I still use this phone even today. I have this and the Moto e 2nd gen, I don't play YouTube videos much on this anymore due to constant freezing but it's still good. Some apps won't be available now. Google pay is not available anymore. I have had used this phone since 2015 and still does well but I need more space. No SD Card slot available which is not good but decent phone no doubt. I mainly play games on it anyway. Warning, don't upgrade to lollipop and then play games. Your phone will warm up quickly

Got this phone for about $250 back in the day. Used it as my daily driver for the past 5 years, and will probably stick to it for 2-3 more. This phone was a flagship so very few compromises were made. - Good battery life. I still get at least 4 hours of screen time out of a single charge. - Decent dev support. I just put the latest lineage os and get a new version of android. - Phone is unbrickable, idiot-proof level really. No bootloader-detection e-fuse cr*p. The phone has some sort of fail safe usb driver which you can use to load correct bootloader files if you managed to screw them (been there, done that). - Good build quality. I dropped this thing on concrete quite a few times and it still works like a charm (I only use a cheap silicone case and glass screen protector). - Snapdragon 800 still pulls through nicely, although it starts to lag in demanding scenarios like gps navigation with youtube in background. - This thing still has an IR blaster! Aside from better camera quality and lack of storage space, I struggle to justify upgrading to a $400-ish Xiaomi flagship, let alone $800+ mainstream (i.e Samsung/Huawei) ones. Not adding the few days you need to learn the phone (i.e how to root it/how to install adblocker/youtube vanced/ other stuff which are essential imo).

I have been using lg g2 for 1 year, it was perfect After that first the wifi stopped workin (hardware essue) Then the screen started to show black while the phone is on (you can hear the game and so on while the screen is showing black while on) The phone destroyed me , becuz iam 15 year old child So i need to save money to purchase a new phone

LG needs to re-release this phone, with these adjustments: Front mounted fingerprint sensor where the lg logo is (capacitive, like htc 10) Off screen navigation keys Removable battery High quality textured back cover (think lg g4 leather, or sandstone oneplus) Updated speaker+earpiece speaker like new phones have You can keep literally everything else the same and to me it would be the perfect smartphone. LG was sooo ahead of the curve with the g2 its insane, only a few small tweaks to it would make it the best phone on the market imo.

This was an excellent phone for its price and time. One of the first-ever OIS implementations to a phone camera was on the G2 and it was one of the first phones that used SD800 chipset. This phone surpassed S4 when it comes to camera and SoC performance although being cheaper. The bezels on the G2 was very thin for its time. The screen was pretty big for its dimensions. To me, LG can be counted as the pioneer of the bezelless screen trend to some extent. It had an IR blaster as an unique feature. The battery of G2 is 3000mah and this battery was huge for its time. The main shortcomings of the G2 were the lack of expansion slot and its plastic build. It was fairly light although having a big battery thanks to its plastic build. Also, LG G2 is a pretty durable and long-lasting device.

Cleaning up some drawers, I surprisingly found my old LG G2, still in a very good condition except for the camera lens, which was all scratched up. I decided to play around with it for a few minutes and to be honest, it still felt very snappy. I asked myself if I could use this phone as a secondary one... So After a bit of research, I found that it's possible to upgrade the OS to a fully functional Android 8.1. After watching some tutorials, I very quickly installed a custom recovery (TWRP), which enabled me to flash 'Lineage OS 15.1' (Android 8.1), and all of the necessary Google Apps (go to website opengapps.org, and choose the ARM platform, android 8.1 OS, and the variant you desire. I chose stock.). The phone booted up, I put in my information while downloading all of my usual apps. First impressions, fantastic. The phone was very snappy, buttery smooth, with a just few lags here and there. I opened up a bunch of chrome tabs, watched many YouTube videos, used different social media apps. So far, no problems. I then took the time to polish up the camera lens with some car paint polisher, and a few cotton swabs. After using 5 swabs, the lens was perfectly clear of scratches. As a result, I tested out the camera, and it produced decent results. Finally, I decided to use this 'resurrected' phone as my daily driver for a while to really put it to the test. I am impressed. This is a major win. This phone is now my secondary mobile device.

This was one of the best phone I had even though I didn't bought it at the time of its launch. The only real flaw I experienced with this phone was the frame bending-wear where it would cause the touchscreen to be haywired or just not functioning. I wanted to repair it but the screen was still expensive even for an old phone.

The cell phone is great, using a custom file system Colt OS android 7.1 tested absolutely everything and found no problem! ( i'm a natural discoverer of bugs ) The camera application of the Colt rom gives a significant gain quality in the captured image as well. use the device for about 6 months, I was satisfied with everything! The cell was very fast and I decided to sell them because it was money, and I had bought a more powerful one. baterry have quick charge in the Colt rom ( users from brazil need to use a patch to use any custom system, our d805 in the same hardware of the d802, but you need the patch)

still have this as a spare awsome performance since i got it but just use it as a spare now as it does lag a lot so only use it when my battery dies on my daily user if it was not lagging i would still use it every day as it was really fast screen quality is really good on a plus note my battery still lasts a long time can get a full days use still and that is after a few years of usung and abusing considering i got this in probably early 2014 would recommend if u find one cheap- max 60 70 quid i reckon now.

I have to say, for 2013, this phone was way ahead of it's time in the market with it's camera. I am testing one right now and I am so impressed with it. Not only does it do 60FPS at a decent bitrate, it has a really fast AutoFocus and OIS works wonders. Yeah it only goes to Lollipop officially, but if you root the phone it should run Oreo, maybe. Downside is the storage - I am testing a 16GB at the moment and there's only like 9GB of free space so that's probably the only negative. This phone is almost 5 years old. Amazing I have to say that. Original battery also still holds charge perfect with 10% drop from a full charge overnight. I wish I had this back in the day instead of going for an iPhone 4S :(

I also bought this 4 yrs ago and it is still working well. it had had touch panel malfunctioning but LG repair guy simply fixed it with no charge. the LG guy proudly said this is a well made phone and gonna work for yrs. even though my G3 is down and never gonna be fixed, i will be with G2 for more.

This is my opinion about LG G2 . I bought this phone 4 years ago on 2014 . This phone has served me really well and i'm satisfied by it . -Performance = This phone's perfomance was really good , first time i got it , it was super snappy , i didn't have any lag at all . The Snapdragon 800 played games pretty well . Problem is that it heats up a lot and it drains the battery pretty quickily . For normal use watching videos , social media , or websurfing it has no problem at all. -Storage = my phone only had 16gb , about 10gb usable more or less. At first it didn't give me any problem , i could take hundred of photos and couple of videos while having some games installed , but then when time goes on i notice that an SD card would've been great . I often uninstall games and even delete photos or transfer them on my computer so i'm able to free up some space. You really have to keep in mind your storage with this phone. 10gb in 2018 is no longer enough in my opinion . -Ram = 2gb is enough for daily use . it doesn't handle background task that well , max 2-3 apps , then it's needed to be reloaded all over again . -Camera = The camera is awesome if it has lots of light , it take really good photos and with help of OIS it reduce shake pretty decently . But during night , the camera becomes really laggy , and the photos ain't that good . Video has some trouble of focusing , it's usable but not the best . Front camera is decent for social media . -Battery = when first got it the battery last whole day with screen on time around 4-5 hrs , or even 6 hrs when i push it to the max . Overheating is a problem and it drains battery extremely fast , playing heavy graphic games kills battery quickily , it takes around 2-3 hrs to drain battery while playing game from 100-0% . Now 4 years later the battery only last 4hrs and i'm a heavy user and it will only last me half a day . -The build is good , even if it's plastic i had no problem with it, it's pretty grippy , i never used a case for it . it has tiny scratches but not a problem at all . It's also durable , atleast for the times i dropped it at around half a meter , it didn't shatter the glass . i reccomend getting a screen protector but a case isn't really that necessary aslong as you be careful with it . Unfortunately my phone's wifi doesn't work anymore, it has trouble connecting . i think it's because of the overheating, or maybe not . I no longer use it , i often leave it on stanby and it last for days! often even a week i still find it having around 30% battery . TLDR = This phone is good , if you can find it for less than 150 euros it's a good buy . I don't reccomend buying used one though because of that battery and it might have been overheated so much . for 2018 it's pretty good if you can get one with a good deal .

I still have this phone for like 2 years , Incredible phone , so solid and the 32GO of storage is just perfect (Movies , Apps , Photos), the 2GB ram works fine too , The camera is nice , take a picture and go to insta to adjust it and boom it's clear! , about the Video recording my camera became blurry but because i think i've put it always on a place full of dust , It's the best phone i have ever owned , I wanna switch to iPhone SE but i'm afraid of it's battery , any suggestions? ^_^

best android mobile phone I've ever had, my first android was MOTO CLIQ, this is my 2nd android phone..I still maintain it however 2x lcd replaced (1x free-guarantee), change battery after 5 years,..few months ago exactly..now it's the time to change microphone..usd20 no big deal?!! what I like from this phone,..it just perfect?!! match on my hand palm, good design ,..everything ok even for this year?!! i hate the BIG phone which release today,..and crazy price also not fit on my pocket..money..size.. etc!! One of the best phones ever. Incredible screen to body ratio. Massive battery. Full HD. Lightning fast even in 2018 (benchmarks aren't everything), especially with custom ROMs (good support, BTW). Lacks card slot, but 32 GB is very usable today. Phones have returned to 4 faster cores rather than 8 cores because it works better. This phone overclocks to 2.7 GHz easily, some hit 2.9 stable. Can be underclocked or set minimum from 800 MHz down to around 200 MHz for a super low sleep and awesome battery life! Perfect one hand size too. If the Nexus 5X hadn't had the bricking issue, I'd use that. This is one of the *very* few reasonably sized alternatives.

i tested for very long time many phones like lg g3 some samsung phones and xperia and found the lg g2 the best , the external screen has many cracks on it and is working perfectly the battery is perfect too and beat many phone on standby mode, it drains only 1 percent for all the night (8 or 10 hours) and very rare lags so one advice ( custom kitkat rom ) dont update to lolipop.

bought it 3.5 years ago. slapped a ballistic case on it and it's still almost like new. literally the best phone I've ever owned. it's got it all: * decent camera for 2018 standards * screen size is still decent for 2018 * normal screen ratio. I can use the whole screen real state when I watch videos. * IPS panel makes it very future proof, no screen burn in, unlike OLED * decent resolution for 2018. this placed side by side with an lg g4 with a QHD screen and I can barely notice the difference in resolution. * IR blaster * headphone jack!!! * excellent screen to body ratio * the OG back button smartphone * PLASTIC BACK. more durable than aluminum and glass. * 2 GB ram and the legendary snapdragon 800 are still going strong. installed lineage os nougat 7.1.2 and it's buttery smooth. never lags. can handle all graphics intensive games with ease. * amazing battery life for a phone with 3.5 years of heavy usage. Really?? My Wi-Fi Went out too! Was using an App alot (flying) and it did get warm and after 2.5 years..no wi-fi and another 2 years the battery wasn't holding a charge long.R.I.P,I got the Tribute 2 and and K3 (2017) now.Both under $80.00..The Tribute 2 Performs like An LG G2 after Tweaking in Developer Options and Can't really tell the difference.$600 phone it was.The LG G2 went through 3 Android OS systems upgrades also.Unlike the Tri2 and the K3 I'm stuck with just One OS ,no upgrades.

I liked the G2 very much, the only one big problem was the annoying digitizer - touch issue, but after replacing the digitizer (Very difficult to replace) the phone worked great, but had to sell it in the end :(

I am sick of how people praise samsung for innovation that lg had years ago... curved back for comfier grip? G2 has it. Small bezels? G2 has it. Capable of over 9 or even 10 hours on screen time when new and having a big 3000mAh battery? G2 has it. Hell, I still can get over 7 hours OST out of it now that it's 3 years old or 3 days of light usage (with about 3 hours OST). That is on unrooted stock kitkat on 3g, lollipop sucked with battery for me. It's like G2 is a ghost that everyone forgot. Yet I still use it and am happy with it. Sadly I need to upgrade now that I got pets in the house and I found out the G2 is just too slow to focus and the picture also ends up blurry when the damn cats move slightly. Most of my indoor low light shots just end up blurry mess or the phone takes so long to focus that the cats are gone before I can even try to take that blurry pic. I will keep it as my secondary phone though, I expect it should last even with the original battery at least till 2020. After that it may need battery replacement though...

Hi, I need your help. There is a recent system or app update (not from play store) and it is automatically downloaded and installed. I wasn't sure about the update since I just cleared up my notifications. Suddenly i get an error that facebook app crashes and other apps. Then I restarted my phone and stuck in LG logo. I tried doing the hard reset, however, after agreeing to factory reset my phone it comes to boot loop. I have this phone for almost 4 or 5 years and it is the first time I encountered this issue. :(

If you were happy with the g2 why not go.for the g6? If my g2 wasn't running as great as it is I wouldn't be scared of that as first choice. Nokia 8 also came out recently if you are into stock android and seemed to outperform samsung galaxy s8 in speed tests for less price. G6 would still be my preference because of the design.

Yeah that will work temporarily, until you enter network settings, disable your mobile internet or reboot the phone. I found better way is to root the thing and change one number in one of the system files to unlock all options. Google around as I don't remember which anymore. Usually 4g isn't listed cause you're using the phone in the wrong country (can work if you're lucky) or because your provider wasn't acknowledged as 4g one at the time the software was released (especially if you are still on kitkat this happens often). I'm on kitkat myself and had to do that.

Type 3845#*802# if you have D802 version. You will get a list of different options. Select LTE only. It will work on 4G. But in India it works only on 1800 MHz. we can access data but cant make call on 4G network.

The touch panel is busted, you will need to replace it... it's the ONLY way to get the touch function to work, there is no software solution. I recommend to buy the whole LCD panel + frame, because replacing the digitizer which is the part that recognized the touch, is very difficult and few repair technician can do that. You can find it around like $25 in eBay.

I've had my G2 32 gb ram for 9 months (bought used, near new condition for 65 dollars). Works well, is frugal to use ( TracPhone prepay that after set up fees runs 9 dollars per month with limited minutes/data) and as it was ( when introduced 2013) LG's "flagship"it compares well with phones that are current production. However the boot speed is slow and it does not have FM radio. Other users have had problems due to their carry in their hip pockets where the phone is "torqued' (case bent).

if thats a dead screen (some part of the screen not working) here's the best way to fix it.. it happens to me too... but a different phone.. -turn off your phone -get a lighter -break it (lighter) -get the clicker (the one with ground thing, i dont know exactly what's it called) -then get your phone, dont turn it on yet..now place the small wire in the dead spot of your phone, then try to click the lighter's clicker to the dead area of the phone which is not responding.. click it 2 times ( each side ) then open your phone. trust me. that'll work..

hi guys I hope some one can help me I have a g2 since 2015 but last month started noting that there is an issue with my display at top of of just 1 inch below the touch is not responding ... the rest of the display is ok it is jut like a dead horizontal dead touch line on it. even knock on when screen is off response is not as good as before .. then I could tap on it really quick and screen turned on but now I have to double tap in kind of a half of a second so it can turn on ... I tried resetting phone switching from lollipop to kit kat but nothing yet,....

You can easily fix the GPS reception, in the back lid of the G2 there are the GPS antenna contacts, it needs to pry out a little so can make contact to the board, in YouTube you can find lots of tutorials about it.

Have it for 3 years now. It's reliable but: - No SD card slot. I tought 16G was enough but System Data is taking a lot of space. So only 8 Gig left for usage. this is to low. - Gps was never it's strong point. Not an issue when you have good network which compensate but on bad network take more than 5 minutes to get the position.

Experienced slowness & pathetic battery life for the past few months - later then, reset theme to default LG G2(didn't do factory reset) & without changing the desktop/lock screen wallpaper both battery life & performance is like 'The King, once, is still the King'. Ringtone - am having my own, though ;) If the UI feels boring, guys, you can try out Nova launcher which not only enriches the G2 user experience but also consume very minimal system resources thereby not altering even minimum bit of already spectacular battery life & performance(with default theme ON)... G2, which deserved an 5.1.1 upgrade at least, was boycotted but the Soul still prevails... Any one experiencing earlier mentioned issues can try out the solution above & start feeling the Legend in your hands.. Do post your opinion, once after trying it out.

What I did to solve my screen problems with my G2... since I purchased the phone cheap, I didn't have much to loose when it came to looking for what was wrong with this phone. I bought it in great physical condition, but screen was not working. I removed the few small screws from the back, and the issue was the ribbon connector for the screen to the mother board. Just be very careful when disconnecting & reconnecting these small cables. They can snap & break very easily. After I fixed the phone, I loved it! It was very solid, fast, & never had any issues with memory or storage. I just purchased the G5 and I hope I like it as much as I did the G2.

Zenfone 3 ZE520KL is my upgrade from the G2 and I am happy with it, only the camera is so much different. I was gonna get the G4 but decided to pass on it because of the bootloop issues, and skipped the Nexus 5x because of the weak battery. The bigger version of the Zenfone 3 has a 5.5 inch screen and has the same specs as my 5.2 inch variant, at a higher cost and has a bigger battery. It now comes with Nougat, so you can check it out, really. Or maybe you want a newer device? If so, you should probably wait a few more months if you can, since now it's a bit early. Although the G6 looks like a really great buy, but is a bit too expensive right now. Definitely better than the G5.

Had my G2 over 2 years never had a problem with it, battery still good, it was awsum in 2014 and it still holds it own aginst newcomers, 424 ppi screen full HD IPS gorilla glass 2 ? If only LG had made it with a card slot, better speaker and a 5.5 screen : ( ... but I can live with that just upload to cloud. I think LG stole a march on the competition with the G2 but failed to capitalise on their lead ith the G3, G4 and G5, the G4 from what owners have said goes into load-loop when it gets to about 15mths old, I keep looking for something with as much p'zaz as the G2 had when it came out but can't find anything as yet that sets my pants on fire, as an all rounder the G2 for the price you'll pay now is a no-brainer. I'm hoping the G6 will be the phone I'm looking for, if not it could be the new Honor9 but we'll see.

excellent phone. got it about 2 1/2years. but i broke 3 times the display. Glass is hard, but if you drop it on his corners its damaged. And the problem is that you have to replace all - glass, lcd display and battery. And this is expensive - about 40% of the phone price. I havent met suitable accessorie to prevent damages. Otherwise, very comfortable touch, fast browsing. Take 32Gb model. i got 16 and wasnt enough. Good photo editor. Generaly - very easy to handle with it, I used it VERY much and hard. Many days i have to recharge it couple of times per day.

It's very difficult to change the digitizer - glass part alone, it's glued into the lcd frame. A easy solution is to buy the whole LCD + frame set and replace the older LCD module.

Yes, you should be able to replace it. Find a technical service that can provide you with a certified LG G2 motherboard - do a research on the internet and call them on the phone (this is what I did). You will need to pay for the motherboard itself and for the service, so it might not be cheap, but since the G2 is an old model now it should be more affordable.

I tried flashing my G2 with the flash tool and after the flashing process my screen only displays white and black and sometimes coloured vertical lines and nothing else. Anyone knows what could have caused this. Don't know if it's hardware or software related. I've tried reflashing but problem still persists. Other than the display, all other features work just fine.

The local shops around here only willing to replace the entire frame + lcd+ digitizer and charging me like $80 for that. Maybe i will try ordering those $28 complete frame assembly...

I only bought the digitizer part in eBay, it cost like $7 and then i went to a local repair shop to replace the digitizer, that was almost a year and zero problems with the touch function since then. The complete set of LCD+digitizer with frame cost around $28 - $35 in eBay and it's way easier to install on the phone than replacing the digitizer alone.

I am Using LG G2.It is best cellphone in cheapest price according to all manners except its double tap sensor.It has a manufacturing problem with 90% G2 sets that their double tap sensor get out of order and damaged without any reason and because of it,its touch also starts to be damage.Same problem with my cell phone.So my advice to all people is that dont buy G2.Instead of it you can buy samsung S4 that is much much better than LG G2. Yes you can enable volte from this menu but volte feature solely depends on your cpu... volte needs to be enabled from the cpu side for it to work on the rom... otherwise that setting won't do anything....

I tried downgrading my g2 today from lollipop to jellybean. At some point during the downgrading process lg flash tool stopped and reported that download failed. Then the phone's display suddenly went all black and white and coloured striped. Nothing shows up on the screen but the phone is otherwise working. Touch and buttons. The only way to fix the touch problem of the G2 is replacing the digitizer part, for some reason LG service use a flawed part and the touch problem will return. I fixed the problem by getting a digitizer part in eBay from China, then I sent the G2 to a repair shop service that was 8 months ago and no problems at all.

Although the phone is perfect for all my needs but i have often seen many people complaining about it's most awful issue, and that would be it's touch issue... The phone is awesome by all means but, but LG phone has this touch issue which is like a leech that's keep on happening on the company's newer handsets... LG 3, LG G4, Even LG G5 users are facing this issue... Why LG is not aware of this issue..? Simply replacing the handset or display is not the solution of this problem! If you don't know which issue i am talking about just google "LG touch issue", you will know what i am talking about. It's a problem that has no solution beside replacing the entire set. It happens after a certain update or just random within few weeks to months after purchase. When i purchased my LG G2 i had no idea about this issue. But it happened with me as well. My handset had no warranty because it was imported unit, so i was like a sitting duck. At first it was just a simple row on the top of the screen that had no touch response and within 2 weeks the entire screen stopped responding. The only way to interact with the device was via usb otg mouse. I am sure this is just LG's one of the tactics to make buyers leave their older devices and buy the latest model instead, otherwise if the older model keeps on working then no one would feel the need of buying the new one. Besides this issue.. LG's G2 is one of the best model they have ever manufactured... I wish they could solve this issue... I have a perfectly good LG G2 sitting at my desk and it is such a shame that i can only control it via a otg mouse...

It should work as D800 by AT&T supports JIO LTE Band 5 (850MHz). Try going into phone menu *#*#4636#*#* from dialer and set it to LTE only, if you can't then Try going to settings enable mobile data or tethering and networks then mobile networks and set JIO apn if it isn't already set. If still no signal then you may need to root your device for that forcing the handset to use only band 5. Good luck

Today is the day when my G2 turned 2 years old.Never had a single issue,the screen works perfectly,the camera,everything is flawless.It has a custom rom Cloudy 3.3,overclocked,and is really stable.The only issue i would point out is the lack of software support from LG,and some minor heat issues.Battery life is on point,yes it fell a couple of times but never broke,and what really surprised me was that it never froze.It outlived my friends Z2 and destroyed it in every single way.Overall for me the most durable phone i have ever owned and i'm sad that i'm giving it away,but i'm 100% sure that it will serve my friend as well it has served me.

Touchscreen issues are most likely a hw failure unless you confirmed that another fw fixes the issue. Anyway I run official kitkat cause lollipop was shit. My camera wouldn't even focus in dark room on lollipop. With kitkat I can take pics of my sleeping cat again! Plus I like the looks of kitkat better... just followed a guide that popped on google for downgrading, not sure which one.

my Verizon lg g2 has been acting weird lately. part of the touch not working, gallery unable to load albums etc. my guess is it's software related so I decided to install a custom Rom for an upgrade as lg and Verizon leave us with a bugware called android 5.0.2. but here's the thing. LOVE my G2. Proud owner for 3 years now. Cracked my screen just before the Samsung S7 was released, so I went ahead and ordered the S7 to try it out. 14 days later, I returned it to the store, paid a $35 restocking fee and reactivated my G2. I took it apart (fairly easy), swapped out the digitizer/lcd, swapped the battery out for a new one, and I am back in business. Battery life is amazing on this phone. Features I enjoy on this phone are the knockon-on, bluetooth, and IR emitter (programmed to everything, tvs in all rooms, blu-ray, stereos, cable boxes, etc.). For some reason, the bluetooth connection on the G2 has MUCH better sound quality when streaming music to my car stereo. Deeper base, more rich sound than with S7. I had ONE bad experience with this phone. When I updated the OS (I forget which build) within 4 months of owning the phone, sections of the screen stopped responding to touch. AT&T had LG send me a new phone at no charge, and I have been all good since with updates installed. I still give this phone 2 thumbs up. I use the heck out of this phone from gaming with emulators, music, web browsing (use chrome), and being a network engineer I heavily use a terminal client to remotely manage devices.

There are lots of custom roms you can install on your lg g2 just google search the custom version you wish to install. I strongly recommend you use a cyanogem mod or paranoid custom rom.

I bought this phone used in March of 2015, upgraded it to Lollipop and it's a definite champ. It's been a flawless device up until recently. A small area of the touch screen (a distinct 'stripe' across the top 3rd of the phone) is no longer functioning. If it wasn't for that, I'd still be trying to rock this thing for as long as possible. Great camera, great screen, and it's fast enough to run absolutely everything I've thrown at it, including high-res games. I'm going to miss my little vs980.

I've had this phone for about three years now. I rooted it not too long ago and successfully running CM 13 on it right now. This is a cheap made phone but if you don't drop it and take care of it then you wont have any issues. The battery still gets me through the day and still seems pretty fast for its age. I would recommend this phone if you can find it cheap online. I don't think you should get a used one though.

this happened to me some times ... using lollipop ,,,, I do recommend is apply a factory data reset if doesn't work then take it back to kit kat ... if you are on kit kat then just flash the software again using lg flash tool ... if still doesn't then it is hardware issue.

By off i mean power off :P ive already solved the problem of google services times ago :P and i have no automatic updates nothing. My problem is the wifi not working and staying all the time connecting. I sent it to mobile service and they couldnt solve it. I am hoping of finding a solution before throwing it away or selling its screen and other parts.

If by Off you do mean screen is off : then you have to check Google play services... they have problems syncing accounts sometime and check wakelocks in the battery menu in settings. But if your phone is really shutdown and the battery is draining, then you probably have a short circuit on your motherboard. it may be a component or a group of component..

well im sorry to tell u that im coming back here just to say that im going to throw away this phone. wifi keeps not working and it heats my phone, drains battery, even when the phone is off. if the phone battery is 100% before i go to sleep, when i wake up its 5%. once i turned it off cause i needed to save battery, when i turned it on, no battery again. if anyone wants to buy it for the original parts....i accept offers. lg g2. bought in may 2014, no scratches. just wifi not working. pitty. i loved this phone a lot.

That IS the actual recovery mode tho. It does not work like on other phones on the LG. If you want to flash something you will need a pc prograam and hook up the Phone to the pc. You annot sideload or flash full roms like you can on many other phones. so what is it you want ot do ? that link should give you all you need but its helpfull to say what it is you need done here. As a sidenode. If your in a bootloop or other deep software issues its pretty much guaranteed you already lost everything on your Phone so you might aswell try the factory reset. as i said explain your problem further.

its somewhat more tricky then regular phones on the lg and might takes a few tries. 1. Turn the Phone off. 2. Hold power Vol down untill you see the LG logo. 3. Release the buttons and press them again. 4. Keep pressing the buttons ntill you see the recovery screen.

Korea model. lots apps annoying it consumes RAM. mobile gets heated up easily.. upper back and front. because of heating issue battery gets drained up fast. updates or not upto mark.. but existing OS works fine. auto brightness not managed properly screen sometimes flickers.. overall its very good phone.. with some cons.. Actually LG phones are very good.. i dont know why the reason they are not able to hit ..

well I sent it to service guys. they did all possible things from software and they said they cannot find a reason there. so their conclusion was to remove the IC wifi chip, but changing that, had a probability to ruin the phone totally as installation of it, is difficult. so i chose to keep it as it is. recently it seems to be working, only in rare cases it starts the problem. so i just turn it off and wait for it to cool down a bit. dont know how it started working and how it stops working, its really strange. anyway im still keeping this phone. it might have an old os, but the rest im happy as long as it works fine :P

It's a very powerful phone but runs on an old OS. Also the design is bit out dated. Slippery plastic. But everything else is perfect. Superb camera with OIS with 1.12 pixel size which is again excellent. Shoots videos at 60fps. Runs on SD 800, quite a powerhouse SOC. Will handle any game you throw at it. No hiccups or lags whatsoever. Surpass any mid range phones of these days even though it was made 3 years ago.

Overall the phone has a very good performance, great camera (not in night mode), very good battery life and some other features that im sure u have checked yourself already. The only problem though i have met myself recently, i just dropped my phone while removing it from charging, from chair down, and wifi doesnt work anymore. I really love this phone, but its such a shame that i am throwing it away just by one small drop. Maybe some will think that i can use it without wifi. In fact i tried that, but the wifi stays connecting, and i cannot turn it on or OFF. so it drains the battery and heats the phone. conclusion: good to use it, but one drop and u need a new phone. hope my comment will help on your decision. :)

I have the same problem. Nothing shaking inside, but just wifi wont connect anymore. I sent it to service and they told me they need to replace the IC chip responsible for wifi and bluetooth. But there is a high chance that they ruin the phone in the process of installing the new chip cause apparently it needs high professionalism and tools to do it right. Conclusion: just one drop from half meter of the phone and im throwing it away. Used to love this phone, now im just pissed off with it.

are you sure .... i dont think so as for now most of the custom romas are crap .. why because are incomplete and have bugs ... even the stock rom has them .... but the worst part of these issues are related to avery poor volume . we lose driver for the camera meaning that we get bad quality ... well unless you want performance over quality then go ahead a do it .... it is better for me to stick to the stock rom 5.0.2 wich has correct drivers for sound and camera so i wont be bothered by a low a dn poor sound quality ... cloudy is not perfect but is the only custom rom that i think i could use if i want g4 ux but not any other the ones for ndm , icex , unicors and other s are ugly .. and that stupid thing resizing the navigation buttons and notification bar to the smallest option avaliabl;e .. i dont have princess hands i have a man hands ...

Had it for about a year. Buying a new one for 230 $ was nothing but a complete steal. It's a beast and it just keeps on going. Solid battery run times! 7 hours SOT, 1,5 hours of browsing, 30 percent brightness.

Lately my phone displays white vertical lines on the screen. After some googling i found out some kind of screen connector when lose can cause this problem. This is the best phone i ever purchased. I have been using this phone since 2 yrs and it didn't even show a problem. It is working as fine as new. I've had this phone for two years and it has been working fine since. I've dropped it several times and I was surprised it never broke.I also had a pretty awesome case for it that was both cute and protective. It wasn't till recently that I had trouble with it. I think the last time I dropped it something inside came loose because I can hear it when I shake the phone. It also won't connect to the wifi anymore. I am due for an update with my carrier so I may switch to an Apple phone for the first time. To conclude, with proper care this phone will last you quite a while. It's been one of my favorite phones so far.

Hi, I recently bought a used lg g2. It was used since the day it came out and since then after I bought it the battery has maybe 5-6 hours screen on time. Usually, before I go to sleep and plug it in to charge I am left with around 25-40%. Basic tasks like that can handle it really easily and it is a good phone even to this day.

what might have occurred is that, your wireless antenna must have came out when it fell. if you open the phone, there are2 terminals each with a black and a white wire. those can be pinned in. check that either one of those did not come out of its socket. make sure you follow the wires and check on each end.

From what I read on internet, there were a lot of ppl with the same problem, as soon as they drop it. Im sure its caused by dropping cause i felt immediately after the drop, the wifi not working. I did a factory reset and nothing was solved. I sent it to the service, payed 50 euros for the new IC chip(wifi chip) that they put on it, and it still has the same problem. My phone is still at the service shop. And they said they had 2 lgs with the same problem but difficult to find out what they have. Waiting. when they find the solution, i will let you know.

hmm. im not the person qualified to help u on that. Personally i dont think its the charger. its either smth software (factory reset solves quite a lot of problems), or hardware (physical problem with touch or motherboard). If i were you, id take it to a good service shop for a quote. if its too expensive, consider buying a new one in the short future :P

i agree with you one hundred percent. Well touch is not damaged but sometimes it go crazy like am not even touching the screen, it automatically start typing and apps are opening by it self. (it happens only sometimes) one of my friend has told me that its happening because maybe you're using a local charger. Do think a local charger can cause such problem?

Apart from the very good features, im going to say the weak point of this phone. I dropped the phone from half meter distance to the floor, i have it protected with cover and glass for the screen. No scratch on it, but wifi got damaged. It stays all the time connecting and i cannt turn it on, i cannot turn it off. So battery drains and the phone heats. One small drop and you phone is ready to throw away. Consider this before deciding to buy it.

I'm looking for a replacement for this phone but can't find any. What I need is more or less an updated version of the LG G2. So, more RAM, faster processing, better camera. But I really like the size (of the screen - the phone is almost too big for my hands) and IPS screens, there seems to be nothing comparable as of 2015 or 2016. the files and the screen resolution are different those file were backed up for a particular model plus the android version play a role too if u are in lollipop that might be another issue too and the app version that u are using too .... so id suggest to download the game for ur g2 or simply do something better get a fifa 15 -16 because ur device is able to run it with no issues.

well pros and cons it has I used to use android stock wich gives to you aperformace boos but poor codecs for videos ,, camera functions , and a few good tricks such knowck on .... lg made me change my mind regarding a customized ui .... problem is a buggy rom .. not by lg this is google fault with poor optimized 5.0.2 lg is to be blamed since they didn't update the device to 5.1.1 shame on this

I have been using this phone for about 2 years as well. But in my case, the battery drains so fast nowadays, I have to recharge it twice a day even though I'm just a moderate user with wi-fi connection almost every night. On my first month after I bought this phone, my 5 years old kid dropped it from the chair he sat on to the floor (about 1/2 metre high) and the LCD just cracked right away. So I think it depends on your luck, whether you get the good product or the bad one.

i would have loved a 6.0 pdate as 4.4 and 5.x where shite but reality is its 3 generations old and they cant update endlessly. yes lg wants to laugh on Samsung support and devices but ... what they don't look at is on the poor update support provided I feel really terrible knowing that older devices with less power got 5.1.1 as its last update .. that's the main reson I feel disappointed on G2 camera after 5.0.2 update .beuty interface and performance but camera has an issue with autofocus and exposure , it keeps focusing and either catching more light or fixing focus .... this makes the camera laggy and most of the pictures gets out of focus ....blurry puictures ,,, wich makes me feel angry due to a mini version of the phone does a better job in low light .... any way if u want to love your phone in every single aspect then use kit kat ..... battery is better , has nice plug and pop that was removed , and better than that the camera speed is decent camera works as I should be if u choose the IA mode u notice that it freeze the action like on the tv comer .... if u are a G2 user and u don't care by much interface then select 4.4.2 and u wont be disappointed ... I do not recommend customer roms why ... well performce in cm 13 gets better amazingly better but audio is too low that I though that the audio profile was set to silent mode and I don't like that ..... and yes this is due to lg has not provided their audio drivers ....cheloz / cloudy / ndm are good but has too many bugs that u end flashing again a stock based rom ... cheloz rom is really buggy , cloudy rom ended boring me due to processing issues with camera and low camera sound ,,,, cloudy g3 rom has issues shuttering launcher I always keep my phone with apps running 1 at time so im not multitasking guy ....ndm is the worst due to ugly navigation buttons and when I say ugly is because they are really small I don't know why rom makers set this a default .... I don't have tiny fingers ....

Yes there is official update over the Lg official sofware. On my D802 lollipop work fine. I have root on my phone and I removed few apps. Battery life on lollipop is like on kitkat on my device. But the camera app is slow I am mad that they didnt fix that. Overall experiance is the same maybe lollipop is nicer to look at. I red that 5.0.2 is rubbish but mine works just fine with no lags except the camera. Maybe you wont be that lucky maybe you will.

There is, unless you have the Canadian model. That one didn't get official Lollipop. It works... about the same? Some people had problems with the update, some people experienced no problems at all, it added few new gimmicks, removed other gimmicks (the hotplug tray or the wireless storage for example). It gained few thousand points more in antutu, battery life depends on your usage patterns and your luck with the update (I suspect most of the famous update issues were caused by faulty processes of some legacy apps installed on the device going haywire and causing overheating and bad battery drain)

This is one extremely faulty phone. Specs wise it is great, design wise great but after a few months of owning it you'll get touchscreen issues out of nowhere, even when you pay a $100 dollars for a new screen it gets damaged after a few days. I'm never buying an lg product ever again

I was able to send an e-mail on lg Italy site , an one of their reps told me that current android version is 5.1.1 .... xd how is that possible ... she said that because I was able to send an attachement with a 5.1.1 leak picture from last year posted on a web site ..... so or are they preparing a 5.1.1 update or that laidy doesn't know where she is standing up ... For more than 2 and half years I was killing this phone daily 'cause I used it as my "work" phone: html coding, ssh, image editing, wrote 12 projects on it, supported 22 social accounts, made tons of calls, mails and txts and this thing keeps on going. Oh, it fell more than dozen times, hard. Few scratches and that's it. However, a month ago G2 was replaced by G4 DS (H818), but this (yes, I'm writing this comment on G2) phone is still in the house (my son, 3 years old, is using it). Still fast, clean, with awesome battery life (which I can't say for G4). This is the best smartphone there is. Fan of Nokia 6310 is telling you this!

lg is killing his customer not delivering updates neither g flex 2 to marshmallow neither lg G2 atleast to a decent fee bug 5.1.1 and the time of 5.1.1 ended so coming with such a software will be riduclus .... G2 is stronger than G3 performace related wich is what I needs for be able to move new os versions .... they gave 5.1.1 to midrangers but they left 5.0.2 to G2 ....with some Wi-Fi issues and even worst slower camera in low light that slow that u get blurry pictures from a moving object .. even indoors pics are blurry ... thing that kitkat doesn't have buuuttt.... kitkat has something that I don't know if we could call it worst even and it is than in indoors ... a moving object turns in to a water paint effect making look either people face like a cartoon so either blurry or cartoon but mnot a decent delivery ..... really bad that custom roms has better camera performace and im sure that if they could install the G3 camera image processing we could get excellent pics .... lg should fix these issues .. no wonder how can a moto g with 5 mpx freeze action that a 13 mpx struggles to do ....

Go to your settings and find the update option there. But I'm not sure it works for Lollipop update. Most people updated through the LG PC Suite. Wireless charging is supposed to be supported by one of the American variants... The Verzion one? The one with different back keys/camera housing. Otherwise no, unless you buy and install the induction coil manually.

I just replaced the whole screen and housing 2 hours ago, as I had a dead spot at the first link of a Google search, including [Images][Shopping][News] etc. You should FIRST install a Draw/Painting app. Drawing all around your canvas should show if there are dead spots in your screen. Once you determine dead spots, you can.. A) Buy a new screen and housing from etradesupply for ?0-60(USD) + shipping and replace it yourself (look for videos), COMPLETE DISASSEMBLY is required, or have someone who knows what they are doing fix it. Repair shops could cost 100USD or so. B) Sell it for what it is and buy a new/used phone. I replaced my screen and frame/housing after researching YouTube in about an hour. It's pretty simple. Be gentile and take your time.

@Rim... yes my friend G3 is strong,but phone as its-self is pretty much "dumb" because that QHD Display.Don't get me wrong QHD is beatifull and all that,but sucks out battery in blink of the eye.That's why i preffer using G2 for playing games,internet and such things and G3 for Photo-shooting,video-recording,playing music...Anyway G2 is great device and that QHD display was not necesseraly on G3 with his 5,5" size (too big if you ask me.and i have hands like "showels").

I've been using or rather abusing this phone for almost 2 years and I have to say, this one has been a soldier all along. So impressed by the hardware quality, battery life and performance (consider my not so heavy usage, I play light games, do a ton of social media stuff, click a few pics as well). So far its been one of the best phones I've used. Will be upgrading to a V10 or G5 in a month so, it is only the least I can do to give a review, a long pending one at that too. Well done G2, my firend!!

Well if it started after the upgrade, try to perform a factory reset but I guess you may end up having to try to download the whole set of software for the phone (XDA forums) and flash it manually (also on XDA. They have some pretty good tools and guides. Somebody there might even have had the same problem as you do so it's a great starting point). This might be a hardware malfunction as well, but as that other helpful guy already said, if that is the case, there is not much you can do so let's try to poke inside the software side thus solving the problem/confirming that it likely is a hardware malfunction.

It actually is better performance-wise. G3 has SD 801 which is fairly minor improvement over SD 800 but it has a QHD display so it has to push almost double the amount of pixels G2 has to and that's pretty taxing.

It is the same generation but I think they were a few months apart and that can make a difference. In this particular example it meant that S4 started rolling out equipped with Snapdragon 600/Exynos Octa SoC while the G2 was one of the first phones based on the more powerful Snapdragon 800. Note that there is a later S4 variant that has SD 800 as well so the OP should really make sure which variant is available.

Just installed new Beanstalk (Dirty Unicorns features) Marshmallow custom rom and its awesome with extreme number of customisation things.I have used before this a Google OS 1.5 custom rom (also perfect,but on Lollipop) on my D802 version 16gb with no problems...But this Beanstalk 6.0.1 is awesome,now instead of classic navigation bar,i have only Dirty Unicorn sign on middle of bar and i have set up custom actions for swiping across bar and tapping actions on bar ( you have classing nav bar by default,but you can enable this by yourself...easy and its cool).

it obviously depends on wich huawei. the newer expencive ones should be better but this is still a amazing Phone that can last you a long time even tho it will not get updated past 5.0. So depending on the price you need to choose. Huawei has a nice interface and battery life aswell so its only a matter of price i think.

I would suggest you monitor the running apps and services to find out exactly what drains your system resources. Another thing is- what did you do with the root? Root by itself does next to nothing. I know what you mean, heard it ever since I got the phone. I'm just guessing but I think the rattling has something to do with the OIS implemented into the phone. The OIS moves the camera lenses to compensate for shaking and light movement so it would kinda make sense that the lenses "rattle" as they are not fixed in position. But I agree, that you should not shake your phone too violently. If it has mechanical parts, it can be easily damaged by physical stress.

And you are on 4G (LTE) or 3G? Have you tried to switch between 4G and 3G? My network carrier is Turkcell. When I'm on LTE (4G) my LG G2 tries to send an SMS two times. Some times it says that the SMS was not send but the receiver gets two SMSes. The issue does not occur when on 3G.

there are two or more resons but if ur phone was purchased from a mobile carrier in yout country and ur are using it on same network then chek if 4g lte is selected in network mode.or simply take a look at the top of ur device lte should shouw up on the screen status bar.... if not go to settings ,select mobile networks and then make sure that lte or atleast 3g/ umts is selected..... u need to make sure that your carrier has not throttled your data plan ...usually they reDUCE DSATA SPEED OR in worst of cases u got a phone not compatble with ur carrier 3g/ lte networks ...so call them and find out buddy. ask to then for the network or bands they use for 3g / lte srervice.

surely ur phone is not compatible with the network u are using if u are getting 2g on screen or maybe is because u have not selected the option on settings,find mobile networks and then select network mode,select 3g or lte ,then restart ur phone to see if this works other wise,, ask to ur carrier wich bands are used for lte/3g service in order for u to find out if the model is compatible.

it depens on the device model if it is D800 then u must rooted and update it from 20c build to 20y and then to lollipop 30f using manual ota method trough terminal emulator .... if it is 802/.801./ or another then u must hit lg pc suite and upda from there.

Depends on what you need it for, honestly, compared to the current latest flagship its still a very fast and capable beast. With each small incremental changes, is it really worth paying hundreds for brand new or having to get locked in on a plan. I just bought this used $120, routed to Marshmallow and get weekly if not daily updates. Love it.

him rim this is julio i have a couple of questions for u ..... ****// first is xcam app that good .// ***** ... because ...on kk camera is really fast as good as tv commercials said it would be but some times processing is bad .. atleast low light ... no blurry but insted a fade effect ..like multiple shadows something like that ..... with lp the camera is not as sharp as kk but at same time slower that slow that if u try to catch a photo of ur baby it will move and ull get a ruined pic due to was not looking at the camera and because of the movement it will be blurry .. so blurry photos almost all time with moving objects .... good is processing but for steady ...kitkat with itelligent auto works fine u notice when it freez the action with lp does the same like auto mode ...... xcam well i dont know it is like g2 pro camera because has same options slowmotion and 4k recording ... do we face issues like the one founds on kk / lp or is the balance between then ......... **** second troubles with autorec ***** my phone is D800 kitkat 20c ...just installed trough flash tool clean installment .... the only thing i do is .....root my phone with towel root and then install super su installing normal binaries .....restar my phone ...once it is back on i do install autorec for D800 after grant permissions it say cheking for loki ... installing .. and freeze if i press back and i try to re enter on the app then i get error message saying that loki-tool is missing and i must manually install it ...... well ...this is weird ... first time that i installed cloudy i did same process for me be able to prepare the phone installing twrp .. but im facing this issues now... and i have no idea what is this loki tool about ..... why last time it worked and now it wont ....... do u have any other methoed that i could use ..... again D800 / 4.4.2 / 20c / rooted already . thanks for feedback.

Depends if you manage to transition flawlessly. If so, then the performance will be better, battery life comparable depending on your usage pattern (some new battery saving gimmicks but they depend on your habits). Camera is somewhat slower but... overall about the same. Something felt better, something felt worse... I'm using the Xcam with adv camera drivers anyway.

100 hours + is my standard and with that i get 6 to 7 hours screen on time over that time. Wehen it was new i would get 8 to 9 hours screen on time or 140 hours standby but for some reason it went down fast past month. Think my new provider is the blame.

I managed to kill the battery once in 10 hours... continuously browsing on the internet with 100% screen on time. So yep, depends how you use your phone. Plus it may slightly differ from one version of Android to another. Most of the time I reach 75 hours of uptime with like 2 hrs on screen these days... but I am the person to charge it at least at 25-30%. On 2G I think over 100 hours is realistic if you don't play with it. :) But then again, my phone is already year old, new one may hold up better.

Rooting,installing twrp,flashing custom rom is easy.Well i have learned trough some easy understanding tutorials from XDA site,those guys are masters of androids.First of all find out model you are using (in my case its D802 model),because you need to know that before starting to do anything (some custom roms are model specified and flashing methods maybe can be little different,but not too hard to do yourself,all you need is to be smart enough to read and to follow instructions without your intuition or any "shortcuts" :D ).In my case,i have learned all this in about 15 minutes and i don't understand english absolutelly 100%.

ill suggest same method .... if u did trough ota then push ota trough settings again if u did trough lg pc suite then push it again or if u did trough flash tool then u must use ota option but for manual update this manual method is avaliable for D800 (G2 at&t version )

But you should rephrase first. Of course it can perform better, the numbers are crystal clear about that, but will it? That depends on you. Do you just want to use the device as a phone/light internet or media browser/notepad? Then you won't likely notice much of a difference. Are you heavy gamer and do you use tons of demanding apps? Then the SD 800 should have a decisive edge performance-wise. Take a sober look at your needs and expectations. That should help you see whether you would be able to utilise the potential of your device or if you would not lose much if anything by picking the device which has the features you want. Or you can bypass this dilemma completely by picking one fo the Korean variants of the G2 (there are three with different LTE band sets). Korean G2s have both SD 800 and memory card slot.

@G5 i agree with your point of view on all this.But probably is because they launched G3,G4,G5...where is g3 slightly stronger with his 2.5 ghz Krait on snapdragon 801 with same 2 gb rams and 16/32gb but with micro sd slot card....G4 is kinda failure,because they rolled G5 very fast.Main difference and largest difference is Camera 13mp on G2 and G3,while on G4 and G5 is 16mpx....Even batteries are same size on g2 g3 g4...on g5 is 2800 instead of 3000 mAh as usually,cuz they are showing off with their brand new Kryo processor 64bit architecture and they testing now batterie limits with this processor.

Oh yeah,almost forgot it,before starting doing anything do homework-check is your G2 D800/D801/D802....etc etc etc...and do Backup,its up to you.Some roms like M custom roms on 6.0 Android OS version maybe will need slightly adjustments with camera,but dont worry-simply installing another camera app will do the job.

@Rahab I dont think there will be official M update,because there is only 5.0.2 as latest official version of Android OS,but you can always root your phone,release this G2's inner beast and flash twrp-custom rom of your choice(one you will find perfect for yourself).Personally i recommend everyone to root,install twrp and flash custom rom,because totally stock rom is like having s*x with condoms,if you get me? :) (kinda safe,but feeling is dead) :D

I got installed,Google Edition 1.5 debloated stock rom on 5.0.2 android trough TWRP,also i have flashed Snapdragon Camera.Honestly that Snapdragon Camera is excellent,pictures have extra quality,focusing is insane but needs some skills if using manual focusing and video recording is stabilised to maximum with also extra quality.So,untill 6.0 android custom rom does not come out as 99% stable official,im sticking to this rom on 5.0.2.There are some 6.0 roms given as official,but i dont find them stable as they should be,those roms are about 95% finished,but 4-5% makes huge difference.

I have one. It's WiFi and Bluetooth is dead. The dead consumes the battery like crazy it gets hot reaching 41 degree Celsius. Now the touchscreen is malfunctioning it's keep pressing a spot on a screen by itself. Now I just use it for taking pictures because it still works. But my brother's same exact phone, LG G2 32GB, is working just fine until now though he bought the phone earlier than me. I really suspect that my charger is the culprit. They might be common international bands as well, which would be used on an international plan. Of course, country restrictions would still apply if the phone doesn't support that region.

All G2 models support 4G connection. Just different frequency bands. The American models support frenquencies used in America... but why would they support for example some Asian-only bands if the device was never intended to be used there? That's what the problem is about. You should check the bands used in your country and by your particular carrier and compare them to the bands supported by each individual G2 model so you find out which models are compatible with your local networks.

not infact i have no proof..it was something that i read on a website cant remenber the name now... everyday i check for a single clue or news related to this amazing phone ....well in that site they said that it was a verizon unit under testing with 6.0 but well no picture attched so might be a rumor ..... about 5.1.1 there was a picture so for me it might be real ..... it was using stock for 5.1.1 on a lg D802 back in july 2015 . so iguess that lg might provide a 5.1.1 after all but then my doubt is why not releasing it if devices are being updated now to 6.0.... might be that lg insted wants to provide 6.0 to us.....i was reading a few weeks ago #lg g2 on twitter lg italy... an user was aking about support and future updates for the G2 and they said that dont have any official information but dont give up lg will still get updates ...well i dont know if he emans security patches or a big update on it. lg D800 has lollipop 5.0.2 and latest biuld is 30g ... people ususally have 30f but because of all troubles they face rooting the device,any way 30g is not something big just a patch but..... well lest see what happens.

Really? Could you share some evidence of those Verizon 6.0 models? I just recall that leaked 5.1 benchmark and they later concluded that it was likely some AOSP as the device did not even run on stock frequencies etc

well this is because surely u tried to install a customer rom cloudy or cyanogen or u tried to use a customer recovery... thats only way u can get this situation because i had to restore my phone while trying to install a customer rom,process failed and i was getting too many errors while having the device plugged on the computer....after iinstalling factory data img everything will be fine,...make sure that u have the right model before to download and flash any file other wise ull get things worst.

Yeah, it might be, but I'm not sure. I think you said you had the Verizon model, right? I read that the American carriers are using MEID instead of an IMEI so it might not be wrong... maybe there is somebody else with the VS980 who can verify if it shows MEID only. Anyway, it might still be advisable to try and flash a new ROM and/or try to figure out what you did wrong the first time. You said soemthing about downloading a new set of radios. That is one possible cause if the radios don't correspond with your model/region. Hmm and I see you mentioned doing ESF backup. Could you tell us more about that? That might help to restore the device.

i think u should look for lg stock software and complete a factory restore. this should fix ur issue,if im not wrong flash too should work for u same as it works for d800 ... there is a modified dll file in case u used another G2 variant set up during download / intall files.

I'm not annoyed with you, I'm grumpy 24/7. So, to check your IMEI- go to settings->about phone->phone status or something like that. Hopefully you should see the number there. If it's wrong, void, null etc, then Houston, you have a problem. About the rollback. Well, when you installed the custom recovery, it unlocked several options for you. Not only does it allow you to install custom ROMs, mods etc but it also allows you to backup a recovery image of your device. Frankly, that's the first thing you should do. Create at least one complete backup involving not just the system but all the sensitive partitions like the EFS partition, radio partition (the ones that will reduce your phone into a wifi-only tablet if damaged). Hopefully you did that and you still have the recovery image somewhere. Then you should just boot into the recovery by holding a certain googlable key combination when powering up the device and use the image to easily restore your device to a previous state. If you don't have any, then check your IMEI etc and I would suggest searching the "back to stock" thread on XDA, picking suitable official ROM for your device and flash it manually. Hopefully it will work and if your IMEI is damaged, most guides recommend you to restore it from an official ROM anyway.

Are you absolutely sure you downloaded the correct files for your phone? I'm a bit worried that your sim card doesn't work anymore. That could be caused by a corrupt IMEI. That is a serious problem. Still possible to repair, but serious. So check if the system recognizes the IMEI of your device if you will. But okay. I guess that when you installed the TWRP you didn't create a complete backup, did you? If you did, start the recovery and roll back to your old build. Then you can make sure you did everything right and possibly try again. But why CM? Even if you can't get an OTA, you could still get the official Lollipop ROM through the LG PC Suite or through the LG flashtool (search for G2 back to stock thread on XDA).

Hello guys! I'm in trouble! My lg g2 (vs980) is not universal, and I'm from Nigeria which makes it difficult for me to get OTA updates so I decided to look for an alternative way of getting lollipop. So I followed the steps in a youtube video by a developer (probably from xda). Haven rooted my phone with stump, I downloaded cm12, gapps, efs back up thread, autorec, some jellybean radios and latest twrp recovery all from xda developers forum. Following the guidelines, I install autorec and "downgraded my boot older", then I boot into recovery, flash the latest twrp, whip data as instructed, flash the cm12, flash the gapps, everything as instructed and then I reboot. I don't know what went wrong. Happy I was, as here comes the lollipop but little did I know that this indeed would be my worst experience on a device ever. My sim card doesn't show anymore, Media; videos and music no longer play - in fact, anything that has to do with sound even from third part no longer works, games no longer play at all and camera no longer works. The only thing that works well is the wifi connections with which I'm able to send this email now. I consider the fact that autorotation, auto brightness, knock on, slide aside and quick window are not working as minor problems but obviously, I can't do without the earlier ones mentioned. Pls I seriously need help on either how to resolve those issues or better steal, how to go back to my normal lovable lg g2 that I used to know. Whoever has any idea Pls help me, I can't use my phone for anything. I really missed my phone and I need it back. Thanks, looking forward to ur help.

i hope lg fix camera autofocus issue ....on 5.0.2 on D800 i dont know if happens the same on other varians....when using kitkat it focus faster and sharper...but with lollipop it is soft and doesnt focus properly some times u focus something and keeping the camera steady refocus and gets blurry then it focus right again but it is jut few times not alway but for me is an issue anyway ... not counting that shooter speed is really slow.. even moto g 1rst gen is faster than the G2 and it is the only thing makes me get mad with it ... it has nothing to do being the phone f 2.4 since old iphone 4 is 2.6 or 2.8 if im not wrong and takes faster pictures even old gen xperia play takes faster pictures ..... i dont know what is that about ...... but even even a g2 mini has a faster focus...... i know this is not a defective phone due to im not anly one xperincing this. so kitkat is beter for G2 camera and i hope a 5.1.1 or 6.0 version could do something

Last month I bought a refurbished LG G2 Korean version and I have to say, this is a deal in which is awesome in every single way, even in 2016! Korean version is kind of one of a kind unique from the other ones, they surprisingly have SD card slot (Model F320L), an antenna which actually works as a signal booster and a removal battery. Inside this old boy is yet another surprising experience, with Android 5.0.1 L and a hot Snapdragon 800. Well after those there's the downside, the phone itself heats up like a hot pan. The battery in this version is smaller at 2610mAh and the build in software of Korean version annoys you to the edge, even after uninstalling those (rooted) they never failed to reinstall itself BACK from the Playstore without permission. In conclusion, this 3 years old bad boy is still the king of >200 dollars smartphones. Think about it, a phone with a better version of the normal Android Lolipop and a CPU which was the king of CPUs. I have to say it is hard to find a Korean version if you want the SD card slot but, once you do, 100% no regrets:)....... P.S. the 2610mAh battery is still very strong so don't worry about it.

if your LG G2 getting hot, you have to uninstall apps Cleans master and AVG anti virus or the other anti virus, and then you have to clean your phone cached data ( setting, general, storage and then you klik cached data and you klik OK)....I am sure your phone will be back to normal n very fast.

You can change it yourself, but that depends... is your device under warranty? If so, I wouldn't recommend it as it will void the warranty. You can pry the back cover off, unscrew a few screws, disconnect two flex-cables and remove a small secondary PCB to get to the battery. Look the process up on youtube. It is doable but not easy. You should scrutinize your usage pattern and the risks of your average day to see which case would be fitting for you. I just got a noname flip cover and a sheet of hardened glass on the display. So far the phone survived in near-pristine condition. There are some really heavy and rugged cases like the Otterbox series but still, nothing is impervious and even with the biggest, baddest phone-protector you take a risk every time you drop the phone. More so I believe it may even be a bit counterproductive as the use of a heavy-duty case can indulge you in a false sense of security and encourage riskier behavior.

Well, the S II was released in 2011, not 2009 and received its last update in 2013 (Android 4.1). There are new unofficial ROMs for it, just as there are unofficial ROMs for the G2, no difference there. If you need some kind of troubleshooting for the "failed update after rooting" please be more specific on what did you do and what files and methods were used and why they failed. As for "simple update," yes, rooting your device can interfere with the ability of your device to receive OTA updates, that is not uncommon nor LG specific issue.

It has been a good phone for 2 years now. Like the LG phone though. No trouble. Good battery life, ast. Miss not being able to easily replace the battery if/when it starts to go bad. Also would have been nice to have an external memory card slot although I never needed the extra storage. Would have used it for music mostly. I wanted to move it to another carrier after the contract but that isn't going to be an option. Either going to have to stay with my current carrier or get a new phone. $$$ up front to get a similar phone may make the cost of going to the new less expensive carrier with no contracts harder to do.

thats a good ... i really enjoy my g2 camera too,... to be honest the g2 camera options are way betetr that u could get on g3 .....lack a lot of things this is horrible.... i found that out after installing cloudy 3.3 ....i was so extited installing that rom but after all didnt pass 30 minutes when i was back on my laptop flashing 4.4.2 ...... well in my opinion with this version the camera apps works similar to the tv commercials.... and intelligent auto works just great ... it captures moving objets quick and no blurry on the pics.... even more detail i did notice.... besides colors are warm .... well i like cold colors a lot but ..getting more details and perfect pictures with no blurry efefct on them is a stay for me ..plus kitkat has features removed on lollipop like wi fi storage... and plug and pop wich i really like.... even the lockscreens animation looks amazing foe me... only soda

hi rim i was able to flash 4.4.2 on my d800 downgraded due to had problems rooting the phone in lollipop,tried king root, and it was failed no matter if was completed from the phone or from a pc,also tried another method if im not wrong they guy is called max lee on his youtube channel, well now im running old 4.4.2 20c version if im not wrong.... should i flash 20y in order for me flash later cloudy 3.3 or as long as this is kitkat i can do it with no problems .... i think this is the easiest way for root and flash any rom.... i did this because im bored of waiting for a stock rom from lg and besides i think ..they wont deliver anything else than 5.0.2

You can get it replaced at a service center or do it yourself, preferrably only go for the DIY solution after the warranty expired as there is no way you will not void it by the process. You need to gently pry off the back cover, unscrew some tiny screws, disconnect two flex-cables and remove a small secondary PCB if I recall it correctly. You can find lots of step-by step videos on youtube. Just look up LG G2 battery replacement or LG G2 disassembly and the likes.

As far as I know, if you use the autorec to install a custom recovery on your device, it takes care of your bootloader at the same time. Just make sure to perform a complete backup once you get the recovery up and running, it can save you a lot of nerves later.

Well, everything has its pros and cons. The lollipop update removed some premium features the kitkat had, but that was not a big problem for me. I wasn't using most of them, but I do miss the wifi storage, that one was useful. Overall I had no problems with Lollipop so although it took some using to, I was not really looking back. Now I run on the Cloudy 3.3 and that's also fine. There's still some bugs but nothing really major. But it does feel powerhungry. Subjectively it felt to be draining the battery noticeably faster than the stock Lollipop did, but if you pair it with some 3rd party kernel like the Dorimanx, you can tweak the performance and battery life very much to your liking. I have not heard of Cheloz before. Looks interesting. Still, many of the more advanced features look to be a wip but it might be worth a shot.

Every G2 has a 4G capability. It differs in the supported regional frequencies, meaning a phone intended for use in the USA might not be compatible with the networks in Europe or Asia etc. Check the frequency bands supported by your model and compare them to the bands used in your country.

well yes thats true there are d800 and d801 running 4.4.2 for a d802 lg G2 phone,this problem occurs when flashing trough pc 5.0.2 lollipop because you are installing a not compatible built... the result is a touch screen not working properly. so it means u have to flash the right rom on it,but only way to know it is by unmounting the phone back cover,or just by flashing another phone rom like u did,untill u find the right phone...... but this happen most of the time when purchasing used or refurbished devices... certainly a refurbished from factory will say that on box ....besides with these type of phones there is no garantee that a part was never chnaged,call it display,battery,camera,sendor,lens... and if u have never used the phone u will never know..... in my case u was a lucky guy and i got .... a d800 ,it came witn the protective plastics,charger,data cable and sim ejector..... plus official content preloaded 2 videos and vienna boys mp3. ...so exactly u get what u paid.

I suggest you to not update to lollipop using pc even if pc suit shows, because there are some fake phones in the market: they change even IEME number. I've already one bad experience with this kind of lg g2 d802. Your phone will be ok with kitkat 4.4.2.

Check the frequencies used by your carrier and compare them with the frequencies supported by the device. Also check the H+ coverage in your area. But I found out the LG devices sometimes don't display the + symbol even though they are connected to the H+ network. Test the speed of your connection. Hopefully you'll exceed the H speed threshold and that would mean the only problem is the icon being displayed.

Okay i understood, in my area there isn't 4G Network yet so we are managing 3G. But one is that my sis Galaxy s5 will show HSPA + when i put data on or maybe try to browse the net but my lg g2 D802 international won't, it always show H even when am downloading and both same location. I selected WCDMA as my preferred connection but still it won't show HSPA + especially during downloading. Is it that lg g2 D802 international doesn't support it or maybe am not getting it right with the Settings thanks.

No, never as I don't use mobile networks. Both H and H+ are hi-end 3G networks. H is the symbol for HSPA (7.2 download/3.6 upload) H+ is the symbol for HSPA+ (up to 42.2 download/5.76 upload on the G2) Next step is speedier 4G network which is also supported by the G2. So this issue most likely boils down to the kind of service provided for your area. You should get in touch with your carrier if you feel your Internet connection should be better.

Well, the instal guide on XDA says you need to have a KK bootloader. The FAQ then states that if you have a working custom recovery, you should already be on KK bootloader but if not, you may still be on JB bootloader and if that's the case, then the easiest way to make sure aout that is to use the Autorec, which should fix your bootloader and install TWRP recovery (custom recovery is important if you screw something up bad) at the same time. And to use the Autorec you need to have rooted device. So it kind of everything fits together. But frankly, I don't remember what I used to root my device. I searched the XDA, found a couple of guides, one of them worked out.

It may be just dirty, or it may be scratched. The sapphire glass covering the back camera is usually fine, but the antiglare coating on it can get scratched rather easily and this can produce a noticeable blur. If that is the case, it is possible to replace the glass altogether or get some fine abrasive (something akin to silver polish should work fine) and use it to remove the coating completely. This solves the blur but of course removes any glare-reducing properties so you should take some extra notice of the light sources in your photos.

Are you sure it is a software and not hardware problem? If so, your options seem to be limited to those not requiring any touch input. Maybe performing a hard reset could fix it (This works for me although I have seen a slightly different guides)- turn the device off, then press the power button and the volume down buttons and hold them until you see the LG logo. Release the buttons and then press and hold them again. White screen with a warning about imminent data loss should come up. That screen is navigable through volume and power buttons so no touch required.

So this is the verdict: I had the phone for 1 year now and the phone yes it has flaws and other issues but overall its a good bang for your buck.Very good camera,a nice screen,and nice design are all a small part of the many things this phone has.Android Lolipop on this phone is some what stable and my give some users like it did to me a slight over heating issue.Now the phone is to mod if you get sick of the normal look you can always install Cloudy G2 3.3,and you can root it now over kingoo root.The phone is durable,fast,the screen is nice and crisp,it never froze once but if you want the phone to peform at its very best just leave android 4.4.2.For its 230€ price tag now its a better choice than a G3 that has slight lag and battery issues.

it can be both but hardware is more likely. there was a firmware update that fixed some of these issues so first try updating to a more recent version if its still on 4.2. no need to install 5.0 as it should have bin fixed in 4.4 if its still not working your screen is broken. not sure about the repair costs.

@ Sunny Not quite true. The phone is old, that is a fact and as such it is becoming difficult to find one in good condition but otherwise... Most of the advanced features you mentioned are supported by the phone. Even the wireless charging is supported by one of the American variants and is by no means standard feature even today. The point about software is right, but frankly, the Marshmallow is not yet such a leap forward over Lollipop. You should probably make clear what league of devices are you comparing. The newest flagship phones have already surpassed the G2 by far but even though it sports old hardware, it is still more than competitive in its current price range, where the "high midrange phones" are usually significantly crippled to not weaken the sales of flagship products and where the old SD 800 is still slightly faster over the new SD 615 and 617 used on many of such devices.

sorry but u are wrong ... all advance features that u mentioned lg G2 have then already i think that u dont have the device and if u do them i only use it for chat..... even being old this phone is one of the few that garante excellent battery life,good screen to body ratio size and performace ... graphic card is still good it can run all games valiables if that is the case,emulators too,, but if u want to chat then u get a lot of battery juice with the G2 personally i dont care a lot about software updates as long as u have skinned ui,because it has more features that stock android still doesnt include so... i dont care about new versions that exclude and then include features example disturb / silent mode.... if u really use the device with all cores and gpu then go for a galaxy phone for 2015 but if u love lg then wait for sd 820 it ll beat everything .... and if updates are a concern then get an iphone.

Would suggest you to buy a new phone with a latest chipset and some more advanced features like Wireless charging,NFC,Quick Charging & some other advanced features. No no and NO! 99% of these apps do the exact opposite! They disable apps but your phone will automaticly restart them most of the times. That means it costs cpu time = battery to disable apps + it costs cpu time = battery to keep this battery app active which is the biggest drain + it costs cpu time = battery to reenable the disabled apps. If your phone works correctly they will not use power anyway. The only thing you can actualy save power on on your Phone are the following things: - Disable gps when not using it. - Disable mobile network data when at home. - Disable bluetooth when not using it. - Learn to live with lower brightness! (massive save as after gpu and gps its the nr1 drain!) - Disable Syncing this can be a big save This will stop the mail program from auto recieving mail but you can do this manualy by dragging the screen down anyway. it will also stop the auto functions of some other apps like syncing to the cloud which can be a massive drain. Disabling wifi when leaving home does save some battery but that amount is so small i would not bother as most likely the fact you might forget to enable when coming to a location with wifi costs you more battery then disabling will gain you (less then 1% a day on a correctly functioning G2). So manage that things and stay away from these horrible battery apps. Also battery calibration does not excist so stay away from those aswell those apps should be removed from the play store by google! Do this and 7 hours screen on over 3 days should be easy as a medium user. a heavy user might get 6 hours a light used that doesnt use a lot of apps like me easely should get 8+ hours of screen on time with 72 hour standby. My record is 10 hours 15 min over 4 days with just whatsap usage.

Either the LG app manager which tells you the basics of what is running at the moment, then the seetings->apps which is more complicated but you can get more info out of it, especially coupled with the battery settings where you can see what is eating up your battery the most (and a lot of heating usually means something is sucking out the juice so its good to combined these two to find the culprit) and the settings->apps one also lets you to kill and remove the unwanted apps and processes. Note that you shouldn't just force-close stuff unless you're sure about it. Or you can download some task manager out of the play. There are billions of them, some good, some bad, some free, some paid... depends on your tastes.

F320 is a designation of one of the Korean models with smaller, replaceable battery and an SD card slot. The heating might be caused by some software-related factor. Try to check what is using your system resources while the phone gets hot.

All are LTE capable, just on different bands. D802 should be LTE 1800MHz capable and if your sim works fine on other devices there should be some other problem. Is your phone set up for the Internet? I don't use mobile networks myself so my information is badly outdated in this regard but I do recall that with my last phone I had to call my carrier's automated customer line, select that I want to set up the Internet on my device and then I received an SMS data packet to hook my phone up to the service.

There is no word about official update so the only way to get Marshmallow as of now are the AOSP-based custom ROMs such as the Cyanogenmod.

Is the phone new or used/refurbished? Was it recently upgraded to Lollipop? Check what is running in the background and using up your system resources, either through the inbuilt monitor or using some 3rd party system monitoring app. There is likely some rogue service that may be either removed or if it's something tied ot the system, hint that it might be preferable to perform a complete factory reset/reflash the ROM.

Till now kitkat is the best android update for the LG G2. The Lollipop upgrade is buggy as alot of problems start coming in after the update like battery draining rapidly,screen flickering,flash light running automatically etc. While there are many grapevines regarding LG G2 to get the marshmallow update soon enough. Yesterday LG has rolled out 6.0 for their LG G4 and G3,somehow LG G2 is not a part of it. Though i'm hoping to get Marshmallow update soon but all the news and informations suggest it won't be coming . Hope for the Best. However you can use Cynaogen Mod 13. I own an LG G2 myself. It is a very good phone definately because in the last 1. 5 years it's been running great. But Somehow i'm bored with the look of it and wanted to see a new look of marshmallow. Lets hope for the best.

Well there is no internet connection shown on this screenshot. Keep in mind my phone is either on Wi-Fi or 2G internet at minimum 100% of the time. I can't go without it as then I'd have no whatsapp or Facebook. And yeah, I let them run in the background. Just saying that on my subjective normal usage I could never go 5 days without charging or reach 9 hours on screen time while I can on kitkat. Maybe I got unlucky with the lollipop build or something. I could live with that, but the fact my camera could no longer focus in the evening was unbearable.

You know, I can't really say I'm mad I can't enjoy 9 hours of Screen on Time anymore since I am on Lollipop - Just a little reminder that such numbers are ultimately useless and misleading without proper context. You can drain the phone in a few hours just as easily as you can make it run for 100+ hours regardless of the Android version. It's not rocket science.

Guys, don't upgrade to Lollipop if you can still cherish 9 hours on screen time or 5 days of mild usage (atm over 3 hours on screen time after 130 hours without charging and still 25% battery left - was on WiFi mostly though)... I could get maybe half of that on Lollipop even after factory reset. I decided to downgrade because I was done with it, it took away the things I bought the phone for. Most annoying was the fact my camera would not focus 9/10 times when it got a little dark. Now I am back to stock KitKat and I'm simply loving having my phone back after a few months of torture. Hardwarewise they are pretty close. Nexus has smaller display, wireless charging coil (some G2s have that too), lacks back buttons, has smaller battery and its camera doesn't sport as many megapixels. For me the main difference is software. Nexus is running stock straight from Google. So if you prefer Android in its cleanest form (and MM) you might like the Nexus more. G2 uses the LG UI with its own set of features and gimmicks but it is unsure whether there will be any updates past 5.0.2

Depends on what functions you use. For example the quickmenu of apps popping up everytime you connect something or the wifi storage got scrapped. Otherwise... some improvements, some downsides, very different design. Frankly, it's not such a huge step forward and unless you feel the need to stay current, there is fairly little making the Lollipop update a "must have." Some even shun it for a series of problems with heating, lagging and battery drain but as nothing of the sort ever happened to my device, I think the problem is likely tied to the presence of some older 3rd party apps and services getting damaged and out of check during the update process, not necessarily the update itself.

As far as I know, there is no official Android 6.0 ROM available for the G2 as of now. There are some AOSP-based 6.0 ROMs, but I think that those are still in Beta. So if you use one of these, you will lose the LG-specific gimmicks, some of the more delicate drivers (like the camera) and you may face more or less bugs and issues specific to your chosen ROM (check their sites for the changelogs and lists of known issues) as I'm not actually sure there is any stable release of 6.0 for G2.

What can I say about this phone that has not already been said... it is wonderful... 5.2" screen with thin bezels, 32 GB, True-HD LCD 1080p screen (its beautiful).... radio, nfc, infra red and 3000mh battery... this is better than many 2015 flagship phones..... and its almost 3 years old.!! Simply fantastic...... I am on 5.0.2 andriod version and the phone is great... also changed to the red back cover with a bit of grip..... whay should I change this phone..... it still does everything I want and quickly too..... buttery..... this phone was way ahead of its time.....

Go for any other phone than lg g2. I have been owning it since 8 months..and I never reached a point when i was using this phone happily without any glitch. The latest one is that after restarting it, the phone has lost its imei number and it is not able to connect to any network. Apart from this there has been many glitches in this phone. Brace yourself if you are buying this phone because you are going to repent this investment.

well G2 and G3 are good devices ...ill tell u difference this way..... G2 screen is brighter and has way better contrast than G3 wich means better picture quality ....being 1080p for a 5.2 inches screen this is good ......over 400ppi ull never notice a pixel with a naked eye .....G3 strengh is only based on 2k screen wich is crisper but this is something you will notice only when putting G2 next to G3 believe me. camera G2 after being updated to lollipop was able to keep a lot of features like nioght mode,sport,beauty shoot,shoot and clear, and anothers wich are no longer present on G3 .... G3 strengh is based on a newer sensor wich captures just by a bit better pics only by point and shoot... we have to keep in mind that this one has laser focus wich improves the autofocus speed... something really good.... wich is the only down side some times for G2 when it comes to shutter speed in low light ... but if know how to use iso,exposure,white balace...u should be able to take excellent pics out from G2 and u wont miss anything from G3 but just the speed focusing. battery life G2 is a champion back in the screen realm G2 use 1080p and G3 2k wich taxes a lot the cpu and gpu and even with low brightness consumes more power.....i can tell u that a G2 50% brightness has a betetr screen to look at than G3 at same percent even legible in outdoors ....plus the bennefit of 5-6 hours of onscreen time using wi-fi for browser,wassp, and most of the time youtube video streaming at 720p to 1080p video quality..... in a period of 24-48 hours after a 100% charge i have the doubt that a G3 could achieve something like this with these settings and timing.....by the way if u dont use the device this way,... then u could get few days of battery . processor on G3 is hardly diffreent from G2 .... sd800 and sd801 are similars ....just overclocked cpu and gpu but...diffrenece can be noted using same screen resolution 1080p for example and size in order to keep ppi count.... due to the 2k screen wich taxes cpu and gpu .... now the G3 on this department looks more like a predecesor than a sucessor in more demaning task... example gta san andreas game at higher graphics ... u can look for it at youtube... u ll notice G2 performing excellent and G3 lagging in front of it. depending of ur likes ... 5.2 inches is an am azing size with perfect screen to body ration wich u can use with one hand G2 is the best on this department .... 5.5 is good but hardly a one hand usage .. im not a tiny hands boy so ... for average G2 fits perfect on hand....... now i think that the visible adventage of G3 over G2 might be software updates .... if u consider this a must have then go for G3 plus a new software doesnt means a better performance ..... G2 is 5.0.2 and G3 is set to receive 6.0 ...... Go to your settings and find the update area I believe its at the top or in the posting that says about this phone. Turn on your automatic updates that way you don't have to worry about it. The phone will then update itself every time. The settings emblem looks like a screw. I had this phone I love this phone I'm sorry I updated to the other phone. I'm going to buy another one.

Well... you usually can't get a device that can still outmatch most current midrange and higher-midrange devices at that price point, can you? Depends on the state the G2 is in. Most of the refurbs are questionable at best, but if the G2 actually happens to be in good condition, then I think that would be a pretty sweet deal.

Back buttons, SD Card and water resistance are about the biggest differences there are. The rest are software functions and unique gimmicks of the UI overlay and that's highly subjective. These phones were direct competitors back in the day, neither of them is clearly superior. Check out the software gimmicks, that's what is going to decide.

That is not wrong. Snapdragon 800 is a marketing name similar to Pentium or Core ix, the technologies behind the marketing name have different names and this one really uses ARMv7 instruction architecture. I downloaded Antutu myself and it said my CPU was ARMv7 Processor (VFPv4,Neon). Then I ran the benchmark, went back to system info, scrolled down to the CPU section and tapped "more" on the core info. This showed the core architecture is Krait 400 and the model name displayed as Snapdragon 800, as it should be.

G3 hase marginally better hardware, laser focus on camera and MUCH higher resolution display. That's the bottom line. The display is just too much of an overkill so it can drain the battery noticeably faster and to use more demanding apps with the resolution tends to tax the SoC too much-> further battery drain and heat. G2 is a well rounded device with no advantages or disadvantages sticking out too much. So decide on whether you need that laser focus (and more likely Android 6 update) and much higher resolution.

I agree with the WiFi file transfer, that one I liked too and they did remove it, but the others... I'm almost certain the lockscreen widgets were culled because of the new security measures in Lollipop, so that's not just the LG hating on G2 but rather a Google decision affecting all Lollipop-running phones. And for the weather animations... Maybe something went wrong with your update as I still have them. The main widget was redesigned to conform to the new Material design but if you open it up, the animations are still there. So are the weather animations on lockscreen, that one still works.

Strange... so I would say... you better return the device to the seller if you still can, that seems to be the easiest solution. As for updating: you certainly can't update it through your local mobile networks but it may still be possible through the WIFI or through the LG PC Suite(although this is often problematic for variants used away from their originally intended region). It will be definitely possible to update it manually by using the files and guides from XDA. If you can't return the device, then I guess that's one of your last hopes- the XDA forum is populated by developers and enthusiasts who can teach their phones to make them a sandwich. You may be able to find some kind of a workaround or a possible fix there, but you need to read properly, read a lot and even if you do everything by the book, the possibility of causing irreversible damage to your device can never be completely dismissed so if you decide to follow one of their guides, be aware that it's solely your choice and your responsibility. The short cut opens a Website called "h5playlist.com" which is a simple HTML 5 based Game Website with a few random games. hi .. sorry for the long time. g2 has many variants wich provides good things to each one ,if u took the g2 as ur phone u did great this device is a beast and even can beat new mid rangers, even it is most powerfull than g3 if we take raw performance based on ,on screen graphics .... longer battery life and keep nice camera features that u will miss atleast on it...... now back on g2 .. the t-mobile version is good because it is close to the d802 variant regarding to modding and unbrick solutions....i can recommend the device as per usage but u have to consider if this 801 variant use the right networks in ur country..... u are free to call ur carrier or service operator and check for the 3g/4g/lte networks ... i use a d800 wich use lte networks in my country ... u can google or simply call them like i said ..keep in mind that the operator of ur choice may not provide lte but other carriers in ur contry may provide the lte service ..... getting edge or 2g means no support for that.... keep in mind too that if everything works but no data make sure u have the correct apn settings configuration for ur device other wise u wont be able to connect,,,,, u can check ur networks if u go to SETTINGS / MORE NETWORKS OR MORESETTINGS ( just below data usage ) / MOBILE NETWOKS in this place u can find if u have the correct apn settings for ur carrier and network mode so u can check if ur device is set for the right frequencies

Then click right here on the "specifications" tab and there you have it under "network" (you may need to click on it to expand the full info). Then compare if the frequencies listed by your provider corespond with the frequencies supported by the "D801" variant (the T-mobile one).

Right here in the comments...even but a few posts below your own... there are just so many warnings that you should always check the frequency compatibility before you buy a device intended for a foreign market. There may be something wrong with the phone but first and foremost, check if your chosen variant (D801 I think) supports the frequencies used in Nigeria. If not, the by far easiest solution is to return the device and buy a suitable variant instead.

The Korean version has smaller but replaceable battery and an SD card slot. Otherwise there are no visible differences. But take care if you want to use the LTE. Check the LTE bands used by your carrier and then compare if the phone supports them- the Korean version of the G2 actually contains of THREE subvariants each supporting a different set of frequencies. Also check the seller. There are many "refurbished" G2s which don't work properly.

u know i got scared first time i updated my g2 from kit kat to lollipop manually,i did with sim card out thinking that it could be an issue,after upgrading the phone ...i wanted to put my sim in it,,, and then i reealized that my phone was not getting service turned it off..then back on.. took sim out put it back in but still didnt work... ate as fast as i could my lunch and decided to flash the system back to kit kaT....made a master reset before with no sim in it and after put it in too got the same .... when i was prepared to flash the phone ... asked my self what about resetting the phone but this time with the sim in it....i did and for my surprise the sim card was recognized... so i think that because the phone is not a factory unlock and comes from another carrier made me that bad joke after updating it..... my phone is lg G2 d800 at&t version ....... u may try this to see if it helps

Very good phone,fast and reliable. The thing is that i feel played by the seller of the phone.I bought it from ebay and it said it was unlocked from AT&T network.But it isn't reallly.I cannot update it unless i use an AT&T sim card under the AT&T network.Also it's locked on LTE and doesn't have a choice for WCDMA or GSM.

Yeah, makes sense. I think both of these apps are always running on the background, scanning your device, that can suck your hardware dry if something goes wrong with the app. Glad to hear your problem is solved. If you care about an Antivirus software, I'm running Avast and so far it seems to treat the system resources reasonably, although if you don't install every shady crapp out there and don't get your apps from third-party sites, you should be pretty much safe.

The easy solution? Buy a device that supports your local LTE bands. Seriously people. If there are numerous regional variants of one device, most of the difference will lie in the supported frequencies. Of course it will not work in Pakistan. It was intended to be used halway around the world away from there. Check this before you buy anything. But okay. It may be possible to enable the Pakistani LTE band but you better head over to the XDA and read. Read a lot. It may require some alterations to your device (I'm almost sure it will require root and possibly also an unlocked bootloader to start with) and if you set it to wrong values, you may lose all connectivity altogether, so it's one of the more risky procedures.

Well, we can never say for sure without owning all of these devices for a couple of months but judging from the specs... R5 and R7 are sporting AMOLED screens be it a pro or a con, that's up to you. They use the newer SD 615 SoC which is somewhat slower than the old SD 800 in G2 and allegedly overheats, which causes frequent performance drops due to thermal throttling. The Find 7 sports a more powerful hardware than the G2, it's basically the LG G3 but that may not be an advantage as the SoC is just marginally better and did not cope well with the high resolution of G3. It can be expected that the Find 7 will behave in a similar way. The GSMArena endurance rating seems to confirm this. G2 is rated at 81 hours while the Oppo devices range from 38hours (R5) to 63 (R7) hours. Find 7 is rated at 44 hours, so about a half of G2's endurance. The camera is impossible to measure from hardware specs only as the postprocessing does an afwul lot of work on the pics, that's why the Sony phones usually fail even though they have excellent camera hardware. The Find 7 and R7 phones have 3gigs of RAM. That's an advantage over the G2 but frankly, I have never had any problems with the amount of RAM on my G2. What you may also consider is the software side. The functions and the UI. Which solution is more in accord to your tastes. But also check out the software updates. LG is not exactly known for rolling a lot of updates and the 5.0.2 might be the end of the line for G2 but I googled around for the updates to Find 7 and I was not thrilled. By the date the G2 started receiving Lollipop, the Oppo devices were still struggling for a Kitkat update and I don't think they ever received more than a few screenshots of the future Lollipop beta that is supposed to come "soon." The forums are fairly full of people bitching about the way Oppo handles its software. Some even say that to own an Oppo means to be "forever in beta." That does not seem very encouraging if you care about such a things.

500 mb of free RAM? That sound a bit low. Please verify what apps are running on the background and especially what apps are running when the phone starts to heat up. Maybe try to look around the play store for some hw monitoring app to help you find out what and when starts to eat up your system resources.

Genuine? Sort of. The phone is old. I guess to check up with stores that used to sell the official variant for your region and ask if they don't have something in a dusty corner of their warehouse would be the surest bet to get a pristine device. Those cheap foreign variants... sadly most of them are refurbs or even horrid amalgamations of numerous broken devices (and not rarely even different variants) slapped together to create one working device, but these are known for a number of serious hardware and software issues. Sadly, there is no way to know for sure until you buy the device. In that case I would recommend you to check the legislature of your country. Where I live we have the right to return any goods bought over the Internet within two weeks, if it doesn't meet our expectations. Here I would suggest you contact the shop beforehand and demand to know if it's a refurb/ previously serviced device or what. Get them to give you a definite answer and if you then receive something else, you have pretty valid reason to demand a refund and a copy of e-mail conversation proving you explicitely asked for a device meeting different standards than what they sold you.

Since you never actually posted any usage data or at least a hint about what apps and processes are running when the phone starts to overheat nor have you provided any info or comparison to the usage patterns and apps running on the Samsung devices... and since you so compare a 1920x1080 screen to a 720x1280 screen (2.25x more pixels) and a 2012 SoC to a 2013 SoC which is much higher clocked, is built on a newer microarchitecture with a higher level of miniaturization and according to a set of benchmarks usually delivers about 2x to 10x as much performance in both the CPU and the GPU departments while retaining comparable power consumption... I conclude your conclusion is not very conclusive. Seriously man, if your phone overheats so much, something is definitely wrong, but it's doubtful the SoC and its manufacturer are completely at fault here just because a completely different device doesn't overheat as well. If you get a flat tire and your neighbour didn't, it doesn't have to mean the manufacturer of your tires is inferior. You just need to make sure there aren't any brats with pockets full of pins hanging around first. Try to notice a pattern, pinpoint the issue. It may be caused by a hundred different things that you can actually fix or prevent easily enough if you find out what they are.

You first need to upgrade to 4.4 before you can update to 5.02 but if you want my opinion. Stay at 4.2.2 its the best rom in terms of battery life. Unless you need a feature in 4.4 or 5.0 there is zero reason to update and your device will only get worse. Id like to go back to 4.2.2 myself but i cant find the correct rom for my 16 gb model.

Well, G2 is very well rounded device. The G3 overboosted its display. That ended up in performance problems as the SoC was not coping well with such a high resolution and the screen also drained the battery too fast and its power consumption has to be compensated for by limiting the screen's contrast ratio and brightness. That's why the G3 feels underwhelming in direct comparison. It was a bit of a one-trick-pony, similar to the new Xperia with its 4K display. Relying too much on the ONE number to rule them all.

Get G2...because as ive read on google and told from friends G2 is kind of more ``stable`` then G3. G3 architecture 64bit is not so stable(drains alot of battery + no programs or apps that run on 64bit) but it has good camera quality(night time) as a friend of my friend says. Buy me u get G2...or get some litte more cash and pick G4 :)) cheers.

So a pakistani brother..yes there will be an update problem but there are two ways to update the android version...1 download lg pc suite on your computer follow instructions and then try to update....or you can root your phone and flash a custom rom...cloudyg2 3.3 is the best...google it

The screens they used to solve the yellow blot issue have a slightly "checkered" pattern on them when viewed under certain lightning conditions. Maybe those are the lines you see.

The "not registered" problem most frequently applies to the US carrier-issued devices used outside of the US. Check which version of the phone you have. If you have the American one, then I guess you have to download the correct files and flash your phone manually.

I am also from Pakistan, there is no update problems. But you cant update the phone via OTA. You have to flash it manually, google for it, its pretty easy.

some good news for G2 D802,there is a new rom cyanogen mod 13 lollipop based. for those who wants to try it., seems only error is with otg,gps and newer facebook app..there is an specific can be used...but other things workes like a charm.... unfortunately mine is D800 so ill have to wait please try it a comment how is it working on ur phone and if battery gets any betetr with it.

yep u are right ....... maybe i got desperated with upadtes ...well maybe if this update is taking that long is because G2 will get 6.0 insted of 5.1.1 and that wold be great because i really want to see my G2 with g4 interface .......... or in other case is because they are bringing to us HOME MADE CLOUDY ROM G4 interface on G2 device labeled with 5.1.1 version wich even is fine for me.......ill be mad i they have a delay only for 5.1.1 and not changes because a patch should not take this long IMO.

Well, on the other hand, should the G2 be from Apple, it would probably already have Android 5.1 and 6 but with most features missing and atrocious optimalisation such as severe overheating, crashes and lagging. Sometimes it seems a bit lesser evil to have an Android device stuck on obsolete software than to get the newest official iOS release which doesn't work well at all as was the case with iPhone lines 4 and 5.

i dont know u guys but ... im sick of keep looking at google daily if there is gonna be an update for my android G2 phone or not....still stuck with 5.0.2 and no information about 5.1.1 or if this device will get 6.0 after all,..... even this 5.1.1 was rolled out several months ago...now 6.0 is out and still not information....im sure that android will upgrade to 6.1 and we might be still stuck with this 5.0.2 due to LG doesnt provide any information about updates....not even in their homeland.......diffrent from apple wich does right things and when they say a date in that date u get ur phone updated ....used to have an iphone i miss the way it was....im happy with my G2 but this wait is too much my next device will be an iphone and thats for sure.

I have upgraded my G2 to L 5.02 few months ago. I am very satisfied. I noticed certain improvements e.g.: zero lag wile scrolling through widgets menu, double tap to wake screen more responsive, improved battery life, etc. I have international version, since 2013.

Please provide some info that is actually relevant to your problem and how it manifests itself. Using wifi has little to do with using your phone as wifi hotspot. Wifi hotspot allows you to broadcast your 3G/LTE connection so it's best to start from there- the kind of data plan you have, signal strength of your connection or what actually happens when you try to set it up... Have you tried other methods such as bluetooth or USB cable and was there any change... that stuff.
