just updated what htc fans love or loved till they gave up and went elsewhere, front facing speakers but with boomsound and must be loud and steroids of hi quality.... Full metal brushed case... No sandwiched glass, looks nice till you drop it or just pickup, large screen as on htc one max, but using today's better screen technology. Massive battery, ditch sense, makes more sense! and bloatware, I'm all in favour of one item for one application.. twin very high quality cameras front and back. Build design and quality needs to be top-notch. Latest and fastest chipset with massive hard drive, and don't forget headphone jack, not a C charge socket I need adapters for! REMEMBER THAT FULL METAL CASE and Front facing stereo boomsound speakers please!! And last but not least I would like to see cursor arrows at bottom of keyboard options if you want to use them as on my one max..... Sometimes they come in very handy indeed..... Ok that's the score for your htc13 plus or sooner coz I'll be gone the way things are going! Did I say don't forget the massive battery, coz sometimes you need to spend a little more time on details to win customer's back!!!!

  • Another phone without wireless charging. Bizarre that they omit this obviously decent feature. I'm gutted for HTC, they are losing more of us with every release. Pixel 3 is the one to watch this year.

  • Ah, I will be honest I went a bit too proactive on my response, as I want to keep my rep. I do understand this site has some bugs here and there(I remember once trying to post in all caps and they changed it to lowercase). While no apology is needed, since it was intended for another, I do accept your gratitude.

  • i am loving it...

  • My apologies Billy. My reply should have been sent to LilSweetLin. Where she says the battery is misleading. I don't know why my reply came to you. My apologies again. I agree with you. U12+ will be a hit. The phones new design is a badass.

  • I went to the LlabTooFeR Twitter profile and he still said the battery is still 3,420 mAh.

  • You guys have to realize; the specs revealed in that other article were listed as 'U12' but there is a recent article where they are releasing the U12+. Maybe U12 will come out in Taiwan and Asia while Europe and the US get the U12+? I mean, these specs sound great and I kind of hope they go with this (or if not, give us a removable battery). I just wish HTC went with an OLED screen like the Pixel 2 XL (evidently without issues). Then I would actually consider it...

  • Plz htc i beg you bring back logo on front screen..its look awesome..stands out from other smartphones

  • I'll be very happy if this phone does not end up getting a notch.

  • I was already aware this phone is rumored, so it's specifications wouldn't be exact until HTC confirmed them, either by releasing the phone or an official statement. The photo used may be a real photo or a render, but either way it's not confirmed yet. I was giving my opinion on how thick the phone should be, but in no way would I know the dimensions of this rumored device and wouldn't criticize HTC in any way until it were released. I personally don't understand why you would assume I'd not read the disclaimer, but perhaps my comment was taken as fact when it was my intent to post an opinion about what size they should make their phone. Perhaps this phone isn't real, and then I would understand your response, but this phone is rumored for all intents and purposes so I hadn't taken the rumored specifications as fact. I already read and understood their disclaimer. I personally want HTC to succeed and I would look forward to their new devices in the future.

  • Can't you read what is written below the specs? (Disclaimer. We can not guarantee that the information on this page is 100% correct.)

  • This render looks very nice. I think HTC should make the phone more than 10mm thick. They make great flagship devices, but I have yet to hold one and if I have, I'm worried it would be too thin.

  • Why does the battery say 3,930 mAh, when it's rumored to be only 3,420 mAh? If it was 3,930, I'd actually consider buying it, but it isn't. Come on, GSMArena, this is misleading.

  • Battery is not rumoured anywhere near 3900mA

  • for the first time in the history of phones wide range camera has more pixels the the telephoto camera plus PDAF :D :D :D FINALLY

  • htc please use amoled screen and phone should not be widder than 72mm htc sony and moto make their own desgin they don't copy others

  • O 12, U are mine. O 12 U are mine. Love it :)

  • use amoled screen, otherwise not an option for me

  • Disappointed :(.

  • Finally an android flagship that has a chance to compete with the Mate10 Pro. .keep it up HTC

  • Well what to say or where to start. Pros: No notch, No fugly curved screen, and decent specs. Decent camera and LCD over amoled. Cons: Back of the phone looks like LG models. Not everybody would like to have LCD on a top phone. Phone is made by brands which slowly going into the history books.

  • (uses sim 2 slot) no. no. no.
