There are 2 solutions for this: The J4 has released a new update this year (2019) to solve this bug... I suggest you update your device to latest Oreo. If for some reason you cannot detect a recent update then there is another solution. Go onto Apps Delete the "Game Optimizing Service" -- This has been causing the instability of playing games... Hope this helps..

Also learned of another solution... Uninstall the "Games Optimizing Service" from the apps menu and problem solved!! My phone hasn't crashed since uninstalling which seems the update on this service was the culprit all along.... Hope this works for everyone else...

i solved the problem of rebooting in gaming. After installing any type of games you must go tobthe game luncher and and changing some settings like the performence (economic) and decrease the FPS (30 or less) after doing this task your J4 will never reboot.

Hi Guys. I have researched the problem of games rebooting and apparently the Oreo 8.0 update is the cause of this. There has been a number of complaints on the Samsung community forum that the J series phones work perfectly fine but when launching an app or game it reboots and its been backtracking since the last update, so no matter how many factory resets you do or clear the cache or forcestop/uninstall/reinstall apps/games the problem will still persist. The Samsung community is forcing a petition for Samsung to create a patch (as they initially didn't want to recognize the update was the problem but blamed it on a technical issue with the phones themselves) Samsung have yet to give us a confirmed date on the release of the update to fix this issue (as said by the moderator) but hinting the 8.1 update will be by the end of January.. hold fingers crossed that there isn't a further delay on this. I'm not sure if any other further brands (A, S series) were affected by the Oreo update, if so then expect Samsung to release a patch even faster, if they don't then they will lose credibility/reputation in their ability to fix their phones and therefore lose customers... Please note the above info is only regarding opening up apps/games causing reboot issue, if your phone is showing other systems of malfunction (boot loops/excessive battery drainage/heating problem etc ) then it could be a fault on your handset...

If the phone is rebooting while playing games, i suggest if you buying from the box or resetting do NOT restore backup settings from your older android phone or your backup settings from the J4 before reset. Seems to be a bug that conflicts from older operating systems that doesn't integrate with the newer version of Oreo or if you reset whilst using the J4 the bug carries over into the new install from the backup settings hence games will start conflicting with Android again....Do a complete fresh reset as if you never had a backup----- so install the stock standard software the phone comes with, and install games manually from the Playstore and re-link your accounts. This can be time consuming if you have a lot of games but unfortunately there is no way around this until Samsung releases a patch. Keep in mind that Oreo 8.0 utilizes alot of the phones memory with its everyday processed tasks, unlike older operating systems. My version was 2GB RAM but without any games was still sitting less than 900mb of RAM, so higher spec games will utilize more RAM. Try to use the device maintenance to optimize the phones RAM as much as possible. Clearing cache does work in some instances but isnt a quick fix and will still be liable to crashing. Apps that you don't use often uninstall or disable it to increase RAM. I hope this helps....

This phone is practically useless when it comes to certain features. Not to mention Samsung didn't add some essential features that'll make the phone connect to Samsung or any other smart device because they thought that the phone wasn't premium. It's impossible to have a smart home with the j4. I don't recommend buying the phone either because the phone has 2gb ram which is the same amount of ram that I could get with a cheaper device. Also I'm having random issues such as the mic stopped working and touch sensitivity problems such as touching certain parts of phone (yes phone) somehow makes the back button respond and that gets very annoying. To me this phone may as well be a brick( it probably be even more useless as a brick).

I got this as a gift from a cousin. I used to own a Galaxy E7 which I have been using since 2015, It started falling apart recently and hence my cousin's gift. The thing I found especially surprising is how similar this phone is to my old one. It's been 3 years and there isn't anything particularly different about the 2 phones. The camera performance is more or likely the same apart from the different take on skin tones - I actually hate this new take. The performance doesn't feel any smoother as the games I used to play on the other phone plays almost similar to this one - Horrible for playing the latest big games like Pubg. The display looks awesome though and the new Dolby Atmos does indeed makes a difference. The newer Version of Android does bring a few changes and the new Samsung UI does bring a few goodies too, like the theme support. The phones has gotten a bit thick but the battery life remains the same - Good Enough for 6 hours of SOT of average usage. All in all - I am quite disappointed. I was under the impression Smartphones developed leaps and bounds every year but apparently that isn't the same in the budget segment of Samsung. I really hope it pulls through for the next 2 years. *Crosses finger !

Last year, I recommended Huawei Y7 (not prime/2018, just Y7) to a friend of mine. She is really happy with it, but it doesn't give you the option to move apps to SD card. However, you can go to Local Storage & move data to SD card from there, so it's not a big issue. Personally, I consider Samsung more reliable even though Huawei is fine as well, but if you want an answer without personal bias, I'd say go for Huawei Y7. Its battery & stuff is great but main reason I say Huawei Y7 is because of its GPU. J4 can run games fine, but its GPU is too weak to maintain 30 FPS in games like PUBG. You should aim for Exynos 7870 & SD 435 above if you want it to be able to maintain FPS in heavy games. Btw, also have a look at Asus Zenfone Max Pro (M1) ZB601KL

The sound is very low especially for whatsapp voice messages. It is really difficult to hear the whatsapp voice messages. I forwarded the same voice message to another phone (iphone 6) and i could hear very well. I took it to a Samsung service center in Sahara Centre, Sharjah. They agreed that the sound is very low, but they said they have no solution. They said they will address it to Samsung and I would get a call within 1-2 days.... Its a week now, so far no call and no update.

just gave my powerhouse the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus to my wife as her Mi Mix broke, and getting this J4 free with new postpaid plan. what I can say is this J4 is at least better than Nokia 3. decent in all aspects, bonus that great AMOLED screen. not an ace in anything but gets the job done in everything. While waiting my Mi 8 to arrive soon, this J4.. is above average of value of money. Would be a great 2ndary phone, plus its front looks like premium Galaxies.

It's a piece of junk right out of the box. I returned it and got a refund within two hours of buying it. It looks and is cheaply made, plasticky to the touch. On top of that, in order to activate the thing, you have to "agree" to receive advertising. I am NOT going to pay money for companies to send ads to me without my permission.

I have used this phone for a few months now and i can happily say its an amazing upgrade from the previous model and the J5 series in comparison. Its running Android Oreo which is an absolute delight to use. The cameras could have used an upgrade in terms of the pixels but there are no complaints from me since I'm no pro photographer and I use the cameras on social occasions, but in saying that, I must say the photo quality is slightly superior compared to the J5 model. Now for me, gaming is a big deal. Since most apps and games are utilizing bigger space requirements, the 23gigs leftover from the operating system is sufficient storage for all those huge quality games (and you can transfer games on your memory card properly this time). Dead Trigger 2, Anormaly 2, Real Racing 3/Need For Speed. Fifa/PES games run smooth, without any noticeable lag.... but i would advise use the built in Optimize feature (to clear memory ) and the Game Launcher tool" to get the best performance on high end games and do not multitask between games, as then you will experience lag due to the heavy demand on the RAM. Even though 1,4 Octo core is outdated, the graphics chip Mali-T720 does great support to the chipset in this range. The battery is amazing. If you are utilizing the phone for playing intensive games, facebook, whatsapp and surfing the net you still get a fairly decent chunk of usage for a full 8 hours from 100%. If you just text chat or occasional net usage you will get at least 1 or 1&half day usage. Remember the brightness on screen is one of the biggest battery life drainers. Mine is quite low as i cant handle very bright screens. My display slider is probably increased by 15mm from 0. I never utilized the outdoor brightness mode. High quality videos are great to view on the 5.5"screen with good connectivity on both Wifi and Bluetooth, i had no issues here. I've touched on the most essential uses of the phone in terms of camera, battery and performance. It depends on the individuals preferences to get the most out of this phone. If you are getting a phone mostly for photography then maybe you will have to spend more. If you are getting this phone for high end gaming then you will need to to be restricted in keeping your phone RAM as clean as much as possible. If you are going to utilize the phone for business usage, lots of normal/wifi/video calling, on the road for map navigation, texting and quick internet use then this will satisfy your requirements with excellent battery life. Remember, there are lots of budget chinese phones hitting the market to dent competition from the bigger brand names. But i also learned the hard way, there is a reason why these phones are cheaper with higher specs, they dont have the same quality when it comes to battery, display quality and performance on whichever segment you look at (mid or higher end) also keep in mind that dont expect a mid spec phone to perform like a higher end one, then you will be up for a big disappointment. Verdict : Samsung J4 is a good quality package at a good price.

First time i bought smart phone that to with samsung galaxy j4 1 week ago. So it's working fine but except battery backup becasue of it could not reached my require backup that is 1 and half day minimum, it gives only 19 hours on fully battery charged, otherwise everything is fine. Finally as per as iam concerned if anyone who require more backup(ex:2 days or more) don't go on with it.

I bought samsung j4 one month ago..Now i am writing a short review here. Pros: * Display performance is quite good.It has HD Super amoled display that is why i am quite satisfied with the display performance. * 3000 mah battery for 5.5" display. The battery back up is quite good. I do charge only 1 time at the night and it supports me whole day. * After service are quite good. They are giving a special offer called "Never mind Offer " in which if the phone's display get broken by falling unexpectedly they will replace it free but buyer have to register for it and i did it. Cons: * Camera performance is not satisfactory. Rear camera take good shots but it's miss capturing detail, front camera is just average. I am not satisfied with this phone's camera. In the same price you will get better option if your main priority is camera. * Having 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM is still lag(may low ram and rom is the reason)...when i click 'recent button' it lag most of the time.The phone is ok but it's lag sometime. And that annoyance me. * Audio sound quality is good but it's volume is limited. Most of the time i don't hear it properly though i keep the volume at the highest level. Conclusion : I don't regret that i bought samsung j4. This phone is OK for me. I am not big fan of taking pictures but watching movies(super amoled display -hahaha) and want to use my phonelong time without giving less charge and this phone give me all of this.

Agree that most of the devices these days are octa core (8 cores). But their set-up is 4+4. That is 80% of the time only 4 cores are used for all tasks, the other 4 cores are stand-by and they come into action only when needed such as video recording, gaming etc.

WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK, Is Samsung doing!! I've not purchased this phone and will NEVER. In price of almost 10,000₹, Samsung provides you with 2GB of RAM, and not to forget the 16 GB storage, Which is absolutely CRAP by today's standards. You get an Exynos 7570 Quad Core and a basic Mali GPU. No Fingerprint sensor, No Gyroscope Sensor, No Compass, No Gravity sensor, Basically nothing in terms of Performance and Sensors. Now the screen. The old 16:9 ratio screen. Uhhhhh. I admit it's an AMOLED panel, but resolution? No baby you get only a 5.5" 720p Screen. Absolute Crap for today's standards. What Samsung doing is using their brand name, they sell this Shit to innocent Indian people. If Samsung continues this, I'm sure 2030, they'll fade away from India. And Ohhh, at the same price, the RealMe 1 by Oppo, gives you a much better Helio P60 processor and a much better GPU, a 6" 1080p IPS, With 18:9 aspect ratio which looks much modern. Screen which is on-par with so called AMOLED, Every sensor that you can find on a flagship smartphone. 3GB RAM, which obviously better than 2GB, 32GB is better than 16GB. Just to give you a contrast, the AnTuTu benchmark score of J4 is 44,000 something, while with the same price tag, RealMe 1 provides you with 1,70,000. My Galaxy S8 was stolen last night... Had to buy a replacement phone in a pinch while on vacation. And.. The J4 is pretty good! The screen quality is great and there's a headphone jack and microsd slot. I miss the fingerprint sensor, water resistance and wireless charging but as a two week holdover, it's just fine

Phone is really awesome. Battery backup time is very good. But only major flaw and drawback is that there is no basic option in SAMSUNG J4 Mobile which all other basic android phone has for Screen Mirroring / Smart View which can be used to CAST the screen and connect to SMART TV's. It would be really good if the Samsung takes this up seriously and release the next version for Android with the smart view and screen mirroring option.

Having had this replacement phone after my old Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE550ML) rendered completely unusable after some internal water damage, I can say it's a pleasing successor if you're looking for an 'emergency' low-budget purchase. I've read complaints about how some other copies of the device seem to take a consuming amount of time in charging ((which I do agree it does, but mine never reached more than 6 hours?)), but I think it has never bothered me to that point of unease because of the 'patient' battery it has. I've taken about an approx. 10 or less hours playing a couple of high-end games or apps straight (even at the same time) but you never almost feel like you're draining your phone too rapidly, even though you might think you are. The camera's fine, if you're not that much of an avid picture-taker like me but still don't want to lack that privilage in case you DO need it. Aside from the fact with the J4 which only reaches a certain 'depth' ((you know, when your picture gets a little pixelated as the distance gets farther)) which is f/1.9, 28mm, whereas my old asus zenfone 2 could reach f/2.0. If you're like me and you're considering changing brands, like I did, I can definitely say I liked the neater/newer user interface here. Of course, I do miss some of the quirks that are missing here and there since my sudden brand jumping ((heck, I got my laptop as the same brand as my previous phone)), but it's usually highly minimal and it was a matter of getting used to some changes. I can't recall or list all of them here; some were for the better, some could've been improved. But I see this as really scraping the bottom of the barrel for other problems, as long as you are aware it's going to be from a different company. There IS however an issue regarding my model's bluetooth function, but thankfully I was able to resolve it without any physical tampering with the hardware. It started as the bluetooth button from the top menu wouldn't lit up no matter how I touched it, even attempted to troubleshoot it from the settings or withdrawing the battery after a restart. I met the solution when I swiped up from Home to where your apps are, then typed the keyword 'bluetooth' until a couple of suggestions popped up. I chose the option of Reset Networks of wifi, bluetooth, etc., and it forgot the password to my home wifi and most likely the other networks it previously hooked up. But since then I have been able to transfer files from my computer to my phone. Apart from that matter, everything else felt exactly like what I researched on before buying it. In my experience so far, it's been serving me well, and it'll hopefully meet your needs too if you ever need a fast but reliable replacement.

Tried buying a Samsung J4 as a backup second phone, as it is one of the few phones left with microsim, Got to the point of telling sales staff I want to buy this phone, and get the box out so i can see. Sales staff at NuSentral Kuala Lumpur totally unhelpfull, almost like their attitude is why would you want to buy this shiite phone. The Box was given to me with a a label only for use in South east Asia Sim card. I queried this as I have to use the phone in Australia. Samsung staff totally unhelpfull , to the point of lazy or lethargic. I had to check myself, I asked i need the model number so I can google the frequency ranges, have you got a pen so i can write down model number, No I don have(Malaysian Chinese accent). absolutely did not want to help. If this is a one of incident, its ok, ive been to this store before different staff same bad lazy attitude, like they all know their product cant compete anymore, why one buy this one. the only common factor with the staff is that they were of of chinese malaysian background, There is suppose to be a promotion with cheaper screensavers and other benefits, due to the Hari Raya festival, these guys not interested in supporting their promotional advertisement. Screen flickering issues is do nothing with Amoled screen. Its Samsung problem itself. My J3 Pro 2017 which not Amoled also having same problem. Only occured on certain brightness. In other note, I believe all low tier and mid tier of Samsung having this issues. Samsung Flagship or high tier probably doesnt have this issue, I guess.

Fastly....shut down your mobile and press power bottom + home + volume up.... 1-wipe data 2-wipe cache partition Then restart and charge your mobile with original charger and cable... If it dont charge fast then your mobile has a big problem
