Not too bad for a smartphone user,but i think there is one drawback and thats the camera,for sure this phone needed a more powerful camera and 3G to compete well in the same league with it's peers. Otherwise the Windows Mobile interface looks just fine. Personally i would go for a Symbian S60 now though i would have liked the i mate SP3 if it had a good cam and 3G...

i had a i mate jasjam. Only 6 months old. i recently had problem 2 weeks ago. The phone suddenly tell me the phone connection is not active and no phone service. The screen would freeze and i cant turn OFF or ON the phone when i press and hold the Power ON OFF switch unless i taken out the battery and put it back on again. i also notice the standby green light on the top of the phone isn't flashing. please help me somebody, there's no one here to help me on this small Island. thank u for trying to help mate.

I will never buy I-mate agian my sp3i is horrible the longest period it has worked is a week I-mate doesn't seem to care. The joystick and keypad fell of the bluetooth isn't working it turns off at random.

The phone is good but is not supported by any network coverage for GPRS. Better use MTN in S.A. and configure your data connection. Email me if you still have problems with GPRS connection.

I used this f.... device for a while but there are common (and known) problems: 1. Joystick only workes sometimes 2. Softkeys only work sometimes I'll NEVER buy an i-mate device again!! The problems are well known but support does not care.

I changed from nokia to imate.. This imate is good phone,but as many other users already mentioned, the joy stick is the worst part of it. On second day of my purchase, it was broken, and came out. Now I use this phone without it. The dealer, when enquired, told he has to give the phone back for repair, and advice to repair outside..But unfortunately this is not a common one like nokie, hence, i could not get this done... I really curse me for buying this - Moving from in menu is nightmare now... Also, the volume of ring tone is very low.. And when the ring tone and vibtrator cannot be selected together.

Joystick is the main reason I want to sell off this phone. Every time I use it I get in wrong menu. The menu is far from being logical. There are two "More" in the menu that makes a user confused. 1. Xphone I, II ( same as Imate sp3i ) always accept .wma file as ringtone, but not .mp3 when they were put into Storage/App./Sound 2. Dun let your battery turns empty, cos the phone wouldnt charge if battery emptied. 3. Paint and joystick cap would be gone easily, 4. The phone could be cold reset suddenly ( for me, once ) and all of data lost.. ... Otherwise, sp3i better than almost phone with other operating system. battery life is good.

I've had this phone about three weeks and the paint is peeling off two of the keys. Apart from that, the phone is fine but the joystick is sensitive. mp3 ringtone : put mp3 ( or wma ) files into phone memory at the directory App. Data /sound. you should try to use .wma file instead of mp3 files, it'll work

Picture quality and sound is excellent, the weight is not stressing, the detailing of its decor is classical and romantic. the keys are not as bad as i thought they would be, they are actually holding up well. the joystick is stupid and very fragile, i already broke it once and replacing it is not covered by the warranty ($20). 2 things i find really annoying about the phone: 1 you cannot send or recieve business cards via SMS. 2 and it freezed often. i think it has too many things for a phone.

Ive not had any of the problems encountered on this site. Maybe its the way you are handling your phones! Design is ok. Does what i need it to like call people and sent texts. Email is easy to use and set up. MSN messenger works fine and WMP10 works very well. Syncs well with WMP on PC and also Outlook. I have also built my own program to redesign the interface and it all works a treat. My paint hasn't chipped, nor has the screen cracked, the joystick broken or anything else. I reccomend it.

This phone is - ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING. The fact that the paint plakes off the keyboard within a week is outrageous. The joystick is a nightmare too. Beware also, when using Internet explorer, be sure to end task, through the task manager function, otherwsie you will end up with a 24/7 Inet bill for the month.. I did and it was v nasty. I love it! I really like the mobile phone keyboard rather than the PDA 2k slide out one. My only issue is that the Internet browser (IE) does not accept sites that use frames. Does anyone know how to fix that? Other than this... functionality is excellent for me :)

I had my i-mate sp3i for 2 days and it is broken... Be very careful when buying this phone. The durability of this phone is pathetic. My screen cracked without me dropping my phone or any irregulars. This is not covered by the guarantee and i now have to fork up R800. ($125) The scroll button also do not respond sometimes. I would strongly urge you to consider a other phone.

I hd one for 6 weeks but grew frutrated at a number of things. 1. The joystick is a nightmare. 2. Keypad locking is a pain but if you don't do it, the phone operates itself in your pocket. 3. MP3 player is ok but because of the joystick, hard to navigate. 4. GPRS stays on once initiated. It can be stopped but the manual doesn't tell you how. 5. The paint flakes off the keypad. Generally I was very unimpressed with the phone and have exchanged it for a Nokia. Anyonce considering buying this phone should research the imate website - their forums are full of complaints.

Very Cool phone.. just got it last week.. has every option you can imagine in a phone, i cant think of anything it doesnt do compared to another phone.. fairly easy to use and nice and small.. my only concern is that the OS does weird things like saying its out of storage when i have 500meg free on the miniSD and sometimes the menu's dont work and i have to turn it off and back on.. sometimes when bluetooth is on, the phone shuts itself off.. only did that once but it was strange. But it is microsoft windows after all and we all know how reliable that is :)

this phone is really nice considering the price. pros: plays divx, xvid, wmv, mp3, wma view (not write) all kinds of office files, pdf, SMALL yet powerfull, get/make a 3.5mm headphone adapter(!) and use koss porta pro headphones. cons: camera quality is not uptodate (640x480 is not good, we want megapixels), windows ce pocket pc version IS way better. conclusion: if you want small phone, get this, but consider the i-mate jam/qtek s100 before you buy.. costs a little more, but i would buy s100 instead of this today :-)

for those of you interesting on sp3i. for the money (i paid $335 on ebay), that's unbeatable. it works like a mini MS windows in your hand, and the mp3 quality is outstanding. also i'll give a lot of credit to its camera coz pics came out really nice as VGA. it has pretty much about everything compare with other high-end phones, i haven't seen any down side yet so far. yes, the keypad is not the highest quality compare with what i have used (p910i/v3/v802se...). but if you use it carefully as a "candy-bar" size cellular phone, i'm damn sure you gonna be alright. the support from www.clubimate.com is excellent as well, you will find pretty much all the Q&A you will have for this phone from there. i think it's just the matter of time to get used to the windows pocket pc OS, trust me you won't be disappointed.

The i-mate SP3i smartphone does not support beaming of files to another phone via Bluetooth. The 3rd party software , Smart Explorer can do.
