LG Nexus 5 - User Reviews

  • Still using nexus 5 with Lineage OS nougat + microg + magisk systemless..

  • This one of the best phones I ever had,, wish they would bring EXACT same design out with 2019 spec bigger battery.

  • I have it from 2014, still in everyday use. Battery is tired, but I guess it is normal after 5 year of usage. I have noticed an overheating problem with resource intensive games, otherways very good experience with it.

  • I'm using my nexus 5 from July 2014. This is one of the best mobile phones I have ever used. Still no lags.

  • Had one of these at launch, have had various phones since including Huewai flagships but still keep going back to these, even just managed to buy new one for £35 as my original has started showing cracks under glass, best phone ever imo

  • Just bought this phone used for 23,50€. Only now I read the spec sheet and realized it has Qi wireless charging. This phone is absolutely amazing

  • Best phone a had ever . Only problem is the battery. Still working as 2 phone.

  • This happened to mine but you can buy a battery for less than a tenner and it's actually really easy to swap it out, you'll find videos on how to on you tube. My Nexus 5 is now on it's third battery (I bought it at launch) and still going strong.

  • Very good phone, best android phone I had. Unfortunately it just died on me today. The battery gave up, it would not charge above 10%, and when disconnecting the cable, it will drain in couple of minutes. In these years I had only two issue: micro usb port become loose and the power off button sometimes stuck (constantly restarting the app until somehow I managed to unstuck it) I would happily pay a good sum for a similar sized phone, with similar robustness.

  • Best android device I have ever used. Perfectly working even now after 6 years from the date of purchase.

  • best phone ever i had!!!

  • best phone ever i had!!!

  • Awesome and the best handy, still working perfectly since 2013

  • Still going strong with Pure Nexus :)

  • Best phone in the universe bud WI-FI died in Dec 2018 R.I.P (

  • Legend. I bougth it on start of sales. Best smartphone of my life. Unfortunately GSM-module died in January 2019. R.I.P.

  • I bought this phone in 2013. Unfortunately I sat on it and broke my screen in 2015 so I switched to Samsung but the Nexus still works only the microfone is broken. It was the best smartphone I ever had.

  • If you are planning on buying this phone, then you should get the battery replaced.

  • I've had one from March 2014 until December 2018. For 2 years it worked perfectly, except for a broken microphone. In the last 2 years it was getting slower and slower, but still, a very good purchase.

  • I've used the Nexus 5 from January 2014 till december 2017. The only reason that made me change is that the phone crashed every 2min if i was lucky. It was not a bootloop problem but yes a motherboard problem that made me change to an Oneplus 5T. If it wasn't for that issue i would be carrying this phone today. I fell in love with the Nexus 5, got a nice promotion on january and that's when i bought it and it was a beautiful and beasty piece of hardware that i had in my hands. Simple, elegant, minimal, potent, on screeen navigation buttons, awesome display and bright too. Back in 2014 and 2015 IPS was still the best display around with amoled slightly catching up. I liked the camera, i still have a few amazing pictures i took with the nexus 5 on my album. For me the most disapointing "feature" was ofc the battery and that the phone got to 70-80 degrees unbearable to the touch if gaming for more than 20min. What i also didn't like was the speakers, they were too flat and low in volume until i had to root and make them 30% higher in volume and cripsier with an equalizer. Now i own a oneplus 5T with is far superior but to be expected since it's 4 years newer. But i still miss my Nexus 5 and my experiences i had with it with rootings and basically everything i know, thanks to the awesome Nexus 5.

  • Well i changed mine 1 month ago and it was easy as piece of cake. You cant go wrong. Its so easy. Now im getting like 5 hours sot instead of max 2 before.Still using it , works like new.

  • I would agree with you if it had a removable battery. Because changing it is a pain in the butt so it's actually not futureproof at all.

  • Nexus 5 is not running on android 4.0 it is running on android 4.4.2 KitKat

  • Yes, no problem...this phone is still futureproof

  • It works Watsup?

  • I've been using this phone for over 4 years and 11 months (daily driver). Camera and flash crash from time to time (needs to restart but hey!) If you install some GO apps by google you will do ok. I can get another phone, but i am somehow attached to this old one :D Battery life is not so great, camera can't focus every time and crashes. Screen is great, and touch is responsive!

  • Today , 3 October 2018 , i still use it . Of course it's not my daily driver , but it is in a very good shape , like new , it run stock marshmallow 6.0.1 , very good screen , touch is very sensitive , beautiful animation , very good camera , very weak battery about 2 and half hours sot . But it still work , i meant to keep this legendary phone in that good shape because it deserves to be like that

  • you can try mi a1 or mi a2. Son adopted by google. Got huge nexus feeling

  • Nexus 5 was introduced with Kitkat 4.4 not Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0....

  • Almost 4 years using this device. The performance slow down, very lagging when lot of background data processing. Battery performance become worse, need a replacement. Power button already broken that cause auto shutdown and bootloop, already replace 2 years ago and after few years it sink back, but still can be used. Overall I love this phone for the performance, but nothing last forever. Planning on getting pixel 2/ 2 xl when pixel 3 release, waiting price down.

  • Sold my Nexus 5 and purchased an used Nexus 6. Needed an upgrade but wanted to stay in Nexus line. Love the design of both the phones.

  • Never had a cracked screen. But only dropped a few times on quick reflex foot. Camera was always shit at night, slow, crashed after a few years, even with updates. Only this week has started to really slow down. Had to restart a few times. Power button broken. Constantly opening up into camera. Case got dirty I had it so long, had to buy new. Also new screen protector. OS is a little slow these days. Overall, would literally buy another right now. Does everything phones these days do with 6 yo tech.

  • Running smooth & Fast with 7.1.2 (Rooted / Custom Rom). Had replaced battery few months back. Only issue - Rear camera is defective (Shoots blurry image for long distance) Overall -> Awesome phone with low battery backup

  • Generally good phone. Battery life destroyed by system and app updates. Google maps just devours battery and it's slower than it used to be. Camera is slow and it's easy to take blurry photos. Sometimes camera app crashes so badly, I have to restart phone. Phone size and screen are great.

  • I've had this phone from September 2014 and it still works fine apart from some issues I had with the power button which got stuck and kept turning the phone off constantly. Other malfunctions mainly were the camera app and the overheating of the phone during charging. The phone itself has endured quite alot - humidity, dropping, throwing and other wear-and-tear, but it holds strong. The specs were very good at the time of purchase and the camera still does very quality photos quality-wise. This is the longest time I had used a single phone - from 09/2014 - 08/2018 or almost four years.

  • Take it, its so good. Battery holds like 3.5-4 hours constanly used. At least my battery. Depends if its bad or no.

  • This LG NEXUS 5 phone has a non removable (2300 maH) battery. How does it hold the charge after so long? KitKat? (Marshmallow is available). A very old phone but with high specs from 2013 is offered on Craigslist for $50. Is this a good price? Posted 8/11/18

  • And how exactly you have used it for 6 years when it was released 2013?! Go home and do some math.

  • I have had my Nexus 5 on Sprint since March 2015.

  • I've been using my Google Nexus 5 for 6 years now... still works flawlessly!

  • i bought this phone on december 2013 from Japan, it replaced my Samsung Galaxy S ii, it is still alive till now and working flawlessly. I cant imagine a mobile who lived such an age. nowadays, i am considering a new google pixel which can be as nearly durable as this great mobile.

  • Would you know if this phone will work with the Sprint network (tello.com)?

  • This device had android 4.4 kitkat initially

  • I love my Nexus 5. Got it in December 2013, and it was the first smartphone I had that really felt like "mine." Coming from an iPhone 4 then iPhone 5, they both really felt so restricted and that I could only do with them what Apple wanted me to. I used my Nexus 5 full-time until July 2016 when I bought its natural successor, the Nexus 5X. I was happy with my Nexus 5X until it fell victim to the apparently-common bootloop hardware fault while I was on holiday and I bought some Huawei rubbish to replace it on short notice. I've ditched the Huawei and am back to running my Nexus 5, resurrected from the junk drawer that it never deserved to be in. I've ordered a new battery for it, but that's the only thing as far as I can tell that's degraded at all since new. I'm running Android 7.1 courtesy of LineageOS and it's perfect. Still as snappy as it ever was. It even works with contactless Google Pay, which was years away (in Australia at least) at the time the phone was launched. The only thing I miss is the fingerprint reader, but I can live without that for a while. I suppose it's too much to hope for that Google will go back to great hardware for a reasonable price any time soon?

  • Yes

  • great phone, father of nexus series, no bugs no any other issues in this phone, i am using from 2013. now going to upgrade with google pixel

  • In India, this phone is known as the iPhony 5X, and instead of running Android Marshmellow, it runs iOS 8.

  • Nexus 5 had KitKat as it's stock, not Ice Cream Sandwich.

  • what is so funny about it? on release it had android 4.0 and now after 5 years it supports android 6.0.1 and still runs smoothly.

  • "Platform OS Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), upgradable to 6.0 (Marshmallow)" LOL Correct your specification because it looks really funny.

  • this phone is support 4g LTE

  • Got mine at in late 2014 and was my daily driver for about 2 1/2 years. Really good specs at a an unbeatable price of 350$/€ (back then when Google sold devices for making Android popular rather than earning money or prestige). Really loved the display and it has a pretty good camera that still can keep up with current mid-range devices, I still think it captures image details better than my current Moto G5 Plus and features more vivid colors. Never had any complaints about performance (Snapdragon 800 series plus 2 GB RAM are still decent hard), only battery life was a bit of an issue, never getting more than 1 1/2 days with medium usage and hardly hitting 24 hours as a worn out device now. I also like the size which is just perfect, not sure why people were too picky about the plastic body, the white back kept up very well and it is pretty light compared to my Moto but still feels solid. Got two major updates from Google (Kitkat to Marshmallow), sadly its support has been discontinued because Android 7/8 would have helped with performance and battery consumption for sure. Maybe there's some ports but after the geeky days I prefer stable builds over features...

  • I love mine... does everything I want. I have no problem with battery lasting all day. That said, I keep all unnecessary radios turned off (WiFi, data) & when I put it on the charger at night I usually have 60-70% battery left. There are times when I'd like a memory card slot but I get along fine without it.I mostly use WiFi File Transfer to get stuff to/from it which suffices. I bought mine used a while back from someone who took great care of it. Previous to that I had one on loan from my workplace for a few months which got me hooked.

  • @obabarin I purchased my replacement battery from eBay. It is an easy job and takes about ten minutes to replace.

  • how were you able to change the battery? where/which site did you buy it from. i will like to get a replacement battery as well

  • 4 years and still phone is perfect in every scenario! Except from battery aging issue there is no other problem. Technically snapdragon 800 is outdated for newer OSs but still using the latest software and security patch with as smooth running as ever.Amazing great Display! Totally loved it!

  • 4 Years now and still a great phone!

  • after changing battery phone still feel new for me, very confortable and light, can't say that about other phones

  • Can't say goodbye to him 4 years old now with me

  • I got a battery off of amazon/ebay for under 50 bucks. My WiFi stopped working as well but surprisingly baking the motherboard wrapped in foil for 8 minutes @ 200 Celcius (approximately 400 Fahrenheit) and it actually fixed the WiFi issue! Detailed instructions on how to do it:

  • one of the best phones ever made , goodbye old friend

  • Actually, both parts can be bought for £10 delivered. I just checked on Aliexpress.

  • I was really happy with mine. Battery was clearly dying and just after 4 years of use wifi stopped working. Motherboard needs to be replaced plus the battery (costs like 250$), I am really upset but I guess not many phones reach this age anyways.I will test it using mobile data just to see how much the rest is affected. Great phone but crashed after 4 years.

  • I have changed my battery and its going really good ... still running smooth after 3.8 years.. though i broke the glass

  • Had this magnificent phone but it was slowly dying on me, random restarts and the phone got really hotm unbearable hot and shat down. I managed to buy a oneplus 5 in september but i think it wasn't a worthy upgrade. But when oneplus 5T launched, i saw the resemblance on the front design, on screen buttons... I purchased it right away and gave my oneplus 5 to my wife. What i mean is, if you're trying to upgrade, don't go further, go with the oneplus 5T. That's the only worthy upgrade from my beloved nexus 5. Been happy ever since.

  • Yep. Totally agree with you guys. Awesome phone except for battery (I carry a power-bank specifically for it :D Even the Oreo custom rom runs smoothly. Maybe will change the battery and see whether I get any difference.

  • I´ve been using this phone over 3,5 years now. Just like the perpetum mobile, goes on on and on... Bought it brand new, rooted it, but never installed any cooked ROMs. Still on 4.4.4 which I think, the best one for Nex5. The screen cracked, but both, the LCD and the digitizer work fine. I really like the grip, better than the metal unibody. Never had to repair or replace anything. The battery is maybe the only con. Need a charger at home, in the car and at the job. I´ll send this device to retirement to my old htc Trinity and Diamond, because the new guy is already in town. I was very satisfied with this handheld.

  • Yep the build quality and sleek look ......Awesome

  • Put phone into Recovery mode and flush the cache partition: 1) Turn phone OFF and reboot holding down Power + Vol Up + Vol Dn. 2) Use Vol Dn to select Recovery mode. 3) Press Power ONCE and the Android robot lying down appears. 4) Hold Power and while doing so press Vol Up ONCE. 5) Press Vol Dn to 'Wipe cache partition' and press Power ONCE. 6) Select 'YES' and press Power. It takes a while to clear, be patient. 7) When the Boot menu appears again select 'Reboot system now' and press Power again.

  • phone has frozen the screen will not scroll and stuck on voice aid

  • sony xperia? how would you recommend an xperia. Every sony flagship devices have the same problem. Overheating. When playing games the phone is unbearable and untouchable. it goes above 50 degrees. sometimes hitting 60 only doing antutu 3x times in a row. While the oneplus 5 stays cool to the touch. I would rather recommend an oneplus 5. Now, THAT is a phone. I had the nexus 5 and the only good replacement was the oneplus 5

  • Unfortunately, kid soaked it in water, and now it works but not 100%, some screen issues. So it must go away as primary phone After 3 years of usage - best phone i ever had/tried. Even 16 GB internal RAM was not big enough flow to replace it. No android phone can ever match nexus s/4/5 phones.

  • Fixing power button took 10 minutes to find and buy needed button on the net (~6 EUR), after getting button, it took seasoned electronics engineer few minutes to replace it (another 10 EUR). That's it.

  • This phone is great and exceptional but the only issue i have is since i broke the original screen it's been an issue now i always have to change the screen always and it's too expensive

  • I bought this phone a few months ago, I love it! I can't believe it is from 2013! I've installed Paranoid Android custom ROM on mine - Android 7.1.2, and its brilliant! The stock Android 6.0 was laggy, crashed a lot and kept restarting. This phone now does more than the Samsung I bought new last year, plus it no longer crashes at all, is super smooth and stable and surprisingly OK on battery life. Once this one no longer holds its charge (as I predict this will be its demise) I will definitely be getting another Nexus!

  • This phone ran for 4 years. Very good phone. I did drop it once on the road about a year ago. A few days ago the power button got stuck. R.I.Pieces (as it would have been to expensive to fix)

  • 4 years of heavy usage and ran the race very well till date! I never dropped it & always had a case, believe it or not still with original screen cover ( with Nexus5 printed on it, though worn out now). That's all till now..... But unfortunately, I have started to experience random restarts, severe boot loops, rear camera and flash failure. This is probably due to hardware degeneration.

  • yea stock android and 6-12 months delay update is the same thing !

  • Sony is releasing its new SOny Xperia XZ1 Compact with flagship specs, and almost same screen as this one. Why not check for it? If its for OS, sony's own skin is not that much of a different from native android skin..

  • 2017 still no real replacement for this phone :| i got stuck with this

  • Tried cleaning it with a fine toothbrush, to be honest there wasn't really much dirt in it and it didn't make the sound any louder. That phone was used day in day out so hardware degradation was unfortunately inevitable.

  • WOW 2013 phone with lolipop

  • About that call volume issue, did u clean the small round receiver(white) at the top of the phone? I had the same issue - I cleaned it and the sound was clear

  • same problem..I heard that it's a common problem of this phone

  • My LG Nexus 5 is not charging ,what can I do?

  • ye, the nexus 5 a good phone, i loved it. The problem with it was the dam battery and heating issues. The oneplus 5 is a whole galaxy better than the nexus 5. LG has been known to have issues until 2016. The LG G6 was the first true flagship of LG since 2012 without any flaws.

  • Clash Royale used to make my phone lag and could easily zap a full battery in 45mins although it didn't crash and the highest temperature it ever got to was 60 degrees c. I think one of the problems with the nexus 5 is that some devs still release games with Max graphics enabled on it and to be honest while it's still a great phone it can't handle these graphics as it overheats or empties the battery in record speed. For me it's a good spare phone although the in call volume as degraded over the years which was one of the factors that made me find a replacement.

  • After using the HTC 10 for a couple of weeks I can say it definitely was the right choice. Battery is great, no lags despite filling storage up and performance is noticeably awesome.. I like the way I can Max the graphics in high end games and play them so smooth like they're in low graphics. Performance wise there shouldn't be any noticeable difference between this and the pixel as the pixel opted for lower CPU clock speed with its Snapdragon 821 . I'm really going to find it hard finding my next phone if all flagships are performing this well...although if the pixel 2 has audio to match this then I might just get one.. Miss the timely updates..🤣

  • After numerous problems with my Nexus 5, namely overheating to 95C Celsius, yup, you could basically boil an eg over that thing, constant shut downs and freezes. In mid game like clash royale it would simply reboot itself. Then 10 attempts of restoring my phone to original without shutting down the phone at the 10th i was successfull. But Sim card wasn't recognized and Wifi signal was shit, always failing. Phone shat down several times too. So i decided it was tie to part ways and had to upgrade to a new one. Namely a OnePlus 5, ordered it on the 4th/09/2017 and recieved it today, 2 days for a livery for Portugal, costs me 499.99€ and i don't regret it at all. What an awesome phone. Even tho i still love my nexus 5, i really do i had to upgrade because of the constant problems. One thing's for sure, i wouldn't upgrade if the phone was fully working without any issues. The nexus 5 is speedy as fak and it has everything what it needs to be a good phone. Ofc the onelpus 5 is another level, so far, loving the new features

  • I lost mine, so I replaced it 2 years ago with this one... (still fast, use it every day!)

  • Hi.. I'm the user of Google Nexus 5 , i have been using the Nexus since 1 yrs..the issue is my cell got suddenly off and not on i have given to all nearest Nexus service centres still not issue solved

  • Yes, pixel is expensive and audio quality is not that good but in performance it is way ahead than htc 10 and in camera department also pixel is better

  • Finally upgraded. Got an HTC 10. Runs beautifully , nice battery life, better screen, and the audio is incredible as it uses separate dac for the headphones...i thought my nexus 5 was impressive in the headphones but HTC 10 takes it to another level. Not had any problems with bloatware after disabling. Like it says on a YouTube video, the best phone you're not buying. Still got my nexus 5 and OK the battery is poor but it always was and it's no worse than when I got it. Glad I didn't get the google pixel as I only paid £285 for this (unlocked version too) and the pixel would have cost £400+ and for that I would have worse audio, worse looks and worse screen on the 5inch version plus I think the 5incher only has 3gb ram so really I've saved money and got a better phone in my eyes. Yes the pixel has the 821 over the 820 but it's only marginally better.

  • I got a cheap one 1.2A and with a decent USB cable charges faster than the original.

  • i can't found nexus 5 charger :'( can somone give me name charger recommend for nexus 5 like galaxy s4 charger .........

  • It's the same situation, don't mind it.

  • use a power/battery bank. that is normal. battery is weak even with wi-fi only.

  • the battrey can't stay more than 4 h at 3g or 4g conniction right ? please guys tell me how much nexus 5 battrey stay with u :'( i wanna know if my phone have propleme with battery if i play clash royal phone drain battery fast who have this propleme ?

  • i don't think its the bootloop problem nor the power button. Since my screen showed artifacts and after 3 seconds it shat down, impossible to start it. the only way was to power it on with the charger. My phone crashed, not freeze. Like a BSOD on windows. Explain me what your nexus 5 had please

  • Got it on december 2013 (so it's going for a 4th birthday) and still running smoothly. Great phone!

  • After putting my original battery back, the phone looks functional. Didn't suffer a reboot for 4 Days straight. Didn't turn it off yet tho. What i suspected to be a hardware failure might just really be the battery or a loose connection somewhere. Hopefully it will continue to work flawlessly because i will keep this phone untill it dies. I was almost settling for a Xiaomi Mi6 for 400€ or an OnePlus 5 for 520€ then all of a sudden the nexus 5 starter to work normally. Call it fate or destiny, even my Nexus 5 knows these aren't a worthy upgrade.

  • The best phone I ever had. Got a couple of issue like boot looping and battery doesn't last long while using net. I've been using this phone since 3 years and I don't feel like getting another phone. Truly the best Beast!!

  • Same problem happened to me rason power button stuck inside....visited service center problem solved easily.

  • This phone is a tank. I dropped it in the toilet and though it worked, the volume down stuck and it would only Boot in safe mode. A week later I dropped it in ice water and it sat for at least an hour till I took it out, I was camping so I didn't have rice, so I tossed it in the dirt overnight.. 2 days and some dirt and cracks later I plugged it in at home and it booted in normal mode (not safe mode) and still works fine to this day.

  • If it was avaible id buy that again. Mine just died after 4 years of 24/7 use. R.I.P

  • I can't believe people are complaining about not having an SD slot. Come on, all your pictures/videos are saved on google storage. i have the 16Gb variant. i have 12 games, Clas royale, real racing 3, dungeon hunter and other little ones. i have many apps, my phone is rooted and i installed Nougat 7.2.1 Dark Rom. Now i'm having a problem with the phone randomly shutting down and not turning on. Thought it was the battery, ordered a new one and the problem persists. It's not the bootloop problem since that occurs with the power button and he phone restarts the whole time. My screenjust freezes, artifacts are showing and turns itself off. I really think the hardware might be the culprit. Damit I really loved that phone and i don't want to waste 600e for a oneplus 5, since not even that one is a worthy upgrade. What a shame. i might settle with a xiaomi Mi5 for 250e for a couple of years and see if there's finally a good phone somewhere in 2019

  • like mention earlier, try full flash and install official ROM from Google web. it might help. if still doesn't last could be your button issue need sent to LG for check.

  • that normal bro my nexus 5 getting heat after playing games like asphalt 8

  • Y is my n5 getting heat

  • Yeah ur right ^^ maybe should downgrade to kitkat marchmillow drain battrey but not that much right ?

  • Yes, that is the only problem. Other than that its a very nice phone. I have to charge it twice daily if i use it heavily (Data, browsing etc)

  • i have nexus 5 and its cool phone :') but one question my nexus 5 battrey drain fast its stay 4H OR 5H on data connected or wifi i'm on marchmillow right now evrey 3 minute my phone drain 1% is that normal ?

  • Dark rom recommended

  • Just swapped mine for a OnePlus 5. It's a bit bigger but very happy with it.

  • I had this phone since november of 2013. I had small problems: bootloop and I've already change the battery. I really love it but it's time to get a new one! Any suggestions in the same price range?

  • after having this beast of a phone for almost 4years and not spending even a dollar on repairs finally it broke .the wifi doesn't turn on anymore and the macaddr is changed to something I can't even read. its almost unrepairable unless your willing to spend 200$. the BEST phone I've ever had so far

  • After 4years the phone's internal memory broke and was unrepairable. Internal memory chip is vulnerable and low quality. After the sudden memory corrosion phones: camera, calling and google store stopped working making the phone unusable.

  • I had the N5 for two years, bought it in April 2014 It was and still is my favorite phone of all time, but it died on me out of nowhere. What happened was the damn bootloop issue, and the powerbutton issue - at the same time! It's so frustrating, and I was so angry because I couldn't find an adequate upgrade with a good value, so I was using my wife's Xperia SP (crappy piece of junk) for over a year now. I finally decided to buy a Huawei Honor 8 now, because it's price and performance makes it the best choice for me at the moment. Anyway, the Nexus 5 was a great phone, and its successors don't do it justice (5x is crap, 6 and 6p are overpriced and don't offer anything worth mentioning in terms of upgrades to the n5). It's a pitty that the Nexus line hasn't continued to offer great devices at low prices like it did until EOL of Nexus 5.

  • problem with the earphone slot

  • Please am using nexus5 , i cant make calls and listen to music without a headset. How do i solve the problem

  • how to fix wifi not turning on issue?

  • I am using this phone since december 2013 and still going absolutely only issue since begging is battery life but still same back up. only once i had bootloop issue . I JUST took it to local repair shop. He just changed the power button and its all fine now. camera is still better then many flag ship still so smooth

  • Yes. If you need more updates, then you need to Root your device and Flash Custom Roms.

  • @Nature The N5 is almost 4 years old, it won't be getting any further updates because the hardware is too old.

  • I need to upgrade nexus to the latest version but of late the phone use to alert me abt it but it doesn't anymore

  • U mean when u try to enter Recovery mode? If u want to Flash Zips, then you need to flash custom recovery (Ex: TWRP)

  • How to repaer no command in nexus5

  • ive fixed this by pressing the power button as hard as i could for a few seconds, be careful not to break it though

  • Try out clearing dalvik cache , I was also facing same issue.

  • this problem occurs when power button or motherboard has damaged.go to lg service center.they will channge hardware.I guess, problem is in phone's power button.

  • hello Mango :).. i m using same LG nexus 5, and have reboot problem like phone gets suddenly switch off and than half way of switch on process it get again n again switch off. this problem occur 3-4 times in a week. what should I do?

  • For the bootloop issue, there was a solution in youtube and it worked for me :)

  • Yes, it supports 4G.

  • Still using this phone in 2017, only draw back is the battery. Those having auto reboot (bootloop) and suspect button issue, i suggest u all flash the official ROM from google. Clean installation may help u solve those problem, at least on mine. Last, I'm sad google cancel Nexus line...

  • I bought one in 2014 from the google play store. I should mention I live in Canada, this will be important later on. After a year and two months, after the warranty expired. The phone would be in a bootloop. It would start and then load a bit and then shut off, over and over and over again. I sent it in to LG, after hours of getting in contact with the right people, it cost me $40 to send it there and they refused to send it back to me in Canada so I had to have them send it to my grandmother in Michigan and pay another $40 to ship it back. It cost me $75 to repair it and took almost a month to get it repaired and back in my hands. Only two weeks later, the power button didn't work so I had to do the fun roundabout again. It cost me another $80 in shipping, but thankfully it was covered under warranty (insert sarcastic "yeah!" here) Got it back another month later and honestly.... it just wont start at all now and I'm done with it. Too make it better my boyfriend at the time lent me an extra Nexus 5 he had (he also had to send it in for the bootloop problem but he bought it through Bell so he could have it repaired in Canada) one day when i was charging it i smelled a burning scent and the phone had melted at the power port. Long story short i hate this phone, I hate LG and I will never buy an LG or Nexus phone ever again. I would suggest you do the same for this phone or else you might be delving out some serious cash.

  • Which version gives better battery backup? 6.0.0 or 6.0.1?

  • I've had my phone for almost 3 years now. I've had a few bug issues, nothing serious though, nothing software updates wouldn't fix. My power button started having some issues last september since I can't use it for screenshots anymore because it'll power down the phone, but I found a work around with a screen shot app. Still...the phone runs better than when I bought it, very smooth and fast. Highly recommend it!

  • Thanks to Google to own Nexus 5, Awesome cellphone, Specially phone gripping is very good, battery timing, no hanging issue.

  • more than 3year phone working well, super qulity product

  • more than 3 years, the phone still survive and working well

  • Battery of LG Nexus 5 is avial or not

  • this astonishing phone has a camera that supports RAW and can shoot low light. shutter speed, manual focus, exposure and manual ISO which is essential for mobile photography. one of the best phones I've ever had

  • It is my best smartphone ever

  • i have installed custom rom but can anyone help me to get best of it ?

  • Well it actually came back more advanced. Now it's the Lg Nexus 5X. Best phone ever in my opinion

  • October 2014*, so i used it for 2.5+ years

  • I'm not able to get over this Nexus 5...Just like I can't get over Windows XP Pro 32bit OS, it's the perfect developer device for me so far. Perfect size, looks and specs are live able. :-)

  • Am a big fan of Nexus 5. used it for 3 years. No complaints at all till then. After 3 years battery gradually went down and I bought an new mobile. I would definitely buy if it comes to market with improved specifications like 3GB RAM, camera etx

  • Serves me well since october 2015, The best phone ever. Unfortunatley its time to say goodbye. i have ordered the 5x and hope that it will sever me better!

  • Still using this phone since 2014, the only thing that sucks is the Camera

  • I am using this phone Nexus 5 from 2014, it is an awesome phone without any lag not even today. The Hardware of this phone is amazing and it works like charm even with 20 apps at a time. I never cleared apps from tray. The camera quality is the only one factor which is not that level. On a whole it remained as my best phone till date in market. I used to see the lag on the phones very common in every phone including flagship phones from reputed brands, but this is killer phone.

  • Best Nexus phone ever! I've been using this phone for 3 years since 2015. Although the camera is sucks but other than that it was great!

  • Iam using nexus 5 from 2015 til now there is no hanging problem battery life is good i use WiFi continuously for 6 hours battery remains 10percent on mobile networks 4 hours continues usage Phone's Hardware is great and excellent. More than 50 times phone has fallen but there is no single scratch or hardware problems. Just go for it.

  • dude its nexus (the power full hardware)

  • The front camera is so bad and for the battery timing isnt that good either

  • It is alright, however with recent updates to the camera app it seems to decide when it wants to work. And sometimes when that happens you might see something you want a photo of but you can't take it due to the camera supposedly not functioning or not connecting properly, thus the connection error. The battery life when you get it brand new is alright but after 2-3 years it starts to get bad (maybe that's personally because of all my apps, I honestly don't know). But its a practical phone and it is a great alternative to a iPhone if you don't want to spend a lot.

  • What is the battery timing as I am planning to buy this phone? Front camera is good or not?

  • Yes, LTE is another name for 4G, so whenever you see LTE on a phone's specs, you know it has 4G.

  • I have recently upgraded to the Nexus 5X, but Nexus 5, undoubtedly the best Android phone you can get, runs smoothly to the point that people believe it can run Android N and Google don't which isn't a big issue, this is just a great phone; the down side is the battery, try avoid unlocking bootloader for rooting purposes because it can cause your battery to drain extremely fast but I advice you to get this phone for a new Android user, cheap and reliable..

  • Does it support 4g

  • I just bought one today updated it to the latest version love the phone runs great battery life I can tell will be a problem if you can't k3ep a charger around you all around great phone only thing I have to ask ?????? WHAT THE IS WITH THE BIG GAP ON THE BOTTOM LOL just left space there u could put buttons the phone logo something smh Google was still working on the look of these Nexus phones obviously but as for the insides great working faster than ever !!!!

  • No update? Lol bro just unluck your phone update manually, mine running 7.1 nougat.and i have multi rom installed. .5 rom actually, the still rocking

  • Is the front cam good ??

  • Battary too bad

  • battery backup is bad

  • Cool. Will the battery last a day on normal usage? ( whatsapp ,light browsing/music etc)

  • Yes, the battery isn't great but this phone is a breast in performance. It's been over 2+ years & still love it.

  • I am planning to get this phone (used one) ... But I saw in many sites...that battery backup is very bad...is it true?

  • Why not? Is it related to cybersecurity?

  • This phone is awesome,3 years used now heating, drain battery rapidly,i done replace new battery, version 4.4.4 still Rick in roll ,this phone i love

  • I have this phone since December 2013,and i love it,no complain.

  • Don't buy this phone now.No updates,3 years old phone.Try latest phone.but nexus 5 awesome phone.

  • nexus for sure

  • My sister having LG nexus 5 phone. Its awesome in her hand i always love the look of it but now what to do when its happening please see this

  • Buy nexus5 instead of iphone5

  • Buy Iphone 5s

  • I am deciding to buy a phone. Which one should I buy? Iphone 5 or Nexus 5?

  • CyanogenMod

  • Please update 7.0 & vote

  • That's Google ignore given update

  • Battery life is good. One full day of medium use. If you're like me and use cpu/gpu intense apps then like me you may need to recharge it in the evening. Well worth the money.

  • I just got the phone yesterday and was looking for a std slot

  • why does that matter?

  • how is the battery life? thanks

  • you can put a custom rom and it will have the newest nougat update :D

  • As of now situation like , Nexus 5 will never update to Android N. Which mean maximum updatable version of Nexus 5 is Android 6.0. Before buy consider about this :)

  • this phone should have sd slot can be most best phone, i have iphone 6 but i still stay by nexus 5

  • i love this device!!! developement support is death,YES! but!! this have a lot of unnoficial support! :'D

  • I have a Nexus 5. I really, really like it! The best phone I've ever had. The only problem I have run into is that I have run out of room. There is no SD drive capability, which stinks. I had to get a new phone. I chose the Galaxy Note 4. I certainly don't like it near as much as the Nexus. I am going to look for a newer version Nexus, hoping to find that they update to allow an SD card! My Nexus 5 has held up quite nicely. The battery life is still sharp. The camera is nice. I don't like my new phone and want to go back to the Nexus 5 but I need more storage room.

  • I have one

  • Hi is this a good phone is in terms of the time it will live because I was just reading up on a 5x that after a year the motherboard gives up the gost

  • hi i want to buy a good used nexus 5. what do u think should I????? thanks

  • No, it is not dual sim

  • you act like anyone gives a damn

  • No it does not. I own this phone, have dismantled it entirely multiple times and I can assure you the only card slot on this device is single SIM.

  • This phone is dual sim card

  • Hi I am using nexus 5 32GB Last 1.5 years it super awesome mobile without any problem it running smoothly I am using jio also network is too faster it got more 20mbhs its to good mobile buy the mobile and enjoy

  • just replace ur power button..... even i faced this problem and it solved.......

  • R nexus 5 support jio

  • Yes. I am using this phone with T-mobile. It works with LTE (G4)

  • Exactly when you press power botton it switches off automatically..

  • Yes

  • Nexus 5 is it support to the 4g network?

  • I had the same problem. I solved it by pulling it apart and cleaning the power button. It was fixed for a few weeks then it started again. I took my case off and left it off and this fixed the problem. Its been about 8 months and I haven't had an issue. This is the video I used to clean my button.

  • Change your network type to LTE mode to 2G, Problem will be resolved!

  • Don't worry .This problem is due to damage in power button.Go to LG service center.they will change it.

  • Phone automatically switching off when i press power button. And after so much efforts it gets starts.

  • Facing problem in signal connectivity of Airtel since last few days. Please guide .

  • Mother board crashed and too because of new software update.

  • I also had the "No SIM" problem after upgrading to Android 6.0.1. Make sure you don't have a faulty SIM card by testing it in another phone. If your SIM is good... 1. Back up all the necessary data from your phone. 2. Download Nexus Root Toolkit and run it. Unlock the bootloader and install a fresh copy of the latest OS. 3. Re-install your apps. 4. Restore your data from backup.

  • Bro not showing sim card is a very serious problem..as far as I know it won't get resolved..and nexus 5 is not going to get nougat

  • I had the same problem and had to take it to the repair shop to get the internal power switch replaced, it will wear out and stop making contact that's why you only get the google logo.

  • U Need Nexus Root TollKit

  • motherboard crashed. same problem occured in my nexus 5 also.

  • I turn off my phone. Then I try to turn on. Phone can't turn on. Only google logo is appearing and for about 2-3 seconds it's dissappearing. Please can you help me?

  • There is always problems with new updates

  • Garbage Phone,Every Day New Problem. And No Help From Manufacturer.

  • Personnally, i'd upgrade my current phone to another one for newer features ! and i'd never change it for design and outlook,as i said i only look for features and you already know google's strategy concerning the exclusive features for newer flagships. i don't believe in changing a handset with the same handset just to spend my money to no avail, because it's newer,so, it'd be better or because the whole world buy it. why would you even compare phones to cars? multi window tasking,3D touch,or google assistant isn't wingy mirrors i'd prefer an old classic car above a newer car ! for phones, another story is told. you just can't compare for example nexus 5 with nexus 6p.

  • There are many apps in google or apple that need new(upgraded) version of OS. I guess that's why most of people tend to upgrade the OS.

  • The new IPhone 7 is a cheapened phone designed to compete with cheap Android phones that sell for $400 and under, but at the same time hoping people will still pay a premium for the Apple name. It has terrible specs, most of them worse than the Nexus 5. And why does this world need Apple Pay unless the fees are lower than PayPal when we already have so many payment systems? On the other hand needless to say I don't think the iPhone 7 Plus is worth over $1000 either. The prices of flagship models keep climbing, but there's more and more cheap Android devices available. I also refuse to buy a Pixel. All I had wanted was a plastic Nexus 5x like device perhaps with slightly better specs, like the same size screen and specs as the Nexus 5 but with AMOLED. But instead they had moved the cheaper model upmarket with its metal and glass construction, its fingerprint reader, its camera, its new processor, and forcing me to buy 32 GB of storage instead of 16 GB plus a card option (after also leaving it out of the Nexus 5 three years ago), which is all I need. Sorry Google. There's too many models available under $500 that offer all I need.

  • They blocked it for that phone. It has to be a 5x, 6, or 6P. Thanks Google. Planned obsolescence, trying to have my buy a new phone sooner.

  • Download purify app. It gave me 3 times the battery life.

  • I don't understand this obsession with OS upgrades. Let's say that your phone is a car. You have had it for about a year and it works fine the way it is and gets you where you want. Then the car manufacturer brings out a new model. It is exactly the same as the one you already have except that it has different wing mirrors. Would you want to change the car that works perfectly well for a model with different mirrors. Of course you wouldn't. If your phone works perfectly well and does everything you want then why would want a new OS which, reading other tech sites, has a few problems with calls, bluetooth, camera flash etc.

  • I want to upgrade my Nexus 5 to Nougat so can you tell me if upgrade to Nougat so the problem can occur in my phone?

  • @ ZakaRia OuH This is what happens when you install a 'cooked' ROM. A new battery won't help, the same thing will happen again.

  • No sim card showing in my nexus 5, how can I solved problem?? Guys plz help me, and when I will get Android 7 nougat upgrade in my nexus 5?

  • Would anyone here possibly tell me where to buy an original battery for my nexus 5 ? my battery is becoming worse. i have updated my phone to AOSP Nougat 7.1 and no the battery can't even give me 2.5 of Screen on time.

  • People brag abt the battery backup..guys battery in our phone isn't forever..please change the battery ( i did it manually) after the first year, after that the phone is good as new. The best phone I ever owned. Google is the best. The next phone I will get will be from Google for sure..maybe pixel..but 110% satisfied with my Nexus 5

  • @Faizu The Nexus 5 ceased production in December 2014, so any model that you buy now has to be a used unit that is around two years old. If it doesn't work properly then you are the fool for buying it.

  • I'm very disappointed with lg nexus 5. Frist wifi and bluetooth not working after one month sim not showing. Waist phone

  • Is there any chance of getting band 40 2300Mhz on Nexus 5 D820 model. if possible let me know the process of getting it.

  • best smartphone so far. I've had like 10. changed the battery myself 3 months ago.

  • I bought my LG Nexus 5 from Jan 2014 and use it until now. I changed battery one time (by myself) and after that phone becomes like new. I many times wanted to buy new phone but after compare with my Nexus, I refused to buy new one since my phone is such good and nothing wrong.

  • Had mine since May 2014. Loved the marshmallow upgrade. Battery is starting to get weak. Marshmallow really allowed phone to go through night with little battery loss. Only fault was when in car, I use polarized sunglasses. With this screen, everything disappears when in landscape mode when viewing through these glasses. Also, red finish didn't stand up to grit that inevitably gets in between the case and the phone. I am ordering a Moto Z play now to replace it, but I have always loved it.

  • Using this phone since it was launched in India at the end of Nov 2013.Its working flawlessly to ever since then. It never ran into even a single problem. It survived many drops without a case. I literally abused it physically and technically. Installed n number of custom ROMs. Now running Cyanogenmod 13. This phone is the best phone I ever owned. Period. Now battery back up has reduced a lot and I am going to change battery and will continue to use Nexus 5 as secondary phone. Its hard to find replacement for this phone. Sad to hear that Google has discontinued Nexus line.

  • Your are right bro it working perfectly fine and beast performing device overall I am satisfied with device

  • When was the last time you cleared your cache? Sounds like why your phone would be shutting down and restarting while still having battery life and being laggy. It's a freaking computer, it requires maintenance just like a computer.

  • yes

  • will it support 4G

  • Phone is awesome, battery performance in normal. I am using it from last 2 year and i am highly satisfied with performance even m nor using any cover on phone and its still looking brand new.

  • How is the battery backup?

  • Friends pls tell me why there is a lot diff in price compare to other sites...very low price makes me confused a lot whether its a trustable...plssss suggest me friends..thanks in advance..

  • I bought Nexus about 2 years ago. I am a very high end user, lots of gaming, movies and all day internet access. But performance is the key for this phone. Never got any hanging or lagging issue. Not a single flaw in 2 years. Always a buttery performer. Sleek design and light weight allows me to use it with one hand. As it is a single sim phone. I bought two more phones in between (one Samsung and one MI, which were heavier on paper specifications than nexus 5). Even MI have been 3 times to service center in a year only. But this phone beats them all. After such a long time, with this device. I am quiet happy with this buy.

  • @Mantis Every charge damages the battery by a tiny amount. The life of a phone battery is usually measured at 500 charges, so if you charge your phone every day then the battery is in a poor state after about 18 months. That applies to EVERY phone, not any one particular manufacturer.

  • Great phone. I've had for almost 3 years now. The performance is still good given all the apps and upgrades in OS over the years. The battery has been the only thing that has been a problem for me however I suppose if you have a battery case it will be much better. The camera is decent except under low light conditions. My needs have changed where I need a better camera now otherwise I'd keep it for another year maybe two.

  • I had this phone for about 2 and half years, it has smooth design, good main camera, and fast processor. It was amazing from the day I bought it till the day I broke it (dropped and crushed the screen), it was a worthy phone ofc!

  • @sayashree Be fair, this phone is approaching it's 3rd birthday now; you can't expect it to perform the way it did when it came out of the box. If you still have the box you can tell when it was made if you check the white label on the box and look at the serial number. It starts (in my case) 311K.... The 3 shows the year and the 11 shows the month that it was made, so I know that my N5 was manufactured in November 2013. I don't expect it to operate the same as it did 3 years ago!

  • jio4gvoice

  • I vote AGAINST Nexus 5. Dont even think about it. It betrayed me many times. After about 18 months of use (with screen-cover and protective case), no heavy texting, no heavy internet or music use or gaming it looks like new, but acts sick. - switches off although there is still enough power in the battery. Needs lots of acrobacy to switch it back on - suddenly would get stuck - no app would work, restarting does not help, taking out the card and cleaning it does not help, trying to call the number from a pay-phone does not help (I dont have to tell you how disturbing it is...not being to able to make a business call when promissed, receive sms and reply to them before date, etc). - battery life is truly very short.

  • which application??

  • It is not volte but u can download applications to make it compatible

  • What about LG G2 voice calling on jio network? Does it support VoLTE?

  • use pre activated sim it will work fine

  • You can't activate that my friend

  • The battery will be behaving erratically because of its age as well as bad software optimization.

  • Simply put the jio sim ....But keep in mind that the sim should be already activated on any other mobile.

  • Please tell me briefly how u activate reliance gio sim in your Google Nexus 5 d 820?

  • Simply put the jio sim ..... No need to install any Jio app ....BT keep in mind the dim should be aldredy activated n any other mobile itz a simple way

  • What is that download? Is it monthly security update or some other? Let me know the file name it's having.

  • I got a software update in my Nexus 5 and it is not getting download.. I have 4g access along with wifi but still it is not downloading..what to do???

  • Thanks for your reply. Any how i am able to get 4G LTE without any modification Using Reliance jio sim with my Nexus 5 D820. Working with good speed. Only one thing bad is the Battery Backup, cant even get it full day with my very less usage too.

  • Bro, U can only call using JioJoin The normal dialer doesnt work Also Jio has a Screwed up network recently, so u have to put Aeroplane Mode On n Off to refresh your network Also always chk that the LET sign is always on over ur network n there is no exclaimation mark.

  • I have been Using Nexus 5 for almost 2 years and now but recently its battery has started behaving crazy. It gets charged and discharged very fast as in i have to charge to mobile for 5- 6 times a day..understand there were some bugs with the software upgrade and I learnt from other Nexus 5 users that they are recently facing similar problems. Hope it gets resolved soon before i land up with another phone.

  • I have Lg Nexus 5 . I am trying to use Jio Sim . Internet is working perfect . but cant make call . so can you please tell me any solution . thanks

  • I have had this phone for 2 years now and still runs as the first day, a superb phone!

  • Best phone I ever owned! LG definitely went all out to produce this gem for Google!!! Specs were super high at release and still high now, ahead of its time! Better than their own phones! My wife and I have had ours running for 3 years not one single problem! Still Faster than any phone out there! Does not lag one bit! Has the latest OS, very light Google UI, battery still Ok, screen flawless – what more can I say? I own a cell shop and see all kinds of crap they're pumping out these days, this is premium quality!

  • Hi, Using Nexus 5 D820 model in Blore, india from past 3 yrs . But unable to use 4g network . So thinking of enabling it. Is it possible to root and use custom rom to get the band 3 enabled to get 4g working. Let me know if any solution.

  • I Love this Nexus 5. But i need to know, i cant use LTE network at Malaysia because im from Malaysia. Need reply from friends here and how to reolve it?. Thanks. 😀😀😀

  • Nexus 5 is still the best. Nexus phones are meant to be rooted. All the problems regarding battery life, performance are resolved. I will suggest to root your Nexus 5 and install a custom rom. You will get the androids latest updates.. including Android N plus better battery life and performance. That's what matters the most :)

  • Can you tell me that Nexus 5 hangs or not.

  • Unfortunately it is common for motherboards of these phones to fail. It happened to me :-(

  • No

  • You use flawlessly , because I am using 4g without problem mobile d820 32 GB ,just type in Google search lg d820 LTE band change XDA ,your phone must be rooted try that solution

  • Will Nexus 5 accept a Macro size SIM?

  • Download malwarebytes app from play store and run a full scan

  • hi...can anyone pls solve my issue..my nexus 5 has a problem of getting lot of advertisements while I use internet or wifi, it is from proxy server ..I want to get rid of this problem... my email:[email protected]

  • If you have only D821 model it will support Indian LTE bands. Since D820 is American model and it wont support 4G LTE in India.

  • of course you can Use 4G cellular data. you can switch to LTE mode by going to: settings/more/cellular networks/prefered network type. then set it as LTE. If the LTE Doesn't Show up,then go to dealer then type *#*#4636#*#* then a menu will show up,click on phone information, then scroll down to "set prefered network type" and set it as LTE. by this you'll force your phone to Switch to 4G. i hope i helped.

  • We are using Nexus 5 .we can't use 4G My question is a Nexus 5 support For 4G or not?

  • We won't be getting Nougat officially. It's not really something to worry about as most apps will be supported for at least another year.

  • Nexus 5X is newer than this so of course it will get the updates.. Only for one more year though. Considering its two years newer than this phone it still only has 2gb ram and it lacks wireless charging and optical image stabilisation. The battery is nothing to shout about either. Basically avoid the 5X as a much better 5inch nexus is coming this year with a flagship chipset. The original nexus 5 had a flagship grade chipset and the battery while not great is actually better than with kitkat. For me the 5X is definitely one to avoid as it's performance isn't great and will only get worse.

  • Do not buy it. The new updates make it a lot worse. The battery is absolutely horrible and will drain whether or not you use it, guaranteed. I made this mistake of buying the Nexus for its tempting price, but was shortly disappointed. It was a great phone, but the LG Nexus 5X is much better and fixes all the flaws of the Nexus 5X while getting support for Android Nougat and O. You can easily buy the 5X for $250 so thats quite the steal!

  • I have bought my nexus 5 yesterday, and i update to August update. Now, i feel my battery drains fast, which i really hate the most, i dont care the other bugs or malfunctioning issues, all i need is having a good battery life. So, please please google fix this battery issue.

  • Hello, I want to know if this phone is still worth to buy it. As I know Nexus 5 has a pretty bad battery, Does the marshmallow update solved the issue with battery drain? I want to buy some smartphone with normal battery and normal performance. The nexus 5 is good in performance, but battery life becomes problem. Can you give me some advise which smartphone to buy? Something with 5" on smaller display, with normal battery and camera. Also I'm not going to pay too much. Let's say, something like a budget phone(considering that nowadays Nexus 5 is pretty cheap to buy)

  • there's a simple trick to deal with Wifi download only. you can adjust the date to 19/08 then you can download it using Data network. Obiously,i couldn't download any security patch till the 18th,but this time i downloaded it on the 3rd.

  • My nexus battery is just gone after the Aug patch. Either the charging is becoming slow or the battery just goes out in a few hours. The sound issue has been resolved. But it has brought another frightening issue to the fore. Google is faltering, for sure.

  • Yesterday's update restored d sound of my mic..thanks Google..are we going to get update for d next android wich is nougat and when?

  • I didn't install the July update because it vanished for some reason. I can download the august one but WiFi only.

  • I'm not talking about Sound volume. i'm talking about Battery lifespan. how is the battery state after you installed August Security patch?

  • I can't comment on the audio problem because the July update didn't affect the sound on my N5.

  • what's new about it? how is the battery ? because despite the fact that july security patch Damaged my nexus 5 sound in video player, but it improved my batter lifespan.

  • Just received the August update. Bit strange that it is dated 5th August 2016. Baseband version: M8974A-2.0.50.2.29

  • According to the leak bro. It should get. It can handle android N

  • Mine too. Did you find a way to fix this issue?

  • So,Nexus 5 users i have some bad news for you and some good news too. The bad news which is Nexus 5 won't Get Android Nougat Officially! The Good News which is Better is That we'll get Android Nougat via custom roms Which are even better than Stock roms concerning Battery life and performance which matter the more :-)

  • Was it still under warranty when google refurbished you with a new phone?

  • my nexus speaker and mic are missfunctioning after the last sec update

  • this volume issue has nothing to do with volume widget or something like that. it's a July security patch level bug ! which google didn't fix yet. but we all hope it'll fix it next month.

  • Go to the Google Play Store and download 'Volume Control Widget' by Serkun. I did that when I found the volume too low on my N5. I don't know why it works but it does. Just place the widget on one of your screens and crank the sliders up to maximum.

  • love my nexus and never go for the sluggish so called flagships made by other manufactures. just Nexus.

  • Latest update ( security patch ) of naxus 5 damage my microphone and earphone. They are not working. I can say that they are die. Plz do something.

  • I have speaker volume to the max and it is still too low and I am not hard of hearing is there something I can do

  • My Nexus 5, 2013 is alive and kicking. Great smartphone.

  • This is very true, I own a nexus 5 too and let me tell you it never slows or lags unless there's a bug hogging down the system but it's as fast if not faster than the latest top end devices.

  • How are people finding this Nexus 5 for use with NetHunter? Looking for a phone to support N/H, and I see the Nexus models listed.

  • Let me know the average sot on Android Marshmallow

  • This is the 4th time I bought a Nexus 5 ! Even today high end cell phone cannot beat the Nexus 5 ! The speed the fluidity the simplicity of 5 is unbeatable ! Perhaps I think the best Android phone ever made !

  • First, everytime i'm stuck in emergency calls only. second, people complain to me that my phone is always off becuase of weak network signal. third,i barely catch LTE.my friend has a nexus 5 too.but,he uses LTE all the time.but for me everytime i turn to LTE Mode i stuck in emergency calls only

  • yes,I was facing same problem.check other sim in your phone or format phone.if it doesn't work, then go to service center.they will change motherboard.

  • Do any1 is facing network problem..?? coj i have gone thru many lg mobiles n i faced d same network problem agn n agn...

  • I have problem on internet access phone shows authentication problem. How to solve this problem.

  • I think Google play music is utilizing its wolfson DAC pretty well now than it came first out of the box. I may say it is comparable to the latest model boasting of HIFI DAC. I have Vivo V3 Max I can say it can stack up against it.

  • i send the feedback problem about camera bt till now i got no respond. its of LG NEXUS 5

  • What do you expect from a 2300 mAh to power a "5/1080p display? A Moto E 2nd gen has a 2390 mAh only needing to power a modest Snapdragon 410 and 4.5/540p display and it last maybe 2.5x longer. Both Nexus 4 and 5 have awful battery life as seen with the endurance rating here of 32hr and 38hr. Expect to kill 20-25% every hour when the screen is on. And it came from 2013, so degraded battery is already there. A "5 720p should be powered by a 2500 mAh minimum. For 1080p, should be 3000-3200 mAh minimum.

  • Did you contact Google directly about the issue?

  • Exactly,Only Disadvantage is not availability of Dual Sim..

  • you have no problem with the battery ??

  • i am also using Google Nexus 5 its really a beast running high end apps and games ultra smoothly i will recommend every one to go for nexus series because it serves better then Samsung apple htc moto etc.. stock android is really what everyone wants... and the best thing about it is that it has a reverse charging option too i have charged it through usb from another smartphone.. i am really feeling like a man with this device Google is really doing better.. No disappointments at all Just the best thing ever.

  • Really? That's interesting to know Google is still giving it's support to a 2 year old device.

  • I've had the phone for 2 years. It's been with me every day and has only ever had the odd issue. I got it with android 4.4 and after a few days got the Android 5 Update and the phone only got better. It performs superbly in all applications and the screen and camera are both great. After Upgrading to android 6, it's become even better again. No RAM Overhang anymore although the battery does seem to drain quicker than it used to but it still lasts a full 12 hours of use for me. The fact that in cost me £300 and it's not slowed down like my S2 did, makes it great value for money. I would not suggest buying one now as the Nexus 5X is available and i'm sure that will deliver the same joy and experience that mine has bought me. The fact that it's not slowed down after 2 years means i just don't know when it will quiet if it even will. This is a very reliable phone and can put an iPhone 6 to shame for it's age and price. I will continue to buy nexus phones as they don't get bricked and just last a long time whilst never losing their original performance.

  • Try using a different browser. Chrome is well known for being a battery drainer.

  • the same thing here i swear. for me 15% takes me 7%. and sometimes more than that, depending on what i'm using. if i'm typing on whatsapp or messenger it drains fast. whereas if i'm simply surffing it lasts longer. i don't know what to do. some told me to root it and undervolt or underclock it.

  • I'm using Marshmallow on Nexus 5. Only 15 minutes net browsing it takes 8% of battery charge. So much battery draining. What to do ? I need a good battery backup.

  • One of the best i've have ever used in my life! I bought my nexus 5 on 27/03/2014! On the 24/09/2015, i had the first problem, Power Button stuck. Then google gave me a new mobile (Refurbished), but it came brand new. Yesterday i've face a new problem, microphone stop working. I Called again google, and they sent me a new one again. The battery problem, in my opinion is a common problem of OS upgrade.

  • Go to Settings/Display and turn OFF the option 'Press power button twice for camera'.

  • Facing the problem of the camera turning on when pressing the phone lock button on the side...happening intermittently....will be grateful for any ideas how to solve the issue

  • Yes, it does.

  • but i should i only Root my phone? or i'll have to install that custom rom that called pure nexus rom as well ?

  • Rooting it helps. I finally decided to root and never turned back. My battery lasts now about 7.5 hours of on and off uses with occasional Spotify and youtubing. I'm running pure nexus ROM. Before my battery drained after 4 hours of fully charged and barely using with just mostly texting.

  • Since I rooted my phone it solved the massive battery drain. It could be the google connectivity services but I tried every avenues until in the end I decided to root it and run it on pure nexus ROM. Now I get at least 7.5 hours of battery use when using it on and off . but standby it lasts longer. I haven't kept up with the time.

  • I had this happen to mine. It ended up needing a mainboard replaced. But to be fair I was in the the tropics and going from a very cold hotel room straight out into a hot humid environment. I think this caused condensation on the board. Lucky it was under warranty. Besides that I love this phone. I have used it for 2 1/2 years and it is still fast and the screen is great. I also have not had any issues with battery life. Still good for a full day and evening of use.

  • does it update to android m or even android n?

  • no

  • Battery drain is really a pain in the ass. thought that i get 3 hrs of screen on time. but my battery seems to drain fast when data is on,it loses 1% per 2/3 minutes. as for the stuck in power button, honnestly i never had this problem or heard about it before.

  • How the battery life performance? Will this phone get Android N?

  • Get your nexus 5 power button check, i face the same issue.

  • LG Nexus 5 has TWO SERIOUS problems. 1) Battery Drain - and nothing helps! 2) Power button stuck in - the device is rebooting all the time. You will need a replacement. My experience includes 2 devices owned by myself and 1 device by my wife. I like Nexus as an idea for a clean OS phone, but in fact it's a pain in the @$$.

  • I have had this phone for a couple of years, I like it very much, but since a few days ago it started showing the reboot screen and turn off no matter what I answer This afternoon started rebooting constantly for an hour, until I clicked on the power button repeatedly (I saw the fixx on youtube) then it started ok, but i think this will happen again soon The same thing happened to my wife's phone a few months ago but hers never recovered does anybody knows how to fix this?

  • itz a superb phone....

  • yeah.you're right. nexus 5 doesn't hang. i have a white nexus 5 32gb version. i'll confess it hangs 1time a week for about 3 sec then disappear.

  • The phone doesn't hang like the previous person said who decided to say it twice with 2 different usernames..troll.

  • nexus 5 lg mobile hanging, how to solve the problem please reply

  • why the phone hanging, how the resolve the problem

  • Using from past 2 years+ and apart from average camera, battry life and slightly washed out display, everything is top notch even by todays standards. Performance is right up there and handles marshmallow like a champ. Super ram management, games work nice. Marshmallow camera is really fast and snapy. Rocking device :D only if battery life was slightly better. Nevertheless lasts an entire day anyways with medium use.

  • @ gaurav The problem is with your supplier, not with your phone. Contact airtel customer service.

  • It is not supporting airtel sim .. Why??

  • Best phone i ever had! Fast, Fluid and Lag free experience.

  • network problem occurs in Nexus 5.it does not show any network even I changed sim, format phone.

  • at first you just pull down the notification bar then u will see a setting option just click it for 5sec you ui will be start on your phone

  • yes it support otg

  • The best mid-phone I ever had...

  • Best phone but 3g problem help me....

  • Hey, I have a 16GB Nexus 5 and I find that it drains pretty quickly when I am playing with Apps, but it does decently if just scrolling through the web. However, if I leave my house with it fully charged and go hiking or go spend a day doing whatever, it always lasts the whole day with power to spare, but if I plan on wasting time playing games on it at work or anywhere else, then I make sure I have a way to charge it half way through the day. But still a great working phone, I really like it, have had it for two years.

  • how is your battery life ? and how screen on time do you get ?? and does your phone drains fast when data is enabled? thank you. i have a nexus 5 32gb version. my battery drains fast particularly when data is enabled.

  • Best phone. It works so smoothly and i simply love my nexus5 .

  • I just purchased a nexus 5, but I can't get It to charge? Can someone help? Bernie

  • yes my mother board died with in one and half year and i got it replaced for like 9000 and now after 2 months its battery died

  • Friend I don't know y u r so un happy if some one will ask me I m most satisfied person from my Nexus 5

  • Nexus 5 is one of the worst phones I have used. One of my close friend asked me to use it for a week. Honestly it is the the most pathetic "smartphone" I have used. Go from r Samsung or iPhone, but never use Google Nexus.

  • Happens if you jump from a newer version of android to older and than back to newer. I jumped from lolipop to kitkat and back to lollipop and no updates were installed. I recommend you to download latest factory image and flash it on your device. Worked for me. Hope if helps. Check youtube for flashing methods.

  • Ur Nexus 5 motherboard dead??

  • In Google play store app are not getting download, it shows download pending, wht to do?

  • I'm also facing same problem

  • Use es file explorer, you should be OK

  • Same problem. Anyone?

  • Yes ,nexus 5 support otg.

  • Hi. Does Nexus 5 support USB OTG..

  • I downloaded March security patch, But when i Upgrade it. It says ERROR..any Idea guys.Last time i have this issue on upgrading to marshmallow so I Downgrade it to 5.0 to a Technician then upgrade to marshmallow so it works..Now the issue again is the security patch.

  • I don't have any issue about other charger that i use to my Nexus 5.i use CherryM charger or starM charger.

  • How come the Flash IC in motherboard get damaged?? Anyone know the reason it would be helpful

  • My nexus 5 got ui system and it doesn't work,I did reset factory two times but it becomes worse, please someone help me,thanks

  • I want to know how did it happen. Bcoz my motherboard is also dead. Have u ever been charged it with a non stock charger??

  • Have u ever been charged ur Nexus 5 with non stock charger?? Do u often turn off ur phone at night. Let me know ur using habit bcoz my nexus 5 got board complaint.

  • Have been using Nexus 5 for the last two years, still very good battery service, I love this phone, one of the best of all times.

  • I don't think it is Nexus 5 fault because I have 5x and cannot prove it but battery draining quicker. Lets say by 7pm my battery is about 10% on 5x which is my emergency level after April security patch it is now 10% just after 5pm.

  • It's just bcoz of ur power button. LG authorised service centre will change it for below Rs.300 (In India)

  • Never buy nexus 5, I have restarting complaint. I totally messed up.. just search nexus 5 restarting in google, you will find out problems of nexus user.

  • 3 days ago i recieved the Android security patch level of april. my nexus 5 battery is still draing the same as before. i don't really know what i'm gonna do about this. i will have to buy a newer battery. can anyone here suggest me any solution apart from reseting the hanset and wiping cashe partition ?

  • How did it happen?? Have u charged it with a non stock charger?? Or did if fell down??

  • Same happened to me also. LG smartphones are with cheaper hardware.

  • Yes

  • my nexus 5 decided to die on me suddenly! apparently the motherboard is damaged and the 'bloody' thing costs more to repair than if one had to buy a new phone! why should a perfectly good instrument die on you without warning? I DO NOT ADVICE GETTING THIS BRAND OF PHONE TO ANYBODY!

  • I also have N5 and I think it still a great phone. If you want more system updates you should take N5X or 2016 HTC N5. KitKat -> Lolipop -> Marshmallow = Lots of updates Maybe this phone won't get more than 2016 Android N :-( ( for Android N update maybe Cyanogenmod gonna help)

  • This is by far the best gadget I have ever used. But I am a bit bored of the design after two years and 5x is pretty much the same. Can't seem to like any other phone after true android awesomeness. Any suggestions for next phone?

  • Tried to do the latest update but battery drained out Midway. Now the phone is not turning on again after charging the battery. It keeps saying no command. What do I do to get my phone back working?

  • No the factory reset fixed only the Emergency calls only problem,it didn't fix my battery draining. i guess my battery needs to be calibrated. i tried many times to calibrate it but didn't succed.

  • Front camera has some issues mainly with trusted face stops working when the issue arise. Worst case is when you need to take a quick shot and the camera is not responding, too much time to reset. Said that, mostly a great phone, price, weight and smooth experience so far... Lastly, it felt down from upstairs (it has a plastic bumper case) and it passed without issue.

  • For battery issues, if it is draining faster, you can delete unnecessary apps....i was so fed up of its battery backup for a month.....but when i deleted unwanted apps...it is working perfectly fine and i can use it for atleast 20-24 hrs on wi-fi and 3g.....

  • I have same problem

  • Front camera not working after marshmallow update After restarting works for a little time Need help

  • Same problem with me

  • so that fixed your drain? just factory reset?

  • One of the best phones ever! Together with Android 6 a poem!

  • I´ve been using my Nexus5 for 2 years now and very satisfied with it. I rooted it, but left the original os. I think It´s time to upgrade to M, because my phone is still runs 4.4.4...

  • i have the same problem. the battery is draining fast. i did wiped the cashe partition and unchecked the auto scanning of wifi but still the same. i had the ''emergency calls only'' (no service) message for 24 hour. it was such a black day. i did a factory reset and that fixed the problem. i hope that Android N update Covers Nexus 5 we still need an update to fix the weak cellular network signal and the battery problem.

  • The Nexus 5 is, in my opinion, still one of the best phones (dated April 5, 2016). I have the iPhone 6S, the Moto X 2nd Gen, the Galaxy S4 in my arsenal, and find that the Nexus 5 just a fast (if not faster) than the new iPhone 6S, and with Marshmellow on the device, it is by far the best OS today. LG knocked this one out of the park.

  • A good set, good pricing too

  • nexus 5 is much more snapier and fater than 5x and with 6.0 its battery life has been improved

  • Since the nexus 5 is based on the G2 it's like saying that the G2 is a POS too! The nexus 5 was a flagship killer and it's a a pure android experience provided directly by google itself. Why the LG G2 doesn't get even marshmallow it's because it's LG related, you're lucky you're on Lollipop 5.0.2, not even the latest version of lollipop is available on that phone. I'm a happy nexus 5 owner and it's design is far prettier than LG's smartphones by far...

  • F U lg, Why this POS gets 6.0 and where is the damn update for g2??

  • hi all ,What is better Nexus 5 or 5X

  • bro, you might have gotten a deader

  • Serious battery problems . . . drains heavily all the time . . . and almost always shows 'no sim card, no service' and cuts off all service for no reason 20 times a day . . it's garbage

  • The display of my nexus 5 phone moving ups and down by itself,i can't do anything. Is it a problem for system upgrade or anything else? Please help me out.....

  • marola

  • they have reported that it will be released in the third quarter of this year. but,Only for Some nexus devices like 5x,6,6p,and nexus player. The developers are still testing Android N on nexus 5 so as to see if it will handle it or not as it is an old handset with low specs.

  • I've read somewhere this: "Google's Git repositories has revealed that the developers are testing the Android N for LG Nexus 5. This was confirmed when Hammerhead (codename of Nexus 5) tagged with Android N Preview 1 was found in the repositories of Google Git."

  • Long press and slide up to 'Remove' at the top of the screen.

  • As it is said in the other 2 comments. Cameras are decent, the phone supports OTG without any other application if you have Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. I'm not sure the battery is going to last a whole day if you are a heavy user, since it's a small battery for a big processor and Full HD screen.

  • how to remove duplicate icon in homescreen

  • Rear camera takes decent pictures, the quality is good, been using it for 2 years - no complaints so far. Yes, Nexus 5 supports OTG with apps like ES File Explorer.

  • Both cameras are decent(not good or not bad) &panaroma is very good.but if you are heavy user then you will face battery problem.beside this, this phone is very good in gaming.i agree with this phone.

  • Plese tell me frnd howz is camera rear and back it does support otg and i am havier user mobile can i buy

  • No news as of now. Not sure if we will get it in the first place. You may have to rely on custom Roms. Google is still working on developer preview for Nexus 5. If we see a developer preview soon then we might get Android n.

  • when we are getting the android n in the nexus 5 ?

  • Nexus 5 user here. Been using it as my main phone since launch. I dislike where Google is going with the Nexus devices. As you mentioned, it seems they are aiming for bigger phones. 5X is not worth upgrading for due to the relatively small difference in specs. I guess Nexus isn't for me anymore, going to pick up Galaxy S7, which is going to be my first Samsung phone. Maybe I won't get the updates quickly but that's better than the current Nexus lineup IMO.

  • Everything is good but I think if there is card slot then it would more better.

  • I understand your problem, going through the same thing, will still go for 5x, or will try ios as they get 5 yr of update service, just look at 4s,running ios 9.2. If Nexus 5 gets N, will use it for another year, if it doesn't, then will apply cynogen for android N. Win win situation.

  • Same here. I am sat in my work office looking through phones and cannot find anything that realistically trumps the Nexus 5. I guess I am just going to wait until further in the year and hope LG release one of these new flexible screen phones or w.e :(

  • @ James79 I jumped ship a month ago. Like you, I realised that the Nexus 5 was near the end of it's shelf life. I bought a Motorola Moto X Force from CPW when they had it on sale for £299.99 and haven't looked back since.

  • It finally looks like I'm going to have to replace my beloved nexus 5 as it isn't getting the android N preview making it very unlikely that it will ever get it. Problem is I don't know what phone to get as the nexus 6 and 6p are too big, 5x has only 2gb ram and isn't much better than this and one plus runs oxygen OS so I really am stuck. I don't want to do flashing either. Any suggestions anyone or @freefaller?

  • Lol... And iPhone isn't a company either.

  • @ hamad khalid What's a 'Matrolla'? I've never heard of it?

  • The top companies in mobile is iphone samsung matrolla and huawei in my experience

  • Guys any body tell mi google nexus 5 is best or moto.x 2nd generation i am totally confused

  • I got my nexus5 rooted (second hand) and because of that it didn't update - I had to do updates manually. I didn't like that so I downloaded stock rom, user Nexus root toolkit and installed stock rom, without any problem. Now it works perfectly. Find some tutorial how to use it.

  • My nexus 5 was also weak with battery. Not extremely, but one full day without a charging was the record. And without any serious usage. But after I got update to Android 6 that changes noticeable. Battery life is much better now.

  • Battery drain is a serious problem. The phone functions with Marshmallow is really good. Good camera but battery drain is a serious problem. Not all locations are supported. If you buy from US, now where else can repair it.

  • Try the Googles Messenger App from the Play Store. It just does SMS nothing more.

  • Hello nexus. How can I set my sms to default messaging? I don't want to use hang outs as my sms app. Thanks in advance.

  • I am very satisfied with this phone.it is cheap but its performance is amazing.

  • Hi Frnds, I got Nexus 5 from US. And it has come with 4.4.4 version , it had prompted for update and i down loaded the patch and which installing it is giving error. I tried by Restore by using power and volume buttons. so, please help me ...

  • Are you kidding me? Oneplus one is way better than nexus 5. The End!

  • You've got a problem in your Power button. You should either Replace it or Do something about it ?

  • Its been more than 2 years, i love it. I went to shops and searched for a better device in a mid range price but realised that nexus 5 is still better than most of the new mid rangers. Going to stick with it till any compelling phone gets my attention(moto g4 may be)!.

  • When i touch power my phone rests

  • I agree. I went to a shop looking at the latest phones and none of them are worth getting as my nexus 5 is almost as good. I will only replace it when the software updates finish.

  • It is way better than SAmsung s4 for me. It has the lattest Android update.moreover A Fast System Ui. as to the camera,it is awesome as well,it has the lattest Google camera. Concerning Volte services i don't really Get what you point to ! illustrate your words So i may See what you mean :-)

  • guys suggest me whether i purchase this phone or not? will it supports VOLTE services? how is the camera performance?

  • I bought this phone back in Jun '14. Still going good. Battery is weak and is a known fact and is to varying degrees with most phones - I carry a power bank with me and that fixes most worries. No point buying this anew now, but those who already have it, definitely recommend sticking to it. Have seen newer shinier phones coming up and they do every other day. But this phone still does everything that any latest one can. - Happy Nexus 5 owner

  • Bought it 2 years ago - or works perfectly, or not at all - now 2nd time in service :)

  • what do you exactly point to ? do you point to Demanding another update from Google like 6.1.1 ?!!

  • Hey Pls chabge the look of marshmallow... Change the notification bar...vew nd all...is it marshmallow yr...so pls chabge all...i req u..

  • They lie.... a bootloop is a easy fix for someone in the know..... Takes about half an hour. Take the phone somewhere more reputable.

  • I absolutely loved this phone! Dropped it at a height of less than 3 feet straight to the ground (Google case on) where it absolutely shattered the screen...rip baby 06/25/15. The only issues I ever had was occasional heat up when heavily multitasking. That was so last year, I've moved on now and recently purchased a new device that I'm incredibly happy with. Xiaomi mi4c

  • nexus 5 owners seem to come in 2 camps, love 'em or hate em. I love mine, had it about a year and get excited when the os updates [now marshmallow]. ok could have a better battery but my daughters iPhone 6 seems perpetually on charge and my work colleagues latest Samsung as well so I think its down to how much ya gonna use it during the day. my battery does ok unless I'm clicking away with the camera or lots of editing, otherwise my fave phone to date and i'll be hanging on to it a while longer.

  • @ Shomby Why are you blaming the phone? It is obvious that you are not the first owner of that phone/ If you were told that it was new then you were lied to.

  • I bought my Nexus 5 on the recommendation of a Wind agent from Google. Last time I do that! so many problems with it over heating so many times during the day. I need to charge the battery 2- 3 times a day and I don't have much open. I use the camera, don't play games but it still loses power. There is no return policy that I can see nor much help for problems. After one of the updates I has someone accessing my phone whenever it was on charge. I put in password and could see them moving around trying to access it. My phone calls people from my contacts at various times when I put it away or on the counter. Now it won't let me download pictures to my laptop. Would not recommend this phone to anyone except my enemies!!!

  • It dosent come with a headset....

  • You damage the phone don't do what the troll say

  • Would be a great phone if it worked. Think I just got a poor one. Within 6 months the speaker stopped working. Carphone warehouse had it repaired. Now 2 yrs old & speakers have stopped working again. Accelerometer stopped working 6 months ago. Note- I've tried all the software fixes & this is def hardware. Also I look after my phones. The phone still looks almost brand new.

  • Hey guys! I just purchased a brand new Nexus5x. The moment i just unpacked it, i was shocked to see headset missing! Just the handset,type-C cable and Adapter! Whereas the headset/handsfree is also not mentioned on the official google website! But the problem occurs when i saw the videos of nexus5x unpacking including the headset/handsfree! Can anyone clear my point or guide me with this? Kindly!

  • For those who have their phone turning on and off you have to bang your phone hard on the side of the power button, don't be afraid just do it!!!

  • love it. great phone.

  • why you switched to Samsung

  • I just upgraded from Nexus 5 to Galaxy s6 and so far not much impressed from my new phone. Except for the camera, there's absolutely no reason to buy a presumably better phone. I was in love with my Nexus 5, the best package ever as regards a phone. If someone is considering buying a new phone, go for Nexus 5x or 6p (that may be too large though).

  • Its is a simple issue with the power button... Cleaning the button with a cleaning solution should help. I had the same issue with my Nexus 5 a week ago and got it fixed... If anyone tells you to replace the motherboard, Please do not trust them, Try with different technician.

  • I have got Android 6.0.1 ota update last month. After 2 days my Nexus 5 is in Boot animation. The horrible thing happened after 10 days of my warranty expired. I am still able to access boot loader. After inspection from LG service centre I was told that the Motherboard need to be replaced and it'll cost ₹ 12000. This was the 2nd time the motherboard got same problem. 1st time it happened after Lollipop update but the board was replaced that time because it was under warranty. Worst experience from Google and LG. Don't be cheated by them by taking Nexus series.

  • Still running like a beast since i bought it on feb 2014, except the poor battery(had been changed 2 new batteries), everything goes excellent.

  • Panic!

  • It is no doubt high end phone with superb functions. Only prblem i faced is cellular coverage isnt good. When my other mobile is giving good cellular coverage nexus 5 shows good coverage but actually i cant even call. Is tr any solution for this problem?

  • That's not true !! i guarante one thing ! nexus series were manufactured and Sponsored by google(Android Os inventor) thats why they get any newer update firstly. Another thing Nexus 4 had his last update which is Lollipop 5.1.1 nexus 5 got Marshmallow 6.0.1 as well as nexus 6.and soonely Nexus 5x and 6 may get another newer Android version. the same thing for Samsung handsets like s5,s6,note3,note4,and note5. They get it Lately cuz they are manufactured by samsung.

  • The NeXus series is the best phones for Hi-end perfomence I'm a NeXus Fan..

  • Not sure, but I think nexus 5 is very popular device so I hope nexus 5 will get android n atleast.

  • Is that true that the nexus mobiles will get the update always and indefinetily

  • No doubt.it is good phone.you can buy it.but you may go for nexus 5x.

  • If possible dont go for any of those. Because nexus 5 ( still good) is 2 yrs old now. If possible buy something new or recent release.( one plus x ex.) But if you are stuck in above those choices definitely nexus 5.

  • i had a same issue. however it got sorted out all you need to do is just change your power button. it will take hardly 15mins in a LG Service center. it coasted me 350/- INR

  • I'm planning to purchase this phone. the matter is that i read some comments here comlaining about some bugs and problems. could anyone here tell me what should i buy either samsung grand prime or Nexus 5 ?

  • Dont buy this product, Its worst, It will easily brokable display where u cant replace one easily. If u go for the LG service center for replaceing new display, They will tell u this, Sir this mobile board is too complicated one, If anything will happen pls dont blame us,.,, Worst one frds,

  • anyway of getting 4G LTE with my LG Nexus 5 D820 (US Version )?

  • power button problem..... even after replacing........... help me...

  • power button is horrible when i touch the power button it keeps restarating

  • Turn off WiFi scanning. Go into >Settings>Location> 3 dots upper right hand corner (don't know a better name lol)> Scanning> uncheck WiFi scanning. Makes a pretty big difference in battery. Running android 6.0.1.

  • Does it support volte ?

  • Does it support volte ?

  • true happened with me..power button then motherboard...slow death

  • Have had this phone for about 2 years. It's awesome in terms of multitasking and speed. For the price it's always been a good deal. Battery sucks though. I have to charge it by about noon. (i am a heavy user). And you can get nice photos with the rear camera if the lighting is right, but it is slow to snap. (granted the current update to the camera app has been a huge improvement).

  • Its irritating to see devices like this graded and/or classified by the "user(s) of last resort." In a market littered with Flagships releases every 6 months, LG Nexus 5 (aka HAMMERHEAD) has become a staple device for many Android Developers. Furthermore; given the outlook of pending '16 & '17 releases, do yourself a favor and find one then explore the possibilities for yourself. In contradiction to users with power issues, I'm running 6.x.x and going into day 4 of standby testing and looks as if I'll at least tack on another 24hrs. Power consumption has little to do with hardware and more to do with the stock Google bloatware and 600 Play store applications you have weighing down the environment.

  • Standby time can now be classed as good on Marshmallow 6.0. However when heavy using and gaming battery will only last 3hours max. Nothing really wrong with the display unless you're after a true flagship grade screen.

  • Dont ever buy this phone., The display is very light and I have changed my display 3 times. Buy it when you are a light user

  • I have a nexus 5 and the battery life for me does not last for the whole day, I honestly would like it to last more time on heavy use. But it's depend on what you do with the phone, with the android 5.0 marshmallow the life time has extended on idle usage.

  • how about its battery can some tell me a honest review about is battery

  • Does it support volte feature??

  • i dont use viber.

  • i dont use viber.

  • hi there, i am having issue with google maps on my NEXUS 5. Everytime i search a destination address on maps, its shows the destination but the navigation never starts, so when i start navigation, the device looses its GPS signal, thus navigation pointer doesn't moves with the car. It may catch signal at times but most of the times pointer goes off route and shows my present location at wrong place. Am i the only one having this kind of problem? I got my phone replaced 3 times due to same problem but the problem hasn't resolved yet. Help me out guys. Thanks

  • If you use Viber, check Wi-Fi sleep policy.

  • Wifi is draining my battery approx 40% even after reset phone. What should i do?

  • Put it in recovery mode and wipe the system cache. Mine was setting off the Google search voice assistant every time I plugged in a pair of headphones until I wiped the cache.

  • Change the camera app as I took some excellent photos at the sealife centre in Blackpool.

  • try tablet chargers. i tried and tested. charges for 2 hours. and battery last up to 2days

  • It's probably your charger. Since the phone isnt that old. Try using another charger first.

  • I bought it from ebay.

  • dear do not use usb charger use built-in wire charger & check result...I suggest you to use orignal Samsung built-in wire charger (not usb) and check result. Thanx

  • where did you buy the original battery?

  • Guys , help me out. My nexus 5 is charging for so long time and the battery drains very fast. I am currently upgraded my phone to marshmallow. Do I need to downgrade it or buy a new battery ? I bought the phone on 7.7.2014.

  • which Software are you using ? still lollipop or marshmallow?

  • Worst camera I have ever seen on a mobile. It is literally impossible to have a picture not blurred if light is a bit low. The auto focus doesn’t work. I had this mobile for 3 months. I wish I could send it back

  • after i upgraded to android M my head set port was stopped working as well as my battery drain like anything..please tell me some solution are is ther any possiblity to downgrade to lolipop

  • Update via ADB

  • What if I told you, you could buy an external battery case it could more than double your battery, N5 is still better specs wise

  • VPN application not working

  • Well I'm very sorry but mine is working better than ever. I hammer mine with online gaming and probably charge it 3 times a day every day...all hardware is perfect and the battery is still fine which is exceptional considering the heavy use its had for the past 22 months.

  • Phone call cannot be hear through headphone , can hear only through speaker phone. How to correct.

  • When I get a call ringing tone cannot be hear unless speaker phone switched on and incomingcall also hear only from speaker phone.Pl.instruct me how to correct.

  • Nexus 5 has been a good phone for me since November 2013. I just replaced the original battery myself, and now it's as good as new. I was tempted by some recent half-off original price offers I saw for new Nexus 5's. But the new battery fixed everything, and I hope it stays usable for another two years.

  • Sorry, but my Nexus 5 has double life battery with Marshmallow's update. Try to wipe data/factory restore...

  • In all honesty, this is a great device in its own right. Its fast, responsive and it basically gets the job done. If you are into gaming or running intense apps then this phone won't disappoint. But before getting this phone you have to weigh your trade-offs with what you want from a smartphone. If you aren't concerned with battery life, expandable storage and want Google's purest Android experience then this device is a great option. I owned this device for a while now but its many trade-offs can serve as a constant reminder of how careful you should be with the decisions you make. Regards...

  • i don't want to spread any rumours about android 6.0.1,bt i realized that After updating to 6.0.1,Bettry draining very fastly nd mobile is charging slowly as compared to android 6.0

  • Don't buy nexus 5 phone.every nexus phone is getting hardware problem.the cost is 8500

  • How 2 save battery life...please give me a suggestion..

  • Scroll top bar downwards and select USB sharing files and transfer. Your mode is charging

  • Really Really good. Now that the prices have reduced its definitely worth it. Using since May 2014 and touchwood there hasnt been a problem yet. Best updates & fast and the camera is also good enough, unlike complained by many. I love phone.

  • Been using nexus 5 for 2 years already. havent got any problem. have dropped the phone for tons of times, got it wet so many times, but it still works 100%. i highly recommend this phone. but, if you had problem with the phone, it is maybe because of how you used it or maybe ther is something wrong with your nexus 5, because if your nexus 5 is like everyone else's nexus 5, then your nexus 5 would still be working incredibly great even after 2 years.

  • @james79 Same with me; I haven't had one single problem with my N5 since I purchased it in November 2013.

  • Probably somone like me who's had there's for nearly 2 years without any major hardware problems.

  • Excellent phone...superb hardware...well built...good picture quality... battery life is not good Still excellent phone , i liked it....

  • Honestly speaking,I love my phone and I am so much careful about it.I was really happy with my phone. But now it has screen out problem.I clear my cache several times. But still it be same. The phone is completely on work but the screen is black and I can't see anything even 5 to 6 hours. Can you imagine it?I brought it only 1 year ago and now I am going to think that who told me to buy this rubbish....

  • I have already updated on marshmallow with the factory image google uploaded.

  • Are u nuts. I m using nexus since last year. No problems till now i rooted it installed many roms but still not its good.

  • Got it around 5pm yesterday so I don't know lol.

  • I got this phone since KitKat ver and its now on marshmallow 6.1 I highly recommended this phone

  • @james79 Just downloaded v6.0.1 (UK). Did I beat you this time?

  • I have been using this for almost 2 years and it still works like champ. Power button is still on its place and works well. Camera is just mediocre and front camera is a joke. Apart from camera, poor battry life, tiny speaker i have absolutly no complaints. Marshmallow runs better than nexus 5x on nexus 5. Also this device has better chances of receiving next Android version than any other non nexus devices. Even if google doesn't support the next update, its a nexus. There are tons of developers, cm etc that will make a custom rom for it... A must go..if you cant afford 5x or 6p. :)

  • It is such a phone i had ever enjoyed It is slim easy to move, have profile options which is cool. I like this

  • Too many problems the phone processor is the only thing which is good as it works in a good speed but too many problems with the hardware first the power switch will stop working and then slowly your motherboard will die

  • Marshmallows 6.0.1 update will reach nexus 5 with an security update India on Dec 13th

  • @ thedoctor Don't blame your phone, it's one of the apps on it that is doing that.

  • Among a few problems, the worst is how my phone randomly calls people from the contact list, and it will not let me stop the call. I am not talking pocket dialling. The phone can be off and lying on a table, and it just turns on and calls. Very frustrating.

  • My Nexus5 hardware failure failed twice in a year. First the wifi died and Google send me another one. Then within a month, the cheap plastic power button not functioning. Now I got Oneplus X, the phone is much much superior and sturdier than Nexus5 in performance, display, hardware buttons...

  • I use this phone for over a year now. i must say i recommend it to anyone even today with all these competition this still has the power to catch up. battery is fine for me, it works like butter, camera is awesome. i have no words. just awesome phone with latest android.

  • I personally took the effort to find a page where I can post a review about this piece of crap. It's an entirely useless phone with an even worse customer assistance . And if someone is buying with the name of Google please don't be fooled they won't ever help you back. It has plethora of issues and without any explanations . please if this review helps you in not buying this crap I will be at peace. Save your money and your peace in life and invest in some other high end phone .

  • Battery life and over heating issues

  • No. Front camera sucks especially compared to latest phones.

  • Nice phone...superb hardware...well built...good picture quality... But...worst front camera...suck battery life... There is lot of other options in the market in this range....

  • change the on off button,

  • any fix for the battery life ?

  • Such a worst phone i have ever seen in this planet.worked smoothly for one year & now two of my nexus 5 are down & it keep restarting .Here after, dont decide to buy a google product any cost.

  • I've had my Nexus 5 for about a year now. Device is fully up to date. I run minimal apps to save battery power. I woke up this morning at 7am, unplugged my phone with a "full" charge. It's now 1:15pm and I have 9% & "Power Saver" on. What have I been doing all morning? Watching full length films perhaps? No. Listening to music for about 2 hours at school with the screen OFF, and WiFi OFF. In the last month or so since the OS update my phones been complete garbage. Which is sad because it look great and performed very well for the first year. I wouldn't recommend this phone, unless you're really on a budget or don't use apps.

  • Don't waste ur money!!! Only good for Year after which it's utterly useless!! What use is a phone if it doesn't stay even with full battery??

  • Why though?

  • Nexus 5 with the Marshmallow update has become a beast. It still stands out as a sensible buy with prices ranging from $200~$250. Better than One Plux X, Mi4, etc.

  • I had this phone for 4 days returned it for refund. Best decision I have made :)

  • Hi and what is battery line now?

  • Worst Phone I experienced ever Dude you might have seen many reviews which says good abt Nexus 5. But i would say it is worst phone over whole planet. It would be good till 1 year. After that you will left with only option to throw it on shit.

  • Hi, guys My phone Nexus 5 screen shakes after the updates 6.0. Perhaps would need a reset, what do you think?

  • This phone has very good specs and design till today and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. this is my 3rd Nexus phone

  • Great phone. Yes, now "new" in 2013 but I bought it two months ago. Running marshmallow which solved battery life issues. Have case and screen protector. Didn't down load many apps, just basics. Fast on ptel, $40.00 per month unlimited LTE talk and message. Excellent value at 200.00 or less. Just bought a second one for wife. We replaced two LG 710 and 705 phones. Buying two year old tech but runs latest Android, marshmallow!

  • My phone simply died and is not over 1 year old ... bad phone do not recomend it

  • The phone looks really nice and when it works is a nice machine. but.... you wont believe all the problems this phone has and the terrible warranty. The warranty expires after one year and then if your phone breaks you are done. Mine broke first after about 6 months, it was replaced with a refurbished one. Now the phone does not work about 1 and a half years and neither google or LG will do anything. I took it to two repiar places and they do not take this phone. Conclusion do not buy this piece of c.... check online forums with all the issues people are having with them

  • nice phone .....and awesome hard ware....value for money.

  • Is this phone have front camera good or not

  • I am having a severe proximity sensor issue It works only for 15 after restart Worst phone ever Even the Google is not interested in solving this problem Plz never buy this phone You will suffer like anything

  • the lack of expandable memory kills it..otherwise it performs very good

  • Great Phone, we can get latest update without any problem i updated from kitkat- lollipop-marshmallow all working fine without any problem, very fast only problem is lack of storage on 16 GB and Battery life , otherwise every thing best compare to samsung product no hanging or stuck problem at all .

  • 1st class phone don't hesitate to buy it .. . .

  • great phone no complaints, had it almost 2 years

  • An update you my phone yesterday deleted all my contacts and now I cannot get my messages. I am not impressed I will never buy this phone again

  • Only 2years upcoming updates. Hardware wise the s6 is far more future proofed than the 5x...faster ram and more of it and the most powerful chipset found in an android phone on sale today. The 5x is no flagship and shouldn't be compared with them really.

  • This is a great phone

  • I too have a Nexus 5 where I am facing the boot load problem and I have been informed that the mother board has gone bad. How many of you are facing the same problem?

  • Go for it.. Best phone. Better if you buy 32 GB version.

  • nexus 5x or samsung galaxy S6 , which will be better if both's price are close enough? 5x is a brand new phone with at least 2 years upcoming life time where as S6 has passed one year already from its service life time.

  • I have had a boot loop problem for months now and unable to solve it, through vendor or LG Anyone had this problem - seems to pop up on google when i checked with others but no solution yet.

  • i am planning to buy this phone is it still worth it & also does it lag

  • Hi! Good day. How can on/off the screen using double tapping?

  • "Android update waiting to download" error while updating security update(2.5mb).any suggestions?

  • James, this phone is 2 years old. It's a great phone.

  • It's sufficient for day to day use... However it's not sufficient when trying to run mortal combat X which has great graphics. Maybe a poorly optimised app but it generally only loads after doing a reboot. So basically unless your a hardcore mobile gamer its sufficient most of the time. If you are looking for a phone that you want to keep for 2 years then maybe go for one that's got 3gb ram.

  • No I don't have that issue. Phone automatically resets the time

  • Hi, every one. I have question. How i can upgrade to android 6.0. Install android 6.0 have problem. Android is died and show red error message "die".

  • Yes, my phone became a little slower with the update to 6.0 and it shouldn't be like that the phone was amazing in teh latest version of Android 5.x they should look for it.

  • Has anyone noted a problem with the time after upgrading to android m. It's like when on doze mode the system time pauses, therefore I have to restart the phone every time for it to read the actual time from network.

  • Has anyone noted a problem with the time after upgrading to android m. It's like when on doze mode the system time pauses, therefore I have to restart the phone every time for it to read the actual time from network.

  • Sure ;)

  • My phne battery life is very bad ....

  • I have had a Nexus 5 32 GB for 12 months and it has been very good, the Android updates are good (it upgraded to Marshmallow and 5.1 with no problems). The performance and screen are good but the battery life is not great and means that I end up running in battery saver mode, which does hit performance. The signal & performance on 4G is very good.

  • Hi guys. .i successfully downgraded to 5.1.1.don't upgrade to 6.0 .because it uses more battery power.it you wanna good battery life just downgrade to 5.1.1 .please note that the build number should be LMY48M.

  • Hi guys. .i successfully downgraded to 5.1.1.don't upgrade to 6.0 .because it uses more battery power.it you wanna good battery life just downgrade to 5.1.1 .please note that the build number should be LMY48M.

  • downgrade to 5.1.1 .i have successfully done.

  • After update do a reset.

  • It is a costly phone and have a 2 GB RAM. I want to ask that is such RAM is sufficient. I meant that now a days there are so many apps to install for ex. shopping apps, games and many different apps . these all take RAM memory. Because of which we can't install so many apps. So please give me answer that either a two GB RAM is sufficient or not?

  • WiFi not working after upgrade 5.1.1lollipop how to fix it

  • WiFi still only 6% after online gaming session.

  • WiFi using 2% of my battery.

  • 70 % wi fi using from my baterry after upgrade on 6.0 , hmmm :@:@:@

  • WiFi only using 1% battery on mine.

  • S. I'm also facing same issue

  • This fire fox version is old one and so it is not being updated, then it will come incompatible with your device.

  • Hi,after a software update it is necessary a reset for smooth working and many problems.

  • Guys with Android 6.0 update it has got battery drain bug because of Wi-fi If you are also facing the same issue, please post in below link so that developers will work on that Process to verify if you have this bug or not: 1. Go to Settings 2. Tap on Battery 3. Under 'Use since last full charge' section, see how much percentage Wi-Fi took If it's more than 5% then there is a bug with the OS that you have on your phone Below is the link

  • Can this nexus 5 has a features like double tapping screen to unlock screen?

  • I Have Been using this fabulous smartphone for almost 2 months now after selling my old Note 3 ,I have Android M installed and everything is perfect about except the battery life which is really poor but I have no problem with that since the performance is really great . I m not thinking about switching to another device right now ! If you have questions about the performance or you're not sure to buy it or not I m ready to help :)

  • Pls help me withi issue: The other person can hardly hear my voice when I speak without using headphone in my Nexux 5. The voice outgo through my nexus 5 is very limited and gets disrupted in between due to noise cancellation feature which sometimes blocks my voice considering the same a noise and therefore the other person can hardly hear my voice clearly. The service center claims they have repalces certain part but still the issue persists.I am really tired of repeating myself again and again. Is there any permanent solution for this issue or IF ANY EXTERNAL HARDWARE CAN BE INSTALLED FROM ANYWHERE ELSE.

  • Details are a bit off regarding the version of Android, as Android 6 "Marshmallow" is available for it officially.

  • I gave been enjoying my super FAST, reliable NEXUS 5 for 22 months now. Much better device than three Galaxys and one iPhone I used in the past. Yes, I have the Marshmallow and am happy tell you that I ordered the NEXUS 6P for a very good reason.

  • I am going to purchase LG Nexus. But I am still confused regarding iPhone 5, should I go for iPhone or Nexus 5. Kindly suggestions from all features regarding camera, battery backup, brand.

  • i upgrade my nexus 5 on android 6.0 but now charging is going slowly than 5.1, and everything else is TOP!

  • This mobile is really bad, I bought it around a couple of month ago, and now it doesn't work, I was always into Google as I thought they would be good, when I used it, it was initially good then, it just started doing some weird stuff, like restarting every minute and getting super hot. I didn't buy it from the US, when I called the customer center they told me they won't fix it because I didn't buy it from the US. It's a seriously bad mobile and customer cernter, frankly I would go do any other samsung or iphone to be safe.

  • Got Android 6.0 on my Nexus5 it is much faster and stable and battery consumption is 10% better, but a disastrous WiFi off connection that I didn't face once in last tow years, clear cache not available on all apps now. I was to excited about 5x due LG but no way with 2gb sounds too old and less screen view, Nexus6 Huawei seems perfect on paper but will I buy it ...NO.

  • I'm on T-Mobile in the US and received the 6.0 OTA upgrade at least a week or two ago. Works great but I'm switching to Project Fi and a 5X ;)

  • hello everyone.. after upgrade android version 6.0 i am facing clock issue .. it's automatically decrease time everyday .. no idea why it's happening ..i need to fixed clock time everyday it's too annoying ...why my clock time is not fixed ? is anyone facing same issue ? if anyone have solution please let me know ...pls pls ..

  • @Manoj Kapuganti The update only upgrades v5.1.1 to v6.0. As you already have v6.0 (developers edition) on your phone you won't receive the official update. You should have waited!

  • Yes I got the update

  • Brought a new nexus last week and it ran stock 4.4.4 out of the box. and within 24 hours of usage got OTA Android 6.0 update

  • Still I didn't got 6.0 final OTA update My phone running on Android 6.0-DEVELOPER PREVIEW-3 All you guys got the OTA update???

  • thank you paraeedhussain. let me try your step. i will inform you the result .

  • You must go to LG Servicing centre for any issues with your LG Nexus.

  • Hi,please any one can say this phone dectet GPS and glonass sattallites signals same time and this has a compass.

  • It took 15 seconds to connect to my WiFi on 2 tests. Although I can quite easily believe that it takes a minute plus as I had all sorts of problems connecting last night.

  • Mine works as normal.. Screen only goes off if you put the phone next to your ear and comes back on again when you remove it from your ear... Also goes off if on speakerphone requiring you to press power button.. Which could be a problem if you use power button to end call but I don't so no problems for me.

  • Please let me know where can i get original battery for my nexus 5 for better price.

  • If any problem occurs in Nexus 5, how do we do the servicing? I mean where is the service center?

  • Normally this problem comes with phones that purchased from out of India, if so I think there is nothing to do. If not sent an email to technical support of Google nexus 5 India

  • Hi,try this way. Open chrome browser ,in Google search box type "Google play services update" search and see the emblem of Google play store tap on this this will bring you to Google play store ,there see for the update and tap here.

  • I have also found that my WiFi, which used to connect instantly at home, can now take up to a minute to find the router which is sitting two feet away from the phone. Every new version of Android seems to be getting worse than the last one. KitKat was better than Lollipop, and Lollipop is better than Marshmallow.

  • I also have the problem of a BLANK screen when making a call. The weird thing is that if you hold the phone in front of your face and you are looking at it then the dial screen lights up; but as soon as you move it away from your face again the screen goes blank again. The solution of pressing the POWER button once to light the screen shows that something is wrong in Marshmallow for it to act this way.

  • Not really facing any issues in Marshmallow now. I uninstalled the Google app updates and Now on tap works. App cache cleaners no longer work so to clear the cache you gotta go to internal storage and select app cached data and clean all from there. The up and down scrolling app menu is perfect and fluid. When playing games and getting a call you can still hear the game music in the background like on lollipop.. That is one bit of multitasking I could do without lol. Battery life is still poor.

  • Facing the same problem . use power button twice to light up the screen.

  • mine is not. in fact, i tried it right after i read your post. i made a phone call from my desk, answered it, and the screen turned on when i moved it away from my ear for a few centimeters. maybe your top left screen sensor get oily or dirty. because when that sensor do not receive any light, it makes your screen go off.

  • Any solution for this ??? I too have got same problem..

  • yes i to have the same problem after updating to android 6.0.....if u get any solution means let me know to [email protected]

  • Does anyone have this problem where the screen doesn't turn itself on during a call ? Or it turns on after about 1.5 secs ? Any fixes to this ?

  • Unable to access 4G Reliance SIM ... Can any1 please help with the solution

  • Say what?

  • Really satisfied with nexus 5 performance on marshmallow. Good work google and lg. Its a pleasent surprise to see 2yr old hardware still strong enough to run the latest and heavy android os without a gltich. There are minor bugs here and there but its just software and can be fixed with a update. Inshort very satisfied and love my nexus 5 even more now. Marshmallow is perfectly stable with no memory management issues .go for it

  • after updateing my nexus 5 to 6.0, in battery section there is a sub menu called battery optimisation . it was the dose fearture of 6.0, but it seemes as not optimesed . several times i changed the settings . but still it return to the default mode showing as the google play service is not available now. CAN ANYONE FACE THIS ISSUE FRIENDS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW & PLEASE GIVE ME A SOLUTION FOR THIS....

  • in Android 6 its White but scrolling is not side wise....its up and down

  • This a a china made cheap mobile with better chips inside it. Performance is good but delicate. You have to have the cover panel for it. Else if the phone falls it will create problems. Apart from this overall phone us good.

  • Is there any solution for white background in Menu. It was good in KitKat but in 5.0 it change to white. Hows dt in 6.0 ? I m dying to change it.

  • I have a Nexus 5, i'm really very satisfied with it's performance. The only problem that i'm facing is that, i have downloaded dozens of call recorders, one at a time, but, It records only the out going voice and not the incoming voice. Please suggest how to activate it.

  • www.youtube.com/watch?v=piEXsS9N7OM try this. Don't know if links are allowed if not just enter youtube and add this after .com /watch?v=piEXsS9N7OM

  • Use double tap instead of single tap, scroll using 2 fingers instead of 1, Go to settings>accesibility>TalkBack you want that off

  • Hey guys the average memory used has jumped up by 200MB-300MB after the marshmallow update, did anyone figure out that?

  • After updating marshmallow i felt some difficulties while copying music files into my internal storage. can any one help me out??

  • I have received 6.0 OTA on two days ago in Poland. Nexus 5

  • Last phone I remember having the percentage on was my xperia T which was on jellybean... I don't know if it was Sony who put it there though. My nexus 5 seems to run a lot smoother on 6.0. Not sure about the battery yer as I've been using my phone a lot for the past few days. I'm not keen on the new layout when you go to clear data from an app... Why has Google made things more complicated here? And that attempt at a file manager looks basic and boring tbh. Could have made it more colourful lol.

  • @james79 I agree 100%, why did Google remove the battery percentage display on the status bar? One the most important things for the user is knowing how much battery life he has left. What was the last version of Android that had that? Was it Froyo or Gingerbread? I have also found something else in v6.0 Goto Settings/Storage & USB, and right down the bottom is a new category named Explore. It's a crude attempt at a File Manager but it's not very good though.

  • Was there any point? The numbers are tiny lol. Why can't they just give us the percentage back how it used to be? 😠

  • @james79 Try this... On the Home screen, pull down the notification bar with two fingers. Hold down on the Settings icon (gear wheel) for a couple of seconds. You get a message that 'System UI Tuner' is enabled. You are taken to the Settings menu and there is now a setting at the bottom of the list - System UI Tuner. There are different things you can change but one of them is to display the battery percentage on the battery icon on the Status Bar. It is very small but is handy. You can turn the System UI Tuner back off by long pressing on the gear icon again if you don't like it.

  • @james79 I got the Marshmallow update tonight. As soon as the phone rebooted I turned it off, put it into Recovery Mode and cleaned out the Cache Partition. No problems since I restarted it. I like the new font but it seems a bit small.

  • Today i got android m update in nexus 5(in rajasthan, india).

  • bro are you download paid apps for free in google play store in nexus 5??

  • Don't do the Force update method as it messes up your Google account data.. Especially game data. It doesn't work anymore anyway.

  • To force Android 6.0 OTA update follow below steps on Nexus devices How to force Marshmallow Update on your Nexus Device: 1. Go to Settings > Apps > All > Google play services > manage space > clear data. 2. Go to Google Services framework > clear data > force stop. 3. Go to Settings > About phone > system updates (it should say last checked in 1969) 4. Click on 'Check Now' & keep refreshing and it should push the update to your phone if it doesn't work the first time keep trying 5. Reboot phone and repeat the same steps I got update using above procedure after the 3 rd time

  • @maulick Can I borrow yout time machine please. That way, I'll be able to travel into the future and get Marshmallow for my phone as well. That's what you must have done because it hasn't been released yet.

  • LG nexus 5 new Android version marshmallow 6.0 is smashing.

  • The worst smartphone ever used. Bought NEXUS 5 last year in April, got the motherboard changed this year in Jan and now again same problem. My phone isn't charging, got the battery replaced and now LG service center is asking me to get the motherboard changed again. Bad experience.

  • i faced a swithched off problem while working in mobil or not working...give any suggestion for this problem...

  • Did what you said at midnight, 13 hours later... System using 1.1gb ram so fix isn't permanent.

  • which android version u r using?

  • I has the same issue after the latest update. The RAM was completely consumed and there was space to run any other app. Here's the permanent fix. Switch off the phone. Press power button along with volume down button This will boot into fast-boot mode. Press volume down or up button to navigate to recovery option press power button This should clear the cache. And system usage should reduce to usual 300 MB or so. Try and let me know if it helps.

  • There is hangout for sms it works very slow. if I want to forward sms to someone else it takes around 15 to 20 sec to forward. facing same problem in whatsapp also. in updated version I didn't find the edit option in contacts.

  • I have replaced screen three times already and mainboard once. Phone durability is a way below today's smartphone standards.

  • Try factory reset once because it must after software update

  • Its Your Power Switch Problem

  • I tried the same..but in vain...think it works for some devices...:)

  • Thank You...I dont have much knowledge to do that..anyways thanks for your valuable reply...I will take the phone to the LG Service Centre and see what they say..thanks..

  • Mee too have the same prob. kindly explain the solution

  • Just switch your phone off and back on again. Hopefully we won't have to put up with this much longer as Android Marshmallow is just a few weeks away.

  • There is definitely a memory leak bug present again after latest update as every so often my apps refuse to open.. I checked the ram usage and apps were only using 255mb of ram.. The system on the other hand was using 1.3gb of ram touching 1.4gb of ram at times with virtually no apps running. Just switching the phone off and back on fixes this.

  • Sounds funny but it worked for me, had same issue some time ago - tap on the power button a couple of times and try again. In case it doesn't do it, refer to some forums which offer (more) complex alternative solutions to this issue. Success!

  • It is possible that your kernel may have been erased. You can upload the kernel back its a hard task but you can get back your phone on track.

  • My Nexus 5 is not switching ON...if i press the Power Button its showing Google and then nothing is happening...Pls can anyone help..

  • You probably don't need to restart. You can maybe hit the multitask button and swipe away the camera. This just shuts down the camera app. Either way I believe this error is caused by another app that uses the camera. Probably not one of the major ones like Instagram, but something else.

  • I keep having issues with my camera. It doesn't work often and says camera can't connect. I have to turn my phone off then on again in order to use it! Frustrating. Missed out on a lot of one shot chances to get a pic

  • I'm facing the lagging problem for last 2 days, apps are automatically restarting and its like I am using a super slow motion phone, its really weird, any suggestions?

  • after the new update the phone is having a small lagging problem and nt only that wifi is nt up to mark and it automatically goes off and the restarts again .....but apart from that things are gooing good ...but this is a nexus line so these things should be resolved soon with the android m update ...anyone knows when is it releasing

  • @May After the latest update my N5 shows Ram used:916Mb and Free:938Mb and there is NO change in speed.

  • After the latest security update my nexus 5 lags like crazy ,apps restart all the time, 1.3 gb ram is consumed by system only and after apps i get only 200mb free ram. My recommendation is not to apply the update as of now.

  • @sabbir If it isn't doing it every time then it must be one of your apps that is crashing the phone.

  • hi , after new build/patch update i have face device restart problem. after working some min device take restart automatically . have any one have this problem.

  • @james79 I just got another update - LMY48M, you should get it soon.

  • I just updated my nexus 5 and its working perfect.

  • Hey i am using nexus 5 this device is over heating i gave for LG service they said they changed mother board but again i am facing same issue its just waste of money please don't buy

  • Hello Guys, yesterday got security update from Google for my Nexus 5 running on 5.1.1 and build is LMY48l, but when i click on install, it rebooted the phone and started the installing for some seconds, and then it stopped the installation by just showing "Error", after some 30 seconds it rebooted, and came to same Build only. Anyone faced the same/similar kinda problem, please help me out to get rid of this issue. thanks in advance

  • my nexus 5 IC is broken, now it bootloop and when i send it to LG service center they said it cost 200usd f*ck

  • Bull shit new nexus 5 (2015) is going to be the same like the old one but the processor is hexa core and camera is varying ram is same as that of old nexus5 .I am using the nexus5 (2013) for 1 month it's really god and gives an super performance I like this phone its still worth it

  • I have a same problem I watch youtube to see if there is any video that can help me with the same problem just press the power button many times for 1 minute

  • Motherboard problem and motherboard will change at 8500 rs.

  • New Nexus 2015 page on gsmarena at last,

  • download an app like "Tunein Radio". There is no actual FM receiver in the device so you'll have to use your data.

  • Digital radio only... No fm transmitter in nexus 5.

  • how do i get a radio on the n5

  • This is power button issue. I have already face this before a week.

  • Probable lollipop 5.1.1 bug...

  • I have been using Nexus 5 since March 2014 and it was everything i ever wanted about a phone.recently the it fell and the screen broke, before i could even acquire a new one as its a rare phone in Kenya thus no screens available it developed another issue... when i try to switch it on,it does then shows the Google logo and switches off. what could be the problem.anyone assist please.

  • I had this phone for about a year. Good first impression on the slick and fast performance overall, the first problem I had stubled upon was the camera startup failure, which is happening until this day. Sometimes camera doesn't start and the only way to fix it temporarily is to restart the phone. It's very tedious if you need to use the camera quickly. Other let-down is that you cannot add external storage - microSIM cards. 16GB model Nexus 5 storage doesn't last long.

  • Best phone ever, works fast as a blink of an eye, no bugs, no malfunctions, battery could be better, but that's like THE ONLY flaw this phone has. I have it for 1,5 years, had NO problems with it. Can't wait for LG nexus 5 2015 this autumn, I'm expecting nothing less than perfect, because with this one I'm used to it.

  • dear user, the nexus 5 is a good phone but after the completion of the first year or so it starts to hang and the latest software is a useless software having a lot of bugs and pls dont buy the phone. lg is a useless company never buy phones of the same.

  • Worst ever... Got so sick of all the malfunctions I paid for a new phone... Battery sucks... Camera problems all the time.. But the kicker is I did the Google restore on the new phone.... It took all the problems... Master reset on the new one and all was good... It's junk...

  • I have Google Nexus 5 and I'm quite satisfied so far. Good battery and I wish it would have a card slot

  • I got the nexus 5 back in June 2015. Since the purchase my screen has been shattered twice, costing me $280s in repairs, to only break as easily as it did the first time. Also when I charge my phone over night, I wake up the next morning to my phone almost completely dead. I'd recommend doing something about the phone. I am very unimpressed with it.

  • This phone was everything I wanted for about the first year I got it new then shortly after its anniversary it started restarting randomly or appearing shut off (happened to all our Nexus 5 phones and still does). Mines also had a very sluggish GPS signal allowing me to drive a few solid minutes blindly before updating us that we had been going the wrong direction or that it was no longer tracking us (the arrow sometimes stops moving despite full signal). The camera takes forever to focus (there goes the shot!). Also recently the microphone went silent and my battery life doesn't last me until lunch while running nothing in the background mostly using SMS, Maps and WhatsApp. The RAM and processor speed are adequate as is the reception but overall I would stay away from this phone. 2/5 Rating.

  • One advantage of lollipop is you can download screen recording apps without the need to root. Also keep 4.4 whatever if you want to leave your nexus 5 vulnerable to stage fright hack. Updates are there for a reason!

  • Its best phone i ever had. I bought this in 2014 januuary. I didnt face hanging issue till now unlike any samsung phone.battery remains for a day and fast charging. Best option to buy

  • I bought this today after my friend bought this on monday. overall very good phone but the problem is i mistakenly upgraded to 5.1 and that is pathetic 4.4.1 was the best for those who haven't updated yet please don't .

  • Try photon flash player available at Google play store.

  • Please let me know how to install flash player in nexus 5 and a, unable to install adobe flash player any alternate for this

  • In my opinion Nexus should release two sims mobile Phone instead of two models of single sim,

  • N5 is supporting otg, download ES file manager from Google play store and install. I can even use my hard disk to n5.this will solve storage issue.Battery will come around 2 to 3 years, unless there is manufacturing defect, you can use power bank for battery backup.

  • I bought n5 in Dec 2013,I had all the issues like reboot and miner issues, all have been rectified, now my mobile is giving best performance ,I really happy and many times I thought of changing the phone ,but I couldn't do so because it is really working great. I still suggest to buy n5 worth for money.

  • Uninstall WiFi settings and switch off and on Phone. Then install WiFi settings.this will solve.

  • OMG!Now there will be Android 6.0 in Android one devices and brand new LG nexus 6 and Huawei nexus 6

  • Reduce screen brightness

  • great device except the battery life sucks

  • yes i have the same issue.

  • I got this phone in March and I m very very happy with this super fast device. No hang like any samsunga device which cost more than double of Nexus5 price for the same configuration. Waiting for its next generation device which probably launch in late october.

  • Best phone you could possibly acquire now. As for quality vs price Ratio, this one is the perfect fit! Look at the CPU performance 2.3 Ghz, that is insane for the price it comes with... Totally recommend it for you guys, even the latest Nexus 6 does not have much of improvement over it.

  • Best Phone Ever....Get Nexus 5 2nd Generation (would be out in Oct 2015). Far better than any other phone in the league.

  • Wait for the next generation coming out in a couple of months or get the moto x.

  • I hate this one.. i think it lacks the basic ease of use .. which i previous android based phones were equipped.. i have been using it form an year now.. and from the very first week i hated it .. so i wouldn't recommend

  • Just bought one yesterday. Best phone I ever had.

  • Is it worth buying this phone now? I think I want to buy this phone. What do u recommend. Its selling for 20000 now. And I think at that price its the best

  • I bought my phone when it was launched.I have faced no issue . In fact once it fell into water . the touch did not work for 24 hrs but then started working on its own . Everyone states that camera is not good but I never had any issues. Lovely pics and its great even when u zoom the pics. The only issue I see is the speaker is low on loudspeaker compared to other phones. I would say best phone and best specs for the prize of the phone.

  • No heating issues here except when phone is charging sometimes.

  • Bought LG Google Nexus 5 in January 2015 online through snapdeal. Now in 8 months time, the battery is malfunctioning. The charger has stopped working and the battery takes anytime between 3 to 12 hours to charge. It varies, strangely. I have tried charging it without using at all, wifi and data off and also switching off the mobile. But the result is same. Don't buy this product.

  • Nexus 5 is worst phone i used ever. A mobile phone is not based on only android updates, there are lots of other things which are also important for a good phone. Firstly nexus 5 get very much heated if i used it more than 5 minutes and very bad battery backup. I bought it only a month ago and i thought that i have wasted my money on this damn shit, i have lot of more options like one+one, iphone etc but seriously i m mad that i bought nexus 5.

  • its very agile phone, very good performance, nice display and very light but could be better if equipped with better speakers,it has only one speaker so the sound quality is poor but everything else is very good

  • I got my nexus 5 in march. So its 5 months old. Lately its been acting funny. It keeps turning WiFi off , not responding when charging and even shuts itself off when charging. My husbands also does this and his is the same age. Anyone else has this issue ?

  • Expect more updates soon... Apparently there is a way round the fix that Google has issued meaning we are still vulnerable.. Read it on BBC news.

  • I got it this evening. It's most likely the security patch that stops the stage fright flaw. I installed it right away with no hesitation.

  • The latest update is to fix a bug called "Stagefright". This bug leaves a massive vulnerability recently detected in which your device's personal data can be accessed by someone with just your mobile number. This big has been found to affect 99% of all Android devices (all the way back to Android 2.2 Froyo) and I'd install that update ASAP if you haven't already. You can Google "Android Stagefright" for more information :)

  • Extremely fragile. Had mine for 3 days, dropped from chair height and screen smashed. Pathetic for a mobile device to be so weak.

  • I got another update this morning. Build No.LMY481 Baseband M8974A-2.0.50.2.26 Does antone know what the update contains?

  • Nexus-5 is a good phone with good performance but my phone had display problem soon after one year. Nor Google or LG is supporting the service of the device, as the warranty of the device is over. Really a loss of money.

  • Memory cards are more portable.. One just cannot carry the OTG pendrive everywhere...

  • Dude, now it has become a myth that the touchwiz is a laggy crap... The new touchwiz is smooth and almost lag free.. Talking about the S5, it has double the battery backup than the nexus 5... also, Touchwiz has ample more features than the stock andriod, so few lags can be tolerated... Also the oneplus one and oneplus two, both are based on cyanogenMod on stock andriod and way better than the nexus 5, whether it be in terms of battery life, performance or anything... The nexus is only good for updates... Else nothing has remained special in the nexus 5.... And what you want to say about the xperia series? The timescape UI neither lags nor there is any con found in it... Better than the nexus 5....

  • Atleast they are better than the nexus 5... Not in terms of updates but performance and battery life.. Nexus 5 is just a overpriced shit now...

  • sorry but the ones u stated are crappy ..nexus is top of the line good performace and first in updates..s5 is not worth and xiaomi is unknown for comun people nexus is nexus when ever u put it like ot not.

  • Thx to

  • Samsung alpha or Nexus 5

  • Pretty simple solution there.... Don't go to flip kart. Latest software and galaxy s5 is not better as it's touchwhizz crap and laggy. This phone was on sale at half the price of galaxy s5 when I got it well over a year ago so cut your winging and whining just because flip kart is ripping you off.

  • I hate nexus devices they give small battery capacity and a large screen which takes all the juice.Oh and useless without a micro sd slot.

  • I have this like more than a half year, and no complains at all. Ofcourse you have to charge it every night, but thats it. Every stuff i give, it handles very smooth, without any lag. Also its pure android, with latest updates and stuff what i like the most. True phone with outstanding performance and goood screen and size. Who complains about memory size, remember, its phone from google, all space you need is on internet. If you want to play hudge games you can buy usb OTG, and connect as much memory as you want and play whatever you want. This phone changed my life in good way.

  • Its a hardware problem. you need to replace the connecting board to the display unit. I got it corrected within the warranty period in Sri Lanka.

  • Have you tried to do a factory reset? If it aint about software, I think it would be your screen problem..

  • please delete this opinion, I dont mention him on this post

  • I'm facing a problem in my nexus 5..now using Android 5.1.1 ..However some time I can't do anything because my phone screen jumping ..like wave....sometimes totally okay.. What's the problem??? Any solution????I reset my phone but again same problem... Plz guys help me....:(

  • Hahaha, are you joking? The flipkart price of this phone is 21k for the 16gb model and 32k for the 32gb variant...!! 16gb space is just too less so anybody would go for the 32gb variant, which is too much overpriced for such an old outdated and a shit...!! There are many other options available in the same price range and way better than the nexus 5, like the samsung galaxy S5, the note 3, xperia Z2, oneplus one, oneplus 2, xiaomi Mi4 etc..!!

  • Dude, if that's the case, a nokia 105 would help you better... From my personal opinion I has used a htc phone and found it to be shit... Sony, samsung etc are best brand found in the market... I used to own a LG G3 and believe my I had to struggle to find its accessories, whether it be the back cover or the screen guard..!! Now xiaomi is also developing itself and soon, it will become a good brand...!

  • Using this phone since more than a year. Great phone, never got disappointed using it. Yes, ofcourse there are few glitches like battery drains faster than on KitKat but its ok for me. Performance is just superb. Always remember, none of the smartphones are complete in every respect.

  • I owned the nexus 5 for about 9 months and used it as my daily driver. Phone was fantastic. Very snappy, quick and got the job done. My two complaints about this phones was the camera and the speaker were very poor. However, for that price, definitely worth it.

  • This is undoubtedly the worst purchase I have ever made. I took a risk on a LG phone; it looked so good on paper, and with the Google brand behind it, I thought I couldn't go wrong. I wish I had done my research and found this site beforehand, but I urgently needed a phone to replace my very old and very dead phone. I bought it in Nov last year, and by the second week of Feb, it was dead. The features and functions seem good enough, but having switched from an HTC which is surprisingly good with their user interface, I have to say the LG fell short. Little things would annoy me about it, but I figured it would take getting used to. But the awful battery life is inexcusable. I am not a gamer. I basically use my phone very lightly, messaging, some browsing, less than 5 short calls a day, and sometimes maps. The battery would be on the last bar in less than 6 hours. By Feb, it wouldn't charge anymore. I called LG and they said I would have to bring the phone to some remote location, which I just couldn't spare the time for. So I am back to my old HTC and looking a lot more carefully to buy something else. I am no techie, I just want my phone to work.

  • Um where it says Java | No it should be yes and do you know why? Because Android is a special Linux OS that runs specifically on a Java run-time environment

  • Bad luck.. you would have visited this forum before...

  • Yes, its way better than the note 2... Exception - battery life

  • I guess it doesn't even stand close anywhere to the Samsung Galaxy note 2

  • Lets hope LG have made the next Nexus better in every way. If you are entering into a 2 year contract then the guarantee should last 2 years also. I still think it is/was a brilliant smartphone let down by all the complaints on here. I agree battery life could be better and so on but fully agree that the smartphone should last or at least be repaired or replaced free of charge if it fails. The shop selling the phone to you is letting you sign a 2 year contract so they should guarantee it for 2 years.

  • Mine died at 14 months. They want $150 to fix it.

  • One thing I've noticed with the charging is that even though I'm still using original charger sometimes the phone is saying charging over USB when it's clearly AC charging. Annoying little bug as it charges very slow when saying charging over USB.

  • A phone sold solely due the brand built...A very bad experience with LG Nexus 5. I took this phone with lot of desire. But highly disappointed. On completion of my warranty period (i.e 1 year) immediately the phone started giving problems like sim not getting detected, battery issues etc. On visiting the LG service center, i shockingly found that the mother board of the phone has to be changed, and the cost of which would be very shocking "half the price of the phone". that means we are expected to shell out nearly 13k to 15k to repair the damn phone just after a year of buying the so called "NEXUS 5"....!!!! And this is not only what I, in millions have faced...but all the other fellow mates present in the LG service center along with me faced an issue with this LG NEXUS 5 and that too surprisingly just after completing a year. So i dont believe that this is a co-incidence.....!! Very disappointed with LG to manufacture such kind of hand set...and play around with consumer sentiments!....

  • I guess sony is good enough to provide updates to their phones anyways, as if now the sony xperia Z1 is better than the nexus 5

  • I'm using Nexus 5 for about 4-5 days.It is working nice but only issue is that the battery drains very fast and charges very slowly after updating to Android 5.1.1 Please help me to fix this problem.

  • Err what about the desire eye... That's got the 801 chipset in it and theoretically higher clock speed. Same as the one plus one and now one plus two. Yes nexus 5 is a great phone.. But it isn't the most powerful.

  • One more thing, do whatever you want ti do except breaking its hardware/watering. Software issues are not at all an issue for nexus 5. Trust me, I myself solve all software issues whenever i face with the help of available resources on xda or internet, though i am not an engineer. Just root your phine and unlock bootloader with the help of NEXUS ROOT TOOLKIT and explore the nexus 5. I am right now on kernel Uber, optipop rom with 2.5ghz(tweaked), GPU 533mhz, CPU undervolt (38), antutu score 48437(maximum achieved). SOT on a 2.2ghz,GPU 533ghz and minimum brightness i get 4hrs 48 minutes. So I ask other smartphones in this range to beat me. Come on, hurry....!!

  • Yes, If you know how to tweak/play with android, then nexus 5 is full of opportunities and lots of unofficial support. Just try it ones and go ti xda, there is an ocean of jewels for nexus 5.

  • only if it gets android m wich is unlikely... but it all depends.

  • If that happens than the Z1's battery backup will also increase...

  • What like lollipop was supposed to? Get real... Android M will have new features which will suck the ram and decrease battery life.

  • I had ordered it on release and got it a week after that and from then till now it has been perfect. Battery life might not be the best, in the beginning I had only 3H SoT, but after tweaking the settings alone, I am able to get around 4-5H SoT. This is on pure stock android, and without using any apps to help out. Mind you, I could increase this SoT further with the use of certain Apps or a new kernal/rom. Stock camera is ok, but a 3rd party app easily beats it and really shows the power of the N5's camera. Overall, the Nexus 5 is a great phone, it just takes a bit of tweaking to get it where it needs to be.

  • i object. android M will improve the battery life for nearly more than double!

  • Yes it's a good choice but don't spend too much money on one. Had mine for 18 months and only the odd software bugs to report really... Battery is crap but that's to be expected with any nexus lol. Personally I'm waiting to see whether the 2015 nexus 5 version by LG rumours are true as to date there is no suitable replacement for my nexus 5.

  • Please dont ever buy it. In just 1 year my nexus 5 has gone dead twice.Twice I have given it in the service center with mother board replaced!!

  • It is the best smartphone ever, it it great and stable

  • Thanks mate! Appreciate it your opinion :)

  • Get your phone backed up and perform a factory reset..!! If it still doesn't help then visit a service centre and get your problem rectified...!!

  • Okay, I was a bit wrong... Also 2.2ghz and 2.3ghz don't make much difference...!! The nexus 5 doesn't have a microSD card and has a very pathetic battery life.. That's what makes the difference...

  • Purchasing the nexus 5 at this point is not a good option..!! The nexus 5 has really pathetic battery life and doesn't even have a microSD card... You can have a look at the samsung galaxy S5 which is a very brilliant phone, the xperia Z1 will also be a good buy... Also if you don't have brand preference than you may go for the oneplus one it also brilliant...

  • Hey guys i'm from india.I wanted to buy the nexus 5 as i love it!So can anyone temme whether it would be a good choice? Or should i wait for some other phone! Waiting for your reply! :)

  • By far "THE~BEST" smartphone I have used is Nexus-5, in terms of Performance, easy to use, Perfectly Sized, Black Se*y look, Fast updates. Battery is not a concern for me, as I live in 21st century and electricity/powerbanks are easily available. Camera better than many 13mp smartphones, because it has got OIS (atleast I don't need anything better). I have used xperia z2, Sony 20mp camera is a shit, take a pic and zoom, you will get to know the amount of detail is similar to 8mp pics(whether superior auto or Manual). In short Nexus~5 is a natural beast. Dont look at just specifications, try to get a real life experience/user opinions and then decide which one to buy.

  • no it does not, it has 800 chipset like this one, and its 2.2ghz and this one is 2.3ghz

  • Still the best full touchscreen smartphone I've owned,,definitely the fastest. Holding out now with old couple of phones till new Nexus released. If rumours are true and we get this design with updated hardware and battery then definetly buying and brand new not second hand. In the past I held on to Galaxy S2 due to Sammys software enhancements which I won't bother going over again but I can now replicate these as software and Devs have evolved. Therefore back then I loved HTC Nexus and Sammys Nexus S (still best stealth phone ever built) but missed Sammys own software bits so sold them. Now I can enjoy Nexus with ONLY the software I want put on. Hope they do not go with ill fated 810 chip in smaller Nexus which is said to be 5.2 inches but hope it is bit smaller. The Nexus 5 was fast, stylish and had superb crisp screen.

  • Airtel has deployed both TDD and FDD network in Delhi that's why you are able to see LTE

  • I've had this phone since December 2014, before which I had a Samsung Galaxy SII (amazing phone, served me well for nearly 3 years). The Nexus 5 works like a charm. Apart from the below average battery life (which is being worked on with every update Android sends out) and the lack of a card slot (music lovers will understand), the phone is an absolute dream. Amazing specifications for a shockingly low price, paired with stock Android and first peek at all updates, Google's flagship (shut up Nexus 6 you aren't even a real phone) is heaven in a 5 inch package.

  • Amazing phone for 1.5 year, but now i got the Red led blinking and can't do anything about it ( tried everything people and google suggest on the net ) and also replaced the battery by a new one, it had no effect, still the red Led. So now i have to buy a new phone and i'll lose all my photos and stuff.

  • Z1... As it has a snapdragon 801 chipset and much better battery life than the nexus 5... Also it has expandable storage and a 20mp camera which is way better than that on the nexus 5...!!

  • Nexus 5 all the way dude.

  • just factory reset it. but go with the hard reset, get into recovery, delete cache partition and then factory reset.

  • I am using this phone till eight months ago its best phone but after updating from 5.1 to 5.1.1 .the bettry is draining fast giving less bettry back up .i request the software makers teams to please fix it

  • motorola moto x 1st gen..is better...go for it..

  • I own Google Nexus 5 D821(E) made in Korea. I am currently in Gurgaon where airtel has deployed LTE. According to Airtel guys they have deployed LTE-TDD band 40(2300 Mhz) which is not supported by Nexus 5. But still i am able to see LTE in my phone and using the network with my LTE data pack. I have also tried it to switch on LTE Only to clear my doubts but phone worked with LTE as charm. So looks like Airtel guys are lying about Airtel network they have provided in Gurgaon. Although i highly doubt it but still could it be LG LTE stack bug or hardware information i don't know correctly ???

  • Which better xperia z1 or nexus 5

  • Does 3G work on it??? cz i need faster net searching.....

  • NEXUS 5 (821) Supports the following Bands GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz WCDMA: Bands 1/2/4/5/6/8 4G LTE: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/20 Three different frequency bands are used for 4G LTE in India. Band 20 (800MHz), Band 3 (1800MHz) and Band 40 (2300MHz). Band 40 is immature and old as compared to the other LTE Bands. So new handsets may not support band 40. Check your operator's band in your circle before buy. NEXUS 5 DOESN'T WORK ON BAND 40. But works on 800 and 1800MHz. Operators offered 1800MHz band in India. BHARTI AIRTEL: All 22 Circles RELIANCE Jio: All 22 Circles VODAFONE: 5 Circles - Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Karnataka and Kerala. IDEA CELLULAR: 8 Circles - Kerala, Maharashtra & Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Haryana and the North East.

  • No 4g of nexus doesn't work on indian basebands

  • Nexus 5

  • Switch off auto brightness

  • I've had one for over a year, It's definitely 4g capable, I use it on 4g frequently

  • I have a nexus 5. It's an excellent phone. Before I bought this phone I had a LG Optimus G which was slow, not reliable, bad phone call quality and very, very bad GPS. I need a phone for Ingress to. I gave this phone to my Mom and she had problems with it as well. Then I bought the nexus 5, which is still my current phone. Everything is very good. Except for battery life and GPS. Other than that I have no other problems. Solution to battery life: turn of all applications and turn of brightness. Solution to bad GPS: log on to a WiFi network. By Christmas everyone in my family had the nexus 5 exept for my dad (go look at my post on G+). Everyone has no problems with it. Out 5 five stars: 4.5

  • i'm use Nexus 5 and it is amazing phone. No Lagging, very smooth, and faster. Samsung have a killer spec, but still lagging and not smoth.

  • Hi guys I am from India i got nexus 5 in 2 days before by exchanging my note3 I am happy to use this phone its quit comfortable in hand..I want to know this phone shows it has LTE but its not showing the 4g symbol at all it support LTE or not

  • this phone is efficient

  • Great but many bugs in every updates.

  • nice phone tahahaha

  • I agree about the visit to the doctor. Lol.

  • consult your fisician,but quick

  • vary bad phone

  • Nice phone .No fault

  • Nice phone .No fault

  • the 4g don't work

  • this is to inform you that LTE mean 4G is not going to work with nexus 5 because it is not having 2300 fdd band. means phone having 2300 band will only work with 4G.

  • Best phone . NO faults

  • Even Selecting with LTE getting only 3G.

  • Try and selecting LTE option in cellular network selection. I guess you are on either 2G or 3G netwrok only.

  • My nexus 5 performance is well.. But recently I'm in problem.. I don't know why.. Using 5.1.1 ..my display some time go ups and downs.. I can't do anything.. Any solution???

  • One of the best phones that I ever had, I highly recommend to buy the phone, I love the nexus logo in the back, I love the andooid that this phone have, I love the performance of the phone, I simply love everything about this phone for a little exception that it's the battery :/ the battery really doesn't do much :/ if you want to play games the battery will last just like 3hr and it will overheat if you are charging the phone, but if you are not planning to play that longer its OK Overall this its an awesome phone I have this phone for over a year and I'm planning to buy the next nexus phone :3

  • I had a nexus 5 which had to be replaced because of headphone issues. They replaced it with a year old phone. And a few months using it and a rebooting issue develops. My mails are being ignored by Google and LG is asking for 14.5k ! Amazed and disappointed at the way Google treats its customers at such times. Can't we sufferers get together and form a group and do something about it.

  • It's also supposed to have the snapdragon 810 inside... There is no way on earth I'm ever buying a phone with that chipset inside as the only way to stop it overheating is to underclock it or throttle it.

  • It's announced Nexus5 2015 edition is launching 3qtr,LG with beefedup specx, should be basic 32 GB. Will be a rejoice to repeat LG. Forgive & Forget N5 previous.. It's a 4K device. Just cool down for now😊

  • Battery backup is really pathetic with thr nexus 5, anyways carry a power bank, it would help..

  • Huh, gorilla glass is not an unbreakable glass... Mostly it is used in smartphones to avoid minute scratches and scuffs... Yes, it can withstand some falls but that doesn't make it unbreakable...!!

  • Not as per standard. Corning gorilla glass 3 is only to fool peoples. Even a fall of 2 feet ur screen will be damaged. hanging problems while multitasking. not so fast. Bad products .Over priced

  • My experience with this phone is very bad. I suggest not to buy this phone.Frequent problems are in hardware components like motherboard and battery. Also, at any time it gets switched off. The feature for which I was interested to buy this phone becomes a curse. Every time when I downloaded the system update version, it forced me to visit service station. Any time it gets heat up. Battery consumption is very poor especially when u are using net. Because of these, I am scared of using it. Remove all apps, games :( so that it should remain active. Its not good at all.

  • not worth buying after 1 year itself phone was rebooting on its own and now its not starting at all.i think poor quality provided by lg and incompatibility of google software with hardware provided

  • Wait for Android M people the battery is sharply increased with that update !

  • All the battery saver apps are just craps... Say the battery doctor or the DU battery saver, all are craps... They just occupy space in the phone...

  • Dude there are much better performing phones than the nexus 5, they have much better battery backup... Its LG'S fault that they did not gave a heavy battery in the nexus 5...

  • Great Phone but the power button issue is a killer. I had to pay unnecessary service fee from my pocket to fix it. LG service centers are not yet ready for the mobile market.

  • You serious? When i first dropped my N5 its screen cracked to pieces lol. Though i still love my N5

  • Nope..no 4g in india with nexus 5 no matter what carrier you use. It's because the 4g band that is being used in India differs with that compatible with nexus 5.

  • Installed DU battery and battery is bit more efficient now. But full charge takes 90 minutes with it where as normal charge without any battery app takes 45 minutes. Anybody tried with it ? Post your opinion on battery results with apps.

  • Just got with 4G Sim with Airtel india. Just getting E and H symbols with network connectivity ie 2G and 3G, is it means no 4G with Nexus 5 yet with Airtel India?

  • I hope you enjoy your zenfone 2 then lol. I've had my nexus 5 since March 2014 and no cracks in the screen.. A few hairline scratches but no cracks! And I've dropped it a couple of times too... But that's what protective cases are for... So while you are enjoying your zenfone I will be looking at getting the new LG nexus later this year.

  • I have been using it for well over 6 months now and all i can say is that i love this phone. it serves very well. Android 5.1.1 fixed buggs and extended battery life. Preformance is just excellent. I love it and i recommend it!

  • This phone has a faulty design, in my opinion. The display breaks far too easily, likely because the phone is too flimsy and bends. The glass remains intact, but hairline cracks tend to appear in the display after a few months of normal use, rendering the phones display inoperable and requiring a very expensive repair (as the display is fused to the entire front half of the phone). I had an iphone 3 for 7 years, and it's still my backup phone. 6 months into the Nexus 5 I had to replace the screen for nearly $200. 3 months after that the screen broke again, on a rainy Sunday when it spent literally the entire day on my desk. Somehow on the trip from my desk to my nightstand that night the display cracked. The phone was handled gently, and has been subject to the same day-to-day treatment that the iPhone handled problem free for all those years. I will never buy another LG phone. And, rather than spent another $200 on a display that will only last 3-6 months, I will be replacing it with a zenfone2.

  • I've had this phone for about 18 months. Although it's a good phone I wouldn't recommend it to people. Reason being I've had the power button issue for the past 1 month.LG service centre says, its mother board issue + power button issue and its 2.5k rs. I've also know many people that had the same issue either in or out of warranty. That means it's a phone issue witch is preposterous for a phone by titans like LG & Google while they deny a fix for it. Never expected this from Google devices. better buy like samsung or motorola or apple.which doesnt hv any problems for hardware.

  • Very good phone with excellent features provided by android lollipop.

  • Good phone. Fast and lag free. Biggest problem is short battery life. Not sure is it just with mine. Had Nexus 4 before and it's better was noticeable better.

  • YES 4G work fine in NEXUS 5 i am chennai airtel not lighting fast but fast when compared to 3G

  • But airtel says 4G with band 40 ie 2300 which is not with nexus 5. If so which model u have D820 or D821 ?

  • Your(Google) this new software is just a crap. No more useful than a bin full of waste. Phone reboots atleast 10-15 times a day, then is the turn of optimising the apps!!!wtf!! Loosing my battery in just a click with my phone switching on and off and on and so on. Google's loosing its glory. Will never gonna go for a play store device. Such a shit. If I can give you a negative rating, I ll rate you infinite times negative. Bullshit. Really disappointed.

  • Only problem is voice it is very low specially on speaker mode otherwise phone is awesome

  • thanks for the reply, with Xiaomi powerbank 10400 mah it charges like anything. thanks for the tip

  • Yes working 25 mbps

  • It's a common problem in Nexus 5, even I too had it. But the good thing was I got it resolved at local service center for just Rs. 750 (they replaced inner part of power button) and now the device is flawless. And coming to battery, being a high performing smart phone yes it consumes much battery but follow some battery saving tips (search in internet) u may conserve battery. Bottom line is though it was released way back in 2013, it is still an outstanding phone compared to many latest flagship devices. I love Nexus 5.

  • Should not take more than 2 hr..and around 1.5 hr if you use the same charger supplied in the box. Still if you face the problem may be there is something wrong with the device or may be the charger has fault. Try charging with some different charger to see how long it takes.

  • Yes it works for me

  • I've had this phone for about 18 months. Although it's a good phone I wouldn't recommend it to people. Reason being I've had the power button bootlooping issue for the past 5 months (just out of warranty) and it can't get fixed by most repair centers except SBE, the one LG recommends, which has the worst reviews apparently. I've also know many people that had the same issue either in or out of warranty. That means it's a phone issue witch is preposterous for a phone by titans like LG & Google while they deny a fix for it. Also the battery doesn't last at all, especially with Lollipop.

  • Reinstall the ROM

  • 4g on Airtel mumbai (India ) isn't supported as it requires 2300 Mhz which is not compatible with the Nexus 5 :(

  • No you should charge within an hour. Try using different charger from nexus 5. Else u need to change the battery.

  • Any body with 4G Airtel? is it working well with Nexus 5

  • I am on android M. Could someone give tips? Just purchased this mobile, used one, One year old. Battery takes around 5 hours to charge, why? Is it OK? Thanks

  • You should probably try installing official nexus 5 rom of kitkat provided by Google. Is will probably work. If you already installed that then try installing again it will work fine.

  • Hey,earlier i was using lollipop as it was horrible OS, i again downgraded to kitkat 4.4.4 ,its working fine, now the problem is in my contacts lists its not been updated , its not displaying calls properly not even the missed/received/dialed calls. Please tell me friends how to update or any settings to change. Waiting for your reply??

  • If it wont work.. Try Nexus Otg cable app..

  • Its effects minutely... You may not be able to notice it

  • Nexus 5 is better,I brought nexus 5 it is good phone.good processor, avg nd better camera, better bck up is avg.all over a good phone

  • Yes,download es file manager nd connect otg with pendrive

  • @ James79 I use Nova Launcher + Belle UI icon pack. Looks gorgeous!

  • Using the Nokia Z launcher and it's still very snappy.

  • nexus 5 is just awesome i have used a lot but nexus is the best i have ever seen...

  • In my opinion, the launchers consume much battery and slow down the systems... The default launchers are the best ( the ones which come default loaded)... The nexus 5 haa to be snappy as it is a nexus device...!!

  • Would love it if this exact same Nexus came out with updated chipset (not 810) and bigger battery plus 64gb/128gb storage, also just bit more power output through headphones jack.

  • Have to agree the Nexus 5 is still the fastest smartphone I have used. Have not tried LG G4 or S6 but even iPhone not as fast at switching apps and opening up apps and I use Nova Launcher on "fast as light"settings and was just near instant.

  • Gorilla glass is for protecting it against scratches and small drops...

  • I am planning to buy a new phone ...which one is better lg g3 32gb or nexus 5?

  • I've owned this phone for 2 years and am still very happy with it. Great screen quality, good speed, and good battery.

  • Does nexus supports OTG(USB on the go)

  • but did you do the factory reset?
