Hi everyone, I’m a user of Lenovo A889 for about 2 years. The front camera is VGA type so it is really not for selfies afterall. 8MP primary camera still good to me, but only in day time. For internet browser, I use Chrome Beta (disabling Java Scripts will avoid pop-up ads) and I also use UC Browser (download latest version for strongest Ad Block). For both internet browser, I can play and download movies and animes through my phone (just make sure the memory is enough). I tried every setting to make it friendly to me. I avoid Facebook, Twitter, etc. Play Store is working actually. If the app doesn’t work then delete the app, download again manually from google search. Playing 3D games sometime, it’ll lag. That’s normal. I have Clean Master, to clean Junk Files and Boost Memory (always do this). Google Plus is working too. Radio, musics, recording files, Movies/animes, everything works well. My phone is really convenient. It works with medical study apps, communication apps (WhatsApp, WeChat, Telegram, Hangouts, Gmail, Mail, Tumblr, Pinterest, G+, etc…) and also works for documents (PDF, words, SlideShow-by using WPS app). Hotspots, better not change the names or hotspot’s password to avoid connection problem to PC. But I admit this phone still lacking a lot. Sometime, it can dial someone after hung up, automatically (so I’m not rushing to press anything until it completely off–dial). Sometime, it can reboot by itself after a few call done (need to check the system, clearing more space of memory used). I need a very good place of connectivity to download fast. It can get warmer easily, so I use flipping case. I can feel the warmth on back camera. Phone Features that I need: - Convenient (obey my command) - 3000mAh and above - Primary camera: at least 13MP, secondary at least 5MP. - Not really sure about OS: lollipop/kit-kat/marshmallow - Sporty, I guess. - Needs Original, no Cons. Now that I think it’s time for a new phone. Am I thinking about buying Lenovo Vibe K4, or Xiaomi Redmi mi4, or OPPO, or Vivo, or Oneplus One or Sony, or even Huawei? Seriously, I’ll avoid Samsung, Nokia or iPhone series. Why? Because I don’t feel like I want it.

the firmware of this phone is kinda faulty but the good thing is that I have bought for a much lesser price. I went crazy searching on how to replace the creepy firmware but finally found workarounds on the net to replace the firmware and it is totally neat! no complains even when playing mortal kombat x to asphalt 8! smooth graphics and unbelievable data speeds that seemed like a 4G.I wont replace this for any other phone since the 6" screen and watching movie without the lag is...priceless.

I've been using my A889 for past 2 years and it never give me any headache. It has been my close companion ever since. All you need to do is not to do any stupid thing than what it should not do; like Rooting or any other of sort.

I bought this lenovo for RM500+-. Just used it only for one day, and the battery already sucks. URGH!! Then, after 6 months, viruses started to attack. Along the 6 months, it is very slow! Annoying. Keypad always stuck. However, i send it to the Lenovo repair center. And its 100% okay now. The keypad also doesn't stuck anymore. It will stuck if you use custom keyboard. I can only download the go keyboard. Morw than that, it will be stuck. The back camera is very nice. But the front camera. Please. It is a no. People, Lenovo phones need other ROMs to make it work well. The hardware is fantastic but the default ROM with lots of Chinese junk is just bad. So head over to NeedrOM and download a variant that has the most downloads. For this A889 model the Material+ is the BEST rom ever. Claims to be 5.0 but actually a re-themed version of V4.2.2 done so nicely that it matches the Lollipop rom in many many ways and with Swapper installed with 512MB swap directory space. You are set to enjoy this phone!. I like it more than my main MI3 CM12.1 ROM which is fast and has superb audio but for reading and general Web usage, the A889 is just better and just as fast. In fact, faster in some operations.

Stevo, the export model one I bought in Singapore, the volume sucks. Its like 80% of max volume of all other handphones I've owned and this is disappointing, as like you, im an uump pa pa music loudness fan but this phone "max" is like restaurant background music, very good for ear health, but no oomph-at all. I bought this model in Singapore (sim lim square) but soon discovered the maximum volume of phone (for phone stored music as well as net music)was quiet below my expectation. Frankiekhor Malaysia Been using this Lenovo a880 for 12 month, I am using two unit concurrently, one for serious business purpose other one for backup, both phone are amazing durable, I drops each few time but it keeps working without trouble. Both phone had flash to custom roms, (MIUI, lewa, tron v3, cmw, L style, many others... ), this phone is one of the easiest to flash and root, having 4 unit battery for standby, With it 1.3ghz processor and 1gb ram it is good enough for daily usage, I pair it with a 64gb SD card. When it first bought, there are few issues with the original ROM, including screen on itself while nobody touching it, it drained battery! Too many unwanted Chinese apps which can't be uninstall! Speaker sound too soft difficult to hear including headset, mic and loud speaker, Solved all problems all together by flashed to custom ROM, currently using MIUI ROM, MIUI ROM v5 is the best out of many which have small issues here and there! My advice to all people who trying to buy this phone, if you are good in flashing ROM, go for it, tq.

Excellent I have one last unit to let go n it's black color which is rm399 the lowest u could buy from 1gadet shop. My price is only rm338 and also from 1gadget shop.actually new cos I buy n sale in with little profit cos I buy in dozen quantity n have little price in cut. The A889 is so much more in extra performance that the A880i could. Both are in same series n category also in price range. The camera is wonderful with 8 mp which I can say it's do similar works with 13mp camera .it's still the most wanted phone now in it's category n yet the price is even lower than those lower performance phones. U will love the facts of the price u paid is almost lowest amount to owns a smart phone but u get to. owns a high ends phone that is comparable with those big boys.

I If u want to move your phone internal things like music,videos etc U have to oen the folder Sample:if u have a folder named "music" u just need to mark your music and tap copy then u go to the sd storage and tap paste thats all (Im using a lenovo A889 too)

you can't transfer your apps to sd card. only the old android gingerbread version can do that. it is not possible on newer android versions (honeycomb and onwards)

If you already have this phone can you tell me that if you create a new contact on the phone it will automatically appear online in your Google Contacts page on your PC? That is the correct operation if you have Google Contacts already included on the phone's Google Sync section. It will NOT appear on the PC web page for Google Contacts if the phone only has Google People sync. Correctly setup Android phones will include Google Contacts sync. Some have only Google People sync - which is next to useless for me. I have already bought 2 phones which don't have Google Contacts sync and had to throw them away. :-( So I don't want to make that mistake again. To check your Google Contacts is syncing correctly you go to your Google account via any browser (not app), go to www.gmail.com, log in, then select Contacts, and check there. This way, your Contacts are Automatically Backed Up - so if you lose, break, or have your phone stolen, at least you still have your contacts available; it is restored automatically once you login to you replacement Android with the same (of course!) I just ordered my A889 and am so happy to read a good comments from you. I have been reading bad comments and i almost cancelled my order. But its worth to try, right? If its not good then buy a different fon. I have ideafon A3300 tablet and its wonderful with good battery consumption. You need to charge 6 hours before you can use it though.

My bad..the battery IS removable. I stand corrected. But, I'd rather buy a new phone than replace the battery..and definitely a different model next time. When on speaker phone, the sound quality is no better than a toy phone...totally unbearable.

Or you could send to a shop for a few days for a new battery. So, this is a disposable phone. Overall, if you want a cheap, disposable 6-incher, this is a good choice. If you look for quality, long term relationship with a phone, look somewhere else.

No root comes with super user. U have to root it using vroot or root genius and u will get vroot so u have to install system uninstaller from playstore and uninstall vroot using it. Then install super user or any u want.

if you got duplicate error or something like that, 1. root your phone. 2. install system uninstaller from playstore. grant access for root. 3. use system unistaller to remove fb and download a new one from playstore... 4. n u good to go.

Problems I haf with this phone, 1)battery not big enough, hence the phone cannot last for a long time. 2)Secondary cam quality is bad, should have provide 1.6mp like A859. 3)Latest YouTube app is not compatible with the phone, the voice will be lagged during the play time.

I have the same problem in the very first day i use this phone .. What i do is .. I cut all the videos , picture etc and paste it in internal memory and after i cut it and paste it back to the sd card and the phone started to read all my picture and videos in sd card .

Your internet connection is not good .. My a889 never had a connection problem . you need some skill to move app to sd card .. I use folder mount app .

My Lenovo A889+16GB sd card, is a month old now and i've found some issue related to reading sd card data,files,videos,pictures,mp3 and all sort of stuff that saved in sd card. pictures were missing and broken, files were corrupted, mp3 and video cannot be played. This sort of issue should not arise. Unfortunately for me, i bought an AP set which doesn't comes with warranty from Lenovo Corp. but it does comes with 1 year warranty from the seller. Now the seller said to me "owh..this type of hengpong problem is not under warranty".. WTF!!

Lenovo A889 that I brought yesterday is good and affordable. With big screen than I can see. But its charger that they give me is China charger. But you can replace with Samsung charger or any micro USB charger when you are a UK/Malaysia charger. You like to watch video, this phone is perfect for me to watch video. But Malaysia network quite slow so the Lenovo browser is 2x faster than Samsung browser. The price is affordable. Its RM480 that I buy. The cover is quite difficult to find. Try A880 cover. It also fits to A889. This phone feel a little heat but its OK to use. Not like Samsung because Samsung phone heats a lot and become lag all the time. This phone use china's MTK6582 quad core 1.3GHz. Quick and good. Try it and feel it.

My recommended customization for smooth experience for this phone : Just search them in Google Play Store to install 1. Go Launcher 2. Hacker Keyboard or Flesky Keyboard (Whatever suits you best) 3. Avast! Live Anti-Virus 4. Easy Cache Cleaner 5. AirDroid (Transfer when you don't have USB cable with you) 6. Easy Battery Saver (If you really need it, I don't) 7. CleanMaster (Only clean old files if needed) 8. Calcu (Better calculator for android) 9. ES File Explorer (If you hate the stock File Manager) 10. Evernote (You will really need this for notes/reminders/sharing notes - I use it alot) 11. Bar Launcher - (This is so useful, Install it you will see why I love this app.) Tips : Don't always charge the battery below 15% or when it's really drained it's bad for the battery health. Charge it when it's around 30%-50%, you don't need power banks if you charge on-time. If you got power bank, good for you too :) charge wisely. Don't force close apps, don't need to download booster or whatsoever battery/managing/boost app, their useless. What you'll need is cleaning the caches. I use Easy Cache Cleaner.

Hi Dev, It's the international set I suppose, mine also has chinese characters but it's not a big problem for me. Mine was setted in English language by default, but it does has some chinese characters when someone calls or messaging but not that much. What I've heard is most Lenovo phones are defaulted with chinese characters because it's manufactured/founded from China. It's a budget phone but with 6inch/Quad core(Amazing Lenovo!). You get what you pay for. It's still worth the money

Planning to test 64gb on this phone :) belum root. Now really enjoying playing Asphalt 8, but I want to try Modern Combat 4 soon. Etirnity Warrior 3, Gta already tested, no lag at all. Almost all HD games run very smooth because of Quad Core cpu. I'm still very satisfied with this phone, but my casing sudah rosak/scratch. Want to try FLIP CASING :p

Yes you can, but there's no need to download screencapture application. To screencapture for Lenovo A889 is easy. The steps : 1. Hold "Volume Down" button together with "On/Off" button at the same time. Viola! Screen already captured/saved. :)

This is a good / great phone to be honest. From East Malaysia, Lenovo A889 bought it at a price of 450MYR + Matte sp + Candy casing this phone is superbly customized in your hands, good design too. Not rooted yet, planning to after 1 more month using > then root. This is my 5th day using this phone, everything runs smooth, apps(mainly all social, productive, avast, multi apps tested with no problems), games(asphalt 8, nfs mw, injustice marvel, dead trigger 2, blitz, COC) everything runs with no problem/lags. Calling and speaker sound is very clear, plus speaker very loud n good hearing, has abit bass to it. The screen size is awesome 6inch, i love it, after seeing this phone lively on my hands, i thought it was very thick, but its so thin and lightweight. Battery life superb with easy battery saver app, just need to know which app to hibernate. I recommend getting the new Go Launcher version for this phone, it's quicker and nice design, open ups apps quicker than the stock launcher. Camera quality for back 8mp is good for newbie photographers, but abit dissapointed with the front camera only 0.3mp. Anyways to those who are searching and planning for this phone, get it! I tell you its worth the money, good and reasonable price. Enjoy, and welcome to the A889 club :) (Black A889 user here-i like it clean)
