  • man, I had this phone for 2 years and i broke it 2 days ago. I am so sad, this was the best phone I've ever owned. It had everything I needed with a sleek design. I want another one!!! anybody selling one?

  • Hey, i have this phone for 2 years now, and i have a problem... the right hinge broke and i don't now where (if) i can replace it... if anyone can help me i will apreciate it... thanks

  • hey ash why dont you try to bluetooth the files from your laptop to you phone. if your laptop has bluetooth

  • I never got two batteries with my LG. Does it make a difference what company you have service with?

  • yes press the c button for 2 sec when the phone is answerd

  • Cons: Loud seaker distorts quite a bit; menu buttons hang - you press and there is a time delay; no zoom in camera/video mode - when shooting; noticed more drop outs over other phones. Pros: Battery life is good, low SAR rating, sturdy hinge, ear speaker is nice and loud with good quality sound (as opposed to loud speaker which is the opposite). Overall an excellent phone. The cons I only consider as minor niggles - it is foremost a telephone after all.

  • I have this fone to and the speakerphone is not on the side sorry when u are talking on yo fone all you have to do is hit ok twice and the speakerphone will come on. The button the side is to record stuff.

  • Umm sunny this phone IS the chocolate flip version

  • There is a speakerphone...I thought there wasn't one till I pressed the top half of the silver button on the right side (with the dot on it).

  • ya i have this phone. i think it is great. the only thing i dont't like is there is not a speakerphone and games that come with it. also i don't know the name if the cell phone!! help me!!! please tell me if you know!!! thanks!!

  • same prob... went to the dealer...and they did this thign to format your phones memory.... loo kfor it.. and it will be fixed

  • Yeah Ash, I'm having exactly the same problem and I don't think I even GOT a disk with mine. I want to transfer photos and put some MP3s on but I just can't figure it out. Help anybody?

  • Can anyone tell me in very simple terms how to transfer pictures from my phone to my laptop. Have tried all of the downloads on the disc but to no avail. Thanks

  • i have had this phone for about 5 months now and the charger has stopped working. anyone know why?

  • Being a fan of flip phones/clamshell phones, the LG U830 was a must have. I've had it for about 3 months so far and apart from looking really sleek, it has served me well. My only gripes about this mobile include the fact that its battery life is horribly poor. I haven't tried the slim battery that came with it but the bigger battery only lasts for about 3 days just on stand by mode! Based on that, its not surprising that the box came with two different batteries. The other thing that I wasnt too pleased about was the rather tinny sounding speaker. It's especially bad when the lid of the mobile is shut. Overall, it's a good mobile and I'm happy with it.

  • Does anyone know how many songs this phone holds? I have one on layby but now im not sure cos i mainly wanted it for the mp3 player but if it doesn't hold at least one hundred songs then i guess it's not the phone for me.

  • this a horrible phone, like all of LG mobiles, they have great design but their softwares are slow and lag a lot, samsungs' software is 10x better. not to mention, it has so many bugs that it's hard to describe, battery life is poor

  • I actually disagree about this phone not being good. I got it from Verizon and works good, the charging works, the quality sound, and well everything seems good to me!

  • my lgu830 came wit two batteries from 3 and i am having a problem with the charging .it can stay charging all day and never says its full just keeps charging away. and the speaker button is on the right on the c button.

  • I think many people miss out the obvious, this is mainly a 3 phone and looking at past 3 phones there had not been one this slim and nice looking, they have always been bolky. Also many people say about it not having a memory card slot, i was put of this at fist but after having one i have many songs and many pictures and it still isnt full!.. the design is great, and the feaures are good.. you cant expect a phone to have every thing.. that is still to come. clo

  • this phone is alright, but dont buy it your much better off buying a chocolate. dont trust SAGEM.

  • dana yes this does have speaker phone keep your finger on the c button.

  • This fone as compared to the earlier LG Choclate is not much better....that one was not only better in looks but the applications as well!!!!

  • Want to know what we thought of the U830 at Stuff.tv? Then check out the link below:

  • My sister has just picked this phone up. I dont see the problem here..You get 2 batteries..Like the gentleman said earlier..You get 2 batteries!. If you want music, Buy an ipod. If you want a brillaint camera, Buy a digital camera. If you want everything, Look at an Nokia E65 or a N95. U830 is a basic phone for people who have the basic needs. PHONING AND TEXTING PEOPLE.

  • Hi, when my u830 is open there is nothing on the front screen. Is there supposed to be? My u880 would have a 3 sign on it. It also seems to give me the option of selecting a picture for outgoing calls on the front screen but mine is just blank when the handset is open. Don't know if this is right or not...

  • when writing a msg is zero 0 the space? or what?

  • i want to ask.. can u put the phone on loudspeaker or not? thanks

  • Ya, that thing is nothing compared to the American Version. Ours is called the 8600 and it has a memory card slot and it is BAD ASS. Ours looks better too! SWEET!

  • Hey, my mob freeked out 2 times does anyone have anything to say about it?

  • This phone looked good but proved to be a real disappointment after I upgraded from my LG u880. * First of all the shock was no external memory! All I have now is 180mb which made me really annoyed as my 512mb transflash card was always full and I was thinking of 1Gb. What sort of upgrade is this !!! * Secondly there is no easy way to copy my java applications that I had backed up on my PC. The accompanying pc software only allows a few types of files (music and video etc). Only way is to connect using bluetooth. Not very convenient. * Thirdly this phone doesnt charge itself using USB. This is a real pain as the battery is very short lived and you cannot take the charger around. I might have to buy a second charger for office. I would have had it changed but was too late to ask for a replacement. Now I am stuck with it for one year. :-(

  • Hi, ive had this phone for about a week now, it did come supplied with 2 batteries, im using the slim line one and get about 3 days average use from it, its a nice phone just a pity it doesnt utilise a memory card, have to say from experience lg on 3 are far better for reliability than they used to be

  • great looking phone only one prob you canot hear it

  • there is a huge lack of help with this phone; i find the accompanying booklet to be sparse in details. Consequently, the phone can be, at times, quite difficult to use. However, once you learn the basics it becomes considerably easier to manage. One problem I have noticed is in the MP3 menu, the phone becomes significantly slower, and can this can prove to be quite irritating if you have a large number of songs. Also, the camera quality is apalling for such a new and expensive phone. I was disappointed with this. The sound, too, is also very muffled, and the quality is only improved when using the headphones supplied.

  • I've had this phone for over 2 months, and the only problem I have is that when I input contacts into the adressbook, a few days later some contacts have disappeared. It's starting to frustrate me. Has anyone else experienced this?

  • whats different between an lg u830 and a motorola razr maxx?

  • i got my lg phone from 3 and have used it for two days now, it was an upgrade. just remember if you have a upgrade you use your same sim card which means your cant take advantage of the new sim with i think they say as 1 gb of memorey, plus no card slot with this phone! music player not anything near as good as the nokia 6280.if you just want the phone for looks 10/10

  • does anybody know what to use the flash player for as i cant find anything to play on it?

  • How many people have ever seen a FASHION phone with all the features they wanted on it? I know I sure haven't, fashion will always bring compromises. This phone is a nice phone and I would say better than alot of other 3G phones that have come our way. It won't be to everyones taste so whats the point about whining that it doesnt have radio multi plex dolby or bluetooth version 5.37 million?? Looks nice, works fine, nicer than the u880.

  • i just got this phone... the speaker quality isnt that good and its only mono sound, and wen its turned up its crackly! its just a fashion accessory... keypad backlighting is white but not as bright as i wanted...

  • hey is this a good fone? i need a new ffone and im not sure what to get. help me please!!!

  • can anyone tell me how to use handsfree in the LGU830, the stereo handsfree that came with the phone doesnt seem to fit in the jack..please reply asap

  • hi just wondering if it really has stereo sound, and if so, does it sound loud when the phone rings. Is there more than one phone theme and what colour lights up on the keypads. thanks cobra.

  • Good points: HSDPA 800KBps Real D/L, 1GB MegaSIM(1st Phone Supports MegaSIM), QVGA, Macromedia Flash, Thin, Good looking, 2MP Camera, Multitasking Bad points: Sound, Not enough default contents, Poor ear-mic

  • No MicroSD card slot = crap handset from LG. My u880 is awesome and i was looking at also getting the u830 from 3 but after reading the specs and having a test run at the local 3 shop I won't be getting the u830 to compliment by u880. Other than no MicroSD card slot, its a very nice handset with easy to use menu interface (very similar to the u880) the fixed cam is way much better than the swivel u880 1.3MP cam and also the u830 has a VGA cam for Video Calls which bring it in line with the other fixed cam handsets. If LG revise there thinking and build it with a MicroSD card slot then they will have a major winning handset in the market but typical LG ... Oh well the u880 continues in service and works great with the temporary unlock to use it with Vodafone 3G/GPRS :-)

  • its sound is classical

  • great looking phone, wouldve been better if it had expandable memory... does anyone know if you can put phone accessories on it? /phone charms, etc.?

  • I got the LG choc, and i got two batterys with it.

  • They made beautiful phone with poor battery. No wonder, they never pass samsung market for their GSM phones.

  • no card slot, no EDGE support, "up to 2hrs talk time" (which means about a half hour in real life), bluetooth 1.1. LG always drops the ball, this handset is pathetic yet many of you are gullible enough to fall for chocolate design so this phone is rated highly. i also bet that the HSDPA is only like 1.8mbps. meanwhile you could go with the comparably priced Motorola RAZR maxx. 50mb internal with microSD card slot, 3.6mbps HSDPA, EDGE Class 10, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP stereo and a better keypad. looks better in my opinion. there is no comparison.

  • You need to get in touch with 3 if you only got one battery. Mine came from 3 with 2 - the standard & the extended.

  • I just got this phone on 3, so I can tell you it only comes with one battery and it's the slimline one. Great phone but the camera "flash" is useless.

  • uuuh hello... have you actually used the phone? i guess not. so you wouldnt really know how thin it is, therefor how small the battery would be. the pack also includes two batteries; one is smaller and fits flush with the shape of the phone. the other protrudes slightly and gives longer life. until battery technology improves (keep and eye on toshiba next year), that is all the battery life you can expect from a device this small. other than that, the phone looks incredible and is a lot more reliable than previous LG flips. regards andrew (hutchison 3 store owner)

  • we may as well go back to the stone age LG....

  • Pros: HSDPA is around 150Kbps on USB, quite stable and power-lasting!!! Cons: No Radio, No Memory Card Slot, BT is only v1.1!!!

  • Unbelievable it only has UP to two hours talk time. That's unacceptable.

  • i have just got this phone im not sure about it though, the mp3 player is very basic no eq ect,the maxisim sim card is unheard of by eveybody you ask plus it would of been nice to make the key pad light up red but the rest of the phone is ok(shame no radio still).

  • 2 hours talk time? ROFLMFAO!

  • looks nice, great features, nice and slim..very compact.

  • i prefer lgs rotating camera plus why didnt they put a radio on this one but have on the other chocolate flip?,also where do you get the 1gig sim card from that acts as external storage?

  • the talk time really sux

  • This phones also has a QVGA display 240x320

  • you can see that it also has flash for the camera
