I have had this phone for five years now. Let me tell you,its very durable but man i hate it! Texting takes for ever in less you use predictive text. This isnt the phone i usually use. Its more of a back up phone. I keep it charged and in my purse at all times in case my phone dies when im in a risky situation. I text constantly and this phone is terrible for texting. I started off having this phone as my first,then after awhile i went to a different phone. It got wet and broke so i had to put my sim card back into this phone. Then i got a new one (blackjack II) and then it broke. hahahaha. Once agian im stuck with this phone! I've been using it for three months now. Its durable,the battery life is good. But its so hard to text and the phone call quality isnt good. It freezes sometimes but i guess its good for people who dont text! Full keyboards are more my thing. :)

I have had a c139 go phone for four years and It serves us well I bought an emergency self charging radio/light/cell phone charger. It has a USB port for charging the phone. Where can I find a cord with a USB connection on one end and the plug for my phone on the other? this info is wrong, i used this web address to help with translation. and used the c139 manual at this address instructions to change language on page 46 and on page 5 and 6 is where everything is in menu and submenu. use translation to find russian for 'language' and 'english'

Most of the prople want to know the language setting of this phone and it is very difficult when it turn into chinese .. follow these simple rules Go to Setting (which is 9th menu) then got to 5th option then got to 2nd Option then got to 7th option (language) then select 2nd option English i think u will find this helpful...

hey...well i've had this phone for quite some time now abt 3 years. honestly it doesnt have all the features of an expensive phone but it has every basic thing. I've never had a problem with it and the sound quality of calls are superb! This phone has fallen down approximately 30 times with me and still works! Its a simple phone for the humble people.

I also had same problem but somehow I found it while playing with it. anyways step by step guide for anyone else who ends up with an unknown menu language is SETTINGS (Icon is Paner Signs, 7th in main menu) > OTHER SETTINGS (5th in the list) > INITIAL SETUP (2nd in the list) > LANGUAGE (7th in the list)

I'm buying this phone next year so I can use it on my trip to Orlando. It's on Oxygen Wireless/O2 Wireless, and considering I'm going for 3 weeks it's a little trooper for $39.99 (That's just �20 where I live!) My current provider T-Mobile charges 40 pence to send a text in the USA (That's a whopping 80 cents in the US!) and I don't think I could stick the overwhelming charges! So yeah, for that price, it's ideal for yearly 2-3 week trips to America.

i agree dont get this phone no matter how LESS it costs because i have had some bad experiences with it as you all may have today. it turns itself on everyday "magically". MINE is not DEFECTIVE either it is just bad and im not saying that because it has hardly any features in which i dont need a phone with all that mess thrown on it anyway. SERIOUSLY even a simple phone like this doesnt even work as well as you may think!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This phone sucks. I bought one from my local rite aid, and i wouldn't hold a charge. Tracfone sent me a replacement phone, but this one needs to be plugged in and out to get it to charge properly. Now 2 years later, I purchased another one, thinking I had a lemon, but the same thing. It won't allow itself to be charged. DON'T BUY THIS PHONE.

This fone has so many bugs (like all Motorola) that using a Nokia 5110 is better. And this for a basic fone is a major NO, NO. It can only hold less than 20 messages even less if you have in your outbox and navigation is not user friendly.

the keypad is kinda hard. it hurts my fingers just to go threw the menu and that happens within 2 minutes. so it takes me a while to go threw my phone also there is not much personalization with this phone either.

I think I tried to change the language and ended up with one that is totally unrecognisable to me... Can someone please help by guiding me into the Settings section by telling me how to go into the language section and changing to English. I think the best way would be to count the steps, eg. I know the the Settings for starters because of the icon.. but from then on it is basically 'Warp lingo' as far as I am concerned. Counting steps would be helpful I think, eg. Settings, count two down, press selection which will be 'other settings' and then count three down.. etc etc.. Anyone's help will be hugely appreciated. Many many thanks and look forward to a way out and back to using the phone like it should be used :-), cheers M.

Got one of these for in-laws' emergency phone, but I'd hate for them to face an actual emergency -- only about 1/3 of conversation is audible, even with 3 or more bars of signal. Granted, it has big visible numbers onscreen when dialing, but other than that, only useful for talking to telemarketers -- "I'd...if...try...can't...house...gerbils."

This is a great phone. My co-worker thought it was neat that I can program in whatever ringtone I like. In fact, he plans on replacing his more expensive phone with a C139 and having me do some programming for him. The monophonic tone could be better but it's the only phone I know of with a feature for playing a ringtone you created yourself.

Actually i love this fone. i have 2, blue & silver. but the blue one has a little problem. when some1 call, it doesnt ring and the screen doesnt show an incoming call. but when i check the call log, it show a missed call. i have to restart it to make the ring work again. after a few days i get the same problem again. any1 have the same problem?

i recomend that's its a good phone for beginners but then its starts to get boring because i got this phone on 2006 now its 2008 and between those years i've been trying to get new latest ringtones. i still have'nt figuired it out yet. plus it does'nt have camera in it. the company i have is tuyo mobile DO NOT GET IT. it took less than a week to get the new phone and they send you a prepaid envelope inside with your new phone to return the phone your having problems with. any otehr company would make you buy another phone and buy another plan. they exchange it for free and for spending 12 bucks on a phone thats a really good deal. i've seen this alot, people spending hundred of dollars on phones with a camera and plans to not to be able to afford to send pictures when we spen 12 for the phone, get double the minutes spend what 20 bucks on a 60 min card that gives you 120. who cares about ring tones. i personally dont like it when im somewhere and i hear bubba sparx or beyonce yelling from someones pocket in public. it really makes you look cheesy. ev1 now days has a cell phone and if this 12 dollar phone has the vibrate function im sure your 200 dollar camera one does to.

to the person that bought the phone in foreign country. i would call the 800# 1-800-867-7183 I had one not even 2 weeks and the screen went out on me. they sent me a new phone in the mail and i told them the minutes i had remaining. they reissued me my minutes and even on the new phone game me the previous # to the old phone. i would try getting them to tell you over the phone step by step how to do it and if not purchase enough is proof to get a new phone if your not happy with it they should issue you a new one for free. although im not a motorolla dealer or anything but you think they would if you bought it and your not happy with it. as long as you got the existing phones serial # and sim # i would not think there would be a problem.

i bought the c139 for a very low price with the double minute feature which is a really great deal. if you have to patience to read the instructions youd be amazed at how you can set the alarm and turn the volume up when in a call. this si a very good phone. i a agree cameras should be used for taking pictures and phones for taking and making calls. good job motorola for keeping it affordable and simple. stop being lazy and read the manual...

I got this phone on Christmas in 2006. I don't really like it all that much, because there is no camera, no way to download new ringtones, it's not a flip phone, and it's way too small. Plus, the battery life was never up to par with what Motorola said it was. It lasts maybe 6 or 7 days instead of the said 18. But yeah, if you like it, go for it.

Redial, dialing received calls and previously placed calls require too many steps. I had a Nokia that made this simple. I find myself pressing buttons all over the phone. The screen is too dark to read with out the back light. The volume during a call is too low.

Very good phone =) Previous poster doesn't know what he's talking about. Good phone, does what is wanted. Has an alarm clock !! I use it every day =) PS: [to Duval] press the "up" arrow to capitalize current letter PPS: I used to have a Motorola v330, and this phone is much better: 1. the price coparison ! it's a PHONE for a price of a MEAL !! no other phone beats that. 2. has only the features that a phone needs and that a phone of this size CAN do. Believe me, unless you are getting an iPhone, you won't be able to browse the web or check email comfortably on your phone (320x240, which most phones offer, isn't enough) (Yes, I used T-Mobile Web on v330 and I tried iPhone... in case of non-iPhone phones, you get less than what you pay for.. not to say that I'll EVER buy an iPhone or that I like Apple =) As for the camera - the thought of using the camera in the phones for taking pictures is horrifying, especially in the phones in sub-$100 range. It's fun to take a shot and send it in an SMS... for the first time you try it, most people won't ever use it (not even need it). Cameras are for taking pictures, and good quality/zoom often means bigger lens, which cell phones cannot offer. Think of that. PPPS: read "Smarter than the res"' comment... it's true =)

This phone is REALLY good for the price I paid!!! PROS: Excellent sound quality, price, lantern, color (mine is pink), durable, rubber sides, fun games, its a MOTOROLA, the compliments CONS: Charging time takes a while, hard left and right soft keys, blacklight I have had my Motorola c139 for two days now and I must say it is WONDERFUL! This phone is the BEST phone I have ever had! (I've had the Pantech PN-215, Motorola 120, LG 3280, and a Nokia) No phone can stand up to this phone in my opinion! I loved the price as well. ($14.99 @ Walmart.com) But I must say that the charging takes a while and the left and right soft keys make my thumbs sore after a while, but hey I'll get used to it. Anyways, I have tracfone and the service is great. The only other thing I do not like is the blacklight, but oh well. :) THANK YOU MOTOROLA! Brilliance!

Yes, I can see that having a more interesting GAME on your $10 phone would be more important than having a LANTERN in the event of an EMERGENCY. I have this phone from Tracfone, and I dont really like it all that much the buttons are very small, which i dont like the games are boring, you have a Breakout Game, a Football type game and a maze game. the phone is filled with useless features like the Lantern. Which only holds a white screen for as long as you let it. it also has an exchange rate calculator, which is very hard to understand there are only 2 or 3 backgrounds to choose from and there are only mono ringtones that can be very annoying and sharp to the ear i have good service withit, though. the battery life isnt as good as I think it should be, mine only stays charged for about 3 days without use, and maybe 2 days with use.

I think it's a great phone for basic needs, but mine has been resetting itself recently: first two times in the rain (it didn't get wet, but exposed to quite high humidity, yes) but recently just under normal conditions. Has anyone experienced this? Any way to fix this, or should I just buy anohter one (seeing as how it was so cheap)?

I bought the phone 10 months ago because it was cheap. Aside from being small enough to fit on a key ring, the phone get used/abused daily without any problems. I did buy a case (not a pouch) to give it some size. Overall, I give the phone thumbs up.

I was checking out this phone today, needed as my 2nd phone, a spare for my K800i. It looks okay, but very small screen and the keys are too small for my relatively larger fingers. It also doesnt have polyphonic which does sound aukward indeed. Instead i bough a Sagem My210x, it has similar features, but bigger and comfortable keypads, larger screen and polyphonic. And it costs lower than this!! EUR 15 with vodafone call-ya! C139 is EUR 17 with Vodafone Call-ya..

All I wanted was a basic phone with VERY GOOD battery life - Nokias just couldn't cut it. I bought the C139 after much googling and am very happy. There was a learning curve with the keypad menus etc after so many years with Nokia but it eventually became 2nd nature. Excellent no frills phone with good reception & sound quality and AWESOME battery life.

Incredibly durable phone. I've dropped it two stories onto concrete, into water, you name it, this phone has been through it all and it still works. A lot of my friends are on their 2nd and 3rd razor phones. Yes, razors are cool looking with lots of nice features, but I'm not going to shell out $200 every time it breaks to buy a new one. Even if mine ever breaks I'll just go to Walmart and pay the $18.88 for a new one and put my SIM card in it.

Got this as a temporary broken phone replacement for 20 dollars. I put in my Cingular SIM from the old phone and it works perfectly. Calls are clear and the battery life is excellent. No fancy ring tones or features to be found here but this phone is a great basic performer.

I know for a fact with all the sience of natural human strenth in my brain that there is a way to upgrade this phones ("APPLICATIONS") We need someone with electronic technologically advanced system intelligence. To find a way that people can modify the C139 Cingular Wireless Motarola cell phones. I want to find out how it was programmed and how I can edit the information to add more funtions. There must be a way to add more ringtones and the only real way to find this out is finding out each and every electronic microchip to modify. Changing the chips or additions for the chips if need be. There should be updates by motarola or cingular and it should install faster easyer system data for there customers who need customization. There are many laws and regulations about music copywrite details but most inportantly the money that it would cost to design a product such as a ("Universal Cell Phone Customizer") With an invention like this I think there would be a lot of happy customers for years to come. Having the power to have your own cell phone company in your own cell phone. Free by the power of your intelegence you would be smart enough to edit your cell phone in your own personal prefrence with out buying minutes cause you wont need to pay your self. Very cheap phone, call quality is decent, rubbish wallpapers and ringtones but hey, I got it for 10 quid so no complaints :) Only thing is (and does anyone else find this?) whenever I switch it on I seem to get a slight headache(?!?!?!?) and this never happened with any of my other phones (K500 and 6630). Beware if you buy the C139 with Net10 or TracFone. I liked the phone, it was working fine for 6 months. I had no idea about problems some others have reported about the phone resetting itself. Well, it happened to me last week. About 2500 minutes ($250) and 1 year of service just vanished from the phone after it reset itself back to factory defaults. Net10 acknowledged that some of the C139s have a defect causing this to happen. They sent me a Moto V171 as a replacement and restored my minutes.

Pros: The sound is great, as an audio AGC circuit keeps the background noise lower than your voice so the caller on the other end hears you better. Receive audio is clear, and undistorted at high volume. Really LONG battery life. You can use this thing a week without charging, so on any road trip, you'll never need a clumsy car power cord. Manual selection of low band 850 meg, or high band 1900 meg let you lock onto the best towers in your area. This prevents the phone from dropping calls as it would in the automatic mode switching from high to low band. Of course you can set it to automatically switch if you want it to. Rubber side grip keeps it in your hand and not on the floor. Cons: Very few other features. No speakerphone. No camera. No gps readout. No internet browser. Color display is useless unless you keep turning on the backlight. Who needs color anyway, when all there is to see is numbers. Wallpaper is a waste as it only makes it harder to see the display. No external antenna, which would have provided better reception in low signal areas between towers. Bottom line: It's a good phone for using to make calls, which is what a phone is really supposed to do anyway. It does this well, and it does it for longer per battery charge than any phone I have ever seen.

I think this phone is perfect for someone who doesn't want all the bells and whistles. My phone sits in its case in my pursue the majority of the time, so this is a perfect little phone for me. I knew what I was getting when I researched and read the package, so I didn't expect anymore than what I paid for. People have reported problems with resetting of due date and minutes with the TracFone version, but so far I have not had any problems (knock on wood). Overall, so far so good for what I use it for.

The funny thing that I have discovered in this simple phone is that it looks morden with good colour, But it doesn't give derivery alert when you send text messege. This makes me bored with the phone as some of my friends keeps on blaming me when I promise to send them text sms. It doesn't show whether the msg has gone or not, and no derivery note. I went to look on my TracFone users group and some people said to take it out and put it back in a few times. Make sure it's in correctly. Someone said try turning the phone on and off a few times. I don't know why it tells you that, I put mine in and had no problems, make sure it's pushed in all the way and you hear it click. Hope this helps :).

Just tried the Crostel.com site that someone recommended for ringtones and it worked for me. I have a Motorola C139 used through TracFone. The ringtone came as a text message so be aware that you will lose minutes by opening it. But it was pretty simple to save it to my phone.

I bought 2 of these phones w/ Net10 service. One for me, and one for my wife. Within 1 month, they have **both** reset themselves back to factory defaults, losing all airtime. It took a few days to get my replacement the 1st time, and I'm going through the same thing again. I think I'm finding out the Nokia is a better choice. If my replacements crap out on me, I'll just have to find new phones.

I live in Thailand and just purchased one of these as part of the Cingular pre-paid service. To answer your question, no it will not work with any other SIM card. On powering up the phone, it will ask you for "Subsidy Password", which of course Cingular does not tell you. Also, the frequencies on the North American version of this phone are not very useful in Asia or Europe. As for me, I only needed the SIM card and the C139 is a fairly primitive phone. I am just going to pitch the C139 and use my spare Sony-Ericsson T630 when I am using the Cingular SIM card in the USA.

I got this phone yesterday for my b-day and I think it's a wonderful phone! I mean it doesn't have a camera but it does have polyphonic ringtones that you can download,from the cingular website,it has an alarm clock. Despite many of the previous comments you really can�t beat this phone for the money. The battery life on this thing is without a doubt reason enough to have it. The high priced phones have a lot of new toys yes, but they can�t compare to the rugged construction and long batter life of this phone. I�m a man. I bought this phone cuz I was told it was poliphonic (what a lie). it doesn't have anything!! not even a crappy alarm clock!! it looks nice... just in the outside. The contacts book supports like 100 contacts or less, it doesn't even have a crappy NOTES option... when you dial a number it just looks huge... it's hard to use... I don't know... it's just awful. I sold it to an old lady like 2 weeks after I bought it and got myself a nice Alcatel ot-552a

I too bought this phone as a prepay just to toss the prepaid sim and put my regular sim in. My old phone crapped out on me and i just needed a cheap phone to last until i can get an upgrade without costing me an arm and a leg. Not too hot on the graphics or ringtones but over all seems to be a great phone.

I too thought this was a nice phone for the price. Until I woke up this morning and found the damn thing had reset itself back to the factory defaults. Since I bought this for use on a prepaid network, all my airtime was lost. I am currently waiting for a replacement that should be here within 3-5 working days. According to the customer service rep, this is a recurring problem with the phone.

I've had this phone for months now! It's great, beautiful on the eye, and it works great too! It's got an outstanding battery life, and a stunning colour screen. I don't know why people say how much they hate this phone, especially because it can't download ringtones; it's not advertised that it can't download ringtones! All in all, the Motorola c139 is a loovely phone, I'd reccomend it to anyone that doesn't want all the bells and whistles :]

Well, just to put it to you straigt: I've done gone through two of these in the past month. Yep, you read right, two of them. Both phones were defective. Honestly, I wouldn't trust Motorola with this phone. It does look nice, but is made cheap, which I suppose I should've put into consideration. Also, as I read in another opinion, this phone does not have polyphonic ringtones like it is advertised. I personally recommend that you avoid this phone.

Yes u can get real ring tones. you need to purchase a razor v3 data cable and place it in your c139 you can buy them on ebay.be sure to get the software also it will enable your phone to download graphics from your pc.

Best mobile phone I've ever owned. Its smart, its small, it's reliable. Voice quality is good. Unlike Nokia it does not have a hair trigger buttons which get pressed inadvertently in your pocket. Battery life is great. Intuitive user display. Well done Motorola.

Excellent no frills phone for the money. Just what my other likes. Send/receive calls and text msgs. No camera or other bs to suck up power. If one wants a phone with a lot of whistles and bells, this isn't for you.

Hey I think That Motorola Makes Great Phones For A Cheap Cost and that the motorola c139 is awesome for battery life too. Its very sharp in color espicaslly black. The Screen is a little small but o well I rather have a little screen than no cell phone at all. I advise anyone and everyone to buy this phone by tracfone only. They have very nice costomer support too and they anwser all your questions that need anwsering. If anyone who reads my message and has any questions about there C139 phone ask me about it because I know all about this phone myself. Good clarity of sound, light clear in the daytime and nite, screen bright and vibrant! A great no frills phone for anyone! Great battery life too! If u want a simple phone without the complications of all that new crap this is the one! It even sends/ receives txt msg! Monomorphic tones that can be heard from far! Recently bought this cute prepaid C139 for US$10.00 (brand new) as a back up phone and what a delightful surprise!!! I just love this phone with its bright colours, bold clear fonts and very visible keypad. Battery life is excellent. Called my mom in Canada for Mother's Day and the clarity of the sound was just unbelievable for such a cheap phone. I use it all the time now. I like the sturdy feel of it. It is definitely a little workhorse phone and very simple to use. No frills which I don't miss anyway. I wanted something functional and simple and the C139 is just that. Actually, it is my third phone and the only one I felt encouraged to explore. I only learnt to make and receive calls on the other two. That was enough for me. This phone is now my workhorse and my toy.

Got one for 60 euro unlocked.It is an ideal phone for me,great battery life ,about a week with 2 3 hours of talk, it's is rock solid,keyboard quality is decent,has rubber insertions on sides so it doesn't slip in your hands, looks good and assembly quality is perfect.It's small and light.Simple,basic phone without any other gadgets.

This phone is NOT good, the key pad is hard to press, the menu functions are too confusing and you have to go thru SO many menus to get where you want, its crazy. Limited SMS storage of messages is a big MINUS. Battery life is bad once you have the screen light up, it chews power like no tomorrow. The phone is cheap as chips but i know its a entry level phone, for a few dollars more you can get a better phone from another company like LG, Nokia, or Samsung. I made the mistake of finding out by using it in the 1st hour of ownership. Wished i had brought another brand now.

I just bought this phone BRAND NEW for �9.99 (plus �5 Orange airtime) from Carphonewarehouse. It is also as I found out UNLOCKED as I intended to use it as a spare when I don't want to damage my V3 on O2. It is a great little phone with 7.5 hour talktime and 2 weeks standby between charges. It also has HUGE numbers on the display as you type them in (perfect for my Grandparents senior eyes!) Only niggle is that I haven't found out how to turn off the awful keypad tones without going silent. I'm sure it must cost more than �10 to make, so who is paying for this??? Thank you Orange! Buy one. It's great. Cheap. No frills. Nice and small. And suprisingly good to look at (unlike all other cheap phones except NEC 343i) Get one for you and your Gran!

Got this to fill in as my V220 broke. Got it for �20 including an orange SIM pack. Really easy to use, small and discrete and dear say quite good looking. Better built than the V220 and has quite a lot of gimmicks. No poly ringtones, no camera or MP3 nor MMS but I didn't use any of them anyhow. Being quite honest I think I'll just keep using this because I only want a small robust basic phone which this is. Recommended for people who want to communicate only.

I don't understand, why in this cheap low-end class phone is TFT 65.000 color display????? I think would be enough and CSTN 4096color, because this phone is low-end, not something higher. But in conclusion i like all these cheap motorola :)
