Huawei U8100 - User Reviews

  • If your phone falls into water, dry it with a hair dryer and leave it to rest. I

  • please help me how to remove the icons after receiving music via bluetooth

  • Guys, please help me. how do i lock the keypads manually? it normally does automatic calls when its in the pocket.

  • This a really good phone but only if u r using it to make calls, take a couple pics, send some texts but if u use more than that then u will have problems. I have now used it for 2.5 years and the problems just started to kick in. It always fell out of my jackets pockets but other than the scratch not a single thing happened to the functioning or the feature part of it. I u are planing on buying a cheap phone but want it to have the cool features then this is ur type of phone. The rating from me to this phone would be a 8/10. As it was never bad with me.

  • Phone works ok as a low end smart phone. After two years of use the screen gave out and the touch is non responsive. If you use data and use the phone for longer conversations, you will need a backup battery as the one that comes with the phone will not get you through the day. After two years I am not able to use it anymore as the touch screen lost it's sensitivity and calibration doesn't fix it. Don't expect too much from this phone it's slow response, rotation doesn't always work great, GPS takes forever to acquire satellites and browser has many limitations. This is a usable phone but for a little more, there is better value out there.

  • 3 years of having this phone. In mid-2012, this phone isn't worth anything. When I got it, it was maybe mid-low range. Overall, horrible resolution and small screen. GPS very unresponsive. Very slow processor. Wifi is alright. Data speed is terrible. Literally several (10+) secs of lag between application switches or long SMS threads. Not worth it unless all you will do is use a phone for its bare-bone functions, in which case I'd recommend a pre-paid newer phone you can easily get for $50 or less that far outperforms this.

  • Has anyone used the Huawei Y100? Is it better than the U8100?

  • My cell phone have a problem, last days my phone dip in water and now it start but not complete the on process. only stop running in logo, what i do?

  • l am having too many problems with this phone and its only a year since l bought it. the touch screen is not working anymore and l cannot phone, sms or read my whatsapp smses. worse phone, l wouldn't recommend anyone to buy it.

  • I've had this phone for about 18 months now. Lots of problems. Kept dropping calls and sometimes emitting an ear-piercing shriek on one or both call ends. When I got the SIM card replaced, it cured these problems but battery life immediately became terrible. Lasts only about 7 - 8 hrs. on mostly standby, and I have to take the charger to work with me, which is a real nuisance since my work keeps me on the move. Other issues: impossible to read the screen outdoors in daylight, and GPS is unreliable. Seems to be indestructible though; have dropped it on concrete and it fell apart, but I put it back together and it kept on working. Will probably replace it very soon because of the terrible battery.

  • I have this phone. GPS is okay, the phone don't ram if I open all application. Camera, well, is quite good. verry funny phone

  • This phone is Very good but fault on the batter is suddenly get heat and discharge in short time that's the problem. But 100% Proper working. Also Camera is bad quality at low temperature

  • I had this for over a year. I like it, but I can never get the GPS working.

  • my huawei u8100 is saying simlock block unlock reset key can someone give me that key or where can l get it

  • Really very good phone. I love it. Is fast, have android and I can connect with all social webs. I write this in my phone. good work!

  • This is the worst phone ever made in the entire UNIVERSE!!! There is nothing good about except that it's an android. The screen is tiny and it has an awful resistive touchscreen that barely works unless you press down really hard. After a year the battery life is like 3 min. if your lucky. A ton of the apps don't work or they run really slow and crash a lot. The phone is just a piece of garbage that should've never been invented. PLZ DON'T EVER BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK PHONE EVER!!!

  • This is the worst phone ever created in the planet. The screen is horrible. You have to press really hard, its impossible to type on it, cant aberration market, cant access facebook, camera is pathetic, battery life is poor, back cover wobbles, screen scratcher easily, games play slowly in this phone, everything force closes, loudspeaker is too low to hear calls. Dont ever buy this phone I beg you!

  • After one year, this phone is gabbage. I tossed mine away. battery life after one year is 2 minutes. It freezes and at times just shuts down on its own.

  • i like this phone but im from the philippnes can i use this phone here in my place?

  • tweety, flash player is not yet supported for Android phones with less than 1GHZ "Great phone if u could find a compattible flash player, I've been searching for weeks so if anyone can help me with this problem that would be great! - tweety"

  • hw do i obtain the software to unlock my phone, it is requesting for a pattern to unlock.

  • Battery life sucks. About one day mostly on standby (5-10 SMS's 1 or 2 calls, no games, no GPS, no WiFi, no Internet)

  • I love the phone but at times I lose calls just cuts them off but the wifi is great for a phone don't care about the cam but it works in good light. The touch screen is nice too and has plenty of apps, was surprised by the GPS on how well it works penpoint. Very happy with this phone.

  • I own a Huawei (Wahway) U8100 and it does not have LED Flash or 2nd Cam as per your specs posted on this site, it does good on the A-GPS and Wireless, Pic taken is not that hot with the camera, loads of apps on the Android Market that help to make it a very good phone over all, hope I am not getting ahead of myself here. But I am satisfied so far with it.

  • And no 2nd cam either

  • Good phone for user who has first contact with Android smartphone. Camera sucks in low light video is horribly low 325x266 pixels.

  • hi . what the best 2.2 or 2.3 rom you recommends because i hate stock 2.1 and its so outdated

  • this model no have led flash!!!!

  • my wi-fi doesnt turn on

  • This phone is a great phone. It runs Android OS v2.1 Eclair. I like the nice design and the easy usability. I also appreciate the Emotion UI. My only problems with it are its 528 megahurtz core processor and its resistive touchscreen which is prone to easy scratches.

  • This Phone have not a front camera or LED Flash, I am totally Sure because I got this phone.

  • My GPS works great, Wifi is good, and any App I have downloaded works fine. Only issue is battery life.

  • I bought a H8150-D and signed up with lycramobile, only problem is I cant get internet access through lycra as they dont have the tech specs for the phone??>. What is this about?? Any ideas?

  • It does not have a front facing camera

  • I hate this phone. I thought I was getting a phone that had everything I needed, but instead I got a phone where the touch screen is hard to use, apps are bad, GPS??? yeh right...oh and email forget it. I would not buy another one even if it all I could get.

  • download skyfire browser, plays flash, i have it on my huawei u8100

  • Great phone if u could find a compattible flash player, I've been searching for weeks so if anyone can help me with this problem that would be great!

  • Does anyone know how to send a ringtone through message?

  • This little guy is getting some unfair comments here. I've had this phone from Wind Mobile for about 2 months. I wanted a simple, not too large (fits in pocket) Android that wouldn't cost me a mint if I lost it. Current price is $120 cdn, no contract. The sensors work great, GPS, compass/mag, orientation. In a side-by-side comparison against iPhone4 Google Sky Map was more accurate. WiFi works well. The touchscreen being resistive needs heavier touch than higher cost screens but it is very consistent. This may bother you if you are used to iPhone. I use the Swype keyboard, works well on this phone. Battery life is acceptable for me, in standby (mobile data disabled, WiFi off) I get about 5 days with a few short phone calls. In continuous use with WiFi on I can basically go all day. I use Advanced Task Killer to clean up excess background apps esp after startup. Also uncheck always-on mobile in options. I've found workarounds for two problems with this phone: - Audio quality often reverts to a lo-fi mode unless using the Huawei 4-contact headset, and output level is low. See my workaround here Result is great sound connected to my car audio system. - WiFi sleep policy setting doesn't work, so WiFi disconnects whenever the screen locks while on batteries (ok on charger). Use free REGPON wifi KeepAlive app to fix.

  • this phone is sucks man,no GPS too?coz in order to gps works it need to be online??????this is like shit, touch screen is shit too,...never recomended for listing music as ipod...

  • this phone is suckssss, there is no gps at all,it works when u are connected which is not gps though!thats google map and android 2.1,suckssssss

  • I already have one but there's no secondary camera,no LED flash.unique phone!

  • can't send songs thru bluetooth

  • i am using it for awhile .. real experience .. dont buy.. u will regret trust me ! .. worst phone i everrrrrrrr had ! .. everrrrr !

  • Well..I bought this phone a few days ago (my first android) and Im still learning how to use it. I have a two questions.. First of all...is there an actual way in which you can stop the phone from stretching all the images I tried to use as wallpapers? Its really bothersome. I know the phone can support up to 24 screens, but is really that necessary? Secnd: Can you use the front camera with Skype? Since I started using the phone, I found no way to test that camera. Thanks to anyone with the time to answer me. :)

  • how can you set the micro sd in order that all your downloads go there(to the MICROSD)

  • I have had it for a month. There is no flash, no. Battery life sucks - compare capacity to some others, most have 1700 or 1800. An app called powersave will help.

  • Download the app called Powersaver. It will make the battery last 30 plus hours. It's free.

  • How do you turn your internet on 3g

  • I had this for the last 5 months and quiet satisfied. Just get the packet for 1.6mio with 0% interest for 6 months. The "wifi router" definetly not router, it is one to one sharing (point to point) that only available for max 5 connections. You have to set always on/not in standby mode, so you have plug the power in. Normal usage rate (calling+texting) without internet just about 1.5days. Heavy usage (gps+pushmail+internet+ebuddy+update) only last about 6-8hours. Touchscreen resistif not quiet good. You'll missed sometime, i brought a ligt touchpad-pen to make easier typing. Sensor rotate so slow (or actually it is caused by the low processor in use?). Spare batteries.. and it will be better than carrying bulky-bad batteries thing like Blackberries (especially for internet stuf). HSDPA-3G supported and fast. Bluetooth OK. Loud ringer, more softwares in the "markets", help to define more specific usage. Cons: difficult to find spare batteries, price should be below $100 since nowadays more cheap android come over. Can't be updated to higher android version. Low processors make it difficult in operational about 3-4tasks in a row

  • I've had the device for over a month now, and I can safely say it's really good for the price you pay. I wouldn't consider it for someone who regularly uses their cell phone for business purposes, but it's a really good starter phone for those who want to get a sense of what the android OS offers. The only set backs that I found at first using it are that 1) The battery life is poor, so if you go on long trips, you should definitely pack a charger or an extra battery because it lasts maybe 40 hours on standby.in the first week, my battery barely lasted 10 hours on stand by! But as I charged it and used it more often, I found the battery life gets better. (Odd right?) 2) The Keyboard is very difficult to work with. (I eventually got use to the keyboard after about two weeks, but there are other keyboards available for download so that wasn't such a huge setback) 3) I found it difficult to download Java apps, (Which I later figured out how to, this too, is not that big of a set back as there are many .apk apps available for free download on the android market) Overall, I really enjoyed this phone. Very good user interface and at a low cost. I found the design of the phone to be sleek, but the curve at the end is kind of strange. I'm considering getting a new color face plate as well, hopefully they offer that.

  • can this huawei U8100 video call with first camera because huawei compas can do that ?

  • After using this handset for nearly two months I can safely say that this device is garbage. Although cheap, it is severely underpowered and will leave a sour taste in your mouth as it continuously crashes while you attempt to send important text messages. The touch screen is unresponsive, and the internal hardware leaves much to be desired. I'd recommend shilling out a bit more money for something with more power and better quality parts.

  • Have to agree. The battery life is very limited. End up charging it every day to keep it from dying.

  • the battery power limit sucks but other than that great phone.

  • there i no secondary camera or LED flash and the battery is short.I bought it for 99,99£

  • The battery sucks - 30 hours tops

  • The battery on this phone can only last about 10 hrs on a full charge. Only using about 30 minutes of calls and 1 minute of data. This is with bt, wifi turned off, screen brightness on minimum. Anyone suggest where I can get a better battery. Huawei does not manufacture a higher end battery for this phone.

  • A word of advice, pack an extra battery. It's a battery killer if you try to use the browser. Overall, good for me for a first phone.

  • Well what do you expect, it's ENTRY LEVEL at $150. This is my first phone, and for me it's fantastic except for battery life and volume.

  • I recently purchased the Huawei U8100 from WIND mobile, on the whole I am enjoying the phone, however I am having quite the time trying to source out a case similar to the ones that cover the iphone series. silicone would be nice. Also a screen protector specifically for this model, that does not need to be cut in order to fit. Any help would be appreciated...thank you

  • does this phone have 2 cams?

  • This phone has no flash, battery life using the phone is shorter than they say, overall this phone stinks. It's worth a good hard throw against the wall.

  • hei, grok da site also says that info abut phones might nt b 100% corect.so beat it.

  • No led flash in camera, wrong information, voice comunication only in 3g.

  • These specs are inaccurate! FM Radio: yes GPS: yes

  • two things that i like from this handset. one, aviator is the lowest price for kinda ver.2.x android mobile sold in here, no matter what cons(?) it has. two, the android doesn't support front camera for either videocall or close-up pic taking...lol

  • @afeef If you are with windmobile for 3 month just ask them to unlock it for you. They will give you a code for that. As for people asking gsmarena to update the specs, this is kind of hard because we haven't seen the international model. It should be pretty much the same but then again wind was looking for a cheaper model so some of the feature may have taken out.

  • I dont wath video in intewrnet

  • i have the phone it doesnt have a led flash if u search the phone up on google than you can even see the touch isnt that good but its good phone for its price i bought it for $150 canadian from wind mobile i want to get it unlocked but its gonna charge me alot im not sure if it is actually quadband since not all information on this page is correct if anyone has an unlocked one which works on rogers or fido please post reply..thanx

  • NO Video Call, there is NO Front Camera....!!! your info NOT Accurate...!!!

  • PDF Manuals:

  • You can set any of your MP3 music files as your ringtone!!!

  • its looking v nice & also specifications are v good.

  • yes it does

  • how do you use your own ringtones on this phone??????

  • It's somewhere on WIND Mobile's website.

  • This phone actually does not have flash; however, the Huawei 8110 does. What may seem like the flash beside the camera is actually the speaker.

  • awesome phone

  • yes it does

  • is there a manual for this phone in internet because i lost original box with manual?

  • does this phone have FM radio or not.

  • Whya re there no specs about the processor or the RAM? Since this thing is a smart phone, that is pretty essential info.

  • This is a pretty decent phone. It looks much better in black. Reception is good and it's decently fast. I assume it'll be even faster if you can get Froyo on it later. The only thing is that the screen resolution is a bit low, but at this price that's expected. Great value phone!

  • There is no qwerty key-pad. this is needed for end-user who are using public transportation such BUS & Train. it will be very difficult if we are using touchscreen pad

  • The phone has a good GPS and FM radio. The Bluetooth version is at least 2.1 since it has simple secure pairing.

  • Dear this phone has builtin flash for camera see please below features: 2.0/2.1 (Eclair) Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.29[41] On 26 October 2009 the 2.0 (Eclair) SDK was released.[42] Among the changes were:[43] * Optimized hardware speed * Support for more screen sizes and resolutions * Revamped UI * New Browser UI and HTML5 support * New contact lists * Better white-black ratio for backgrounds * Improved Google Maps 3.1.2 * Microsoft Exchange support * Built in flash support for Camera * Digital Zoom * MotionEvent class enhanced to track multi-touch events[44] * Improved virtual keyboard * Bluetooth 2.1 * Live Wallpapers The 2.0.1 SDK was released on 3 December 2009.[45] The 2.1 SDK was released on 12 January 2010.[46]

  • there is no LED Flash on this phone, please update the spesifications.

  • Pros: - Good Features - Good Response with 526Mhz Arm Proc and 180MB RAM - Quite sensitive touch feature (and loves the haptic/vibrate response when typing) - New games experience games like in the iphone :) Cons: - GPS signal is very bad indoor - Wifi hot spot feature not working well with my notebook (sometimes the connection dropped) - Battery capacity is too small (suggestions: turn off GPS, and set the data signal in 2G when not requiring high speed browsing) - Cannot join Wifi with proxy address Question: - Did i have the different type cell phone? because there's only 3.2MP camera, no flash, no secondary camera Overall : quite satisfied, Price performance 8/10

  • This handset Indra Indonesia named AVIATOR, because it's function as a traveling guide. One HP his key features is WiFi tetherring function, mean it can be a wireless router so we can create our own HOT spot anytime and anywhere.

  • agreed. so do i.

  • It's been out at Indonesia.. This phone also known as Huawei Aviator.. Good because it can be an hotspot.. Bad because its battery is worst..

  • CONS: +just find out that the battery capacity is too small, I wish I can find the higher capacity battery.

  • Just bought it 2 hours ago. PROS: +Solid hardware +Exchange push email is working CONS: +Not yet found

  • @andry: wifi router means you can turn this huawei u8100 into hotspot. It will become a wireless modem connect by using wifi. Just like if nokia symbian use joyku.

  • Huawei launched the U8100 in Indonesia yesterday. they changed the name to Huawei Aviator and it's price is around USD220. and as far as i remember, Huawei representative said that this phone has built-in Wifi router. hmm, wonder what does that mean?

  • lol, seems like a HTC hero imitation

  • cool phone i like it !!!!!

  • Cool phone. Like the pink.
