The G300 is a quite good budget phone. I like first of all the 4 inch screen as Huawei could easily have produced a smaller screen for the price and i am a fan of decently large screens. The resolution is also decent with the screen looking fairly bright and clear. I feel the touchscreen is not always as touch responsive as it could be but speed is reasonable. The hardware is fairly nice looking for the price and is fairly durable with the phone surviving several drops without a cracked screen although the back is fairly scratch-prone. I personally am not a huge fan of Huawei products since i prefer slightly more established manufactures but this phone is fairly decent overall. I feel the battery life could be slightly improved considering the phone is low power but it is not bad.

It does not work anymore. NO NETWORK SERVICE.. the phone still turns on, connects to wifi, and can still download apps and etc.. but cant be used for calls!

I love this phone. The google with their updates, the phone is getting slower. It's fine to go to Fb Lite, normal, don't even think about it. Post fotos on Instagram, play a lite game. The battery it's good. I work on a Hotel and I walk a lot, with answer the phone all day long, in and out from elevators, searching for signal, the battery old on for almost 2 days. 0 to 10 stars I give a 8!

First of all I got this phone about 1 year ago, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, not even to someone who is patient because it will definitely get on your nerves! During the first few months it worked just fine, but then it got rly slow and sooo laggy, applications not responding, camera not connecting, battery dies after a few hrs or shuts down completely when an application is not responding plus its camera is quite shitty, I would have expected it it to be quite good for a 5mp. Be careful what to buy, not everything on the market is worth your money !!

I have this phone for almost a year now. In the beginning it was a very good phone, functioned well & was pretty fast. Now, after a little less than a year, it goes sooooo slow. It also hasn't enough memory in it (which you can fix with an extern memorycard ofcourse) and gives me default messages alot when I try to open some apps. And with alot, I mean: every time I try to open one, I have to wait 2 minutes because of the defauilts while there is actually nothing wrong with it. Tried to reset it several times, but the problem remains the same. What I miss about this phone is the fact that it doesn't have a frontcam. It would've been lovely. Oh, and the battery dies real quick too. If I have my cellphone on in the morning (with full battery), without really using it, it already ate half the battery by 12 o'clock. When I put it off in the afternoon and I turn my cellphone back on in the evening, I suddenly get a message that my battery's almost dead... I wouldn't really advice this cellphone to anyone, I regret buying it and will buy another phone soon. This one makes me crazy.

I own this phone. It has enough power to play smoothly Temple Run 2. I am very happy that i still recive updates to Google Keyboard - awesome. Sometimes you have to give him some time to "think", but overall performance is OK. Weather, Gmail, YouTube, Facebook. Not best choice for games, but IT'S A PHONE - Made for communications. Tablets are the best choice for games. Bye Bye!

It works well, reactions sometimes freeze but in this price group was the phone with best ratio price/perfomance. Design of this mobile phone is wider as you expect, but in larger hands it fit at all. However, reliability of this phone, form my point of view, decreases to absolute zero, because of error with camera ("cannot connect to camera") and, of course, factory reset was not! helpful. After 1 year of using phone everyday, Ascend started freezing, and only battery takes out was conducive (as well as press the power button did not help), also blue screen of death started shows. After this problems, I must confess that factory reset was not heplful at all, so the phone goes to complaint. Finally, as I asked for a spare parts in repair shop, they (in 3 repair shops) said that, they cannot repair it at all. After all, I do NOT recommend this mobile phone. Note: My new steps will go to other brands especially Samsung or Sony.

Quite weak one, but I got it cheap so nothing to complain about. Installed slim rom(ICS 4.0.3), works good enough and what most important for me is that battery life is quite good(3-5 days, even possible 7 days), anyway no need to charge everyday. As for power, I don't play too much(mostly emulators), well it is kinda weak, but what do you expect from cheap device.

The phone is great, I use mine with the SIM ONLY offer from 3, I tether it to my laptop and other devices and it works a dream. The usability features of the phone are in line with the price you pay! You buy a budget phone don't expect premium features like on an iphone.

silly me i went straight to the upgrade to ics, and now its so slow and crashes almost constantly, never any free ram and even though i have installed nothing on the phone i only have 100mb free, this relates to the Vodafone UK model, there is a downgrade option though it wouldn't work for me

The screen was faulty on my G300,sent it back to Huawei, replaced it free of charge and upgraded it to Android 4.0 ICS from gingerbread which was well needed. Good phone for its budget price, 1GHz processor is adequate but don't expect blistering browsing speed. Overall great phone for its price even if it is a year old.

This is an awesome phone. Not saying because of its availability at such a low price but only because of its popularity. Got this phone from my brother and oh boy what a great piece of device it is. If you are a freak who loves to try so many custom roms then this phone is for you. Whatever query you have regarding this phone if you just google it you will get a definite answer. And this phone is popular in xda developers and modaco as it has all the custom roms tailor made for this. And the best of the best things is that there is a separate site for this phone www.huaweig300.com which explains rooting process, custom recovery installation process and custom roms installation process like you are a 5 year old with screenshots and steps. But this phone is not the one for gaming. Basic 2D games will run fine but even a little bit of 3D addition will make your face turn blue. My suggestion. First time smartphone owners can definitely go for this device but others can use it as a test phone if you desire.

The phone has very limited internal storage and comes packed with google apps that you can't delete or move to an sd card.so even with my large external sd card the phone starts to run slow with the small amount of apps I have downloaded

You compare G300 and iPhone 4s? That is wrong :) you paid that phone 99$ and iPhone is like 4 times expensive. And only sound is problem to you? That says about how good this phone is. And you have problems with sound only because those headphones are very bad, try with another one...

However I have an issue with the sound quality with the headphones it came with. I bought it for $99. Obviously, it is not as good as the iPhone and I guess it will last me no longer than a year. For the price though, it was worth the buy. Great phone and works fast! Two thumbs up for this phone!

Very often the signal gets switched off. As in signal bar turns gray. No calls and messages come in. Then the phone needs to be restarted or put into and out of airplane mode to get the signal back. This seems to be common issue in this phone. Any idea how to solve this?

Even for me, download stoped for some times. I have downloaded from Firefox download manager. Check your current software version. Only for few software versions, upgrade is possible. Go through document. There are two gingerbread software in that download link. First install latest version of those two gingerbread then u can upgrade to ICS.

Thanks for providing detailed info...I also tried to download the same zip file which you mentioned but it stop downloading after 50-60 MB (2-3 times) then I tried to download it with download manager. It was downloaded succesfully but when I followed the instructions and tried to upgrade phone (with update.app file) phone got restarted without upgrade. I think there is some issue with the downloaded file. Can you please let me know if you faced same issue?

R u updating your G300 from Gingerbred(2.3.6) to ICS(4.0.3)? I have updated from 2.3.6 to ICS few weeks back. Please download Go through this Doc and then download ICS from Follow process mention in Doc. It hardly takes 5 minutes to update.

I definetely agree with you. I also got it at edgars for R899 and it's superb but I'm a bit sad that it comes with gingerbread and the ram is 512mb and the CPU is 1GHz but anyways for 900 bucks its the best smartphone you can get. I'm glad Vodacom and Edgars are selling Hauwei products.

I have this phone about week, updated to ICS and i must say he positively surprised me. I was very sceptical to products from China but this device works wery well. Good range WiFi and GSM, sometimes it lags but by that i've too much demanded on it at the same time.

I've recently bought the huawei ascend g300 but I've noticed it doesn't have the android market so I downloaded it from 4 shared.com but when I installed it and clicked on it on my phone it bounces back off and I tried installing and uninstalling it but it bounces off also I downloaded loads of time of other android market but still does the same it bounces back off. It's not true, or you bought an defective phone. I have this phone for almost 3 months and I didn't noticed anything strange like you said. It's normal heating, it's normal during charging and talking for ANY mobile. And it is not, definetly NOT VERY HOT. I'm satisfied with this mobile, it's cheap and has a big, good IPS screen. And G300 has no stupid childish illneses like Xperia... My favourite for low price.

This phone has very poor battery life. The phone can go from 30% to zero(shutdown) in 2hrs on stanby. It heats up (hot) very fast during conversation and during charging. The touch screen is terrible compared to samsung. I need to press 4 times. The Hua Wei service is terrible and they don't have a service centre. They ask some cheap agent which provide terrible service. Do be trick by the price. You get what you paid for!! DON'T buy this phone. You will most likely regret it.

you can transfer MOST apps to/from SDcard in either 2.4 or ICS. Just go to settings, Applications, select an app, click 'Move To SD' or 'Move to SIM' :)

had this phone for 3 months now. Upgraded to ICS with the vodaphone update two weeks ago - BIG MISTAKE !! It's much slower, slow desktop refresh, not compatable with Flash player, glitchy movie playback. Going to revert to Android 2.3 as soon as i can find out how :) Other than that, and the crap camera, it's a bargain :)

Yes this phone has some faulty hardware configuration. In Europe Huawei has provided an ota update, after updating the loudspeaker volume is fixed.Just compare the volume of loudspeaker while playing mp3 and while playing FM or alarm ringtone, there is notable difference. If anyone found any Ota update for the asian version of this phone , please informed me through this post.

Duration of any mobile can be judged by its build quality and hardware. Huawei is in this business since long time. It has large number of telecom equipment's. It has its own fabrication unit and It has its own hardware(chips). considering all the above factors, We can say G300 is as good as Sony and other samsung, LG and Nokia mobiles.....

I got it. and it is a great phone in its price. Check any other company like samsung, htc, lg etc. every one will cost around 6000+ more to get this phone's spec. And about chineese company opinion, You can only buy chineese made products in India (samsung, htc, lg every company - the made will be from china) so dont worry you can buy it without any tension. and smartphones are very sensitive. so anything can happen to any phone. so y to bother about throwing in 6 months?

Hey DG I got it from saholic.com the on line store at just Rs.9599 with cash on delivery. its gingerbread 2.3.6. I use it for extensive browsing hd gaming whole day and for talking its near 3,5 hr. so it's handsomely stay a day for 1 charge. and I sugest u stay on gingerbread for this beauty.

I receive my lovely g300 and use it last five days. It is very very good phone and also very slim and styles. The big news is it has corning gorilla glass print with its box,manufacture july 2012. The internal storage memory is 756mb while internal sd memory is 2.4gb. I inserted samsung 16gb class 6 card and it's roks! I already downloaded and play some high graphics games like riptide gp reckless gateway asphalt 6 etc which is smooth run without any lag. Within 10000 this is the best phone in indian market and I am very proud to have it.

I got this mobile few days back. The feeling is just awesome. The cost is below $200. And a quality hardware like this for this price is stunning. This beats Samsung Ace left and right. The display quality is far superior. The build quality and design would suggest the mobile could be something around $300. Camera takes great picture - as against some reviews saying camera is average. I took few snaps , they all turned out so well. If the light is low, and the target object is moving, you get some blur. Just because of this we cannot say camera is average. Take a snap on a bright light or with flash. They are stunning. Speaker sound is also good for FM & Audio. It's got a very decent battery backup. No drivers need to connect this into your PC/Laptop. Just connect it's taken as USB Mass drive. And USB charging is also there! I can say a lot more things about this awesome piece. Just one little low point is the background color of the default UI for controls. Sometimes occasionally, it shows a Windows Mobile6.5 kind of UI. But who cares when I'm going to upgrade this to ICS? :) Yup it's upgradable. ^^

Hello, I have this phone for about 3 months and I can say that I am impressed by him! Note that in the last 2 years I have run several phones (Nokia C7, Samsung Galaxy Y, Samsung Galaxy Pro, ...) and Ascend G300 is more than the listed and even more than other phones with complaints. It has a 1500 mAh battery that myself (in special conditions, ie without automatic synchronization of accounts, less internet, ...) took me six days to the other phones that did not take more than 2 days! However, the purchase price of $ 240 (to open in Romania, Europe) can not find anything better: 4.0 inch screen, 1 GHz Cortex-A5 CPU, Gingerbread with Qualcomm MSM7227 Snapdragon and even if they say it has Corning Gorilla Glass but unfortunately not ... all good!

Should I upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich? I have only had it a few days and I am new to Android. It is a terrific phone for the price. I am sticking to Gingerbread for now while I learn it, but may well do the ICS upgrade later. I am concerned that it might slow it down being a single 1GHz processor. Just bought one from Isme using the Quidco deal to get £30 off the £99 price and supposedly £6 cashback to come too. I tried an Orange SIM first and it didn't work. Not surprising as they are still a Vodafone exclusive. Mine is locked to Vodafone. Like the other user, I never opened the Vodafone SIM. I did try someone's Vodafone SIM to check all was well. Then I popped to my local Carphone Warehouse to get the Talkmobile Essentials SIM. 8p/min and 4p/text (half those prices to other Talkmobiles) and 25p per day up to 25MB. Talkmobile uses the Vodafone network and the phone does not need unlocking to use it. Perfect for me. A third of the price of Vodafone calls and texts and top-ups don't expire so long as used once every 9 months I think.

I bought one this week (October 2012) and my battery is HB5N1H, 3.7V, 1500mAh, 5.6Wh, Standard GB/T 18287-2000. It is like the one shown here I researched the availability of batteries and this is what I found. sells compatible batteries rated at 1800mAh for £11.99 and 3700mAh for £16.99 with free postage. eBay seller ufo101 has a pack of 2 1500mAh batteries and an external charger for £10.09 with free delivery for Hong Kong. Item 230817035269. I always treat non-original batteries with some suspicion. We have all heard stories of phones exploding or catching fire, so I am not making a recommendation. However, the eBay deal is amazing and if you have a number of G300 in the family or do a lot of travelling, it could be well worth it. If I was a heavier user and if I didn't feel I was going to snap the back cover every time I open it, I would seriously consider getting a spare. For now, I will just wait until it starts to fail which should be a good while yet as it is only a few days old.

Hi - Can you - or anyone else - please tell me How and Where you got your UK G300 unlocked (rec links that work). I have just bought one from Tesco in UK for 60 GBP. I need to use it with my Orange SIM. Just charging without putting in the supplied Voda sim as not sure what that might do. So since i have never done this before: 1) What steps do I do to unlock it to use on Orange ? 2) should i put the Voda sim (no money on it) in and presumably let it register on voda UK network first - or - should I not ? just dont want to do the wrong initial steps and have only heard of others getting the unloack code on eBAy for 5 GBP - is this correct and what links can I trust ? thx in advance

i just bought this fone few days back ..... the phone is just good not excellent or more .... display , definetely good .... battery back up , poor .... camera , for still pictures is good , but for moving objects its very poor , bad i can say .... motion detection not there ... better go for samsung s7500 ............

From fully charged, surfed the web, downloaded/installed/uninstalled some apps, played games for 1 hour, played a movies for 4 hours (didn't watch it, plugged in and audio jack to mute the speaker and put volume to max, and got on with other stuff on the pc), played mp3's for 1 hour, surfed the web and downloaded more apps for another hour, left it on over night, in the morning had 28% battery left, used it sparingly for 2 days, when it got to 17% recharged to full in just over an hour :)

Bought this last week and unlocked it immediately to run my T-mob sim. The screen unlock had me puzzled for about 3 seconds - as a safety feature (to prevent accidental dialing when the phone is in your bag or pocket) to unlock the screen you press the tiny power button on the top edge, as opposed to swiping the screen or one of the other buttons. Had a couple of problems with apps then realised i'd used all the memory, so put in a 32Gb card and that solved that. The camera is ok (not as good as my old Samsung U600's 3.2Mpx which prob has a better lens) with limited controls, but there's an app for that. Copied movies, photos, and mp3's over and all played fine - though had to install VLC (free app) to play vids. Overall this phone is excellent VFM, the best spec sub £250 phone, and no contract. It's practically the same as an HTC Desire with a plastic case and less memory. Will be upgrading to ICS when Huawei relese the update (anyday). Very pleased.

I like every aspect of the phone, exept for few things. The battery is just 1350 mA , the european version is having 1500 mA, so if we play games or videos, battery is gone in a flash. And the loudspeaker is horrible, just for namesake some distorted sound is coming. I heard that some OTA update is there , but when I checked it out, its not available in india. Huawei has almost made a good budget phone, however they messed up in basic features like this.

G300 should win hands down as they both have identical chipset/processor except g300 has nearly double the power! G300 1ghz v explorer 600mhz! Explorer might be better for music and battery life though! G300 has bigger and better screen and far better camera with flash! Explorer costs more than g300 and isnt worth it! All you are paying for with htc is the brand! Id go for g300 without hesitation! Have you considered sonys live walkman? It has a superior chipset and graphics to g300! It beats anything in this price range and above! If screen size isnt an issue then go for live as it beats g300 and weve already got ics with jellybean looking likely! Only advantage lcd has over led is that its lifetime will be longer! Oled/amoled/super amoled are better in all other respects! Adreno 200 is bottom of the pile in terms of 3d graphics! Adreno 205 and upwards are a lot better!

G300 has capacitive lcd not led! Doesnt have scratch resistance like live walkman. Although g300 is better pixel density than live. Live uses its 1ghz processor so well because of the lower screen resolution meaning the processor doesnt get drained by the screen. Also battery on live is small but lasts due to screen res! G300 is good phone and beats desire c, xperia tipo and galaxy mini,pocket and y easily. It also looks premium and has good screen. Basically g300 is best in class only beaten by live walkman! If live walkman screen is too small for your needs then I would reccomend g300 all day long. For a bit more money you can get xperia u 1ghz dual core with awsome screen res! Very good looking phone!

Adreno 200 is low end graphics. Cheap phones like galaxy y use it although g300 uses more advanced chipset same as desire c! That said g300 is outperformed by live walkman with adreno 205! Shouldnt worry about ics as it doesnt even run perfect on live walkman so g300 will surely lag with ics installed!

On 3network they withdrew live walkman before ics update but we still got it. They have a duty to support your handset for a short period at the very least. G330 should be good although all I know is its 1ghz dualcore! Dont know yet what chipset/processor it has.

Hello guys, I am using this general ICS android 4.0.3 release by Huawei and it is running perfectly well. Plus point: it is loaded with new Jelly bean 4.1 look. BUT there is no hardware acceleration for graphics (wasting GPU). Overall it is much better and stable.

It's a micro SD card, you just have to put it it's place, wich is near the battery and it has to recognise it, if it doesn't then look at the pictures in the manual, if you don't have that, then search in youtube, that way it would be easier to you to learn how to do that ;) Greetings!

Bought this model on 13 Aug'12....had to return it on 27 Aug'12. Problems as follows: Couldn't answer a call - display was in 'locked' mode yet phone rang for 11mins, was unable to unlock it. Have had several dropped calls, have been unable to hear calls / callers have been unable to hear me. Have repeatedly been unable to return to 'home' yet can advance to other options. Battery life is no more than 1 day and that's on powersave mode. Camera is really good even if it doesn't like to work in bright daylight. Just requested a replacement from local Vodafone shop - they attendant was very...shall we say 'defensive' and clearly did not like to entertain complaints. Have had to return in for review - will update in '7 to 10 working day'. :(

I got this phone today and it is a great phone. I upgraded from the Galaxy ace and it was worth it. Its fast, large screen and dont even have to store any music, videos or pictures on my phone because i now use Google cloud so i can stream my music etc.

When i get to the Vodafone store to trade my broken phone by a new one the store clerk didn't want to trade it since the problem wasn't happening at the moment. After some minutes trying to show her the problem with no success and after some crying she finally agreed to give a new one. I'm really impressed with the battery autonomy. Really...really impressed. I have am HTC Desire HD and this was my 1st smart phone I ever had. Yes, people complained of DHD battery autonomy but since i had no other smart phone for comparison i never thought bad of it. Amazing difference, while my DHD loose around 74% battery only on display usage the G300 spends an amazing low 34%. It seems the IPS LCD really make a big difference on battery usage. Its true that G300 doesn't have an beautiful and heavy UI like the HTC Sense that consumes a lot of battery but the UI is minimalistic and simple helping on battery consumption. Unfortunately it brings a lot of Vodafone Bloatware that cannot be removed. It also comes with 3 games demos that also can't be removed. What a waste of space and memory. Overall for basic use its has a really good specs for it price. I will probably make this one my main phone and give my HTC Desire HD to my niece since i lost hope on HTC with the ICS update fiasco. I'm not sure if its the screen or the software but sometimes i see some colour issues on colour fading. The screen supposedly has 16M colour... !?!? PS: Sorry my English.

I bought this phone yesterday on Vodafone PT, but unfortunatly mine came with some factory faults. I liked the specs and performance vise it was more fluid than my Desire HD. While i was installing apps from Google Play, during that 5 hours intalling and testing he restarted 3 times, 2 of wich he done a factory reset, and when i was browsing the Market it made some weird screen vertical lines glitch, mostly when i used the touchpal keyboard. Going to trade it with a new one today, hope it come good :D If you are a guy that use the phone for the basic, e-mail, manga reading and some other basic stuff this phone is great. Big screen and good resolution. I always thought... why do i need a phone with SG3 specs if im not going to play 3D games in it. Thats overkill specs... :D PS: I see many people saying that it will be updated to ICS and see other say that the ICS update was canceled. Can someone confirm it and give me an oficial website. PPS: Sorry for my english.

Afraid I had to send my phone back to Vodafone. When I purchased it the software/firmware was updated to the latest B885 and the ringtones were still barely audiable So quiet one cannot understand what Huawei were thinking about when all other aspects of the phone for £100 were very good.

First smart phone for an older guy with hearing issues and I love it! After reading here about ringtone problems I tried it in the shop and it was diabolical but having read of solutions here I took a punt on it because of the decent screen size and reasonably quick CPU. First the OTA improved the ringtone level but not good enough, next the AnEq Equaliser app,which fixes it for good. I also use the IntelliRing app which boosts the sound when in your pocket and drops it back when you take it out so you don't wake up the neighbourhood. Lastly I,ve installed a new ota that dramatically improves the screen sensitivity. It does many other things well also and in my country is a quarter of the price of an S3.Bang for your bucks it's unbeatable.

I don't think anyone is trying to say the huawei g300 is as good as the Samsung s3. All that yen is trying to say is the huawei does everything the s3 does which applies to most touch phones all be it definitely not as quick as smooth or as efficiently. At the end of the day though it sends emails, messages, accesses the web and social networking. To me that is all most people are looking for. My biggest gripe is the awful low ringtone volume and missing calls. Other than that it is tremendous value for £100

The speaker software fix means I can use this phone in the car to listen to music just on the speaker. This phone is a Ford Fiesta of the phone world. Its no Jag its a standard, reasonable priced vehicle. Its a phone and its got bells and whistles but it doesnt dance. How about that for mixing metaphors :)

would never recommend even to my enemies! i got this phone as a backup phone fot my s2.. from 1st week phone started lagging and rebooting!! there is no such thing as after sales service from huawei. have you ever seen a huawei service centre? dont make the same mistake i did .. atleast i have my reliable s2 and me ol' friend nokia n70 dont ever buy huawei phones even as a second/third phone! i thought they were one of the better brands in china along with meizu .. damn i wanted that ascend p1 quad .. sorry for this rant .. every brand has some defect products(my s2 had some issues) but customer service is very very very very important.

I MEASURED the ext speaker sound amplitude with a sound metre .. at max levels-- huawei g300 measures max sound output at 60 decibels while similar phones output measures 80decibels .. this is against background sound levels 0f 20decibels -- so g300 gives in affect 40decibels at max -- while others give net 60decibels ..40 decibels == conversation levels with 20decibels background noises .. normal noises in a shopping mall are 40 decibels at quiet times and go upto 60decibels -say weekend shopping days .. thats why ITS NOTN POSSIBLE TO HEAR G300 RING IN A VODAFONE SHOP PLACED IN TOP JACKET POCKET .. Regarding the speaker problem, you can donwload for free, from google play "aneq equalizer" and it will solve the problem. The sound through the speaker wil be a lot louder because even after the update it's still at half of its capability. The speaker it's not faulty it's a software problem.

this phone is crap the screen is unresponsive the touch button's do not respond at all the volume level is still to low after the O.T.A update. Some lag present scrolling through the screen's even with the 1ghz processer. Connection drop's to the internet even with the 3g logo indicating your connected to the internet the speaker just above the logo at the top is so low you cant hear the person on the other end. Also the G300 has a hardware fault inside the chip set were it does a factory reset for no reason at all. I know it's a budget phone but it shouldnt have all these problem's it's got too many flaw's to make it a great phone

I have the same problem. The phone shows me I am connected to wifi but it says I am not connected when I try to view web pages. Also no joy with the vodafone tech team. Additionally i can't upload photos - keeps failing, this is when 3g is on. Just don't know what to do.

Bought device one on day of release, broken charger in box (sealed,had fingerprints on screen too), bulges in casing by battery coner. Today perchased device two, different retailer, multitude of dead/stuck pixels on screen.....placed back in box. Will not be looking for number three! Have other Huawei devices that are more than reasonable, like tmob rapport. Still prefer ZTE, as bargain range out of the two. Both OSF (blade 1), and OMC much better in build quality.

I noticed with interest your comment about poor volume. I bought one of these phones last week on the understanding that this issue had been resolved with a firmware update. If it has then I found it certainly did nothing to make the volume acceptable, in fact the ringtones were so low I missed numerous calls and messages. Surely this is an issue that both Vodafone and Huawei should still be working on. You will guess I returned the phone, but must add for £100 other than this volume issue I think it extremely good value

gorilla glass and amoled is different things. The "gorilla" refers to the type of screen protection which is also the best and most in common! Amoled is the type of screen quality as there is also LCD IPS.In comparison of the two the amoled is saturated and has better power efficiency but IPS LCD has more sharpness and less color which i believe is more natural!

Hi Blondi I got this phone yesterday, and is to look at a beautiful phone for the outlay there are negatives like horrible keyboard and iffy web connection when using WAP l When not near your router. I don't recommend it if this is your friend top priority. For me is not a problem since I don't use my phone for music listening, but through headphones the sound is not very loud so your friend might not be happy with it. Maybe there's an up to improve music playback, or maybe it will improve when the OS will be upgraded to ICS. Otherwise, regarding the specs you won't find anything better

I would recommend this phone. - big great gorila glass screen - ARM v7 1GHz procesor is more than fast enough for web browsing, and most of the games - almost great build quality, little cracking in one part of case, but better than most phones I tried. - OK camera. I dont like it but it works. - battery 1,5 days of heavy use for me - I have no sound problems (b886) from VIP Serbia - home, menu and back buttons always works but only in upper parts (b888 should fix this)

FYI the CPU speed is according to OTHER sites, but UNLISTED here 1Ghz. ALSO it´s reviewed by other sites as SUPERIOR to othe "Entry-level " Smartphones. Hi Joy, just to say, pay-as-you-go can work out very expensive for a smartphone, with data etc! For £5 you can buy unlock codes for this phone from eBay, which will enable you to use it on services which may be cheaper and more convenient for you, than pay-as-you-go, such as monthly sim-only contracts (with a one month maximum duration), 12-monthly, etc, etc; another tip, those in the know, buy those sim cards having clicked through "topcashback", having deleted the 'cookies' for the retailer first, as the major mobile companies often offer sim-only contracts half price through topcashback. Hard to fault, screen a little insensitive could be the gorilla glass. Audio hums a little, and case has creaking bits near battery cover recess tab. But overall a fantastic deal. Screen bright and clear, audio reasonable, update fixes low volume. Fast online. Would highly recommend. Don't expect an HTC, but it is very close indeed. At £100 a total bargain on uk vodafone. A must though is downloading another keyboard, supplied one is tragic! Go keyboard is fine though.

Just bought G300 having had an ordinary mobile phone for last 4 years - had little experience with 'smart' phones, but would recommend buying this one ona PAYG Vodaphone - Manager in our local store was very helpful, sorted my contacts etc., from old phone and we set up google account whilst in store - i was ready to go... lots of playing for the next few days, but am getting there! No bad for someone with a 'bus pass'! I too would like to know how to increase the volume of ringtones/message alerts, also I did ask if this phone was Quad band as I need this for travel - not sure until we go! views would be welcome. Got one £100 plus £10 top up Voda UK..Video recording is 800x480 pixels on high settings..I did a video and tranferred it to PC for this info and FPS of 29.3.The frame rate drops like crazy in bad light giving blurry recording..Photos are good in good light but degrade in side house ie poorer light .. Battery is lasting ages got it home at 6pm and its 11pm now and about to go but i just put battery in out of box,no charging..It was about half way up the battery icon..Will do more battery tests. Quite enjoying its first few hours oh must do quadrant score before battery goes,hang on.. First test quadrant 2100. Going to do another test with all apps closed. Second test quadrant 2120.

absolutely brilliant value for money, I bought it pay as you go from vodafone and put a sim only in it. Have to say it rivals my sister's galaxy sII, same software and many similar features for a fraction of the cost. I was slightly sceptical at first because I had not heard much about Huawei, but I definately recommend. Some issues raised about volume levels, but there is now a patch to download to rectify this as well.

Me again! :D (you'll also find this review on ebay :)) I bought this phone because I needed a new phone and my old phone, a Huawei Blaze, wasn't keeping up with what I needed (Don't get me wrong, for £70 that phone was brilliant) Saw this one for £100 and I thought, why the hell not? Received the phone still sealed in its box, it runs a 1GHZ (1008mhz) processor, Adreno 200 GPU, 512MB RAM, 2.5GB internal storage(around 480MB is used for the system itself, so you have 2.02 to play with) Android 2.3.6 (will be getting an ICS update in the summer/autumn,, both Huawei and Vodafone have confirmed this!), a 4" touch screen with 480 x 800 pixel capacitive touch screen display, 5MP camera with autofocus and flash, GPS, G-Sensor, Mic noise compression for HD phone calls, a light sensor, and connects via USB 2.0. The box also contains a USB cable, manuals, warranty, charger adapter and a stereo headset. Huawei keep their packaging simple, and don't use too much card or plastic, only what's needed. The phone's power button is on the top, volume is on the left side of the phone, and the Micro USB port is on the bottom. The front is black, with light up touch buttons on the bottom of the front panel. The battery cover is silver, and the rest is white. It sounds ugly, but when you see it, its not. The phone is weighty, but to me shows its durability and strength. Under the battery cover, you can see the battery, SD card slot and SIM slot. Powering the phone on the first time, you are greeted by Huawei splash screens, and then you are taken to the first time run wizard. The purpose of this is to get you connected to Google, set up your account and sync any data/apps if you have upgraded. The default lock screen is uniquely designed. It is a ring in the centre surrounded by a circle with 4 points along it. Dragging it in a certain direction performs a different function. Dragging it to the right unlocks the phone normally, , to the left takes you to messaging, up takes you to the call log, and down to the camera. This allows you to complete common tasks faster. Following the lock screen, you are taken to your home screen. The default launcher is the default "Huawei" Launcher, which is colourful and relatively speedy, however, I'd recommend downloading Go Launcher Ex from Google Play (Android Market) for a better experience and built in task manager. After installing Go Launcher and an ICS theme, I start gettinng apps. Fruit Ninja, Dragon, Fly!, Dillo Hills, Flash Player (YES, IT HAS FLASH SUPPORT!) Tap Tap Revenge 4, Remote Desktop, Ninesky Browser, Angry Birds, Angry Birds Space. All run amazingly fast. This ARMv7 processor can really keep up, and deals with multi-tasking amazingly. Battery life on normal use is about 12 - 15 hours, decent! Running a benchmark using "Benchmark & Tuning Free", this phone scores an average of 4912, which puts it above the Huawei U8800, LG P970, and the P500. This phone is 700 points short of being as good as a HTC Incredible S. If Huawei get the ICS update right, we could see amazing performance increases! On AnTuTu's Benchmark app, I see that this phone gets a score of 3028 on average, which puts it on par with the Google Nexus One and the Desire S. 40 - 60FPS on the 3D benchmarks, and even higher on the 2D benches. CFBench shows a score of 5998, 1798, 3478, which puts it well above the Nexus S and well above the HTC Hero. NOTE, some phones may have a software speaker issue which makes it quiet. My phone's build ends in b886, so its unaffected, but many b882 models are. Huawei are working on a fix, which should be out this week, so don't let it put you off! b884 builds appear to be unaffected though (you can find your build in Settings -> About Phone). Get onto Modaco if you need a quick fix before an official one! Phone can be rooted, I've already done so, and a port to CM9 is on its way too :) For £100, this phone beats the competition. Grab one while its hot!

Go Launcher is a which replaces the default launcher or "menus", and it offers more customisation and can have greater speed. I'd thouroughly recommend it.

i got one of these phones first launch day 13/4/2012 the warning tones and ring tones are very very low it sounded like the main phone speaker was blocked inside took it back to the shop tried other a300 phones in the shop and they where the same!. Its a great phone spec wise and for the money, BUT please huawei FIX the speaker problem and i will buy another g300!.

Qualcomm MSM7227A processor (ARM7) Adreno 200 GPU 512MB of RAM Android 2.3.6 or 2.3.3 with HAP 5.1 upgrade to ICS coming Q2 2012 WVGA TFT LCD screen (800x480) Bluetooth 2.1EDR, Wi-Fi b,g,n, GPS, Proximity sensor,Accelormeter 5MP AF camera with single LED flash 2.5GB of storage The overall spec means that the device will be able to run Adobe Flash Player, BBC iPlayer, Temple Run, GTA3 etc. Hope thish helped I'm going to pick one up myself :)

Have had this phone for one week and can confirm the following, yes it's reasonably priced at £100 plus £10 top up but don't expect it to compete with similar offerings from Samsung or HTC as you will be disappointed, the interface is a Huawei overlay on a gingerbread base and works fairly well in the whole but I've changed to Go Launcher as it runs smoother. In call volume is excellent and clear whilst ringtones and speaker is sadly so low that you may find yourself missing calls! Build quality is good for the price point and has more than a passing resemblance to the HTC Desire S, but squeeze the Ascend in your hand and it becomes clear that the attractive shell with looks of aluminium and white porcelain are plastic based, creaking under the pressure of your grip. The screen is clear, bright and responsive but suffers from wishy washy colour rendition, the capacitive buttons for menu, home and back are sometimes unresponsive and require two or three pushes to respond but the problem is less prevailent using the Go Launcher. On summary if you are working to a budget then this is the phone for you, costing the same as a two year old second hand HTC Desire, but if you are accustomed to the likes of the galaxy s2, HTC XL, Arc S or other top phones then you will find the Ascend lacking in certain areas, but hey don't forget this is a £100 phone 8 out of 10 for effort and will do better when the ICS upgrade goes live.

An excellent smart phone & value for money, only 100 quid on Vodafone PAYG as i'm already an PAYG customer dont require to up. reminds me off the htc desire, pretty much same spec but at fraction of the cost. battery is excellent. cant wait til ics update out for it. v easy & superb display & plenty of internal memory, great 5mp camera, light & slim. its a no brainy - must buy.

Bought the phone on Friday. Its a bargain, but there are a few niggles: 1. The ring tones, alarms and notification tones are not loud enough, even on maximum. 2. This is a biggie: the screen refuses to rotate when in the Contacts app. This means that, if like me, your contacts have long names, only the first couple of words are visible in portrait, and won't allow me to go to landscape to reveal more words. So if you have lots of contacts which start with "London Restaurant", for example, followed by the name of the restaurant, only "London Restaurant" will be visible. Not much use!!! I hope that these faults will be ironed out by updates soon, because they really are deal breakers.

Unfortunately no wired TV-out or HDMI, but I can safely say, after having this for 24 hours, after a full charge, the battery is performing well, on 50% and that is after downloading apps, using wi-fi etc

Purchased this morning from a Vodafone store for £100 plus £10 min top-up. Excellent build quality, 2.5GB internal memory and 650MB for apps/move to SD also. 4" TFT screen is very clear, camera takes very clear and focused pictures, video is 720p, ringtone volume is quite low, however - maybe this could be resolved in a future update. The screen is made of Corning Gorilla Glass, as quoted on the box of the phone. ALL IN ALL, excellent. Supports Adobe Flash too as phone has 1Ghz processor.
