Meizu PRO 5 - User Reviews

  • The pro 5 is just a beast of phone, the cameras is both great at day but at night you need manual mod and don`t forget even front camera have manual mod.but i have a problem with pro 5 i use them about an year and then suddenly it doesnt charge fast how i put a 5v/1a charger but i use oem charger and fast chargeing stop working and now it need 5 hours to charge fully but battery lasts more than 5h SOT

  • A good phone isn't just about the specs. While the hardware is rivaling the S6, this device wont give you anywhere near as much freedom to fully make use of it. There are no tools such as Odin and there is a lack of documentation, which makes it problematic to develop or install custom roms for instance. This alone wouldn't be that bad since there used to be tools to recover your phone but for some reason those are incompatible now with recent firmwares. This makes it rather easy to partially (i.e. losing recovery) or fully brick your device. If you are an enthusiast, think hard if you go cheap or buy a device from a brand which actually has your needs covered.

  • the ram is 4gb but the battery below 3100 mah..anyone can give comment about it..tq

  • Try manual mode, then x600 is useless,i said this because i have x900 and pro 5, front camera is better on x900

  • Been using Meizu again after switching many smartphones for reviews...so far, they're still my favourite. Hoping their baseband would expand better in the following years to come.

  • i was have the leeco x600 and now 5 pro...must say: the camera of 5 pro sucks!! my x600 2014 was better camera!

  • If you get rid of the Flyme OS the Meizu pro 5 it's is 10x better than any smartphone before the S7 series and it was much cheaper at that. battery life if phenomenal, typically i go 2 days before i have to charge it (google search meizu pro 5 ROM& goto xda-developers for help changing the OS the flymeOS) Currently running the unofficial Cyanogen Mod on mine

  • Absolutely it is!! I've buy one two months ago. No regret!

  • Pls anyone tell if this phone are still worth it to buy today??

  • so far the best smartphone i have...

  • My guess would be because of Exynos and Flyme. I have Meizu M2 note which I say, it last longer than 1 day. That's pure music, wifi, messenger, games (ppsspp) - real Racing - beach buggy and clash of clans. Usual mode is Balanced (6cores running) and 50 - 25% Brightness. End of day 30+%

  • best smartphone camera I use, my smartphone forever

  • probably because it uses exynos. all exynos device have better battery life than snapdragon. mediatek is worst.

  • You can purchased that at Lazada. It is now available.

  • It's not available here in the Philippines. I've been looking for this but I could not find one.

  • Yes, it's pretty easy

  • dual standby

  • from where did you buy it? does it come with google play services? does it support OTA updates? thanks.

  • Hello guys, Can you please tell me if this phone is "dual sim full active" or just "dual sim stand by" ? When you use the phone in dual sim mode and you are talking on "line 1" and someone is calling you on "line 2" do you receive the call or the phone is busy? I'm planning to buy the 64G version 4G RAM and the answer is very important for me. For example I had Huawei Honor 6 Plus and that phone was dual SIM full active (had 2 separate antenna) Thank you! Andrei

  • The screen size is irrelevent when on stand-by. The screen is turned off so it wouldn't draw any power from the battery, right?

  • Probably this happens because you have imported version from China.I have EU version so no Chinese present. Check it out

  • Why does the screen size matter if it's standby time? Screen would be off

  • f*ck the hybrid sim card slot system ????

  • Full ubuntu desktop support, now with OTA-12

  • Hmmm.....how can a 3000mah on 5.7 stanby almost 95 hours???? Hmmm interesting

  • Check this item at widgetcity hub or kimstore in Facebook

  • Good information about the Meizu Pro 5. It is gorgeous and exquisite flagship device. It has bigger screen & greatest camera. Meizu Pro 5 exactly those features over the MX5. Plus.

  • This design has been growing from the very first Meizu Mx in 2012 and has been refined over time without losing the original idea. MX3 was out 2013 and MX4 in 2014 almost the same time with the iPhone 6 and 6plus. It still was not that different from it older sibling. So I wonder who is copying after all. Go figure...

  • yeah i hate hybrid sim

  • I like this phone actually... but i don't want to buy meizu because they use slot sim card for sd card ...i want to use 2 sim card and sd card together...

  • hi, just want to know, is this available in Philippines? if available where or what online shop can i buy this meizu pro 5? and how much is this..thanks, looking forward for this..

  • i would like to know why we can not change everything in english that's the thing i don't like bc some of them still stay in chinese

  • meizu pro 5 or lenovo vibe x3?

  • Hi. Anyone here knows how to use the fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone? Thanks

  • Hi, ur opinion is wrong about Samsung, it doesn't copy the design from iPhone, and even features as well. It doesn't mean copy if Mercedes fly And so BMW can fly too, if they figure out how, thats like for mobile phone features

  • If it had 1440p display it would be much much better than note 5

  • We wait this phone in Turkey. In our country(Turkey) mx5 is sold for 480$. Taxes are very high...

  • i learned they always have some sort of problems with apps...i dont use snapchat

  • Anyone know if the latest Flyme UI has issues with apps such as Snapchat? I had an MX5 and had issues with the display being distorted and the presence of a 'black bar' down the bottom of the camera which ruined image quality (weird proportions)

  • I was also expecting Meizu Pro 5 to launch in India.....but they disappoint me.....Hope they launch Meizu Pro 6...

  • Why isn't it available in India till now......I hope meizu pro 6 will be launched in India soon

  • Thx..

  • Try meizufans.eu for firmware

  • ubuntu is great my friend...go for itt..chak de fattee!

  • Hi can someone tell me whete, how and which update do i have to use for my pro 5 right now i'm with. 84.5.4a soft version.. Thx at front!

  • me 2 i am here just for this question plz if u got it give us your experience :D

  • No one here has used the ubuntu version....... ? Actually i.m very eagered to use the new OS but. Need to know the pro and cons of ubuntu because i've never used an ubuntu smartphone before.........

  • Maybe not; from Meizu MX 2, Meizu phones keep this line of design. Iphone copy Meizu...

  • Everything about this phone is great except kinda lacklustre camera and those huge bezels. I hope next time they will reduce those bezels.

  • It won't:

  • Meizu PRO 5 mini when will be available?

  • Hi , where i could find MPN Numbers for Meizu and Elephone devices ? Is anyone aware of that ? Thanks in advance. Great device indeed .

  • Meizu also releases the same with Ubuntu Touch, why no version phones with unbutu touch or Sail Fish OS are list in the site. For lone time seeing not much info on other OS expect android, iOS are seen here

  • Good reply. Your English is good..

  • Huawei Mate 8 have better camera. M Pro 5 is a beautiful device you get much for the $. What i dont like is the camera, not good. Im now used to my mine and i like it very much.

  • Hello again. I bought Meizu pro 5 more from curiosity than actual need. I wanted to have to my hands one of the phones that I see at the top of Antutu benchmarks. Well my friends. This is a piece of art. Wonderfull design, incredible build quality, wonderful screen and absolutely crazy speeds... This is an amazing smartphone. Playing even at the most heavy games is just like sending an sms. It never gets hot.A little warm many but not hot. Accurate GPS, fast wifi, wonderful battery life. I really can't find anything bad to say about this phone. Excellent rear camera, very good selfie camera, the single speaker is good enough for a single speaker. Because I am fan of finding bad things I will say what are the things that I didn't like. I would like a little smaller screen. 5,7" is a little bigger than a single hand can manage. I also would like an IR blaster. What about dual front speakers? It doesn't support special characters for Multi language sms like Greek, Polish etc. Also a little cheaper. 500 Euros are pretty expensive for a china phone. Well. I can't find something else. I believe that if someone don't care about the things that I mentioned above this phone is a piece of art... Always sorry for my pure English.

  • Hey there I'm looking for a high end dual-SIM phone and the Pro5 popped up on my screen. I'm not decided yet, also considering the Huawei Mate 8, don't know yet which one will turn out to be a better choice (any suggestions?) But although I researched the manufacturer's web site and several forums for information I still couldn't find out: Is it possible to operate one SIM1 with an always-on data plan and still receive phone calls on SIM2 while being online? As far as I found out in the opinions about the Mate 8 on this web site, is capable of that. But how about the Meizu Pro5? Does anyone have the ability to test that or can refer to some official source? Appreciate your help a lot! Best regards, Andy

  • Before say something use it first.the camera is good but not the best it have high noise when in dark and sometimes es blurrr.in day sometimes it overexpose but sometimes great I have it I know but I change to LG g4 because I want a better camera rear and front.pro5 maybe good for beginner like u

  • I've bought this awesome phone about 3 weeks ago. It's very classy first of all. Design is very nice. Well built. As for performances...nothing that bad I can say about it. Everything you want it delivers. In antutu v 6.0.4. it gave me 84095 points. It's the 3Gb Ram and 32Gb Rom version, but it is more than enough for me. Battery is ok. I mean I haven't watched movies from start to end on it, didn't have time. But with 100% in the morning with relative browsing and ocassionaly phone calls + 1h of gaming in total after 8hours it is at ~70% left. I'm satisfied with this phone and would not trade if for something else atm

  • Design is copy of iphone 6s plus.

  • Hi. I'm wondering about how good is the battery life. How long does it last in real application in Stand-by Time, Talking Time, and Browsing Time?

  • Technically it's great, but when used in actual, it's really a disappointment.

  • Got my Pro 5(64gb, black/gray) 2 weeks ago. Pro: Fast processor Good battery life Great sounds Finger print sensor is accurate User Friendly gestures Cons: Poor camera (dull images) Poor display (Yellowish and dim) Compatibility of some applications (FB messenger not fully supported after update) Google Playstore is not pre installed. Zombie tsunami will automatically become chinese version after installing the english version from play store. Glitch in the sound when liking a facebook post while listening to music via earphones. Limited Accessories. Otg for usb type is hard to find. This phone is really faulty. This is a waste of money, unless meizu would fix the camera algorithm and the other bugs.

  • I have not gotten a hold of this phone yet, but looking at its specs, im simply impressed! But with different views and opinions around, for me it is just a matter of personal preference at the end of the day. But let us not forget that we cannot avoid some defects from unit to unit, that is why experiences vary from one to the other...

  • After having used this phone for quite some time now, I have the following comments: Pros: 1. Battery life (I didn't get the 95 hours endurance rating like in the gsmarena test, but anyway it's better than many phones out there now) 2. Lovely design and build quality 3. Flyme OS 5 (after the upgrade) is a joy to use, it's my favourite OS on top of Android 4. Top notch performance (with Flyme 5 is virtually "flying") Cons: 1. Display quality disappointing (screen turns bluish when tilted and sometimes all colours of the rainbow) 2. Camera overexposes all pictures even in normal light conditions, pictures are "burnt" in the sunlit areas - this is a huge disappointment, low light is miserable - producing a lot of noise and unreal, cartoony artifacts, selfie cam is very poor as well I would not include as a con some of Flyme bugs and omissions which the development team might be working on it. So my advice is that if you can overcome the cons, you might be very pleased with this phone, I just couldn't and sold it already. I just don't know why gsmarena team portrait it as the best phone on the planet. On the other hand, there's not too much alternative out there.

  • hi vindictive666, Thanks a lot for your suggestion, I am looking it right now:) Cheers

  • Meizu has better specs but is more pricey. The question is, do you really need so much power of a cpu in your cellphone or not? If you play games choose the Meizu. If not, choose MOTO X STYLES.

  • This or Motorola Moto X Style?

  • You can buy where I bought it from: www.meizumart.it, but I don't know about custom duties outside EU. Apart from that you will get free shipping.

  • Hi Fazid/All, may I know where to buy this phone from good and trusted online store? I am also from Malaysia. it's very difficult to find the trusted store. anybody can suggest, please? Thanks

  • You're absolutely wrong about the camera of this handset . Meizu uses the PRO 5 Sony IMX 230 sensor in its most updated version with picture quality and stunning video ! See story on the comparison of the cameras between 5 Galaxy Note vs LG V10 vs Nexus 6P vs Meizu Pro 5, this site . Meizu put the very best in this handset such as build quality, screen, processor, and especially battery life , reaching 95H in gsmarena test. Before talking about a device , technically known about it.

  • So this phone is a samsung galaxy s6 edge plus with a different os and a diffrent display but so while in the samsung galaxy s6 edge plus its curved display and its 2160p on meizu pro 5 its 1080p and its not curved but the difference in price is huge the meizu pro 5 costs 412€ wile the s6 edge plus costs 799€ fir the same storage and ram configuration while i think that the meizu pro 5 its better because of the price if you dont mind the lack of curved display and display res and design i would recommend the meizu pro 5 (oh my god 300 € difference for only the bump on display res and curved edges and design ). :(

  • You can check at the upgrade app. It will tell you what version of firmware you are running. If it's an A, then go upgrade to Flyme 5 already! :)

  • Thanks. Maybe i fixed that time freeze problem. I downloaded Amber weather from google play it looks like working now. I could not locate my city i can now. Do you know how i can determine what version of the phone i have? A or I . All i know is i have M576 . Bought on aliexpress. I forgot to tell them put flyme 5 on it.

  • hey, im from malaysia, bought the phone through an online distributor. Regarding your isse with widget, you can go to the security app and allow your widget to work in background. Restart your phone and voila, works like magic :) anyway, for me the phone is superb in most area, usability, battery, power...but Flyme should improve on their native apps such as contacts, messaging etc...their native apps mostly only usable in China, however such feature if can be used outside china would be amazing such as the yellow pages in the contact app..otherwise, im quite happy with what i get :)

  • I have this phone for almost a month now, and the screen is really good. It can get really dark, and really bright, no problems under sunlight, and also no problems in the middle of the night, even if the screen is "only" 1080p it is very sharp, I don't know when it going to India, but you can buy on eBay.

  • A version is Chinese, so unfortunately not. Flyme 5 still hasn't been released for 'I' firmware.

  • can any experienced user comment on its display quality and does anyone know when is it coming to india???

  • Thanks. I did what you said and i scored 92034. it worked. My flyme version: flyme os 4.5.4.1A . Not international version right?

  • Don't stress to much that your on 4.54 vs 5.1.1 you are really not missing out on too much. Eventually you will get the latest update. I would rather stick to the older is sometimes in certain cases even though I can assure you that you be disappointed on flyme 5.1.1 I remember updating my Motorola droid turbo from Android kitkat 4.4.4 to lollipop 5.1. It ruined my phone the battery life was draining like crazy. It was a disaster. This is also a common issue for people on the apple iOS when then updated to the newer iOS. So trust me always let others trial the is for at least a month before you update. Cheers

  • Hi Boller I believe you might have a different flyme os then the one I have. When I received my version it had slot if Chinese text bullshit on it. Another words I believe it might be the flyme made for the Chinese in China and not the international version. However I do have the option to change text to certain languages. I am able to update to flyme 5.1.1 I believe some of you guys have the international version which does not give you the option to update automatically. But I am sure you will be able to root the phone and do a manual install. As far as your 70k vs 90k. To be able to achieve the 90k. Go to settings under power management change your mode to performance. And this should definitely increase your speed to 90k on antutu. I hope this helps. Cheers

  • please tell us when you do and how. This is why it is not clean international yet.

  • Ok so i have the pro 5 64gb for 2days now. First day i found out what flyme version i had and if it was up to date. It dont have latest one ,im stucked with 4.5. System could not find any update. One of my question is where do i find out flyme version again? and search for update. I know it sounds wierd i cant find it again. I would like to have the latest version. I also did antutu test and first i got 20k someting, i tried again then i got 70k something .For the last test this is 20k point below the one on the scorelist. So how do i get 90k points? I did some test with ookla speedtest . To see check out my netspeed . This phone comes with cat 6= 300mbps/50mbps . With my Htc E8 i get an average speed of 10mbps down, but with pro 5 its between 5-7 mbps down. I tried many times and it varies too much imo. Just to tell i have free use of data from my carrier. Not on contract. Something im very pleased over. So where they have LTE i have it too, free of use. Im trying to get used to the phone. I can say that for me the build quality is super. The flyme os 4.5 is not something much i would speak out loud about. There are simple things im used to from htc m7 and e8. Phonebook, message app are poor on pro 5. Browser that comes with it is poor. Weather app coming with the phone is poor too. For me those are simple basic apps that should be improved alot. I installed a weather/clock app that i like to have on my homescreen ,something i had on my HTc phones. But what is weird here is the time dont work with the phone. When i add the widget to homescreen it shows right time but after maybe 5min its not moving forward. I did not experience this with my htc ,anyone else having this problem? solutions? The sound is not so bad,if it had double speakers this could be better than HTC sound. With headphones im not super impressed. HTc again is better on this. I want hear this Hi Fi sound 2.0 they selling the phone with/listed. The line in for headphones should be placed at the bottom of the phone not at the top. Think this is a big downside .I feel that is way better. I have not tried the camera so much, took a selfie . I think my htc and even ipod 5g take better selfie pics. Color are not so bright/warm,more like cold i think. I tried to shoot a vid. Could not see the 2160p option. Is it listed to play 2160p ,or and film in 2160p too? I hope i get flyme version 5 ,maybe it is better, improved. Imo the biggest issue with this phone is flyme. I wish it was clean android.Could make the phone top notch. And clean international version, there are some chinese text here and there. -chinese apps that is totally useless for me. I like i can tap on the screen to wakeup the phone(settings) ,the fingerprint is great. I can choose to unlock the phone with my finger or code at the same time. calling/sound mod need to be improved alot. Sound button should also be able to put the phone on vibrate. This is something im used from HTC. I think the screen is great. I must say i almost love it. All in all the phone have alot of potential ..the frame/design is great. It's up there with samsung and apple. Great and solid build quality. It's is a big phone and take time to get used to it. But im feeling it more and more. Going from 5" to 5.7" is a big change. Fast charge and usb c is great. For 483usd in total and no tax, it is worth the money.

  • Regarding the Audio test. I would like to know if you actually used the dedicated Hifi D/A. It is weird, but Meizu chose to let it only run when some specific apps are running music. If you want to use the D/A e.g. for Spotify, PlayePro, ... you need to add the packagename to one specific textfile (google for more info). When I am listening to music the stereo effect seems to be perfect, and also the overall sound quality is impressive. I guess the reviewer tested only the standard D/A instead of the Wolfson/TI one.

  • Which country are you located in. They have stung you $190 in taxes. We are lucky here in Australia they don't have taxes on items unless they are over $1000. It sounds weird that you are not able to update to flyme 5. I would be looking at manually doing a download. I think it will hopefully makes some if the issues go away. I understand how you feel. When you pay so much for a phone you expect not to have the issues that you have had. This automatically gives you a negative view and turns you off about that brand or product. I still strongly feel that the Chinese brands are amazing and have improved drastically and have better options and features that the well known brands are missing. One feature is that you even mentioned such as fast charge. Man you pay over $1000 for an iPhone it doesn't have a fast charging. Yes all phones have positives and negatives. I am a very picky person and look for problems and like to solve ways to overcome to suit my user functionality. If I am convinced and am not convinced or happy as it won't meet my expectations I will get rid of it. Currently this handset has worked for me and I am pretty happy with the outcome. I hope you can resolve your problem and enjoy using it also. Best of luck. Thanks

  • You do know that you can install google now launcher or nova launcher, and get app drawer back, right? How can you type "no app drawer" as a con. Have you ever used android before?

  • Thank you for your reply. First of all, here is an image, proving that I own the device: The device costs about 450$ for the 64gb version but because of the customs and taxes, the price went up to about 640$. I have used the device for quite a while now and I just can't get used to its size and to the interface. It's too much "iOSish" and I like the android style with app drawers. Perhaps things have changed in the Flyme 5, I did not experience this version yet. When I search for an update in my device, it says that the device is up to date with version 4.5.4.2I. Plus the Meizu did not recognize and SD card I've put inside, and I had to format it because it messed it up. I lost a lot of pictures in the process because the card was corrupted (I have a picture of it too, if you do not believe me) I have no intention to move people away from buying this device. I think a decent device overall, I just cannot get used to it. The battery is great (also charges up super fast), audio quality is good (even though it's not as par as the HTC One M8 for example), camera is average to good. Low light is mediocre though, but it's typical for cameraphones. For someone who wants a device that looks and feels like an iPhone 6 plus without it actually being an iPhone, it's a nice deal. Buying from Chinese OEMs is something I am going to avoid from now on though.

  • Which version on antutu are you using. I downloaded antutu 6 and got a score of 90k on flyme 4.5.4 and then I downloaded flyme 5 and got a score of 87k. I have the 4gb phone. Would that be a reason I have a much higher score . The hunger mate 8 was the only higher one at 92k. I was amazed. I would love to put up a screen shot but it won't allow me.

  • Yes flyme 5 is very good in battery life. Is definitely better than flyme 4.5.4

  • Coming from a oneplus one I could not find any handset that would satisfy the oneplus one as a replacement. I have tried other handsets from the droid turbo iPhone 6 and the Samsung s6. I just wasn't convinced and fully happy with any of them to battery issues, heating, practicality and other things like sound volume and simplicity of functions. Until now. I have been using this meizu pro 5 for 3 days now and can say I am impressed. No it's not a perfect phone. It definitely needs improvements. However it is very stable and made me feel satisfied and happy on its flyme 5. Coming from cynogen 12.1 I was very impressed. Apart from some Chinese apps running in the background and occasional Chinese text popping up which I need to figure out how to remove. I can say this phone is on my favourite list for now. Meizu has really amazed me. Also the people who are worried about the phone being 5.7 inch and being to big. I had the same concern. But really it's is not bigger than the iPhone 6 plus or any 5.5 inch screen even though it has a larger screen. In reality a phone should not be bigger 4 inch that's why the iPhone 5 had the best in hand feeling. But these days we use our phones for web browsing and watching videos YouTube or playing games so it's no longer just a phone but a mini computer. So 5.7inch I think is a perfect size for me anyway. 😀

  • You cannot compare the meizu camera to the note 5 or even the note 4. Samsung makes one of the best camera phones. The only phone that I found to have a better than the note 5 camera was my old Nokia 1520 camera. Saying that the Nokia 1020 also has an amazing camera. Samsung best camera is on the s4 zoom I believe. But that has a real zoom camera on it 😀 One more thing in reality mega pixels isn't everything. We dont think the meizu pro 5 having a 21mp camera should be better than 16mp camera. I would give the meizu pro 5 camera a 6 out of 10. Where as I would give the Samsung note 5 camera a 8 out of 10. This is just my opinion and others will see and can think differently as there taste will be different. I am not a professional photographer but I am graphic designer that has 20years of experience working and editing photos in photoshop. So I hope I have not offended anyone 😁

  • Sorry but I don't agree with your review. Firstly you paid too much. $600 is way too much. You can buy the 64mb version with 4gb under $500 from slot of the suppliers online. I purchased my for $495 from honorbuy.com and no I don't work for them in 😀

  • Sorry my post was finished. Secondly I am on flyme 5.1.1 and getting and easy 8 hours + of screen time watching video web browsing and general calls messaging and emailing. It's sound like your hand has massive issues or it's a fake or an imitation model. The flyme is amazing and very stable. Man what bugs. I feel sorry for you and don't believe your review is genuine and strongly would advise people who are invested in this handset to consider reading other reviews and watching YouTube videos. I know the phone is still very new and not probably well reviewed in English as I could not find very helpful reviews and comparison in English. The only week side to this phone I would say is the camera compared to the high end brands like the iPhone 6s or Samsung s6. But it's definitely better than the other brands in many other ways. Especially for the cost compared to the other brands. I am not Chinese but can say the chinese phones have really improved and are not behind the known brands that we are made to buy believing that we can not go wrong with them where as they have have gone downhill and have the same software and other hardware issues that all phones and devices have. Don't forget all the phone companies use exactly the same hardware processors and rams and gorllia glass. They just use low end or high end processors and quality components depending on the model of the phone and price they have it for sale. The only handset that uses a different processor is apple and they have severe heating issues on the a9 processors which they use on the iPhone 6s phones. There are also of negative points that they force the user to cut back on features due to baterry consumption. This a joke you pay $1000 for a phone and can't use half of its functions due to trying to save battery life. Anyway I am getting off the topic. Meizu pro 5 has a heap of features you will not get in the flagship models in today so market. Meizu pro 5 won't disappoint and is worth every penny you pay for it. 😀

  • Yes flyme 5 is very good in battery life. Is definitely better than flyme 4.5.4

  • smaller and more power consummating screen, smaller screen to body ratio, less powerful CPU, no hi-fi sound and DAC...

  • Its a good device but it is too pricey .Yu Yutopia has same features with reasonable price

  • I have been owning this phone for more than 24 hours now and here is my detailed experience with the phone: Bought it from a local retailer for about 600$. My first impression was that the phone is really HUGE. The screen is big and bright, has great colors (even though it's colder than other screens, even after I calibrated it). I thought that I could get used to the size (my Samsung S3+ looks like a toy next to it) but sadly, I can't. It's too big in the pocket and even though I have big hands, I find it hard to handle. I think that Meizu should have went with a 5.5" screen (which is still to big for my taste), 5.7" is just too big for a phone! It's about the same size as the iPhone 6+. Build quality is overall good. The phone has some weight to it, and you can feel its presence. Side buttons do move in their place though, I really don't know how to describe it better but the power button is not solid. The home button is squishy, the fingerprint scanner is a hit or miss. Sometime it says "fingerprint mismatch" and I have to place my finger again so it would register. Also, it only recognizes your finger only in the direction you put it. I mean, if you put your finger horizontally, but tried to unlock it vertically, it wouldn't register! You have to put the finger in the same exact location you have configured it with. Also you only have 5 fingers to register (I think that most phones have 10). Flyme OS is buggy and unintuitive. I have the Flyme OS v. 4.5.4.1 and it's really hard to get used to. My father has the M2 Note so I knew the basics of the operating system, but moving from a TouchWiz OS I am having a hard time without the app drawer. It resembels the iOS (which I strongly dislike), but much more hefty. The gallery is incredibly uncomfortable, giving folders chinese names (even though they're named in English in my SD card) and it's hard to move between pictures since the fact that when you slightly rotate your two fingers when trying to pinch, the picture rotates. Also my SD card was not recognized by the device, so I had to erase everything from it and recopy all of the data. The battery is great. I have used the phone for more than 3 hours continously and it went down by almost 20%, which is great. Brightness is excellent, much more brighter than my previous i9305 device. One thing that matters to me te most, is music. Unfortunately, the music player is horrendous. Searching for a certain song takes A LOT of time, if it even finds it eventually. Also you have to choose "Library" every time you enter the player and then you get the "artists, albums" etc. and it's really uncomfortable. Audio output was decently loud, even after enabling DAC. I think that the HTC Desire Eye (which I thought of buying and eventually passed on) produced much better sound quality through headphones. Speaker volume is alright, even though you notice some "creaks" on higher volumes. The phone is blazingly fast though, everything happens in a matter of a second with the Exynos chipset and even though there's 4GB of RAM, RAM management is pretty bad. I had about 1.9 RAM left after closing all apps, I think that the OS uses much more RAM than it should (hopefully it'll be fixed with the Flyme 5 update). I played a lot and did not experience any overheating. The camera is good in daylight, I had some great pictures from it, but it's absolutely horrible at night. Pictures went blurry and undetailed and it was really disappointing to see because I had high hopes for the camera. Also it takes a while to focus sometimes, even with the laser autofocus. The LEDs are bright enough to produce enough light for dark photos. Overall, even though this phone is pretty good, I wouldn't recommend it. My experience with it was not that good, and this is my first chinese phone which isn't the the grand OEMs and I have to say I am really disappointed. I actually wanted to return it but the retailer said that I can't because I've already used it. If you're comfortable with the size, it is worth thinking about, but the buggy OS and the price (at least at where I live), are not worth it. Meizu should really work on their interface, until then. I can't say it's a good buy. Thanks for reading :)

  • LOL... unhappy Samy or Apple user on board (c) happy and satisfied MEIZU user

  • Does Flyme 5 make the device better than Flyme 4.5.4? in terms of battery life, stability, performence and bug fixing?

  • To attract customers, loser oems like meizu, oppo, blu, and yu copy from popular oems like sammy and apple. Too bad for them they can't be equal to them. They make themselves more losers every time they release a phone.

  • PRO 5 user for 3 weeks OS: Item came with Flyme OS 4.5.4 out of the box. Coming from Huawei, seamed that MEIZU has primitive configuration features in comparison to Hueawei, but then updated to Flyme OS 5.1.1.0 and changed my mind. At the beginning was hard to get use to Flyme, but it is only measure of time. Hardware: fingerprint sensor - wow, battery - wow, screen - wow, speed - wow, I even say that camera isn't bad at all - it depend what you compare it to. p.s. my first touchscreen phone was MEIZU M8, MEIZU PRO 5 is my latest, and I`m loving it

  • 4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500) - M576 model

  • Does it have LTE Band 20?

  • Any comments about the camera? Better or worse than G4/Note 5 ? thanks!

  • i think if your usage was gaming 24/7 then u will kill the phone ( 100 to 0 ) in about 4 hours but for my usage its about 6 hours or more screen on time / one charge per day only

  • he/ she had not have :D anyway the only gripes for this PRO5 so far is the front camera so grainy and fuzzy that even without zooming you can actually see the image isnt right

  • Nice lie you said you have note 4,g4,z3,s6 edge+ and mi note pro then you buy mx5 and what you do with all those phone?nice lie

  • Nexus 6p or meizu Pro 5

  • Definitely the meizu is much better in battery life withou any doubt. I had the note 4 and i charge it twice a day with my usage but the meizu once a day and the battery consumption is far superior than the note 4.

  • Hello bro,pls how is the batt life of this device like compared to note 4? Im just stuck between choices of phone precisely note 4 and meizu pro

  • It works really good with EE 4G+. Super quick!!!

  • I can even use 4G+ by EE in Bath. Super quick!

  • i have the meizu pro 5 for three days now.. the battery is very super.. i'm blogger.. i used the the phone very excessively.i'm a veavy user... is so fast.. very sleek in the hand.. it even slip from my hand.. it's even scratch at the bottom..but the device is so good.. the phone has the most easy way of rooting the phone... the antutu benchmark i got is 72978.. the sound is loud and very clear.. the video clarity is so amoled.. the camera is very cool.. and the flyme 5.5.11.24a beta is usable for daily use... for more information visit..

  • Hello, will this work on T-Mobile's LTE network?

  • yeah m8.. very expensive phone...

  • Some Chinese phones have excellent sound quality - Some Vivo and ZTE phones have DAC sound chips and decent output power. For serious portable audio, you will need to buy a separate music player from A&K, iBasso, Fiio etc. A simple portable amp will greatly improve sound output on any phone. Cozoy has some with a built-in DAC.

  • It just got beat by the 950-CPU Huawei Mate8... That phone scored 90K on Antutu.

  • Just want to add that if you root the device( you can actually do this in the flyme account settings in the device) and remove the stock unnecessary Chinese apps you can near enough double the battery life, I am usually getting 2 days of use (mainly 4gg data and WiFi rather than actual calls) before Icharge. The pro 4 is rated to 60 hours by gsmarena. This PRO 5 is rated to 90; battery should be very very impressive, considering how long i get from my device. You can expect a great camera in well lit conditions but a pretty average one in low light. Audio quality and volume are exceptional, especially at the price point I any comment on the other features as they have been updated since the pro 4.

  • Hey people what do u think about the most expensive smartphones on the market? iphone and samsung are really the best phones? iphone has a perfect os,it works in the same way by the years, this lucks on the androids.but androids have other pluses

  • that was something i was curious, the sound of the phone, despite the fact that i ha an S3 and currently a note 3, none of these where as good as the S1 with a custom ROM in terms of sound, i´m getting into this phone more and more by the second.

  • not as good but close too it. And it is dimmer, which is good if you use it in the dark.

  • this phone is awesome!! 74K antutu benchmark score and it is at number 1 spot.. overall this phone is superb.. i really wish the speaker was at the front... and it is offered half the price of the leading brands..

  • was the display difference between the meizu pro 5 ans samsung s6 or the edge +.. is it the same. crispy clean and pure...

  • Listen,id like aske you:in using the device, what's difference between the s6 edge ,or compared to an iphone 6s?

  • This phone's awesome!

  • I bought it from honorbuy.com but had to pay $45 for express DHL shipping.

  • proud of this phone hope santa will give me....nice phone

  • Many users wrote everything about design, speed and user experience. The first thing I was amused by was the audio (my previous music "player" was Galaxy S1 with custom ROM to juice the DAC) it is stunning loud and performs well even when the volume is maxed.

  • was looking for the same , got an mail from honorbuy telling me it dont support norwegian. No big deal eng is ok.

  • thanks man...i really want this one....what store you used?

  • lol ... if you don't know about it , then shut up . Research shows that mans' eye cannot found out the difference of screen that higher than 300 ppi ... If you put your mi note pro beside sony z5 , you will see that the 2 screens are just similar except the brightness .... act smart guy , haha funny tho , your foolish made my day ~

  • Meizu please add Infrared port and ois

  • how is the notification on the meizu pro 5... does it changes color for different apps

  • Perfect phone. I just wonder if it's too big...

  • Since i'm living in china nowadays i decided to buy a chinese phone :) i was confused cuz there are many chinese phones and each one of them has something good..I liked the Mi Note/Mi note Pro/MX5/Pro5/Oppo r7 plus since i'm a big fan of big screens and battery life... i bought a Meizu yesterday and this is a fair review the phone is not that heavy and its kinda slippery with a backcover if fits well in hands..it also feels premium and valuable..the Flyme 4.5 is just easy and simple and so smooth..the finger print sensor is great..the phone doesn't lagg or heat at all..the cameras are not perfect they're average..i went with the 3 GB ram and 32GB storage and its good for me since i can add a microsd card..the loudspeaker is great..phone calls 4g data all good..and now about the battery :D i had 7 hours SOT with heavy usage :)..overall look performance and everything is GREAT

  • Does Meizu PRO 5 support MHL out?

  • no ,i just checked ,and haven t found your language, my phone is Meizu Pro5 32GB

  • Where did you buy yours from and which country you from

  • Does anyone know if there is norwegian language in the international languagepack?? There's some mixed info from different websites, some say it has norwegian language and some say no..... I would really like to know this, before I go out and order it.

  • one friend was asking if it supports arabic. Yes this phone support arabic language too.

  • Yes It does support play store, in fact it came built-in in the device when i got it. and am not sure if it supports wireless charging because I don't have a wireless charger nor I need it because the usb-c 2.0 it charges so fast you will not even use the wireless charger just like the note 5. Yes it does have the theme store and has many many themes to download but some are free and some you have to pay for.

  • SOT: Screen Of Time meaning how long you have been actually using the device. Battery life is absolutely excellent like no phone stood compared like note 4 or S6+. It gave me full day of charge with my heavy-moderate usage and still get 20-30% at the end of the day. and If I needed some juice i plug in the usb-c and it charges so fast without giving the phone any heat. hope this helps

  • Does it support play store and also does it have wireless charging... how is the themes, the wallpaper. can post pictures of the themes and wallpaper

  • what's SOT ? and could you please tell me more about battery life . comparing your experience in other phones , (precisely note 4 and s6 edge +) ... good day

  • This is a quick review of the Meizu pro 5: just got the phone 3 days ago through DHL which took exactly 4 days since purchase which is really fast. I ordered the 64gb with extra accessories. First of all the phone packaging was really premium, the phone has a very elegant and stylish look just like the iphone 6s plus and even its lighter in weight. the screen is absolutely amazing for a 1080p (after coming from many 2k screens) the colors are right to the eye and very bright that i never set the brightness above 50%. The design is very pleasing to the hands and actually make u feel you holding a piece of art. the speakers are very very loud and crystal clear that i have to lower it most of the time and never above 70%. call quality is amazing with real loud and clear audio. I cant justify how fast this phone is, it totally flies and i was shocked how this thing preformed, like I swear its so fast that i think its ridiculous, i've never came across a phone that fast (browsing, downloading and watching youtube). I installed google launcher and its a beast. camera is not really how it should be preformed in low light although Its a 21mp the same sensor used on the z3+ I feels the note 5 is still little better in low light and that's all the difference. day light is superb, indoors is excellent and video quality 4k is top notch without any question. Its just sometimes in low light i prefer to shoot with my DSLR or note 5 which isn't a hassle at all. front camera is excellent with plenty of details and light. Again this phone is blazing fast and you can rely on it if you need speed (I set it for balance mode imagine how it will preform in high performance mode) Thanx to the 4gb ram it only uses 1.3-1.5gb and leaves you with 2.5 to 2.8gb of ram left. Now when it comes to the battery life all I can say is WOW, I am extremely pleased with the battery life of this phone like an honest opinion is given here, on the first charge it gave me more than 6 hours SOT (wifi on, 4g data on, sync on) and whats more special is its fast charging like i was shocked how fast it charged when I took a shower and came out to find it charged much more than I expected. The verdict: I had xiaomi mi note pro, note 4, note 5, S6 edge+, sozy z3, LG g4 and I am defiantly keeping this one for a long time. I was just looking for a device that is blazing fast, stunning battery life and with a great camera and premium design. So if you are looking for a phone has all these features look nowhere alse and get it without any hesitation. Its little bit pricey but it worth every single penny trust me. I hope this quick review helps and if you have any question just let me know.

  • Yes sure, its support

  • The price most likely won't go below 3400 HKD so it's already almost there and the funny thing is you can get a S6 in HK for 3500 HKD now already which will continue to fall in price while the PRO 5's price stays the same. I've played with a PRO 5 at a Meizu store in China and think it's a great phone but I'd still feel safer buying a S6. Not a Xiaomi fan but there's a huge gap in the 2000-2500 RMB market right now it will be interesting to see if Xiaomi puts the Mi5 in this range.

  • Htc m8+samsung s6 +iphone 6=meizu pro 5

  • was that a retorical question?.... of course!

  • hmm, thank you dude

  • Superrrr phone,well done MeIzU

  • Supports but not included by default. Online stores like wondamobile will install them before shipping out. You can also do it yourself by downloading from the Meizu store, but you will need to know some Chinese as the Meizu apps store is Chinese only.

  • Sure

  • Does it support google play apps?

  • i saw this at honorbuy.com Later if you buy tell us about it. i like to know more about this phone.

  • why you r in france and want such phone? don't u know most china made phone got spyware... besides, with all those shipping, it won't be so cheap any more

  • That's a good question mate. I send same question to Meizu but no answer...

  • Hello! Someone know where i can buy it for the best price and get delivred in France? Thx

  • Guys where do i buy the 64gig model? Any links? Note 5 or this? Im really confused.

  • Yup, pro 5 sensor is imx 230, but it's different from Sony Z3. Z3 sensor is imx 220s, the sensor size is slightly bigger than imx 230, and imx 220s pixel size is also slightly bigger imx 230. FYI theoretically the bigger the sensor size, and the smaller pixel size is better

  • Its multilingual! without a single Chinese app!

  • Hey Meizu users, does it support a fully english system language or an arabic language? Please help

  • The Meizu Pro 5 is the most powerful smartphone in the world. That proves that chinese phones are also good.

  • Samsung's Super-Amoled Display -- Best display you can get on a smartphone -better than LCD Sony's IMX230 camera --same used in z3 Top Notch camera Samsung's 14nm Chipset -Power Efficient & Most Powerfull ,no heating issues DDR4 ram both 3gb version and 4gb version HI-fi audio inbuilt chip for 3.5mm Jack 1920x1080 now this seems low end but having a FHD has its own advantages Overall this phone is Better than Samsung s6 moreover Big Battery + Dual sim/Microsd card

  • Meizu Pro 5 has just scored 76852 on Antutu hardware test, beating the previous record holder Samsung Note 5 by almost 5000 points. Pro 5 is now the most powerful Android phone in the world.

  • this phone has the highest benchmark scores in all phones

  • yes, on the middle upfront main button below the screen.

  • yes

  • The 32GB version is available in Hong Kong now $3650 HKD ($470 USD)...Should wait a month later, price will definitely drop. The guy at Shenzhen shop said 64GB need to wait until early November.

  • Is there finger print sensor?????

  • If you're Malaysian, then I suppose you're able to read some Bahasa Indonesia? This link below saying confirmation for the Meizu PRO 5 to come to your neighbouring country Indonesia in DECEMBER. The link includes prices in RUPIAH and also the e-commerce online market blibli.com where the device will start selling.

  • I don't understand why These type of Smartphone haven't a FM,is it cost more?? I highly want two SIM slot with another Micro SD Slot in this phone, will it cost more??? Battery could be of 4000mAH. OTG supports or not??

  • to people who have tried the PRO 5, I'd like to clarify the complete and accurate list of things that Meizu "borrowed" (NO, I have yet to think it's what you called "copying other's desigh/tech" because for now I'd like to optimiscally think Meizu legally ordered/bought these spareparts from Samsung (just like other companies buys chipsets from Qualcomm or buys camera sensors from Sony) then assembled them into the Meizu's own design smartphone. Here's what I heard so far from mixed sources: - Samsung Exynos 7420 (THE fastest production chipset on the market right now) - AMOLED Full HD display (Samsung's known for their USE of AMOLED displays on Most of its devices, so I can't help but wonder Meizu might just as well ordered the display from Samsung. I know many other companies makes AMOLED displays, so this might just a wild guess. But if Meizu does use a Samsung screen, - - Is it a Super Amoled? - - Also, how about Samsung's infamous over saturated colours? - - Since the most modern Samsung handsets allows changes to several Screen Modes that includes one that is accurate, does Menu offer the same/similiar capability? - UFS 2.0 (the faster internal storage system, compared to eMMC), introduced by Samsung through the Galaxy S6 series. This is uncertain because most tech sites only lists the capacity for the storage, not the technology it uses. - If there are other tech "borrowed"/"ordered"/"licensed"/"bought" from Samsung or similar to Samsung please specify. I'm one of those people who blacklisted Samsung handsets for a number of reasons, but the achievements made by one of them that uses these parts have made one of my eyes open. Meizu rescues people like me by releasing the Pro 5, so I'd like to know what I'll get before the "rescue chopper" arrives in my hands which of course would cost me a hefty sum of money, considering it comes from a China-based company. No offense.

  • maybe it will come next month

  • This phone is looking good. It use Samsung high end chip. Big step forward from meizu this time around and this model will sell indeed. Is this model coming to Malaysia?

  • Now I'm in China, it is available in shops all the same price 2799CNY, in HK still not available... Chinese version without google services. But maybe probable upgrade.

  • If only Meizu decided to give it 5000 mAh or at the very least 4000, it would be one of the best buys available.

  • is it available in the us?

  • looks very interesting.

  • meizu may note that most of the indian customers like to have 5'' or maximum 5.2'' smart phones with dual (micro) sims, dedicated expandable memmory slot , fm radio, nfc and removable battery. rest of all your specs are ok including the bezel model.

  • if it had a QHD instead of an FHD i would instantly buy it! i love my current phone (meizu m1 note), and especially its size (5.5") but i decided to buy the meizu mx4 pro due to its better screen

  • Very nice. Just way too big. Good for some. Sweet spot for many it seems is 4.7 to 5 in a body no more than 130-140mm

  • It's RMB 2799 for 32 GB and RMB 3099 for 64 GB. You can buy it in it's official website;

  • Can't wait for GSMARENA.COM trusted review of this phone! No offense, but I trust the site's review than user's opinion :-B

  • FM radio? ;-(

  • oppomart.com & liaow.com

  • hi. how much is this? and where did you buy it? :) thank you

  • Only thing how don't like is classic AMOLED, better have to be if contained LTPS or IGZO screen

  • Best f/p Phone.Mix of iphone 6s plus and Samsung note 5.

  • note 5 without pen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! very nice phone

  • I want this phone. Nice specs

  • do most people really think Apple invented the smartphone? so when other manufacturers "seems to copy" any of their products, it's already valid? i beg to differ!

  • ahahaha...

  • Super

  • Best Phone :)

  • everything i need

  • super

  • That would be the pricepoint, my friend.

  • It has everything i need and desire to have in my next phone especially > USB C, Dual Sim and 5.7" Display -Perfect for me, for those who are going to comment that this is too big for them -well just get a smaller ph as this not for you, period!!

  • Meizu brand doesn't get the same exposure like Samsung, HTC, Sony in north america, so it's unfair to say their design copied iphone's. Meizu have been using the similar design for years as mentioned by other posters. I could only say Pro 5's design was inspired by Iphone but wouldn't say it's a iphone clone. The specs are indeed top notch (Exynos 7420, 4GDDR4, SD slot) considering the price you are paying (if you made the purchase in China\HK).

  • i checked the site too, i could not find it either, but you can go to notification bar and turn on nfc go to this video--you can see it from time 3:11/5:07

  • flyme 2 was best ever android shell. flyme 4 largely remade by new cheaper developers. it isn't. lots of really needed stuff isn't preloaded into memory.

  • no nfc in official specs on meizu.com

  • MX3 was just a larger copy of MX2. MX2 also was an evolution of MX. They just removed buttons and slightly changed design of side buttons. They brought back that design of side buttons back with MX4.

  • I see. 5.7 inch display, same as galaxy note 5 and moto x pure. 1080p? Xperia z3 and z3+. Exynos 7420? Galaxy s6 and s6 edge and note 5. 21 mp camera? That's moto x pure again. I see where this phone really stands out.

  • Does it lag? I'm currently using xperia and the performance is superb.

  • Best phone in the world IMO

  • you're the fool because Meizu used this design since their MX3, which is way before Iphone 6 released.

  • I expected that will be 2 smartphone will be exynus and mediate helio x20 but only the exynus

  • yes it does support nfc.

  • After using MX4 And giving me such headaches of overheating freezing restarting I can say TG (thenks God) I'd already passed the headache to other user (..so I'm bad) No more Meizu experience for me A total headache not a smartphone after all

  • Wrong! iPhone 6 copied Meizu MX4's to begin with: Meizu are just using their own design from thier previews MX3. Something wrong with that? Don't make stupid comment when you don't know anything.

  • iTroll, it's Miezu's 4-year old design. That was Apple that copycatted.

  • ITs not iphone copy... look at exynos chip and ram and camera... its Samsung copy!

  • A copycat. Why must some manufacturers out there copy iPhone design ? That proves iPhone is superior and they admit it when they see the figures of iPhone sold. A brand should design its own model instead of copying others'. No, I don't have an iPhone. I dislike its overprize for a phone though my kids have iPads. I'm not paying for a phone which is more than $400.

  • And no OIS? This thing doesn't quite seem like a bargain then.

  • I'm also interested if it has an IR port. Otherwise, not bad, but screen-to-body deteriorates from last year's pro version and from the MX5. Also the battery is smaller. Who cares if a phone is 7.5 mm or 8.2 mm...

  • too bad this is hybrid dual sim. can't use 2 sim plus sd card together.

  • And why no usb host to ?

  • The question is deos it support nfc ? And why did meizu remove the infrared port ? It is a very useful feature

  • The purpose of this phone is making a good product with low price so they didn't create any new idea for this phone If you want a good chinies phone go to huawei I think this phone is very good for its price

  • NFC yes & IR port no !

  • Are you blind or trying to be that fool? It is a blatant copy of iPhone 6, and I don't like Apple at all. Those Chinese are really out of any idea!

  • a copy from .......iPhone

  • Are you kidding us or you'r blind??...

  • It has NFC and IR port or not?????

  • I see an iphone 6 combined with s6 design and processor with specs almost the same with xperia flagships like z3 and z3+.
