Huawei P8max - User Reviews

  • I just updated last week, latest now DAV 703LC . I didn't able to use my huawei p8max for 6 months after I reset by factory default.

  • looking for used p8 max

  • I bought the International version of this P8MAX (DAV-701LV) in 2015 - there has NOT BEEN AN UPDATE EVER SINCE RELEASE !!!!! This was my first Huawei phone and will be my last - as can be seen by my username, I support Xiaomi now. Huawei has burnt all bridges to this customer. Does anyone know how to hack an update to this phone ? I'm sitting on the ancient Lollipop 5.1.1

  • I loved this phone until I lost all google services. Now just a paper weight.

  • Its one of the few bonafide 16/9 screen. biggest weaknesses is the age and a GPU that already at released was not high-end worthy.. but the quality hence 2015 model-era, is really good, with that metalbuild and extreme thinformfactor in 6mm and something and huge batteries.. feel like a big thin piece of metal and that 16/9 screen really shines in media.

  • And the latest update has restored Google services! My lovely Huawei P8 Max is back in service!

  • The bezels is what makes it so much bigger

  • Actually, I threw in the towel tonight and ordered the Galaxy Note 9 512GB. I think the screen will be fine and I know there won't be any problems with band support, Google services or customer service. Lost contacts or any data really, is not acceptable with the high quality devices available these days.

  • You're not the only one. I'm really frustrated at Huawei. A lot of people online had same issues. I tried everything such as reset to factory, or install new ROM. I'm shopping for a new phone now in a hurry. I will consider not to get a Huawei China phone. I just found that all my years of Google Contacts were not updated in Google; I didn't know that I supposed to install Google Contact Sync to get auto sync. I don't need to do this in other Android phone. It is too late for me, since I did a factory reset and lost all stored contacts. I was considering to get newly-released Huawei Honor 8x max or Xiaomi MI Max 3 (6.9 inch phone).

  • I updated my DAV-703 (international version) from EMUI 4 to EMUI 4.0.3 and now all Google services are blocked. Apparently, the Chinese version got pushed out to the international versions and our devices got clobbered. After checking XDA threads, seems if you root the device and put the previous rom on you're good to go. Really loved this phone but rather useless now... Hoping Huawei pushes a fix out soon.

  • Yes ,you can.

  • This phone look cool

  • I too loved my P8 Max... but it got damaged beyond repair. Best upgrade was Huawei Honor Note 8 - which I LOVE... only *very* slightly smaller screen, but faster and better looking. Very good replacement. I bought in China and installed the Google apps myself - very easy.

  • I love my P8 to bits... nearly 3 years old but wouldn't upgrade my pgablet for anything at the moment! BUT.... Android upgrade/update...... PLEASE HUAWEI!!

  • HUAWEI come on!!! Release new update soon!

  • When will update available?

  • One of my favourite phones. Still working great 2,5yars later. Battery strong as horse, 2 days easy. Using it on daily basis. Just ordered new flipcase as I love it, old one has worn but protected the phone well, not a single scratch. I wish Huawei or HTC have manufactured new 6,8" - 7" device. Bezel less.... Have bought Mate 10 pro and OPO 5t, not impressed at all. 18:9 screen ratio is joke.

  • Huawei P8max seems to have no more update. So sad.

  • I've updated my firmware to Android 6, my P8 MAX functioning even better. I have to do it manually, hence there is no official update for EU. Anyone knows any rumour about new version of this phone?

  • Where do you live, what region? I did't receive any update from 5.1. Thank you!

  • I am from Turkey. Huawei Turkey does not sell P8max. So don't support me. So I ask to you: I purchased a Huawei P8max. My brightness mode is "auto". But when i am outside, and on sunny days, i unlock the phone, but can't see the display 4-5 seconds because of sunlight. I think the brightness must increase step by step. But on my device I wait 4-5 seconds . And then I can see the display in a sudden way. For example, I'm am outside and someone is calling me, i open the phone but can't see who is calling me. Waiting 4-5 seconds:( Auto brightness mode is very slow😢. Is the problem device or Android 5? And what is the solution? May i wait Marshmallow update? Or will never change this situation?

  • Thanks dude... I decided to buy this p8max and also keep the iPhone 6s plus.. I shall sell it later

  • p8 max is half price of iphone 6s plus 32 here. i think it is stupid to change it for iphone 6s 32 plus.

  • Is there notifications light..? Is it wise to exchange iphone 6s plus 16gb with this phone.. I dont enjoy iphone; its restricted..Thanks in advance

  • is this compatible with galaxy gear S2 ?

  • Does this phone come with fingerprint sensor? If not then this is really a major drawback. I wanted to upgrade from mate 7 to p8 max but no need since mate 7 has fingerprint sensor.

  • @Roy Marlin: Mine was auto updated OTA in November 2016. New York City, USA. Version 6.0

  • Any news on updates to Android 6 or better for 701

  • i hate huawei ui nice looking that's it

  • It did not work.my device is a middle east device. Try to update. It might work for you. Chech your local huwei website to downlid it. If its not avilable then check other reagons. I download mine from the huwaei of Saudi Arabia.

  • Did it worked for you? Updating the Android 6 that you download from Huawei website onto your P8Max? Would appreciate if you can provide the link to Huawei website where you download the Android 6.

  • For people asking about android 6. The phone when check for update nothing will come. But by mistake i visited the offical huawei website and found the android 6 is avilable for download for p8max. I am downloading now. Strange that it isnt coming auto update.

  • Yes it works

  • Nice . ... how About Vkworld T1 plus ?

  • Wrong - not all P8 Max phones have the Chinese ROM. I bought mine off eBay from a supplier in the USA, and it has the international ROM - English by default. So yes, try to get the model DAV-701L, this is the international, unlocked, English version, and it will work perfectly on the USA networks, and other GSM networks worldwide - I have used mine in the UK, and also in South Africa. If you have the Chinese ROM, not to worry, there are youtube clips on how to get it back to English International.

  • Hi, I found new P8 Max with great price, for who used it long time, is it good phone ?

  • Can anyone please tell that this phone will work for Reliance JIO SIM in india?

  • it can work well but it is strictly for the Chinese market. it means some apps will never change to English. for example, the music and video apps. you can download all music and videos free but need to know some Chinese. however, great phone with th best battery. i am using it outside china.

  • Hi fox is their un update to 6.

  • Is this phone reliable in the United States?

  • All the updates did not change the languages. upped to 5.1.1 and then to 6.0 this morning.

  • got P8Max yesterday. Finished updating to 5.1.1 and 6.0 just now, Don't notice anything wrong. I didn't know 7.0 was released a long time ago.

  • huawei very bad company in updating software, still no update for p8 max.

  • my browser is not working properly with mobile data even uc browser too can any one suggest me what to do

  • you have to download playstore, framework and services all together.if you install only playstore it will cause force close

  • Just restore to factory setting or install the full GAPPS

  • hello. i jus bought p8max but i have problems with google play store. i installed the google play store apps, and opened it and the apps shut off itself. i saw same question like this facing in this community too but nobody answered those question. do anyone here knew how to deal with this? thanks in advance

  • I have had this phone for almost a year and love it. The camera is a bit disappointing which is why I just ordered the xperia xa ultra. Crossing fingers the camera is as good as they claim.

  • Huawei P8max Simply The Best

  • How do I read the replys???

  • When I call someone they can't hear me BT I can hear them can something be done?

  • So what happened? Did the 703 get the OTA update recently? Does everything work well etc?

  • Updated to Android version 6 and now the back key and home key do not work. In the display about devise CPU is shown as unknown. even in the settings many features are absent. battery get exhausted very fast. google apps are not working well. when I open the contacts the phone goes off. every now and then phn gets restarted. its really disappointing to see the update is not working well with my p8max.

  • no my google apps work perfectly for your second problem we have same for iphone here not huawei. we have to put +98 infront of every numbers in contact for your google maybe you have bought it with chinese rom then they installed google apps on it.mine is global rom

  • I'm having some serious problems with mine! My Google apps only work half the time? Is anyone else experiencing this? Also have to go through my contacts of 3 to 5 hundred and put a +1 in front of their numbers? Spoke with Huawei customer support and they told me there isn't anything they can do? I paid almost $500 for my phone sure hope someone can help me with these issues? Thanks and God Bless!

  • im in middle east and yet no update.

  • I think your autofocus has problems as mine is really good

  • my p8 camera is taking blurry pictures/videos. When I move the camera around, to take pic/video, it shows clear picture on the screen. But as soon as I stop moving phone around, the picture becomes a bit blur. The same thing is happening with video. So the final image after click/shoot is blurry. It used to work nicely earlier but the issue suddenly appeared couple of weeks ago. Is there any solution to fix this ?

  • Just got the mm update! Hopefully everyone else will get it soon

  • thanks for reply

  • Sure thing: DAV-703LC233B211 EMUI: 4.0

  • can u tell me what is your Mobile new build number after last update? u can find in: settings > About phone

  • same question

  • So is 701l getting update too or?

  • No issues at all. The whole process was smooth and took about 35 mins total. The build is 6.0 rather than 6.0.1 but it's still working well. The only thing that makes me sad is that I can't purchase the new themes since I'm not within region (the free themes are still nice though!).

  • Does anyone know when mm will come for the 701L version

  • did u face any issues after this update?

  • Just got the 6.0 firmware OTA update this evening!

  • Go to phone manager icon on the phone Then background intensive apps Then protected apps Then click on facebook messenger on Cause when it's off and when u close the screen, the app is also closed

  • By the way I found the camera much more better than samsung j5.

  • I agree. 2.5 days of battery only when you don't use the phone. Otherwise just 1.5 day and not more.

  • Nice phone But I don't agree with 2 days battery, which Huawei claims. In normal use, some internet, some youtube it won't take longer than 1.5 day. Now my battery is 38%, and it says 11 hours is remaining... very less...

  • Can you advice me where to buy at that price

  • Very nice and fast phone. Just wonder when the system will be upgraded to mashmarrow.

  • Decided two months ago to purchase nr2..was an 32GB titanium grey and it cost 293US shipped + an huawei org smart-dotcover to "12.5US shipped" in white. and for 305.5US shipped, you certainly get a lot of high-end feel, thats for sure. the first i purchased was around a year ago an cost 490US shipped from Banggod on 12%coupon, but it was the premium model with browncover an premium headphones. btw guys have ind mind that there are an 2 year subscription included with p8max Huawei cloud service, so you get an 165GB cloud storage.. it works like an charm on hicloud, on the phone, but having problems finding acces from other products, then the phones itself. it seems only the 701 international version got that LTEband20 used in EU and US, so both of ours, that are 703L Silver and titanium grey dont conntect on 4G on the provider i checked at... but its okay since the 3G is very high in my area and on download ewen higher then what another 4G item could manage.and the wifi seems fast, checked the 5ghz conntection on an old netgear wndr4300 router and here it manage around 130mb/s on down and up on wifi. (not bad) an little notice that most dont know, is that this original smartdotcover is actually touch sensible, so when you getting an call, you can svipe on the cover. (it seems there are some plsticfillings in the dots that makes the screen take notice when your touching the cover when reciving an call. overall an impressive phone and partically the last titanium grey i purchased for my mom ref 60year old' for relative little money when you have in mind the inner value and finish.. Linus L _ checked, and it seems it could be the little brohter, since it stated is an nano sim the bottom socket on picture and menu says that the bottom socket is micro-sim in the p8max,, I got dual symbols at top, but likely its 2G + 4G at same time.. if its dual 4G at same time, That i dont know.

  • I love this phone.. Nice huawie your the best!!!!

  • I love this phone.. Nice huawie your the best!!!!

  • Can it do voice dictation with or without an app. Can you load your address book from the SIM card

  • Can it do voice dictation with or without an app. Can you load your address book from the SIM card

  • This is a good and very nice phone. But the USB port is top on this phone. If this USB port is bottom this phone so its looking very very good.

  • The P8 Max, How the the phone work in Australia like the 4G lite. So anybody in Australia that has the P8 Max please do a review for me.

  • Only on paper, and maybe for advanced gamers. In everyday usage it is fast as it needs to be. 8 core 935 CPU is more than adequate.

  • Great phone. I had Galaxy Note 3, and switched for a larger screen. P8 Max is high quality and beautiful peace of hardware. Big screen for book reading, huge battery, fast front camera and CPU, strong WiFi and GSM signal. I have over 50 apps on it and both RAM and the storage are more than adequate. After few days size is not a problem ast all. No need to root the phone since there are very granular advanced settings in the stock ROM. Android 6 will be available by the end of May.

  • big problem is wight

  • will this phone work on Verizon towers at all

  • I have this problem too. notifications for facebook messenger only happen sometimes... is there a way to change the settings?

  • Great phone... luv it. one problem though... How do I get facebook messenger and skype notifications with the screen off and cover closed? anyone know?

  • Hi, why would you need to change the imei? If the phone was stolen/blocked by a carrier, that would be the only reason to change the imei.

  • Only handful of manufacturers are making dual active Sim because advantages are very limited. Nowadays, the functionality of single active sim as good as dual active. One to lookout for is both sims are 3G and 4G and their selective bands. Dual active sims tend to acquire enormous amount of battery power compared to single.

  • Dual sim activ

  • You need you phone fixed, mine charge fully in around d 1.5-2 hours

  • I got this phone about 5 months ago and the experience is better than expected to have switched from Samsung Note4. I needed a bigger screen phone for reading and running real-time monitoring applications and it seems doing it without a flow. 1. Battery life is great and charging very fast until 80% and slows down 2. Battery consumption is also good compared to the screen size and resolution 3. Along with the second sim, slim memory card can be inserted If one used to Galaxy type control and fingerprint on the bottom of the phone it can take a while to get used to it. The micro charger pin is located on the top of the phone, some people may find it difficult. for the screen size, its extremely compact phone and after a while it becomes a norm. Biggest advantage is that overall functionality compared with the price best value for money.

  • Damn ! ---- looks like the bottom sim tray is micro sim only.... Guess I can use one of those adaptor things hey?

  • Thanks mate.. You sure that pic is from this phone and not the smaller P8 dual?

  • the SD card take the nano sim slot so your sim have to be a micro sim not nano

  • look in settings, on danish language its in "bevægelsesstyring" and the second last feature in that. the "bevægelsesstyring" is in the smarthelp catogory under "stemmeopvågning" and above "navigatingsline".. the feaures is listed in danish on mine, but you should could find it with these info.. and the double tap feauture works great.. btw under cam-features there is also an sound feature that can be activated on top, and I love that feature so i dont need to touch to take an picture, and connect to talkband b2 to take an picture.. great feature, and same with instructor-mode that also works quite well, with very little lag to other phones.. just an shame that its limited to 720p.. come on Huawei that should be able to firmware it up to FHD.. also cherise the info button in pictures, that really give me an as an camera-rookie the info that i need to get an settings-overview amongst the pictures.. thinking about purchasing one more... i got the silver 64gb version with premium headphones (suppringsinly good headphones from an follower-piece in an mobile) and there where also an great smartcover in brown.,. but the next one i will purchase to my mom, since she love that size for her needs, but Im familiar that the 32gb version will not have that cover or those premium-headphones but an cheaper version headphones without plasticcase, but is there other factors on the 32GB version i shall have in mind, or is that all the difference,.. what about the 701 versus the 703 version, the 701 should be the international version will that edition support 4g here in Denmark, since the 703 have problems on the LTE band here and same in US where its also comes short on most of the LTE bands, but what about 701 will that tolerate LTE where the DAV703 wont and any other difference between the 701 vs 703..? Btw the cam in low light is amazing, and the FHD panel used in the p8 max is some of the best i have seen on LCD. simply quite stunningly this panel looks from an 6.8 FHD panel, and cudos to Huawei to priotise an quality fhd panel instead of an mediocre 1.5k or 2k panel in pursuing the specs.... an FHD panel is ideel in the world of Android, and partically when it comes across looking like this.

  • some says p8max has no lte please tell

  • for the 4360mah a little over 2 hours where 95% of the charge is going on in the 2 amp range

  • No it can be used with dual sims, where 1 is simslot and 1 is nano simslot...or you can just have it 1 simslot and use the other for sd card slot...

  • This phone looks awesome and I want one... But have a question, hopefully someone can help... With the sims... can I run this phone one 1 Nano sim only? Can I have it running with a nano sim and micro SD card? or is the micro sd card only possible with micro sim?

  • Just compair :) ill did buy an mediapad x2 simular but cost less . working for a big telecom provider . huawei hardly comes back , good phones

The box was lovely good presentation and came with a flip cover which is great , i got it from wondamobile who are very good to buy from .From my first charge i got 3 days usage !!! nice feel to the phone , all metal and feels top end , good photos again , unlike the experia , using the internet fast and easy , smooth , easy transfer of my contacts with my google account , have not done my photos yet but i can use bluetooth i suppose .The phone does come with a lot of chinese bloatware but its no big deal , also cant seem to get gmail notifications on the home page , i only can get them when i pull down the top bar , can anybody advise ?But i am still happy with it , a great sized phone , my friends are amazed by it , so if you are thinking of getting it you should .

  • I bought it yesterday, and its very good , battery life is amazing, good camera, nice audio, good performance(am not a gamer, I just use it for social media, watching videos) just right size for a tablet/phablet... with very good metal design

  • Great phone, it is very useful to share information an work, because every one can see the imagen, good camera an great wifi boost.

  • Huawei P8 Max has got Phone Storage Capacity - 8 GB but when connected to laptop through USB, it shows only 1 GB sixe in Laptop. Please give inputs to sort this issue.

  • I like this phone quite a bit, but it is so big I have to put it in my glovebox in my car. The phone has a nice camera and has an impressive amount of internal memory and has 3 GB of RAM. This phone is great in my everyday life when I use it.

  • Yes i have the same problem.the solution is looking for refresh contact or synch contact in whatsapp then everything will be ok.

  • I am facing issues in syncing phone contacts with watsapp. I have stored contacts with appropriate numbers from watsapp. But still watsapp only shows numbers and doesn't seem to be in sync with my contact list. Anyone faced same issue? or any recommendations to sort this out ?

  • I have been using this for a week now, and gotta say its AWESOME. When I opened the box and saw the phone for the first time, I was like, this is huuuuuuuge. (I coudnt find even a display piece in Singapore before getting my own from China). After using it for a week, my S4 seems like a child's toy compared to p8 max. Enjoyed watching youtube vids, playing games and other stuff on this. Although some flaws but ...Incredible !

  • how can i activate double tap?

  • Good day, To install Finnish, you need to download and install a firmware containing finnish language :( You can watch youtube movies on "how to install" firmwares. But i dont recommend burning any ROMs to your phone (You may not be able to recover your device if something goes wrong).

  • Hi.. Do you know how to can added the Finnish language p8 max phone..the menu does not exist

  • Hi.. Do you know how to can added the Finnish language p8 max phone..the menu does not exist

  • Its a good device. UI does not smoothly integrate other apps. If you have one contact with multi numbers WhatsApp are not shown in the contact. Cannot access Facebook from notification pull down..

  • Settings...motion control...double touch...

  • Besides google play apk, you need to also install google services apk...

  • Slightly better battery management...

  • Yes, this phone work at Singapore. I am using it.

  • Where can one buy this phone in Singapore ? Does it work with Starhub 4G ?

  • Me too, I have this problem. HELP !!!!!

  • yes is working with bell and rogers, 3g sometimes 4g no LTE

  • I love this phone but I have a problem with Google store. I installed the APK file and when i want to download a game or something, it tels me that there is a problem with the server, I go to settings and i clear data on Google Play store, Download mamager and Goofle Framenetwork or something like this and is working then but after 30 min or so, when i open the google store, it opens for a second then it disapear, so is not loading no more and I dont get the emails if any come in, unless i open the email program then it refreshes. Also with my Android Wear watch is also stops working and is all happening at the same time, since the Google Store app stops to work. so is something with Synking or so. Did anyone seen this before and got a fix for it?

  • I didn't get update to 6.0. Can I manually do it?? Anyway??

  • How you activate double tap i cant find it

  • Hi. My p8 max has many problems Almost all apps notifications doesn't work I have to turn on what's app manually to see if there is messages When I got message from unknown number it is blocked by harassment filter &if I try to restore it to phone messages it disappears I'm very very disappointed

  • Is it noticeably faster? I might do it later today.

  • nevermind guys it was IP conflict between Laptop & the phone ^_^ thanks in advance

  • Hello guys , i have a problem i'm not sure if it's phone problem or my connection , my wifi was working normally yesterday but today when i tried to connect it connects but the network unavalible like i can't use internet although it's connected to the Wi-Fi and the other phones working , there was problem with laptop also , when i connect my phone to Wi-Fi it works for like 30sec~1min then it says unavailable network , so what u guys think about it is it phone problem or my router ?

  • Hurah! My p8max just got an upgrade to 6.0...

  • You are correct.

  • American and Chinese 4G LTE bandwidths are different from the rest of the world. Blame your service providers, not the phone makers. AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile want you to buy their house brand of phones.

  • Why wasn't this phone made to work on American 4 g lte networks it's a great phone but useless to American networks how stupid of them to make this beast of a phone limited to only certain networks what a waste.

  • Which is good to use mate7or p8max??

  • memory card slot is on sim slot too?

  • Where did You buy this phone in Indonesia ? Or You buy online from abroad. I realy love this phone. Now, I am user Huawei Ascend Mate for more than two years and never issues.

  • How do you compare the camera to Ultra.

  • A 32GB model has just been released. Saw it available for £329 on wondamobile so it is around £20 cheaper than the 64GB. Everything else are the same except the ROM. I wonder would admin add it to the specs?

  • I am user of Huawei P8lite, P8, P8max....Plite 2GB RAM NFC, P8 3GB NFC but Huawei forgot to add NFC chip in P8max ;) and 4GB RAM...

  • I am user of Huawei P8 and Huawei P8max....but Huawei forgot to add NFC chip in P8max ;) and 4GB RAM

  • can someone tell me will this phone work in usa sorry 4 stupid ??

  • i am an ascend mate 7 and p8 max owner and i can say that both phones meet all expectations especially the p8 max with now with both phones on android 5.1.1 and double tap to wake on p8 max its a wow phone 2 day on heavy use with both phones better than any other phones

  • Obvious SEO farming is obvious... seriously, this guy even under-scores the keywords.

  • I'm also an owner of fantastic P8max.....bought via eBay/local seller and this seller has kindly to installed google_PlayStore for free since the device's app was in Chinese! I could register for Huawei_Gold Club privilege and download apps.....their music/video app was mainly in Chinese but you may find some Billboard hits and also responding via search category. Sounds was great in hd without activate equalizer, which only do better with bluetooth speaker. Big device for big sound.........unlike my previous Xperia Z Ultra! I just miss the smart finger_scan on this unlike Mate S model, but the free flip cover make it so practical & 'hides' the hugeness of P8max. I find myself rarely use gesture of knock_twice to wake up screen with this cover. Screen capture was also using the same trick and it's perfect everytime! Again, I'm highly recommend P8max though initially you may not liking the company name! Find more comments on YouTube!

  • Yes...bought this superb phablet to replaced my Xperia Ultra, after reading/watching its good reviews here and on YouTube! I'm a lover of 6"plus devices now...the smallest's my iPhone 6 Plus. Such good bargain buying @ eBay_local seller with free magnetic cover & free postage too! I braved myself of buying China_made device and frankly, I didn't even liking the name Huawei! Guess it sounds more nicer just like HTC or Lenovo.....but I didn't regret of buying! This device was a delight to hold, smooth running though you need times to get familiar. Quite similar with my previous Oppo_Find7...and this seller has installed Google PlayStore since its AppCenter was in Chinese! I strongly recommend P8 Max to whoever likes bigger devices!

  • i got the phone , the middle east version doesn't have flip cover , but the phone is so good , i love it's screen and performance , it's running well with games , doesn't get lag so far , i recommend that phone :)

  • I have huawei p8 max buyed. But I cant register on huawei app center, cant buy stuff on googleplay,.how fix this problem?

  • I have huawei max in Shangai buyed. And has a problem with server region I cant registered on Huawei app center, cloud, I cant over google ply stuff buy. Who knows how I can taht problem fix?

  • really amazing phone the metal design quality & finishing is fantastic........ I recommend this phablet for heavy users as it has huge battery! well done Huawei :)

  • yea anyway i bought one online awhile ago , it should arrive soon , but i wanted the original case of Huawei :)

  • Holy shit that screen is huge, how can you even call it a phone at this point.

  • Not sure but my DAV-703L does.

  • in middle east, sorry to say but there is NO magnetic cover bought mine in extra store

  • does P8 max (701L) include huawei magntic cover?

  • 4-months report/review from me - got it back in July at Wonda Mobile: I paid over £500 for it back then! The phone came unlocked but not rooted with Google Play, Gmail, Contact, Map and Calendar. I kept receiving all updates from Huawei. The phone is still reasonably fast, not Note-5-fast, but good enough. With Android you have to get used to killing background apps regularly to keep it cool and smooth. I do not play 3D games with it often, but it handled WOT: Blitz well. Screen resolution is fine though you can see that it isn't 2K. Its camera is the weakest link - I expect more from a mid-2015 premium device. Not impressive under low-light condition. The metal body still looks new, the side bezel is not as smoothly finished as my iPhone 6S but it is far more scratch-resistance. I even dropped it several times on hardwood floor. The paint has come off a little inside the USB socket. The sim slot has become a little loose, but it still lines up perfectly with the body. It is not my main phone so the 4000-something mAh battery lasts forever for me. Overall, it is still the best big smartphone or Z Ultra replacement. I may get the Mate 8 around Easter to replace it. Maybe not worth £500 but the current price is great.

  • I ordered it here: Was the cheapest could find. According to DHL it should arrive tomorrow and if that happens that would mean I received it within 6 days of ordering. Cheers!!

  • Why it was not yet launched in India.I want to buy it,which is the best place to buy?.guys please suggest.

  • Got my phone (703 version) for 3 months now: Pros: * superb battery life...no need to carry an extra powerbank * 64g storage...and i have added an extra 64g sd card...easy to watch series or movies while sitting on the train or bus * double tap to wake up screen (like my good ol nokia) ...got this with a recent update last week * screen size...so easy to watch my mails or browsing webs * night mode camera: very useful if you have a steady hand * robust and solid build: has dropped my phone already 3 times but no issues * very good screen clarity...although useless in the sun (like many other phones) * very good reception and fast 4g lte * no lag...and minimal bloatware Cons: * no fingerscan: but i have double tap to wake which is ok with me * camera is not top range, but still more than decent...night mode is superb * no nfc: but i have never had a need for it...bluetooth is ok with me... * phone is slippy: dropped it many times in the beginning but an additonal plastic cover can solve this All in all my best phone so far, and i would not hesitate to buy another phone if this phone got stolen. I have used samsung (up to note3) in the past.

  • The only reason why you'd like to buy this phone is its massive battery life. Multitasking: Doesn't come closer to what you'd get with 'Galaxy Notes' Software updates: Forget it Weight: Heavy like hell Build quality: Great.

  • I can't creat new page in my Huawei P8 Max, any one can help please !!!

  • can somebody advise me if the phone is dual led camera flash or single ? Spec return with 2 camera led flash but my phone only single led flash while i taking camera/ video shot..and also torch... Any idea to check the led if it is functioning well ? Please advise...

  • This must be a joke...

  • How did you manage to do that !!!

  • You mean no solution to this issue

  • I have installed ios 9 and wp 8 on this. Now i can choose android, ios or wp on boot

  • Yes, this happened to my P8 Max too This is common problem with Huawei phones after I searched around the net. Hope can solve in Android 6.0

  • Notifications of many apps aren't shown or displayed at all in spite of adjusting the settings correctly. Is anyone having same issue in P8 Max ?! Hopefully you answer my question.

  • Hello Can somebody tell me something about using the P8 Max in Germany? What model would be best for German using, 701, 702 or 703? In case of the Mediapad X2 the told me I shoud buy the 701. In what colors can I get a P8 Max with 64 Gb RAM. Sometimes you find Postings, that only the golden has 64 Gb.

  • Tested In Indonesia, Running well

  • Hi, Go to Settings, Language and Input. The icon is a keyboard image. ScottyJavea

  • How to change from Chinese software on my P8max.

  • btw this is where i bought my phone from, i swear i dont own the store :D good luck and let me know how it goes, the store is also based in montreal.

  • I live in montreal and bought it to work in canada works perfect with rogers even 4g 3g etc... no problems , you go online and download google play and thats it , ask any question you like and ill try to answer it :) itll be good to see another p8 max in canada :)

  • It doesn't have NFC. Where do you need it anyway? I have never used NFC so far..

  • zomlong-trading in ebay. Shipped from Hong Kong to UK 4 days door to door.

  • The P8 Max has NFC?

  • If you want a good battery and a decent camera, the P8max is the one. Of course you must be a friend of huge displays..

  • The lack of NFC is a reason that prevents the P8 Max and OnePlus2 from being real flagships. NFC is back on the Huawei Mate S and even the mid-range Honor7i.

  • This seems strange to me. I got mine from Wonda Mobile about 2 months ago and a dotted book-flip leather sleeve was included in its big and heavy plastic box. The whole box was DESIGNED to store the phone plus a sleeve cover. The phone is the Chinese version but unlocked and had Google Play installed. It works with the 4G of EE in the UK perfectly.

  • hello huawei users... kindly guide me which phone is worth to buy ? i need a good battery and a good camera.. should i buy huawei p8 max? or should i wait for Mate s or mate 8? thanx

  • Accessories available with P8 max when I opened the box were charger with USB cable and hands free only. No coverflip..

  • Accessories available with P8 max when I opened the bow were charger with USB cable and hands free only. No cover or flip..

  • Dear Dr. Naseer please would like to confirm me box contents / package p8 max

  • I have this phone, and IT HAS NO NFC. It's sad but true.

  • Jakob, check vopmart.com. Got it from there to Finland with 590 dollars (VAT not included). I'm super happy with the device, really recommend it. It beats all other phones I have had (Galaxy Notes, iPhones, Huawei Mate 7, Mediapad X1, etc, etc) and comes with a tablet size, still compact, dual SIM..

  • Was just travelling in Croatia and P8max served perfectly as a camera, music box, Email and net surfboard, etc... And the battery life is extraordinary!!

  • Ordering was easy, paid with PayPal. Communication was guick and smooth and got the device in week. The phone has Finnish language installed, no extra downloads needed. I can really recommend this device, it just gets better and better, everything works really well.

  • hi all is p8maxx available in gauteng south africa? i would really like to have the device its quite awesome...

  • So the finnish language was in the setups and you didn't have to download anything? I'm about to order huawei p8 max from vopmart to Finland, was the ordering easy or hard to do?

  • It's a great phone and I love it. It's the first time I don't have to choose between travelling with one or two devices (or more) and which one. I read a lot and ebooks and newspapers are OK on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4, but magazines and comic books look much better on my Galaxy Tab 7. Also, I usually need a second smartphone to use a local SIM card. With my new Huawei P8 Max, it's all there : dual SIM card and extra large screen. I'll be honest, I have a better screen on my Galaxy Note and overall it is better device than my P8 Max, but guess what, I have more fun using the P8 Max. It's as close as it gets to iOS on Android, it makes great pictures, watching videos or television and reading is a treat and I don't need a tablet anymore, even professionally. About its size, men tend to think they look ridiculous with such a big boy while making calls, but they should look at girls' face while they do, all they will see is smiles and envy. The P8 Max is my favourite smartphone so far and I've had many of them, from iPhones to Galaxy Notes, and I highly recommend it.

  • If you want to use it while charging, no choice... It's a big boy, you know.

  • Few P8 max pros compare to Mate 7: 1. Up to date model. 2. Night shoot superb. 3. Lolipop version is a bit more intelligent. 4. Text size just perfect when browse facebook, not like Mate 7, a bit weird, too big, wasted screen space. 5. No minor lag especially turn from vertical to horizontal. 6. No issue to enlarge photo when viewing photo. 7. Have voice wake up screen. 8. Have 2 window function. 9. Screen size is perfect maximum that still can hold nicely in hand. 10. Will not auto play music by itself when using given smart case. 11. Looks so outstanding and attract others eye ball.

  • strongest offer on the Huawei P8 Max atm. shipped to Scandinavia/Denmark. ? The retail price here in nothern europe is pretty high and since it doesnt come to Denmark, it useally only import-alternatives. The hands-on approach indicates an retail price at 649 for the 64gb version .. and in sweden it was stated to cost 690 dollars.. I would love to hear what you guys around the world had pay for your purchases? sofare it seems to be around 550dollars shipped from somewhere in Chinaland that seems to be amongst the most attractive, if you dont wanne take an chance on some doubtfull seller on AliExpress without merits. strongest shipped offer atm from a trustworthy seller in China or another place?.

  • Great info can you tell me why P8max was better in precise terms then mate7 sir can you corroborate

  • I got a flip case with my P8max but I'm not using it. This phone can be used without cover, it's not as slippery as IPhone 6+ and the screen won't scratch. I actually never like to hide the high quality phones but use them nude. (the phone, not me) Couldn't be more satisfied, my P8max is perfect and works like a charm. I guess I'm still the only one using this device in Finland. :D

  • well if my phone has corning gorilla glass 3. screen protector would be useless

  • Has anyone ordered this device to Canada? Does it play well/seamlessly with Rogers / Bell / Telus? Where did you order/purchase/shipped from? Thanks! -Tim

  • You can filnd all accessories of P8 Max at Vopmart.com . I've purchased my own device, the cover and the secreen protector from this online reseller. I recommend them.

  • I have purchased the device and once I opened the package I have figured out that there is no protection cover packed with the phone. I have then researched to find that it is a P8 Max but DAV-701L and that there are 3 models of the P8 Max! My device is the GLD version and I wonder why Huawei has chosen to discriminate between devices?! Where on earth shall I find a cover now! The device is big which is good with very fine design that makes easy to slip from hand. With no protection cover included in the package the device is simply useless. Thank you Huawei!

  • One Question to ask, kindly answer me if anyone knows,, can you tell me LTE bands supported by this specific DAV-701L model of P8max.?

  • One thing i forgot to mention is that i got 5.1.1 Lolipop Box packed and Its Model is Huawei P8max DAV-701L

  • Yesterday, i bought this cell in Pakistan.. Excellent cellphone. 1. It supports 4GLTE on both Zong and Warid networks on both Sim, I mean Dual Sim 4GLTE. When one SIM card On 4G, other would be on 2G. While i was using, i got call on SIM one, was using 4G on ther sim, i got the call and data did not interrupted on data sim so both active at same time, 4G speed is excellent. in between 4G and LTE are same, some mobile show 4G and some LTE sign. 2. SIM card 1 is Micro SIM and SIM 2 is Nano SIM, Nano SIM or SD card can be used in same slot 3. 64 GB ROM and 3GB RAM, 4. Display excellent,. 5. Important thing, signal and data reception excellent, Same place at my clinic, i used SAMSUNG A 5 and Samsung S4 9515,. there was no 4G reception but today , it was getting 4G signals at same place. 6. Excellent battery timing.. Overall it is an excellent phone,, camera is very good but not excellent. i Would give 9.5/10.

  • Larger phones should have 2 charging ports or 1 port and cordless charging.

  • Use iphone and Note before, just switch from Mate 7 to P8 max. P8 max, everything just fit my needs, perfect phone. Screen size 5/5. Battery size 5/5. Night shoot 5/5. Sound 5/5. Free flip case 5/5. Screen color and clarity 5/5. Appearance 5/5. Camera 4.5/5. UI 4/5. Conclusion: Great phone, highly recommended.

  • I really hate the charging plug on the top of the phone

  • Hi, I've bought it form vopmart.com according to Pate64's advice. You can check the website and communicate with them.

  • Has anyone bought the Huawei P8max from an honest reseller and shipped it to the USA? can you provide the website?

  • Hi, you can ask in Axiom, they may have information about it. I live in Qatar and order it from online reseller.

  • Salam aziz ...my name is Salah & i am intrested buying.. i would contact you to discuss the issue . Take care

  • Hi, actually I'm in Qatar and secondly I've ordered a new P8 Max and by chance it's sliver color. Anyway, thanks for your offer.

  • Hey bassam if you are in jeddah I could hook you up with a silver P8 max if you want. So far I'm happy with my device the problem is though it doesn't fit comfortably in my work uniform, I am contemplating selling it.

  • Not exactly water-proof, but there is a nano-coating protecting against splashes, etc.

  • Internet is full of instructions, e.g: I think all the apps from the google account should be loading then automatically. I however had to download my apps manually, because had been away from Android some time :) Soover says: "yes you can sync contacts normally, once you download google play and sign in with your gmail account all sync options work perfectly , just like a regular android phone"

  • Only google play store you had to install or all google apps ?! And how we can install google play store of it's not pre-installed on the device ?! Thanks

  • IS this water proof?

  • Vopmart's P8max was installed with all Android languages, also Finnish. All I had to do was to install Google play store to get all apps I wanted.

  • It's safe, reliable and quick. They answered to all questions fast and I got my Huawei P8 Max in one week from the order. Recommend them.

  • Hi, I contacted vopmart.com and they informed me that the device is supporting Arabic language with no need to install any additional package. So my question is this website safe or not as per your dealing with them ?) Thanks

  • Thanks for your reply, I've tried jodapado and it's not available at the moment, but it's available in aliexpress.com . Again my concern is to buy it from a website like aliexpress and don't find the Arabic package installed on the device.

  • I ordered mine from vopmart and can recommend the shop.

  • Three weeks gone with the P8max and here are some points: Internet: One of the fastest surfboards I ever had, great functionality and the huge screen helps reading the desktop versions, no mobile sites needed. Using Chrome and it works smoothly and flawlessly, imo it's better than the huawei browser Camera: This is really good, in tablet class certainly the best in the world, in phone class, one of the best, as good as my previous phones (IP6+, Samsung S6 Edge, Huawei Mate 7). Overall speed, etc: Very smooth and speedy functions, EMUI 3,1 and Lollipop are working seamlessly together, no third party launchers needed. Battery: Super! I get screen-on-times like 7-8 hours with a charge and there is still 15% left in the battery. This is absolutely great, go and buy this if you like to have a tablet and a phone combined. It fits to pockets and provides you with total mobile computing experience.

  • the android keyboard supports arabic and is included in the p8max initial package, as for the gulf issue like i said jadopado is a trusted website that offers good prices for the middle east exclusively. try it out :) if not then aliexpress and p8max in it, nobody is making cheap copies cuz its not that popular.

  • Hello, could you please tell me the website you ordered the mobile through it ???!!! I'm living in gulf region and interested in having the p8 Max also.

  • Hi, I'm also living in gulf region and willing to have p8 Max but it's clear that the phone will take so long to be released here.can you suggest the trusted website to buy the mobile from it and certainly I'm looking for the versions which supports Arabic language?!

  • Is aliexpress is a trusted site to deal with. I'm living in gulf region and interested in having p8 max which is not launched here and seems that it will take so long to be released in the gulf. Again can you suggest the trusted website to buy the p8 Max from it.

  • Try aliexpress.com best price just make sure seller reliable

  • Thanks so much for telling me that. Any suggestions about the other questions I had in the long post before the short one about the user guide? Thanks for your patience!

  • No english guide for the P8 max but the P8 has basically the same features and specs and bands, so go from there the link will take you to the manual.

  • Also... I.looked under "Manuals" but am not seeing a do2nload for a P8MAX. Am I missing it? I thought if I could look at one then maybe I wouldn't be so intimidated.

  • Hi, Soover! I can tell you LOOOVVVE your phablet because of your GREAT review and your willingness to answer our questions! Thanks for the list of the Networks covered by this phone but, I will be honest, I don't know enough about the nuts and bolts of that to be able to figure it out. I hear that you can have some things (like maybe voice but not text) with some providers. I asked someone who happens to be located here in Virginia some questions. I found him because he is selling a P8MAX on ebay in order to buy a MEDIAPAD X2. He is on the Cricket network and says everything works fine except he doesn't get 4G LTE - only 4G. I am still trying to find a provider that can support EVERYTHING. I also have to admit... I am scared that I don't know enough about Android to successfully set up the phone. I usually Google my questions about my Note 2 and there are a million answers. I Google P8MAX and it's a vast wasteland out there! Lol! I am trying to convince myself that it is because it is so new... I am also wondering about repairs here in the USA. I am used to paying insurance through Verizon. What happens if this phone breaks? Where do you take it for repairs? I have been researching this phablet since about March of this year. I LOVE it but I guess you can tell by my questions that I am still pretty clueless!

  • I have been a phablet user since phablets first came out, I've owned every note device with the exception of the note 5, since samsung decided to make iphones instead of samsung phones i siwtched to huawei P8 max, and here is my opinions after about a month of use: 1. This phone is amazing, hands down the best phone I've laid my hands on, wondering why ? here's why: 2. Battery: Immortal , this thing cannot die, it just wont , I really did try at times but no gain, the closest I've come was to 12% after a 24 hr continuous use with GPS and maps turned on most of the time with the screen on, and data use with 2 hrs of video throne in. 3. Apps: You control what happens to your phone, all apps are banned from starting when the phone turns on by default, and you can allow which ones you want to be able to launch and which ones don't, also you can restrict background data for specific apps, and even deny certain access to apps such as deleting contacts of crowding notifications. It also automatically shuts off all apps when the screen turns off and allows to pick which ones get to stay on, really good control.... 4. screen: its basically a tablet, the smallest and thinnest tablet that doubles as phone, while its not QHD you wont notice any difference and you wont have problems in sunlight, I use it as an Ereader and even read academic articles and charts off the thing with no problem. 5. Camera: Impressive while not astounding , certain features like all focus can be lifesavers and low light is actually very decent, but your not gonna get S6 quality pics out of this phone, but for me personally it didn't really matter, it got the job done. 6. space: so much versatility on this phone , specifically using the second tray as a sim or a memory card is a godsend. 7. the phone gives you power consumption updates for specific apps and tells which ones are draining power and which ones aren't 8. simple things go a long way, like having a built in recorder and notepad in the call app so you can manage any call without any problems... 9. there is a single handed operations mode in the phone should you need it , but honestly is second other reviews that its not that bad to use one handed in normal mode. 10. the only issue you'll run into is finding accessories for this device, be prepared to wait a while and ship from hong kong or china. 11. there also the samrt lan switcher that works well and the voice acitivated camera feature have been nice to have as well as the phone control center that will scan all of the device and optimize as needed. theres also a quick camera shortcut by tapping the volume button twice to launch the camera in about 1.5 sec 12. knock is good for screenshots . all in all that is my review of the P8 max, I've yet to have it stutter or glitch or lag a single time since I've bought it. It really is a well made phone. If you have questions shoot em :)

  • Try jadopado its middle east based and in the UAE :)

  • yes you can sync contacts normally, once you download google play and sign in with your gmail account all sync options work perfectly , just like a regular android phone

  • Best place to buy I would say Ebay and specify the source as the US, if it doesnt come with google play just go to google and download the API

  • this website gives you the frequencies of all US carriers the P8 max frequencies are : GSM:850 900 1800 1900 HSDPA: 850 900 1900 2100 HSPA+ LTE: 800 900 1800 2100 2600 mix and match :) hope this helps, ive had the phone for 3 weeks now and it is amazing !!! excellent battery life and great performance. Certainly flagship quality.

  • In my device Google Play and other Google apps were not installed, but it's easy to install them by yourself.

  • Hi! Wondering which cell phone provider supports this device in the USA? Thanks for the wonderful review!

  • WOW, Mario! AWESOME detailed review. Wondering if you would know which USA cell phone provider supports this device?

  • Hi! Wondering which cell phone provider supports this device in the USA? Thanks for the wonderful review!

  • Hi, all! I'm so glad to be able to read reviews from REAL users of this device. I have 2 questions: Which cell phone provider do I need to be with here in the USA in order for this phone to work at its optimal range in data, voice, speed, texting and whatever else it does? Where's the best place to buy one? I am not an Android pro by any means so if there's a version of this phone that's easiest to use right out of the box I would buy it from whoever sells that version. Thanks for your time!

  • can i sync contact with my GMAIL and is google apps like google play and youtube is installed by default in huawei

  • Forgot to mention the dual sim function. It is really clever and well designed. It allows me to have both work and private phones in the same device.

  • Been using the Max for 2 weeks now and am totally in love with this phone or tablet or phablet.. Everything functions very well. Ota updates came flawlessly and there is no lag or bugs in the software. The camera is super good, also in low light thanks to the OIS. The screen is wonderful, no pixels or dots visible, although "only" FHD. It's really bright as well and easy to use in sunlight. I also like the auto brightness mode, it works much better than in Samsung devices, where the auto mode has to be switched off in dim light. Naturally, the best thing is the size :) The look and feel is premium, full Metal body, no bend gates and there is a nano coating which protects against accidental splashes etc. Max is also clearly less slippery than iPhone 6. The size is perfect, it fits to my pockets and still offers a tabletlike experience, great! I can totally recommend Max to all phablet lovers, this is the real hybrid, combining the phone and a tablet and replacing both. If it only had a fingerprint scanner, it would be perfect. But even as it is, it's the best. And half of the price of iPhone 6+, Samsung Note 5, etc...

  • I'm living in South Africa and am wanting to purchase a P8 Max on the internet. I read somewhere to purchase the international version , can you advise as to how to distinguish between the 2 and what the difference is. Thanks carl

  • #MarioDSH, Dont I just love your explanation about the *Huawei P8 Max. Now I can't wait to have this phone. Those who have a problem with the size should stop complaining and just get smaller phones. Why would you complain about a Range Rover or VX Land Cruiser when you are use to Rav 4, Tiguan or BMW X3? The Specs of P8 Max are just mouth-watering. Thanks to HUAWEI!

  • I forgot to mention in my review that the OTA upgrade to Android 5.1.1 went flawlessly. Also the "Where Are You?" installed app worked fine in a quiet room, although I changed the default to "Howway Hinnie, Where are you?" (This reflects my Northern UK origin) ScottyJavea

  • Excellent device. Screen bright and sharp at 1080p...I thought that I would miss QHD, but not so. Movies play without stutter and superb sound level albeit only mono. Videos and camera shots are first-rate with very good low light. I bought this 6.8" to replace my 8.4" tablet and 5.5" phone. My only gripe, self-imposed, was to buy the Chinese version but default stuff replaced with Smart Launcher Pro, Dolphin browser and Aquamail. So far the best service that I have ever bought, although not cheap at 350 quid. Regards, ScottyJavea

  • Great bro!! ur explanation on the matter is really great!! I like the concept of gadgets are helping me to focus and perform better in my day-to-day tasks as well. But some new phones are packed with lots of functions that are not entirely helpful for day-to-day needs. However, Huawei and HTC are doing fine analysing these needs so far. =)

  • Hi Pate64, Unfortunately not, as my business account is Office365-based, not Exchange-based. The P8max works great with my Office365 account, including downloading and using the full suite of Office365 applications . . .

  • @Pate: Sir can i have the link for that online you mentioned when you ordered and purchase the P8max as there is still no update when it will be released here in Saudi Arabia. I want that phone too, thanks

  • Mario, do you use Exchange Active Sync emails on your P8max? If yes, how is it working?

  • This may be a little late, but the tip is to download the Huawei version of Google Contacts from Huawei apps store instead of Google Play. Google Contacts and Calendar downloaded from the regular Google Play do not sync properly on the P8 Max.

  • its more fun if I will have that p8 max

  • Hi LGP8max & Pate64, Glad to know that my review, albeit brief, came in handy for you guys :-) If there are some specific features that you are looking at, please do not hesitate to shoot. Cheers @ Mario

  • I ordered mine from China. Fast and reliable delivery of 4-5 days to Northern Europe

  • Personally I don't understand if people criticize this phone to be too big. What? This is a p h a b l e t, it's supposed to be big. If you want a smaller phone, buy the P8, Iphone 6 or something else. This one is for users who want to combine a tablet and a phone, so the size is not a disadvantage, it's a feature. If you want an easy one-hand use and speak a lot on the phone, this is probably not your device.

  • Hi and thanks for the long awaited review on the P8 Max. My unit has just arrived to my country and is awaiting customs clearance, so it will be in my hands end of this week. I'm an international traveller as well, I work in a big international company and travel in Europe many times a month and overseas several times a quarter. I have a work SIM with a slower internet connection and a private SIM with a high speed, unlimited 4G data and this phone will be a dream come true as I can leave my iPad at home and do with one single device, a phone and a tablet that serves as work and private phone as well. A real "Swiss Knife". It's good to hear that P8max works well and delivers the things needed. I will also review it here after having used it a bit.

  • Thanks for the very detailed review. I will be getting this phone, but since only the P8 will be coming to my country and not the P8 MAX, I will look at buying a Max on one of my overseas trips in the next month or two

  • Hi All, I've been using the P8max for the last 2 weeks and I'm absolutely in love with it. Please note that I'm a business user and also a frequent international traveller, as such my reasons for loving this phone may be vastly different from the readers here, but here's my take for the reasons why I love this phablet. By the way, I've always required a Dual-SIM phone and my last phone was the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual and that was preceded by the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8, both of which were Dual-SIM models. 1. Some have complained that the P8max has too big a screen at 6.8". I actually have no issues using this phone single-handedly, despite it's large footprint and relatively heavy weight. It also fits nicely into my pants' pocket. While the screen is definitely large, it's compensated by the fact that it hardly has no bezel and also super-slim at 6.8mm. 2. Even up to more than a year ago, it was difficult to get a Dual-SIM phone that supports 4G/LTE. Most phones then were SIM 1 (3G/3.5G) and SIM 2 (2G/GPRS). P8max not only supports 4G/LTE, but it supports it on both SIM slots (SIM1 - Micro SIM; SIM 2 - Nano SIM). While 4G/LTE is supported on only one of the SIM slots at any one time, you can easily switch this within the Settings option called "Dual Card Management". While in Singapore, I have measured the bandwidth speed (using Speedtest.net's app) on either SIM slots (with 4G active) and can easily obtain download speeds in excess of 75Mbps in sub-urban neighbourhoods. The theoretical download speed limit on the P8max is 300Mbps (LTE Cat6). 3. While not a big user of the camera features of this phone, I find that the camera quality (both pictures and videos) to be way better than satisfactory. While it sports only one speaker, the sound quality is also next to awesome. For those who are curious, yes, it comes with a built-in FM Receiver, but you still need to plug in the headset to serve as the FM antenna. I've played some .mkv HD 1080 movies on this phone recently and they all ran superbly without any latency whatsoever. The screen legibility in sunlight is also great. In a real-life environment, I use the P8max paired with my LG HBS-900 Bluetooth headset for my phone calls and audio/video entertainment. The Magnetic Lattice case for the P8max which comes included in the package is also a nice addition, albeit a bit of a novelty for me. The important notifications are displayed on the cover of the case without having to flip the cover open. While nice to have, I rely on my Moto 360 which is paired to my P8max to deliver the critical notifications that I need, while the phone sits nicely in my pant's pocket. If you are like me, a frequent traveller, and require to be connected via mobile internet while travelling (without roaming), then I would highly recommend this phone. Keep your primary SIM card (home operator as a Micro SIM format in SIM 1) and maintain as many foreign SIM cards as you need in Nano SIM format. When you need to switch your data to the foreign SIM card, simply activate the 4G/LTE on the 2nd SIM slot and deactivate data on SIM 1 (eliminate data roaming) while still being able to place and receive roaming calls on SIM 1. By the way, did I forget to mention what a pleasure it is to surf the web and read/reply emails on this gorgeous device? :-) Honestly, since using the P8max, I've come to rely less on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 which has been a frequent travelling companion of mine over the last one year or so. If you have similar needs as I've mentioned aforesaid, wait for this phone. Patience is a definite virtue in this case :-)

  • Sorry, no information on the possible radio. Will tell you when I get my phone next week.

  • Plate64 / or anyone else Sir Are you able to tell me if this lovely phone has a raido ?? Regards Heraldry

  • Just ordered this big baby! Cannot wait to get it, would like to have a tablet and a phone in same device and the dual SIM helps to keep work and private phone combined too. Had the Mediapad X1 last year but it was not perfect. This one should be much more effective with a decent camera as well

  • this phone is my dream, but too expensive. if lite version, 2 gb ram and 1.5 GHz octacore, i will buy it.

  • Yeah USD 600 is high for this one Hope huawei reduce the cost and make it sth near current p8 I'm sure there will be a lot of buyer like me if they don't other option is Motorola x style

  • Just wait for about 3-6 month...the price will go down...if not, just buy second hand one....i bet people will sell this because its too big...

  • Shame they won't off this in the united states. It would be the perfect upgrade to my Mate2!

  • very nice

  • LOL :D BIG what?

  • Pls open ur whatsapp contact go to setting, contact and select show all contacts. it works on my ascend mate7. U can try

  • 628MP4 on 6.8" funny :)

  • Open price for P8 = RM 1799 P8 max should be higher

  • Does p8 max is upgradeable to further coming version or not...? Pls suggest....!

  • where have you bought it?

  • Why the contacts in P8 max always disappearing. Every minute after i need to refresh it in whats app to get the whats app contact names... And id there any way to syncronuze google contacts with this phone. Please advice

  • you mean about rom? if so the chinese rom has no google play pre installed but international one has

  • Contact that store & leave your question.

  • How do I know if I am buying a Chinese or international version? Most online stores won't list that info, and it is not available in any US retailer yet (and may never be).

  • Huawei P8 is already more than RM1,500 in Malaysia... P8 Max even higher my friend... should be more than RM2,000...

  • Does it have Google services and Google Play out of the box?

  • I keep waiting for the release of this in malysia and most important how much its prize, if its prize below rm1500 it would be my next hndset

  • 6.8" display size? This is a tablet...I thought the nexus 6 is already pushing the size limit, and this is even bigger...

  • Can anyone confirm if both Nano-SIM slots (slot 1 and slot 2) support 4G/LTE? Or is it supported only on slot 1?

  • Love i!!! Geting one asap

  • This phone has finally been released!

  • It seems this phone has been released one month ago in some countries like china and J.

  • the international versions of all huawei phones had playstore so maybe you had seen chinese versions ones

  • its nice if it is removable battery, but anyways i will buy that soon

  • I love it :)

  • Does this P8 Max come with Google services enabled? I know they did not enable them in their devices in the past in the past, but it seems they maybe are enabled in the P8 family. Anyone here know this firsthand?

  • What you will do if you can remove it? You will put a bigger battery? Remember it's 6.8 inches & 6.8mm.

  • I dislike it because of the NON-REMOVABLE battery

  • Don't worry my friend It's 4x A53 @ 2.0 + 4x A53 @ 1.5 So it's A real octa-core

  • waiting too... Maybe LG note(6") or Z4 Ultra(?") if they can trumpf with built-in wireless charging(hey Huawei, IKEA got the message)

  • From the huawei website, the CPU should be Kirin 935 octa-core 64-bit. Not Quad-core.

  • Yes, in July . . . July 2016!!

  • dont think they release it as they dont need this much of time for a longer p8

  • Is it not July now? I don't think you don't understand what I mean or you never read it before? Except released since May, June and now expected release in July. If you don't know. Please shut up!

  • boys it says expected in july 2015 plz read up top and stop asking stupid questions

  • How long will it finally release?

  • What to make me too much boring is waiting for too long

  • I tested all these phones that you mentioned on the same T-Mobile Network: iPhone 6 plus: a) slow web opening (thanks to a slow processor) b) screen not as bright as on Lumia 1520 or Huawei Mate 7 c) has issues with connecting to LTE in congested areas of Manhattan, NY (google: iPhone 6 plus LTE issues and you will see that many people have this LTE connectivity issue as well) NEXUS 6 a) ugliest and boring design b) very ugly and confusing default Android Lollipop interface! (although all default Android interfaces are quite ugly. Thanks god Samsung and Huawei put their own interface on top of Android one) c) Amoled screen not as bright as a top LCD screen that is being used on Lumia 1520 and Huawei Mate 7

  • zenfone 2 ze551ml :(( - No 2160p video recording - Non-removable battery despite the removable back cover

  • iPhoone 6 Plus!!! - unimpressive screen - no microSD slot - no 4K video and video sound is still mono!

  • Nexus 6!!! - No memory expansion slot - Video sound recorded in mono

  • 1-No need to change your nickname from (Christ) to (MARTINY) 2-Again & again the 6 Plus is 5.5" so you can't compare it to the P8Max 6.8". 3-you are correct you waste your time 6 Plus (Available. Released 2014, September) Nexus 6 (Released 2014, November)

  • Don't believe it without a (source).

  • Everybody ! Why you waste your time to wait such kind of this big phone. I also like the big screen but waiting too long is not my habit. I phone 6 plus or nexus 6 is much better if you compare. I don't think this phone can make me satisfy, I will disappoint with it ocs waiting. Finallly I give up and choose a better one.

  • I Already ordered the phone, and I will get it here tomorrow. Cant Wait!!!.

  • Is that true?? R u sure? cuz i need a new mobil &i decided to wait if it will be released in july ! But if october i definitely can't wait

  • It won't be released before October 2015.

  • It won't be released before October 2015.

  • If you really want a big screen like the P8Max you will not go lower than 6"

  • i think never, i waited too long to buy it but unfortunately as i needed a phone bought zenfone 2 ze551ml instead

  • (MT2-L03)

  • When is this phablet gonna be finally released in UK?

  • Too too toooooooooooo long waiting iam giving up !!

  • I still use a Mate2, LOVE IT. If this one ever gets the proper LTE bands for the USA, I'll get one.

  • nice tech.specification

  • want

  • If you to use the (dual sim) you can get the premium version (dual sim + 64GB internal)

  • Interestingly it has almost the same(very close) physical dimensions n wt as the Z Ultra, its a pity its not a true dual sim! (MicroSD, up to 64 GB -uses SIM 2 slot). Surprising they could not get space for another nano sim slot on such a massive unit!

  • Should be a June 26 release, but where it will be released i suppose we shall find out on the day. $610 is the price which is quite a bit for this phone so I shall keep to my 6.44" Sony Z Ultra.

  • Will be available in China on 26-Jun at 10:08

  • You can't compare 5.5" to 6.8"

  • I'm a bule living in JKT, and i want this phone too! Hurry up Huawei, i'm getting tired of waiting )-:

  • No waiting any more, buy iPhone 6 plus is better. It must have some problem or mistakes, that's why it postponed for too long.

  • How you got it your so lucky please tell us where you got the phone

  • I got early access to this phone and I can confirm it has a radio reciever. Also it is a beast.

  • Better to buy a new phone..... Instead of waiting this.... too too too long.

  • You know that it's 4360mAh in 6.8mm body correct? So it's a real thin & slim powerbank. (BTW you can charge the other cellphones)

  • still coming soon, i think i better buy something else as i think i will never see this in the market soon

  • Everything about this phone is perfect except LTPS lcd technology! I saw LTPS one one of the phones and it is not as bright and colorful as IPS LCD on Huawei Mate 7!

  • too long wait plzz announce a certain date

  • Battery must be able to come out or its no good.

  • 228 grams because it's 6.8" You should check this list (2015) : Huawei P8max 6.8" 228g Huawei MediaPad X2 7.0" 239g Alcatel Pixi 3 (7) LTE 7.0" 260g Lenovo Tab 2 A7-10/30 7.0" 269g Asus Fonepad 7 FE171CG 7.0" 280g Asus Fonepad 7 FE375CL 7.0" 299g Micromax Canvas Tab P470 7.0" 306g Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite 7.0 VE 7.0" 310g Maxwest Nitro Phablet 71 7.0" 321g Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 V 7.0" 322g

  • i`m waiting..... Too too long waiting. Atleast this month..

  • What the hell , 228 weight !!!!! Too damn heavy

  • Will this phone be 100% compatible with on TMobile network??

  • It's 228g not 250g :)

  • An apple design combined with xperia design?copycats...

  • weight quarter a kilogram! needs strong arms lols!

  • i want reviews...i want to read the reviews before buying...

  • Dual Sim(Micro)?

  • Dual Sim(Micro)?

  • Dual Sim(Micro)?

  • I agree with Surabayan. I live in JKT, and i'm waiting for this phone also!

  • When is the released date of Huawei P8max? I've been waiting for this. I want to buy this one. Please tell us what is the exact released of Huawei P8max? Thanks!

  • Too long waiting!

  • When huawei p8 max release in Pakistan. It's specs are so good

  • nice tech.specification want to buy

  • Any update regarding the release of P8max in middle east region (UAE / Saudia)?

  • so far P8 released in UAE

  • i love n love this phone. i have to buy it. when will it come to indonesia ???

  • When will it be released already? LTE Band 4 for USA? Still no website provides an answer on what LTE Bands this phone will have.

  • Waiting. When this will available in UAE market. Awesome phone.

  • i proper want this phone

  • we are waiting release

  • Does anyone know when o if this phone will be available in the uk??

  • it release in Singapore yes or not?

  • finally!! an amazing big smartphone!

  • Yes ...me too ...

  • Take my money !

  • i dont care..i want to buy this

  • Superb phablet

  • The first african country will be Kenya.

  • why is it that Africa country is always the last launch and this is where d real market is? when are they launching it in nigeria? we just need to wake up? and make this producer note the worth of Nigerian

  • I mean P8 Max

  • JUNE 2 w/New York Huawei event we should know. Anything announced there will have US bands. I doubt the P8 will be released here tho...ie:no North American bands anywhere

  • Very true Nongme, same with me here, do not know when it is going to arrive in India. I will be abandoning all the note series that I have with this phone.

  • Go for the 64GB

  • I do not like changing phones but this Huawei P8 phone has caught my heart and i will grab one immediately and desert my Xperia Z1. The phone is fully loaded. hope it wouldn't have heating and frequently freezing just as other phones? Please when is it hitting Africa and Ghana?

  • this phone is soo awesome i want to buy

  • If T-Mobile carries this I'll be using my Jump immediately. If not I'll be buying this outright from whoever wants to sell it to me.

  • But it will work on Verizon.

  • Yes this is my dream phone just wish I could have SDcard and 2 sims or at least lots of internal memory.

  • i need to read some reviews before i buy this phablet.

  • Sony may have that specs but they are far behind on market share compared to Sony.... Specs isnt everything.... Sony may be good but Huawei proves to be great

  • Excuse me Sony haven't even released the Z4 Ultra yet so how can you say you own the the Z4 Ultra, please down mislead people with flsae information. I have the Z Ultra and that still beats this in every department, better design, looks and perfect size, not forgetting the Adreno 330 gpu which is much more powerful that the gpu in this Huawei phone. The Z4 Ultra will most probably be released sometime in Q3 or if lucky next month.

  • When will this phone be available in the states.I own a Sony experia z4 ultra this seems to be a better phone for the money. Sony has not updated the ultra are give out a plan for a new phone so I want to switch to a new brand. This has 5.o operating system.

  • Which source did you get this info from? Because Huawei told me that they don't have the 4g specs themselves yet.

  • p8 max support 4g lte with t-mobile

  • I just called Huawei and the representative told me that they don't know either what LTE Frequencies or Bands this phone will have. He said the info will be available upon release of the phone.

  • No it shouldn't. It's called P8 Max for a reason. If you want a phone with a smaller screen size stick to the regular P8 or P8 Lite.

  • Display size is fine, but needs 14xx X 25xx display, radio capable of working with Google F1.

  • Tbc= to be confirmed Dude

  • Is it true that there are no USA LTE bands for this? They released the band specs for the regular P8 when it shipped out and a buddy told me it supported a few t-mobile bands. Because of that I have a hard time thinking that the P8max wouldn't support any.

  • That's why they offer you The TalkBand B2.

  • just need a bit of design to get a lot of market. I would said a Pen kind of microphone-speakers system to answer calls and even more navigate the tablet with an appropriate tip. Lot of people had bad eyesight and are ashamed to hold the big thing to our ears. But I'm sure getting a pen size devise Bluetooth connected will be cool. Beside during your phone call you may use the tablet functionality improving your work and life atyle. and nobody will lough on you

  • If you think that the P9 Max is really big for you then you can take the P8 or P8 Lite. If you want & need the (iPAD Air 2) 9.7" I can't force you to take the (Mini 3) 7.9" because the Air 2 got a big & heavy body & I can't carry it around but you can.

  • Tell me is it not such a big phone

  • The screen size is ideal gripped my hand, so expect this type of entry to Indonesia, I would definitely buy it

  • bigger is better

  • Huawei already give you the option for the screen size. If you prefer 5" screen than just go for P8. Just leave this P8Max to those who want the big screen.

  • There is nothing wrong with 6.8 or 7.0 display size! There are still belt clips for every phone available on the market. Smart phone is not just for games but for reading as well, so the bigger display, the more productive the smartphone is!

  • Hi All, does Huawei have plan for distribution it in Saudi Arabia ? because i need large display with dual SIM+16 IM...Regards

  • This is exactly the same question I have in mind. Things to consider: screen size, battery life, fingerprint sensor, Android OS version, etc.

  • Tbc= to be confirmed

  • can anybody explain what TBC stands for and whether It has FM Radio or not

  • You can get the 64GB.

  • P8 is 5.2

  • best design ever! prob is the screen is too big it should have been 5inch

  • Why the heck are they using sim2 slot for the sd card. What if i need both? Huawei please dont do this.

  • Availability: Out of stock

  • And big what?

  • If you want a cellphone (2015+available) with 4K videos then this list for you 1-S6/S6 Edge 2-M9 3-G Flex 2 4-Mi Note

  • Totally agree

  • Why can't Huawei have a stylus for such a fabulous phablet, just like the s-pen on Samsung Galaxy Notes?

  • Where can we purchase P8 & P8max in Melbourne? Is there a Huawei outlet in Melbourne?

  • I have the Huawei X1 and love it. 7 inch and yet it fits well into my front pants pocket. Only time when you feel it is when you sit or squat, but it's easily bearable and I usually take it out and place on the table when sitting down. So the P8 max will fit even nicer because it is narrower than my X1. People say it's too big, but I disagree. You get a phone that fits in your pocket, but when you take it out you get a mini tablet. Capture both worlds with one device.

  • Thats 28nm and 14nm Nm stands for nanometre.

  • perfect phones, i want buy this phone

  • No 4k video? At this price it's just ridiculous huaweii...ooverpriced phone

  • If offered ten thousand euros or ten thousand RMB, which you want? LeMax is in no class with P8 Max, Le phones promote their TV service, what you promote?

  • Sure it's compact because you are comparing 6.8 vs 6.3

  • Le Max from LeTV is much more compact than p8max

  • Specs look good except they using the ancient 28mm kirin 930/935. Its outdated by 2015 standard, if they use at least 20mm that OK. Look at Samsung their chip is made with 14mm advanced technology.

  • I am not that tiny, but you should admit this is a large device.

  • there is EVEN larger phone in the world from huawei .. id is called media pad x2 7'' you can still call..

  • Bit weird have charger plug on top of phone..

  • may be that's why those giant phablets are so popular in china and other asian markets :) LOL

  • Man You read my mind :)

  • P8max looks and confirm much better than samsung galaxy 4 tablet 7inch. It is design for macho alpha male who has big hand and big...

  • If the P8max is big for you then the Z Ultra is big too + It's 6.8" so you can't have a 6.8" screen in a 5" body. Huawei give you 3 options P8 P8 Lite P8 Max

  • It's too big! It can not fit in any pockets(maybe unless you wear XXXL size :D).

  • Which has a better battery life in real world use? This with its 4360mah battery? Or the Huawei AscendMate 7 with its 4000mah battery? I also like the fingerprint feature of the latter, albeit, older.

  • My Samsung Mega 6.3 had IR blaster, i had never use it even once, totally useless as i have few remote controller at my home.. muaahahaha

  • Why would you need infra-red? What benefit would that be? Could you not just watch TV on your tablet/phone??

  • 187.2 x 93 x 6.8 vs 183.5 x 103.9 x 7.2 It's taller because it's 6.8" 16:9 vs 7" 16:10

  • Take the P8 or the P8 Lite.

  • The phone's size comes in at 182.7 x 93.0 x 6.8 mm and a hefty 228g.

  • Once again, the USA is shut out! No LTE bands that work on at&t or T-mobile. Already have the Mate2 and LOVE IT. Wouldn't bother me to carry around a 6.8, .4" more isn't that big of a deal. Come on Huawei...give the U.S. some love too, please?

  • No infrared... i.e for remote control?

  • its taller than mediapad x2 why? 187mm vs 183 even the size bezel look big.

  • Screen size 6.8 inches ! thats mean i'am carrying tablet even not phablet!

  • Turkish market is waiting for this kind of tablet phones,Huge customers use dual model..

  • Wow this is fantastic news!

  • wait until they released a USA edition. as we wait for Ascend G7.

  • This phone is massive in size and will dethrone Sony Xperia Z Ultra as the largest phone in the world

  • Finally a normal size and specs phone but again LTE is mainly for Asian Market. I really wish they would have included LTE band 4 fot T-Mobile. It's a shame that huge phones are popular mostly in Asia.
