This is most probably because you tried to use a duplicate (non original) battery on the phone. This somehow causes corruption and screen becomes white with colored lines. To solve - put the original battery back, plug the usb cord into a pc and leave it to charge overnight. At some point it should revert back to normal.

The touch screen of my imate jamin is not working. i mean the upper right corner has no sensitivity at all. the entire lower screen alignment is faulty. i gave it to service centre, where they replaced the screen with a new one. but still the problem is persisting. The [no ringer] problem is quite common. i used to have a jamin and had the same problem. i had to get a part replaced and it never was the same again. it was a great phone before that problem but afterwards....well lets just say i was glad to get a Nokia later! it really got on my nerves.. i wish it had a faster processor and DEFINATELY needs the video features removed as its clearly incapable of recording or playing them back without skipping

Imate Jamin is really overrated,we have no support whatsoever in south africa and we have actually found out after acquiring the phone that the factory has closed down. Struggled for almost 6months to get the internet settings etc. Totally dissapointed.

If you are technically inclined, remove the antenna cover and check the two prongs that are the contacts for the antenna. They should be sort of springy and make good connection to the contacts on the circuit board underneath. Mine was bent, and one of the prongs made no contact at all, resulting in the same thing you are talking about.

well.....my opinion on this fone is divided... on 1 hand this phone totally rocks......with its sleek looks and shape.its versatile and well built. on the -ve side..the battery life is poor,and its size is a hinderance.....and less said abt its connectivity the better.i dont get any signal when im in my hostel room... all in all....its a fonw ith plus and negative sides....depends on perso to person..

Dear sir I bought 2 years before I mate jamin and I used almost two months there was a problem of sound I brought to service center they made good and return to me after that 6 months later again repair also I pay 300 sr to Repair now I use but daily when ever we want to call its not function once restart its ok like daily many times I have to do the same practice also I recomend to my friends they are also bought even not happy why this particular systems are failure others are no complaint. Hi Peyman..You can reset your phone by going to the clear storage option available in the settings menu. Remember it will delete all Data so take backup appropretly..

i mate is like a black hourse needs someone to deal with....1st step try to format the memory card by pc then 2nd step after insertion the memory card to the slot try to make a gentle pressure by the stylas to push the card against either walls...then check weather card reconised by pocket pc...try it it sometimes work.

Dear n3eB: Greetings! Your knowledge on technical aspects of computing seems very sound. I need help. I was using my JAMin since two years w/o any problem. However, a week back, I turned the device off and the next morning when I turned it on, it started getting stuck at the boot up stage, i.e where the blue screen showing the i-mate logo appears. I have tried all methods including the hard/soft reset, going to the boot loader stage and reinstalling the software but it is giving the same problem. I showed it to i-mate authorized dealer and they said to replace the whole board, which is insanely expensive and doesnt seem logical. Do you have any idea as to what could have gone wrong and any suggestions to get it repaired cheaply? I reside in Pakistan. If u wish u can contact me thru email: [email protected]. the most important thing in order to transfer your photos and videos to ur PC is to have a USB cable to be connected to ur mobile device and a software to synchronize ur Files. but if u dont have these, it can still b done. if ur phone have a memory card, transfer ur files to memory card inserted in ur phone,and then use a memory card reader to transfer ur photos and other files to ur PC.i hope this will help.

Read this about prophet and you will find that prophet isn't sloww as it speaks: Omap 850 is a dual core chip solution + 2d graphical chip. 1st core is an arm926 core clocked at 195Mhz and it gives around 215Mips. It is used to operate with aplications' commands etc. 2nd core is a multi-core containing arm7 core at 47,5Mhz and TI3500 DSP at 100Mhz and they give around 300Mips. They are used in heavy calculations such as sound, video, 3d and 2d graphics and gsm signals(they ate a lot of Mips). If any core is overburdend it uses help from other core. intel's 416 processor has around 530Mips. you can turnoff the phone function, i think it should speed up video and sound processing such as gaphics. I have prophet, and it didn't disapoint me. Sorry for bad english, if there is one.

JAMin is a good phone when the hardware part is concerned. But its software is not upto the standard. And i-mate doesnt release a WM6 ROM upgrade either. I got a new WM6 ROM from XDA forum and flashed my phone. Its pretty faster, with all new features. My ROM is called shadow vista aero, and I did a Hard SPL too. Now flashing into WM 6 is so simple, thanks to all the senior members of XDA forum. So go for WM6, and get the best use from you i-mate JAMin. Regards.

It's a good phone given the fact it is effectively old technology. Go onto XDA-Developers and upgrade it to wm6 it's a shame IMATE don't release a proper version for this phone. It actually fixes many of the issues people have complained about. The Battery is the biggest issue. There is a jumbo 2500mah battery available. or google for extended Jamin Battery.

i changed the Caller Id setting(under Start --> Phone --> Menu --> Options --> Services --> Caller ID):Provide my Caller Id to: No OneAfter that, a pop-up appeared " Registering settings on the network" and all my outgoing calls were barred. I have been using JamIn for the last two year. I can not change since i paid lots of money for it. It looked fancy. I will never by an iMate again. It is good as organizer, internet surfing ONLY. As a phone it is useless due to: 1- Very very poor sound quality. 2- Useless camera. 3- Very slow for all functions. 4- Poor internatioanl standards. E.g. Bluetooth. great as a PDA - calendar, notes, things to do, ability to upload and change ringtones are awesome. Easy to get wifi at airports etc. The sound is absolute rubbish - I often dont hear it ringing (at full volume) when in my pocket, and I often miss sms alerts. Sound quality is poor. The camera is next to useless. Windows is stable, and the phone reception is average, but never any problems with compatibility when roaming. I am happy with my increased productivity and having info at my fingertips, but as a phone it is awkward compared to non PDA offerings. I wouldnt buy one again. I ended up swapping from a quality, usable phone, to a hybrid computer phone, and it still annoys me. But I no longer need a PDA in one pocket and a phone in the other. That is a benefit. You need the stylus to sms or input info - no good for one handed use unless you use voice tags.

It is a known problem with the Jamin-most of the time the issue of no sound seems to happen after the rom update has happened. you should still be able to cliam under warranty!

hi guys, i have been using i mate close to a year. i usually change my mobile every year. but with imate i have to make a exception. though there are a lot of people say it has got so many problems i feel its usually due to lack of knowledge about how to handle this mobile rather than anything. there are some problems with this mobile which is glaring like speaker is unstable. camera quality is poor and depends on a lot on adequacy of lighting and how steady your hand is, little complex for heavy texters, lack of hard keys, fragile screen, sync problems occasionally, low battery life and so on... but for me these are all trivial issues compared to what the mobile has got to offer. every other thing works smooth and it is a balanced mobile for official purposes and also reasonable multimedia functions. i think i will go ahead with this mobile till a jammin version with windows 6 becomes available. rubeus

I have been using a Jamin for about 6 months. I have many apps. loaded & have not experienced many problems, although it is a bit slow. My main problem is the crappy sound quality; after all, this is also supposed to be a phone, but sound quality is terrible lacking volume and suffering from distortion & lousy tonal quality.

I have to say that whilst this phone is over all a great PDA, the speaker has really let me down twice thus making me think its a faulty design or poor quality parts. I would not recommend you get this phone only because the speaker fault which is a pain to get repaired.

I have had the Jamin since June last year and have been very disappointed with the build quality. Within a couple of months the speaker on the phone stopped working and now the phone doesnt ring anymore. I have had a few of these devices but this has by far been the worst one.

The only problem I have faced is that the screen automatically unlocks as soon as an incoming call is received. it is a good phone .... audio is really bad ... i was expecting the jamin to have a good audio system ... it failed terribly ... bluetooth wont work if screen is turned off .... the earpiece is so low ... i had to rely on the headset ... but couldnt be used at all times ... the old phone ringtone is the only full clarity sound in the whole of the imate jamin .... alarms are silent even though put at full volume ... and same goes for the reminders .... the audio part only sucks ... even after giving for a service ....

I have been using Win CE devices since the very first cassiopiea - E100 (If that was the correct model). My first PPC phone was HTC alpine (IMATE pocket pc). It was very gud. I used it for more than 3.5 years then changed it with this JAMIN. Its a VERY GUD device. GREAT improvement. I agree some devices have problems. like auto-damange of speakerphone speaker (secondary loud speaker) and screen alignment problems. But they do get repaired easily, and free if they are in warranty. Same happened with me and my cousin (the speakerphone stopped responsing), but we had it covered through warranty. The replacement ones are for $10 only in Pakistan. The device hangs and slows. Yes it should, use SPB Shell and pocket plus. Keep the sstorage and program capacities atleast 15 MB ffree each. If you do just all this, there aint no gud WM5 device in such this price. I still use this device as my primary standard issue gadget for a modern professional ;). I use Nokia N73 as my secondary entertaining smart phone. I will only replace this device if i like HTC touch. ASUS P535 or Imate Ultimate. BTW. for your probs visit this. I used to have the i-mate PDA2K and it was working great. The only problem was it's size, so after I wrecked it in saltwater I decided to buy the smaller i-mate JAMin. A big mistake. The earphone speaker is too silent. I have a very hard time hearing the person at the other end speaking and I do not have any hearing problems. But this is not the worst. I constantly have screen alignment problems. I have to align the screen nearly every day. It is a real paint in the neck if you try to select an item on the screen and it actually activates the item or letter beside it. I cannot recommend anyone to buy the JAMin.

Hi, I have JAMin - Alarm Tone doesnt stop - We did soft reset, Hard Reset, CMOS Update - finally it worked but the camera is very horrible+NO Flash, Speaker's - Waste, E-Mail setup is very easy but send & recieving - headache. Video - Play back not that good, Two Good things OEM CA AntiVirus & Games get Installed Quickly. I would rate 4/10.

This is my first PDA after using the HP200LX for almost 10 yrs. but died on me recently so forced to get a pda. Was not disappointed especially for battery life which was my first concern. Last me from 4 to 5 days normal use as a pda as I still use my mobile phone for calls. Even at 3% battery remaining it can still make/receive calls. Very stable & hardly hangs. As for speed, I would rather have long battery life, saves always charging.

Well ive had the new one for like 10 months now or something and yes the camera is crappy and the processor may seem sluggish sometimes but if given the chance to rethink my purchase, id buy it again!. Recently as Peter pointed out, after 10 months of heavy service its audio died without notice and i had to use vibrate. i just gave it back to be repaired, which they promised to do within 2 business days. ill go pick it up tonight. I bought this phone 4 months back. It is a wonderful phone. Owners shd know this: 1) there is some inherent problem with the speaker phone volume and i had to replace the chip. It was not too expensive, but the phone has been working perfectly since then. 2) screen alignment problems sometime are a hassle. They used to trouble me a lot in the beginning, but i have not had a problem for the last 2 months now. The screen responds perfectly to taps. I would suggest not use the Screen Lock feature and the transcriber. If you use the keypad (you can switch to bigger keys through a setting) regaularly, it will start working perfectly over time. 3) you need to explore the phone. There are a lot of wonderful options that make life simpler while on the move. You can open any application through a voice command. You virtually dont need to use the hand. But yes, the internal memory seems to be low. doesnt allow a lot of applications to be installed. You can, however always install new ones on the SD card. Overall, a nice phone.

overall look wise is a good phone, but the processor is very slow and if we store heavy ringtones the memory get occupied. big draw back. less battery time. less internal memory. low speaker volume. less stable camera due to absence of flash. no fm radio. no stereo speakers. handsfree so outdated. call id picture so small and no software available to increase the size. any many more issues. but its a phone which can be used by a very expert sort of a person who can get in depth.

I bought my Imate Jamin six months ago. First months was to learn phase how to use it. If you want to use your phone by one hand, it is not for you. (especially in traffic, you can not talk or answer). Screen alignment problem killed me after two months and still same. It was 800 USD when I bought and now nobody pays 200 USD. i use this device. when i lock it, the phone part can not ring out. if device is turned off, the lock is automatically unlocked. the problem i am having is that if i accidently hit one of the buttons on the front the phone auto dials out. is there any way to make the device such that even if it is turned off, that to make a call you have to unlock the device. i need to have the phone part on all the time to receive calls so do not want to turn off the phone part of the device

Rest I have been using this ppc mob for last 6 months and performance is wonderful, keeping in mind the specifications this set was designed. i don't know what to say, of course it's an amazing PocketPC but it's really has a lot of problems and some of them are mentioned before : - screen alignment : the screen doesn't correctly recognize your click on it. i solve this problem by not using the Unlock option and the phone works well - when i used softwares like SpbTime, Spb Pocket Plus the alarms (of the pocket pc not the SpbTime) goes crazy, i make them all off but they are working till now !!! - SPEAKER GOES OFF : it doesn't work and when i press on it, it works and goes off again. please help me in this issue. anyway, i like this phone very much, although all of these problems. I think there're some kind of people who would like a phone like this, if u r one of them buy it, else u will hate it.

Most troublesome phone I've ever had. Main problem: screen needs to be realigned at least 10 times a day! Very frustrating. The red "Call end" button doesn't always work, the screen sometimes freezes. I don't recommend this phone at all

I have had to swap (for new)the JASMIN 4 times: 1. Stopped responding (despite ful reset, etc.) 2-4. Three times because problem with Screen alignment.... Finally, Mobile Co.(Telstra) said they would send the 5th one away for repair because...screen alignment. Still waiting after 3 months!!

Fantastic funtionality, really, great full function internet browser (IE), good camera, can view MSOffice and pdf files...BUT..the volume is really bad and you sturggle to hear people when there is any background noise...and I got a dead spot right in the middle of the touch screen after 6 months...if the volume and the screen were better, then this would be the perfect phone..also maybe if they had a numeric keypad at the bottom instead of the other buttons, so you can sms on the move.

Hi , I bought this PDA 6 months back . Occassionally its giving me screen allignment problems. The worst case is if you lock the device and the PDA's screen allignment changes, its almost impossible to unlock it . Another problem I am facing is the camera . Video is not coming out that good. I did not face any sound problems and I can tell that sound and it's quality is far better than Jam . Imate phones are more stable compared to ASUS or Intervideo ; however , the customer care is too sloppy.

Bought this jamin nov 2006, been in repair centre one month twice already didnt have it back till jan sent it back again --need to realign screen 4-6 times a day service centres are 2nd rate and shouldnt be called srevice centres because there is no service. It's one of the best units on the market. Unfortunately most of negative comments in this forum are just an indication of two things: 1. People don't want to read manuals. 2. Microsoft made a wrong judgment with the WM5. Most people believe that when they close window it will actually be closed. Instead it goes to background and remains in memory. As a result one ends up with low memory, reboot etc. It's by far the best phone/PDA combination I ever had.

Hi guys, I boght the JAMin in June 2006 and I think it is a great PDA. It has some problems though. The speaker is up to shit and the alarm is unreliable. I also think that Windows mobile is using a lot of the 128mb ram and the PDA runs short of memory. When you exit a program, it doesn't actually close it and that takes memory. Often you need to go to Setting>Memory>Running Programs and stop them from running. Is this a Windows Mobile or a JAMin problem? I don't know. I look forward to try the Nokia N95 Ciao

Please do not buy the JAMin. The speaker went dead all of a sudden. When I called Clubimate they told me to hard reset but did not solve the problem. They asked me to take it to Fono (Dubai Service) for warranty fix. I looked around the web and found that it seems to be a manufacturing defect. The speaker is placed where the SD Card slot is and gets disconnected. The imate web site make not mention of this. Someone should sue them

Man don�t even think about this item. I had it, it was a headache. Axiom in saudia even replaced my set but its speaker works fine for few hours and after that the ringing volume and all alerts are so low that you cant even hear it. Apart from that you cannot adjust fist say of the week to Saturday. If keypad is not locked and its in ur pouch, a minor press on the button and call is received.Over all I AM FEDUP OF IMATE. Trust me Please dont go for it !!!

Inorder to change your sms tone, do as follows. 1- Make sure the tone is in WAV format. 2- Copy the tone to WINDOWS in the Main Memory. 3- Go to Settings - Sounds & Notifications. 4- You will find it in the selections of the New Text Message. Enjoy..

I love my Jamin, I found that when i reboot it once every day or two it worked fine, I didn't need to align the screen nor did it run slow. One thing I couldn't learn to do is assign a message tone. I'm not too sure that that feature is available. The tones available are a little "chatty". Other than that it's a reliable and easy to use phone. Hope that helps :)

Hi, I like JAMin...the only problem I am facing is that its Ringtone volume...sometimes its high, sometimes its low(very low)....I checked all the volume controls, in all applications I have....everywhere, volume is at maximum...but still this machine automatically makes it up and down...it makes it too low that you hardly hear that your phone is ringing.... Hi: I wrote long time ago asking what was better....A JAM+WIFI CARD or JAMIN....nobody aanswered me so I finally bought the Jamin and I can say.: The main problem of this device, is that as It is a phone and practically a computer at tha same time, nobody asumes the responsability of its failures.....and for you, as an user (even as an very advanced one) it's impossible to make it work a 100%. I'll make myself clear....If you have problems getting your emails on the device, and you go to the people that sold the Jamin to you...they will say everything is related to the mobile service and its configurations....If you have problems syncronizing your data with you pc...of course the problem is te version of Windows that you have...or the last version of the ActiveSync...or any other thing....on you PC The thing is ....you can never have your device working with ALL features at the same time unless you spend nigths and nights checking the internet trying to get information on your problems... As many pleople only use a couple of features at the same time....Its never a huge problem..... Besides,. 1. The WIFI feature I almost never use, because it consumes too much energy, so the battery dries very fast. Instead I can connect to Internet and my POP3 Mail via GPRS. So basically I never use the WIFI. 2. The reception of Wireless networks is very poor. In my office I have a D-Link wireless router not even 5 mts away from my seat, and I only get 1 bar of reception in my Jamin. Imagine when you are in an Airport or Caffe..You are not secure about getting signal in every Wifi Spot. 3. The configuration of the Email (pop3) account took me more than a Month (And I'm used to technical issues on this type of equipment). At least in Chile, nobody seems to know how to make this thing work a 100%. 4. It's true that you have to use a BlueTooth headset, other wise, for long calls that make you ear swet, you can wet your device damaging the internal circuitry. 5. It usually dials the last number if you forget to lock it. 6. Now...It's not syncronizing with my notebook, It doesn't let me open the attachments in my emails...I have to save them in a specific direction in my card, and go there via the file explorer and open it from there. I can erase any photo in my device, copy it , or move it to a different direction..

OK so no one answered my questions regarding the Jamin. I went and bought the thing anyway. Coming from someone who has been carrying a PDA and a phone around for years, this is the best device I have ever encountered. Aside from some small problems, mainly setup and me being too stupid to figure it out, the device works fine. For those of you who insist on complaining about speed and battery life, just remember all the features that you carry around in your pocket. After all we are still only in 2006!!!!!! And now for one great tip, download True Toolbar from www.valksoft.com it is just the thing to keep your device from getting slow because too many apps are running in the background. Hey Guys, I got the JAMin about three weeks ago now. It's a fantastic device, works perfectly without a glitch.I need some help from the more experienced users here to see how I can make the most out of this beast: 1-) I wanted to listen to the MP3 player with my normal headphones so I bought a 2.5mm to 3.5mm convertor. But I realised that the convertor kept coming off because the original jack has 4 nodes (1 must be for the remote funtions) where the 3.5mm headphone jack has 3 nodes. Is there a solution to this problem? 2-)Is it possible to assign a custom ringtone for the incoming messages? I only found that you can pick from the list rather than library. 3-)Is there an electronic version of the manual for it so I can carry one in the phone itself? Thanks everyone.

I am trying to decide between the K-Jam and Jamin. My biggest concern is if I can rotate the screen on the Jamin to use it horizontally, and secondly, how easy is it to use, will I need the keyboard of the K-Jam.

I got a JAMin few months back. Its great except camera anc contact navigation. Camera is although a 2MP but not worth. In contact, if you want to delete a group, you have no choice and you have to delete them individually. If anyone know the option how to delete a group of contacts then plz let me know. Modem works within the set but when it comes to be used as external wireless modem with pc, it gives problems and different errors.

Hi: I have a friend that bought a JAM plus a WIFI card. The only thing that I didn't like about this como is that the wifi card came out of the phono about 2mm, and I tought you might get the card damaged on the use (i.e get stucked in a pocket). That how I ended up lookig at a JAMIN, that I understand that is almost exactly the same than the JAM, but comes with the wifi feature inlcuded, a better OP system, and a Slower processor...I hate when pograms freezes, or hang,,, what's better: 1) JAM+WIFI CARD U$ 550= Fast processor, bad OP system, wifi card coming out...or 2) JAMIN U$ 620 = Slow Processor, Best OP System, Wifi includen= no parts coming out...??? Do both of this units (JAM & JAMIN) come with the pocket office (excel,word,ppt) loaded?? im lash from Chile

Hi, Can someone tell me if there is a way to send a 'contact' through SMS. When writing a new SMS the 'Insert' function in the 'Menu' doesnt work?! Have been using the JAMin now for over 3 months. E-mail sync and web browsing is excellent and the connectivity features superb - however, of the 7 bought for my work collegues and I 2 have 'stopped' working as mobile phones (mine included). I've had my iMate JANin for 2 months now and I LOVE IT!!! This is the most brilliant thing ever made by man. No more getting angry while waiting in the car/restaurant/wherever for your girlfriend. Just pop open SimCity or Age of Empires and play for hours. Best thing is you don't have to explain why you're taking your PDA with on your date coz its your phone!!! HA HA HA. Not the fastest in performance but with a 1 Gig SD card you can have a movie, some MP3's and lots of applications with you on the go. I'm already used to the on-screen dialing and typing so I can use it to dial and send SMSs while driving without pain. (I know I'm not supposed to...) I really love this little phone and recommend it to anybody contemplating buying one! Haven't been disappointed once. Mousa Interesting about 65K and 256K screen. I have the JAMin with 65K touchscreen, my buddy has the SE P910 with 256K touchscreen. The JAMin is 3times crisper, clearer, vibrant than the SE P910. About 5 different people here are gonna get themselves the JAMin after seeing my JAMin. Compare for yourself on owrking models. It just proves, specifications don't tell the full story: The proof is in the pudding, and I love my pudding ;-)

Mousa....you are asking for a lot in 2006. 4Gig RAM...my pc has 512meg...trying to get another 512, to have 1Gig and I'm running graphics and CAD and G.I.S software. A little phone/ pda with 4gig RAM....holey moley!!!! No phone has that in 2006! I think a nokia has a little 4gig harddrive as normal mem, but not RAM! Remember a spinning harddrive eats batteries! Normal RAM, like built in and SD cards don't consume power like a spinning harrdrive. Remember: moving parts=wear 'n rear=unreliability. A top of the line notebook/laptop with 2gig RAM and a 80Gig harddrive might be what you need.

Mousa This is not the latest and greatest phone, the latest and greatest is the JASJAM. This phone is a few months old(7 or 8..unsure) This phone is great on features, it's small dimensions, excellent screen, but for 3G etc, take the JASJAM. It's also a question of price and value for money, this phone is excellent value for money, but not top-of-the-range. It's stable, fast, good battery life, good resale value...but it's up to you.

You go into a mobile phone shop, look at different phones, more specifically, you see phones with and without keypads/number pads (with and without plastic buttons). You decide to take one without a keypad, coz it�s thin, stylish, full of features, but no keypad and you make your decision to buy it. Now you are angry, coz you can�t save a received call instantaneously while driving on the road. Two issues, here: You shouldn�t be typing any text while driving, it�s illegal in every country I can think of, and you are placing other people in danger by performing such a stupid act. The phone has a call register, why not save it later when you are parked? Are you angry at yourself or the sleek, sexy, thin, stylish phone? If you wanted a keypad, there was 10 000 other run-of-the-mill-phones with keypads for you, like a Nokia 6111, with simple and ease-of-use menus and functions. THE PHONE DID NOT HAVE A KEYPAD TO START WITH�look at the box, the internet, the plastic mock-up�look at the real phone before you buy it. Or you could buy a phone with both, but be warned, the SE P800, P900, P910 had cracking and breaking problems on the keypads. P800: little blue �ears� on side of keyboard breaks off. P900/910: Keypad cracks in centre. Buy the JASJAM or KJAM As for typing a new number while walking (not driving-illegal and dangerous) : Press green �call� button once, magically the keypad-look-screen� appears with big enough numbered buttons to touch with your thumb, unless you have a HUGE thumb. Press the numbers, then the green button again, viola, a call is being made, with the stylist still snugly stored away ;-)

Thanks, but one hand operation im afraid not!!!,Lets say as unlikely as it may be you want to call a number you dont have stored in your contacts!! you are in fact bound to using the pen unless of course you have mitiscule fingers. Thats not magic thats voodoo!! Again the autosave 1 step process is non existent, you are bound to the pen, so pull the car over, unbuckle, pull out your vodoo pen and live in servitude to your phones time wasting construct. 2 megapixels is prehistoric, unless you run a business to vision impaired people ..he he ie Nokia n80 is a t least 3.megapixels is a much better bet!! and lastly the baclight feature does not respond to any of the front navigating buttons it means grappling with the on/off button and if you want battery life then you cant turn that off, in fact id like to know how you can turn that feature off alltogether, nope this $1200.00 phone is ergonomically brain dead, sorry1! folks!!

Hi Phillip Dialling out is so cool: hold phone in right hand, left hand in your left pocket or holding your coffee, now Press on contacts(small white line below screen) with right thumb: Magically the contact list pops up... Now hold the down part of the "round-navigator-button" in .... magically you start scrolling through your contacts....after about 2 seconds, the alphabet letters A,B,C, D...appears in sequence...hold your thumb on the "down" till you get to the letter your friends name is stored under...say.."K" Now let go, press again to scroll down the names/surnames starting with "K". When you are on the name, press the green button or silver select button. One thumb operation...NICE!!!!!!!!! HEY??? If you received a call and want to save the new number, just save it...the menu is there! I never used the transcriber on my SonyErr phones, coz my "e" is way to ugly to be recognised by any software anyway, so don't sweat it, the screen-keyboard is way better! Set your battery warning! All phones light their backlight when menus aare pressed, so does this one...if the battery is flat, charge it with the charger or the magic-usb cable charger(supplied) on your pc... Excellent 2mp camera and video capture and pplayback is good for me...screen is crystal cclear.

So your jamin phone rings, you fiddle unclipping buttons and accept calls easily enough. But try dialling out!! The virtual keyboard is useless which means you are a slave to using the pen for basic phone functions!! Where is the autosave feature?? non existent and the transcriber program has a mind entirely of its own !! the power down button is useless as you cannot use any feature on the phone without lighting it up with the rhs button,without choosing a permanent on zero battery life function!! This is a useful business tool let down by a crappy camera, crappy phone and an extremely crappy video sorry!!!!

Dear anonyms I understand that, not every set is perfectly suited to the imagination. But still the biggest factor hurting me is the re-sell value, and now my set got the speaker change� I value declines dramatically. As I said. Speaker problem is not wid every hand set. But its there in every 15 � 20 set. Anyway thankz the suggestion on how to zoom in. I still say ! i-mate JAMin is 50 / 50 machine by far.

Synchronization is excellent, mine works while I'm permanently online with our mailserver and networkserver and internetserver and connected to 7 different printers/plotters. I'm constantly working on our LAN and my JAMin synchronises every-time! If you set the resolution to 1.3mp you can zoom, at 2mp it auto-focuses and it has a micro(close-up shots) and normal setting. Excellent value for money with MEGA features. I have a real digital still camera with a real flash to take night pics...with OPTICAL and digital zoom. If you really know anything about cameras....you know digital zoom doesn't mean much.Optical zoom is important To be honest, a 1.3mp camera would have been fine for me, as I use my real-digital-still camera as a "camera" My JAMin's ringer is excellent, the rear-loudspeaker has slight distortion when set on FULL VOLUME, but as with my hi-fi and car radion, when there is distortion, I turn it down from FULL to say 80% and guess what?..I can hear no distortion, and all that needs to be heared. I actually like it, because when someone calls with a bad microphone on his phone, I can "CRANK-UP" the volume to compensate for the "Other" phone's soft mic. Thus...the speaker is just perfect for a person who understands the difference between audible sound and distortion. It's excellent on mp3's...I'm happy, the earphones have excellent quality as well. "..speaker phone burst off" what did you do? weird? yeah take it in and play the same song to the agents, maybe you want 50db of base from a half inch speaker...good luck. Again...I'm happy...really and content...etc.. If you don't like it, please spare yourself the grief and sell it, then go out and get the phone you want. If one guy is happy with his 330iBMW and the next guy isn't...sell it, buy a Merc SLK55. Don't hang on to your 330iBMW and hate it coz it's not as fast as a SLK55. Buy the SLK55 and be happy and be happy with the higher price...don't complain coz it's not a Bugatti Vereyon, coz that's more expensive.

Well Well ! this JAMin is 50/50 machine, i have been using it for couple of weeks now. Design and features are excellent on paper. but using curtain features on phone is one hell of a job. Synchronization is very typical, it wont work once another network connection is already enabled on the machine, that means any LAN or Dial-Up connection. So first connect your deivce then activate your LAN or Dial-Up. Phone Book is poor of JAMin. Comparatively to Moto V3x or Nokia N series phone. There is no such feature to select multiple entries in phone book to copy the contacts to SIM memory at once. You need to do it one by one, by going to edit > menu > copy to SIM. Camera of JAMin ! Big WOW - 2.0 mpx, without any ZOOM and flash. LOL. Fine its a business mobile, but y i-mate have this Sologan "for business - for plessure - for life", it must be only "FOR _ _ _ _ _" !!! IMPORTANT !!! JAMin got this problem of Ringer and Loud speaker not working. I am facing the same problem and i discuss this with few mobile pros, they said JAMin have this manufacturing fault in many hand sets, if you keep the volume of your device and phone MAXimum and you use it frequently for listen music on device,"which i tense to do alot" it means usage of speaker phone is frequent, then the speaker phone burst off(out of order). i took my phone for the warranty, they said speaker phone needs to change and set will be opened. i have spend aprrox: USD 550$ for this JAMin (brand new). In my opinion if you still like JAMin, then go get a set without warranty or second hand device. Hi everyone Choosing a phone: I chose the JAMin coz it's so thin!!! The keyboard phones are MUCH thicker, if you are gonna use it a lot every day, fine, I type an sms once in 3 days, so the tap screen is fine for me. Skype...have not used it, can't tell you anything. Processor: 200mghz...doesn't mean much to me, coz the applications opens and closes fast enough for me, another 1/10th of a second faster won't make me spend another USD500 on any phone. fax service: Not using it yet. active sync settings on my JAMin: Start programs- active Sync-menu-connections: mine has 'USB in the rectangular block and a tick in "Synchronise all PC's.... then under menu-options-settings In "friendly name" is written Windows PC If there is conflict: Replace the item..... Event logging: None under menu-options tick what you want sync-ed. Calibrating screen, mine is fine- take it back, it has a guarantee. Hope this helps..

NEED HELP URGENTLY PLEASE!! Is anyone experiencing "ALIGNMENT" problems with their JAMin?? What I mean is if I tap on a certain item, another item pops up. Similarly, while using the keyboard, tapping a certain key (example I) would result in P being written on the screen. Re-aligning the screen isnt solving the problem..it corrects the malfunction only for a short while. If anyone is facing a similar problem do let me know asap. thanks.

Comparing Imate KJam, Jamin or P990. i think quality wise all the way sony ericcson P990 is the best. only thing it lacks is that it is not Microsoft operating system ( if you are intrested in microsoft) other wise it is very stable PDA with best camera among all other PDAs.

2mp pictures are excellent! It even has a "micro" setting for close-up pics!!! Video quality is also excellent. If sonyE was 100%, this would be 99.99%. I don't see the difference.

@ Arash The speaker volume is fine, it is not Overly loud...to be 100% honest, in a VERY VERY noisy environment, you might battle to hear, but at home, in the office, in the car, walking in the street with normal background noise, the sound is excellent and clear. The loudspeaker at the back: When playing mp3's, the sound quality is very good, when receiving a call and putting that call on handsfree, there is a chance of distortion if your volume is at full, just slide the volume down a bit, then magically the distortion goes away and the person's voice is quite audible. I rarely use that function anyway, as I have bluetooth when driving and keep the phone against my ear when talking normally- I don't like public conversations and talking loudly to a phone lying on my desk, it's fine pressed against my ear. The earphones have Excellent sound when listening to mp3's. The 2gig card is a little expensive here in South Africa...maybe next year.. Peace out....

Jamin and S200 are the same. Both made by HTC. Mp3 player is good. I have a 2GB SD card that works fine and holds heaps of mp3's. I have had this device for 1 month now and am very happy with it.

Hi everyone I got the JAMin. Excellent pocket pc/ phone!!!! Thinner and shorter than SE P800/P910!! Nice and sleek and thin and stylish...I just get complements, before the people see the screen and menus and features....etc.. GUESS WHAT??? WHILE CONNECTED TO YOUR PC VIA THE USB-CABLE...IT CHARGES ITSELF THROUGH THE USB CABLE!!!! You don't need an extra charger for the office!!!!...COOL!!! Voice dialing should work, I haven't tried voice commands yet. Mike and speaker vol is fine!!! Handsfree speaker is overly loud(some distorsion), but I'm trying to think how many times I used handsfree on my old SE-P800... In 2,5 years...maybe 4 times. Now I use it normally(against ear) or bluetooth...I don't need handsfree anyway, so if it's too loud or too soft, would depend on your surrounding noise. But I'm pretty sure, you can set the volume of the speaker down as to minimise distortion. Maybe it can go SO LOUD to compensate for other inferior phones with low mic volumes...coz then we will complain that handsfree is too soft. So, people, if it is too loud(distorted) - turn the volume down a bit...that's what my logic tells me. If I would upgrade soon for whatever reason, I'll look at the K-Jam, but I'm verrrrrry happy with my JAMin. Cheers....

I am getting around 3 days out of my Jamin. This is with medium emailing and internet use. I mainly use this phone for email and internet use and do not use it for phone calls. A great device with great features. I am very very happy with it.

Some info: I dropped my JAMin this morning on the paving at my house. The phone landed on the corner where the stylis and power button is. got a nasty scratch over both, but phone is rock solid. Oh yes..the battery cover clicked loose, but I slid it back and it clicked in. No damage that I can report on.

I tried copying the custom *.wav files to the windows folder of JAMin...The list of *.wav files gets updated in the drop down list of wave files for Alarms and messages. However when I select that particular *.wav files to play and set it as message tone or alarm tone, it does play neither gives any error. Can anyone please help me with this problem? Also Activesync doesn't seem to establish the connection when connected via bluetooth...it keeps on saying "connecting" but never connects. I'm using WinXP SP2. hi everyone i had used p910i,n70 nokia and now jamin,i must say its a great pda with a bit slow procesor ,the only down side is that its a windows system and like any windows its unreliable and have bugs ,but all these problems r fixed when u restart,or do the master reset(which is hardly required if u do not installed unsafe softwares). so the punch line is buy it u will enjoy it

To Nick : Yes the device can be used as an MP3 player and its got one of the finest headsets among all phones. MP3's can be used as ringtones ,provided you know which folder should the file be copied to.

Somebody explain this to me: Press and Hold the center key on the keypad and tab and hold(for 2 seconds) the empty space between the start and connectivity tabs on the screen.let go of both. Watch what happens. This really is a 007 phone. Also press and hold the center key on the keypad and tab and hold the clock.....see the RUN option? This is not just a feature on the Jamin. I have tried it on many Pocket PC's and they all are the same.

@ Srini I put a Kingston 1Gig SDcard in and it worked first time. Check if the little lock switch is in the open or unlocked position. Test the card in another device, like a Pentax camera or Samsung phone or one of those multi-card-readers. It could be a faulty card, but if it works in other devices, the handset could be faulty. Be advised that a 1gig card only gives approx 990Meg of useable memory, it's like all storage devices...always slightly less than what it says on the packet/sticker.

@ JR You got a cable, use the cable, it draws less power than having the bluetooth on. I use the usb cable and am able to navigate to the phone or directly to the SD card. I only sync every now-and-then anyway, so if your usb port is at the rear of your pc, keep the cable plugged in.

hi all, i am using this phone from last 3 months using 512 mb memory card & it is working superb, i have no complains except the movie recording is not good and have short screen recording not like jam full screnn recording, is there any way to do it recording in full screen & with a better quality like jam. I've been using the JAM 850 for well over a year, all over the U.S. and in Mexico, before and after the AT&T/Cingular switch, with no problem. The JAMin is an upgraded version, which is why I'm getting it, and how I saw the question in your post. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Hi Leah, I dont know wt u mean by Noraml Mode... But if u r getting errors with everyting when soft reset it.. or best will be to backup ur contacts and other usfel infos/files on ur device and FORMAT it.. go to settings and click on clear storage. Saad

I've just acquired a Jamin... second one to be exact... the 1st was returned to the manufacturer after a day. I've had this one for 2 days now. The Good: - Size... fits in the palm nicely. Good stylus - Feel... very tactile finish. good build quality - Screen... bright and clear - Comms methods... IR, BT, USB, WiFI, Edge The no so good... but okay: - CPU... not super fast but will do - OS... Windows Mobile... hey... Windows 3.1 was also icky. Long way to go but okay. - ActiveSync... does appear to like Bluetooth. Is a known issue. No solution yet. The bad: - Speakerphone... awful! just can't use it. Significant distortion. - Microphone... when used as a speaker phone the caller reported that the sound levels faded in and out. Also electronic hissing was very evident when voice pitch is high. - Ear Speaker... low volumes even at max. You will struggle in a noisy environment. - Call connection... not stable. Calls dropped out where my Samsung D500 held firm. - Missed Calls?!?... not too sure about this but I appear to be getting A LOT of missed calls without hearing the handset ring... Had it for 3 days so can't say for sure. Perhaps explained by the next point... - Phone app... come on Microsoft... you can do better. Tedious... and slow. All in all... could be an awesome device... if you don't call alot. I do! and it just doesn't work for me. Looking for an alternative... Come on Sony Ericsson... the P990 is taking far too long... actually so is the PS3 from Sony... hey! common thread!

I have my I-mate Jamin working on Cingular (usa). It is fantastic! I, unfortunately (waste of time and money), tried the Eten m600+ and there is absolutely no comparison with anything that is important. There is no significant change in performance (maybe a bit noticable loading a program the first time- once loaded, seems as fast as m600). My I-mate works flawlessly with our corporate Exchange Direct Push email, the Bluetooth works perfect with a Moto earpiece and actually works as expected with my 2005 BMW Bluetooth (downloads contacts; can activate using BMW's voice system)! I chose to purchase Microsoft's Voice Command which makes my Bluetooth phone functions work as I want them to!!! The only thing I found that I don't like is the Clearview PDF viewer. I can't seem to uninstall it so I can use Adobe's. But that is really pretty minor. I rate this a 10!

hey walid, jus remove ur battery n keep ur phone ideal for 0.5 hr and after that jus reload ur battery. then the system will start frm its default settings... then u can use ur phone as usual. one thing u've to remember is that never try to restore anyting frm ur old memory card. change it if posble or make a format. hope this will sort out ur issue...

I've tired using jabra's hands free on my imate jam and it didn't work i am not sure about this model. you can only use to make calls and when i tried to pair devices to listen my mp3 NOPE it won't work the way it works with nokia phones. I had to use the hands free that comes with i mate jam

im sorry i forgot the mention the very few negatives about the phone... infact, there is only 1.. the battery life is around 24 hours with heavy use and with standby it is about 48 hours...according to all the battery details it is supposed to be 150 hours during standby...however the heavy use battery life is slightly better than the amount written... concerned to speed that many people are asking about on the internet...it is good...wht i mean is that a 416 Mhz would be like driving a ferrari, but it is good enough to drive a Mercedes... overall i am satisfied with my phone...if u want to go for a windoes mobile, i would advise this one...

i just got my i-mate jamin yesterday. its absolutely wonderful. workds 100% correctly...dont listen to all the rumors aroud the internet, cause there all wrong! imate jamin does not reset every 5 minutes...neither is it slow...i think its just perfect. i have used many imate devices before(i.e. JASJAR, PDA2, PDA2K, PDA-N, SP3i, SP5m, but i think that the best of all was the JAMin...if u want to go for teh imate brand, or a pda with a phone built in, go for it....imate jamin is the best option u got!!! By the way, does anybody know if skype works on this...ive heard u can clock the processor speed upto its required, has anyone tried it?? if yes please post reply on this area...i will come here and check later...

nishir, i had a look at the specs of both devices, the imate JAMin and the Atom. Well wht i would say is that it depends.... everything is similar except the processor speed. Atom has 400 Mhz while JAMin just has 200Mhz. if u use applications like skype, than i would advise Atom, btu if u want it just fro normal use and a good phone, than i would advise JAMin.

WE ALL HAVE JAMin... ***JAMin ROCKS*** umer, the speed is good. it is not amaizng just good. i was expecting it to be faster, but it is the same speed as my Nokia N70, N80, N90, N91. I have all of these phones at the moment. JAMin is probably slightly faster than all fo them. All of teh otehrs have similar speed.

I have had this smartphone (imate JAMin)for about a week....and absolutely love it...however it has a fmajor law..after the FIRST TIME using the audio jack with the headphones provided....the external speaker did not work. How oxymoronic...a phone that doesn't ring!!!!. Anyway TOPP solutions in Miami Florida has had it for repair about 9 days and I'm waiting to get it back. I'll post the results of the repair.

I'm getting a little bored with all the comments from people making judgements without trying the device or doing any research. And with people making ridiculous demands of the manufacturer: "Why doesn't it have a 256k colour screen instead of a 16k colour screen?" "Why doesn't it have a radio?" "200Mhz is a much smaller number than a 400MHz processor therefore it must be much slower right ?" "Why doesn't it provide me with a deep tissue massage everytime it rings?" Really people... Look around first: The Texas Instruments OMAP 850 processor is a completely different architecture to the previous processors in these devices, so in reality the megahertz rating means nothing.

So, to me it does not seem to be a question between the imate jamin and the k-jam BUT rather between imate jamin and the imate black. The only differences are: - windows 5 (Not sure what major improvements they have introduced) - EDGE (looks like it should have been 3G) - Processor (looks like its worse even though its dualcore) So, why should i spend more money on a new generation phone? Am i missing something here? Finally, who actually knows whether Skype works or not. If not then is this a limitation on the software or hardware side? Finanlly finally, if this is not the right phone then how long should we expect to wait before the next one comes out???

Hello all, I recently purchased a Qtek S200, and my understanding is that the device is the exact same thing that the I-mate Jamin. I am a I-mate user, and I found I-mate support fairly decent. They even replaced a JAM unit after more than 8 months. Of course you need a lot of charm and patience with their US support partners (and over a month of talking every other day with them). Qtek does not have ROM upgrades (or I can't find them) like I-mate does, and I am founding out that the newest Jamin firmware update is a great improvement in terms of speed and battery life. - Can I install that I-mate update on my Qtek?? - Since I can't register my unit on I-mate's site (EMEI would not match I-mate serials), could any Jamin user send me this latest update?? Hi ................., You are welcome, Ans 1: You have to install Real Player in order to run rm files. I think its freely available on their website. but I have a copy of it. Whenever u need it i can send it to u. Ans2: I dont talk too much, but i never had battery problem, (I charge it everyday). It depends on use, but i use it too much for playing mp3, internet, watching clips, plus 6-8 calls each of 3 mins average and it does abt 1 day. and there are many options available in the settings menu if u want to conserve battery. Yes there are some problems as u know noting is perfect. The problems that i get r slow speed n video 176x144. Well, I really hate nokias, I dont know your 'type of usage' but nokia and i-mate cannot be compared. anyways my email is [email protected] if u want to ask more questions. Saad,..................

The jamin is crap.Iam a big fan of i-mate.but i must say there is a big problem with WINDOWS 5.0 in the -k jam-jamin-. i bought the k-jam then jamin and now iam back to jam-black. Hi thr, Ans1. its sound is good but not loud like nokia. Ans2. Yes u can play any format like wmv, wma, mp3, avi,... but for more extensions u have to use TCMP player which is freeware and very good Ans3. Video is not good Ans4. Ans 1: Yes its good but not best, not loud as Nokias .(NOT best) Ans 2: Yes you can play, wav, wmv, wma, mp3 etc, but for playing Mpeg1 and other formats you can download a free software (TCMP Player)which is very stable and fast. Ans 3: For Video, i will say poor Ans 4: Not sure , but these mobiles are made by HTC corp. and sold through different carriers, like O2, I-mate, Qtek, but for me best is i-mate.

Hi iam using this Mobile for abt 2 weeks. I think its the best PPC + Phone coz of many reasons. Its 2 mp camera results is more than expected except video. and this phone can easily be operated by one hand which is a big improvment. Also people who say its slower as compared to JAm, thats true but its not that slower. After upgrading to the latest SW ver. the battery has improved and is faster. I have used some pocket pcs but this one is best from all. I cureently having JAM and this one. The main improvments in this mobile as compared to JAM are: Better display Can be operated by one hand easily No backup battery so u r free from Data loss Win 5.0 is great both r 150gms but this one feels lighter Better casing then JAM 2.0Mp camera is too much improved Batterylife is better Wifi and more But some bad points r: Video capture of JAM is better This processor is slower (not that slow) Any questions plz ask here, i will try to answer. JAMin versus K-JAM I have been searching online for 2 weeks for info to decide between JAMin or K-JAM, and I didn't find a true and clear comparison. JAMin: Has 2MP CMOS camera (BIIIG DIFFERENCE) K-JAM: 1.3MP normal camera (fair but not comparable to Jamin) JAMin: BlueTooth v2 K-JAM: BlueTooth v1.2 (not a problem) JAMin: SD for extra memory K-JAM: mini-SD (even though mini-SD is newer, SD reads mini-SD whereas the newest doesnt read SD, weird) JAMin: no Keypad K-JAM: very sexy very comfortable very durable Keypad So basically every geek (not pejorative) on the net will tell you if you want the camera go for the JAMin and if you want the Keypad go for the K-JAM. WELL NO $H!T EINSTEINS! (I REALLY WANTED THE CAM and I REALY WANTED THE KEYPAD) It's a tuff call and that's why we're here. I never post opinions, i usually only look for them. But since so many people had the same question as me with no answers, here's the deal. I checked both pieces in a showroom here in Dubai. I just BOUGHT the JAMIN! The reason is simple: They digital keypad on screen is an alternative, but slower than the keypad. ALSO, a big factor in my decision is the Decuma Alphabetic handwriting recognition built-in both devices. U can simply write IN YOUR OWN handwriting and its changes to electronic text automatically. Im not talkin like the old palm where u have to write letter after letter, u just write as u would on a real paper, using the full screen writing wherever u want. I tried it, and it was so precise - 95% - i have a nice handwriting) So finally, this amazing built-in recognizer made me choose for the JAMin and basically the amazing 2MP camera (check out the net for crazy pics it can take). Also JAMin is newer but this doesnt always mean better, but in case it does ;) Ok enough, Im gonna go play with my new Mega-kingkong-in-ur-palm-Toy!

for the guy who want to replace his w800 with I-mate, I dont advice you to do so, the MP3 fucnctionality in SE W800 is much better, and the camera of W800 is great .. and the imate one (even its 2 MP) cant be compared to it .. I made the same mistake , dont do like I did !

I have had a IMate Jamin for about a week (after using a C500/SP3 for about the last 1.5 years, so i thought I would post my experiences here - I have not experienced any reboot problems or synchronization problems. It works fine. I use it to check my email through wi-fi at home and at work and i was able to set this up without any issues. (I don't use GPRS as Vodafone Australia has a crappy fee system for using GPRS) About the CPU and the speed. It's not that bad. The CPU is a reasonable speed (although as always, more is better). The worst start-up time so far is Tomtom. It takes about 10 seconds to open. (This seems very reasonable to me, you don't expect you PC programs to load instantaneously, so why should programs on your pocket pc do so? I know its solid state memory and all, but it does take time for software to get going.) Once loaded though, TomTom runs fine. Very snappy, route calculation times are quick and the screen and spoken instructions are very clear when driving around. A benchmark using the TCPMP player, with a avi clip at a close resolution to the Jamin screen (320 X 218), I was getting a frame rate of 36 (495 kbits/sec). Since the clip has a frame rate of 26, the CPU should have no trouble playing most clips. There is a utility for overclocking the CPU - I have not tried it but have read that people are overclocking the chip to 240MHz and it is very stable. So if you do need a little more grunt, try that solution. The 2 problems I have come across so far are not bugs as such, just design faults. The sound quality when answering a call is not great - it sounds a little echoy and distorted. This is the same through both the ear speaker and the hands free. It's useable, just not as clear as most phones - it's also a little quieter than I would like. The loud speaker (not the phone speaker) is on the back. This is used in hands free - or in my case, watching video clips on the phone. This causes the sound to project away from you when looking at the screen. The person sitting across from you can hear the sound better than you can. I have not tried a bluetooth headset on this phone yet, but I am hoping that a headset will bypass both of these problems. Overall it's a good device, but if you buy one, you have to realise you are buying a compromise. If you want it mobile phone, buy a phone. If you want a handheld computer, buy something a bit bigger. But overall I think this is a reasonable compromise with the current technology.

I would prefer the n80.. it's much more like a phone, this has a touchscreen but they are very easy to brake(as i discovered with my last phone) and they cost a fortune to repair. The n80 also has 3g and a better camera[3mpx with 20x digital zoom], and a higher screen resolution.

It reboots all the time. Swıtches off by itself on stand by! The battery lasts at most 12 hours. They say they have a distributor in Turkey on the official web site of the company! Unfortunately NO! Wrong information. The distributor in Turkey does not respond!

imate and 02 are just distributors of phones. dopod/ HTC is the manufacturer. Therefore they are the same phone. exception is the imate jamin and 02 atom. Imate jamin is still made by dopod HTC, but 02 decided to go with quanta with the atom. Main difference between these 2 phones is the 400mhz cpu of the atom vs 200mhz dual core TI cpu of the jamin. Altho Jamin only 200mhz, but it is dual core and therefore is faster than atom on standardised bench mark tests.

Johny, just read your posting. I have a 'Jamin� phone that is constantly rebooting, i put it down to placing the unsupported tom tom navigator 5 software on it. I see you want to use the tom tom software, have you installed this on the PDA yet or was it rebooting anyway? Sometimes it seems stable but others it may reboot five times an hour. For my opinion on the phone; Connection to bluetooth (laptop and parrot hands free car kit) has been great. Activesyc is seamless via bluetooth, and pairing a dream - especially compared to P2K device before. Skype is not clear, seems to only work through loud speaker which in turn causes feedback, could be wrong on this as got fed up and not persevered to try and get it acting like a normal phone. Applications seem to be slow to open and device jams too frequent, especially after power off. Linking to smtp and imap Email accounts is so simple � it virtually does it for you once email address is entered as first stage. I want to keep this phone due to size, style and battery life. Also 2MP camera with close and far focus setting is dead hand when I am travelling for work.

Had my JAMin for 3 days now and seriously considering sending it back... 1. It reboots at least 10 times a day - normally when returning from a power-off (press, not press-hold) but also when it gets low on memory (which happens all the time). 2. Bluetooth is very unstable, not only do I get dropouts from both my earpeices but it isn't even visible to my Nokia 616 car kit. 3. MSN is so unreliable to be unuseable. I can't rely on a message to be delivered, messages don't get received and people don't show up as being online when they are. 4. There is a bug where ActiveSync seems to start a process spinning that kills performance. Soft resetting the device after a sync cures this. 5. It is so slow that adding any other apps makes no sense. I really want to run TomTom on it as well. It it much slower than my old IPAQ 2210 which I currently use for TomTom 6. USB support is also buggy... Windows frequently complains the USB device is unrecognised... sometimes in the middle of a sync. Shame because I love the form factor and the promise of functionality... I suspect it needs a patch and am hopeing the promised AKU2 push from Microsoft to HTC will make its way into the JAMin soon.

U2ND, the Dopod 818 Pro does have built in message alert tones. But only when. Check under Settings, Sounds & Notifications, Notifications Tab. You should be able to change it there. By the way. The device is great. Had it for about the weeks now. Have configured to retrieve my GMail. Works well with GMail's POP access, don't have to use inbox stingy Hotmail anymore. However, don't try and run too many programmes at once. It's a PDA-phone damnit, not a full blown PDA like an Axim or and iPAQ. The battery life rocks anyway. Can't way for the next ROM update. It shold include AKU2.

Got this dopod818pro 10 days ago. Speed is as good as my old ipaq2210. there is a 2 scond lag on the initial start up of message application after turn-on, but is instantaneous thereafter. Battery life about 2.5 days with moderate usage phone/gprs/wifi. Call quality is great. Have not experienced any dropped calls. grouses:- 1. does not have build in chinese input and characters.3rd party software slows down the PDA. 2. characters in messages are not sizeable. It is tiny especially with the chinese characters from 3rd party software 3. One hand operation for sms is not easy. 4. The manual is not comprehensive for advanced usage. Overall it is a excellent piece of equipment. Highly recommended.

Jamin has a *Dual Core* processor and according to some comments it seems one core is dedicated to running the phone functions leading to a snappier performance. So comparing a 200Mhz OMP processor to a 400Mhz ARM solely on their Mhz rating is far from accurate.

Speed is less of an issue than I thought. It seems to be only the Message application that is slow. Battery life: Charged 2 days ago and after 1 hour of phone calls, 15 minutes of light WiFi use, a few photographs and a bit of PDA clicking: 50% left. That is quite satisfactory for me at least. 65k color screen is not an issue for me, I would need to be a professional to notice that it is not true color. Two soft resets needed so far which is tolerable. So all in all I would say Jamin is recommended as a PDA Phone.

Got my copy yesterday: Speed is acceptable but be ready to wait around 2 seconds for some applications to start. (Messages application) WiFI works great. Call quality is good but not as loud as with "normal" phones. Battery life seems to be good. Phone functionality is good. Speed dialling works well. As a PDA it is of course brilliant. GPRS works well but connecting takes around 3 seconds. The design is sturdy and although 150g it is quite pocket-able. MMS works. Camera is good but the interface is not as good as on the Sony k750i. Conclusion: If you want a PDA Phone with a good battery life then this is your phone. If you first and foremost want a phone or a PDA to use as an entertainment device then look somewhere else.

This is going to be the highest selling PDA mobile for the first half of 2006 no doubt, The O2 atom is so slow and has a very high DOA rate it may be smaller but if your looking for performance this is the phone to get the texus Cpu is super quick even at 200mhz this will beat the intel 416mhz by a mile on clock speed. with windows mobile 5, wi fi, bluetooth 2 where can you go wrong, trust me guys the texas instrument is much faster than the old intel tests it for yourself and let me know what you think.

This 200 mhx OMAP-TI processor is superior to the 416 intel processor used in the xda atom. Look around, there are benchmarks available. In terms of reliability, again much superior to the atom. In fact my nokia 5110 works better as a phone than the atom. This imate is made by HTC dopod (also the makers of the XDAs and mini- just rebadged as XDA, imate...etc.) so very reliable. This phone has been out in singapore for sometime now with very good reviews.

you cant see difference between 65k and 256k colors.. there are other factors that define how good the screen is instead

Well, the thing is that WM5.0 has been optimized as such as it can run very well on a 200MHz with 47MB RAM configuration. As for the display. Even if it would support 262k colors, it would still show only 65k because of the WindowsMobile rendering engine which is limited to 16bit color [65k colors].
