HTC U Ultra - User Reviews

  • Unfortunately, I bought this phone few months ago and it's very bad when compared to mid range Huawei phones. I regret buying it.

  • I bought one 2 years ago it was good device but after 20 months it stop warking i dont know why the hard braked down and i couldn't fix it so i will never use an htc mobile again in my life

  • wea'd u buy this bro at that price? I need one

  • Daamn value for money. i bought it in kenya at 14000 ($140) and they are still available on jumia. The best specs for money but they battery only gave me 5hr 14 mins of youtube streaming with optimized battery(not powersaver mode), and i only get on avarage 3hrs 20 mins of screen on time, but it compensates with the ultra fast charging on its charger. I love the earphones, the sound, its really fast too, the camera is the most amazing i have used, better than galaxy s8 (am using gcam). i used gcam on both s8 and u ultra and i would say u ultra is better but camera keeps crashing, in addition the camera really takes up power in HDR mode for gcam, i mean 3 pics can have a 2% drop in the battery. its also not a one handed phone, i love the second display, its really functional and unique though its a copy of the LG V10/20.

  • A flawless phone that is definitely underestimated. Every thing is great exept the battery

  • So...allegedly someone's selling this for 160 eur new, worth it ? Pros cons? Can someone who's used it provide some feedback please? Thanks!

  • Why is sound via U Sonic(i think its U Sonic earbuds, they came in the box) so poor? I have htc m9,sound is so powefull, great and srong! This one isnt even close that great and even not that close loud! Im listening music via Google Play Music app since there is no Htc music app anymore.

  • 3 hours on screen time Poor battery but fast charging partially resolves problem Surfing is fast ofcourse. No problems

  • Taken to the work shop as it was shut down, one of the electronic board was not functioning. Replacing charge asked almost 320 Dollars where the HTC Ultra was selling 230 Dollars. Maintenance matters!!

  • Can someone please tell me about the battery life. Especially web browsing time

  • The battery is my problem

  • why are you telling me something I already know? my message was a reply to Dario, who was giving James a solution to go back to 7. that would not work.

  • Factory reset NEVER restores/brings back old ROM in any phone.

  • Best phone i have ever used hands down. A year down the line not a single issue. Running on stock Oreo. About 4.5hrs onscreen time. Fantastic camera using Gcam, sharp display and a beautiful design. My regret is am not getting pie from Htc. I keep it simple so i don't go for third party Roms. I would recommend it to anyone considering the price tag at the moment

  • it was a premium device

  • Factory resetting a phone doesn't restore the OLD ROM. it just put what ever ROM you have on to factory settings. It will help with some bugs but it's not going to bring back Android 7

  • Just restart phone to manufacture setting and then swich off of automatic upgrade

  • No that is not a Notch really because there are 2 displays I think. No Notch on the big display. I got an HTC U Ultra at home now and I have to say I am impressed how this phone is so cheap. It feels and looks like a premium device.

  • Technically it has a notch in the top left corner for the camera, that is not that visible because of the black background of the top part of the screen

  • For the price it is going at now, I think it's still a good buy.

  • HTC U Ultra worth it now? its really cheap and at least it has no notch Snapdragon 821, Quad HD and Android 8 sounds pretty good too what u think?

  • Then buy Samsung because this phone is over 2 years old now. It's not getting anymore OS updates

  • Giv us 9.0 android pie on htc u ultraaa or i m buying samsung!

  • i have u ultra but when it had android 7 i was consent but now i am not consent because it has a lot of problem.boot up,lag, and also when i want to unlock my photo ,it has bad behavior i mean after unlock i see blink in the screen and its very awful ,i am regret to update my phone .because android 7 it was very good and it has not any other problem.and also i am very Agry of htc because .htc released just one android for htc u ultra while ultra was high end an now become to lower price phone.why ?!!!.i have good advice for all people have htc u ultra .please do not upgrade your phone in to Oreo.because Oreo is disaster ...

  • I'm on the same version as you.

  • in which region and country you are in ? i am in Middle east and we have totally out dated software update i am still stuck on android 8 software version 2.19.401.1 ...

  • please who ever had out dated software update in their HTC U Ultra like i had... please go to HTC support website and ask them for the most recent software update like the rest of the world is getting ... its so disappointing that we paid the same price for the phone and our HTC u ultra still had out dated software update from last jan 2018 which is more than a year ago as 2.19.401.1 with android 8.0 and rest of the world have 2.27.708.1 with android 8.0 i am in Middle east and i have unlocked HTC U Ultra sapphire addition 128gb

  • guys i have htc u ulra 128GB version and i am still stuck on android 8 software version 2.19.401.1 ... can anyone please tell me which software version they have ? latest update ?

  • Get the leatest update

  • Which region

  • I just got update the same 2.27.708.1 update, same update from September, Android security patch 2018 August, 1. Don't know why the update pop up 2 times.

  • My last update is February 2018. Where is the problem? Is HTC stuck with updates?

  • I using an international dual sim model & I gave my mom the single SIM USA model. Both have different ROM #s but none have gotten an update sense early last year.

  • Maybe different region has different ROM update. There should be no unified ROM download for HTC smartphone.

  • the last update i got was January 1, 2018 Android Security patch level

  • Yesterday received another system update notification on the same latest 2.27.708.1 version, 133.14MB download. Have received this updates since 23 September 2018, don't know if anyone received the similar update, still Android 8.0. I haven't download the OTA.

  • HTC designed the UI only to recognize U-sonic headphones. if you are not using HTC U-sonics or U-Sonic compatible earbuds it will not work

  • Whats the problem with usb type c headset? its perfectly working with the charger/data cable but when i plugged in my type c headset, suddenly i cant hear any sounds or output. any same case scenario? any troubleshooting step or solution either.

  • They are Sapphire but bad quality of Sapphire but anyway Sapphire is Sapphire and is better than gorilla glass which is really shit and so easy to scratch it or broke it !

  • finger print lock ?

  • Sadly, after checking online review, the so called sapphire glass on iPhone is not sapphire. It is just the same glass as Gorilla glass level of anti-scratch level. You can check the video online that reveal the glass cover on iPhone camera is not sapphire. The sapphire glass on this HTC U Ultra is true sapphire. Another phone that has true sapphire glass is Kyocera DuraForce Pro 2. Shame on Apple's iPhone for cheating.

  • No not only on the latest iPhone's cameras , they are on iPhone's cameras since many years, since iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus so since 4 years ! Anyway they can do creat more but they don't want to get more money from because Sapphire isn't a cheap material !

  • There are sapphire glass on more expensive model, but not everyone willing to pay on that. Given the life cycle of smartphone, the sales of sapphire model will be much less, given the price premium. What you listed are a bunch of premium Apple gadget that doesn't fall into the same price category, and only latest Apple iPhone has sapphire on camera part, which is a total shame where the front glass should be a sapphire rather than just on that small camera. Nobody say Sapphire is bad, but for it to be mass commercialized is still not yet possible on smartphone screen.

  • Yes I know but Sapphire glass but on Apple Watches stainless steel is Sapphire and the camera glass of iPhones also from Sapphire and Sapphire is much much betterter than coring or iPhone glass ! There are big difference between Sapphire and the others.. let's hope they will bring Sapphire back again

  • It is about the cost, I think now only Corning company can mass produce the anti scratch glass in low cost and almost can meet all phone size and shape. Even iPhone glass is not made of sapphire, it is same level as Corning Gorilla glass.

  • Sapphire glass is perfect, i don't know why the companies don't use it ! It can protect the phones really good

  • Pixel 3 camera I think only works on Android Pie. I think at least need Android 9.0 installed. If not, development would end on Android 8.0

  • anyone has tried porting pixel 3 camera in this phone? did it work? or aleast the is portrait mode on this device works? thanks

  • Like what? I'm running Android 8.0 on my Note 9 and I can't think of a single app that requires 8.1, as that would simply be suicide. Given the vast majority of Android phones are running version 6 or 7, requiring 8.1 would be madness!

  • dude buy the HTC U Ultra it's 180$ on ebay

  • If not pie, at least it should be updated to 8.1. Many apps are incompatible because of this.

  • for gaming u ultra is beyter than those midrangers .. even nokia7.1 with adreno 616

  • Any gaming review?? I'm planning to buy 1 of the following: Nokia 7.1 Plus (Nokia X7) HTC U Ultra Oppo K1 Nokia 6.1 Plus (Nokia X6) Asus Zenfone Max Pro (M1) ZB601KL Nokia 6.1

  • do all updates/ wipe cache partition/ factory reset.

  • The Phone is new but it hanging what is the solution

  • what problems are you having with facebook & youtube video? I also have this phone and using Facebook 196.0.0.41.95 & youtube 13.43.50 with no problems on Android 8.0

  • Not good facebook vedio and utube vedio not good mobile im ues this mobile

  • Well, considering the HTC sales are dropping, and being dominated by many of the rising Chinese brand, I wonder how long HTC still can sustain. I think Android 8.0 is the last update, and this phone has very less chance to get Android 9.0.

  • europe ver is on march sec. patch but mine still on jan patch ... Why htc why just tell me why @:

  • consider yourself lucky. its more than 30 days from when you said you got the update and its still not out for the USA or the Dual SIM model I have.

  • I think mine is Hong Kong region, 64GB/4GB, dual sim version. Just get the update by last month, 2.27.708.1, Android security patch level is August 1, 2018. Everything works just fine and getting much more stable after the updates. This is my daily driver for one of my sim card. I still can't get used of the lack of 3.5mm jack, which I always have to find the converter whenever I need to use my JBL earphone.

  • I've recently purchased the phone for around USD190. Overall, its a good flagship phone for a cheap price. Except for the below average battery life.

  • This is big bug of HTC cell fone that it switchoff itself, the problem can not be resolved HTC has same issue with many otehr models

  • factory reset

  • my mobile is getting on & off by its self htc u ultra can u help me plzzz what should i do

  • i have high end pc(high end for last year but still powerfull) and u ultra and a lg g3 .. i play pubg mobile on both uultra and old lg g3

  • "while it can do it at a computer"- this is the problem. Some people don't have money to buy a good computer. For 350€ i can buy a high-end phone(like nokia 8) or a cheap computer(ryzen 3 2200g). Nokia 8 can run pubg on high settings in 60fps but R3 2200g can't do this.

  • I cannot understand everyone who playing games in a smartphone. Or even watching films, working or do jobs from a small screen while it can do it at a computer. Phones are phones and the smart phones are just smart phones. As for the u ultra is just one really good phone for its price. I think is the better phone for its price. If you connect keyboards and mouse at a smart phone do a favor to your life and buy a computer o o game console if you don't have the badget

  • This phone is laggy for pubg becoz after 2 or 3 minutes gaming cpu temp go on 60 centigrad and after that cpu decrease the cpu/gpu freq to save temp and pubg will be laggy .. sd821 is good for games but when cpu temp controlled

  • Man, i want a cheap phone which can run ok pubg mobile with a keyboard, mouse and headphones...i don't care how it looks

  • this phone u ultra is lovely and good enough with all pros and cons .. go for u ultra and enjoy its luxury and unique design

  • I want Nokia 8 but is more expensive. Htc is 200€ and Nokia 300€. I can refund if i don' t like the phone :)

  • Ah, hell, didn't see your question. In the off chance you're still around , I've decided to hold on to the s6 until Christmas , then I'm switching to this baby. I have turned in on twice (couldn't resist) and I see no huge problems about it. Sure, galaxy's AMOLED is superior to ultra's lcd, but that is not to say the lcd is bad. The sound is awesome, the feel of the phome is great, and the speed and responsiveness fast. Of course, I will know the whole story when I really start using it daily, but I'm pretty sure I'll love it. Don't care about it not being waterproof, I can live without the headphone jack, I think the only thing I really will be a bit sorry for is the battery. But again, my brother has the U11, and that phone has the same kind of battery, and it's twice the price of the u ultra. All in all, good deal.

  • yes it supports usb otg

  • this phone support otg but too hot and has some problems like ghost on the screen no update available in al regions some regions . go for another phone like nokia 8

  • Hello! Htc u ultra support otg? I want to connect a gaming keyboard, a mouse and a headphones(i need a usb A to jack adapter). The phone become hot in games? I want to use it at least two years. I hope you will understand "my english"😀❤

  • Hello! Htc u ultra support otg? I want to connect a gaming keyboard, a mouse and a headphones(i need a usb A to jack adapter). The phone become hot in games? I want to use it at least two years. I hope you will understand "my english"😀❤

  • i have j15 arabic/middleEast version and last update is 2.19.401.1 with jan Spatch ... i check the update section every day every hour every second every milisecond but there s no updaaaate .. i can t sOff this stuff for find other ways .. there s no ruu .. why htc why juat tell me why and let me die

  • What region phone do you have? I also have 2.19.401.1 which is dual sim (UK I think) and there is still no update. I also own the USA model and that didn't get any update as yet, as well.

  • You need to check the software update section. This phone I found out that it doesn't like to pop up the OS updates notification. This update come of sudden when I press the "Software Update" button, then only it search for updates online.

  • None. Both devices are fairly old and reached EOL. I'd suggest you to go for some other brands.

  • Go for 10. M using u ultra (got the sapphire 128gb version at just $270) and i agree that second screen is indeed useful, but overall it's a no. The size is huge and the oreo update is half baked. Not to mention the battery life which is below average.

  • HTC u ultra vs HTC 10 ,which one one of them is better because they have the same price now?

  • I didn't got that update. Still stuck on 2.19.401.1.

  • The phone has a dual sim & single sim version. From the sim tray point of view they look the same but in the settings, the dual sim model has a dual network manager. This is not found in the single sim model. Note, all made for the US market are single sim.

  • Which region? Is your device single or dual sim?

  • Why am i not able to use to SIM cards at the same time? It is only allowing a sim card and MicroSD card

  • After updated to the latest version, the phone feel more responsive. Before update, there are much lag, apps loading take very long time, SD card reading also very slow. I don't feel the improvement on battery life, but it is more stable now, at least.

  • Just get an update for stability fix and Android security patch August 1, 2018. The software number is updated to 2.27.708.1. It is still Android version 8.0.0.

  • If UI is not important to you I would say go with the Mi mix 6.4

  • No headphone Jack

  • Hi the camera on htc U Ultea is faaar moooore better than one on mi mix ... The cpu/gpu is a little faster on U .. Battery is better on mi mix .. Custom roms and kernels are availible for mi mix even support treble unofficialy .. for design i think u is better tgan mix .. mix is bezelless but far from new bezelless devices design standards..

  • I'm in the "limbo" condition for choosing my next phablet: HTC U ultra or XIAOMI Mi mix 6.4? The choose is based on my attention for large display and a decent camera. Help me!

  • I'm in the "limbo" condition for choosing my next phablet: HTC U ultra or XIAOMI Mi mix 6.4? The choose is based on my attention for large display and a decent camera. Help me!

  • Really a good edition..specially after discounted price..to 5.500 Egyptian Pound. GREAT VALUE

  • Are you still going to put it in a draw & keep using the S6, now that you see what the U Ultra can do?

  • I bought it, and its awesome, so I worry no more. I don't find the size to be a problem at all.

  • I haven't. what feature are you trying to use with no internet that is sending you back to the home screen? I would like to try it and see what happens

  • Dear I think dont worry about that becomes Google buy HTC so don't worry about that

  • Everytime when I am in a no internet zone, my U ultra is unusable, I can't access any of the features, it keeps coming back to homescreen. Anyone had experienced the same problem?

  • Thanks

  • *their

  • Thanks for the answer. Guess I'm getting it then before it's too late. I'll keep it in a drawer for a couple more months till my s6 gives its last breath, then I'm opening this huge thing. I think it's really worth it. Thanks again.

  • It's already discontinued. Most, if not all HTC web pages no longer have it for sale. The price drop is 3rd party sellers trying to get rid of last stuck. And clones made to make a quick buck.

  • Hey, guys, need an opinion, I really want to buy this phone, especially after the price drop, but the size puts me off. Still, I'm worried HTC will discontinue it pretty soon, since I don't see how they make any money after the price drop. What uo you think? Do I have some more time to think or is this baby going off the market pretty soon?

  • I've had mine for a year. The achille's heel for this unit is the battery. When I first got the phone, I could go nearly all day without need to recharge. Now when I leave the house with it fully charged in the morning, I usually have to recharge at lunch, then early evening. I still have another year to pay before I can consider replacing it. I dread what its power performance will be in another 6 months. The big draw is the camera. Both stills and video are magnificent. I did outdoor night photography last weekend and not a bit of noise in the dark areas.

  • follow up Saturday 27th, I got the replacement display assembly (display/ frame combo) cost $56.00US to buy and $100.00tt (less than $20.00US) to install. I'm happy to say it is working like new once again. The assembly was not new as I could see the tape residue from where the back glass was removed from the made frame. but I look at this as a good thing because now I feel a little more comfortable that the glass would be gorilla glass, not some cheap other glass to keep cost down. and the condition is impeccable. for anyone that needs replacement, see the link below.

  • I plan to use the phone for about two years. You think it's a better option HTC U Ultra? Which phone has a better camera?

  • If you want to change every year xiaomi or less. If you want to use over two year htc, sony, motorola

  • Htc U Ultra or Xiaomi Mi A2? What is a better option?

  • YouTube 13.32.52 is in the play store now. and so far all the bugs I had in the other updates seem to be fixed.

  • I using HTC u ultra one year six month very nice experience colourful screen great audio battery heavy use one day moderate use one and half days less use 2 days can come battery life this phone headset very great quality you buy I phone also can not get like this quality 11/2i using one time also no hang no slow value for money

  • I would take iPhone 6 out of your list of phones you want to keep for 2 years (2020). it's already 4years old (the battery in that phone will already be degraded from the 1st day you get it. added to which, all the iPhones from 2018 going forward are being designed to be used with face ID and no physical home key, therefore software designers going to mainly design for that. that means some apps will not work with the iPhone 6.

  • I have the z5 but it broke into half on its own. I can afford buying xz1 nokia8 iphone6 and htc u ultra. Which one can I use for two years? -Software update isnot a big issue if it is working just fine.

  • htc very soon dead duck ..even htc 12plus black blue editions not available on htc website .. never mind android p for htc ultra only launched march 2017 ..pathetic

  • Well.. Looks like our beloved U Ultra won't be getting Pie after all

  • Yes, It's a good phone & hope Android Pie will come

  • if u want gaming go for lg g6 since it's full screen display is more ergonomics, specs wise both are good and has the same number of ram... but lg's battery is bigger and the audio quality is far better but once you fire the camera, the u ultra is miles better.. ive once used an lg v20.. the performance is bad, lg's the same like Samsung as their noise reduction is very disturbingly aggressive but worse.. pick ur choose wisely (;

  • That sound like a Chinese knockoff of the U Ultra. you know aliexpress is known for selling knock-off stuff right. Chinese phones to be sold in China, normally don't have the play store (i think its band) most people I know that shop on aliexpress, do it to get cheap fakes of expensive stuff.

  • it would be hard for me to answer that for your use case as I use GPS (Waze), youtube & Netflix and Bluetooth earbuds a lot. so I have to top-up during the day but it's very fast with the included charger. my recorded screen on to can be anywhere between 3-4 hours. when I come off the charger at 5am i have to plug in again by 2,3pm

  • Bought from aliexpress a week ago and arrived without google play services. Tried installing and keep getting the message " google services wont run unless you update google services". What do i do?

  • anth0ny...I wanna ask u about battery life of u ultra ...how long lasts ....my use face reading pdf no game no music no movie...

  • U Ultra has the better camera, bigger screen, louder sound & better ear buds.

  • Should I go to htc u ultra or LG G6 Both around same price tag hear and both are with sd 821 chips Which one is better I love playing games with phone

  • Which one is best HTC 10 or HTC u ultra

  • U11+ is nice, U12 is better but a display assembly with the mid frame for my U ULTRA cost $56.00US. which of those phones I going to get at that price. Lol. I'll change phones when Android Q comes out. Or I can't repair this one.

  • 7 years it was mis typing I have trouble with the battery of U Ultra

  • Better change your phone. Does not related to phone reliability anyway. How about HTC U11+

  • I think I dropped my phone 1 too many times. my display is starting to do strange things. I am now starting to see what looks like burn in when switching between apps. or maybe it's more like ghosting. added to which sometimes my screen would blink and then become unresponsive to the touch. I would have to hold the power key and volume down till the soft keys flash 3 or 4 times then swipe the screen to jump start it to work again. a simple power off will not get it working again. looking into buying a display assembly

  • 70 years you say. You must be 1 of there time traveling fans. :)

  • I m a big fan of HTC I ve had HTC for more than 70 years I va bought this model 10 days ago all things are OK But not the battery It keeps the charges Only for the some hours in a day

  • Yes. If you turn on flash for the front camera, when you press to take the picture, the screen flashes a bright white.

  • Does the front camera have a flashlight

  • Correction: -To make it's sound output from the phone dual speaker again, set the "Audio Jack" to "Off".

  • Sharing on how to charge HTC U Ultra while using normal headphone jack 3.5mm. Picture 1 link: - I use this Baseus L40 type C to 3.5mm adapter with charging port. The 3.5mm port is not that good, not contacting the headphone jack properly, I buy additional dual 3.5mm adapter for it to sound properly. Picture 2 link: - For this to work, you need to download "Audio Router" apps from Google Play Store, then set the "Audio Jack" to "On". -To make it's sound output from the phone dual speaker again, set the "Loud Speaker" to "On". Picture 3 link: - If the setup work, when playing sound from sound making apps, such as MX Player, it will show "HTC BoomSound On" on notification, notice that the icon for "BoomSound" become an "ear" icon, rather than the normal "speaker" icon. Then, viola, sound come out from this adapter. The sound is rich from this smartphone, paired with my cheap JBL C100Si in-ear earphone, no buzzing sound. The charging is very slow, I measured the amp of charge is only 0.4A, very slow charging. Technically, this works on any Type C smartphone. Some China brand smartphone has native support for this adapter, others may need this "Audio Router" apps to route the sound output come out from this adapter. This adapter just cost around $4 dollar at my country, cheaper than the one original for HTC U Ultra.

  • I was thinking like the way u say And now I'm chaning my opinion Now HTC is going very well and its upcoming phone gonna blow the markets! :D

  • I buy U Ultra about 2 month ago. I really love that and enjoy working with that. Everything is going well.but the battery life is little less than I think.and thats because of my usage(use 4g net instead of wifi) In gaming thats perfect and doesn't have lag in asphalt 9 (if u have good net) The overall performance is great and in this range of price I really suggest you to buy U ULTRA

  • I bought this phone for my dad. Not much usage though. Only calling n stuff. No gaming no movies. Disabled all the bloatwares. Hardly 4-5 apps installed (Facebook lite, youtube, Whatsapp, banking and a voip calling app). Still 2 hours screen on time (using both boost+ and greenify). Will see if it improves after updating to oreo.

  • Hello, I bought mine this May. Taiwanese version. I'm still at Nougat, I don't experience that 2 hours SOT. I however do get around 3 hours SOT when I'm using Mobile Data + Heavy Graphics game + Full Brightness + Headphone&Mic.

  • It depends on the usage pattern. I'm only getting 2 1/2 - 3 hours when playing heavy graphic games like pubg nba2k18 mobile legends straight gaming. But when normal usage facebook, sms, games, watching videos, youtube, etc. I'm getting 4 1/2 - 5 hours.

  • But if you only getting 2 hours, that's ridiculous. You don't think doing all the updates should fix that? I have been using my phone for more that a year now. & if I was getting less than 3 hours screen on time I would start looking to buy a new phone.

  • No it isn’t rooted. Got a brand new packed phone from htc authorised store. It’s UAE region and got the oreo update but didn’t updated due to poor battery life complaints in xda.

  • Did you buy a rooted phone? 2 hour screen on time is not normal. You can't even watch a movie if that's true.... And what region U ULTRA do you have? Didn't know any region is still on Android nougat.

  • Bought the phone. Not updated to oreo yet, but disappointed with the battery life. Max 2hrs screen on time.

  • Thanks brother really frustrating issue let's see what happens

  • The issue of the full screen controls was fixed but now they broke the swipe down function when in portrait mode.

  • Go for this phone. The specs of this phone is a flagship yet a midrange as for the price.

  • Is this phone worth buying now at $217..? Or should I go for Xperia XA2 Ultra instead, which is available at $272?

  • Guys is there anyone still facing frustrating YouTube issue I am on Oreo thanks in advance

  • Thanks man

  • Sorry. The default camera doesn't have any bokeh mode.

  • Planning to buy this phone. Can anybody tell me is there any bokeh mode or anything like that available on this phone?

  • if money not an issue go with U 11 or u ultra if under budget. i am using both u 11 and u ultra . u 11 is best ..

  • can any one suggest me , i am planning to buy htc mobile currently using htc one e8 , i am stuck in between htc u ultra , htc u play , htc 10 , htc u 11 , i am looking for using it for next 2-3 years which would be best option.....?

  • At the current price..... Yes it's more than worth that price. Just don't buy this phone used.

  • depends how you handle mobile without drops and over charging battery. if u take care can easly last 2 to 3 years or even more since mobile handware is strong enough to carry more years.

  • Useless phone battery dead in one year. No parts available my phone is given in service for replacement of battery since 19 June but no battery. Even the screen guard the flip cover not available. Never buy htc ultra in india

  • is this phone is still worth to buy in 2018 with low price in market .... ??? help me to made my decision ?

  • Is it good for long term using? For like 3 years ??

  • go with HTC u ultra its a flagship mobile ... A7 is a mid range mobile ...

  • they are both old phones now, so it comes down to which cost less & which UI you like more.

  • Htc u ultra or Samsung A7 ?

  • for those who have noticed the YouTube issues in landscape mode. Version 13.24.59 came out on June 26th and do far the issues I noticed on the older versions seem to be fixed. Uninstall what ever version you are using before you install this version. And restart your phone after you install this version

  • Very useful information, this will help me to decide between this phone and the Sony xz1. Thank you very much!!

  • Oh I see , thanks for the info Maan.

  • This is the best and the cheapest high end mobile you could ever get. I bought two 64 gb (250$) versions and one 128 gb version (300 $ ). The 128 gb version is beast in performance though 64 gb is also very good. i have gifted 64 gb version in my family and kept 128 gb version Sapphire crystal glass for me. Pros : Great display , Very good stereo speakers , slim , not heaver side easy to carry , Good performance , Best head phone you get in box better than current Iphone 8 . Dual SIM , bigger screen . all these in so less price. cons : NO 3.5 mm jack , no water resistance , Average battery life ( whole day with moderate usage ). thats it.

  • Aside from my bad comments, this phone isn't bad. For the $250 dollar I paid, I get a real flagship phone rather than a mid range phone. This is not some sort of Chinese brand either, it is the HTC. At the most budget constrain at the time of buying, this one offer most bang for bucks. It is not perfect. The lack of 3.5mm jack is big issue. It try to compliments with a type c $100 dollar grade noise cancelling in ear earphone, but still cannot simultaneous charging and listening at the same time. SOT is shy of 4 hours. Apart from that, it is an ok phone.

  • I have the alphanumeric, finger print & OK google unlock setup. I don't use the pattern because with wet fingers anyone can tilt your phone to the side and see your pattern in the sweat marks

  • This one depend, I prefer the silence option, that is using the fingerprint sensor. But normally I will not use it at all, simply wet finger totally make the fingerprint sensor dirty. I normally just double tap the screen, and unlock the screen with pattern. Not the fastest way, but more reliable than fingerprint. As I say, it is my always sweaty finger that may cause the problem, my area is high humidity too.

  • Again, there is works around for my false trigger or false touch issue. Probably I shouldn't say the secondary screen not useful. I should say if the false touch issue is solved whenever I put in my pocket, then it would be very good.

  • Yes, already set to "Always" for "Keep WiFi on during sleep". Issue still happen. Not always disconnected, but do happen sometime. My router is only the old 2.4Ghz WiFi, wireless N 150mbps, issue may happen on this old WiFi band. Maybe issue will be gone if connect to 5Ghz WiFi. I suppose this is some software issue.

  • Samsung S7 is not, but Samsung S7 Edge definitely still worth to buy. Depend on region, mine only comes with 32GB storage, and cost considerably more (almost 50% more expensive), so that's why I don't go with it. But for normal user, yes, Samsung S7 Edge is more recommended. There is also Samsung Note FE, and also Oneplus 3T, for around that same pricing.

  • I suffer from the wet fingers problem too. but drying my fingers and cleaning the home key normally works. I also set up "ok google" to wake & unlock my phone. and it does very well in distinguishing my voice over other voices part in thanks to the 4 mics. I know it's not foolproof but its good enough for my normal locking needs

  • I would say the secondary screen is useless. I like that I can disable popup notifications from social apps and get the notifications on the second screen only. which does not disturb the app im in but I can still see the message. I like that I can have all my communication app icons there for quick app switching without having to press the app switcher button first. I like that some 3rd music player apps can load their basic play interface on the second screen so you can have some music control without leaving your active app.

  • did you go in your wifi preferences & set "keep wifi on during sleep" to always?

  • would you say a Samsung S7 is better for a normal user or would it be more annoying?

  • Been using this phone for 3 months, 64GB version, so here are my thought: 1. Obviously, the 3.5mm headphone jack is missing, this is the biggest issue. I have buy the USB C to 3.5mm accessory, the original HTC one work right out of the box (sadly, not included in the original phone box, need to buy separately), but cannot charge the phone at the same time. The OEM one, like Baseus brand, which can charge the phone and listen to music via 3.5mm jack at the same time, need to install an apps called Audio Router to force the sound output to the 3.5mm jack. So, technically, it works with any brand of type C to 3.5mm converter, but need a workaround app to use. I'm not a music listener with headphone/earphone (I actually hate those), I prefer proper loud speaker, so this is not so much an issue for me, I seldom use headphone. 2. Battery life really is just average, powerbank is needed, won't last a day with my usage pattern. You can use any Qualcomm certified quick charger to charge. I buy the Xiaomi Powerbank 2, which support Qualcomm QC 2.0 to use with this phone. My car also installed a Qualcomm QC 3.0 car charger. No issue for me if I can quick charge the phone after battery is less than 40% in a day. 3. Yes, the backside is slippery, I crack my back glass too, but it is ok, I covered it with a sandstone cover, that's it. Not much can do with bare glass back. I am not the kind of showing off. I prefer the usability over the cosmetic beauty. 4. Secondary screen doesn't very useful, can accidentally trigger other function when put in my pocket. The secondary screen will be wake up when lift up the phone, like the case in the pocket. There is pocket mode to block the secondary screen wake up. Work around is disable the function toggle page of the secondary screen. 5. Some minor WiFi stability issue, where WiFi will disconnected at some time. This only happen on this phone, I got other backup phone that work without issue. Certainly is not my router issue, is this phone issue. 6. Fingerprint sensor not always work, might due to my sweaty finger (I live in tropical country), and my finger skin change. Need to calibrate and reset from time to time. This might not is the sensor issue. I have try other phone with fast fingerprint sensor, same issue with sweaty finger. 7. Direct hot swap out the sim card and Micro SD card without turn of the phone from the sim tray will cause the phone cannot detect the Micro SD card when put back. Phone will overheat if not rebooted to detect the card, even reboot is selected, it won't reboot, just goes to a blank black screen. Must press power button and volume minus button to force a phone reboot into recovery menu, then select reboot for the phone to properly reboot. After reboot, the phone back to normal. 8. Otherwise, everything else just work like a flagship smartphone, with great power and speed, great speaker, great screen, and much less heating. The only reason I buy this phone is because it is the cheapest Snapdragon 821 phone sold at my country (just around USD 250), almost half the price of other similar spec phone, that still comes with Micro SD slot, that also actually flagship grade, but with some flaws. It is much less heated than my previous phone when is stressed by using camera for long time, or playing very heavy games. On normal usage, no heating issue what so ever. All in all, this phone is not for everyone. The battery life is bad and the missing 3.5mm headphone jack is annoying. Secondary screen doesn't really useful. Some issue here and there, not serious issue, but can be annoying. Otherwise, it works like a normal Android smartphone. Performance wise, it doesn't disappoint. I advise don't go for this phone. For me, I'm ok, because I am a software engineer, some workaround to make things work doesn't quite bother me, I know how these workaround works. But for normal user, you can get annoyed with these problem. Just skip this phone and get something else.

  • as you plan to keep it for a long time, you should not buy it used. as the charging cycles on the battery could have already been reduced by more than a year use.

  • if you ok with staying on Oreo or Android P for the 2.5 years, don't see any reason. you should not get it. but please invest in a good TPU case and a tempered glass screen protector. if you want the shell of this phone to last that long. remember its made of glass, not plastic or aluminum. it doesn't matter that its gorilla brand glass. it's still not as shatterproof as metal or plastic.

  • I really like it and i want it to stay with me at least 2 and half years So should i go for it ?

  • my phone before this was the HTC ONE MAX and before that the Samsung SIII so what was annoying about this phone is..... 1. how slippery, easily scratchable & crackable the back glass is. the 1 time I had it out of my case, I was sitting on the floor & watched it slip right off my lap to the floor and the back glass got scratched. in the 2nd month of having it, I shattered the back glass. had the buy a replacement glass on ebay. I put a skin on the back as soon as I replaced it. 2. there is no extended battery case for this phone like I could have gotten for my SIII & ONE MAX. 3. I still miss having dual front-facing speakers which were on the HTC ONE MAX 4. I miss not having HTC branded album and music player. they both did things I can't find in a single app so now I have to use more than 1 app to get the same things done. as for the rest, I really do enjoy using this phone and don't see the need to upgrade to any other 2018 phone.

  • And is there anything annoying about this phone or not good ?

  • I was good for 3 years but now it's already 1.5 years old. Half of the 3 years is already gone. The promised Android update window for most phone is 18 months, so Android P is the last version on Android this phone is going to get.

  • Is the U Ultra good for a long term using like 3 years or not ? I really like this phone but I don’t know some people say it is good and others say it’s the worst phone ever

  • I would day U Ultra for smooth performance, quicker response time and better audio quality & volume than Samsung. but go Samsung if accessorizing is important to you or ease of aftermarket repair. I personally will not buy a Samsung phone until they fix the UI of its lag problems that starts in about the 8th month of ownership

  • yes, its good for Bluetooth audio once you have a good blue tooth headphone. the corded Usonic earbuds that come it the box is by far the best earbuds in terms of audio quality that comes with a phone I have ever heard. The Bluetooth audio codec you can select from in developer options are SBC AAC aptX aptX HD LDAC the sample rate you can select from is 44.1khz 48.0khz 88.2 khz 96.0khz the bits per sample you can be set to 16, 24, 32 LDAC codec playback quality can be set to 990kbps/909kbps 660kbps/606kbps 330kbps/303kbps

  • I currently cracked my phone screen but honestly it's a hard phone still working well although gets heated quickly

  • Hi Phone's sound is good enough for listening music and stuff but I had issues in connecting to other sound systems

  • Is the Htc U Ultra good for playing audio via wireless headphones? Can anyone confirm the sound quality over wired headphones and wireless headphones please. And also, does it support any high quality audio codecs like LDAC and aptX HD?

  • Should I buy the U Ultra or Samsung and if Samsung wich one ? Thanks for helping

  • I was htc follower but i sincerely to admit I have u ultra after 8 months have found very problems The u ultra board is left side and because of warming phone left side of lcd To form a half circle is yellowish Thats durability is very poor screen and back panel easily scratch i very careful and even not put in my pocket But there are millions of scratch on lcd Just once allow my mobile on table and while raising deep scratch on back panel.. I forget to say my mobile has other issues that is my lcd burn in!!! I think amoled panel has this problem but after 2 year I don't wrong with amoled but htc u lcd is very poor and has many problems.. I'm sorry for htc Htc u just beautiful and That's durability is very poor htc until htc 10 was good and with start htc u is rubbish I'll never buy htc .

  • Watch the camera VS video, then come back & say what you think.

  • U Ultra

  • U Ultra.

  • Which one's camera is better HTC 10 or HTC u ultra?

  • you're welcome

  • Thank you for the response much appreciated I have reversed my YouTube to older version it's working fine now I hope Google will fix this issue soon

  • Exactly i did. Its issue with new youtube update go back to older one

  • Yes it screwing up the interface in full screen mode. But it's not the phone or a Oreo problem. Its new bugs in the lates versions of YouTube. Older versions of the app don't have the problem and if you uninstall the app and go back to the version that built-in to the ROM, you don't have the problem.

  • YouTube on my HTC U Ultra is playing up does anyone experiencing this problem my U Ultra running on Oreo thanks in advance

  • To my fellow HTC U ULTRA user's Add more functionality to taking screen shots my installing HTC screen capture tool. After you take a screenshot the tool pops up and gives you more options that other flagships have but was missing from HTC phones.

  • how to deal with ROM update issues in 10 steps. 1. power off the phone. 2. hold volume down & power at the same time. 3. release the power button when you see the HTC logo. 4. release the volume button when the HTC download mode loads. 5.volume down to "reboot to bootloader" and press power button. 6. volume down to "boot to recovery mode" and press power button. 7. when the phone reboots to the screen with the phone image with the warning logo... hold the power button and quick press volume up. 8. volume down to "wipe cache partition" and press the power button. 9.volume down to "wipe data/factory reset" and press the power button. 10 press power button when on the "reboot system now" option.

  • Hi I have recently updated my HTC to android oreo ( official update ) and since then my phone has not been picking up any signal.. Any ideas how to fix it?

  • I did Oreo update did not faced any lagging issue.. performance excellent .. beauty with beast performance .... Best buy if anyone planning since HTC dropped price hugely

  • Got mine too this May 2018. I'm playing hard graphics game on wifi or 4G, it is fast and smooth. Even doing the split screen (game + youtube) doesnt slow either screen. Probably should factory reset it, could be a malware/virus.

  • Snapchat runs shit on every android phone. The app is straight garbage. No idea why games are lagging in your phone though? Are you sure you're not in power saver mode? Try clearing the cache partition.

  • i have a problem in this phone, when i want update my status in whatsapp the screen dont show anything , just black screen........ i did factory reset , wipe cashe, and still the same problem.... ????? what i can do.....

  • I got my device in may 2018, about a month ago. I have started using it after updating its software to oreo. i swear snapchat and some games lag allooot in this device when the wifi is turned on, if the wifi is turned off it works well! So what is the solution to stop getting this device from lagging? besides fingerprint scanner is very slow according to it other specifications. :/

  • Awesome phone, fast, nice looking, great display. Build quality is superb, camera is fast and very very good. Earphones are just the best. Battery is good. Phone isn't heavy. If there are some downsides to comment, that might be: fingerprint sensor can be better or placed on the back, loud speakers are missing depth or bass. And it's being priced very low recently. Best buy for sure.

  • No. It is not IP68 certified

  • Htc u ultra water and dust proof ?

  • I'm not going to tell you what to do with your phone. I Just want you to know I have the USA factory unlocked version of this phone which I bought from HTC USA on pre-order last year and I have no Oreo software lag. I did do a cache partition wipe and clean install. As for stock of this phone...... The price was dropped & then the phone was disconnected on HTC USA in 2017 before the Oreo update. Ohho protection was discontinued in June 2017 I cracked my back glass in April 2017 and was covered under ohho protection but they didn't even have replacement stock so I had to buy the back glass on eBay in July 2017. Not to mention the U 12+ is out now so sellers need to get this discontinued phone our of there shop. Those are the real reasons for the low price and no restocking in my opinion.

  • Hello Anthony, The vendor said there were some returns of U Ultra purchased after the Oreo release, claiming that mostly had problems like battery, lags, and slow downs upon update to Oreo. Even told me that they are marking the price down, and no longer restocking due to this issue. The vendor is reputable, as my previous phones i purchased with them are still all working and aged just fine. It is just unlikely for a vendor to 'warn' customers prior purchase. I've been reading the comments/opinions here and on other U Ultra blogs regarding errors and bugs upon Oreo update. Seeing that there are potential risk upon update, I am not willing to take it just yet. I do need this phone to be working properly for the next 2-3 years just like the previous ones, I dont want to risk wasting money. Regarding the security updates, primarily this is for hacking/bugs right? Had a phone long stuck at Marshmallow and security patch is dated 2016, yet nothing bad has happened to me yet. I am the typical call, text, surf, game user. I strictly dont use my phone for financial or top confidential (except some social media) matter.

  • Clear cache partition from bootloader & factory reset. You'll be good as new.

  • Hello my phone lagging so much after oreo update ehat can ı do

  • What Viral reports do you speak of? By not upgrading you are stopping your phone from getting Android security updates. And that would leave you open to attacks. Staying on nougat means the security patch on your phone is from 2017......

  • Had bought this phone a week ago here in the Philippines. The vendor no longer warranties for 'Damage due to Software Upgrades' due to viral reports regarding the Oreo Upgrade. Wherein this comment section proves to be true. Thus i'm sticking to Nougat. On the other hand, my feedback for my week long use of this phone...... Best Phone for around $300.

  • The secondary screen does not support the new app notification badges. But that is more like a missing function than a bug

  • Are there any bugs in Oreo update? shall I update or stick with Nougat?

  • 1. If your phone is not behaving buggy now. You can do the download, then power of and wipe the cache partition, then do the ROM update. (no need to factory reset) 2. If you already have bugs you want to get ride of, download and install the the ROM, then do the cache partition wipe & factory reset. 3. If you have bugs after the ROM update that you didn't have before, wipe the cache partition & factory reset and do not use old system restore files. Install everything from scratch.

  • All come without the headphone adaptor but all come with the USB-C Usonic ear buds in the box. Performance is excellent. I have this phone over a year now and I don't feel the need to upgrade.

  • all country supply not comes with 3.5mm adapter?how about the performance?is it ok?thanks

  • Do we need to download and update to oreo first before clearing the cache partition and factory reset or shall we do otherwise?

  • Do it, as that is just 1 of many updates you have to get. This phone is on OREO which is 2.21..... It has no bugs in it as I can tell. If you are getting problems after, clearing your cache partition & factory resting will resolve it. As most time it's cause by conflicts by old drivers left over in the cache partition.

  • Hi. Need ur opinion... I just got the u ultra 2 days ago. A notification appears asking me to download software update 1.64.401.3.. Is it a good update to accept.. Or does this new software have any drawbacks.. as battery draining or something else ?

  • For its price, it;s a great phone to get

  • i got the 64, i don't need a big storage coz i'm using 128gb micro sd

  • Here is the heaphone jack solution

  • Here is the video to use any type c to 3.5 mm adapter

  • all country supply not comes with 3.5mm adapter?how about the performance?is it ok?thanks

  • your phone is 64gb or 128gb?

  • i seriously love this phone... specially what ever you are paying for... ok fine i know it got snapdragon 821 but its flagship chip and stil performs like a champ... and come on for headjack 3.5 .... if htc remove headphone jack its bad and apple do is that good ??? this is the only phone with is amazing screen and cool design right now anyone can buy.... i got 128gb version and it works gr8 and i love it in blue 101% recommended

  • I got this phone last week for 290$, and at this price point I definitely recommend this phone, It's got a superb display with a surprisingly great performing camera and the whole experience is flagship-like and very fluid, as for battery performance though, I'd say it's mediocre, but the quick charging really makes up for that, and there's no significant heat problem with this phone, I mean it heats up a bit with heavy usage but nothing out of the ordinary .

  • 1st thing need you to know is, it doesn't comes with 3.5mm audio jack, then no include the type C to 3.5mm adapter in the box. It can be buy separately though. I'm now waiting my accessory to come if can use the 3.5mm adapter with simultaneously charging the phone, I will update here if I get it to work. If you are ok with that, then you are good to go, it function just like a highend flagship phone. Of course, depend on your country, HTC U11 maybe is a better deal, but price different is huge.

  • I definitely recommend this phone because its price is par with the mid-range phones out there yet the specs are for flagship(well, it's htc flagship though) and when my friends said they like my new phone eventhough it has a thick bezel. When it comes to games, i'm playing PUBG, NBA 2k18 and mobile legends so far not experiencing any heat problems. Battery is good based on my daily usage pattern.

  • garbage phone is dead after three months,it was expensive mobile . I m not gonna buy any product from HTC anymore.

  • i am planning to buy this phone, would you recommend this?is there any heating problem when playing online game?thanks

  • Another thing when using the USB type C to HDMI adapter. Only the charging adapter with Qualcomm QC, be it 2.0 or 3.0 can achieve 5V/1A charging while simultaneously using the phone for HDMI display, I found this charging way faster, I have plenty of OEM Qualcomm QC charger, including a Xiaomi powerbank that comes with QC2.0. Otherwise, normal 5V charger, I get way below power, just around 0.3 to 0.5A for charging. Still can charge, but really way slower. Other issue with the adapter with Samsung S8/Note 8/S9, I notice the Samsung Dex mode only activated if the charger power is plug in. If not, you only get screen mirroring features.

  • I don't know if mine was similar to this on the aliexpress website, but it look exactly the same, just minus the brand marking. Mine was non-branded, can't tell which brand I own, just a plain common OEM type C HDMI adapter. The product did look very cheap, but it actually works. For charging, it charge at very slow rate, mind you if you keep plug and unplug, it won't charge properly. Need to keep connected for about 3 to 5 minutes for the ampere to leverage. Mine with original charger, and tested with OEM QC3.0 charger settle at 5V, around.0.9 to 1.1 amp (tested reading actually fluctuate a bit). Tested just now with a Huawei Mate 10 Pro from a friend, and it did launch the EMUI Desktop as well. So, this generic adapter do work with Samsung Note 8 Dex mode (Exynos unlocked version tested) , and Huawei EMUI Desktop on Huawei Mate 10 Pro. For HTC U Ultra, it just have the option to mirror the screen. (Samsung Note 8 and Huawei Mate 10 Pro do have option for screen mirroring) I have compared the quality of the HDMI output from my HTC U Ultra to HTC Connect (Android Miracast) via Wi-Fi, the image quality from HDMI is so much better, without any compression in signal, no signal drop or lag what so ever. I don't know which country you are from, suggested you buy from local store, which you can return if it doesn't work (read at many place not all people get it works, and they do claim some just don't charge) . This purchase from me is just trial error purchase, where all my local smartphone shop don't has this kind of setup to demo.

  • could you post a link to the adaptor you are using? I would like to get one.

  • For Wi-Fi problem, I found that my house has too many electrical signal noise. If I turn off that device (actually an external HDD dock, noise maybe generated when HDD spinning), then no more signal lost. Others issue actually is quite minor by the way.

  • Again, unlike what you said, I did what you have said before posting the comment just now, I stream H264 movie for 2 hours via DLNA, 150mbps wireless N Wi-Fi, then output via HDMI to my plasma TV 1080p/60hz, I also plug in a wireless mouse/keyboard adaptor at USB port, starting from 60% battery, it did full charge the phone around 1.2 hours (the notification LED turn into green colour), and it didn't drain battery from that point, just remain 100%. I think all of us has different condition with the phone.

  • "O" Well, what can I say. just know the problems you mentioned is not normal, on this phone and I have had mine from March 2017. and if a factory reset doesn't fix it, then you have defective hardware.

  • when charging at 1amp and using the phone to stream (movies or use Microsoft office) to the TV over the HDMI and having a cordless keyboard/ mouse combo on the USB-A port the phone still drains and is totally dead in about 2hours. quick charge or 2amps is needed. 1amp just don't cut it for long use. on the U Ultra.

  • I do get a non-branded USB type C to HDMI, with USB A and another USB C power port on the adapter. This one just cost around USD 10. Unlike what you mention, I plug in the original charger, I measure the voltage and ampere, I do get 5V/1A charging. It doesn't detect QC 3.0, but do work as normal charging. The HDMI and USB A works flawlessly. Surprisingly, this cheap adapter can turn my friends Samsung S8/Note 8/S9 into the Samsung Dex mode, and also turn the Huawei Mate 10 Pro into EMUI Desktop. Well, as long as I don't play high graphic game, the charging is the normal speed charging. Play high graphic game will make the charging very slow. However, this HTC U Ultra only can support the normal screen mirroring, detect my TV and output at highest 1080p/60hz mode.

  • I have wipe the cache partition, no luck, these problem remain.

  • battery live is average. it's what to be expected from a 3000mAh battery. don't expect it to last as a phone with a 4000mAh battery would last. my device is not suffering from any overheating problems. I have never seen this phone stop charging because it got too hot. (something I have seen on other phones I have had when carding and using the GPS on a dash mount.)

  • Battery life good or bad in this device ? Is there any over heat problem in this device?

  • You are not going to loose your settings if you wipe the cache partition. What you will Loose is the obsolete/useless juck, as a new page file would be written in the cache partition on the next boot containing only relevant information. If you never wiped your cache partition on this phone before it still has Android 7.0 drivers in it, as not even a factory reset clears the cache partition.

  • Performing the "wipe cache partition" do wipe and reset the apps memory? I know how to do it, just don't know if the memory will be reset, so I may backup my data 1st before doing. I got other working backup phone for doing such action, unless go deeper into something like TWRP recovery.

  • ok try only the cache partition wipe. see my post dated 24apr 2018 to Qadeer do steps 1 - 8 then jump to 11

  • Actually I did a factory reset before I setup the phone, that is still when it is on Nougat. Then, I restore the Whatapps history, other chatting apps record, contact list, and sms. For others storage stuff, I keep in Micro SD card. So I just copy everything into Micro SD card and direct plug into the new phone. Then I start reinstalling almost all the apps that I installed on the previous phone, those game progress are saved by Google Play Games, so I just need to reinstall the games. Then, after 2 days, I receive the Oreo updates, then just update from there.

  • Even if you don't want to do the factory reset part, you can still do the cache partition wipe only. It will help with some of the problems, if not all. By the way, when you fist set up the phone, did you do a restore that was made by a next phone you had?

  • Well, I'm not pinpointing it is an issue of Oreo, because I am using this phone not long ago, and Oreo is updated 2 days after the 1st start up. It may or may not of issue of Oreo. In all respect, everything works just fine, except those minor issues that I mention. The screen actually is not flicker or what, it just having some kind of "screen refresh" after the phone is unlocked. It maybe a good idea to wipe cache and restore to factory setting, but I'm lazy to do that because I have installed plenty of apps. Anyway, pretty much an underrated phone. It is more expensive than an S7 Edge when it is launch, but now it's pricing are reaching the lower midrange level, that even much cheaper than most of the midrange phone from other brand. For those on a budget, this is the phone to get, even though it is not with 18:9 screen ratio, maybe some thick bezel for some, and the annoying missing 3.5mm jack.

  • the display issue you mentioned sound to me like the phone was dropped and the data ribbon is no longer properly connected to the motherboard. the fix would be to heat and remove the back glass and reseat the display connector on the motherboard. none of what you mentioned are known problems with this phone on Oreo. but you can still try clearing your cache partition then factory resetting and manually reinstall your apps. don't use an old phone backup. if you still have the problems after that. its an issue with the hardware in your unit.

  • This is one of the best price per performance ratio phone out there, that even beat the price of Oneplus 3T and Xiaomi's own Mi5s/Mi5s Plus. The only problem will be the missing 3.5mm jack, which is not included in the box, but I have bought one original HTC branded USB C to 3.5mm adapter for around USD11, which works on this phone, and also tested works on Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Some weird thing observed, the WiFi connectivity is not stable on Android 8.0, there is always disconnection happen in the middle while using. Then, when charger cable plug in, and I go to Google Playstore to download or update apps, the download cannot start until I unplug the cable. Then, some weird thing on unlocking the phone where after the phone is unlocked with fingerprint or lock pattern, the screen flashed white for a second. Some weird thing also happen like when I take out the SIM tray and insert back different SIM card or Micro SD card, the whole screen went black, then bricked. I have to push the power and volume- for a while for the phone boot into recovery mode, and choose "restart" option to recover the phone. Maybe someone can enlighten me on these issues. Or maybe those are known issues that need the next software updates. Try to get used to the secondary screen where some time it will turn on certain thing like Bluetooth and Camera while putting the phone in pocket, suspect is due to the secondary screen feature that can simulating some touch when it is accidentally turn on.

  • steps to wipe your cache partition. 1. power off your phone. 2. press and hold the "volume down" and "Power" keys at the same time. 3. as soon as you see the "HTC logo", release the "Power key. 4. when HTC download mode starts you can release the "volume key" 5. you the "volume" keys to go to "reboot to bootloader" then press the "power" key. 6. when the phone reboots, use the "volume" keys to go to "Boot to recovery mode" 7. you should be taken to a screen with the image of the phone with the red triangle warning in it. press and hold the "power" key, and quick tap the "volume up" 8. you the volume key to go to "wipe cache partition" and "power" key to confirm. 9. you the volume key to go to " wipe data/factory reset" and "power" key to confirm. 10. repeat step 8. 11. "reboot system now" and "power" key to confirm.

  • how did you wipe out?

  • duel sim

  • I wipe my cache partition from the boot loader & did a factory reset to get rid of all the Android nougat junk that got left behind and are no longer needed after the update. I have no lag or slow down. I did the update to get a 2018 Android security patch. Other than that nothing new in the ROMs is a big deal to me. Please note by saying on the nougat for this phone is running on October 2017 security patch.

  • Is your htc ultra a dual sim or single sim?

  • i did a wipe cache data after oreo and it just fine ,,, absolutely fine

  • i didn't update it in Oreo yet, after reading all the opinions and experiences after oreo update. Most users are experiencing some lags. I'll stick with nougat for now until they release a stable oreo update. Thanks for the quick response anyway.

  • i didn't update it in Oreo yet, after reading all the opinions and experiences after oreo update. Most users are experiencing some lags. I'll stick with nougat for now until they release a stable oreo update. Thanks for the quick response anyway.

  • its working fine now. I did a clear cache and data in bluetooth system app as well in google play music app

  • It never worked for you or it stopped working after the Oreo update?

  • Yes, it's in maximum volume. I also tried it using my bluetooth speaker but still the same.

  • what do you mean?

  • blue tooth headsets & my car deck both work fine with this phone. this may seem like a stupid question but I have to ask anyway. did you check to see if when connected the Bluetooth volume is all the way up?

  • No sound when playing music using my bluetooth headset. Is there anyone who has the same issue?

  • No sound when playing music using my bluetooth headset. Is there anyone who has the same issue?

  • is it worked ??

  • Updated yesterday to Oreo.Battery life is atrocious. They need to fix this ASAP.Would not updated it if I knew how bad battery life will get.

  • clear your cache partition from Android Recovery menu and then do a factory reset from there.

  • I had this phone more than 4 months now and recently I've got Oreo update after that battery drain very quickly . can anyone help me ..

  • Do A Factory reset

  • No, the Caribbean. I said so in the post right below the one you replied to.

  • Are you living in the Philippines?

  • Try wiping the cache partition from the bootloader / download mode, then factory reset. And do not restore any old phones. If that doesn't help, you may want to look into getting your phone exchanged.

  • I live in the Caribbean. We have 2 seasons. Rainy season & dry season. We are in dry season now and as I'm typing this my phone is 36.7 degrees Celsius Maybe you got a defective phone. Did you buy it new, refurbished or used?

  • Hard factory reset twice already. I bought this a few days ago, so i didn't feel to use on Nougat 7.0, i recieve and just go for up to date software, and now i playing moblie legend game its so laggy, my ping is just well. I just still didn't believe that i playing on a 821 sd and still feel the lag, phone temperature also 45-60. (sorry for my bad english)

  • It should not. So the best thing to do is a factory reset.

  • My phone a bit lags on apps after update oreo 8.0 battery drain. So sad. Can u guys explain me because i just bought this phone a few days ago.

  • Great phone. I descovered Htc, being a long period of time an Iphone and Samsung fan. Htc phones are very well balanced in terms of performance, simplicity. It is very fluid, no stucks like samsung phones. Batery is also at least as good as s7, even better if you optimize all apps with boost+ app that comes with, and use batery saver. In batery saver mode you will not observe any performance drops. Also if you want to save more battery resources you xan disable the second sim card when you do not use. I am very happy with this phone. Buy it.

  • Does anyone know if there is a way to get the notification number back for whats app & Viber after you upgrade to Oreo on this phone?

  • Anyone got Oreo in EU? Poland?

  • Thanks again.

  • On VLC player, inside VLC setting, set the "Background/PiP mode" setting to "Play videos in Picture-in-picture mode". Then when start playing video, press the homescreen will do PiP, or manually select "PiP" option while playing video (the 3 dot button). I don't know how Netflix activate the PiP.

  • Thanks. That worked. Do you have a work around for VLC & NETFLIX?

  • Again, this PiP mode need some trick to work, not all condition can work. For Youtube in chrome, you need to follow the step properly. 1. Type in address m.youtube.com 2. Must select "Desktop site", mobile version won't works. 3. After that play the video, then must set to the video to play in full screen mode, skip this step won't activate the PiP. 4. Only after the video play in full screen in Desktop site mode, press the home button will show PiP of Youtube video.

  • So I just tried YouTube in chrome to see if there was any truth to what you said about the PIP. Surprise, surprise, it didn't work. Did you watch a pixel review of the feature and then came to tell me about it? If you actually have this phone & get it working, please give details to how you did it. So far pip only worked in google Maps but I prefer waze because the map info is more up to date.

  • I really got this phone, now on Android 8.0, 2.21.708.1. I also happen like what you face, not all apps are supporting this PiP function. Whatapps only works on Video calling, not on video playback. Then on VLC player, inside VLC setting, set the "Background/PiP mode" setting to "Play videos in Picture-in-picture mode". Then when start playing video, press the homescreen will do PiP, or manually select "PiP" option while playing video (the 3 dot button).

  • Do you have this phone, or you writing something you read somewhere? I have VLC player. I got it because it was in the PIP list but I can't get it to work. I can't get the Netflix to work pip and it is in the list too. What's app in the list but videos in that don't go pip. So please tell me the steps to get it to work. I don't use chrome because it doesn't have text reflow in desktop mode. I use Opera

  • I disagree on your Picture in Picture feature claim where it is not supported. It is ready to be supported, just that this phone don't has a default custom video player, only the default google photo player that doesn't supported. You can easily download third party video player like VLC player for PiP to work. Then, this PiP also not working like you expected how it works, like Youtube need the Youtube Red subscription, not the normal Youtube account (not available at my country, not just your phone can't do it that way, but all Android 8.0 phone). You can, however, use Chrome browser to browse Youtube video, set "Request Desktop Site", play the Youtube video, then set the video to fullscreen, then press home button, Youtube video will be played on the home screen in PiP mode.

  • If you want the February Android security patch or any kind of patch after that you going to have to do the update. Other than that, in my opinion there is nothing to rush and get 8.0 for. Picture in picture is not supposed in any video app on this phone as yet. and the other changes (I mentioned in a post below) don't make much of a difference in my use of the phone.

  • Got oreo update....any improvements in it?to update r not

  • The Picture in Picture feature may not work like what you expected, it could be bugs on the apps itself rather than the phone. It won't work like we normally used to, some need to manually turn on, and actually only works on certain apps condition (when navigating, when video is played in normal size apps). Give it times, more and more apps will support. However, it is up to apps to support this feature, rather than automatically works on all apps, much like the slit screen feature where not all apps are compatible.

  • Because the phone does not support USB-C PD. when you connect the PD charger, it doesn't know how much power to send to the phone. the result is, only 1mAh is sent to the phone and the rest is sent to the other devices (monitor keyboard mouse). and when your phone is sending video data over the USB-C port, 1 mAh is not enuff and the phone still drains even though it is saying it is charging. and because the adapter doesn't support the quick charge standard, using the charge that comes with your phone also will not let the correct amount of power go to the phone through the adaptor, which results in the phone still draining as you use it on the adaptor. there are USB-C Android phones that support PD, but this phone is not one of them.

  • if you go to settings>Apps>tap the 3dots>configure apps>special app access>Picture-in-picture> you will is the list of supported apps. I would like to use it with Netflix, youtube. but it not working. as for split screen, I use it a lot as it is the only way right now on this phone to get youtube to play and use a next app at the same time. (because youtube will not play in the background if you just use the normal switch apps) (netfix has no split screen support) I also you the split screen when using Waze and it comes in handy with the calculator also. as for how much you can see in split screen, if you change display size to "small" so much more fits on the screen. the (dot) I know it's a google thing but if they going to pick and choose what to support, they could have left that one out. LOL

  • Thanks for enlighten me, just updated to Android 8.0, software number 2.21.708.1, by this afternoon of sudden pop up update, 1.86GB of file size OTA download. Yes, now at developer mode, there is AptX, AptX HD, and even LDAC bluetooth codec to choose, may try at nearer shop or bought a AptX compatible headphone to try. For the USB C Display port on multiport adapter, I read somewhere that the phone will still charging even on USB PD via USB C port, just that it doesn't do QC 3.0 charging. I also has bought a HTC original USB C to 3.5mm adapter, around USD 11, waiting it to arrive and test my old earphone. I also bought many cheap USB C to Micro adapter, for charging with existing cable and QC 3.0 charger. For the PiP of Android 8.0, Youtube need to subcribe to Youtube Red (sorry, premium option). I test on Google Map, it works, after I press the "start" on navigate, and press the home button, a small map screen shown on the home screen (I think is the only apps that get full support on PiP). For video player, VLC player support it, but VLC player can have PiP feature in other Android version, tested on Android 5.0/6.0/7.0 without issue. Then, this PiP feature actually is nothing revolutionary, which has appeared on Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung owns implementation, and ASUS Fonepad owns floating apps, including video player, around 5 years ago. I found that it is more of a gimmicks on smartphone as the screen is small (especially the overhyped Samsung split screen feature), the benefit of multi windowed apps on small screen are very few. Anyway, the app icon's dot that you don't like is one of the Android 8.0 feature, not an issue of HTC.

  • It should but as I don't have a display with a USB-C input I can't test it. but I have used it with a adaptor that was USB-C to HDMI/USB-A/USB-C and was able to connect to my TV and use a keyboard & mouse at the same time. But it was not able the change my phone because it only supported USB PD and this phone is Quick Charge 3 or 4 (I don't remember which one) and has no USB PD support. Yes I see aptx in the Bluetooth codex in developer options. Enable your developer options and see if the Andrio 7.0 on your phone has it.

  • Yes, get all these accessory, just missing the 3.5mm adapter. Bought around USD 269, 64GB. Still stick on Android 7.0, didn't get Android 8.0 OTA, software number 1.64.708.10. Does this phone support USB-C display port and AptX?

  • Follow up to post below. So I see picture in picture in specal app settings but it is not working on my phone. Can anybody tell me if it is working on there HTC U ultra running on Oreo?

  • Quick review of Oreo on the HTC U ULTRA Will its a mix bag of changes as far as i can see and HTC Has some work to do, as some things are missing that are supported in oreo. 1. no new HTC apps. 2. Notification number next to icons have been changed to a notification dot. (i do not like this) 3. Holding down on some icons give you an extend quick access menu for that app. 4. Half swiping notifications now give you a timer to put that notifications on snooze 5. Swipe up anywhere on the home screen to go to the all apps menu. Note the all apps menu icon is still on the home screen and can't be removed or repositioned. 6. Swiping dong anywhere on the home screen no drops the notification bar and then swiping up from anywhere sends it back up. 7. New oreo style icons 8. Icon folders I now Clear, instead of black 9. Comes with February 1st 2018 security patch pre-installed Note: 1. picture in picture is not supported 2. Smart select not supported 3. Fingerprint gestures not supported 4. Auto turn on Wi-Fi feature not supported 5. Notification dots not supported in secondary screen. 6. Still no screenshot icon in the power button menu.

  • No 3.5mm adaptor comes in the box. But you should have also gotten.... HTC branded microfiber cleaning cloth Hard plastic clear phone case HTC branded Sim ejection tool

  • Need to ask is this model doesn't comes with type C to 3.5mm adaptor? I just get the USonic earphone, a type C USB cable, and a wall charger on my 64GB version. The supplied USonic earphone with noise cancelling enhancement do sound awesome though.

  • thnx alot for your loving good things to others... am waiting

  • Finally the oreo OTA update is here for the USA factory unlocked version of this phone. I'm typing this as its download in the background.. When it's done downloading, I'll power off, clear my cache partition, then restart to install it. Will let you all know what i find different in it, in a few days.

  • They both have the same 4gb of the same type of RAM. So slow down due to lack of free space on the ROM is only performance different you could see and ROM fee space would have to drop below 15% before you see that kind of slow down.

  • is it bad !!

  • I see~ thank you. I thought that more rom means a better ram management. Still, thanks for the feedback.

  • The 128gb ROM model has the sapphire crystal glass back which is much harder to scratch. It can still break as its glass but it not going to scratch as easy as the Corning Gorilla Glass on the 64gb ROM model. That and the extra storage space, that's it. Nothing more.

  • Hello, quick question. What is the advantage of having 128gb rom instead of 64gb rom othee then “can store more files". Thanks for the educational.

  • htc u ultra ftw, trust me u will regret if u buy xiaomi on that model, but if xiaomi i suggest mi mix 2 or mi note 3

  • after months of use , im so happy that ive change it for Huawei Honor 9!!!

  • He is saying dual core because he probably tested his and that is what it said. Which only mean he was sold a cheap knock off and don't even realize it. Knock off phones are getting harder and harder to detect by just looking at the outside. It's only the performance or when you open them for repairs then you realize it's not an original

  • The processor is not dual core, its quad core, snapdragon 821, and there is no such a thing like lag. The phone is very fast and responsive, 4 gb ram is quite enough.

  • U ultra is good phone not great comparing to same range phones.touch, sound, moderm speed is good.but display is fill with faded colours.size is too much for 5'7 inch mobile.too much for pocket.some apps ara laging dual core is not even enough to manage syatem apps.there is no gallery.no 3'5 jack.sometimes internal memory not respond to pc.(i7 ,16GB ram).so my opinion is thil twice before buy this.if you looking for beauty then go for it otherwise don't.

  • Follow up. HTC posted a mail update in the play store, it fixed the crashing problem.

  • Go to a phone shop and try them both and see which one you prefer.

  • Could some one try writing an email the the HTC MAIL app & let me know if it crashes as soon as you click on the body of the email to start typing? I need to know if I installed something that screwed up the mail app or if everyone is having the same problem now.

  • htc u ultra will be best

  • Can anybody help me?? Not sure to buy HTC U ultra or Xiaomi mi note 2 Camera performance is important to me

  • Actually I'm new to HTC , I'm going to buy this 4n I heard everybody saying that u ultra is good , but how about its batter life ? After updating to Oreo will batter drain fast ? How to check mobile religion , can somebody help me with these questions ?

  • Htc u ultra 128gb and still no update. Piece of crap. Never buying a htc again.

  • Sorry took this long to reply I hope you got your update by now if not I have got my Oreo update 12 days back i live in Sharjah my phone running smoothly and battery life improved that's the important thing for me hopefully Oreo 8.1 .1 might bright more improvements

  • So how is the update? Any change?

  • from a long time Samsung user, over all very good phone for $305 , battery last for a long time make sure your phone made in Singapore is not bladed with app , fast charging 2 hour max from 10 to 100% for the price it is a excellent deal never got warm or hot on me.

  • hi DKS am also in UAE but no any updates in my htc U Ultra yes

  • Thanks for help bro .my country region is india. I will find correct rom and try this way. Thank you again for help.

  • I don't know the region of your model but using mine as an example (USA model) I can download the latest ROM from HTC USA. and then reflash the phone from a PC by putting it in "download mode", connecting it via the USB cable and using the sync software for the drivers. If you know the correct HTC sight to go for your phone model/reagion, maybe you can download the ROM and do the same. Link for USA model. Note. If you don't have the USA model, DO NOT use the ROM you can download at the link above.

  • Did, battery seems a bit better now.

  • Ok.

  • You just trying help me then no matter.i open the boot loader and then wipe cache after i reset phone. Thats the why what i did.

  • If you don't mind me asking, What where the steps you took to get to the wipe cache partition command?

  • HTC U Ultra is the worst phone in the world. - Touch screen is very sensitive and does not handle clicks as expected. - very small battery capacity. - Very hard to control it because of the huge screen size. - Stucks tooo much. - Problem with cameras. It is the worst phone ever made till now.

  • I did both. But still the same problem.

  • A factory reset is not enough. You need to do a cache partition wipe first to get rid of the corrupted data stored in it that keeps getting restored. Do you know how to do a cache partition wipe from the boot loader?

  • I rest my factory data but reboot problem still occurred . Is my system crashed????

  • Do you know how to do a cache partition wipe & a factory reset?

  • My phone keep rebooting after the android 8 update. Plz sombody help me to fix this

  • You may need to clear your cache partition from the boot loader & factory reset.

  • Weird, I'm facing crazy battery drain after updating to Oreo. I even reset the device after updating.

  • What's your software number now?

  • Figured it out. I have Indian model.

  • Yes, the battery is much improved over 7.0.

  • I'm in US, and my model got updated yesterday. Don't know who to check which region is my model, but I've got it from Hong-Kong.

  • same here!

  • Thanks for the quick response Best regards Raymond

  • Guys I live in UAE I have got my Oreo update last night so far so good no lags buttery smooth app icons looks good

  • 8.0 nd can say that battery is superb!!!

  • Is it 8.0 or 8.1? The only feature I'm interested in is the Bluetooth headphones battery level info meter. Thanks in advance Raymond

  • hows possible... i send it a message to the HTC UK nd today they answeered me ,like they ddnt knw abt the update , nd just today was roll out to EU

  • not it's not worldwide. My USA model doesn't have any OTA updates and the HTC USA download page is still showing the download for October 2017 Android Security Updates as the latest ROM download.

  • i wonder how long before the USA factory unlocked model gets it?

  • Albania Region , EU... but i think will be avail. all the whorld

  • Finally Android Oreo started to roll out to HTC u ultra today

  • 2.19.400.1 new build number

  • what region U Ultra do you have? what is your software number now?

  • gr8 news...just got Oreo Update today!!!

  • screen resolution is controlled by the built-in HTC Boost+ app. all your installed apps are listed in the (optimize Foreground apps tab) and you use the toggle switch by each app to determine which apps you want the rez optimized and which apps you will leave optimization off so it can run at the full 1440 x 2560. there is no manual option as on the S8. and as I said before the power saver modes are only 2. Power saver..... which can be manually turned on or set to auto switch on at 50, 20, 15, 10 or 5% battery life. Extreme power saving mode..... also can be manually turned on or set to auto switch on at 50, 20, 15, 10 or 5% battery life.

  • HTC u ultra defintily

  • AnthOny I've just checked my s8 memory settings and there are 3 to choose from. Currently my phone has 63% battery left and the time available for each setting until exhaustion is - - setting 1 - (the one which I use) - 16hours 22minutes - setting 2 - 20hours 7minutes - setting 3 - 50hours 34minutes there are also 3 screen resolution modes - - setting HD+ - 1480 x 720 - setting FHD+ - 2220 x 1080 - setting WQHD+ - 2960 x 1440 I always use the WQHD for the best resolution because if you've got you may as well use it and enjoy it. I would imagine your Ultra has something similar.

  • The 2 battery saving modes on this phone can be set to auto turn on at a pre set battery % or manually. With the 2nd mode being a extreme mode. That strips the phone down 2 just phone calls, SMS, email, calendar & calculator. The run time is insane with extreme mode on.

  • s8 also has a battery saving mode but I can't say which phone will go further.

  • htc u ultra galaxy a7 2017 mate 9 which the best ?

  • It has 2 battery saving modes & it charges really fast with the included charger. It's not going to last as long as a phone with a 4000mAh Battery. But it will last as long as or longer than the s8 that also has a 3000mAh Battery.

  • HTC U Ultra has 4 hour SOT when browsing web.

  • Hi, I'm going to buy a new mobile, and I found that U ultra has a very good specs. for the price, but everybody here is talking about battery life, is it really that bad, does it has a battery saving mode or so? I'm new to HTC and really have a limited budget, please advice.

  • is gonna be in the forst days of March?? did they say smthng?

  • need to get more people to but contact the live chat. till it is done.

  • Iv been live-chating with one of support guys from Htc and all i got is *Oreo is on the way*. No date, no time frame, just *on the way*. Well, thats something :)

  • Very close as in Very not open Or plans very shut down. Or very cancelled. Maybe that's the kind of close they mean. We in March now.

  • Too bad, Mine is not a USA factory unlocked model

  • I am one click away from creating twitter account just so I can spam HTC account until thet say something meaningful.

  • your guess is as good as mine. but I'm not holding my breath that it would happen, especially now that the 2016 HTC 10 already got Oreo. being skipped over like that is not a good sign. and HTC USA live chat reps are no help with getting info on the matter.

  • but will get Oreo?

  • To date. NO.

  • any Oreo Update for U Ultra?

  • I don't know why you not seeing it, but it is right there in the camera settings. 1. open the camera 2. tap the double dash on the left of the viewfinder to open the camera menu. 3. scroll down to the end of the menu, you will see "settings" with the gear icon. tap it. 4. uncheck the "shutter sound" checkbox. it will then say "off". Note: if you are not seeing it there, then the phone you bought is for a region where by law you can't take off the sound. The instructions I gave is based on the USA factory unlocked model.

  • Why on earth would they not include an option in camera settings to turn off the annoying shutter sound. And the sound while taking screen shot is equally horrid. Battery life is sub par but that is expected because there's barely any space for a bigger battery in this tiny phone. If someone could tell me how to turn off the shutter sound without rooting it..

  • Dude.. this is an HTC feature :D All their phones have the worst battery possible. Surprised someone is saying this in 2018. They have been like this since the first Desire phone, the one that had 512MB RAM.

  • dnt knw wht to say , im disssappoint too

  • A few credible sources said that 8.0 update is scheduled for the end of February.I am not convinced that we will see update any time soon. Its almost end of the month and nothing is happening.

  • I will be surprised if it ever gets it. HTC has all but given up on this phone. November-February, 4 months, no monthly Security patches. The HTC 10 already has Oreo and that is a 2016 phone. HTC USA even stopped selling the phone (Discontinued) last year.

  • U Ultra has a very poor battery life, overall phone is excellent but battery drains very fast.

  • Anyone have an idea that when U Ultra will be getting Android Oreo 8.0 update ?

  • Should I buy HTC U ultra or huawei mate 10 lite Plz help guys

  • Yes. The back camera is great. I would say in the top 5 for 2017.

  • What about the rear camera, is it good???

  • No

  • is it water proof

  • - According to this tweet, Oreo is very close to rollout. (Tweet is in arabic though)

  • I beginning to think it's not going to get Oreo. It's being forgotten because of low sales numbers.

  • does any1 knws whn Oreo update will b release for this device??!! strange cs HTC 10 got it long before this U Ultra

  • 2 days ago i baught this mobile. camera and gaming preformed well.but battery life not enoughfor hard user.

  • yes, it is different from region to region. for one the US version does not support dual sim at all, even though the tray is the same. the supported LTE radio frequencies are different from region to region. the supported languages are different from Region to region. and that is just the things i know about

  • What is the difference beetwen the single and dual sim model variant?

  • yes is there is a option go to dailer call setting choose sim card and you can see additional setting then you can see call waiting option

  • Is there some variations and different models of this phone (different processor eg) or is every model the same. Eg european model vs asia model?

  • Right now in my country Malaysia, this phone just cost around $280.. Very affordable for it's specs..

  • Probably next the security update will be bundled with Android 8.0 update.

  • HTC u ultra still stuck on oct 2017 security patch ..NO further updates ..htc are you serious ?or seriously amenisia ?

  • I have just one question. Does this phone show message "call is waiting" when you try to call someone & they're on another call..?? I find this feature missing in many (or all..??) HTC models. (I'm currently using a HTC desire 820 & my wife used a desire 828. Both were missing this feature)

  • If you like bezels then keep living in the past instead of in the future. Just remember everything changes and moves forward.

  • I have been using for 2 months htc u ultra it really a good mobile. No hang , no heat problem . Batter backup is also good. First I read opinion of gsmarena then I brought this mobile in ksa. Thanks gsamarena.

  • Im using 6. 5 inch but still comfortable.. Htc u ultra is smallers than mine in size which will be still easier to use.. Im thinking to buy one htc u ultra features are great only coz of size people bothering much. All previous years there were no bazzel less fone..

  • HTC Ultra camera is better than HTC 10. It has both lazer & phase detection auto focus. & improved photo processing software.

  • Hi! HTC U Ultra have the same camera like htc 10 and is better than S7!

  • U Ultra. Better display, second screen, better camera, better sound.

  • Hi I was thinking of getting a new phone, my 2 options are the HTC U Ultra and Huawei nove 2i (mate 10 lite). They are both the exact same price . The only real negative I heard from reviews about the Ultra was the price, so now that the price has dramatically reduced would it be worth the buy. The nova 2i on the other hand is a 'mid range' phone so would that mean in performance and quality wise it would be inferior. I really cannot make a choice :/// thanks.

  • htc u ultra has a good camera like s7 edge and g6 or is not so good?

  • I don't care. The phone is great al-rounder and i am happy with it.

  • You don't sound convincing sorry.

  • I have a problem fast drainage of battery any idea ?

  • This phone still worth the money. If I cant decide which 1 to get I might end up with this phone. Thanks for replying.

  • Yes, the phone will get Oreo very soon.

  • May I ask if this phone get an oreo update or not?

  • When we get Oreo update?

  • Hi AnthOny I was not giving an opinion on the camera. I was simply pointing out the contradiction in his statement. I have no doubt that the camera is good. It just seems that he has some minor niggles with his.

  • It will take 2 hours on charge

  • Bad touch and slow writing on the keyboard

  • Bad touch screen and not fast for writing at all. very bad touch on htc u ultra

  • Scorpio I gave a link to a review video of the camera, to "SANDUN" the timestamp of that post was 15 Jan 2018. take a look at it and then give your opinion of if you think it is a good camera or not.

  • What a contradiction. It has the best camera but there are some flares and distortions. Really? I'd hate to think what you consider to be a bad camera.

  • Oh, yes, of course. The picture quality is compatible with s7 edge i think...

  • So, its not a good camera then? Better than the Moto G5 Plus or Mi A1?

  • Hi I've just ordered a HTC ultra u and I've looked on amazon for cases and they do some good ones have a look on there

  • The camera in U Ultra is the best among 2017 phones. But I see some distortion in the corners and occasional flare.

  • not a clue :(

  • Any news about oreo update? Htc 10 already receive 8.0...

  • Thanks! I bought a warranty through Square Trade as well. I think I'm going to pay the $99 deductible and forget HTC.

  • It took HTC 5 or 6 mounts to send me a replacement phone under oh uh protection. And that was after I had already cancelled the request because I got the parts on eBay and got it fixed at a repair store locally. I broke my back glass back in April. Here is the link to the case I use now.

  • I bought my U Ultra from HTC on 3/17. I love it but I think the case is pathetic and no other cases seemed to be available. Well - I dropped it on its corner and the screen cracked and the cracks spread up the back glass. The front cracks are spreading as well. I have been fighting with HTC since October to get an UH OH replacement (good for the life of this model only). 20+ phone calls, chats, and they only tell me they don't know when a replacement will be available - but I bet they have brand new ones ready to sell. Anyway - does anyone know of a better case? I can keep using this phone.

  • owhhh thanks!

  • yes. isn't that a standard feature of Android?

  • Can i block calls and texts with this phone?

  • watch the video and come to your own conclusion about the camera. the battery life will depend on what you use the phone for. but it's not bad.

  • Battry life and camera good or bad plz help ???

  • No

  • any way to get second screen always on

  • Bought the phone in November 2017, So far I don't have any complaints. I use the phone for music, social media and for basic phone use. The battery life is pretty good, starts the day(7am) with 100% battery by the time i'm in bed(3am) it still has 45% battery. It charges really fast as well, I've waited for the battery to go down to 0% and charge it, took it 45 mins to charge fully. As mentioned before I use it for music and the sound quality is great, only downside it doesn't have aux instead uses those usb earphone. So if your car doesn't have bluetooth don't expect to be able to use the phone to blast your music on a road trip. While playing games on ultra settings, I noticed it started to heat up after 35-40 minutes. The UI is customisable to certain extent and there are even themes available if you are the type that like all those kind of things. When your battery goes down to 15% you can set the phone on "extreme saver" where you can use the phone for another 2 hours. I don't get any lag whatsoever no matter how many apps I have open in the background. The secondary screen is useful to some certain extend, maybe i'm not using it to its full potential. So far all i've done with it is to change music, view my events of the day, check the weather without turning on primary screen. THere's something that i've noticed on developer mode, the option to unlock OEM (unlocked bootloader) I think you might be able to install custom os on it without rooting, not sure yet havent use that function yet. Overall I'm very happy about the phone.

  • 4.30 - 5.00 hours. It's ok for me.

  • HTC Ultra's price is now half from its release. Also with its 'target competition' the LG V20.

  • for the price, i would say it is good But if you not looking at price, why buy a phone that came out in January 2017 in January 2018? why not see what better is announced in a month or 2 HTC OS upgrade support is only 18 -24 months, that means there are only 6-12 mounts of support left on the U Ultra. I enjoy using this phone and would keep it for a next 1 to 2 years before I upgrade again. but if I was to break it now. I would be looking at the U11+ or waiting to see what HTC phablet is coming out this year, not running out to buy a phone that is halfway through its life cycle.

  • Is it worth buying in 2018. And what about SOT

  • It would appear HTC is as bad (i.e. slow) with updates and with features that "should be there" for a 2017 phone.

  • U ULTRA still on Android 7.0 1. Apps tray icon can't be removed (no swim up for app tray) 2. No systemwide dark theme (don't know if the theme builder can make the settings background and the notification tray dark but it can change the rest.) 3. It has the selfie cam screen flash option 4. Speakers audio detail is great but volume is not like when it was 2 front facing speakers. still remain meh (a software update can remedy this but Sony chose not to) 5. Camera is fast and has a pro mode but missing spilt mode to record from the front & back camera at the same time.

  • Well, my disappointments with the XZ so far are: 1. Apps tray icon can't be removed 2. No systemwide dark theme (not possible via Themes app or 3rd-party launcher) 3. No selfie cam screen flash option 4. Speakers still remain meh (a software update can remedy this but Sony chose not to) 5. Camera still bit slow to load/ slow shutter + some settings are buried deep in UI 6. Reboot could be faster All of these post-Oreo 8.0 & december security update. Thoughts?

  • yes you can get most of what I mentioned in the play store but this has it without adding load of installing extra apps to get what this UI has by default and is optimised for this phone. if you have no problem with installing apps for UI change, just stay with your XZ as it's not really old yet. Why upgrade to small improvements? Not like you are looking at 2018 phones to upgrade too.

  • I think battery life is very subjective. But I expect a 5.2" (& more) screen of IPS tech to have a 3000mAh the very least. But a 5.2" phone like the Galaxy A5 2017 (the one I have right now) has an AMOLED screen and having seen Touchwiz morped into a lighter UI (Grace UX then to Samsung Experience)I get a solid day & a half (even more) on an average/moderate use. And I watch Youtube going to & from work, I use Google Maps half of my work day, read the news, weather, notes taking, etc. Sony phones (especially my XZ) is excellent in standby time. But kind of "meh" in terms of web browsing, watching Youtube, etc. So so far of all my phones the two best phones with true all-day (& more) battery life is my old Moto G4 Plus and Galaxy A5 2017.

  • I feel half of the things you mentioned a Samsung or a Sony phone can do and half can be "activated" via a third-party launcher. My other concern is with a 5.7" screen the 3000mAh battery seem inadequate.

  • Im on October 1st Android Security update, what is your Sony phone on? There are 2 battery optimization modes. Power saver & extreme power saver mode. (which can be set to auto turn on at a set battery %) Note the battery size is the same as the moto phones you are looking at and HTC phones in general are not as power hungry as say Samsung. I know nothing about Sony phones, I have never even seen one in person. That's why I asked you, why you called the moto phones an upgrade, when on paper it looks like a sideways move instead of an update from your xz. I keep HTC phones 2-3 years before I see the need to upgrade. I wanted to change my SIII after 1 year.

  • That is just my personal opinion after years of using HTC, my old Samsung SIII and a few times of using friends moto G phones. 1. The UI is light with very little redundant apps. 2. There is no UI redraw lag when swiping or going back to the home page. 3. The UI is very customizable thanks to the theme engine on the phone or if you want to build your own theme you can go to HTC THEMES (maker pro) web page. (from a PC). 4. It has the new google assistant and the "OK google" activation can be set to work from any screen including the lock screen. And it can be set to reconize only your voice so other people can't say OK google to activate your phone. And it will type what you say when other people are talking at the same time. 5. The keyboard is skinnable right out of the box. 6. The keyboard can have a dedicated number row. 7. Keyboard auto word suggestions also shows emojis not just words, as you type. Eg. If I type boat, I see the boat emoji as a suggestion along with other words. 8. The all apps grid is 5x6 not 4x5 like the moto phones. 9. The home key, which is also the finger print scanner can also turn on the screen. (no need to press the power button or double tap the screen. Anything more you want to know about the U ultra UI, just ask.

  • How come HTC is better? Does it release security updates every month like Sony? Does it update to the latest Android software quicker than Sony? Does it optimizes the battery life well despite having a lower than expected battery capacity?

  • O Well if it the feel of the UI is important. HTC is better than motorola in that department.

  • True but there are things that i don't like about the UX/UI and software. There are things that are either missing or needs polishing.

  • amazing phone.gud battery,excellent camera,running smooth.all performances r outstanding.previously i had HTC desire 816..that was also gud.im a HTC fan.i never go for other phones.i strongly recommand htc

  • Why not just stay with the XZ you have? What's wrong with it?

  • There is a big discrepancy in the U Ultra's pricing from an expensive £549 (at Argos) to £349 (at Carphone Warehouse) to only £299 (at Amazon). Prices are at GBP and very unstable and may change time to time. I'm also choosing between the old school/budget Moto G5 Plus and OnePlus 3T. Yes I know the XZ has water resistance but If I am careful with them that's no problem. The XZ may have front firing speakers but the overall volume/loudness isn't what I want from a smartphone. I find the G5 Plus' camera better than the newer G5S Plus for many reasons. And I know OnePlus 3T is still a solid choice.

  • The 2 moto phone are good but not better than the Sony phone you already have. The CPU is not as good. they have mono speaker . They are the same screen resolution.and the charging ports are USB 2. They are good phones but not upgrades to what you already have. The ULTRA cost the most. But has higher resolution, bigger screen, boom sound, more RAM, faster CPU. quick charge 3. So it would feel more like & upgrade unlike the moto phones.

  • I know for sure the US factory unlocked one is single sim. The tray can hold 2 Sims but the software don't support the feature.

  • I have got mine with only 250 euros in Germany. Price is amazing now for the phone.

  • is every model global model or there is some model for China or other markets? I just know that there is sigle and dual sim version

  • I just got mine for 272USD I'm in love with this device!

  • HTC U Ultra: £349 - Carphone Warehouse £299 - Amazon (UK) website Moto G5S Plus £239 - Moto (UK) website £259 - Amazon (UK) website Moto G5 Plus £199 - Carphone Warehouse £249 - Argos

  • What are the prices you getting the phones you mentioned for?

  • I'm trying to sell off my Xperia XZ to get a cheaper (and better?) phone with the HTC U Ultra, Moto G5S Plus (or G5 Plus). Further comments?

  • This phone is excellent in the performance department. It's selling cheap because it has to compete with the U11+ which is a better phablet from HTC. It's cheaper because the bad reviews it got earlier in the year because of the high price. It's cheaper because it's going to be a year old in a few days. None of those things affect the excellent performance and in the top 10 cameras.

  • Same story here, i bought on amazon de 250euro. Great phone so far ;)

  • There is a recent report online that HTC and Motorola phones don't slow down their phones' performance as time goes by in relation to the batterygate scandal involving Apple. Would you guys agree? The HTC U Ultra has gone way cheaper than before and do you think this is a good choice of phone now it is cheaper? I'm a bit worried the quad-core processor may not be up to task especially with general performance, memory management, app loading and battery life. And how's the camera of the U Ultra? U Life a better option as it is octa-core?

  • How about battery life

  • paintbuckets, thanks for reply, its really rich.

  • Both phones have identical specs. Camera wise, both seem good but the LG has an edge due to the secondary wide angle lens. Size wise, The G6 will be smaller to hold due to minimal bezels and it's IP68 rated, The U Ultra isn't. Both have mediocre battery life, g6 in spite of having 300mAh more than the U Ultra. Oh, and the G6 has headphone jack. It's upto you to decide which one you want.

  • What do you mean by light sensor?

  • So I bought the U ultra and I can say that the WIFI strength is great! It's even better than my M8 Eye

  • The Htc u ultra have light sensor? Thanks

  • Im thinking of buying htc u ultra or LG v20. Done some researched but still cant decide which one to pick. Anyone can give recommendation please

  • Htc U Ultra vs LG G6? Whats your recommendation?

  • Htc U Ultra vs LG G6? Whats your recommendation?

  • How much screen on time you have when is on mobile internet?

  • Try raise the volume and then click on the bell icon twice

  • just one sentence this is very very good end.

  • Wi-Fi on the U Ultra is excellent. I upgraded from the HTC ONE MAX and in room I get Wi-Fi problems on that all metal phone, I have no problems with this glass back phone. The ironic thing is the only con the U ultra has when compared to the 10 is the very same glass back. It makes the U Ultra less rugged than the 10.

  • Yeah, wifi is the only reason why I'm not considering the 10. Let's hope that U Ultra doesn't have this dreaded issue too. :D

  • Wow, thanks for the info regarding weak wifi of 10. Wifi is a big thing for me, and weak signal is surely a big no-no. Regarding the battery, well, HTC is known to be the poor in this section. lol. Hope someone would comment about the wifi reception for Ultra.

  • when my htc u ultra will gets android 8.0 (oreo)?? this is not fair i've bought this device with 700$ and now most of other devices has upgrade

  • I'm Too F** Pissed of - When My HTC U Ultra Gets The Last Android 8.0 ? I've Bought it about 5 Months ago with 700$ !!! THIS IS NOT FAIR NOT FAIR

  • I don't own any of the two devices, But I have done research on both because I'm planning to upgrade from my M8 Eye lol. All I know is that the 10's WIFI is very weak and the battery degrades pretty fast. I haven't heard about these issues on U Ultra though. The only disadvantage I see in U Ultra is the size.

  • I've charged it 3 times and it seems to improve on every charge I had so far. I had the redmi note 3 pro, so the battery cannot compare but it's fine, if you are a moderate user it should last you all day. I can't say much now, but It's improving, and the charger it's pretty quick. It can charge in about 1h to 1h30. Im very happy with it. It has cons but nothing that other phones don't have.

  • How's the battery Performance...

  • I am considering getting HTC Ultra over HTC 10, what are the pros and cons for the Ultra vs 10? I am a moderate user (Wifi, data, games, videos, camera). I liked HTC quality, I have my Desire Eye for more than 3 years now. I guess its now time for it to retire, thus considering on another HTC as its successor. :P

  • Which Is the best phone htc u ultra or moto z2 play

  • I just bought it for 250 euros ^^. I hope the battery is fine for me.. Bought the blue one :).

  • Now that the price has been slashed (in my case, it has finally been slashed up to 50% off the original price), HTC U Ultra can now be considered a good buy.

  • Thinking about buying this phone from ebay. Is it a good device for 350 dollars? Looking for suggestion...

  • I can buy this thing for 280 euros now. Is the battery really enough at least for one day? Im a moderate user some days. For the price the only thing I see competing with this is the axon 7. The specs are really good for the price, and despise being big I think I could get used to it. It has all I want spec whise, what I fear is battery life, and the handling of the phone because of the size. What do you guys tell? Thx!

  • Thankyou for your support :)

  • Yes it performs well in every way. Design you have to judge your self (I wish the back wasn't glass but most flagship phones now have glass backs) Look at the spec and see if the size works for you. Yes the camera is good.

  • I was asking for overall good phone which is good in performace size design as well as camera.

  • If the only criteria you gave us is the price, then it is for you because it's at the price you want. You said nothing about what you looking for in a phone other than price.

  • Hello. I was looking for a phone under $350. This phone now costs $350 in my country. Is this good for me? Any other suggestions? Thanks

  • I am impressed by all the features this phone has. Battery life is good as a heavy user could use this phone whole day. Camera features are excellent in pro mode & selfi camera is unbelivable even in low light. Having nice gestures excellent headset i have ever seen. Qhd display and all the things are pros so far

  • It's a good phone and worth the money. It's getting the Orea update and it can be bought for not too much money now.

  • Is the U ultra worth for 300 euros? It's the best phone I can buy for thet price. It's big but I was willy to trie it out.

  • HTC u ultra cause it's processor is higher than huawei mate 10 lite

  • Guys any suggestions about htc 10 evo. I ordered already on black Friday sale. But as its 810* which has heating issue anyone who has used it. Especially thanks for Anthony for Las last post i bought that time moto z. Still using xiaomi mi max only things its handling coz of size. Should i cancel the order or any other suggestions. I ordered for Aed 599. Thanks

  • What are you even looking for in a phone?

  • htc u 11 life, htc u ultra or the 100 $ cheaper xiaomi mi a1?

  • So at the end I bought U Ultra and Galaxy S7 Active.

  • the mate 10 has "Lite" in the name for a reason. The U Ultra is a Flagship. the U11 life is the "lite" version of HTC phone for 2017.

  • Which is better to go with: HTC U Ultra or Huawei Mate 10 Lite?

  • Yesterday I finally bought one. There was a good deal on ebay: Brand new U Ultra for $339 - 10% ebay bucks - $10 coupon, 3% cashback from ebates, paid with discounted gift cards which I bought with at least 10% discount. Total: 339-10-33.90-10.17-32.9=$252.03. Great deal!

  • I can get this beautiful phone for 289 euro with a black friday deal, but I don't have the money to spend for it now. Great deal though!

  • so I lost my U Sonic earbuds. that would have really hurt if it was a $100US+ headphones. got my new replacement Usonic earbuds today and I'm back in business. only cost $12US on eBay. something to think about for the people that are bashing USB-C headphones. They sound great and cost a lot less then what you would pay for the equivalent sound from the old school jack.

  • What the heck is that all about. Bits and pieces of other peoples posts? What point are you trying to make.

  • Android 8.0.1 1. ZTE Axon 7 SGD300 2. Sony Xperia XA1 Plus SGD400 3. Samsung Galaxy J7 pro SGD $350 4. Huawei Mate 10 Lite SGD SGD398 5. Lenovo P2 SGD300 6. Moto Z Play SGD300 7. Oppo A77 SGD SGD345 8. Samsung Galaxy s8 1. with what my normal day use is, I got about 1 hour more on the ONE MAX (this is not just screen on time I'm talking about) 2. there is no option to scale resolution 3. they are relatively the same size, but you can feel that the U Ultra is thinner. Samsung Galaxy s9 HTC u12 And HTC 12 HTC mobile os Samsung Galaxy s10 iPhone 11 Hi AnthOny it's really quite amusing to see that what suits one doesn't necessarily suit another. To you the U11 is too small and the U Ultra is just right. For me the U Ultra was far too big and even the U11 is too big after my s6. I have a friend who has a U Ultra and another friend who has just bought a U11. Neither of them impressed me from a size perspective, particularly the large bezels. The iphone8 was a huge disappointment being simply the same body wise as it's predecessors. So I bit the bullet and went for an s8 and have no regrets. Initially I had battery discharge issues after an update but I went to Samsung and they re-loaded the software. Now all is good. Had the U11 been in a more compact body then I may well have chosen it but having said that I am perfectly satisfied with my choice. Neither phone is bad and I would doubt that one is better than the other. It is simply a matter of personal choice body-wise - you chose the larger one, I chose the smaller one and we are both happy. Iphone12 You need to stop buying fake/knock off HTC phones and then saying it sucks. If you used a real HTC U ULTRA you would never say it sucks. Especially if you like the HTC UI. And the camera is one of the best from HTC.

  • Found one for $329 online, ebay has a few for $345, but waiting for some ebay promo + 8-10% ebay bucks.

  • 1. check your volume controls to see if all are at 100% tap volume up> on the ON-SCREEN slider tap V to expand all sliders to make sure they are all at 100%. 2. do a hardware test of your speakers. go to the app draw and open help>tap on hardware misbehaving >hardware dianostics> Audio test. 3. as it's a new phone you just got if the 2 above are ok, it most likely a glitch from doing the updates without clearing the cache partition or from restoring apps from another phone restore. copy files you want to keep to your SD card. go to the bootloader and wipe the cache partition then factory reset and restart. manually install your apps. DO NOT DO A RESTORE FOR APPS. once everything is installed, working, then turn on "back up my data" if you don't know how the clear the cache partition, just ask. hope this helps.

  • Htc u ultra i buy just for before one weeks that phone some times youtube dnt play whatsapp voice msg dnt ply, mobile ringtones can't play what is that problem i dont know you know?

  • I'm seeing it on eBay for $353US

  • Carousell :) It's sold so the cheapest U Ultra you can find is about $450

  • Can you share where can you get U Ultra for SGD 380?

  • I hear you. Every new version of the sense UI, they just strip more & more things out of it. Quick lunch has lost sound profiles, User profile, glove mode, Sync all, screenshot just to name a few.

  • Thanks Anthony. It works...but personally I find it makes the overall experience kinda cluttered. Coming from Winfone and Miui ecosystem which does provide easy tools for this, I find the HTC's lack of in built quick shortcut for the volume toggle quite perplexing... Anyway not a huge showstopper...

  • @ toffeemoose Follow up to my post below If you don't want the toggle bar that was made showing up on the lock screen..... Go to the bar in your notifications area> side it to the side halfway>tap the settings gear you see>tap more settings> set on the lock screen to.... Don't show notifications at all BTW the toggle to jump between volume/ Silent/ Vibrate is called volume toggle.

  • Go to the playstore and install POWER TOGGLES when you open it, go to the notifications option and turn it on. Tap customize and add as much toggles you want to your notification bar. Note: if you are using boost+ you must go in it and in the optimize background app section and turn off optimization for power toggles. If you don't, boost+ will keep closing the notification area quick lunch bar you made. Let me know if this meets your needs.

  • I can also consider LG G5, OnePlus 3T and LG V20 :)

  • Hi, I am considering this phone. I am from Singapore and the price is SG$380 which is USD280. It's really a good budget phone for me but there's also other phone for me to consider, which is... 1. ZTE Axon 7 SGD300 2. Sony Xperia XA1 Plus SGD400 3. Samsung Galaxy J7 pro SGD $350 4. Huawei Mate 10 Lite SGD SGD398 5. Lenovo P2 SGD300 6. Moto Z Play SGD300 7. Oppo A77 SGD SGD345 There's too much option for me, so please help me decide with one is the best. Hopefully the phone is upgradable to Oreo. Thanks!

  • Just got this set after a massive price slash (nearly half). Its really an awesome phone for this price... My only gripe is that I could not find a quick handy shortcut (other than in secondary display when main display is blank/disabled), to go into silent mode.. HTC manuals state to press the Volume UP button twice, but could not get it to work. Other than that...its very decent especially the sound :D ...

  • Well I think you shouldn't be in dilemma, as a HTC user without problems I think the best is to stick with HTC and go for this U Ultra. It's cheaper and really beautiful. I was informed this phone is getting the oreo update as well.

  • I am in dilemma between HTC U ultra ( $360) and Huawei Honor V9 ($550) . I use HTC one max and M8( Primary - No hiccups until now) .

  • I narrowed down my choices to U Ultra, Galaxy S7 Egde and Galaxy S8+. I need to buy 2. I will probably buy one U Ultra and one Galaxy S7 Edge or S8+. U Ultra is around $300, S7E is around $300 and S8+ is around $450

  • Is saving 80 Euros worth having a smaller screen at a lower rez lower PPI & lower contrast ratio? will a snapdragon 625 be worth the 80 Euros savings? are you Ok with not having OIS on your camera to save 80 Euros and what about Audio quality? you willing to sacrifice that too? that is what you dealing with if you go with the Mi A1 between the Ultra and the 8... which screen size you like more? which UI do you like more, or that doesn't matter to you? and which speakers do you like more? all the rests of specs are too close to call in real-world use.

  • I can get this phone for 290 Euros. The review for it was positive, except for the Price... Which is not a factor anymore. So, please, suggestions: Do I save 80 Euros and get a Xiaomi Mi A1 (210 Euros) or do I pay 170 Euros more and get the Nokia 8 (460 Euros)? Other phones are either not available or interesting to me. Thanks!

  • Aadrian what phone are you using now?

  • Yes a good price I am also thinking of buying this phone for 339 euro.

  • Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. I believe HTC would provide three major software updates for this fabulous device .

  • as someone that used the ONE MAX for 3 years & now the U Ultra for 8 months, this is my comparison opinion. 1. the screen of the U Ultra looks like AMOLED in comparison to that on the ONE MAX 2. the 5x6 grid of the app drawer is much more useful than the grid in the ONE MAX. 3. the loudspeakers on the U Ultra can play with more detail but the ONE MAX is noticeably louder. 4. the U sonic earbuds are much much better in volume and audio quality than the buds you get with the ONE MAX. 5. the fingerprint scanner on the U Ultra can wake the screen and unlock the phone all in one touch. Using the Boost+ app that comes with the phone you can add fingerprint lock to individual apps. but when the scanner is not clean I think the one on the ONE MAX works better. 6. charge time is about half that of the ONE MAX. 7. camera picture quality, OMG. if the U Ultra is a 10, that would make the ONE MAX a 2. 8. software i miss from the ONE MAX is the camera (split capture mode). HTC photo album, which allowed me to see photos on the map & take stills out videos. 9. the U Ulta default keyboard supports skins and has a dedicated number row but the dedicated arrow keys were removed. would have been nice to have both. 10. the secondary screen I now use for only 2 things. Music control without leaving the running app & quick access to social media apps. because of the second screen, i don't even leave chat preview on in viber or whats app as I can get the notification & reply from the second screen. 11. "ok google" can wake your screen and unlock the phone and it only responds to your voice even if other people are talking at the same time. this is so cool as i can ask the phone to do stuff or dictate text when other people are talking and it will still get it correct. and i like that my kids or wife can't say ok google to open my phone. hope this helps HTC ONE MAX owners that wanted to know.

  • I upgraded from the ONE MAX 1. with what my normal day use is, I got about 1 hour more on the ONE MAX (this is not just screen on time I'm talking about) 2. there is no option to scale resolution 3. they are relatively the same size, but you can feel that the U Ultra is thinner.

  • I can buy u ultra for $330 brand new should I buy it or not plz tell me

  • What about the battery life of U Ultra compared to one max ? Is there an option to scale down screen resolution.I did not get a chance to see this mobile in real. Is it relatively smaller than one max ?

  • Don't waste any more time with that trole. Clearly he has never used the oneplus 5 or the U ultra, if he is bad talking the U ULTRA & recommending the oneplus 5 for camera bump, waterproofing & finger print scanner size. And both if them are in the same boat.

  • What about 300 USD?

  • 339 euros for this phone is too much.

  • O, be real man for 339 euro are you telling me... 3000mAh is too small when you only getting 300mAh more on the onepluse 5 you can't talk about the battery being too small until you start recommending phones with 4000mAh batteries and the included usonic earbuds are way better than what you getting with the oneplus 5, hands down, no questions asked. now I know you are trolling if 0.7mm thicker makes it unacceptable. and talking about not being waterproof, when you recommending a phone that is also not waterproof. talking about a camera hump but recommending a phone with a camera hump. There is no light bleed on the 2 units I have. speakers are great. (could be front facing but defiantly not tinny) and I broke my back glass on 1 and replaced it my self, so I know for a fact that the broken glass I took off was laminated on the inside. if you have some hidden need for everyone to buy a oneplus 5, what can I say. but don't just make shit up. or find problems where there is none. Your finger could be as big as a lollipop, it would still work just fine with the fingerprint scanner. go be happy with your low res, low ppi, jello effect, no SD card, small screen & single load speaker oneplus 5 and stop trolling, as your grips with the U Ultra are not based on the reality of value for money spent. then again you probably don't even have a oneplus 5 if you didn't know it also had a camera hump and isn't waterproof as well.

  • Small battery capacity, no headphone jack, awful capacitive buttons, too thick which a massive camera hump, really small fingerprint scanner, no water resistance, light bleed, speaker is tinny at higher volumes, back glass is unlaminated.

  • But how is the oneplus 5 going to give Aadrain the secondary screen that he/she said they like? What is better for you or me is not best for everyone. I would say HTC sense is the best UI but that's because I like it. I would say the oneplus 5 screen is to small but that's because I like big screen phones. So what makes you think the oneplus 5 is 100 times better for Aadrian? Aadrian asked if the price was worth it, can you say something about the HTC U ULTRA that is horrible to make it not worth the price?

  • It's cheaper and about 100 times better

  • AnthOny I think you mean a commission.

  • Why is it so important to you that aadrian gets a oneplus 5? Do you get a commotion or something?

  • no! don't! get a oneplus 5 instead! please!

  • this is pertaining to what again?

  • I mean Android System is not upgrading.

  • I saw the HTC U Play also has a lower chipset and is running marshmellow, so I think it's not getting 8.0. Better to go for the U Ultra I guess. Such a beautiful phone.

  • have a read of what I read. I know nothing more.

  • Thanks, what about the U Play? I like the second screen on the U Ultra but the size of the U Play, though I don’t want to get stuck with a device not getting the Oreo update. This U Ultra was priced over 500 euro last week, now it’s for sale for 339 and that is cheap for a phone like this. Too good of a chance to not let it go.

  • yes it's worth it & yes it's going to get Oreo. It was announced that the U11, U ULTRA & 10 are getting Oreo.

  • This beautiful phone can be bought for 339 euro in blue, is it worth to buy it? WIll HTC update this phone to android Oreo?

  • I would never say a battery is too big if there was a zerolemon battery case for this phone I would slap it on, no questions asked. I would take the extra bulk in exchange for having to plug in less. the 3000mAh is not horrible but 4000mAh or a battery case would be nicer.

  • Have you used Mimax 2,Lenovo P2 and Xiaomi Redmi note4? First use them then give opinions. In daily use you will not find any difference any difference. Everyone wants a big battery except you. Nobody wants to charge their phones every now and then. Unless if have dash charge. Brands are size conscious and for that reason they keep the thickness slimmer and use low capacity battery.

  • And what makes u say 3000mAh isn't enough? It is using a SNAPDRAGON 821 which is still a efficient chipset built on a 14nm process, u are still gonna get good battery life no matter what. Don't u see why most newer smartphones are decreasing the battery capacity? I wonder why some people like u complain about the battery capacity, like why??? Are u guys who complain about the battery capacity some kind of heavy battery user? If this is the case then I will say "Sorry dude, there are no high-end flagships suitable for u, or even mid-end flagships since battery capacities these days are around this smartphone capacity range." I think u shouldn't even get a smartphone, because the very low-end smartphones even though they have mostly bigger battery capacities, the chipset given are efficient ones, so if u use it for very usage, it is still going to run out of battery fast. Have some common sense before complaining about the battery capacity

  • Yes, I was watching a lot of reviews comparing U Ultra and U11. U11 is pretty good, but I think U Ultra is a bit better especially in low light. Right now I'm planning to buy a new phone and I'm considering the following: HTC U Ultra, U11, Galaxy S8+, Moto Z2 Play(unlikely). I'm leaning towards U Ultra because it's the cheapest and has the best camera with the biggest sensor out of all those models. The rest of them has 1/2.55" sensor (probably IMX362 or IMX333), while U Ultra has IMX378, same as Google Pixel 1, but with OIS. Pixel 2 went to the same IMX362 sensor like the rest of the flagships. Moto Z2 Play lacks OIS, but they have some interesting moto mods (Hasselblad True Zoom is not one of them). Also I almost always carry Canon G9X II with me, so the phone camera is not that important anymore, but still. Waiting for Black Friday to catch some deal. Right now I can buy U Ultra for around $300.

  • i think u ultra but in night lg v20 ...and front camera which is best

  • HTC phones ..ughh...thick bezels ...only 3000 mah battery... time has come for HTC to go for full vision display and big batteries.

  • You are are entitled to you opinion. My opinion is based on how poor HTC cameras use to be back in the days of the HD2, ONE, M8. HTC was never known for great cameras. That changed with the 10. and in my opinion the U Ultra is much better than the 10. You can look at the comparison video link I left In a earlier post. And after looking at J. Williams blind camera test that had both the ULTRA & U11 in it.... That's why I think it's "almost" the same. What's your reason for saying they are not?

  • And it's not "almost".

  • You tell me which looks better between the 10 VS U ULTRA. watch the video in it's highest quality.

  • read my post again. I think your eyes didn't see the very important word "ALMOST" And I was talking about "quality" not "components". You misunderstood that word in my post as well.

  • Watch this video in 1089p output and you decide which looks better to you.

  • No, the camera is not the same. Ultra has a 1/2.3" sensor with 1.55 micron pixels, and U11 has a 1/2.55" sensor with 1.4 micron pixels.

  • htc U Ultrs vs lg v20 vs htc 10 which is batter in camera .my priority is camera .front and back camera need good . plz hlp me .i want to buy a phone but i am very confusion in this three??

  • The HTC U11 got a 90 score on dxomark. And the camera quality is almost the same on the HTC U ULTRA. Or the same to the untrained eye.

  • How is the camera compared to S7 edge and LG G6?

  • I don't see an option to pick the frame rate. you can only pick the Audio and Video quality MMS/QVGA/HD/FHD/4k & 3D audio & High-res Audio. there is also Hyperlapse & slow motion.

  • there is 1080p 60fps video recording? thanks

  • If I was buying Samsung I was going with the note 8 Because of it's size & the pen. If it could write and save on PDFs that would be very useful to me. What I'm afraid of with Samsung phones, is it's reputation of starting to lag after six months of ownership. So I couldn't even think about the note 8 till 2018 "after the hype" reviews come out. As for UI, HTC wins hands down. And with the "maker pro" theme designer on the HTC themes web page. Making a custom theme down to a granular level is so easy and can't be matched by any other OEM to date. These days it's hard to find a bad phone that cost more than $400US. so you have to make your choice based on the little things that better suit you.

  • Hi AnthOny it's really quite amusing to see that what suits one doesn't necessarily suit another.

  • Honor 8 pro/v9 is better than this for money.

  • U11 is not for me. 5.5 screen is too small. And I enjoy having the secondary screen for social media apps But with the pixel 2 xl htc has shown they can still fit the front facing speakers and a bigger battery in a shell that is not bigger than the U ULTRA So I want that in a U Ultra 2 in 2018. They have no excuse to why we can't get back the front facing boom sound.

  • I think U11 is better overall than both Pixel 2s

  • talk about a slap in the face the Pixel 2 XL that is manufactured by HTC gets front-facing stereo speakers and a 3520mAh battery in a smaller and thinner body... HTC better come good with there flagship phablet in 2018

  • there is nothing wrong with the U Ultra but I just think as you already have an HTC phone that is only 2 months older than the U Ultra, unless you are having hardware problems you should wait to see what the U Ultra 2018 will have to offer. that is only 3 mounts away and if you not impressed you can still buy the U Ultra 2017 but by then it should cost even less.

  • sorry the post was intended for "Smart" who is upgrading from a HTC Desire 10 Pro

  • sorry the post was intended for "Smart" who is upgrading from a HTC Desire 10 Pro

  • Which "that phone" are you referring to? Blackberry Priv is from November 2015, and it uses Snapdragon 808.

  • Bcoz HTC D 10 Pro dont have opposition for update system.

  • Gawd , when my U Ultra is gonna get the September Security Patch ?( Because I'm worried about the BlueBorne Virus) It's so sad to see HTC not delivering software updates on time . Hope the Google Acquisition of HTC can help in better & faster software updates .

  • You need to stop buying fake/knock off HTC phones and then saying it sucks. If you used a real HTC U ULTRA you would never say it sucks. Especially if you like the HTC UI. And the camera is one of the best from HTC.

  • trust me don't buy it u will get a big disappointment this phone sucks the camera quality is poor.

  • Both phones are HTC and that phone is only 2 months older than this phone. what is your reason for wanting to upgrade from that to this?

  • Hello Friends i am using HTC Desire 10 Pro . its nice & Cool Phone & I am playing to buy HTC U Ultra. it`s good Phone Or note ? waiting for comets .... ....THANKS....

  • Hi, I'm thinking to buy U Ultra, because is has the best camera right now from what I found. The biggest sensor (same as Pixel) and OIS. That's all I need. Right now I'm using Blackberry Priv, which also has pretty good camera, but it's getting slow. Also no update to Nougat. How is the camera compared to Priv? I compared them here in a comparison tool, and it looks that U Ultra is mostly better or the same as Priv, except for the lower left corner, where Priv is significantly better. The price is about right for U Ultra, it's just around $350, but it woule be ideal to get under $300. I may wait for BF/CM. Also how it compares to HTC 10? I found the camera on HTC 10 to be worse (from samples) that both U Ultra and Priv. But 10 has audio jack (which I rarely use). I previously owned good camera phones such as Nokia 1020, Galaxy K Zoom and Panasonic CM1.

  • Yes Im aware that the HTC U Ultra may be a rip off of the LG V20, but in my opinion it looks better than the V20. The U ultra seems like a great phone but the price is not very agreeable

  • Thanks Anthony. So I go with Htc u ultra and moto z .

  • To long time users of HTC phones that miss the HTC ALBUM. I have started using "Piktures" it's the closest I have found the the HTC ALBUM viewer so far. If you guys know of a better one, please share.

  • According to what you said your needs are the U Ultra will meet them. buy it if you like it. I don't think you would be disappointed

  • Hello, I am pretty much in the same boat today in Saudia, my short list was eventually reduced to HTC 10 (1099SAR) HTC U Ultra (1249SAR) and LG V20 (1249SAR), while I excluded mid-range options such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4/Mi Max 2 and Moto Z Play and because of lack of support, even here. HTC 10 - my immediate first-choice, Oreo upgrade virtually guaranteed, reasonable improvement in battery life and camera performance after a few updates, the retention of a headphone jack (something I'am beginning to find scarce!), and further customization down the line with custom ROMs (Currently running nougat on Galaxy Note 4 through LineageOS). Sturdy metal construction and black and silver combo would be nice. OIS on the front camera for great selfies and videos. HTC's Sense is the best OEM skin because of its closeness to Stock, which I find perfect. If I don't find the other two at the prices you mentioned, going to jarir to pick this up. HTC U Ultra - Interesting proposition compared to the 10 at only a 150 SAR difference, but no headphone jack, fingerprint magnet of a rear surface, and virtually no custom ROM support at xda should the notoriously unreliably HTC software division fail to provide the update to Android P or Q. Difficult choice, but my first choice nonetheless if I can find it at the price you mentioned (Hope you could give me a hand with some stores who sell it at 1249SAR). 150 SAR difference is more than worth the (slight) improvements. Also I have wireless earbuds and the battery endurance ain't too bad LG V20 - Media Monster, Quad DAC, three microphones, nougat out of the box with almost guaranteed 2 android version updates, easily would've been the first choice but for one problem - the fated bootloop issue and russian roulette style of affecting devices. The device has been added to the class-action lawsuit involving the G3/G4/G5/V10. I had a wonderful experience with the LG G Pro 2 (Note 3 competitor), but this is a big investment for me and having it die one day would be dreadful. So its U Ultra or 10 for me, Hope this helps bro!

  • Guys suggestions from Htc 10 (Aed 1099) Htc u ultra (Aed 1249) , moto z(Aed1000) , Sony Xperia xz (Aed 1429) , Lg v20 (AED 1299) , lg g6 (AED 1599), Huawei mate 9 (1599), Huawei p9 (1099), Huawei p9 plus (Aed1149), please waiting for reply I have to by by 30 September. Or any other suggestions. Kindly reply. Thanks . I need a fast browsing, good screen, excellent camera. I prefer snapdragon processor, but if other with different chipset . Currently using Xiaomi mi max snapdragon 650. I want to buy 2 . I shortlist moto z and Htc u ultra. But I need ur suggestions. Thanks guys

  • Why this HTC ultra is so hot on most application

  • Specs & Performances wise. Although features are not up to date.

  • I find it strange that you say the G6 has better battery life but on the GSMARENA spec sheet it has a battery endurance rating that is 9 hours less than the U Ultra. Are you using the LG as much or doing the same things you did on the U Ultra?

  • What do you like about the screen size? Bigger viewing space? Smaller viewing space? That it's long and thin? Do you find the front and back cameras take better pictures than the U Ultra? Bezels not a thing for me. And I use this phone with one hand when I need to. What about the other things? Video colour/contras Speaker quality speaker volume Ear buds sound Audio recording quality Call audio quality Style of UI Smoothness of interface How do you rate the 2 phones for each?

  • screen.bezel less.dual camera.battery life.one hand use

  • Could I ask you, what about it you find to be better?

  • i have sold my htc u ultra to get lg g6.the g6 is far better

  • Fantastic phone. I've returned my G6 to get the U ultra because I didn't like the narrow display of the G6. The U Ultra is an amazing phone with great sound quality, excellent camera, nice big and bright display, blazing fast performance and good battery life. I would recommend this phone to anyone who's looking for a phablet with a 'normal' screen and without those ridiculous narrow 18:9 aspect ratios like on the G6 and S8 with black bars while watching videos. Great bang for buck too with this U Ultra.

  • Anth0ny Hi, im intersted in buying a phone, something in the price range of the motog5+ , +the most important facts for me ar the camara and the battery, thank you very much for the help! Have a good one!! :)

  • on a normal work day when I don't have time to binge Netflix, I get about 14 hours on a full charge. things I'm disappointed with in this phone (keeping in mind that my android daily drivers before this have been the HTC ONE MAX & Galaxy S3) is.... 1. The back of the phone is glass. it would have been understandable if it had wireless charging, but it doesn't so why have the glass back? 2. the speaks sound great but they just don't sound as loud as the front speaker of the HTC ONE MAX. you can hear more deal in the sound but where I could take a speaker phone call while street cycling with the one MAX, the speaker on the U Ultra is pointing in the wrong direction to hear a speaker phone call over street noise if I'm cycling. and I don't like that. 3. accessories manufacturers have decided to skip this phone. forget trying to get a battery case, bumper case or any cool snap on accessory for this phone. those are the only letdowns I could find with this phone after having it for 6mounts

  • in my opinion, $300US is a deal (if it is not a knock-off phone you getting). 5 hours SOT of Netflix 6.5 hours run time in total & 13% battery still left. I paid $801US after tax and what I know of the U Ultra now, I would still buy it over the LG G6 Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8+ ONEPLUS 5 HTC U11 note 8 This does not mean that the U Ultra is perfect. I just suits my needs better than the phones mentioned above. screen too small = U11 & oneplus 5 screen too narrow for comfortable portrait typing = G6 & S8 screen colors not rich = G6 speaker volume below acceptable = S8, S8+, Note 8 poor audio recording = S8, S8+ Note 8 don't have my prefered back materal of mettal = U Ultra, U11 S8, S8+ Note 8, G6 the Camera is excellent. the earbuds are excellent. the 4 mics are excellent. the UI is excellent. it doesn't stutter or have delays with any of the apps I use. the audio from the speakers is very detailed. I wish they were front facing like my old HTC ONE MAX but they are still better than what you are getting from the other phones mentioned (U11 the only exception) so if I needed to buy a new phone today because a truck crushed my U Ultra......for $300 I would buy a U Ultra again without thinking twice about it.

  • man u didnt understood me i meant that can the phone give 5 hours screen on time ? is it worth 300 bucks ?

  • You joking right? Did you even look at the spec on the phone before you asked if it could handle those basic apps? This is HTC 2017 phablet flagship. Those apps run on 2013 flagship phones with no problem.

  • hello guys is the u ultra worth 300 dolar ? what about snapchat camera ? is it good enough ? the battery for youtube with some instgram and snapchat , can the u ultra handle is for 5 hours sot ?

  • Sounds a little high for only web surfing. Over 1 hour of YouTube, I'm at 37 degrees Celsius. I can spike to 45 degrees but that's when I'm using GPS in a windscreen mount (direct sun) & the phone is plugged in. But my normal use is 30-37. Other than the heat, are you having any of the problems I mentioned in the other post? You can try for the seller to change it but don't know how successful you will be without a problem being caused by the heat. One more thing, if you have to send it for HTC to check before it is changed..... Don't do it.... HTC will only give you a factory refurbished phone in a replacement situation and replacement stock for the U Ultra is hard to come by for HTC apparently, you will be without your phone for months.

  • The phone become heat in normal use of browsing internet is reaching to 45 Celsius when using phone for last 15 min

  • For ppl who actually have this phone...plz provide me info about the performance/battery drainage.....and anything you dont like about the phone Tnx...

  • Correction V30 not V20

  • phones I would recommend depending on how much you have to spend. HTC U Ultra HTC U 11 LG V20 SAMSUNG NOTE 8 ONEPLUS 3T Moto G PLUS 5GEN Huawei P9 Moto G 4gen anything under the Moto G 4gen, you need to talk to some other person. :) And NO, I don't know every phone on the market so there could be other phones on the market that are better for a matching price.

  • Thanks Antony for your suggestion. Which mid range mobile you suggest for good entertainment series. I wanted to buy one, but do not which one should I buy. Am really confused. I need a mobile to have good music. Experience and watching movies and good camera. Pls help with your advise.. Thanks in advance

  • expert? Lol. Thanks for the title. I have never been interested in a Sony phone as I don't like IPS LCD. and I have no friends with a Sony that can tell me what the performance is like. SuperLCD5, AMOLED, P-OLED is my preference. Phones that I like for a good display/audio combo is... HTC U Ultra LG V30 HTC U11 S8 not on my list because speaker audio is horrible to me & infinity edge glare is not ideal for video viewing. All 3 above are glass which make them all less durable than a metal back phone. So a case is recommended and even put on a Dbrand skin for the times you don't want to use a case. There are other phone I like but they are not tops at what you asked about.

  • What heat problems are you having? Is charging stopping because it's getting too hot? Are pixels in part or the screen getting discolored at times? (like a burn spot) Is your phone randomly rebooting or powering off? With indoor use of none GPS app? what temperature reading are you getting from the battery (please indicate if it's Celsius or Fahrenheit) What exactly is the problem? Because what you call "hot" others may call "worm" Worm indoors is normal, hot in extended time in direct sunlight is normal. (like a car dash board) But without proper details from you, no one can say if you need to return your phone.

  • Hello Antony, Being an expert, could you please suggest me a mobile I can buy for entertainment series like with good music quality, watching movies and camera and durability HTC U Ultra or Xperia X or any other good model. highly appreciate your advise.

  • I used this phone( htc u ultra )for last one week i have heat problem issue ---is any one has same problem is it normal or must return the phone......

  • sorry. don't know anything about US phone service. I have never even been to the US. I just shop at US online stores for brands/ items I can't get or are too expensive on my Island. ask me about bmoible or Digicel and I could give my opinion. :)

  • Hello Anth0ny, I see that you are one of the most active users here and I would like an advise although is not about the phone but about service. I have an HTC U Ultra and I love it. I´m not sure with which carrier I should go. I have been told by different people to go to Straight Talk but I would like to have other opinions about their service. You may have not used their service maybe, but have you heard anything about this carrier? Thanks in advance!

  • the max 16:9 ratio = resolution 2240x4000 4:3 ratio = resolution 3072x4096

  • What is the maximum size photo of this phone ? I mean what resolution camera .(4032.3024 )? What is exactly

  • when you buy a (New) HTC U Ultra, it comes in a vacuum sealed square box with rounded corners that has a drawing of the phone, Ultra & HTC on top. specs, S/N, P/N & IMEI sticker below. In the box, you get the phone (wrapped in a special plastic sheet(not bubble wrap), a clear hard plastic case, charger, USB-C cable, USB-C ear buds, extra tips, sim ejector tool, documentation & 4 service labels. when the rep said, "We really hope you enjoy your new phone" what was mentioned above is what I was expecting to see when I got the package. The shipping envelope I got had..... I cheap plain white cardboard box (with no markings) which had the phone inside, in bubble wrap & the special plastic sheet. That was all in the box. the envelope also had a return bubble wrap envelope with HTC's address & my skybox address as the sender already stuck to it & a bubble wrap pouch. that what I described above is what I expected to see back in June when I was still doing the Uh Oh protection phone swap. I was not expecting that now because as you know I canceled in July, as 50+ days had passed on the claim. the first time I sent an HTC phone back for repairs (and it came back looking like brand spanking new) the box it was in was rectangular, with a sleeve that had the design of bow raping a gift & a drawn tag that said "I'm back" (there was also HTC logo in the corner) The box in the sleeve had a flip lid and was molded on the inside to the shape of the phone. this was a realy nice presentation to get a phone back in. if I'm being gifted just the phone with none of the extras I could understand it coming in a box like that. but the fact that what I got had a return envelope, no new presentation or fancy box of any kind. makes me think it's yet again a next RMA department screw up, that they decided to gift me when I contacted them about it. so I'm watching my visa for the next 20 work days to see if they decide to screw up yet again.

  • What do you mean by "it's the phone only". What's missing.

  • day 86.... got the package and it's the phone only, in bubble wrap in a white box & a return envelope. SMH. This doesn't look like a gift, it looks like RMA screwed up and still sent the replacement "Factory refurbished" phone after I had already canceled my request weeks ago. The phone looks like new. it is even in the raping that the new phones come in. now I have to wait 20 working days to see what happens with my visa. will I be billed or not. I just don't know when it comes to HTC RMA department.... my drama may not be concluded as yet. take it from me people don't ever send your phone back to HTC if it gets damage to get it repaired or replace. buy your parts your self and take it to a local repair shop. The money you spend doing it that way is worth not having to deal with HTC RMA department.

  • Seriously? I guess the proof will be in the pudding so it will be interesting to see what arrives. Good luck and congratulations.

  • Day 85... Contacted HTC live chat about the package that is on its way to me and was informed.... "We are shipping to you an HTC U Ultra for all this inconvenience with HTC, We really hope you enjoy your new phone" WOW! I am in shock. (and I don't have to return the one I am using now.)

  • It's beginning to sound like a soap opera. You could not have written a better script. Just be careful that they don't "accidentally" activate your credit card.

  • Day 84... when I think my interaction with HTC RMA department is all over. I get an email from my skybox..... they received a package for me from HTC in Miami and its ready for forwarding. "WTH" I should have what ever it is in my hand on Friday. will know then, if it's a gift or if HTC RMA screwed up once again. stay tuned...... LOL this is ridiculous.

  • you are welcome

  • To users of this phone. if your battery is anywhere under 80% and you put it to charge using the included HTC charger and you don't see a note that pops up saying "charging rapidly"..... you need to change your charging cable. it's damaged or doesn't support quick charge 3.

  • Thanks Anth0ny, your info is helpful to me. I appreciate your time.

  • No....... It being a glass sandwich is what affects the strength of the phone. The U Ultra has no edge sense and my back glass still broke inside a case.. It may be gorilla glass but I know from buying the replacement glass that it's less than a mm thick. That makes the glass weaker than the mid frame. So you could bend the frame if you go out of your way to try but the glass is going to break long before that happens. I have my phone in a spigan ruggid armor case & tampered glass for the front, so I assumed it was OK if it fell or I fell asleep with it on the bed. I WAS WRONG. I don't even know when the back glass broke because the case is black and the frame is not bent, dented or scratched.

  • AnthOny does the ability to squeeze affect the rigidity or strength of the phone? In other words could it perhaps be more prone to bending.

  • you are correct. For what you say is important to you, the $100 more will bring you no extra value. Edge sense. Think of it as a programmable button you activate by squeezing the sides of your phone. It's programmable for both a short & long squeeze function. you can even set how hard/soft you have to squeeze the button for it to work. if you don't want to use it, you just don't assign any function to it. HTC twist on this button is....... it's under the side frame of the phone, so there is no physical button to see or complain about if you don't use it and it is not capacitive so it will work even when wet.

  • Thanks for the analysis. Me as an average user, I'm looking mainly into: 1. Excellent camera. 2. Large display and vivid texture page for reading. 3. Reasonable battery life. 4. Device that its SW runs smoothly. U11 does not have a significant advantageous over the U Ultra. (I have now Z3 Compact. It has a bad camera!) What is "edge sense"?

  • the average user is not going to notice the difference in chip set because the U Ultra is not slow in real world use. you don't pay more for a smaller phone, that's why I didn't mention those 2 things.

  • U 11 also has newer Snapdragon 835ltra has Snapdragon 821. Then there is the slight difference in physical size and screen size.

  • To answer your question Naftali... 1. U11 is IP67 water & dust resistance. The U Ultra is not. 2. U11 has edge sense. The U Ultra does not. 3. U11 has active noise cancellation for the ear buds. The U Ultra does not. 4. U11 comes with the 3.5 audio jack adaptor in the box. you have to buy it for $12US for the U Ultra. 5. U11 has Alexa. the U Ultra does not. if you split the $100 with the 5 items, it would be 22+22+22+12+22 you decide if it's worth the extra money or if you would rather have the bigger main screen & the secondary screen of the U Ultra.

  • In my country the U11 is $100 more expensive compare to U Ultra. What are the key features that a user can notice, that makes this different? Does the U11 deserves this extra?

  • Android 8 isn't even out officially for the Google pixel yet (or even have an official name) So you have some waiting to do to get an answer to that.

  • when does u ultra gets android 8.0???

  • it was sovled with this new update that brings july seciurity update

  • was the problem solved? what exactly was it?

  • Thanks

  • 1. so you have the hotstop set to "always on" in the settings, so it's not that it is turning off, you are just losing your connection. that's correct? 2. you don't have energy saver on or on auto, so it is not cutting data when your screen turns off. and you are having the problem even with the screen on. that's correct also? 3. could it be bad cellular reception where you have the phone so the xbox is seeing it as the is no internet? if the phone is getting low 4g/LTE the XBOX or PC will say the internet is unstable. 4. if you have good cellular reception it could be wireless interference try switching the band from 2.4GHz to 5GHz in Advanced of the hotspot settings.

  • my laptop and xbox one

  • What is the device your are connecting to the hotspot?

  • actually my problem is that the device gets dissconnceted in one sconed and quickly connected.i use device at full charge andi turn off screen time off to 1 hour.

  • it is set to "always on" from the hotspot settings and power saver is off, and you still have the problem. are you sure power saver is not set to auto for low battery? are you having the problem on a full battery also? about how long will you have a connection before the hotspot goes to sleep? is it a set time with the screen off or will it even sleep with the screen on?

  • for those of you that are wondering how this phone is with getting updates. this phone is 5 months old and today I just got my 3rd OTA Android update. 560.86mb Android security patch level July 1, 2017

  • HTC Hongkong says front only but the replacement back glass I bought on eBay for my 64gb model was posted on eBay as "Original For HTC U Ultra Housing Crystal Glass Rear Battery Cover With Adhesive" it said crystal glass in the name but I'm not going to test it.

  • Hi Anthony is the 128gb of HTC U Ultra has front and back sapphire crystal? Or front panel only? Tnx

  • it was set to always on.but i still have the problem.

  • OnePlus 5.

  • What is the best one between OnePlus 5 and HTC U Ultra

  • Hotspot sittings has a time out, turn it off. With hot-spot off in the quick toggles, press and hold on it> When the mobile hotspot window comes up, be sure it's still off and > tap on the 3 dots in the top-right corner>tap on "advanced">tap "Power mode">set to "always on" After that you can turn on hotspot Let me know if that solved your problem.

  • i have problem with mobile hotspot. after few minutes it get disconncet and has timeout.power saving mode is off.what can i do??

  • for those like my self that enjoyed using HTC old web browser because it supported text reflow in desktop mode and would like to have a browser that is still getting updates. give "Opera" a try not Opera mini but the full Opera browser in the play store. it has text reflow in desktop mode that you can turn on in settings. do you guys know of any other browser that may be better that also has text reflow in desktop mode?

  • just notice that one of the updates added "Badge" support to the secondary screen. so now apps like whats app, viber, email, facebook can show you a count of new notification next to the app icon in the secondary screen. this support was missing back in March.

  • Thanks.

  • Sorry can't help you. You just have to keep looking and testing. I bought what was best for my needs. I will say, if you are worried about durability, stay away from all glass back phones.

  • Thanks. First, I checked dummy show piece, after ten minute staff girl opens a drawer and show me the original htc u ultra, she switched on front of my eyes and let that to me. but maybe it is not felt in the protective case. any way I have changed my mind, will you or someone please recommend some other brand smart phone with better build quality, compass and gyro sensors ?

  • No. Was it plugged in & charging when you were using it? Did any one use it before you? If yes, do you know what apps they left running in the background? Mine will get warm using GPS with the phone plugged in, in the car with the sun hitting it. But never got so hot to the point to stop charging. Other than that if it does get worm, it's not worm enough to feel through the case I have on.

  • my question is did it get warm just in few minutes? I used 3-4 minutes in the shop and it is get warmed.

  • what are your reasons for looking at the both phones? it's hard to say which to go with if no one knows what your needs and preferences are in a device. and for the average joe, both are good. you need to give more info about your likes and dislike so others will know which is better for you. have you ever even used a one+ or HTC phone before?

  • what is your question? you only made statements and I didn't see any questions.

  • Please Answer if you are the owner of HTC U Ultra. (Thanks) I wanted to buy HTC U Ultra yesterday, but due to a mean reason I didn't go ahead. My question is I check u ultra in the shop just for a 3-5 minute, I open Camera, visit a website and within 3 minutes I have realized it is warmed. every phone is getting warm when user play games, but a normal use won't get warm to a smart phone. I bought HTC M8 in 2014 and used it almost 3 years, still the best phone.

  • should i buy U Ultra or Oneplus 3t ???

  • Belated congratulations. Hope they don't process your $600 credit card. You have been incredibly patient.

  • Day #55, July 25th. I have cancelled the UH OH protection claim. on July 5th I ordered a replacement back on ebay (coming from China) for $75US July 19th the replacement back arrived at my freight forwarding address in the United States today it arrived for me in my country. it cost $6US to clear & $8US to be installed by a repair shop with a hot plate. it was advertised as the Sapphire crystal glass version but I'm not going to try and scratch it to test it. :) note: if I got the refurbished replacement from HTC USA, It would have cost about $56US to clear in my country from the freight forwarder (shipping and taxes) & about the same to send back the damaged phone to HTC USA from outside the US. (missed my window to have a friend get it into the US for free return shipping because HTC took to long to send a replacement.) Now I have to wait for 24 hours to see if HTC has successfully cancelled my request.

  • Oooooo the things from the ONE MAX I would want on the U Ultra to make me 100% happy with the U Ultra. 1. front facing speakers 2. metal body 3. IR blaster. 4. screen size 5.9" for the main screen (i still want the secondary screen too) 5. battery size. so i'm more like 95% happy now 1% off for battery & IR blaster 1% off for screen size reduction 1% off for glass body 2% off for not having front facing speakers

  • If only HTC would make a one Max with today's specs!!

  • Will do. Thanks again.

  • O, If it's sun viewing you are taking about SuperLCD 5 get plenty bright. Ask to see your friends U Ultra in the sun and see for your self, the U11 has the same screen. The only problem you may have is if you wear polarized Shades. I've been told that you can't see the screen in landscape with them on. I don't know for sure because I don't wear polarized shades.

  • Thanks again AnthOny you've given me a lot of food for thought. None of your points really bother me although they all make sense. It may come down to the displays. The s8 is generally credited with the best display on the market and sunlight visibility is very important to me. I live in Australia and sometimes my s6 is difficult to read outdoors. But thanks for your time.

  • Scorpio to think about when deciding between the 2 1. how do you feel about on-screen navigation keys? I for one don't like them. I hate that they disappear when in an app and you have to do an extra action to bring them back. this is what you going to have to deal with on the S8 and it is something you didn't have to do on the S6. 2. how do you feel about the new aspect ratio? for apps that don't support it. they will look like they are on a 5" screen as the s8 is so narrow. 3. how do you feel about not being able to charge your phone & use corded headphones at the same time? because you can't do that with the U11

  • if you are picking between the 2 and your are worried about the glass in a fall, I would say go with the U11. 3 youtube tech reviewers that I follow have already broken the front curve glass on their personal S8 from accidental drops in a sitting position. coming out a car, sitting on the toilet and the 3rd didn't say. not to mention there is no good tempered glass for the curved screens. the complaint is "it pops off in a fall or when putting on or taking off your case. getting good tempered glass screen protectors for the U11 is not a problem. also, you should try typing on that narrow s8 screen and see which phone is more comfortable for typing in portrait.

  • Ok. One of my friends has a U Ultra which he loves but I find too large dimensions wise. I have an s6 which is due for upgrading soon and I'm torn between the s8 and the U11. I like the display on the s8 but not sure about the curved edges and glass body.

  • the U11 is a really nice phone but a 5.5" screen is not for me. I already compromised by losing 0.2" when I got the U Ultra which is 5.7" when the ONE MAX I was using was 5.9" losing 0.4" is a loss of way too much screen "area" for me. :-) if there is a U Ultra next year with a 6" main + the secondary screen, with the features of the U11 I'll upgrade. but other than that, I'm not buying a new phone when my U Ultra works just fine. the broken back glass is not affecting performance or usability in a case.

  • AnthOny have you considered the HTC U11.

  • being a top seller doesn't tell you anything about the in hand performance of a phone. being a top seller is only good news for the manufacture and stockholders. what do you get by saying "the phone I use is a top seller"??

  • And fyi the top selling list for some of the months is 1. Samsung 2. Sony 3. IPHONE 4. HUAWEI 5. XIAOMI 6. HTC No joke dudes

  • Lol until now I still think this HTC U ULTRA is still a disappointment. Mainly because of the price, lack of headphone jack and how badly it got when it is hands on with JerryRigEverything lol. So those people buying the sapphire glass with 128GB storage is a waste of money. Even when my country Singapore released this phone a few months ago it is not even on the top of the carrier best selling list when it is considered as a flagship, shameful HTC. Even my friends none of them used HTC, all of them mostly use IPHONE, Samsung and Sony. I used XPERIA XZ and I can say that this is already a good phone. So no point "chasing" this phone for those HTC fans. Get another better HTC phone if u are a fan of HTC

  • Yes it is. It's Very shameful that a company as big as HTC could advertise something like Uh Oh protection and not have stock in place to honor it. This is why I am sharing my experience as this is not the only model phone they are doing this same none sense with. The reasons am not flipping out is... 1. I expected something to go wrong, I just didn't know what. This is not the first time I have had problems with HTC RMA department. 2. Getting a refurbished phone is not my first option for a solution. When I decided to buy from HTC direct I was under the impression that Uh Oh protection provided you with a "new" phone (that was my 1st option). a refurbished phone is like my 3rd acceptable option. everything is still working on my phone and I put on a cheap vinyl skin to stop the flaking of the glass. I'll take about option 2 next week, if I do it.

  • What a disgraceful state of affairs. By the time you receive your replacement the phone will have been superseded. Don't know how you've kept your cool.

  • Worst phone ever, even cheaper phones are 100% better.

  • Day 42..... I got an email from HTC escalations department. long story short, they were getting in touch to let me know I was not forgotten & they still don't have a phone to give me and I just have to keep waiting. LOL

  • Could you rephrase your question?

  • have a gorilla glass 5 htc u ultra at the back panel?

  • Sorry AnthOny now that you mention it I do recall you saying this ages ago. I'd forgotten. I admire your patience. Think I would have gone beserk by now and given them a real mouthful. Disgraceful service. Good luck.

  • Scorpio take a read on the HTC page if you think I don't know what I am talking about. my experience is not going anything like this and I have been in contact with live chat to confirm that nothing is wrong on my part. and let me put it out there again for readers that may take my post the wrong way. I don't hate HTC phones, I enjoy using them, that's why I keep buying them and must likely will buy an HTC when I'm ready to upgrade again. but their service department is not to the same standard as their phones and I want people to know this. you are better off getting repairs done 3rd party. but in my case, I can't even find the black back glass to buy online.

  • Scorpio, go back to post that are time stamped 15 June 2017 and have a read of the process. and BTW this is not the first time I had to deal with HTC RMA department concerning damage (as in not a defect but physical damaged caused by accident) to a phone. The first time I didn't get that phone from HTC direct so I didn't have the UH OH protection. I had to send the phone first as it had to be repaired instead of replaced. That took close to 2 months as they claimed they were delays in getting the part from Taiwan. I deliberately bought it directly from HTC USA this time to avoid having the send the phone first and assumed it would be fast because I would be getting a new phone if I needed to use the service. I was wrong both time. (it's not going to be new and it is not fast) and a note to new buyers..... an addendum has been added to the U Ultra USA UH OH protection. you are not legible for UH OH protection if you bought your U Ultra after 12th June 2017 have a read if you think I'm making this up.

  • They are holding over 600US on my visa. the replacement phone is coming with free return labels. When/if I get it, I have 20 days to get the damage phone back to them or they will take the money that is on hold in the visa. I replied to my self every time I post about this so people can follow. just go back and read I also explained the full 4 part process to a next reader. Go back and take a read. I'm still in stage 1 BTW.

  • AnthOny maybe they are waiting for you to send your phone back first otherwise how do they know that you have actually broken it and also what guarantee do they have that you will return it when you receive the new one. Seems logical to me..

  • Day 34.... I'm getting so fed-up of waiting on HTC for my replacement phone. Anyone knows where I can buy the black back glass online?

  • Thanks a lot I will go for u ultra

  • No lag And I am 1 of the people that pre-ordered, so I have had it from the beginning. My phone reads on average 2.1gb of RAM used out of the 4gb of RAM. no heat problem to talk about. I use waze nav in a windscreen Mount, plunged into a car charger & not once has it stopped charging due to heat of use & direct sunlight. It will get warm being in the sun for more than 2 hours but it don't affect usage. I have the HTC USA model & it has the cutout for dual sim but it doesn't work. I think HTC didn't add dual sim software support to the USA phones /ROM. If you are deciding between the U11 & U Ultra, you only need to determine 1. Do I need water resistant up to a meter? 2. Do I want voice activated google & Amazon or am I OK with just voice activated google? 3. Will I use the squeeze function alot or is it just something that is nice to have? 4. Do I want dual screen functionality or is a smaller body size more important? All the other differences are too small to talk/think about.

  • Thanks for your quick response. Did you experience lag or over heating in the u ultra? Also how is the battery life? And did you try using 2 sim cards in it? If yes, how was the overall performance?

  • day 33 of my Oh Uh protection request update.... phone still has not shipped out of Taiwan as yet. HTC live chat USA still doesn't know when it will.

  • both the base model of the U Ultra and U11 are the same 4gb of RAM &64GB of storage. it is only the higher end model of the U Ultra and U11 that is 128GB of storage that is the model that has the 6GB of RAM in the U11 only and Sapphire crystal glass in the U Ultra only

  • i'm currently using iphone 6s plus and i want to switch back to android, but i'm wondering weather to by HTC U Ultra or wait a little longer for the HTC U11 to hit the markets. Although, the bigger display on U Ultra is mind blowing for me, the 6gb rams on the U11 is intriguing since it is better insurance that there will be no lags in the software. please advise !!!!!

  • I'm Glad to see some of the extra apps gone like calendar because I use the one that came with Google. but just like you I preferred using the HTC browser, media player & Gallery. For the browser, I did just like you and took it off my one max using "Xender". that notice of "no more updates" is also on the MAX so there is nothing you can do about that. but I like the text reflow & quick controls so i use it anyway. The one max media player was crashing on the phone but I did find an alternative that is just as good to me and it even works with the second screen so i disabled google play music. It's called "Shuttle Music Player" (by: SumpleCity) I took the Gallery from the MAX as well but i can't get the map function to load the map. I also started using "Simple Gallery" (by Simple Mobile Tools) as it easy to sort photos into folders with it and i can hide folders from the main view. The Ultra camera meets my needs so I have not experemented with any other from the play store or trying to take the one from the MAX.

  • Anthony Am following you since we purchased htc one Max the greatest of all htc mobiles of course after m8 But now I am also using htc u ultra I still have m8 eye and htc 10 with me. But camera options in m8 are not there in ultra as we found in m8 and default internet browserin htc was uncomfortable with any browsers why they have removed that that's one thing which annoy me a lot. Is there any advice that I can get these two things default browser and camera options of m8. I transferred internet browserfrom my m8 through share it but htc says no further updateswill be given we have to use chrome only. Any solutions from your side regarding these 2 problems. Am eagerly for your immediate solution. Please help me out

  • it is best to use a square picture. As it is trimmed to a circle in contacts a.k.a people. and trimmed top & bottom to a rectangle shape for the dialer. if your contact photo is coming from a phone that used portrait photos they are not going to crop in a way you like. sorry.

  • Hi, its's a nube question. The profile pics are not displaying properly and only half is visible on call screen and upper half is covered by the call display. Which is not the case with say S7 edge or V20. Tried editing the pics but of no use.

  • thnxxx bro..means i buy htc u ultra

  • The back camera takes detailed pictures that are colour accurate but the LG has that second lens for wide angle so it comes down to personal choice because the LG back camera isn't bad. Battery of the 2 should be about the same from test I have seen so that is not really a deciding factor. My usage time will differ from yours so what I could tell you is I'm coming from the HTC ONE MAX and I get the same amount of battery live & that had a 3300mAh battery. Charge times are extremely fast if you use a charger that supports the PD standard. You can go from below 4% to above 80% in under & hour. The last 20% charges slower. The only thing I'm not a fan of is it's a glass back phone. And unfortunately the big names are all glass back. O and my one Max speaker layout had more volume but this definitely sounds fuller. This has more volume than the G6, so it's really only competing against other HTC phones.

  • Thnxx bro...u says htc u ultra is better than lg g6...can i ask u...for the bettry timing and back camera both of sets plz tell me thnxx

  • Both are great phones for this year but hear are some reasons to pick the U Ultra over the G6. 1. Sense UI is the smoothest after stock Android. 2. LCD5 is notably better than the IPS LCD. 3. You want the 4 mics for better audio in your recordings. 5. If you like big screen phones the aspect ratio of the Ultra is better for multimedia as nothing is recorded in the new ratio as yet. And the portrait keyboard is less cramp. 6.HTC has a Theme engine that would let you customise just about everything in the UI. 7. fingerprint scanner in front will let you unlock your phone on a table. 8. The built-in boost+ app would let you lock individual apps and be able to unlock quickly with the fingerprint scanner. 9. Having notification come in on the secondary screen is really cool when you are in a full screen app. You can even respond without leaving full screen. 10. Twice the internal storage 11. Much better front camera. 12. Already got the OTA May 1st Android security update. 13. Stellar ear buds in the box. G6 comes with none. 14. Thanks to 1 of the 4 mics being a always on mic "OK google" works with the screen off and the phone locked and know the difference between your voice & other voices that may be trying to get in or talking at the same time. 15. Back, home & app switcher always readily available no matter if you are in a full screen app or not.

  • day 19 of my Oh Uh protection request update.... The phone still has not shipped. when I contacted the live chat I was told the email about them having it in the warehouse was not correct. they are still waiting on stock from Taiwan. and they maybe will have it in 2 weeks. "MAYBE" 19+14=33days would have passed by then waiting on a replacement phone. if you have this phone, take good care of it, you don't want to be waiting like me. and if you have to use the Oh Uh protection, don't go with the option where you have to send back your phone first or you are going to be without a phone for a long time.

  • Hi plz tell me..which phone is the best lg g6 and htc u ultra ..price little bit same...i m buy which phone and why....both of set camera bettry timing sound whos best plz help me

  • none but we have htc in lazada.com.ph

  • Is really nice that you get that option after all you being through! :) and hopefully the device they send you performs well so that you have that gorgeous back that this phone offers.

  • beautiful phablet.

  • Nah they just make them there lol

  • Next reason, it's a good thing I went with option (a). I decide which I'm returning. I'll test everything for a few days then decide which one is going back. I really thought I was getting a new phone when I started the process. And both my wife & (J. Williams) are of the opinion that it's not going to be as bad as I'm thinking, so I'm waiting to see. At the end of the day, I'm using a black case and I have a vinyl skin on the glass now to keep it together, as I didn't know how long I was going to be using the phone with the broken back. So if the replacement is not performing like new, it's going back.

  • Is there a HTC Store in the Philippines ?

  • ¨factory certified refurbished¨ These in other words are like used phones that were returned to HTC. What they do is that they fix the problem the phone has, they run several tests on the phone to make sure the phone works properly and then they resell them. These phones are usually a surprise box because although their original problem is fixed, doesn't mean they won´t get another problem coming in hot. Hopefully yours isn´t the case! :)

  • Yes, it is good that things are moving forward. as you are interested I'll go into some details. This is how Uh OH protection is explained by HTC rep when you LiveChat them to make a claim and you qualify. you have 2 options to choose from. (A) 1. HTC puts a hold on your VISA for $600US (value of the replacement phone only). 2. Once the hold is approved by you. the replacement phone is shipped out the next day. 3. once you receive the replacement in 2days, you use the included retune documents to send the damaged phone back via Fedex. 4. if it arrives at HTC in 10 days, the hold on your visa is lifted in full. If it arrives after 10 days you will be charged a late fee. if 20day pass and they don't get it, they will keep the $600US (none refundable) (b) 1. you return the damaged phone first and in 2days you get the replacement phone. (no money is held on your visa) I went with option (A) as I didn't want to be without a working phone for a few days. so after giving my approval, i was expecting to have the replacement in 2 days. its day 15 and the HTC tracking page is still saying "Preparing Replacement". so things are not going as expected and live chat so far has been wrong with giving dates every time I ask. I also found out the replacement phone is not classed as new but instead classed as factory certified refurbished, so I don't know what that means for quality untill i have it in my hand. keep checking back here for my updates on how it is going. it's a good thing I didn't go with option (B) or it would have been 15 days so far without a U Ultra.

  • That's good isn't it?

  • day 14 of my Oh Uh protection request update.... Today I got an email from HTC with an update. "your device is now awaiting shipment in our warehouse" It is no longer just saying "approved" on the HTC tracking page.

  • I can't wait to see the update for your shipping issue with UH OH

  • today I got my 2nd OTA update for this phone. 1.62.617.1 it carries Android security patch level up to May 1, 2017. update size 546.4mb. Did anyone find new features?

  • the saga continues... Monday is here and it still has not shipped. now I am being told there is no stock for replacement phones under oh uh protection. and support doesn't know when there will be stock. stay tuned to see how things go.

  • Day 9 update. I'm now being told it will ship out on Monday. That's 4 days from now.

  • follow up day 8 HTC still have not shipped my OH UH protection replacement. note: there web site says it should ship 24h after the hold on your card is approved. i enjoy HTC phones but when i have to deal with there RMA department, it's a diffrent story.

  • follow up on my UH OH protection claim. just found out from an HTC USA CHAT rep. that under the UH OH protection I will be getting a refurbished phone. I'm very worried about this. has anyone here ever made an UH OH protection claim before, that can testify to the condition of the phone they got in the swap?

  • Good Phone but 3.5mm jack No Stupid!!! I do not buy it

  • JohnIsCooper, This is what I was afraid of. I discovered a shattered back on my phone today and it had a case on. good thing I got mine directly from HTC USA so I have OH-UH protection

  • made a claim on my UH OH protection today. the back glass shattered, and because I had on a black case, I don't even know when or how it happened. glass back phones are really not for me. will keep you guys up to date on how it goes.

  • finally, version 9.14.929638 update of sense home has added a better grid of 5 x 6 in the app draw to take batter advantage of the high res and big screen of the U Ultra. you still have 4x5 as an option

  • Using the dual SIM version available in Hong Kong. Excellent phone for travelling, covers all important 3G & 4G bands. Superb build quality, excellent camera. Very fast. Glass back looks and feels like a flagship phone, does not seem to scratch. Battery life is great. Have had several HTC and Samsung phones, the HTC's have all been much better than the Sansungs.

  • Hate? Where did you get that idea from? I have been commenting here from the first day I got the phone. You read all those comments an concluded I hated the phone? This is my first glass back phone and I have realized it not my material of choice for a phone if I'm not going to see the beauty of glass in a TPU case.(you may not need a case but I need one.) so yes I would think it was pointless on the S7,S8 & G6 if they don't have wireless charging which makes the glass functional / practical on those phones. But I still prefer my U ULTRA over them because 1. I like the wider screen for typing on the portrait keyboard & movie viewing. 2. Colours look better on the U ULTRA screen over the G6. 3. Speakers sound better on the U ULTRA. 4. included ear buds are better on the U Ultra. 5. I prefer sense UI. 6. HTC phones are not famous for being full of lag like Samsung. 7. The back camera is the best I've ever seen on a HTC phone and the front camera is much better than both the G6 & S8. 8. Audio recording has always been excellent on HTC phones and this phone takes it to the next level with 4 mics. 9. I enjoy having the second screen for none intrusive notifications, skiping sound tracks, and staring my most used apps without having to go back to the home screen first. 10. I enjoy using "OK google" to turn on my screen, unlock my phone & get what I need. All In one voice command. That only responds to my voice. Not the voice of the radio,tv, my wife, kids or friends. It works so good I don't even have a phone dialer icon on my home screen. I just have no need for it. 11. I like that the 3 keys are not onscreen, taking up screen realestate. 12. I like the bezels, it gives me somewhere to rest my long fingers that doesn't block part of what I'm viewing on the screen. 13. I like phones with big viewing areas so to me this is still bigger than the S8,G7 & U11. so I don't even regret not waiting on the U11. I would have liked to get the water resistance but a bigger screen trumps that for me. I'm upgrading from the HTC ONE MAX and before that I had the samsung SIII. before that I used HTC Windows Mobile phones (not to be mistaken with "windows phone" phones, because it's not the same OS.) so now do I have your permission to say the back glass is pointless for me and don't have you accuse me of being a hater of the brand or model?

  • Then you must have the same complaints against the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8 unless you just hate HTC or believe what top Youtubers tell you.

  • Perfect, nice, awesome and really excellent phone. It has no negative point.it is far better than v20.in camera part u ultra had the highest points with pixel xl and in ui as all of honest person know htc has the best, fastest and bug/lagg free ui.ultra is really luxury and faster than v20.dont ignore that utc sense works better than other androud ui with the same specs. Grab u ultra.good luck

  • Phone is nice with little bit unhandy peace because of size, little bit issue with network, i personally recommend u play model for those u look for handy peace camera quality superb sound and picture quality nice but price value i too high it should be near around 30k also htc gives self insurance for breakage and liquid log this help me to avoid roming and entertaining by insurance person also service center with professional service. nw i can recommend this brand to my techfreendly frd

  • Would recommend v20 dual sim model ,2 proper sim slots and micro sd slot ,not hybrid ,seriously it doesn't disappoint, lovely audio ,great camera with excellent capabilities ,good battery and replaceable battery ,snappy ,responsive ,it's cheaper U ultra ,at first look it's got an identity crises ,doesn't know what it's trying to be

  • The phone is not l compatible and as such creats operational hazards with reliance jio card

  • Perfect phone!

  • Go for htc U ultra

  • I'm using this phone almost 2 months I'm not using back cover Bcz I want a beauty design so it's very nice to hold hand and the camera one of the best and best self camera sound also very nice if you use htc u sonic earphone and battery a full-day with 4g all around the phone is very nice I recommend you guys

  • after 2 mounts of having this phone, I can safely say...... The glass back on this phone is pointless to me. unless you plan to use it without a case, you will never see the true beauty. The one time I had the case off when I wasn't home it fell on concrete and scratched the back, so that confirmed I have to use a case. With a clear case on, the back is still not as reflective as when It has no case, so most of the beauty is lost. not to mention the scratches you get on the (in the box case) &/or discolouration you get on 3rd party TPU clear cases. So I ended up with a spigen black case and don't see the glass. As this phone has no wireless charging and I have it in a black case, the glass is pointless to me.

  • Go for HTC 10....not desire 10

  • This is the most detailed review I have seen for this phone to date.

  • Had my first unprotected fall today. :( Seating in the concrete stands of my kids swimming class and I see water between the case and the phone. It isn't looking good so I decided to remove the case to wipe it. I rest the phone on my pants to get the cleaning cloth and it slides right off onto the concrete then drops 2 feet on to more rough concert. Aaaaaaaaaaaaa! Got 1 short hair line scratch on the back glass. And a scratch on the frame between the volume & power.

  • If you need the FM radio then buy the pro 10. Other than that, the U Ultra is the better buy once price is not an issue.

  • i buy which phone whos best ......htc u ultra and desire 10 pro...plz tell me

  • hi too all...can any suggest me ..i buy wich phone...whos best ..htc u ultra and htc desire 10 pro

  • addition to post below. you can also use it to connect your DLSR to transfer photos from the camera to your phone. and if you connect a next phone to it you can access the files on that phone & charge it too from this phone.

  • Yes it supports USB-C OTG. the link to the one I use is below. 1. I have used it with a logitech keyboard & mouse combo using the unifying dongle (nice for using Microsoft office & excel on the phone). 2. I have used it with my flash drive. 3. I have connected my 2TB WD My book. It said it was corrupted and wanted to format it. I think the problem there is, that drive is formatted in NTFS not FAT32 and Android may not have NTFS support. Any one with more technical knowledge can correct me if I'm wrong. There is a next dongle I want to buy that give you access to micro USB, USB A, HDMI all at once. Should allow me to power my phone connect keyboard, mouse and a TV. Will know if this has support for the one below later this year.

  • otg capable?

  • I did a battery test for you the first time you asked. The results are posted about 4 pages back. I normally plug in when I'm in the car as I'm using waze nav and that sucks power. so I can't really tell you how long it takes to go from 100% - 0% other than that 1 test I did for you. I don't think the battery is anything special. It's average for any HTC phone. That's not a bad thing because you never here about HTC phones with bad battery life, this is just a next one like that. (take in the consideration I'm coming from using a HTC ONE MAX that has a 3500 battery) What is nice is it don't take very long to charge. But even that is not an advantage because I don't think any USB C phone takes long to charge.

  • Great comment, what about real battery usage.

  • I'm not going to tell you which to pick, but here are some of the advantages of the U Ultra. 1. Colors POP on the Super LCD 5. can compete with AMOLED. (which is better is up to you) 3. the secondary screen shows the time and battery % all the time when apps are running in full-screen mode e.g. videos. (on the LG it is blank) 2. rear camera pictures are excellent, thanks to having both laser & phase detection autofocus and a dual tone flash. 3. audio in recorded videos is excellent, thanks to the 4 mics around the phone. 4.OIS on videos is much better on the Ultra. 5. 16mp front camera 6. speakers on the U Ultra can't be beaten. 7. the out of the box earbuds are excellent in volume & sound quality. 8. the small storage model of the Ultra is 64mb. that is the large storage model of the V 20 9. the default UI is much more customizable, the theme maker engine is amazing. that is just some of the things I'm sure the U Ultra has, as an advantage. there may be more but those are the things I'm sure about.

  • Because HTC is better

  • Because U Ultra will give you unique experience. Better Performance. Better Camera. Better Sound. Better Interface. Never gonna slow after year of usage. Just try once and feel it

  • yes I'm using htc 10 and HTC u ultra but htc u ultra can give full day with 4g

  • Because U Ultra performs better than V20 in low light shots.

  • Anybody tell me, why I should buy U Ultra and not LG V20 ?

  • HTC 10 was the only device with OIS in front facing camera, this feature has been removed from U Ultra, I think management team intentionally want to liquidate the company by many stupid decisions

  • it's metal covered/coated in gorilla glass 5. as for HTC being dead. people have been singing that sound sense 2014 and yet they are still here. so it looks like their survival is not based on your opinion.

  • what build material on the backside? i saw this phone on a local shop for 837usd. Waaaay to much for this ugly device. HTC gone from good hope to no hope :/ . M7 was their last worth having phone.

  • Yes, HTC U Ultra's battery is more than the HTC 10.

  • Hi Sir, Are you serious? HTC 10 5.2" and HTC U Ultra 5.7" but you said HTC U Ultra's battery using is longer than HTC 10?

  • Hi Sir, Are you serious? HTC 10 5.2" and HTC U Ultra 5.7" but you said HTC U Ultra's battery using is longer than HTC 10?

  • The battery is great - it lasts far longer than the HTC 10

  • Take a look at this video. About 28 minuets in you get to see the U Ultra screen compared to the S8. You tell me which screen looks better. The bottom row of icons are lined up. Which has more actual usable screen if you using an app that would have the back and app switcher up.

  • why can't find drop test videos of this phone? I want to know if it would be safe to you with a skin & tempered glass only.

  • question to owners. How do you use the exposure slider in normal photo mode? I tap the screen and see the slider but I can't get it to move up or down.

  • Hi, stop animation from developer options and reduce screen brightness to 25% while you are indoors. These really reduce the battery drain.

  • Great phone with high spec,, the fast charging is very promising but the battery drain like a crazy if not using power saver. Overall it's a nice phone

  • Listen to the improvement in audio quality when using 4 built-in mics in the U Ultra. You may think it's the same camera but look at the difference.

  • The link below is really to a S8 conversation but the HTC U ULTRA is mentioned in a positive light on a few occasions as a comparison phone. So I'm posting the link. Don't believe the hype that the USB-C ear buds on this phone is a "no go" Don't believe the hype that the S8 runs smoother because its CPU/GPU is newer.

  • Two moths Iam using this phone I have to say this phone is awesome thanks htc you are back excellent battery

  • The phone is great! Thanks HTC

  • I love htc phones... I would have been happy if the screen is curved..as in using oled screen...htc should pls also reduce the bezel on it phone..thank

  • I hear you. wide phones are not for everyone. I love them because my long/big fingers feel less cramped. For me, I wish this was a 6" in the same aspect ratio, but the 5.7" is doable.

  • Thank you very much. But my wife didn't want to have it anymore anyway. She can't trust it anymore. So we returned it to HTC. Personally I liked it. It's nice phone. But for me it's too wide to use one hand. I need some smaller size. But thanks for advising. It's good to know this in the future.

  • :) Why are you in HTC forum if you prefer IOS devices ?

  • That's your personal preference. When you compared with head to head, HTC U ultra will be winner in every segment. That's the truth...

  • And that didn't help. So now are you willing to try what I have done for many years when it comes to smart phones. From HTC Windows Mobile, Samsung Android & HTC android. The cache partition holds hardware driver information along with other critical files for the operation of the OS. information written to the cache partition is not over written by a factory reset. And after a OTA update that old data may be written back to the main drive, causing conflicts with the new drivers. Which can show up as...... system apps missing new settings, freezing, crashing. A factory reset alone will not fix the problem because now the cache partition has both old and new info mixed together and as I said before factory reset will not clear the cache partition. The fix is to boot into the bootloader> wipe the cache partition > do a factory reset > wipe the cache partition again > reboot the phone. This will not brick your phone, this will not void your warranty. So you have nothing to lose. Tip:- 1. if you use the Google restore function. Don't restore the settings from a next phone to this phone. 2. Don't restore if there is a chance you may restore the problem. If you don't know how to wipe the cache partition from the bootloader, don't be afraid to ask for help. I asked for help finding it on this phone and I got it. That's what the forum is for.

  • No. I did everything right. Step by step as htc technician told me to do.

  • htc is better phone software and contruccion

  • No problems. If you did the ROM update without wiping your cache partition first (you may have update conflicts). You may want to wipe the cache partition now & factory reset from the bootloader.

  • Does anyone have any problems with this phone? I have crashing problem. The phone freezes than in few seconds reboots. Thank you

  • Have used this phone for the past 6 days. As I have used many flagships in my life, I know what I am talking about. This is really a wonderful piece of creation from HTC. Design, display, audio, cameras, smoothness and so on. Really excellent.

  • I'm sure if Sanju wanted to know about the iphone, Sanju would have gone in the iphone forum not the HTC U Ultra Forum. And if i every decide to switch over from Android to iOS i would take your opinion of which iPhone is the best into consideration. but its not helping some one to decide if the U Ultra is a good android phone or if they would be better off looking at a next android phone. key word ANDROID

  • Sorry boss But I think apple iPhone 7 plus is much better than Htc u ultra

  • Sorry boss But I think apple iPhone 7 plus is much better than Htc u ultra

  • Sorry boss But I think apple iPhone 7 plus is much better than Htc u ultra

  • What happened to this company, you were once my favorite, now your just down there with the rest of the sucky phone manufactures.

  • Thank you so much.

  • It has it. When you see bootloader go to boot recovery mode. Than when you see red triangle inside the phone push power button and volume up for a second and release volume button only but keeping power one on for 5 seconds longer.

  • Hi I like HTC phone but didn't reach do now company make tablet HTC why ? What problem all another company make and coming better with tablet have HTC company start following future not only stay make phone because now is future phone and tablet not future computer computers is start died in house only use hem office . I wish HTC start following future and start make tablet not only phone thanks

  • Happy to know you found the information helpful.

  • Thank you for the youtube Link. A very very nice unbiased review. It really helped me to make a decision. Went for the ultra.

  • follow up post 2..... with the OTA update the secondary screen now shows the time and battery % when ever you are viewing full screen content on the main screen. e.g. pictures and videos

  • yah sure

  • bro can i buy it...you are using this phone..is there any problem in battery sound //??

  • follow up post..... first change i notice is the clock on the secondary screen is now in the 12 hour format. and in the settings for the secondary screen you can now select which of your apps can send notifications to the second screen.

  • so this morning i see there is a 496.02mb update waiting to be installed. software update 1.15.617.12 i normally wipe my cache partition on my phones just before i install system updates. to help avoid update conflicts/bugs. but when i went into this phone boot loader, there is no option to wipe the cache partition. does any one know where to find it in the U Ultra?

  • Bro i am using this phone its very good sound quality its louder than the htc 10 and very nice camera today i compare with samsung s8 camera with u ultra its mack me surprise htc u ultra front abd back camera betterthan the s8 camera

  • ha ha how come its mid range specs LoL you didnt know about this phone

  • Sanju i think you should look at this. below is the link of the LG G6 VS HTC U Ultra user experience review. done by J. Williams on youtube

  • 10nm processor may be efficient but samsung UI is anything but efficient. they have the must power hungry UI in all android devises.

  • i started by saying a "Saturday out and about" meaning i wasn't spending the day living on my phone. i was out doors getting things done in the physical world. for the times i'm sitting for more than a hour on the phone. I'm in my car or home which means being able to plug in is not a problem. i was not given parameters by eeee123 to how the battery test should be done so i just gave a day that i didn't pug in at all till it was dead.

  • dont buy this mobile its very expensive the company is tricking you to buy it with very high price with midrange specs no head phone no wire less charging no way

  • if you read my Lenovo P1 review , i never done 20 minute review for each purpose. i drive 2 hours with GPS + data + LCD on . its consume 20% , that is call battery life for modern phone . how we survive by just play 20 minute online surfing for whole day........??

  • If you are looking to really personalise your U Ultra UI go to the HTC themes maker pro page. it goes alot deeper into customising than the editing in the built-in app. and it loads to the app for private or public use.

  • The cameras are excellent. No complaints. If you have used an HTC phone before, this camera is nothing like the cameras you are accustomed to from HTC.and there is not pink or purple spot that older HTCs are known for. The speakers are loud and very clear. But if I compare it to the HTC ONE MAX that has the front facing speakers.... The MAX is a tad louder and a little more base. The U Ultra is noticeably clearer with voice and music. As a right hander with big hands, I have to make a conscious effort not to block the bottom speaker with my little finger if I'm holding the phone 1 handed. If I'm comparing the speakers to the S7, the HTC U ULTRA is much better without a doubt. If you would like me to upload samples, just let me know.

  • Hi i planning to buy htc u ultra i need oppionion about sound speaker & main camera front & back how is it plz give me geniuly reply thank u

  • Phone is good, but highly over priced! I wish HTC could have priced it better for competition. It should have been below 50k in India. Certainly I would have Helped This Company (HTC)

  • because s8 uses 10nm processor compare to s7 14nm. 10nm processor will be power efficient

  • To the people that are complaining about no head phone jack or those that just want to know more about the ear buds in the box. They are great. I'm not a fan of ear buds because most times I find they put pressure on my inner ear, and the back of some feel like they are digging into you after long use. Well I just finished watching a movie on Netflix in bed with the ones in the box because I couldn't sleep and didn't want to wake my wife. Sweet base line without having to jam them down my ear canal. And because of the crank in the design and the shape of the back I wasn't getting the digging feeling. I could even turn on my side and not feel pain from having ear buds in my ear. So to rap things up. If you didn't pay more than $175US for analog head phones you want to hold on too, you probably going to like the sound and feel of what comes in the box more. O and it comes with 3 size tips as well, so it's not one size fits all.

  • fully agreed with u...

  • Did u see Samsung s8.=same features from last year s7 Battery same as ultra...now where are people who cursing HTC for smaller battery??? Does any one has guts to insult Samsung???

  • eeee123 I put my phone to charge at night when I'm going to sleep. I tried 3 times to stay up in bed to determine how long it takes to reach 100% but couldn't make it. Best I could tell you is 6%-38% took 30 mins with the phone on and a next 30mins to reach 70%

  • Anybody in 2017 still got brains? You are all talking and comparing a phone to phones that aren't even out yet. I enjoy this phone because it is a thing to be enjoyed, when did buying a phone become a game of what people paid to advertise products to you on Youtube mattered more than your own brains The phone works flawlessly, it is a culmination of taking patents from both Google and Apple and you guys are talking about Battery life? I mean do you even know what you do with your phone? It works for a day for a normal person perfectly fine, if it doesnt let it charge for 40 mins and get like 50% battery Buy one if you want a phone that will outlast the next Samsung S upgrade or Apple replacement year in, year out.

  • The colours on this LCD is sooooo rich. You wouldn't believe it's LCD when seen next to a next LCD phone.

  • Friends Iam using HTC ultra two weeks, display, sound, camera every thing is very good. Only battery is little problem have charge twice a day. Please use this phone ones and review.my English is not good please excuse

  • Battery consumption for a Saturday out and about. You should know i never turn off my data,WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS & Ok Google voice activation, "always on" from any screen. my usage was as follows... 27 minutes of audio recording. 25 minutes of using Waze navigation. 24 minutes of video recording with the main camera. 22 minutes total of facebook usage. 22 minutes total of web browsing. 6 minutes of watching videos on the YouTube app 16 minutes total of "Okay Google" voice assistance usage. 30 minutes of phone calls. some minor viber & whatsapp chatting. After 13 hours 8 minutes i was down to 3% 3 hours & 41 minutes of that time was screen on time. note: in the last 3% i got a call and it lasted 9 seconds, then the phone died.

  • Samsung Galaxy S8 has 5.8" screen with 3000mAh battery while HTC U Ultra has 5.7" screen with same battery capacity of galaxy S8

  • A question for the owners of this phone, tell me about the battery regarding duration to full charge and for how long it stays.

  • Try doing a hardware audio test. Go to your app tray and open "help" tap on Hardware misbehaving>hardware diagnostics>Audio test. do the test. the last part of the test is the speakers used for your ring tone. if its not loud then you have a speaker problem and should send the phone back for a replacement. if it is loud, you need to find a better ring tone or check you volume settings for something that is not all the way up. note: as each audio test is going on, press on the volume up just to be sure it's on full volume for that speaker.

  • I did what you said already but still the same

  • 1. Go in settings and set boom sound for built in speaker to "music" 2. Also be sure that your volume setting in sound & notifications is all the way up for " ringtone & notifications" the volume default setting is half.

  • Why the sound of ringtone is very low!! I hear my phone hardley

  • I used to be HTC fan.. but the camera & battery keep on pushing me away from HTC :( However, HTC U Ultra's camera & battery are really giving me surprise, beyond my expectations! Camera - Some reviews said its same level with Pixel XL?! Battery - With 3000mah, 5.7 QHD secreen.. endurance rating 81h?! Impressive!

  • HTC, I never oppose to change. But u are not apple, u might be a little risky to take away the 3.5mm jack at this moment. Good luck.

  • To the owners of the phone. I have notice that in split screen some apps can be resized and some can not. Some apps don't go in split screen at all. clearly with is not a problem of the phone. so for the apps that you need full split screen functionality with resizing, please contact the developer and ask them to do a split screen and resizing support update.

  • This phone does not support Reliance Jio sim. The default dialer and default messaging app does not work with JIO sim. On enquiry with Htc suport centre it was informed that an update is in the offing for this problem. Till then you have to use two dets of apps for dialing and sms. Hold your buying till the problem is resolved.

  • Oops itz honda civic!!!!

  • Just now watched jerryrigeverything teardown, priced as lamborgini but worth for honda city.....

  • as my longer post looks like it is not going to go up, this is the shortened version is it good for the price? for me yes. 1. It has the U.I. that i absolutely enjoyed using on the HTC ONE MAX but now it's much faster and smoother on the U Ultra. 2. It still has the big screen and i can use split screen apps on it now. 3. laud speaker volume is much clearer but a tad softer. but still much better than what i here on a S7. 4. camera is leaps better than that of the ONE MAX. 5. ok google is truly hands free now as it works with the screen locked/off and only responds to my voice. (not just any voice) and the response time is much faster. 6. there is no light bleed. 7. there are no gaps in the construction. 8. there is no speaker rattle. 9. the camera bump does not go pass the case. 10. and i'm even surprised that i like the finger print scanner in the front. especially now that it tunes on the screen and unlocks the phone with just one touch. the only thing i'm missing right now are those front fire-ring babies as my finger can get in the way of the down fire-ring one from time to time. but the rest of the phone is better than the one max. and i'm pretty sure the speakers on this is better than what is going to come on the S8 or G6 so it was a good buy for me. note:- if you are buying this for the looks of the back and think you can put a clear case on it for protection, then don't bother buying it. any case on it greatly decreases how sexy the back is.

  • for me it is? for you it may not be. you have to know what you NEED in a phone and what you are will to pay to get that need... i gave my reasons in a next post to you, but it was so long that it is under review before it goes live. what do you want to know about this phone to help you know if it is worth it or not?

  • Thanks for going into more detail about what you meant by questionable durability. and i can't disagree, glass can never be stronger than metal on any phone.

  • Did I say that s6 and the laters are any more durable than this one? Of course their durability is also questionable. Hell even my z5's durability is questionable, but z5 has edges to protect the glasses on both front and back. This 2,5d glass is prone to shatter much easier than z5 though. Same goes for all 2,5D glass phones. There is no denial that u ultra is very beautiful, more than HTC 10. But HTC 10 is obviously much more durable than it. Of course appearance is subjective, for example I happen to like z5's bezels and sides when most hate them, so there is no argument about the appearance topic. Still we can argue about glass durability, there is no denial that glass is fragile.

  • Does any one here use magnetic USB-C charging cables? I would like some feedback on what brand is performing good or what brand to avoid.

  • is it good for the price?

  • What the hck makes this worths 900 euro !!!

  • Even the GSM arena staff are agreeing with me.It seems some people know a real critic like me and summed up everything i said :) Pretty much every critic out there are supporting my accusations and say the same.I am glad others think the same and i will continue to fight you over this phone becoz i am always right :) About the light bleed. It might be a defected unit. And you said there is none so we finished that. But pointing it out it's sad and pathetic only to cover up the MAJOR FLAWS this phone has that.Even the official staff of GSMaren are agreeing with me.

  • Phone looks good, camera seems to be promising. The only thing I have to criticize is the battery. 3000mAh is too small for a 5.7 inch phone.

  • that may be true but i'm not going to take your word for it when i comes to what phone is good, it has, don't have or there defects. you enjoy feeding misinformation. e.g. I offer to show you proof there is no light bleed and you reply "no need to show me anything" your mind is set and there is nothing any one here could say to make you believe that some of what you "know" is not correct. yes 800+ is alot. and don't buy it if you don't want what it has to offer. (there is a reason i didn't go from S3 to any other S phone. there is a reason i didn't go to a next HTC till now from the ONE MAX) but making sh*t up.... that's just sad. So for the reset of the readers i'll will continue to call out your sh*t. LOL

  • Sounds like a good goal to have to defend this company or the specific phones.Just to inform you i never was on HTC forums before becoz i didn't care about their phones.Since they weren't much of a deal with their older chipsets used on brand new phones but with appropriate price tags. But this one caught my eye only becoz of the huge price tag and the parts used (or not used).I am glad you are happy with your phone but just letting you know many phones would have been a better choice than this and to everyone else.

  • I'm just pointing out your incorrect information for the other readers that may not have any of the phones you are talking about and don't know that you are just talking from videos you saw on YouTube, not personal experience. (so your information is not always correct) and there is no need to feel sorry or happy for me, I'm happy with this phone as an upgrade from the HTC ONE MAX and it was not your money i spent. When i find something i don't like about it, ill post that too. but the difference between me on you is.... i'll be talking from actual usage about my likes and dislikes. something I have done in the past with the HTC Touch HD, HD2, Samsung S3 & the HTC ONE MAX. I'm here to lean new things about a phone i have and to inform others that need info. you are in the U Ultra forum because......aaaaaa? I don't know or care because the pity you give isn't worth anything and don't change my life in any way. i will just continue to correct any wrong information you feel like repeating from YouTube.

  • What a ugly i-copycat phone!? Nothing from beautiful "One M9 or S9"...? WHY?

  • Stop criticizing this Phone and HTC. Do you know if phone screens break in one year, or any mishaps happens....HTC will replace it for free. Does any other company doing that?

  • I am glad you wasted your money on a worthless phone then.Good job.No need to show me anything, just the fact you spent money on this phone earns you my pity.

  • They don't but they have everything else or most of it.Plus Samsung and Sony already bought all SD 835.So there is no point to argue over it.

  • Actually the S7 Edge during bend test didn't shatter it's glass unlike the Ultra did.Nor the Honor 8.That's what i meant.

  • None of the phones you mentioned have the chipset you are criticizing this phone for not having. And that includes the G6 which is a 2017 phone that is not even selling yet.

  • What exactly do you mean by questionable durability due to glass build? The S6,7&8 are also all glass. Are you questioning their durability too? Is it that all, all class phones are not premium built phones in your book?

  • For a phone of this size htc should had try harder. No stereo speakers, no headphone jack, no waterproofing, battery small for a phone of this size, questionable durability due to the glass build and on top of these a premium price tag without the phone being premium.

  • for your information Rex Tech and for the other people that may have believed you. the capacitive touch area of the the "back" and "task switcher", is not as small as the lit icons. the touch area actually spans the entire area between the home key and the lit icons, and that isn't small. so again, don't repeat things you didn't try your self.

  • I've just upgraded to u ultra and love it. The camera It's amazing the screen is brill the secondary screen is fabulous. And HTC assistant came PRE INSTALLED!! so all you who say otherwise I suggest u get a real phone from a real shop. HTC have done themselves proud this time. Is large, light, fast and you can do so much if u watch the tutorial video on HTC website. 😀

  • for the people that have been watching reviews that said the phone is to big for 1 handed typing, you should know the default keyboard can be resized and relocated to any where on the screen. If only the reviewer had taken the time to go in the keyboard settings that's right there in the top left of the keyboard.

  • When you taking about flaws in a phone you should be sure YOU saw it your self. Not what someone with a rushed promotional model that way bought on eBay had to say about it. I have one directly from HTC.com and it has no light bleed I'll gladly post pictures online if you would like to see.

  • This phone assume... Really battery is very good and camera is best ...the beautiful mean this just because of second display phone is big ...but I love it HTC sense make me relax

  • We have not reached the price yet !? Tell me a model that does all these remarks: -Doesn't have a new chipset (Doesn't have SD 835) -Looks like Samsung -No wireless charging -Ultra Small battery -No waterproof -No headphone jack -Super tiny buttons with finger print on a small button compared to the phone size -Average camera performance compared to LG G6 and Samsung S7 edge -Top of the screen has light flaw

  • Do a phone finder search on gsmaren and do it yourself. For me i will give you few phones that pass my marks and are cheaper than this.LG G6,Zte axon 7,Oneplus3t,Huawei mate 9,Samsung S7 edge and pretty much all flagships coming in few months.

  • Bend test failed.Durability sad and pathetic.Even more reason not to buy this phone.Even the glass Huawei Honor 8 beats it and the Nokia 6

  • Show me a phone where all of the extras you attend?

  • To sum up from me and my previous amazing phone critics this phone has these major flaws for a flagship device: -Doesn't have a new chipset (Doesn't have SD 835) -Looks like Samsung -No wireless charging -Ultra Small battery -No waterproof -No headphone jack -Super tiny buttons with finger print on a small button compared to the phone size -Average camera performance compared to LG G6 and Samsung S7 edge -Top of the screen has light flaw This phone isn't even worth 450$.And has huge bezels.

  • Couldn't agree more. Also add that this phone doesn't have wireless charging (something that LG G6 has) and it's buttons are small compared to the bottom bezel.Plus the finger print is in front on a super tiny button.Which is absurd.

  • Well said. Am having it for a month and its a great phone. I like the wider design of 5.7" better that the taller design like in LG G6. Just would prefer if they had a local gallery app instead of routing it to Google photos. I don't always stay online especially when I travel abroad. Else just need to synch it when I get a WiFi Connection. Otherwise superb feel.

  • If you really listen to their reason for saying do not buy, you would realise it's kind of lame. 1. Don't buy because the battery is small… did any of the YouTube reviewers you look at tell how much screen on time they were getting, or were they just quoting battery size? 2. Don't buy because it ripped off LG second screen…. Is the second screen a bad thing? So what if they didn't invent it. may things we buy are not made buy the people that invented it. 3. Don't buy because the back looks like Samsung…. Does that make it look ugly, I think not. 4. Don't buy because of no head phones jack…… what comes in the box is much better than what most people use. I for one have never spent over $100US on headphones. 5. Don't buy because it's not waterproof. Well I ride in the rain with my HTC ONE MAX and that phone is more than 2 years old and still working with no waterproofing. 6. Don't buy because of CPU… but LG is using the same CPU in the G6 and the same reviewers are not saying don't buy the G6. 7. Don't buy because it's big… but what if you like big phones? 8. Don't buy because of the price... If it's too much money for you to spend on a phone, then yes, don't buy it. But that doesn't make it a bad phone. So don't just hear “don't buy” and jump and say “YES!” Listen to what the reviewers are objecting to and see if it's things that are going to affect you in your life style. (e.g. if you never use corded headphones are you going to “not buy a phone” because of the lack of the 2.5 port? be real) And just as there are reviewers that are saying it bad there are others that like it. So test it out and make up your own mind don't have someone on YouTube make your mind up for you.

  • To all the people talking from the side of HTC U ULTRA, are all those Youtubers lying about this phone not to buy this or the rival companies paid them not to give a true honest non-biased review? HTC once was a classy phone. Was. When the era of Samsung S series just began. But no more. Truth is bitter. But it is what it is. Use a Oneplus device and then use a HTC. You will get to know what I am talking about. Even new companies like Oneplus and Xiaomi are rocking the market whereas HTC is falling down the pit @ 100m/s

  • This is a phone with the greatest visual area!

  • The U Ultra is $801.43US after taxes

  • Tibs You are just contradicting yourself all the way around. The U ultra does have a robust build. And the battery also out last the m8 in usage. U Ultra has a better DAC than the M8. I would know, as I live in a house that has both. matter of fact the audio on the HTC ONE MAX, that is older than the M8 has better Audio than the M8. (that's the phone I upgraded from.) And why do you think the U ultra is not stable? Did you even try the phone before you criticised the things you know you don’t like about it, or you just talking from what you see on YouTube?

  • Hi.3000 batrey is very low for u ultra. What happend to htc.htc now made bad phones with very high prices.

  • HTC sense companion available ->

  • I want to find out the price of such a product in us$

  • that glossy reflective design is awfull, fingerprint magnet... and no headphone jack... are you serious HTC? it looks like Samsung galaxy phone on the first look.. i wouldn't be surprised if Samsung will sue you guys on design patent infringement lol. I am a great HTC fan i still have HTC One M8 robust build, AWESOME audio quality, thats what is important for me...not fingerprint detection, face recognition, i dont even care about camera... i want stability, robust design and audio quality. Dont look like Samsung or Sony please. AND LEAVE THAT HEADPHONE JACK THERE!!! lol HTC U = disappointment on a few things i really hope it is not your flagship phone.

  • You the guys are afraid of about this product that what bad mouthing arises, and if u don't know about the next level of matured innovation it is like cat on the dark room...

  • Dear HTC, Why HTC10 or HTC U Ultra on keyboard Khmer Unicode not full? Especially on Let "J" no function to input like other phone brand???? Really wonder as other have full function to input on typing, but HTC no. Pls update asap.

  • Hey mate, this is NOT a flagship, HTC 11 is.

  • On Amazon the price of the HTC u ultra is dropping already and it's not been out all that long,I'd say that's a bad sign it's losing its value so much already.

  • I have no idea what htc is doing!! I mean where's the all metal body? Where's the iconic boomsound? Where's the infrared port and the radio?? Are you freaking kidding me? Htc is dead right after the one m8.

  • Pass on the no headphone jack

  • Over priced to a 2015 model......RIP HTC

  • Seems like HTC forget how to make a flagship

  • Nice 2015 phone HTC..

  • He means Samsung spends too much money on advertising their phones. More than HTC. Therefore people praise Samsung's trash more than HTC phones. Samsung's phones are overrated and with time become slow, however idiots like them more than HTC. Any how there are billions of isheep who buy apples overpriced products. So no wonder that HTC is loosing. Tjis time is the time of worthless. THIS WHAT HE MEANT.

  • Can somebody please translate this?

  • Samsung has lot of budget to spend for advertisement ehere as htc, you need to think on that way. This phonr is simply wow

  • Better to have a brief watch on official site. In short this phone is WOW.

  • Htc 10 - 5.2inch with 3000mAh. U Ultra - 5.7inch and 2.1inch with 3000mAh. Luckily got QC3.0

  • Phone looks cool especially the blue one. But price is a bummer. Here in India, it's Rs 59990 (approx $945)

  • thanks for the heads up. I'LL start looking for a TPU case for this then. the TPU martial seems to be good at absorbing shock. As for mounts, you may want to give the (Mengo Lumi Bike Mount) a try. it has no plastic parts to break. its all silicone. been using it from the beginning of January with my HTC ONE MAX and i road ride 3 times a week. no accidents yet, cross my fingers.

  • Once upon a Time i was a HTC fan.... still rocking my M9, Next phone: Sony XZ Premium

  • Haha really? S7 edge got uncountable awards of best phone of the year. Htc 10 got even 1? I am not telling HTC 10 is bad, but it's not as good as the Galaxy S7 Edge

  • You need a really good case to protect your phone if cycling, the mount I had for my note 4 attached to broke and sent my poor old note cartwheeling down the course chip ashfelt at about 17 kph , it bounced hard enough to rip the case off on the last bounce, and it landed face down with a thud, the old note still lives but with some battle scars , I'm fairly confident of two things , the rugged case took most of the punishment. The second thing, regardless of the case I think a more modern fragile all glass device would more than likely have not survived such a beating regardless of the case .

  • where is the second display?

  • No way my friend. S7 edge is a good phone but it is very fragile; it does not compare to HTC phones at all.

  • ordered the black directly from HTC USA because i wanted the UH OH protection. Now i'm just waiting for shipments to begin. i know the quality and performance i have gotten from HTC over the years, (and the many problems i had with the SIII) that's why i ordered this, instead of waiting for the S8+ even if the S8+ spec looks really cool on paper.

  • Sony have been doing a very good job on optimizing performance since the beginning of the Z series. I have a Xperia SP and I got Xperia XZ a few months ago and I was amazed by how good they optimized the apps and performance. Good job Sony

  • I want this phone bad ....so so so ....I'm buy it even by this price after all HTC finally fix camera problems and only interface in Android is better is sense so ....I buy black 😁

  • #epic fail

  • In this price u can buy two one plus 3

  • This piece of crap costs almost double the price of an OnePlus 3T, but isn't capable to outperform it at all. The OnePlus 3T offers less screendiameter and resolution, but it has the bigger battery, more RAM and ROM and better OS.

  • Anybody got news when the 128GB version will be out?

  • Clearly NO! THe best is still S7 Edge, and followed by LG V20, Google Pixel and HTC 10 at 4th spot.. :)

  • I'm using Z3 for 2 years, then Z5P for 1 years, and XZ from last november until now, and i will buy XZP when it arrive soon.. Sony is always Sony, the best.. Only people who using Sony know how good the performance, ability to match the system on different SOC very2 well..

  • Lets hope the XZ Premium can bring back the Sony we used to know :)

  • Sony can not make phones, but still trying :)

  • am i the only one seeing the crystal sapphire display for the 64 gig

  • Well HTC U Ultra kinda sucks...Snapdragon 821,4GB RAM QHD display with 3000mah that cost $900. It isn't "overkill" at all, unless it have the overkill specs of the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ Premium, that price tag will be acceptable

  • Sadly, 3000mah battery for this phone What a pity this phone will not sell well

  • I asked about the case because i road cycle. and have already broken 4 phone bike mounts by some plastic connection or the other. sending my HTC ONE MAX tombing across the asphalt road. the only thing that has kept the screen from cracking is the lip of my TPU case around the edge of the screen. i have moved away from mounts with any plastic parts, to one make of all silicone and it is holding well so far. I'm planing to upgrade to this phone. and just wanted to know if the case will properly protect the edges of the phone in a road tumble, if my silicone mount were to rip or burst. i don't see any proper pictures of the case so i don't know if it properly covers the sides and top edges of the phone. so if the people that have the phone already think i should invest in a transparent TPU case at the same time as i buy the phone, please say. or if you think the case in the box will do the trick that is good to know as well. The case gets scratched up, i don't mind. it's the phone breaking if it goes flipping across the road, i'm thinking about.

  • Still HTC 10 better than this

  • Clearly ur an ignorant desperate person who dont have purpose in life except giving false facts and feedback. I dont think you own the phone and will never own it because u dont deserve it. U and ur kind are forbidden from smartphone and should stick to ur nokia 3310. I have the phone and none of the stupid comments you mentioned is true. So please give yourself and us a favor by jumping off the building while holding your nokia.

  • The case is pretty decent and is on par or a bit better than most after market snap on hard shell cases. It does scratch super easy though, I have been using mine for a day and it is already scratched to hell with normal use.

  • HTC Ultra is Best in other HTC model. Battery charging is very slow Battery doesn't last long time Phone until much used becomes very hot. Audio Sound is poor. Computing is weak and very slow than other HTC model. Campera is poor than other HTC model. It doesn't support 4k video recording by Hi-res audio quality. Doesn't display used Super LCD5 and then Screen size is 5.7 inches. Don't play resolution is 2K Display. Body Design is ugly and dark by liquid crystal color glass.

  • When I first saw this phone I thought it was a expensive mess but as time goes on and the more reviews and unboxings I see it's really starting to grow on me and I do have a HTC10 myself and also a G5 and I do like my G5 more though but my HTC 10 is a very good smartphone. I just might get myself a Ultra for my next daily driver but I do hope the price falls a little soon.

  • if u need this phone pls move to samsung galaxy S7 edge. dnt waste the money s7 edge is far far better than htc U. Bcz of the best mobile phone in 2016 awarded from WMC. the design is the world's best. The dual pixel lense with f1.7,OIS, DIS,VDIS the unmatched clarity never give in HTC The SMOLED QuadHD display with 570 ppi IP68 water and Dust resistant the best gaming graphics in ever 3600mah super charging with wirless charging DUAL Antina technology give excellent calling experience the 12nm technology gives best graphics and best in class performance dnt waste the much of money for the HTC U just smart and move to SAMSUNG galaxy S7 EDGE

  • The quality of case comes with it is ok. But the glass back seems pretty solid. I didnt have any scratches on the back glass side so far and I didnt use any cases since I got it.

  • To the people hear that already have this phone.... would you say that the case it comes with is good? or should i buy as 3rd party clear TPU case when i'm buying the phone, if a want protection against cracking with falls on a asphalt road?

  • Just goes to show you can't please every one. I want to upgrade to this from a HTC ONE MAX. so for me the screen could be bigger. The MAX has a 5.9" screen. but i'm beginning to think HTC has no intention to go that size ever again. So i got to stop holding out, hoping for bigger in the next 2 years.

  • £100 more than it should be but the real deal breaker (and I would get it otherwise) is the lack of headphone jack. Yes, I have wireless headphones but tend to use them wired 99% of the time and I do not see why I should compromise. Momentum Wireless & B & O H8 owner here. Looking like the G6 or S8 for my next upgrade............or just wait for Pixel XL 2!

  • cherry mobile

  • 2ns screen is really fun, creative and very useful touch . But 5.7 is pretty huge, I would definitely go for it if only it were 5 or 5.2 inches. ((

  • I really dont know your phone condition ... your camera glass is scrached? or battery was overcharged too many times (so loses capacity and stability) or you let your phone overheats so your phone start restarts itself? there are so many user coused worst thing with any phone if you understand me ... i have a few friends with S7 and S7 edge and everything is just fine with them ( in my country only exinos model is avalible and it still rocks)

  • Meant who in there right mind is gona pay £650 in the UK for the HTC ultra, too much money.

  • Htc expects me to pay £650 for a ultra in the uk when I can import a lg v20 which has similar specs for only £400,obviously I would go for the v20. This phone is just too damn expensive who in there right mind is gona

  • Probably the worst for me..S7 edge?? its meh...i use it..its junk

  • Not really... S7 edge is not just certificate one .... and not the same camera at all go and see some review ... its better software-optimized cam even if they use same sensor... also battery performance and Samsung's optimizations on chipset make a huge difference but 10 isnt trash... 10 is one of the best ofc... its just my opinion... V20 is king of all for me (yes i use 2 batteries) but i will wait for V30 to see can lg improve battery perform ... g6 is almost same so not worth yet for me to change my V20 manual beast...

  • HTC Ultra is Best in other HTC model. Battery charging is very fast. Battery use long time is good. Phone until much used is not heat. Audio Sound is Best. Computing speed is very fast than other HTC model. Campera is best than other HTC model. Support 4k video recording by Hi-res audio quality. Display used Super LCD5 and then Screen size is 5.7 inches. Didplay resolution is 2K Display. Body Design is beautiful and bright by liquid crystal color glass.

  • Gs7edge and htc 10 both have same camera, but 10 front cam is better, also htc 10 has better design with premium and excellent body material,10 has better sound quality and.... S7 edge has better ip certificate and nothing more. SO HTC 10 IS BETTER. all of flagships are good enough but htc 10 is the best. Now htc U Ultra is the best phone releases till now

  • I don't know which one Xperia but without doubt s7 edge worth every penny also HTC 10 is awesome... I'm an iOS hater so still s7 looks like best option for now

  • This is why hTC is falling behind day by day. 5.7" quad hd display but only 3000 mah battery !! Though the thickness is 8 mm, they failed to put 4000 mah which is standard for this size & this quality display. Shame ! Shame !

  • Which is better htc 10? Samsung s7 edge or xperia or iphone7?

  • I just want to say that HTC had only one bad year in 2015, but its still alive. I really like this phone. It's nut too expensive compare to note 7.

  • its just great ...first time make me fell good

  • Huge footprint HTC is dieing

  • Mr Twit how is the ONE x9 equivalent? The one X9 has a…. smaller screen lower resolution lower pixel density Mediatek chipset Less RAM No laser & phase detection focus Much Lower mp front camera Not usb 3.1

  • Where is the stereo speakers????

  • This phone seems like a waste of money for what it offers... I can buy an equivalent phone from HTC (ie. One X9) for $359 Australian dollars (and it comes with a headphone jack)!

  • Does it have ANT+ support? Would be really nice if I could also use it as a cycling computer.

  • Indeed, the price and battery life is a joke!

  • Over-priced and mediocre battery life!

  • horrible

  • Couldn't agree more. This phone is awesome. Just started using it today. So far I like what I'm seeing. Just suspicious on the battery bit but we'll see how this goes. Sapphire blue is stunning indeed.

  • Not always changes are welcome. HTC nailed its unique-old-but-gold design language.

  • Thnx for this review... The screen of my LG G4 broke yesterday and the release of the LG G6 or Samsung S8+ is not for tommorow... LG did not find it important to release the LG V20 in Belgium... Now the HTC U Ultra seems tot be a good (read better) alternative to the V20...

  • usb-c instead of headphone jack

  • Too expensive!

  • I am using the phone for the past 3 days and I am absolutely loving it. I went through the below comments quickly before posting this just to see if someone alse is sharing the same experience as I am but unfortunately it was filled with non sense, wrong feedback and ignorant people. So build quality is super premium well designed (sapphire blue), screen resolution and color reproduction are on point and very bright and vivid (Accurate sums that line). loudspeaker is fantastic its crisp, clear and gets really loud without any distortion. Cameras are the best feature i love about this phone its sharp, great low light performance and buttery smooth 4k videos. Performance is top notch as expected from a flagship. The only drawback about this phone is Battery and Price. Battery is Average to good at best (4:30 - 5 hours Screen on time) and the price is higher than expected. Bottom line is if you're thinking to buy one get it but keep in mind those points above.

  • guys... HTC make really great units (but just few) starting from release date: M8 A9 10 and your favorite Google Pixel .... look ... they have really great units... but their price is ridiculous... htc 10 worth only... they have amazing build quality... nice design language and good performance... but htc have some really bad things like speakers at first place... camera isn't nothing special (don't mean it's bad) I don't see point of htc sense... there's no sense... also slow unlocking bootloaders... overall these units are nice for about 300-400 Euro ... I'm an LG fanboy so i will take Samsung to compare with it.. better design (more stylish and same build quality) better camera's better support and costumer care ofc screens cant be compared even im not an AMOLED fan... just couse watermarks (most ppl don't know what watermark is) and they pick Samsung... speakers are pretty much same... Samsung galaxy S7 is and it will be better than Pixel (current Best of both companies) even Google has a better costumer care than just HTC... but s7 is cheaper than Pixel alot just for few months behind in Googles OS... best phone for me (and my phone) is V20 but i don't wanna sound like hater or fanboy but this phone doesn't worth 740 for sure... SD 835 phones will be 700-800 at start of producing... few months later much cheaper...

  • HTC U Ultra, but! No with this price! Wait for reduce price and don't forget snap 821 about %10 in power+battery usage >820

  • From ouside to me it looks like Samsung copy

  • XZ. U Ultra is too pricey for what it offers. If you are from India, XZ is lot cheaper than U Ultra.

  • Really like the phone, even I didn't touch it,feel it or see how it looks like.....hope it will be sold in PNG soon.

  • This phone specs is a joke when compared to Huawei Mate 9. The battery life is gonna suck!

  • Well I would not buy a 5.7 inch but the Sapphire looks pretty kewl..

  • HTC going effin mad....they launched this mobile in India Rs 59,990. Can you believe....people will buy Iphone instead of this.

  • if battery is not your Concern...blindly go for HTC...u gonna feel great trust me.

  • hi friend's, which is best htc u ultra or sony xperia xz.?

  • It is the charging socket, type C cable.

  • htc 10 is better than that.

  • don't buy this at high price...

  • Good specs but no headphone jack, removable battery and especially no stereo speakers? Another phone so close but no sale for me!

  • No 3.5mm jack headphone+850 OyrO it's not acceptable

  • Wow it's in store ....I love it ...good news

  • So just had a live model to get ready to display.... Got really hot and had to turn it off as it was starting to smell haha......

  • having seen it in the flesh i have one question wheres the headphone socket at?

  • battery 3000mha better 4000mah up I buy htc 728 battery not good and very longtime charging

  • lol he will probably receive a photo of the phone and realise to late after not reading the small print in description.

  • It's available already in Saudi Arabia in some stores. Jarir and extra stores have them.

  • htc u ultra...

  • No it is not better check display quality and cpu, you think if it has 6 gb version it is automatically better, whell no.

  • U Ultra is much much better

  • Which one is good ? HTC U Ultra or HTC Desire 10 Pro ??? Please someone help

  • Which one is good ? HTC U Ultra or HTC Desire 10 Pro ??? Please someone help

  • samsung c9 is better than htc u ultra...if it is low price, think about to buying this mobile.

  • when its going to launch in india?? eagerly waiting. HTC please keep price low otherwise it cant compete upcoming sd835 phones.

  • note 5?!!!

  • Why microSD, up to 256 GB (uses SIM 2 slot)

  • It's just a note 5 with the options it should have had to me!?

  • It's just a better note 5

  • So is all the glass sapphire in the 128G version ?

  • Same as the play, relative to its impressive running power and the , the battery is the wrong choice, users will have to be very precise with power settings to get through the day. No 3.5mm..just bugs me. People have been returning to 5.5 inch plus devices, in 2014 the demand in my shop was gone, but its coking back hard, and HTC had an early opportunity to capitilise..theyve only partially taken it for me,

  • it's not even March yet. the only thing you could be getting now on eBay is scammed.

  • Is there different variants for different regions with U Ultra? I'm about to get one on Ebay and just want to make sure I can use it up here in Canada!

  • The mics setup on this phone sound impressive check out: battery is a reason to worry, high res screen powerful CPU but just 3000mah battery it's a pity, it will be good for around 5 hours screen on time

  • My options (so far) are HTC U Ultra, Samsung S8 Plus, LG G6. I want a good camera so I will let DxOMark decide wich phone to buy...

  • just faster i want buy new phone and its my next

  • sound is not better than the previous htc product

  • you have seen the software for this phone in action already? you have seen pictures from the camera already? you already know what the audio sounds like?

  • battery-poor ram-good main camera-poor design-new it's not water proof over all the moblie going to failure... bcaz main reason is there is no improvement in hardware and software.

  • yes planing was involved. this has bean in planning for years already. that's why there is even hardware and software capable of doing it. i have even owned PC speakers in the past that connected via USB for power and to play the audio. now with USB-C being smaller and reversible, it is going to make it even easier to market. and once the move starts, it is not going to take 10 years if the younger generation of consumers are accepting of it. which most of them will be because what jack is used to connect headphones to a mobile device is just not that important to most people.

  • Okay so ditch all headphone jacks on headphones and replace them with USB type C male plugs, is that what you're trying to say? Now I'm currently agreeing with you, but it's a change that will take at least a decade to fulfill. Companies can't just say "Alright listen up, from now on we are removing the headphone jack on all devices", that is going to cause economic chaos. Radical changes like these need to be carefully planned.
