  • if you manga lover or comic lover and mostly using your tablet for reading. wait no time and buy this tablet. this is the best 7 inch tablet for manga reader. the aspect ratio is rare among android tablet. most tablet using 16:9 which is displaying the manga page with 2 big black area at the top and buttom, and if you switch to ipad or newer tablet they are using 4:3 aspect ratio which is display the page with 2 big black area at left and right side and if u choose to resize the page as width the buttom and top page will be cut of and you need to scrool it to read. while mediapad x1 using 16:10 aspect ratio which is closer to the aspect ratio of a manga page, you got one full page with very little black area at buttom and top and since u can hide the navigation bar at the buttom the manga page show a little bigger. the screen is very bright and u can tweak the color temperature so the manga page color can be choosen to be a bit red or blue or suit your needs. the size is the smallest 7 inch tablet in the world and the lightest, i can hold it one hand when reading or u can make it easier to hold with some apps that make the side screen not responsive to the touch so you can place your thumb at the side. the battery life is amazing and it charge very quick. 5 - 6 hours streaming HD utube nonstop or playing ppsspp nonstop till my arm hurts lol and still have juice to run, if u use it only for manga reader it will be easily run for full day. i have tested many phone and tablet for manga reader like WM samsung omnia, s1, s2, s3, s4, g2, p780, optimus vu, moto G, itouch, note 2, note 3, 7 inch ainol novo, galaxy tab 7, galaxy note 10.1, ipad mini, ipad 2, ipad air, and mediapad x1 for sure is the best for displaying manga. it is easily to read black on white manga or color manga and it displayed it with correct aspect ratio, showing one full page with 300ppi u will rarely tap to zoom. priceless. the cons are, limited internal storage, weak CPU for heavy task, some lag on keyboard, mono speaker and its not loud but with headset its good because it has DTS chip, side volume button and power button is too soft easily accidentally press if u planning to use it as manga reader u need to root it and install button mapping to disable the power button. other than that this is a legendary manga machine, u love manga and comic u should try mediapad x1

  • I'm having trouble with disconnected calls frequently. Anybody else experienced this? Any solution? It's really annoying. Signal is strong and yet in the middle of call, it gets disconnected. Sometimes when there's whatsapp notification comes in during call, it gets disconnected as well.

  • I am using this little Giant since last 8 months.. It has not a single scratch till now, it's metal body is made by good quality materials, I was also using this X 1 after Samsung note 3, but it's a little bit to handle with one hand, because as u know the screen size is a ratio of 4:3, note series have 16:9. Sadly Huawei left this model from upgrading to Lolipop. .. Have a great day..

It large enough to be a tablet when you want to watch a movie or photos, but it still small enough to be just a big phone if you wanna to call somebody (and forget your headset at home :) ) And its cpu runs WoT Blitz without any lag. LTE works great, 100+ mbps - piece of cake! (if your cell operator can provide that :) ) If you like music - it gives you a decent amplifier. All you need is good headphones (stock ones are ugly, i recommend sony xba series headset) and it overwhelm you with a THERMONUCLEAR SOUND :)

  • Please try these few simple steps. .. 1,Setting > Protected apps > here you can adjust which apps running after the Screen is of.. 2, Setting > Start up Manager > here you can control which apps run after the phone start up.... My X1 is running on 4.4 with an average consumption of 70 % with a lot of apps. .. Of course it will help you if you do it proper.. . As we know Android OS is consuming a lot of RAM... Good luck..

  • There are 2 types of Home Menu available by default UI, go to settings, Device, Home Screen style, Standard and Simple options, apply which one you like.. You can customize your own way by this UI and installing other Launchers available in Play store...

  • Sorry I cannot help you on that since I don't use handwriting and different language on phone. I prefer to use English with auto detection, just type in the first letter and it will give suggestions giving less time to type. And it also remember the most used words and give it as the first suggestion from the first letter typed.

  • You said "Just try it." So it is a trial and error situation. Not sure, 50% will work and 50% will not. What if is another error? So the time spent removing and adding the account is wasted! Don't experiment at the sake of others. Give a 100% solution or not at all.

  • If you want different font style you have to download a launcher. There are many launchers at Play store. And from there it has lots of icons packs. Hope this helps.

  • You mean the Font style, there is only one default font style. Any way I am not fond of customizing fonts and its default is already fine with me. I use my X1 for media only: watching YouTube videos, listening to online radios, playing light games, and taking selfies. As the name implies: "Mediapad". LOL!

  • Hello Cool sir, I bought X1 from EMax Shop for AED 920.3g 1 year warrenty modal, dont get headphone with the packet, i brought it seperatly after instaling some aps now my X1 playing realy great quality, just try that equaliser with Mx playr and Vlc with 10 equaliser fantastic change in audio quality.   • Your unit is fake! Mine comes with headset out of the box! Its sounds quality is better and no need to use equalizer, unless it is FAKE! LOL!

  • Me too didn't get Headset with the box.. Actually there is a built-in application for music effects called Music Fx. . It's only for average users and quality.. If u want optimize audio quality on Video player, You Tube, Install Smart Android app Equalizer from Play store and Mx player for videos, Go to settings - sounds - select this Equalizer as default, adjust the equalizer for best quality.. This Equalizer will work for You Tube also. . You can feel the difference. But it will not work with the built in music player. . There are 2 solutions 1, Install additional music player like Player pro, it's built in controls including equalizer and other effects can reach the best results. . 2,VLC Media Player is available on play store just install it and enjoy audio and video files with built-in 10 band equalizer.. One more important thing is the Headset must be also a good one.. (Bullet type delivers more deep Bass)

  • Yes of course, If you have a lap and If Printer support, I am using Samsung M2070W and I am printing documents wirelessly on my lap and X1... Connect the printer to lap go to printer settings, wireless settings.. . That's all, now remove the printer cable and print it wirelessly on both of ur devices... (Install Plug in from play store or printer's official website on ur X1).

Google+ is not displayed on the available Google Apps. ..In my primary phone it's displaying as 1st result.. . {I make a screen shot of that Google+ is not displayed on Play store} as we know that the uncompataivle contents will not displayed.. Then I tried to install from Huawei App store.. It's downloads.. not installed.. Then tried with built-in browser there I got the message from play store site that select which device that you want to install. . I select Media pad x 1. .. Then it shows this device is not compatible.. . I saved that screen shot also.. . But now I am enjoying Google+ on my lap and Huawei Media pad x 1 through UC browser.. . X1 is the only and one available in the market @ 240 $ with shipping. .. I updated very easily to 4.4 through the link provided by Tcool (those who can't update with the link go to need rom site there is some simple tips to recognize the downloaded zip file by your x1) for superior bright and white clarity on screen select cool from display setting.. We can do a lot of with the new UI3. .. I like and love the 4:3 body ratio and we can get the full resolution of 13 mp camera on full screen. ..   • I have a DSL modem in which when my Mediapad X1 connects to it, it will receive an excellent 54Mbps stable link speed. I also have a Samsung mobile Wi-Fi in which when my Mediapad X1 is connected, it will receive an excellent 72Mbps stable link speed even when my DSL modem is on and in the same room. No interference at all. And when I use my Mediapad X1 as portable Wi-Fi hot spot it will give a good 72Mbps stable link speed even inside the same room where a DSL modern is on. Amazing phone, I love it and no plan of upgrading to Mediapad X2.

  • Wi-Fi connections are affected by distance. e.g: try to go on 3rd floor of a building and connect to a Wi-Fi from the 1st floor and check its speed. then try it on 4th floor and so on...to see the difference.. :)

  • Ok next is I put data SIM card in it and used it as a portable Wi-Fi hot spot. Connected my two Samsung phones to it and it gives a good 72Mbps speed. This phone is really amazing! I found that its front camera picture quality is better than my S5 and Note Edge front cameras. Everything work well, no problem at all!

My Medaipad X1 is showing a constant of 72Mbps speed. How come your Sony, Asus and X1 are showing different speed? Perhaps you got a defective X1, bring it back to the store as soon as possible!

  • Thanks. I am 100% sure they are all connected to the same router in the same house. Just that because different brands different wifi reception. Sony T2 ultra is consistently at 72Mbps link speed but different signal strength between excellent n good most of the time at different spots within the same floor. My Huawei rarely excellent 72Mbps, most of the time excellent or good but 5Mbps. Can be poor or fair at 1Mbps at certain spots in the same house. Very big fluatuations!

  • Mine is also 7D-501L. I check mine has 54Mbps. Then I check on Huawei Ascend Mate 7 it has also 54Mbps. Then I check on Samsung Galaxy S5 it has also 54Mbps. Then I check on Samsung Galaxy Note Edge it has also 54Mbps. It is the speed of the router not the phone. How come you have different speed? Something is wrong with your unit. Your units should have identical speed for the router. Check maybe they are connected to different Wi-Fi hot spots.

  • Mine is model: 7D-501L, Silver Back(White Panel), the box shows WIFI+LTE, Telco bill also shows it is LTE, unless manufacturer fault, LTE but no dual band.

  • Maybe you are using the 3G version which utilizes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n only. The LTE version uses Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band (LTE).

  • Hi, everyone. I just want to share my experience with this Mediapad X1. First of all I bought this because of it's superb battery performance. Second, it's LTPS screen is too clear in any angle. Third, it's built (size, thin & weight) is very comfortale to hold. However, ofcourse there are CONs and one of those is the RAM consumption which is very high... e.g: Built in RAM is 2GB but I only have 800+ MB of free memory in start up with model 7D-501L JB stock ROM. I don't know if Kitkat can fix this problem. For those who are asking if X1 is better than Sony Z Ultra or other phablets, the answer is.. it depends on what the buyer prefers the most, like I've said I like it's battery coz i use X1 for gaming.. though, I think Z Ultra is much better in other aspects like it's GPU performance but it's battery doesn't last that long.. so, it's all up to you.. For me I'm more than satisfied with my mediapad X1 for now... coz I heard that there will be X2 coming out this year.. :)

  • I have this phone and I really like it. It's the smallest 7incher in the world. People cannot believe how it can fit in their pocket when I let them try it. Beautiful screen, aluminum finish. Mine already came with android 4.4 so there was no lag in the screen that the android 4.2 with huawei UI might have caused. Some concerns I would have so far: the LTE 4g works in Asia, Canada, Europe but sadly not USA so Americans are stuck with 3g in america. I thought single speaker in the back instead of dual front speakers would bother me, but it actually handled fine. Non replaceable battery? No problem at 5,000 mAmps nothing beats it. Last days. No NFC, not 64bit. I can live with it. It's the best. In a nut shell? A 7 inch in my pocket.

  • So far I must say I really really like this phone. I can't believe how unfair some of the critics are so dead wrong about this one. The only 7 inch because of it's thin borders can easily and suprisingly fit in my pocket. 5,000 mAh battery is unheard of yet, hardly a mention in reviews. Don't experience any lag perhaps because mine came with 4.4.2 already installed. LTE works in Asia and probably Europe and Canada but unfortunately not in America so relies on H+3g when I'm in the states. Add a clip in back for a stand or help hold with one hand and it's the best thing there is. And cheap for around $350. I know I'm beginning to sound like a sales shill but I just can't get over how overlooked this phone is.

  • Finally I solved my smart cover problem! It was the polarity of the magnet. by rotating the magnet the problem solved and cover work properly.

  • With its 7-in fHD screen, I personally think it worths every coin I spent. It brings watching HD video on mobile phones to the next level. Its performance is not top-notch but pretty decent, I played some high-end games on it and you can imagine how awesome it is to play HD games on that screen. My advice, buy it if the price is reasonable.

  • here it is: Just a warning: on curent jellybean firmware, the screen is set to 320dpi display; but most kitkat fw out there, including this b102 one, is set at 400dpi. So the text appear bigger and you will lose the tablet UI. It will become mobile UI for all applications.

  • The name is engraved at the bottom of the front cover: "Huawei MediaPad X1" It has also nice stitches around the edges of the cover. The only problem is I got scratches on it from my fingernail by accidental contact. I bought it from Jarir Bookstore KSA where I also bought my MediaPad X1.

  • I bought a flip window cover locally, unfortunately it is not working :-( I don't have access to buy a genuine one :-( I searched on the internet about how smart covers works and found that there are some magnets placed in covers so phone knows that a smart cover attached. I tested my cover surface with a piece of magnet and find a magnet placed on the door, next to earpiece that when you close the cover it will place around proximity sensor and front camera, but it seems that in genuine covers there is another magnet, so if your cover window is working properly please search for another magnet or metal in you cover so we can fix our cases. :-)

  • Strange as it may be... All I did was snap on the S-view cover, tick the cover window on the display setting and viola, it works like magic! Now with the Kitkat update more options are added to the S-view window of the cover.

  • Since it is thinner than other 7" tablets, put it inside a generic 7" tablet pouch. It will fit even with the S-view cover.

My only complaint is I can't disable auto wake up when opening its cover; because I usually put my X1 in bag and the front cover always open and close a little by itself; so the display is on and off in my bag; wasting battery. Anyone knows how to disable it? The Window Cover in Setting/Display won't solve; it just controls the small display of the opened window on front cover.

The battery last up to nine days in single charge if I use the ultra power saving mode (additional feature in Kitkat) and charging time is less than two hours to full charge. No problem with the camera. Camera shortcut appears on the S-view cover window. And lots of new functions. Happy with Kitkat on it, never will I go back to JB.

  • Had mine a month - it's better than brilliant I run a small business and I can just about manage runnng it on the road with the X1. Just one problem - I cant run my Barclays online banking from it which I could with my Samsung. Be careful where you buy it from - I had all sorts of problems with the outfit in China where I got mine Merrimobiles I think they were called (amatures and incompetence rather than rip off)

  • The answer is NO. That option is only available in other models of Mediapad X1. Not all X1 have that option.

  • I use dragon vlc on it with kitkat. I installed bsplayer and use that to watch the live feeds. So just click on link in dragon vlc and choose to open with bsplayer and it works fine.

  • I just figured it out, Dragon VLC pro is not compatible to Mediapad X1 Kitkat. But it is compatible to Mediapad X1 JB. Anyhow, I just keep it as Kitkat. I still have a 7.85" JB tablet that is compatible with Dragon VLC Pro. And all my Kitkat mobile phones are compatible also. Cheers!

  • Use the provided wall charger and use a shorter and thicker micro USB cable for faster charging. The longer the cable the more power drop along the wire hence it will takes time to fully charge. Thin wire gives more resistance to power transfer, thicker wire transfer more power while charging.

  • Been using the Mediapad X1 for 1,5 months now and here are the main pros and cons: + Display. Wonderful quality and brightness. Sunlight is no problem and the automatic brightness works very well. + Internet speed. 3G and especially 4G function really good and the surfing is a joy with my favourite browser Dolphin + Size. Perfect hybrid of a tablet and a phone. Fits into pockets and can be held on ear like any phone. For me this is the ultimate do-it-all mobile device + Look and feel. High quality feel and look, no cracks or other noises. Nice and slim body + Hardly anyone has this in Finland so draws positive attention :) + Camera. Not quite the level of the best today's phone cameras but still very good in good light. Lots of details and natural colors in pics + Speaker sound very good + Display surface very easy to be kept clean, just a wipe and it is like new - Bluetooth connection breaks sometimes, especially if something else is being done with the device simultaneously - Just a tiny lag exists, hopefully Kitkat fixes this. The lag is by no means disturbing although - Have had to boot twice in 1, 5 months

  • As a comparision, my 2 years old Samsung Galaxy Note 2 can alway lock satellite signal within 10 seconds, even in city urban area - thanks for the Glonass ability. It is not only about locking speed but also accuracy - the more satellites it can see the more accurate it is.

  • Not a big problem on motorway but in city area where high buildings exist everywhere and the street/road is narrow, it is essential that the handset see as much sattelites as possible. It will make a big difference. Plus, you normally do not need navigation on motorway, but in city urban areas, you do neet it.

  • Even without the glonass, my X1 gets the satellite fix always in about 10 seconds. Haven't had any problems with gps or navigation yet.

  • Now you can buy it with stock Android without Huawei's UI, but has to be under the HP brand. The true problem for me of this device is it does not support GLONASS which will sure reduce the positioning performance.

  • Yes, usually it doesn't matter. Just some TV apps didn't slide it away and there it disturbed a bit. I also like Dolphin browser's full screen setting and there it is nice to have the full 7 inches in use.. I had Sony Xperia Ultra and for some reason the navigation bar irritated me there :)

  • I have the European version 7D-501L, it is not a big deal even the navigation bar is always there. It doesn't bother me.

  • The European version is 7D-501L, it must be rooted in order to get the hideable nav bar. Chinese versions (7D-501u) have that functionality activated.

  • The Chinese ROMs of the X1 have the small hiding arrow, which hides the navigation bar and you can easily swipe it back when needed. However the European version, that I have, didn't have the possibility to hide the nav bar. I rooted my unit with KingoRoot and used a root browser to modify a system folder according to instructions I found at XDA developer forum. I just added two command rows and boom, now I have the possibility to hide the navigation bar. I must say that the functionality is very handy, when you need the full screen, e.g when browsing, you just click the bar away. Can totally recommend X1. Same screen quality as in Nexus 7, but much more compact thanks to narrow bezels. Much better camera and phone function, etc..

Even if that part of specs was actually correct... still, that whole page isn't very accurate or trustworthy. It also states that built-in flash is not supported while everybody knows the device does have led flash. Plus.. you look here: The official Chinese page of this device states that FM radio "zhichi". Zhichi means supported or to be supported.   • The speaker on X1 is better than in many other phones. Actually the best I have heard (haven't heard HTC speakers) except in iPad mini. Ringtones sound really good. Of course it is always better with an external speaker or headphones.

  • Haven't compared to S4 but in comparison with Note 3, Huawei's main camera is as good and the front camera significantly better. The device warms up a little bit during long netsurfing sessions and was quite hot after 4 hours of navigation with screen on. Generally, very cool device.

Phone cameras are still the basic point and shoot device but with time many vendors are packing features in the camera that may reqiure the user to familiarise themselves with. this phone has a camera rich in features and if only the user would take time to try and learn the settings and how they work, we would probably be reading less of this ''difficult to understand complains'' about how bad this or that is on a phone. if its the language used in the settings is what is not easy for you to understand, i suggest you look for someone who does to help you out. it may be that simple. Otherwise the camera on this phone works perfectly.

  • A very good device for a tablet with added phone capabilities and i even use it as a phone it do looks akward having it on your ears all around your face but for me it feels just like using a regular phone, it also fits on my jeans or shorts but loose ones only, i can use it with one hand even my hands are a bit small, very nice display and huge battery capacity it last for almost 2 days from moderate to heavy use while wifi, data, gps, sync are all enabled. The UI is ok but somtimes it lags but not that much that you wouldnt notice, im waiting for the update to kitkat but i think China's version already had the update and i can't find any custom roms for it probably because of its huawei own processor. There's one thing thats annoying to me is the location of the power button i always accidentally press it while holding it and its also becuase its easy to press but other than that everything is good very good...

  • Yes, it has been released, I have that version. Have rooted mine with KingoRoot and managed to make the navigation bar hideable also :). I just love this device

  • I would not say it is sluggish. Some minor lag exists but not disturbing. Moving around menus and home screens is very fast (using Nova launcher), surfing is as fast as with Note 3, just some pages lag a bit with Chrome. Dophin browser works great. Many Chinese phones and phablets are released with Android 4.2 this year, hopefully updates are coming..

  • The international version do not comes with the navigation feature. I believe Huawei must have missed out that feature somehow. Anyway according to Huawei, there is gonna be a OTA update over this in July ( in Singapore ) I am not too sure whether they will have it release in Europe. I hope they do. Anyway you can download Softkeys Ninja from google play store to have it to work for now. Hope the above helps.

  • But the European version does not have the "Navigation bar" selection in the smart assistance settings. The only way is to root and install Auto hide soft keys app. I tried this but the app doesn't work properly. It hides the bar but every time you turn the device to horizontal position or to vertical, it crashes the launcher and gives a message: "UI stopped". Irritating. Otherwise I love this phablet. I ordered also the Coolpad 9976a, will be interested to compare.

All good but unfortunately some apps are became incompatible though I have installed those previously (google+, google search, westpack bank etc�) and failed to root by Root Genius. Display icons and fonts became bit bigger then in EMUI 2.0.

  • Had the Mediapad X1 for a week now and I am VERY satisfied with it. Just one issue: in the European version there is no possibility to hide the navigation bar. Yet all videos and pics of the X1 show that there is a tiny arrow where the user can hide the bar. I really want this feature because the bar makes the display actually smaller and it would be nice to swipe it away when surfing etc.

  • You are correct about warranty, Huawei offers little or no support for the products they sell.

  • I have mentioned only Chinees company not Korean or any other countries. All Apple, Sony�etc. many phones are made in China but quality is controlled by those companies.

  • I had just bought the OTG adapter and the other end is a standard USB port. Tried connecting to an external hard disk but doesn't work and it works on a thumb drive.

  • Friends, don�t buy this phone. I bought one TD-LTE (7D-503L) version from Aliexpress website (US$411). The company FLYBIT provided one year warranty but they are doing nothing when I found some areas touch sensor are not working only after 17days use. Now this phone is useless. I have tried to repair here in Sydney Australia and ready to pay but no one. If you face any problem, you are done, no one going to help you out. Not the company not Huawei or Aliexpress. So please stay away from Chinese Crap Companies.

  • For continue play games /watch movies /whatsaap, start from 9am to 11pm still have 20% BL, for normal use +2 hour movie + 2 hour games then can stand 2 days, if use battery saving mode in phone whatsaap /browse website then almost can last 3 days !! Full battery charging time is 2 hour 40 min. Whole night standby mode use only 1-2% of battery power, daytime 8 hour standby + make 20minute phone call + take some pictures use only 5 %. it battery performance is above most of smart phone/ average.

  • SAme here, This tab can use 64gb of SDcard, Just require 1 time format will do. After you have plug in, you will be notice an icon appear at the top of the notification, inform you to format it.

  • I bought a mediapad X1 today at Subang USJ15,come with free a 64GB class 10 micro sd card, firstly 1 insert it to X1 but couldn't read it, then try to format it with using X1 phone, finally sd card work after format !! i confirm X1 have show 64GB Sd card in storage setting, it's decteded the 64GB sd card! It can be save picture & movie in sd card with very fast speed.

  • I have the 4G version, i rooted it with kingo root and removed Chinese apps, also i believe you will face a problem in Facebook app as the default one needs to be uninstalled with root. did you try to connect it directly to TV with hdmi cable?

  • Do search Hafeez Centre thoroughly, they may have this tab, but it may be doubled the price. It's neither launched yet by the main Huawei provider there. But some shops do import some phones from China. So do search the place. Yes, it'll will work with all GSM carriers though. But for a better experience. For sure, it'll work best with Mobilink and Zong.
