Recommend the ROM from XDA forum, Gstock battery edition by Dabi01.zip The rom is modified from the official ROM. That is the best rom since I have tried dozens of the customized ROM. Not recommend any CM ROM for this phone, I almost tried all the CM ROMs on the XDA, and the all the CM ROMs from XDA have the low calling speaker problem.

Its a garbage! This phone has some weird problems, frequently swich on music, if Im not touch anything, fortunately I always hold turn off sound of media but when I look on phone I see that some song play. Also, I dont know how to turn off random play music. The other thing, memory is low and his aplications use lot of space. The camera is good for by the day or near taking photos but zoom, night take photos and videos is very bad!

This has just happened to me too. The restarting option makes no difference only leaving the reset to factory settings and lose all internal memory option, which Im very loathe to do. What have you done? And is there anyone that can help?? Id hoped to have continued with my phone for a while and no idea why it is has done this...it started to play up whilst on Facebook saying that swipe for huawei wasnt responding, then that Facebook wasnt either, so i turned phone off and on again , and got the message about the internal memory being damaged. Why?! How? etc. I bought the phone from Carphone Warehouse with Talkmoblie, who have now parted company with Carphone Warehouse, so taking the phone to carphone Warehouse may not be much help. Who else to turn to?

This has just happened to me too...says the internal memory is damaged and I have to reset to factory settings and lose all my internal memory etc. Is there any way round this? I love it! :) I have my Huawey Y550 since 2014 and it works perfectly. I don't use so much apps, but it works just to call and all that. It's not fancy but it works for me!

Try disablying some apps. Settings-Manage Apps-All. See what app you use, what app you need to a good funtion of the cellphone, and what you can disable or unistall. For example: I disabled many apps between Maps, Google Music Google Books, Google "Kiosko" (i had it in spanish), Mail (because Gmail now allows set not only gmail, but also others messaging account as Outlook, Yahoo, etc in the same app), the Themes and the Predeterminated Wallpapers also the Animated Pics, and something like that. But carefull, remember that an app you use may need another that you don't consciously or directly, and if you disable any app of this kind the other you use may not work well or nothing at all. It's good check with a computer at the same time by searching the apps you suspect may be disabled. Hope i could help you.

Mine will not stay on 4G keeps shifting to E signal (Edge) extremely slow. Bluetooth keeps switching off while travelling and at times will not reconnect until engine is switched off and back on again in car. Any advice?

If you have mobile data or wifi activated and the screen goes off for a while lets say 5min then you do not get any message alerts from whatsapp and facebook mesenger. (even though I have allowed them to stay active in the power management section) I have to manually press the wake up button and notice several messages that were sent earlier and this is frustrating.

Been using this phone for three days now and have encountered this problem,,. When requsted to input on phone characters, only numbers appear not letters. E.g. request is typing in my TV Box I.d. which is E6E5D7EE2 only the number shows and not the letters. Even transfering monies to other account cannot be done because description is letter based and they do not show too. I am wondering if the phone has got a problem. The keybourd/input method is working fine.

The Huawei Y500 is an absolutely incredible phone. Had mine now for a year and no problems whatsoever. Paid $A45 brand new (half price on sale / model clearout) with a $50 one month phone credit included. Used the $50 credit - so the phone actually cost me nothing! Only downside - phone was locked - but sorted that out for $A20. Headset volume too low, and low internal storage - I agree with other blogger's views on this - but hey - not much to complain about. Get a 32GB micro SD and no drama! Screen glass does not need plastic cover as it is incredibly scratch resistant. Never had a cover on mine - and it is as good as new - a reflection of the quality. The pictures it takes are really quite amazing. This phone is so good - I recommended it to my mates, and then they bought 7 of them! It is very well made. How can others charge so much for smart phones, when this one is 4G - as cheap as chips - and does everything theirs does? Go Huawei!

Surprise a couple of days ago, system software update available. Allowed it to DL and install, backed up but didn't factory reset/restore as suggested. Android Version in About Phone is 4.4.4 No idea what improvements or changes are included (nothing really documented other than stability). In the past year I've had 4 spontaneous reboots during phone calls and maybe 1 or 2 in other situations so maybe/hopefully it's addressing that issue. Oh, and the UI is still the same, ie iPhone wannabee, annoying rubbish. The cure for that is another launcher, e.g. Nova which for about 10 months has been stable with this phone.

I have the same problem - it takes 8 seconds from when I press the button until when the screen lights up. I spoke to the bloke at the Vodafone shop, where I bought it, and he told me to save all my data to my computer and then do a factory reset. I have not done it because I don't know how to save my data. He said if this did not work he would send it to a tech for me. Be easier and cheaper just to give me a new phone, I reckon.

I won't recommend this. I am having a problem with Volume Bar, it keeps going too loud without any reason and not configured to do so. Sent to Repairs 4 times but no joy. Tech Support and Repairs department are rubbish. Made a complaint but nobody bothers to reply. I would stay away from this.

I just bought this phone, I've been use it for quite a awhile. it gets really hot when using, it needs cooling unit. internet speed is beyond my level it's so fast on 4G Camera is good enough for quick photo and video battery life is useless, it needs to be plugged into wall all the time and still it decharges. I don't understand why phone makers include shitty power supply to charge the phone. I don't believe the battery is 2000mAh, feels like 850mAh, from 100% to 0% in 30 minutes. it's huge phone and so small battery. at least it has ultra battery saving mode, so you can make a call at end of the day. Screen is very nice, higher resolution would be overkill, wide angle of views it's grreat. speaker is nice just like phone would have. 1gb ram is needed on this phone it gets filled up quick when facebook is running. so it have 4gb of total storage, 1gb is ram 2,5gb is operation system and preinstalled apps, yep you have storage just for few photos and it's full. memory card should have been included at least 8gb for the price I got it, it's worth it, when you are in need of phone good phone thou.

Very good phone. Only limitation 4gb internal memory, which leaves 1.6gb for apps so an extra sd card is recommended. You can shift even more apps to sd card by changing the default installation to sd card via adb, and reverting some of the google apps to factory install version and stopping google play updating them. This in my case has left a good 800mb free after installing around 100 apps and not rooting it ! Reviews for this phone can be misleading. Screen res is absolutely ok, and battery life is better than most other phones. Processor is very fast. Runs 4.4.4, and I'm getting 52mb/s download speeds over wifi. Bloat is at a minimum, the installed huawei UI is easily replaced with something better like Nova launcher. In the UK you can get it free on a £10 month contract with Carphone warehouse. Very pleased would buy again.

I have this as a back-up-phone (incase something happens to my OnePlus One). I got this on sale for �80 (regularly �100-120), I was skeptical because of the 4 GB at first. But this phone is totally awesome. I can't believe all it can do for so little money. To maximize storage space, buy a micro-SD card, set it as your default storage location (in settings menu), additionally you need to move each app to SD card (again) after installing it (also in settings). It also has Ultra Power Saving Mode that I use during business hours with wifi usage It easily gave me 2 - 3 days. Selfie front camera is better then I expected. Front cam is average. Have bought 2, both my daughter and I love it. Screen is very soft so put a protector on it out of the box or it will be scratched immediately. Some reviews are unhappy about the screen resolution. I find it very clear and extremely bright and easy to read. The custom Android interface is very simple and easy to use, but seems to bother some advanced users who consider anything except the standard Android to be sacrilege. The optimization software that comes with the phone as part of the system seems useful and functional. The resolution of the main camera may not be as high as what some people would want, but the software for it seems extremely good. We bought cases and screen protectors from Ebay for a � or so... I put 32 GB class 10 cards in both phones for about �15. The internal memory is too little for most people without an SD card. Make sure to set the default installation location to SD card. For the price of this phone I think it delivers value well in excess of the cost.

This is a great phone for the money! Its works perfectly with Skype video chat, Viber etc. Its great that you can get such. A functional device for small money. Its a better chipset then the latest moto G 2014 model. Ye the screen is a little smaller on this Huawei at 4.5" but its still very very good. Cheap phone awesome performance!

I updated from a Y300 and I would say the volume levels are much the same but I suggest you look for a loud ring tone. Eg. I use a cat whine from an animal sounds download. It is really loud!

This does indeed have 4G support, i have tested it on the EE network in the uk with my 4G-only sim card. This phone ships with android 4.4.4 not 4.4.2 btw or at least does in the uk. The only downside is that the call speaker is a little quiet during calls.

I bought this phone today and I'm very impressed, just wish they didn't have to have so many pre installed apps as not much memory left after I installed my own apps. The only thing I'm unhappy with is the sound quality when I'm playing my music, even with decent headphones it sounds very tinny and low. Even installing a good music player hasn't helped.

The phone is just average. The people who concerned about low resolution simply make full the brightness then it will be alright. It has got nice light flash for taking picture in dark. But personally I don't think its support 4G due to never seeing its support while samsung s5 or iphone 5 users getting that in same area same time. 4g maybe its marketing tactic to sale handset but on the otherhand the phone itself is very fast.

There are 2 ways to transfer photos from phone to PC. 1. Traditional way by physical connection between PC and mobile phone with supplied USB cable. 2. Install a "wifi transfer" app from Google Play store. Activate the app and take notice the IP address on the screen (192.168.xxx.xxx:xxxx). useful codes for huawei y550 *#*#2846579#*#* this gives lots of settings for manufacturer tests on the phone but does not give setting to 4g only. it usefull in that it lest the usb setting be changed from GOOGLE MODE to MANUFACTURER MOSE or to NORMAL MODE - so when the phone is connected by usb to a pc the user can have turn off GOOGLE MODE which sends loads of info to google about your pc and phone and instead turn the phone to NORMAL MODE which does not send info off without your knowing it. also you can set other usb modes that are useful if you want to ADB into your phone and use ROOT and other stuff to modify the phones settings and ...too much to explain try the code and have a look

As a Y550 owner I can confirm that this device is terrific value running KitKat, having 4G, a 64 bit chip and even being able to record 720p HD videos in stereo for less than £100/�120. If owners do not like Huawei's proprietary user interface (due to its lack of an app drawer) installing the Google Now launcher will provide a clean Android stock style interface.

Download the free video app then set your browser to youtube.com. Download your video and it will be saved on videos. Play the video from there with mobile data off and lock the screen. It will play on the background .It works for me on the iPhone. Try it hopefully it works for you too....

how to get photos to you computer-u ask- 1- either transfer photos and phone data to hi suite (huawei)pre downloaded to computer .. 2-transfer/copy photos to handset micro sd memory card- then use usb adaptor to computer and "import " photos from memorycard to computer - my documents /photos or windows media .. 3- download google photos app on handset - auto transfer photos to googlephotos( full manual or auto editing ) -link to your gmail on handset G+ .. then log in to your gmail on computer and open G+ ..you should see all the photos which can again be edited on computer large screen ..and stored . 4- put blue tooth adaptor on your tv - use computer or handset bluetooth to tranfer and see photos on tv screen .. does this answer your question ?

i bought a huawei y550 about 10 days ago. ITS BRILLIANT - i used to have a huawei y300. and this does everything the y300 did but MUCH FASTER AND BETTER. - i tether my huawei to my pc and then download a file from internet on my pc TO COMPARE PHONES AND - my old huawei y300 tethering internet to my pc top speed was 3oo k/s - my new y550 when its picking up a 4g signal and tethered to my pc i got 1.2 megabit/s when downloading the same 40megabyte file. SO CONCLUSION HUAWEI y550 is MUCH BETTER phone - ONLY PROBLEM is there is no setting to LOCK IT TO 4G - it can be set to -3g only- or -4g/3g/2g/auto select- there is NO WAY to lock it to -4G only- i have emailed huawei they replied and told me to contact my local UK huawei service agent - and so i emailed UK huawei and NO REPLY - - so IT YOU WANT THE PHONE AS AN INTERNET CONNECTION AND TO TETHER IT TO YOUR PC AT 4G - dont buy it as it cannot be set to lock to 4g- the phone other than that is FANTASTIC! battery life is lasting very much better than my huaweiy300 - but cant lock y550 to -4g only- and huawei wont reply so im now looking at a sony xperia as a mate bought a sony xperia and it can be set to 4g only- so if your buying it to thether and get 4g - buy a different phone that can be set to -4g only-
