Samsung Galaxy S7 (USA) - User Reviews

  • click edit comment

  • can you rework your comment so that people can understand you?

  • Hold up iv'e heard rumors tht it might get some bug releases to 8.1 or mybe 9.0 with some options disabled for storage space for users to use, where I've heard it from one of the verizon Samsung phone tech group representative told me from the HQ its gunna be one of the last smooth cornered phones aka s7 to be recieving updates under Verizon's software updates, Security updates to be able to get the newer software updates aka 8.1 nor the 9.0 with limitations for storage space but all verizon software option's are enabled and can be disabled in the devices settings list hotspot and a couple of others to name a few.

  • No, thas was the last update for S7, is already discontinued

  • will it get the 9.0 pie update

  • will it get 9.0 pie?

  • Since I have collected my samsung galaxy S7, the phone performing perfectly , two days ago the phone did not ON for any apps. What excactly happen to it?

  • I owned S7 AT&T variant and I used it as my daily driver for 3 years, it was great phone with rich features. I love camera the most it still great compared to other phones nowadays, but the phone itself are easy to get warm, even with just for social media. The battery is still great if you don't mind to charge twice a day, fast charging from 5% to 100% in an hour. from the price range of this device, I can say this is great phone and you would get beyond from you've paid. if the OS more optimized I can't say no word to say to this device.

  • Google XDA, get in and search...

  • I've already updated my s7 g930t to oreo more than 6 months...

  • The battery life is about 4.5 hours (straight gaming, non-stop) if you are gaming with the screen at roughly 50% brightness. This is after more than 2 years of use, so the battery is still working great. If I just use the phone normally.. like maybe 1 hour of gaming, a few mins of web browsing, a few mins of texting, checking the weather twice, watch 1 or 2 quick videos on youtube, playing music about an hour and maybe 2 phone calls at about 3 mins each, and the rest of the time with the screen off, wifi on when at home, LTE connected always... I will still have roughly 30% battery at the end of the day. So that's about 9+ hours of battery life. This is the last phone from Samsung for now that still has a REAL home button. This is a major plus to have on a phone, since this button will always work no matter what, even if you are inside a game, app, screen off, or buggy app, crashed app, or if the screen is damaged. Also, this real home button saves you 1 swipe or tap every time you need to use it since the newer phones require you to swipe or tap a few times to get the button to show up before it can be activated as a home button. That 1 swipe or 1 tap adds up over the life of the phone... if you pressed a real home button 400k times over 3 years, you will be swiping, tapping the fake home button on newer phones more than 800k+ times (inflated since taps and swipes are sometimes lost/buggy on all phones (apple and android). Ive seen the newest Iphone XS.. and they have this rediculous hidden UX/UI that you have to tap and swipe multiple times just to get something and when not in use, it is constantly hogging a portion of the screen as a drag-able bubble. I don't know why they would remove the useful home button completely. It has a headphone jack! Yes, that sounds silly to mention as a feature... but it seems some phone manufacturers think that removing the jack is what they want to do. For me, the headphone jack is a necessity because I can plug in any headphone I want instantly and I immediately have the maximum quality sound possible. Without this jack, I would be forced to either carry dongles, choose to either charge my phone or use a headphone but not both at the same time, or use wireless which means a huge drop in sound quality, a slight lag delay, enabling and disabling "pairing" and waiting for the headphones to "pair", more battery drain on the phone during use because its broadcasting and receiving Bluetooth data while I use the headphones, and I have yet 1 more device to charge every day and night (the wireless headphones). So for me, having a real headphone jack is actually a real and wanted feature. This Galaxy S7 phone has a great camera and great video camera. It has a memory card slot, so you can easily swap it out if you fill it up, and swap in an empty one while you copy your pics, videos etc to your computer without tethering your phone to it or uploading slowly over 4G LTE or WIFI. It uses industry standard USB, so you can find a cable anywhere. I do recommend buying the high speed charging cables, since they enable the fastest charging speed when connected to a fast charger. The charging speed even after 2 years of use is still just 1 hour to get a full charge. The screen has amazing vibrant colors due to the OLED technology. Black is pure black on this phone since OLED can turn off those pixels, where as LED screens light up even when the color is black, which will produce a greyish tint caused by the backlight in LED screens. The phone is very fast and powerful with 4GB of RAM and a nice graphics card for gaming. The Samsung OS comes with a game tweaking app that lets you superclock the phone and push it to the max resolution for the best looking and super fast gaming. Or you can switch the resolution down to save battery power or boost the frame-rate even higher. You can also down-clock the GPU/CPU to save more battery power. If you just need a quick battery boost, the phone also has 3 battery modes... Normal, battery saver, and a super low battery mode. The super low mode limits the phone down so that it can last several extra hours by blocking everything that is not essential to running the phone. You can still take pictures, run google maps, make phone calls, text messaging, web browsing and some other apps. The phone is waterproof and it is safe if it falls in the water, snow, rain, etc. The only 2 downsides to this phone are: if you put your phone at max brightness and use Waze(gps app), you will get a huge screen burn in on the right from the orange circle button that Waze uses. This is probably a common problem on all OLED screens. So no matter what app you use, dont keep an OLED screen at full brightness for more than a few mins or you will risk screen burn in for any content that is constantly on the whole time (clock, battery indicator, speed, ux/ui elements, huge orange button in Waze, etc). The only other drawback to this phone is the sealed in battery. The Galaxy S5 and phones before it had batteries that you could easily remove and swap out with a fully charged battery. The S5 did this with waterproofing, so Samsung could have added this feature to newer phones, but chose not to.

  • Please i want to upgrade my version to 8.0

  • what about your battery life , screen on time? are u satisfied?

  • T mobile owners of s7, have u received android 8 update or not. Thanks.

  • on 23/07/2018 Orea update arrived for G930U (Unlocked)

  • I have the Att s7. I got the Oreo update like a month ago.

  • I already have it

  • Same question, when will we receive the oreo update for s7 g930u model ? Anybody know ?

  • when Samsung s7 USA get its Oreo update?

  • What carrier in Canada are you using? Does your S7 cover all the frequency bands? Are you getting good reception/coverage?

  • I am experiencing the same thing as you however as far as I am reading some articles about battery drain after update to Nougat it actually exist neither Snapdragon 820 or exynos variant all I can say is since Samsung included a device maintenance for the phone you can see it under settings/ device maintenance you can choose battery life performance i set mine to Mid it will give you at least 12 to 13hrs of battery but keep in mind it depends on how you use it you can also customize it the way you want it. Me I use mine heavily when I`m home and got nothing to do because the charger is just around the corner on my way to work I use it a bit heavy by playing some games while on the way and at the same time listening to music by the end of the day i get home with 40 to 30% battery thats better i believe. compared before I`m on my 15% and thats half way going home. plus make sure all the apps you don`t use put it to sleep so it does not hog battery performance matter of fact set it all to auto sleep then just use it only when you need it.

  • excuse me, 2 months ago i have bought s7 for USA version and i got T-mobile. i was live in indonesian, i have a question is the s7 T-mobile version which used Snapdragon 820 have draining battery issues? because my phone have that issues and please tell me the solution to fix this issues. thanks a lot

  • I just got my s7 yesterday and I did not know it's a US version.. till I boot it up.. I live in Canada and this T mobile version works great. Unfortunately the only way to take out those bloated apps from T mobile is to root it up. So I just disabled them Instead of rooting.. I held the exynos variant and it's a bit better in terms of performance. Snapdragon chipset has tendency of lags from time to time.

  • I've a s7 t mobile pre owned device running nougat. I'm unable to connect it to computer using data cable on windows 10. I've used multiple cables, changed device developer option to media transfer, tuned on device visibility. But on connect I can only see charging option. No other option is viable at all. Any suggestions please. Thanks.

  • Thanks for the update. There are lots of areas on band 17 and hopefully interoperability will work everywhere.

  • I know this phone is old news by now. Just people make sure your Android is updated to at least the 7.0. Comes out of the box with 6.0.1. Install Samsung Kies if you have to and do it from your PC. Other than the S8 with it's Asymetrical infinity display and the SoC 835 processor, the 7 is the same phone. The 930-A also just lacks the LTE 700 (Band 17) for AT&T. Not a dealbreaker though.

  • also confirmed to operate on 4g lte bands 38, 39 and 40

  • s7 does have the radio chip installed, probably just didn't work for the reviewer with his third-world cell service. both s7 and s7 edge have radio issues depending on the carrier's restrictive OS variant

  • I have galaxy SM-G930V from Verizon-. but I am not fully satisfied. because it has poor audio quality and no FM Radio Option. Disgusting.

  • It would be a more complete description if the mhz etc were listed.

  • I got the sm g930v but it works perfectly

  • Download the verizon assistant via verizon officiel web site

  • HOW Many galaxy s7 models do we have .....?

  • Just got my self a G930V. I'm wondering, can I flash the latest Nougat stock rom via Odin? Because I can't see any "Update Device" at all. I don't wanna stuck at Android 6.0 forever. And if I perform it, would I face any difficulty if I'm using it outside of USA? Your kind feed back are much appreciated.

  • I bought a S7 g930A from AT&T , but it did not come with the preloaded microsoft suite and therefore I can't access the free 100GB in onedrive ..... why?

  • is it possible to use this mobile in india by flashing global rom

  • Try Call Recorder google play store, works fine.

  • I have the Galaxy S7 J700FD android but require call recorder that works. Can you recommend any and settings. On my previous S4 mini it worked perfectly without issues. Thanks

  • did someone get nougat update on s7 at&t .. plz help me out??

  • hi everyone m having s7 at& t .its nice fone bt i want to know tht can ths phone will get nougat update in pakistan ?? help me out in ths regard

  • My divice Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930U (black model) is te best movil in the market, I loved because is very fast to conecte at internet wifi etc, he cant work under water most than 30 min, he proved for me. Good quality ang good price. Dont not think, buy now. Thank SAMSUNG for your divice.

  • Band 17 is replaced now by the Band 12, since FCC forced AT&T to allow interoperability.

  • The LTE specs for the G930P are missing. Basically are the same like the R version plus the TD-LTE band 41. The system shows only 3.5GB of the 4GB because the OS is a 32 bit Android, not a 64 bit.

  • Can any one told me i have a Galaxy S7 930A AT&T Version. But it shows 3.5 GB of RAM not 4GB. Why???

  • Canadian vrsn starts with C not K.. & European vrsn starts with E as u know

  • What about Band 17 for AT&T ?

  • that model doesn't support band 12? in spec is showing to have one, maybe there is option to enable it??

  • USA phones support LTE Band 12 which is used for VoLTE and WiFi Calling. I'm currently have a SM-G930FD which is European Dual-SIM and I'm not able to use WiFi-Callingfrom T-Mobile.

  • USA Version- Qualcomm chipset Europe-Exynoss chipset

  • What's the difference between kanadian version and European version.... Please i need to know

  • anyone having problem with multitasking? i dont feel 4gb ram in this phone compared to iphone and lg, s7 cant handle multiple apps

  • premium device. love the quality build and look. one of the few bright spots for samsung at the current time.

  • I can't go on play store, e-mail, google play, nowhere .. Whenever i go, asking me for a pin code.. Wtf ? Pin code of what ?

  • Whats the price of usa

  • Ii have this phone is a great phone for the exception of the battery life sucks doesn't lat all day like it should about 4 or 5 hours I then have to charge it up again .

  • I have this phone on Tmobile, Its a nice phone, really fast and it handles everything very well.Tmobile is very good at pushing out updates thus far, we shall see if that changes. The one thing i want to add is that tmobile enabled the radio functionality here in the usa so it does have that ability. If you purchase this phone i highly reccomend a good durable case for it.

  • Got a Samsung s7 10 days ago , was so much excited for my new s7 , but in some points it's not good . Like they gave us 4 gb RAM, more than normal .. but poor management for this huge RAM, after install many applications and multitasking RAM reduced to 500 MB only , they saved some RAM as reserved , still very poor management in this s7 for RAM , battery is working fine , but if u use it while gaming and texting , chatting on Facebook,(multi-tasking) battery drains quickly, have Huawei honor 6 , with 3 gb RAM , working so perfectly in everywhere ,,, Well,, not too much impressed from this s7

  • Why there is no SAMSUNG logo in front side?

  • Read it here:

  • so get htc 816. best quality, best result, best camera, best selfie. best cdma+gsm phone.

  • go for honour holly 2 plus

  • Samsung Galaxy S7 (CDMA), uses GSM and CDMA. Versions: G930A (AT&T, Cricket); G930P (Sprint, Boost, Virgin Mobile); G930V (Verizon); G930T (T-Mobile, Metro PCS); G930R (US Cellular) Samsung Galaxy S7 doesn't use CDMA. Versions: G930 (USA); G930F (Global); G930FD (Southeast Asia). Also known as Samsung Galaxy S7 Duos with dual-SIM card slots

  • I want cdma/gsm compatible phone

  • I don't see the 4G bands listed for the Sprint variant which is G930P. Will this info get updated?

  • What does it use? RUIM or nano-UIM?

  • Does it charge wireless like note 5?

  • Such a good phone.

  • This Model is supported 2 network and use 2 sim? Then I want it.

  • Mi 5 will head on head with this

  • What's your problem? That's not the phone for you. It is an operator specific device. IF you don't want it, you can always get the regular unlocked version. Who's stopping you? And there's nothing to be confused about. It doesn't have any different specs anyways.

  • why can they do a dual sim 1 sim for cdma/gsm and the other for gsm both 3g that would be superb like HTC done

  • Frustrating, no more Infrared port!

  • With regards to CDMA Phone an GSM especially today wherein most phones are now 4G LTE Compatible both technology will require phones to have sim cards and Technology of the sim cards will differ as well. CDMA Phones will have CDMA sim card and GSM Phones will have GSM Sim cards

  • The Reason why there are different versions of the phone is that different carrier offers differnet Technology. For Example AT&T and T-Mobile offers GSM Technology while Verizon Offers CDMA Technology. Which means if you are going to purchse a phone through the carrier which is Verizon you cannot use the phone though AT&T or T-mobile because of the difference with regards to the technology. Furthermore, they used different types of sim cards GSM and CDMA sim cards. Phones that are through carriers are most of the time locked with that particular carrier. Different carrier's have their own policy with regards to terms and conditions in unlocking phones. Carriers will also add some features onto the phone some comes with apps that are pre-installed already per carriers terms. With regards to phone replacements, you will need to call you carrier for assistance/troubleshooting and so on. So that's the reason why there are differnet phone verisions and that depends on the carriers. With regards to apple, everything will go through Apple not the carrier and that includes troubleshooting and warranty even if you purchase the phone through a carrier. Carrier's cannot perform replacement phones/devices with Apple. You need to go through apple itself and thats the reason why there is only one version of the phone, weather it is CDMA or GSM but still incase the Phone is purchase through a carrier, you will still follow their unlocking policy. Specially if the phone is undercontract.

  • GSMArena is a directory for phone specs. So they have to include separate page for CDMA version of 'Galaxy S7'.

  • I'm not sure why gsmarena added another version of galaxy s6 because there is no difference between them except one is tied to a certain carrier (cdma) and has no need for sim card while other one isn't tied to anything and needs a sim card. I'm not really sure about other differences so I didn't write them.

  • here come the versions. wtf is the deal with shamesung and so many versions. y cant they put all bands in one like the BIG apple

  • What is mean by CDMA? Can someone explain or tell me?
