I had this phone for almost two years and it was a pretty good first phone. Everything worked well, the camera was good. After about a year and a half it started playing up a bit and the front screen stopped working, then would work again. After two years, i broke it by mistake (the latch holding the bottom and the screen togteher broke)I would recomend this phone for first timers but one hint is that though it looks very thick, don't be fooled - it can break easily!

This phone highly not recommended because: The camera isn't as good. No bluetooth o.o Low memory and NO card slot. The infrared is sooo slow. Is pretty heavy. (I know this stuff because I actually have this phone.)

to get rid of no caller id, go to Menu- Calling- Settings- Send My Number. there you can change it to no caller or not.

the tech specs of this phone says that it has 32 mb of memory. but i can access only upto 24mb.. whers the rest does s/w consumes such a lot of memory space??? also i have no idea hw 2 use it infrared port. no data (picture, message...etc..)is getting transferred via this port. can n e 1 plz help?????????????

Hi everyone, most of you guys seems that you have only problems with your LG U8180, my only problem is that i can't use the IrDA, and that it has low memory:24MB, but in rest is a great cell phone, i usualy have more than 400 polyphonic ringtones, more than 240 screensavers, and many photos all at the same time, and i also have 64 java games that i easily transfer them via USB conectivity, and i also have on my PC more then 300 java games that i frequently change them, or i can easly put up to 8 mp3 songs or 15-20 mp4 songs, and the sound quality is perfect, or i can put more than 23minutes of 3gp video, and the video quality it's great... ALAN.

I can't get Caller ID to work, and I can't set the time - it only lets me set by time zones, and during daylight savings, there's no zone offered that suits the correct time, so it's an hour out, which is quite confusing. Let me show you how to put mp3 in ypur LG phone... 1 - Connect the phone to the PC by the USB 2 - Instal all the drivers an the manager phone 3 - Open the manager phone and there you'll see a little window where it says connect...but this it will not work until you press 'Contents" and after that search the button could "transfer" (look up the page)...there try to set the COM PORT but do not press OK....PRESS CANCEL.... 4 -now try to connect the phone...it is easy... IT IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF SH*T EVERR!!!! the infrared doesnt work properly so u can recieve things from other fones- my friend is using a loan phone while her other phone is getting fixed, and she took some really important photos with it.... she tried to send them to my LG u8180 via infrared, and it didnt work!! so now when she has 2 return the phone when hers gets fixed, she will lose the pictures forever!! and its very difficult 2 connect it to the computer via USB (took me forever). VERY disappointing!! also, it doesnt have ANY form of connectivity with other phones, not even bluetooth which is just pathetic. its really chunky too! like, a brick!!! oh and the screen isnt anything special!!!!! so yeah if u r considering buying this phone, do yourself a favour and DONT BUY THIS PHONE! by the way if anyone can help me with the infrared (IRDA) problem please please please email me!!! thanksss

hi. my problem is that my usb will connect fine to the phone and computer. and there is three options to choose the contents, messages and contacts. i can go into the messages section and look at the messages i have on my phone. but the problem is every time select the contents one this message appears " runtime error" and then once i click ok another message comes up "lg phone manager exe. has generated errors and will be closed by windows. you will need to restart the program. an error log has been created, click ok." and the program closes. i have tryed restarting my computer but that does not help at all. someone help me please [email protected]

i got this phone.. so yea. its good .. but i would prefer nokia phones as u are able to type faster and better.. much better response acutually... if ur having trouble connecting it with ur comp , use the cd provided and install it.. all the frivers needed are in the cd itself.. use the lg phone manger that comes with it..

I recently brought a LG U8180. I was please with what i paid for. The camera takes clear pics and the video camera is not bad. It took me a while to find out how to put mp3 songs onto it, but i finally found out. It has some really good features, i like the external screen and how big and clear the screenis inside. Hi im Jayden Im 16 and i have had a Lg U8180 for about a year now and i don't really like it because infrared doesn't work i tried to send a photo of my aunties nokia 6101 to it and the phone agent thing came up but it took about a hour to try and send and it didn't work and if anyone wants to know how to hook your u8180 up to your computer with your usb cord this is how u do it ok- U plug the usb side into the computer the other side into the bottom of your phone then it will say found new hardware then u click a box will come up saying please insert a cd with software which is the lg phone agent program,and then once u have installed that the com port sets itself up then the computer should reconnze your phone then u click connect in the Lg ohone agent and all your images,audios,videos and voice recordings should come up then u can either transfer them of your phone on to your computer just copy and paste and u transfer stuff on to your phone cheers jayden......

I've had this phone for 7 months now, and ever since the start, i could never get any infared connection working to receive or give info. To add to this problem, the phone manager keeps having errors everytime i connect and open up the contents folder. What is an error log? so i havent been able to upload anything for a while. Hi! I got this phone a little while ago, and I think it's great! The only problem is, whenever somebody calls me, it always says "No Caller ID", even if the person is in my address book. I HAVE FIINALLY CONNECTED MY PHONE :D here is how to do it ... go into the LG phone manager - connect your mobile to the usb - clik connect- VIOLA! it worked for me like the 100th time but dont give up just keep trying the u just go into audip and drag any music into it you want... but be careful there isnt much memory...:( hope this helps ♥♥ sally

My baby brother was playing with my phone (LG U8180) without me knowing and he put the sim lock on. then i turned my phone off then on again. then all that came up was enter PUK number. so i did. I was blessed with this type of phone but unfortunately I only used it for about 10 days. I realised that the battery was low and decided to charge it immediately I get home but I forgot, so later on I remember and went for the phone to recharge but it was blank. I tried charging it but it couldnot. The next morning I tried again but still it could not charge. Anytime I tried switching it on for I see a light which goes off immediately. Initially I was thinking it was the battery so I gave it to a friend who has the same phone he tried the battery but it was alright after charging it with a universal charger. To all of those who had problems trying to transfer pictures from your mobile to the PC: I had the same problem and thanks to a skilled friend worked it out after many weeks. How? First open the LG Synch Manager/Configure/Communications Setings and choose your port setting. I chose COM6. Then open the LG Phone Manager/Transfer/Set COM Port and choose THE SAME PORT THAT YOU SELECTED IN THE LG SYNCH MANAGER, in my case COM6. So, remember, whether it's COM5 or 6 or some other port, IT MUST BE THE SAME for the LG SYNCH MANAGER as for the LG PHONE MANAGER. I think that's the big trick. For me it solved the problem when I almost gave up trying. Now everything works out fine. Hope this helps you all. Cris

Well i read your opinions and i noticed that you have problems using your apllications...to load games follow the next steps: 1)Enter the phone menu, then go to applications, go to settings and finally press 3698#*# 2)Doing this you will have on your phone display: Toogle(Cur:Disabled) Make another folder Delete all 3)Pressing the toogle option you will have now on your phone display Toogle(Cur:Enabled) 4)Once you have followed the first 3 steps download some games. You may find only the .jar part of the game but using a program(jadgen) you will also have the other part of your game .jad Once you have the both parts(.jar and .jad) rename your games as: 00.jar 00.jad, 01.jar 01.jad, 02.jar 02.jad and so on....For example: if you have a game called bowling you must have bowling.jar and bowling.jad. As i told you you will rename them as: 00.jar 00.jad 5) Enter the phone menu, then go to applications then go to settings and finally press 3698#*# 6)Press 2 and you will have a message like this one: folder 00 added, folder 01 added, folder 02 added, etc. 7)Now go to your mobile phone manager and connect.Before you do what i said you had in your phone only: animation, audio, videos, images. Now you will have a java folder too. Now copy your games(00.jar 00.jad 01.jar 01.jad etc) and paste in the java directory. 8)Once you have done this, disconect your phone from the computer. 9)What you have to do now....open the phone menu go to application, press my application and surprise! :D You will find there your games 10)The last step and the hardest is this one...Why? Because you must enjoy playing the games and be proud of your mobile phone:P Good Luck ;)

just bought it today this phone not happy 1 bit i connect me usb lead to pc same thing says something about port com not right and it wont connect and if i do get it to work. later on same thing happens again and i can only put like 3 mp3 files and one video on the entire unit then it tells me im out of memory. worst phone ive ever had will be getting a samsung d600 now. a game i also tried to install said not on handset no more yet 3 charged me five quid for it dident even get the game. phoned them up waste of time they said did i have enough memory at time it was 32mb they said diffrent. so last word is avoid this phone like the plague its bad.

OK..I've read your posts and noticed a problem with the usb connectivity. You should take the next steps: 1.Connect your phone to the computer using an usb cable 2.Start the LG U8180 phone manager application and also select USB from your connectivity phone menu 3.Select your com port (mine was COM5) the working port has an * so you should select that one. 4.After you started a new usb connection from the phone press the (END CALL KEY) by doing that you'll return to the usual phone screen (the one showing your operator). 5.Press connect from your computer software and it should work..cheers! and a Happy New Year!

Please help, I am having the same problem as others. I can't connect the phone to the PC. In the Set Com Port in the Phone Manager I have an * next to COM 5 so I have selected this on and USB is selected. Also in the System Device Manager I have made sure that the devices are all working properly but still I get a fail to connect message. Problems Solved!

Well, where to start. MP3 Files: The memory capacity of the phone is 32MB shared amongst everything. I believe that the software itself is taking up about 11MB, which leaves you 21MB of memory for "your stuff". The problem that you are having is that your MP3 files are too large, ie. 6MB each. You should reduce the file size, using an MP3 converter, and make the file into a smaller file. You will loose sound quality, however on the phone you will not notice much difference (due to the fact that your phone is not a complete 5.1 dolby surround sound system!). Next, those whos phones will not connect to the phone, you must ensure that you are connecting through the right 'com' port, which you must set using the software.To do this, open LG Phone Manager, Go to: [TRANSFER] in the main menu up the top, then go to [SET COM PORT], and change this to 'COM6', ensure the 'USB' check box is checked, and then press OK. This should now enable you to connect. As far as installing java, I do not know, but am yet to find out.

Hi All. I have ben struggling with the USB sync. However I started the LG desktop and then right clicked on the manager icon in the tray. Select configure and set the com port to 5. Imediatley before I had connected the phone via a usb cable and tried to sync withe manager configured for com 1. When I went back into manager configure com 5 was showing available for usb Ihad not previously noticed this. Hope this fix works for you. It make a really good phone brilliant. the only thing wrong with gthing is that it will only work with your phone and your phone's imei number

So...you can transfer images...sounds...videos...from the computer to the cell phone...and from the cell phone to the computer.With gthing you can even transfer games and applications.. About the sms...at first i saw too the speed is very slow...but after a mounth my u8180 is very fast :)

open your LG phone manager, on the top left hand side of your screen click the connect tab (2 plugs joined)in your menu tree you will see, Animations, Audios, Images, Video, Voice recorder double click on images, that will now show contents on your right hand screen, right click & hold image & drag it to a folder on the left hand menu tree, image now on your computer.

i just bought this phone a couple of days ago and i am very very happy with it. everything is working fine and i got the USB conection working to the computer(it's quite easy). The only worry i have at all is the battery life, i have to charge it roughly every 3 days which is quite often... how often do other users have to charge their phone??

U8180 software nearly doesn't exist on the internet,i flashed it with U8138 then i used the 8138 driver, it worked..for Installing Java Games you need "GThing" new version otherwise it will connect then close, try different com ports (e.g, WMC Device management port), when connecting the phone it has to be activated (not idle). nearly all games from Nokia and siemens worked, except some application which needs to access the file system. That's it.

I can tell you that you can record unlimited...is there the option...and i don't know why...but i can connect my lg u8180 to the computer very easy.Only get the usb into the phone..install the application from cd...open the application...and push the button connect...it's very simple.

I purchased my LG U8180 a few days ago and want to know if more than 1 person can be added to the picture ID function, at present i have only worked out how to add one person each time i add a new person it overwrites the first. The manual that came with the phone is rubbish doesn't tell you much at all. Hope some one can help me cheers. P.S great phone.

hey everybody. I believe someone asked which is the better of the two - LG U8180 or Motorola V975. Well they basically have the same functions... The U8180 is pretty much a sexier, marginally updated U8110. Lg stick to the sam basic phone design and features updating slightly to make their new phone a more attractive buy. In terms of looks i would definately go for the V975 but the hinge is REALLY dodgy. After prolonged use the flip almost swings open so... yeah... I was in a toss up between the two - the V975's hinge put me off but the expandable memory was very attractive. All in all i believe that the U8180 is a better buy and i have decided that it is the one that i am going to get. Of course this is MY personal opinion and i am not trying to preach U8180s on anyone else but for friendly person to person advice - go for the U8180.

Hi, I am currently using the U 8330 LG Phone, Very nice and simple, but with more functions. The problem I have with the phone is that, although I can browse on the phone, yet I can not do that on the PC any time I connect it with the PC. It will tell me that the TE is disconected. That is the message I see every time on my phone when conecting it with the pc so that I link with the internet. Please can any one be of help to me as to how I can browse on my pc when I connect my phone with it.Also what is the meaning of TE as it appears on my phone. I also can't play Ggames. Well, I have a LG 8110 and it does not connect with anything at all. It has a Irda (Infra Red) port - but you cant send pics to your friends at all. The only way to do this is to send a MMS. With no bluetooth and the USB cord that comes with it means nothing because the software does not work correctly, you should stay away from the 8110 and be careful on getting an LG. See your friends - if they have the LG and it seems to work, go for it. There is a positive for the 8110 - the screen is nice.

well, i must say that this phone has some great features but it has some minor problems as well!!!first of all the quality of the interior lcd screen is very high. it has super colours and true sounds. you'll be very excited about the quality of the pictures or short films.i didn't have any big problems with it, only two times when i've shot a picture the soft went a little crazy but other than that it has performed very well. it's true that you must have a powerfull light when you want to use both cameras becouse the flash won't help you a lot in the dark. all in all,i say that this is indeed a great phone and if somebody wants to buy it, it's a great choice. i've had my doubts either but i don't regret it for one moment that i chose to buy this phone.

You cannot unlock this phone, it unlocks itself after 1 year. Video recording lasts 8 seconds. The memory is not enough, if there was a slot then it would be ok. No bluetooth either... you think they would have added this stuff right? i mean why not? But after that... it is sooo definatley worth it :D. Ive had it for 1 week now and its great, ive had no problems with pc connectivity, battery life, software and really anything. Im slightly disapointed with the battery life, if meant to be used as a mp3 player as well it means sacrificing room for games and tones. Trick is, to use your mp3's as tones :P and save space. i have enough room for 5 java games, 3-4 mp3's, 30 contacts, 3 short videos, 25 images - roughly. hullo i was looking at buying a LG U8180 but the 3G network is not available where i live so i was looking at unlocking it and putting it on the optus network as i am already on that network but my brother told me that if i unlocked it from 3G some of the features would not such as video conference is this correct???

Honestly, I don't know if it is a fault of the phone or is a problme with the vendor. I bought it in the 3 shop in Milano. The internal LDC failed after 3 days!!!! What's worse, they don't want to replace it in warranty, because they say it was caused by a crash (which is not true, externally ther is no damage at all!). So I wasted 145 euros!!! I used one of this phone b4, also lots of other brand phones. I must say this phone is great, your money is worth spent on it easy to use with just one hand! Battery standby and talk time is seem to last longer than the website stated, but there is abit disapointment cuz of small memory 32mb and no Blue Tooth! The phone have very good colore screens inside and out lots of other features I'm sure you will find those are usefull as I am like make jpeg into gif image.
