Get away from LG. I had that one, returned it after weeks, battery was awful, heated like hell. Then I got an G3 great at the beginning then the battery issues and heating. My friends were saying wonders so I went for the G4 guess whats happening now? I'm done with LG.

This is my favorite smartphone ever! It's timeless and despite old jelly bean 4.1 and occasional overheating issues still relevant when it comes to brutal screen brightness, cpu, gpu, 8 MP camera and full hd video resolution. Also I always liked it's tight slick design. It survived 5 years of heavy usage and all kinds of falls but now this baby is starting to lag a little bit too much :/

Hi guys. I just wanna ask, were you able to upgrade the OS? Mine is stuck in ‎4.0.4 and there's no updates available. I can't install apps on the playstore it says that the device is not compatible. I have tried various method to try and upgrade but still no luck. Can anyone please help?

Well, I had this phone for 3 and a half years and it is time to tell my opinion. For the first 2 years the phone worked fine, but now it just can't keep up, it lags A LOT, 1gb of RAM is not enough for the 2017 apps. The camera is good, takes some great pictures (although the front camera is kinda bad). The battery life is bad, and it gets super hot after spending some time playing games, or just browsing the internet. It was a good phone, but now it's time for an upgrade ;)

Have this phone for 4 years and it is still good and working for me! although the battery sucks now maybe because the phone is too old. Like the other users, I've also experienced the hard to press power and volume buttons but I solved it by using alcohol on those buttons while the phone's battery is removed. I've also dropped this phone numerous times because I'm careless. But the screen didn't crack and still scratchless. Overall, I think this phone is worth it.

I've had the same problem as the previous user. The phone was okay for the first 18-24 months, but after that became terribly slow. Loading the home screen can take tens of seconds, and major lag is noticeable in most places. I've tried returning to factory settings and cleaning the cache, but they don't help. I would not recommend LG phones.

In the beginning I was very happy with this phone. Phone was really good looking: appearance, display quality, camera shots (had some problems with focus, not smooth focus), the UI appearance was very nice for me. Weather widget looked great. But after some time of usage it began to lag as sh*t. Even to open a phonebook last about 15-20 sec. When I was going back to home screen, every icon of apps was loading once again and at that time phone is completely unusable. For navigation to start working (finding location) it took about 10 min.. Battery was very weak, drains in your eyes. When using browser (especially on wi-fi) phone gets very laggy. Then I was very disappointed and really angree, I wanted to change this phone as soon as possible. But then I found a solution. I've disabled MLT function and used Nova launcher. Then phone became highly usable without almost any lag. At the end of the warranty I decided to root this phone and flash custom ROM. I tried various of them CM 11, 12, MM, Nameless, Resurection Remix, omniROM, Enox ReloadedFx, BlisPop (which was highly usable and really nice visually, but sometimes it crashed and had some bugs. Really liked its enhanced camera and sound) and finally I tried Zaiben, which I am using now and it is the most stable of all them and really smooth with decent battery life. I phone would be working like this from the beginning I think I would had very good opinion about it, but now I think my next phone will not be LG. At least at this moment. I think next gen LG mobile phones are really good, advanced, but they are too big and I doubt about their battery.

Make sure to backup your current ROM in case you don't like the new one so you can always go back. btw, the link appears to be broken because GSMArena is inserting a soft hyphen inside it for some reason. remove it and boom it works!

I've used that phone for 3 years now. The first year was fine and I was happy with the phone. After this problems started. Today it is extremely laggy, has to be restarted a couple of times every week, even though I've made a complete factory reset twice. Also poor quality of the plastic frame (broke off on the bottom) and the volume control buttons are not working anymore. All in ll I've been disappointed and my next phone will not be a LG again.

First of all, if you expect smooth performance from a 4-year-old smartphone you wouldn't be running stock android(with all the bloatware and lagging manufacturer services). You'd be running a custom AOSP rom. Then you wouldn't have such problems. I'm using an L7 II P710 with CM10.2 and it's butter smooth, even if LG took a shit on the device's drivers. Yes, the S5 is indeed a much better device, but your comparison is pointless. It's like comparing Golf Mk1 to a Ferrari(for example).

Hi all, I use this phone for 2 years. In beggining it was great phone. No lags, nice pictures from camera - was great. Last 1 year it was very bad. Maybe some apps uses more resourses. The phone works very slow, and a lots of lags. Every night the phone was put to recharge. I try with phone reset, but that not helps too. Last week I sold it , and buy Samsung Galaxy S5. Now everything is OK , and I`m happy with my new phone. Good luck to LG, but I decide to change it :)

battery life is the best ive seen if it was poor it was your fault (if you didnt have the version with sd slot). i easely get 8 hours screen on time spread over 3/4 days standby with wifi and bluetooth alwasy on but i do manage my Phone manualy as everyone should. Syncing crap uses a gazillion of your battery therefore it should Always be disabled and done manualy. I never heard of the button breaking so its either you that presses it to hard (these buttons are not desinged fot that or you had it in your pants where theres presure on it which in my opinion is a nono aswell. UI lagging is also someting i NEVER had any issues with itdss Always smooth so im starting to think your using a bad app causing cpu usage all the time or leaking memory making the ui lag. Network signal has nothing to do with the Phone but with your operator. Im currently mobing and in the old house i have 1005 coverage but in the new house i have less then 20% at best. This is causing an aditional 15% a day drain while on 2g which might be some of your issue again. I use chrome and never have a problem with heating maby some other browser has a bug keeping the cpu active. so id try a reset first and run a while without extra crapware on the Phone. It might be as simple as a bad app killing your Phone. For one dont use facebook apps but open facebook on the mobile website same looks and the only thing you will lack is notifications when someone goes to the bathroom or cuddles a goat but you will get way better battery life.

I've had the phone for around 2 years and half, but my general opinion it's that is been a huge disappointment for the money i payed for it (around 270 euro). The issues I've had: - low battery life, in the beginning it used to last around 2 days, with only moderate whatsapp/internet usage, low number of calls/messages and no other apps, now it lasts for maximum 1 day (I've set the brightness to 11% since the day i bought it which makes it unusable in sunlight, but i don't think it helped) - the power/unlock button no longer worked after 1 year (had to push it very hard before it reacted), the warranty solved that...but i guess it's only a matter of time before it breaks again... - the UI lagged since the day of purchase and still does so.. - network signal issues inside buildings with a lot of floors, I've recently changed the network provider and the issue seems even worse now (the mobile data connection works in whatsapp only if i open the app, i generally do not receive the whatsapp messages if i don't manually start the app to check for them...this didn't happen with the other provider, but i'm pretty sure it's related to the phone antenna quality also..) - constant call quality issues (probably related to the network signal issues, but i'm not sure) - I've tried some newer camera apps/taxi service apps and they lagged very badly (gave up on that) - very high RAM usage, around 700-800 MB while doing nothing (and i have a lot of the bloatware apps force stopped/disabled from settings) - it overheats when browsing (?!?!?), it's annoying to hold it in your hand, but it's not exactly burning you to the point you have to drop it, so i can't even imagine what would happen in some demanding game (never tested games on it) The pros: - never had issues with the camera and I like the pictures/movies it takes - the display has nice colors and good quality in general (I loved watching movies on it) - the sound is good (when the network connection works) - the Gorilla Glass proved useful, but I still managed to scratch it in one corner (should have used protective foil sooner....) - it's very well build (durable) as I dropped it a couple of times (from low heights and on soft surfaces, like carpets) I'll buy a new battery and try the Cyanogenmod 11 to see if i can squeeze some more life/usage out of it, but I wouldn't recommend this phone (or any LG phone) to anyone who asks...

Cyanogen works faster than 4.1.2 stock, thats true but it is completely unstable! I getting errors while using phone for calling, simple aplications and even when I try take a photo. I cant play any 3d game on CM too. After 1/2 year clean stock worked pretty fine with small lags but now, when I have this phone longer even clean stock is unusuable - long freezes everyday. I tried disable MLT, restarting to factory settings, cleaning cache but still got big performance problems.

After 2 years of struggle I must regrettably say: it's a disaster. Lags, freezes, self power off, phone call lost, etc. I have modded it and now is rooted with Vanir 4.3.1 plus Kodak kernel. Managed to bring Antutu benchmark to 21000 but the overall experience is still negative. I came to the conclusion that LG has realized that this phone hardware is a dog (hdw bugged) and therefore decided to drop the sw support. LG NEVER AGAIN.

Bought this little fellow since it was on a huge discount and there was little at that price range that could compete ($125!). Came with ICS 4.0.3 out of the box and promptly upgraded it to JB 4.1.2 and so far things are good. When not loaded it's quite smooth and apps load in a satisfactory manner, with a few things running in the background things slow down though understandably. Only issue is the battery lasts quite little though I was kind of expecting that cause I know of the Tegra 3 and how it is. Overall for the price I paid, can't beat it. Is it perfect? Far from it but with alternatives being a Lumia 535 or a cheap Huawei or Lenovo in my country but with the advantage of a former flagship.

I had the similar experience with it. I am using it for over 2 years now. Proximity sensor stopped working after 1yr.. Volume down button requires more force than before.. I dropped it several times, but once it was on the wood floor, from one meter of height, and screen cracked, altough it works the same as before. It is also very laggy, and I restart it every day. When I have a call, it is like lost.. it is so slow to answer.. I have a lot of problem rooting it also, and I don't know why..

you need to compare a Phone to its direct competitors at the time of release not to a Phone released after... it was released in a time where they were improving rapidly and its better in EVERY way compared to its direct competitor. now there are better Phone but this Phone is almost 3 years old... mine btw still works great without a single issue and 4+ hours screen on time so... people expect to much and compare to the wrong phones.

I've had this phone for over 2 years now, and i'm not very happy with it. Let's talk about the cool stuff first, though. Unbreakable: i literally dropped this phone 10000 times (not literally, tbh), and it never broke. not even a scratch. also, when i have wet hands and i need to use my phone, everything's absolutely fine. the touchscreen reacts really fast and normally. thx gorilla glass, i guess. well, and that's already all about positive stuff. let's get going... handiness. its pretty difficult to hold in your hand. since it's pretty big, and the 'on/off button' is on the top side of the phone, which makes it kinda difficult to like... hold. at least for me. also, after 1 year of owning the phone, the on/off button wasn't reacting as fast anymore, it's really slow and i have to push it really hard for it to react. (yes, that happened after 1 year, i've had it for 2 years) design and interface. welp. i don't like it much. it's meh. the keyboard looks really 'uncool'... i have a launcher app and a keyboard app installed to make it look cooler. yeah. APPS. great. i have tons of apps installed, and idk if a phone is supposed to be able to handle all of these apps, but i guess so. a good phone at least. (2 years ago, when i bought it, i didn't expect to be using so many apps in the future) i have facebook, facebook messenger, instagram, snapchat, kik, telegram, skype, youtube, spotify, and various other apps installed. (am i addicted to apps? oh man...) well, it's actually pretty fast. but, as soon as you try to use different apps at the same time, it gets really slow or shuts down completely. yes, it shuts down. and it won't turn on unless you take the battery out and put it in again. this started happening to me after 1 1/5 years, and it happens everyday, multiple times. which is really REALLY annoying. sometimes it does that when i don't do anything too. like when i just wanna look at the time or something. it's like BYE. maybe i'm asking for too much. probably. yeah i am. lets face it. CAMERA. back then, i wanted to have a phone purely to take nice pictures. i love photography and taking pictures of lots of cool stuff. BUT. the quality is so bad. let's be real. i liked it in the beginning. it was ok. it is ok. there's an option for HDR pictures. which is so bad. those pictures look so bad. also the front camera is crap. but first, let me take a blurred, dark, bad quality selfie. *DANCES* the camera of the p880 needs good lighting. like, really good lighting. it has to be bright as shit. otherwise your picture won't show anything other than PURE DARKNESS. when you try to turn the brightness up in the camera options, it just makes it worse. the picture gets all grainy. so yeah the camera was the first thing i was disappointed of. battery duration is pretty good when you don't use any apps. listening to music for a few hours works fine. yes this is my review for the lg p880. more negative than positive, but i needed to vent. thinking about buying a sony xperia z3 compact. im buying a nice camera too so i dont care about the camera quality anymore. i just need a fast phone. i have zero patience for a slow phone. yay, great, love, stef

Luckily Im still using it now, to write this opinion whilst bring high on weed and sippin rum. Anyway, this phone never failed, I recommend this shit to everyone. After about 4 months of using , I've installed CyanoGenMOD 11 on my P880 after just two weeks from buying it . But I finally realized that the problem isn't the Stock ROM , the problem is the phone itself . It's awful , antique and has a lot of problems . I hate my phone , I will sell it at any price so I can buy a new Chinese phone . They are cheap and have a lot of advantages . Lets say for example the great One+ .

meanwhile i have this Phone almost 3 years and is still flawless as when it was new. never hangs never reboots never lags and that with 2 cores disabled 4.0 android and remaining 2 cores at 650 mhz. i once more blame all the terribly crap apps people install and still expect there Phone to work. its like installing viruses and mallware on windows and still expecting a functional pc. its not the phones fault the Phone was simply the best of its generation. newer genrations are way better sure but you cant compare it with that its just a old Phone now but still flawless.

I still live in everyday agony with this phone, so many times did reset everything and starting all over, work ok for about 1 month, and same problem again and again. so sloooow, freezing all the time, eating my nervs...problem is i lost my job, and till i gat new i cant afford new mobile phone, but the same day i do, this one will be thrown directly into wall :D

i went to a other Phone a few months ago but my lg is still used for some apps and what you say is wrong and most likely caused by something else loke a bas data hogging app like facebook apps. my Phone has over 18 days standby with wifi on (no sim) so wifi is definitly not a power hogger unless you have bad apps on the Phone. my advice as with EVERY Phone is root it and use greenify.

Works fine. Screen refreshes more frequently than normal. At times the RAM is hogged and it tends to hang. Battery backup is extremely poor when the WiFI or data is turned on. But Stand-By is incredible and can withstand the whole night without losing out on charge. No UPDATES is a big drawback.

its near impossible to brick your Phone while rooting at long as you dont touch the bootloader. you can Always recover the Phone so you can only softbrick it or create bootloops and so on but full bricking is impossible.

Yes, there is a possibility that you could brick your phone by rooting it but only if you fail to follow the proper procedure. You can check some guides of how to properly root your phone in the xda-developers website.

For anyone having issues with random short reboots (not full reboots that make you fill in password again) i think i found the cause. For the past 9 days i have bin running the Phone without a lockscreen and i havent had a single reboot. So either try to run your Phone without the lockscreen security or if yopu dont trust your coworkers,friends and family download a alternative lockscreen from the play store and see if that fixes your problem. ive not seen a single reboot since i just disabled it.

"reorganizing internal processes" means the radio process has crashed. This usually happens when the internal modem of your phone is stuck and the CP (communication processor) watcher is restarting the modem. The modem in the phone may suffer from a hardware bug on some revisions when data transfer and voice data are happening at the same time. The workaround is to switch the network to 2G and it won't have this problem. Even if you use custom firmware you would have this problem - just that you won't see the "reorganizing internal processes" message, instead you just see the signal's gone and regains it after a while.

it was 1 months ago when LG Germany told me on the phone, that they have no solution for the 'reorganizing internal prozesses'-issue, MAYBE in the end of this year. I returned the phone 3 weeks ago and am now waiting for my new 4X.....

using the phone in Germany since 7 months. I got an issue called ,reorganizing internal processes, after 3 months. I wanna make a call or semeone wanna call me so the connection totally brakes down the screen goes black and the lovely message above appears. That happens more often by the time. I returned the phone to shops customer care twice allready (thanks God, no root yet and still warranty). on first return the service changed the motherboard and made an update, second time the ,customer care center, could not detect any problem, but I HAVE A PROBLEM making phone calls with that device, my friend has the same problem...After gcalling LG Germany, they told me that they have NO Solution. im hoping that I can return it soon and buy myself a phone which can call... Dont know if this problem only appears in Germany....

I am not a fan of CM. I don't like its looks and your phone will look out of this world. Though I rooted my phone, I left it on stock rom, installed a custom kernel to max the CPU at 1.7Ghz. Well I am trying my phone now after I have uninstalled some applications and now its better than before. I found out that the application called "Muslim Pro" was freezing my phone totally. My phone is still under test till now. It operated 70 continuous hours till now with no problems at all. You can uninstall all the applications and install only your required applications like facebook, whatsapp etc... and try your phone after that. Then, you can install applications one by one to know if there is a specific application that freezes your phone. The only issue I have is that the facebook sometimes exits suddenly (but this is facebook app issue because before the latest upgrade it was better than that). Hope this helps.

First you need to root, unlock bootloader, flash TWRP Recovery and CWM Touch Recovery, and you can do all that from only a program Download it and run, from that program do what i wrote. Reset your Phone these are software problems and they are caused by bad apps bad rooting or screwing with stuff that shouldnt be touched. The ony way to run 4.4 is custom roms and they almost NEVER make your Phone better and certainly dont make your battery last longer if you manage it correctly on the suggested best v10h rom.

Hey Snoopy... You can certainly upgrade the software to Android KitKat, by installing Cyanogenmod's ROM. There is no release candidate for the CM11, the Nightly is fine, since the developers are constantly upgrading the software. I have a Galaxy S2 (from 2011) with CM11 (Android 4.4.4) on it. Installing is very easy IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. If you don't know what you're doing, then REFRAIN from doing the installation, since you can "brick" your phone and make it completely unusable. Make a wise decision! ;)

You misred me. My whole point was that they mislead you by saying you can expend your memory whil this is only partly true as you can only use it for a part of your data not all data which they make you beleave. Its more like additional memory for x purpose rather then expanding memory in general. You say: memory also referes to storage space for music, photos, movies and so on. Its not also its actualy the ONLY purpose. Its like saying you can expand a 4 seat car with more seats by placing items in the trunk. Which gives the car a bigger space but not usable to place people so therefore its still a 4 seat car with storage space for other things. Its misleading but hopefullt they will bring back this feature in all phones as clearly if you make a effort as a def its possible.

this is NOT possible. Its often advertised by ALL brands that you can expand the memort with sd but this is a marketing trick and since 4.0 it is no longer possible with 1 exception. Phones that were upgraded from 2.2/2.3 to 4.x van still do this because of the way the update is done. If your Phone came with 4.0 or 4.1 its not possible. Those phones generaly can just use the SD for music movies or photo storage nothing else (unless you attatch it to the pc ofcourse) However there is light at the end of the tunnel. I dropped my lg last week and bought a asus zenfone 6. with this Phone (android 4.3) the devs made a effort to once more move data to the SD so you get a fully working sd rather then just movies photo and music storage.

The only way to get better battery life is to root and downclock the cpu ditch bad apps like facebook and mail from the Phone and use the website version to check. or get a extended battery but those are ugly and make the Phone incompattible with all protective covers. And in realty even tho im satisfied wit the Phone the tegra3 was never supposed to go into phones and never should have bin considered. It was designed for tablets which have a much bigger battery. however with tweaking a lot is possible. i managed to get the use down to 3% overnight by using 2g instead of 3g (messages will still come in) by shutting down 2 cores and clocking the other 2 cores down to 640 mhz. the end result was 5 hour screen on time which for a Phone designed in 2011 and released in 2012 is quite inpressive. Another thing you shouldnt do with this Phone is install firmware 4.1.2 its just a bad piece of software. v10H is the best rom for the 4x HD.

Its not a bad Phone theres just a LOT of bad users that dont know how to use a smartphone correctly. This pone can do everythig the G2 and G3 can do and do it just as smooth. You can let yourselves fooled by the ones below me that are saying how good this phone is by rooting and flashing custom ROMs and kernels. Well, let me tell you that I never had a much worse phone than this. I tried every single custom rom, cyanogenmod etc. with the same poor results. Poor battery, very poor multitasking performance and at least for me, very bad performance even in not so very demanding games. This year I had on my hands Lg l9, htc desire 500, htc one s and galaxy s3. Optimus 4x it's equal with s3. Both phones have so much lag in any kind of tasks and it shouldn't be like this. plus of this, it gets hot as hell when you are just browsing the internet and nothing more. Htc one S S4 version was the indubitable king for me and I regret so much because I sold it, thinking at optimus 4x being an upgrade. Failed! Optimus 4x has his few good points too: great quality in call volume, very good screen brightness and solid construction. But this is it. If you want a very cheap and very good phone, get HTC One sS s4 version, Motorola Moto G. Lg Nexus 4 it's another decent phone which is worth trying. If I would have another chance to buy this phone I would not do it. Well, the decision is only yours, guys. I hope I helped.

to upgrade to kitkat, you need to root the phone, install a custom recovery (like clockwork mod or TWRP) then install a custom ROM (I have been running CM11 nightly with great success so far)

1 complaint of a Phone that broke is no excuse not to buy something as theres a few million users so thats way below the normal failure rate. Anyway this Phone is almost 2 years old now and even tho i love it and still think back then it was the best Phone there was for the money you should look further. Running Beanstalk 4.4.4007 with iodak kernel v10 for 2 days now and loving it. Beanstalk is very customizable; allowed me to add NFC, Torch, and Auto-rotation lock toggles to the Quick Settings pull-down screen, while nexus users are still waiting for google to add such toggle (like the auto-rotation) to the QS on their phones (currently only shows up on tablets). Even the power menu is customizable, allowing to add things like screenshot, screen recorder, etc. It can be a bit confusing at first, with so many options available. For example, after flashing BS and GApps, I found I have three launchers (Trebuchet, Nova, and Google). Not a bad thing. I tried each one and quickly sided with Nova Launcher. Wouldn't have known what I'd be missing had I chosen to flash CyanogenMod 10.1.3 stable :) last note, I also flashed the Stock LG/JB Camera app ( ). Only the front-facing camera doesn't work in it, but works with the stock camera in Beanstalk. Simply, Beanstalk ROCKS!

Turned almost all my light themed apps into dark ones and the dark ones became black. So insanely many options and settings I can hardly believe it, must be hundreds of extra settings

I use neither Skype nor the front camera so that I don't know. The other camera have problems in darker conditions on all roms I have tried, including the original though it may have been slightly better. It is indeed Cyanogenmod, official 2014-06-14 nightly, quite stable for me with few bugs. I guess it's all down to preferences so calling the original rom crappy was maybe a bit unfair, just because I couldn't stand it (the lockscreen, the light theme, the notifiction bar, the lack of customization options etc). It's still a shame LG won't update the phone even though it doesn't affect me, as I wouldn't have used it anyway. Not everyone want to void their guarantee after three days as I did.

Good phone as long as you don't depend on LG for updates, I only had their crappy rom for 10 days before moving on. Now I'm on Kitkat 4.4.3 with ART enabled which makes it quite smooth. I didn't install any google apps either, I'm better off without their battery drain. The developers have even introduced OTG on the phone, though I haven't tested it yet. Only tradeoff is that MHL doesn't seem to work but I don't use it anyway.

Heres some things you can try. -take out the battery for a minute? - Go to apps > all > Camera > clear data and cache. (backup photos first as im not sure it will or will not delete your immages as ive never tried this). - Download a other camera app from the play store to make sure its not just the camera app that is broken. Use this one only if your comfortable with it. -Open dailer and type in 3845#*880# a new hidden menu should pop open. Then go to the following: Device test> All Auto Test Menu-Full > Camera Test > Camera Preview. Here you either get a error or a crash in which case you take out the battery or you see the camera working and you press the center square to focus and take a photo. Then press pass if the photo was taken correctly. It will automaticly start taking a video and make some bleeps. and after 7 or so seconds show a video play sign. Press play. If it replays fine the hardware is alright. If these tests fail its possible the camera module or rom have a error. So if that does not work theres 1 more thing you can try as last resort. - Backup your entire Phone and do a factory rest (settings > back-up and reset > factory reset) If that fails You need to return it. BTW after you hidden menu use your keys will keep lighted up. you need to restart the Phone to fix this. Goog luck and let me know how it ended.

i can but frankly these modern games DRAIN the battery at a insane speed. If you really want to game your better off with one of tthe newer devices whic have a 22 or 28mn chip rather then a 40nm. They last over 4 hours where with asphalt 8 my battery lasts less then 2 hours! Its fine for my normal light use as i last up to 3 days on a charge but for gaming there are better devices these days. After all this is a outdated device by now.

the fact that it lasts 1 day is irrelevant without further details. -how long is your screen on timeon a full charge without gaming ? (gaming drains the battery verry fast on EVERY device) -do you have gps , bluetooth, auto sync on or off? -do you use 3g and how good is your signal strength and quality? (i went to a different provider with poor coverage and it cost me 1 hour screen on time with 3g usage...) -do you have apps with adds ? (these apps constantly load new adds over wifi or 3g which eats data and battery) -whats your brightness sett on? -what is your stanby drain in % with 3g overnight (8 to 10 hours) it shouldbe no more then 5-7% -do you use 2.5 or 5 ghz wifi? de 5ghz uses more power. Do you use your Phone briefly lots of times or do you use it for 15 min or longer sessions? longer sessions heat upthe battery and hot batterys drain quicker. rubber covers can increase heating and make the batt drain quicker. a Phone/tablet last the longest if you use it for short periods all the time rater then long periods sometimes as the battery gets to cool down and settle. Theres loads of things to consider when posting battery life on the net! ! ! ! By not doing this i dont take you serious as i dont even have 5% of the details and its highly likely that you give people a wrong impression which really buggs me.

Thats all normal. Apart from the lagging which is caused by either a bad installed app or rooting being done wrong. Again i run this Phone at 2x 650 mhz instead of 4x 1500 and its superfast and smooth all the time but i barely have any app installed. So do a factory reset and stay away from apps for a week and see how it preforms then.

yes this is normal sadly. a Phone with android 4.3 and 2 gb ram will only have 600 to 800 mb free as android caches whatever it can in the memory.. Once needed it will be removed from the memory and the new app will be loaded. The only disadvantage this had is for multitasking and battery life. as multitasking is limited based on free ram and battery life is affected by dumpong memory and reloading memory all the time. It even loads things you do not use which is a waste of cpu time and battery. This is not a lg problem tho its a andorid problem.

I took two photos with LG Camera, both were taken in the same conditions as the one taken with Google Camera. The focus point was the same. Here's another example - and The first one is from google camera, the second - LG Camera. Color reproduction is much better with GC, and I guess there's more detail as well.

This phone is awful.I have it since last year's november and it's so sloowwww.The battery get's hot super fast when you are playing games,they begin to lag sometimes even when you press the home button the phone lags for about 10 secs until it enters back home and it is so weak,it can't even last 7 hours when listening to music and looking through pictures or smthn else.It has though some awesome features and i also think that the design is very good and feels good in your hand.

After upgrading to Beanstalk 4.4.2 from stock JB 4.1.2 this phone became so much powerful, that I really don't see any reason to get a new flagship device :p The performance is so good, battery life is decent yet could be better and actually can get better - but I'm experimenting with settings in iodak kernek. What's more amazing - camera quality got better! The google camera app on Beanstalk creates much better pictures - there's more detail, and the photo looks better overall. - Google Camera - LG G2 Camera App - which makes the same quality photos as the stock one on the stock Jelly Bean

if it doesnt update update it manualy... he most likely wanted a cheap Phone and orderd a Phone not designed for his region so it cant update. download updates manualy and you ahve 4.1.2 im still at 4.0 as its simply the best rom the optimus ui is the fastest i have had on all my devices so if someone is having problems they most likely rooted badly or have a bad app installed. The fact some games dont work is due to verry lazy game devs this is not lgs fault they dont make games. And to be honest asphalt works fine for me so once again check what apps you have installed if it works all fine for me it must be something people did to there phones. people complain all day every day but the simple fact that i dont have issues is reason enough to believe others messed arround with things they shouldnt touch or installed crap software that scrwed up there phones. and as said many times before my Phone runs on 2 cores at 640 mhz not 4x 1.5 ghz and it still runs great and i get 5,5 hours screen on from it when not gaming.

Good phone ruined by horrible LG software...The phone is powerful, it has good specs but the fact that it runs on Optimus UI made it bad. My friend has this phone and in our country it just doesn't update, he's stuck on Android 4.0 ICS and games lag, Asphalt 8 is on Low setting, some other apps crash, and the user experience is horrible, if I compare this to HTC ONE X who has mostly the same specs, it got the update, and it works great! Runs Asphalt 8 maxed out, everything is stable and beautiful, no slowdowns at all.

i just use the stock camera app but i dont care much for Phone photos anyway all phones are rubbish pixture quality wise. if you want to take pixtures get one of those slim point and shoot quality they will b 5 times better. I myself have a DSLR instead for photographing as its just way better. Phones are nive for a snapshot or a pic of a transaction or whatever but not for photos die will care about and want to keep in the long term.

Poor battery, get's very often HOT. It also freezes a lot, which makes me take off the battery to restart it. Its camera is very dark and terribly slow. Each picture is captured after 5-10 seconds i touch the button!!

Touch screeens tend not to work when your fingers are really cold this is not a phone problem. So either warm your hands or move to a warmer place altogether haha. another thing you could try is getting a touch pen. there is no guarantee this will work but there is a bigger change it will stilll work then cold fingers.

i think LG will make more tablets but i think the sucsessor of the G pad is atleast 9 months away and there has bin no news to m knowledge of a 10 ot 7 inch tablet being released anytime soon. They only just started selling tablets again and they are taking it slow i guess to see how its accepted this time. And from another sad point aperently there will be no new nexus devices either since google won the stupid award 2014 in january already and promised samsing not to make more nexus devices. so our choice in tablets is gonna be a bit limites for a while (ASUS and samsung) but id personaly never buy samsung because i find all there gear having crappy build quality. so for me personaly its only asus tablets i get to choose from... I really hope LG jumps in with both feet and makes a full range of tablets. a budged and a pro range like a 120- euro kosting 7 inch and a 180 euro costing 7 inch with medium and high end specs and the same for 10 inch at arround 275 and 325 euro. LG knowing they will have excelent battery life and thats the thing massively lacking in tablets lately so they could really create a market for themselves. But either way i dont see this happening anytime soon. So make your pick from whats coming now :(

i have seen no tablet announcements with that specs at all let alone LG. personaly i find the g pad nice but thats about it. its just to expencive here to be worth it. for 60% of the price you have a new asus memo pad smart fhd 10 inch. but battery life wise i find 10 inch tablets to be lacking a bit. i assume its because of the bigger screen leds needed. if you want better specs i think your out of luck best thing to do is getting something cheap that will suffice and wait till tablets are more mature. Maby your 3d or wifi signal is weak you can try to set 3g to 2g when your at home so it doesnt drain ad fast. the 2g setting is enough for whatsapp use but not for browsing and so on. i recently switched provider and i noticed a seere loss in battery life with my phone just because the 2g / 3g quality is poorer then what i used to have. It might be worth it looking into what provider has the beste network where you live and get that unless its way more expencive ofcourse. theres also some 2g/3g switcher apps that leave a widged on your desktop so its faster then going intop the menu every time.

how do you explain me not having these issues at all at only 2x 650 mhz... If i dont have the issues then there surely is no issue otherwise i must have it also. That people create issues isnt the fault of the phone its 99% of the time a user fault with or without them knowing. And if people dont listen to me when i say stick with 4.03 v10H but cry because they want the latest software dont go blaming the phone which was working fine at v10H as there was no valid reason to update it:)

Pino seems to be making a valiant case for the 4x hd, but im sorry I don't agree with anything you say. How can you explain video being shown upside down, stuttering when browsing the internet, massive lag when using the virtual keyboard, of course it's cheap for a reason, basically it's a sub standard phone. I have using this phone and nokia lumia 720 about 1 years. And there are no problem.. Just the camera issues i am quite dissapointed. Even nokia lumia 720 that has 5MP camera has a good quality than Optimus 4X HD. My advise, don't take a shot in a low light. It would make your photo worse.. :]

(shamefull from LG that there is no update) If your phone is rooted, you can try to change sms apk (maybe with "8sms" -you can find it on google play, i think it is from Caynogenmod). (i didn't do it, becouse i don't want to lose my warrinty).

hi I also have this problem with sms. only started after JellyBean update. other than force closing it like you already do I've found that using a different launcher solves it. since I've used action launcher, apex launcher or holo launchers I've never had a sms freeze problem. all the launchers I've mentioned have free versions. I've upgraded them. if any one can solve the problem any other way I will be happy to try the LG home launcher again!

The facebook app is one of the worst apps on the internet so id get rid of that first and use the website version. you can make a shortcut to the mobile website and it looks the same and is even faster. and root has nothing to do with any of this it was just to show you that even on 30% of the power this phone is still more then powerfull enough. id do a factory reset > reboot > install a probleme game and try it before installing any other app. if the problem still occurs bring back the phone for a replacement as it might be a hardware issue. a good sample of the phone has no issues thats a fact. wherher a sample becomes bad because of apps or is a factory error i cant say without testing it myself which is not a option.

Wel last time somone complayened i downloaded the batman game and it run flawlessly with 2 of my cores disabled and the other 2 on 1ghz instead of 1.5. Maby you have a rotten app installed or you should have stayedon 4.03 as i adviced:) 4.1 with its butter project only demands more from the gpu for unnoticible features if the rom is smooth from itself :) If i dont have any issues noone else should unless they have a bad hardware sample which is almost impossible as the flaws in socs are really low. The only thing that can kill preformance is bad apps or wrongfull management of a device. Id love to personaly help everyone here by looking trough there device and see where the flaw is but sadly i cant and you all dont live arround the corder hehe. but the fact is this phone should be capable of running every single game if you cant there must be a logical reason for it which only you can find.

Many would but you cant so its not a option. Therefore people should stop demanding updates as you dont have the right to updates its a gift if you get them. And apple only makes 1 series of a iphone with at best 3 varaities of hardware so thats WAY easyer then companys that make up to 10 phones at the same time all with different hardware configurations and even different versions for different country's and regions due to local laws. So for apple its reasonbly easy to make updates plus you spend up to 3 times more for a apple device so basicly you payed for the extra services.

Hi pino With regards updates on phones and computers. Please don't compare. I have paid for updates from Windows 98 to Windows me. And Windows vista to Windows 7. If I could do the same on my phone I would. The reason people want them is Google set up the idea that phones would and should get updates for at least 18 months from release. This is compounded by the fact the iPhone gets updates anually for about 2 years after its release. Weather this is good or bad this is the world we live in.

you forgot to research the JB rom. 4.03 v10H is still the best rom ever made for any device i used. Never crashes never lags light on memory so better multitasking smooth ui even with only 2 cores at 650 mhz for a year now. google some stuff before you install the latest roms. Newer is NEVER better untill you researched it. google xda lg 4x hd rollback to 4.0 you should be able find how you can go back to 4.03 :)

if it lags and gets stuck its either broken or you have crap software on it do a factory reset and try again or return it as it does not lag infact its the smoothest phone ever. it does not even lag on 2 cores disables and 2 cores on half power. so if it lags its not the phones or siftware fault. so factory reset o return for a repair/replacement.

Wel its no secret there are quite a few better phones now but face it its ober a year after the initial release. Its still by far the best phone in its price catagory and every phone that is better costs atleast 40% more. this phone would love 4.4 as Google has deliberately made it run smoothly on lower spec phones. it's just a shame LG don't support there once flag ship phones. I hate to compare it but the Samsung s2 came out before and Samsung have / are still updating (don't know how well it runs but it's at least still getting updates) I feel LG forget that people on contract usually have a two year contract but they only give it a 12 month guarantee, and appear to only support it for less than 12 months from original release date. Shame as this could have been a great phone and still run latest version of android

I updated two of these phones to Android 4.1.2 but it caused more problems than any gains. Unless your absolutely sure that an update to another Android firmware will benefit you I would say dont as once done I dont think it can be downgraded to android 4.0.3. LG does not seem likely to be offering any updates for this phone which is a shame as with bug free updates the phone could be really good and it does have quad core so should be able to take Android 4.3 possibly kitkat.

I have been using this with cm ROM stable 10.1.3 (android 4.2) and it's been stable and smooth. If lg did something similar they would sell more phones but their version of android is not pleasing to the eye. The display is great. Consistently gives 300 mb of free RAM with cm

sorry for the delay i was on vacation :) the highest battery alltogethet is 4300 mah however this is a extended battery and prevents the use of a normal cover/housing. the highest standard size battery is currently 2500 mah.

sorry but its preformance is BETTER then its direct competitor the one x. if yours is slower you did something wrong as i downclocked it to 2 cores at 650 mhz and its smooth. if its a disapointment you havent researched the other options that were available back then which all were worse.

And I totally disagree with you. when I got it it was by far the best value phone around as LG had reduced the price. so if I was to now get something new I would have to spend double to get something like you are after! only phone that is close in price is nexus 5. but that is still more expensive. Had this phone for over a year now and just dont rate it whatsoever. Nice design and feel, very ggod display and wonderful for gaming but other than that its performance is second rate. LG rushed this phone into the market without checking it properly. Will look forward to the LG G3 hopefully sometime mid 2014, should be a top phone or I may go for one of these phablets with UHD resolution which should be released sometime in 2014 but this 4x HD has to go down as a very big disappointment indeed.

For all of you guys who wants custom rom, go with the vanir rom. It is supported from xda community and it has the stable version of 4.3.1 android. Cyanogenmod is not bad but after you try vanir you'll never come back. Also it has a transparent statusbar. On cm it's so hard to get it

i recommend you to update to 4.1.2 before use the toolkit for root. Search in xda forum for the 1.4.1 toolkit. Read the post and follow the steps for root and install a custom rom. Oh, and look i can tell you that 4.1.2 stock is not buggy. It works perfectly. I use stable version of Cyanogen, the CM 10.1.3. I can tell you that in about 1 and a half month, for one time it turned off my phone with no reason. I just started it again and it was fine since then. Another time i was using it in games, webpages, etc and it got very hot and getting laggy. I went to my app System tuner pro and saw that the three cores were in use at 1.5ghz constantly. Again i restarted it and became fine. But i keep using the CM 10.1.3. But keep in mind that custom roms aren't always as perfect as stock roms.

Its not the flagship anymore. After this phone there was the optimus G then the g pro and now the G2. These days phones are a flagship for barely 6 months :)

the biggest battery i have seen is only 2450 mah which is less then half an hour increase in battery life. sadly they didnt bother making bigger batterys in the same size even tho technology now can make bigger ones. theres extended batterys tho but they are ugly and make the phone just a little to fat.

Why i should degrade to updated one.(May be this solve a problem in battery and some bugs) LG users never go to downgrade because they belived and liked LG brand. Well using this phone about 1 year, after update from 4.0.3 10H to 4.1.2 20B got camera issue. reinstalled 4.1.2 20A works fine without any problems. P.S. Rooted, unlocked bootloader. (did that because LG official update bricked my phone camera.)

1.overheating means the device gets to hot to use or shuts down this phone does NOT overheat... 2.this phone isnt laggy at all infact i have 2 cores dusabled and the other 2 on 650 mhz only and it NEVER laggs if it lags you prolly have cr(apps) installed or dont manage your phone. 3.it is 8 MP people just expect WAY to much from a phone camera. look into the technical limitations of cmos sensors and how pixel size matters. short version the smaller the pixel the worse the quality as the smaller the pixel the less acurate it is when capturing light. on top of that thinner phones = smaller lens/sensor=pixels is even worse quality. if you want good photos buy a camera every good 90 euro camera beats ANY hpone on the market. 4. verry specific and not usefull at all what battery problems i dont have any if it drains to fast read the previous 40 pages all tips and tricks are there. 5,6,7,8,9,10,11 troll troll troll return the phone buy a iphone or samsung and go troll there forums on how small and ugly the screens are and how slow and limited there roms are. seriously how can ANYONE even take your post serious.

forgot to add im a little disapointed in the nexus 5 specs en design. its quite a fat border on top and bottom and they could have easely fitted buttons in it and keep their fingers off my screen space. having onscreen buttons is something i really hate specialy when there clearly was rom for normal buttons. its just a waste of screen space. and iphones i never advise simply because they are overprised no matter how good or bad they are. however if you care about camera the sony might be better simply because sony atm has the better phone cameras. then again if you really care about photos take a small point and shoot with you for 150 bucks and it will ALWAYS make better pictures. dont buy into the megapixel race everything more then 8 MP isnt better its just different.

this highly depends on your use. personaly the NR1 on my wishlist is clearly the G2 the battery life is simply amazing even with its insanely powerfull soc. so when you downclock this baby 10 hours screen on time could be achiefable. i know from reviews it can do 5 days standby with light use like half an hour whatsapp a day which is just insane. and all reviews are untweaked phones. batterywise there simply is no better phone on the moment but it comes at a price its really expencive.

the S3 is brighter but it deos NOT have the same ppi even tho samsung claims so. the S3's amoled screen had less pixels as it doesnt have 3 sub pixels per pixel and therefore is less sharp. ontop of the lack of sharpness compared to the IPS screen of the 4x hd the samsungs amoled screen also is less colour accurate because of the lack of sub pixels in each pixel. so screenwise the 4x hd defo is the better choice as its simply sharper and way more colour accurate. look at this comparison and you will see every pixel on the S3 lacks 1 colour making it impossible to correctly display colours:

battery life is slightly better (30 minutes use time) howevrr without rooting you can disable 2 cores on the 4x HD which gives you a aditional 30 to 45 minutes screen on time so it puts them on the same level. and seeing noone uses cpu heavy tasks on phones anyway i think disabling the 2 cores is a must anyway. the GPU handles most the heavy tashs in apps and games these dats (since 4.0) and disabling the 2 cpu cores doesnt affect gpu preformance. only thing that might be better is gaming time as the gpu isnt as fast and doesnt eat as much power. on the other hand it has a fixed battery where the 4x hd has a removable battery. the optimus g also has 2gb ram but i dont think that will matter anytime soon anyway. so they are pretty much the same battery wise and the biggest difference is the price.

its all bullcrap. i went to bed with the battery on 25% and i just woke up with the battery on 25%. all it takes is good battery management. i rooted it but without rooting you can make it so that it only loses max 3% overnight. with root you can pretty much completely prevent battery drains all together by installing rootappdelete to disable apps and greenify to freeze apps when the screen goed off.

whenever you re not using the phone just hold the home button and all running programs will appear with a picture swipe the pictures to the left or the right to close the programs this will bring the battery usage close to zero. do not play games on this phone, this phone is a serious beast. small games like candy crush are ok but dont play the game when you can not charge it. do not play games while charging, let the battery go down and the recharge it. turn the data off if u dont need it wifi is better. my battery lasts me a day with all this, i hope this helps

yep i understand i think with the big edges on the bottum that phones still have not having pshychacal buttongs but onscreen buttons is a unacceptable compromise and a waste of both screen space and waste of space on the bottum bar. you can find better phones then they LG 4X HD however you can not in this price range. so if your really willing to spend a fair bit more then the optimus pro other then that your gonna have to lean towards htc or samsung with there bloated roms which i quit looking at after the one x and the S3.

For those who buy this phone now and further from now, at 99% your phone will be already upgraded to Android 4.1.2 (I'm an italian customer) and about my experience (2 days of using) I can say this is the "best buy" phone and I'm really satisfied! Obviously there are best phones like Optimus G (359�) and Nexus 4 (329�), but if you wanna stay under 300� this is an optimal choice! The display is simply beautiful and the camera comes with HDR and "Panorama" features; Good and fluid interface and good performances with games (but I'm not an enthusiast gamer). I have a friend who has V20A who also has battery issues said just that he has to charge it 3 times a day. Also when making and receiving calls his screen goes black (not just the normal black while on face and the picture back). The predictive text space bar does not always work. When using predictive text it shows a word it thinks you want but when you go to choose another it jumps to a different word both this and the space bar problem are intermittent. I have V20c which is ok on battery, no black screens, but has annoying issue where when texting or using internet including facebook its as if it drops back to the home screen sometimes 3 times in a row. Also the speaker phone can distort making it not much use. The camera quality is so so. Can you change the firmware version to another one without damaging the phone assuming there is a stable and good version.

the main 2 issues with JB is that some games lag a lot more or get worse preformance and the other issue is that the screen doesnt come back on when calling. this last issue can easely be fixed by recalibrating the proximity sensor.

if you have made no changes to the os at all by disabling services or whatever and a factorey reset doesnt solve the issue send it in for a repair or even a exchange as you only just bought it. in some countrys they have to give you a new phone within the first 2 weeks as its a hidden failure. if thats true in your country you have tpo check your local laws.

I think, you can restore it to factory setting... so the phone software is just like new one. Hang phenomenon in your phone can be resulted by incompatible software or something (rooted and missing registey). I have the same problem when i was update my phone from ics to jb, it was hang and laggy all over. Battery life is decent, but i can still use it for almost 3:45 hours. Please check your battery condition maybe you have some defect in battery or battery is not calibrated yet, your 3g signal is very poor. So your battery drain quickly or you are typical of heavy multitasking user while browsing in phone. i have used lg optimus 4x hd for almost 1 year in indonesia till now. I love this phone.

In my opinion, optimus 4x hd is better... you can up size the memory using external memory, and also you get full size 4.7 inch display without any annoying on screen soft button... this phone has good enough todays hardware and specs. Tegra 3 isnt bad at all... it still can boost up the performance resulting good and fluid interface and application runner. In other hand, if you have considered about the hardware and processor, nexus 4 is better than 4x ( snadragon s4 vs tegra 3). Battery life is good. And most importantly, softwrae update is guaranteed by google. If you dont care about late of sofware update and inferior processor and gpu, go for optinus 4x hd. the s4 is a worldwide release the 4x hd isnt it could be that its a imported phone and thus has wrong region software and therefore cant fix on gps correctly and this can only be fixed by changing that piece of software. this isnt a hardware failure nore a software issue its just not supported as its not ment for the region its imported to.

Ok, I decided to send it to service. The GPS is total crap. I don't want to root the phone to get GPS working, I want it to work. Tested side by side with Samsung S4, the S4 worked fine, mine lost signal. Tested with another LG L5 II. L5 worked, mine didn't lock at all. And if S4 is a lot more expensive, the L5 is way cheaper. In the end, I don't care how cheap it is, or how good it is on paper. If it doesn't work it's crap. Sorry!

explain starts blocking. do you see blocks in the video or something else. if you see blocks its most likely a codec issue on your pc. as for video quality the quality is descent but dont expect miracles its a phone with video functions not a video camera.

root wont allow you to flash firmware you will have to update firmware to a eu open rom and unlock the bootloader. then you can flash roms. and lg has never made the statement they will or will not release 4.2.2 but in all honesty there is no point to even install 4.1 so why would we want 4.2.2 that uses even more ram for useless features ?

hi have you rooterd the phone if yet do the root process again. you can also try a factory reset to see if this fixes the lags. rooting is a known couse for cousing a phone to lag. i personaly advice to always do a backup and a factory reset before rooting or changing firmware. if the problem stays try to reflash the firmware.

30 min calling shouldnt take more then 5% battery. 1 hour browsing with brightness on 20 to 25% (indoors) should be about 30 to 35% battery life lost depending on the contend. video streaming uses loads more battery. gaming is really hard to say. i can use over 5 hours of battery if i justplay wordfeud but most other games arent optimized as well so they drain battery like a madman. 2g games in general use less then 3d games. but with optimized games 1 hour of gaming is not impossible at all. i can play about 2 hours of 8 ball pool on my device so lets assume 1 hour is 55% to me save. thats 55% + 5% + 35% leaves a few % for normal 3g drains. this does require disabling sync and no automatic mail fetching on the phone and no google paps and google+ enabled. also facebook al is quite a drain so that would eat into gaming time or browse time. but you can disable 2 cores without rooting to get more out of your battery. so in theory this is verry possible however in reality you need to monitor your phone and make sure you understand it before you will achief this. but no other phone will be different modern phones are fast and smooth but extremely power hungry. specialy under load.

i did a quick search and i cannot find any egypt roms so either its a gray import phone or they use a rom from a different region for it. if you still have the box please check the back of the box theres 2 bar codes under the barcode there is a 3 letter code in capital letters. that is the region code of the phone so you need that to look for the correct roms for your phone and to find out where its from origionaly.

rollback guide : i cant offer support with this as its not something i have done nore something i will do as i smartly refuse to install 4.1.2 to begin with :) and no not all roms are the same but the differences are small. do use a rom from your region or better country tho as things like gps might not work optimally if you use a different from ment for the other side of the world. also try to get v10h or if you cant v10f.

why do you need 4.1 4.2 or 4.3 anyway what do they offer extra other then massive memory drains and useless features like multiple users? name me something that makes it worth upgrading from a verry fast and stable 4.03 v10h to anything higher. i have my phone on 2 cores disabled and the remaining 2 cores on 66% power (1000 mhz max)and the phone is smooth and is feeling just as fast. and i have 550 mb ram free 4.1 , 4.2 , 4.3 arent making my phone better they only make it worse. dont be update obsessed they offer nothing anyway. and noone knows if lg will release aother update and noone knows why they should.

About camera i would like to tell u am an initial user of canon AE 1. All with manual settings. I have tried every thing to have atleast acceptable results but all in vain. Display i always prefer to mat. Disp. in Pc. I compared three sets to know the difference , Sony xperia Arc S, Alcatel ot idol 6030D & this 4x hd and compared only Displays , Ram, Cameras and battery consumption than i make an opinion. Oh my God! I have spoil my 270 euro. Very low quality camera white balance is poor not only poor but extremely poor . Screen is yellowish dim low quality . Ram is always on 730-780 consuming battery within few hours even if not in use. I did not find any feature to admire any thing to say something in favour of this set. you need to attatch it to the pc if you want to update it to 4.1 if you knew that already and its still not finding the 4.1 update please google the lg 4x hd on XDA and theres a guide on how to manualy flash the firmware. you can also find info on rooting it in 4.1 or rooting itin 4.0 and keeping the root while updating to 4.1.

specify your phone settings like display brightness 3g or wifi only. is gps/bluetooth/syncing disabled or enabled? do you game or browse or just use whatsapp? is maps on or off and whats the screen on time at the end of a charge? and post a screeny of the battery usage by making a widged of the settings> battery and press on the graph and then make a screenshot. with that information i can quate easely see if your battery life is ok or of something is wrong with your battery/phone.

im on 450 top 570 mb FREE ram on android 4.03 4.1 is crap for ram and it preloads a lot more so it sometimes even shows 250 mb free ram only. but thats because stuff is preloaded its not bad as soon as you need it it will clear ram.

wel in that case i agree partly. you can somewhat improve the phone by rooting but the satatement that custom roms are the holy grail is often just wrong. they often lach the functionality if the stock rom because not all drivers are as good as those in the stock rom. i have yet to see flawless 3rd party roms. even cygenomod 10.1 seemed to have some bugs still that the stock rom didnt suffer from. ofcourse its a balance you make as sometimes the functions arent used by everyone so for those not using it its not a issue at all.

Pino, as I said before, rooting is just a start to getting this phone way better! If you want to have real advantage over stock phone, getting a custom rom is a thing to do! 4.2.2 is great and work like a charm on O4x! Not to mention all the bloatware I don't have to deal any more.

what are your reasons to root? do you just want to root for the sake of rooting or do you have any specific problems that rooting can fix? as for updating to JB just dont to many people have problems with it if your on v10f/h stay on that there is no reason to upgrade and currently JB is a downgrade. af for a rooting guide i followed this one and it was done in 10 min : frankly the only advantage is being ableto disable stuff that you cant disable without root but this doesnt seem to make the phone any better clear any ram or whatever :)

Rooting is enough for lot of stuff, but unlocking the bootloader is whole new level! I suggest you to upgrade your phone to official JB via pc... After that you can root it with method in my last post. I don't think it works with ICS.

You lose nothing with Rooting. You gain a lot more. There are tons of apps that require root for example. As someone said before, unlocking the bootloader is a MUST if you want to give your phone a bit of fresh air. I did it and never regret it. I am on CM10 now and believe me it is way better than any stock rom. And I don't care what the benchmark say, it is simply smoother

This is easiest way to root o4x. Assuming you're on JB, of course. Follow the steps and you can't go wrong. I did it this way. After rooting, you should unlock bootloader if you want to flash custom roms and play with phone. But, first things first. :) And don't worry, you have to be a master to do something wrong when rooting. :) So, go for it!

im not sure if you can do it by cable but this phone can broadcast your 3g internet over wifi and connect your laptop to that wifi network. so in short your phone works as 3g router.

Hi man! I suggest you to do what I did! On CM 10.1 phone runs smooth and batt backup is same as on original rom. And it looks much better. Antutu bench is 13091, which is lower than original, but I don't see any lags (I don't play games). With unlocked bootloader you can install any custom rom and see what suits you most. Customization options are endless. It's great phone and now that my horizons gone wider it's even better! :)

as silly as this might sound i advice you to play a game for 30 minutes and try to recreate this issue. if it happens again and again bring it back as you might be one of the unlucky ones that has a broken sample. the heating should never make the phone crash but some apps will i had one today... so if it happens again download another game and try again. shadowgun is a good game to try and heat it up but beware its 180 mb so dont use 3g and if you have limited data on your regular internet just try another smaller game like hungry shark (9.5 mb). so first try to make it crash with the same app you where using earlyer whe it crashed if it crashes with that reboot again and try it with other apps. if it keeps crashing its a warranty case.

wel so far so good the one remaning battery drain seems to be gone so far (phone active while screen off). and i think its either the backup app or the software updater that keeps the phone active. another thing could be cell broadcast that i disabled completly and removed from bootup. just finihsed the first cycle of the battery with no unexpected drains at all i even tossed in a few reboots as this normaly seemed to create the issue. illl keep you updated but it seems rooting is the way to make this phone perfect. the lg is a quad core with 16 gb rom and a 4.7 inch screen meaning it uses a little more power and drains the battery a little faster. the sony has a smaller screen and a dual core and 8gb less rom space then the lg and a slightly better camera. it also has slightly better battery preformance but this comes at the cost of phone preformance so little slower browsing and starting of games. and its a bit more expencive (95 euro here) so less specs and a little more battery life and slightly better camera at the cost of a higher price faster cpu/gpu and 8gb ram and a smaller screen. however the smapper 1750 mah vs the g's 2150 mah battery compensates a lot for this phone being more energy efficient. the lumia 820 is a total different story it is slightly more expencive then the LG but suffers from seriously outdated specs and doesnt even fight in the same competition. it had 800x480 pixels screen which is low for 4.3 inch screen size these days. it also has 8gb less rom then the lg and alsohad the smallest battery of the 3 with only 1650 mah. im not discussing android vs windows mobile as thats everyone to his own. so spec wise the lg still is price/spec champion but the sony has a slightly different camera and the luia had a non android os (the rest in the lumia simply is worse for its higher price. hope that helps you otherwise i tried my best hehe. good luck choosing.

Ye i have played a lot with the volume settings.The problem come and goes.The speaker itself seems to be working because otherwise it wouldnt work at all. sorry i cannot help you with in ear headphones as i cant use them myself as they hurt my ears with certain sounds. but im sure theres a lot of good comparisons on the net easely found with a google search. if you dont mind looking like a fool and really want good quality a big headphone with cups over the ear will always be a lot better as bigger speakers is more movement of the speaker and better sound because of it. most tiny headphones are limited in the ovement of the speaker cone limiting the output range reducing sound quality.

If your answer was refering to my problem, then yes, the APN settings are correct, received automatically from operator (Vodafone). In fact, the internet connection wouldn't work if settings were incorrect, but it does. Yesterday I tested GPS again. i assume you ment not the gallery but homescreen. sadly the homescreen is locked in portrait mode as are most phones because of the button bar on the bottum. if you ment the app gallery/drawer sadly this one is locked in portrait mode also. not sure if this is the same in jelly bean as i wont ever update to it unless someone gives me a second phone haha. sorry to disapoint you hehe i never even looked at it but thats just my preference :P

most likely its xperia sl > xperia TX > lg 4x hd. this because the SL has a small screen (4.3 inch) this uses less leds to light up and a old dual core soc. which is a lot slower but energy efficient. the TX has a 4.55 inch screen which is still smaller and also a older dual core soc. the lg has a quad core soc which is more power biggest screen but this goes at the cost of battery. you cant fairly compare these devices because they are in a different range of phones. the sony phones are more budged the lg was last years high end phone. sony is just expencive thats why they seem higher end.

if you have wifi it should ALWAYS use wifi first. so if you enable both wifi and 3g data it should always use wifi as the wifi priority is higher then 3r priority. however if you have a poor wifi signal and strong 3g signal and have the settings checked to avoid bad wifi connections it might be that its using 3g rather then wifi. so in wifi settings check that you have that disabled. so wifi > menu > advanced > uncheck the checkbox at the second option. and when your there also set wifi to stay on in sleep otherwise it switches to 3g as soon as the screen goes off.

sorry to burst your bubble but the snapdragon 800 uses even more power then the tegra 3 when all gpu cores and the 4 cores are active. if you want preformance power usage is gonna be your compromise period there is NOTHING you can do about this. the new generation cores including snapdragon 600/800 and tegra 4 are all even more power hungry then the current quad cores this is a fact and not only are they more power hungry by default they also run up to and over 2GHZ cousing them to use even more. if you have poor apps that cant utilize the cpu partly this will dain your battery in record time. so dont think you got a bad deal with the tegra 3 as even tho thenew soc's are all 28NM they use quite a bit more juice then current soc's. this is why they all have massive batterys over 3000 mah and still preform average on normal use tests (gaming will be fatal for them). if you want battery life go for a phone with a older soc possibly a dual core and downclock it or disable some cores (gpu cores also). if yout not battery life isnt gonna improve its gonna get worse. remember these are phones with the capability of making pictures browsing and playing games. its not there main task and if you do your gonna have to compromise somewhere.

Overall it's a decent phone cheaper than some of the other rival phones so if you are on a tight budget I would recommend this, but personally I am going to upgrade sometime between September and November from this to the Sony Xperia Z Ultra should be quite an amazing experience with a full hd 6.44" display and snapdragon 800 chip inside.

This tegra 3 chip is shocking, while it's great for gaming, power efficiency is so poor, as an example I was playing a game while the phone was recharging and to my horror, within 10 minutes the phone shut down, realised that even though the battery was supposed to be recharging it was actually losing charge which is very poor indeed, just imagine what the tegra 4 would do which is why my next phone is going to have the splendid snapdragon 800 chip, should be alot better.

theres a couple of questions that need answering just to be sure. - do you have a google account and is it attatched to your phone (can test if this works properly by running google talk/hangouts) -if the answer to the previous is yes and it works in talk/hangouts did you sync the account? (options>accounts and syn. > gmail adress tap everything when its set to manual). - do you have a firewall active in your phone or the network where you try to download ? if so disable it and see if this fixes the problem. - did you try clearing the google play store cache file? (options > apps > google play store > erase data and cache > reboot the phone and try again. do the same with download manager/management. other then that i cant think of anything thats causing a problem. good luck trying these things.

NO root has nothing to do with custom roms. to install custom roms you need to manualy flash a EU open rom then unlock your phone and then flash the custom rom. google: lg 4x hd xda all the info you need is there.

The first caller id issue seems to be brought up on rare ocations on the net but by people with all different phones so this is most likely not a issue with your phone but ith a app on your phone or a bug in the fsoftware. the only possible way to try and see if this is true is making a backup with the build in backup app (make a seperate backup of your contacts) and do a factory reset. after the reset restore your contacts and have people call you to test it. if you have any alle that has anything to do with contacts get rid of it and test before the factory reset. second sounds unlikely to be a hardware issue seeing your not holding it so once more im lokking at a app that might be responsible for this. ad for battery life this most definitly is a app issue and have bin talked about a lot here. start with removing all battery monitors wakelock monotors and taks killers/managers you installed. then disable mapps, google streetview and google+ and delete facebook app if you have in installed. its a bad app i tested it again after months 1 day ago and lost 30% of my battery to it so deleted it again. also disable sync in options (you only need to sync after you make changes to your phone like adding contacts in whatsapp or caller contacts and you can do this manualy by clocking on it in that list. make sure your bluetooth and gps are off and make sure location services are disabled (if not apps may be allowed to enable gps shortly to see your location). disable 3g when you have wifi and disable wifi when you go outdoors and dont have wifi. with all that disabled you should se a significant improvement in battery life. manual management of the phone is a hassle at first and you will make mistakes and curse because you have no internet at times (because you forgot to turn it on) but the benefits are greater then the hassle. if you could post some stats (screen on time + total time active without gaming) per full charge we can tell you if this is in the normal range. good luck in solving your problems.

hi i prefer quadgearbox it just disables the 2 cores and leaves the other 2 running on 1.5ghz. this keeps everything smooth and stil you have a gain in batterylife. the problem from not being able to turn the 2 cores back on lies within some android apps but is easy to get arruond. the problem excists because some apps keep the cores awake for to long this means as the cores are actrive you cannot swotch the other 2 cores on as a ap is active. if you really want or need to (which i cant immagine) turn the 2 cores back on just reboot and disable all apps trou application manager> active apps and turn on the 2 cores. or just tap the turn back on button a few times it will turn back on ive done it many times to test. the only disadvantage is you cannot downclock the cores but in my opinion downclocking is bad. the higher mhz the cores run themore power they consume and to my knowledge the power preformance ration isnt linear. this means that if at 500 mhz the core uses 1 watt on 1500 mhz the core doesnt use 3 watts but more like 3.5 watts (dont know the exact numberts its a example). this makes having 2 cores active the wiser choice because you can run 2 cores @750mhz for the same task and use less power. unless you ofcourse underclock a LOT like a 800 mhz cap on both cores then its usefull but im not sure the phone stays smooth then.

First, sometimes when someone calls me even though their names are already saved in my contacts, names don't show up! And you can see just the number. But when I look the call logs(history)I can see their names. I just look at it without any single touch. I've got the same battery problem. I'm considering install app to manage the core. LGGearBox or quadgearbox, which one is better. I found someone saying they can't get other cores back when disabled, and others talking about even factory reset the core speed wouldn't return to normal. will these damage the cpu? or brick the phone? 2/3% per minute is absurd i get 4 hours use time out of my phone which means no more then 0.41 % per minute and i mostly use it for whatsapp or browsing. i do have 2 cores dusabled but that only gave me 45 minutes extra at best. you can download the app to disable 2 cores here : youl barely notice a difference in preformance. but the main thing to do is manage your phone dont be lazy. -manualy close apps before going to bed (slide them away and close them under applications) -slide apps and close them when you dont use them for extended time. -if you use apps in the morningto drive to work or whatever when you arrive take the time to disable it in apps again maps is a BAD app only activate when needed but best is to download a alternative like synergic. -dont download apps with adds go for alternatives or the paid versions, apps with adds download net adds all the time if they run in the background which nog only uses your 3g limit but also soaks energy. -dont wait for the screen to time out press the button if you put it away. -get rid of the stock browser and use chrome (do NOT update to the latest version of 22 may tho its bugged for tegra3 devices google messed up. -get rid of the facebook app and make aa shortcut on your desktop the facebook app drains battery you wont get notifications but the battery gain can be great. -if you have cache cleaners get rid of them cache prevents you from having to reload data and recalculate it which saves not only 3g data but also cpu time which = battery life. -get rid of task killers they are useless and evil they kill apps that android boots up automaticly again anyway which results in used battery life for loading the app used battery life for killing the app and this goes on in a circle. -dont use battery/wakelock analizers permanently they are evil battery drainers as they monitor the battery constantly the apps constantly uses resources. -get rid of apps that stay active in the background if they dont need to (mostly games). -if you dont care about goole+ disable it its a battery drainer. if you do all this and do it correctly you will greatly extend the battery life but as said it comes with compromises. if you want to use some of these apps realize it costs battery life. the final solution is buy a mobile battery pack if you but a 10.000 mah pac you can charge your battery 4 times a day from the pack giving you even in worst case scenarios 8 / 10 hours use time.

15-20% in 10 min is IMPOSSIBLE period. the tegra 3 design is just fine its just a fact that quad cores eat a lot of power tey are afterall quad cores they should use 4x more then a single core. but you get preformance in return. chats the choice you made when buying this phone if you need superious battery life buy a old xperia arc 1ghz single core they last quite a bit longer but they will lag and stutter all over the place and cant handle the pretty HD screen smoothly. everything comes with compromises power usage is the compromise of current qquad cores and this is unlikely to change anytime soon ad the new a15 cores only suck up more and more power at higher mhz. but if you use 15 or even 20% in 10 minutes id do a hard reset and get rid of some crap as something is wrong. even when gaming 2 hours should be possible which means no more then 8.3% drain per 10 min.

i think the Nvidia Tegra 3 is so badly designed. i disable the some preloaded apps. when screen off, the cpu switch to the fifth core, battery usually 0.5-1% per hour. however when running some app even surfing the internet when screen set to 20% brightness, sys monitor show tegra fired 4 cores up and eat battery like hell. 10mins 15-20% battery is gone. my note 2 with bigger screen, and set @ 50% brightness, surfing net. 10mins usually less then 5% battery is consumed. sys monitor shows only 1 or 2 core is used.

I think I might know what causes the issue, not really how to fix, but a workaround. Your phone might be thinking the Memory Card is being removed. Try adding the mp3 you want to the ringtone folder in the phone memory. should work, I removed the MC to try to update the phone (had a problem while trying to update, but, gonna try again later, as soon as I'm answered at XDA if I have to do factory resets or not), when I turned it on again, my BF\s ringtone was saved due to being stored on thehpone, but my general ringtone returned to LG original, even if the MC was back on the phone.

I've gone back to ICS. My problems with the JB update were: .Really bad battery duration. .phone slow as hell. .erratic in some functions such as lock/unlock screen. .it overheats even more (just by having the screen on). .more RAM consumption. (it's funny cause I also have a note 2 with JB and it consumes less ram than this phone with the same JB, and believe me the note 2 has a lot of functions) I experienced all of this only with stock apps installed.

the battery life will stay about the same so for that its no point updating. the camera will be better in v20 then it is in v10E (only v10F en v10H are the good ones camera wise) however JB does have some other buggs that are furstrating and it can preform a little slower some of the time but if your ok with that and thnk camera is more important go for it. if your a bit more advanced and are willing to take the risk you could install a v10H from europe or another country that has it. this is how : i cant link you the roms so you will have to find those yourself.

I don't have any help for you but YES I have the exact same thing with the ringtones, drives me insane - but if I change it to another LG system ringtone, that saves when I restart it. But if I change to anything of my own, when I restart it goes back to the last LG ringtone I used. Also, it randomly like...restarts without turning itself off, which might be what your phone is doing when it says it has no signal. Mine does that but I've watched it do it while I've been physically using it, all of a sudden the signal goes, and when it comes back the SD card starts loading again... Now it's starting to do it at really inconvenient times - usually when someone is calling me. My last LG (prada) did the exact same things - I'm now looking for a new phone and although I really really love the design of the LGs I can't risk another handset behaving the same way :(

as hell said the audio is descent after all its a phone not a sterio installation phones wil NEVER bring the quality is a proper radio setup nore cover the entire low to high tone range. and as hell also said there is no notification led but i use Missed message Flasher and i LOVE it. you can set a sound for notifications and set the delay after which you get a reminder sound that you missed a message. it works on every app i tried so far (gtalk whatsapp mail sms calls and the list goes on and on and on) sadly it isnt free but its well worth the money. you can also set vibrate reminders for when your in meetings and even add custom vibrates. and you can also use your main screen and a notification led. or ofcourse any of the combiations you can think of from those 3 or all of them at the same time. i use just the sound it is doenst even use 5% for a 12 hour day playing the reminding sound every 5 minutes for the first hour and 10 minutes after that so its verry battery efficient. most likely more so then the touch leds which are quite bright and therefore soak up battery.

40 degrees is nothing to worry about the cores can easely handle 60 degrees and most likely a lot more. desktop gpu's and cpu's have a max temp over 90 degrees so as long as it doesnt go up to much i wouldnt worry and enjoy the phone:) in the winter it might even be a feature to keep your hands warm :)

for the money there simply is no phone with better specs. the screen is awesome thats just a fact and for the camera i really dont have any issues on v10h so anyone having issues might have a bad sample or they demand to much out of a simple camera. the reality is this camera works fine it even outofocusses while aiming the camera and f it doesnt focus on the thing i want in focus just click the item onscreen and it focusses on the right object. thats just how mobile cameras work and its good enough for me for things i need better pics of i take my point and shot or even my DSLR as they are intended for pictures. phones remains a phone that you can take photos with. if a camera sensor if 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.5 cm could replace a DSLR canon and nikkon would be either making phones or go bankrubt :) go to the store try it and enjoy it :)

the sensation xe has verry low specs compared to the 4x hd. it has only 4gb storage only 768 ram 4.3 inch instead of 4.7 it has a lower resolution screen it has a dual core. so its not even in the same spec range its a outdated phone so unless that specs are enough for you and its way cheaper (atleast 75 to 100 bucks) if do got the lg as its simply way better.

On the time problem, if you go to about phone,software version in settings. My 4x - P88020b-466-92. The 466-92 refer to country and region as in APN settings mcc-466 ,mnc-92. I think lg locks time zone into firmware if so only another fw version would work? I will just live with it. As piano and others have said many times here,bad apps often cause battery lose. Most apps require location that in turn starts Google maps After removing most all my downloaded apps and closing maps ect. my battery last much longer. I add new apps slowly and carefully.

here the lg is 80 euro cheaper and has 8gb more storage build in for apps. it also has a quad core vs a dual core but thats not really interesting i think. they are pretty simmilar apart from the price looks/layout , the 0.1 inch screen sice difference and storage. personaly id prefer the LG simply because i find the button layout of the mew sony models a bit stupid. noone wants the buttons in the middle side of the phone as thats where your hand palm is or your fingers are so you press it all the time... but they are both good phones buy what you like.

You gotta get rid of the LG apps and google apps you aren't using. Be weary of new apps because a video vault app drained my battery big time whether it was on or not. First night I had my phone airplane mode overnight it dropped 60%. removed the crap, won't decrease at all overnight on standby. Shizzam!

Anyone having problems with a p880 purchased online made in hong kong with the time zone setting to Tapei you need to do some extensive work! Basically have to flash a united kingdom / open european JB or ICS firmware. I don't know what it is but the one I got made in korea came preloaded with chinese lettered apps, and a lot of things were screwed up on it. Trying a euro firmware should fix some issues...Taking battery out won't do a thing dont bother lol.

as iannnn said it doesnt have 4g however if you can wait 6/8 weeks you might be interested in waiting for the F7 which had about the same specs from what was released earlyer this year but 2gb ram and 4g support and longer battery life as its not a tegra 3 phone. if you want a tegra 3 for gaming then ofcouse its not a option but i think theres no 4g tegra 3 phones anyway.

if your experiencing slow charging. check first if your temp is normal. charging after gaming for a long time heats up and will activate slow charging to prevent damage to the battery due to excesive heat. but if your just idle and not doing anything, try this: -go to settings then usb connection type -select charge only -then plug wall charger, if slow charging icon appear clear the status -remove charger -select Media Sync (MTP) -Plug charger it will now charge fast. This is a work around i tried safely without changing in the service mode. note: it will slow charge after using your cell browsing using wifi or playing games for 15mins or more. heat = slow charging will activate.

the prompted update on the computer will update your phone to v20 which is jelly bean. theres a way to update your phone manualy by downloading the correct firmwate (v10h) and faking the LG server from the pc firmware update tool but im not sure if you feel comfortable with it or if its completely safe. google ''lg 4x hd xda'' and you will get to the rigth forum on xda and you should find the firmware update guides there.

As far as time setting, check software version vie,settings,about phone,software version. My 4x is P88020b-466-92. The 20b is jb. 466-92 are country and region as found in APN settings mmc-466, mnc-92. These are for Taiwan. I think that whatever sw version you have the 466-92 locks you into Taiwan time by default. Thanks piano for info on app to control cores. I checked it out,but don't think I will try it. I may not need 4cores but if I can keep phone from battery drain over night, I get 2-3days on a charge. (if it is not broke don't fix it) my 4x surprises me every day!great phone!

Regarding receiving a call apparently solving the change in sound profile, looks like it might be the cause... As it was changing from Vibrate to Sound when making calls, I set to Vibrate and called me from my other phone. it didn't change to Sound. As I was leaving Class, changed back to Sound mannually. When tried to make a call, it turned to Vibrate. To try to at least mantain it on Sound, I put it on Sound and called from the other phone again. now, when I make calls it stays on (or goes back to) Sound. any ideas? Anyone else?

Is this reversible (I know we can downgrade the OS, not sure the Firmware) (I read somewhere that WI-fi only updated something and the OS would have to be through pc connection [or the opposite], don't wanna do something wrong and end up with JB) 2: After some time being on (I avoid turning the phone off to charge or when not in prolonged due to the first issue), whenever I make a call it automatically changes my Sound profile (Sometimes to Vibrate, sometimes to Sound, never seem it turn into Silent), I can put it manually back to my necessary profile (apparently it decided that when in class I need it to be changing for Sound and while at home, changing to Vibrate), but whenever a new call is made, it changes again. I can solve this by turning the phone off/on, but it's a pain... Tried to search, didn't find anything similar. I don't use those NFC cards. The profile doesn't change when receiving calls, only when making them. (and this looks like solved the issue for now!) 3. For some reason, the option to turn off backgroud syncing disappeared from "Account and Sync", even though there's mention to it in "Power saver Tips". Where might it have gone? not seeing the point of your message if you want 3g video calls install a video calling app. its technicly impossible to add a app from lg that supports video calling while also being compatible with other brands. just use something like skype, oovoo or the many other options. they are cross platform a lg app would not be.

yes. to upgrade to JB you need to attatch it to the pc so as long as you update OTA (over wifi) you will only get to the latest version of ICS.

yep sadly people are brand obsessed. i personaly think that LG is the only remaining company that understands display quality. Samsung, sony, toshiba, philips, HTC all dont seem to understand realism but prefer oversaturation and to high a contrast which to a perfectionist is just ugly. on top of that this phone is just dirt cheap. its 284 euro here where the one x 32 gb is over 120 euro more! and the S3 is 102 euro more and there is nothing they can do that the LG cant do.

disable maps, google+ ,streetview, sync and so on. everything you dont need directly or the phone does not need to function should be disabled. if you use maps to drive sometimes enable it when you need it and disable it after as its a battery drain. for more info on JB go here: i dont use JB and prolly wont so cant really help you with JB specifics. i refuse to promote JB untill someone donates me a phone so i can see its better or worse untill then 4.03 ftw.

try that app if your not already. it disables 2 cores giving you up to 1 hour an 15 minutes extra battery time and the phone remains smooth as it doesnt touch the gpu cores only cpu cores.

Sadly, I have to admit they were free apps. Puzzles games for when you are sitting all day in a hospital waiting room as I was today. I agree completely with Piano and Bobby. Most people are responsible themselves for today's phones problems. Yet they are so quick to badmouth the phone . My 4x is my 5th smartphone and the best. Came from Nokia. no theres lots of people calling out problems thats not really a problem. most problems are created by the use because they install crappy apps or disable stuff that shouldnt be disabled. there is no hardware issue with this phone and every feature works as intended (atleast on 4.03 i have not updated and will nog because there is no need on v10h). the only problem i have with this phone is that the screen seems to shrink haha. at first you think WOW its massive but you get used to it so fast you want bigger and bigger :P the video and foto focus issue never was a issue as you could simply download 1 of many camera apps and they would work fine. but its since bin fixed on the build in also. the camera sounding like there is something lose in it isnt a hardware foult its the actualy lens that should be moving to focus and its only noticible if you knock the phone which is a stupid thing to do anyway :) and every other problem there is had a cause or reason that is explainable and not the phones fault :) everyone talking this phone down doesnt own it havent handled it or owns a galaxy s3 or onex and are upset they payed 100 to 300 bucks more for a phone with the same capabilities but a worse screen. if your unsure go to the store reboot it and try it out its smooth (no jellybean needed) its stable apart from some launcher redraws but that takes less then a second and isnt a bad thing per se (clears some ram) and it has more free ram then the competition which means less is preloaded resulting in less cpu cycles needed for actions which in turn is better for the battery. the only reaso i want other phones is because i want a bigger screen otherwise im more then happy with my 4x hd :) and everyone wants better batterytime but in reality the only way to get that is getting a smaller screen and going back to 800 mhz single core. fast soc's = huge power drain its a fact of life. just put a powerpack in your backpack or jacker and you have a portable 20.000mah or even 50.000mah battery with you to charge on the go. i bought a 20.000 mah version vor 12 euro which should give me over 30 hours screen on time (wanted it for when i go carp fishing :P)

i have it ocationaly at random but i know this occurs more often when you click it twice fast. this seems to turn the screen off before its even on and causes a issue with clicking the 3rd time (adds a delay). overall its not a biggy. i did notice that after a 16 day no reboot of the phone the phone became sluggish inclusing a slowdown in screen activation and a rebot fixes it obviously. so if you never reboot your phone your wise to sometimes reboot it just because it keep the phone up to speed.

You will always get people asking about things there phone has done or not done some are phone problems and some are app problems. Also unfortunately most people slagging off a device usually don't own one and probably have never even seen one . some apps seem to leave some files behind if these files are data like use stats or actual active files that change someting in the phone is hard to say. youd thing it wont leave any active files on the phone but if it does i think they should ban the app from the play store. sadly this is near impossible to test without doing a lot of hard resets of the phone.

was it paid apps or apps with adds? apps with adds should simply be avoided because the adds drain battery as they constantly loads new adds. also free adds often are bad apps specialy if they do not have a paid version. if your rooted you could look for an app that blocks acces to some features in your phone like the internet if they dont need it. i use a cheapass tablet to test apps if they cause issues like battery drain or preventing deep sleep. if they run without issue on the tablet only then i install them on my phone :)

Hello everyone. I had a strange problem develop with my 4x. I would normally use 15-20% of battery through the day with the way I have it set up and my normal use. Overnight battery lose would be 2-3%. Then overnight lost became 20-25% with phone on standby. I usually check that all apps are closed,ect before bed. I checked everything I could think of but the problem continued. Through the day it was normal. What was different? All I could think of was I had downloaded several simple game apps. I uninstalled them and problem was solved. Battery lost is now back to 1-3% over night.

Sad news friends it turns out the "cold boot" gps lock can be sporatic still...after it locks on it can take 5-15 seconds to get another lock, but I'll keep editing the gps file see if I can get a good file for the 4x'ers. Someone asked step by step to edit gps.conf...Look it up there are a few tricky steps and you need root access.

There's no way to downgrade sw if you go for update. I updated mine and it's worth it! Everything looks bit better and if I could downgrade it, I wouldn't do it. List of changes you can find here on forum... After upgrade I suggest you to do a factory reset. That way phone will work nice and smooth. :)

How did you do this? I think the GPS might be causing my time zone to change to Taipei everytime the phone is turned on, either in automatic or manual time zone. theres no easy way as its not supported. and frankly i dont think updating is any good or better at all. just use v10h and youl be fine theres not much point in updating as theres not much interesting added. in my opinion update to 4.1 if you want custom roms otherwise theres no reason to.

it bugged me at first also. after a while i realised some numbers where from whatsapp some where on the phone and some where on the sim. i ended up syncing everything to sim and phone and then set it to phone display only and everything worked.

yes there is. it goes like this : 1.copy all contacts from your sim to your phone as its not possible from sim (the sim does not support storing ringtone data on it). to do this open your contacts open the menu and select import/export there cope all your sim contacts to your phone. 2.now to prevent double contacts in your contact list go to the contact app again if your no longer there and select display options (in the menu (right button) or whatever its called in english (its the option below import/export) and select phone. -now simply go to your contat list click on a contact and click the edit button on top (the white icon with the pen) and set your ringtone with either android system (this requires the purple music app to be enabled and your mp3 ringtones to be in the ringtones folder on your internal SD )or with a custom app like es file explorer to browse to the file and select it. some notes : -if you added pics to your contacts you might have to redo this.

I'm using this phone for half year now and it's nothing but trouble. Most problematic areas: - camera - bluetooth - calls When working on these fields, i never know when it will lockup, freeze, auto-restart,..., everytime it gets in slow motion (so much for 4 hi-speed cores). I called service, they say i can send them phone, but all they will do is master reset!? So problems are there to stay, if you intend to use it, but if you intend to just look at it and make an occasional call, then it can be accepted. I found out, that it helps, if i manualy restart it at least once a day, in this case, when fresh started, it works better for some time. One thing is certain, i'll never buy another lg.

To all my 4X HD friends that have GPS issues. You need to edit the gps.conf file and set the radio to STANDALONE...Lock times on Assisted GPS took up to 5 minutes, but on standalone it takes seconds! Mine came from korea and the gps conf had a bunch of european server information and I'm in the USA so I edited everything out except for north america. If battery drain is an issue you need to uninstall the bloatware on the device. Get rid of anything google or LG that you aren't using because I left my phone on airplane mode overnight and the battery dropped 60%! After getting rid of apps I don't need the battery doesn't drop in % at all overnight. All in all I'd say this phone kicks some serious A for $300. I hope LG will give a JB 2.2 update but for now I'm happy even though I had to do tweaking to get everything working nicely.

After few days working only on 2G networks, my phone calls are normal. No breaking the connection. I guess since the JB update, phone got too sensitive when switching from 3G to 2G duribg calls. No choice but to wait another update hoping it will fix things. Untill then, 2G + WiFi will do the work for me! :)

wel based on the info that is out so far 4.3 has nothing to offer but preformance improvements for people with a snapdragon 600/800 core which we dont have. it is so far looking like a verry minor update even more so then 4.2 game lag is the fault of game devs that are plain lazy this is not a problem with the lg 4.03 rom and the games that lag can be counted on 1 hand. video recording is fine for me so you must be doing something wrong. update your rom maby ? web browsing not smooth are you kidding me? its flawless and flash is crap thats not android fault blame adobe and there crap support. i use chrome and dont need flash at all. slow response to screen rotation is actualy a android feature to prevent it switching to fast. and its only half a second so if that really bugs you then you need to take a chipp pill. it is NOT battery hungry you just like many others fail to understand the limitations of a modern quad core smartphone. you can put on any rom in the world and it will NOT get more battery efficient because thats not possible. and and so on is uselesss so far you havent made a single point that stands. and yes i read you comment its just irellevant. the fact that a phone can run software doent meen it shoult or that its better. just enjoy 4.03 for what it is and if you dont buy another phone :)

There is a lot of potential to improve 4.0.3 ,here are some of basic ones(put the other aside): -4.0.3(mine is v10e) lags like hell in 3D games. -Video recording sucks in almost any situation (except outdoor with prefect daylight!) -Web browsing isn't smooth specially with pages with flash ads. -Slow response to screen rotations. -battery hungry And so on... yeah it seems more and more that key lime pie is not gonna be released the 15th :( 4.3 if the rumors are right will not be interesting and not offer anything usefull for the 4x hd or optimus g for that matter as all it gives is a new slightly more power efficient bluetooth and a new open gl that is only supported by the new high end smartphones with the snapdragon 600 and 800 chips. so it doesnt really add anything over 4.2.2 which in turn doesnt really add anything in comparison with 4.1.2 which will actualy get some updates still. not only because there are some bugs but because nvidia is gonna release a preformance patch/driver. ah well its unlocked and rootable why care about updates theres always custom roms now LG gave the source codes for the JB rom.

this depends a lot on when Google releases key lime pie. if they do release it the 15th its highly likely the 4x will get it if they release it the end of the year its more likely the 4x wont get it. bij as lg so far only released the optimus g and optimus g pro next to the 4x hd i think they will updateit as its still fairly high even and will he higher end still then the F5 and F5 that are planned to be released in june/juli. and even if LG chooses not to release it there will definitely be a key lime pie release for the 4x hd but you will need to unlock your phone and install a custom rom.

there really is no point to update to 4.2.2 it had nothing to offer and many are skipping it not just lg. they are better of prepping there phone rom department for 5.0 (key lime pie) and working on bugfixes for the phones that need it instead of releasing 4.2.2 that offers nothing usefull but costs time money and resources better spend elsewhere.

the ram use bugs me 2 but for different reasons. in reality you dont really notice a lot by android preloading all this crap in the memory. its just a slight battery drainof maby a % a charge but even tho its not really important they should fix it and get all this crap out of the memory. in a ideal world it should have a option to let you decide what you want to load in the ram which in my case would be limited to weather, whatsapp, chrome and maby gallery. the rest i barely use. ah well maby one day the rom makers will understand.

hmm you could do a factory reset but personaly i doubt this will help. id go back to the store as thats definitly not normal. its either a bad panel they placed or it needs calibrating but thats not possible tto do ourself as far as im aware. so return it once more :( yellow tints are not acceptable. a photo would be more helpfull to judge it but as i can only go from your comment id return it as its not something you can fix.

I am running v20b. After boot,free ram about 360 about a week later its about 270. However battery lasted 4 days with about 35% remaining when I connected the charger.You should know the 4x was used sparingly. This would not be the normal for most people.

So far since the discovery of the thermal disabling no one has any slightest negative resulting from it. In V20A thermal protection is overly aggressive. However in V20B HK/CN LG themselves increased the protection activation temperature so high that it will only kick in after several rounds of Real Racing 3. GLONASS use is proven in jellybean. I suggest everyone to clarify in the Q&A section of the forum. Developers are more than willing to help.

disabling thermal protection for charging is a dangerout thing to do and can kill your phone so really dont use it if you want to be safe. the thermal protection isnt there for no reason. and glonass support is still unconfirmed i believe. the sattelites are found (just like in ics) but its not sure if they are used as far as im aware. not that it matters noone needs them anyway.

theres lots of questions you need to andwer to yourself when you buy a phone. how long do i want to use my phone? -less then 1 year = buy a cheap one as technology goes fast and in 6 months a high end phone now becomes a midrange phone -less then 2 years = no worries -more then 2 years = look for a phone with replacable battery how often do i take pictures and make movies? -not often at all = 8gb rom with no sd is fine for you -few times a day = 8gb with sd or 16 gb without sd -all the time is 16gb with sd or 32+gb internal do i play games or am i a gamer (heavy games)? -i play simple games = no worries every phone with a 4.2inch+ screen can do that now -i want to play heavy games like shadowgun or need fr speed = buy a quad core because they have a better gpu but do realize gaming sucks batterys dry in 2 to 3 hours. do i prefer a brand? -no = look at designs specs and price/preformance and make your choice. -a little = why do you prefer specific brands and is your information stil accurate or is it outdated and should you start to consider other brands -yes = stick with your brand your to far gone for me to help you :P what are my demands regarding android updates? -i dont care as long as everything works and theres no bugs. -i like the big android updates but am not in a rush -i want them as soon as possible because im a hipster do i want to use custom roms or not? -no = no need for the phone of your choice to be bootloader unlocked (this is NOT the same as rooted) -yes = bootloader must be unlocked. am i a heavy medium or light user? -light = battery isnt a great deal as light use barely uses any juice. -medium user = make sure you get a good 2/3 hour active use a day out of your phone (screen on time) -heavy user = your shit out of luch modern day phones use battery like a junky snorts coke. one minute its there the other its gone. then theres a few basics that i think are wise to consider. if your a heavy or medium user but you do not game or do anything intensice other then chatting and browsing a LOT do but a dual core instead of a quad core. quad cores are cool and all that but they use abour 30 to 40% more juice which means shorter battery life. i have this quad core now and dont get me wrong i love it but a dual core would have bin better for me as i dont need the power i have in my hands now and who doesnt want 30% more battery life. so before you jump in and buy something go ask yourself all the questions you can ask yourself and write down what feature is the minimum for that and the most high end feature you desire like storage because you take a LOT of photos or a quad core because you want heavy gaming or a 5 inch screen for typing is gonna decide what range phone you want. high end range with small screen or a mid ragen dual core with a massive screen thers options enough sit down take the time and buy what you want to buy. theres no real bad phones just overprised phones and bargains.

strange maby you let it sleep to deep :P i cant think of anything that miht cause this because phones dont really have capacitators or anything i believe. after some googling i get even more confised because this also happens on some iphones and blackberrys which obviously dont run android. did you by any chance limit background apps in dev settings? it might be that starting the phone after a while might cause android to kill the launcher for some reason making it have to redraw and that takes a second. would you mind going to apps then middle tab and tell me what apps are currently active (where lg keyboard is) so i can check a theory i have. also if you have the weatjer app activated let me know if you have it on autosync or manual sync. anyway if you use the build in backup app you shouldnt lose any setting app contact or appdata.

its hard to nderstand your question but ill try anyway. if you meen that when you turn on the phone it doesnt see the sim (only emergency calls) either the sim is bad or not inserted correctly. be aware that nothing stops you from inserting the sim the wrong way with this phone so check and double check. also some networks take a while to connect. im on dutch KPN shite network and it takes my phone about 2 min to connect to the network for some reason.

install the lg drivers and pc suite on your pc attatch the phone and update trough that 4.1 will not show up on OTA updates (in the phone itself).

say your charger gives out 1200 mah which is the case with our factory charger. the cable has some resistance which makes the efficient charing speed be about 1000 to 1050 mah. now when you use the phone the phone has peaks of usage of 575 mah this means the phone is charging at that time with arround 500 mah (as the rest is directly used by the phone) and arround 500 mah is considered a slow charge. so thats what could be the cause of it showing slow charge :) on android 4.03 its not showing that but it is actualy also charging slower when using the phone as half the power is used :)

battery is fine... i get the same idle time as my brother with a single core experia phone thats known to be verry power efficient. if your phone is not then check your apps theck your wifi signal and check your 3g signal as the ploblem lays with those things 99.99% of the time the other 1% is a faulty battery which is verry unlikely.

I am a current holder of an LG optimus 4X HD, and i have to say my experience with it has been smooth-sailing for these past few months. I love watching videos on my 4X with its large screen and vibrant colours. However, its battery also drains very fast when i do so, hence, i usually watch videos while charging my phone. I enjoy playing games on a smooth interface that rarely lags when i open and close many apps at once. Interestingly, i find that it does not consume as much battery when i blast music with my phone on standby mode. It is more battery draining for it wifi to be switched on at standby mode. I would invest in a portable charger if you are a heavy user like me. Overall, I think this phone is totally worth the buck. :)

With my normal use, few calls and tex and checking news reader ext,about 2 days. What I do is,Close everything,turn off data,WiFi,GPS,BT,then reboot. When the phone is up again, go to settings-apps-running apps and make a list of apps running after the reboot. I usually have 10 or 11. This let's me know what may be using battery later. If app manager is running touch it and the option to close it will pop up. Usually the reboot will restore things I need only but once app manager was running after reboot. Maybe I didn't close everything. Do this by long pressing home button and close all. Hope this helps.

I have a similar problem. In my case it seems to be the app manager running in the background. If I close it battery drain becomes much less. From 20 to 25 % to 1 to 3% overnight.

they have about the same camera and features as you can easely download 3rd party camera apps that have all features you could want. i have a special HDR camera app and a special app for panorama's and the stock app. what more do you want. but lets face it if you care this much about the camera but a point and shoot they are as thin as a phone today make 4 times better pictures and it saves us from more complaints about how bad phone cameras are. phone cames are there for snapshots of a moment and those dont need to be good quality for real pictures buy a camera for 80 bucks and you have a better result. technology limits phone camers from being a replacement for even the most simple point and shoot camera. so want snapshots then in good light any phone camera will do. want better pictures but a cheap point and shoot. want even better pics buy a more expencive point and shoot. care a lot about pics dig deep and buy a dslr like i did :) sets you back a grand but if the pics fail its because you failed :) they do have a VERRY steep learning curve but the results are amazing. heres a link of my photos. some are with my canon 450d (DSLR) but some are with a point and shoot from 2001 like the shrimp, moon trough tree, 3 birds and the Mercedes shots. and remember this is only a 3.2 MP camera from 2001. ok it cost 700 euro back then but thats because the tech was new a digital dslr back then cost 15 grand and they cost 500 bucks for a sweet model now. the point and shoot was a sony cybershot dsc-p71. so theres mu opinion on S3 vs 4x hd. buy it for a phone and if you take a lot of pics invest in something better its well worth it. and if you need help getting grips on photography techniques im willing to help as it took me 18 months to fully grasp all the technical terms that come into play with a dslr.

just disabled a lot of apps and after a reboot you manualy shutdown the apps that run and you dont need. sadly i seem to have 1 app that hogs memory over time hehe on a fresh reboot and after shutting down/disabling what i dont need from active apps i have over 600 mb free but after 3 days that drops to 420 to 450 mb because 1 all draining it btu i cant yet find which it is. and theres a flaw in my disabling yet so i want post what i all disable as itmakes the phone crash if you clear ram and then swipe close all active apps. so i need to figure that one outfirst hehe. im also still looking for a way to make bluetooth work on my pc to sync pictures so i can upload some screens here but for some reason bluetooth refuces to work on windows 7 64 bit and there is no driver to be found on the web.

You will never find a phone with its full RAM available.. The system uses some RAM and ofc it may differ from a model to another and as LG Optimus 4X HD uses less RAM than the Galaxy S3 for the system so I think its performance maybe higher.. Pino, u said you got ur phone tweaked to get more free RAM without root, so can you please tell me how !? :)

try going to settings and then developer settings and see if you have some boxes checked there. i know there is one that makes things blinks of the contend of the windows change. cant check it right now as the phone is charging in my dock and i dont like to interrupt a charge hehe. thats the only thing i can think of. if everything is unchecked try checking it and inchecking it again (without reboot in between ! ! ! just on and off again. ) i think its either screen update or strict modus that is causing the issue. maby there is a problem in the rom or rom update process that left these enabled even tho they show disabled.

I got slow charging message only when use my phone while charging. By that, I don't mean normal using but playing games, browsing internet via data conn and so on. It's normal because phone can't charge as fast as Tegra and big screen can use batt. :) Blanche... I suggest you to hard reset your phone. Then try to install software to repair it. If that fails, it must be hardware fault. Motherboard, graphic or something...

Oh my.. My 4x reboots while im browsing and red border appears blinking when started up.. Blinking stops when I unlocked my phone..Red borders are still present in opening/closing application either turning On/Off my phone.. Is this a bug in JB? or a hardware defect?

unlimited temp charging is NOT the same as getting rid of slow charge ! ! ! and may damage your phone.. so do NOT do this as it no longer swaps to slower charging as the battery heats up but just loads full power non stop even when overheated...

Or simply type 3845#*880# in phone dialer to access hidden menu. Then goto module test.then charging test. Select unlimited temperature charging .this will reset on every reboot.it is only way to stop slow charge. But phone could over heat as slow charge is to help stop the phone over heating

This is for anyone who upgraded to jellybean and experiencing slow charging in wall charger. First: after updating it is necessary to reset to factory default. a lot of icons changed and will not appear. Second: I've just found a work around for slow charging using wall charger. -connect wall charger to cellphone -check if slow charging appear -go to settings>pc connections> select charge only -while in pc connection, change to Media Sync (MTP) -unplug charger from cellphone then replug -slow charging will now not appear and will charge quickly i dont know if this apply to everyone with jellybean but it works for me. I cant wait charging in slow mode. I hope this works to everyone ^_^ PS: home backup in ICS will not restore in JB, it will just say file corrupted

i dont think it matters if you buy now or in juli they will most likely both be loaded with the same software . once nvidia releases the update lg will have to put it in a rom and if they would be doing that for newly fabrikated phones only tey would get a wall of complaints so its highly likely they will also release it for the old ones :) the only difference between buying now and in juli is that it woill be cheaper in juli :) so if you dont need it now waiting might save you 30 or so bucks.
