  • this tablet is like a toyota car "RELIABLE"

  • I agree with you 100%!!!! So so many years with this tablet, never lets u down....I have 2 same devices for these reasons!!! And a couple i sold tge past years...what an amazing device!

  • And now we have Android Pie with the crdroid custom rom. Camera isn't working though.

  • Tablet with IR blaster....ilove this tablet for how many years....performance nothing change....

  • i couldnt agree more with you i have this tablet for a long time, traveled the world with him and has zero issues

  • and in oreo camera still doesn't work and it's in beta but nougat is stable- rock solid.

  • Wow there is Oreo. Sad since I am not technical as you guys. I dont know how to install the Oreo. If somebody there can help me and send the step by step procedure to download I will very much appreciate. Thank you so much.

  • I love my Tablet, good solid build it has traveled widely with me overseas and still does whatever I ask of it. I can watch instructional videos for my handcrafts and much more. Wonder why they stopped making them or updating them.

  • And now we have Oreo for V500.

  • ratio is 16:10 Lol

  • This tablet was and is still amazing, even I still using Android kit Kat and works perfectly. Almost 4 years reading ebooks, watching series and I don't think change it.

  • I agree with you. Best tablet I ever had. Now with crDroid 3.8.3 it's awesome. Soon xda developer will get Oreo for v500. I think there is no tablet like this one with this much upgrades. Just amazing.

  • what is that and were to find it ??????

  • Great device, worked perfectly for some 4 years of almost everyday use. Great display, great touchscreen, perfect 16:9 ratio and size. Have Samsung and Apple Ipad mini, but this one is better for everyday use.

  • After 2.5 years owning, using and charging every single day....this tablet beats many 2017 tablets.... Still long lasting battery. Fantastic screen. Ok, not as fast as new octacores, but not slow at all. Great 16:9 size, as you can easily hold it in your hand Great double tap wake up screen, as all LGs devices. Just got a second one, used of course, but now is a bargain. Still amazed by this device.

  • Mine is working perfectly, os is Lineage android 7.1.2 . If you have to update your G Pad 8.3, look at Lineage OS. Good support and maintenance support.

  • It doesn't show up it only says software download in process check the status bar to see the advance, something like that.

  • I has this tablet for 2 years And several months and i raged so hard that i threw my tablet into The steel chimney And got fully broken.

  • Same prob here when playing facebook videos, some play properly but mostly dont. Youtube 's fine though. Any fix re this issue?

  • can U please be son kind on posting us, step by step. mine has kit kat when try to update says downloading but nothing comes out

  • i recommend aosp android 7.0.1 (or newest) install via twrp. and gapps (mini). simply for install and works fine.

  • I've had issues with Cyanogenmod but I used a custom marshallow Google based build from xda developers and this tablet works like I bought it recently

  • Easy peasy!you just need to install cyanogenmod 13 via TWRP.

  • can you please tell us how to Switch to cyanogen mode????

  • Excellent tablet. Switch to cyanogenmod to get latest Android. Even nightly builds work fine.

  • What exactly update is it? Mine until now is only v50020f software.

  • hello I have this tablet, I used wifi to update the tablet but every time that I tap update it tellsme that is downloading but nothing appears on the screen or any sign that the download is going trough, what can be?

  • I have the same issue. Any fix welcome.

  • Root your tablet with towelroot(less than 15 sec). Download Rashr from play store and download the latest stable twrp recovery zip. Flash it with rashr and you have a custom recovery(less than 5 mins). Download supersu.zip v2.46. Use rashr to boot to recovery, flash the 30B.zip ROM, flash supersu.zip and reboot. You'll get twrp links from the 30A thread and Marshmallow thread below or above the following thread in xda:

  • everything works properly except IR-Blaster

  • How exactly u did it?

  • Yes - Mine is on 5.1 (but it's the v510 Google Play Edition)

  • Updating to the v50030b lollipop version via recovery is very easy and everything works fine since it's an official ROM!

  • but can u please tell me if after the update everything is working properly, I mean tha IR sensor, the camera, the wifi, etc, I have been told that this tablet its going to be working not good if you updated to lollipop

  • have anyone recive OTA update to android 5 ?

  • Use another browser other than Chrome like default stock internet, Firefox, Dolphin,..

  • I read in one XDA forum they are also having same issue, but also no solution response. Anybody has possible cause and solution to this facebook cluttered video playback? Pls reply.

  • Exactly the same

  • Started to have problem with my V500, when I play video on Facebook, its like a jigsaw, black and white cluttered video. Sound OK but cannot watch the video. Is anybody having same issue?

  • are you idiot or what??? how do you compare a tablet from 2013 with a newest smartphone, I mean LG g2 is not that new but are mean to be far way diferent

  • Already did hard reset, but still same problem, could not pop up letters on keypress.

  • Try factory reset, but attention, this operation erase all your data (picture, video, music, etc).

  • i flashed the ROM manually i downloaded the ROM from xda.here's the link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/development/rom-android-6-0-marshmallow-20151028-t3235794

  • Did you upload from OTG, or manual flash?

  • my g pad have android 6.0.1 now...:D

  • Pls help other G Pad 8.3 users, how to activate the pop-up on keypress on LG keyboard.

  • Same problem does anyone know how to fix it cant pop up key pad on my 8.3

  • My stock LG Keyboard won't pop-up on keypress. Is this normal behaviour of the keyboard? My current system is 4.4.2 and 20f firmware.

  • Got my LG 8 tablet in November, 2015. Wtf??? WORST CAMERA EVER, unless you just want snap an image that has no interest. It has NO REAL usable options, like.. A FLASH!!! There's no tricking option to whether the FLASH will be on or off! Is all what the camera thinks you should have. And what: auto or panorama? Oh so generous of LG-- please!! On my LG2 phone, it had all kinds of features that aren't offered on my tablet! That posses me off!!

  • Help pls how to decrypt the sd card

  • After your 5.02 upgrade, can you now transfer apps to sdcard?

  • We have the LG g pad 8.3" for more than 2 years. This pad is great. It's very durable & very fast for its age. The only disappointed is LG's poor support. They stop releasing new Android updates at ver4.4 😬 After 2 afternoons looking on web how to update it, I found & flash it with v5.0.2 After update there was a huge improvement to the overall behavior of the device. I feel that it was a good choice 2 + years ago. My now pad will have at least snapdragon 810...

  • Can this tablet run NBA 2K16?

  • It has "Gyro" screen auto adjust but you need to go into "Settings" to "Display" then move down the choices till you see "Auto Rotate Screen" and then tick the box to the right and a check will appear in the box, you will then have an Auto Rotating Screen or Gyroscopic screen adjustment. With ANY new Technology you receive an Instruction Manual, it is always a good idea to read that manual while you have the item in hand so you can learn the workings of that item, there are many adjustments and personalization's that you can make which will improve your experience with the G Pad, which is a great Tablet,

  • You should get the latest MM from Adrian, runs like hell

  • i tried but not working,it keep telling me phone disconnected at 15%

  • this tablet its supposed to have gyroscope, but in the 360 videos from youtube is not working, what shall I do to make it work??? please I need help!!!

  • U using the modified tool called LG Flash Tool 2014? It should work! If not try flashing an android 4.2 v50010A kdz, then go to KitKat or lollipop!

  • why i can't use lg mobile support tool to roll back to 4.4.2 from marshmallow rom?

  • i hate marshmallow on this tab because it lags too much even in asphalt 8,so soon i will use upgrade recovery to get back to 4.4.2 because i will have back quick remote and more functions

  • I love may gpad. Still using it for 2 years & Still have no issue & what so ever.

  • It's an awesome rom, but not by lg! LG cares only for its home country for official updates!

  • already marshmallow ROM

  • i bricked my lg g pad 8.3 by mistake installing marshmallow, but thanks to lg upgrade recovery, goes again to 4.4.2 and can be rooted to install aosp 6.0 marshmallow

  • lol man these are noobs i have installed today marshmallow but no knock on or quick remote functions:(( overall is great

  • Awesom!!!

  • Thanks to a good developer on XDA, our V500 now has marshmallow support. Using it since yesterday now and so far so great.

  • Download Mx Player, it should work.

  • Whats the heck is wrong with u LG? Is that such a big deal to relaease Android 5 for this tablet? I just wanna watch HEVC h.265 codcs on my tablet. That s why i purchased Gpad 8.3 but now tnx to ur assholism, it seems that it s just an out of rich dream. That was it! Last straw! I ve had it!I ll never-ever purchase any devices with LG brand tnx to its feeble support! Statue of liberty at u LG!

  • V50020f available. Bug fixes and enhancements. Still on KitKat and no lollipop yet!

  • You could try flashing using TOT. Btw you should ask questions on xda-developers.com, not here.

  • Please help..i tried to upgrade my gpad to lollipop using the KDZ...and im in the proccess of upgrading my gpad..it always stock up at 13℅ and wont go through :(

  • Any information about update on lollipop. When we can expect update for europe?

  • i'm going to check out if i car remove that app result:you can't unintall that app

  • from where you are?i flashed ROM

  • mine is already on 5.0.2 lollipop, updated via ota..

  • I want to ask you what is the application called (V3 2.0 mobile standard) and how i can remove it thanks.

  • And dont scare you can change language

  • Just follow the instruction in xda, then put the usb cable in the tablet and will appear download mode without doing anything that's it,but you can do a hard reset before and after flash

  • I wanted to flash the Korean versiyon. As I am not experienced used, althought I entered volume up and down button together, I was not able to enter the download menu. Can you help me with this? Thanks in advance.

  • f##k u lg for not updating g pad 8.3 worldwide,so i just downloaded kdz file and flash tool and works for me now i have android 5.0.2 thanks to xda

  • nope

  • any information about update on lollipop?

  • Hi guys, I have been using this tablet since past 1 year.Of late display of the tablet is flickering with vertical lines persistently.I have gone through all the forums for a solution, but to no avail. Many forums suggested me disable H/W overlays in developer options. Even that didnt help. Please can anyone of you guys help me out. Your help will be much appreciated

  • U sure it's a g pad 8.3 and not the new g pad 8.0/10.0? U don't even need to touch the screen as the screen is very responsive in the 8.3! And even the newer g pads have great screen response. Maybe u have defective unit!! Try Google keyboard if u don't like the stock keyboard! It's the best keyboard for me!

  • Same problem as the last G Pad. Holding the pad from the sides activates touch near the hand. Putting on a rubber back cover helps. The screen is unresponsive despite the faster processor. The over all feeling is baggy. The multitasking feature needs to be customizable. Let the. User determine how much battery life he wants to sacrifice. Let the user determine how the sceen is to be sized and partitioned. Let the User determine if he wants what apps he wants to multitask. Android can be better than ios in this respect. Better +microsd support. And pleeeeease, the keyboard is tooooooo laggy and uncustomizabke.

  • Follow the steps!

  • Where can I get those files and the Lollipop korean version?

  • i have the same question,no videos on youtube

  • I need some help .. can I ask what if it is droped ? it will be broken ? or it has good materials like Assus ? thanks for any reply.

  • OK so i manually updated my LG V500 to lollipop 5.0.2 using the official firmware albeit in Korean(well since the update is taking too long). Working effortlessly so far, battery life has improved by 50%. Lollipop is so sweet and the dual pane mode is a very interesting feature too. If you are tired of waiting you can also hop along as NO ROOTING is required just the LG flash tool and the KDZ file. N.B: (It doesnt matter that it is a korean version because you can chose the language you want before even flashing), all my notifs and all are in ENGLISH.

  • lg g pad 8.3 v500 or gpe?

  • what's your country?and when you get the update?

  • Lollipop is out for my G Pad 8.3, check your OTA update.

  • best choice ever!but dissapointed for no lollipop so far instead of g pad 7.0,8.0,and 10.1 wich get all lollipop

  • Very good and nice

  • my tablet doesn't have that type of troubles, but i can't find truecaller because is just for phones, because this is just wifi tablet, but my friend have allview a5 quad and can't find asphalt 8,and have an. 4.2.2,so i check to try this for their phone

  • how the g2 got lolipop and this not?

  • go to settings, find google play from app settings, force stop then clear cach, use a vpn or ip changing app like tigle or hotspotshield, run google play, then you should find everything . .. ...

  • i wait til may

  • Refer here: It's the official update for Korean region as Koreans always get new things first with all languages supported! Works very well with improved battery life and no issues! OTA for other regions probably in May!

  • no way to get lolipop

  • If so.. I wish they will change the menu button to recent button...

  • We'll get Lollipop in the coming weeks or days, guys!

  • maybe

  • Will we get android lollipop and the g3 UI soon???

  • i have this tab and it's just wifi

  • Are there contracts selling this 1.7 GHz version with 3G connectivity

  • no sir i have data and photos on my microSd

  • It happens when you remove your sd card without unmounting it first under settings and storage option. Try reformatting your sd card on your computer but of course make a back up of your files first.

  • someone have this problem?when you put charging you pad,and sometime you will get a notification with removed microsd without removing sd card?

  • It has on screen buttons which is way better than having a fixed home button which is inconvenient to use as they rotate for portrait and landscape views! It has 1080p screen, in fact slightly more with 1900x1200 resolution! But the screen is not very bright though! Text are super crisp with no zooming required on websites! U may have had a defective g pad!

  • I think you should return as faulty if its that bad. I watch 1080p and as crisp as any other HD tablet out there, maybe say samsung 8.4 has more vibrant colours but at the screen size videos are almost the same.

  • You might be thinking of the google play edition. None of LG tablets are running 5.0 unless they are on CM12, which is stable by the way if you dont want to wait for updates.

  • Not impressed with this tablet, but some users might like it. Because the three main buttons and the status bar use at all time a part of the screen, the screen feels very tight and long. It also lacks clarity making it not easy to read web pages. Watching movies is not really enjoyable either because of the screen quality. Finally, the speakers sound really cheap. On the good side, the screen is very responsive and the tablet is lightweight and fast on internet.

  • 3 months past planned upgrade to lollipop and now nothig probably later,i received 4.4.2 in june

  • have this model a compass sensor?(Thanks)

  • use ADM free at google play store

  • no sim slot!

  • februar is here, where or when will be update (lollipop) for my LG g pad 8.3? kit kat 4.4.2 its no good, front camera dosn`t work on kit kat, battery is quikly "empty".... Come on LG we need fix for this problems... BY

  • this guy tells about verizon lg g pad 8.3

  • It has a non-removable battery and no rear cover. Where is the sim slot?

  • Screen random select, I am upset

  • it does take the sim but you can only use the sim for data not for phone calls.

  • i hate my android 4.4.2

  • when is lollipop rollout

  • Hi, Since it has not Sim, It hasn't Hotspot.

  • Amazing

  • I cant download songs.photos.videos

  • Thanks for the info on reviving the G pad when it won't turn on. Worked like a charm!

  • yes man it's awesome and superior no conventional tablet

  • I received it as a gift and let me tell you, this tablet is the best there is in contrast to its cheap price. I immediately upgraded it to Kitkat after opening the box. The screen is good (size and clarity), it's fast and comfortably fits in the hand. The camera is not great but not bad either. Comparing it to the iPad mini retina, I would surely pick the G Pad because it's Android and the G Pad delivers one of the best android experience in a tablet. I recommend this tablet if you want a cheap yet has flagship specs.

  • This helped me thank you

  • thank you

  • Really? Around 27000? I made as score of 28321 thankyou! My rM floating at 1,15, before between 800-900 mb thanks bro

  • Really? Around 27000? I made as score of 28321 thankyou! My ram is around 1,08 and before has been around 800-900 mb

  • Go to "contacts", under "Search Contacts" type in 3845#*500# then hit the + button on the upper right. You will then be promted to hidden menu. Look for "Thermal Daemon Mitigation OFF" and enable "Thermal DAE Miti off". Restart and your V500 will be more powerful than ever. Expect around 27k in antutu.

  • I recently purchased two of these, one for myself and one for my son. I immediately updated the OS to 4.4.2 using the in Settings Update Center that accessed the OTA update. I ran the updates and thought everything went smoothly. Then I noticed that the 64GB MicroSDXC cards I had installed were showing as needing to be Formatted after I had installed a number of movies and hundreds of songs. So I had no choice because even after removing the cards I couldn't access the data using a card reader on my PC. So I did a format and it appeared to work for both Tablets, (the problem is now the same for both Tablets). Within less than 24hrs the problem resurfaced, apparently related to the Tablet going into a Sleep or Suspension Mode which then caused the Card to Unmount and become corrupted requiring the erase and remount to access the card thereafter. One of the cards actually was ruined as a result and these were Brand New Samsung 64GB Pro Micro SDXC Class 10 cards. I was searching every forum I could find looking for a solution to the problem and could find one although I did find that people doing an update of another LG device to Lolipop OTA were running into basically the same condition. So I decided to look at the LG PC Suite application that can be downloaded and installed on a Windows PC to communicate with the Tablets and Phones, which has an Update dialog in it and also has a dialog just under that to "Restore Update Errors" (that is the name of the dialog process) so I was sure this would help. I connected the Tablet to the PC via USB and started the process which took about 20 minutes to complete and then rebooted the Tablet twice and with the SD Card in the device I let it sit and waited to see what happened. While that was cookin I connected the second Tablet and attempted to run the Restore/Repair program but it just didn't want to complete so after at least 10 attempts I realized I failed to install the SD Card as it was when I originally ran the Update, so I thought that to "restore" I should set up the way it was at the time. I did that and ran the Restore again and it still took 9 or 10 attempts but it finally did work completing the Restore Process. That was 12 Days ago and BOTH TABLETS ARE RUNNING PERFECTLY! The Flaw is in the OTA UPDATE TO THE OS So be AWARE that if you try to update the OS using the WiFi connection you will be accessing the same files that have been corrupting devices for whatever reason and the only fix that is NOT being announced is by a Restore Process in the LG PC Suite. sorry for length but details are important.

  • got the g pad 8.3 since april 2014 and don't regret having bought it. The one thing I want to confirm though is whether the tablet supports apps like reaver and bc mon, I tried but it says it doesn't support monitor mode...

  • Good pad but it must have a upgrade to lolipup

  • when will get lollipop update for lg-V500 from europe?

  • My V510 (GPe) got Android 5.0 last night. Very nice.

  • awesome good quality

  • Simply brilliant. ipad mini is a rival but lg much more better. Double the quality, halve the price.

  • youre crazy man you can play all apps from google play at the same time

  • Please LG! We want good upgrade for LG pad 8.3 we need 9 Inches ips 4k screen +front stereo speakers +very strong processor like snapdragon 810 64 bit with 4GB of Ram + full body from aluminum

  • Won't hold a charge at ALL. I am on my 3rd G Pad in 3 months. They keep replacing it and I keep having the same issue. So frustrating because I really like the G Pad when it is working.

  • Will we get lollipop 5.0 update on our LG G PAD 8.3??m??

  • Thank you LG your are doing a great work, Knock On is the best feature implemented on a smartphone since the touchscreens. And the new place for the Volume and Power Buttons is the perfection!!! Please LG!!! Put FM Radio in the next G Pad model is very usefull, streaming Radio throw internet consumes data and a lot of battery! Thanks.

  • THIS IS IN REGARDS TO THE LG GPAD NOT TURNING ON OR CHARGING. 1. Breathe 2. Hold down power key for about 15 secs 3. Without letting go of power key, plug into original charer. 4. You should now see the battery Icon On front of tablet. 5. Now, let charge. ☆☆For some reason, this has been happening over & over since I've gotten mine. It happens when the battery dies. The battery will die even in its case not being used. This works tho! Good Luck♤

  • I have purchased LG G PAd 8.3 wi fi only device last week in USA. Now I am using this device in India. I have Play Store installed on my G pad but I am not able to find many popular apps and games in the play store like Whats App, True caller, Asphalt 8, Temple run etc. Please can someone help me to resolve the problem

  • Awesome and cheap Tablet, great screen size, excellent resolution, but I found one problem, the wifi. At my house my internet speed is 50Mb and....the LG G Pad 8.3" do not pass to 20Mb/s speed.

  • awesome tablet and are are upgradable to 5.0 lollipop in the near future

  • finally will be android 5.0 lollipop

  • Maybe in December or the beginning of the new year 2015 we will get the lollipop 🍭😋

  • I liked the tablet overall but for no apparent reason it stopped working. Was working the night before but wouldn't respond to tapping the screen or manually starting using the power button the next morning. Plugged it in to charge and it doesn't seem to respond to that either. It hasn't been dropped or abused. I'm bummed because I've used it everyday since I got it about 6 months ago. Anyone else have this problem?

  • The exact thing happened to mine. Shipped it off and came back with a message that there was nothing wrong. Now it's happening again where it won't take a charge. I really like the tablet....when it works! Think I've got a LEMON!

  • Owners, how long is your battery lasting? I am using it for browsing, gaming and movies, tough to go thru a day.

  • I have this tablet for about 3 weeks and the microphone si not working !! It nees activation ?

  • Absolutely awesome, better than n7 trust me, lg made some great great software for this, really fast, cant tell the difference between this and a s800 or 801

  • I feel the need to get this out on the internet so if it is a "bad batch" more people are aware of it. I have had 2 Gpads replaced within 2-3 days of owning them and "no-one has ever seen it happen." After charging the pad initially and using it the gpad will not acknowledge or accept a second charge. No damage has been done to either they just will not accept a second charge so are completely useless after they run out of juice. It should be noted I let both tablets completely die before attempting to recharge... no other common denominators exist. Both tablets were charged on different LG chargers, charged at different outlets in different rooms of the house. The replacement tablet was only on the charger long enough for it to let me know it was at 100%. I'm not saying that I didn't like the tablet, I just want everyone to be aware that this issue does exist in case you experience something similar and are the "only one."

  • Will we get android L update in the future????

  • I've owned this tablet for over 3 months now. This tablet's specifications are still better than most tablets around. You won't regret buying it :)

  • Adobe itself gave up Flash on mobile devices because of excessive battery consumption and low performance.

  • on the specification it doesnt mention the internet speed of the product as a benchmark is it better than the sony xperia z ?? thnks

  • You mean all Android 4.1+ devices! Flash player was too buggy, that's why Google ditched it and btw most sites support HTML 5, so you'll still be able to watch vids!

  • Just a quick comment. Great tablet except it does not support Flash Player which was a disappointment after not being told before purchase.

  • Atlast after i read so many reviews n opinions for g pad n other top brand finally get this thing. Just like my optimus g this tab is very consistent when it comes to performance and etc.lighting speed

  • Superb Tablet! Buy it ... you'll never regret. Best Tablet in it's priced range! No Lag whatsoever. I'm very happy buying this tablet.

  • This is by far the best tablet now at its price range. I am very satisfied. Get yours now, you will not regret it.

  • Battery drain might be caused by apps running hidden background processes. For example, if you sync messaging services from your G Pad to your phone, you might try checking the advanced settings and turn off any feature that says something like 'maintain location synchronization' or you may want to disconnect from the service altogether. Good luck!

  • no

  • Of course! It's the best tablet with the best design and performance for that price!

  • Does it have gorilla glass??

  • true..

  • I'm satisfied good performance the spics is good, and enjoy waching video, games, high resolution,i luv it....

  • Is it possible to downgrade LG G Pad 8.3 from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 without using root?

  • Backup and do a factory reset.

  • A very good choice not just for the price but for its great features

  • The LG G Pad 8.3 is a superb tablet if your on a budget, in comparison to the original Ipad Mini the LG G Pad is a faster tablet and gives you more for your money. If your not on a budget the Ipad Mini Retina is a great tablet and out performs the LG G Pad 8.3 in benchmarks. keep in mind the LG G Pad 8.3 also has a Micro SD slot for expandable storage (music, films etc) and runs android instead of IOS which makes transfering files much easier. Android can also multitask unlike IPads.

  • Which is better Lg G Pad or Ipad Mini ? Thank You

  • Hi all... Im using LG G Pad 8.3 v500 i tried to send files through wifi direct but its not working so i tried to send using Shareit app but then its sending the files but not receiving any files. Can someone guide how to use wifi direct?.

  • Why does my g pad battery drains too fast

  • For some reason, antutu benchmark says my g pad has a qualcomm snapdragon APQ8064T, not an APQ8064 Pro, like in the specifications on this site. But it is a great tablet for the price, £180

  • I am not experiencing any significant problem like that with 4.4.2 at all

  • Nope, you made a mistake! Sammy can't put aluminum on a tablet and can't fit a screen perfectly on the case and KitKat support! If so, then $700+ But sammy makes ugly plastic, poorly assembled and big bezels, so if u put the specs of the gpad with snapdragon 600, basically $400+ LG made an awesome value for money tablet for people who know the true colours of sammy!

  • Yes, works perfectly!

  • if g pad made by samsung gpad price will be 300-400$

  • Does this tab supports usb otg or usb host? Thanks.

  • Anyone experiencing battery drain issue? Coz' my battery is draining too fast after KK update

  • It weights 338, 3 and 8 my model number of the Pad is 338xxx, lol!

  • I have no problem with the YouTube app running on this tablet.

  • Hii....im planning to buy this lg tab after going through the specs...but ive heard that it runs smoothly without lags..etc but ive recently heard from someone that we cant get youtube on it....is that true....pls let me know for those out there who have experience using this tab...tks a lot in advance....

  • Only device that LG ever manufactured, however screen responsivity still below average, some times you need to punch! not best for puzzle gaming...

  • Screen size 8.3 inch Performance rank 8,3 Thin 8.3 mm 8.3 is everywhere!

  • Just now updated KNOCK CODE OTA... working amazing! Love LG 😁

  • Yup gpad knock is available now... M downloading right now! 😁

  • Is knock code added on kitkat update? Just asking b'coz i haven't update my gpad yet! TIA

  • We have had the LG G Pad 8.3 for 3 months our first venture into a tablet! Initially we were impressed with the look and feel of the slate and prior to buying had done quite a lot of reviewing of what was available and the LG was fit for purpose and at a good price spot. We only really wanted a tablet for travel, web browsing and Email, rather than taking a bulky laptop with us. Other reviewers have indicated issues with the battery life at first this was not apparent however of late we have been noticing issues i.e. fully charged at night and by morning from standby mode the low battery warning is sounding. Put it on the charger and 6 hours later still only 36% charged it does not seem right! Maybe it is a lemon! We are considering sending it back. We also have issues with the On/Off power switch it is not always responsive to the touch it does seem abnormal to have the press the button for the length of time we are to get the tablet to power off and then to power on again.

  • hi i want this but thats nmore comfortebal then lava esoor or if yioyu want asses this prosses more be roke yes or no

  • I have been using this tablet for about 6 to 7 weeks and so far everything is great, my previous tablet was a nexus 2012 and this does everything the nexus can but is faster and I managed to get this for cheaper than a nexus 2013. I also prefer LG's software suite on a tablet compared to stock Android on a tablet, a larger screen,sd card (rooted), loud speakers etc... It's a good performer and I make sure I use a memory booster just in case, I like it.

  • Good design and outlook, but it should have come with SIM so that it can be used in any remote location where WIFI is not available.

  • Value for money always wins! Of course LG G Pad 8.3 supports wifi hotspot since it has that beast Snapdragon 600 with Adreno 320 and it's much better than the Arc S as well!! A great deal if you get a phone and a tablet for the same price of a slightly faster phone! My logic: Never buy a phone or tablet which is the same price as a full fledged laptop as the laptop always wins :)

  • I gave up on the LG G3 already. I don't like that nonsensical QHD display. Battery waster? I'd buy G2, I think it's still the best smartphone! But, can't find a brand new D805, for my region, only used ones. So I think I realized of another way to gear up to the best: I'll buy the beautiful and still capable Xperia Arc S!! But not only that, as it's quite cheap then I'll buy this LG G Pad 8.3!!!!!!!!! I'll have 2 great devices :D for less of the price of a G2, and better than a G3!!!!!! WHAT DO YOU THINK GUYS!!!!?? Thanks LG for making great devices, anyway!! - L Pd: I think I'll be able to use/have the G Pad online through the WIFI HotSpot functionality of the Arc S! I have a good 2GB data plan, I can share it with the G Pad that way, right?? Please tell me what do you think n.n Thanks!!

  • Got this tablet from work about 2 month ago and it's been great. I would highly recommend it!

  • It could have been a great gadget if theres no issue on its microphone. Im thinking of reselling it

  • i just bought LG G PAD 8.3 yesterday, and in very satisfied with the with its performnace. specially the UI of LG

  • Have a look :

  • It's excellent.

  • yes and micro sd card suport

  • I think this is good and cheap

  • Hi guys does it support otg

  • Hey Guys , I'm thinking of buying a tablet ...which is better in terms of specs and battery life? this or the galaxy tab pro 8.4?

  • Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all know what i feel about this pad and also KitKat update. Firstly the price in incredibly cheap looking onto its specs. Qualcomm 600 + 2gb ram is stunning. No lags what so ever. After kitkat update still about the same as 4.2.2 but the Battery backup has improved massively! standby time is just awesome. I used to charge everyday on 4.2.2 now i charge once in 3-4 days . The screen is no doubt v good its FHD.But its very dim compared to many devices and many phones. Outdoors its nearly nor visible on full brightness. (LG Should do smthing about this its an IPS common LG). The Camera is average. nothing special as per i feel. sometimes below average. I have compared with IPAD Mini and other device having 5mpx auto focus cameras but they are much better. Overall its a awesome tab , handy, you can hold in one hand very nicely!, No lags what so ever. High end games are superb. Its my daily driver now! Samsung has many tabs but this tab from LG is best for the price range!

  • Thanks guys for your review! Bought it last week! I can say it's awesome. IPS LCD display is great for reading and not too bluish for the eye like Amoled(Compared to my Galaxy S2). I can even say it loads some pages in Chrome faster than my laptop! Well updating to KiKat via LG Support tool is time consuming as it has to download 1.2GB of data. But I made it and it's awesome. It's super fast with the snapdragon 600 and Adreno 320. No lags at all! You have Notification drawer cover all the screen and not partially like Pure Android. QSlide(multi window) is a nice plus. It still doesn't support YouTube though! And back is aluminum which is super cool to hold when cold. And it doesn't overheat because of it. It is the best thing money can buy. A smartphone with these specs would cost $400+. This shows how Samsung makes shit products for premium prices. Good job LG!

  • better lg g pad , has larger display, micro SD slot. higher processor, the Nexus 7 does not have a micro sd slot

  • Nexus 7 (2013) has a little brighter screen. G Pad has also great screen, and I don't see the issue with the brightness like many are talking. Both devices are really fast enough, but the G Pad has bunch of cool apps that make this tablet glorious. Also, most of the options you'd have to root your Nexus device for are available on the G Pad without the root. But, with the latest KitKat update, you have to root the device in order to write to external SD card. And, the most important thing: screen size. Additional 1.3" does matter! :) Screen is noticeable bigger, but the device is compact enough to fit in a hand without a problem.

  • Which one is better Asus Google Nexus 7 (2013) Or LG G Pad 8.3 ??? Please reply...........

  • hope lg release another tablet this year.

  • Oh, got it from a well time, kit kat update is the one you've been waiting for, you are going to buy this new tablet (for you) because of the hell improvements that's having it!! lol, yes LOL!!

  • Really kitkat is already available in the phl for gpad 8.3! That would be incredible I'll be telling this to my wife so she can have the update tnx

  • Really.. an update here at ksa is already available? Damn late.. I already sent it home to phl just a couple of days ago

  • any battery improvement on kit kat ? overal how different i kitkat ? faster device ?

  • How to move ur pic file and downloaded file to sd card v pls help.

  • looks good !!!

  • after updating my pad to kitkat my benchmark is 25055 witch is pretty good i think !

  • Opinion on KitKat for G Pad 8.3: Knock On: way better, but no knock code. Light sensor also way better. A bit faster overall, keyboard is better (predictive text), immersive mode available. But, no writing to external sd card without root. Bottom line, I'm satisfied.

  • Yahoo!!! Downlading new OS version for GPAd. Oh yeah!!!

  • Yes! Kitkat update for my G Pad here in KSA!

  • yeah awesome!!!i want to buy that SOON!!!

  • I have always been a Japanese hardware (SONY XPERIA)enthusiast, and had always said no to Korean and Chinese products but LG changed that concept. This tablet is sick!!! All that specs for that affordable price. And LG's designs are sexy. They minimize margins to give you full view of the screen. I mean the excess space on the face of the device are just the bezels and the logo. Everything else is the screen. I love LG.

  • Yes,much better than Samsung Tab 3/8

  • kitkat in philippines yehey!

  • This is a good tablet with affordable price as compared with others brand with similar spec. My 1st electronic/IT product with LG. Surprisingly LG has some of the functions which other brand don't have. And able to upgrade to kit kat too...

  • mine already got kitkat in malaysia...thanks

  • I updated with LG pc suite. I don't see knock code or hide front buttons. In US

  • Hi, Does the new update bring knock code and "hide front touch buttons" feature? Can anyone check? like this:

  • Have a break...Have a KItkat Update here in the Philippines!

  • YES! Finally i can have the update to 4.4. It has been released in the uk!

  • I just receive update for 4.4.2. I´m from Brazil!!!

  • I have received the kitkat update, and I am in Europe...

  • i just receive update for 4.4.2..im from Romania

  • HDMI for G-PAD

  • GPad will have KitKat. In some countries people already updated to KitKat. Just be patiente.

  • Will there be an upgrade for kitkat?

  • When will the be upraded to kitkat?

  • Beyond a shadow of a doubt, THIS is one of the very best Tablets for its price (around 240 Euros here in EU). Excellent build quality, only negative I could find is the lack of an HDMI Port and MAYBE the NOT-SO-POWERFUL battery, though the latter point is NOT anywhere near disappointing!

  • anyone who knows when this tablet will have a successor and when will it be launched? thanks

  • Very good device. My only problem is the on screen buttons. Most of the time it will not go away, so the screen is just around 7.6 in actual use. LG could have done better by placing the buttons outside the screen.

  • Perfection from LG, i will have this one day.

  • any plan for kitkat update...when???

  • any plan for kitkat update???

  • any plan for kitkat update???

  • This tab better than nexus 7(2013)

  • nice

  • This Tab Is Simply Amazing! Much Faster Than Samsung's Tablets!

  • Does this support ethernet connection using usb ethernet adapter ?

  • g pad is not a lte device

  • If you listen music which is stored on SD card and it reboots by it self that means you SD card is corrupted throw it in a garbage but if you listen from device internal memory you might do the factory restore, it happen with my Asus TF 101 in past I drop it to service center and all it was is bad SD card and I have bought ultra SD card from store and worked fine with no problems

  • why does it always reboot whenever i listen to music...?

  • Is this a lte capable?

  • Probably never! WTF..

  • I the LG company woulf here this! the LG Pad 8.3 is a great pad.It had a good n powerful specification on its hardware. The drawback is its body design n texture. The aluminum back panel its good buts its finish its not. Like samsung tab3 n note3 had good design n finish. LG design n finish on smartphones are great like G2 & the new LG G Pro 2. But the design on the Pad, likea LG G2 n GPro2 smartphone is akward. It would be great if the Pad looks like L9II and the finish like G2 & G Pro2. I hope LG will do this with it. So I could buy the LG Pad soon. Thanks!

  • Go to lg gpad a higher quality IPS displaj, metal housing

  • Hello, what do you think its better? Galaxy note pro 8.4 or lg g pad 8.3? Thanks.

  • Good day,I have a general question for everyone: When will LG release a successor of the G Pad that is white,CPU is octacore, has 3 or 4 GB of ram, that looks like the tablet version of the G Pro 2 around 8.4 to 10.1 inches?thanks :)

  • It is good. But if there is sim calling function it will be added more value.

  • thank u soo much alex :)

  • Please suggest a good tablet with sim calling and economical

  • Go for lg g Pad it has expandable memory, better, bigger screen, has an ir remote.blaster and also have an option of google edition version.

  • Yes. You put your phone's number. The verification sms will go to your phone and you will put the code to the tablet. :)

  • very very good Tab, works more than perfect. I have no complaints. greetings

  • AnTuTu test marks on my tablet shows only 21687 (comparing with 24440 on this site) it is almost 2800 points less. How it is on your tablets? I am loooking forword your answers. Thanks.

  • frndx can install n use whatsapp viber tango line etc in lg g pad 8.3 widout sim??? thanx n sorry for bad english.

  • Hi! Just want to ask which one is better? I am a heavy user of tablet. Usually for internet browsing, watching movies and games. I am torn between LG G Pad and iPad Mini 2. Kindly share your EDUCATED opinions please. Thanks a lot! :)

  • Batter life is about the same. In few days I gonna buy the LG G Pad 8.3, it has better specs, it has slightly bigger display. It is great!

  • very good job in this review . if you continue with this level of reviews , you can be the dpreview of the electronics .

  • better take optimus pad

  • Help me techies! I'm torn between LG G PAD and Nexus 7 2nd gen, which of the two is the best? how about BATTERY LIFE SPAN in a day with moderate usage? I always surf the net.

  • I have this tab for about a week and all I can say that this is a GREAT tablet! if your confused between this tablet and samsung tab 8.0, I'd recommend this one! screen looks great and good sound too!

  • A great tablet!

  • This Tab is awesome!

  • i have it the best. higher specs than most tablet out there

  • Does it get you through a full day ?

  • it handset is tha very eeysi to use and app is using to very fast

  • I have this for almost 2 weeks....battery dry very quick...linkspeed on wifi is very low even i have 300mbs wifi dual band...it olny has 54mbps and mostly 24mbps linkspeed not like on my note 2 has 72 mbps and my huawei g700 with 135 mbps..when watching movies online sometimes it stop and do not continue..when watching youtube it buffer even actual download speed on connection is 16mbps but the samsung note 2 and huawei g700 runs smoothly...i am very disappointed with this...hope lg has a solution on this if they release a software update...

  • yes it has AD2P

  • Yes it can

  • Can anyone tell me if this device is Bluetooth A2DP compatible ?(Bluetooth Audio Streaming)

  • Can anyone tell me if this device supports A2DP ? (Bluetooth Audio Streaming)

  • Do you know if it is MHL ready?

  • LG make it sim capable with elimination of bad childish deseases like bad camera, low lcd illuminance, bad audio speaker and headphone output...then phablet will sell like hot buns.

  • LG G pad, supports memory card of 64 GB, a little better look at the specification, rather than banging heart

  • Sorry for dissappinting you, but it does have microSD card slot. Better find another reason not to buy this tablet:D

  • make it a gsm device!!

  • there's a google play edition that'll do away with that LG UI.

  • Just bought this master peace, last week ,got it for 299$ for the black model and also bought a class 10 64 GB memory card.did lots of research, was a lot confused between this tab and Samsung note 8.0,but this tablet rocks in the benchmarks and also the screen is too great.been user of galaxy tab 7.7 and Toshiba excite 7.7 and this tab is a great upgrade.

  • You guys should update the details and specification. It's already been released. -_-

  • Great review. Sounds like serious competition for Nexus 7 2013. I was about to buy nexus 7, but i'll wait and try out LG G Pad first.I like the bigger screen..it's much wider. Only thing i don't like is LG UI. Nexus is 32 GB, LG only 16 GB, but LG is expandable. I read PDF's so guess the LG is the better choice. 10" is too big and too heavy to hold when reading in bed. 8.3" is perfect.

  • Just got this beauty delivered today, screen is sharp and crispy but brightness is rather low.Smooth fluid response, can't keep my hands off it..

  • Yas you can find it in jarire bookstor and pric 1199.

  • Ihave this pad..for1week so far no problem encounterd.Sd card slot is availbale.upto64 gb. Battery is very good too. Antutu score of 22k+ is not bad i think.

  • I bought it for about a week It's display better than ipad air even! It's display can work with every merallic thing plus hand! The camera is really good but not as good as ipad mini It's really speedy but lg stock rom is so ram waster

  • From where have you bought it? how much is the price now?

  • Is this already available here in Saudi Arabia? If so, where and what store can I check it?

  • the tab is exceptionally good, loved the way it can multi task with downloaded application including games. gives you options on having two screens at same time. like video and internet browsing and you could run one more app on main screen simultaneously. when i see the power the tab is capable of going ahead and run multiple apps and still i experienced no lags. iam using a 65 gb memory card and occupied 70% of it by movies. when i was using samsung and asus, whenever i filled the tab with movies they started to hang. But this one so far has shown no symtoms of any such thing. Amazing product. i say value for money as the Full HD IPS display kills it. its more better than retina display. LG you have gone beyond my expectations

  • Gorilla Glass or not is not an issue anymore since gorilla glass displays are easily broken. Hence all of touch screen phones today uses scratch proof glasses. If you want the real deal when it comes to glasses, wait until the dragontrail glasses are on the play. They claim to be scratch proof and very strong that it is almost impossible to break.

  • Pls how can i use miracast with my lg tv? I got it right on my tab, but dnt knw how to turn it on on my tv....thnks

  • Next time, read the whole page, especially the top of it where it says very clear "This is not a GSM device, it will not work on any GSM network worldwide." No, it will not use a sim card for calling!

  • pls Does LG Gpad use sim card for calling? and How can I use whatsapp with it.

  • Would anyone know what kind of glass is used? Is it Gorilla Glass?

  • This is the tablet that will be the succecor of my samsung p6800 (When the 4g wersion comes). But only if lg gives a statement of how their Update plan.is.otherwise I will stick to samsung But sad It looks good

  • I do carry my tablet around but not in my pocket. nexus7 2013 and a lenovo A3000. Hahaha...

  • Yes, it has OTG .

  • Ummm.... No it doesn't.

  • It's because your an IPAD fan..

  • LG G Pad 8.3 over Ipad Mini 2: The best advantage of Androids especially G Pad 8.3 is that you can bump the memory to 16GB+64 GB(microSD) total and you can use any USB cable out there to charge or access your device. And btw, it is USD350 vs USD400 Ipad Mini 2 16GB. Another advantage of LG G Pad 8.3 is that it is narrower by almost a centimeter making it more handy pocketable. Ipad mini 2 over LG G Pad 8.3, one reason is that its 7.9" screen with a ratio of 4:3 is best for reading and multimedia. I don't understand why Androids do not use the same aspect ratio, rather they use 16:9 or 16:10-these will make their devices look much longer relative to its width, portrait mode is awkward. I compared the screen area of ipad mini vs LG G Pad 8.3, and the difference is just a sq. inch although G Pad 8.3 has longer screen diagonal, the reason is that it has aspect ratio of 16:10 compared to Ipad's 4:3. Difference = (10*16)(8.3^2)/356-(7.9^2)*0.6*0.8 = 1 sq . in. But ipad mini is a bit wider allowing you to see more view of a document in a portrait mode which the most comfortable for reading, since you can hold with one hand easil

  • What brightness level (50% of max brightness or absolute brightness of e.g. 200 cd/m2) has been used for the battery endurance tests such as browsing and watching video's ?

  • Does it come with 3G version ?

  • Does it come with 3G version ?

  • LG G Pad 8.3 is far better than Samsung galaxy Note 8 especially there is no capacitive keys.

  • LG Pad 8.3 supports LTE and is about the new Nexus 7 price

  • The ipad mini 2 hasn't even been announced yet so there's no guarantee it will be $329. But it will certainly have a smaller screen and possibly lower resolution/ppi. The Kindle Fire HDX has impressive hardware, but you're stuck with Amazon's proprietary OS and app store. What good is that hardware if you don't even have access to Google Play? Considering actual direct competitors on the market right now (Nexus 7, Galaxy Note 8.0) $350 bucks for this device is pretty much right on point. Yes $300 would have made it more competitive, but $350 is in no way outrageous.

  • do we know if it has the apt-x codec ?

  • Couldn't agree more. Guess I'll just have to either wait for the price to drop or get the Google Nexus 7 (2013) but both are still not available in my country.

  • It could have been perfect if it supports communication with LTE.

  • This new tablet (LG G Pad 8.3) that has no track record whatsoever has been priced higher than the iPad Mini 2 and within $20 of the 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HDX (Snapdragon 800 vs. LG's SD 600 and 339 pixels per inch vs. LG's 273 ppi) in the U.S. As soon as I saw the G pad 8.3 $350 price tag I lost interest in this tablet. I don't know whether it was Best Buy or LG that made the pricing decision but at $350 they've lost their chance at being a real force in the U.S. tablet market. $299 would have been perfect.

  • the price will be at US 349 start selling on November.

  • Goodluck with the 4600 mAh battery. Yes it is full HD but I guess that would drain the battery real fast. I bet 4-5 hours continuous video at 50% brightness since S60O isn't really power efficient. And if it is, the battery won't still be enough to power it long enough through the day. It's only 1400 mAh short of Note 3's battery. Going to wait for the iPad mini 2 or 2nd gen Galaxy Note 8. Performance isn't a real issue these days. Most companies have real tricks on that. Battery life is the one at the edge. A really power efficient CPU-GPU or a new battery technology are the one that needs looking into.

  • not really most pad are used at home with wifi, for mobile i have my s4 or any smartphone....... unless u carry your tablet on your pocket all day!!

  • good tablet but no sim card for network mobile likes good car without gasoline..... :)

  • i like this tablet a lot. im buying it mainly because it has a microsd card slot for consuming media and internet for my travels. really nice display and good design

  • have micro sd slot ,up 64 gb

  • Coming to Finland end of October 2013. Price is 299 euros.

  • Why NONE of tech reviewers NOT tested this tablet support for OTG and more over ntfs file system on flash sticks? That would be a very very interesting information for all of us who want to buy new tablet. Waiting for 2 months already and still no information about usb host. If it has no OTG so no matter what a great screen or camera it has I will buy any kind of samsung tab or note, not lg.. :/ Much dissapointed that no one said it has No OTG or it has it.. Lost much time with such kind of reviewers that show nothing on their youtube vids - just sliding screens left and right..

  • why there is no GSM Network. I am interest to buy, but if there is no SIM Card, i think waste of money.

  • If the price is $299 USD, I'm sold. Wish it was Snapdragon 800, though. G Pad or Nexus 7 2013 or Kindle Fire HDX will be one of my next tablet. I will wait and see after all of it are released.

  • Nope, it will be around USD510

  • its because it will still have chat services like facebook chat or other chat apps as it has wifi connecivity, its a way to notify you if some one sends you PM or emails

  • if this is not a GSM / Calling divice. Thus why it is vibrating as Alert type. keep it correct .............

  • verry good.....this pad have so many benifit which todays generation requaired...

  • what?!...do numbers deceive you?..snapdragon 600 is much snappier than the 800! plus the tab is designed to synchronise with a phone using its Q-PAIR!!..w/c is quite cool in my opinion.. :)

  • very very goog

  • LOL the Vu 3 getting Snapdragon 800, but this G Pad 8.3 just got Snapdragon 600. shame on you LG! LOL

  • I really love L.G mobile phones. I fell in love with dis Tab d first time I saw it here on gsmarena. I ws even thinkin of gettin it, but later change my mind when I found out is not usin sim card. I will be waiting for another version of this tab that will be usin sim card

  • I really want to get this tablet, however, I'm torn not understand why they didn't go with the Snapdragon 800 which is in a lot phones. They went with the Snapdragon 600 which is not as powerful and kind of bugs me.

  • Rumours has it that it will cost 'only' USD299. If its true then I getting one. Can't wait.

  • But it doesn't have the ugly physical home button of Note 8.0

  • Mobile WiFi's are available, don't confine yourself to SIM card.

  • without sim its a gud car without petrol

  • I like the way this tablet cleverly represent LG G2 in a big size screen.

  • Sexy...

  • Hope it has usb-host, please show in specs if available. No other good fullhd tablets with microsd and host..

  • i like it.

  • Isn't the chipset only 600 instead 800?

  • yes..

  • This is the perfect sized tab..

  • why no sim

  • Babo

  • nice

  • LG, why are you so silly Instead of making the G Pad being a great tablet this is now just another moderate with wifi only..... but then I guess you always just wanted to be just that, always paying second fiddle? Why not make this tablet Sim card enabled with at least 3 or 4G and being able to make and receive calls and data. Now I have no choice but to buy the samsung 8.0 4g instead.

  • LG should launch this Tab with Dual sim and Amoled display to rock the market.,

  • it make phone calls ?

  • there is a GPU the it's inside the CPU the normal CPUs have their own GPUs but not strong.like in laptops they put stronger then it's own or it's pretty weak that they don't but i think the first is true.not totally sure.

  • it's kinda hard to say it's your wish but main difference here is actually hardware vs software ipad mini series are well designed with IOS OS with famous brand but it doesn't have the hardware of LG Optimus G Pad 8.3.LG provides a quad core 1.7 CPU and a screen with better resolution and with snapdragon 800 Chipset wich is very good and it's android v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean).if you like android LG is your answer for 8.3 inch tablet but if you want ios and cool design and high class wait for ipad mini 2

  • Does anybody know if the G Pad will have USB Host feature for reading usb pens and such?

  • no gpu ???

  • LG, please release with global 4g and phone calls enable and this is all I need to carry when I travel and will buy in heartbeat.

  • Still best tablet even does not have LTE.

  • which will be my next tablet? LG G Pad 8.3 or ipad mini 2? hmmm...

  • I have been looking for a Tab 7.7 replacement for a while as well... this may be it. The only thing is that I dont think it will be cheap.... hopefully they bring out a wifi only version.
