HTC One M8s - User Reviews

  • Supe☺

  • Only thing i like about this phone is design. It looks and feel premium. Everything else is mediocre. It has problem with overheating when in heavy use. It can be very annoying.

  • Had it around 6 months until it overheated whilst charging and the digitizer broke

  • You can either check mobile phone repair shops near you for a quote on a battery replacement but chances are they wont have the battery in stock and will have to order it in for you. So it's probably better you buy a replacement battery from eBay for example or Mobilesentrix, Injured Gadgets, or Mobile Defenders which are all online phone parts wholesalers.

  • how and where can I get a battery replacement

  • m8 phase detection not .why but m8 doal camara

  • This phone is 4 years old, what did you expect lol

  • Had this phone for exactly 2 years, the motherboard broke down, went to a phone service, they said they cant find a new motherboard to replace the old one ANYWHERE. Gave me the phone back and told me to look for myself, just couldnt find it. They say that it is much more rare than M8, so if it breaks, there's just no way of replacing smth. sad tbh, currently am looking for a new phone.

  • Best phone...never hangs..never restarts...never lags...just battery needs a charge in between the day if continuously used on 3G or Wifi

  • which one can I buy between M8s and M8, can someone pls Tell me which one is better!

  • This was my first Android phone. It was a really an awful experience. These are the highlights: * Battery life is really poor, from morning till evening it needs one recharge * It lags. Lags on drop down settings and notifications, lags in apps... * Heats up when downloading or streaming until you need to take a cooling break. I replaced it with an Xperia and this is a whole new smooth and fast experience.

  • MHL working for anyone? Does it really have MHL support? I can't find ANY confirmation or video of someone using it on M8s (not M8).

  • I have had this phone for 1 year now and I think it is exceptional. Here is a list of things I have read on the net and don't happen on my phone: 1. Heating up while charging - Never happened, but it will heat up a little bit if it also downloads and installs several application updates while charging. 2. Heating up while heavy use - If I play a game with good graphics like Dungeon Hunter or Max Payne for about 40 minutes, it will heat up (max I got was 46 Celsius), but it is usable. 3. Battery life - Normal usage (8 h talk time + what's app + a little bit of facebook) will get me up to 30 - 36 hours of usage (wifi + mobile data activated at all times) 4. Back Camera - Not the best camera, it will take cristal clear pictures when it is set on HI-Res and in perfect light conditions. Once the light starts dropping so does the quality of the pictures. 5. Front camera - Not a good one! 6. Audio - Perfect! Loud and clear! Because the sleak metal case makes the heat transfer quick, the phone will get warm, but it would also get cool fast. Which brings me to the question: If some people use the phone until it gets really hot that they say it is unusable ... I wonder how hot do the other phones get inside? At least this one gets cool fast. If you buy this phone do not leave it in sunlight at the beach, only then I felt the phone really hot.

  • What about Nougat?

  • The page needs to be updated since there was an OTA update to Android 6.0.1. Unfortunately the security patch level is still 2016-04-01.

  • I had this issue too, but it turned out my battery was dying due to the USB port being bent. I had to replace both the USB port and the battery (at my own cost - not sending it to Sydney for three weeks to let it get lost), and the overheating issues are gone.

  • This phone has an extremely serious issue in that it gets so hot during basic tasks such as listening to music or downloading updates that it's too hot to actually handle. The same can be said for when it's plugged in to charge, just don't touch it or try to do anything with it. This issue is much worse when watching videos, and even more ridiculous when you enable the GPS or try to use it for any level of gaming, eg Fallout Shelter. If you attempt to combine the two by playing Pokémon Go you'll probably begin to seriously worry about whether it's going to ignite or explode. I think this is primarily due to the phone's metal casing, which it disperses the heat from the internal components through. This may be good for mitigating the internal heat of the phone, but the actual result is that the case you're holding gets painfully hot to the point where you can't use it, and definitely don't want to. I started using an Acer Liquid Z530 as a temporary backup while looking for a replacement, and as slow as it is i love that i can use it without scalding my hand, it only ever seems to get hot when charging, and that's not the whole shell, just a spot below the rear camera. I honestly don't think it's worth having such powerful components if you can't manage the heat to tolerable levels.

  • I've had this phone for 1,5 years now, and it's a good phone. Since the update to Android 6 it performs very well. Battery life is acceptable, not worse than other phones I've had.

  • Awful phone. As soon as I bought it, it went on service for 40days because wifi connection wasn't working.Signal is awful too. Next, it's lagging. It takes too long to open any page. Too slow. Overheting. Battery is also awful. HTC never again.

  • im looking for new smartphone, is that so crap this one?dam...i already have an htc, the desire 500. pretty useful but not fully satisfied for overall....

  • Awful. Avoid at all costs. Battery life really poor. Lag lag and more lag. Heats up up and up with just 15 minutes or so web browsing. Waste of money. This will be my last HTC. Never again

  • HTC phones are sleek...but, they should try to improve the battery performance

  • It seems there is now support for Beidou satellites. I can't seem to confirm whether this is possible in software, but com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2 shows a cross for Beidou, and they show up on my M8s.

  • Have you resolved this overheating issue? I have same problem since upgrading and now have to phone back for repair.

  • Y htc does not manufacture water resistance phone

  • doest it hav volte?

  • Terrible phone . SD615 heats alot .can't handle the phone after 20min of browsing.temp reaches to 44-47℃ . I didn't expect company like htc will produce such a bad phone . The thing i liked is a that the phone doesn't shows any sign of lags. Front camera is just a crap.camera with f/2.8 & 33mm .this phone is note ideal for taking group selfies. Overall I couldn't recommend anyone for buying this mobile.there are many mobiles like moto g4plus, redmi note3,le eco which are offering great value for half the price than this phone. Htc m8 was great phone .but this is just like.......total waste of money

  • This phone is really bad.I love the design, boomsound n the build quality . Htc sense

  • Please, gsmarena, could you add pixel size and sensor size to each new phone because it's important, for some who have experienced good quality photos from a phone like HTC one mini, when buying a new phone. Thank you very much in advance and thanks for the quality website you're providing.

  • M8s have gyro sensor

  • Only the M8 has barometric sensor, the M8s does NOT have barometric sensor.

  • How do you access the barometer sensor? I am one of the first people to ever have it and I've never been able to use it.

  • How do you access the barometer sensor? I am one of the first people to ever have it and I've never been able to use it.

  • Great phone, beautifull design... but.. yes.. the camera is NIGHTMARE.. absolute crap!!!

  • Yes you can upgrade your m8s to Android 6, all u need to do make sure u have enough data or connected to a non-stop wifi. Backup your files and wipe out the phone then start the update process. BUT(in the case of my I just leave the phone update auto, then connected to a fully Wi-Fi network, after one week my phone started to misbehave for a complete one day I couldn't do anything with the phone but not knowing that update is going on until the next day I realized the problem has stopped and then I noticed some changes in the phone.....it was 6.0.1.28)

  • Really there is barometric sensor in it and the sense 7 it's wonderful, I bet you if updated to Android 6 you will come back here and testify.

  • Honestly if update to Android 6, I mean marshmallows u will definitely enjoy an awesome battery life.

  • Bro! Would you please tell me about its battery timing and also tell that doesn't it get hot? M very confused about m8 and m8 s .... which one you will suggest!!!

  • Just bought a M8s after the price dropped with the launch of the M10. Excellent all around phone, no major complains, but: - there is no barometric sensor as advertised on gsmarena. There is no mention to this type of sensor in the user manual either. So? - the Sense 7.0 is not that nice. I use to have an HTC One S with the Sense 4.0 - just an awesome interface. I am wondering if I could get it on my new M8s. All in all it is ok, good value for the buck.

  • Just got mine updated last weekend. O2 as a provider. Runs smoother, but a piece of advice, after you update, do a full reset to factory default.

  • How do I upgrade M8S (not M8) to marshmallow 6.0.1 OTA ? please help How do I upgrade M8S (not M8) to marshmallow 6.0.1 OTA ? please help How do I upgrade M8S (not M8) to marshmallow 6.0.1 OTA ? please help

  • nothing up in NI either except a face lift that just changed the colour of the key board

  • In Romania has arrived since the end of may.

  • Still no Marshmallow in UK for M8s (unlocked). Hopefully will get it soon though

  • Hi, after an upgrade I have a problem with keyboard. Every once in a while window to choose a keyboard pops up, no matter where I write, facebook, mail, sms, whatsapp. I click on htc sense input and then I have an option to choose htc sense input and google speech to text option. Both of the options are greyed and I cant turn any of the 2. Before the update I solved the same problem with turning of that google speech to text option but now I cant turn it of. Maybe sthing different is the problem but it's driving me nuts. Can't write anything without that stupid window popping up. Since the update battery lasts a bit longer though. At 11 pm I still have 40 percent which didnt happen before the update. Maybe I'm just using it a bit less, I don't know. :) I still have trauma from battery on HTC One x which statrted to drain rapidly after 2.5 years of use so I don't know how the normal battery works. :)

  • i think they cancelled the update

  • Hmm, no update yet for me. I bought the phone unlocked, it's htc/m8qlul_htc_europe What's the deal? Shouldn't unlocked phones be the first ones to receive the update, even before it gets pushed to providers for their customizations?

  • That happens when the battery heats up while playing games most of the time. ! is a warning for battery overheat.

  • After upgrade, I constantly get the notification that "the SD card was unexpectedly removed". This happens once every 3-4 days, whereas before the update I did not have this problem whatsoever. Any suggestions?

  • Where are you from? In Ireland no update until now

  • Android 6.0 update just rolled out!

  • Can you please tell me how much of your ram is used while not using it...because mine used about 82% of ram while not using after the upgrade

  • After the 6.0.1 update the phone gets really hot fast, and battery drains faster then playing! And the battery icon has a ! Inside.

  • It is not so difficult to imagine that it hasn't any ir hardware at all.

  • So this phone has infrared or not?

  • No option for screen to turn on when message arive... Just a sound notification. Anyone notice that, anyone know how to solve this little problem ? ? ?

  • Hey guys, I have downloaded the 6.0 upgrade and the phone got much faster. It is much better now. From Turkey

  • Nothing special :) only sticker's home screen

  • For me ir doesn't work after the update. I tend to think it hasn't got any ir hardware at all. I have tried the same app (peel smart remote) that the one m9 has and also asmart ir remote and smart ir remote. Two of them complained about non-existing ir hardware. Best regards,

  • The first part of the update went on fine but the second part won't install load of crap

  • What about infrared after update?

  • Hey guys, I updated my M8s to Android 6.0 and it is running very fast (before update 32000 points in Antutu Benchmark, afterwards 42000 points). For all the M8s owners a tip: download the Sense Home 8.0 app on your M8s, it is the same as on the HTC 10, you can go freestyling on your homescreen! It is just not available in the Google Play Store, but you can download the apk on apkmirror.com, they got secure apks. Comment if you liked the tip!

  • Hello guys, Today I have received the update for M8S. I'm from Romania. Have a nice day.

  • I've got android 6.0.2 M in Serbia (MTS) ota update. 1.2 gb file. Hard reset after update. Everything works fine for now. I will share my expirience after a while.

  • When 6.0 in UK?

  • Agree with u...front cam is worst cam i have ever seen...and Android 6.0 is quite smooth compared to Android 5.0

  • I updated my m8s...and update has two parts...1st part is of 420+ mbs which ready software for marshmallow..2nd part is of 1.23gbs which consists of marshmallow nd sense 7

  • Setting

  • You can simply open setting

  • I didn't reset it first...but did a soft reset just to make more space....i used it for a whole day before reset and i didn't face any problems...but after update its quite smooth

  • Android 6...There is option to keep MicroSD card as internal storage..This feature rocks..but u need to have extremely fast SD card for that...Sense 7 is pretty good...OS is mush faster...

  • Go to settings

  • Just updated my hTC One M8s to marshmallow...it has sense 7....quite smooth experience compared to lollipop....in love with it

  • how to update m8s to 6.0 ???

  • htc m8s is not installing android mashmallow////...

  • BUT updation time appearing problem.....

  • Usually, after a system update you have to do a factory reset or a hard reset

  • I must say android 6.0 is much smoother then 5 , i am pleesed with performance. 13 mp outside can take realy good pics, but that damn front camera, you need to put it in 4:3 if you wanna fit something else then your head. And in low light situation is unusable.

  • Realy for HTC One M8s or for M8 you got Update to marshmallow? Tanks

  • Upgraded to Android 6.. Not much changes in UI....Battery back up is not affected much...OS is smoother compared to 5. No changes in Camera stability.

  • right now i get update to marshmallow on this model m8s...

  • Hi bugocsiga, Yes I can try. But I need some complete instruction to do that. Will try to search internet on a weekend

  • Hello RichardZ, Could you share the new marsmallow rom? Maybe someone on xda community could cook a custom rom for us based on the official one. Thanks. Best regards,

  • Hi Sammy, First it's about android 5.0.1 this version has a huge issue with google services which kill you batt. Also it about octa-core shitty optimized Snapdragon 615. You can observ battery isse in each phone which use this chip. And ofcource it's HTC software really poor otimizatin. After I got 6.0 Marshmellow issue with battery is solved. I have aroud 14-16hrs in normal use. At 5.0.1 I've got aroun 8-10hrs without charching. Camera stay the same quality no optimization was done by HTC.

  • Why does my battery life go down so quick? Even with economical mode.

  • Did you do the upgrade? Can you explain what is new? What works and what doesn't?

  • Hi fellows. Eastern europe Ukraine, just got Android 6.0! I hope HTC solved major issues with battary life( ~12hrs) and camere(poor quality in dark, smearing and high cnontrast). I own this phone for half-year, and it really disapointed me(previus was Sony Z2) in equal prices Z2 beat this M8s down in all position(exept glass back). Hope update to 6.0 resolve my issues(hope atleast a battary life to reach 16-20hrs in regular use with 3g).

  • There is a Confirmation Which i got from HTC for the m8s there is no Release date but its on its way soon.

  • Loved everything about the phone. One of the best phones , i have used. Would highly recommend

  • And how can I solve this problem?

  • Mine has WiFi glitch.it has production defects.the screen on left side near SIM card slot is rocking back and forth.it makes cracking SOUND. Finally it dosent have IR.

  • Yes have infrared port but doesnt work under Lollipop...

  • "Regarding your question, i would like to inform you that HTC One M8S will receive the upgrade for Android 6, but for the moment we do not have any confirmed date for the release. The phone is still in testing with our engineers from Taiwan, and when the tests will finish, and we will have a confirmed date for the release, we will post it on www.htc.com."

  • It is an error in the thehnical specifications about infrared port??? It has infrared port or not??

  • I think it was the worst choice when I bought. There is no any support or update for this model. I bought this because of financial reason instead of the M9, but I have few HTC flagships before this phone. I never thought that they will do this with the M8s, and those costumers who bought it. I'm disappointed in HTC at all... Not recommended to buy.

  • si

  • Hello users of HTC M8S, Recently, yesterday, I have send a mail to HTC about the update of this phone. So, apears that ultil now nothing is for sure. It's expected to received the update in April, but nothing it's sure. REMEMBER THAT IS THE OFFICIAL ANSWER FROM HTC. If you want, it will be helpful to send more users a mail, to put a pressure on them. And, put the asewers here, like me. I hope to receive the update, because otherwise I will end with HTC, I will buy a NEXUS, for sure.

  • Until now, someone has received Android 6 on m8s?

  • My device using wifi easily.

  • Is anyone else finding this phone is terrible for picking up WiFi? I'm going to have to update my bill plan because I need to rely so heavily on mobile data due to the inability to get any meaningful signal from my (previously trusted) WiFi networks. This is driving me crazy, I really regret getting this phone.

  • HTC M8s Review after using 2 months Dislike 1.Battery Charging time long(No Quick Charging) 2.Front Cam is Like 10$ China mobiles VGA type (Biggest Bullshit) 3.Ocatcore Proceser Eats Battery more faster. 4.Gets Heated Sometimes Likes. 1.Sound from both speakers Excellent 2.No Lagging Phone is very Fast 3.3G & 4G Speed is too fast(depends on ur network

  • when will android 6 come on this phone? it is soooooo lagy on 5.0.2 shit

  • Yes dude

  • hi folks, can anyone help me out do this mobile have separate memory card slot.

  • hi folks, can anyone help me out do this mobile have separate memory card slot.

  • Guys M8s get marshmallow We believe

  • I Love This Phone, i think it coulde be better in some feature but it is a great phone

  • As long as you have one brand in mind you will start to dislike other major brand, even I do the same but I'm kinda techy guy I use all kinda of mobile that doesn't mean each and every model but HTC One M8 is one of the solid I had ever used but this one I don't know quiet well but as we compare with the original HTC One M8 (Flagship of 2014) this phone lacks so features like fast charging and the Snapdragon 801 and so on, so I would recommend people to buy the original one m8 instead of this because both got the same set of features and the original one m8 got few more set of features and he'll of a battery life

  • I hope it had got the upgrade because I'm using The original one M8, I got the update by the last week of January and this device also should have got by now

  • i have read so many comments and opinions about phones manufacturers by the users, but i realized that people post their opinions based on what they liked most. they don't care to say the truth. may be we need to test the different products before we should say something about one of them.

  • no sar info?

  • The whitebalance, focus and ISO is not upto mark in Auto mode. Probably a fix in camera app would solve it.

  • Nice joke dude. Please give me some poison to eat.

  • Yes, the official website says the 6.0 update is sceduled for Q1, 2016.

  • Yes, gorilla glass 3 I believe.

  • What are you talking about dude. I own an M8s, It HAS an SD card slot. The battery life is fine with 2840 mAh. With normal use it lasts around 36 hours. No physical buttons is not really a big deal as long as the UI is alright. This phone is also much prettier by design to me compared with samsung designs.

  • Are you kidding me? Samsung is a one of the top mobile producers in the world.. HTC fails to often, always poor battery life, no SD card slots, low screen to size ratio and no physical buttons, very often has a problem with cameras (discolouration, yellow rings), they are cheating in benchmark test etc... I would never buy an iPhone because it's overpriced, HTC because it's not so great, always has problems, but Samsung phones are very reliable and beating HTC in every way. I would recommend LG smartphones had 3 already, cheaper than Sammy but still great.

  • Does htc one m8s have an screen protection (Gorilla glass)??

  • where is android 6 update for this phone?whill m8s receive android6 updatE?

  • Auto-mode in which way? ISO?

  • good phone but wish i could customize a sound (incoming text msg) for different senders. Can only customize ringtones which is good for those calling you but not so good if you want a specific sound for specific people who text you.

  • Brilliant phone. Does anyone know if we will be getting marshmallow? And if so when? Thanks

  • A very good phone!

  • U r right mate, I'm using HTC One X nearlly 2,5 years, without none problems, and it still looks like new, but now I'm waiting new HTC M8s. So I think also that HTC is a good brand!

  • Hi Guys, I accept camera is not so good in auto mode. But, try the manual mode.. its just awesome. I clicked some amazing pics ... its clear and crisp.

  • I think u should buy a SLR camera if u want really good photos. I use my phone for calls, texts, email and whatnot. Yes the camera is a small issue but it's far from a deal breaker. reliable, easy UI, extremely robust, great speakers and screen and Looks/feels good. It does everything I want it to do and it didn't cost a small fortune either, that's what's important.

  • No, i just bought the quickcharger myself because HTC.com showed it as an accessory for the m8s. The m8s does have Qualcomm technologies but only snapdragon 615 and the quickcharger 2.0 only works only faster on snapdragon 800 and higher! The quickcharger does work but with the same speed as the original.

  • The m8s has a better camera (13mp vs 4k)

  • Samsung? realy?..... you just can`t compare it. Samsung = fake performance with the cheapest components inside, ovecloacked to the max, therefore it is very unstable, short life. Guys, stop buying "brands" (like samsung, iphone).... A good investment is buying sommething that has best balance between quality/performance/PRICE. Samsung = A expensive piece of ***** Iphone = Good device but way to expensive for what it offers.... Go for a Sony, HTC, even LG....

  • The one thing a love about the M8s ( and HTC phones in general) is its ability to take a serious hit. My 13 month old daughter has literally beat the crap out of it and apart from a few tiny dents it still works perfectly. my wife has a 3yr old M7 and it too should be in bits but it's not. My iPhone 5 was wreaked in a month and I got the M8s. Its a very underrated phone and so much better than what the 'expert reviewer's' write. Oh and its dead easy to use too.

  • What is better htc m8s or samsung s6? What should I buy? Thanx

  • Yesterday, update Android 6.0 version and HTC sense 7.0 Version for M8 . what I noticed , the phone application is not functioning properly . There are no notification/ringing (sound/vibrate) when in going call or messages application. Another thing is, all contacts in my phone gone even i had been syn with google account. Any suggestion to solve my problem?

  • htc one m8 camera is better.

  • February or March

  • can you say please, which camera is better: htc one m8 or htc one m8s? thank you

  • I haven't got it yet... Do you know when? Hopefully it will get Sense 7 as well.

  • Front Cam is Little disappointment otherwise M8s is very Good device.

  • m8s which lens is used in this phone

  • wow,... thats cool thank Jay :)

  • Really good phone. Beautiful design and everything else expect both cameras (inside, but outside they take really good photos).

  • just got this phone at 23rd of dec 15 and as far its far way better than Iphone 5 ive had. i am very happy. the only handset im charging before going to sleep not over the night. Whole night stand by on its own, whole day of using device, wifi etc ,then comes back home still in use till late and battery still up.... I can guaranty you wont be disappointed....

  • To all the owners of hTC M8s please tell me the info of battery life of this phone. And is M8s really better than M8 (Simple one). i have seen reviews of M8 on youtube and they say that its battery life is good, but i dont know about the M8s one. PLEASE TELL ME THANKS.

  • When I use internet specially watching video ,YouTube or anything,it's battery getting over heated.I don't know how is it solve. Please get me suggestion about this problem.

  • Bought the M8s based on what I read here only, gave it as an XMas gift... just got the bummer phone call... there is NO IR port on this model. :(

  • Unfortunately, the lack of detail is a big minus to its 13MP camera .The 5 MP front camera is not up to the desired expectations either. By comparing photos, they are weaker than those made with HTC Desire 500 which has only 1.6 MP camera. I don't know if other One M8s users met this issue, but my pictures taken with the front camera have a lot of black pixels which can be seen when zooming in.

  • Good: - Design is beautiful - Screen is lovely and is clear in daylight Bad: - No IR blaster - Battery life is horrendous - The phone lags too often to be a 'rare occasion' - Facebook messenger is almost unusable on it - The front facing camera seems to make everything look huge, making selfies very difficult - The rear facing 13 MP camera is bad due to its lens. Would I recommend? No. Absolutely not. For the same price, you could get the M8, which despite being 6 months older, is more powerful and is seemingly better in every way.

  • I order online the HTC ONE M8s and I'm waiting after 4-5 days. With this smartphone I want to realize the dream of using HTC ONE M8, which is for sure better, but also I saw a lot of compliments for HTC ONE M8s. I like a lot the design, metal body, and also a grey color. I hope for good experience and expectations. Of course after one month I going to tell about that.

  • I own the phone but I could never find any info about quick charging support. Not even on htc's product pages. Does it support some kind of rapid or quick charging technology?

  • GSMArena we are expecting a review!

  • Dude.. sadly saying that m8s isnot a flagship. But atleast it will get mashmallow for god sake!

  • HTC already announced that it will upgrade the One M8s flagship to the upcoming Android 6.0 OS. The Taiwanese tech giant also announced that they will rollout Marshmallow update along with the Sense 7 UI. So HTC One M8s users will see major changes user interface with Android 6.0 update.

  • The Android 6.0 Marshmallow software will come with new features and improvements. On top of Marshmallow sweet treats is the most coveted Sense 7.0 UI of HTC.

  • hi guys i bought this phone 3 months ago ..... firstly it has gorilla glass 3 and it heats only when you power use it or doing so much multitasking ... it is much smooth than any other phone that i used before ... camera is good for daily use .... battary is better not like m8 ... and it will get marshmallow update in march 2016

  • So do I! Its really a shame on htc. The camera quality is same as on htc desire 626 like water color paintings as you said. Tired of hearing all the cons all over the internet. People are cheated in this way its not good.

  • If you want at least a decent camera, don't buy it! After returning the first, I decided to give it a second chance, I really wanted to like this phone, I liked the display, the construction quality, the sound, Sense interface, etc., BUT the camera is abysmal! No matter how many updates it got, it still can't take an acceptable photo or video. Images lack detail and sharpness, as if over-processed, they look like watercolor paintings. In videos, it is very slow to focus and sometimes it doesn't manage to refocus at all (yes, I unchecked the option "Lock focus in videos"). The dynamic range is virtually nonexistent - if you want to get the sky right, the rest of the image is almost completely dark. If you get the rest of the image right, the sky is always just white. The colors are all over the place - greens are yellow-ish, red is pink, etc. My antique Nokia E72 takes superior pictures in all respects and situations. The highlights are always blown out and faces always look weird with very bright and very dark areas at the same time. I know a little about photography, I'm not a pro, but I regularly use a DSLR camera and several other compact ones. This camera is the worst I've ever seen on any phone. It's really a shame HTC has gone so low. I've been using their phones ever since their first Pocket PC devices with Windows Mobile but I can no longer recommend them. I paid almost 400 euros for this phone and I feel cheated.

  • Yeah, and when i asked for it on twitter they denied. Thoug, on their official web site the m8s is listed for the upgrade.

  • Thats correct. I also unlocked my m8s bootloader by htcdev.. then flashed twrp and rooted. But after all that i can not gain s off to be super cid even by sunshine. Xda members are developing CM also.. hope for the best!

  • not m8. m8s*

  • Dude, this is totally you are explaining is bootloader unlocking. This is nothing compared to soff. Correct that inorder to soff first you must root to run sunshine (no firewater). but this your are explaining how to unlock BL. It is easy as HTC is giving all the way. But to s off there is no way yet for m8. check xda. I will keep updates

  • htc mobiles has security lock when it is s-on it means it's lock for do any thing at first you have to s-off it.get ping from command(shift+right click) in free space then open a box or go to start > run > type command and ... then you have to get ping of your mobile and send it to htc .... you need htc sign up and after that in list if there is not your mobile name choose other models and do every thing atep by step

  • Can you explain? I didn't find anything about s-off on HTC website.

  • Its only bootloader dude.. even sunshine have not listed m8s in their project in s off. And CG is on the way. Pandora is somewhat crazy

  • hi.for S-OFF you need to connect to htc website.connect phone to your computer and open command and promp and ..... good luck

  • Today confirmed that m8s doesn't have an IR blaster. no method to s off even. No support for roms. Shit junk. Shame on htc

  • gsmarena review?

  • yes.gorilla glass 3

  • Plz tell me htc m8s its Gorilla Glass 3? Plz ans me...

  • Plz tell htc m8s its Gorilla Glass 3? Plz ans me

  • go to the uk updates and click on the M8s its been confirmed there

  • HTC one m8s will get Marshmallow too in Q1 2016

  • How to upgrade?

  • ..........I hope to receive HTC one M8s android 6

  • I haven't seen any official statement that HTC M8s will receive Android 6. Only HTC M8 and M9 are stated, but not M8s. Same goes for their twitter account, there are several questions on the M8s, but no definitive answer.

  • Hello! How is this compare to Xperia z3?

  • HTC One M8s users will see major changes user interface with Android 6.0 update. Sense 7 UI unveiled with One M9 and One M9+ flagships and now it is making the way to One M8s

  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow Now Live For The HTC One M8s

  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA last week

  • Good phone, fast and simple. Battery depends on usage but overall good enough for me. But camera is really bad in darker places. Bad focus, not sharp at all.

  • I had it, and returned it for other reasons (heating and poor battery life). I'm very curious how are you able to tell if it's gorilla glass or not. In the time I had it, I only used the included back cover, so no screen protection, yet there wasn't a single scratch on it when I returned it 20 days later.

  • You're wrong. What I misunderstand is why do I get a shitty camera for a premium price? It's not exactly a cheap phone. As long as I pay almost 400 euros for a phone, I think I can expect at least a decent camera!

  • As far as scratch resistance goes, I don't think you can get any third-party screen protector better than Gorilla 4, so it's actually useless. If you want to learn more about how scratch resistant this glass is, you can watch this:

  • if u prefer camera thn s6 bt i would pick m8

  • M8 is best

  • Me too, i have the same problem with the ir blaster, its supose to have one, but it doesn't.

  • Guys does anyone know if it has Gorilla Glass? I am looking to replace my Nokia N9 (!) and i am between Samsung S6/M8/M8s/Z5 compact. . .

  • Hello, I am considering on buying HTC one m9 or HTC one m8s. Which one is better?

  • battery life is not good for me. before i used optimus g pro and am satisfact it's battery life. HTC's says battery life didn't match with real time using. im not extreme user. aslo can you turn off your weather widget's hourly update option? it's stucked and i can't touch. look at this link when i hard format my m8s this is never change and i update all software and phone's firmware..

  • i asked support from htc and sayed htc one m8s dont have IR

  • Dude if u get to check the hardware u will notice that there is an IR blaster. The problem is that the m8s specs along with the android lollipop isn't seems to be supporting the hardware. The issue has been a headache for even m8 users after upgrading to lollipop.. this message is for all who worry about IR of m8s. Be patient.. updates might resolve this.

  • htc m8 s doesn't have ir sensor , I koow it is writen on gsm arena that m8s have ir sensor but it doesn't

  • Yep. Im agri with u......

  • Looks are great, screen display is easy to read email.

  • Some1 know if this phone will get android 6.0?

  • It is not true. I just stated my feedback after using HTC One M8s. If I were a Samsung "fanboy", I would've bought another Samsung Product (e.g. Galaxy S5). But as I said before I wanted some phone which would look and feel like a premium product...which HTC M8s does.

  • Not trying to be argumentative but the m8s uses an SLCD2 with corning gorilla glass 2. The m8 had cgg 3. It is still a good glass, just not as good as the most up to date phones.

  • Truth is that m8s heat increases rapidly when you use your mobile data connection to browse or use internet based applications. Use wifi..no heat at all. And another trick is turn in powersaving mode. This keeps the cpu not being used excessively. It lowers the heat. Cheers

  • Thanks...Miborion

  • Sir i think u love your i9300 i used it myself and sorry to say but it was just a garbage u cant compare i9300 to m8s

  • I didn't find the heating to be an issue. It heats. It's true, but not that much. It does not heat when used for browsing, video watching, or casual usage. If, on the other hand, used for games (even casual) it has a tendency to be warmer, but I cannot say burning hot.

  • It does not have Gorrila Glass. If you had one (M8s) you could see for yourself. As I've wrote before I had a I9300 which had Gorilla Glass and I can tell the difference between plastic and glass (or some other polymer).

  • Can you please share your using experience about Heating M8s. Some site informed that, its heats too much by simple uses.

  • Can you please share about Heating the HTC M8s. I've found that it heats very fast. It will help me to take buying decision. Thanks.

  • Yes it does have Gorilla glass. All review sites make that clear, but it seems it has Gorilla Glass 2.

  • ok, let's say for the sake of argument it depends only on the user's past experience. BUT!!!I cannot believe a 2015 device can have such an awful camera (you just cannot take a decent picture without having to retake it 1000 times over) and an even awful sound. For example (again compared with my late Samsung I9300) when listening music, movies, sounds, anything to its headsets you can actually hear interference, A LOT!! The sound it's just garbage; not to mention the headsets you get in the package, unlike other brands (for this type of "premium" product), they lack the volume up, volume down button/function. Not to mention their quality...(also compared with I9300 headsets which had great quality. in both design and functionality). AND!! it DOES NOT HAVE gorilla glass!! just plastic, regardless of what others may say...I have bought mine after checking other comments here on gsmarena, but now I'm sorry of my decision.

  • Peel smart not compatible waiting for update so ir will work? HTC hurry up n release the ir update

  • htc has better battery life. is more compatible with other bluetooth devices (i.e. other branded bluetooth device outside samsung)

  • Will HTC one m8s work in India????

  • Hi everyone, I need your opinions and experiences on the life expectancy of the M8s and samsung galaxy s5 as i'm currently stuck between the two... currently leaning towards the S5 as has removeable battery... any help much apprieciated!

  • cause u use Touch Wiz UI thats why HTC Sence UI is a little hard for you to use and about quick call option is there and also to reply to a missed call with either voice call or text message option is also available

  • Use the app called peel smart remote for the ir blaster. It's available in play store and works like a charm.

  • Why HTC dual SIM phone will not Doom?

  • Do you have any suggestions for an app? i'v been looking aroundand can't seem to find one that can use the ir blaster.

  • It is corning gorrilla glas

  • Had currently switched from Samsung (I9300) to HTC ONE M8s and I am disappointed of HTC's UI. In other words it's just hard to make a quick call, or to reply to a missed call with either voice call or text message. The phone looks and feels great, but I find it hard to use it (and I'm not an ex-IOS user; I used Android before). The camera it's just awful; my old 8MP I9300 had had taken some great pictures, compared to this 13 MP, which has a tendency to mix up colors (especially for the skin; it's always pink)

  • Yes, the dot cover fits, but not perfectly. Nevertheless, it will be 95% functional, and after a while it will adjust a little. M8s is a little bit thicker. But the cover closes (but opens easily), magnet works, and dots are functioning without any problems.

  • i use the phone for 3 motns whitout any screen protecrs on i ca vouch it has the gorilla glass 3 it dosnt have a single scratch !!!

  • planning of getting M8s dual sim, but my concern is does the M8s dual sim serve effectively as the single sim? and what is the battery life spam? can anyone help with my question?

  • your opinion is good for htc mobile .

  • I'm due for a phone upgrade next month and i'm thinking HTC One M8S might be the phone for me. The monthly cost is just about right and the review sounds good. I'd like to know how the battery life is for everyone and is the 13MB camera good ?

  • M8s sar rate head: 0,453 w/kg 10g body: 0,237 w/kg 10g

  • From Turkey. In addition it has gorilla glass 3.

  • i asked more time support if have gorila glass 3 all sayed it have

  • My dad is looking into getting this phone and was wondering do the covers for the m8 fit the m8s??

  • Is there someone who really knows M8s hasgorilla glass protection or not? I called HTC Support two times. First time they told me "NO. M8s has no gorilla glass protection" and second time "Yes. M8s hasGorilla Glass 3". Which one is true? (Sorry. My English is not perfect)

  • which country you belong to

  • Can somebody tell me how to update my HTC one m8s to sense 7? I checked for updates but non are available. Are there any locations I could use?

  • I like Htc m8s. I owned it last week. It has android 5.0.2 sense 6 probably it Will gain sense 7 when 5.1 rolls out.

  • M8 or M8s? Thank you for your help m8

  • Does anyone know the SAR values for HTC one m8s? So far I have only found values for one m8, and they are good (EU head .22, body .42). Hopefully M8s is the same but does anyone really know? Thanks

  • I would reccomend you to buy HTC M8. I had LG G3 16gb/2Gb ram but it is not like the htc M8.M8 is a super phone!

  • See bro i think you should buy the nexus 6 of u can get through the huge display i dont think i will find a better phone than nexus

  • HTC make such ugly phones.

  • I'm looking to buy Galaxy Alpha, LG G3 or HTC M8(S), which one do you guys think is better, thank you in advance

  • I get what you mean but just for the record you can put windows on a mac computer

  • In the UK this phone is still running HTC sense 6.0.

  • under 300 benchmark OS II test!! be aware!

  • Although its mentioned as 5mp we cant expect the quality of iphone 6 plus front camera. It all depends on the lens inside the the damn pixels. Thats where all the people misunderstand

  • Well i am not happy with the front camera..... the picture quality is very poor indeed....although the vdo quality is good.... can anyone tell me what is the best settings for the front camera? or thats it actually.....the quality of the front camera?

  • Its a general condition dude.. nornally phone heats up when u use mobile data or hotspot itself other than wifi. But i managed to reduce this heating condition by deleting some power hungry apps and also disabling some system apps.. but still the battery is going fast since its lollipop. THE SOUND QUALITY HAS BEEN DOWNGRADED SINCE THE LATEST UPDATE I RECEIVED IN THE VERY FIRST DAYS AFTER GETTING M8S. its disgusting. I must tell for those who own this please dont update software version because still tgey are testing their hardware compatibility with our error reports and feedbacks which are automatically sent from our m8s. For those who have updated please turn on the error reporting feature since it will be a great help for htc anyhow to uplift our user htc experience! Thanks

  • Can you tell me if yours gets hot? Mine gets constantly hot with normal use - web browsing, Facebook, a YouTube video, some pics, etc. The battery temperature seems to easily get as high as 105F (41-42 Celsius).

  • this is the best smart phone ever. three months of usage the harman kardon big papa ov all ts slick n cool best music quality iphone better upgrade their game coz this baby is taking offffff. performance wise, thumbs up n best built quality too.

  • should I replace my GALAXY ALPHA G850F with HTC ONE M8s ? I got HTC as a gift and I am in a real dilemma! pls help!

  • Customer service confirmed to me that an IR blaster is part of the hardware; however, the hardware is NOT supported by the software and they can't tell if it will be by future updates.

  • I received two updates in the last 4 days and after the last one battery drains much slower and phone feels faster.

  • HTC Customer called me today and said that M8S is a tested on the market and confirmed that it has Gorilla glass 3. Full specs will be updated soon on the official site.

  • m8s is slow........... battery hunger in lolipop.........and it's octa is useless.....m8 is far better in all uses.........

  • You cannot move apps from iPhone to HTC One - they use different operating systems (iOS vs. Android), thus the apps are different. It's like trying to install a Windows program on a Mac computer.

  • I had the official answer ... M8s isn't have gorrila Glass and inflared. 😞

  • we are as HTC Technical support confirm to you that unfortunately, HTC One M8s has no infrared

  • Please tell me if m8s has corning gorilla glass?

  • Can anyone inform me Whether HTC One M8s has Gorilla Glass or Not? There is information on gsmarena or other site. Please inform me if you sure about it. Remember, I'm asking for M8s not M8

  • I am using htc m8s thats is better than dat phone

  • You are welcome. M8 / M8s is better

  • Thanks for the reply madu, @ what do u think better from HTC desire eye and One M8s... This is the last comparision which i want to do before buying one of these now...

  • today i want to buy a htc one m8 or htc one m8s.can some one please tell me which phone that i want to buy.? please help me guys hurry up

  • One m8 is faster than m8s

  • I just need to do a small correction.. i just found out that this phone does not possess corning gorilla protection. It has scratches in some places in daily use..

  • M8s is octa core no ultra pixel low res cam Big battery lollipop updated I got m8s coz eventhough m8 is the 2014 flagship of htc..its so old now. M8s is new and fresh at the market

  • Please can u tell me which is better from HTC One M8 and HTC One M8s ??? Im confused cuz i want to buy either of this immediately... Thanks...

  • Now its almost two months using my m8s without having any tempered glass or protector. Its perfect. I often hard use it. Nothing has happened..

  • I was wondering if anyone has got a htc one m8s and does not have a screen protector please post a photo of the screen of scratches after normal use please

  • How about if we flash a kitkat m8 rom to m8s! Will the ir blaster work??

  • contacted HTC support today: the device includes an IR blaster, but... it's not supported by the software. Perhaps some future update will bring it to life, but sofar no guarantees by HTC.

  • Just confirmed from Htc customer care that It has Corning Gorilla glass 3.

  • There are wrong info! Infrared port Yes -> M8s does not have infra port! (M8 is not M8s) Sensors barometer -> M8s does not have barometer! (M8 is not M8s) Video 1080p@60fps -> M8s has only 30fps in full HD! (M8 is not M8s)

  • I got confirmation from customer care HTC One m8s does NOT have GorillaGlass. It has some kind of scratch resistant glass for protection. May be country dependant.

  • Do you have any proof? However I could not find any information about gorilla protection.

  • It has gorilla protection - Message from htc

  • It has gorilla glass.

  • There is no real protection even with Gorilla Glass 4. Screen protector is a must no matter what phone/screen you have.

  • Beware there is no display protection ... Great phone but no display protection. I thought it has Corning gorilla glass 3 or 4 but it hasnt so I didnt bother to buy a protection and it got scratched very bad ....

  • There is way too much confusion on this subject. Some people say they don't have it and some blame the OS. 1. This phone absolutely does have an ir blaster no matter where you got it from, there is only one single model of m8s, no such thing as my version or their version has or doesn't have. 2. Lollipop is not the cause for not having proprietary htc software for it, the application simply was discontinued by htc, you need third party software by default for any up to date htc One phone. And the temperature, there's even more of "my version, your version" tales. This phone gets hot with heavy use like absolutely any phone in recent years. The max temperature? 70 degrees, does it sound excessive? Yes, is it uncommon? No, any flagship or Qualcomm device from the last two years reaches that temperature after heavy use for long periods of time (1-2 hours) the difference is that this phone is all metal and like any One, people go crazy with their stories because they feel any temperature change. You don't see such exaggerations when it comes to Nexus 6, G3, iPhone 6/6+, S6/Edge, Z3, believe it or not all those phones also top out at 70 degrees C and while iPhone users can definitely feel how hot their 6 feels they don't look for actual numbers of their temperature to see those 66-70 degres so they don't go crazy over it. Yes the phone can be hot, all phones running on Qualcomm chips and any flagship chip from other makers like Samsung do reach 70 degrees (whether you believe it or not that is a simple fact, anyone who actively works in phone software development can tell you that). However, there is practically no issue with it running at that temp when gaming on extreamely heavy games for example, even if technicall the battery obviously suffers more over time, however, that is the curse of any smartphone these days, htc devices aren't more "special" in that regard. Your typical operational temperature is at 30, maybe 40 if you're browsing or watching a movie, 50 if you're gaming for 20-30 minutes with mainstream games not the truly demanding ones. I'll say one thing tho, for those looking for a powerful phone which doesn't get as hot as your typical device, N916, you probably won't be able to get one due to its availability, but that Note 4 variant manages to keep that 810 abomination at under 58 degrees when it goes up to 74 on any other device. @mobilegeekz Not sure what you're specifically looking for but htc always had more useful gestures than Samsung, watch any m8 gesture video for example, the features are the same for any of htc's recent phones.

  • tnx.

  • Great phone, takes getting used to but gesture technology surprisingly useful. Could be a little faster maybe, but still grand, stylish and a big battery as well.

  • when the HTC One m8s will be available on amazon?

  • Thanks a lot for the detailed outline. Would you be able to shed some light on the gestures features of this phone?does it have features like Samsung does?

  • Somebody please advise if this phone has gestures like Samsung does. I have m7 but there is no sort of gestures.

  • pls respond me if my front camera (oversaturates colors) is broken or if all m8s have this problem.

  • Ok, so I got this phone some two weeks ago, I'm not super experienced with smartphones, but the overall feel I got from it is pretty good. So far it did feel hot on on one occasion, when it was on navigation for about 40 minutes. The software in it seems to have a few weak spots as well, as it doesn't always ask for the unlock pin when unlocking it, also when somebody's calling me it displays two different answer/reject screens alternatively and also the way the home key, back and menu buttons slide on and off the display makes the phone a little bit awkward to use for me. Other than that, it is the best smartphone I've had so far.

  • After all i have found that this phone does have an ir blaster but lollipop doesnt seem to be supporting the action. To find out if there is an ir or not yoi have to install any 3rd party ir controlling app and start it. If any notification showing "htc connection service running" cheers you have ir. I think we have to stay with lollipop updates to fix these issues..

  • Which one will better HTC One M8s or HTC One M8 (Eye)?

  • Having just bought one of these myself, I found that it comes with Sense 6, not 7, but I just received the updates in the Play Store. Strangely enough, while the Sense Home version is 7.12, the Sense version in Settings -> About -> Software information says 6.0. Also, I have received an update to Android 5.0.2.

  • "... Flashlight stresses the CPU out pretty much...." You must be kidding, right?!

  • I have been using the M8s for a bit now. Several weeks without extreme heating. Hot weather and my phone rises about to 40-41 degrees Celsius. With extreme use a bit more (about 2-3 degrees Celsius hotter). Personally i find it a very comfortable phone. With my personal use of phones i have no issues with overheating. I must warn the people that like to game on portable devices (which seems stupid to me, but that is just my opinion. These machines aren't made for such tasks). The M8s had a max temperature of 56 degrees Celsius while benchmarking a couple times (on 32 bit mind you). Above 50 degrees Celsius once isn't too bad for the battery. But if you keep going above 50 it will brake the built in LI-PO. This is a problem that occurs to the new Snapdragon 615 chip who is still in development. Although it is really fast (i still got within the top 10 score even though next to the benchmark my other apps were running too) you have to watch out for CPU stressing. The metal like design dissipates the heat even worse making it a bad phone for games. For those who look for a phone with such capabilities look for a 32 bit processor chipset. Those are much more effective in heat dissipation and or generation. With my average use however the phone has a recorded average temperature of 28,2 degrees celsius (19 day and 20 hour record period with temp app). All in all the phone feels sleek, is fast, very easily adaptable to your own liking. I use a go launcher personally to set my own preferences instead of blinkfeed. Though blinkfeed wasn't bad, it was just not my preference. The ones wanting to aces social media and other trivialities, blinkfeed will be a gold mine for you. The standard UI of blinkfeed homescreen is easy to configure. The futures like for example motion launch, is a very handy and neat function. Being able to unlock the screen by swiping instead of pressing the button on top (which in some reviews is seen as a bad thing.) is really very handy. Swiping in different directions will activate different functions of the phone when unlocking. The sound quality is as I've experienced before with HTC. It sounds just great. Also the speakers mounted on the front side of the phone are really very nice giving a clear and direct sound. Unlike a lot of other phones where you have to hold your hand below the phone like a cup to get a decent effect. The in ear plugs you receive together with the phone in the standard package are very good as well. So far, i could reach very good battery times. Might even be able to run with the phone for two days sometimes. When using intensively the battery drains fast. But that's like any other smartphone i have had in my hands. Very good built in saving mode to stop half of the processors and shut down other elements to save up power from the battery. The camera is very decent for what i am used to. It can become a bit blurry sometimes in low light conditions even with the second special lens. Though the quality overall is fine. Also, when truly making photo's or pictures of something you should not use a mobile phone anyways. A small pocket camera will do the job a thousand times better than any mobile phone guaranteed (if you have a good camera of course.). Some older cameras with less pixels even make better pictures than mobile phones. One complaint that i encountered so far: Flashlight stresses the CPU out pretty much. Using a flashlight for long periods actually heats your phone a lot. This is the only complaint i truly have about this phone. Either way i never use the flashlight for very long so that won't be a big problem either. But still, i found this quite silly. One other concern (even as an engineer in training/schooling) i am pretty nervous about replacing my battery if that would ever be necessary. The LI-PO battery is built in and really really very very hard to reach! It takes strong nerves and a bloody strong focus for inexperienced hobbyists to actually being capable to repair their phone. Although i won't back out of this since it will be my future job (sort of) it still bothers me. Be very sure about your choice if you don't mind fiddling around in your own electronics. Though the rest of the build feels so sleek as i said before. A strong phone with a very nice weight to it. seems very decent to me. Advised to buy screen protection, like a case or something. This counts for every smartphone nowadays. Screen brightness is really good, and the glass is reasonably easy to clean. the screen doesn't become very dirty quickly in my own experience. And if it does i only need one wipe with my sleeve of my shirt or sweater Conclusion: I am very happy with the phone. I am happy i chose this phone through the company and hope to use it for the next couple years. I am a careful user. I have NEVER broken a smartphone before. The overall quality feels very 'finished'. The phone comes standard with: USB cable USB charger In Ear plugs Manuals etc. Rubber protection case (not the front screen. Backside only) (may be different in some countries! I am not aware of HTC's selling tactics in other countries) Cons: Built in battery Repair ability Capable of overheating with extreme usage (CPU stressing) Pro's: Good battery life (on avarage use without intensive games/gaming.) Good build quality. Fast performance. (in my own experience) Simple ergonomic futures within the UI: Blinkfeed for social apps. Motion Launch. Good sound quality Apps i use: 2way brightness An Tu Tu benchmark (32/64bits) BatteryBot Clean Master Dropbox Facebook Whatsapp Go Locker Temperature Guard Free (warns me when the temp gets to high. Never happened. Only with the benchmark) Notities Next Launcher Music Folder Player Advanced Task Killer Free (and a bunch of other apps and some simple games like Arknoid or something like that)

  • With not heavy use, reached temperature 48 celcium !! Other customers do you see how hot is it?

  • I have no idea where you got that from. I bought the phone a week ago in Germany. No IR blaster. Maybe it's different in other markets. So beware and make yourself sure whether the IR blaster is there or not. It is NOT on mine.

  • hi, my m8s is great, but i have 1 problem, the front camera makes photos very OVERsaturated, does anyone have this problem ? will updates on camera rezolve this ?

  • it does have the IR port, HTC customer support confirmed that for me yesterday.

  • it does have the IR port, HTC customer support confirmed that for me yesterday.

  • It feels a little hot in the hand, is this normal because I had plastic phones in the past?

  • got this phone yesterday and from moving from an iPhone 6 to Android I was sceptical, but must say it was a good decision and it's slowly converting me to Android. Would recommend this to anyone and everyone the only downfall for me is poor battery life.

  • i just bought!! SAR: 0.453 HEAD 0.237 BODY nice!!

  • Have a look on ebay

  • Does this have an IR blaster? no any tv app found in the stock firmware and also 3rd party IR controlling apps aren't working in this phone. any idea!

  • htc is the best best

  • Super phone at all.Thanks

  • Hello everyone! Does anyone know if there is an official dot view case for the M8s? I currently have a dot view case for the M8 and it's not closing properly. Is that because the M8s is slightly thicker at 9.6mm vs 9.4mm for the M8? Someone please post a link so I can buy the dot view case for the M8s?

  • H T C is a good phone

  • Fantastic phone! Lightning fast and the Canberra is amazing with it's 2mp light sensor. It fits in the old m8 cases perfectly. The speakers are fantastic. Screen quality is absolutely stunning. Overall, I would give this phone a 9/10.

  • i think htc one m8 has a stronger screen and better camera so htc one m8

  • Should I get the HTC One M8 or the M8s? They're both $60 on contract with 3gb data.

  • Its snapdragon 615 with andreno 405

  • htc one m8s

  • M8 or M8s? please help

  • Please Review Please....

  • Is the Ir blaster working and have you experience that a game you played was too much for the processor to run?

  • HIGH TECH COMPUTERS,if you don't like it you dont have to buy it. Theres plenty of alternatives. This is a serious question, What would you suggest HTC change? Do you think a Porsche 911 should be changed to a different shape each model?

  • This is a fantastic phone that is an absolute bargain at it's midrange price. HTC have stuck with the aluminum body as there is no better alternative. It looks & feels amazing & stronger than anything else. This is a tried & tested rework of the M8 & this is a good thing. After years of real world testing & every possible problem of the whole HTC ONE lineup they are able to provide a flagship phone at the cost of a midrange. Yes it is 16Gb compared to 32Gb, but it also has an octocore processor with adreno 615. I made the mistake of buying a Sony Xperia z3 only 2 weeks ago & the screen as well as the glass back have both cracked in first day due to it running hot during use.It has been sent away for repair & I have learnt my lesson that I should've bought another HTC, so I bought this m8s & couldn't be happier with it.

  • If it's already a great deseign why change it? The all aluminum body is awesome in looks, makes it stronger than any other phone & doesn't need to be changed for the sake of changing it to an unknown inferior deseign. I was silly enough to buy an Xperia z3 after 5 years of HTC phones & after a week the screens are cracked due to the processor getting hot, not dropping it. How I wish I had bought another aluminium HTC. I'm kicken myself badly for this decision.

  • Here is the link with more info:

  • Why this phne are not in official website? And very less information can find in internet?

  • Hi I want to ask some questions. Why about this phone are so less information in internet? And why this phone are not in official website (www.htc.com) ? I really need to know about this device camera

  • Review this Gsmarena..please...!

  • Hi there, i've asked some time ago HTC Support about this same situation: I've wanted DOT VIEW for M8s, but there (and still are) only ones for M8s. The guy asked me for a while, then replied, that he tested it and it works with dot view stuff, but not fits perfectly. Then he told me, that in the future there will be DOT VIEW cases specially for M8s. That strange, if You're case wont work with phone. R U sure You've got original part? I've met with lot of fake cases, which looks same as original, but were made with worst type of material.

  • Please let me know if anybody used this phone with a dotview case. I got one from ebay, opened up the dotview app and it doesn't seems to work ... The case if for M8 - it fits good but no dotview stuff on the screen thx

  • Does the Ir blaster in the Htc One M8s work? In compared with the camera in the M8 - how is the zooming?

  • Anyone else found the barometer? Mine also states there is no barometer. And no IR blaster.

  • Thank you!

  • cannot get your link to work..

  • Not sure what's going on, but this should work: (Sample photos from everyday use on the go, auto settings)

  • @Marcs.., that link is also dead. @All Everyone should get this over the M9, cuz the M9 lacks the barometr and depth sensing camera. Not sure why HTC left the bar. out of the M9 but it was a really stupid thing to do.

  • update for M9 camera came out shortly after your post and is now perfect.. :)

  • I know what you mean. I just upgraded from the original HTC One to the HTC One M9, and already that takes some getting used to.

  • Dead link, new one:

  • Had this phone for two weeks. Came from M7. Speed is good but not flawless while heavy multitasking. Everyday use no problem at all, and I'm picky. The feel is superb. Dropped it on asphalt, only minor scratches that are not really noticeable. Battery life good. Camera is just OK, but it takes decent pictures - not a deal breaker. I have gathered some samples photos you can look at: Would definitely buy this over M9, also because I like the design better.

  • That's a negative, remember this is an all aluminum phone.

  • I cant believe EVERY single smartphone that HTC has put out has exactly the same shape.try something new for a change HIGH TECH COMPUTERS inc.!!

  • One review I have seen states that the M8s has inbuilt wireless charging. I cannot find anything else to confirm or deny. Can an owner verify?

  • Actually I made it..now Facebook helps a lot..so I made some transfers with my fb account..anyway..the camera is quite good..need to learn how to use it..cause it's almost like a reflex..

  • Wondring why did they release this variant of m8, when they already had the m9 released. Pretty sure no more than 30% of people will look at it. Cause theres the m9 which is better.

  • As Android and iOS are different in every way possible, you will have to re-download the apps from the Google Play Store. Some apps may not be available on Android (yet), but there will most probably be a similar one for you. Welcome to Android! :D

  • how do you find the camera?

  • Guys..hi there..I got this phone 2 days ago..until now it's really good..just need to know how to get my app's from an iPhone 5..I used the sync stuff but it moved only contscts, photos, and some bookmarks.. Btw the camera rules..the difference from iPhone 5 to this is huuuuge

  • whose camera is the best..??? m8 or m8s...

  • i got the m8 and my sister the m8s. looks and works exactly the same. then again we aren't gamers. hence why you have ps3s for this.

  • turn off HDR?

  • M8S .. this is latest and new sensor add.. but prossesor 615

  • Which one will better HTC One M8s or HTC One M8 (Eye)?

  • Depends upon your preferences. G3 has bigger screen, and bit wider may not be suitable if you have small hands. It heats up, the issue is pretty widespread, plus the software isn't very polished and smooth. Battery life is average at best. M8 is all premium feel, a bit heavier but fits beautifully in hand, better battery and colors on screen. Software is the best in the Android world, the in ear AUdio is the best that I have ever used with a cell phone and boom audio is just too cool.

  • lg g3 or m8??

  • Does anyone know if it is or will be available in USA?

  • such a nice phone.camera result is awesome.good battery timing. graceful phone.

  • I've noticed the same problem. Does anyone know how to solve it?

  • Like m8 it is a super star.

  • was hoping the camera would be better than m8.... trying to make up mind between this and galaxy s5...

  • I worked with this 2days ago.the speed and smoothness is great and no any delay.screen good to very good. camera is mediate and if compare with original M8 could find that original M8 is better.sounds are great, net speed is awesome and very very luxury and awesome

  • Brace yourselves! Be prepared for ads on your home screen!

  • What's the main camera like and speeds of phonetic general please.... Thankyou.

  • Just bouth this phone 2hours ago and already has an issue front facing camera oversaturates colors red=pink and has a closer angle vs htc one m8.I went to another store to see if my phone has problems but no...the same thing there with another m8s...even front faceing camera on m8 mini2 its better that m8s front facing camera that oversaturates colors !

  • anyone got this phone... hows the camera..

  • anyone who is comparing m8s to m8 keep in mind that there is no comparison when it comes to CPU.. s615 is 64bit but still its no where near s801 of m8!.. according to notebookcheck.com s615 is equal to s600 which ws in first gen htc one.. s801 is a real beast! almost two times more powerful than s615!

  • 160g for a phone with 5 inch display ? how embarrassing

  • what is the camera like on this phone?

  • Hey bro can u tell me which sense version your one m8s is running ?

  • How Much Does it Cost ? Could you please let me know... How about the battery life & clarity and notify some features specifically . Thank you .

  • dude, is this cpu is slow......... and is galaxy s5 is better than htc one m8s or m8

  • I own the One M8s for about 2 weeks now and love it- great phone overall - just one edit re: the specifications, all sites say under Communication that it has an IR port- well, it doesn't. Not that it's a deal breaker- but just so people are correctly informed. I was trying to install the HTC remote app (both the old one -HTC TV and its replacement Peel whatever) - and none works (either saying no IR sensor detected or -please turn on your HTC Mini+). Wrote to HTC support & they've confirmed it doesn't have an IR port. Cost savings.

  • Does it really have a pressure sensor (barometer)? I've installed two barometer apps and both are reporting that the device does not have a pressure sensor.

  • I ordered this after a long taught, over should i order M9 or M8s. It costs quite little to me, as I get stuff straight from warehouse. So the cost difference was still 1/3. What could we get for the 1/3? I was disappointed, that M9 only had one back camera, also it doesnt have a funny little thing- barometer. On the plus side there is the camera, capable of 4K. I had my Sensation XE until now. All the buttons have fallen off a second, replaced CH body, the screen has been cracked for half a year now, the second, also CH battery is almost done (We have cold winters -30 degrees) But the 8MP camera is still alive, after ROM upgrade, icould also do 60FPS slow motion. I was malking a Youtube channel using only the phone and now I finally bought a real camera. So the camera is not important to me, except the slow motion. M8s and M9 both shoot 720p 120FPS slow motion, so no difference there. Sdd barometerm, which allows to know the weather offline and the dual-camera and the winner is there. And for last thing, ofcourse I don't game. I like to kill time with Heroes of Might & Magic II port, but thats no GPU-heavy. There is no Display difference either. I really like my choice more and more. Now waiting for my new friend :) My fourth HTC in a row, starting with Touch Cruise ;) I just love those innovative bastards. Great stuff they make! Thanks HTC!

  • But I prefer HTC to Samsung. HTC is more touch sensitive than Samsung. M8 & M9 both are great. The display & sound quality of htc is better than Samsung...

  • Dude m8s clearly wins over m8 since m8s has a 64 bit processor so you should don't doubt on the performance of m8s on m8, but i recommend to go for m9 which has 3gb of ram and good processor too and if you want to get more performance and good display go for s6, well Samsung has really came up with a good design this time and also has fast charging as you asked for, also not to be mentioned but the benchmark performance difference is around 15,000 pt between s6 over m9.

  • I ordered it 2 days ago. It costs 429 in France with refund offers real cost will be 389. Sense 7 will come with android 5.1. Right now, m8s is sent with 5.0.2 and sense 6. I have a doubt about the IR blaster.

  • Hey buddy, i m still choosing between m8s and m9, too. By comparing m8 and m8s, SD615 runs at 4x1.7ghz + 4x1.0ghz. SD801 runs at 4x2.3ghz. M8s does not provide quick charge. I'm not sure it comes with sense 7 out of the box or sense 6. other is camera difference. Other is the same. Thats all.

  • so it should be cheaper

  • hello guyz..! kindly sincerely suggest me about HTC One M8 bcoz its all specs attract me with price as well in Saudi Arabia.waiting for kind suggestion.Regards.

  • i hope there will be GPE for this.. (i love stock android XD)

  • As long as you are not playing heavy games this phone is perfect... a great design... nice camera(just going by specs, I dont know how it performs in real life) and the boomsound speakers...

  • Thz for your suggestion, but original m8 4MP isnt working when it comes to zoom. The fact i'd like to buy m8s is bcoz of duo camera. Juz still worried abt processor. ^.^ No heavy gaming on m8s. Juz normal uasge like web browsing, etc. Will SD615 work???

  • In HTC official UK website, it shows only 13 MP camera without OIS. Still other sites show 13MP only. It must be DIS.

  • 13MP with OIS look promising. HTC should make phones like these

  • Useing htc one with snapdragon 600 Quad-core 1.7 ..never had any laag since all sense versions .. now on htc m8s has snapdragon 615 with octacore .. i dnt think there is going to be any laags ..

  • Very good, Htc all the way.

  • Very good, Htc all the way.

  • Buy the regular htc one m8. And buy it asap as htc is going to discontinue the production. SD 615 is not that great when compared to SD 801 in the m8...

  • Indonesia please love it so much

  • Hope it has fast charging .. spec looks promising .. waitng

  • Does anyone can confirm if the phone has OIS or Digital image stabilization or not and for image and videos? as some other sites say its Optical while the htc site didn't announce about that

  • the device will cost approximate 50k

  • at last I got perfect specifications thanks htc,,plzz consider price htc,,not make me sad

  • According to anandtech this will ship with bluetooth 4.1+APTX(secure/ipv6) and not 4.0APTX

  • Is Qualcomm SD 615 fast?? Thinking between M9 and M8s. M9 camera isnt good enough according to sample pics.

  • Very good

  • its sooooooooooooooo goooood i like it

  • I think it's overpriced. should be E400-E450 no more...

  • Where did you get the information about OIS?

  • A perfectly balanced specifications. Tnanks HTC.

  • is it really got ir blaster... when it will launch in asia?

  • I hope this one has a great camera quality.

  • I love the specs tho downgraded version., still i got a better camera... I hope that they have digital image stabilizer.....
