Huawei MediaPad M5 10 (Pro) - User Reviews

  • does the tablet support usb otg?

  • The USB-c to aux converter is included in the box...

  • Tablets or phones without headphone jack means without sound. It is so bad to see such a good things without 3.5mm port. Only reason is they want to sell you BT phones or converters apart. Smart devilish companies.

  • I got it and I was super happy until I wanted to connect it to HDMI or VGA projector for college.. and I bought adapter, but it didn’t work, I called the HUAWEI services and they said it doesn’t support wired connection, but our projectors are old and dont support that ,, so you guys have any solutions?

  • Best tablet so far plus its cheap.. Why buying overprice iPad when you can get cheap and high quality mediapad m5 pro.. Yes, you can play game far smoother in iPad but why buying a tablet just to play games when you can play logicaly on a smartphone. With mediapad m5 pro, you still can play high demanded games. wacthing netflix in a big hd display and superb quad speakers. not to mention fast charging cable & adapter included in the box.. high-quality stylus. I don't like the restricted shitty ios because when i can get a big potential android tablet.

  • is it support handfree and how can i use it

  • it has simple way, JUST DON'T USE SIM CARD. Finish

  • I'll add that Huawei's own player can play some MKV files, not all MKV files. Some MKV files will be missing the audio - no sound, only pictures. In my experience only the VLC player can play all MKV files, and every file on my hard drive. Even the MX player will be missing the audio with a few files. So here's what I do. I installed all the above players. I use the MX player as default. If the MX player can't play a certain file, I use the VLC player. It always work. I keep the Huawei's player just in case.

  • Yes, Huawei's own player can play MKV files. But why don't you use VLC or MX Player?

  • Hello guys, need help, it can play MKV file format in HUAWEI MediaPad M5 10 Pro, with out using VLC Player or MX Player...

  • I purchased my ipad 128gb for 450 euros and it is amazing. It is my first apple device and I'm android user. But i must admit that ipad is the best value for the money compared to tab s4 and mediapad m5. And performance is crazy. Pubg on extreme settings without any lag. Just go for the ipad 2018 and problem solved:)

  • In my country ipad 2018 is the cheapest among those 3 choices.

  • I do hope the 2016 MediaPad M6 10 will Finally have an OLED screen, its much better on my eyes than LCD.

  • I do agree with you tbf, manufacturers will do this, Intel do it, Nvidia do it too, the practice is nothing new but too those are in saturated markets, whereas when it comes to android tablets it's been on a decline, overall for the future of android tablets it doesn't help. Saying all that I'm very happy with the 960s version, runs very smooth and same as you I don't game on it and mainly use it watch media.

  • To be fair, I'm telling you that all M5 tablets come with a Type-C to 3.5mm earphone socket adapter. But again, the eliminating the 3.5mm earphone socket is another lousy marketing move to nag the users to the Bluetooth earphones. It doesn't affect me too much. Lucky me! Normally I don't use any earphone. Now I'll sing a little praise. I have the M5 10.8" non-pro version. The battery life is excellent. All tasks are fluid. For what it's worth, I use less than 20% of the storage space. The screen is just fine, but in a bright, sunny place, I'll have to turn the brightness to above 95% to be able to read the articles on the screen. At normal circumstance, I use only 45% of the brightness.

  • Hey s4f786, NPU or no NPU, the down speed move is simply a strategy to differentiate their products. It doesn't affect me too much, because I don't play games. So the Kirin 960-S is just fine for my uses. Besides, even the full speed Kirin 960 isn't great for games to begin with, and it was from 2016. Since you mentioned Kirin 960, guess why the factory didn't put a Kirin 970 in any M5 tablet? It's another marketing move. Too many such marketing moves that is slowing killing off the Android tablets.

  • So just got the non pro version on a black Friday deal for 258 pounds and boy is it an upgrade over my ageing Sony z2 tablet, love the screen, love that it has a bezel which isn't too massive but not too small, great for watching media without your hands getting in the way if you don't have a case for it yet. The sound on this thing is phenomenal, for a tablet it's super loud and provides a great amount of bass. The only thing I don't like is that there's no earphone jack, so something il have to get used to. Now for people wondering what's the difference between the pro and non pro, non pro version you can't use the stylus and also the cpu, the cpu in the pro version is the kirin 960 whereas the non pro is the 960s, what's the difference you may ask, well not much really, the 960s is just underclocked by 300mhz, but ads an npu from the 970 which the 960 doesn't have.

  • It's only lower clocked by 300mhz, it's till uses the same manufacturing process and same cores as in the 960, the 960s has got something over the 960, it has a dedicated npu

  • If the name with "pro", it has Kirin 960. Without "pro", Kirin 960-S, which is a lower performance, down grade version of the 960. Manufacturers do lousy things like this to differentiate their products.

  • This tablet has kirin 960 or 960s.and what is the diference betwen the two? Thanks

  • "For study & office, Maybe gaming" "need a competent tablet with good life span" - I read PDF files on this tablet. It's excellent for this task. I don't have MS Office on it, but I can write notes. - I've been using this tablet for the past month and a half. I'll say it is a competent machine for anything I throw at it. I don't play games on it. I mainly use the tablet for reading: files and webpages. Also, screen mirroring. So I can watch content on big screen TV. It does this well. - The battery life is good. The charging is fast. I usually charge the battery when it's 70% and stop when it's 95%. It take 30 minutes max. - Huawei's build quality is very good. I expect this tablet to last a good number of years without any problem. In the long run, the tablet is as good as its battery. And, you will want the software updates. Because without it, the tablet will become vulnerable, and you won't be able to run the new apps.

  • can use this mediapad for making phone calls

  • guys need help... how do you move apps to the storage card?

  • What is the difference betweem Pro e Standard versione of this M5? Only the stylul pens and the CPU?

  • why do they keep making only GSM tablets. they should make only Wi-Fi versions for those that dont need sim card in tablet. this will reduce price

  • Thanks Updates are not important for me but what realy I need is a tablet for studying&office purposes & may be used for gaming. Also I need a competent tablet with good life span.

  • Huawei M5 is the cheapest of the three tablets. It is Android. The downside is it won't receive software updates. Huawei M3 for example, it's from 2017 and stuck with Android 7 Nougat. It's only from last year, and Huawei is still selling it, but won't update it to Android 8 Oreo. This Huawei M5 you're looking at is on Android 8 Oreo. It won't receive update either. And, it doesn't have Widevine L1 certificate for legal HD streaming. If you're OK with these flaws, then buy the M5. Or else, buy the Ipad 2018. The Samsung will be expensive and it will only receive 2 times updates and no more. In contrast, my Ipad Air from late 2013 is still receiving software updates. It got iOS 12 updates a week ago. That is for a 5 years old tablet. I have to give credit to Apple Inc. My Ipad Air still works great.

  • I have note 8 & I am regular android user, now I want to buy a tablet,I am confused which to buy: Ipad 2018 or Huawei mediapad M5 or wait for Samsung tab S4. Kindly if anyone can help me in the decision concerning performance, expected life span. Thanks

  • Probably the reason this model of a Huawei tablet doesn't have an FM Radio Chip in it: No possible antenna for reception.

  • Yes, M5 all versions support the OTG. However, the file transfer speed is only the USB 2.0 standard.

  • I don't think you should pick this up if you intend to play shooting games (TPS/FPS), as there is problems with their touchscreen firmware (as usual from Huawei) that messes up your aim if you were to make minor adjustments. You can search XDA to find more information about it.

  • Its too heavy, check out samsung if you want lighter

  • Does Huawei M5 pro tablet supports OTG? I am trying to connect USB thru C Port extension. Please advise.

  • I want a tablet that are great for movies and plays PUBG smoothly. The only strongest android tablets I can find are Huawei Mediapad M5 and the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. both came out this year but with last year's chipset, same battery(huawei is a bit bigger), same 4gb of ram, same screen resolution(i dont really mind the amoled), same camera resolution and both have 4 speakers. I don't like Apple because of the iOS. I don't wan't to go to trouble when transfering files from my laptop. It's easier with android. So what would be a better deal for movies, music and games? save some money and get the Huawei Mediapad M5 or Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 would be worth it?

  • Things like these make ppl miss a Sony tablet. rem the Z4 tablet...twaz all round better than this.

  • Is the speakers made by harman/kardon?

  • I think it can because it use Nano-sim card, but it doesn't have 3.5mm ports so you will rely on wireless connections. The taller 16:10 screen ratio is weird, since a 10 inch tablet have more space for display so no need to use taller screen ratio, this will affect the media contains either have black bar on the screen when playing YouTube videos or will crop the screen contain, it isn't a great idea and difficult to find the tablet bag due to the taller size up.

  • Lack of audio Jack.Bluetooth 5.1 +its auxiliaries, radio + rds,USB 3.1 +otG decreases qualities !? Hopefully gsmArena write a review for it though people expect much more from Huawei....Thanks mentioned names.

  • does this makes phone calls?

  • No headphone jack? Why? Didn't it fit in a freaking tablet? Love Huawei, but stuff like this...

  • it´s an amazing Tablet. I just don´t like the emui. It only costs 380 Euro. Octacore is perfect and the sound of the 4 Stereos are very usable

  • The cost is too expensive for hwaui devices. If i spend such money, why i do not shift to ipad? 😜 .

  • Is this premium device or just midrange

  • Buy compatible charger for $5 on AE or GB or BG... it's not big deal

  • super slow chagrining unless you use the original charger, it support fast charging with original charger only, if you use other fast charger you will get very slow charging and you need full day to charge

  • what about the 128gb model?? isn't available for sale? because all I see is 64gb only.

  • Huawei delays for long or maybe cancelled due to the release of cheap iPad.

  • FINALLY an android flagship tablet :') all tho nit a total flagship chipset :P go for a chrome pad

  • Both Led flash?. Not, no are.

  • Well said my friend. It's about time to cut the cord. With Bluetooth, I can have the tablet charging at while I'm listening to music unhindered by a cord.

  • Hopefully Huawei don't get greedy and make it expensive, 2018 device and still uses usb 2.0 !!

  • Hope they make it a lot cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 9.7 or may as well just go buy the samsung...Headphone jack, proper usb type c 3.1 and the spen with 4096 levels of pressure..

  • no audio jack, got bluetooth, not a problem. who give a negative comment person, should upgrade your mind and upgrade yourself who still using wired types.....

  • Why not Hisilicon Kirin 970 dear Huawei Pro?

  • Why all the headphone crying? Why buy the latest phone if you're stuck on 90s wired headphones? Buy an iPod ...

  • Want my opinion? No headphone jack? GTFO.

  • looks like a promising tablet. However, the lack of a 3.5 mm headphone jack is a big disappointment and unacceptable and for me a reason not to buy this tablet. Looks like the new crazy trend is blutooth earpods which are sold extra and not exactly cheap (see apple, google, sony). All in order to make more profit. The solution with an extra dongle is half baked and inconveniencing.

  • MediaPad but no headphone jack? Ohhhh amazing Thinking skill Huawei.

  • rumored specs look very nice, (well, after the poor newest tablet releases this looks good), hope it is a good one
