Huawei MediaPad M3 8.4 - User Reviews

  • I have new M3, Harman Kardon speakers is great, powerfull sound from hedphones, super sharp display, very good battery, speed, quality... TOP 3 tablets!

  • had this around 2yrs. it still works fine, and faced a lot of damage from my sibs. dropped it multiple times and it does have cracks, you can even see some of the inside of the tablet. and the recently someone sat on it and it got REALLY bent. but it still works. of course there's a stutter here and there, and the occasional sudden shutdown of an app, but what do you expect from a device that faced this much damage? it's pretty great for what it's worth. i would have definitely kept using this tablet because it's so easy to use, but i have to move on and get another device. the only thing i will complain about doesn't really have to do with the tablet itself but huawei. i was running out of space and got an SD card and that's when i learned you can't transfer apps to the card, only files. huawei said it was to prevent your phone from slowing down considerably (which to be fair, it happens to some devices) but that should be the consumer's choice, not theirs. if that wasn't the case, i would definitely be getting another huawei device. but for now, i will probably get the vivo v15. oh yeah and the last update was july 2018 but i don't care for updates. but for people that do, don't get this tablet. cheers

  • Does not have ear microphone for calls uses speakers to hear caller 8

  • Mine also don't want to upgrade. Even with Firmware Finder. It is the model with build # BTV-DL09C433B001. I believe that Huawei is not upgrading the M3, with the hope that they can sell more M5. Nothing differentiates the two models greatly, other than the OS. I will also never buy another Huawei. The Mediapad is good. Huawei ethics is below par.

  • Can turn off the speaker phone when making call?

  • (Not bad 4 GB ram), (Classy Aluminum case), light feather weight, battery life excellent, _shakes impressively on full volume_ from the widely placed speakers , mutifunction home key tales getting used too, but is very innovative, easily super-cedes easily bumped control buttons or keys on other tablets. (Slows down) as you would expect from a thinnish tablet, media pad (GPU wise), drawing all those pixels, getting a bit hot switches to slower cores makes the battery last longer, freezes up sometimes. The only dissappionting feature of this Media Pad_ 4 GB _ram ,slow hd resolution, classy aluminum case ,posh prices.the (usual bloatware) or (too many apps smallish internal HD).

  • why my mediapad so laggy when I play game such as pubg. any, solution guys? help me please.

  • it will stay at the latest os if u updated to 7.0. cheers

  • If you full reset your Android 6.0 mediapad. Will it automatic update to Android 7.0 after that or it will remain at Android 6.0?

  • yes

  • can u play mobile legends here or ros?

  • Is it a phone also?

  • I had 59.8GB left when I bought the tablet.. Im using the Chinese variant.. No playstore installed in it.. I had to install that... It was a good deal

  • Tablet doesn't need Oreo. It performs extremely well with Nougat, an update is not needed.

  • BTV-DL09 user here...I got the nougat update since I got this tablet April 2017, I have been getting security patches..the one I have now is february 2018 patch.still no Oreo yet.instead am getting updates on the file manager gallery cloud music player and so on.this is disapointing..GIVE US OREO HUAWEI

  • the new update is EMUI 5.0.1 and android 7. after i recevied my tablet ( 3 week ago) in 7 days is update android 6 to 7 and EMUI 4.0.2 TO 5 ...after 1 week is update to EMUI 5.0.1 ( Italy - romanian user )

  • what is it's android right now?

  • it doesn't receive any update in Iran! I don't know why huawei doing like this. it's an expensive tab, and should get better support. unbelievable

  • regarding the 64gb model...how much internal memory is left with all the pre installed apps and/or bloatware that comes with the tablet??

  • That's true.

  • One update is nowadays a usual. Especially because android 7 is better for tablets. What is wrong when they pay same as a huawei phone for tablet. The difference of price of tablet vs phones is parts like camera that are usually weaker. So what is wrong with paying and expect support for only one update?! (If it was 7 in the first, at least i didn't mind if it doesn't get any updates)

  • Do not use another charger use huawei charger only and you got better

  • No it doesn't come with headphones. But speakerphone.....

  • I used this tab for almost 1 year now. Very satisfied. Good sound system, good battery life, great display.

  • That's great news! I just ordered one of these and can't wait to get it.

  • My MediaPad M3 arrived last Friday and it was updated immediately to Android 7.0 (Nougat). It looks stunning, the battery life is great and the sound is spectacular.

  • Hi guys! I'm buying a tablet this weekend but I still can't decide which one to get. Here are the current prices (with rough conversion of currency from JPY to USD). Will mainly use it for Netflix amd Google sheets lols. The screen on galaxy is really awesome but m3 has a good screen as well based on reviews, I am a bit concerned about touch issues on M3 so please confirm if it has been resolved by the update. Any thoughts and comments? Replies will be greatly appreciated! Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 (¥34,000/ $312) Huawei Mediapad M3 (¥30,000/$275)

  • I love android 7.0 with emui 5.0, ive just updated my mediapad m3, happy user here,..

  • Yes for me.

  • You are definitely not the original charger, it takes nothing more that 1h40mins to get a full charge with the original charger plus the battery can last you up to 4days light use and 2days heavy use

  • No...

  • Hi guys, my tablet took 7 hours to get charge 0% to 100%. Is it normal or I m using wrong adapter or cable? How much time it take to charge?

  • I want to know , ear phone includes or not in original packing?

  • I want to know, how good this tablet is for gaming. How long the battery last.....

  • ???

  • How come mine is still at 6.0?

  • Problem with people is that they buy tablet and expect everything.

  • It works on the ATT cellular network here in the US. I have been using it now for two weeks with no issues.

  • Does Any one knows if the 4G version support whatsupp and imo voice calls ?

  • Lol my tab s2 got 84k score

  • Well the mediapad scores more than the zenpad and the Samsung With an antutu of around 93k-100k While the zenpad is 74k-80k And the tab s2 at 52k-56k These are the benchmarks

  • 5g wifi does not work in US, per their spec sheet on huawei's web site. Verified at home with 5g wifi. Only 2.4g wifi worked.

  • Will this device work with cellular networks in the US?

  • Yes, you can make "ordinary" phonecalls. I always call it "my Giant backpackers phone" ;-)

  • Does the tab really support upto 256 GB? In the manufacture manual it is upto 128 GB

  • My tablet is updated to Nougat

  • thanks. Is this the method others call "forcing" it to update? are there differences or drawbacks?

  • yes you can download the emui 5 nougat update by downloading the firmware finder thru playstore so you can update it manually like a charm my brother is using this device as well so I know

  • Can make call?

  • If only it had usb C and a bit bigger battery!! So close to being a perfect tablet!

  • Hello. Can you guys help me out. I am from the Philippines, and I am thinking of buying the mediapad m3 8.4 lte version. Before i buy this though, I would like to ask if you guys know if emui 5 is available via OTA here in the Philippines. I have asked Huawei consumer support, and all i get is a canned response that doesn't really say if emui 5 is available or not.

  • Do anyone have problem when using mirror share from M3 to smart TV? My problem is when I use this function it shown only half screen on TV. I tried it again after factory reset but this problem still persist. Do anyone have any suggestion to fix this issue? Please kindly share to me. My device using EMUI 5.0 and Android 7.0 . Thanks in advance;)

  • Can you tell me if the update to Nougat and EMUI 5 has solved the problem that caused many apps to start in "phone mode" instead of "tablet mode" (e.g. chrome, youtube, gmail)?

  • It's been over an year. Huawei or Samsung needs to make a great 8" tablet in a small form factor.

  • I buy one MediaPad from ksa but camera is not working properly and front camera works horizontal

  • Does anyone know whether to wake the tablet by double-tapping or moving your finger across the screen

  • I want to buy this for gaming but 7/10 reviewers say don't go for it if for game purpose, some demanding games with high graphics (Asphalt, Modern Combat etc) won't do well in Mediapad M3 due to low graphic card. Should I just go for Samsung Tab S2 or Asus Zenpad 3s 10 ? Please suggestion

  • Million thanks for your respond, my last question is can I get 60fps without any issues on it? In Cambodia they sell it for $335 free case and screen protector

  • im using it for war robot.... no problem at all

  • Hi please tell me your game's name. I want to buy it for gaming mainly for War Robots and Asphalt, what do you think thank you.

  • Its actually just a big phone. With cellular functions (2/3/4G, voice & sms).

  • Does the tablet (BTV-DL09) have the option to encrypt the device (every android device I had before can do this!!!)? I looked every where but failed to find this setting (not in security, storage, even if I search for "enc" under the settings search bar. I need to have that to store personal and work information... At first boot, it detected an update and is now running Android 7.0 with EMUI 5.0.

  • Does anyone know if there are any plans by Huawei to release a successor to this?

  • I lock my mediapad with google account,i forgot passcode, now i cant restore sistem..any1 know how can i fix that?

  • But they're too expensive

  • It really beats all the competition. What reviewers forget to mention is the unique HiSuite bei Huawei. The only truly perfect PC synchronization suite that will even sync Outlook contacts and calendar locally and perfectly. All other big brands have conspired to sabotage Microsoft and try to force users to do any sync through their gmail / google account / google cloud. For 80% of the World where Internet connectivity is expensive and often not available. local sync is a must. And we will happily live and work with Huawei HiSuite!

  • I had mine updated too, internet connections more stable cause it can automatic shift to 3g when no 4g connections. But are u having battery drain problem after update? I got 14% left when i went out morning but it's already completely out of battery when i come home by 6pm.

  • My unit just updated to EMUI 5.0 last month. The user experience is much better after the update.

  • Please BEWARE before buying the Huawei MediaPad M3. The hardware is good with very good battery life BUT: 1) the back up software app – Huawei “HiSuite” - after last update no longer recognizes the MediaPad M3, Huawei says its a known problem, with no estimated date for patch, it has been 5 weeks now. 2) The tablet is running Android 6 and EMUI 4.1 with no information when if ever Huawei will update this product to Android 7 (or 8) and EMUI 5 as they are doing for their other products. So your data and other information is subject to loss or compromise until Huawei does these updates. Also Huawei does not show a repair facility in the United States. Again buyer BEWARE.

  • Are you calling with voice over IP or does this unit has a phone radio function through 3G?

  • can you please comment on if this m3 can be used as a phone in the US

  • just turn on the power saving mode the resolution with be lower around 1920xsomething

  • i heard is the resolution problem you just on the power saving mode then its will be change to lower resolution then you will not be lagging

  • waiting my at lazada any update nougat 7.0 or 7.1

  • Amazon has it.

  • Hi The update is coming. But when...???? And it is Android 7.0(EMUI 5.0) and not 7.1. It is the way HOW Huawei provides the updates, that made me sell my M3. No more Huawei for me.

  • This is my first huawei tab/phone, and it will also be the last. The M3 itself isn't the problem. It is a good value for money tab. My reason for never buying one again, is the lack of service, support and EMUI. The update to emui 5.0 (to me it is NOT android 7.0 nougat!) Is released now for more than a month. 1 on 1000 has the luck of receiving the update. The rest...??? And don't bother asking huawei....No answer, or an imei number "not yet in system" reply." If you don't get it by OTA, Please send in your device , an we will install the update." What a stupid answer is that???? No more huawei!!!

  • I want to buy this tab but how buy on line

  • Huawei.. pls provide system update for this tablet. I would love this more if will be upgraded to 7.1 nougat with emui 5. Pls pls pls

  • It has 4G and it works well but make sure that the lte band of your service provider is compatible with this device

  • Camera sensors are typically 4:3, so to shoot 4K you'd need at least 3840 x 2880 (11MP). Usually you need a bit more (>12MP) for electronic stabilization. This 8MP sensor is 3264 x 2448 pixels.

  • With an 8MP sensor and it is not doing 4K video??!! That's a little bit of a let down... :~\

  • Would Huawei fix the lag in games in the major update of May 2017?

  • Will this device get Android 7?

  • Just got hand this tablet. Could be the best android tab beside galaxy tab s. Display and sound are exceptional. Still a bit lag on gaming compare to ipad. Octa core 4gb ram but anonimously lost out to tripple core 2gb ram ipad. Maybe the galaxy tab s3 with sd820 will gain back some pride for android. Snapdragon processor are expensive with weak gpu. Any brand willing to produce a fair price tab with the x20 or x30 mediatek processor?

  • you can buy at lulu or in city center emax

  • IT'S not outdated it even got a nougat update from sony. Check it first. M3 only performs in marshmallow. Compare the spec and features.

  • i want to so bad but its so much older than the m3 its pretty outdated technically. I wish sony still made tablets they made the best tablets!~

  • buy a sony xperia z4 tablet lte version. far more better than this.

  • i also have the problems connecting to wifi,i need help

  • Is the battery good?

  • how bout d gps,,, is it gud??? plz help me to clarify this as i'm goin to use it for uber driving apps... thanks admin

  • I am using both this phone and Note 8. The display is good but it is set to 30 seconds. No matter how I set (e.g 2 min or 5 min ) it will automatically reset to 30 seconds. It is very annoying. Huawei, I urge you to take step to fix this problem please!

  • Where to get a MEdiaPad M3 in Muscat?

  • Yes it has 4G LTE

  • Not working Because Band 40 is not available

  • Yes it has 4G capability

  • you know this tab having 4g for internet network? please..in urgent need to know the answer

  • Anyone know this tab having 4G for internet network ?

  • Me too.

  • I just recently bought this and there is an issue with the screen or digitizer. Similar with the previous posts. I'm still waiting for the seller's response if this is just a manufacturing defect or normal for this device.

  • Ok, I will have to check the Samsung out. I suppose it depends whats most important to us. For me, 64GB Hard-drive and I use my Huawei MediaPad M3 more so as a Phone. Again, the BEST sound quality on a Phablet. 8 inch device easy to hold.

  • Huawei T2 costs less than M3 with same specs, I have got Samsung sm T580 200 bugs goes smoothly like no other Samsung, octacore 2gb ram full HD 10.1 inches !

  • Another PRO: -Fingerprint scanner (I failed to mention as I'm yet to set it up)*

  • My Latest Huawei purchase, the Huawei MediaPad M3/64GB/LTE. Model BTV-DL09 is the model with LTE (Posted after 48 hours of use)* PROS: -Craftsmanship---identical to APPLE--Nothing short of superb/Much attention to detail -Excellent screen -Best speakers/sound ever/Positioned at top and bottom, not underneath device -AKG Headphones included -Google playstore/Google apps pre-installed -Not a lot of bloatware CONS; -Not dual sim -Cellphone service works/Internet works/Text messages would not work---but 3rd party text service did work (This is a new problem, I've never experienced this before). -Huawei support in US/Not helpful -LTE not working/HSPA prevails -Huawei should build a model US friendly, thus international barriers that come up in the US would subside More to come as I use this grand device.

  • Don't you mean worse specs. A72x4+A53x4 is much faster than A53x8. not to mention the resolution.

  • Huawei T2 costs less than M3 with same specs, I have got Samsung sm T580 200 bugs goes smoothly like no other Samsung, octacore 2gb ram full HD 10.1 inches !

  • Huawei MediaPad M3, hands down.

  • which is the best tablet huawei mediapad m3 or lenovo yoga tab 3 plus ?

  • Yes, it is unresponsive. Hope it'll be fixed with a software/driver update. I've posted some demo videos on the xda forum:

  • Battery life is only so-so

  • I hope GSMarena will have a written review of this tab especially the battery life, the specs of this tab is great compared to other brands.

  • My dearest me.Thanks for your polite response!!! I don't blame you at all!!!?Because knowledgeable ones just answer scientifically !!!Please once more reas my comment and if can't,give it to someone to answer logically !!I just follow my moral factwriting guidelines whether someone like it or not !!!The only reason,I write in gsmArena,is its unbiased factwriting point of views as I know its income is merely comes from ads,....Thanks anyway dearest me!!Justice Rights,....

  • You talk more than nonsense Omid46.

  • Dears, Even if I've to recognize that this table in general is outstanding, I'm really frustated about Battery Draining with WiFI on. My experience starts to be terrible as the Battery is draining dramatically with WiFi on and the tablet in standby. The battery is consuming 4-5% per hour without doing nothing at all. Take into account that this drain happens with, BT off, GPS Off, GSM off.. just wifi connected to my Router. Someone is experiecing the same issue? if yes did you solve it? Many thanks!

  • Can I use stylus on this tablet?

  • does anyone encounter problems with the touchscreen response? I read several complaints over the XDA forums about the screen not being very responsive... does it have something to do with the high resolution and relatively not as powerful graphic card? or it's a problem with the digitizer?

  • No radio fm budy

  • Hi there, Are you sure this tablet got FM radio? 10x in advance!

  • The 950 blows away even the latest snapdragon 821

  • Hi guys, I need to know, are this tablet got FM radio or not. ty

  • is the microphone recording sound on this tablet in an acceptable quality? how would it compare to the sound quality you get from recording on a regular smartphone I have the MEizu pro 6 and quite like the sound quality

  • hi does anyone who owns this tablet could comment on whether the wifi works for them without issues, good reception levels and without disconnects? I read somewhere that someone mentioned they have issues with Wifi on this tablet

  • have you try stream or using MHL connection to display screen output to TV?

  • Thanks for your minish review. By now most people should know that this thing can make calls. What about What's App? BTW it cost MYR1,699 in Malaysia.

  • Dearest Anonymous n.Congratulations for having this higher midrange class table. As you already logically scientifically know, there's no any differences between inside 64 GB and 32 gb ones qualities for sure, since with the the external auxiliary memory at hand, with advanced android OS,s,you can transfer all the data there!!All the specifications are the same too!!!A 64 GB memory in free market is above $20 !!The differences between a 32 GB and 64 GB inside memory is more than $200 price in some markets!!!? All humans are considered sane, logical, smart and genius worldwide without exceptions!!So,what excuses the brands nowadays having to continue these wrongly using of abusing treatments towards the most hardest earning money classes to be justified even for themselves!!!?Thanks in advance for your answer and gsmArena to prove its impartiality....Justice Rights,is always alive....

  • great tablet but the camera is bad

  • I got this 2 weeks ago.So far very good, battery time is great, screen, sound. No complaints so far, only positive. mine is the gsm version, has LTE. Not comfortable to use as a daily phone but can be used as to make calls, better to use it as a phone with ear oiece.

  • Dearest electronic technology enthusiasts.Fairly speaking, this tablet specifications(though pricey!?)shows midrange uppermost qualities according to todays standards! But,as a research shows, almost all Huawei products, after this tablet are descending and deteriorate rapidly....!!!Just why!!!?A brand called Xiaomi from the same China(Made by China)is doing much more better with just 40+products and very lower prices!!!In my opinion,Huawei success depends on considering all people smart and genius!!Todays, people, with the hardest works, earn money! So,they deserve better products and much more lower prices!!Why!!?There used to be wrong misconception of(No made in China!!) Chinese low products!!!Why does Huawei confirms this misconception by following the brands that think about nothing but MONEY!!!?Happily Chinese brands such as Xiaomi buy reputation for Chinese smartdevice smartphone industry! Why not Huawei!!!?I said what my moral guidelines order me to say!!Though I doubt about gsmArena publishing it for....!!!Thanks all mentioned names.Justice Rights is my slogan....

  • wich one is better this one or the SG tabd s2 8"?

  • Yes wait 4 months

  • No but it comes with 2A charger so might be little faster than regular one which is 1A,or 1.5A

  • Yes

  • I bought in hong kong at hkd 3180 you can convert it

  • just got it a few days ago. extremely smooth operations with kirin chipset (which is the same one as in the p9?) not been using a lot, but tried pumping the volume up and it's absolutely amazing! have to admit that it's probably the best value-for-money 8 inch tablet so far!

  • Anyone having this beauty please share a mini review. It would be much appreciated. Oh and the price in USD?

  • The specs says it has 2G is the sim free version cable of being used as a phone? Reviews say naught.

  • thank you so much for your help

  • and it still unable to run 4K video capturing ya right, very powderful

  • Hello, don't be afraid, chinese app is only if you buy the tablet from chinese market. Also you can install google contact sync. I think this is the best tablet you can buy for your use.

  • 810? go home you are drunk. Kirin 950 is more powerful than sd 820, even match 8890, in fact kirin 955 is the more powerful arm cpu. Ofc it graphic card is weak, but you said about cpu.

  • it should be 16:10 if it is 2560x1600

  • Does anyone know if there is going to be a 10 inch version of the mediapad M3?

  • what is the aspect ratio of the MediaPad M3? (4:3, 16:9, 16:10) thanks in advance

  • Yes you can make voice calls

  • Huawei now is away better than smasung my Friend i used samsung for almost last 8 year but Unfortunately, the quality compared to the price is so bad as Example the note 7 unfortunate but Huawei is realy make good price good quality , all what you dream

  • me asking the same it dose have phone functionality ?

  • Hi. can i make a voice call? Like Huawei MediaPad M2 8.0

  • Hi, does M3 support quick charging?

  • It is a very nice and interesting tablet. Far to be satisfied but I appreciate the technical advance. I would like to find in this kind of gadget a barometric sensor, a better camera, FM radio, stylus and a decent water, dost and shock protection.

  • Hi, I have used Mediapad Honor X1 7D-503L as a mobile phone for few years, the only issue was Google sync (sometimes) and camera wasn’t that good. I like and used Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 as a phone too without any issues but unfortunately my daughter broke the display. Need advice Mediapad M3 (concern about Google sync and Chinese apps) or Samsung Tab S2 (SM-T719, 2016)? Many thanks

  • When the device be available to shops?? Release day was at 26 of Sept and nothing happened.anyone knows?

  • awesome,,,,,,,,

  • Its a beautifull device i love it but lack of flash make me stay away... It feel like i have looking ipad.. But i go for samsung galaxy tab s8.4 lte.

  • Haha

  • Yeah you can use the Huawei Mediapad M3 as a phone, but only with the LTE version

  • Keep an eye on the Asus Zenpad 3S 10.

  • Cannot open my media pad after it went off even though it was charge. Tried pressing the power button but it did not respond. What should I do?

  • yes it is definitely much better than that Samsung tab

  • Is this tab better than samsung tab 3 8.0 sim edition...... Does this tab has a good quality

  • Hi, please build a version 10.5 inch by kirin 955 or 960 for vs ipad i want this product

  • All Huawei devices I've used have usb host and usb OTG support. That one is basic and shouldn't be an issue

  • Don't mind him. He's probably never used a tab before

  • Removable Battery on a tablet? Excuse me?

  • Non-removable battery is a deal killer. I was waiting for 8" 16:9 phablet and this is very disappointing. I can go through two batteries a day, means I will have to carry powerpack just for M3. and built-in battery will deteriorate within a year making phone unusable. They should stop this glued-in madness until battery technology improves to acceptable level.

  • The kirin 950 is way better than the S810

  • Huawei makes their CPU chips in-house like Samsung. The Kirin 950 is equivalent to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. All Android powered devices can be rooted to install your custom ROM's

  • yes the harman kardon sound sounds very interesting because it has powerful clear sound. add that to your up coming mate 9 including ""usb on-the-go.

  • It seems to be using a weird CPU. Will there be CyanogenMod for it? Because, I will never buy another Android device that is not supported by custom ROM's, unless it is very very cheap. I am not foolhardy enough to believe that OEM's would provide security patches and OS updates for a product one year or more old.

  • 349 Euro for 32 Gb version without LTE

  • Hello... any idea of the price?

  • and ram

  • if compare with mediapad m2 10 ..just feel like mediapad m2 8.4 pro version..just a processor not same
