I used this phone almost 5 years untill now. The microphone, speaker, and the usb plug broken for many times, the battery is so asap to low, and the network... ugh. The most i hate about this cutie was the only one network, 3g. Some years ago, i'm ok with the 3g network, but it's hard to find the 3g these days bcs there is 4g everywhere now. But, bcs of my phone got serviced for many times, this phone still working perfectly untill today. When all of my family's members changed their phone many times on those 5 years, this phone was still with me. without having a heavy problem. and without any shortage of means.

I've been using this phone for about two years now and it is well past its expiration date. For starters, about two months in, the phone started showing huge problems with the screen, one tap could result in the screen acting on its own, flickering and not responding. Using this phone is also a big pain as it lags too often thanks to its 1gb ram and the fact that today's apps out-date it by far. This phone was not designed to last longer than 2 years since its release date from April 2014 and it is very apparent thanks to the fact that its highest android version is 4.2.2 which makes it impossible to update its firmware and thus use the latest app technology. To round things up, just recently I had to factory reset the phone thanks to its "Lenovo Launcer" not being able to launch which is essentially the phone's desktop making it impossible to access and backup properly. This had as a result me losing most of my contacts and files as pictures etc. This wasn't a big problem for me personally but the fact that all the WiFi passwords and applications vanished made my daily routine very uneasy and it was even harder trying to get the phone back on its feet. I wouldn't trust the phone after this fiasco and I don't think anyone should at this point. This is not the phone you want at that time.

I am using this awesome phone from last 1 year and not faced any problem,no lag even having 1gb ram,descent camera both rear and front,best cpu speed multitasking is breeze,sound is not loud but sweet,nice 5"screen with hd resolution,the main thing that this phone run each and every game thrown towards it,ran the latest games like modern combat 5 black out ,nova3,dark knight,walking dead series runs great without any minor lag,i do not wish to buy another phone even if there is wish to buy new one.......................

I have bought this phone since 2014 july, the problem for this phone are the microphone does not work, cause by an accident, I dropped this phone twice. and then I go to Lenovo service center to repaired and fortunately still in guarantee so I dont have to expense extra money, after I come back to the service center the repairman said there is no major damage, only reconnect and thighting connector in the mic PCB. so far only that problem I have, this phone actually litle bit reasonable for its cost. still working perfectly till this day

So I am facing a lot of problems with my Lenovo A859. I just bought it last last year, 2014 september, so it's already 1 year and some months on my hand. But just last year 2015, somewhere in november, the speaker started to get broke, sometimes it make sounds but most of the time not. And I don't know the reason of this. ANd i have read a lot of review about people having this kind of problem. So my second problem is that my phone just stopped charging last year december, so yeah, i went to a repair shop and they repaired it. And now. just this morning, when I tried to plugged in the charger, it doesn't charge anymore. And now the repair shop said that they don't know how to fix it anymore. I even tried charging it using other usb charger but still, it doesn't work. [ Damn I even payed this phone for 9,000 php. ]

hhh, i've got this phone in October 2014. I got three problem until now. first, my phone splashed by water, then it went on and off. i took the battery and let it dry for 24 hrs. my phone went normal again, so happy. Hi all, I bought this phone in September 2014. Had good use for a few months, sharp screen, good feel. However, after 3 months, phone starts to freeze and screen goes funny coloured. Tried reset and factory setting but the same. Sent back for repair and the warranty replaced the board and screen. Again, working for a few months and in March/April 2015, same thing happened. Basically, any small drop will affect this phone as it is not stable. Simply put, a good value phone with good gps without data connection but I cannot trust Lenovo phones again. I think it is better to by a regular brand like Samsung then cheaper product. Lesson learned. Got it refunded as returned a second time and happily with a new Samsung E5.

This lenovo a859 dabba model .I bought it a 8 months before. This phone when you selecting network mode> wcdma only when your 3g data activated. This phone was unable to find this wcdma platform . we wanna only option left with us to choose auto mode wcdma/gsm . it works in this mode only surfing speed 5kbps /20-25 kbps only . downloading speed you get start 100kbs for 5-10 setends then 9-20 kbps .. It's bull shit phone ..don't go after to this lenovo model...disappointing one..

Hi, i also got same problem like this. Internet on my A859 not working unless I connect it to wifi. Try this step to fix it: Go to System settings>Backup & reset> Factory data reset>Choose backup data (if you want to backup) then choose Reset. After do this step my A859 Internet connection back normally.

I'm posting from the phone right now and I wanna say that it works. I bought it in the same day as my apartment colleague and the glass broke in the same day a couple of months later (for both phones, both a859s). That makes me think that maybe the build quality is not that great. Also, the fact that Lenovo doesn't care about it is another drawback. They announced a KitKat update. I still run 4.2.2. I will definitely never buy a lenovo phone again. Yeah, and if anyone can suggest a custom kitkat/lollipop rom, let me know :-D

Hi guys. I'm experiencing a problem with my a859. Whenever my screen locks it seems that wifi is turned off. This means that I cannot get viber/whatsapp calls and notifications unless I'll unlock the screnn again. I tried everything but I cannot find a solution to this problem. Mic & Speaker solution - open up the rear phone panel, remove the battery, sim & memory card, then unscrew all the screws you can access ... pull up a little bit the bottom side of the already unscrewed middle frame panel, jiggle arround and then put all together again. It worked for me, buuuuut at some point it stops again, shitty phone at all. Network connectivity is a big issue all the time.

This phone sucks, after two month it started with the loudspeaker and mic problems, then the battery, I charged it for 12 hours and it only get to 50% Use it for 15 minutes and its all gone. Please don't buy it, just don't Only good for the first 2 month. Battery calibration doesn't work too

About the battery life, I always charge around 10pm and starts to use it at 7am (3G browsing, playing some HQ/HD games, reads some articles from the internet and plays music with my earphones on with 8/10 loudness. As I stop using it around 9pm, it always still has some 30+ percent left on the battery percentage. Battery life is great. When it comes to speed using 3g connectivity for internet, I rate it around 8.6 out of 10. This smartphone is a very good driver for everyday life. :)

Its a very good phone. It has an HD display, quad-core processor and a good graphics processor to handle multitasking, multimedia and some HQ games. It is also capable of snapping great photos, using rear camera (very good and decent) and front camera (very good photo snaps, surprised me a lot). I swapped my Samsung Galaxy Note 1 for it and I never regretted it. I just hope that Lenovo will bring a KitKat update for it (though 4.2.2 Jellybean is already very good enough for it) for it was really an awesome phone, and it never fails to surprise me as I explore the functionalities of it in my daily life. 2 thumbs up for Lenovo A859. :)

I have a lot of problems after using this phone started on around June this year. First, the mic not function, then the phone can't connect to the computer with the use of cable. This is the most frustrated problem that I have met!!! After around 9 days of maintenance in the factory. The mic had fixed and the connection problem. But now my phone is unable to connect towards my computer again! Can anyone help me please?

I actually need some help here, I bought my phone last may.Now, i've been experiencing some problem that made me worried,last october 1st i tried to access messaging,contacts and dialer pad but i'm having errors it says: "it's not installed" something like that. So, I tried to reset my phone then it turned on but still those important apps aren't working still. So i finally decided to reset the device to it's factory settings then those apps are finally working. So i reset my phone to it's factory settings again then the problem is already gone, but I was actually thinking that there is something really wrong with my phone and i'm kinda afraid on what's gonna happen next. And one more thing, i'm really tired of resetting my phone over and over again because I have to transfer files and that is important to me so i really don't want to lose some files on my phone... Guys!!! Please refrain from buying this phone. Its been 4 months and this is the third time that my phone has landed in service center. and each time it has taken a week to 15 days to repair. First time there was problem with speaker phone. Second time with the front camera and now again the speaker phone is spoilt and needs a replacement. The quality is terrible. I have the following problems: 1. Battery charge time is very long - if battery is discharged to 7% charge time is 4-4.5 hours. 2. Youtube application is lagy and it do not depens of vidoe resolution. It has a lags even 240 resolution. With Freedy YT player for Youtube no problems even with HD resolution. Hey guys, I've just received my Lenovo A859 ystdy, and I am very happy with the performance. The battery level drops moderately, not as lighting quick as some guys posted here. The screen response is good, but the best feature that i like is the apparent lack in the lag. switching from one app to another is a breeze, and its so damn responsive. After installing DU speed Booster, I can have total contral of RAMs, and speed and that enhances the phone's performances a lot. Overall, it's a phone that gives me EXACTLY what i want, and runs according to how i want it to. And to top it, it's got such a crisp resolution of 290ppi, that i cant get my eyes off the screen TQ

It's typical for you dear. Try to get a replacement. I've not faced any issue with calls. But I do admit the scrolling lag in contacts. Check the prioritizing thing again. Disable all the unwanted Lenovo specific apps. On a fresh boot I get around 500plus free RAM space. Think so.

No its not fine, even when volume set to maximum people complain that they can't hear me loudly and i don't hear them loudly not to mention skype video calls and mango video calls its hard to hear your friends because the sound low this phone have a really really really really bad speakers/audio!! as for notifications i already done that i don't not receive notifications, what i always do in order to receive notifications i open apps leave them running then head to home screen. third issue: this phone have 1G RAM why the hell does it need to use 7xxmb even if you're not using the phone! you have to restart it to get 400mb out of ram, the way android control hardware resources extremely bad forth issue: scrolling in your contact list isn't smooth my lumia 520 with 512mb running smoother than this phone with 1g ram !! i was hopping if my experience with A859 good enough i'd buy lenovo vibe x2 when its available in the market but i had nothing but bad experience with lenovo phones, the reason i bought lenovo phone because i know lenovo great brand on PC/tablets but i had nothing but bad experience .

You are mistaken completely. Call quality is fine, you may please update the system. You don't have to open an app and wait for all the time to get notifications. Just prioritize your most important apps and get notifications easily as those apps are opened from the time you switch on your mobile. It's under Lenovo app. Enjoy dear

Hello everybody, Mr. Wei Wang from Lenovo provided a solution for the calendar and weather problem after updating the A859 and it worked for me: We have a temporary solution for this issue. You can do it via: 1. go to Settings -> Apps 2. Find "Lenovo Weather in All tab" 3. Clear data and clear cache 4. Reboot your device BTW, our engineers are working for a new OTA package and will release it ASAP. Sorry to bring you inconvienence.

Yes it gives much difference after prioritizing app.. i use whatsapp ok so after when i clean junk files or ram it clean the recently used app and all, so what happen is i will not recieve notification unless i open whatsapp again.. so after prortizing whatsapp and when we free ram it will not erase whatsapp from recently used section it lock it and prevent it from erasing.. so whenever someone msg me am getting notification at right time.. Priortizing app means giving more priority to a specific app that we use daily..if we prioritize an app phone will not erase it without our permission... its working for me..

You can't find a menu button because it doesn't have any. All apps are showed in the drawer along the main menu itself. The UI is different from other Android mobiles. It's somewhat similar to iPhone UI. Slide the screen to see apps installed.

I have used this phone before, you have to charge this for at least 3.5h as it reaches to 90+ % the elapsing time will increase but do not worry. after that go to battery saver and activate the battery saver.

Yeah my friend it has HD display 720p. Yes you can attach documents easily and to be honest the battery is really great under general usage. I mean if you are a gamer or hard-core browser then it would last for 8hours. But if you do not do these often and use it for calling then it is deal. More than a day standby even with 2g on. Samsung provides us with Core duos, Grand neo, Grand Quattro. Personally I don't like these childish ones. LG has a good model to deliver that is the L90, simply updated version with stunning looks and features. L70, L80 are some other models which come under 16k. HTC has some models too to show us. Alas Old but still powerful, The Nokia. Lumia models are quite good, fast and easiness are there show stoppers. Hi! Roxr Gempak, I believe most of new phones today have the new version of youtube which is laggy 'cause it is whats on the google playstore today. Try to download Tubemate on the browser or in the playstore click opera as the downloader. It is way better than the default youtube on the phone just click 640x before watching videos. You can also download all videos from youtube on Tubemate and their audio as mp3. Hope it helps you or if there's a way where you can download the older version of youtube on the internet then do it. Please let us know if you have found the older version of youtube 'cause I believe a lot of us want it for quick playing of youtube videos.

yes ofcourse.. now wen i get call,its on "misoperation prevention mode " so only after proximity sensor gets light on it, it shows me whose calling or allows me to recv or reject call.. till thn it show s"misoperation prevention mode " so finally m at a big relief.. no chance of me selling off this phone now... n truely dissapointed with lenovo service who r taking so many days but still not able to undstnd my problem or revert with solution... thanks again... :)

Everything is working fine even the battery is good you just have to click the calibration in the power manager when you charge your phone make sure you always charge your phone when the battery level is below 15%, customize your phone to save battery specially the brightness make it as much as low as possible, change the network settings to GSM only don't use 3G,use Ultimate saving mode when you're in the office and the battery will absolutely last for a long period of time.

i m happy with phone with respect to everythng.. BUT at the same time i m into a damn irritating problem that on recieving a call... before i pull out phne from my jeans or trouser. either the incoming call gets recvd or rejected depending upon the phone position in pocket ..it happens in almost all cases n reason is because the receiving or rejecting call is by sliding up and down respectivly... unlike samsung n other brand who offers choice side ways.. so this problem sounds unusuall but it of most importance since at times we directly have to speak witout knowing whose call is recieved. i m so much unhappy.. :( hoping for some solution on it.... n yes.. if befor pulling out from pocket nothin happens... then too screen is unopertable.. i hav to press power for 2 times and then it allows me to eithr recv or reject call.... hop this genuine reply will help buyers and lenovo to work on it...

we can use launchers 2 change the UI. The best launcher which i came across is Dodol launcher,try it.will i get around 450-500 amount of ram after installing facebook, twitter, whatsapp, skype. does these apps come pre-installed.

The best part to mention would be its battery backup. The standby time is simply awesome. Both cameras,design and sound are good enough for this price range. I would honestly rate it 8/10 considering the wonderful battery backup it is providing, the below 15k price range for which it is coming, cameras and design. The other good-to-go things include its performance and comfortable handling. The worst part infact not while taking in to account Lenovo mobiles is its UI, a complete waste of show. Its little laggy while switching between the settings pages. Particular type of UI without menu page, that is all apps and widgets comes together. You might have noticed it in review videos. My rating goes like this 8/10. I'm loving the easiness its offering in all aspects.

Yeah my friend you can change songs with the key on the headphone. The sound quality is really superb from both the mobile speaker and headphone. Its nice to hear everything through headphone since it offers very good clarity. But on the other side that is the negative aspect the headphone is made of low quality materials. Its not the in-ear model, its the old round one type with very minute speaker grills. I think thats because the headphone offers very good music clarity and sound.

And whether lenovo s650 the only difference in both of them is display resolution and screen size and battery life other thing are same. I am planning to buy Lenovo as my next phone to replace my main phone which is the Samsung Galaxy S Duos(please don't ever buy this). I was looking forward for Lenovo because of their low price with pretty good specs. Which one is better between A859 and S650? Still now no one came up with a dedicated page for this model lenovo a859. I wish you could create one soon and we would love to be there with our suggestions. Coming to screen it doesn't have a corning gorilla glass protection. Excellent viewing angles not the best yet.

Ya there is an option. But if you choose sd card as deafult storage all the apps installing later will get in to the sd card and you can't bring them back unless you change it again to phone storage. The phone must be booted once you change the option.

It's a scratch resistant glass, manufacturer is unknown because Lenovo doesn't reveal the source. I have experienced 1 week without the screen protector in my hand and as a result I do believe the quality of its glass.

There is two option in the storage,1. USB storage 2. SD storage. if you select USB only all ur download or install put in USB only. But, if you want to install all ur apps.in SD storage u simply select SD storage. take note after u select SD u need to restart ur device after, so that it will actively function... About the front cam is so amazing very clear in skype and tango and all video calling...promise u will not regret...

i have same problem before, simply i solve the problem in the display setting. U need only to decrease ur light display because the more have light ur battery will consume more power drainage of ur device... Additional, ur sleep mode put only 30seconds.. hope this will help u guys...

Hello All ! when I am checking in power management - usage - hardware, it is showing that, battery used for radio is @ 48%, even when I have not used radio single time. Hi Nandini, thanks for feedback. But I have tried many times to calibrate my battery by initiating charging process after battery reaches below 15% level. Battery start to charge & calibrate, but after completing 99%, it not reaches to 100% even for keep for continuous charging of 3 hours after 99% completion. Please suggest.

Hey you have to charge the mobile to 100% and unplug it. Remember not to unplug the mobile without charging it completely for better batter backup. I've been using the same since last month and I'm happy to say that I haven't encountered a single problem yet. Guarantee you two days of battery backup under rare usage. As of now there is no need to do a alteration to the battery type. Thank you.

I owned this phone and it's fantastic. However, I do encounter problems with the pre-loaded YouTube app. The video movement is laggy and the sound couldn't keep up with the motion. Turn off your phone's 3G by tapping the setting, then system setting, tap "more", then Mobile Networks, tap Network Mode, then tap the sim 1 you are using, then tap GSM only. Surely, your phone's battery life will last longer this time. Mine got fixed ;) and also, when charging, try to calibrate ;)

Yes, the battery can be detached. This model is good enough although the pixels is 720 x 1280. It is bright enough comparing to other brands. The advantages is the price.
