Meizu 15 Plus - User Reviews

  • How is the pubg gaming? Smooth-highest fps setting? How many fps do you get? How much battery it consumes?

  • Hey i want to but Meizu 15 Plus, so can you tell me about this -Camera:Main camera and second main camera because in manual mod you can use 20 MP camera what about that in quality -Front camera at day and mostly at night -Music through 3.5mm jack what about loudness and EQ -How much SOT you get in normal use -Is it fast like S8-Note 8 -Did you have a chance to compare display in meizu with other premium brand.

  • Some more comments after using 15 Plus for almost one week. + Very good battery life. Get around 5-6 hours SOT during 24 hours use. Standby drain is 4 percent during the night (0.5 percent per hour) with wifi and sync on but bluetooth and gps off. I have previously owned Pixel 2 XL and you my feeling is that you get about the same battery life on 15 Plus. I think Pixel 2 XL was more frugal during standby but consumed slightly more battery during use (screen on). + It is not slippery at all It can be used without a case. +- As is said before, low light performance from the camera is very good. However, I feel that the daylight performance could be a bit better. Photos taken during daylight looks good in general but a bit too soft. - Performance is a mixed bag. Installing apps is very fast, speed when opening apps is average and I sometimes notice hickups and stutters in some apps, like google maps. All in all, a very good phone that would deserve better optimized software. Im currently on Flyme 7 stable from 28 september, perhaps the Flyme 7 beta from 30 october is faster. I haven't tried that one yet.

  • Got this phone yesterday. Bought it online for $340. Very original design with 16:9 screen and narrow bezels. The best thing? The low light performance of the rear camera is fantastic. Must be due to the combination of a big sensor (1/2.3-inch, 1.55µm) and OIS. Did not expect the camera to be this good. The stereo speakers is also crazy good. The only thing that is a bit disappointing is the performance, it got like 170 000 on antutu but it does not feel as fluid and snappy as you would expect. Probably due to poor optimization by Meizu. Not slow by any means but not "flagship fast".

  • Good for you. There's something for everyone in such a wide product range.

  • belive me, if you never had wide phone. you dont understand beauty of it. i had meizu mx4 phone before his time. and after buying xiaomi mi5s or any other not wide phone its like having a tv remote -.-

  • Crazy meizu no card slot,exynos ???? 500$ ???

  • Crazy meizu no card slot,exynos ???? 500$ ???

  • Does it have black color, maybe gray or even blue?

  • how about NFC, has it or not? bcs its flagship phone, it should have NFC.. predecessors models flagship of meizu had all of them NFC /all pro 5, pro 6 and pro 7 models)

  • Where is full review??? OP6 review so fast, but Meizu 15 still so long. Sad...

  • Yes, it doesn't have a micro-SD slot.

  • just noticed, gsmarena now says it doesn't have sd card slot. older reviews said it had one? so yes or no?

  • Tbh. Not sure anymore. It's around $560 here. Galaxy s9 is down to 600. Plus is 700.

  • yes bro. i'll go for Mate 10. because i think Meizu is bad for supporting updates. currently i own Mi Mix, which much heavier than Mate 10. so that's good! thanks!

  • It is not bad at all. The dealbreaker to me was the weight, it was to heavy for my wrist. Most people do not have any problems with the weight of Mate 10 so I dont think you should care too much about that. Mate 10 and Meizu 15 Plus costs about the same, personally I would go for the Meizu but you will probably be satisfied with Mate 10 as well.

  • oohh maann.. i'm just about to buy Mate 10. please tell me more about this. is it that bad?

  • The Exynos 8895 Octa scores 2x more over the SD660 on Antutu: E-240,000 SD-120,000

  • I had Huawei Mate 10 (non-pro) but sold it after using it for 1 week. The phone was too heavy and the UI is not as fast as phones with SD835. Battery life was good but not as as good as other phones with a 4000mAh battery. The camera on Mate 10 is very good but not best in class. I also did not like EMUI. 1 year ago I owned Meizu M3 Max, it had a crappy chip (Helio P10) and poor camera but the design and build quality was fantastic. I also like Flyme quite a lot. I will probably buy Meizu 15 Plus in a couple of months, I think the design is better than Mate 10, the camera might also be superior thanks to the 1.55um pixel size in the main sensor.

  • 1080p video recording @ how many fps??

  • Meizu 15 plus or Huawei mate 10 (non-pro)

  • You may like it but I prefer phones that are easy to hold and use in one hand, in portrait mode, so that means 75 mm max width, preferably less.

  • Umm, it's wide exactly in portrait mode, so WTF are you talking about? It's better exactly in portrait mode and that's exactly how it's used most of the time.

  • I would never buy a phone that was 78 mm wide, not when Samsung can give me a similar size display in under 70 mm. I can't see the point of a really wide phone unless you use it frequently in landscape mode, like a tablet.

  • I think this is a really nice design. It is a far better design over the many inspired by phones out there. I don't mind some bezels, it gives my fingers a place to rest without accidentally pressing something. As for the specs, well that's actually as good as it gets I believe. Meizu historically has been using affordable SOCs such as the Mediatek to lower it's costs. Therefore having a model that use SD 660 or an Exynos 8895 is a big step up. In any case I like where Meizu is heading, and its a step in the right direction. This is evident by the fact that you cannot find the Meizu 15 plus in stores both in B&Ms or online stores in China.

  • Anyone knows where you can buy this ?

  • Bravo for the real deal (16:9 ratio) big phones are used for videos. Everything is good on this phone exept the battery and the amoled. Lcd is more beautifull and as steve jobs said lcd has more resolution and detail than amoled. Also amoled has fake colours. People seem like wearing makeup. And the battery... I hope everyone follows the trend of xiaomi mi max 2 carying a 5300 milamp battery. This one could at least have a 4500 or 4200 cause it has a bettter resolution 1440p.

  • Meh, typical people who aren't tech junkies would say that. 18:9 aspect ratio is definitely the future for smartphone displays, but I would say that brands did it way too early; they should have stick to the 16:9 aspect ratio still instead of changing it to 18:9 aspect ratio. Most content on entertainment apps like YouTube support 16:9 aspect ratio, having a 18:9 aspect ratio display smartphone would only result in big black bars that looked like big ass bezels, even so when those users fill-in the display by zooming in, cropping the video, they aren't getting the full experience (It will only result in more blurry videos as compared to not filling-in), but those users will only be getting the cropped experience. Think, if 16:9 aspect ratio is still widely used for content, why not stick to that? This smartphone is almost as big as the GALAXY S9+ (Because the 6.2" 18.5:9 display of the GALAXY S9+ is almost equivalent to a 5.7" 16:9 display smartphone, a little bigger than the MEIZU 15 PLUS), but because this smartphone is using a 16:9 display, it doesn't require the user to fill-in, whereas the GALAXY S9+ needs to fill in, if it didn't fill-in it the video would look smaller than it is on this MEIZU smartphone. And with the help of the 16:9 display of the MEIZU, it is able to make use of the whole display with small bezels, and enjoy the full experience. I actually prefer brands to stay with the 16:9 aspect ratio, because it is possible to have a bezeless smartphone with a 16:9 aspect ratio display, plus with the majority of the content out there still being 16:9, u are getting the advantage here. 18:9 aspect ratio will only work well if majority of the content out there supports it, and this is why I say brands should have waited for a few years before putting 18:9 into their smartphone displays

  • 16.9 is most common video format. If you watch full-screen on your phone it fits perfect.

  • Because it is better.

  • 16:9, 2560x1440, ~494 ppi density - and this is the best display to date!

  • And it is right!

  • Why 16 : 9 display dimensions?

  • better than Note 8

  • I've been trying to understand why any OEM would offer a phone that is 78 mm wide. I can only think that it must be targeted at users who use their phone a lot in landscape mode. Great for them I assume but not for me.

  • They don't deserve costumers by any mean... U remember MX4? it was a best phone of the time. i mean litteraly best i owned it... Capable of android M (6.0)- stayed on 4.4 or now 5.1 i sold it when i didnt get update for 8 months... Next phone was MX5... No Android updates and worse camera and battery life than MX4... and so on... Now this... OK CPU is powerfull enough but 7.1 and release at the end of April 2018... So shameless. If they just followed MX4 footsteps they could be the best phone maker but no... MX4 had top and bottom bezel but almost havent at the sides... 75% screen to body was futuristic in 2014.. And now this... This is a shame seriously...

  • We will see the real price but i dont think it will be 475 USD.

  • Finally there is a 16:9 phone that is bigger than 5.5 inches besides Huawei Mate 10.

  • 18:9 is horrible. Thank god we still have 16:9 phones. No media ever will be mastered in 18:9 simply because it is not standard. All screen aspect ratios should reflect standards so that they don't distort or crop the media they'll be displaying. 18:9 was a horrible, terrible choice born out of deaf manufacturers who took the critiscism of too much bezels in phones and went overboard with re-designing and made this horrible mess called 18:9 (and its subsequent offenders 18.5:9, 19:9, 19.5:9, all other bat-sh*t crazy aspect ratios). No-one in this day and age that isn't using another standard like 12:5 (which "21:9" is extremely close to) should face the horrible thing that is having to crop or distort videos and images due to incompatible aspect ratios. I won't ever buy a phone that doesn't have a standarized aspect ratio.

  • I still have a feel that those are not the flagship models- those were always branded as "Pro" series by Meizu. All the flagships had NFC too. Was there any OFFICIAL information that those are indeed flagship devices? Meizu flagships were usually really strong specced- just look at specs of MX4 Pro, Pro 5, Pro6 etc - 15 Plus just doesn't fit their flagship line. Maybe a Pro 15 is actually being developed?

  • 水 mizu means water in Japan you are right bro

  • Don't you mean "mizu"? It's Japanese. Meizu is a Chinese company so it doesn't mean that much or care about what's derived.

  • Meizu means water yet not water proof lol!!!!! you dont deserve it "Meizu" >:) just like (NEVER STIELE) from ONEPLUS };$)

  • how do you think they fit the "flyme OS"? they all ready designed it back in the nought days

  • at least it is functional aluminum back and thick edge provide a great deal of grip and durability (still not water proof) the DUAL GLASS sandwich is gimmicky BULL$HIT think god meziu is not a trand follower if you don't believe me then why don't you buy a Sony Xperia XZ2 ;$) try not to cry when you drop it TOT oh and DON'T USE A CASE that will cover it's beautify ;$)

  • TOTALLY agree may the lack of 60fps FHD/headphone jacks/and the NOTCH "trand" DIE!!!

  • 2160p fps30 1080p fps? lol TOTALLY 30fps :P even tho the Exynos 8895 should be FULL capable of recording 2160p at 60fps (or AT LEAST 1080p on fps60) also were is the 720p fps240? the new trand that NO ONE have notice

  • Android version - yes, but it costs half the price of s9, so last year cpu is not that bad.

  • Wow!I need this phone!Very good job Meizu! Best Regards from Slovakia!

  • ...aaand we're back to boring designs.. Same rectangel glass slab like we've seen the last 10 years..Even the P20 lite got slim bezel (even though with notch)wich looks so much more modern and futuristic. This design is as exciting like stale bread with water.. Buy Huawei P20 Lite instead!! At least that looks new!!

  • But the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is only about 75 mm. I don't see any excuse for a wider phone, not in 2018 unless it is virtually tablet-size.

  • Other than marginal screen size decrease from a size I'd prefer, this is very excellent phone. To me, this is a successor to the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016). The design is more eccentric, yet conservative. I'd use Meizu phone if I ever could afford one.

  • It is a 16:9 aspect ratio

  • Good timing as I'm starting to shop for a new phone. But also waiting for word on the One+ 6. That is supposed to work from Verizon from what I read, but who knows. Any word on the Meizu working for Verizon?

  • This had good specs for its price, really! Good job Meizu!

  • At least it doesnt have that annoying curved display like s8 s9

  • You do realize that this is a 16:9 display, unlike the two samsung devices you mentioned, as such it is wider.

  • This phone is waaay too wide!! Compared to Galaxy S8 and S9 with similar display sizes - under 70 mm and this Meizu phone is over 78mm wide. Crazy. I was thinking I might consider this phone but anything in 2018 of that display size has to be max 75 mm wide. Unless it is a misprint in GSMArena??

  • Actually you read that wrong it was 4k at 30 fps

  • Is there other phone with OIS + EIS on main camera because meizu 15 plus not only put very big sensor and it stabilized it......but we will see what to expect because i have pro 5 and daylight is one of best but low light hmmmmmmm.

  • Android 7.1.2 last year processor what a flagship

  • also it has stereospeakers

  • Its announced at CNY3000 which is around USD 475/- Hehe

  • "1080p@30fps" main camera, really Meizu?!? that's a shame for a flagship of any kind.

  • Well maybe you will be surprised a big time.

  • with that kind of specs, impossible With an OLED display and an exynos 8895, very very unlikely

  • Man as i know the Meizu they can sell it for 200 or up to 250 eur no more.

  • There is no way they are gonna sell this anything below at least 400

  • What no? Show me better phone for same or lower price. Maybe you dont know but not everybody wants or need to bin 1000 euros for S9+ or apple junk.

  • no

  • For 200 it have good specs and camera.
